This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's
superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

You're listening to a podcast. You're listening to
Fox Sports Radio.
All right, great to have you.
And Mark Schlarath did the Giants Cardinals game, which I watched, and it's entirely.
It was basically two games.
And Mark Schlerath, three rings, two-time Pro Bowl, were Fox Sports joining us live.
That was one of the craziest games I've ever seen.
I don't even know what to make of it.
I do think there is some, I mean, in your career, if you ever had a game like that,
where you literally, it was two different football games entirely.
Have you ever played in a game like that in your career?
Yeah, you know, it's interesting because the Giants came back from an 18-point deficit,
and it's the first time, and it was ridiculous, like 100 years or whatever it was,
that they have come back from that kind of deficit in the fourth quarter.
I had a game that we played in Detroit when I was with Washington,
where we're down 18 in the fourth, and we came back and won that game in overtime,
and I think we had 60 snaps offensively between the 4th.
fourth quarter in overtime.
So, I mean, it was just like we did nothing.
We did nothing for three quarters.
And then 60 snaps.
I mean, it was ridiculous.
So, yeah, I've had a few of those games.
That game was, like you said, a tale of two different games.
I will say this about the Cardinals.
For all the people out there, they're saying,
hey, they were tanking and this, that, and the other.
They are playing so hard.
And I know they've got some limited talent,
the quarterback position, and some other places.
but man, they are playing hard for Jonathan Gannon.
It's a testament to them, their organization, and the way they've been coached,
and the way they're out there laying online because they have played that way.
They have played with passion.
So you're on a very popular radio show in Denver,
and I said there's two different ways to look at Russell Wilson.
One of them, the positive way is this,
is that you ask Sean Payton to do three things.
Change the culture.
That takes a while.
Fix the O line.
They're trying, but nobody plays in the preseason.
and so that's going to take another month
and get Russell Wilson right.
And I could say this, Mark,
his first halves have been excellent.
So they're making progress with Russell Wilson.
That's my positive spin.
He's good on script.
He's more accurate.
He's lost weight.
If you gave that argument to your audience in Denver,
would they buy it that we're on our way
and we're close and there is progress?
No, because I've given that.
I've given that to my Denver audience, and they don't care.
You know, they're on the, hey, I'm with you, winner, tie, and we're not winning.
So they don't like Russ.
They don't like his act.
They don't like it.
And maybe it's not an act, but they just, that's the perception.
They don't like it.
And they're not winning.
They scored 16 points in the first game.
It's not enough.
And then they shut down in the second half, they had scored six points up into the point where they
throw the hell Mary for a touchdown.
So, like, they're not, they're not buying into it.
And the bottom line is you look at this offense right now, more points per drive than any
offense in the national football league.
Because remember, in the 16-point affair, week one against the Raiders, they only had the
ball six times.
Yeah.
And so, you know, ultimately, it's a defensive issue, not being able to get off the field,
not being able to stop them on critical drives.
They haven't been able to do that here in Denver.
But nobody's talking about that.
Everybody's just, you know, they're storm in the castle.
with pitchforks and lanterns trying to go after Russ.
And he has played better.
There has been more continuity.
He has gotten rid of the ball.
He has been accurate.
He's done all those things.
But it's not good enough.
And, you know, the flashback to last week taking seven sacks and everything else, you know,
everybody's going to put around on Russ until he goes out there and performs until they win a game.
So, you know, Dave Wonstat, who we both know, said when he coached the Bears of the
the Dolphins. He said you can lose two games in a row. If you lose a third, you can lose the locker
room. And so now, even in Los Angeles, which is a pretty chill market, the Chargers are
not a top marquee franchise. Brandon Staley's getting heat. Go to your career. The difference
between a two-game losing streak, and you didn't have a lot because you were on good teams.
But that one stat always says, you go to three and guys start splitting off, especially
early on a year. Do you think we could have, not a mutiny, but could it go sideways?
Have you experienced that?
Oh, yeah, absolutely. If you start losing multiple games, you start losing three, four in a row,
then you start looking at all the little things that creep in that cost you games.
You know, it comes down to, hey, we got the play in late, so we had a hustle up the line of
scrimmage. We could, you know, read the defense first. You're looking at things like that,
like time management, play calls, getting to play in on time, giving us a chance to get up and get a pre-snap look,
all the things that bad teams don't do well. But you look at the chargers, I mean, like, they're scoring.
They're scoring points. They're putting it together. It's just the chargers. They have a propensity.
Like I always say, charges are going to charge it. They'll find a way to lose a game.
And ultimately, that's the culture that has to be changed. And Brandon Staley's going to be the guy on the hot.
seat for that. And I'm with
Dave Wonset. You lose three in a row
and guys in that locker room are
going to be like, what are we doing? We're too talented.
We're scoring too many points.
You know, and we're giving ourselves
a chance to win every single
game and we can't
come away with a win. By the way, you
look at the two losses. They lose
the Titans 27-24
and they lose the week,
you know, the previous week in a tight one
with a big scoring affair
to a
Tua and the Miami Dolphins.
And Brandon Staley comes from the defensive side of the football.
So your defense, your offense is performing.
Your defense is not performing.
Your defense is not getting critical stops.
So, yeah, I think the heat is on there in Chargerland.
So, you know, this is really a question that you're one of the few people, I think, at Fox that
would answer accurately because of your offensive line experience.
So after week one, Mark, 10 of the 11, according to PFF.
10 of the 11 highest-gritted O-lines offensive head coaches,
bottom of the league, almost all defensive coaches.
McVeigh, Andy Reid, I've seen them in an off-season fix the O-line.
McDermott can't get it right in Buffalo.
Mike Tomlin can't get it right in Pittsburgh.
Chicago can't get it right with a defensive coach.
There is something here.
I do not believe it's a coincidence that these young quarterbacks,
Brock Purdy, Tua,
They're just better when they've got an offensive guy fixing the O-line.
I mean, I look at New England's O-line.
Feels like it's without Brady, it's regressed.
Just take me inside the O-line.
I watched Pittsburgh last night.
This is five, six years now with Tomlin.
They can't get it right.
What is it?
Yeah.
You know, what's interesting, Colin, is offensive line,
the play of offensive line.
And I always say we're like a secret mushroom society.
The only people who know what we're doing is us in that room, right?
And even your head coach doesn't necessarily know exactly what you're doing
and how you get things done.
They just want those things done.
And I think what happens and what people need to understand is your offensive ability
to dominate a line of scrimmage and to really play well comes down to this.
Who is your play caller and how many tools do you give us as a play caller?
So great offensive line play is predicated not only on the players that you have and the scheme that you're running,
but more importantly on the plays that are being called.
You know, if you have a play caller that doesn't understand our problems and how difficult that position is,
it's the hardest position in football.
To me, it's the most skilled position in football because think about this.
give me one other position or one other sport where unlike athletes match up and the guy who is the
lesser athlete is expected to win 100% of the battles there there is there isn't one yeah you know you don't
you know a heavyweight boxer doesn't doesn't box against a flyweight uh you know when when a
six foot three point guard blows by a seven foot two center you don't say we got we got to we got
to can that center he's no good you say they got us in a matchup and a switch
but I'm a lesser athlete than you and I'm expected to win 100% of the battles and if I don't
if I give up one sack you go to the Pro Bowl and they're looking to replace me and so from a play
calling standpoint you've got to give me weapons you've got to give me an opportunity to get
three step drop where I'm attacking you've got to give me plenty of run where I can set a tone
then all of a sudden if you give me that stuff we can throw a five step drop that's going to be like
all go something that gets out of there quick and
I can attack you in the run game, even though it's a passing game, and you have to respect that as a
defensive lineman. And now all of a sudden, I'm dictating what I call taking the passive out of pass
protection. And that's a play caller's responsibility to do that for me. It's like when you don't have
those things, it's like saying, hey, man, can you build me this deck? We need this beautiful deck on the back
of my house so we can enjoy the sunshine so we can barbecue and grill out and everything else.
but I'm not going to give you a saw
and I'm not going to give you a level
and I'm not going to give you any nails
I'm just going to give you a hammer
so go build me a deck
you're like well I can't build a deck with just a hammer
I need all the other tools
to be able to put a deck together
that's reliable and that's sturdy
and they can hold the weight of guests
and everything else
and so when you have a guy that's called
that's on a defensive side
I don't think he truly oftentimes
understands the issues that we have up front
and a guy that's a play caller that really understands those issues is calling plays based on that
because he knows that that's the spine of a football team.
That offensive line is the spine and you can't do anything without a strong spine.
Finally, you have the Lions this week, so they beat Kansas City on the road,
they lose to Seattle at home.
You're starting to look at film in a minute to 90 seconds.
What are the Lions overhyped or just a bad week against the Hawks?
No, I think the Lions are a really good football team.
Now, the Hawks come in there with two backup offensive tackles,
and they don't snip a pressure on Gino Smith.
And that's got to change.
You know, everybody wants to talk about the back end getting beat by three really good receivers,
starting receivers.
But the bottom line, if you don't get pressure on the opponent's quarterback,
I don't care who you are.
You can't cover it for four seconds in this league.
So that's an issue.
The lines are physical.
The lines got to, they have a great offensive line.
Now, David Montgomery has a thigh bruise, so it looks like he's going to be out.
That's a big loss for them.
But I'll tell you, you want to watch a guy play, like one of the best players in the National Football League right now,
bar-num, bar position is Pinae Sewell.
Watch that guy.
He got flipped from right tackle over the left tackle and just dispensed justice at the left tackle position.
I tell you what, to be able to make that switch, it's so hard because everything goes backwards.
It's like saying to a right-handed batter, hey, I know that you're a right-handed batter.
hitter. And this is the ninth inning and it's a critical game. Why don't you take this bat
from the left side? This abbat go. I mean, it is so hard to do that. And he flipped sides and just
like I said, just dispensed justice. So he's a fun guy to watch. Detroit's legit. They're a
legit football team. Mark Schlerath, three rings, Fox Sports, Falcons at the Lions, Sunday one
Eastern on Fox, my friend. Good old line stuff. I knew you'd deliver plus Denver and the Broncos. Nobody at
This network knows it like you.
Good seeing you, Mark.
Likewise, Colin.
Take care, buddy.
Yep.
Hear that crazy Giants game.
Staying away from the Giants.
Seekwan Barkley, Camacres, very, guy, we got to get J-Mack.
Keep sniffing around on that thing.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when
Tyne Hay said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little camp?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
J-Mac with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Wait.
Cam Acres and the Giants?
I just think it's one of the two teams that I'd sniff around.
Give up a six-round pick.
Their defense is pretty solid.
Listen, why are you giving up anything?
They might just cut him if he's that much of a nuisance in the locker?
Well, they've got five weeks here to play around.
Somebody's going to bite on him.
Cleveland, New York Giants, Tampa Bay.
Somebody's going to buy.
Cam Acres a good player.
He's just gotten Sean McVeigh's doghouse.
But he was...
For two years?
His last three games last year, over 100 yards, with a terrible O-line.
He can play.
That's not an issue.
He can catch and he can run.
He's got wiggle.
He doesn't like to block much.
McVeigh, that's the non-starter.
Classic shakes, but he doesn't bake, right?
Remember when I said that line the first time you loved it?
I love that line.
He's just lukewarm this time.
Well, they'll steal it eventually.
Okay.
All right.
Let's start with the, what are we doing here?
Oh, my gosh.
The Tua.
Okay, so Tua's thriving in Mike McDaniel's the system.
Yeah.
But Matt Jones is kind of struggling.
I know everybody wanted to blame Patricia last year.
Well, Mac Jones still stinks this year.
And comeback mode, I guess he's been okay.
But one NFL exec told Albert Breer that Mac Jones would be just as effective as Tua would be if he were in Miami.
I feel like what Miami put around Tua is very similar to what they both had at Alabama.
And at Bama, you see what they were able to do.
Mac is the complete opposite.
He did benefit with the weapons.
So the question was if he could elevate people around him.
And because of what's around him, we still don't know.
I feel like there'd be similar results if the rolls were reversed.
Mac would have similar results in that offense in Miami.
I don't think that.
I think Tua is slightly, but I said for years, I think two is a left-handed Mac Jones.
I think Tua gets rid of the ball is a little bit more accurate.
But you don't like context.
Are you telling me that Mack Jones, who last year had a defensive coordinator,
has no number one receiver.
If you gave Mac Jones today,
Jaylen Waddle, Tyree Kill, and Mike McDaniel as a coordinator, and you gave Tua,
Juju Smith, Schuster, Devante Parker.
You don't think the results would change?
No, no, I agree.
I agree.
They would change.
Now let me.
I'm going to counter that to you.
Justin Fields had a stacked offense at Ohio State.
He was putting up massive numbers.
Put Justin Fields in the McDaniel offense with Tyree Killed and Waddle.
What's happening then?
We know that Mack and Tua are accurate in the pocket.
But Justin Fields is accurate at college.
Look at his numbers.
No, no, no.
Let's talk pro football.
Right now, Zach Wilson and Justin Fields can't throw the ball accurately.
It's a problem.
I don't want to hear about college.
I'm saying Mac and Tua have proven at the NFL level.
Give him protection.
They'll throw the ball accurate.
Justin Fields and Zach Wilson have not proven that in the NFL.
They haven't.
Have you seen what's around Justin Fields in Chicago?
What about the coaching?
Have you seen what was around Mac Jones as a rookie and he still completed 65
percent of his throws. We're going to end up going to the mattresses over this one. You seem to think
Mack Jones has like a lot of potential that can be a star. I'm just telling you right now, from what
I've seen, he ain't much better at all than Justin Fields has in the pros. I just don't, I don't see it.
He's a more accurate thrower of the football. He's not the athlete, doesn't have the arm strength.
I'm talking about in Mike, our whole argument started with Mike McDaniel's system. It's not an arm strength
system. It's not a runaround system. It's a get the ball, quick read, get it out accurately. That's what
does. That's all he does. That's what
too it does. Justin Fields did that
in college. He can do that in the college.
Everybody.
Marcus Marietta was completed.
He was an unbelievable in college.
He was good in Tennessee. He went to the playoffs.
College. Let's stay in the NFL.
No, no, Tennessee Titans familiar.
Justin Fields has not proven it as an NFL
quarterback, nor is Zach Wilson. Good arm can run.
They can throw an accurate pass
and read a defense. Can't do it.
Well, Zach Wilson, I would agree. Cannot read a defense.
I think feel.
I could be wrong, but that's what everybody's saying.
But the argument of in McDaniels' offense,
Mac Jones could thrive.
You could say that about 90% of the quarterbacks in the league.
The knock on Justin Fields, it is data.
Since, I think it's 2020 or 21 one of those years.
Since Justin came into the league,
he has 16 more sacks than the next quarterback in the league
with four plus seconds to throw.
He is on a, he is on a place.
that no other quarterback in the league is close to.
He's getting sacked on four plus seconds of time.
He's got enough time.
It's not a great O-line.
It's functional.
Yeah.
And it's like, like, the Giants O-line against the Cowboys wasn't functional.
Like, his O-line has been the last year functional.
Functional.
He just doesn't let it go.
So there's a lot of layers here, but again, I'll get back to this.
Is Luke Getzzi getting guys open?
Is he scheming guys open the way that Daniel is?
video on the internet.
There were some guys opening at Tampa.
By the way, this is happening, this is a Zach Wilson issue, where you look at film
and go, there's open guys.
Now, in Zach Wilson's case, he always looks small to me.
They say it's 6-2.
He never looks 6-2.
Just as a big kid.
So the days of saying, hey, it's the coach's fault.
Okay, let's look at data.
Four plus seconds to throw.
Pick sacks.
Let's look at film.
wide open guys. That's the thing with analytics data and all the
video these days. There's proof, damning proof that Justin
Fields isn't getting better. I will add one
final thing. So the Tampa defense, and I'm salty about this game, I had the
Bears. The Tampa defense said we knew that screen pass was coming late.
Justin Fields. Right. Justin Fields said, hey, you know, Luke made
the call. That was not a Justin Fields audible. That's how basic this
offense is. Crunch time, need to drive the length of the field for a touchdown, and Tampa
knows exactly what's coming. I just, I'm not ready to totally write off Justin Fields.
I'm not either. I'm close. I'm not either. I've written, I've said, I've written off
Zach Wilson. I'm not ready to write off Justin. Okay. I do think nobody plays starters in the
preseason. He barely played in the preseason. Like, get him out there. So I want to see three or four
more weeks. But I said, I felt Thanksgiving we'd know on Justin Fields. I'm not there yet.
But the early trend is, kid, let it rip, throw the ball.
Or tuck and run like he did against Patriots head to head.
And I wrote that on social.
And a couple gambling guys who I know were like, listen, Fields talked about in the offseason,
he wants to win from the pocket.
I think maybe that hit shook him up late last season.
Sure.
And we saw Anthony Richardson's already getting dinged up two straight weeks.
But, you know, Justin, I hate to say it.
Like, you got to play to your strengths.
I think Lamar.
Talk and run.
I think Lamar Jackson has the perfect balance.
He mostly throws.
But four or five times a game, Lamar's off to the races, and it's a nightmare.
I think Lamar and Baltimore have embraced what he is.
But I think Lamar's also gotten, he's always been a little better passer than everybody wants to admit.
Always.
And now he's got weapons.
And now he's got weapons.
But I think Baltimore's got the right field.
They know what their identity is.
Our quarterback is really explosive.
Now let's get him a bunch of weapons.
Obie J's A Flowers, Mark Andrews.
So I think Baltimore's.
got the right mix. I think Philly's trying to figure out how often to run Jalen Hertz. And I would say
as long as he slides, run him eight times a game. This is why Colin is a perfect TV guy. Let's segue
to the Eagles who are 2 and O, but the offense does not look great. Jalen Hertz hasn't thrown for 200 yards
yet this season. Nick Siriani, they're not worried about the slow start in the passing game.
We're not in a panic mode or anything like that. I think just, you know, as the past number's
been down, yeah, does the defense play into that? Of course it does. And fortunately for us,
you know, and not everybody has this luxury, but fortunately for us, we're able to win on the
ground and we're able to win in the air. And so you are able to balance off of what the defense
does. And I thought Brian and the offensive staff did a phenomenal job.
They're fine. I think they're going to be fine. Their defense is.
Are you sure? I think they're going to be fine.
I think, listen, and I've seen this with Kansas City.
I've seen it early with Pittsburgh.
I've seen it with a lot of teams.
You don't play starters in the preseason.
It takes you a month to figure out what in the heck you are.
Cincinnati doesn't know what the hell they are.
But there is something to this offense was a juggernaut last year.
And I think a lot of teams studied what they did.
And teams are not prepared for it.
By the way, everybody stole their quarterback sneak thing.
So the whole league stole that.
You know your theory on like pitchers when they have to go through the line?
line up two, three times. The third time around, batters are ready.
Well, that's analytics. This is second season now that they've seen this offense.
And I think early on teams are ready. Now, this matchup against Tampa is interesting.
Stay away. Watch out.
The last time they faced bowls, he put Hertz in a body bag in that playoff game.
It was like 31-0. Remember that two years ago?
The people were calling for Gardner Minshu in the second half. That's how bad Hertz was.
I'm leaning toward Tampa.
I don't know.
Five and a half, it's like a dead zone number.
Usually if it's five and a half, I'll take the favorite.
It is a dead zone number.
I mean, that Philly defense, you know, huge lead multiple times against Minnesota,
couldn't protect it.
Kirk Cousins just slinging, coming down the field, and they ended up,
I think it was a push, right, at six?
Yeah.
Baker's not making mistakes.
No, Baker's been...
He's not screwing up.
I think I saw a stat this morning.
He's been great on, like, third down.
He's making plays.
All right, final.
story is Joe Burrow in this calf injury.
Bengals are my Super Bowl pick, and that's not looking great.
Cincinnati plays Monday night against the Rams.
Head coach, Zach Taylor, did not have an update on the availability.
He said it's hard to say whether Burrow will be able to play.
Well, if you want to track the Vegas line, Nick touched on this earlier,
this is down to like one and a half.
Bengals favored by one and a half.
So somebody must know something.
Something happened with the running?
Huh?
So Bengals, the line.
It was six and a half, and now it's down to one and a half.
Like, you don't do that unless you think Burroughs out, unless you're giving away free money,
because Burroughs should be able to take care of this Rams defense.
I don't know, man.
There's a stat.
Hold on, I got it here.
99 teams have started O'N3 since 2002.
One has made the playoffs.
And it was the Texans in that joker of the division.
99 teams have started O'N3 since 2002.
One of 99 have made the playoffs.
Two. Yeah. So it's 21 years a day.
So you're just not making the playoffs if you're on three.
One team has pulled it off. Now, the Chargers face the Vikings.
Oh, my God.
That's an elimination game.
Oh, my, that's what it seems like.
But you know what? Now, we have 17 games now.
It's fair. That's a little changed.
And I will say the Vikings division is very bad early.
So there's a chance if they lose, they could still sneak in.
The games this week are, there are some tasty matchups.
And listen, Bengals in that division.
You're not coming back from 0-and-3 to win the division.
By the way, and the other reason is because Pittsburgh, Cleland, and Baltimore match up well against you.
They've all got great pass-rushers.
Jets losing Rogers, you know, they kind of fall out.
But if the Jets somehow beat the Patriots and send them to O&3...
Now, when is that game?
Sunday.
Sunday night?
No, I think it's 1 p.m.
If the Jets beat the Patriots, I think, A, I'll be wearing a Jets T-shirt on the show Monday.
And B, you will start with a eulogy for Bill Belagie.
Bill Belichick is in NFL.
I'm not leading with the Jets.
No, no, you'll lead with the Patriots and Belichick being 0-3.
No, I won't.
No, I won't.
I will not lead with the Jets.
No, I said Patriots.
I'm not leading with the Patriots Monday.
There's no chance.
No chance.
If the Jets beat them.
There's too many good games.
There's some great games.
If the Chargers are 0-and-3, it makes my second story.
You're saying Patriots O and 3 will not be the opening block.
No.
Why would I want to talk about a boring team?
Bill Belichick, the greatest coach of the key of football.
He's boring.
He used to be exhilarating.
That's the story.
Bill Belichick has washed.
Can we not produce my opening rant on Monday?
It's Tuesday?
But listen, you like to talk about the 70s?
Bill Belichick is in his 70s.
Come on.
Your audience, they love talking about the 70s, the 8-A Cowherd Prime back in high school,
slinging it.
What's not in high school in the 70?
Well, maybe 79.
80, 80, 80. Yeah, 79. Okay.
J. Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

All right, there's our herd hierarchy.
Miami's the best football team I've seen with the best coaching.
San Francisco most loaded roster.
Dallas's defense has been the most impressive.
Kansas City's got to get their wide receivers right, but they're good.
Philadelphia is five, a little bit of an identity crisis.
Baltimore is fun.
They're banged up, but I like them.
Buffalo, Rocky first game, have they turned it around?
Jaguars are good.
They just can't beat Kansas City.
Rams are the surprise team in the league, gave San Francisco trouble,
and Washington edges out multiple teams that could have been there, like the Saints or, you know,
Pittsburgh, whoever you want.
I thought Washington going and outside of a Hail Mary dominating the second, third, and fourth quarters,
I thought it was something on the road in Denver and September.
You're a stockbroker, and you're trying to sell me Washington Commander's stock.
Okay, I will.
Give me your best pitch.
Okay.
They have a quarterback and a rookie deal who, through his last three starts, have a mid-90s quarterback rating with a star receiver and Terry McLorn and backs I like.
They have an excellent defensive line and their best linemen on the edges coming back.
a veteran head coach.
The margins are slim, but offensively they have been a little better than I thought
defensively should get better as they get healthier.
That's pretty good.
I don't think they're a great.
When you get to 10, like I thought about Detroit, but I'm like, you know, they lost at home
to Seattle.
I thought about the Chargers, but they're owing to, at some point winning matters.
Washington's 2 and 0.
And by the way, they look terrible against Arizona.
Arizona dominated the New York Giants for a half.
Maybe Arizona, young, feisty new coach.
Maybe they're a little better than we think.
So Baker Mayfield is going to text you after the show.
Colin, how do you have Washington ahead of us?
We choked out the Vikings in their own building.
That's a good win.
And then, you know, we shut down Justin Fields.
Come on.
Now, if Tampa goes 3 and 0, but there are things.
Well, they be Philly.
They're definitely in the time.
There are things that are sustainable.
Live below your means.
Put money away, 401k.
And then there are things that are not.
Hey, I hit four sevens in Vegas.
Not everything that's succeeding is sustainable.
I don't think Tampa's a sustainable team.
Is Sam Howell sustainable?
I've said he's Baker with a little more mobility and not the arm.
He's got a little, he's got Baker qualities.
He'll sit in there and sling it.
Baker's got a better arm.
I think he moves at this point a little bit.
better than Baker. I could be wrong on that, but I thought he moved pretty well against Denver.
I mean, now we have an large New York audience. I'm a Jets guy. First things first is in New York.
Where are the Jets right outside the top 10? I would probably put the Saints 11, 13-ish.
I mean, come on. It's just bad old line, bad quarterback. What do you want me to do?
Memory, you know, I'm just going off the top of my head here. I think the Jets are the only team
to beat a team in the top 10 that didn't make, well, no, Detroit beat K. K.C.
but the Jets have a win over Buffalo.
I was a little lucky, but they got the dub.
Yeah.
I beat the Patriots and they got it.
Remember last year they were knocking on the door all season?
The only two teams in the league that don't have an issue right now.
Miami's coaching and play is great and San Francisco's coaching and play is great.
Everybody else, I mean, you could say Dallas because DAC has been,
I could say the first three teams in the league, let's include Dallas.
right now there's not an issue.
Doesn't mean they're great everywhere.
There's no issues with Miami, San Francisco, Dallas.
After that, Kansas City, they got to get the receiving core right.
Probably will.
Philadelphia, what's your identity?
Baltimore, get healthy.
Buffalo, can you run the ball?
Be nice for a three-game stretch.
Everybody else has an issue.
The Jags issue is they can't beat Kansas City, which is, you know,
it's everybody else's issue as well.
All right, we're done for today.
Tomorrow's Joel Clout Wednesday.
Big college football weekend.
Gigantic college football weekend.
Live in L.A. It's the hurt.

Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
