This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Thanks for making us part of your day.
Cedric Sabalos, former Lakers son, covers Phoenix now, is going to be joining us this hour.
It's good stuff.
NFL draft, NBA playoffs, next three to four weeks.
Locked in totally.
Betting markets appear to be moving toward.
Bryce Young, the number one pick, Alabama quarterback in the draft, little small.
When are the future bets come out in the NFL?
It's one of my favorite days, is it?
I think we got to see the schedule first, right?
Well, we know who teams are playing.
We don't know when they're playing.
The order matters a lot, yes.
Also, the Aaron Rogers saga should end.
Do you see Joe Douglas said yesterday, it's happening?
We're we.
I can say we, right?
Now, I thought Green Bay had the ultimate leverage initially, but it does peer now.
The Jets, the more they stall, the jets were like,
If you don't want to pick in this draft, we're not going to give you one.
So I think you suggested it.
A second round pick for the Packers this year and a conditional one or two next year if he plays.
I would be comfortable with that.
I want one-one if he plays a second year.
He's making a lot of people money that the ownership of the Jets are going to sell a lot of stuff.
He's 39.
I think you've called him a wanderer before.
A little bit of a wanderer.
I don't know where he's going to be next month.
much as next year.
I don't think the Jets do either.
Packers certainly have no clue.
Yeah, I'm really interested to watch Jordan Love play.
So you're the one, huh?
Jordan Love, that's who you're excited to watch.
I know what Aaron is.
I don't know what Jordan Love is.
But do you know what Aaron Rogers is in New York with really good receivers?
I know he had Devante Adams.
I know what he is in New York.
What is he?
Difficult.
Aaron is his legacy is completely established.
He's not winning a Super Bowl in New York.
York. He may win a playoff game, but is, I think, I don't think the Jets are going to help her hinder his
career. I think Aaron is established as an all-time great, little high maintenance toward the end of
his career, you know, but a great player. I don't think New York, it's like Katie and the Sons.
If Katie wins a title, am I going to say, wow, he's an all-time great. Well, where am I going to
place him? I'm not putting him above. He has yet to win a title without Steph Curry. Aaron Rogers,
you call him an underachiever in the playoffs all the time because they flame out as like a top
seed. They lose home playoff games on the reg, as a kid said. So if KD. wins a title in Phoenix,
who would he jump over? He's not jumping over Magic or Michael or not jumping over. And I already
consider him a better version of Dirk, and Dirk's a top 20 player to me. So he's firmly established
to me. If you took out centers is a top 12 player ever, but definitely a top 20 player.
Who is he jumping over if he won in Phoenix? I'm going to, I'll flow two names for you.
Who? Kobe Bryant.
Oh, no, he's not jumping over Kobe.
Steph Curry?
No.
I always...
Just making sure on Steph, yeah.
Yeah, I mean, so my whole thing is, it's the same with Aaron.
Aaron's not winning a Super Bowl in New York.
But, oh, come on.
In the AFC...
Matt Stafford just pulled it off.
I know it's not the same thing.
Matt Stafford just, he hadn't won a playoff game in his life.
But let's just do that real quickly.
Let's say Aaron wins a Super Bowl with the Jets.
Who does he go above?
He's not going above.
Elway. He's not going above Brady, Montana. He's not going ahead of Mahomes. Who is Aaron going above?
Aaron's, no, I mean, it's it's fair. We'll have to drill down on the list.
Now, you could say, you could say it puts him above Marino, but he and Marino or, I mean, today, all time.
Marino, Aaron Rogers, where do you go? Rogers. So do I buy an inch. So another title, he's already ahead of him.
So like Aaron winning a Super Bowl, it's established. Aaron's great and a little high maintenance.
So that's what he is. That's his brand. You have Joe, Joe,
Montana above Rogers.
Peyton Manning above Rogers.
How many Super Bowls for Peyton 2, right?
It doesn't matter.
Peyton Manning is better than Aaron Rogers, period.
I'll concede that.
I'll concede that.
Okay.
So now you could argue, does it, right now, if I said to you,
Aaron Rogers, Drew Breeze, both with one.
Who's better Aaron Rod.
See, now I would say Drew Breeze because he's all through the record book.
More dependable, less maintenance, more accurate.
Yeah.
Okay.
So now there's the argument.
If Aaron wins a second, you put it.
right above Drew Brees.
That's an argument to be made.
You love to say how Kyler Murray throws the best ball in the league.
Listen, I'm not a huge Aaron Rogers fan.
I think he's throwing one of the best balls in the league.
Better ball than Tom Brady, better ball than Russell.
I mean, his passing touch and everything.
I mean, Rogers, to me, is one of the all-time great.
Certainly a top five all-time quarterback.
Oh, God, no.
No.
Top five.
And if he wins one with the Jets, he's not top five?
I mean, you only named three guys, right?
Brady, Montana, Elway, Peyton, Mahomes.
We're not even getting into...
Mahomes, top five already?
I think this Super Bowl got him there.
Top five.
I mean, Nick Wright's got in number one.
How many years has Mahomes played like five?
Well, I mean, Sandy Gofax didn't play for a lot,
but he was the best pitcher ever over a four-game four-year stretch.
So, Colfax is considered a top-five pitcher.
He doesn't have nearly the...
So Roger's not top-five, interesting.
That's not a knock on him.
There's those that argue he's not the best Packer quarterback
ever. Now, I always liked Aaron better than Fav, but there's a lot of people in Green Bay.
I mean, Brett is a good old boy. I mean, he's had some recent issues, but he is much more
relatable and y'all and much more of a Ford and Rangler guy than Aaron Rogers and his ayahuasca
stuff, right? That's very Hollywood and hipster. I think to look up like MVP awards. That stuff
matters. I know Super Bowls is a lot, but MVP's mean you delivered the entire season. I think
Super Bowls are just one game. I think if Aaron won a Super Bowl, then you get into the argument with
Aikman and Breeze, because I think he's in that class now.
Who is Aikman or Rodgers?
Right now, in terms of leadership and Super Bowls, Troy.
But I do think if Aaron wins one, I think right now Aaron's bunched up with Favreve, Akeman, Breeze.
He's all, he's in that bunch.
And that's kind of a list.
We're going to have to do like a proper list with the stats and everything.
And then in the NBA, let's go back to the Durant thing because the sons have yet to lose
with Durant.
And so, but we all knew he was great and the best plug and play guy.
And he doesn't lose a lot of games.
So we all know Durant's great.
Where am I going to move him?
Who is he?
He's already a better dirk.
I, maybe, okay, he's already better than Malone.
Elijah won.
That's a good guy.
That's like in the 9 to 12.
I would take Durant.
I think Durant can do more things than Elijah one.
I guess.
Anywhere Durant goes, he's winning a lot of games.
The problem is he hasn't won a title everywhere.
It's like, take Howard Stern.
dominated FM radio, created a massive empire with XM serious.
If he left again and had more success with his very own called the Stern Network,
would you be like, whoa, Howard was really what?
It's been established.
Yeah.
Like, again, once you do, like he ruled FM radio and then he rules XM serious.
It's been established.
He's an all time, maybe the best radio performer of all time.
He's certainly in that class.
I don't think more success than I'm going to go, whoa, I got a lot.
readjust my list here. It's kind of like
the late Limbaugh, Howard,
Paul Harvey.
You know, it's a very short list of all time.
Marconi. I used to love
his morning show in New Mexico. It was the very best.
The point being is, once you've reached a certain level,
where do I, where do I, who do I subtract?
It's like everybody every year always goes,
man, this team's going to make the playoffs next year.
And my takeaway is, well, who are you eliminating?
Everybody thinks, you know, next year,
this, this, this, that we got to take four out.
Right.
Right?
So everybody loves the Lions.
Well, who are you taken out?
Because the Packers didn't make it last year either.
So if you love the Lions, well, who's not making the playoffs?
Yeah, I got to look at the John Elway.
Maybe John Elway's the guy to look at.
I mean, he made a lot.
Before he got the two Super Bowl wins at the end, he was Jim Kelly.
You know, couldn't win the big game, right?
Isn't that what Elway was until the end?
Elway is...
I mean, he was special as a quarterback, but I think his completion percentage pales.
Well, that's because it was the 80s.
Okay.
Best five quarterbacks ever.
And just forget order.
Let's just forget order.
Brady, Montana, Peyton Manning, Elway, Mahomes.
Those are the five best quarterbacks I've ever seen.
Tough to argue that.
And then you get into Bradshaw, Aikman.
Breeze.
Breeze.
Farrv, the wildly underrated Steve Young.
So Rogers is a little lower for you than I would expect.
No, no.
That's going to come off as I don't like, Karen.
I've always chosen him over Fav.
He's a thinking man's quarterback.
quarterback. Oh, Aaron thinks I hate him. I don't, but I don't buy a lot of his nonsense. A lot of
his hipster nonsense. I don't buy into it. I like Aaron a lot. He's not in the top five.
Now, a second Super Bowl nudges him right up against the Patens, but I don't think he pierces
the top five. I thought Fav was too much of a kind of a gunslinger, making it up.
I think this is a segment for tomorrow. You need to look a little closer because I know Rogers
doesn't have the Super Bowls, but the MVP awards, like his success, every year in Green Bay,
they're right there contending.
Be nice if he could outplay Jimmy Garoppolo at Lambo and Jared Gough.
Those were called facts.
He did not have a good game against the elite defense at home, correct.
He choked against Eli Manning back in the day at home.
I remember that game.
Yeah, the postseason has not been great Darren Rogers.
That's a fact.
This is not baseball where we care about numbers.
win games in January.
This isn't the NBA
style points.
I need to look up his playoff record. I do believe he's
a game below 500 or a game above right now.
By the way, a game below 500
and a lot of those losses are at Lambo
as a favorite. As a favorite, right.
It's different. Like, as I said,
but Eli Manning's a Hall of Famer.
Eli Manning, his playoff wins
are like, road.
He got to the Super Bowl against New England.
He's going to Green Bay. I forget the exact road,
but it was like, I felt it was Tampa
and then Green Bay and he's on the road.
And then there,
a dog to your journey matters in the postseason like eli manning going on the road hostile territory
beating bradies and top quarterbacks like that that helps your legacy who did you beat who did you
lose to can't lose to garoppolo and golf at home at the end of seasons who's he throw into in those
super bowls with the catch on the helmet david tyree Mario manningham yeah those Eli runs are
those were special as a jets fan i i can say i didn't like them but they were they were quality
I don't think these are wild takes.
I need to look.
I need to see where you have, like is Rogers 10?
Is he six?
Is he seven, eight?
Right off the top of my head, I'd say he's nine.
Is that unfair to Aaron Rogers?
I would go closer to six, but that's...
That's reasonable.
I'm a reasonable guy.
I like leadership.
Being as I have to lead this show or it's a complete circus is that I appreciate leadership.
And that's why there's guys like I think Steve Young and Roger Stobach historically,
way underrated. Super high IQ, great leaders, mature. I mean, Steve Young had to replace Montana.
How's that for a burden? I mean, people don't consider that. Steve Young had to replace Joe Montana.
Joe Montana was the most beloved athlete in a city in the country by a mile had to replace him.
Go look at the history of having to replace a legend. It's Marino, Elway. Teams never do it.
Young's like, okay, it's your team now. And by the,
the way, Joe's still in the league over with the Chiefs.
Stobach underrated.
Steve Young underrated.
You can't throw your 88-mile-hour fastballs at me and don't think I'm going to smack
it out of the park.
Aaron Rogers, 39, he's got a couple, he's got at least one good year left.
Oh, he's got, if he wants to play, he's got two, three good years left.
It's just, it's the want, not the ability.
He's still good.
But I do think, you pointed this out, he doesn't move out of the podcast.
He's smart. Aaron doesn't want to run anymore.
So, I mean, if you watch Aaron, like, he's a pocket passer now.
He may take off and run once a game, but he's not evading anybody.
He's a run and slide, eight yards, get out of bounds.
So he's now a pure pocket passer, and he was not early.
He moved a lot.
Those days are over.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day
but just so y'all know
I mean at this point
Mark this is the second episode
where we've discussed crack
so I'm starting to see that there's a through line
We also have AIDS on the table right now
So
Thank you finishing that sentence

He was an all-star and an NBA slam dunk champ played for 11 seasons in the NBA.
Cedric Sabalos is now joining us live.
Bounces between L.A. and Phoenix.
You know, the sons are interesting.
Kevin Durant is the kind of guy because he doesn't need the ball a lot, Cedric.
You can plug him into any team and he just works.
A lot of people are concerned about the Phoenix Sun's depth.
You watch their games.
You know them very well.
their personnel. I'm not too concerned with their depth. I think they come into the playoffs
rested. Are you surprised at how good they've been how fast with Katie? Let's start with that.
Well, it's been really good. I mean, Kevin is just, like you said, he's a fit and play kind of
player. You put him in any situation and he can perform. He can come off the dribble. He can come
off the screens. He can set screens. And the most important thing about Kevin DeRend, that people
don't really give him credit for. He's a wonderful
and an excellent defensive player. So he
helps his team out a lot. You can see when
Kevin was out, Phoenix's defense was
really, really down, not having Cam
or McKell being there to defensive
players that they traded away to Brooklyn.
Worrying about the bench may
be difficult if they get
into foul trouble, so to speak.
And Kevin is not a person to really get in foul trouble.
And neither is Chris Ball. I think that's
what your concerns are.
But if they stay within the course,
don't get themselves in foul trouble. I don't
think the bench will be that big of a factor.
Cam is very dangerous
as a person
coming off the bench as a point guard because his
energy is there, but then sometimes he
makes a lot of young mistakes
or over-exuberant mistakes
so to speak. And
with Chris Paul, you kind of get the steadiness
and he calms everybody down.
But I think the biggest problem is probably going to be
the big fella in the middle. Aidan is
how would he demand the basketball?
And if he's not getting the basketball,
would he continue to play hard? That's what I'm worried about.
Yeah, he's not a great defender.
So he's always felt like he's had a little chip on his shoulder.
He's not getting the ball enough.
And we've talked about this when you play with great offensive players like Golden State.
Draymond Green has come to terms with what he is and he's leaned into what he is.
How hard do you think?
We've been talking about this.
So the Warriors go get Gary Payton again.
That's going to take away minutes from maybe a Jordan Poole who's a bad defender.
Whereas Peyton's a great defender and here comes Deeran Fox.
there's maybe a chemistry issue.
Kaminga now.
Less minutes.
Andrew Wiggins, real minutes.
You tell me you get into the playoffs and now you start messing with the rotation,
what you're feeling this morning on the Warriors going forward?
Well, I think there's success is going to be going small, having Wiggins and Draymond in there.
And then obviously pool coming in and out.
But I think that's what they brought Gary Payton's second back for,
is to defend guys like Darry Fox, to defend guys.
Maybe if they get a hold of a Chris Paul or Devin Booker later on down the line.
And then even Murray in Detroit, that's what they brought him in for because obviously,
Curry, you know, being a little light on the defensive side, but we need him,
they need him more on the offensive side than they do on the defensive side.
So, yeah, I think they'll go small.
They had success in winning a championship in their previous year,
and I think that's what they'll do again.
Just go a little bit smaller, and hopefully Wiggins will get himself in shape to help them rebound with Raymond Green.
So the Lakers are interesting.
They started the year and they asked Darvinham a rookie coach, okay, work with this group, and it wasn't, and everybody knew it.
And so they move off Westbrook.
They move in a bunch of new parts and suddenly they're playing well.
I said, Darvinham's not going to win coach of the year.
But when you consider what he started with and what he's created, Darvin's had a great year.
Austin Reeves has become highly productive.
is this Laker, they've won 9 of 11.
Is it fools gold, Cedric, because they've beaten mostly bad teams?
Or do you think the Lakers are a viable postseason team going forward?
Well, you've got a king.
I mean, you've got one of the guys who's probably the best basketball player,
arguably within the top five on the court.
And then you add a healthy Anthony Davis.
You got to remember, even though Coach Hamm did not have his whole roster put together
as far as who's going to be where, who's going to stay and go.
The injury plug, Anthony Davis, a little bit injured,
LeBron James, a little bit injured,
and then Reeves comes along and just grows up in front of our eyes.
I think this is such a wonderful thing.
But I think the biggest thing is going to be their outside shooting.
When you do clamp down on Davis and they move the ball around,
do they knock down threes?
Do they, you know, pursue themselves going to the basket?
LeBron is going to be LeBron, especially in the playoffs.
He's going to get calls.
He's going to get to the basket.
He's going to be effective.
But I think the biggest thing is they're outside.
shooting will they be able to compete when you match three for three and I'm not saying go out
and shoot a bunch of threes like your golden state but if they're they went that ball around and knock it
down a lot of guys going to have to stroke those threes for those for this team to be successful
we're going to show you a piece of video the T-wolves I'm sure you've seen it where rudy go
bear now it's so we had a little bit of a scrum with the clippers but go bear now is not going
to travel with the team meaning you know the players probably went to Chris
Finch and said, hey, man, he was way out of line here.
Gobert had issues in Utah with Donovan Mitchell.
Now he's got issues in Minnesota.
What did you make of this situation?
It's tough because we don't know exactly what was said or what the situation was,
whether it's adjustments they're trying to make on the court,
or was it something personal that these two have been brewing up for a while.
You know, you've got to go back to preseason with Draymond Green and Poole going in for each other.
And I think that's why their road record.
the Warriors, as I'm talking about, is the way it is because us as players, we come together
on the road. And if you have some sort of beef between players, people kind of separate and
choose their own little posse, so to speak, to be with each other. And I think Rudy definitely
was in the wrong here, especially, you know, they've had fights. Teammates have had fights before,
but having it right there on the court live, all those cameras. I think the biggest thing is going
to hurt them is obviously him not traveling and not playing in the playing game. That's going to be a
effective for Minnesota. His defensive presence and also the way he races to the rim is going to
be very missed. And I can see if it was a series and you stopped him for one game, but one game
in the playing is really going to hurt the Timberwolves. Before we let you go, we've sort of ignored
the East today because we kind of feel like we know who's good. Milwaukee's good, but a little
old. I like Boston, but only when Robert Williams is available. Cleveland's good but kind of young.
Philadelphia, I question in close
game situationally. Do you
feel in the East the teams
you've watched as you've been in Phoenix
or L.A. and they've come to town? Is there
a team in the East you absolutely
think is a little under the...
Made for Kyrie to Dallas
is just unbelievable. And I think that's going to be
a key portion to that thing.
When you got Dorian Finney Smith's
defensive presence, you make the trade for Phoenix
for KD, and you get
McKell Bridges and Cam Jordan, Cam Johnson.
And these guys are defenders who's going to have
guard the Milwaukee
greats and the Boston grades and the Philadelphia
grades and I think that's going to be the key.
They're not guys who demand the basketball or
have egos and that could be a key for them
moving up in the playoffs. They don't have
a dominant superstar and
you know for ratings for TV
you know Colin that might be a problem
but I do see them scaring some
people or surprising some teams in the east.
Good stuff. Cedric Sabalos
11 years and all-star and a slam dunk
champ. Appreciate your insight in the playoffs
bud. Thanks Colin.
You bet.
Brooklyn is, you know, say what you want, but they've got a bunch of,
they need one go-to offensive star, but Brooklyn's got some dudes that'll defend.
They'll be in games.
I just don't think they have a closer.
Miami's interesting.
What do you do with Miami?
So you have Jimmy and Bam and Eric Spolstra.
So you have three you love.
You got two stars.
You love your coach.
But it feels like they need another big piece.
Do you blow Miami up?
If they get bounced in the first round, what do you?
do with Miami? Well run. Nobody plays harder than Jimmy Butler. Bams an excellent two to a three.
You got your Hall of Fame coach. What do you do with Miami? Like, what do you do with Boston?
If Boston, what do you do with the Celtics? Well, this is why the Maverick situation with Kyrie and
Luca Donchich is not as bad as everybody thinks. There's some teams that if they lose in the first
round, do we blow it up? If Carl Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves, let's say they lose both
playing games and they're out. I mean, do you bring that unit back? What do you do?
do with Anthony Davis if the Lakers get dusted by the Grizzlies. I know you've been trying to run
him out of town. He's been great, but they lose in the first round. Like, do you bring AD back again?
This Damian Liller situation, we'll talk about in Portland. What's going on there? There's a lot
of fluidity around the league with some players. I mean, you're right. If the Celtics lose early,
is Jalen Brown on the market? Do we need to tinker? We need to change something.
I mean, what do the Clippers do? I mean, Steve Ballmer's building a new arena,
wildly impatient. You can't build around Kawhi Leonard. You add him to a great culture.
They've been trying to build around him.
You can't.
You don't know when he's going to play.
And by the way, I've been in on the clippers for two years, but it's just not, they don't
have a rim protector, who's their playmaker offensively.
They've got get a bucket guys, Paul George and Kauai, but you don't really know when
you're getting Kauai.
Oh, by the way, James Hardin in Philadelphia, when they lose in the second round, when,
not if, when they lose in the second round.
Does he hightail it back to Houston?
Say, hey, I help get him beat maybe an MVP award.
What about me?
Nobody's talking about James Harden anymore.
This is going to be an interesting NBA playoffs that could lead to the offseason of a lot of change.
J.MAC with the news.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So, Colin, I made the mistake after our spirited quarterback discussion to open the power hour.
I made the mistake of going online and everybody's calling me a Jets Homer.
Oh, you're keeping up for Aaron Rogers now that he's going to the Jets, just because I'd take Rogers.
You put him ahead of Elway.
Elway's got two Super Bowls.
Elway's iconic.
I just quick internet search, one MVP for John O'Will.
Who cares?
Everyone watches that four.
And one Super Bowl.
All right.
Anyways, on to the story.
The minute Elway got a semblance of a run game.
By the way, also Elway, and I don't know the numbers in front of me, one of the great
fourth quarter come from behind quarterbacks in league history.
Remember.
Whereas we view.
Aaron Rogers, I think fairly as he plays a little safe late in games. Elway was the great
comeback king for a decade. I mean, he was mister. At one point, he had 44 come from behind
fourth quarter wins. So, like, in crisis, Elway was unbelievable. Big time. Now, he sometimes
got blown out because he didn't have the pieces to compete, like a Jim Kelly. He just didn't
have enough pieces to beat a great cowboy team. But I think one of the things that hurts Aaron,
he's not been great late in games.
Garoppolo outplays him.
Goff outplay.
That's fair.
An old Brady out plays him.
He's been wonky at home, end of his career, late in games.
Just to recap, and I know everybody knows this, but you win a Super Bowl.
You were better than the other team in that game.
You had to get to the Super Bowl.
When you're the MVP of a league, it means you were the best player in the league for 17 games.
I think, you know, we're almost undervaluing NFL MVP.
MVP's are voted on by writers.
That doesn't carry as much weight.
But it's based on a wider sample size than one playoff game in a Super Bowl.
And by the way, MVPs are wildly subjective, whereas Super Bowls are not.
I'm not an awards guy.
I'm just not, like Heisman Trophy doesn't mean anything.
Yeah, yeah.
And so Heisman Trophy is so absurdly regional.
Like, Southern guy votes for Southern guy.
Midwest guy votes for Big Ten guys.
Okay.
Bill Rogers won four MVP awards.
Four, four times.
Every writer thought he was the best player in the league.
Come on.
Okay.
Okay.
No one thing he was the best player in the league.
I thought it was the most valuable player in the league.
Okay.
Okay.
That's great.
That's fantastic.
That writers thought you were really valuable.
You know what?
Fans want Ws in January.
He's not delivering those.
And the Jets fans want Rogers, and they're excited because over the weekend,
you know, Boomer Osiasin, former Jets quarterback, was at an event and asked Jets
GM Joe Douglas, what Jets fans can expect.
Aaron Rogers.
I've never seen anyone button the bottom button of a jacket and nothing else.
Boomer and Science.
Interesting look there.
Your excitement level for Aaron Rogers in New York and Jets chatter on this very show.
It'd be nice if our network, the NFC, had some drama.
But I think, Aaron, our job is to discuss noisy teams and tire fires.
And I think the Jets are going to be fun.
but I think you are massively undervaluing how good that division is.
Forget the AFC.
That division, it's all right.
If Tua, I'll make this promise.
If Tua plays 85% of its games this year, the Dolphins make the playoffs and the Jets don't.
And that's not a jet shock.
How far back to the Packer, Josh Allen, the bill's coming?
They're going to win the division.
They'll tweet stuff.
I'm just curious how the staff is going to handle the Jets love when they get Rogers on this show.
because I know we got a Bengals fan here.
We got a Houston Texans fan.
It could be a lot of Jets banter this fall.
I'm already excited.
Well, first of all, it's not the Jets with Darnold or the Jets with Zach Wilson.
The Jets with Aaron Rogers are good in our story.
But now just, again, let's be factual.
Aaron in a new place.
First year is a Packer starter, non-playoff.
First year with Nathaniel Hackett.
His numbers, he's never been great with new stuff.
he's a year to that's why I think Aaron's going to play two years in New York because
Aaron's not at first of all he doesn't commit in the offseason he's not like Brady at a high
school with his teammates with a helicopter overhead so Aaron by Thanksgiving like this year when
he wouldn't commit Aaron by Thanksgiving you're like oh the the Packers are good now because
Aaron doesn't commit in the off season well he's not going to commit in the offseason to the
Jets he's not even signed yet so my takeaway is he'll be good with New York by about Thanksgiving
and then his second year in New York, that's when they'll pop.
I do believe he'll play two years with the Jeff.
I love that.
And then retire, 41.
Okay.
Next up, another good quarterback.
Joe Burrow has become one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL.
This is a little bit much, though.
Carson Palmer, you know him, a big USC guy for number one overall pick.
He said that Joe Burrow has jumped Patrick Mahomes as the best QB in the NFL.
I think Joe is the best quarterback in the NFL.
to leave and I think.
I know Patrick is phenomenal,
but I just think Joe's more consistent.
He's more consistent.
He's more accountable to run the system in the play that's called
and not feel like, well, he didn't win last time and get open for me.
So I'm going to do it with my feet.
And then before you know it, you're soft for a four-yard loss because you tried to make
two or three guys missed.
Joe is just, he, they're the talk about not having a weakness, mentally strong, physically
tall. Accurate, can throw it far enough, fast enough, gets the ball out quick, and then he can
actually do a lot with his legs. He just rarely shows it. I don't think that's a hot take. I think
Burroughs the second best quarterback in the league, but there have been moments when he's faced
Mahomes and as for moments looked as good as Mahomes. I just think we live in a world where if you
don't have a ring and I've got two, I'm better. But Burrow is the second best quarterback in the
league, and if he had one Super Bowl and Mahomes had one, and it was one-one, there would be
more people saying...
But that didn't happen.
I know.
It's mythical.
This whole, like, he's more consistent?
That is a total garbage.
I would say this.
Patrick Mahomes is the definition of consistency since he became the starter in the league.
Completion percentage, yards, touchdowns, QB rating.
Like, he's been consistent.
Well, he does have Andy Reid.
That helps.
Well, I mean, that wasn't Carson Palmer's already.
Well, one...
Carson, you can take it back, buddy.
One has the Hunt family and one has the always frugal Brown family.
We all make mistakes.
One has Jamar Chase, the other has...
I don't know, who's the top receiver?
Tyree Kill and Travis Kelsey.
This year when they won the Super Bowl.
One's always had a better O' line.
I'm just...
Bengel spent a billion dollars on the O'line in the offseason.
I'm just saying, Burrow is the second best quarterback in the league.
Fair.
And I would argue, situationally, is just about as good as the league has.
I don't think the gaps as big as everybody else.
Now, Patrick is way more dynamic, athletically, in terms of, I mean, Patrick's like a one-of-one.
So 20 minutes ago, you said, maybe it was 30 minutes ago.
Mahomes was like maybe a top five quarterback all time.
Oh, he is.
And Joe Burroughs right there with him.
What is Burrough?
Top 15?
Like, stop, Colin, come on.
That's not even close.
They're not even close.
Burrow is here.
Mahomes is way up there in the rafters.
Come on.
Can we get Burrow an MVP?
Can we get him a Super Bowl?
Anything?
Burrow inherited awful Cincinnati.
Mahomes inherited Andy Reid in a playoff Chiefs roster.
I'm just saying...
I hope you play that game with everyone.
One got the keys to a Mercedes.
One got the keys to a Kia and said make it work.
So Burroughs had to do...
Everybody wanted Zach Taylor fired.
Offensive line was a mess.
The most frugal owners.
Brutal division.
Joe Burroughs had to overcome every step of the way.
Then he had an injury.
This is not a knock on Mahomes.
but if I put Burrow with Andy Reed and Mahomes in Cincinnati,
I think you'd have similar results.
I think that Burrow would have Super Bowls,
and Mahomes would be wildly talented.
You put Trevor Lawrence with Andy Reed.
I mean, he's unbelievable.
I think Burrow did beat Mahomes two or three times in a row.
Like, head to head, but it's a team sport.
This ain't the NBA.
Let's wrap up with the NBA.
Portland Trailblazers, Colin.
I mean, I don't even know what they were doing at the end other than tanking.
Did you see some of the guys?
51 in the first quarter.
55, a record in the first quarter.
And then Damien Lillard had the audacity.
He hasn't played in like a month, it's cath issue,
to come out and say like, hey, here's what we need for next season.
I don't want to be part of a rebuild.
I don't have much of an appetite for building and, you know,
guys two and three years away from really going after it.
I just ain't interested in that, you know, being honest.
And this is not a secret, you know what I mean?
I want a chance to go for it.
And if the route is to do that, then, you know, that's, you know, that's not my route.
Oh, this is not good.
By the way, I like that Dane Dollar Hat.
You see that's pretty fresh.
Colin, how's this stat for you?
In the last two years after the All-Star Break, the Portland Trailblazers have a total of seven wins.
So post-all-Star Break, they just go into full-on tanking mode.
And now Damien Lillard are saying, I don't want to play with guys who aren't ready.
Their number one pick in the lottery last year was like 18, 19 year old kid.
Basically, he's saying, I don't want to play with that guy.
Anthony Simons, young kid.
What is Dame saying?
Simon's a pretty good player.
He is good, but he ain't ready to win in the playoffs.
So I don't even know why Dame wants to stay in Portland.
This idea that they can build a contender in the West, that's a pipe dream.
I mean, it's just not happening.
I like Dame a lot.
You know that.
You like him as well.
I love him.
The only solution is to get the hell out of Dodge, is it not?
Yeah, I mean, I think if I am Portland, I mean, you can't tell me, Damien Lillard's got at least two big years left.
Well, he's also got like a massive contract.
It's making like 50 million in like three years.
But I don't know.
I look, ask yourself this.
You're the Boston Celtics.
Get Jalen Brown.
You give him Dame.
I get a draft pick.
Interesting swap there.
Jailen Brown's a lot younger, good defender.
You're losing a lot.
All right, that's a bad one.
Let me do another one.
there's going to be a market for dame lord how about this how about Miami heat we'll give you
bam out of bayou and picks we get Dame and Jimmy Butler a true a true score because like
Miami needs more scoring and they'll always play good defense with Spolstra and then
Portland gets Bam who's a really good too but but by the way is just going into his peak for
the next six years the one I like the most the paper clips call up the blazers we will
give you Paul George will you give us Damien Lillard
Damian Lillard and Kauai Leonard would be nasty.
And that's a duo I can get behind in the Western competition.
That makes some sense.
I like that.
And what about it?
Would LeBron rather play with Dame or Anthony Davis?
AD's always hurt, Colin?
Always.
Every year.
I would do that.
I like that.
I'm just being, I think if I'm Miami and I'm like, we need, because Butler's a score,
but not a great shooter.
And get Dame out of the West.
Get him to the east where you, I mean, there's two really, really good teams,
but keep an eye on the bucks in the Chris Middleton situation.
Well, they're getting old.
It sounds like he may not play in the first round.
No, no. Milwaukee's gotten old fast.
Ingalls, Crowder, Middleton.
They've gotten old fast.
We go shrinking.
Jay Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 was big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

Okay, so we're going to do NBA's Believe it or not, like Ripley's Believe it or not.
These things, true or false, happened during the NBA season.
NBA, believe it or not, let's go.
All right, we will start with this season had the most players average at least 30.
points since
1962. That sounds right.
That would be true.
Yeah, Luca Donchich is on there. Correct.
Nicely done, coward.
One and O. Next up.
James Hardin led the NBA
in assists per game. I know he
did for a while, so I haven't followed
in the last three weeks. I'm going to say true.
Wow, you're on fire.
Two and O.
Ben Simmons
played in more games than LeBron
James. Believe it or not.
False.
Be done. Three and O. Perfect.
Perfect. All right. Next up, Kyrie Irving averaged the most minutes per game in the Western Conference. So since the trade to the maps.
Okay, again, that's way too tricky. So what it tells me is he did play a lot of minutes because our staff's not smart enough to figure that out.
Oh, wow. So my guess is he's top five. I mean, who would randomly pick this up as a staff?
You've got to get in the mind of my team. They're very deceptive and devious. They're trying to make me look bad. So they're trying to,
They find a nugget and they want to fool me.
All right.
Okay, so my, you know what's interesting?
A lot of star players miss time.
I'm going to say true.
Staff is slipped.
They can't trick you.
The staff, I can buy into their mischievous ways.
This is the toughest one.
The Warriors gave up the most points per game in franchise history.
True, absolutely true.
True.
Incorrect.
I knew they would get to here.
When was their defense worse than this?
1990. I think that was like the LaTrell Spreewell, Billy Owens. I'm just guessing. 119 per game.
Billy Owens reference in the herd.
I was a huge Syracuse fan.
Yeah, he was great.
Warriors 117 this year.
Next up, no NBA team average over 50% shooting from the field.
You know why, I don't know why.
First of all, Yokin shoots 65% or something absurd.
So he's the most efficient guy.
So I think Denver feels like they'd be up there, but I'll say true, no NBA team, true.
Shot over 50%.
Who did?
Close.
Denver?
Dang it.
50.4%.
Dang it.
Well, I mean, Yonka's, what does Yolka's shoot from the floor?
He doesn't miss.
I mean, he's got to be like 60% or something.
All right.
Next up.
Chicago Bulls average the most fans at home this season.
Well, the United Center, I went to watch a comedy show there.
It's massive.
It's a huge arena.
Okay.
Is anybody paying to see Demarosa-Rosin and Vucachichich?
You know what?
Chicago is a great NBA town?
Whoops.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, I think Chicago Bulls average the most fans at home this season.
I say true.
Yeah.
Okay.
Who is second?
Sixers.
Yeah.
Again, that's a big arena.
Mad for third because everybody wants to see Luca Donge.
All right.
Here we go.
Zero playoff teams have a home record below 500.
Okay, hold on.
Hold on.
Why did you show me a picture of OKC?
Zero playoff teams.
have a home record below 500.
Now, does that count play-in games?
Because there's a couple play-in teams that are borderline.
Let's not get into the rules.
Okay, okay, okay.
I would say true.
It's true.
Yeah.
It's a good start for you on a Monday.
Here we go.
Luca led the NBA in turnovers per game for the second straight season.
Well, again, I don't see him as wildly turnover-prone,
but he's got the ball in his hands the whole game.
So, like, he averaged his eight assists,
but you don't think he's a great passer.
So I can see him averaging two and a half turnovers
because he's got the ball in his hands.
So I say true.
Who led the NBA in the...
Trey Young's 4.1 turnovers per game.
Luca was fourth in the NBA in turnovers per game.
Ray Young's had a bit of a rough year.
They got a new system there.
I did bet on that game.
We'll talk about it tomorrow.
Sacramento Kings averaged the most points per game
for any team in the last 40 years.
I'm going to say true.
Got it.
Yeah, they averaged it.
Let's try to squeeze in one more.
125 or something? What do they average?
120.7.
All right.
Look at you.
All right.
Eight of the top 10 scoring teams are in the Western Conference.
Well, that's because none of them play defense, and they're all hurt.
I would say true.
The 7 of 10.
Six.
All right.
Final.
LeBron, we got to talk about it.
Okay, so we know Boston, Milwaukee, Miami.
Is Cleveland a good defensive team?
I think pretty good, aren't they?
I'm already out of the next question.
Sorry.
All right.
LeBron averaged more points this season than he averaged over the previous 10.
seasons.
True.
There we go.
A LeBron question to wrap it up.
Solid start.
All NBA.
Jokic shot 63% this year, staff just told me.
Okay.
Efficiency machine.
All right, we'll see you tomorrow.
