You know, a lot of times, especially in pro football, because you've got a billionaire
Starting point is 00:02:43 owner and a coach making between 9 and a half and 14 and a half million, and you've got a quarterback making 300 million. There's, you know, we all know who's got the power in the NFL. It's the owner. It's the star coach. And it's the star quarterback. GMs, Howie Roseman is a total exception. And even John Snyder almost threatened to leave Seattle as one of the top personnel guys unless he got more power.
Starting point is 00:03:08 And then Pete got pushed out. So in the NFL, we know who has the power in the league. Like in college football, the coach has it. Always the coach has it. Or the big donor has it. But in the football, you know, there's an old business saying a problem well defined is a problem half solved. the bigger issue in the NFL isn't who has the power. I mean, we know with the Chargers.
Starting point is 00:03:38 It's the owner, the Spanos family, Jim Harbaugh and Herbert. Herbert just doesn't use it. But in the NFL a lot of times, it's not who has the power. It's what's the problem. You have a problem when people can't agree on what the problem is. You know, the coach didn't, he wasn't hired by the GM. Like in Chicago right now, everybody thinks the problems, Caleb Williams. I would argue the problem with the bears is the ownership
Starting point is 00:04:01 and the executive suite. I think the quarterback's really talented, and I think the coach is really smart. You know, you can't get agreement. Howie Roseman has so much control in Philadelphia, he will decide what the problems are, and he will address them. I think with Kansas City, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:21 we know everybody can agree what the problem is because Brett Veach is a good GM, and Andy reads a brilliant coach, and Mahalms is one of the greatest ever. we just know it's a personnel issue on offense they've missed on a couple receivers Travis Kelsey's old and expensive my homes is expensive so and receivers a hard position to draft even when they got it right with Rishi Rice he does something that's not very smart and now he's suspended for six games and then you get worthy and he's really good but he's small runs into
Starting point is 00:04:50 calcy and he he gets hurt so a lot of Kansas City's issues are we know who has the power and we know it's not scheme I think you have to just everybody in the room has to go. Our problem is here. We don't have good enough players. Dave Wonstat has a belief on how to correct it. But again, I don't know if they have the personnel to correct what Dave Wonstead, who was our guest earlier, has as a solution. That Eagle Super Bowl, when they were behind by 10 at halftime, and Mahomes was limping, and they came out the second half, and what did they do? They ran the ball with Pacheco. Remember, and that's how they won the Super Bowl. ran the football. I thought that
Starting point is 00:05:33 Andy Reed would get back to that more. What's the easiest thing to do to help your quarterback run the ball? And they just haven't really made a big, in my mind, a big commitment to running the football. And my question is, will they let Joe Tuny go? They couldn't afford Joe Tuny. Well, Joe Tuny has made the bears better up front, and his loss is significant. So, I mean, for the record, when, I mean, you could probably go look this up. When Toonie,
Starting point is 00:06:00 left the Patriots, their old line wasn't as good. And Tuny left the Chiefs, and their old lines not as good. And the Bears' old line this year is better than last year. So when you have one of the, you know, one of the two or three best interior blockers in Joe Tunney, a tough guy, a smart guy, a leader, I don't think they can run the ball. I think Kansas City this weekend. If you gave me three points, I would take the Chiefs at home at two and a half stay away. but I mean right now the Kansas City Chiefs leading Russia is Mahomes and that's the problem they don't want that to be the case because Mahomes more than once in his career has got banged up and he's limping around he's not 100% I mean Jalen Hertz had that for about a year before
Starting point is 00:06:44 Sequin Barclay. You remember that before Sequin Barclay? Jalen Hertz felt like he was planted about 80% for two years and then they get Seyuan Barclay and now Jalen Hertz feels like he's been healthy for a good year and a half two years. So they don't want Mahomes to be the leading rusher. I think I just don't, I don't think it's sustainable to have your quarterback as a leaning rusher. I don't think they want it. But I think it, and this is not a knock on the GM. You pay the quarterback.
Starting point is 00:07:09 And they've also, you got to pay Chris Jones. Kelsey gets paid. Mahomes gets paid. They didn't want to let go of Joe Tooney. That was not what they wanted to do. Watch their games. There's no juice. You watched Seattle last night.
Starting point is 00:07:23 You see juice. I mean, even Arizona, I see players. I just don't see the leadership. So that's where we are. You know, but Jemak, I haven't asked you, your NFL picture at the end of the show, I generally take the home team in college football and they're two good teams. I think the interesting one to me is Ohio State and Washington. So Washington is unranked.
Starting point is 00:07:44 They should be ranked, but they're unranked. Ohio State's number one. Husky Stadium's an advantage. What's sneaky about that game is Julian saying the quarterback for Ohio State is young. He has never played on the road in this environment. He played Texas, but he was at home. He's very good, great high school player. It's just hard to see an unranked team beat the number one team in the country,
Starting point is 00:08:10 and Ohio State's got the recruiting and the NIL rolling. Let me just, yeah, let me ask you, Colin, that Ohio State win over Texas at the moment initially looked great. What about in hindsight? Texas has been middling against directional state university. the last like three weeks. Do we know if Texas is that good? Well, again, I'm not bashing Ohio State at all. I'm just starting to question that Texas win the same way LSU Clemson.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Like that LSU win looked great. Now it's like, oh, Clemson ain't great. What's a big deal? No, I mean, Ohio State running back room was much better last year. They were much more explosive out of the backfield last year. There's no question. I think Ohio State was a much better team last year. I also think a lot of the complimentary offensive players
Starting point is 00:08:56 get drafted like Ibuka. And now Smith, the superstar wide receiver, teams are much more capable of doubling him and bracketing him. You couldn't last year. You had him on one side, the freshman, you have a book on the other side. You just, they're just, and they had an unbelievable
Starting point is 00:09:12 backfield, so you couldn't cheat. I mean, last year, when you played Ohio State, you could not cheat. Like it was just first rounder on that side, first rounder on the other side, two elite running backs, experienced quarterback, O-Line got banged up, but it was good. So it was a hard team to, even if you had Tennessee athletes,
Starting point is 00:09:33 if you had Texas athletes, Ohio State was hard to face last year. You couldn't cheat. They're not as dynamic in the backfield. Ibuka is a big loss. He would be for any program. So they're talented, but they don't feel as dynamic. And now they send a very young and experienced quarterback in one of the loudest venues against the Washington team that's going to drop 28 points on everybody in the country.
Starting point is 00:09:56 So that is a, to me, that is a fascinating game. I just historically am going to take a number one team over an unranked team, but Washington's about as good as you can be to be unranked in college football. Yeah, by the way, is it going to rain? Because I know all it does in Northwest is rain. Is it going to rain at that Washington? Well, well, let's slow down. Hey, by the way, we went to Seattle last summer.
Starting point is 00:10:14 It's amazing. I love that city. Urban Meyer, big noon kickoff. He's at the USC Illinois game tomorrow, and he is joining us now live. Okay. So let's just ask you. I, anytime you go into a game with a young quarterback into a hostile environment, a coaching staff generally thinks, all right, let's get them some early, easy completions.
Starting point is 00:10:35 Let's not put them in weird environments. But that kind of plays into Washington's hand because Washington's going to come into this thing with big swings. They've got an NFL elite receiver, an unbelievable quarterback, a star running back. So I look at Washington, they're going to, their take is going to be, so we're not beating these guys without taking big swings. Ohio State may do the opposite. Let's bring it in. Let's slow it down.
Starting point is 00:11:00 And that can get the crowd riled up. I mean, are you worried for Ohio State in this spot? I'm worried about the early part of the game. And I would always tell teams going into that. The mindset is that as a prize fight. You're going to take some brutal shots early in the game just because the crowd. And you have to understand the hot spots. The hot spots are third downs.
Starting point is 00:11:21 The hot spots are red zone and then punt and field go. That's when the stadium, comes electric, but the best thing to slow down the stadium and calm down the stadium is the sustained drive. So I always tell our players, and I said this early in the Texas game for Archmanning as well, get two first downs. That's your job as a quarterback. That way you automatically flip the field and you can slow everything down a little bit, but they'd make a mistake that just come out guns blazing in this game, in my opinion, let the game slow down a little bit. How do you do that, sustained drives? And I don't think defense, Washington's defense is that great.
Starting point is 00:11:55 So I think they can do come out of the game, a nice 10 play drive. Crowd goes away in the second quarter. I think people, Ibuka is such a great player. Now he's in the NFL. Last year you had two elite receivers, two elite backs. I think your quarterback had more experience. Ohio State doesn't quite look like it quite has the offensive juice. Is that fair?
Starting point is 00:12:19 I think they're still coming along. Carnell Tate, I said, and that's the number two receiver for Ohio State. that's the biggest question mark because he's got all the skill set you need to be a high draft pick and to take some pressure off jeremiah smith but jeremiah smith had the perfect scenario last year he had a mecca on the other side he had two great running backs those are all gone so it still remains to be seen because texas like i heard you say earlier how good is texas and the last three games to me were just warm-up games we're going to find out here in seattle all right let's talk USC in Illinois. You know, you and I talked years ago about this. USC got small. And then the
Starting point is 00:12:56 NIL came. And I think joining the Big Ten, Lincoln Riley looked at his roster and said, okay, Michigan, Penn State, we have to go by size. And I got to tell you, Urban, their defensive front for the first time since Pete Carroll, they got five or six guys that are big. Now, a couple of them are freshmen, but do they look different to you at least, just physically look different? Within two seconds after turning on the film, I actually called their line coach, Zach Hanson, Zach Hanson, I believe his name is. Yeah, and he's terrific, and he said that.
Starting point is 00:13:26 He said they had a staff meeting and a focus of recruiting, went from obviously great skill that you still need that, but they realized against Penn State, Ohio State, the Wolverines, et cetera, you're going to get punched in the face. You better get big. This is the biggest and most NFL draft picks in the offensive line that they've had probably since the peak, Carol, like you just said, on the defensive side.
Starting point is 00:13:46 So completely different looking team, and I want to add this. I was talking to Matt Leiter about this. A physical offense line changes your program. How practice is different. The weight room's different. The way you approach the game's different. If you're a finesse team, your program becomes finesse. And obviously, they get you only so far.
Starting point is 00:14:05 For the record, you know, people look at Lincoln Riley and think, oh, he loves to pass. But if you go back to Oklahoma, they ran the ball all the time. I think when I've watched every snap of every, almost every snap this season. in the USC. I think they're a run first team. What do you see? There's no doubt. That's exactly. And you're right about Lincoln Riley. He, you know, he comes across as an air raid guy. He's not. I call him a spread coach, a spread option or a spread coach wants to run the pound the ball first, and that opens everything up. So Lincoln Riley, I'm telling you, this is a, this is a playoff looking team to me. The other ones were not playoff looking teams. They were,
Starting point is 00:14:43 they were fast teams that scored points. They were not a playoff team. So Oregon's going to Penn State. Oregon has not, Dante Moore, the quarterback, has played, you know, Stanford, Arizona, San Diego State. He never played in a stadium like this. This thing is nuts. You played in this stadium. And Oregon's young. Are you concerned they get a little overwhelmed in this spot against the Nittany Lions? Yeah, I've said Penn State overtook LSU to me is the number one, most difficult place I've ever been in. That white out at night, it's choreographed. It's a must watch. It's something that you need to see this. And he has never been in this. You're right.
Starting point is 00:15:22 And I taught Coach Lanting called me this week, and he heard me talk about Penn State. And as I grew as a coach, the thing you need to do is practice, and I mentioned it as echo, is the stadium's not always loud. It's loud during third down. So what do you do?
Starting point is 00:15:36 You practice that or you come up with some kind of scheme. We would do tempo. That means you go real fast on third down and not let the crowd get into it. The other thing is Red Zone. What do you do? You go put those speakers right behind you in the Red Zone to practice so you're ready for.
Starting point is 00:15:50 forward and then the other one we lost a game there in 2000 i think 16 15 15 15 i believe and that was because we got a field goal blocked and that's another hot spot so again third downs red zone field goal and punt those are when the stadium becomes unglued you better practice it yeah you know it's um i was thinking about you this week um i thought mike gunny was a good coach but he didn't pivot very well on nil and dabboe o Similarly, I think he's a very good coach. And I've said this before. You know, Bobby Knight didn't want to do one and done.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Shoshchevsky initially didn't, then he embraced it, is that nothing ruins or punctures brilliance like rigidity and stubbornness. And I look at Davo, and I watched them against Syracuse last week. And my only takeaway was they've got a few really high-end players, like defensively. But I don't know if they have the depth of athlete of Ohio State or Penn State. and they haven't gone into the transfer portal. And everybody thinks, Urban, if you go into the transfer portal, it's just to get five-star guys.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Sometimes it's to get another slot corner or a second tight end. I just didn't feel Clemson was talented, like LSU talented or Ohio State. What do you think their problem is? So I talked to Dabo before the season, and he made a comment to me, this is a national championship calder team. He felt there was depth.
Starting point is 00:17:14 He felt there. He had a Heisman candidate quarterback. It's still early. I got a feeling they're going to find a way to run off a bunch of wins and a, you know, kind of average ACC and they kind of get things organized. But, you know, you mentioned Mike Gundy as well. I put those guys in the same category because to me, Mike Gundy was untouchable. He is Oklahoma State, but Tulsa goes in there and beats him, Ellison, that guy becomes touchable.
Starting point is 00:17:39 So, Davo, I'm not ready to, that ship's not going to sink. First of all, Davos Sweeney's not going anywhere. I think Clemson comes back. Maybe it's not one of his best teams. but it's certainly good enough to at least compete for an ACC championship. Finally, Urban Meyer, and I'll see him tomorrow on Big Noon kickoff. I said I always thought the Big Ten was top-heavy, but it wasn't good enough at quarterback.
Starting point is 00:18:00 It wasn't quite as fast as I'd like it. It needed a little spice. The jumblyeah need a little spice. I think Oregon, Washington, Jedfish, USC, it was a perfect mesh. It's forced the West Coast teams to get bigger and buy size, and it's made the Big Ten fast, creative, fun, better quarterbacks. I mean, I can't believe how well it's worked.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Are you surprised by, listen, Oregon won the conference last year. I think Washington this year is going to be very dangerous. USC is backed. Did you think it would be, did it work this well? No, I thought the Pac-12 would kind of come into conference and get pushed around a little bit. That's not what happened. I think the Pac-12 teams, the four you mentioned, have elevated the Big Ten. Right now, I did something on Urban Alice on the Big Ten network that it's the best.
Starting point is 00:18:53 There's seven quarterbacks right now that are the best that I, in my lifetime, the depth of quarterback position in the Big Ten is better than it's ever been. The style of play. Now, the bottom of the Big Ten is bad. There's some really bad teams at the bottom. But I'm telling you what, this is very SEC looking back when the SEC, you know, there's much more depth. You got Indiana.
Starting point is 00:19:12 I think the Illinois team just, they got hammered a little bit. They're still a good football team. And this is with Wisconsin and Michigan State still going through a rebuild. Once those teams get back, if they do get back, I mean the Big Ten conferences, I think it's a number of conference in college football. Urban Meyer, Fox Sports College football. Coach, I'll see you tomorrow. Can't wait to see you, Colin.
Starting point is 00:19:34 All right, Urban Meyer, a friend and just a terrific work for us. I cannot wait. Husky Stadium, Oregon on the road at Penn State. Urban said it's the hardest place now. it surpassed LSU and USC down the road. JMAQ with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news.
Starting point is 00:19:53 This is the herd line news. All right, big guy. Let's get started with Lamar Jackson, Colin. He's been one of the few bright spots for a Ravens team that is one and two. Obviously, he was runner up to Josh Allen last year for league MVP. Entering this weekend's matchup against the chiefs, Chris Jones spoke about Lamar Jackson. any play in the game he can he can change the dynamic of it so you know with him it's it's always tough to play against lamar in the Baltimore region you know stopping Lamar is one thing trying to
Starting point is 00:20:26 contain him as another and over the years you look how prolific as a passer he's become I think he's completing 70% of his passes which I think he should have won MVP last year have so much respect for him. Yeah. Many people did. Maybe it's just me, but did you not think Lamar seemed uncertain against Detroit? In the pocket, he seemed to do a lot of pump fakes. And next thing you know, he's on his back because Aidan Hutchinson and company were breathing down on.
Starting point is 00:20:57 I don't know what was going on. But if I were looking at props, I would be targeting Lamar Jackson over rushing yards. This feels to me right. High profile game against Mahomes and the Chiefs. Lamar's like, I ain't letting us lose, guys. I'm going down swinging. And I'm doing everything I can. and that probably means with his legs.
Starting point is 00:21:12 I don't like the chiefs linebackers either. Fine, let's move on. Now, this is spicy. I've got to choose my words carefully. C.J. Stroud and the Texans offense has struggled through the first three games. By the way, dating back to last season, they're just five and nine in their last 14, averaging only 19 points per game. So Diana Rusini was talking about C.J. Stroud.
Starting point is 00:21:35 And if you listen closely, Colin, we have a percolating situation in Houston. They are still trying to figure themselves out on offense. They have a new play caller. They have a different looking offensive line. I still think they're working some kinks out. So he's still good. I'm not on this. I'm not in the camp of he's rooting his opportunity here to get some mega extension.
Starting point is 00:22:04 I still think C.J. Straub can play. I just think there's still a lot of work to be done. And there's some things going on behind the scenes that, that I think we're to find out about soon. Oh, that is spicy. Okay, again, I got to choose my words carefully because I don't want to start a brush fire. We don't have a lot of evidence here, okay?
Starting point is 00:22:22 That being said, there was a weird article in the New York Times this week about is C.J. Stroud playing his way out of an extension. And we would laugh at that, right? Like, oh, come on, C.J. Stroud, he's great. So he shares an agent with Micah Parsons, Colin. And C.J. Stroud and Michael Parsons really were buddy, buddy a couple summers ago hanging out a lot after Stroud's great rookie year.
Starting point is 00:22:46 And Micah Parsons had an interesting end to this offseason, right? He kind of got an argument with Jerry Jones and forced his way out of town and was traded. Do you think CJ Stroud is long for the Texans? What's really interesting? I'm not trying to start something. We don't know what's going on, but Rusini hinting stuff behind the scenes. They are on their new offensive court. Remember they dumped the guy last year, Slowick.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Their offensive line is, you know, what's going on here? Stroud playing poorly. You think C.J. Stroud is locked in in Houston. Not after your two minutes segment there, no. So he, you know, he's from California, right? Oh, Rams, maybe seeking another corner of a game? I don't know. I mean, do you think he'd love to play with McVeigh?
Starting point is 00:23:41 Very interesting. I don't know. I'm not trying to start something. But McVeigh does like pocket quarterbacks. He liked golf. He likes Stafford, C.J. Stroud. He doesn't need. He likes you to run his play.
Starting point is 00:23:54 Rams have a couple more extra draft picks, don't they? Oh, very. Now you're on to something. Two ones for C.J. Stroud. It's got to cross more than that. But, uh, I don't know. Not when he's coming off back-to-back bad seasons. So the Texans are not moving off in that easily.
Starting point is 00:24:11 But just a fun story I thought I put out there. Jay Mac. Jay Mac with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Lye News. I mean, does C.J. Stroud get more than two first round picks? I don't think.
Starting point is 00:24:27 Not off back-to-back bad years. I don't think so. If it's off great years, it's worth three and a five. But if you're off bad-to-back, back-to-back bad seasons, you're not winning games. You're not getting three first-round picks. two first rounders in the same draft? Well, I remember, Sneed was able to pull off the goff swap for Stafford.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Obviously, there would be no swap here, but the fact that Micah Parsons got traded, because nobody thought they were going to trade him. And he shares an agent with Stroud mildly interesting. And now Houston fans are probably very upset with us. But don't be mad. Be mad at you. I didn't say anything. All right, J. Mack around the corners got his picks as the hurt.
Starting point is 00:25:10 Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays at noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app. Hey, it's Steve Kavino. Starting point is 00:26:33 Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember I think it was on a call about what we should call it And we were thinking I'm originally calling it One of the early names of our band
Starting point is 00:26:52 Before Jonas Brothers This is how you guys remember it going down Yes I have a very different memory of this We were talking about a thing A bit for the podcast People could call in and say hey Jonas And then I wrote down on my little notepad Hey Jonas and offered it up as a potential title
Starting point is 00:27:09 For the podcast But thanks for remembering that guys listen to hey jonas on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcast just listen we don't care where you hear it another podcast from some s nl late night comedy guy not quite unhumor me with robert smigel and friends me and hilarious guests from bob odenkirk to david letterman help make you funnier this week my guess s nl's mikey day and head writer streeter sidel help an acapella band with their between songs banter where does your group perform we do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
Starting point is 00:27:45 friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is. Getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place. As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the civil war. To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery. store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway. If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job. I'm Akila Hughes.
Starting point is 00:28:18 In Rebel Spirit, Season 2 goes deep on both of those things. The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than our bodies. We contain essence. We contain spirit. How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire that is really.
Starting point is 00:28:40 really catching. You'll see what I mean. Listen to Rebel Spirit season two on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Keith Gianmanca seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad, but secretly he became someone else, a master of disguise who went on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea? It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out. Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like? No, I didn't want to manifest that.
Starting point is 00:29:22 I was trying to manifest success. Every family has its secrets. But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life? That is not the look of an innocent man. This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever, because everything that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue. Listen to Deep Cover the Family Man on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:29:58 You didn't get a lot of breaks. You ready to go? Yeah, yeah, let's rock and roll. We're now in week four tomorrow. Those headlines today. Viking Steelers. I know where you're leaning. Yeah, so we're doing six NFL six. I love the. the card and a college football will start in dublin i think this is a layup folks the headline for vikings stealers will be can we see it on the screen guys influencers in the wild vikes go viral in dublin i like carson wince a gets jordan addison colin big at get back there at wide receiver
Starting point is 00:30:37 we know the left tackle darisow's back it seems like the offensive line should do well if you look at these Pittsburgh defensive metrics, Colin, for an expensive defense, they have been rotten. They cannot stop anybody. Remember, Justin Fields move the ball up and down the field against these guys. Now, I know Pittsburgh will have something of a home field advantage in Dublin. Apparently, it's going to be like 75, 25, 25 Aaron Rogers fans, and the Steelers are a better brand, I guess, than the Vikings. But I'm confident in Minnesota's defense. Brian Flores, they are eighth in blitz rate. They are second in pressure rate. And Aaron Rogers is the, worst quarterback in the NFL so far this season against pressure six for 22 passing give me the
Starting point is 00:31:18 Vikings to win by 7 to 10 tomorrow's headlines today panthers patriots what say you yeah you know we have a lot of agreement this week the headline for panthers patriots will be mother may I Pat's permitted to own panthers call this opened at minus two it's up to minus five and a half Listen, right now, everybody loves the Patriots, and why would you not? I mean, I know they have six turnovers tied for second in the league, but a lot of that was just unlucky fumbles, bad Drake made decisions. What's the remedy? You face a Panthers defense that stinks.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Worst pressure rate in the league, they have one sack through three games. Their defense just isn't good. If you look at their wide receiver room, they just rule Legate out. Ted McMillan, your guy from Arizona, he's struggling with an injury. He's questionable. I don't think Bryce Young has a lot of. options. Give me the Patriots at home handily.
Starting point is 00:32:14 Tomorrow's headlines today. Philadelphia came from behind to beat the Rams at Tampa. The kids are coming from behind and winning. And Tampa, I don't think you can sustain it. Yeah, a little. But I have a feeling I know where you're leaning on this.
Starting point is 00:32:30 So, you know, last week, remember that Lions Ravens game? I was like, hey, Ravens killed them last time. They murdered them. They're going to do it again. They didn't. Well, everybody like in Tampa, beware the headline for Eagles, Bucks will be porched pirates. Bucks get boxed up at home. Love a good revenge spot for my guy, Jalen Hertz and company.
Starting point is 00:32:50 Hertz is one and four against Tampa with Todd Bowles on the sideline. He has struggled a bit, but I think this is the week that he gets right. Remember, last year in this spot did not have A.J. Brown or Devontas Smith. Like, come on, let's give the guy a break. Sequin Barclay is yet to get untracked, but this Tampa defense is not great. They've been winning thanks to mistakes by the opponents and Baker-Mayfield Heroics. I think that ends. I'm going Eagles 30 to 17 in a roll.
Starting point is 00:33:19 Tomorrow's headlines today. I avoid falcons at all costs. You don't. Commanders now with a backup quarterback in the ATL. Yeah, I think it was you that said last season, Friends Don't Let Friends bet on the Falcons. Something like that. You had something funny.
Starting point is 00:33:35 The headline for Falcons commanders will be. Let beijons, be bejones. Falcons get, go off the losses. I like Atlanta, Colin. I know it's crazy. But no Jaden, Daniels, no scary Terry McLaurin. I don't see an offense where Marcus Marriota does it again and explodes on the Falcons. And let's be real, this is an Atlanta team that just played as bad as possible last week. Michael Pennix threw an inexplicable pick six on like the second play of the second half.
Starting point is 00:34:07 kicker missed two field goals. Remember, in the dome, look good against Tampa. In the dome, look good at Minnesota and won. True. They're back in a dome. Those edge rushers are fast. I like Atlanta to get right, but be careful. This next one feels lopsided.
Starting point is 00:34:24 It was too obvious, so I stayed away. Tomorrow's headlines today. Jackson Dart gets his first start. Unfortunately, if it gets Harbonne the Chargers. Well, Jesse Minter, the great defensive mind of the Chargers, who's going to get head coaching looks, we know. All right, the headline for Chargers Giants will be. Y'all better Scataboo dattle.
Starting point is 00:34:46 Chargers run in all directions. Listen, you can work Scataboo into a headline you got to. He's the man for the Giants. Yeah. I just, there is some concern. I'm with you. Like, be careful. Chargers on the road.
Starting point is 00:34:57 Everybody now has them in the Super Bowl bubble. And you go down with no, no, the guard, Mackay, Beckton, he's out. We know the Giants front is very strong. Yeah, that's what I see. Low scoring and ugly. And you don't know with Jackson Dart. He's kind of an unknown, right? Is he going to come in and run around for 50 yards? Is he going to make plays to Malik neighbors that Russell Wilson could not do?
Starting point is 00:35:17 So I do have some concerns. I'm just betting on coaching here. I think Harbaugh is considerably better than Daibble. And I think Jesse Minter's an excellent defensive guy who's going to cook up some schemes to confound the rookie. I'll go with the Chargers. Another favorite lob-sided game, potentially tomorrow's headlines today. Green Bay a touchdown favorite and Big D. What do you got?
Starting point is 00:35:38 First bet of the week. I've been waiting for this circled on the calendar, not just mine, but Micah's, the headline for Packers. Cowboys will be ABCD FML. Cowboys can't break spell. Now, our young audience knows FML. I'm not sure you do. I honestly thought the higher-ups would nix this,
Starting point is 00:35:59 but I think Dallas is screwed here without CD Lamb, Colin. By the way, did you see how many points they scored against the Bears in the second half without CD Lamb. Not good. Zero. I mean, I know they moved the football, but that was largely garbage time because of the situation of the game. And you look at that interior offensive line of Dallas, a lot of backups, a lot of guys off the street. Colin, Micah Parsons, we know the defense of the Packers. They don't just run off the edge. They do stunts. So Micah's going to be kind of up the middle. Dak not running as much as he used to. This is a scary one. I don't think it's going to be like 4820, but I do think the Packers win this
Starting point is 00:36:33 Tandali, one of those like 35 to 10. Oh my gosh, Jerry, you guys are in trouble. Finally, great college football slate. Best of the year. Final tally here. Tomorrow's headlines today. Vanna going to Georgia. Yeah, you know, I wanted to go Washington, Ohio State. There's, you know, obviously some really great games, Oregon, Penn State, but I'm going Alabama, Georgia, because the headlines too beautiful. The headline for Tide Bulldogs. and the SEC would be the DeBoer went down to Georgia and played them like a fiddle. I'm going with my main man, Ty Simpson, who I believe emerges from this game as a legit
Starting point is 00:37:16 Heisman contender. Whoa. I know they lost to FSU. It's not like Simpson was terrible. By the way, nine touchdown, zero picks, 71 percent completions. Remember what Ryan Williams did to these guys last year? And Jalen Milro. Millbro came out of this game like, oh my gosh, is he a top 20 pick?
Starting point is 00:37:31 I think Simpson looks good. I think they own Kirby Smart and DeBore gets the job done. This is going to be a phenomenal game. The college slate Saturday. Just keep your phone charged because I know, I know you're going to want to fire off text to me. I like Alabama to win outright in Georgia. You know, my takeaway on all this is I stayed away from the two most obvious blowouts,
Starting point is 00:37:53 which is the chargers against the Giants and the Packers against the Cowboys. Because when like 88% of the bets are on the face, favorites. So I went with Denver instead. Everybody's doubting Bo Nix. And I just, I think their roster in Denver's exceptional altitude at home. I think without Joe Burrow, I think there's a kind of lack of personality, a lack of belief in Cincinnati. But it does feel like there is a separation of the really good teams and the really bad ones. And then last week happens in Cleveland beats Green Bay. And you're like, oh, wait, maybe there isn't. So I don't know. It's funny. I do not. Not, no game screams upset to me.
Starting point is 00:38:35 Tampa, of course, at home is capable of beating anybody in the league. But I, and I think that Jets is a two and a half point underdog, certainly if Justin Fields' plays could win. I don't see a huge upset this weekend. You see this Spencer Rattler and company going to Buffalo. Bill's just kind of sleepy, whatever, and maybe they land egg. Losing? I think it's 15 and a half is the spread there.
Starting point is 00:38:58 I wouldn't bet that with your money. If you said, Jay, here's 1,000. I'm not doing it. I just double-digit spreads are dangerous. Well, it's just also, I mean, Seattle dominates most of the early game last night and finds themselves tied late. I mean, that's, that's, it's not college football like you. There's dudes everywhere.
Starting point is 00:39:15 Arizona's got six or seven great players. I think it was 20 to six with six minutes left. Yeah. And suddenly, you're, you win in a walkoff. Welcome to the National Football League. First things first is around the corner. Urban Meyer was great. Appreciate it that.
Starting point is 00:39:29 Plus Dave Wonstap. Hey, guys. It's us, the Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts.
Starting point is 00:39:45 We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick.
