There were some other big-time games that are going to have a huge effect on not only the rankings, but the playoffs as we go here and a few results now that a couple more teams have lost. It's amazing looking at the playoff indications and what could actually happen. Oklahoma survives West Virginia last night.

They're in the Big 12 to keep them in the race, but you look at Clemson and the ACC, going down to an NC state team that really struggles at quarterback in overtime. And if you're looking at Oregon, if you're looking at Notre Dame, if you're looking at Cincinnati, now how huge is that Notre Dame Cincinnati game? To me, it's almost a default plan or survive and advanced type sudden death match. So I love all the narratives that are building up, not only within the SEC, but throughout the country. And it's really looking every day like the SEC is probably going to get two teams in this thing. but I want to start with LSU and Mississippi State.

And this is a game, obviously huge for both programs. Mississippi State coming off that devastating loss to Memphis coming back home. With the Cal Bells, LSU come into town, a team that Mississippi State embarrassed on national TV week one. And the first drive was crucial in this game. We talked all week on the show. Make sure you subscribe weekdays, two to three centralist, three to four Eastern, the Jayboy Show and the volume YouTube channel. But if you watch the beginning of that game, Mississippi State can,

came out and was putting together a really nice drive. LSU forces a fumble right when they get in LSU territory, basically, takes it over. Max goes and scores, Kishan Boutte, who to me is almost underrated while receiver in the country. If you look at his final numbers, he did only have 85 yards, but had a couple scores. And he's the one guy that LSU has really on the outside that everybody knows and everybody knows you have to bracket. Well, if I know you have to bracket that guy and you still can't slow him down, I know that's taking the double somewhere else and that's setting up a matchup for me on the other side of the field, even though I still think LSU, who's now 3 and 1, 1 in the SEC, really right of the ship after that loss to UCLA.

But they need other guys to step up, especially at running back. You know, it's funny when you look at these numbers in LSU ended up winning 28 to 35. We all know Mississippi State's an air raid-style team. They ran the ball one more time than LSU did. What's crazy is if you look at these final numbers just from a rushing standpoint, and who did what from a rushing standpoint? Davis Price had 13 carries, 51 yards, no tuts.

Johnson had eight carries, 51 yards, no tuds. The longest rush in this game was 18 yards. But if you count up the attempts, and I'm going to talk about the attempt by the quarterback. You know, Max Johnson hit up with negative 10 yards, this, that, and the other. But between Armani Goodwin, Corey Kiner, who I think needs more carries, and Davis Prize, you had 22 carries by the running backs for, you know, not a mathematician, but 51, 14, and 11, it's going to give you 76.

That's not going to win the LSU ballgame. They're putting too much on Max Johnson, and they were able to get away. with it against Mississippi State, even though Mississippi State had a pretty decent comeback. I mean, we know Mississippi State's not going to run the ball. We know that's not their back. But, I mean, if the running backs at Mississippi State got more carries than the running backs at LSU, just think about that for a second. Just really think about that for a second.

So while it's a good win for LSU, they needed that. It gets them back on the board, and we're going to look at this schedule as it goes. They've got to get more out of the running game. because asking Max Johnson to do it against Bama and some of the teams they're going to play in Ole Miss to try and keep up in that scoring shootout that we know it's going to be, you've got to make some runs in there and have success.

So we all talk about one-dimensional on the show. It's a big one for LSU, and if you're Mississippi State, you start out 2-0, you have that comeback win against LaTec. NC State comes to the time. The team that just beat Clemson, okay, and you dominate them. And then you go to Memphis and lose. and then you lose at home against LSU.

And if it doesn't start getting turned around here soon in Starkville, you're going to start hearing whispers now. Do I think they should do something with Leach? Hell, no, I don't think they should. But we all know in the SEC in this nuclear arms race, the longevity of head coaches that don't succeed, especially in the Gauntlet that is the SEC West, not only you're not succeeding, you're falling even further behind.

So I'm going to be interested to see how it plays out in Starkville. Missouri. You know, there's always good and bad surprises. That's one of the preseason when we talk about these teams until you actually go out there and you see them play, you see him tackle, you see them block up front, whether it be pass pro or run blocking. You just see him play, you really never know.

And I think Missouri offensively is better than they were last year. I think Basilac's better than he was last year, even though the decision he made at the end of this game was baffling to me. but defensively Missouri, outside of Vanderbilt, and, you know, Auburn's in there, too, and I'm going to get to that. Outside of Vanderbilt, Missouri may have the worst defense in the SEC. I mean, they made multiple guys, Garwo, they made Levy, that looked like the best running backs on the planet. And it wasn't just getting, you weren't just getting bold over up front by the offensive line. You were missing tackles, getting dragged.

I mean, that touchdown they scored it. If you watch, Missouri was slant almost the whole game. And they guessed right, almost the whole game. But listen to these numbers. I'm going to take you through the first quarter through the fourth quarter for Boston College. They scored 7, 10, 10, 7, 7 in overtime. They scored a touchdown in every period. As opposed to Missouri, who had 14 in the first, 3 in the 2nd, 0 in the 3rd, 17,

the fourth, zero in OT. That tells me Boston College was just consistent. They were just applying pressure. We talk about gravity, right? We always talk about gravity. Well, this was gravity. And hats off to Boston College. Jeff Hathley is going to get a big time job eventually. Going to get a really big time job. They're 4 and 0. They may win the ACC. How crazy would that be? Welcome to 2021. Georgia and Vanderbilt. You know, in some states, this is considered assault. Just luckily, I guess, in Tennessee it wasn't. I've seen a lot of beatdowns. I've seen a lot of elite teams play FCS schools and just beat them to sleep. It's been a long time since I've seen a starting quarterback.

Basically get pulled not because of bad play, but because the beatdown is so bad with three minutes left to go in the first quarter. I took Georgia minus 34 this week. They were covering after the first quarter. It was 35 to nothing. Vanderbilt scored as many points as Ole Miss, and Ole Miss was on a pie. And I don't mean that, you know, to poke fun at Vanderbilt, but the product on the field, and it's sad because you remember the James Franklin years, Vandy was relevant.

They were. But this, it's getting to a point where it's going to have to be addressed from a football standpoint. And now you're going to hear people say, oh, baseball and women's bowling and quidditch or whatever else, you know, they're great at. Look, at the end of the day, with the way these conferences are expanding and the way this money is getting thrown around, Vandy, from a football standpoint, is basically like one of the three kids inheriting money, the youngest one, that has no ambition. And he's just going to take the money and then, I don't know, go draw on the sidewall. walk with chalk. Vandy's that guy right now

in the SEC. And I know, oh, they're a founding member. Do you know how many founding members of things have been kicked out if they're not producing when it's at its highest point? I mean, let's just really think about this. How many people who were there at the beginning

got squeezed out? I mean, you can look at Facebook. I forgot the guy's name. He was there with Zuckerberg at the beginning. Hey, it's not going the way we wanted. here's your settlement. We really appreciate your time. Please, you know, enjoy the American conference.

Because the product that Vanney's putting on the field right now, and I know George is really good. They are really good. But that was like watching the Steelers play a powder puff team. Good job by Stetson Bennett, aka the accountant, coming in, dropping a 150 piece. Just getting them through the game. And I don't want to spend too much time on this.

but this was one of the worst beatdowns I've ever seen the SEC and if Vanderbilt is going to put that product out on the field and look I'm not blaming Clark Lee I'm going to talk about Derek Mason here in a second but that product was just it wasn't even competitive and it wasn't even close and something something needs to get pushed in a certain area there

in my opinion Southern Miss and Bama excuse me another beat down but shout out my brother Blaine took Southern Miss over six and a half for the game, hit by the second quarter, and they threw another one on a little cherry on top there on the fourth. Bama came out, 100-yard kickoff return to start the game, and this wasn't a close matchup. But this was a beatdown that looked like a normal beat down, as opposed to the Georgia Vandy one.

Southern Miss just couldn't hang. You know, Keyes came in through for 131, ran for 41, but they had no chance. And it just is what it is. That is what it is. But I do think Will Hall has a chance to get that thing going. I do think he's a heck of a coach and just going to continue to watch his progress. A guy that we've had on the show does it the right way. Really does it the right way.

Now, let's get to Georgia State and Auburn before I get into the meat of these schedules. And I'm going to try and put this in the best way and not be too long-winded on it. We're going to be talking to Bo Necks. We're going to talk about this quarterback battle, this quarterback situation all week. Okay, there's a bunch out there right now. But I want to say this. Bo Nix is not Auburn's only problem. If Bo Nix was Auburn's only problem, it'd be fantastic for Auburn.

T.J. Finley came in, took him on a game, went and drive, 98 yards. There was some craziness to it. It wasn't the sharpest drive, but, you know, he came in and did it. But when I look at this Auburn team, the first thing that stands out to me isn't even offensively. it's defensively. If you're Derek Mason and ultimately Brian Harsen, this is your responsibility.

And we talked about all during the offseason, how big of a hire Derek Mason was because he could finally just focus on defense because we all know the natural disaster that Vanderbilt was. Derek Mason was brought to Auburn to focus on defense.

Look great against Akron, but so could a group of 11-year-olds have put their mind to it. You look great against Albuhran. Alabama State, well, congrats. But in the games, and Georgia State's not even, this shouldn't even have been close. In the last two games, Auburn has looked lost. And the scariest part is, you got beat in zone a ton against Penn State,

letting tight ends ride. You got beat a lot in man. You were busting coverages in man against Georgia State. that's the scary part when you're when you're busting man because guys listen man coverage this is not you know Pythagoras trying to figure out

a theorem we just call it cat coverage I have this cat you have that cat he has that cat he has that cat and hey free if it's one or it's man free you're in the sky bud deeper than the deepest keep grain and ground read the eyes but Auburn struggles to do that

Auburn was struggling to line up on defense but the worst part. The scariest part. The part when you're heading down to LSU and it should scare you have to death part is that there is still no pass rush. And the defensive line, it's a problem right now. Not only rushing the passer.

And look, not having Zocobie, not having Papo, that hurts you in the middle. Auburn's backup linebackers did not play well at all. They didn't play well at all. Wooten came on in the second half. He struggled at the beginning. But when you can't rush the passer, Auburn, Auburn just, it looks like right now they don't have the guys. Derek Hall, and this is something that shocks me. Nick Easton gets hired, he gets brought in.

Derek Hall still throws no pass rush moves. Still throws nothing. I'm just to try and run around you. It doesn't work consistently. You know, you saw a couple guys flashed. 55 was flashing a little bit. but Auburn does not have pass rushers that are effective right now. Is that a challenge?

Of course it's a challenge. It's always a challenge. Every week is a challenge. But not getting off blocks in the run game. How many defensive linemen did you say, Kobe Wooden, where are you at? You're supposed to be the guy? And I know they're kind of leaning toward your side a little bit,

but that's the guy everybody expected to come on. And if you're Derek Mason, you better get down on the field, bud. Excuse me. Because it's obviously not working. I mean, the lack of communication, the lack of intensity, especially in the first half. The Tucker Gregg kid from Georgia State, I bet he was shocked. About half the times he grabbed the ball, seeing the holes that were open. Because there were sometimes where he was just hitting in one getting touched until somebody chased him down in the secondary.

It just looks unorganized on defense to me. Doesn't look unorganized. Doesn't look fun. and Derek Mason's got a lot of work to do. Because, you know, the fans are going to think what the fans are going to think, but the eyes are going to see what the eyes are going to see. And Auburn defensively is not good right now. It's not good at all.

And it starts up front. And all the talking and all the Twitter in and all the Instagram and, look, it is what it is. You're the making plays, you're not. And that turns us to the offense. I'm going to tell you who I think the started quarterback should be at Auburn. here later in the week, but I'm going to give you a couple of reasons why each one should before we move on from this game.

Because we're going to talk about this all week. I do want to say Auburn wide receiver room, it's just, I guess, going to have to be by committee. There isn't, I haven't seen a dog in there. I haven't seen a guy like we talked about last week that strikes fear into an opponent. Auburn's about to go play LSU next week. Watch Bouté. He strikes fear into you. Who strikes fearing you out of Auburn's wide receiver group?

I'll give you a better one. Who strikes fear to you out of Auburn's whole offense? Tank? Yeah. Jarkwez Hunter? I'd say yeah. What wide receiver does? Tough answer, huh?

Had to think about it. But let's start with T.J. Finley. Guy came in as a transfer this summer. He does a lot of talk about Bo Nix this way and that way. comes in, stagnant on a couple drives, leads you on a 98-yard touchdown drive. It was very good improvisationally. Knee almost hit the ground on that third down, I think, in nine that he got out, made a couple big throws, including the one on fourth down, which was wild.

He literally pulled the stanky leg on a guy in the back field, whipped around, through the ball in his home for a touchdown. He gives you hope. It gives you something different. gives the defense something a little bit different. He saw the way the players were celebrating with him on the sidelines. That's a real thing. Kind of gives Auburn a little different mojo.

Not a fleet of Bo Necks, but it's got a huge arm. And has shown himself to be, at least as accurate, as Bo Nex, who did not have a good day. But another thing that T.J. Finley brings to you, I think he brings some juice. Again, I'm looking at the way the other players respond. That's what I'm looking at. And like I said, that's a real, tangible thing.

Is that something that can sustain? Well, we'll find that out with more reps. We'll find that out when more plays. And how about the storyline of the LSU transfer quarterback going on the road and playing at LSU, which I don't think he's going to start, but if he was, How about that storyline to try and break a streak in Death Valley? Now, Bo Nix, he's been your leader.

He's won a lot of games. His offensive line has not done a very good job, like we thought. He's put some receivers in positions to make catches, which they haven't. But he's also left something to be desired. He's selling a lot of his back foot yesterday, a lot of his back foot. Started kind of running around a little bit. You saw some regression back to the last. last year.

But the thing about Bo Nix that I don't understand, he's got to use his legs more. Bo Nix isn't the guy you want just sitting in the pocket trying to pick people apart in the passing game. That's not his, to quote us in Powers, that's not his bag, baby. He could beat you from the pocket a little bit at times, and that's good to have that.

But he's got to tuck it and go. Look, you got to back up. You got to be aggressive with your feet. It's part of who you are. It doesn't make you a worse quarter. but it's part of who you are. He's got to start using his feet more. And he has experience.

He has the most chemistry with the receivers. And the ball handling has been pretty good with Tank and Jarrequess and now Shivers. So just a couple of things to keep an eye on. We're going to hit this all through the week. Booster Club, get ready. Get ready. All right, moving on. A couple more SEC games.

Tennessee in Florida went about how I thought. And we're going to keep talking about this with Tennessee. Came out, both teams scored, bang, bang. End up being 10-7 in the first quarter. I took the under at 63.5. It was at 52 because Tennessee's system does not allow them with the personnel they have to be effective in the second half. Another week of it.

Another week. Let's go through Tennessee by scoring, by scoring. By quarter. First quarter, seven, second quarter, seven, third quarter, zero, fourth quarter, zero. Let's look defensively. They give up 10 in the first, seven in the second, 14 in the third, and seven in the fourth when the game was over. If you're going to operate at warp speed, you have to have the personnel not only offensively but defensively to do it. And this is going to happen to Tennessee in every game they play against somebody that's worth their salt, especially somebody that can run the ball.

You're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, not from that that system can't work, but it's not going to work with the personnel you have. You're being stubborn. Or to quote the kids nowadays, you're doing way too much. I don't think Hendon Hooker was terrible. Thought he gives him a better chance than Joe Milton.

But you saw the way, and I said this, all week and on the live stream, exactly how this game is going to go. And that's how it's going to continue to be for, Tennessee. And you're going to continue to get the back and forth a quarterback. You can't 3D print people to add to the defense for depth. So the answer is how you hold the ball in offense. But they're not going to do that. I'm telling you right now they're not going to do that. And you know, Florida, it's funny. We also talked about how Florida got up for Alabama,

how well they played. Florida played good in this game. They played good in this game, got the win, sound lead, the way they needed to. You know, they were up, if you looked at halftime, it was 17, 14, then that third quarter they pulled away 14 and nothing as Tennessee kind of dissipated as their depths, you know, would lend you with the style that they run. Biggest question is, Ford and Kentucky. And wouldn't it just happen that you get it this weekend? You know, we were going to call it separation Saturday, but the more I look into it,

It's starting to feel like a storyline Saturday. There's so many different storylines out there. It's like a limited snicket book. I cannot wait. So Florida moving forward. A lot of confidence. Three and one. Back to one in the SEC after that close loss to Bama. huge weekend for them going to Lexington. Kentucky did what they had to do at South Carolina. Apparently, I'm going to get to that in a second. But this is going to be a hell of a weekend,

and we're going to see if Ford can do it on the road. Because their schedule's pretty road-heavy on the back half. It seems like every game they've played has been in the swamp. But a really good job by 40. You know, Richardson, you wonder how much he's going to get when he does get back. And I think Hooker's kind of proven himself as the guy, which, you know, I'll give this to Tennessee earlier. At least they connect on some deep balls.

You know, there's been more overthrows for them early in the season on people that were open. So they connected on a few of them. And it was good to see. But Tennessee is just not there from a personnel standpoint. From a system standpoint with that personnel. And that's the story. And Dan Mullen, Fortas kind of found their groove. You're really seeing where personnel fits identity once you find that identity with Florida.

and you're seeing the exact opposite of Tennessee. The exact opposite. And it's going to take time for Josh Hypo and they better get them in there. It's where the transfer portal can be huge. Look at Arkansas. I'm going to get to that game right after this one. Kentucky and South Carolina. Tight.

But Kentucky survives, 4 and O Kentucky. You know, Will Levis only through for 102. Very interesting. Chris Rodriguez, guy that's got a hold on the ball more. Went for 144. Wandel had 65 through the year. Doty 158 for the Game Cocks through the 8. Kevin Harris, the great Kevin Harris.

At the beginning of the year, oh, he's the best back in the SEC. I don't think he's the best back on his own team. Wasn't the best back in this game. The second line drops to 0-1-2 in the SEC. I do love Shane Beamer. It's just going to take time there, but Kentucky survive in advance. Survive in advance. You know, we mentioned this to take the next step as a team.

Everybody always assume it's to beat the, bigger teams. And that's a ton of it. Yes, that's the one that gets the most press and and that's the one that gets the most buildup. But you have to make your layups. And going on the road, not that this is going to be easy, but compared to the other games that Kentucky plays, this one was a whole heck of a lot more winnable than some of them that you're going to find. The defense showed up for Kentucky, shut him out the first half, was 10 to nothing. Blaine snuck by, had a minus 5. five and a half, they won by six, 16 to 10.

But you've got to give your hats off to South Carolina's defense as well. I mean, they gave up nine points, second through the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, lost, but this game was one that Kentucky had to win. It was ugly. This was not a Michelangelo painting by any stretch of the imagination. It was more like me in first grade with a bunch of markers trying to waste time. But it worked. But it worked.

and you advanced. Now we're going to see against Florida. Can that Kentucky offensive line give Levice enough time, and I know they're going to move the pocket around. I know Liam Cohen, the OC over there, has been saving a couple bullets for this one. But can Ali step up outside?

Can Kentucky score enough points and stop the run enough to win this game against Florida? That's the recipe. The remedy, the antidote, whatever you want to call it. That's what this game will come down to next week. Because I don't think Emery Jones is going to pass forward to a win in Lexington, but he can for damn sure run them to one.

And that offensive line's really feeling themselves right now, and they should. Pierce is running the ball good. We know the talent they have at the running back position. I got a weird feeling this could be a pretty high-scoring game. As crazy as that sounds right now, I think it could be a pretty high-scoring game. So it was good at Kentucky. You get on Mark Stubbs going out there to decide. Carolina getting the wind and move to 4-0-2-0 in the SEC for South Carolina and the Shane

And that brings us to the last game I'm going to cover today on the Sunday recap. One of my favorite shows to do

is we going to talk about everything. Arkansas, really just, it was like on one of those mobster movies where the same guy just gets beat up the whole movie by different people. That's what it was like watching this yesterday. It's like, oh, hey, I'm walking in the store.

Oh, you're getting beat up. Oh, hey, I'm finally home. Oh, you're getting beat up. Oh, hey, I'm stuck in the library. I'm not going to, oh, you're getting beat up. Arkansas wanted that game more from the jump. You can not only see it, but you could hear it. in Isaiah Spiller's postgame comments to the media. He said, well, now we know the little things in practice.

Not of the most. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You guys are supposed to be on a national championship run. This is supposed to be the year you take down Alabama. What do you mean you're just finding out now that the little things in practice are important? You know that. We heard Jimbo talking about it up and down at SEC Media Days. So either it's just a run-of-the-mill answer and it's word salad and it's something else,

or you guys got complacent. And I just don't see a world in where you have to get over the Alabama hump that for one second, you could be complacent. But there's a lot bigger problems at A&M right now, and they're offensively. And I do, I want to make for sure that this does not take away from the way that Arkansas played. Arkansas won that game. they won that game, just like they won the Texas game, and they deserve to win it.

And what Sam Pittman has done in Arkansas, I mean, it's magical, to be honest with you. I mean, that's the first time we've seen Arkansas look like a legitimately good football team in a long time. In all phases. Barry Odom with the defense. Kendall Browns with the offense. But I want to start with A&M.

Offensively. Wall Spiller went for 95, and I get it. you know, I get it. They're still not running the ball effectively, especially on first down. And A&M fans will tell you that. And the whole theme, when we were talking about this game all week,

was who can become less one-dimensional. And the answer was easy. It was Arkansas. Wasn't even close. And we get to what KJ. Jefferson played in a minute, because to me, he was the biggest winner all weekend. But if you're A&M, I went 12 for 95 and a touch.

Had a nice game. Had that long run. A lot of it was on one run. It was a 70-yard run. A-Chane ends up with five for 24 yards. We know Calzada is not a runner. Calzada went 20 at 36 for 151 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception. A&M has a ton of problems offensively.

The run game is one of them. Jalen Watermeier finishes with one catch for 18 yards. The guys who led the team in receptions. A chain was six Spiller with five No receiver scored a touchdown So while Calzada can be effective through the air His decision making is still a little shaky

And he does leave the pocket a little bit early Runs from ghosts a little bit Young guys tend to do that sometimes But this team was supposed to be able to rely On the run game Even with Haynes King going down And I know Haynes King going down hurts and it takes away the element of them knowing the quarterback can run,

therefore they can focus more on the running back, running the ball. I do get that. It's worth a player on the field. But it just shocks me that this offensive line, you saw Jemir Johnson come off late, but it shocks me that this offensive line hasn't been able to put it together. Or have some, at least, you know, a dominant quarter or something to get some mojo or some chemistry going.

We haven't seen that. And now that they've lost the game, How are they going to repel themselves back up? Because the lineup, well, we got to start doing the little things better in practice. If you haven't been doing that, you don't deserve to win, you don't deserve to be a family, you don't deserve to be the national championship talk. And I hope it's not that. Knowing Jimbo the way that I do, I'd be very surprised if it was that.

So the lack of run game is killing A&M because then it's all on Calzada and he doesn't have the personnel or right now the experience and ability to be able to be somebody like a Johnny Manzell or somebody that can spark, you know, that's going to throw for 3.50 and four touchdowns and keep you in the game and not only keep you in the game, but make the heady and moxie plays to win big games. October 9th looks a little bit different right now, isn't it? It's funny, everybody was talking about October 9th before the year. Now they're all talking about October 2nd.

It's when Bama plays Ole Miss. and I'm looking at A&M right now and I'm wondering where they fall in the pecking order of the SEC West. Hit me up on Twitter at the J-Boy Show. Tell me where you think A&M falls in the SEC West. You know, we do our SEC West rankings and that every year, but this one to me, it's fascinating what's going on in the SEC West right now. The East is fun, but what's going on in the West?

It's wild. It's the Wild, Wild West. But I got to get to Arkansas. You know, I talked a lot, and me and Conan Blaine, talked a lot about KJ Jefferson and him, you know, when will he take the next step as a passer? Because he has struggled in the intermediate game, in the short game, a little bit in the screen game,

anything outside of a vertical ball, which he has a nice touch on. This was a coming out party for KJ. Jefferson to me, when I watched him. Because it wasn't just, you know, the normal throws that we saw KJ. hitting. Look, he threw 15 passes. Was 7 of 15

for 212 and 2 touchdowns. But when you want, they didn't have 100 yard rusher. Trelon Smith went for 82 on 17. KJ was their second leading rusher, 8 carries for 50 yards. But when you watch some of the throws that KJ made, that is developmental, whether it's to the outside. I mean, he made one throw, and it was an incomplete pass. He made about a 15 to 20 yards throwing out.

I think it may have been sale, which is a combination, a ton of people. use I talk about all the time and put it right on the money, right on the money while moving arm's side. Now the ball was dropped going out of bounds, but that throw right there, I thought that may have been his best though out of the 15. And everybody would go back to the vertical ball. And for some guys, the vertical ball is way easier than that intermediate outside ball. To me, the vertical balls is, you know, basically you got the eight ball sitting right next

the pocket it's on the other end of the table, I've got a good chance I can knock it down there and knock it in. But that side, though, is when that ball's sitting in the middle of the table a little bit off kilter, and you've got to skim it to get it into the middle side, whichever one it is. Takes touch, takes feel, takes nuance. KJ. Jefferson is developing nuance as a passer. And if I'm the rest of the SEC, that scares the hell out of me.

Because you know what he can do running. You know what Arkansas can do running. I mean, Sam Pittman is the Confucius of offensive line coaches. And now he's doing it in Arkansas, a place that is known for offensive linemen. And they were moving people yesterday. But if KJ can keep developing as a pastor like this and the wide receivers can keep coming to work, I mean, you saw Berks had six catches for 167 yards. I'm going to take you through the top three wide receivers that Arkansas.

all had and their average yards per catch. This is on eight receptions to the total. Brooks had six for 167 a touchdown along at 85. He averaged almost 30 yards per catch. The green kid at running back, one catch, 48 yards. Touchdown. Morris, one catch, 21 yards. So this wasn't a spray-it-around-to-everybody-type game,

but they were hitting chunk plays in the passing game. And it's amazing, right? When we talk about balance and not being one-dimensional, how when you're able to run the ball, you can throw eight passes and average 48 yards a catch. Because they're having to rob Peter to pay Paul defensively. That's what happens when you're able to. What happens Saturday for Arkansas is what all these head coaches talk about. And we talk about all the time.

It's like, well, you know, if we can run the ball with success, It's going to open not only the passing game, but the play action passing game, the passing game to the tight end, the slip off the tight end. It gets them overflowing and overflowing hard. And that's what Arkansas did. They leaned on you, loosened you up, and hit you over the middle and deep. It was just a wonderfully played and coached football game by Arkansas all the way through. And a lot of people are going to talk about Barry Odom and how good that defense played.

and I agree. They continue to put it together weekly. But Kendall Browell's deserves some props too, because if you look, guys, we talk about not fit in a square peg in a round hole, right? But Tennessee, what was Kendall Browell's really known for? You know, his dad had art,

not talking about off the field stuff, basically invented this offense we're seeing now with the splits of the wide receivers are different and going up tempo a ton. And, you know, Kendall was from that school of, hey, let's go fast, let's go fast, let's go fast, let's go fast. Well, he's been able to adjust.

Because say it with me, if you're not evolving, you're dissolving. So now Kendall Browes is able to have in the playbook to go fast, to go medium, to go slow, and to be effective. It makes you a better play caller. Because calling plays going at warp speed is very different than calling plays going at normal speed. It's like speed reading versus reading normally. You may skip over a few things or not see a few things when you're, going that fast, but you're going that fast to try and catch them in base, catch them out of position. As opposed to reading regular, you're not going to probably skip anything.

You're probably going to see everything. You won't catch them in base a lot, but you're not going to miss anything if the safety is overplaying you. If the defensive line is run stunning a ton, if there's a tendency on the back that they're slanting to that you're finding out. So it's really just whatever your cup of tea is. So a heck of a win by Arkansas. Good for the Arkansas fan base. now have big questions who's two or three in the west right now you got Arkansas a two do you got Ole Miss it too

omiss is how about this it's just funny the way it works Ole Miss plays Bama this week Arkansas plays Georgia we're going to find out we're going to find out Ole Miss goes to Bama Arkansas goes to Georgia we're going to find out Storyline Saturday baby and speaking of that let's peruse real quickly through the schedule for next week.

Just a quick preview of these games. Remember, guys, I mean, we're going to be talking about this literally all week, every weekday from 3 to 4 Eastern live. And we take your questions. Because, again, like I always say, this is our show. This isn't my show. It's called the J-Boy Show, but this is our show. All right, I talked about Arkansas at Georgia.

Tennessee at Missouri, which is a low-key, huge game for both teams. You look at Missouri, 0-1 in the SEC. just lost going up to BC. Tennessee, you're going to go fast, and you're probably going to be able to score against Missouri. I feel like this is going to be a high-scoring game, because it has to be for Missouri to win, because their defense is that bad.

I think Tennessee will have success running the ball against them. Ole Miss at Bam on CBS, 3.30 Eastern. Tennessee, Missouri is at noon eastern. Arkansas, Georgia is at noon eastern. So can you guys imagine when they were going through the schedule on the TV at the beginning of the year, And I know they pick games weekly. I get it.

I know how it works. But when they were looking at that Arkansas-Georgia game, you probably looked at it as not the bloodbath that the Vanderbilt game was, but that it was going to be a bloodbath. Not that it won't be. And we're talking about KJ. Jefferson's throwing ability. The windows, they're going to be tight. They're going to be really tight.

Jordan doesn't mess around, and they're going to stop the run. So Arkansas is going to have to find a way, and we're going to see if they can score. enough points, but you got Ole Miss Obama. You got the Trojans of Troy going to South Carolina. Troy coming off a horrible loss to Lama and Roe. Shout out to Terry Bowden, though, losing his dad before the season. That was a big win for them, big perception win.

They needed that. Florida goes to Kentucky 6 p.m. on ESPN. I cannot wait for this game. I cannot wait for it. and we'll probably be live streaming at halftime of that game or maybe a little bit past it. But that's one that is going to be humongous in the east.

Kentucky's gotten by Missouri. Florida got past Tennessee, lost to Bama. This one's on ESPN. It's 6 p.m. Eastern. It's going to be a blast. Then you got Mississippi State at ANM. Weird game. Weird game.

A&M's got to get back to trying to run the ball. I mean, it is what it is. 7 p.m. on the SEC Network. It is what it is. Very interesting to see how Mississippi State bouts them back. Because again, remember, Mike Leach just does this stuff, man. He just does this stuff. They'll go look terrible.

Then they'll go look great. Then they'll go look great. Then they'll go look terrible. So you never know what you're going to get with Mississippi State. Excuse me. Then at 9 Eastern, Auburn, after surviving by the hairs on their chin-y-chin-chin-again against Georgia State, goes down to another valley.

The second Valley in three weeks they've been to, Happy Valley wasn't so happy. They go down to LSU. Will Bo start? Will T.J. start? That sounds like the opening to a soap opera commercial. Like this summer. It's going to be a heck of a game. And you know Auburn's not going to come out like they're digging in Georgia State,

but if you have no pass rush and you can't run the ball effectively, you don't have a chance. Which LSU team is going to show up? They're confident coming off from win at Mississippi State. It's a huge game. But I think we can all agree. The biggest game of the week. Storyline Saturday.

Separation Saturday. Takes place at 7.30 p.m. Eastern. When Yukon travels to Nashville to take on Vandy in the game that nobody heard. Boy. Get the popcorn ready for this one. And look, I don't mean, you know, I don't mean to poke too much fun. but this is just a hilarious matchup at this point in time. It's almost like the Spider-Man Giff,

whatever you want to call it, where they're just pointing at each other. It's like, wait a minute. I mean, you better put the kids and children to sleep before this one at 7.30. But in all seriousness, Vandy needs this one after, and what's hilarious about college football

that will always continue to be hilarious about college football, Vandy goes and beats Colorado State on the road. Colorado State was beating Iowa at halftime on the road. This year's been wild. The parody has been wild, and it's just been fun to keep up with. And guys, we're only going into week five. The baby can't even walk yet. But this weekend, this coming up weekend, is massive.

It's massive. And if you're a college football fan, college football junkie booster club member, which if you don't know what the booster club is, it's the live chat during the show, and it's the greatest grassroots movement maybe ever of all time.
