Got an awesome show for you today. I'm going to talk about how the gap between Alabama and LSU has continued to shift and why. It's pretty simple. I think a lot of you guys know that. Andrew Bones going to join us. Talk a ton of Alabama recruiting. We all know how well they recruit.

We're going to talk some Curtis Perry as well. And has Bama lost a little ground in that? Has Auburn made up some ground? Has Texas made up some ground? That's a pretty interesting recruitment. We're going to follow and got a bunch more updates. Andrew does a really good job at Bamainsider.com. We're going to play our five weekend questions.

Then Jalen Widenmeier from Texas A&M is going to join us to preview Auburn. Talk about how Zach Kowzaa and them have gained more chemistry. The more they go through, practice, the more game reps they get, and they're going to need it with an Auburn team that's hot rolling in this weekend. Then as usual, weekend bets. We're going to bring in Baby Cone as well. He was 1 in 0 last week after calling the Eastern Michigan cover. He did a bunch of research.

We're pretty excited about that. He's got two picks, including an Auburn A&M pick that you're going to want to stick around with, and I agree with them 100%. But I want to go ahead and jump in. Got some big news coming, as we usually do on the volleyball. from all the great people at the volume.

But I want to jump in this Alabama-LSU situation. And really what we're talking about is we understand what that game has meant, at least in the past. But for the last two years, there's been over a 28-point spread in this game. And it comes down to something, in my opinion, that's very simple. LSU found a superhero. Alabama makes them. To me, LSU and Ed Orgeron, after winning it in 2019, got complacent.

And when you've watched Nick Saban win it, and you've watched the amount of times they've been there and how they're able to recreate this success and turn it into a machine, I go back to an interview and the year escapes me, one of the many where Alabama was obviously hoisted the trophy at the end. They asked him what he was going to do the next day, right after winning the national championship. And you know what Nick Saven said?

I'm going recruiting. To me, 2019 was a party for LSU that lasted all the way through 2020 and bled into 2021. And we can talk about the bad hiring decisions that Ed Orgeron has made. But I think it goes to show you. Number one, how hard it is to have consistent success. How hard it is to be able to thrive in what is the best conference in college football. in what is the best region in the country for college football.

It takes consistency. And see, that's the trick for Nick Saban and them. And it's really not a trick. It's a methodology. It's a culture. It's a way of life. It's a way of survival. And it's called the process.

But what is that? We've had John Parker Wilson on. We've had many Alabama players on. I talk to Bryce Young every Monday. And it's getting lost in the routine. Because when you get lost in the routine, what you tend to find is you become unbelievably consistent. They say it takes 10,000 hours to develop a habit.

Well, it seems Alabama has that number corralled, and I'm not talking about the quarterback in Mississippi. But when you look at what Nick Saban's been able to do compared to the way LSU has fallen off the last couple years, you can say, oh, 2019 and everything Ed Orgeron said after the game, and it's revenge for Alabama. But the funny part is, it's not revenge for Alabama. it's another Saturday at the office

because when you make Monday the same you make Tuesday the same you make Wednesday the same you make Thursday the same and you make Friday the same efficient productive moving in one organism moving as one organism you tend to play

pretty consistent on Saturday and when you recruit at the level that Alabama has when you're bringing in not only the best athletes but the most dedicated athletes and you put them in that system that's how you get consistent play from big time players. Now, LSU has recruited big time players. I believe in one class they signed eight five stars recently. You look now, including Stingley and Ricks, who aren't playing.

How many of those five stars are on the field? See, it's not just about being able to recruit the best players, it's being able to recruit the best players, develop the best players, and immerse the best players in the winning culture that you set forth in your locker room and everywhere around that facility. Nick Say, has perfected this art. We call it the blueprint. It's not just how you do things. It's not just when you do things. It's why you do things. There's always a why when you look at the way Alabama prepares. When you look at LSU and you say how in the world after 2019 can you have a 28 point gap two years in a row? One year can be an anomaly. You could look back in 2020 and say oh well look at all the

opt-outs, look at the pandemic. I understand that. But two years in a row, to me, that speaks more about what happens off the field than it does on the field. And that's why to me right now, we can't look at the Alabama LSU game on the anniversary of the 9-6 game in which LSU went toe-to-toe, not only player for player, but consistent player for consistent player. For Ed Orgeron, eventually the party had to end, it just ended a lot sooner than we all thought. But when you turn what should be a work day into a consistent party, you become good at partying, not at what you're working to become. And to me, that's why LSU has fallen off right now to Alabama. I agree. And you usually don't see it from head coaches like this who are the guys who set the culture, right? The non-schimatic guys.

Remember yesterday we were talking about a list of like Lane Kiffin and Cliff Kingsbury and the guys who automatically solve one side of the ball when they come in, right? Well, that's not Ed Orgeron. He's coming in to be what you called one time, like a father figure type, right? Like when I played for Lloyd Carr, like he's not a schematical genius. He's a father figure type who runs the program. You especially don't like to see this from program runners. You want them to run the program.

That's it. Well, it's a great point because, again, when you, they're different head coaches and there's different ways to skin a cat. We've seen many head coaches win national championships in different ways. guys that are more schematical. You know, you look at the guys that are kind of more nitty-gritty, and then you have the guys, like you said, they're the more CEO, I'm going to make great hires,

I'm going to make sure the culture's right, I'm going to make sure the development's right. If you are going to be that type of guy, which Ed Orgeron is a CEO culture, make sure I'm making good hires, we're doing smart things type of coach. He's not the, I'll come up with the game plan, I'll bounce it off you guys,

let's make sure everybody's taking care of your business, win your room, all right, we're out of here. Both of those ways have shown to be able to work. But I tell you this, Cohn, if you're going to be the guy that's the culture guy, you can't be the reason the culture's all screwed up. And that's what we found at LSU. And you talk about father figure and this, that, and the other. And it's fine to celebrate a national championship.

That's great. That's great. But just like they have the 24-hour rule after a good win, bad win, ugly win, it's not such a thing that's a bad win, but an ugly win and ugly loss, whatever, you have 24 hours to get over that. Well, it's the same thing when you win a national championship. And what Nick Saban has done in Alabama, and the reason why this gap is huge, I don't care who LSU has signed, is that's great. If I run a business, and I use this all the time, if I'm running a business and I want to hire a bunch of salesmen, and I'm not the greatest salesman in the world.

But I want them to be confident. I want them to be taken care of. I want them to be put in a situation where they can thrive, and that's my job. All right, if I'm that guy and I'm looking around and I'm hiring them, I can't go and say, all right, guys, y'all are talented, just go play good. Exactly. And that's exactly to me what has happened. And then you miss on hires. You inevitably miss on hires.

Ed Orgeron just said the quiet part out loud too many times that he missed on hires, that he wasn't watching film in what world. Even guys that are CEO guys, Tommy Tuberville at Auburn's a great example. Was Tommy Tuberville going in there and saying, okay, Alborges, here's what we need to run on first down. here's the play action game we need to put in here's the blocking schemes we need to side protect all this stuff no that's not what he did he said i'm going to go hire the best ocy i can find i'm going to make sure everything makes sense to me i'm going to watch the film because while i may be a CEO head coach that style i still know football i'm just not going in there and coming up with what we're going to do i may interject and give advice but you can't just say you know what guys we're ls u we proved we could

win it now that we've won it we're just going to keep winning it this is our how now, blah, blah, blah, blah. In what world could you ever see? Nick Sabin, or one of these coaches that has been uber successful doing the same things that Ed Orgeron has done. In my opinion, Ed Orgeron took LSU for granted, and it cost them. Well, that's why he's been let go so quickly, right? I mean, had, you know, if LSU were in a position right now where everything from a culture standpoint was in order, there were no off-the-field issues, zero scandals, and they were still losing these football games, but they were losing closely and the problem was clearly schematic because they no longer had Joe Burrow or Joe Brady, then you would be able to say,

okay, well, those are the problems that need to be solved. Go recruit a good quarterback and go recruit or go get another great O.C. in there. But clearly, there are off-the-field issues and there there's more going on. And when you're the CEO type head coach, that especially can't happen. That's supposed to be your bag. That's supposed to be what the, what the O.C. and the D.C. And all the guys that are coming up with the schematical part of it don't have to really worry about. You've got that covered. You're supposed to have the media covered. And in fact, it reversed.

Everything that Ed Orgeron touched became a distraction to the guys that were trying to do the job. Now, did Jake Pete end up being a great hire? No. Does it look like Durante Jones ended up being a great hire? No. But it's an amalgamation. It's an aggregation. It's a coalescing of many things leading to one bad result.

And if you're LSU, you cut bait. You try and flip it around. But LSU will not have a recruiting problem. They have a culture problem right now in that locker room and the way they're going about it. And they need consistency. They need accountability. And Brian Harsons got a lot to prove. And I don't want to digress too much.

I want to get to the booster club. Then we'll go to Andrew Bone. But what Brian Harsen brought into Auburn at least so far is consistency, structure, and accountability throughout the team. And you can take players that may not be as elite as other players and play complimentary football and have them be accountable, have them be able to mix up. different looks, not have to worry about a ton of off-to-field distractions, even though a lot of people want to invent off-the-field distractions. To me, that is what LSU needs. LSU needs somebody

that can come in there and say, listen, we know we're going to recruit at a high level. We've got to get in here and develop these guys. We've got to get in here and bring these guys into a place where the accountability is not just coach to player, it's player to player. Because from now until the end of time, championship teams and the best teams that there are are teams that police themselves. The coaches don't have to clean up oil spills. They may have to clean up a little mess on aisle four, and that should be that.

Well, I feel for those LSU fans who are big Ed Orgeron fans, because he's an LSU guy. It always hurts so much when you got the guy you wanted. I mean, as easy as it is for any coach to be able to recruit to Louisiana State, it's especially easier for Ed Orgeron. I mean, he's a Louisiana guy, and I know they wanted him to be their head coach, and he won the big one.

That's the big thing. He actually got one, and to see this thing unravels so quickly. was unfortunate. But I don't know. The rest of the season, can they go keep a game like this against Alabama close? Can they get any more?

Like, can these guys figure out a way to fight for their coach one last time at the end? Well, you know, I think he's used that rallying cry. He's the wells dry. They know he's gone.

And right now it's an injury thing for them. They can't three deep players. I mean, they're going out there with the fourth string nickel going up against guys that are going to go in the first round here in a couple of years and maybe even this year. If you look at a guy like Metchy,

it's going to be a bloodbath. It's going to be a total blood bath. I don't know what's going to be more of a blood bath. Alabama playing this LSU team at home or Georgia playing Missouri without Missouri's starting. You think those are equal bloodbaths? Look, it's going to be like Mike Tyson fighting. It's going to be like Mike Tyson fighting an infant in my opinion. Mike Tyson fighting it.

It's going to be that bad. I'm telling you it's going to be that bad. But what's the booster club saying, Blaine? Hey, what's up, guys? Hey, Blaine. Yeah, what's up, man? good takes. $5 donation from the DGD podcast.

Like to me that that would be shocking. But look, nowadays in the coaching world, who knows? It makes more sense than jumping straight to Southern Cal, which was like three weeks in. Well, we had the argument would he go take a group of five job or wait for a Power Five job if he gets that opportunity? I don't see him leaving an HBCU after everything that went on for him to get there and everything he said for a group of five job.

I see him leaving it for a Power Five job, which TCU is. And I don't think you could blame him at all for that. No. I got a question here from David Elam, says, how about my hogs flipping the number one player into Arkansas from Oregon needed that player who picked? Look, Sam Pittman's going to recruit really well. I am not, I'm telling you guys to all our Arkansas fans out there,

our Arkansas friends. I will not be surprised if Arkansas recruits at an unbelievable level. Sam Pittman is that good, and it's just going to take time. That's why even during this three-game losing streak, and I think they're going to get back on track this week, even during this three-game losing streak, Arkansas fans don't need to panic. This is still a personnel building couple of years for Sam Pittman.

I know Chad Morris recruited well, but just because you recruit with guys with stars next to their name doesn't mean they're going to develop. And it's got to be a certain type of guy. I think Sam Pittman has found that. I think he's found his niche at Arkansas. I think he's a perfect fit. And it's a matter of time before you see them in the top three of the SEC West and winning games against teams they're not used to winning them

and competing against Alabama consistently. If I was an Arkansas fan, I'd be more worried about keeping Kendall Bryles and Barry Odom then I'd be worried about Sam Pittman being able to recruit guys in there. You think they get back on track this week, though? I do. I do think they get back on track. You got a question here from David Heron, hashtag Ask J. But was Bama staff in 2015 the best staff ever assembled?

Well, if you haven't seen the stat in 2015, Alabama had every head coach that's in the top four of the college football playoff right now. Mel Tucker, Mario Cristobal, Kirby Smart, and obviously Nick Sabin, it's hard not to say that's the greatest coaching staff. I know there's a couple you can put there. But right now, and the funny part is that's only one. branch on one side of Nick Saban's coaching tree. You look and there's still a bunch of other branches protruding. There's more that are going out. You look at Pill O'Brien. I'm sure Pete Golden can get a job

of your chair. I wouldn't be shocked. I'm telling you right now, Jeff Trailer leaves UTSA if Pete Golding's name is not mentioned for that job. Okay. I would not be shocked for that. But look, I don't know how you don't put them up there with the best. I think they're the best. I mean, it's unbelievable. And these guys are only getting better. And I think you're going to see Mario Cristobal. I hate to say this, Eric, to all our Oregon friends out there. I think you're going to see Mario Cristobal back in the SEC before it's sudden done. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised by that.

We have a $6.66 donation from Eric. Eric. He said that. He's going to rescind that probably. He says, Huck the Fuskies. Oh, okay. Oregon about to approve the committee right. How many do we hang in Fuskey Stadium?

Look, Washington's, you know, I know they've struggled. You know, Jimmy Lake had a very questionable quote the other day when talking about recruiting against Oregon and teams like this. I think Oregon's going to go up there and play the way that Oregon is played. Oregon is not flashy, especially without Verdell Jr. But Oregon has played smart to me. They're actually playing pretty complimentary football, somewhat similar to Auburn.

I do love the dual threat ability of the quarterback. And Mario Cristobald's, look, he is an unbelievable motivator. We talk about Kirby Smart being a great motivator and this, that and the other. Mario Cristobal is a great motivator. I would not be shocked if Oregon went up there and dropped a 40 burger on him and looked pretty good doing it. I think that's Brett 7, right? Something like that. To me,

seven and a half. To me, I still really like Oregon in that game. Even at seven and a half, even going on the road. I know Washington's found something a little bit, but still I watch that team at the beginning of the season. I just don't believe in them.

I've got a question here from Colin Graham or Gorham. Excuse me. How about my Valls getting 30 and winning this weekend? Kentucky TTP under, question mark? We'll have to look at that. I got to wait until I see the TTP on Kentucky. When it comes out, we always use Fandul,

as you guys know, and I'm going to talk a little bit more about Tennessee and Kentucky as we go. But to me, if you're Kentucky, you have got to get Will Levis some easy throws early. If you're Liam Cohen, you've got to get him back on track. Last week was an anomaly, but looking at Tennessee, and you look at the way that Hendon Hooker has progressed as a quarterback, kind of the evolution of him throughout the season, getting used to the system, getting used to the flow of it. I think he's in rhythm. I look at this Kentucky defense, and I look at the Tennessee offense. I look at the matchup of the warp speed

against the way Kentucky's been able to play, especially in the front seven. The Mississippi State game with that style of offense, it's a bad matchup, especially when they're playing well. Will Rogers was hitting on all cylinders? Will Tennessee be able to run the ball enough to keep Kentucky honest the way they align defensively? Because when I look at Tennessee,

if you watch them when they operate, the inside zone, the split zone, their zone running game, when that is hot, Hendon Hooker is way more in, control. The RPO throws open up a lot more, especially the slants. So a lot of it's going to come down to the intermediate passing game and the run game when you're looking at Tennessee playing Kentucky. I do like Kentucky in this game. Henden Hooker, to me, is due for a game with a couple turnovers. But if he doesn't turn the ball over and Tennessee's able to have success, even if it's moderate success running the ball, Kentucky's going to have to score points. Why do you think

Kentucky's defense will have any better success against Tennessee than what Mike Leach was able to do? I mean, both of them were basically pick-ham games, and I know that Kentucky was on the road, and they'll be at home this weekend, but it seems like that air raid was able to do whatever they wanted to. Well, to me, when you look at Tennessee's offense and what Josh Heppel does, we can't muddy the waters in thinking what Josh Heipel does is what Mike Leach does. Sure. What Josh Heipel does, and it's not a over-sophisticated offense. It just operates at such a speed that it catches you in base a lot,

and even when you're able to adjust, Hyple and them have enough answers, whether it be through the RPO game, whether it be through the play action game, whether the ability to still go check with me to be able to adjust. And again, the run game is a lot more pivotal to what Tennessee is doing than it was to what Mississippi State did. Mississippi State passed to open up the run. Tennessee wants to run to open up the pass, but they want to run it at warp speed.

And when they catch a flaw, or they catch you in base, or they know what you're in, Josh Heipel does a really good job, and Hendon Hooker does a really good job of exploiting that, over and over again. But I think Kentucky has a better chance against this system of getting them in third and six, third and seven, third and eight, as opposed to the last week when Mississippi State was dinking and dunking them and getting in second three. And then in the air raid, second three, the kitchen is wide open for what they can do.

So look, Mississippi State played about as good as they could play last week offensively as well. Kentucky played about as bad as they could play. Don't use the transitive property. This game will be a tight game. This game will come down to upfront like it always does. but we can't mistake what Tennessee does offensively in their style with what the air raid and what Mike Leach does, because those are two totally different things. It's a great question. Yeah, if you're Kentucky in this game, the big thing in Kentucky in this game is time of possession.

Yes. Time of possession. And a good start. Will Levitt is not going to throw three picks probably like he did versus Mississippi State. You don't expect that same performance from Will. If you're Kentucky, the longer you can hold on the ball and the longer you can get that run game established and get it established early, switch. up the paces, but the longer you can keep it out of Tennessee's hands on offense and force them to maybe slow down because of limited possessions. I feel like Kentucky will have success on the

road this Saturday. And I do like Kentucky. I believe this game is at Kentucky. I do like Kentucky and it's basically a pick-back in this game. It's going to be a four-quarter game. We all know that. But hey, let's get Andrew Bone in here. Like I said, we've been update and recruiting all week. We've had Auburn. We've had A&M. We've got Alabama today. Got the rest of the SEC and National covered as we go. Andrew. If you like Alabama recruiting, and there's one nugget in here about Curtis Perry, a four-star defensive lineman. One team has made up some ground and what some people thought was a foregone conclusion for Alabama. And there's two commitments for Alabama you need to be watching that could happen very soon.

It's fun to talk about recruiting when you have as much success as they have. And why not bring in one of the best in the business, Mr. Andrew Bone from Bama Insider.com. What's up, man? How you guys doing today? Happy Friday. Hey, yeah, welcome to the Cave.

You know, the Braves parade, as I mentioned, as put us in here, but it's always good to come over to Cones and do it old school, man. You know, we like it the old school way. But I want to start just kind of your overall view of the class that Alabama has right now. Just a couple of superlatives maybe for members of our audience, Alabama fans, that want to hear about the top guys. Just talk about some of the top guys that Alabama has in the class because, like we say, nobody does it better than Nick Saban.

Yeah, I think when you look at the recruiting class, it started out a little slow just because Alabama really wanted to wait until the summer and bring a lot of kids in for visits, working through camp. And we might have ratings on a lot of these kids, but Alabama's rating necessarily the same. So if they want to see these kids firsthand, they're not going to take a kid just based on them being a five-star or four-star or whatnot. So they got brought in a lot of kids throughout the summer, evaluated them, and, you know, really started pressing for kids after, you know, really after June.

And, you know, now we see they have 18 commitments right now, currently the number two recruiting class in the country, according to rivals.com. I think probably number two, you know, pretty much across the board. I think there might be one site that has a number one right now. But, you know, as we know, I mean, Alabama is always competing for that top overall spot. And I think they're going to be competing for it all the way until. until the end. So we'll kind of see what happens. I think Alabama, Georgia, you know, Ohio State are certainly kind of the big dogs in the recruiting world right now. But, you know, in terms of Alabama's class, you know, you look at the offensive ball. You know, you got your quarterback and Ty Simpson, you know, had him locked up very early in the process. So that was a big commitment for Alabama. And not only because of his talent, but also because he's been a big recruiter for the Crimson Tide, you know, pretty much attended all the big recruiting events throughout. the summer, then also has been back in Tuscaloosa several times throughout this fall. And, you know, you're staying on the offensive side of the ball.

I think you've got two really explosive playmakers at the wide receiver position with Aaron Anderson, who they picked up last week after he decommitted from LSU. And Kobe Prentice, who's an in-state kid from Kalara High School, flipped his commitment actually from Maryland. And, you know, at the time, Alabama fans were wondering, you know, are things kind of slowing down now, Alabama's flipping kids from Maryland and not from Georgia or Ohio State. So what's going on here? And I think once people started watching Kobe a little bit more, they quickly realize that he was no doubt one of the best wide receivers in the country. And certainly had a great senior season. You also have Emmanuel Henderson, who is a very talented athlete, one of the best athletes in the country.

But I still think there's some hesitation as to what position he's going to play once he gets to Alabama. Is he going to be a running back? Is he going to be a wide receiver? I don't see him playing on the defense side of the ball, but I see him mainly as an offensive guy. But, you know, you look at him. He actually looks like Patrick Sertan. I mean, he's six foot to 190 pounds, but puts up big numbers every single week. Obviously, plays for, you know, a smaller school. So not really surprised with the big numbers, but I still think Alabama is really excited about him. And I think they believe that he can be a big-time weapon here in the future.

You know, staying on the offense side of the ball, he got some great tight-in commitments, and Elijah Brown out of Ohio and Jalil Skinner out of IMG Academy, and then Amarie Neblock, also out of the state of Florida, who is a, you know, really talented athlete, six foot four, about 230 pounds. Came to Alabama's camp during the summer. You know, not a lot of people knew about him. I think his rival's profile page actually said, six foot one, 197 pounds. And it was from his sophomore year.

and then flew up about 30 pounds and got a little bit faster too, which was hard to believe. But I think he clocked at 4, 5, 6 and 40 at Alabama's camp at 230 pounds. And I think they are extremely excited about him. I still don't think they're 100% sure what position he's going to play. You know, can he play tight in? Can he play wide receiver? Could he potentially play outside linebacker?

I think they're still trying to determine that. And you know what? They'll figure that out once he gets on campus. they figured it out with a lot of other guys who've come through in the last several years as athletes, guys like Trevon Diggs, who they originally thought we'd be a wide receiver, or Cyrus Jones, who they also thought was going to be a wide receiver, Ardarius Stewart. They thought it was going to be a defensive back. So you never know. You've got to get these kids on campus, develop them, and they'll end up figuring it out. And then you got a couple really elite offense alignment and Tyler Booker and also Elijah Pritchett. But, you know, defense side of the ball. You know, obviously, you know, that's kind of the, you know, big focus this year. You know, still some big time targets that are out there, you know, they still have some big needs to kind of close in on. But defense align, you know, big boy Jehemi Otis, you know,

you just go watch some of this film from the Under Armour All-American camp during the summer. Excuse me, it was the Future 50 camp that was at IMG during the summer. I mean, this is a six-foot-five, 300. And, you know, I'm being nice here, 370-pound defensive linemen. He might be a little bit bigger than that. And I think he understands that. The biggest thing is, you know, trying to control the weight, get into a great strength and conditioning program once you get to campus.

And really try to, you know, trim that weight down. But, you know, he's a very intriguing prospect just because he can move. He's pretty light on his feet for his size. And I think, you know, he's certainly a guy in the middle that, you know, Alabama fans certainly want to be, you know, can he be that next Jordan Davis type player? Yeah. I don't know if he's going to be Jordan Davis. I don't think anybody knew Jordan Davis was going to be Jordan Davis once he got to Georgia.

But, you know, there's a lot of excitement about Jeheme. And I think that if he can control his weight and, you know, really, you know, kind of hone in on that and develop, he's got a chance to be really special. You know, linebacker-wise, great group there with Jeremiah Alexander, the number one player in the state of Alabama. An edge rusher, you know, I think he's 100% outside linebacker. And then you also have five-star linebacker, Sean Murphy. out of Virginia, who really has blown up over the course of the last year. I mean, he started out as a five-star, but a lot of people were questioning, you know, was he fast enough?

You know, had he kind of lost his step because he had gained some weight. I think he gained, you know, about 20 pounds. He was about 230, 235 pounds. And he ends up going down to camps during the summer. And everybody's checking them in at 210 pounds. Well, he was chiseled. He had lost weight. He had gained a few steps.

And, you know, I think Alabama was really. excited when he jumped on board. And then they also have a couple defensive back commitments. Jake Pope out of Beaufort, Georgia, Antonio Kite out of Anniston High School. And then Trequan Fagance, who was a recent commitment out of Thompson High School in Alabaster. So that's kind of a look. That's not all the commitments in Alabama's class right now.

But, you know, there's certainly some of the top dogs that they have at this point. Yeah, you know, it's funny. You talk about flipping a kid from Maryland. And Mike Loxley does an unbelievable job recruiting, and there's so much talent as well in that state. You go to the DMV. There's Division I players running up and down that area of the country. But Andrew, who are a couple guys out there that may be close to committing or that Alabama fans may need to keep an eye on? Because maybe Alabama is starting to warm up a little bit.

Because, look, December's almost here, and that's what signing day is now. There is no early signing day. It's signing day and then a late signing day most of the time to see if you got the grades or maybe some kid gets an offer that he typically wouldn't get if a school misses out on somebody. But who are a few guys, Alabama fans, need to keep their eye on or maybe write down and follow because they could be part of the tide soon? Yeah, I think you first have to look at the defense align because this is a position where Alabama still needs to get some bodies.

They have one commitment in Jahe Modis. Walter Bob, who's a defensive end out of Louisiana. Not really sure what's going to end up happening with him, but I definitely think that Alabama needs to get three more, four more defense alignment in this class. And I think the first one is probably going to jump on board here pretty soon. And Isaiah Hastings, who originally from Toronto, now is at Clearwater International Academy down in Clearwater, Florida.

From the sixth time. Yeah, I mean, he's really kind of blown up over the course of the last few months. You really ever since he moved down to Florida and Alabama extended him an offer, Georgia extended him an offer. And has the top five is going to announce on Tuesday at 9 a.m. I think it's Alabama all the way. I'd be surprised if he ends up going somewhere else, but I think Alabama's in great shape with him.

In-state defense alignment, Curtis Perry out of Pike Road, has visited Alabama, three or four times this football season already. Now, I do think things are really getting a little bit more tighter with him. Probably about a month ago, I would have said, all Alabama, but now Auburn, Texas have really made a strong push for him and really have done a great job recruiting him this far. But I still think Alabama is in pretty. decent shape with him. Another guy that, you know, we're watching pretty closely this weekend

is Earl Little Jr. Rivals 100 defensive back out of South Florida. It's been in Alabama lane for a long time. He says that he's going to wait until the All-American Bowl to announce that decision. Now, we still think he's probably going to do that, but would it surprise us surprised us if he went ahead and made a decision this weekend? Probably not. It's because he's been to Tuscaloosa several times. Alabama's been the favorite. And I know Alabama coaches would love to go ahead and get him on board to help recruit this final month before this early signing period. Without a doubt. Well, Andrew, great stuff, man. Tell everybody where they can find your work. I've got to bring you on again as we're starting. Like I said, sprinkle some more recruiting in here.

Alabama's got a big one against LSU this weekend. I know the official visitor list is going to be up there as well as it usually is. He's not, look, and, you know, if you're Brian Harsen or you're Steve Sarkesian or, you know, especially Brian Harsen in the state Alabama, you know, if you could sneak one or two with the success

that you're having, a guy that Alabama actually wants, not a guy that they say has an Alabama offer, but a guy Alabama actually wants, that surprised me. I think Auburn's more in it than Texas is. But having said that, you still got to think, Curtis Perry and Alabama. But Andrew, great stuff there. Make sure you head over to Bammanessenter.com. All right. Let's get physical here, Cohn. All right. First one, can Hugh Freeze prove he deserves another big-time coaching gig? You know, I think he already has, in my opinion. In the coaching world, at least, he's thought of as a guy that, you know, outside of the SEC, because like I said, you know, yesterday you get audited every year if you have him, not that they'd block him from coming to the Southeastern conference,

but they would run through the program with a fine-tooth comb. I think he's proven that he can do it, but this would be one that kind of gets him back into the headlines. Because if you look at Liberty coming into the season, a lot of talk about going undefeated and Hugh Freeze, all of a sudden they drop a game to Syracuse on the road. They drop an absolute shocker to LaMen Roe. They were like a 32-point favorite, I think, in that game. So to me, you know, it's a chance for Hugh Freeze to get back in the spotlight, but from a periphery, from a, you know, what I believe and what I know, a lot of coaches,

and a lot of athletic directors think. Hugh Freeze is a Power 5 coach. He'll be back eventually. I just don't think it's going to be in the SEC. Do you think it'll be after this season? Power 5 job after this season? You know, if they would have this season that I think they, you know, were projected to have, especially with Malik coming back his senior year,

I would say yes, but the way it's going right now, just looking at the market, it's what the market's going to bear. I don't see anything right now with Hugh Freeze. Now, again, for some reason, Scott Frost gets let go with Nebraska. you could go from a frost to a freeze. I love it. I love it. Number two, is Ohio State firing on all cylinders right now, despite the Penn State game last week?

They're playing well. They're playing better. You watched them against Penn State. I just don't feel like they're elite yet, but you see the pieces. Ohio State is one of the few teams that recruits at a level, especially coming down south. Urban Meyer really started that coming down south and grabbing kids. But to me, they have the capability to be able to run with a team like Georgia, Alabama. Now, this year, where they're at right now, running with Georgia at least, I don't see it. C.J. Stroud, to me, still has to prove it.

I know he's looked good against Indiana and Rutgers and some of these other teams, Penn State, a team that could physically match up with them a little bit up front. You saw it wasn't a blowout or a runaway or a 44 to 7 like you saw in Indiana at halftime. So while Ohio State is making strides, that all. We know is picked it up. They've figured out some things. They've got some pretty good players on the outside. But the defense, to me, is starting to come around.

You've seen them kind of switch to more zone coverage, change their identity halfway through the year. That team will go as far as the defense will allow them to go, not the offense. Gotcha. All right. Let's move on to Cincinnati. Will Cincinnati run it up this weekend? And do they need to?

Yeah, they need to. I mean, again, after all I said, they've looked, they haven't looked good the past couple weeks. I mean, you could almost say the past, you know, three or four weeks, you struggle with the Navy team, you struggle against a two-lane team that's won one game and had two quarterbacks that were out basically and couldn't stop a nosebleed on defense. So Cincinnati does need to get back into good graces, but it's not like you're playing a team that if you run it up on them, you're like, man, wow, y'all beat Tulsa that bad? Congrats. You're in the playoff. I think they can win this game by 30 points. Will it change my perspective on them? No,

they're going to have to do something extra special down the road. I want to see it against I wish they played Houston. I wish I could see it against Houston because I'm telling you right now, and I'll look in this camera and I will say it, SMU is going to beat Cincinnati in Cincinnati here in a couple weeks. Just know you heard it here. Just know I said it, especially the way they're playing. If Ritter keeps playing like this and the timing's off and the chemistry's off

and they continue to struggle a little bit tackling on defense, which is very surprising to see, especially earlier than the year when they were tackling well on defense, You go back and watch the Notre Dame game, they're tackling well, and it's like they fell off the cliff. I don't think Luke Fickle would let them read their own press clippings, but I don't think anything they can do against Tulsa will knock me off my socks and say, you know what, Michigan State, Oregon, y'all get out of here. Cincinnati's the top four team. And I know there's a lot of people out there that want to say it. And it's a good story. It's a great story.

Our good friend Tim Brando, who we're going to have on the show next week, a champion of Cincinnati. I'm sorry, Timmy B. They're not a top four team in the country. It's a cool story. Heck, the Jamaican bobsled team from Cool Runnings was a good story. That doesn't mean they're one of the best bobsledding teams. So does that mean Cincinnati will at least get a movie out of this? Look, they'll do a 30 for 30 or something.

Okay. They'll get something. Twenty-22. All right. Arkansas. We talked about it a little bit. But do they get back on track this weekend? I think they do.

I think they do. I think there's too much leadership in that locker room. When you look at Grant Morgan, when you look at Hayden Henry, when you look at Catalan, and I know that they went through that stretch. They lost those three games. That lost to Auburn at home was devastating for them. But Sam Pittman, again, this is where you rely on your leadership. This is where you rely on that same culture that helped you beat Arkansas, or, excuse me, Texas A&M,

that same culture that helped you slap Texas right in the face on national TV in front of everybody. So I think Arkansas bounces back this week. I think Arkansas looks good this week. I think Arkansas plays discipline this week, and they got Mississippi State at home, correct? Yes. I don't think the same Mississippi State team shows up that showed up last week against Kentucky. I think you see your run-of-the-mill Mississippi State team, but I think Arkansas suffocates them. Now, one thing about what Arkansas does and what Mississippi State does, when you play that three-down umbrella coverage that Arkansas does, the air raid can take advantage of that a lot, especially if they're able to sit in those zones.

So I'm very interested to see, I'm very interested to see, excuse me, how Barry Odom adjust to what Mississippi State does, because Mississippi State will try and do what they did last week. We'll take the five-yard hitch. We'll run high-low-op. We'll take the drag for six yards. Oh, you want to cheat something inside? We'll spit it outside on the crosser. We'll hit it up for 15 yards.

So Arkansas's got to play very disciplined in the back end. They've got to tighten up that zone a little bit, and I think you may see a little more pressure from Barry Odom this week than we've seen in the past. Last one here. Will Harbaugh have another naughty November? It's hard for me to bet on the guy when the games matter most. It's just hard for me to bet on the guy when the games matter most. And I talked about it, you know, I went, you almost lost my breath, talking about Jim Harbaugh the other day and how he's not the guy.

I just don't think you become the guy when you've proven so many times that you're not the guy. Why would I bet on Jim Harbaugh now? Sure. Why would I bet on him now? They're not going to beat Ohio State, in my opinion. At least right now the way it's looking unless there's some devastating injuries for Ohio State. But yes, I think Jim Harbaal,

will, to quote Dennis Green, be exactly who we think he is and struggle in November when it counts against the teams it counts against. And that's the difference between, like you said, being a good coach, and I guess the standards just to be good and look cool and it's Michigan

are being a great coach because they remember November. and don't ever forget it. Yep. You will go to the booster club? Let's go the booster club, Blaine. What do we got? I've got a question here from Grant Brown asked,

but what's more important that coach who's good of recruiting and great at scheming or a coach that is great of recruiting and good at scheming? Well, again, both ways have won. Here's the one common denominator that you have to have either way. When you look at, oh, do I want a style of coach that is the CEO type that you mentioned that may not be the best schematics guy, but he understands how to build the culture in the program and what needs to be said

and how the media needs to be treated and how to play the game. Then on the other side, the schematical genius that may be kind of quirky. You think of a Steve Sarkesian, somebody like that that may not be, you know, the coolest kid on the block. You know, I know, I know Dan Mullen tries to be, but at the end of the day, he's a football nerd like I am,

but, you know, his personality doesn't lend to be rambunctious or cool or this, that, and the other. The one common denominator, of those coaches need to have. You need to know how to hire. You need to get right on the hires. Because you can be a schematical genius offensively. That's one side of the ball. That's a third of the game. So you can have any style of coach. The best style of coach, you can take either one of those. But the thing that makes the difference is they know how to hire. Not just once, not just one great hire, but they're able to replicate multiple great hires over and over again.

That doesn't mean they don't miss. Nick Sabin is missed on coaches, but he sure as hell hits a lot more than he misses. So you can be a schematical genius and know how to hire and say, all right, D.C., you do what you're going to do. I may come in there and say this, that, and that, but I'm going to let you run it. I'm going to run it. Or I'm going to sit back as the CEO and hire unbelievable coordinators that I feel good about running it. I'm going to check on them. I'm going to watch the film.

I'm going to know if we're just running man-free, Ed or Geron, all the time. I'm going to know if we're the most predictable thing since, you know, I don't know, pepper jelly and cream cheese at a nice upper class party. So at the end of the day, to me, if you're going to choose your style of head coach, if it's on one end of the spectrum or the under end of the spectrum, you better know how to hire people around you. And you better know that you can't just hire your damn friends because friends get you fired. Not that you can't have some on there, but if you just hire a bunch of people that agree with you,

that's one of the worst recipes for this business, any business, any other business, Are any other business outside of that? I don't care if you're selling cupcakes, if you're selling slim jims, if you're selling cars, Mars, bars, malls, shopping malls. It doesn't matter. Are you coaching a college football team? People that know how to hire people and consistently know how to hire people, use their niche, use their forte, but trust the people around them.

That's the best type of head coach. What else we got, Blaine? What do you think, Blaine? You've been awfully quiet over there, man. Hey, man, I'm treating questions. Hold on. I'm going to ask you this question. I just found it.

Dakota Faulkner hashtag hashtag boy what four teams would you take out of the SEC and what what teams would you replace them with? That's a good question. Dakota's always he does this to me about twice a week. You get you in a corner. Dakota always asks questions that I would never think to ask. That's why I love answering questions from them. I tell them that to his face.

I'm not saying because he asked it. All right. So let's do the four teams that I would take out first. Man, this is tough. This is tough. So it's got to be four. And it's just, we're just going off football here. Going off football.

And this is all hypothetical. I know people are going to get offended, but this, that and the other. I would say Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt, no, Vanderbilt, I would say, God, I'd have to pick four to leave. Vanderbilt, give me South Carolina. This is tough. Dakota, why do you do this to me? Give me.

Missouri. Missouri. It has to be. And give me, oh. I'm going to say. say this, okay? Mississippi State. That's right. Those would be the four.

And I hate doing that. I hate doing that. Dakota, you did this to me. And there's so many friends of the show coaching those teams. I know. I mean, yeah. But it's all hypothetical. Look, you don't play favorites around here.

and we've got to remember the transfer portal as well. I mean, now until the new intake rule gets passed, and this is huge, and this is a housekeeping thing, and this isn't going to be the sexiest thing in the fans right now. But the rule that was changed, or that's going to be changed, Ross Dillinger reported it from Sports Illustrated, said they're going to vote on it, this, that, and the other, is that you used to be able to just have 25 players

that you can take in a year on scholarship. You have 25 scholarships. But now with the transfer portal and the one-time transfer, you can go anywhere for free for one year, and there's no limit on how many players can leave. So you could legitimately have 30 players leave in one year, and you can only sign 25. You're putting the coaches in an impossible situation,

so they're going to vote and change that. But until that happens, you still only have a certain amount of numbers right now that you can sign, whether it's Transfer Portal, whether it's Juco. But when I look at individual guys, and I look at class rank for Auburn, Curtis Perry is a great measuring stick moment for Brian Harsen,

actually going up against Alabama. It's going to be almost impossible. for him to beat Alabama on a kid. And we've talked about you're going to see more returns for Auburn in recruiting in 23 than you will in 2022. So when you look out there at the rankings and you see how's Auburn going to finish and is this guy going to come and is that guy going to come, I would watch Tay Woody. I would watch Tay Woody, the four-star offensive lineman that's committed to Florida State.

I think they're waiting on grades for Justin Williams, the running back or at least waiting on Trevante's citizen, as Jeffrey Lee mentioned. So Justin Williams, Trevante's citizen. I would watch out, like I said, for Tay Woody. I think he's a guy where there's going to be a chance. Curtis Perry is another one to keep an eye on. But watch the 2023 class. That's going to tell you more about Brian Harsson and this staff.

What else we got? Beautifully put. We got a question from Eric Anderson, Mr. Anderson. Do you think Oklahoma, the Sooners, is a better job than the LSU Tigers? No. For this reason, and Oklahoma is coming to the SEC. Oklahoma is a phenomenal job. It's a phenomenal job.

Here is where I make the change now saying, or I make the difference now saying that Oklahoma is in the SEC. Let's go ahead and put him in the SEC. Oklahoma has to deal with Oklahoma State, who's having a lot of success right now. The state of Oklahoma, and I know that Broken Arrow is legit, recruited the school. I recruited Oklahoma.

I know how talented some of those kids are out there. You're not the state school, and you're in a state that's not nearly as talent rich as the state of Louisiana. And I know you're next to Texas, but outside of that, you're not surrounded by as much talent either. LSU is also the state school.

They care about LSU and the Saints. They don't worry about Louisiana Tech. They don't worry about Northwestern State. They don't worry about Tulane, Nickel State, any of those, Southeastern Louisiana. It's LSU. Those kids grow up LSU fans in Oklahoma. You're competing against an Oklahoma State team

that's got some cachet, that's got some juice. Mike Gundy's done a really good job. there. So to me, I think the LSU job is a better job than Oklahoma, but not by a ton. Oklahoma is a blue blood, blue blood program to me, even though every time they go to the playoff, they pull a Notre Dame. So I would take the LSU job. Yeah. One more. Then we're going to get there. Yeah, I've got a question here from Parker Ivy, hashtag Ashg. Will Bob Stoops be considered for any head coaching opportunities? I have been told by two former high-level head coaches. I'm obviously not going to say their name on air. that Bob Stoops is still interested in coding. Good to hear.

That there is a not possibility, a good possibility that you're going to start hearing that name floated around more and more and more. But if you're Bob Stoops, just like if you're a Kendall Briles, as crazy as this sounds, just like if you're a Jamie Chadwell, just like if you're a Billy Napier. I'm sorry, Blaine. You don't have to jump at the first opportunity you get. And Bob Stoops is on another level, even though he's been out of it for a while. And the game has changed. He's kept himself relevant in the game. But don't be surprised if you start hearing the name Bob Stoops a little bit more and a little bit more and a little bit more as the market starts to open.

And we know if they're going to fire him during COVID, best believe guys are getting fired when it's not COVID season. Or the season's not taken over by COVID per se. All right, very excited to welcome in tight-end extraordinaire out of Texas A&M. Mr. Jalen Watermeyer. Jailen, as usual, it's always great to talk to you, brother. What's so, Jay? How you doing? Doing good, man. You got a big one this week. It's amazing in the SEC.

When you're winning, the big ones keep coming and coming and coming. And you guys have been on a role. And we talked about your leadership and the leadership that you guys got, the council and all that. But, you know, this week, are you happy with where you guys are so far this week in the preparation? It seems like you guys have really locked into the routine. Exactly, yeah. I feel like we're very locked into the routine.

And these later stages of the season, you know, you start to, teams start to weather out, and teams start to get injuries, get tired, and just mentally get unfocused. And I feel like we're at a great point with our focus and practice. and everything that happens in practice just leads to good play game days. I feel like we're at a really good point, especially with our young players, our freshman. Do you feel like the chemistry is getting better and better, too?

Again, when I watch you guys, and obviously the Alabama game, but you watch Missouri and you watch South Carolina, the timing seems better, especially in the passing game. The run game is what it is. It's going to be what it is. But the timing in the past game, to me, seems better. It seems like you guys have kind of found that rhythm a little bit,

kind of like a good R&B band. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I feel like, yeah, we've definitely found our rhythm, and we're just building on it every week. I feel like every week we're getting better, and that's what happens with really good teams. I feel like we're getting better and better, and that's what happens with young teams, too. They're going to get better and better. We just got to stay focused in practice and stay focused and come and perform and do all the little things right on game day. You know, Zach looks better in the pocket. Our old line is blocking better, and we're recognizing defenses a lot better, too, during the game.

making pre-game adjustments and mid-game adjustments at halftime. You know, we're getting a lot better with that. And now you can see, like Zach would say, oh, I see this coverage. I see this coverage. He'll tell Jimbo, and Jimbo would go do his little adjustments to what else's what Zach's seeing. Exactly. So that's something we saw from Kellyn last year, but we didn't see that from Zach earlier this year.

And now we're starting to see that, and it's really good. Well, experience is a hell of a key. You know, we always talk about what are some of the greatest things to experience and actually seeing it and then figuring out what people are trying to do against you. it always makes you a better player and it's good to see Zach keep taking those strides. I know you older guys are helping him with that as well. But you look at this Auburn team, Jalen. You know, kind of like y'all, they didn't really struggle early,

but they weren't playing well and they found a rhythm as well. When you look at this Auburn defense, what's a couple of things that jump out to you? Well, they play a lot of man. They play a lot of man. And our star players, me, Adai, Isaiah, we're going to have to make plays against these defenses. I'm probably going to be matched up with a lot of safeties and linebackers.

And I'm going to have to win against them. And now it's going to be matched up with safeties and corners. We just got to win one-on-one matchups this game for us to be good to win this game. But we have to establish the run at first. Yeah, establish the run. They have a really good D-line. And they have really good linebackers, but just like every SEC team. But we have a low-line and we have really good backs.

So we have to get the job done in the running game first before the past. Man, you hit the – Yeah, you hit the nail on the head to me, and I talked about this a lot. You know, earlier in the season with you guys, you know, with Zach in there, and then the run game wasn't what it normally is, and that doesn't lead to balance. Now you guys seem balanced. And as a guy that does both, I always find the tight-in perspective so interesting because you're integral to the run game, but a guy like you was so integral outright as well to the passing game,

do you feel that balance kind of catching up where you guys are able to start manufacturing yards and keeping defenses a little more on their toes as opposed to being one-dimensional, because that's what I see. I think that's what everybody sees. Yeah, beginning of the season, we didn't establish our chemistry yet, and we didn't establish ourselves as a great running team, and I feel like we're getting there, and we're getting better and better at hitting strides. And once you establish the run, because that's what A&M has always been about,

well, that's what Jimbo's always been about, establishing the run first, and then passing off of that. Because once you establish the run, you get the safeties up, the linebackers up, and you could throw right over their head. And some of the players that were going to get, like to get their eyes in the backfield. So I would definitely like to establish to run first and run plays off that.

Yeah, play action, baby. The Wizard, the Witch and the Wardrobe, as we used to call it. But Jalen, a couple more here for you. We're here with Jalen Watermeier, standout tight in there for A&M. Do you consider yourself a tight end or a flex why, Jalen? I like to think of myself as both. He like to be versatile.

Like, I want to, one of my, one of my things I really, like, hit on is my blocking. I try to get blocked better as I, throughout my career and throughout every week, I try to get better with blocking because I know I can catch the ball. I know I can run routes, but I want to be that versatile player that, like a kiddle. I want to be like a kiddle. Because that's, that's one in the league, and that's what I feel like that's what would be the best for my, best thing for my team, just trying to, on our road down this, you know, down the stretch of game.

So that's why I'm trying to fight for every week to be sort of a George Till to aim. Well, versatility. I mean, it makes you more sought after. It makes you more valuable and it helps your team out the most. It's a win-win for everybody. It's I always say if I'm running a business, which I mean, I really am right now, if I'm going to hire somebody, I want to be able to do multiple things well. I don't want to hire somebody that just does one thing really well but can't do multiple things.

And I think that's used in the game of football as well. But Jalen, as usual, man, it's always such a professional interview when I get you on here. I know this isn't the first time that you've spoken to the cameras, but we always appreciate your time and good luck this weekend. You got a message to the A&M fans? What's up, Dylan? How do you all see Auburn attacking A&M's big boys up front from a schematic standpoint? Hashtag Ask J Boy. That's you. Well, you know, again, Auburn's personnel up front is not elite. They're older guys.

You know, they're not the strongest. They're not the best-looking group of all time, but they've been good enough. And typically when you have a team that physically is not as strong, because A&M is more physical and athletic on the defensive line, in my opinion, just from a physics and scientific standpoint than Auburn is. It's not that Auburn's guys don't want to be physical, but what you do when you don't want to go big on big so that gap scheme, so I'm basing, we're pulling, we're kicking, it's big on big, this, that, and the other.

You get a lot of zone runs. That's why you've seen Auburn running. a lot of zone this year because it can hit in multiple places. You don't have to overpower people to run zone. Now, when you run inside zone and your combos, you want movement when you're working up to get off the linebacker and all that stuff. But I think you attack them with zone runs. And that's what Auburn's done. And that's what you're going to see Saturday. Yeah, I got a question here from David walks. Ashtag asked Jayboy. Does he run? I heard he walks. I'm so glad he walks. Yeah, me too. You know, walk it out, talk it out.

If both defense can stop the run, talking about A&M, Auburn. Does this game favor Auburn? Bo Nix is more experienced, playing well, and less turnover prone. Well, yeah, if we're going to say that neither team can run the ball, then you're going to default when everything's even to the veteran quarterback, not that Calzada doesn't have the ability, but Bo Nix has seen this many times. I just, I firmly believe that Zach Calzada played out of his mind against Alabama, played out of his mind.

If he does that, then it's going to be tough to beat him. But they were able to run the ball a little bit there. But if they get Calzada, if I had to pick a third and seven, And which quarterback would I take? I would take Bow Nicks, obviously. What else? Is that it? I believe that's it.
