This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app,

On the Look Back at it podcast.
In 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it,
with our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show.
This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard,
but celebrated.
So let's get to it.

I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football,

Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became.
bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes,

One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment.
And the next, we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music.
The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast.
It's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told,
and for people who are chasing something bigger.
So, if you've ever supported me

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano,
and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs
without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash will get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers
why he got the ball, like,
after you go through a training camp with that, I said,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, everyone, it's Ryder Strong,
and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World.
And now the Pod Meets Twirled podcast.
We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV,
who now have covered Dancing with the Stars, traitors,
and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor.
So yeah, now we're experts.
I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge.
That is the point of the show.
I'm just going to remind you.
I have watched some Survivor.
I obviously haven't watched enough.
Did people not like it?
Like what was just because we?
Yeah.
We'll be recapping the big conclusion at the 50th.
season from the final attempts at gameplay to the desperate pleas of finalists to a bunch of

Again, we are experts.

All right, everybody, it's Wednesday, which means we are one day closer.
Actually, a day away from college football.
And I'm Jones and over here.
I know you guys are, but we got a heck of a show for you today.
We try and bring the noise every time we come out of here, help you guys win the water cooler.
Got a great lineup today.
I want to start off in the monologue.
I want to talk about what's a better job, LSU or USC.
We were talking about this on social media, how to like.
lot of differing opinions. I'm going to tell you what I think is the right answer.
We're going to bring Missouri quarterback Connor Basilac on. And, you know, it's always,
you know, everybody always brings on guys that they're winning right now and it's all great
and it's rainbows and sunshine. But you get a look at what goes on in a locker room and from
a leader when the team is, when it isn't going good. And he has a message for Missouri fans.
We have a great Missouri fan base out there. He has a message for you guys. And I think you need
to listen. We're going to play some punter go. Then we're going to introduce our brand new
segment because we got a brand new sponsor. Wickles Pickles right here. They're the best
pickles around and we don't do sponsors that we don't like like I legitimately eat wickles pickles
even though to me the wickles okra is is just as good if not better it's the only okra that i'll eat
you know that may upset some people that's debatable it's abatable we're going to get to that
after we play punt and go and then the sorcerer of the sidelines lane kiffin is going to
join us talk about what's the deal with the michael wilbon hate he has a great line in there
you're going to want to hear talks about their mentality going for it on fourth down
And the thing I love about Coach Kiffin is honest, he's going to tell you what he thinks, why he hasn't gone on the Manning cast yet, but Coach Saban has, hmm, I wonder what recruit that's for.
We talk about that a little bit and talk a little bit about A&M this weekend and his overall philosophy of offense.
And guess what he talks about?
Being malleable with your personnel.
Love to hear it.
That's how you have success, but just an absolute bang-up show.
Shout out to the Booster Club, the greatest grassroots movement in the history of the planet.
If you don't know what the Booster Club is, it's our live chat during the show.
You can always watch it after on the volume YouTube channel. Check out everything there. Hit that sub button as well. But it's the best chat around. You want to know why? Because we read your comments live. We read your questions live. This is our show together. Good, bad, indifferent. This is our show together. This is our journey together. But speaking of journeys, with a head coach, and I want to set the parameters of this first, because there's two ways to look at it. There's two prisms, maybe even more to look at it. One, is USC, you?
a better job than LSU, like living wise?
Like if you're just looking to live good and you're not one of these guys that your ego
so big that you want to know if you're the best, even though the top guys are,
or are we looking at it from me being competitive and being judged as one of the best coaches
of all time?
There's two different ways to look at it.
I err on the side of these guys want to compete in the best league against the best
and want to know, can I go head to head with Sabin, can I go head to head with Kirby, this, that,
and the other.
because you are judged.
When you go to the SEC, it is understood that you are a head coach in the best conference.
It's like being one of the head salesmen at the biggest sales company in the world.
You want to know if you can hang with the big boys or being an accountant at the biggest accounting firm in the world.
You want to know if you can account with the big boys and for the big boys.
And when I look at this and you can say Urban Meyer, that's where all this sprung off of.
LSU is a better job for the most competitive coaching.
than USC is.
I'm not talking about going out and drinking a mimosa on Venice Beach.
I'm talking about knowing if you're the best coach,
going against the best coaches,
in the league with the best players,
in the most fertile recruiting ground,
in the craziest recruiting wars of all time.
And that's the type guy that Urban Meyer is.
I don't think Urban Meyer wants to go ball out at a place
that you can't look at and say,
well, you know, you're the only team in the conference.
That's the one knock on Dabo,
even though they're not doing it this year.
Well, you're in the ACC.
We don't really know if you can do it at Bama.
And what's funny is some of these coaches take that to heart.
I think Urban Meyer is as well.
And that is not a joke or a euphemism when I say heart.
I can already feel the booster club talking about it right now.
But I'm going to list for you the reasons that from a competitive standpoint
and from a at the end of the day when you judge my career and I went against the best standpoint,
why LSU is better.
Number one, the point I just made, it strokes the ego.
You are in the biggest arena with the biggest and baddest players, the best league in the country, and we all know it.
It's not debatable.
If you don't think it's the best league in the country, then I can't help you anymore.
I really can't.
That's like saying Walmart's just a mom and pop shop.
I can't look at you in the eyes and take that serious.
But again, you look at guys like Brian Harsen coming all the way from out west to go to the SEC.
Deep down, he wants to know.
When I lay my head down on the pillow at night and I'm competing in this league, I can
actually look around and say, here is where I stack up against the best. And if I have success,
they are going to say that I am the best. And it's the only place for me to prove it that way.
It strokes the ego. Number two, it's a whole heck of a lot easier to get kids to leave California
to go play for LSU than it is to get kids to leave from Louisiana or from the South to go play
out in California. Why? The most fertile recruiting ground in the country is the South. And I had people on
social media say, oh, well, California has better players than Louisiana.
It's the size of a continent.
Look at per capita.
That's not fair.
You can't do that.
And say, oh, well, you know, Texas has better players than anybody.
Well, it's one of the biggest states.
I'm sure Alaska's got a ton of good players that we don't know about just because it's huge.
And, like, I won't understand that argument.
But you are watching kids from out west.
Let me go over them.
Bryce Young.
J. T. Den, Den, Den,
Go down the list.
Corey Foreman was kind of an anomaly last year, and people will say, oh, well, NIL, guys, NIL in the SEC produces a lot of money.
Not that in L.A.
It's not big and this, that, and the other.
But there's another caveat to that as well.
So it's a lot easier to get guys to go from California to play in the SEC than it is to get guys from the South to go out to USC.
A lot of them just use it as a fun trip.
We had a kid when I was coaching junior college, go out there and get a brand new set of grill.
Gold grill in his mouth had a great time.
I met a bunch of famous people and was like, no, I'm not going out there.
Like, it was cool.
That's cool vacation.
To me, that's a place where all these kids want to go out and vacation for a week or two,
but they want to play the best ball.
They know where to go.
And it's closer to mama and daddy and grandma and grandpa, auntie, and uncle, and brother and sister.
Whoever is the guardian is.
That's a proven point.
Number three, there's no pro teams to compete with.
And in the state of Louisiana, in the state of Louisiana, you have the saints,
yes, but you also don't have a state school.
You're the big dog.
And in Louisiana, LSU football is just as popular as the saints are.
It's not like USC and, you know, the pro teams they have out there.
And it's bigger.
The pro game, we all know, is bigger on the West Coast than it is in the southeast.
College football is king in the southeast.
And if you don't believe me, I know they're not good right now, but go to a Falcons game, even when they're good.
and then go to a Georgia game when they're good.
And you tell me about who cares more about what.
At LSU, they are to die for for college football.
They love it.
It is a way of life.
Out there, it's just another thing to go do if you got time or the pro team sucks.
That's just, and there's nothing wrong with that, but that's the type of lifestyle out there.
And it's just the truth.
You don't have to worry about if you're at LSU, well, you know, we've got Major League Baseball,
we've got NFL, it's a pro hub, it's a pro capital, a lot of.
of shows are built out here that deal with it. The NBA is huge out here. So I think, and not just
at LSU, but the SEC in general, that's a huge deterrent when you're looking at each one of those
schools. So as a head coach, I can get a ton more pub for my school. I can get however I want it.
I'm going to get the benefit of the doubt. I'm going to get the benefit of the doubt early in
my career. And I'll get the pub and I'll get the exposure. Then the home environment,
If you look at the home environment between LSU and USC, it is night and day.
It's night and day.
It's not even close.
It's really not even close.
So when you're recruiting and bringing guys on visits or when you have big time teams come from out of state and come play,
you want that type of environment.
You want it to be nuts.
You want the people to be screaming.
You want the people that are in love with the product.
and that's what you have at a place like LSU.
At USC, not that people don't love the school,
but I would much rather take my team and go play USC at the Coliseum
than take them down there at night in Death Valley.
That's what made that Auburn win so crazy.
It's that you don't go down there.
You're lucky to walk out of there with all your limbs.
Out there in the Coliseum, it doesn't go down like that.
And not that there's anything wrong with that or this and then,
but it's the truth.
We got to be able to say what the truth is.
And that's the truth.
The home environment at LSU compared to USC, it's not even close.
It's not even close.
And then finally, there's less distractions.
And I know that may be kind of ironic looking with what Edos got going on right now on the outside.
But really for the players, in L.A., there's a lot of distractions.
A ton of distractions.
In Louisiana, there's not nearly as many outside factors that you're having to worry about.
Like, I'm not having to worry about my starting running back.
He's like, oh, man, yeah, he's going to be late.
He was hanging out with Jay Cole last weekend, you know.
In Louisiana, he'd just worry about Boosie, and Boosie loves LSU football enough not to mess with him.
Like, you guys just go win.
Y'all just go win.
Pretty good a bag of chips, too.
Yeah, pretty good bag of chips, too.
But if you look at those five reasons, it strokes the ego.
It's easier to get recruits from the West Coast to the southeast as opposed to vice versa.
There's not as many pro teams in the pro games not as big, not even close.
The home environment isn't even close, and there's less distractions.
to me as a guy that would take the avenue of the most competitive
and looking around the conference,
because you can go out to USC and win and win big and all this,
and people be like, well, you're in the PAC 12.
You know?
It's like it's like being the tallest short person.
Like, I mean, it's cool.
Good job.
You know, good job.
But in the SEC, it's judge different.
It really is.
You're looking around.
Why do you think Texas and Oklahoma's coming?
I don't think it's close.
What do you guys think?
I think that the criticism of being dominant in another conference outside the SEC
goes out the window when you win in the playoff and win the national championship.
I don't think the criticism of Davosweeney is fair because he's gone head-to-head
against Sabin and Alabama and won.
It would be different if you're saying like what you've said about Notre Dame,
which is, okay, Notre Dame doesn't play a very strong schedule and they always squeak into the playoffs,
but then they don't do anything there and they get blown out, right?
So if you're somebody, I mean, Southern Cal is still a top coach.
coaching job. If you were to go to Southern Cowell and just run, you know, run over everyone in the
Pact 12 year after year, but then you make the playoffs and you beat Saving two out of three times or three
out of five times, kind of like what Dabo's been able to do or kind of like what Ohio's been able to do
in the, in the Big Ten. I mean, Urban Meyer got him one. They, you know, they do some serious damage when
they make the playoffs. I think that that criticism goes out a little bit. Other than that, I agree
with everything you're saying about Louisiana State. Yeah, well, if you think about it,
think about what the perception is if you go 12 and O in the SEC, as opposed to 12 and O in the
Pack 12. Those things are looked at totally different.
For sure. Without a doubt, I don't see how you can look at that and say, oh, well, those are
even, especially with as good as the, it's not the SEC slowing down either.
Yeah, they're only getting better. It's only getting better. And you're adding
Texas and Oklahoma. Well, I think about it, it goes like, it's a perfect slogan. Just go back
to SEC, it just means more. I thought it's a state of California really wanted to be good.
I mean, just look at 11 national championships. You're in Los Angeles, the new NLI comes
like, you could be good at USC. And you.
You go to the playoffs and you run it, and even if you beat them one out of three times,
if you just show you can get there and make a difference, that school, and I almost think about
as how great would it be to take an SEC job?
And all of you think of LSU, you think great people, great food, and even better football, right?
LSU is a real, and they love football in that state.
If the state of California loved USC as much as Louisiana loves LSU, they could be good.
You have everything you need there to be good.
But too, LSU is the state school.
I mean, out in California, you've got UCLA, you've got USC, you go up and down, you got Fresno, there's a ton more going on.
There may be more people, but there's a ton more going on, and that's not even counting the pro game.
And not just the NFL, not just the NFL, the NBA, Major League Baseball.
Well, that could be looked at as good and bad.
I mean, you have more stuff for recruits that come out there.
You can go see NFL teams.
You can go see NBA teams.
I'm talking about fan engagement.
That's what I'm talking about being able to go to a place and everybody's like, this is the one you go to.
And I don't want to say this like they're a bunch of front runners.
But out there, if USC is not good, people aren't showing up.
If LSU isn't good, they're still showing up.
They're still showing up.
Yeah, it just means more in the South.
It does.
It legitimately just means more.
That's the truth.
One more on the ego thing, right?
How about a coach who says, like if Urban Meyer were to go to USC, right, or with what
Davo's done at Clemson, how about from the other side of the ego coin, which is,
hey, I was able to create a dynasty and with national championships outside of the southeastern
conference outside the conference that gets the best players. What about that?
Well, you know, again, it's just kind of, I think it's kind of who you are and where you're at,
because there's different ways to look at it, and it's sound logical and sound rational.
But again, it's, that to me is not as much of a deep down thing as I want to go to the best
league in the best place and prove it, because it's not just the games. It's competing in recruiting
against the Alabama's and the Georgia's and the fordas and the Auburns and the Tennessees.
it's the whole thing that comes with it.
And if you can do it there, not only from on-field performance, but structurally in other ways like that, then you can, there's no higher level.
The next higher level is the NFL.
You have the AFC, the NFC, and the SEC.
And deep down with these guys, because a lot of them are self-motivated.
A lot of them don't need the outside stuff to get motivated.
But since they have that on the other side of the coin, they're also honest with themselves about where they are and how they compare to people.
and when you really look at the landscape of everything,
and I think even people from out west would say it,
it's harder to not only have success in the SEC,
and I'm not even talking about just a one-off 2019 or a 2019 LSU or a 2010 Auburn,
but to be able to sustain success,
to me that proves a lot more.
And I think when they get done at the end of the day,
they want to be able to look back and say,
even if it didn't work,
I had the guts to try and do it at the highest.
level of college football.
Yeah, true.
And I think, you know, the last three coaches at LSU has won national championship.
So, you know, it's been proven and can be done by different people.
I think you want to get remembered.
You want to get remembered as the best kind of to ever do.
You're in that Sabin, that dabbo talk, is you build USC back to the program that they were,
and you run through the Pac-12, and you get in the playoffs and you win those games.
That's how you get remembered.
Or you can go to LSU and win a national championship and have three other guys who did it, too,
you know, who won one-off years or whatever it is.
but you want to get remembered, you go bring a program back, and you run through it,
you go in the SEC and you beat a Sabin or you beat a dabbo, you will be stoned into a tablet out there.
Yes, I'm saying.
Well, look at what Jimbo's trying to do.
Look at what Lane's trying to do.
I mean, look at what Sam Pittman's trying to do.
Look at what Brian Harsen's trying to do.
They made that decision to come to the SEC because they know.
Yeah, you come to SEC, no matter what the school, there's expectations.
There is.
You know, outside of Vanderbilt, they just expect you to do get on tests and stuff.
Yeah, you just got a throw a hard fast.
You just got to throw a hard fast fall.
This is kind of new.
I mean, this SEC dominance is kind of new in terms of the grand scheme of college football.
I remember when I was trying to decide where I wanted to go coming out, the most dominant programs were at that time, you know, Southern Cal, Oklahoma, Texas with Vince Young.
Miami just had a dynasty.
Florida State with Chris Winky and the guys.
Ohio State with Maurice Claret, I believe it was.
So it was kind of, you know, like none of those schools are in the SEC.
But then, you know, last 15 years, it's just been a runaway train.
It's recruiting.
It's recruiting.
It all comes down to recruiting.
And administration at these universities.
I think the schools in the South are saying, hey, we're doubling down on football.
You know, we're doubling down.
It still matters.
I mean, yeah.
They're like, they like this a lot.
We're going to keep doing it.
But speaking about it, and I want to get to why this Arkansas Ole Miss game's kind of been underhyped to me.
I love this game.
Football purist from a fan standpoint, this is a beautiful game for you guys.
But first, let's get Connor.
We'll squeeze that into punter go.
We'll squeeze that into punter go.
So let's get Connor Bazelak in here because, like I said, it's one thing to hear from a guy when your team is winning and everything's good and they're telling you how good you are and patting you on the back, throwing touchdowns left and right.
But being able to listen to a guy that the team is not going good.
You're two and three.
You just got blown out at Tennessee.
And they look at you as the quarterback as the leader.
And I think Connor did a really good job here.
I think he did.
He owned it.
And I respect that.
Here's Connor Bezalak.
All right, everybody.
Let's get Connor Bezalak in here, Missouri quarterback.
back. Conner, I appreciate you joining us, man.
Yeah, no problem.
Tough one against Tennessee this past weekend,
kind of snowballed. They got out in front.
Just your kind of thoughts from that game
when you went back and watched it. I know it kind of happened early and you guys seemed like you were playing catch-up the whole game.
Yeah, it was definitely tough.
Like you said, we got down early and
I mean, when you look up at the score in second quarter and you're down 28 to 3,
it kind of sinks your confidence a little bit.
So, you know, I think we, I think the offense, you know, we responded and, you know,
just kept playing, playing our game, playing football and tried to put points on the board.
But I know we didn't do enough, you know, early in the game to give our team a chance.
So, you know, we got those things fixed and, you know, back at practice.
another week.
You can't stop grinding and working.
What's the mindset right now that Coach Drink kind of talked to y'all about after the game?
Going forward, long season, still a lot of football left in 2021.
What's kind of the overall theme right now for you guys?
Yeah, I think just all we have is all we got, you know, it's just our team.
It's all we have.
So I don't think a lot of people believe in us.
and I think they kind of saw last week and kind of think that's how the rest of the season is going to go.
So, you know, we got my, we got people's minds to change and things approved.
So I think we just kind of got to come together as a team, you know, a family and get things fixed.
And like you said, there's a lot of football left.
So, you know, we can go on a win streak and people won't remember.
the two and three stars, they'll just remember the strong finish.
Yeah. And as a leader on this team, you know, it's easy to lead when it's going good.
It's easy to lead when you're winning every game and winning blowouts and everybody's telling you how good you are.
As the quarterback of this team, what is your job right now, what is your obligation to this team when it may be not going so good?
Yeah, I think just kind of bonding everyone together.
I think it goes bad when you've got two teams inside of one.
You know, when you have the offense as one team and defense as another,
I think stuff starts to go bad.
So I think just kind of getting everyone on the same cylinder on the same track
and getting back to, you know, playing as a whole team
where offense is working off the defense and defense is playing off of what the offense
does.
Just kind of cohesive unit is kind of what we've got to get back to.
And we've talked all week about that.
Yeah, well, Connor, my last question, we're here with Missouri starting quarterback
Connor Bazelach.
Looking at the rest of the season and kind of watching the tape and learning from each
game and learning where to progress.
I mean, is it just physical things, just physical mistakes?
Is it some mental stuff?
Is it a little bit of both?
Because, I mean, those are very fixable once you get,
down to the nuts and bolts of it.
Yeah, I think it's a little bit of both.
I think obviously I can't speak for the defense,
but I know on offense, we've got to do a better job
taking care of the football and starts with me.
So I got to be better in that area,
but I think we just got to find ways to score more touchdowns
and take the most of our take advantage of what we get.
with our drives, you know, what the defense can give us.
And I think our offense is, I think, tied for first in the country and red zone
scoring.
So, you know, that's good.
And I would I continue to do that.
So, yeah, like I said, just getting everyone on the same page and getting this thing back
rolling.
Yeah, kind of, what's your message to the fans right now that may be down?
You kind of mentioned it a little bit earlier.
There's a long season to go.
you guys go on a win streak.
They're not going to remember the two and three start.
What's your message to the Missouri faithful right now?
I think just not to be discouraged.
I think we've got a really talented team with really good coaches.
So if we just keep working, I think the wins are going to come.
It's a long uphill battle.
You know, what Coach Drink is doing is building a program from the bottom up.
So it takes a while.
I think the wins are going to come.
We have good players.
We have good coaches.
You know, we are recruiting well.
So I think just stay patient and keep supporting and, you know, make you guys proud.
For sure.
Well, Connor, I appreciate it, buddy.
Hope you have a good rest of the week and good luck this weekend.
Thank you.
All right.
Connor coming in here.
And, you know, just telling the truth.
I mean, at the end of the day, it is what it is.
As a leader, you've got to bring it every day.
And even when it's going bad, like we talked about not having the offense and the defense
versus each other, having it as one team because that can start to seep through and cause problems.
And as a leader, you can't let that happen.
But speaking about leaders, we're about 10 minutes away from the lane train pulling on in the station here at the J-Boy show.
So if you just found out about it, it's just hearing about us for the first time he's coming on here in a minute.

Look, it's a party in here every day.
Come join the booster club in the live chat.
Shout out to the booster club.
But all right, let's play some punter go.
Let's do it.
You ready?
Let's do it.
All right, first one.
Georgia can win the national championship this season without J.T. Daniels coming back.
I tweeted this yesterday.
I'm going.
I'm going.
Wow.
Yeah.
I mean, I think they could win it with one step, you know, behind a mannequin being behind there.
So when I look and here's why.
Because when Stets and Bennett, let's go ahead and say Stets and Bennett, because that's the guy if JT's not healthy.
Not that I don't think JT's going to play anymore or anything like that.
I think he's going to come back.
but hypothetically, if you're looking, if the offensive line continues to progress how they are,
if they keep getting guys back and are able to hit the intermediate pass game when they want,
all Georgia has to do is score 21 to 24 points a game.
I'm just, there is not a team, and I include Alabama in this,
that is going to score more than 24 points against Georgia.
I don't see it happening outside of three pick sixes or something crazy or two block punts.
This defense is that good.
and when you look at the rest of the regular season in the SEC,
and then you look at them when they get to Bama,
they're getting guys back and they've built depth within the season,
which is huge.
It's different building depth during the offseason.
We talk about it all the time in here.
When you can build depth during the season and then get guys back,
it's amazing how that helps you in the back end of the schedule.
But looking at it right now,
every match that I see Georgia play,
they have the most dominant side of the ball in the country,
which is that defense,
which is going to win field position,
which is going to cause turnovers,
which is going to lead to the ability to at least even get field goals.
And they've got a good field goal kicker at Georgia.
He's consistent.
He's pretty solid.
But I don't see a team in the country that scores more than 21 points against Georgia.
And for that reason, Stetson Bennett's not going to screw it up.
He makes a couple decisions a week that we go, okay, that wasn't very smart.
But they're not asking him to do a lot.
Hand it off good, bud.
That's what they're asking them to do.
The backs, they have a stable of running backs.
Their intermediate passing game with Monkin is good.
They don't have to take a ton of vertical shots, but it's in there, and Stetson can hit them if they're open.
He loves throwing the wheel route, did last year as well.
But I'm going because to me, Georgia is that good on defense, and the offense is going to continue to progress.
Getting Darnell Washington back for that run game was massive, especially on the edge with what they're able to do.
Can you imagine after 40 years if it's Stetson Bennett, after all the quarterbacks have Matt Stafford, DJ Shockley, David Green, like, and it's, Stets, hey, he could die.
I agree with you.
Exactly.
No, it's right.
Number two, Penn State will pull off the upset at Iowa.
You go on for that?
I'm putting it.
I'm with you.
I like the Hawkeyes.
I think Clifford's going to make a couple mistakes.
Because just like anything, when you pressure a quarterback,
some of them tend to be a little laxadaisical.
And I think Clifford, when you watch him, that's been kind of a bugaboo.
Iowa's not going to beat themselves.
Penn State's got a good football team.
But Iowa is so good in the secondary,
they're going to do everything they can to take away Jahan Dotson.
He's the one that's.
that drink for Penn State's
offense. He really does. Number five, the wide receiver.
He's the guy. You take him out
and Clifford starts having to go
to option number two and option number
three, and then you actually cover the tight
in, unlike what Auburn did. There's not
a lot of answers there. So I think this is going to be
an old school Big Ten style game. I think
Clifford's going to make a couple of mistakes.
The Iowa secondary, they don't
drop picks if you watch them. If you
throw it anywhere in the vicinity, they're making you
pay for it. They're very well coached.
They don't miscommunicate. They're
pretty gap sound and they don't bust
coverages. So I think Iowa
is going to outlast them at home
and I'm so, I'm just, I love this
matchup, not only because it's three
and four, but that it's a big 10
game that we know is crucial in the grand
scheme of things and Ohio State is nowhere to be
found. Not because I don't like Ohio State,
but it's good for college football, David Cohn.
Yeah, no, I agree. And that line went down.
It was at a point and a half earlier.
I got it at two and a half. You like Penn State?
I like Penn State. I feel like their offense
is better than Iowa's offense.
I feel like Iowa's offense is anemic.
When you get to a team who's like that, these teams are just alike.
And almost every single way, I like Clifford and I like what he does.
I feel like he's a little more versatile and can score more points and whatever the under is in this game take it.
I think Iowa kicks a field goal to beat him.
I think Iowa kicks a field goal to beat him.
Okay.
I think this is that type of game.
But again, it's going to come down to a few crucial turnovers.
And I just see Clifford when they pressure him because I know Iowa's going to blend some pressures
and they got some guys up front on that defensive line that can get there,
especially on the edge, it's going to be the difference.
I think Iowa scores a defensive touchdown or a special team's touchdown in this game.
And we look back and say that was the difference to lead them to get to that goal.
I think one of these teams will.
Either Iowa or Penn State will have a special teams or pick six.
It's going to be a good game.
It's going to be a fistfight.
I agree with you on the field goal.
That's why I got him at two and a half.
That's exactly right.
I thought it would go to three and a half.
It went down to one and a half.
Long week.
I know.
Just talking to you on a Wednesday here.
That's what it was this morning.
On Wednesday.
Next one.
You wanted to get in some Arkansas Ole Miss, right?
Yep.
Okay.
How about this?
The winner of this weekend's Arkansas-O-Miss matchup will finish second in the SEC West.
I'm going to say go.
I'm going to say go.
You know, I look around the west of the west.
Auburn still needs to find some answers at wide receivers, still in the offensive line.
The win against LSU was huge, but it's a totally different game playing Ole Miss.
And then Arkansas is a little bit different the way they control the tempo up front, the way they, you know, I call it not playing it casual, but they kind of keep everything in front on defense.
That's why this matchup is just fascinating to me.
offensively, but offensively, they're so different.
Defensively, they're very similar.
And when you see games like this, it comes down to pace, who can dictate the pace.
But I think Arkansas and Ole Miss, the winner of this game, you look at Ole Miss already
having played Bama, Arkansas, not having played Bama yet, played Georgia.
I don't think Ole Miss plays Georgia unless I'm mistaken on that.
But I'm going to say, I think the winner of this finished the second East.
All right.
Next one here.
Punter go.
Bama will beat Texas A&M.
Let me finish now because I know that would be too easy right there.
Bama will beat Texas A&M.
Okay.
Worse than Georgia will beat Auburn.
That's a good.
You guys really skilled that one.
Yeah, I got it on that one.
Y'all were back there just staring at each other in the laboratory.
Did we high five after that one?
We did high five after that.
We got a Dexter's lab situation going on over here.
I'm going to say.
And I'm going to go ahead and throw this at you.
The Bama, the Georgia Auburn spreads at 16.
It's at 16 and a half now.
I swear, I told you it would go.
Wow, Tony.
And the Bama A&M games is 17 and a half.
I'm going to say that Bama beats A&M worse than Georgia beats Aubrey.
Just because Jordan Hare is such a weird place to play, I think Auburn's going to come out fired up.
We'll see who the quarterback is for Georgia.
It's going to be tough for Auburn to score, but I'm looking at A&M right now.
And it looks to me like it's harder for A&M to score than is for Auburn to score.
is for Auburn score. You don't got a lot of options on that A&M.
No. And when you look at A&M and their lack of ability to run the ball, and then you mix
that with the lack ability to run the ball with Zach Kalsada back there, who's really not
super mobile. There's a reason he was the number two guy. I just think you have a better chance
to score points with Bow Nix. Because if you look right now, let's look at Auburn N A&M, okay? Let's just
look at Auburn A&M. Quarterback position. You taking Bo Nicks? You're taking Bo Nix, you're taking
Calzata. Yeah. Taking Bo Nicks for sure. Taking Bo Nicks. Offensive line. It's almost even right now. It's a toss up. It's a
toss up.
Wide receiver.
Toss up.
You can maybe lean A&M because they have a few more guys that are a little more athletic.
It's a toss up defensively.
You look at Auburn right now.
You'd probably say that A&M has better personnel than Auburn does,
but that A&M defense, I'm telling you,
they're starting to lose faith in that offense,
and that does something to you.
And all Bama's going to do,
all Bama's going to do is just force A&M to go three and out.
They're going to get A&M into third and nine when they're on defense,
get in two-man, and they're going to get after Calzada,
And I'm telling you, Calzada's going to throw a few to Bama.
Because he knows, I mean, look, this is really, if you're A&M, with all the bad stuff that has gone on,
this game could resurrect you not to get into the playoff picture, but just back to, hey, guys, we're fine.
It's not as bad as we thought pretty quickly.
So there's some momentum there.
I know the fan base is jacked up.
But, man, I just, I do not see how A&M is going to be able to consistently put up points or even really get first downs.
Then you look at Auburn, George, you can say the same thing.
but Jordan Herrick gets weird
Bo Nix can run. You saw against Georgia
KJ. Javerson popped a couple runs.
I think Bo will get loose a couple
times, but that's a tough question. I feel like if this
game was in Brian Denny
would be different. Right.
And it would definitely be Alabama.
You would take the points with Bama if the game was in
Brian Denny. Oh, yeah, for sure.
I mean, they're both home games, but
I just, I think Bo Nix is kind of the X factor
there. And look, he's going to have to do it again.
But that's a good question, guys.
It bothers me to see Cal's,
out of being used as the scapegoat out there, especially him not being mobile.
I mean, look, Jimbo's only national title came with James Winston, not a mobile guy.
Like, he can win Natties without, you know, having the fastest guy on the field.
Well, what it did, what it did when you look at him is they replaced the offensive line,
and they still expect him to be good.
But Haynes King can move, like legitimately moving.
He's a problem.
So that kind of spreads the defense out a little bit.
Sometimes you've got to put a spy on him, which takes a guy out of coverage.
You've got to make sure that backside D.N is holding on the zone read, your RPO
game, all that stuff.
It really takes a huge worry out of the defense's plan.
It really, we don't have, Calzada will not beat us with his legs.
So on third and five, and you're there in 10 personnel and you're sitting there
run the zone read.
I don't have to respect that.
No, I get that.
But that can be said for every mobile quarterback.
What I'm saying is that Jimbo won a national title with James Winston, who wasn't
going 11 on 11.
You know what I mean?
I agree.
I agree with you.
If you're blaming this all on Zach Calzada's name, M fan, you're wrong.
I mean, if I'm an A&M fan, first, I just go back to last year,
Kell and Mawn was a decent quarterback.
Kellamom wasn't the reason y'all were that good.
No, the offensive line.
That's true.
So if I'm an A&M fan, I'm more worried about that offensive line than I am at
quarterback and that defense, because that defense was pretty solid last year too.
If anything, you were built on that offensive line, I'd be more worried about that.
True.
Again, you can't be one, regardless of who's at quarterback.
You can't not be able to run the ball, but especially when you have a pro-style quarterback back there,
you're putting him just in harm's way.
You're asking the defense just to funnel the ball wherever they want to.
And it's the truth.
All right.
Last one here before we get to the Wickel's Pickle of the week, okay?
Lane Kiffin and Mike Wilbon should co-host a new show and call it the clown show.
Bring your popcorn.
And they should bring their popcorn.
Go, because why not?
Yeah.
Why not?
They should do a manning cast.
They should.
And it should just all be an argument about why Wilbon doesn't like Lane.
And I'm so good.
I'm so glad that Lane actually gets to answer this question.
I think it's the first one I ask him off the rip with Wobon,
but they should have one, you know, a PTI style,
but with Lane and Kim, you can call it the clown show.
There you go.
Or the circus. It's just ridiculous.
That was so random, man.
It was just so random.
Because if you watch the clip of what happened on PTI,
they're talking about Bama in Ole Miss, like the game,
like what's going to happen, this, and then Wobon just goes off on this, like,
tangent, like legitimately Lane did something to him,
and Lane even says it, and I'm going to let Lane say,
and it's hilarious what he says, but it's interesting, man.
God, it's interesting.
They should. Why not? It's 2021.
All right, man. Why don't you get into the Wickels pickle of the week here?
The Wickels pickle of the week. Shout out Wickel's newest sponsor. I want to explain this segment really quick.
Love the pickles. Got a nice little zing to them. The ochre is really good too. I hope I set that down good.
So here's what we're going to do. We're going to take a situation. It's the Wickel's Pickle of the week. A pickle is a problem, right?
Well, the problem each week will be a different one, a coaching decision that has to be made, something that's tough.
All right.
This one this week is Stanford, Oregon.
You're Stanford.
You're trailing.
You're at home.
And this is where the theories come in.
You score as time expire.
You're down by a touchdown, down by seven.
You get your six points.
You're the head coach.
Do you go for two in the win after you've struggled to kind of come back?
Or do you kick the extra point and play it into overtime?
And the normal thinking in the coaching world is,
when you're at home, you play for overtime.
When you're on the road, you go for the win.
But I'm a firm believer in, you have to look at your personnel versus their personnel,
look where you are in the game,
watch how the game's been going and flowing, and then make that decision.
That's why I was surprised, and Stanford decided to kick the extra point
and ended up working out for them.
That's why I was surprised that Stanford did kick the extra point,
because you know deep down you're not the better team across the board.
You've just come back, got a huge pass interference call,
the play before the one you scored to score,
and you've got the momentum, the home crowd's into it,
you got one play for two yards.
You need two yards to beat Oregon at home.
Number three team in the country.
Number three team in the country at home.
I think you put the dagger in him right there,
but look, he made the decision to kick the extra point,
and it worked.
But as a head coach, to me, it's so much more than looking at home or away.
It really is because you can be a really good team playing on the road and play bad and be in that situation against a lower level home team or vice versa.
And in that case, if it was vice versa where you're the dominant team as a home team, you kick the extra point and you go into overtime.
But I was very surprised that they did it.
Like I said, it ended up working out.
But as a coach, that's just one of the many scenarios and the theories that you have to have.
And now on your playbook, on your play sheet, whatever you want to call it, you have that section where they have the two points.
plays and you always work on it Thursdays, Fridays, pre-practice, whatever. And if it was me, I would
have gone for it there. But again, it worked out for him, ended up being the right decision. What do you
think, Coney? Well, we talked about this in the cave on Saturday, and I thought that they should
have gone for two. And so much of it is the momentum of the game, like you were talking about. Stanford
had the momentum early. Oregon kind of dominated later in the game. And then, yes, Stanford scored
late. I guess you could say they regained some of the momentum. But still, I think that that's a good
opportunity right there. You're the underdog to go for two and to put them away right there.
But hey, whatever worked for them, they still got the upset. Great win for Stanford. And I just think
that there's, it's like you said, momentum plays a factor. And then you're the underdog. You have a
chance with one play to beat the number three team in the country. Put them away right there.
Yeah, I agree. I think this comes down to who you're playing, right? Who you're playing.
I agree. If you're playing a team like Oregon and you're in it to the final seconds of the game and
you have that momentum, you go score, and I'm at home and I'm that coach, I'm going to
for two every time because you're playing against a roster that's obviously better than you and you're
obviously somewhat surprised that you're here in this situation right now in the late fourth quarter to win a game
and you're at home and it all depends on who you're playing in my opinion you got a top three team that you have a
chance to beat late in the game i am taking i'm going for two every time because you know as an OC you have
that one play you have that one place the annexation of puerto rico card that you go to to win a huge
game. And if it's me, it worked out for Stanford, but if it's me, I'm scoring that touchdown,
and I'm going to turn to two, and I'm putting the dagger in, and the crowd's going to storm
the field on the two-boy conversion. But it ends up works out. It's one of those hero-to-zero things.
You either look like a genius or you just look dumb sometimes. Exactly. And we kind of asked
Lane Kiffin about going for it on fourth down like that. But that's our Wickels Pickle the
week. Wickles Pickles, look, it's the move, guys. I don't know another way to explain it to you.
We eat them at the house. I mean, you put them on sandwiches. You can eat them straight up, but it's not
just pickles. It's Okra. They've got a ton of different stuff. I mean, the Dill
pickles are really good too. To kind of explain it, it's not spicy. It's got like a zing to it,
but it's just different. Like you have your bread and butter pickles. You're like, all right, cool,
those are sweet, man. Like, I've been eating those my whole life, this, that, and the other.
You got your dill pickles, you know, it's a little bit for the more dry sense of humor.
But this one is just different. It's like that, it's like the, it's like the Sour Patch Kids commercials,
right? If you remember those, it's like, they're bad, like, they're not bad, but they like do something
bad. They're sweet. They are. It's just good. And then it comes.
the sweet. Here's what you need to do. It's a pretty simple fix. Go to any grocery store that has human
beings working in it and they've got Wickel's pickles. Just go buy a jar of them. I don't have a
promo code or anything for you guys. I'm doing this for you guys because they're the best
pickles on the planet. So go check them out. That's Wickel's Pickles Pickles. That's our Wickels
pickle of the week. I love saying that phrase for some reason why. It's pretty simple.
All right. Speaking of pickles and problems and going for it and taking chances, we have

He has to guard Julius Randall.

I obviously haven't watched enough.
Did people not like it?
Like?
Yeah.
Just because we?
Yeah.
We'll be recapping the big conclusion in the 50th season.

All right, everybody, as promised Ole Miss head football coach Lane Kiffin here joining us on a busy week.
Coach Kiffin, I appreciate it, man.
I know y'all got a lot going on.
You got it.
Glad to be on here.
Yeah, well, man, you know, I appreciate the,
the love on Twitter, too, the other day.
And I got to start there, man.
Did you ding-dong door ditch Michael Wilbon or something?
I don't know.
It really was like that.
The crazy thing is I've never met him before.
So everyone says that.
I watched him.
They're like, God, what did you do?
Do you guys grow up together and, you know, have an issue in ninth grade or something?
It's like you stole his lunch money or something, man.
I couldn't believe it.
Had to go in there and throw one for you.
Girlfriend sophomore year.
Well, man.
look, you know, it kind of is what it is.
It shocked me, and like I said, appreciated the love on Twitter.
But, you know, Coach, you guys coming off a game against Alabama, a tough win, part of playing in the SEC West.
And, you know, looking at the fourth downs you guys went for, and you've talked about it,
was that the plan going in the whole way that we feel like, you know, we're going to go for these and take these chances?
I mean, you said it yourself, scared money doesn't make money.
Yeah, I mean, it's expected, you know, and especially, you know, media that, you know, very easy.
to criticize.
Yeah.
But whatever it was the year before, I think we're 5-5-1-5 versus Alabama.
So then it was, oh, man, that's awesome.
They're aggressive.
They realize they got a score to win.
But when you don't make it, then it's, you know, what are they doing?
You know, they're giving the game away.
So if you watch the game and watch how we played, watch how they played,
and how they dominated the line of scrimmages, and you would have punted.
You would have lost either way.
True.
Very true.
And, you know, again, like you said, it's easy to criticize.
hindsight's always 20-20.
And when it works, you look like a genius.
And when it doesn't, they're going to pile on.
That's just how it is.
The crown is heavy.
But coach, I do got to ask you, too, you know, the Manning cast,
Coach Saban going on there the other day.
They were talking about you a little bit on there.
When are you going to hop on with Eli and Peyton here soon and chop it up?
Man, that's something I got to see.
And I know there's a certain quarterback that might have helped out with.
That's a good question.
I've not been invited.
I was thinking maybe they were trying to help us by distracting saving last.
I haven't thought of his film.
I didn't work.
All right, Coach Kiffin, you know, going to the NFL, you're a guy that even as young as you've
are, you've gone to the NFL in college and you've seen both of it.
And we've seen this happen across the college landscape, NFL landscape.
Coach Saban went there, came back.
Spurrier went there, came back.
Coach Carroll had success going from USC to the NFL.
And now you see Urban Meyer.
What are your thoughts on just the difference there and what Urban's experiencing now
is compared to college?
Because you've seen both worlds, inside and out, and you've been a head coach at both.
Well, I think it's a little, I think it's really different in dealing with the players.
I think what you kind of see over time, you know, is that can't be quite as strict maybe,
can't be, you know, hey, this is going no matter what, you've got to communicate more with the players.
And I think that's, you know, you've heard those conversations, whether that was,
they've been, you know, is his stop with Miami, you know, or, you know, Tom Coughlin a long time ago at the Giants,
you know, where you've kind of seen that more, okay, hey, let's work with the players
versus this is the way we're doing it no matter what.
Yeah, that makes sense.
That makes sense.
And again, it's such a different league.
You're in there all day with them.
It's just ball.
I know some coaches prefer that over recruiting and academics and keeping up with that.
But, you know, coach, my last question for you while we got you on here is, you know,
you do a really good job on social media.
And you use social media kind of as a way, not only in recruiting, but just the overall
aspect of, you know, the hashtag come to the sip.
And you're starting to see more coaches do that.
Do you think that's kind of where we're going because social media is such a big tool
in our everyday lives?
I do.
I think that, you know, like the interview you referred to when people kind of attack you
and I think that that's grouped in there like, oh, he's just kind of a clown or off
the wall or whatever, you know.
That Twitter stuff's on purpose.
Yeah.
You know, that energy and recruiting, when I, I'm just kind of, I'm just kind of a clown.
walk into
recruits home,
I hear all the time
from a parent,
oh man,
we love following you
on Twitter,
and it just starts
conversation.
So that's done
on purpose,
and I think some people
don't understand that.
Yeah,
I know you got a big one
this week, Coach.
I know y'all
are looking forward to it,
playing, again,
an Arkansas team
that was just ranked
in the top 10.
You go from one
to the other,
and I appreciate you
taking some time.
And let's do this again,
man.
I guess I'll see you
on the Twitter sphere.
All right, man.
Have a great weekend.
Thanks.
All right,
Kiffin, thanks, buddy. Oh, hold on, guys. Sorry, just enjoying some of these wiggles
pickles pickles.
Lane Kevin's the man. He's the best, dude.
Lane train. The lane train is the best.
I always talk about Wilbon. It's like, what I take your girlfriend in high school or something?
Probably did. I mean, what's, my son don't get it.
I don't think he gets it. It goes back to what Wilbon said. You can say a lot of things.
Call me a bad coach.
Say I make bad decisions. Just don't call me a clown.
Yeah, don't call me a clown, man.
It's a fight more. It's like Bryce Young, like Bryce Harper, you say, man, like
That's a clown question, man.
Hey, Michael Wilbon got all y'all talking about him, didn't he?
He did.
We did.
We need to get Wilbonne on the show to explain to his side of it.
We should get, we need to get Mike.
We can get Kornheiser in here too.
He just wave that Canadian flag, which is all around in here.
But now, look, I like the answer, too, about going for it on Fort Town.
He literally said if we did not go for it on Fort Town, we were going to lose.
Yeah, the only way Bama was getting stopped is his Bama stopped itself.
That's exactly right.
I think they felt like they had to square every drive because Alabama was turned around and handed off.
Me and Bryce Young were talking about that on the show I do with him on my show I do with him on
Monday night. I mean, look, you're going to give it to us. We're going to take it.
Yeah, it's not like Ole Miss was going to adjust at all on defense.
No, so Ole Miss is shutting him down. It's like, yeah, we're actually going to run a three-one.
And they are better than they were, but it's just Lane. I mean, it's just the truth. It's just the truth. And we appreciate him coming on. I'm sure what happened on again. And then I thought it was interesting talking about the Manning cast.
He wants to go in there. Savin's just being 60 chess. Just a witch. Just a witch. A hundred percent. Always a step ahead. But, no, I'm sure they'll get him on there soon. You said they're off the Manningcast for a couple of. You said they're off the Manningcast for a couple of
weeks, huh? I read that they were off for, they were off for three weeks. So this past
Monday the next month. I thought that's what I, I thought that's what I read because
they said, man, how nice is it that the mannings can just pick and choose which Monday is?
But hey, I didn't fact check that. I don't know. You guys tell me. It's like the carrot and the
stick operation going on over there. It's like, look how good it is. We're going to take it away.
Then we can give it back to you. See how excited you are about it. But no, I appreciate Coach Kiffin
stopping by. Guys, that gives us, you look down the list. You know, we're, we've racked up on some
coaches now. We've had Harsin. We've had Kiffman. We've had Leach. We've had, we've had, um,
Beamer.
Beamer.
We've had,
uh, golly.
Musclemen and basketball.
Bruce Pearl.
We're getting done that.
I want to get Pitman on.
I want to get Coach Pittman on from Arkansas.
Coach Saban.
Coach Saban.
Come on,
Coach.
Come on, coach.
I know you got time.
Come on.
Let's do it.
We got a bunch of little debby's all bring in here.
It'll just turn into a little Debbie party.
And some wickles.
You know that he knows.
Oh, and you know that he knows that you know that I know.
Yeah.
We'll send him some wickles.
We'll send him some wickles.
That'll get it done.
So they don't be scared.
goes good better than wickles than little debbies.
The combination you never saw coming.
Yeah, absolutely.
100%.
But speaking about combinations,
God, that's a great segue into the power rankings.
Getting pretty good at this.
Yeah, I know, man.
I'm starting to figure it out for all the bouncing balls like Dr. Seuss over here.
Let's get into the SEC power rankings and then watch everybody yell at us.
Let's bring up the east.
Tell the booster club lane.
I'm going to get to the boost.
We're about to have a huge session with the booster club after these power rankings.
So don't think I forgot about them or we didn't want to take.
their questions.
All right, here we go.
Here's the East.
Just give me one second just to just soak in Kentucky being number two legitimately after
just, and I hate to keep going back to this, but again, if you could.
If you think people were pissed about the Chiaris thing the other day, you should have
seen like the Kentucky when I had him number two.
They're like, get him out, kill him.
They're like kill him.
Get him out now.
You don't know football.
You decide you don't know football.
He's like, one dude said, and he's a big fan of the show.
And I'm not going to call him out, but he knows who he is.
I love talking this kind of social media. He goes, if Kentucky beats Florida, I'll deactivate my Twitter account.
Have you heard from him? No, I just, right as the last second went off, I was like, look, man, I like you enough, don't do this. You don't have to do this. We enjoy you on the show and everything. But all right, let's go back up there. We got Georgia number one, duh, Kentucky number two, solidified, big one against LSU coming up this weekend. Florida number three, now I will say, as right as I was about Kentucky.
I was off on Missouri.
I was really off on Missouri.
I thought their front seven on defense wouldn't fall off a cliff like that.
So you got to put Ford at three.
And then you got to put Tennessee at four.
Sure.
I mean, they ran through Vanderbilt like malaria, man.
I mean, and then you look at USC, number five, have to put them there.
I'm not putting Missouri in front of USC right now.
I don't think Missouri could stop the run game of South Carolina.
I don't think Missouri could stop the run game of about four to five high schools.
They've got some really good players.
I could walk out this college football Hall of Fame and go either direction and find.
It was Missouri for Tennessee, not Vanderbilt.
Yes.
Yeah, that's exactly right.
That's exactly right.
And then Vandy number seven, you know, it is what it is.
Y'all be Yukon by two?
That's bad, man.
You con not, look, we talk about Vandy being bad and stuff like this and ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Yukon is bad.
They're like, bad, bad, bad.
They didn't play football last year.
No, and you can, they're not playing football this year.
What do you mean?
When they start playing football?
That's awful.
They were a lot better last year.
Undefeated.
Not a lot of people know that Connecticut went undefeated in football last year.
That's bad, big year for them.
Hard turnaround, man.
Him and Ed O, just hard turnarounds.
All right, let's get to the Wicked, Wicked West, which is what it is.
Alabama number one.
I'm going to leave Ole Miss at number two right now.
Why is that?
Even though I believe that Arkansas has a good chance to beat him.
It's at home, though, against Ole Miss.
my question for Arkansas is how beat up are you really?
Like really, like not who's out, not who's injured,
but who can barely pick their legs up right now
and how long, and it's great about football,
you have a week till the next game,
I just think Arkansas up front.
Because you don't play Texas, Texas A&M,
you can throw Georgia Southern there and get beat up,
you know, physically, not they won the game,
they beat them up, but physically be a little beat up.
And then go Georgia to play.
Georgia and get healthy. You don't play Georgia and get healthier.
That's not how it works. So you're like at Ole Miss this weekend. I'm starting to
like them. I went on Chris Vernon's show today. Shout out Grind City Media out of Memphis
and said that, you know, gun to my head right now, I think Arkansas could control the pace
of the game. So I like Arkansas to cover. Not winning the game, but the cover. But I just,
I wonder how healthy they are and it's going on the road. But I'm just in love with this game
and the two different offensive ideologies clashing. And it turns into, all right, who's going to
the pace. Who's going to control the pace? Because on defense, you're going to do similar things.
It can be, you know, Ole Miss out of the 3-26 with what they're doing with all the radar stuff.
Then you got Arkansas out of the 425 and then there's, excuse me, out of the 3-4.
And they mix and matched that a little bit. Because look, guys, most of the time when you're in 3-down, it turns into 4-down.
It's just how you do it. Now, the alignment is a true 4-down over-fronts.
And what an over-front is, and we've talked about it on the show, is both the defensive ends are on
on the outside shoulder of the tackle.
All right.
The three tech, which is why I call them the three tech in the over,
is on the outside shoulder of the guard to the strong side.
And then you have a backside shade or a backside, you know, clothes,
whatever you want to call them.
But in the three down, typically, you go head up to center,
which is what you see Auburn doing with Tony Fair and those guys,
which is a zero.
And you can play four eyes, which is the inside shoulder of the tackle on the ends,
and you can change up and mix up gaps and do different things
and change leverages out of that.
That's why people go to it.
but I'm so interested to see how these offenses,
who can control the pace of the game.
Well, you would think Arkansas because Ole Miss can't stop the run.
That's the biggest question.
That's why the biggest question for Ole Miss,
and we're going to get in the keys of the game Friday,
and I want to get too far ahead of myself.
But you're right.
The key to the game for Ole Miss has nothing to do with offense.
It's got nothing to do with it.
The key to the game for both these teams is the same thing.
As crazy as that sounds, who can stop the run?
Who can stop the run?
Because if Ole Miss can't stop the run,
Arkansas is just going to sit on the ball.
If Arkansas can't stop the run, it opens up the whole kitchen for Ole Miss on offense,
and then they start going peepoo, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, super fast.
But you would think if you come down and look at these teams that Arkansas would be able to stop the run versus the Ole Miss team.
I think that's why I'm, that's why I would pick Arkansas to cover right now.
And before the end of the week, I may take a money line.
I really might.
Because if you control the clock, you control the pace.
If you control the pace, you control the narrative of the game, how it goes.
It goes how you want it to go.
And then the other team is having to adjust and get out of their element because again, guys, I talked about this last week.
Ole Miss is like a team, like a basketball team that can get hot shooting threes and just bury you.
But if you throw them out of rhythm, if you get them out of transition and you take them out of their normal offensive rhythm, they're not going to do the same thing.
And if you take away the run, that's going to sew their rhythm off all the time because they want to be on the field.
Quick score, get off the field, get back on the field, quick score, get off the field,
and they get in that rhythm, and it goes, and it goes, and just like anything in life,
if you change the rhythm, because that's what football is, it's like dancing.
It's timing and rhythm, especially on offense, and if you throw off the timing and you throw off the rhythm,
you throw off the dance, and that's the goal against Tolmiss.
I like that.
So back to the West.
We've got Arkansas three.
We already talked about that.
Auburn 4.
Now, you could make the case that Auburn could be 3.
You could make that case.
But right now I'm not putting them in front of Ole Miss and Arkansas.
I don't know, guys, if that game was more an indictment on LSU.
You are an enlightenment on Auburn.
Those are the two questions that I have.
To me, I would lean more toward an indictment because both teams are one-dimensional,
but Bo Nix played so good.
That doesn't take anything away from Auburn.
That is a great way.
I take nothing.
I see I can say that, but I also go on the other side and you go,
look at that Auburn barely lost the number four team in the country.
Should have won if they don't turn the ball over on the reverse.
The country on the road and went to an LSU in Death Valley that they had won in it was since
1999.
Yeah, is Auburn just better than we think they are?
Are they better than we think they're because I watch the tape?
If you're going to throw that, you have to throw Georgia State in there though.
Yeah, that should have been lost too.
That's a last second hold your breath.
I'm trust you from a guy that was on the sidelines one time when Auburn played Mercer
and almost lost, had five fumbles, I think, in that game.
But those games, I wouldn't say they always happen, but sometimes it happens.
And sometimes it's a wake-up call.
Sometimes it kind of wakes up the beast a little bit in teams to see, like,
we can get beat by any team at any time on any Saturday.
Well, we always talk about it.
You've got to be able to get up.
You have to be the guys, the coaches that can get their guys up the most, the most consistent.
And I think you can only play at your absolute peak three, maybe four times a year.
And that doesn't mean that you're not focused or it doesn't mean that you're not locked in.
but we're dealing with human beings.
Never forget that.
Well, never forget that.
Next three for Auburn.
Georgia, Arkansas, Ole Miss.
Oh, well, we're going to find out.
Little gauntlet.
So Arkansas and Ole Miss.
Yeah.
Welcome to the SEC.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, Brian Hart's welcome to the SEC.
Can you imagine, though?
Can you just, let's just have a little fun here.
Let's just have a little fun.
We always have fun.
Let's have fun.
What would the reaction be if Auburn beat Georgia?
What would the reaction be?
Like, in my mind, I don't think it's going to happen.
What's the reaction at the end of your movie script when the aliens invade?
Yeah.
It blames aliens.
Something like that.
I saw a movie that is on Netflix.
Oh, my goodness.
Here he goes.
Like, something happened on the earth, right?
They had to leave the earth.
Go live on a moon base with some people from way back in the day,
has to go live on a moon base and fight another planet against other people.
and I watched a show last night.
I'm going to talk about that at the end.
Don't steal my thunder on that because I was shocked to what I saw.
Inner Earth versus outer space is it a way?
So is it a reaction like that?
If Auburn were to beat Georgia, it's probably a reaction like.
They'd probably, will they roll tumors?
I think there's a better chance.
They would burn the sea.
Like, dude, I don't, like, listen, there'd be no toilet paper within a 300-mile radius of Auburn.
But look, and the odds of it happening aren't good.
But I'm talking about nationally.
Does Auburn just jump in the top five?
Are you just like, oh my gosh?
Well, here we go.
Yeah.
I almost top 10.
Not even top 10.
I mean, you're top five.
I mean, you beat Georgia who's been head over heels better than everybody, the best defense I've ever seen in my life.
Having said that, having said that, I just don't see it.
It's the reason that game's already up to 17.
Yeah.
They started at 14 and a half.
That's what I said it.
You called it.
Wait, is it 17 now?
I thought it was 16 and a half.
16.
But it's okay.
I bet it keeps going up.
I think it does.
I think it does.
I have it at 14 and a half.
But now that'd be wild.
That'd be the biggest upset of your bite.
by leaps and bounds because the two teams, I'm telling you,
the difference between personnel up front in Auburn and Georgia is huge.
It's huge.
It's one of the reasons Gus Malzahn's not there anymore.
To be honest with you.
Harston jumbo money.
Hey, Harston already did what Gus Malzahn could.
Where Stephen Lees will just sneak back into Auburn and be like, pay him $800 million.
Give my house back.
But all right, Blaine, let's get to the booster club.
And then I want to talk about this show I saw on Netflix that just scared,
it just came out of nowhere.
It just freaked out about it.
It just freaked me out.
We got a question here from the salty dog.
And he asked, what do you think about Dan Laning to LSU?
But bring back physicality and toughness on defense,
exactly what y'all talked about yesterday,
and recruit his ass off.
Look, I don't think it'd be a bad hire.
Dan's going to get a job somewhere.
Now, when I think about that, to me, if I'm LSU,
I'd make a run at Mark Stoops first.
If I'm going that angle, I'd make a run at Mark Stoops.
I really would.
I'd throw the bag at him if I was going to go that route.
But, look, Dan Langing, I don't think people,
would be upset with that.
Now, if you look at it from a personality fit standpoint, I always laugh.
You know, the personality can fit if you win.
Any personality can fit if you win.
But I wonder if you look at Dan Lannning and his reputation, I mean, this guy is a savant defensively.
But he's also, when I look at his demeanor, he's not a freak out guy.
He's not a guy that's freaking out and yelling all the time.
He's pretty narrow focused and pretty, I would, I would,
I would say buoyant as opposed to just going off the handles left and right or this
and the other.
I don't think it'd be a bad fit.
Is it the best fit?
No, but I like the name drop right there.
But if it's me and I'm LSU, I take a shot at Mark Stoops and then have Dan Lannning
down the ladder.
Ask Salty Dog this.
Would he rather have Dan Lannning or Marcus Freeman from Notre Dame?
Ask him that because I think those are two different personalities, but two great defensive
minds.
Two great defensive minds.
So we have a question here from Bobby Personetti asked, can South Carolina,
to beat Tennessee this weekend?
I mean, they could.
Tennessee would have to turn the ball over a lot,
but, you know, as down as Tennessee is from a personnel standpoint,
even though, I mean, Hind and Hooker looking like the guy, man,
you know, against Missouri.
But I just don't think that South Carolina has the personnel
to score enough points with what Tennessee is going to do.
Tennessee's defense, even though they don't have a ton of depth
and they're operating at that warp speed,
once you get up enough, it really doesn't matter.
And that's what Tennessee did in Missouri.
They got up big enough where the game was over.
But for South Carolina to win this game, it needs to be low-scoring and ugly.
You need some turnovers from Tennessee and a big play on special teams.
Look, Shane Beamer was the right hire.
They're going to be really happy with Shane Beamer, I think, after about two, three years down the road because he's going to recruit really well.
But right now, it is what it is, guys.
It is what it is.
And you can't get frustrated.
The personnel is the personnel.
I think Tennessee, I would take Tennessee right now.
the points. Things take time to get. Especially football. Like I always say, this isn't basketball.
Not that it's easy to coach college basketball, but I can go out and get two guys that change
the whole complexion of my season. I'm playing with five on the floor. In baseball, I can go get
a pitcher or two that's thrown a hundred and controls a game. It's a lot easier than when you're
dealing with football. And in baseball, you have nine on the field, but it's not nearly as fluent as it
is in football. And if one guy screws up in baseball or basketball, it doesn't really, it's not a
death knell. But in football, if one guy screws up, it can ruin everything and ruin it in a hurry.
Absolutely. We got a question here from Isaiah Moore, hashtag Ask J-Boy. If you had to choose between
Kirby, Dabbo, or Jimbo Fisher to start your program from nothing and build a dynasty within five to
10 years, who are you taking? I'm going Kirby smart. And that's, it's a great question. And it's not by a lot. But what I
like about Kirby is.
Kirby's real. Like when you watch, you know, even the videos that kind of get leaked of him
talking to the guys and, and the way, you know, he motivates and how he's honest with them and
how he's funny, but he's serious and it's about business. And he's got the blueprint from Sabin,
and he knows how to build it, which he's shown. I don't think anybody can say that he doesn't
know how to build a program. Even though Georgia is, it's not an easy place to win, but it's one
when you look in the grand scheme of things, it's one of the best jobs out there with some of the best high school athletic,
some of the best, you know, resources out there. And they love football to death in the state of Georgia.
I think Kirby, to me, personality-wise, is a guy that if I was an 18 to 22-year-old and I was as competitive as these guys are,
I like a guy like that. Not that Jimbo isn't competitive, but they kind of go about it a different way.
Like Kirby's going to gas you up. Like Kirby's, Kirby's, Kirby,
smart may have the best pregame speeches in college football.
And nobody would know that outside of the people that are in there.
But I would pick Kirby because I think he can recruit.
I think he's real.
I think he can motivate.
He knows defense,
but he's learning too how to not micromanage the offense,
even though they don't have right now,
you know, they're not an exotic elite,
throwed around, go crazy type of offense.
We thought they'd take the next step with Todd Munkin,
but they got so beat up.
It was what it was.
But I would take Kirby. It's a great question.
You got a question here from Parker Ivy, and he asks, can Georgia beat Auburn without establishing the run game?
I don't think so.
And again, again, this is saying that Auburn doesn't turn it over on offense, and there's not a couple defensive scores or a special team score or a block punt or something.
If everything is even, and Georgia can't run the ball on Auburn, and you have Stetson Bennett out there or at J.T. Daniels that isn't nearly as healthy as what he normally is,
I think Georgia to stay on pace, to stay on track, wants to run the ball and open up the pass later.
You're not going to see a ton of vertical stuff from Georgia.
You're not going to see it this week.
And now that they've got Darnell Washington back, if I'm Auburn, I'm expecting 12 personnel,
I'm expecting gap scheme, interior, big on big, and them to run right at you like they did against Arkansas
and just try and establish it and dominate the line of scrimmage.
But if they can't, and it gets ugly.
The only way, and I'll say it again, I said it yesterday,
the only way that Auburn can win this game is if it's ugly.
It needs to be ugly.
What does ugly mean?
13 to 10.
And if Georgia can't run the ball, they're not going to get an empty with Stetson
Bennett.
They're going to do what they did against Clemson.
They're going to say, you know what?
We'll just wait you out.
It's 7 to nothing.
We're up 9 to 3.
We'll just wait you out the rest of the game and see if you can move the ball.
And the defense for Georgia is totally fine with that.
They're the type guys where they're like,
Put it on it, please.
And see, these are the differences in guys that win championships and don't.
The guys that win championships are the guys that say, you know what, put it on me.
Or when it's in the bottom of the ninth and there's two outs and you're playing shortstop,
you hoped hit me the ground ball.
Or you're a wide receiver and it's fourth and eight or third and eight,
and you get a first down can ice the game and they're calling a pass at the combination
you're the first read.
Throw it to me.
Please, God, throw it to me so I can do it.
I think Georgia has those guys on defense.
I think Georgia says we will live and die.
by us and that's the best way to do it.
Yep, I agree. That's the best way to do it.
We got a question here from Bob Williams. What's up, Bob?
Bob. Will Arkey turn back to a pumpkin or will they continue to be a carriage after this past
Saturday? Look, again, when I'm looking at Arkansas and you said it, Cohn, they're playing
with house money right now. Now, it can't fall off a cliff. But just talking with Grant Morgan,
Arkansas linebacker like we did yesterday. Great conversation. Those guys, to me, aren't,
well, we lost the game. Seasons over. You know, we're not going to win a national championship
season's over, we're done. Those guys are playing for something way bigger than themselves.
Grant said it best. We are putting the state on our back in Arkansas,
Les the state gets the job done. And when we're representing the state, that's what Arkansas is.
When y'all need us, y'all call us, and we'll get the job done. And those guys show up every week.
He was talking about practice. Can we win? That's why I know he's going to be a head coach.
Can we win Monday? Can we win Tuesday? Can we win Wednesday? Can we win Thursday? Can we win Friday? And if we win
all those, if we win all those, we will win Saturday. We will win Saturday. And Arkansas
to mean he's not going to fall off the cliff. I don't think it's turning back into a pumpkin.
It's how high can we go? Can we go nine and three? Because again, you're already sitting,
what, four and one? Your four and one ranked top 15 in the country. You just went and played the best
team in the country. Now, did you get embarrassed? Yes. But that's not going to happen every week.
This isn't old Arkansas. Old Arkansas would fold. Old Arkansas would fold. They're not going to fold under
Sam Pittman because that's the culture he's instilled in him and those are the type people that
he has. So I don't say Arkansas turn it back into a pumpkin. I don't think this is a Cinderella story
anymore. I think we've got to start treating Arkansas instead of like the person that showed up at
the ball and while they look good to we expect this person to show up to the ball and look good
because that's who they are. It's great question. Great question. I agree. We have a question
here. Let me find him from Colin and he asks, give me, he wants your top three job.
jobs in the country.
For LSU.
Oh, top, wait, wait, what.
Top three candidates for LSU.
Top three candidates.
Number one for me, Mario Cristobal.
And people say, oh, well, he's happy out of Oregon.
It's just like I talked about with this LSU and USC job and this ego thing.
Mario wants in the SEC, I'm telling you right, I promise you.
After talking to the people that I know, Mario wants back in the SEC.
And there was some flirtation with that Auburn job last year and Mario Cristobal.
and LSU, if you just think about it, you talk about a fit.
Mario Cristobal is one of the best recruiters of offensive and defensive linemen in the country.
Recruiting in general.
But he's been at Alabama.
He's got the blueprint as well.
He knows how it works.
He knows life in the SEC.
And Mario Cristobal, to me, is competitive enough to say, you know what, damn it, I want to see if I can go there and do it.
I want to see if I can go there and do it.
And I think he can.
If I'm an LSU fan, I would break the bank for Mario Cristobal.
I really would because guess what?
Mario Cristobal is not intimidated by Alabama.
Mario Cristobal is not intimidated by Florida.
He's not intimidated by A&M, not just on the field, but in the living room.
With the parents there, with the families there, with talking them into it.
At the end of the day, that is what's going to get the product on the field where it needs to be.
So I'd put Mario Cristobal number one when I looked at it.
And I'm not putting Jimbo Fisher on this list because he's not leaving LSU.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Now, if we're talking about dream candidates, I throw Joe Brady on there.
But he's not leaving the NFL either.
Let me tell you a guy that if I was LSU, I would take a hard look at.
And two of them are coordinators.
I'll tell you two of them.
One, Jeff Leby from Ole Miss.
He's going to get a job.
If Lane were to go somewhere, if Lane were to go to UFC, they'd hire Jeff Leby.
He's the guy that needs to start being taken seriously.
Because he's just shown everywhere he's been.
It's a problem fixer.
He's a problem fixer.
That's what he does.
I think he really may be the glue.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised.
I'd really would not be shot.
Because Lane's got to be over the whole thing now.
Lane just can't be hanging out with Matt Corral all the time
and then playing, you know, Tetris or whatever,
or, you know, Pokemon Snap or something like that.
So I think Leby may actually be the glue of this whole thing.
I really may, I really think that.
And not that Lane is not important or this, not and the other,
but I think he may be the glue.
Another one is Marcus Freeman from Notre Dame.
And there's a lot of guys in coaching struggles that know this guy.
is coming. And people will say Luke Fickle, and I do not think you're wrong to throw him on that
list. But Marcus Freeman, the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame, who was at Cincinnati with
Luke Fickle, is a guy that recruits absolutely love to death. Absolutely love to death.
I think the kids will play hard for him. He is unbelievably smart defensively with the checks
and all the exotics that he has. He has an unbelievable exotics package that I think he can
bring to LSU, and he would get LSU people excited. I think those are two guys that you need to
watch as well.
We have another question here from Hayden Fullwood.
And he asked, will the tight ends be a big matchup
for the Auburn pass game this weekend?
Or were they try and go back to the past game,
kind of former from the previous four games?
Well, your best pass catcher right now is John Samuel Shanker.
Yeah.
I mean, if all's fair, if all is fair,
throw it to 47, they have to be.
And against the defense, and we've talked about this,
against a defense as dominant as Georgia,
you can't just do one thing.
You're not just going to out one thing.
You've got to do a little bit of everything,
you've got to do it well because the more they have to prepare for or even not even prepare for
but during the game takes seriously the more ability you have to find space maybe those windows will be
a little bit bigger maybe the misdirection will hit a little bit more so to me it has to be everything
the tight ends have to be a threat in the red zone especially but don't think georgia doesn't realize
that 47 john samuel shanker is a security blanket for boat nix don't think they're not watching the
table and say okay five struggles to get off press 11 can't get off press john samuel shanker
banker's the only guy that's really able to get down and get open and he's Bo Nix's security
blanket. So Georgia's going to take that away. They're going to make you beat somebody else.
They will look, Georgia's going to make Auburn beat them outside. For sure. And can
Auburn do that? So I mean, that wide receiver room again has got to step up. Kobe Hudson
made a big play in the game that says you, but that's one play. Shedric Jackson still on the
back of a milk carton. Nobody knows where he is.
Got a question here from Hayden Matthews. Who do you like this weekend, Ellis, Kentucky?
Spread or straight up?
Straight up.
Kentucky.
This may be the death knell for Etto.
It may be now you're looking at Boutte's not out at practice.
Stingley's probably out for the rest of the year.
I would think he's done for the year.
Bouté's not out there?
They said Boutte wasn't out at the live, you know, whatever.
Now, again, he could just be in the tub or something,
but he wasn't out there.
They're making a big deal about it earlier.
If that guy's not there, oh, man, you guys are in trouble.
Because Kentucky, but, you know, when you look at Kentucky,
This is what Mark Stoops, I guarantee you.
You talk about winning the water cooler.
Let me take you inside the facility for a second.
Here's what Mark Stoops is telling them this week.
Guys, congrats on the great win.
It's funny, 24-hour rule, right?
We hear this coach say you've got a 24-hour rule after a win.
Well, the 24-hour rule after a win is almost as dangerous as the 24-hour rule after a loss.
After a loss, you know you've got to come back.
After a win, you know, everything's better, the food's better, the drink,
better. You know, you don't care about going to class anymore.
Not that you're not going to go, but I'll go to class. I love geography 102.
Let's go get it, man. I'm going to talk about where Tanzania is. I got no clue where that is.
Everything's just better. But it can also kind of manipulate the routine that you have at practice.
Maybe inside drill's not as live on Tuesdays. Maybe you're going through it. Maybe you're just ready to get to the game and ball again, coach.
That's not how you sustain success. So I know Mark Stoopson then.
are hammering in those players' heads that you better take this week as seriously as you took last week.
And I think Kentucky, and you've got to think, too, Kentucky is not used to having the success in football like this.
They're really not used to it.
So it's not like you have years of guys on the team that understand can tell the young guys, guys calm down.
We're five and oh, that means nothing.
We beat Florida, great, great.
So that's the challenge right now, I think, in Kentucky, but I like Kentucky.
Kentucky straight up. I like that. I've got a question here from Flight 19. Take it. Do you see Chris,
do you think Chris Ball would take the Bama job when Saban retires in 28 if Savon retires in 28 if
Savin retires in 20? Savin seems to like him and will have a lot of input on his replacement.
Well, again, it's what's available. I don't think Saban's leaving for at least another three to five
years. And there's going to be a job that pops open, whether it be LSU, somebody like that,
whether it be Florida. Miami. Miami.
even though I don't think they have,
I think Mario's smart enough to know they don't have the resource.
Maybe Mario's the guy they say, you know what? Fine.
Fine. We're that desperate.
It gets to that point. We're that desperate that we'll finally throw the money.
But it's just circumstantial.
If it does open sooner than that and Mario is still at Oregon,
I think he takes it.
Here's the real question, though.
Let's just say, let's play another game of what if.
Why not?
What if LSU fires Edo and hires Mario Cristobal and two years later,
Saban retires?
and Alabama goes after him.
Can you imagine how pissed LSU people will be
if you already had Saving go really from LSU
to the NFL to Bama, but still.
And then Mario, would Mario go?
But I know we're just looking way into the kaleidoscope.
So Alabama?
I'm talking about from LSU.
It's different going to Alabama from Oregon
than it is from going to LSU to Alabama.
He can't if Dabo Sweeney already gets that job first.
You are so on this Dabo Sweeney.
I don't know, they keep losing.
The Bama folks are going to be like, nope.
Like, but I played for bear.
Nope.
Don't care.
I don't care.
I don't care.
I don't care.
Where you are at.
What team you are at.
If Alabama offers you the job,
you're taking it.
Really?
And you played there?
Regardless, if you played there, you watch that, yeah.
Regardless, if Alabama offers you a job, I don't care if you're the, the Jaguars.
What if you're a ball in an LSU?
What if he goes to LSU and all the sudden LSU starts?
Well, ball and out.
as in what?
You beat Bama.
Okay, then that's different.
If you're beating Saving.
What do you mean that's different?
If you're beating Saving, I don't see Crystal Ball's going to go in there and two years start
beating Saving.
Why not?
Because I don't think anybody.
Kirby still has to do with this team.
Gus beat him in his first year.
And they keep going.
What happened?
I'm not saying, you talked about the first year.
I'm saying what you said.
I'm not on trial.
You're on trial.
That's fine.
I'm saying if Ballin is beating Saving, then he's going to say it LSU.
But in LSU and you say he's going to be there for two years.
You think he's going to fix that program around to just to do.
go beat Bama.
LSU could turn around real quick, bud.
Well, yeah, if you hit Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, and Jefferson all in the same team.
What?
You're the one who said it earlier, the last three coaches at one national titles.
Yeah, look at you.
That's fine.
One of those coaches are who.
Professor, you know what?
You like the South Park character.
You're like Captain Hindsight.
It's Nick Saban.
That's who does.
If Alabama offers you the job, he's going to take it.
If he's at Oregon, yes.
If he's at LSU, I don't think he does.
Here's a real question, though.
Do they go after Bill O'Brien?
Who?
LSU?
You know, someone's going to.
Someone's going to.
I'm on the Hugh Freed's bus.
I'm on the bus.
But see, that's the thing with Hugh Freeze, though.
As long as Greg Sanky, I'll tell our audience again,
and I'll say a lot of for the people in the back.
It's not that Hugh Freeze would get blocked
from getting a job in the SEC.
The problem is, as long as Greg Sanky is in the SEC,
they're not going to block him,
but they're going to audit them every year.
I don't care if it's NIL or not.
And you cannot win in this league with a hand.
tied behind your back. You can't. It's different than Urban Meyer. Urban Meyer'd come in. They
wouldn't say anything to him because they didn't happen in the SEC any crazy stuff going on.
So with Hugh Freeze, that's just the deal. Now would Hugh Freeze go at LSU and ball?
Man, yes he would. Yes, he would. Hugh Freeze at LSU is scary.
Hugh Freeze at Florida, scary. You talk about scoring points. You want to talk about offenses?
Imagine this. Conan, imagine this.
What if you had Hugh Freeze at LSU and Lane at Ole Miss?
Man, if I'm in DC, I'm like, and Mike Lise, I'm like, man, what's going on?
Man, this sucks.
Like, this sucks.
Can we get Steve Insminger back in here?
We get Steve Ensminger.
You got me going against these witches?
But no, it's a great question.
A few more from the booster club, B.
Yeah, I'm hopping in here.
Hop in here.
What does they think about Hugh Freeze LLC?
That's interesting.
Bob Blitz says every coach worth his salt would want the Bama job.
I agree, Bob.
Of course you do.
I love how you just chair.
pick. That's the latest comment on the thing.
Do we know a con asked, do we know if JT's starting this Saturday?
I don't yet. I don't think we're going to know that until game time.
You know, it may leak out there, but I just, I get a feeling it's going to be Stetson.
I got a feeling it's going to be Stetson.
But shout out to the Booster Club.
Great stuff.
Great show today.
