Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Welcome, welcome back. It's the Richard Sherman
podcast. I'm here with my guy,
some of you guys' favorite guy,
Mitch Eisenstein. Mitchell, what's going on?
Richard, how are you, sir?
How are you another Monday night
game in the wraps? We didn't
really see it going that way, but it's the way
life's been going recently, where
one team comes in as an underdog
and smacks the living heck out of another
team, and then that's it.
Right, and life goes on.
that's predictable about the NFL right now is the unpredictable nature of the NFL right now.
If you think your team has a gimmie, they're likely going to lose.
Whatever, I got you.
What else you got for me?
Richard, it's trade deadline time, and we got a couple trades that came hot off the presses for us today.
I'm going to start with one.
A little bit of a game changer here.
The Baltimore Ravens go out and grab Roquan Smith.
Your thoughts on that move?
Baltimore Ravens get a great defender.
That pretty much sounds like the way the NFL is.
I mean, Baltimore, defense.
I mean, it's weird that Chicago give up a great defender and not pay him.
Sounds like a problematic move.
A dumb move.
Idiotic.
You don't lost your dang minds.
Well, and the other one is my hometown lions traded T.J. Hawkinson.
Going to the division rival, the Minnesota Vikings.
Kirkco gets another weapon in Minnesota.
I mean, nice pick up for Minnesota.
I mean, I'll let you chime in if you want,
but I think this speaks more to how poorly managed Detroit has been over the years.
Hockinson, a top 10 pick a few years back,
and now he's traded for a second and third round pick.
Your thoughts on what this move means to the Minnesota Vikings?
I mean, it's not as bad as Arizona picking a kid top 10
and then trade him the next year for a pack of chips
send some Skittles.
But whatever, Mitchell, I think it's a fine move.
I don't think it moves the needle for either team.
I don't think Hawkinson was carrying the torch around Detroit.
I think Detroit isn't on a fire sale mode.
I didn't like that they fired Pleasant.
No.
I mean, you don't hear very often of a team firing a DB's coach.
Like, I don't know what he did or said, but I'm sure he isn't the only problem.
You know, he's not called into plays.
But for some reason, he's the guy falling on the sword, which is odd.
But I think it's a fine trade.
You know, I don't think outside of the McCaffrey trade is still the biggest one right now.
You know, it's the one that's going to have the most long term and the most immediate effects on this season.
And it showed last week.
He had three touchdowns in three different ways.
Through it, caught it, ran it out every way you could do it.
They were going to put him at defense so he can get on defense so he can get a pick six at punt returner so he can do that too.
But, you know, you got to keep him safe.
we're, I guess, officially or close enough to the halfway point of this season,
you know, we finally can really start assessing these teams.
And there's some teams that appear to be on the brink of trouble, you know.
I don't want to call it a new segment.
We're going to dive into a new segment.
I'm going to call it the Shermanator, Rich.
You're now the Shermanator.
You got an handful of teams in this league that either got life to them and got a fighting chance
or is it
Asta Le Vista, baby,
for these teams?
Okay, okay, Mitchell,
you're getting way to,
get way to Jazzy.
Dude, this wasn't my idea, okay?
But I'm gonna,
I'll take the credit for it
if I need to.
But Rich,
I'm gonna start with last night's loser
the Cincinnati Bengals.
Is there life to this team
or is it Asta La Vista, baby?
Mitchell, there's life.
He owned a sideline
for four to six weeks.
But that is their only lifeline, Mitchell.
That is their lifeline, Mitchell.
If he is not back soon and the ship isn't afloat when he gets back,
then it's likely, Astala Vista.
But we will see.
I mean, if they look like they did yesterday, just go ahead and fold it up.
They fold it up, save your money.
Fans don't go to the games.
But I will say they still have a chance for now.
And Jamar Chase is one of those guys.
I think he's going to change the game in the sense of how we value the wide receiver
position, right? I mean,
draft the top five overall, helps
have this resurgence of the bangles, gets them
to the Super Bowl, and then all of a
sudden in the offseason, guys like Christian
Kirk are getting paid $19 million a year,
and you're wondering, how the heck
are these wide receivers making this amount of money?
And it's kind of like that Jemar Chase
effect. And Rich, I think you're spot on,
man. I mean, without
Jamar Chase, this offense
is stagnant.
Stinks.
Stinks.
To the NFC West.
We've talked about them once or twice on this show.
You got friends on the team, Rich.
The Denver Broncos, three and five, coming off a win.
They didn't leave Nathaniel Hackett overseas.
They brought them back home with.
They brought them back.
I mean, is it, did they have the life?
Or is it Asta la vista?
I think it's trending towards Asta La Vista, Mitchell.
And by no means of the defense.
Like you said, their second and total defense, first and past.
defense second and scoring. When you got a defense like that, you're not expecting to be three and five
and a play away from two and six. You're not. You're not. You're expecting to be like, hey, we're leading
the league and these categories. Like, we're a guaranteed playoff team. But thank goodness, everybody
else in the division that is in Kansas City is struggling. They're still in it. They still have a
chance, you know, but being 31st and third down percentage, 31st and points per game offensively,
that has to change. It has to be rectifies. And it has to be upside down. Like, they have to have a
second half of the season where they're leading the league top five in a number of categories
offensively to give them a chance or else it's probably asta la vista.
Let's go to the NFC North.
Aaron Rogers and the Green Bay Packers.
This team doesn't look like themselves, Rich.
I think I know the answer to this question, but I'm going to toss it your way to get your input.
Metro, Metro, Mitchell, Mitchell, Mitchell, poor, A-Rot.
But defensively again, second and pass defense, second and third down defense.
Ayrod's still there.
Last year's MVP, but they're 26th and scoring.
29th in rush defense.
Aaron Rogers don't trust nobody.
Like, who does he trust nobody?
Who he going to pass it to in the clutch?
Nobody.
Like, like, what?
What I'm telling you right now is it's tough on Arod right now.
So it's probably Asta la Vista, unless you can get a marriage, an annulment of the trade from the Raiders to the Green Bay Packers.
Unless you can do that, this is, this is Asta LaVista, because you got Kerkow playing well.
And then you got the NFC East, not being the NFC least.
It's looking like the NFC Beast.
And then you got the NFC West with teams that are like.
take that seventh seed away from you.
The only chance you got is that seventh seed,
and that's not going to be easy to grab
with the teams playing well in front of them.
I don't see a savior in sight.
I'm not thinking Christian Watson's going to be the savior.
I'm not thinking Alan Lazzard's going to be the savior.
Aaron Rogers doesn't think they're going to be the savior.
So unless OBJ walks through that door
and they can convince him,
Asta la vista.
You got to think this team has some plan, right?
I mean, you just have a division foe and the Vikings pick up Hockinson.
It's doable.
You can trade your future draft picks for current assets.
They just don't seem to want to.
I mean, there's reports that the Rams offered up two first for Brian Burns.
I mean, there's teams just burning picks.
Aaron Rogers is getting no younger.
This team has a good defense.
You know, they could make some noise if you give Aaron a weapon or two,
but I guess they don't think they need that.
And I'm with you, Rich.
Asta la Vista to the Packers.
I hate to do it to you, Richard,
but we got to go there.
The NFC South.
Tom Brady.
I know you love Tom.
And they have a fighting chance
anytime Tom straps on the pads,
but be realistic for me here, Rich.
Tampa Bay.
Metro.
Yes, they can do it.
Metro.
I mean, they're in a lot of,
South. That's the only reason they can do it, Mitchell.
That's the only reason it's not 100%
Asta la Vista, but
defensively they're playing well. They're getting a lot
of sacks still. They're fifth and passing,
six in scoring defense. Tom Brady
ain't missed the playoffs in 20 years,
so you got to expect, this
is not going to be the first, but it's going to be tough.
But they're last in rushing.
They have to find a way to rush to run the
ball. And you hope that Ryan Jensen
comes back and that can
freaking change things on that offensive line whenever
they're saying December maybe, which
would be really cool or cool comeback story. I don't know. If they were in any of the other
divisions in the NFC, then it'd be a no. But they have a chance because right now it's being
led by Atlanta Falcons and could have been the Carolina Panthers had somebody not taking their
head helmet off or kicker did his job. So, so yeah, I think they, you know, I think they got a chance.
It's miraculous that the one time in his career, Tom Brady has a terrible, you know, team season,
if you will. He's still got a chance
because he's in a shit division.
So that is Tom's luck.
Luck of a draw, baby.
Yes, sir, yes, sir.

What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jette.

Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what we're.
down and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack,
so I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now, so.
Then you're finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people who,
Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

All right.
We kind of covered it on the last podcast.
I asked you where what's the future of the Rams look like this season.
You said they're going to be at home.
But does that hold true now?
Is it, does it, do they have some life to them or is it?
Mitchell, I don't know.
I mean, they're trying to get some life by trading two firsts for Brian Burns,
but I'm like, what first do they have?
Like, they're going to be sitting there.
My son's going to be in the league next time they draft first.
Like, my goodness, but their fifth in total defense,
they got a lot of talent on that side of the football,
fourth and third down offense, but 31st in rushing,
30th in total offense, fewest points per game in the NFC.
Like, it's bad, Mitchell.
It's bad.
offensively. And not to jump on a Stafford Titanic, but my goodness, like, I tried to tell you.
Like, it's just not built that way. And the reason he's struggling is because that offensive
line, it's really bad. It's like what they call a dumpster fire of sorts, Mitchell, a dumpster fire.
And it's getting worse. Like, the good guy, like they're giving up on guys. So you would think,
hey, they're going to trade for an offensive lineman. Like, they're going to trade a first round or two
to get them some offense alignment,
but you're working on defense,
and you can't score points.
That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me either.
I mean, I don't quite understand it, Rich.
I mean, they have glaring, glaring holes,
and they don't seem to be wanting to address them.
They want to make their position of strength stronger.
And at some point in time, these draft picks, I get it.
You guys won a Super Bowl and hats off to the L.A. Rams for that.
I mean, certainly teams would give up.
up, you know, three years of picks just to have a shot at being in the Super Bowl. But at some point in time,
this is going to catch up to him. And it probably has already caught up to him with this lack of
depth on the offensive line. Yeah, that's what it looks like. Andrew Woodworth, not being there,
it's glaring. I'm sure they call him every week and offer him a little bit more money. And his wife tells
him no, every week. But whatever. Well, Amazon's got deep pockets too.
Basos.
Yeah. Yeah. So, Rich, it's that.
that time of the week. Everyone's got to know. What is Richard Sherman's power rankings top five
for culmination of week eight? You put so much stress on me, Mitchell, you put so much stress.
This one's going to be tough. It's not. My top three has yet to change, Mitchell. It's still the
Eagles, Buffalo, Kansas City, Minnesota, Kerkle! Curco! And the Dallas Cowboys,
if Pollards, they're starting back. If he's not, then I got to switch my fifth.
Richard, you sent me a text yesterday.
It was a quote from the owner, Jerry Jones.
And we talked about it.
And I don't want to hammer this point home more because we talked about the last
podcast, and it was in regards to Tony Pollard.
And the text said something along the lines of Zeke Elliott will always be the leadback.
He's a home run hitter just like Tony Pollard, and he's always going to be in position
1A.
And there's no second guessing it from the Cowboys organization.
I don't get it, Rich.
I understand Dallas is a hot team right now
and you don't want to ruffle the feathers of any teammates on your team.
But come on, man.
Like, give it to my boy, Tony, for the love of God.
Mitchell, Mitchell, Mitchell.
And I love Zeeke.
I'm a good friends with Zig.
Zeeks, a good human being.
He's good football player.
But if I'm on that team and I'm watching a guy average 10 yards to carry
in the only game he starts and is being dynamic in every facet of the game,
the run game, the past game.
and it's just a walking explosive play,
I'm going to probably have some questions about
we're making that call based on,
like, Zika's a good player,
and he deserves the ball,
and deserves to tote it.
But this guy probably deserves just a, you know what I mean,
just a dad, a few more.
He deserves it in every aspect of the game,
and he showed that, and when he's not on the field,
they're less of a threat offensively.
When Pollard's not on the field,
teams are happy to go head-to-head with Zeke.
and play the physical game as much as you want to.
But he creates an element that they do not have without him on the field.
No question.
You got a big Thursday night game.
I know you're going down to Houston.
At least you get to see a hot team in Philly.
I don't know if it's going to be much of a game,
but what are you looking forward to this Thursday night, Philly at Houston?
Mitchell, the way this season has been, it'll be a barren burner,
and the Texans will walk away with it,
and Davis Mills will be getting interviewed after the game
because this is the NFL this year.
Philly, I mean, like I said earlier, I said throughout the season, they have a great
offensive line, great defensive line, great secondary, athletic and fast linebackers who really,
I mean, how is Nicoby Dean not playing?
But Cazir White is freaking un, he can't be beat out, apparently.
Offensively, all day, always open A.J. Brown.
Like, he seems like an inevitability at this point.
Like, hey, he's out there.
He's getting the ball.
He's not getting stopped.
and you got Devante Smith.
You got other guys.
You got Goddard and guys that could get open and catch the ball.
But all day, always open, A.J. Brown is the MVP of that team right now.
And I'm sure how are we sitting there like, did it again?
Of course I did.
He sure did.
This team looks that.
They definitely deserve to be ranked atop your power ranks, Rich.
I don't question you on that.
We appreciate you guys.
all joining in as always.
Richard, I'll let you sign us off.
Appreciate you guys for joining us.
And hit that sub button.
