This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

On the Look Back at it podcast.
For 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Welcome back to the Richard Sherman podcast.
We got one of my favorite guests
on Big Play Slay.
You're in the Super Bowl.
I was media day.
Man, media day was long.
You go ahead.
Boy, you should have been wondering about these questions they'd be asked.
They haven't anything they'll ask.
They get reckless, boy.
They get reckless.
I'm talking about going from high school and everything.
They did their research, sure.
No question.
They asked the weirdest questions, the dumbest questions.
Then they're going to actually guarantee the game and all this nonsense.
Yeah, they're trying to get the beef started out.
They're going to try to get some smoke going.
They try to get some smoke going.
I was trying to tell Bradbury about it.
I was like, hey, it's going to be different.
than what you expect.
Like, it's going to be a lot of theatrics.
Yeah, it was.
It was.
I'm not going to lie, but it was a good experience, though, man.
Let's see all the lights on you.
Right, right, right, right.
I'm about to say, I know you liked it, though.
You know what I'm saying?
I enjoyed it, though.
You know, I have fun with it a little bit.
So how are you enjoying the whole process?
You know, I mean, it's two weeks.
It's different.
It takes you kind of out of your routine a little bit.
Right.
But, you know, it's something you've been looking forward to your whole life.
So you got to, you know, there's some parts to enjoy,
some parts to be like, I'm going to work.
Yeah, so it's been crazy, man.
You know, when I first got here, man, you know, came here Sunday.
It's been a long week, man, from definitely just understanding, like,
because, you know, at first you kind of already get the game plan the first week.
Right.
So I'm like, so now my thought is, like, how the second week will go,
because I'm used to that one week and playing.
Right.
You know, so I'm trying to just figure out like, okay,
what else coach can put in here right now?
You know, I'm usually taking three days, but now we've got a whole six days of practice
and good prep.
So, man, I'm looking forward to it.
But overall, been a good week, solid week.
But, man, I got to make sure I take care of my body, man.
I had a double-level massage just come off that long behind, like five hours.
It's a different type of environment for me, man.
There's no one.
But Fletcher's them kind of prepared us for moments like this because, you know, he's been
there and I got one.
So I already kind of had my, you know, my mind made up.
Definitely about them tickets.
Yeah.
Family call me about them tickets.
Oh, man.
Come on now.
Hey, I'm glad I got a, I'm glad my wife came in handy.
Right, right.
Hey, you got a glean on her, boy.
Yeah, I'll lean on her.
right now because, you know, she kind of had the hard job.
And I told her she could say no to anybody.
She wanted to say no to right at this moment.
I'm locked there.
I'm locked there.
Yeah, the Arizona one, we went out there.
Where they got your practicing?
You're at the up.
We got the Cardinals.
So we had the practice facility.
So, you know, shout out to the Cardinals for letting us join up.
Right, right, right.
So we're divisional.
So they wouldn't let us have their practice facility.
But when we played there, we had to play at Arizona State.
Something else like that.
That is true.
That is true.
The NFL playoffs are here.

But how you feel, you know, your defense's been kind of under the radar.
Y'all been bawling, but you're still under the radar the whole season.
You know, y'all got 10 plus sacks from 4D linemen.
you are pro bowler, Bradbury, all pro.
But you got to feel good about your chances.
You got to feel good about, you know, how you're all playing.
The offense has been getting a lot of credit, but you're all been killing.
Yeah, man, you know, but I don't understand why we know we're not talked about as one of the best
defense in the league.
You know, we lead in a lot of things statistically.
You know, we did no one pass defense, you know, the number one's in sacks.
So I don't know how people overlooks that, you know.
So that's what's mind-blowing.
Then, you know, we got all type of pro bowl players that should have made pro-toe because
Hartway should have been in.
there, you know, sweaty.
You know, like I said, with them guys having 10 sacks plus, you know, that's tough, you
know, and the secondary, though, we love it because, I mean, that means we got a lot of guys
getting a lot of 101 and that ball coming out, you know, so, man, yeah, our defense has been
going crazy, man, every playing guys playing lights out, you know, Kazir, at linebacker,
you know, T.J, you know, those guys don't get talked about a lot, but they're the mostly
commander of our defense, you know, get us in calls, get us in the good checks, you know.
So, yeah, man, we were playing crazy, man.
You know, Chansy coming back, healthy, you know, Marcus Epps.
So we were just playing out a high level, man.
We were all playing together, man.
That's what I told them, man.
Nobody's bigger than the defense, and that's what we kind of put out on film.
Yeah, that's why.
That's why they win championship.
You'll see why on Sunday.
Yeah.
They get hot.
They show up.
It can be over quick.
You can't be off a quick.
Right, right.
So how are you feeling about, you know, obviously, they different without Mahones.
You played Mahones last year week four, you know, but without.
Cheetah. We talked about this before.
It's different. But, I mean, they've been
effective. They've been still finding a way to get Kelsey
the ball. I don't know how they let that boy
get Kelsey the ball when he was hurt a couple weeks ago.
That's the whole story for a different day.
But what's
your plan against him? I mean, y'all got
all the people to do it. Yeah, we've got
a great secondary to, you know, to try to contain him as best
way we can. But, yeah, like,
you know, Trump's going to go down is one of the greatest tightness
to ever do this. So, of course, you got to
find a way to eliminate him from the game.
You know, you got Patrick Mahones will go to be one
arguably one of the greatest quarterbacks to do this too as well.
So you got to find a way to eliminate them guys getting the ball to the guys.
So, man, Travis, you know, he just smooth.
He found little holes in zone.
So we just got to be locked in, you know.
And then with Patty, be able to stand plays and they just got the connection to, like, play off each other.
So, you know, my first thing about telling the defense, maybe we got to be odd discipline.
We don't know when the play will ever end.
You know, the guy would be run around for 10 minutes and them guys seem out.
They don't get tired out of that scrimand drill.
We got to find a way to make sure we got our eyes focused, man.
Our game plan is basically just, man, stay eyes locked in,
make sure you got your eyes on your man and stay focused.
Well, last time you came on here, Big Play,
you left with two picks that game.
So I'm not saying we, you know what I mean,
we expecting certain things, but it would be a nice little, you know what I mean?
Come on now, you know, at the biggest game in my life with two of them things.
Come on, now off one of the greatest, come on, it's going to go crazy.
I'm going to end up with a trophy case.
Come on.
They got to.
They got to.
Look, they got us to.
Look, you, you ain't, before this, you were Slade.
You was talking about playoff game.
You was happy with a playoff game.
Now you're in the bowl.
Come, man, I'm telling you.
I've told myself today, I was talking to the homies at the crib.
I said, man, this is my first time, yeah, captain, first time getting past the first round.
And it's my first time being in a Super Bowl.
So this seal of my chest must be some good luck right now.
Come on now.
Come on now, Slate.
You know what I was saying?
You know what I'm over.
I'm like, man, I might, hey, this seed kind of good luck, man.
You know what I'm saying?
So I'm loving it, you know what I'm saying?
So my first time experienced a lot of things, man, it happened in all that one year.
So, man, I'm just thankful.
You know, I've been blessed, man.
I'm like, man, I'm really here, man.
Took me 10 years, you know what I'm saying?
So you was there at year, what, three?
Yep, year three.
You know what I'm saying?
Three, then you came from three to four, then you came back like, what?
Nine.
Nine, yeah.
Yeah, so it's like, man, it's hard to come by.
They're hard to come by.
And it's my first one in 10.
Right, right, bro.
Yeah, it's tough.
It's going to be your last one, though, so look.
No, no, you know what I'm going to go.
I'm going to go.
Right.
I'm going to go.
Hey, speaking of the first, this is your first year with your podcast.
How you enjoying that?
Man, I'm enjoying the podcast, man.
I'm learning.
You know, I'm saying, of course I had to watch you.
You know, watch how you do it, man.
So, man, I've been doing good on that thing.
But I love the podcast day.
So I know what I'm done, I got something I'm going to fall back on for sure
because I'm going to be heavy in the podcast situation.
No question, no question.
So you got the wife out there.
I know the kids out there.
Your babies get to see you in the Super Bowl.
Well, your baby, your baby's dangling grown.
My baby, grow.
That would be a whole teenager, man.
You don't know.
I was too early.
Right, right.
And I didn't miss.
Oh, but, you don't miss.
I don't miss.
I don't miss.
But he gets to see you playing a Super Bowl.
I mean, I'll tell you this thing.
You know, you know, knock on wood, knock on the wall, whatever.
Come on, yeah.
Get your babies out there on the field.
You're never, you're never.
You'll never regret it, slight.
Come on, man.
I'm already, mine already locked in for that.
I told me, just like me getting married all over again.
Make sure your old lady there and the kids.
Everybody.
Come on, man.
We up.
We're going to be, talking about a confetti falling air well.
And I'm snow-angling up, everything.
Come on, now.
I love it.
I love it.
You in Arizona, you'll find somewhere to go to have you a good time that night with your
boys.
I'm sure your team might have a way to celebrate the same thing,
first time in the Super Bowl.
But you've got a tough opponent.
What makes a stay offense outside of Patty,
home so special.
The ability to just like extend plays and understanding like what they need to be at.
They're a great team now.
You can see the green.
It's a team effort now with them.
You know, of course they had guys that can do one play and just change the whole game,
you know, with Cheetah.
But right now they've been a real, real true offense.
You know, Patty did show the fact that, hey, I could be an officer guy without big plays
and a guy that could be a system guy, you know what I'm saying?
Not saying he a system guy because it's just that he could play within the system and got
guys that, you know, making big plays for him, you know, so, you know, got Valdasca, take the top
off, you know, got, you know, juju, got it can great after their catch, you know, so he's making
things that everybody said he thought he wouldn't go do it and he's doing it. So, don't know how you
make a lot of plays, you got to get done. Football fans, Fanduel is the perfect way for everyone

Y'all got that thing on y'all too now.
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
It ain't sweet, now.
You know what I'm saying?
You know, it ain't sweet because we got guys.
You know what I'm saying?
We got guys on both sides of the ball, you know,
especially in us.
on that defense side, man, because like I said,
I'm still don't understand how what's going on here with the son Red.
Like, I don't know how he's not in the defensive conversation.
You know what I'm saying?
The guy is going crazy.
I understand that we got another guy for a sack, you know,
I'm over 10 sacks.
But what he's putting on there is crazy.
Like, nobody's not blocking that man.
And still, on the playoffs, he's keeping it up.
But on your offensive side, y'all running that rock.
And, you know, and I'd be saying, oh, Hurts ain't throwing the ball.
Why we throw the ball?
Right.
Why I throw the ball?
Why I throw it?
You know what I'm saying?
That's the question I need to ask.
Y'all, for I tell you the Super Bowl with y'all, why I throw the ball?
We should have to watch a guy.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, Sla, that's another.
Hey, come on now, listen to me.
You know what I'm saying?
Why throw the ball?
You know what I'm not for to throw that?
No.
But they hand that thing, we'll move, smooth, I've got the best old line in league.
But one thing I will say is this is the first time, I mean, they go way back.
They got four rookies in the secondary.
playing, which is kind of cold.
You know what I mean?
They got two rookie corners, two rookie
safety's playing a lot.
That's big.
Yeah, that's big.
And they got to deal with all day.
Always open.
Hey, Jay Brown.
Come on now.
Slow Batman is nothing to play with.
Him or Skinny Batman or Fast Backman.
Don't boy are going.
And people be asleep.
I got Dallas Gallo
the second to third best tight end in this league right now.
And if he wasn't hurt,
he would have made Pro Bowl and All-Pro this year
because he was going crazy as well.
Like, they got a lot to deal with, man.
And them guys ready to go for show.
And then y'all got, like, three backs that are, that can tote it.
Come on, man.
It don't matter who in there.
Now, Hurston took some steps this year.
You know, he was in the MVP conversation for a long time.
Then he got banged up.
And then it was kind of Mahones to lose.
But how has he grown this year, you know, throughout the season?
Man, I've been telling everybody since OTAs.
Like, the progress, like, he put between his first year as a starter and his second year to
start and his second year of started is completely changed.
You know, he approached the field different.
Like I said, he asked questions about coverage that we beat him in, man.
Everything, and he's taking accountability for everything he do.
And the man don't need it often.
He's working.
Like, you know, he want to be one of the best to ever do it, you know.
So my goal is always trying to help him get there.
But, man, to see him just progress so much in that in a short amount of time is wild, man.
But like I said, I'm not surprised because he put the work in.
You know, he put the work in.
When you see the work and you see how he's done, you can see that he's locked in,
laser-focused.
I don't know how he do it, man, you know, because he takes a lot of credit.
You know what I'm saying?
People don't want to give him the credit that he deserved, but he, he go out there each
and every week.
I'm a guy that probably would have said something by now.
But, you know, he keeps his home on it.
You know what I'm saying?
He keeps his humble and it's cool and stay lazy to focus on him, man.
I'm proud of him, man.
He's a true leader.
He's a great dude, man, even better person off the field.
So, man, I'm only happy for him.
I'm happy for him, too.
That's big time.
But Lane Johnson is also a big deal for y'all.
And, you know, him coming back for the injury kind of still, it's still crazy to me.
But he out there doing it.
Doing it.
I'm talking about it.
And he was going against one of the best, you know what I'm saying?
They're all going to be the guy that's going to win this because of player to year, you know, and holding up with the growing.
That's tough, man.
He had a tough dude, man.
So a shout out to my drop mate.
You know, that's my drop class.
He got a baller, man.
He's very talented, man.
He won a freaking nature.
Out there, he was fast, athletic and get it done, man.
So, man, I'm still shot and he did it, you know what I'm saying?
I thought I go chalk it up, you know what I'm saying?
Because it was bad, but he's like, nah, man, this is this.
This is how I feel he understands the situation we're in.
And he's a big part of this offense, man, and we're protecting Hertz.
Well, we're going to talk about Travis Kelsey's brother, Jason, who don't never get credit.
My classmate, he don't ever get credit.
That boy walking gold jacket and nobody even talking about it.
And that's why I don't understand.
So what I call Kelsey to go.
You know, I told him he to go, he's going down as arguably the greatest eagle of ever.
You know, I got Brian Doggers up there, two-ers-win-or-they-one-B,
but it's nothing better than that.
I mean, I never seen the city love somebody so much.
He does so much for the city, and he come out and perform every Sunday.
He's not the biggest center ever, you know, but he is the fast.
I'm going to say he's the fast center because Jesus, he's fast.
But he gets the job done, man, he's not a big guy.
He just, man, you got to see him.
I know y'all saw what he did to one dude against the Giants, one arm in him,
throwing him out in the way.
You know what I'm saying?
He's magnificent.
I'll be watching him and practice.
He stretched to the screens.
He hauled it like, man, he's got truly believed that.
When he practiced, he preach, and he goes out there and do it and execute on the high level.
Goat status.
No question.
No question.
I'll agree with you.
I think our class will have 10 gold jackets before it's all done.
Easily.
Y'all class coming out.
Y'all stack for sure.
My question, what has surprised you about this week that you wasn't expecting about the Super Bowl week?
Is it just the media day?
Is it the weird?
Is the practice schedule?
Is the hotel?
Ooh, what surprised me really honestly is that all this damn security.
You know what I said security like one level.
We got like four levels to go through.
I'm talking about we got to, oh, got to check your passes.
Next thing you know you come in, got the dog smelling your cars.
And that's what you got to come in.
If you can't get in, you got to walk up too because they're not letting the Uber through.
I'm like, dang, now I got to take a walk, dang there, you know, half a mile.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, dang, y'all working my legs out.
I'm not going to stay home.
You know what I'm saying?
So that's the surprise of part.
I knew it was going to be security,
but this is tight, tight security.
Like, I'm talking about,
I'm talking about they got metal detectors and all.
They ain't letting nothing happen, do you?
It's like, y'all got to get your game.
I love it.
I love it.
But I'm just surprised.
You know what?
I'm like, yeah, man.
But so I told my family, you know what?
Y'all get an Airbnb.
Y'all not going to come here because you're going to take y'all 20 minutes
to get in this building.
Right, right, right, right.
So I'm going to just leave the building at home.
Right, right, right.
So how do they do it with the families?
Did they fly them out?
Because they did it.
The times we went,
they always had like a plane for the family.
Yeah, they did.
They did have a plane for a family.
But my family,
though,
they all in Houston.
So my wife,
they like to do all the little traveling.
So they got an Airbnb,
my mom and all them coming up with the kids.
They just, you know,
ventures seeing, sightseeing,
and stuff like that.
So they did that.
So they ain't my family,
hop on a flight because, you know,
my family in Houston.
But, yeah, they're here, though.
They're here.
I love it.
I can't wait.
I can't wait until you get your shot to shine.
Know it's going to be fun.
I mean, at the end of the day, once all the flashes go off, it's going to be football,
and you ready for us, like?
Come on, man.
I'm always ready for the moment.
What else you got to say to the world before you go out there and put on the show?
Man, sure.
You know what time it is, man.
We're coming in and locked in and load it.
And, of course, you know what time.
I'm coming out there to try to make all the big plays.
I love it.
I love it.
Go out there and put on the show for him, big play.
Yes, sir.
Good luck, baby.
The volume.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guide.
Not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only.
only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

On the Look Back at a podcast.
From 1979, that was a big moment for me.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
This is an IHeart podcast.
Guaranteed human
