Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:00:42 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back at it podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:06 For 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
Starting point is 00:01:22 84 was a wild year. It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's the Richard Sherman podcast presented by Fanduel. Starting point is 00:02:25 We got Quinn and Williams of the New York Jets. Eight sacks this year. You're bowling. I'm trying, man. Thank you for having. man, it's just an honor being on this show, man. Great guy like yourself, man. I hear so much about you through Coachaula and just a lot of fame.
Starting point is 00:02:40 I know when Kosala try to coach a Psalter's Gardner, like, he shows a lot of Seattle, Seattle Richard Sherman, bro, tackling skis. It's unbelievable, cover skis. Just the honor to be on this show with you, bro. Man, I appreciate that, man. I've been watching all this year. I've been cheering for y'all every week. I'm a Jets fan right now.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Get me a jersey. Get me in the stands. I'll be trying to, I'll be so grateful when y'all win, man. It's so good to see. Salah's such a good human being. Brick's a good human being. Rick, y'all got a great coaching staff. It's cool.
Starting point is 00:03:11 You know, you've been there four years. You've seen the ups. You've seen the downs. What's been so different this year? I haven't really had too many ups, man. These past list is this year, bros. But, man, it's unbelievable. The culture itself from top down, man.
Starting point is 00:03:25 It's just having a winning mindset, winning culture. And just a staff, like you just named a few guys, like Brick, and Coach Salah and Ricky and all the coach of staff, they got a winning mindset, man. I feel like the biggest thing that you can have when you carry in the team is your leaders, your generals, your sergeants. If those guys ready to go to war, man, everybody going to be ready to go to war. So we got unbelievable coaching style, unbelievable guys they brought in, like the draft picks
Starting point is 00:03:51 and just the different free agent guys they brought in. Just everybody have a winning mindset and want to see each other to succeed. And I think that's the biggest thing from the past year to this year is just really different. And it's different what you bringing. You know, you out there, you're out there performing. Oh, you ain't. Don't try to dare play what you doing. You're out there killing.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Yeah, I'm doing my thing, man. But I feel like I'm just doing my job at the end of the day. And we got some unbelievable guys who give me the opportunity to get sex and the other stuff at the deepest line to get sex. Like DJ Reed, Salis Gardner and CJ Moeller, all these guys, like without those guys, like, it's no, no type of, even no type of nothing can happen. because the quarterback is playing 707 out there, bro, where you got guys they covering on the outside like they cover.
Starting point is 00:04:37 It let us feast up front. So thank you for them guys, for real. Hey, that's leadership right there. That's what people don't understand. Leadership is appreciation. It's appreciation to everybody. Everybody got a job to do, and I'm grateful to let you all doing it so it can help me do my job.
Starting point is 00:04:50 They can help me do it. Yeah, exactly. And early in the season, you know, they tried to make a big, big, big, you know, blow up about what you said. And, you know, you wanted to rush for it. And that's the way I didn't get in talking. football since I've been in the league. Hey, rush, y'all rush four,
Starting point is 00:05:05 we're going to cover in the back end. If y'all can't get there with fault, we ascend more, but it's going to be tougher on everybody. Exactly. And, yeah, like you said, I should have had a totally different way, especially, but I was, like, I've been losing a lot, and just a lot of frustration came out of me,
Starting point is 00:05:22 especially knowing the guys that we have in our room and just working with these guys and the guys passionate about, past rush, the passionate about dominating football games. And also, man, I believe in those guys. And it was one of those things I wanted to challenge, like, the coach and stuff.
Starting point is 00:05:38 I just challenged the defense of line coaching. Like, put it on us. Let us mess it up. You know what I'm saying? That's the biggest thing. Because CoSalle has a resume saying, like, I can rush for it. In 2019 San Frang team was like, I can rush for and win it for. And I feel like we had that same type of caliber guys in our defense-in-line room
Starting point is 00:05:56 and wanted to utilize us more in that same exact way. And we've been doing it lately, man. It's been a fun game, fun opportunity. The whole defense has been having fun. And Cosale, especially, been having fun. We make big plays, back, and different things like that, man. So we just got to be consistent and keep it rolling, I feel like so. It's a whole different experience for what the league is when you're winning.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Ain't it? Way different. Way different. I'm used to. Hey, well, you look good on you. You know, in college, obviously, you had a lot of success. You know, your boys had, you're one of the first. had y'all won the natty you know you were killing you got drafted high you was the
Starting point is 00:06:33 afc player the month for october so let's not act like you know you use some spring chicken out here this is you getting it done um at a high level but tell me about tell me about the culture you know you talked about a little bit earlier and how that's changed you know there's leadership there's c j mosley been there you know with y all grinding you know but you got guys like kwan alexander came in you got guys like dj reeds come in veteran guys j whitehead has come in and how have those guys made an impact? They make a tremendous impact, man. Just the guys that they brought in who's really used to winning
Starting point is 00:07:06 because if you want to be honest, I was used to lose in the NFL, just playing with just. But we brought in so many guys who was used to winning at a high level in this NFL, even like Joe Flacco, was an amazing guy that we got on our team in general, not just the offense, but the defense side, who just bring experience on what he see, what he don't see. And like you said, like Korn Alexander,
Starting point is 00:07:24 a guy who's used to winning, who used to doing the right things, the right way and off the field and on the field. And just, like a lot of guys you just said, there's guys who come in who used to winning and used to doing the right things in the right way that can spread throughout the whole entire organization and spread throughout the whole team. And also the coaches staff of theirself, man.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Like a lot of people just think it's the players, players, but the coach staffed themselves, man, these coaches are unbelievable, especially the way Brick played 10 years in the NFL. So he's one of those open-minded coaches who willing to listen to the players and willing to adjust different things for the players and their experience.
Starting point is 00:07:59 So this coach staff that we have is unbelievable when it come down to putting the players in the position to win to do what they love to do. And also calls that help these players and help us in general use our best ability to the right way. It's a reason why certain teams win so much, why certain players win so much,
Starting point is 00:08:17 because it's about the things that you're talking about. It's about preparing the right way. It's about trusting your teammates. It's about respecting your teammates and having an appreciation for like, Hey, they make a big play. It's not about me, me, me, me, me. Sure, I'm going to play well.
Starting point is 00:08:31 I'm going to do my thing. But I'm going to be just as happy when my teammates make a play. Because it's us together. It's a unit. And I think, like you said, you've lost for it. You can see the difference when you win in. It just, it just treat everybody treats each other different. Like, everybody talks to each other different, even when you got some adversity going.
Starting point is 00:08:49 And definitely, like, winning, winning means a lot. That's all we do is sport. But it's all we're all competitors. If you don't, if you play football, just to play football, like just to be out there. It's like, why are you out there? Like everybody who's a competitive, everybody, even in business where you want to win,
Starting point is 00:09:04 no matter what, man, they're just an aura of the things. So when you lose and nothing's going to lose it. So having guys that want to win and go out there to do the things for you to win. Self, I mean, personally and win as a team is a great thing to have. A rise in tide lifts all ships.
Starting point is 00:09:21 When you win, everybody eats. Everybody going to eat. Everybody going to get their money. Everybody going to get their awards. It looks good. It feels. good. Your family talked to you different. Everybody want to come to the games now.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Yeah. How are you feeling about the quarterback situation? Obviously, you know, some things have changed. Mike White came in there and played a good game, but it had to be a bit of a shock in the locker room when they came and told y'all they benched Zach. How did the team receive that? We have an amazing team, amazing coach staff in general, man. One of those things like stuff happens in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:09:49 This is a professional lead, man. Things that out of my control, especially that being on the office side. But all I can do is, man, be, do my job first and foremost, and just support both on them because they both on my team. They both, a brother of mine, I want to see both of them succeed no matter who's in and who's out. And I just want to see the office succeed in general. So from a personal aspect, I can only see, I can only do what I can control and only support both on each and every way. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win.
Starting point is 00:10:47 I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
Starting point is 00:11:14 One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment, and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast. It's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So, if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Listen to The Clifford Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:11:40 or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with a little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
Starting point is 00:12:01 I'm Sam Jay. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
Starting point is 00:12:26 We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you finishing that sentence. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So you've been in the league four years.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Who's the toughest quarterback to sack so far? The toughest one to sack? Well, you didn't just came free, and you're just like, bro, if you don't just sit still so I can get you on the ground? It's funny because I was thinking a lot about Justin Fields when we had to play Chicago last week. So I'm like, oh, man, I'm watching the film and stuff like. I'm like, oh, man, he's going to be hard to get down. But the toughest one I had to think, you would think I played Lamar twice. I played Kyle Murray in college.
Starting point is 00:13:17 But Josh Allen is so hard to tackle just because he's so physical. And I played him a lot, playing for the Jets and playing. he's playing in Buffalo. I played him light and he's physical. Like, he'll see you running at him. He'll be like, okay, bet. Like, I'm trying to run him over and then throw the ball. Like, so he's one of those things.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Like, he's a huge physical man. And he's probably one of the hardest guys to say. So I agree. I mean, we caught him running one time and he lowered his shoulder pass. And I said, oh, it's a quarterback? Like, you think you might to lower your paths? Like, get going. Bye!
Starting point is 00:13:46 I said, I woke up, you know, you see the little blinks. And you're like, hey, wait a minute now. Hey, come on. What are we doing? But y'all got two. goddamn Bama quarterback's in your division. That's kind of crazy. Yeah, that is.
Starting point is 00:13:58 That is funny, man. It's just to see these guys succeed. I've seen both of these guys grow. And I know they've seen me grow tremendous from college and different things like that. So you see a lot of Bama guys in the NFL, especially the two quarterbacks we got. I got a very good personal relationship with both of them and just half of them with both of them. It got to be cool. That's what I was about to say.
Starting point is 00:14:18 It got to be cool going to college and then coming in the league and having success. And then seeing your guys that you just battle with, you got to go. against them, but you're happy to see their success. Like, do y'all keep in contact, or everybody kind of go their separate ways? Most of a lot of badm players that I've played with, we all keep in contact, man. It feels from, like, especially like from a walk-on
Starting point is 00:14:36 to a scholarship player, different things. Like, every guy who makes the NFL, every guy in general that you do those hard four quarters, the hard workouts at college, it builds a bond, like, and winning, and winning that from the championship, build a bond like no other. So we definitely keep in contact.
Starting point is 00:14:52 That's pretty cool. You're playing with your brother now. That got to be pretty cool. Like, I always wanted to play with my brother. I thought it would happen one day. Obviously, not in the league. But to play in the league with your brother, that's cool. Yeah, it is for no man.
Starting point is 00:15:06 People be like, I mean, how is it? It's a headache at sometimes because it's like one of those things like, we get into it, but it's like, it's like a brother get into it. It's not like a regular player getting into it. It's like, make that tackle. I knew you better than that. I got you. You like, well, if you got me, make it tap.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Like those things, like, you can talk to each other in a whole different aspect of you can talk to. But like I always tell people, man, like, we all brothers in that locker room and we try to make that chemistry and get that same feeling like me and my brother, we know each other like the back of our hand because we grew up with each other. And we just try to get that same personal feeling with each and every person on their defense to make us a close to a neat group so we can all have that same conversation, I'm saying disagreements and get on page and hold each other to the same accountable like I can with my real brother. So, yeah, that's honestly how we were in Seattle at our best, you know, Cam Chancellor, and I would tell him, like, I'm doing a little podcast of Richard Sherman today. He was like, ask him about Cam how Cam was. Bro, that's like my brother.
Starting point is 00:16:06 I still talk to him today. I'm about to probably go lunch with him today. We had love and respect like we were real brothers. Like, it was so, it was such a deep love and a deep respect and a deep regard and a deep care for one another that even when you're on the field, stuff going bad. It's like you're out there with your brother and stuff bad. bro. We got to come out of this one now.
Starting point is 00:16:25 We got to pull it out. Or when they're struggling, when a bad play happens, it ain't like you come up to him like, bro, you suck. It's like, brother, I know you better than that. Let's get up off the ground. We're going to handle it. Like, hey, come on. They got to deal with us again.
Starting point is 00:16:37 It's a different, it gives you a different kind of confidence out there when you playing with people like that and you know they got your back. You know, they know your family. They know your kids. They know your wife. They know you, like, they know what you've been through. You know, they come to your camps all the time. So when you try to be.
Starting point is 00:16:52 build that kind of culture. It takes a little bit of work because when the guys have a little charity event, or they're having something, are they kids having a birthday party? You show up, you know, just like you will with your brother. Your brother kids having a birthday party. Your nephew having a party, you're going to beat it. And so Cam is an amazing human being. Like, they're not a much more violent human being on the football field that I've ever met somebody who just wants to do harm. That boy was destructive out there. But off the field is a, is an amazing, a gentleman, Wheatard, a good friend, a good brother, a good dad, man. It's one of the best people I'd know.
Starting point is 00:17:28 You went from Tuscaloosa to New York City. That got to be one of the most drastic changes ever. It was really different. But at the same time, I'm a guy, I'm not that real. I'm not too fond of, like, the city life and all that, like, party and stuff. And, like, doing all that different stuff like that. So it was really easy for me, man. It was really strictly.
Starting point is 00:17:51 And then I came from a program like, Alabama was really strict on like discipline and commitment and different things like that. So I just learned so much at Bamma. So when I got to the NFL, it was like, okay, I had success at Alabama with this. So I'm going to just transfer all this over to the NFL. And I'm going to keep the same schedule, the same, same routine, the same tradition, the same everything. And hopefully I have success with that blueprint NFL. So I just been doing that on the same thing, man, since college.
Starting point is 00:18:18 So, yeah, I really had to have no drastic change of being in the city. But it is different. Just going to the city and being, like, having the resources to go to any steakhouse you want to, any shopping you want to, and different stuff like that is super dope. That is super dope. How about the comparison between Sabin and Sala? You know, obviously, they're two different styles of coaching. Finding the move. Man, like, both of them are unbelievable, unbelievable defense-of-mind coaches when they come down to just defense-of-mind and different things like that.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Both of them is, like, want to see you win. each and every day. But Cozal is a real personal, real personal, real personal person. When they come down to want to see you succeed in celebration and different things like that, Coach Saban is he wanted to see you succeed in different things like that. But you can see Coach Sala's like personality each and every day, like walking down the halls. And I'm just asking you different questions, just trying to be like in your personal life, trying to put his help in your shoes and different things like that when it come down to a head coach.
Starting point is 00:19:19 And I just want to see you succeed on a whole new level. other than football or sacks or different things. Like they want to see you as a leader, as a man. He's always that person that wants to see you get better in different fields. Like we always do this thing called JOT is just one thing that he loves doing this. Basically like he gives you something that you can get better at. And when you get better, they come back to him and see find another thing. He'd never run out of things for you.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Like I asked him another day, like coach, like after the biweek, bowie cam across all like coach, I feel like I got my pad left. because I had a big problem with rushing with pad level. That's straight up because I try to learn from Chris Jones all the time. Chris Jones is different. And like, I got to get my pad level down some of the different things like that. He was like, Q, you got your pad level down. Now you can work on attacking the double teams.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Like I have a problem with attacking double teams and just staying strong in double teams and stuff like that because I'd be wanting to make the play so fast that I continue to get out my gap and different stuff like that. And it's like as a coach who really pays attention to all 53 plays. in that aspect to know each and everybody's weakness. And then when they get their weakness of strength, their next weakness is, like, unbelievable as a coach. That is really cool because they deal with a lot. They got a lot on their players.
Starting point is 00:20:35 They still sitting there. For you to know all this stuff about each and every player, that's like, it's unbelievable. That's cool. And that's growth on you, you know what I mean? Because it's hard for people to receive coaching sometimes. You know, some dudes be sitting there like, I got all that answer. Like, oh, man, he don't think I'm that good.
Starting point is 00:20:49 It's like, no, he thinks you're great. He just thinks you can be better than that. too, you know. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
Starting point is 00:21:08 embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:21:28 Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Starting point is 00:24:14 You know, it's about getting better. Every day. It's like picking something to work on every single day and attacking it with enthusiasm and aggression and finding a way to continue to help elevate your team, to elevate yourself, and y'all doing that, man, you're doing that in a big way. And you got this, your mind calls, my cleats is about to come up, and you're working with the American Cancer Society. Tell me about that.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Like, the first thing I wanted to do when I got drafted was become American Cancer Society ambassador. I'm not an ambassador, but just to work with the American Cancer Society and different things like that. And they let me become an ambassador. And I do so much with, like, Brist Cancer come up. mom and passed away from breast cancer. And that's a huge thing of my family and different things like that.
Starting point is 00:24:54 And I wanted to just continue because I've been through that personally twice because my mom had cancer twice. And just wanted to do anything I can do to make research to breast counsel or help breast counsel or bring awareness of breast cancer. And I partnered with the American Cancer Society. And they helped me become an ambassador for breast cancer. And they like basically give me the blueprint to do like so much stuff and give me the opportunity. I'm just so blessed to have this opportunity to reach so many people with,
Starting point is 00:25:19 Breast counseling and different things like that and changed so many people lives who has been affected or has breast cancer and different things like that. So my call my cleats, it was like, I'm going to do American Cancer Side. I did American Cancer Side. I did America Castle last year, but this show I wanted to do something a little different. I can't wait to see the design, but I want to do one whole shoe dedicated to the straight breast cancer and pink and the different things like that. And I got like men wear pink on the side and fight breast cancer with a pink boxing glove and different stuff like that. And then once you, I got an American Cancer Society and the different colors that they stand for because it's not just one cancer. I specialize in one cancer, but bring awareness to all cancers and different things like that.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Yeah, I mean, I feel that. That's a beautiful thing. You know, they need all the help they can get. You know, it's obviously something that's very devastating to a lot of families. And it's awesome that you're using your platform to help as many people as you can. Definitely. And bring awareness. And I also heard you got some merch coming out.
Starting point is 00:26:16 You know, you got some new merch. I got to get me a shirt. extra large I'll be coming to see y'all on the 20 seconds so I'm coming to get my shirt Oh yeah, I'm definitely having it ready for you But yeah, I got a chance to do my own Merchant different stuff like that come over the logo
Starting point is 00:26:31 And me and my wife sat down and just sketch different things out, sketch different ideas out So I got this dope shirt coming out with like New York Iron shirt and it's like me inside of an Iron Man suit Because I'm a huge Iron Man fan And people ask me like Oh, you can compare yourself to somebody like, who would it be?
Starting point is 00:26:49 And I feel like, I think it's Iron Man because, like, I'm so, like, cool and chill outside of my uniform. But, like, when I put that uniform on and put the Iron Man suit on, I guess, it's, like, unstoppable. I got to feel, like, unstoppable. So that's a big shirt that I had came out with
Starting point is 00:27:03 and it's super dope. That is super dope. That is super dope. I can't wait. You talked about Chris Jones a little bit and how you were learning from him and practically good. That's the thing about growing your game.
Starting point is 00:27:13 The better you get, the more little stuff you're going to steal from other people. Just understand that. You hope, if you think you got all the answers and all the moves, they're going to start stopping your Biod, and you ain't going to be able to do nothing. Like, well, I didn't be instill it.
Starting point is 00:27:25 I didn't stole from Charles Woodson, Dion, Revis, Talib, Cremardi, a lot of people, a lot of guys, I mean, I just stole from some practice squad guys. You know, the tech look right. If I feel like to move that they use and the footwork that they use can help me, then baby, I ain't got no pride about it. Like, hey, let me, let me throw that in my bag, brother. I appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:27:46 Like, just continue to evolve. If you got any questions for me, anything you want to talk about? We got time to talk. I've been asking all the questions. I'm going to leave it up to you if you got something. Nah, I ain't got too much question, too many questions, man. I'm just honored to be on this show and just have a conversation with you and just have fun. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:28:06 Y'all got some tough games coming up. Boy, y'all get these ones down. Hey, we're talking about a whole different deal. Yeah, and that's a big thing, man. Like, playing in the NFL, every single body is good. But when you get these games with these good teams and these good Super Bowl caliber team, man, it's a test of time to see what you really have on your team. And I just say it's the biggest thing.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Like, I feel like we got a Super Bowl caliber team. We got a playoff caliber team. And it's just a great opportunity to test and see that me just talking about it, coming to fruition for what I really believe. Well, tell me about what makes, because Saus and Reed, boy, I'll be over here making rap songs about Salson Reed. You know, me. Hey, these boys passing on sauce and read. You might need to put down the weed throwing it on sauce and read.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Like, come on now. We ain't going crazy around here. But tell me what makes them special. Bro, they are unbelievable to me. Just because, like, it's so funny because, like, every time the ball going to air, it's like, if I don't get a second or we don't get a second, it's like, okay, we're going to be good, child. So when the ball going to air, it's like, if he's going to DJ Reed or Saz, it's going to be an incomplete pass.
Starting point is 00:29:13 And then when the incomplete pass happens, it's like, all, bad. Let's settle down. Let's get our pad level low. Let's rush quick and let rush faster and stuff like that. But having those two guys, man, and especially these unbelievable risks, especially Saul. I can speak on Sauce because DJ Reed is definitely a vet, definitely experience, definitely know a lot of stuff. And he played in Seattle, man, with a great head coach, a great deepest head coach, and know different things like that. But Sauce is an unbelievable rookie, but he do stuff that'd be like, oh, my goodness, like, did Cincinnati teach you that?
Starting point is 00:29:43 Like, who taught you that? Like, different stuff like that. But, like, he listens so much, bro. He, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, and he, he, he, and he, and they got, they do some unbelievable stuff. Like, I tell people, I tell them to, especially Jermaine Johnson and Mike Clemens and Saul's, like, you know, my rookie. I struggle. My rookie year. Like, like, I went to a good.
Starting point is 00:30:13 great school, like Alabama and stuff, but I struggled. I had like two sacks, 20 tackles my whole entire rookie years. Like, it just, everything didn't click for me. It's like, for you guys, it is clicking. Like, so you guys keep doing what you're doing and, like, learn more, and the more experience you guys are going, you guys are going to be on Stahood, but I tell sauce that
Starting point is 00:30:29 like, you know, you is unbelievable as a rookie. Like, it is. It is the real deal. Like, but he has a lot of growing, man. He's willing to learn each and every day, and DJ reads, a guy who teaches him different stuff each and every day. And just having that backing, that veteran Back in a veteran, we got Lamarckis, Jordan, who's a veteran guy who's no different stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:30:49 And those guys just pour into sauce and sauce like azure each and every one of them, man, just making them unbelievable group. And I'm sure they appreciate having you. You know, I mean, that helps your growth, you know, have good veterans that can teach you things that you don't know, can give you the knowledge that you don't know can help you learn from the things that they didn't know early on. You know what I mean? Like, you're helping they grow tremendously. And I'm sure they appreciate it. I hope so. They do.
Starting point is 00:31:13 They try to put it on tape for you, you know, trying to get you to your first playoff game. Definitely. Yeah, yeah. Well, I wish you all the luck in the world, man. I'm so grateful to be a part. I see y'all on the 22nd, I think we got your Thursday night game against Jacksonville. I'm going to come on the field and see what you're talking about. All right.
Starting point is 00:31:30 Thank you, bro. Thank you for having you. Anytime, brother. Good thing. All right. I get seen too. The volume. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite.
