Notice, sir.
You don't know this.
Championship.
That should always be the expectation.
All right, man.
That's going on here.
Welcome to the Richard Sherman podcast.
We got one of my favorite guys, Kyle Hughes-Chic.
Juicy.
How you doing, baby?
Big Shirm.
I'm good, brother.
How are you doing?
I'm doing fantastic, man.
You guys are rolling, firing on all cylinders.
I needed that win so that I could go on my other show
and have a good time and y'all gave it to me.
How are you feeling after that game?
Man, I'm feeling great.
It's hard not to.
You know, we're in such a good spot right now.
Five and O seemed to, you know, really be firing on all cylinders.
So, you know, it's hard not to feel good at this moment.
Yeah, I mean, you've got to feel good.
Kyle looks like he's feeling good.
I saw him when we had you guys Thursday night against the Giants.
I told him he didn't look at stress.
He didn't have those big bags under his eyes and looked like he has to
slept in weeks. Then he got that extension. Tell me about how he has been this year as compared to
years in the past. I mean, obviously, you guys have had a ton of success, but he just looks like
he's in a much happier, you know, healthier place. Yeah, definitely. And that, you know, that's not to
say that, you know, everything's been easy and that he's not worried, you know, Kyle's Kyle, and he's
always going to be hard on us. And he expects a lot from us for sure. But he's even said that, you know,
with the team that we have and the culture we've built, the leadership and just the amount of
experience that we have, like, there's just some, like, little things that, like, you don't
have to worry about as much. Like, you know, when, um, when a team starts talking about, you know,
playoffs and seating and that kind of stuff, and it's this early in the year, like, sometimes you can
get a little worried, like, okay, like, do these guys understand, you know, what it takes to get
through an entire NFL season? Like, um, but with this thing, you know, but with this thing, you know,
team, like, we've all been through it. We all understand, like, I don't feel like we're getting
ahead of ourselves too much. We definitely are, like, locked into what's happening right now,
but we're also aware that, you know, what happens now really does affect us down the line when
it comes to seating. And seating is huge when it comes to, you know, trying to get in that dance,
man, that first round by is, is no joke. It's a serious advantage. And that's something we're
trying to get. Yeah, you're trying to get it and you guys are doing everything you can and it's
starting at the quarterback position. Talk about Brock Purdy and how cool it's been to see his growth.
And when did you know he was a guy? Man, Brock Purdy is just, he's been incredible and, you know,
what hasn't been said at this point? This guy is just so consistent, such a competitor, just
truly just a dog out there, man. He's just a gamer. He knows what it takes to win football
games. He just he just knows how to play the position. And I think that's something that's so underrated
is a guy that, you know, is truly, like I always say, the biggest compliment you could ever give
me is to say that like, I'm a football player. And like, Brock Purdy is a football player. He just has
a knacked out there. And he's just done such a good job of leading this offense. He always steps in there
with so much confidence. And it doesn't really seem to matter, you know, what's being said around
him. He just goes out there, proves people wrong each week. But I don't even think that's
really, that's not his goal. Like, he's not going out there like, man, I'm going to show out so
I can shut up all these people who say, you know, I'm not it. Like, he just wants to win and he
just wants to, you know, prove it to his teammates that he's our guy and that he can be counted on.
And throwing touchdowns to juice doesn't, it doesn't hurt anybody. It never hurts, man.
You know, best first NFL touchdown was to your boy, you know.
Come on. Now, he knows where his bread is butter.
He knows. He knows.
Oh, man, that was great to see. He performs well on prime time anytime. Kittle was at the most
touchdowns of his career with this kid throwing a football. How is his like huddle presence?
Oh, it's incredible, man. And it's, it was so cool even last year, you know, to step in as a rookie,
filling in for two guys, you know, the two starters that had gone down and just to step in with such
confidence and the ability just to command the huddle.
You know, last year, you know, I told his story about he literally came in and told
us, hey, shut up. And then, you know, I was like, oh, all right.
All right, Brock. And he's still to this day. Like, he just, he just knows how to command the
huddle. And when he's talking, he's talking. And he's going to lead that ship.
And he's done a great job. You guys have leaders all over the place. You guys had a ton of
success. I was there for a little while with you guys. But when you first came in and, you know,
guys who are six and ten and Jimmy started the last few games at a year, how has the culture,
because you've literally been there the entire time. Talk about how the culture has changed,
how Kyle's evolved, how the team has evolved, because right now you guys are perennial. You know,
you know, no matter what the record is in the regular season, what happens in a regular season.
If y'all get in the tournament, you're likely going to make some noise. Talk about how,
how that culture developed.
Yeah, hey, I've been here since Square 1, Shirm.
Man, it's year 11.
I've been here for seven years, man,
which is truly crazy to think about the fact that I went through those first,
we lost our first nine games here.
We were 0 and 9, man.
But finished 6 and 10 as soon as Jimmy got here,
and that's when things you really started to turn around.
But I felt like Kyle and John, when they brought me in here,
like they truly had, they had a vision of what this thing is going to look like
and what this locker room was going to be like,
what the culture was going to be like.
And, you know, that doesn't just happen overnight.
Like, it takes a few years to really establish that,
to get the right guys in here, to figure out.
Even when you have that vision,
you've got to go through things and see it to really, you know,
be like, all right, this is what we're looking for.
These are the guys that I want leading our team.
And it's been so cool to be a part of that and to see it grow each and every year.
And now, like you said, like,
it's expected at this point.
You know, like, it truly is.
It's something that when new guys come into the building,
they can feel it even without saying it.
You know, early on, we had to,
you kind of had to,
you have to spell it out.
You can know,
because if you don't know, you don't know.
But at this point, like,
things don't even really have to be said
because you can just witness it.
You can see how, you know,
Fred Warner trains.
You can see how Debo Samuel's showing up in shape,
ready to go.
You see the way that,
Brandon Iuke and Christian McCaffrey practice.
Like, you can't watch those guys practice
and not come away so incredibly impressed
because they've already had success.
Like, these guys don't have to prove anything.
Like, these are certified ballers in this league,
and they're still busting their asset practice,
putting everything into it.
So when you're a young guy or a new guy and you see that,
you're like, oh, okay, that's how they work in San Francisco.

Well, talk about Christian McCaffer.
for a little bit because obviously he came a little past halfway point in the season last year
and made an immediate impact.
But this year got a full offseason of work, you know, game planning.
Kyle got a full offseason to figure out how to use him well.
But it seems like the things he brings to the table are much more than even you see with what he does on the field on Sundays.
You know, what he brings to this team seems to be even more valuable.
Yeah.
No, I got to make sure I don't talk for the next 35 minutes straight about Christian because I got a,
lot of I could say that's what we're here for. But man, you're so right. Christian's impact goes far
beyond, you know, the 200 yards from scrimmage, he gets every game and the scoring a touchdown
in each of the last like 14 straight games. Like, I mean, that's massive because at the end of the
day, like it's about winning and it's about putting points on the board. And he's been a massive
major part of that. Like his stat lines speak for himself. But truly the person that we brought in here,
The guy works harder than anybody I know is harder on himself than anybody I know.
Like Christian McCaffrey is Christian McCaffrey's biggest critic.
And he's going to always push himself no matter what the game looks like, even if he had 150 yards.
Like he always feels like there's something left out there that he could get better at.
And I think just guys seeing that, like I spoke about earlier, like, you know, you see how hard he practices and how hard he's running in.
practice, man, it just pushes you like, man, if Christian's doing that, I need to do that.
So, you know, as we like to say, it's contagious, you know, that type of thing is contagious
and it gets spread around the whole locker room and really can't say enough about what Christian
has done for this team and what an addition it's been.
Well, people never give my boy juice enough credit, even though he's the best fullback in the
league and he gets the pro bowl every year.
That's not enough credit.
Give him more.
They took the all pro out of it.
there. I know it pissed you off.
I know. I know.
At least we got the NFL PA All-Pro.
We got that going. And honestly, that
means more to me than
the AP All-Pro, because I would much rather have the votes
from my colleagues, from my guys who truly
understand what we're going through to have
guys in the other locker room voting for me, as opposed to
people who are just observing us on surface level,
watching us on Sundays.
Like, it takes a lot.
You know, you know what it takes to go out there and perform and really be an impact for
your team.
So it's, you know, when players can give you those votes, that means more to me anyways.
Well, fans, though, make sure y'all get the votes too, because that matters in the
pro bowl.
I like those.
I like them all, I'm sure.
I like all the votes, please.
Hey, wait, he wants him.
He needs them and deserves them all.
But people don't even understand your impact and how hard your job is, because people
think you only have one job and you have like 17.
I see, you're playing fullback.
You're playing slot receiver.
You're playing tailback at times.
You're playing tight end or Hback, you know, whatever you guys want to call it.
Talk about that kind of how tough it is to balance, you know, that in the playbook because
I know the verbiage changes and the position changes and you got a motion here, motion
here.
I saw you catch an RPO the other day and I'm on score.
I said, okay, Drew, you're trying to get sexy.
man yeah i i take a ton of pride in that i really really do like to be able to play all those
different positions in this offense it's not easy and you know it's we've spoken in length about
how complex kyle's offense is and uh it takes a lot of preparation like i i'm taking extensive
notes even in year 11 year year seven of this offense like my note list each game is still
it's still pretty long uh because i always want to be ready no matter what position
I'm put in.
I just want Kyle to always have that confidence.
And like, oh, wait, we didn't even rep this out of 21 personnel this week.
Whatever.
Like, I know Juice will have it.
You know what I mean?
So I just want to be ready for any situation.
So that Kyle always has the confidence to call any play that he can even think of
and know that I can go out there and be successful with it.
So I take a ton of pride in that and just try to, you know, keep doing it each week.
Well, you're doing a great job, Juice, as always.
I want to talk about a guy who doesn't get enough credit.
He's been a little banged up this year.
But these receivers, a lot of people, I mean, I guess people do know now about how Kyle
coaches receivers and how hard he is on him and how you got to block.
But Joanne Jennings is taking it to a whole other level.
He was out there in the fourth quarter just bullying people.
Talk about his impact.
Man, JJ is one of my favorite players on this team.
I got a lot of locker right next to him.
So I've gotten close to him over the years.
And I just love what he puts into the game and how selfless he is and how he doesn't even,
he doesn't need the recognition to go out there and bust his tail every single day.
Because the guy, he always shows up when it's needed.
You know, we always say third in Jawan.
Like, Juan, he always has, it seems like every game, he has one or two of those really big third down pickups that it's a difference in the game.
He always makes a difference, whether it's picking up those third downs or, as we love to see him, just absolutely getting after DBs.
I know you love to see the sprappiness.
He's ruthless.
He is absolutely ruthless.
Like, that guy is going to block to the whistle every single time and through the whistle sometimes.
And he loves antagonizing guys and getting under their skin.
And he has a knack for it.
And we all appreciate him here, you know, in the locker room.
We all understand what he brings to the table.
And, you know, he doesn't, and that's what I love is that he's still, you know,
he's not getting announced with the starting lineup when we're running out there.
When people always talk about, you know, the Niners offense has so many weapons.
Very rarely do you hear his name in that long list of players.
And he deserves that recognition because he really is a weapon.
And he is a starter.
He starts on third downs, but it doesn't seem to matter to him.
Like, all that aside, he's going to go out there, bust his tail, and make an impact every week.
And that's the culture.
And that's the culture.
That's winning culture.
You know, I don't care what it takes.
If you got 69 guys who only care about winning and not care about their own stats,
a rising tide lifts all ships, as you know, and that's what's happened with this organization.
You guys got a great defense, too.
You know, we can talk about all pro-fred.
We can talk about Talanoho Funga.
We can talk about Nicholas John Bosa.
But instead, I want to talk about Tashon Gibson.
Yes.
Because Gip is back there bawling and it quietly, he had five, six interceptions and nobody says anything.
Like, oh, these are just Ghibis?
Like, it's a reason he's there.
Right.
Man, Gip, low-key, one of my favorite players on the team.
Gipp's
he's an incredible leader
just by what he does out there
like you don't you don't hear Gip talking
too much in front of the team
but he always leads by example
and if you and if you talk to him one on one
he always has something impactful to say
every conversation I have with Gip
I always come away with the like man
I learn something like this is a true vet
and I think
you know I got to check my sets
I think he's second in all
active dbs and interceptions right now.
And you never hear about him.
Last season, he was a late edition.
I think we signed him during training camp.
Nobody expected him to be a starter for us
and came in and was one of the best players.
I'm one of the best defenses in the NFL.
So, I mean, this guy, he's been doing it for a long time
and you haven't, again, there's so many unsung heroes on this team.
And that's what's going to happen.
When you have a winning team, a winning culture, it's never just about those top two, three guys that everybody hears about.
There's always so many more guys that are making an impact.
You have to have guys like Gibson in order to have a defense like we do.
Has there ever been a time you've been injured in an accident?

A win is a win.
I don't care what you're saying.
Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football,
or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes,
creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment,
and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music.
The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast, it's a space for honest conversations,
stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger.
So, if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream,
this is right where you need to be.

podcast network on TikTok. Well, the person who's starting in front of you holding the football
and field goals is having quite a season for himself as well. He's, what does he got? Seven inside
to 10 or inside the five? It's not too bad. My man Mitch, Wishnawishki. Mitchell Wishnawshki.
He's having a pro bowl season. Talk about his impact, you know, because obviously he's not
an American. He's a 30-year-old Australian, Ozzy.
Dude, he's had an incredible year. Listen, we're not trying to punt ever.
But it happens sometimes. We're not going to, unfortunately, we're not scoring on every single
drive. But when we do have to punt, we have all the confidence in the world that Mitch is going
to pin them down. And good luck going 95 yards on our defense. You know, what more can we ask for
if we're not going to score, then to put the opposing team's offense in that position to have
to go the whole field on our defense, like, we feel like that's a tall, tall task, tall order
for anybody.
And man, he's just, he's got so many tricks in his bag.
Right.
So you'll appreciate this.
So this, during training camp, I haven't been doing as many special teams this year,
which has been nice.
Like, I've been a little more fresher for offense.
but while special teams are going on and I get a little extra warm up,
I like getting involved in everything.
So I started catching punts.
I started catching puns this training camp.
Okay, yeah, I was my, so right now I'm the emergency punt returner.
Oh, hell.
But regardless, I got to experience firsthand what it's like trying to catch Mitch's punts.
And man, that is a slept on ability.
Ability, no question.
Holy smokes.
Like being able to catch any NFL punt, let alone Mitch Wischnowski's punts.
His little freaky, like dead looking.
These banana balls that are spinning in a million different directions or he's hitting
these knuckle balls, you know, it gets taken for granted.
Like you watch these games and you just expect, all right, the returner's going to catch
it every time.
And if he doesn't, everyone's blown away.
Believe me, that thing is not easy.
So shout out to Ray Ray McLeod making it look so easy for us.
us because he's done a great job with that as well.
Speaking of making it look easy, your offense made it look easy against my old
defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, what did y'all see on the tape?
You know, was it anything from that Arizona game or was it just from the playoff game
or, you know, I never mind, never mind.
I ain't going to make you give away no secrets because y'all might have to see him again.
We're going to pass that one.
We'll go to our guy, Mike McDaniel.
How often do you laugh when you see him doing press conference knowing what you know about
Mike?
I am so entertained by everything that Mike does.
He is such a personality, man.
One of my all-time favorite coaches, all-time favorite people.
Man, he is truly one of a kind.
And I get so fired up to see the success that he's having.
And to see him genuinely just be himself.
Like what you see, that is Mike McDaniel.
Like, he is not filtering anything.
He is not putting anything behind the curtain.
Like, that is Mike.
And I love to see him be able to express himself and just be himself because that's when he's at his best, man.
When he can truly just be him.
And, man, he's so entertaining.
And I'm so happy for him.
I am too.
And speaking of his offense, I see, look, I don't know whose ideas they are, but I see a lot of mirrored concepts.
And sometimes they run them first.
Sometimes you guys run them first.
Which one came first?
The chicken or the egg, baby.
That's the A.
Ain't that the truth?
Ain't that the truth?
I know, listen, it's a copycat league.
We're all stealing stuff from one another.
So I'm sure both Kyle and Mike will tell you they're watching each other's tape every single week.
And if they say anything different, they're lying to you.
I see Kyle starting to use that sexy motion out of the slot back outside.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, I know what's going on there.
A week after Tyreek did that, I swear probably 16 teams in the NFL were doing it the next week.
and we were one of them.
So props to Mike for that one.
Mike, you know, he's going to keep being innovative.
And I know they got to play the Dallas Cowboys,
so they're going to be looking at that tape and saying, oh, that works, that works,
that worked, put that in the handy to the notebook.
So what are your expectations for this upcoming week?
Man, for us, it's really about continuing to get better,
continuing to build on what we have.
And like I, you know, when we started the show, I said, like,
it's hard not to feel good where we're at.
We've won every game that we've played.
We're 5 and 0.
Things are really clicking on all cylinders.
But really the message that we've been throwing around in the locker room is,
man, they don't hand out rings from winning the first five games of the year.
We know that.
Like, I wish they did.
I need a ring, man.
Right, right.
We won the first 8 in one year.
Yeah, we got close to getting the ring.
And guess what?
Yeah, we got close, but we still didn't get one.
We weren't holding up no trophies.
So that's what it's really about is getting better and knowing that we need to be prepared at the end of the season when it truly, truly matters when your backs against the wall and when it's win or go home.
So we have to continue to progress.
And I think that's what's going to motivate us and push us for the rest of the season each week is just knowing that.
So that's, I mean, that's a big focus for us and knowing that it's not even always about who we're playing.
Yeah, we got a good defense we're going to.
against in the Cleveland Browns.
But it's really about us and about how we can continue to get better
and how we can be prepared when, you know, stuff truly, truly matters.
How often do you think about that 2019 season or lean on the experience?
That is the last time the San Francisco 49ers went to the Super Bowl.
Obviously, you guys have went to NFC championships.
But do you ever think about that or have any memories from that season that are fond to you?
Yeah, man, of course, of course.
And my fondest memories are being teammates with Richard Sherman, man.
Oh, that's what I was fishing for.
That's my God.
You kidding me?
Hanging on the Greenbriar with Big Sherm on the craft team?
Come on now.
You can't tell everybody about what's going on at the Greenbrose.
Never mind.
Never mind.
Never mind.
Never mind.
But, man, yeah, there's a lot to draw from that season because, you know,
we were able to get to that game, really get to the party.
And, you know, now I know what it does take during the season.
to get to that point.
So, yeah, I draw from that season all the time.
And I always think about it, man.
I try not to let it get me down.
Don't let it get you down because you're still in it on a great team that's going
back to that game.
But what is your mindset going to that game if you get there again?
Man, if we get there again, like, it really comes down to we got to, we got to execute
even better, you know, like the whole time.
The whole entire time.
And that, okay, there you go.
That's, you honestly, you just said it right there, is executing for the whole 60 minutes,
because we executed for about 53 minutes.
And just like they don't hand out rings for the first five games of the season,
they don't give you the W until those, that clock reads zero.
And so if we, when we get back in that game, it's all about playing until that,
until the final whistle.
I mean, I think we scored 20 points in that game.
And we know that's not enough.
And it wasn't enough in that game.
And we have a higher standard for ourselves.
Yeah, no question.
I can't wait to see that.
You guys make it back.
I'm going to find a way into that stadium to watch my guys.
But I appreciate you joining me.
I know it's your day off, baby.
I let you get some rest.
If you got any questions or anything you want to say to anybody, feel free.
Man, hey, really?
Just thank you for going to that for us, man.
Hey, no, I just, I said it to you before we got on here, but I say it again, hey, we appreciate the support, Shirm.
My wife, she always jokes, she's like, didn't Shirm play for the Seahawks for like 10 years?
Like, all he talks about is the Niners.
Look, I talk about my guys.
I talk about Seahawks what I can, but the Niners are usually the game I'm dealing with.
And when you talk about the Cowboys and the way you guys are playing, I can't help but speak as highly as I can about my guys.
I know just from spending time with you as a teammate that you talk about what's real.
You've always been one of the most real people I know.
And so I appreciate your genuineness and recognizing, you know, what is happening.
And you're not trying to fabricate anything.
I feel like what you say is always authentic.
So you're the man, Sharon.
I appreciate you, brother.
You guys keep making me right.
And I'm going to keep loving you guys up.
And I hope we get 15 guys to the pro bowl this year.
We're going to get people recognized, baby.
Heck yeah, man, let's do it.
Appreciate you, brother.
You have a good day.
Good luck this week.
Thanks, brother.
Appreciate you.
Talk soon.
Yes, sir.
The volume.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an
Acapella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with
athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
