Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. I'm Joey Dardano. And on my new podcast, Hope From a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to me. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to help from Hippocrite Wednesdays on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The story I've told myself can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection. This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown if you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole.
Starting point is 00:01:22 This podcast is for you to hear more. Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This is Saigon, the story of my family and of the country that shaped us. From IHeart Podcast, Saigon. You don't think I'm serious about a free Vietnam? One city, a divided country, and the war that tore America apart. It's for Vietnam. They're pouring patrols all over here.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Freedom for Vietnam! There's a... Fire coming to this country and it's going to burn out everything. Listen to Saigon on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, folks, we are back with some breaking news out of the UFC today as Connor McGregor has been suspended for 18 months for a whereabouts violation, not just one, but three times from what's called the Combat Sports Anti-Doping Agency. No longer is the UFC with Usada.
Starting point is 00:02:22 It's the Combat Sports Anti-Doping Agency. And this is major news, but not for the reasons you think. What do I mean? Breakdown, let's go. All right, so this hit the airwaves about 30 minutes ago from Carlos Contreras Legaspi, a writer for ESPN Deportes. He broke the news that Connor McGregor has accepted an 18-month period of ineligibility for a violation of the UFC anti-doping policy.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Gregor failed to provide accurate whereabouts on June 13th, September 19th. and September 20th, 20th, 24 for test collection. He will be able, or excuse me, eligible to compete on March 20th, 2026. All right, so number one, what does this mean? Well, Connor McGregor, secretly over the last year and some change, has been serving anti-doping agency suspension. I don't know if he knew about this and it wasn't public yet. This is only public for the first time for our eyes.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Is this something that Connor has known for a while? because there's been a lot of talk about his return, potentially. He kind of pipes up and says he's training again, and then he stops, or he's training behind the scenes, but hasn't given a full answer. Also, he's been talking about the UFC White House. Ariel Hawani reported yesterday on his show that Connor McGregor had not come onto his show for reasons that they would kind of leave open-ended. He essentially, he's like, I didn't, he didn't cancel on me.
Starting point is 00:03:49 We just thought it was best not to have him on the show yet. And this was yesterday. He addressed that. So it's been on his show last week. Connor did go on Fox News and say It's ready Soin sealed and deliver the White House And the Mac is back
Starting point is 00:04:01 Which meant nothing because Dana Then came out and was like Yeah no we haven't negotiated with any fighters For the UFC White House card But with all that speculation This tells me that Connor probably knew Already before we did And has been quietly serving his suspension
Starting point is 00:04:16 Now with about six months until the UFC's White House card And being retroactively Given this suspension Connor has been serving essentially since September 21st, I assume, 2024, which would make him eligible in March 20, 2026. So Connor could still fight at the White House car. And that's fine, but there is some interesting parts of this that make me a little bit skeptical as to what happened here if it was just a whereabouts miss because Connor is all over the world on his Lamborghini yacht, right? Flying here, boat traveling there, different islands every day, every week.
Starting point is 00:04:53 I got some questions, so let's take a look at the article that was written here about this and see if there's any details that I'm missing. The Combat Sports Anti-Doping announced today, Connor McGregor of Doubler and O'Yelan, has accepted an 18-month period of ineligibility for a violation of the UFC anti-doping policy. McGregor missed three attempted biological sample collections within a 12-month period in 2024, which constitutes a violation of UFC ADP. UFC athletes are required to provide accurate whereabouts information at all times, so they can get contacted and submit to biological sample collections without prior warning.
Starting point is 00:05:29 McGregor's mistests occurred on June 13th, September 19th, and September 20th, and were each classified as a whereabouts failures by SNAD or the Combat Sports Anti-Doping under the UFC ADP. Although McGregor failed to make himself available for testing on those dates, SNAD noted that he was recovering from an injury and was not preparing for an upcoming fight, at the time of the three-miss tests. Really quick, want to make a point here. That's true, but it's very interesting these dates, especially the June 13th date,
Starting point is 00:06:03 because that just happens to be the day, I think, before, but reported on the day that Connor McGregor pulled out of the Michael Chandler fight at UFC 303. Remember at that point, we had heard about his toe injury and potential broken toe, but there were very odd circumstances surrounding. Number one, you know, there was an announced press conference that was supposed to take place in Dublin,
Starting point is 00:06:23 And then it just didn't happen. And we didn't really have any answers for it. And rumors started to swirl that potentially Connor was injured and was not going to be able to compete. But he missed the test the day they or the day before, they call the fight off. I'm not saying, I'm just saying that is a little suspicious as to what potentially was a reason for that.
Starting point is 00:06:42 And then a couple of months later in September 19th, September 20th, not really sure what to make of that. Connor, like they said, wasn't preparing for a fight. Could that have been something where he's on the mend and trying to heal up and XYZ, sure, but why wouldn't that make him available for the test because he's injured? And how is that an exception for anybody else
Starting point is 00:07:02 who's injured either after a fight, before a fight, whatever else? And I think everybody, you know, understands how strict formerly USADA and now combat sports anti-doping is with keeping tabs on everyone regardless of where you're at in the world and you having to keep tabs with them. This seems like the same way that Usada operated under the UFC as well.
Starting point is 00:07:24 But it is interesting. Connor, the first one he misses was an in-camp test because they were in camp. UFC 303 right around the corner. Connor and Michael Chandler are about to go do their press conference and Connor pulls out and either misses the test after he pulls out or misses the test and then pulls out. I would love to know the timeline on that because I think that's super important and we're not getting any details on that.
Starting point is 00:07:48 But we continue. McGregor fully cooperated with CSAD's investigation and accepted responsibility and provide detail information that CSAD determined contributed to the missed test. Despite the mitigating factors, CSAD emphasizes that accurate whereabouts filings and the ability to conduct unannounced testing are essential to the success of the UFC anti-doping policy, taking McGregor's cooperation and circumstances into account. CSAD reduced the standard 24-month sanction for three whereabouts missing by six months. This period of eligibility began on September 20th, 2024, the date of his third whereabouts failure,
Starting point is 00:08:26 and will conclude on March 20th, 2026. This is also very interesting information because I think as everybody knows, there was a parting of the sea between the UFC and USADA when it was the United States Anti-Doping Agency running the drug testing policy for the UFC. and that was because, at least partly, USADA operates on its own. It is a testing program on its own that was hired by the UFC to conduct testing. I could be wrong about this,
Starting point is 00:08:57 but the Combat Sports Anti-Doping Agency or program doesn't, I don't know if that's any different from the UFC, if that's something that is controlled in the UFC or if that's something, again, that's hired out. But kind of like we saw in certain circumstances, even with USADA, the timelines of when certain fighters get suspended and then get lifted off suspension, is, we'll just say, a little bit skeptical, a little bit suspect,
Starting point is 00:09:22 because a regular fighter would have served a 24-month suspension. And again, they said he didn't because, I guess, his cooperation and fully accepting the responsibility of it and taking circumstances, which I'm not sure what the circumstances would be. They said he was injured. I didn't know that was a circumstance for not testing. But had he'd served the actual 24 months, that would have given him March, April, May, June, July, August.
Starting point is 00:09:47 September of 2026. A full two years after the 2024 double miss in September. So that wouldn't have allowed Connor McGregor to fight on a potential White House card. Dana has said they've made no actual bouts yet for the card. He said that no one's been scheduled. He said there's talks between certain people like a Connor McGregor and there hasn't been anything concrete. But that tells me if there is anything going on behind the scenes that this just so happens to make Connor McGregor available for the White House car. Just so happens that it perfectly lines up to where three months after is March 20th reinsertion, he is able to hit the ground running with some training. Now again, I'm not saying anything funky is happening here. I'm just saying it is very interesting. Something else
Starting point is 00:10:34 that's interesting to me is, if you guys remember back a couple of months ago, Connor McGregor supposedly re-entered the testing protocol or the testing pool towards the comeback to the UFC White House event. This was on, I think, July 15th, and that's starting to make me go, hold on a second, how is this all working? Because if Connor McGregor re-entered the UFC's drug testing pool on July 15th of 2025, but was already supposedly serving a 18-month sanctioning from that time while he was out of the testing pool? Is that what I meant? to believe that those times that they weren't coming and retesting him because he's out of the pool from September 2024 to July 2025, that counts as a part of his suspension time or his
Starting point is 00:11:20 sanctioning time, even though they weren't continuing to test him because he's out of the pool. It's not like they chose to not test him during that time period. It's just that he's out of the pool. There's no point in testing him. He's not able to be tested. So how does that really work? Things are not adding up here. Again, I could be just tin foil hat on this thing, but it's just interesting.
Starting point is 00:11:38 And even from the CBS article where we see the report of Connor McGregor officially returning to the UFC drug testing pool, that only made sense because we didn't think he was already sanctioned. So how does it make sense now? There's another part of this article where it says, however, the official UFC anti-doping website indicates that McGregor has completed his first test this year. McGregor tested 11 times last year,
Starting point is 00:11:57 mostly before a planned fight with Michael Chandler at UFC 303. Grigger pulled out of the fight with a broken pinky toe, the two former UFC champion, the two-time, excuse me, two-division, UFC champion hasn't fought since Dustin Portier beat him in July 2021. Very, very interesting stuff here. Number one, the fact that the day he pulls out of the Michael Chandler fight is the first day he misses his test or the day before he pulls out, he misses it. I can't remember the timeline there.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Number two, the fact that he gets six months off his two-year sanction for cooperation and circumstances, circumstances we don't really know. Number three, how he still is serving an 18-month sanctioning whilst not being. being in the pool for October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May, June. Nine months of that, I'm not really sure how that works. He's not even in the pool. How can he be serving a sanction? I know it's a competition sanction, but still, aren't, isn't he supposed to remain in the pool to serve that time?
Starting point is 00:12:52 Anyway, this is some crazy stuff. And it's important for a lot of reasons. Number one, it probably does confirm to us that Connor McGregor is going to fight on the White House card. Maybe it's not in all certain terms, but the way this is lining up, the reason this is being announced, or being written about now, how this news came out, where it came from. I think it all makes a little bit more sense, because this feels like they had to get ahead of it, they had to speak about it,
Starting point is 00:13:17 before Connor started to plan a return. And by the way, here's something else. Again, tinfoil hat weighed here. Connor McGregor yesterday popped on Twitter to say, hey folks online, I'm out of here for a bit, see you again soon. My love unwavering, thank you all. That little convenient for anyone? The day before this comes out, Connor's like, yeah, I'm off socials.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Did he know what was coming? Or is this all part of the move to get Connor because we thought, okay, this is going to be refocused Connor. That's why he's getting off social. Oh, Connor, maybe he had an obligation with Fox News. That's why he didn't go on Ariel Hawani. Maybe Ariel had this story. I was going to ask Connor about it.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Again, does it matter in the long run? No, Connor will probably be back in time for the White House. But it does make you ask some questions as to what was going on around that Mike Chandler fight. Because that was the first guy. I said that Connor, you know, if he had an injury, this would be the first fight he'd ever pulled out of. Usually Mr. Reliable. And maybe he did have the injury.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Something's not making sense here. timeline-wise, things are off. But that's just my take. Comment below what you guys think. Connor McGregor suspended retroactively up until the point of March 2026, 18 months suspension for failing his whereabouts requirements, three separate times, one of which was the day before he pulled out of the Mike Chandler fight. And just so happens, it's three months before the White House card in which Connor McGregor will be eligible. And I don't think that's a coincidence.
Starting point is 00:14:34 I think that means Connor McGregor will be fired. at the White House. Don't have any answers on anything. I'm just asking questions. What do you guys think? Let me know. Will Connor McGregor be on the White House card? Will he be ready? And will he be adhering to the UFC's anti-doping policy and making sure he clarifies his whereabouts for tests? I don't have those answers. But I guess we'll find out. Folks, we are back on the way concept presented by the Ring Magazine. And today, I have an update on the Rajah Jackson situation. Apparently, Raja Jackson has been charged with a couple of different battery charges. One felony, one misdemeanor.
Starting point is 00:15:10 But we're going to talk about the details and why he pled not guilty, despite all video evidence pointing to the contrary. It makes absolutely no sense to us, maybe for him. Either way, I don't see it going his way, and he could be going to prison for a very long time. What do I mean? The breakdown, let's go. He is the star of a Wade concept. All right, so, MMA fighting and Damon Martin has written an article saying,
Starting point is 00:15:40 Roger Jackson pleads not guilty to battery charges after assaulting pro wrestler faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. Son of UFC legend could face serious jail time. Okay, number one, kudos to the LAPD and the prosecutor's office for actually filing not only, you know, misdemeanor battery charges, but felony battery charges. That's the only thing I can think of that would get him seven years. I don't know why he wouldn't get attempt murder charges.
Starting point is 00:16:08 I mean, there was a premeditated, I'm going to go fuck him up. No, he didn't say, he might, I don't even remember what he said, but it wasn't, I don't think he said I'm going to murder him, but he essentially said, I'm going to beat him until they stop me. It was live streamed. And for those that don't remember, Roger Jackson almost killed a man as he beat a professional wrestler, Psycho Stew, into a concussed and bloody pulp, whilst everyone else just watched him do it.
Starting point is 00:16:32 when people tried to intervene. He threw them off, went back for some more, until more people tried to intervene. If you guys didn't catch this story, I got multiple videos, we'll link to it at the end here. But the point is, Raja Jackson showed little to no self-control, showed at least ability to cause battery
Starting point is 00:16:48 and want to cause battery to Psycho Stew. And at the very most, I thought he attempted to murder. Point blank period, he tried to punch him until he was either tired or just felt like he was done, which didn't look like was coming anytime soon. because he hit Psycho Stu, the pro wrestler, that he slammed on the back of his head and then proceeded to hit 23 straight times while he was already knocked out. It's a miracle, in my opinion, that Psycho Stew even breathes right now and not through a straw.
Starting point is 00:17:18 But Roger Jackson pleads not guilty. Hilarious, but let's see why. Raja Jackson pleaded not guilty in court on Thursday after he was hit with a felony battery charge and a misdemeanor battery charge for assaulting a pro wrestler at an event in Los Angeles this past August. After he was arrested in September and released on $50,000 bail, Jackson, the son of former UFC light heavyweight champion Quentin Rampage Jackson, was back in court for his arraignment after the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office moved forward with the criminal complaint against him.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Two charges include sentencing enhancement for allegedly causing great bodily harm, which could add an extra three years to a present sentence. Based on the charges, Jackson could potentially face seven years in prison, if convicted. The 25-year-old is due back in court. on November 24th for a preliminary hearing setting in his case. Jackson, a pro fighter, was arrested in September after he assaulted Stuart Smith, aka Psycho Stu, during a Knox Pro event in Los Angeles where Jackson was scheduled to appear. The entire altercation unfolded after Jackson was scheduled to interfere in a match,
Starting point is 00:18:19 but ultimately went off script. He picked Smith up into the air and slammed him back to the ground. Jackson proceeded to then unleash more than 20 punches, many of which landed after it appeared Smith. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a...
Starting point is 00:18:40 We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And we were thinking I'm originally calling. it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers was this is how you guys remember it
Starting point is 00:19:05 going down yes I have a very different memory of this we were talking about a thing a bit for the podcast people could call in and say hey Jonas and then I wrote down on my little note pad hey Jonas and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast but thanks for remembering that guys listen to hey Jonas on the iHeart radio app Apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast just listen we don't care where you hear it What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
Starting point is 00:19:37 And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall.
Starting point is 00:20:02 And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the.
Starting point is 00:20:28 iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Keith Giamanka seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad, but secretly, he became someone else, a master of disguise who went on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea? It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out. Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like? No. I didn't want to manifest that. I was trying to manifest success.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Every family has its secrets. But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life? That is not the look of an innocent man. This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever because everything that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue. Listen to Deep Cover The Family Man
Starting point is 00:21:31 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shake my behavior and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection.
Starting point is 00:21:52 This Mental Health Awareness Month tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown and explore the journey of healing, self-discovery and returning to yourself. We explore higher consciousness, emotional well-being, and the practices that help you find clarity, peace, and self-mastery in a world that can feel overwhelming.

If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you. to hear more. Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network
Starting point is 00:22:34 on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. It was already unconscious before other wrestlers were finally able to drag him off. Smith was admitted to local hospital where he spent several days in intensive care with family members and later revealed he suffered trauma to both upper lower jaws, laceration to his upper lip, a fracture to his malixibone, which resulted in the loss of several teeth from the assault. Prior to the ring incident, Smith and Jackson were engaged in a separate incident when Smith hit Jackson with a beer can prior. Might I add, lightly. Believing Jackson was another pro wrestler involved to help hype the show. Video showed Smith later apologizing and the two shook
Starting point is 00:23:13 hands. Jackson was then seen on a live stream saying that he was going to get his revenge, quote, for real. After jumping into the ring for the planned showdown with Smith, the vicious assault was captured on live stream, which led to an investigation by the LAPD before Jackson was eventually arrested. Jackson has not publicly addressed. Jackson has not publicly addressed. the incident since it happened. Now he faces potential prison sentence if convicted on all charges. Now, there was, I think, an update here from TMZ Sports as they caught Raza Jackson leaving his court appearance, asking him some questions. He doesn't say anything here. It's just him leaving the court and walking off.
Starting point is 00:23:47 Do you feel remorseful about what happened? Do you have anything to say to your fans? Thank you, Raja. Yeah, Raja don't feel remorseful for any of that stuff. And he has to be remorseful. opportunities to feel remorseful multiple times whilst he was punching a man or trying to fight the people getting him off of the guy he was punching into oblivion and after the event where I think the words he used were my bad I can't let people keep trying me and I got to prove I'm not a bitch no legal expert but I uh I think that usually means he's going to be acquitted of all charges right no I listen I don't know how this case is going to go but it's clear as day that raja deserves to to serve jail time here deserves to serve time in prison seven years seven
Starting point is 00:24:34 years, honestly, for what he attempted to do, which again, I think was caused great bodily harm to psycho stew, it wouldn't be out of the question for me. Honestly, it wouldn't be because I will stick by this until the day I end up passing. Raja was not going to stop hitting stew. He did not pull any punches. He was trying to assault that man, hurt him badly for his get back over what he had gotten into an altercation with Stu earlier in the parking lot. An empty beer can that Stu placed his hand on Raja's head and then slapped a beer can on. Again, Stu shouldn't have done it. Didn't realize that Raja wasn't a pro wrestler.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Raja then spoke with Stu, they shook it out. And then Raja, because he was on live stream and because, again, 25-year-old Raja is not a kid, but is acting like one. And I hate the idea that, oh, he's just a kid, so it's okay. Or he's just a kid. He didn't know any better. No, he's 25 years old. It was getting rage-baited by probably a bunch of 12 to 17-year-olds.
Starting point is 00:25:34 in his kick live stream. And whatever future he had in fighting, whatever or ideas he had as far as what he wanted to do, up in flames like that, all over his ego and the fact that he couldn't stand a little trolling from his chat based on the interactions he was doing and was happening to him on live stream. And we've talked about, you know, how Rampage Jackson handled the situation with I thought was really, really bad.
Starting point is 00:25:59 I thought it was just adverse, ignorant, second, indifferent. And then third, you could see there was a reality that said in with Rampage. It was like, yeah, this is bad. My son may need to go away for some time. And I respected that. The reality of this case is pretty simple. Raja has no idea how to control himself. It seems like in a setting where someone attacks his ego.
Starting point is 00:26:23 And I don't know if that's a behavior that has been learned over the time he's been live streaming and having to interact with people that aren't in front of him and being trolled by chat and actually his dad. or just a lack of awareness in general as to what happens when you assault someone, when you actually batter someone into the point where they're days into the hospital. And again, I'm only covering this as an update,
Starting point is 00:26:43 but it really, really frustrated me how the rest of the other side of the internet or the other side of the opinions on this case went where people were saying that Raja was working and that PsychoS Stu wasn't really hurt and they were worked punches and all of this nonsense. How Raja wasn't going to get charged because it was a work? Yeah, really? You sure?
Starting point is 00:27:02 That's what I'm. thought. Seven years potentially for Raja, and again, that's the max. I don't think that Raja will probably end up even serving that long, but you do the crime, you got to do the time, man. Like, I don't know how any adult hadn't sat down with Raja and either told him that the way he was going was going to end up with him fighting someone or potentially getting in jail. His own dad. Rampage had said that on, I think, a couple of podcasts. He was afraid his son was going to go to jail. Turns out the fear was a warranted one, because he was. Raja got himself into a situation where he let external factors affect his ego and potentially
Starting point is 00:27:37 he's going to go away for a long time for it. They said he has another court date in November. We'll keep updated on this story. But if you're asking me my opinion on if Raja Jackson deserves to be in prison, deserves to go to jail for X amount of years, the answer is yeah, he does. Don't know him as a person. Can't comment on his character outside of this incident. But he wouldn't be going to jail for his character outside of this incident. He'd be going to jail for what he did to Psycho Stude. And what he did to that man, in my opinion was punch him until Raja got tired. Punch him until he felt like he was done,
Starting point is 00:28:09 which for me lines up with try to hurt him to the point where he potentially murders him. And before we get out of here, I do want to talk about the plea if not guilty. I have to assume that that is some way for him to take a plea deal. I don't really know a lot about like how you plea and what happens when you plea a certain way. But usually you would think if Raja wanted to take a deal
Starting point is 00:28:29 and shorten his sentence, he would plead guilty and then they would work on a deal. If you plead not guilty, you're trying to fight this. And I don't mean trying to fight in the way that he did stew where he just stood over him and threw punches on a defenseless individual. He's going to have to try to fight
Starting point is 00:28:43 live stream camera, evidence, his own admission of what he wanted to do on camera as evident. The actual assault being captured, witness statements that were there, everything. And none of it goes in his favor. So to plead not guilty,
Starting point is 00:28:58 I'm not a legal expert. I have no idea why someone would do that if every bit of evidence was there and they weren't looking at taking a plea deal, but we'll see. We'll see. His lawyer's probably no better than I do. But I got two eyes and I saw what happened. And so did everybody else. And that jury and that judge will as well.
Starting point is 00:29:15 So what happens next for Raja? He's got a court date in November. I don't have those answers. Comment below what you think. And in November we'll revisit it. Because then and only then, guess we'll find out. All right, folks, we are back on the way concept presented by the Ring Magazine. And today we got some interesting.
Starting point is 00:29:31 insight into the training camp for Jervante Tank Davis and what he and potentially his team are the most concerned about with Jake Paul and what Jake Paul could be the most concerned about with Jervante Davis. As we know, big exhibition coming up November 14th. We are going to do a live stream watch party for that. I don't know in what way, but we got to make it special. You guys know when I do these watch parties, they are insane. We want to have some guests. We may do a 24 hour. I'm not sure leaving the comments what you want to see. But we may be seeing. the formulation of a game plan and tactics from this training footage from Jervante Davis. And I think I may understand the key of what they want to do, how they want to go about it, and why Jake Paul might be in more trouble than I originally thought.
Starting point is 00:30:15 What do I mean the breakdown? Let's go. All right, so Calvin Ford, coach for Javante Davis, has been for pretty much since Javante started boxing. Sat down with Marcos over at Fight Hub. Shout to Marcos for the footage, man. He's always killing the game with interviews and everything else. He sat down on Marcos and they talked about Tank and potentially what he will do after the Jake fight,
Starting point is 00:30:39 why he's doing the Jake fight, and what their biggest concerns are, which your biggest concerns end up being what you turn into your biggest weapons. The things you're most concerned about, you look to exploit because that's usually the other person's greatest strength. And behind it's their greatest weakness. So I'm going to take a look at this interview and show you guys why I think Jake might actually be in a little more trouble than I originally thought with this fight and why I'm, I'm going to be more excited to see what Tank brings if the mindset is where I think it is. So how are we with everything, man? How's Tank been?
Starting point is 00:31:12 Good headspace. Great hair space. Looking good. You know, just trying to go through our stages. You know, it's like pre-camped in camp, you know, get them from, we ain't fought in a while. You know what I'm saying? We was getting prepared for a roach. And then we got blessed with this fight.
Starting point is 00:31:29 That's how I look at it, you know. Interesting comment there that they were getting ready for the. Roach rematch and then this fight was, you know, he said they got blessed with this fight, but this fight came through. So the plan was actually to go and rematch Lamont Roach, which is something that I think he should have done. I think they, you know, for Tank's legacy, for, you know, just the sanctity of pro boxing when it comes to a world champion and what they do with that world championship belt, I think he should have taken the Lamont Roach rematch. It seems like they were going to, but the obvious reason that everyone I think knows why they didn't is because
Starting point is 00:32:00 Netflix and a Jake Paul fight come with a match. massive bag. There's probably no comparison to what Tank will make to fight Lamont Roach or anybody else compared to Jake Paul. Whether you like that or not, it's the truth. He is a money fight. And so is tank. And that's why they're going to do a shit ton of viewers on Netflix and why they're going both make a shit ton of money. So the point I want to take away from that is that they were starting to get their minds and body ready for Lamont Roach, which means the tank was in somewhat of a serious pre-camp, right? Somewhat of a serious, you know, workout regimen, getting himself in shape. Not the tank is super out of shape, out of camp.
Starting point is 00:32:35 I don't know that. But this means that he was mentally preparing for a fight regardless. It's not hopping off the couch tank, which is not what you want to see, even against Jake Paul, because the least serious you take Jake, and I've said this about everybody that's fought him, the ones that don't take him serious,
Starting point is 00:32:50 the ones that say he's a YouTuber and everything else, they end up losing, or they end up looking like, oh, wait a second, this guy was a little better than I thought. They end up either getting taken by surprise or actually sometimes losing because they don't realize that Jake actually takes his serious. So this is good to hear just already right off the rip. They were already doing something.
Starting point is 00:33:07 Surprise. So tell me, you know, when did you hear about this? They've been going back and forth for years, Tank and Jake. They've been going at it for years and it would have happened sooner. You know what I'm saying? But we have hiccups in life. That's what I call it hiccups. But they're lessons to learn from.
Starting point is 00:33:24 But we're back on track and keeping them moving. When you heard about the fight, where you're like, wait, what? Like we're doing what? Actually, when I heard about the fight, they called me and said, what you thought about the fight. I said, the fight doable, you know what I'm saying? Because I watched tanking for years and I watch other young men and, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, deal with big guys, he's big. Um, to me, it's like Jake having his first open fights. If anybody know about the amblers going open, then you go pro. So, you know, he's a great fight a guy
Starting point is 00:33:55 that does have skills. Okay. So that's a, that's an honest, I think, assessment from, uh, Calvin forward on where Jake is and why he thinks his fights doable. I mean, I think everybody is under the same understanding that skill for skill, Jake Paul is not the same level of boxer as Tank Davis. It's not even remotely close when it comes to the skill of the sport. Now, what makes up for the difference in skill is Jake's massive size and tanks lack thereof. Jake's power versus tank skill, experience, timing speed, all that. But Jake still has some stuff, right? He still can crack. He's still for his size is a little quicker than people think, and he has a decent enough jab on him. But they see something more than maybe something. They see a lot of things that they can take advantage of. I'm
Starting point is 00:34:39 sure Jake and their team says the same thing. But you heard Calvin specifically say, I've seen what smaller guys can do with bigger guys in the gym. I mean, Calvin's been around, not just boxing, tank, whoever, he's been around the highest level of boxing for a long time now. I'm sure he's seen countless hours of sparring footage for fighters of completely different sizes and how you have to, in those sessions, not necessarily in a real fight, but in those sessions, you have to problem solve in a different way. And that's what they're going to have to do here. To get Jake, to break Jake down, they're going to have to problem solve in a different way because they can't get hit clean too many times, and they can't stand in front of him in trade punches. I just can't
Starting point is 00:35:14 happen. So you have to do something else differently. But he's also a little concerned, which is good, again, I like a coach that shows, even in an exhibition like this, who, you know, whatever you want to call the fight, I like a coach that every time you lace gloves up, they take it serious. Whether it's sparring, whether it's a fight, whether ex-ex, whatever, your reputation, legacy, if you want to call it that for tank, all these things that you've already built professionally are on the line. So you have to take it that seriously. So just as much as he sees weaknesses in what they look at for this fight for Jake, they see stuff that concerns them. And it's not just power, it's not just size, it's something else. Let's take a listen.
Starting point is 00:35:48 My only concern is, you know, the gloves. You understand what I'm saying? Because we don't fight in 12-ounce gloves. use 12-ounce gloves. That's training gloves. You know what I'm saying? I'm like, that's two pounds away from Jake. He fights in tens. Tank fighting eights.
Starting point is 00:36:12 He meant to say two ounces, not two pounds. He losing four ounces. There you go. So my thing is, I said, put tank and eights, put them in tens. That makes a fight more interesting. You know what I'm saying? And we'll go from there because I understand. And I brought that question up to one of his hallowers. They was, no, we didn't want to do no mismatch.
Starting point is 00:36:29 It's supposed to be expedition. What? You know, then y'all went to win. Expedition, I'm dead. So I don't actually disagree with Calvin Ford here. I said this when they made the exhibition in the first place. I was like, why doesn't Tank get to wear the gloves that he normally wears? If we're doing an exhibition and the weight doesn't matter, then why does the size of the glove have to match?
Starting point is 00:36:49 Right? If they don't have to weigh the same thing, why do the glove sizes have to be the same? None of this counts on a professional record anyway. So let Tank fight in the gloves he normally fights in and let Jake fight in the gloves he normally fights in. Jake already has a massive power advantage. Putting tank in 12 ounce gloves and Jake in 12 ounce gloves, it's not the same thing, really, is it?
Starting point is 00:37:08 Right? Because Jake trains in 16 ounce gloves, 18 ounce gloves, 20 ounce gloves. You're already, on the size part of this, you're already giving up a massive disadvantage if you're tank by being 60 pounds less than the guy. Now granted, your skills, your ability, all that on your side. You have that as an advantage for yourself. But why don't we try to keep the things that we
Starting point is 00:37:29 can at least somewhat similar to how they normally fight, and that would be the gloves. I think that it would be, I agree with Calvin. I think it would be great if Tank got to fight in eights and Jake had to fight in tents, because it's an exhibition, and they already fighting those same weight gloves anyway. To put them in the same weight is actually giving Jake another advantage, if it makes sense. Like, you put Tank, who's already smaller and a glove that's already heavier than he normally fights in to hit a guy that's 60 pounds bigger, that's advantage Jake on every front. And the advantage for Tank is just experience, skill, ability.
Starting point is 00:38:01 But like when it comes to the rule set of things, it all favors Jake. There needs to be a little bit more given to Tank and the rule set to make it, like Calvin said, a little bit more fair for what they're normally doing. And if we're talking about 10 ounce gloves for Jake and 8 for Tank, that's not a major difference. But it is when we're talking about how Tank normally fights in 8s and jumps to 12s to fight Jake. His arms aren't used to that. His weight, his stature isn't going to be able to carry that. The gloves are going to feel a lot heavier.
Starting point is 00:38:26 Again, I think that's just fully advantage, Jake. I don't like that. I said this in my first video. They should have done it. I thought it was going to be like eights and 14s, but eights and tens, I would even be like, yeah, that makes sense. All these restrictions, but you want to be great. Being great is really pushing the emilogue.
Starting point is 00:38:41 You know, tank don't really care, you know? So when I bought this up, he said, dang, facts. You know what I'm saying? So, again, you know, he can weigh the tens and we weigh the eights. Then we got to fight, you know? I agree with him. I think that's the most fair way to do it. Wait, how's that gonna work out?
Starting point is 00:38:59 Like, I'm at one, 190, 195. I thought it was gonna be 190. So they gave him five. So again, they keep giving, giving, giving, you know. I ain't worrying about. And the reason a guy like Tank keeps giving and giving and giving is, again, I circle back to this because it's the only logical answer is because this is a major, major bag. That's why he's giving up so much.
Starting point is 00:39:19 Did he give up that much for Ryan Garcia? Hell no. Ryan Garcia was weight during, now again, I know it's a completely different circumstance. But Ryan Garcia got weight drained down to 35, had a weight rehydration put on him, and still Tank was able to go out there and do what he did. But Ryan Garcia made all those things happen because he knew Tank was a money fight. So it's kind of tank taking the Ryan Garcia role in this fight where he is kind of the B-side. You're not even kind of. He is.
Starting point is 00:39:43 And so he's having to make a lot of concessions to get this and get this back. When you see this fight, do you see like Tank just having his way with Jake? Like given like, no? No. No, I'm going to tell you, this is what I tell Tank. said it in the interview. I said, Tank, y'all going there doing your thing, I said, he ain't giving you nothing. Let's look at it. Look at all the
Starting point is 00:40:04 persons he fought. He ain't given them nothing. Especially when he fought Tyson. He took a lot, he stripped Tyson of a lot of things. And I said, he ain't giving you nothing. You mean to tell me you start hitting Jake with some shit, he ain't going to fight back? He said, fat. So I say, you got to take him serious. You get what I'm saying? Because he talked about, he had you on a hitness before this fight even happened. So his mental is on you. And he said it in the interview, how you think about something, make it come out and look where we at there.
Starting point is 00:40:33 He's not wrong, man. Listen, as much as everybody has jumped on this fight and talked about, you know, exhibition, circus, whatever this. There is one reason and one reason only that Jake does these type of fights. Yes, I mean, well, two reasons. One is a major bag. Two is to take legacy from these professional world champion, former world champion fighters, boxers. Fighters and boxers, really. He did it with Tyrone Woodley.
Starting point is 00:40:56 He did it with Ben Ascran. He did it with Mike Tyson. Well, kind of. But that's the entire goal. He had Giovante on this quote unquote hit list for four years because he wanted to take the shine the legacy. I'm better than he is. I'm a better boxer than Jervante.
Starting point is 00:41:12 I beat Mike Tyson. I'm on Mike Tyson's record. All that, right? That's what he wants to do. So, again, I will say if you come in and take him lightly, he can not only ruin your night, he can ruin your legacy. And that's what you can't have happen
Starting point is 00:41:28 if you're Giovante Davis. This is why I like the way Calvin Ford is talking about this, not like, yeah, we're going to go and do our thing. Whoop-to-wooop, no. We have to lock in here because, yes, it's a great bag. Yes, they're treating us well. But on fight night, that guy's not going to treat you well. And he's not just going to stand in there.
Starting point is 00:41:44 He's going to try to hurt you. He's going to try to knock you out. And he's 70 pounds, 60 pounds bigger than you. So I like the attitude, I guess I should say, that they're taking. with this. Now, Tank has not necessarily displayed that same mindset, so I hope that's what they're working on in Camp Tank's like, ah, you're a clown, a YouTuber, da-da-da. Can't do that. You cannot do that with Jake. Underestimate him and it'll hurt you or hit you with something that you weren't
Starting point is 00:42:06 supposed to get hit with. There'll be a moment in the fight that goes a little differently than it's supposed to. That's what you can't have happening. I think, you know, like the boxing fan is looking at this maybe and thinking like, Tank, there's levels to this. Tank has been fighting his whole life. Like, yeah, the weight is a big difference, but like, Tank's a mean guy in there. Like, Once he sees red, he's going to go after him. That's the part we want to see. We don't know his performance of this fight. You know, type been talking this way, and I understand that.
Starting point is 00:42:34 Why he's talking that way. He's been doing it for so long. If you work a regular job, you've been doing it so long, and you see it's like, you want to get bored. So this fight might wake him up. You know what I'm saying? This fight might bring that beast back. You always talk about I don't want to do certain things
Starting point is 00:42:54 that I need my beast to be in me, you know, and being around him, he's at a good place right now, a great place. That's the thing that you worry about with Tank, not only as his career goes forward, but just for this fight, how much motivation does he have outside of just, you know, the money that's involved in it, to get into that mindset of a boxer again.
Starting point is 00:43:11 He's talked about it in world championship fights. Frank Martin and Lamont Rose. Talk about I don't like fighting. I don't want to do this anymore. I want to go to therapy and get all this anger I got out so that, you know, I can go raise my kids. And that's a great, super awesome thing and fighting, you know, when you're not doing it as a need anymore,
Starting point is 00:43:30 and if you're not motivated to be a fighter and that's not, that killer instinct's not in your head, it's probably not for you because the other guy has it and he's hungry. When you get to that point, you probably should exit the sport. So we're going to have to see, again, we've had questions about... Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news.
Starting point is 00:43:45 What's the news, huge news? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
Starting point is 00:43:59 But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down. Yes. I have a very different memory of this.
Starting point is 00:44:21 We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Starting point is 00:44:42 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs, without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows.
Starting point is 00:44:59 Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis
Starting point is 00:45:19 is our offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers,
Starting point is 00:45:30 why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:45:47 Keith Gianmanca seemed like a mile manored suburban dad, but secretly he became someone else, a master of disguise who went on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea? It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out. Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like? No, I didn't want to manifest that. I was trying to manifest success. Every family has its secrets. But what happens when you discover that your dad
Starting point is 00:46:26 has been living a double life? That is not the look of an innocent man. This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever because everything that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue. Listen to Deep Cover the Family Man on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you're.
Starting point is 00:46:48 you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than that.
Starting point is 00:47:04 I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hippocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions.
Starting point is 00:47:18 Sike! I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice.
Starting point is 00:47:34 One ring is too scary. Cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream. Cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrat as part of the Mike Coutura podcast network available on the I-Hart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:47:51 wherever you get your podcasts. Tank in a lot of fights recently about his commitment to the sport and commitment to just being able to go into that tank mode, right? Go into that killer mode. If he can't access it versus Jake, again, that would cause a ton, a ton of spiraling and all types of bad stuff
Starting point is 00:48:11 that they don't want to have happen. But anyway, the takeaway from this interview, I'm not going to show the whole thing, but that small segment of an interview is that there are, that's an honest response from Coach Ford about what tanks doing in camp, how his mindset is, how Coach Ford is there to kind of reshape the way he thinks about this and what their concerns are. Now, let's take a look at our first footage from Tank's Camp versus Jake and see what he's been working on.
Starting point is 00:48:51 See, bro this is why Tank pisses me off, man. This right here is why Tank frustrates me to no end. Look at the talent and the skill and the effortless power and snap and rotation and change of direction and angle cutting that Tank possesses. And I know I'm glazing a little bit here, but just hear me out. This dude is nasty! Tank has been, as a prospective viewer of boxing, Tank has been one of the most entertaining styles of fighters
Starting point is 00:49:27 I have watched in my lifetime. He is just snapping, effortless power. And again, Tank is about five foot nothing, five foot one, two, whatever. But look at where all these punches are aimed. Everything to the body here. Everything to the body. Chopping, downstairs, chopping, chopping, chopping. Brick hand.
Starting point is 00:49:50 Now this, even his shots upstairs here, that's still a body shot on Jake Paul. Everything's a body shot he's throwing. Even when he's changing the levels of the shot. That's a body shot. That's a body shot. That tells me what I kind of originally thought, and this is just a clip, we don't have any insight into full game plans and sparring and things like that. But this is a drill obviously on the heavy bag where he's, one, changing the variation of shot, right?
Starting point is 00:50:24 The speed and power of shot. changing the angle of the punch, but going for time. So this isn't necessarily a ton of technique work. It may not even have anything to do with what they're trying to bring to the Jake fight. But when I watch it, I see a guy that's targeting the body. And it's the best thing that Tank could do for this fight. I mean, trying to go headshot for headshot with Jake Paul when he's probably Jake's seven inches taller than he is. I'm assuming he's going to have a bit of a reach, even though Tank has a kind of freakish reach for his height. I don't think that's a great idea. And again, you're at eye level with Jake's belly button damn near.
Starting point is 00:50:58 So you're going to have to be able to land shots right there on the waistline. And it's probably the best idea if you actually want to knock Jake out in this fight. If you actually want a game plan because, again, it's an exhibition. But if you want a game plan to get him out of there, you have to attack the body. Not that it's necessarily going to hurt Jake to the body and he's going to cripple, but it's going to slow him down, or at least that's the idea is to slow him down to drop his hands. And that way that we're in the, whatever, six, seventh, eighth round of this fight. and those hands start to fall a little bit,
Starting point is 00:51:25 and Jake's gas tank is being tested, and then tank, when he closes distance, and he will have to close distance damn near the entirety of the fight, unless Jake's just, like, walking forward the whole time. I don't think that'll happen. Then you'll see Tank,
Starting point is 00:51:38 if he's heavier with his volume, because hands are going to be heavy, but his volume usually lacks, then see him step in and go upstairs, but the body work will be key. Tank's already, you know, again, his natural level will be around the body shots, too. It's going to be a little difficult, I think,
Starting point is 00:51:52 for Jake to punch down and hit him cleanly, especially if he doesn't do it early, especially if he can't get Tank to respect him early. It's going to be tough unless, like I said, Tank just stands there and brawls with him, which I don't see happening at all. So if Tank can make him miss, get inside, work the body, make him pay there, head movement off center, pivot out, be slick, and do it again and again and again, that is when we could see a potential Tang Davis knockout. And if that happened, if Tank Davis actually knocks Jake out, he won't get the credit for it, like, oh, that's what you were supposed to do. you're a world champion boxer but that's fucking ridiculous it would be ridiculously hard for tank
Starting point is 00:52:27 to actually knock jake out like i'm i'm just that's like 70 pound different 60 pound different that means something and jake's not some guy that's never thrown punches he's a relative novice when it comes to you know skill level that tank has but still he knows how to protect himself and again his body structure allows for some mistakes to happen that he wouldn't have to pay for like he would if he was 135 pounds point being i would be impressed very if tank not knocked him out cold or dropped him with something, you know, hurt him badly. Because how much bigger Jake is and he knows how to operate in a boxing ring. It's not like me getting in there with Jervante.
Starting point is 00:53:01 I should be sparked out in 30 seconds. But Jake has a decent amount of professional fights, has beat some guys that had a decent record on his actual resume, and understands what he's doing in there. This is all Jake does is train boxing. It has for the last six, seven years. So like I said, if Tang knocks him out, which if his head is in the right place, not just literally but metaphorically, his mind is in the right place,
Starting point is 00:53:22 switched on and he's able to get Jake vulnerable to the body, if I could change very, very quickly. But that's what I got, folks. Let me know what you think in the comments. Are you liking the mindset of Team Jervante Davis? Are you liking where is Coach Calvin Ford's headspace is? They're not taking Jake lightly, but they're also seeing weaknesses there they can take advantage of.
Starting point is 00:53:45 Maybe like we see in this training footage, again, big shots to Fight Hub for getting this footage courtesy of them. Maybe it's the body shots that Tank needs to get to. Maybe it's Jake potentially not understanding the power, even at 135 pounds that Tank has. Who knows? I like this for Tank Davis. I like this.
Starting point is 00:54:03 And the other thing is, if Tank is talking about retirement, Lamont Roach, Jake, and then we're done, what if this training camp and maybe a knockout performance from Tank Davis gets him back in to the boxing mindset? Scratch that itch and gets him to want to take tough, big time,
Starting point is 00:54:20 box office in his weight class fights. Never know what can happen. But DeVante Davis is in training camp for Jake Paul. Calvin Ford says they got a healthy fear of some things, but they're ready to go in and take advantage of some weaknesses. What are they? Will they do it? Don't have those answers.
Starting point is 00:54:34 But I guess we'll find out. All right, so we are back on the Way Concept, presented by The Ring Magazine. And I just saw Duran Boots Ennis introduce himself to the 154-pound division in epic fashion. He has arrived at this division. and he is going to be a problem. What do I mean the breakdown? Let's go.
Starting point is 00:54:57 All right, so, Geron Boots Ennis versus Usima Lima tonight at 154 pounds. Boots Ennis debut at 154. Now, he comes out and stops Lima in about a minute and 30 seconds. This was light work for Geron Boots. Now, let's be honest, this is not a number one contender fight of any sort, but Usima Lima, you know, he's ranked at number eight by the WBA. He's ranked the number six by the IBF, 10 by the WBC. So he's not a high-level guy.
Starting point is 00:55:29 He's not a guy that's a world championship caliber when you have the likes of, you know, Seri Boeuch and Zander Zayas and Sebastian Fondora and Virgil Ortiz and Abbas Barow and, you know, Keith, like there's so many other Israel Madrimov. There's so many other guys that potentially we could be talking about at 154 that are going to be high. high-level opponents for Geron Boots Ennis.
Starting point is 00:55:53 We're going to get into that in just a second. But this was still a big time performance. This is still exactly what Boots needed to do. He needed to come in, make a statement, not only with his fist, but then make a statement on the microphone. And he and Eddie Hearn both did that after the fight. This was light work, honestly, for Geron Innes. Again, we wanted to see what the transition from 147 to 154 would look like.
Starting point is 00:56:17 Would he still have the explosiveness? Would he still have power? Would his power be better? Would he still be, you know, light on his feet, be able to fight out of both stances? And we're not going to get every answer to that question tonight. What we did get is a powerful, definitive puncher and Geron Boots. And it's a guy that can take a punch, by the way. The exchange that spelt the beginning of the end for Lima tonight was an exchange that both fighters landed in.
Starting point is 00:56:42 Boots got tagged with a shot. His shot just landed more clean, more powerfully, with more intention than Usima Lima's did. So when we look at the exchange of what happened in this fight, Boots came out Orthodox versus a South Paw in Lima. And both guys had talked about knockouts and, you know, putting on show-stopping performances, sending messages with their performances. But what you saw was Lima wanted to be very caught,
Starting point is 00:57:06 not cautious, but he wanted to be smart. He wanted to fight smart. He didn't want to fight reckless. And potentially get stopped, potentially get put out. You know, potentially have one of those nights where you overextend versus a sniper like Boots in us, a great counter puncher off the back foot and the front foot and out of both stances and that go bad for you.
Starting point is 00:57:26 Found out though, even boxing smart can still get you caught because Ennis didn't respect any of it. Whatever Lima was trying to do, Ennis just walked straight forward. And again, it wasn't even enough time to really establish anything because while Boots started Orthodoxy, it didn't really need to establish any of it. He just flipped back Southpaw. He said something interesting and I don't know who said it in the actual commentary
Starting point is 00:57:48 Booth. It was Todd Grisham, Sergio Mora, and Chris Mannix. And someone said that Boots was going to switch Southpaw at some point, and he liked fighting Southpaw against other Southpaws because they don't usually fight Southpaws. Like he is someone that's mastered both stances,
Starting point is 00:58:04 much like a Terrence Crawford. Would have loved to see that fight at 154. Probably never going to happen. But it is an interesting thing because Southpaws do have a little bit of an inherent advantage when fighting right-handed guys because they only usually spar right-handed guys. And right-handed guys usually only spar right-handed guys too, because there's not
Starting point is 00:58:23 many southpaws out there in every gym that you go to. And if there are some southpaws, they're not great southpaws that you, you know what I'm saying? So what ends up happening is that both south-paw fighters, Lima wants to go jab left hand. And something you don't necessarily see a lot out of another southpaw is a counter to a jab left hand by an outside step leaning to the outside, uppercut underneath the backhand, which is exactly what Geron Boots in is through, which is crazy. And he gets clipped with the left hand, but I guess just better chin wins here. It's like, you know, Boots didn't defend this super well, but he just kind of rolled with the shot, and whilst rolling with the shot, banged the lead hand uppercut.
Starting point is 00:59:02 And it was a beautiful, beautiful shot. And then from there, he hurt Lima and swarmed him, left hand over the top. I think it dropped him, actually, with the backhand lead hook, chopped him, and then dropped him right there with about a minute into the round. And then when Lima got up, he teed off on him again with three or four more solid punches. I think dropped him again. And then eventually the referee stepped in. And Lima's corner actually threw the towel as well.
Starting point is 00:59:28 This was a dominant performance, which, by the way, is exactly what it should have been. Lima is not a tough, high-level superstar opponent. But he wasn't meant to be for this first fight at 154. It was meant to see how Geron boots in us gets into this weight class, how he goes along, and honestly for him to send a message to make a statement that he does exactly what he's supposed to do to lower level competition and that's essentially buried.
Starting point is 00:59:52 Now everything opens up. Now we have the interesting matchups. We have a matchup that Boots called for immediately after the fight was over, which is the fight for, I guess the WBC interim title, even though Indora had the bell, his fight called off for supposedly a hand injury. I don't really know if there was more detail on that,
Starting point is 01:00:11 but him and Thurman, their fights off. So he's kind of sitting out for a bit here. The whole event had got postponed. So you have Virgil Ortiz. Potentially, he's got a fight coming up, obviously. But he's frustrated with not getting his title shots at 154. Ciennes, hopefully, Virgil Ortiz gets his business done with Erickson Luben. You can come back and have Virgil Ortiz versus Geron Ennis.
Starting point is 01:00:36 And that'd be a showdown because they wanted it at 147. Both guys said that both guys didn't want the fight. Now we can potentially get the fight. If you can't do that, then Boots got on the mic, and him and Eddie Herm both said they want Virgil Ortiz, which is probably one of, if not the biggest fights you can make in American boxing right now. Let's be honest. I know that neither of them hold the belt, but these two guys are looked at as if they're going to stay at 54, which may not be the case.
Starting point is 01:01:00 I think both guys will end up going up to 160, maybe even 168, but for now, kind of the boogeyman at this weight class. So, of course, that would be an insane fight. But if you can't make that, you have Zander Zias who just won the WBO belt. That may be something that Boots would look to. I would favor him in that fight. You have Abbas Barow who won the WBA belt just recently, and that guy is a fucking monster as well.
Starting point is 01:01:22 That would be a fight. I mean, Boots is the interim with the WBA, so that could be a fight to be made as well. You have the IBF belt out there. There's so much that Boots can do right now that has him in a ton of different scenarios for big fights. But the two things I think you can do right away is say, okay, well, he either is going to take the Virgil fight,
Starting point is 01:01:39 depending on what happens with Virgil and Lube. or he's going to go belt hunting. Those are the two paths right now for Boots Ennis. And again, I don't want to overstate this performance and act like it was, you know, him walking in and dropping Virgil Ortiz in round one and winning the fight. It's not that, that's not what happened.
Starting point is 01:01:59 Again, Lima is not that level. He's just not. But it was a good, needed, solid stamp of approval performance for Boots just to get him in front of eyes, just to get him established at this weight class. Now is where the real business starts. Now is where you go and prove it. Where you go and, again, he's doing exactly what he needs to do.
Starting point is 01:02:19 Say names, call people out. Say, I'm better than Abas Barow. I'm better than Fondor. I'm better than Virgil Ortiz. Better than all these guys. And then go and get it done. So I love this performance for boots. I love the trajectory he's on.
Starting point is 01:02:36 Him and Virgil Ortiz are the two most dangerous men at 154. and I think, man, even without a belt, I don't really care, to be honest, if they have a belt, if they don't, that's a world title fight, and I need to see it. So hopefully that's what we get next. But yeah, short, concise breakdown here quick to the point, because that's exactly how the fight went between Geron Boots Ennis and Usima Lima. This was not even close to a competitive fight.
Starting point is 01:03:03 Complete blowout as it should have been, and Boots did exactly what he needed to do. No more of this, though, by the way, I don't want to see any more of this at 154. I don't want to see, you know, we need another warm up or we need another. No, we're getting straight to action here. And I want to see what boots can do at 154. Can he go belt chasing? Can he go hunt all the belts? Will he fight Virgil Ortiz?
Starting point is 01:03:26 Is he one of the best in the world? I think he is. I need to see it now at this weight class. I need to see it against Virgil, Pandora, Burau, Zias, Sermin. I need to see it against all of them. Hopefully that's what's next, but I don't have those answers. You guys let me know. What did you think of this performance from Geron Boots?
Starting point is 01:03:45 NIST, he wins by first round knockout, making it look easy because it was in his debut at 154 pounds. Don't know what's next, but I guess we'll find out. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what?
