Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:34 And for more, follow Timbo Slicelife 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Winning on Clay is an art. The rallies are relentless. And at the French Open, only the toughest survive. I'd know. I competed there for decades. Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris. Jen should win.
Starting point is 00:01:56 She's an outsider to win the French friend. and she likes Clay. Listen, Leonard Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now, and I actually can win on any surface. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. All right, so UFC 318 just ended,
Starting point is 00:02:18 and Max Holloway just beat Dustin Pori in his retirement fight in New Orleans. It was a bitter, sweet fight. It was one of those fights that you wanted to see both guys. win, unfortunately, that's not how fighting or really any sports were. But Holloway wins. Two judges had it 49, 46. I thought that was the right score. Dustin Porre, obviously a little upset. Did not think so, but I thought Max did enough to get it done. A good back and forth start to the fight, but eventually Max Holloway at 155 looks like a different animal. And Dustin Porreier still has dog left in him, but I think it's the right time for him to walk away. Let's talk about it. And what it means for the
Starting point is 00:02:56 future of Max Holloway at this weight class to break down. Let's go. So like I said, this was a tough fight. Back and forth, Max Holloway coming up to 55. This is his new weight class. Had success, obviously, in the Justin Gachie fight. Really kind of outclass Justin Gachie the entirety of UFC 300. Then the big right hand, the historic viral knockout right there at the end as he pointed to the ground. He gets the BMF belt. And that moment was kind of the christening of this one, is Dustin Porreier looking for someone to match up with in his retirement bout. Why not do it for the BMF belt? Why not do it in New Orleans?
Starting point is 00:03:34 At 155 pounds. So the date was said. Now, Porriere coming into this, two wins over Max Holloway. One in 2012, which is crazy. That was before some of you were born. And the second one in 2019 in the interim title fight at 155, Dustin's actual only title win, whether you want to call him a champion or not,
Starting point is 00:03:54 I think interim titles can be a good thing. for the sport and honestly I look at Dustin as a champion even if he never held undisputed and so the fight started and Max Holloway you know coming into it the the keys I thought for the fight kind of played out in the way you thought the keys of this fight would as the first round he jumped on Dustin Pori got very busy with his hand started with the body kicks as well was having that stomp to the knee implemented into Max's game he's doing that more and more now but it was a body kicks were just so clean from Max just over and over working the with that back leg kick.
Starting point is 00:04:28 And then he was going variety. He was going hook right hand. He was going jab to the body right hand to the body. He was jab upstairs, hook upstairs. And then eventually, in the midst of all that variety, and the body kicks and Dustin not really answering punches with punches or answering attack with attack, right? Looking for counters.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Dustin just kept evading. And that would become a theme where Max would attack. And Dustin, instead of staying in the pocket, head movement, or slipping off center line looking to counter, would evade pressure, reset, then get back to the fray. I think that was one of the biggest differences in this fight, and one of the biggest reasons the fight ended up going Max's way completely. Dustin was never willing to meet an exchange.
Starting point is 00:05:09 It was only, let's reset my turn, your turn, I'm getting out of here, reset my turn. I didn't like that for Dustin, but it was very effective for Max because he had no resistance on some of these combination punches. And in the first round, he stunned and shocked Dustin Porreier, hit him with a nasty hook right hand. It was one of his best go-toes with the punches. Corral you with the hook, right hand down the pipe, drops Dustin, and really had him hurt badly.
Starting point is 00:05:32 And you wondered about the psychological effect of this whole thing for Dustin Porre. You know, it's his last fight. Lil Wayne was supposed to perform. He wasn't able to, but he's walking him out. You know, he said this is the best cut he's ever made. He's got letters. Fans are sending him. They're making him read it before the fight talking about,
Starting point is 00:05:48 thank you for all you've done for me in your career. He's all emotional. No excuses. My point is all of it comes to a point in this first. round where I go oh my god we may not even get out of the first three minutes of this fight and that's how this is going to end I thought max was going to finish him in the first round he almost did but Dustin you know he's a veteran he's savvy he got back to his feet he's tough his nails backed max off a little bit and survived the round but going into the second that was a huge round for max
Starting point is 00:06:15 hollow and again it showed you very quickly that max was here to do what he said he was going to do spoil the party look to potentially get his name into the top three or four at lightweight I think he's number four right now and use this momentum to build toward a potentially rematch with Ilya all things going his way and then the second round start and in the second round Max is having a ton of success again
Starting point is 00:06:33 and again it's all off that same unspoken agreement that they both have made now where Max is going to throw volume and Dustin is looking for one big shot honestly it did look a lot like the first fight for Dustin Porier because he looked to hit that switch that he hit on Max
Starting point is 00:06:50 multiple times in the first fight where he would throw out of Southpaw his back hand as a lead punch because Dustin, I don't know if you guys know, but it's pretty clear, is not a natural south paw. He is a right-handed person fighting Southpaw to have advantages and power in his lead hand. Look at a lot of the shots that Dustin hits people with that knocks them out. Benoit-Saint-A-Nee, Connor McGregor, the list goes on. It's his right hand. And it's out of the Southpaw position sometimes, or it's out of that switch. Lead backhand, step forward, backhand now becomes the right hand, his powerful hand, crack them.
Starting point is 00:07:23 with the back hand there. That's what usually he's able to put guys away with. And he was looking for that shot all throughout this fight because he hurt Max multiple times in their second fight with. And in the second round, sure is shit, Dustin Porrier found it. And he found it after Max Holloway had done well and gotten a huge lead in the second round because Dustin was so hesitant
Starting point is 00:07:46 or because he would try to hit that switch coming into range and didn't really follow with anything. So Max was like, cool, double jab right hand. kick to the body left hook, push off and get back to where he was comfortable, and Dustin didn't have anything for him until Dustin got hit again, got tagged again, got wobbled a bit again in that second round, and knew potentially the only way to survive that round and get back into this fight was to bite down on that mouthpiece
Starting point is 00:08:11 and bring the fight to Max Holloway. And he did that. In that exchange in the second round, he did that. And there was very few exchanges where he did that going forward. He had success in this fight. No doubt about it. Dustin had moments. He had success.
Starting point is 00:08:25 He would land his backhand. He would land a nice powerful jab, his hook backhand, but he didn't have continued success like he did in this moment because he was unwilling to continue combination punching forward. He was unwilling to get back into that fray, into that firefight, into that trade. And I think I know why, and we'll talk about it at the latter part of this fight.
Starting point is 00:08:45 But in that second round, they get into an exchange and Dustin hits him with a nasty right hand behind the ear and Max, Hits the floor. I was losing my mind, folks. This right here was potentially the moment where Dustin Porre was going to win it in his hometown or close to it in New Orleans. He's from Lafayette, but he was going to do it. And instead of following up, and it wouldn't be Dustin Porre if he didn't do this, but instead of following up, he jumps a guillotine. Don't be silly, jumped to gilly. He did it again. It was ill-advised. He shouldn't have done it. He could have potentially finished
Starting point is 00:09:19 Max there, but he only had a couple seconds left. Jumped the gilly. Max popped his head out. and tried to hit him with some more ground and pound. But that's the end of the round. I gave that round of Dustin Porreier slightly because Max did so much good work to begin, but that end of the round, I thought, was enough for him to come back and win that. But coming into the third round,
Starting point is 00:09:36 you built some momentum there if you're Dustin Porier. You know what works. You just hurt Max by fighting him in close, by throwing a little caution to the win and doing a little bit of dirty boxing inside. Close quarters combat, but the third round, Max got back to doing what he does best. sack at his kick range. Anytime Dustin wanted to blitz, boom, kick to the body. Anytime
Starting point is 00:09:57 Dustin came in without a jab and he did this a lot out of the Southpaw stance, he wanted to lead with his back hand, which would mean he would lean and lunge forward toward Max. And once you throw your back hand, even out of Orthodox or Southpaw, you throw that back hand and you lean over that lead leg. You don't have another follow-up unless you go with the lead hand behind it. Even then, you don't have a follow-up after that. The way Max throws the proper Orthodox stance. He's like, cool, throw that one shot. Here's a double jab right hand behind it. I can reset. Now my hook right hand comes behind that, body kick behind that. And it was just so repetitive that Dustin was getting caught off balance, overthrowing, non-committal on offense, and Max
Starting point is 00:10:39 would counter him, whereas on the other side, when Max went first, and he wanted to throw his combinations, and he wanted to throw his one-two or his hook right hand. And Dustin could be there to potentially throw that backhand or hell just answer with his own lead hook backhand Dustin would stand slide away try to reset the action and get started again I thought that was the biggest misstep that Dustin had in this fight was not committing fully to his offense and then when max committed fully to his Dustin allowing him to do so without being punished for it max was punishing Dustin for being non-committal max was even punishing dusting for committed but Dustin wasn't willing to do the same or just didn't have the ability to do the same or timing or
Starting point is 00:11:18 or just whatever. But that was the big difference in the fight to me. That Max, when he wanted to be on offense, when he wanted to go first, was committed to it, knew what he wanted to do, knew what he wanted to get to, knew where his advantages were, how he was going to be successful, and did it. Dustin, a little unsure. So I thought Max won the third round. I thought he won the fourth round.
Starting point is 00:11:36 And I talked to you guys earlier in the video about why, potentially, Dustin didn't want to be where he could be most successful, which was in the pocket with Max Holloway. In round five, we kind of get the reason for that. Listen, Dustin at this point, my opinion, is down three rounds to one. He kind of needs the fifth round, and really he needs a knockout to win this fight. And he had good moments. Again, singular shots, right?
Starting point is 00:11:57 The backhand, at moments the low kick. He had completely abandoned the low kick, which I thought was so silly. You want to slow Max down. You want to cut down on his movement. You want to keep him in front of you attack that low leg. But then again, there's always a counter for it. Max was doing a great job with his straight punches, so maybe Dustin didn't want to get caught off balance. But that fifth round, you know, Max is doing his thing.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Once again, he's winning the round. They get to that last 10 seconds. And it's kind of rinse and repeat, but Max points right straight down to the ground right there. And Dustin obliges, kind of, but only for a second. And this is when I started to realize. Now, again, it's an unspoke, they spoke about it. They were like, you want to do it? It's Max's thing.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Point to the ground, we're going to have a swing off till the end. Although he didn't do that with Ilya Teporia. Granted, it was at the beginning of the fight. But Max gave him the old Matador. I was like, um, I'll be a bit different. But Max points to the ground, and Dustin obliges, but when they start throwing, you could see the hesitation from Dustin Porter. He even looked to get double unders on Max at the end there.
Starting point is 00:12:50 He didn't want any part of that because Max showed a superior hand speed. Again, his volume is insane. He doesn't get tired any stronger now at 55. He hurt Dustin multiple times in this fight. That kind of answered the question for me when I said, why won't Dustin commit to his offense in the pocket? He clearly did not think he had the hand speed to keep up with Max there. He didn't want to stay there because the longer he stayed there,
Starting point is 00:13:14 Max eventually with his short punches in close. or if he was able to get back to his range and set up the hook right hand was going to catch Dustin. And that's fair. What it showed me was that tonight and maybe since their last fight, Max has grown into the correct weight class
Starting point is 00:13:29 and he's added some things to his game that made it very difficult for Dustin Porio. His setups, his variety, not just with his punches, but his kicks to the body upstairs, showing different looks, the feints, the taunts. Again, making you miss, making you pay. Not trying to reset the action,
Starting point is 00:13:45 but countering on top of you throwing. and being fully committed to what he's doing. Max showed the best version of himself tonight, maybe that I've seen since his prime reign at 145. What he's been doing recently at the end of that last run at 45, now moving to 55. This is like a second new wave for Max Holloway. He's been in the UFC for so long now.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Same with Dustin. And I know this is a Dustin-Pourier retirement thing, and we'll get to that. But Max deserves his credit here. He has revamped and revitalized his career to put himself in position now. I mean, he's right there with just, Justin Gachie, a guy he just knocked out cold not too long ago, and Armin Sarukian, and the number
Starting point is 00:14:22 one, two, and then you have Patty Pimlet in potentially that third spot, four spot, whatever. Those four guys are next up for Ilya. You can take your pick of the litter there. Sure, you know, you could say Arm and Sarucan probably deserves it. Um, Justin Gajie is right there as well. But personally, me, if you're asking, I mean, the Patty Pimlet fight I love, because there's, there's real animosity there. And there hasn't already been a definitive winner. between the two of them. I mean, Ilya knocked out Max, so you can't just go Max's next. I would love to see Ilya Patty. That's probably not going to happen. But if it did, and you made Max Justin two, or as I don't know, maybe you do Armin and Patty and Max and Justin and then the winner of the, I don't
Starting point is 00:15:03 know. But Max, the point is he's in a good position now to be amongst that next, maybe not directly next for Ilya, but right after that next, who's going to get Ilya after that? Max has put himself in a position there to be talked about. And this is just a great win for him. Obviously, there's no animosity there for Max and Dustin. And even after the fight, they read the scorecards, 48, 47, then 49, 46. Dustin seemed to be upset with the scorecards. But when you look at the stats here, it isn't, you know, it's not a crazy thing to think this is 49, 46. And you, I mean, shoot, the stats could even say that Max won every round. But, you know, given Dustin that second round on the knockdown. Max clearly was the more active, the more accurate, the more just willing to deal damage
Starting point is 00:15:48 fighter here. I mean, you look at the significant strike percentage and the total head, body. He had it all. He attacked everything. This was a Max Holloway. Boring on dominant performance. You know, he got dropped into the second round, which is why you can't say that. But outside of that, this was, this was Max Holloway doing what he wanted to do to a T in this fight. And Dustin had moments. He was successful, very much so when he committed. But at the end of the day, it was Max's fight. But Max got on the microphone and gave his flowers to Dustin Porrier, you know, talking about how he is a legend in his sport. And he is. He never was a champion, but he was right on the cusp of it. And again, he was an interim champion. One of the most, probably the best non-champion in UFC history.
Starting point is 00:16:31 I mean, there's probably people that are going to pop up in your mind in the comments and let me know. But Dustin is right up there with them. You know, you talk about like the Donald Soronies or Alexander Gustavs or people like that. I feel like Dustin had far more success than those guys did, you know. And again, I mean, he was an interim champ. Could have been undisputed had had the belts gone differently. And, you know, the UFC had taken the belt that Habib had voluntarily already given up and said, all right, somebody else fight for it back in 2020.
Starting point is 00:16:57 So Dustin got on the mic and thanked Louisiana. You know, he dropped his gloves, great tribute. They showed him a video. And overall, it was a touching moment for the diamond. He's done. And I think he's going to, he said something about being a comment. or an analyst for ESPN and if they allow him to do that, I think he's going to do a great job. I really do.
Starting point is 00:17:14 I think he knows the sport well. He can talk well. I've seen him before on the panel desk stuff. Great career for Dustin Porriere. I'm glad to say I got to watch a lot of it from when I started watching MMA in 2010, 2011. I got to see pretty much all of Dustin Porriere's run in the UFC. So that was pretty cool to see, man.
Starting point is 00:17:33 So yeah, great night of fights in the UFC. But the main takeaway is Max Holloway is revitalized at lightweight. And if he gets another shot at Iliad Seporia, I'll just remind people he, I watched that fight again the other day. He was looking damn good until he was knocked out. Now again, that doesn't mean that it wouldn't go the same way because I think Ilya is the best boxer. Maybe I've ever seen an MMA. And for him to be so relying on it and so confident in it. And even being down two rounds, in my opinion, to Max Holloway in their first fight.
Starting point is 00:18:02 He just has an it factor. Obviously, he's a great grappler, but he just has that confidence in that it factor in his boxing that he can shut your lights off. and he has the skill to get there, even at a reach and high disadvantage. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see it again. I think it's going to be some time. And Max can potentially look for some top three matchups at 55. What do they do with him next?
Starting point is 00:18:23 What happens with Dustin Porriere's retirement? Does he still stick around and do analysts work? And what does the UFC do moving forward? Because there's some interesting storylines going on. Saw Dana talking about the White House card. We're going to make some videos on that this week. The point is all these things I don't have an answer for. All I know is that Max Holloway is revitalized.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Second part of his career. Potentially can't, I won't say be as good as his first, but can potentially lead to a Hall of Fame level. Potential, one of the greatest of all time levels is if you can grab another belt type careers. But Max looks super impressive and I just can't wait to see what he does next. So great night of fights in the UFC. Max Holloway ruins the party for Dustin Boree in New Orleans. But what happens next?
Starting point is 00:19:07 I guess we'll find out. All right. We are back on the way cassette presented by the ring. It's midnight, and it's been a long day. I've been in Los Angeles, according with the MMA casuals. I just announced that I will be on Misfits boxing on August 30th, doing commentary for the good folks over at Misfits. And today, the story that has just boggled my mind, it's been going on for the last couple of days, is the entire Daniel Dubois situation. And the story is, rightfully, for the most part, been about Alexander Usik once again becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion.
Starting point is 00:19:38 of the world. Second time he's done that. Third time he's become undisputed between cruiser and heavyweight, one of the greatest of all times, certainly the greatest heavyweight of this generation. That should be the story. Point blank period. Alexander Usik wins and retains and becomes once again undisputed. Well, as in most sports, that usually is the lead story, but then there's the speculation and the rumor and the theory and and then conspiracy and maybe in some cases true to the underlying story, which is what I'm going to talk about today. Daniel Dubois in the situation surrounding his fight day and his fight night.
Starting point is 00:20:17 What do I mean, the breakdown, let's go. All right, so for those that don't know or maybe you do, I did a lot of research on Daniel Dubois today. And I found out he's one of 11 children, that he was mostly homeschooled as a child and that his father Stanley, or I guess otherwise known as Dave. I think Davis' real name goes by Stanley, not really sure, was pretty much the reason that Daniel Dubois became a boxer.
Starting point is 00:20:41 According to some stuff I've read, it goes all the way back to before Daniel was born, and that his father had a vision that Daniel was going to be a world champion boxer and trained him to be that from the age of like four or five. These training sessions, even when he was four or five years old, would be pretty strenuous to the point where Daniel Dubois had to do workouts that included him finishing the workout before food was even served at some point.
Starting point is 00:21:03 And I'm only presenting this to you because Daniel Dubois, who is 27 years old now, and again, is a grown man. We'll get to that in a second. But I'm giving you this information to show you that Daniel Dubois's father is a massive part of his life. You could argue the biggest part of his life even to this day, outside and inside a box. So it may not come as a surprise when I tell you that Daniel Dubois's father, who does have a massive influence on him, made some very odd decisions that potentially affected Daniel Dubois's ability to fight on Saturday night.
Starting point is 00:21:36 And again, before I even start talking about this, I am going to let you know. I don't think that anything we're going to say was going to effectively change the outcome of Saturday's fight between Daniel Dubois and Alexander Usik. I think Usik was going to beat Daniel Dubois, no matter what shape or form or outside of the ring, stuff happened to him and he showed up in.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Daniel Dubois got in a ring with Usik 100 times. I think Usik would probably beat him 99 to 100 times. That's how good I believe Alexander Usik is. Now that I've given my respect, both Daniel and Alexander Usik, I just want to talk about how stupid people that are around boxers can be. And I mean that 100% stupidity, selfishness, and ego find their ways into famous athletes camps all the time. But Saturday was a particular level of stupid from the man that, like I said a second ago,
Starting point is 00:22:28 influences Daniel Dubois the most. His own father. Let's take a look. This is by Daily Mail, and it is an article that entails a couple different things happening. Daniel Dubois had to, quote, walk into Wembley after a chaotic journey involving dad's party and accreditation nightmare before brutal chaos by Alexander Usik.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Before we get into the walking part, which is just insanity, let's start with the part that was the topical news story as we came into Fight Day. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Daniel Dubois, mere hours, before he's about to fight Alexander Usik. And you can tell, because he's wearing the same shirt he entered the building in, on Saturday night,
Starting point is 00:23:09 the night he fought Usik. Let's take a look at this video. See, Daniel, look, he's smiling, looks like he's having a good time, and listen, we'll get to Daniel's responsibility in this thing in a little bit. But, like I said, smiling, having a good time, right? A ton of people around them.
Starting point is 00:23:26 I think maybe he's entering the building somewhere. I don't know why there is a DMX cosplayer, a part of the venue here. I don't know who this man is and why his teeth look like a saloon door opening up. But listen, no one's paying you to play DMX at their birthday party, buddy. Bounce.
Starting point is 00:23:43 Guys, come out, come on. Again, you see here, and we're probably going to get demonetized if I keep letting it play. But look at all these people. Guys wearing a Los Angeles hat in the middle of London. I guess it fits the fake Ralph
Starting point is 00:24:01 Lauren, but as you can see, there are a ton of people gathered at Daniel Dubois's house. Again, we talked about Daniel Dubois and how he was raised. Daniel Dubois still lives at his parents' house at 27 years of age. Daniel Dubois was homeschooled. If you watched Daniel speak in public, there's a clear delineation from social interactions and the way that he approaches conversations and how he responds to questions. I'm not going to make accusations on a man's personal life. But from what I can see, Daniel Dubois does seem to struggle with a lot of social interaction.
Starting point is 00:24:37 So knowing that and the fact that he has not been formally schooled, that he schooled by his father, protected by his father, raised by his father, why on God's green earth would his father or anybody on their team think that this is a good idea to have. Well, as again, you'll see here dozens upon dozens of people just around Daniel at his house with. Music blaring. People having drinks. It's a party. It is a party. And I know what Don Charles got on Talk Sport yesterday and said it was a gathering, not a party bullshit. A bunch of people that had no business being at that house. By the way, a bunch of people that Daniel Dubois didn't even seem to know. As according to actually the report was done by the Times, I apologize. As I'm going to read an excerpt here from this article. It states a few hours earlier in the opposing locker room, the contrast could hardly have been starker. Daniel Dubois,
Starting point is 00:25:29 had not arrived to Wembley until 8.20 p.m. on Saturday, less than 90 minutes before he was due to make his ring walk. Again, we'll get to the party, but just the interlude to that. You have an hour and a half before you're about to make your walk. And I'm not saying you have to be at the venue all day. But every sports event I've ever been at, I'm not there an hour and a half before the game starts, because that's usually when we're about to let the fans in. You know, the people that are going to sit there and watch you do your thing. not the people that are going to actually go and fight each other.
Starting point is 00:26:01 The warm up, the acclamation process, being there grounded with your team, the warm up, everything needs to be planned out. And it's not usually planned out for you to get there, try to warm up and then make your walk all in the matter of 90 minutes before you're about to do it. That point of consternation gave way to a madcap fight day when Stanley hosted a party for dozens of his friends. Notice, Stanley, Du Bois' dad, hosted a party for dozens of his friends. At the family mansion in Essex, where Daniel still lives in the afternoon.
Starting point is 00:26:38 The source claims Dubois, a reclusive character despite the spotlight of the profession his father guided him toward, did not know all of the guests well, and left at one stage for a drive. So let me get this straight. The father that put so much important into teaching discipline to his son. So much importance into keeping him away from the public guy. So much important into controlling every aspect of his life. I mean, from what everything I'm being reading here seems, decides to put his son, who is clearly not great, again, in social interactions,
Starting point is 00:27:12 around the father's friends, not even the son's friends, to the point where Daniel himself gets so uncomfortable. On the day of his fight with so many people around that he has to get in the car and drive around just to get away from that and keep himself locked in or keep his mind at ease. We thought that was a winning strategy. And before the people start in the comments section or wherever telling me they did this for the AJ fight, Wade, I heard that. I heard that story when this started coming out that this is what they did for the AJ fight
Starting point is 00:27:40 and you don't rock the boat if it's working. I'm sorry, exceptions do not make the rule. Just because pure chaos happens and Daniel is such a good boxer and rose to the occasion when the AJ fight happened. And despite all of these things, these weirdo distractions that no one in his position should be subjected to, especially with his demeanor and his personality,
Starting point is 00:28:02 despite all of that he's able to succeed, doesn't mean that's a formula for success. It means that Daniel Dubois on that night against AJ was great. In spite of all the bullshit that happened to him, either the week of or day of. Because I heard that clip from Don Charles on Talksport today talking about, well, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. or that's the same formula we've been using.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Not saying this for everybody, but it works for us. Clearly, yeah, clearly works. Because he won the AJ fight. Absolutely f***ing moronic. To think that's the formula for success. I'm just, I'm fired up because it frustrates me. Clearly, Daniel's dad has an important role in this entire thing because he's put himself in control of everything
Starting point is 00:28:40 and decides to, I don't know, do whatever this is on the day of his son's fight. No one is the biggest fight of his life. It's just mind-boggling to me. that this can happen. Daniel Dubois, to any professional, but we're not done yet, let's keep going. The source claims their departure was delayed after Stanley requested extra people carriers to bring his entourage to the venue. He then drove Daniel to the venue himself, which caused another administrative issue,
Starting point is 00:29:08 as only the designated vehicles had been accredited. They then walked to the stadium entrance on foot from the car park, but a video clip shows Stanley calling Daniel towards the door after security. attempted to prevent some of his friends from entering. The source alleges Stanley essentially told them Daniel would not proceed without them. Again, this is just a one-side source claiming this, but it doesn't seem like there'd be a need to lie about something like this,
Starting point is 00:29:36 and there's pretty excruciating detail for someone to lie about, but not only does Daniel's dad stage a party hours before. Not like in the morning, hey everybody, thanks for coming out. Hours before the fight is meant to be scheduled. In an environment Daniel is so unfamiliar with, and he's clearly not comfortable in to the point where Daniel himself asks his father to leave and drive around for a bit.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Then they come back. They're further delayed because Stanley needs his entire entourage. Again, not Daniel's entourage, not the actual world champion's entourage, the dad of the world champion needs his entourage to be escorted to the venue by the service vehicles that are supposed to escort Daniel Dubois to the venue.
Starting point is 00:30:15 The father, all controlling, takes Daniel Dubois to the venue, just him and Daniel. park, like where the peep, the fans park and walk to the front door of the stadium. And then Daniel is going to get finally in his dressing room and he's called back to the front by his dad so that his dad can essentially tell the people work in the gate that if they don't let this entourage of Daniel's dad in, that Daniel Dubois himself will not be fighting on the night. Excuse me? What an absolute load of shit. I don't have any words for how nonsensical, selfish, and ego-driven,
Starting point is 00:30:48 Daniel-Dubois, Staniel, that's what I called him because it's midnight here. Stanley Dubois is in this situation, making it all about him when his son, all the things he taught his son, all the things they sacrificed, all the things Daniel sacrificed, and listened to his father for throughout his life
Starting point is 00:31:07 to get to that point, trusting his father and his father putting him in the worst position possible and the day he's supposed to go and fight. And yes, I'm making a big deal about this. And again, I don't think that it ultimately would have changed what Ussick was going to do to Daniel Du Bois on Saturday night because Usoc is an all-time grade.
Starting point is 00:31:25 Just like I said in my video, a couple of days ago, Daniel Dubois started the fight okay. Did what I think he was supposed to do to try to at least mix this fight up a little bit and have some modicum of success. The problem is it didn't matter. It didn't matter what Daniel Dubois did on that night. Ussick is just better in every aspect of fighting, it's Ussic.
Starting point is 00:31:47 He beats everyone. But it's not even about that. It's about the preparation. It's about the mindset of the people around Daniel Du Bois that allow this kind of stuff to happen, to not put him in the best position possible. His mindset and just the scheduling and all these external things happening that he either has to deal with or he's part of or he's trying to get away from.
Starting point is 00:32:08 Again, I hate doing this because I'm not a world champion fighter. never will be having experienced it on that level and I don't understand any of to that degree. But even me, one little fight that I've had, and it was on misfit. My coach, B.J. Flores, my best friend, Sensei, and my cut man Jacob Chavez, even my girlfriend and my mother would not allow me when I was in Manchester be put in an environment that I was not familiar with, wasn't comfortable in, was going to put more stress on me before I even fought. Anything that happened to me during Fight Week was handled by my team and it wasn't even brought to me. All it was from,
Starting point is 00:32:41 me to do is to be there for my training sessions, be there for my weight cut, and be there ready to go in the positions I need to. I definitely wasn't driven to the venue by my coach. We were taken in the vans and the places and the things that were provided from misfits from the zone to make sure things ran in an orderly fashion. And guess what? I could focus on my fight. And that's at the influencer boxing level, not the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. That's utterly ridiculous. Where Daniel Dubois is currently, to me, is a struggle between whether he He wants to box for him, whether he wants to be world champion for him, whether he still enjoys and loves this sport or whether he's doing what his father is telling him to do, because that is
Starting point is 00:33:21 what has always been. And his goal has been his father's goal for him, because that was what's always been. And I think Tony Bellew said it best, and we're going to play his excerpt here from TalkSport when he talked about Daniel Dubois and what happened after the second Usik knockdown. Listen, he took two big time shots back to back in that same round, and it didn't look look good for Daniel Dubois. I mean, I don't know how many times that, you know, people that are saying he quit, how many times it would take for them to feel like the fight was over because he was getting battered. The mouthpiece came out. He got tagged with the left hand. So, and yeah,
Starting point is 00:33:53 and most of them are pro boxers saying this, so I'll take their word for it. But the point I'm trying to make is regardless, whether you think he quit or had more in the tank and just didn't want to get up. The question I want to ask is why. And what's next? Here's Tony Bellew. I feel so sorry for Daniel because I just think he's a lad who's show regiment. in his ways he gets into fantastic shape. He's a proper machine, guys, and he's had a really good career. But I just think the question needs to be asked.
Starting point is 00:34:21 Why are you, who are you boxing for? Why are you doing this? Is it to impress someone? Is it to get on the, to keep on the good sides? I don't know what it is. Because he ain't fighting for money, guys. The boy's financially secure. He was financially secured a long time ago,
Starting point is 00:34:37 to be totally honest. And I know that by the fact. So you're after that's a reason Why is it? Because when he gets into these really hard moments in fights, that's when the real Daniel comes out and the real Daniel doesn't want to fight. That's when the real Daniel comes out
Starting point is 00:34:52 and the real Daniel doesn't want to fight. I don't know how much Tony Bell you is close with Daniel, I'm not sure. And he has had some really tough moments. The Dubois first fight, the Joe Joyce fight, this fight, but then he's also had tough moments he's come through, right? He's come through some tough moments in his career.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Notably the AJ fight, even though he was winning that fight, He had a moment there where AJ could have turned the tide and Daniel said no. And I guess that leads me back to the point of this entire video is that Daniel Du Bois in this situation has to make a decision. And honestly, Daniel Du Bois right now needs to be an adult. He is 27 years old. And I understand the dynamic is not a normal one with him and his father and his career and his upbringing and everything.
Starting point is 00:35:33 But he needs to decide what it is he wants right now. Because Daniel Du Bois has some physical gifts and he's 27 years. years old and he still, you know, hasn't maybe even hit his prime as a heavyweight boxer. Still can take this loss and I've been a big proponent of the O doesn't meet as much as you guys think can be a very, very good heavyweight boxer. There's still so many good fights out there for him. But he has to want to do it. And honestly, you know, from the outsider perspective, this is easy for me to say, but he has to grow up a little bit because I do fully blame his father for the decisions his father made on fight day. The party, the getting to the venue, the driving there, the
Starting point is 00:36:10 trying to threaten security with my son's not going to fight tonight, trying to coach over Don Charles in the corner, just a pure chaos and ego trip of whatever this has been for how long it's been going on. I say it's the AJ fight, maybe it's even before that. But this clearly doesn't work. And why would it? It's absolute nonsense to think that that kind of chaos on fight day,
Starting point is 00:36:34 let alone what's going on before fight day. This is just the day of. That doesn't work. For Daniel Dubois, he needs to, and that's, this moment and he probably should have then put his foot down as a grown man and say, Dad, this is, this is not your career. It's mine. Because it's pretty clear to me as Stanley Dubois is living vicariously through his son, having parties on behalf of his son before the son even goes and accomplishes the goal. Because look, look what I created. He's right there. Look
Starting point is 00:37:00 what I did. I made this. No, no. Daniel Dubois made him what he is. Daniel Dubois put that work in. And I'm not trying to take anything away personally from Daniel's dad and the situation. And again, the love they have and the relationship and all of that. I'm sure Daniel's dad is a fantastic dad and raised him to be a great man and all of that. But there comes a time where you have to separate family from business when the family is intruding, is hampering, is potentially ruining what you can do in your professional life and may bleed into your personal life. We've seen it in boxing so many times.
Starting point is 00:37:34 It just doesn't work. father-s-s-saint-it-s-does- Because eventually it becomes more about me, me, me, and look what I created you, then you, you, you, this is your time. So I guess that's where I'm going to end this video. Daniel Dubois has got to grow up. He's 27 years old. There's nothing wrong with still living at home with your parents, if that's your family dynamic. There's nothing wrong with having your dad be a part of your business. But even with all of that, there has to be a level of understanding. For Daniel, that means standing up and saying, this is my operation. If you want to be a part of it, you're going to do things my way, my career, my livelihood, my decision. That means
Starting point is 00:38:10 a decision time. So, what will Daniel do next? I don't have those answers just had to rant on the entire Daniel Dubois situation because it's sad because Daniel doesn't need to be dealing with any of this, really. Just lost the biggest fight of his life. He needs to be able to regroup and get his mind back to whatever it is he wants to do. If he wants to be a top level heavyweight, then get back to that. Who knows what could happen down the line? I assume Usoc's going to beat Joseph Parker. Cavajosa Parker fight. Kabyel sits there. Hell, Moses Atama's going to make his way up to the top parts of heavyweight soon.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Daniel will be there. Hopefully. He makes the right decisions. Rose up a little bit and treats his career like it's his and not his daddy. That's what I got to say. Appreciate you guys for watching. What happens next with Daniel Dubois? I don't have those answers, but I guess we'll find out.
Starting point is 00:38:53 All right, so we are back on the way concept presented by the ring. I'm so excited for this video today. I don't even want to waste time. Misfits 22 press conference. and first kind of meeting between all of the big names on this card went down today. If you guys didn't know, I'm also back on Misfits. I'll be commentating this card on August 30th. This feels like Misfits is back.
Starting point is 00:39:16 And I know we say that a lot, but this one really feels that way. I'm coming back to commentate. We have Dary until Luke Rockhold in the main event. We have Tony Ferguson. It's Tony Time versus Saul Pappy in the Co-Main. We have Dylan Dennis, probably the most hated man in combat sports on this card. one feels special and this press conference did not disappoint no more wasting time let's get into it what just happened misfits 22 presser was probably one of the more entertaining ones i've seen
Starting point is 00:39:44 in a long time what do i mean to break down let's go welcome everybody to london to glazers hall this is a really really interesting oh shit we got dan hardy leading the presser again great move from misfits you know what they're doing they're doing and i don't it's not a comparison but this is a good thing. They are garnering the eyes of the MMA scene. Look at three of the four guys in the main and co-main event of this car. Daryntil, Luke Rockhold and Tony Ferguson.
Starting point is 00:40:15 MMA legends, or at least big names in MMA. Dillon Danes, not at this press conference. We'll be on this card. Welcome, Numero. Numero. Let's go. And we have Numero's opponent. I can't believe I'm saying. It's Joey Essex in the house.
Starting point is 00:40:33 Looking in incredible shape already. See, this is the thing. Essex does have a pretty big fan base in the UK. Listen, I don't understand Love Island. I've never watched the show. My girlfriend loves it. Apparently the UK loves it. Hell, even the U.S. now loves this show.
Starting point is 00:40:50 And the people that are on it have massive followings. I mean, the only thing I can compare it to is like reality TV in the early 2000s here in the U.S. with like Jersey Shore and, you know, whatever else, the real world. But this guy has got a big following. This is what you do. This is what influencer crossover boxing should be. You have MMA fighters grabbing that fan base. You have Numero, who's a big-time Portuguese influencer.
Starting point is 00:41:11 And then you have maybe not on the YouTube influencer side, but the reality TV show all on one card. Brilliant. Next up we've got Salt Pappy. Awesome. Really looking forward to this fight. Yeah, man, Salt Pappy. And UFC royalty interim lightweight champion of the world.
Starting point is 00:41:30 Elkakuwy Tony Ferguson in the house. It's a man right there. You know Dan Hardy is so pumped to see Tony. Listen, there's two. ways that this thing's going to go. Like there is a real opportunity for Salt Poppy to bury Tony Ferguson here and make a name off of him. But again, as bad as Tony has looked in the UFC, we really don't know what it looks like to him when he comes to boxing. I don't think it's going to be much different. Maybe it is, and maybe I'm the one being a hater. I'm not trying to say I don't believe
Starting point is 00:42:01 in Tony. It's just when you see something, reality has to set in and your eyes aren't lying to you when you watch Tony fight. But if Tony is able to turn back the clock, then good for him. And this is an opportunity for him to create a second life in his combat sports career, right? I mean, he is now, I think he's 40 or 41, but you've seen people leave the UFC and have good careers after it, right? You've seen that with Mike Perry, you see it with Darren Till, you see it with Ben Rothwell, you see it with some of these other guys that have flourished outside of the UFC, mostly in bare knuckle, but we'll see if Tony can do it in boxing. The main event, Luke Rockhold, Darren Till, welcome the both of the stage. Luke Rockold first. Luke Rockold. Oh my God, he's got the
Starting point is 00:42:44 on here. I know Darren Till is about to let off shots at this man. Who do I start with? Who do I start with? Tony Ferguson, that's what I'm starting with. Tony, talk to me about this process of getting off of the fight, a boxing match, accepting it and then finding out who the opponent is. I've always wanted a box, wasn't allowed to box. Pop said you're going to find a sport and he's going to take you into college because I'm not paying for that shit. So all jokes aside, I've been hitting speed bags since I was 15 and 1 in a box for a very long time. I grew up wrestling, wearing wrestling shoes, and now I fought for a long time, MMA without wrestling shoes, and everybody wanted to take me down. I've always been a multi-sport
Starting point is 00:43:23 athlete, and this is another way for me to be able to go out there and test my athleticism against another person who's game to be able to sign on the dotted line. So much appreciate on that one for me to be able to go out and earn this victory. And so, Papi, of course, KS. High's hype this. Talking love here in Tony Talk, dude. Sometimes the story gets convoluted and it goes to different places, but you could tell he's so dead serious and locked him when it comes to fighting. And it is a good point. Like he hasn't fought in shoes for forever. He'll be able to, you know, hide in shoes now in boxing.
Starting point is 00:43:51 But let's see how the actual skills translate. We've seen Tony for years, you know, practice in Win Chun and, yeah, even some boxing by itself and wrestling on the side. But let's see how specifically boxing, because listen, as much as Salt Poppy's a TikTok or an influencer, well, it's dangerous. And he's been training specifically boxing for, least the last six to seven years. Some rumor before that may be, but still, he's a dangerous dude.
Starting point is 00:44:16 I don't care what you've seen on TikTok or whatever is a real dangerous fight for Tony. And a massive opportunity for Salt Poppy. It must be a bit surreal for you. You must have sat and watched Tony Ferguson spinning elbows, taking people's heads off. What's it feel like to now be lined up to fighting? I mean, the first thing, I want to thank God. I want to thank the media, everyone that came to support. I want to thank Miss Fit Boxing Kassai for giving me this opportunity.
Starting point is 00:44:39 and also Tony for accepting the fight. This is a very opportunity for me to showcase my skills. And yeah, it's going to be a hell of a fight August 30th. Tune in. Tuning in. Yeah. Tune, yeah. Tune, August 30th.
Starting point is 00:44:53 All right, next up, Numero. Joey S. You didn't think that we were going to get a back and forth between Tony and Salt Poppy. I didn't expect that out of this press conference. It's more so just Tony being there. That's the surreal kind of like, holy shit factor of this. So that's about what I thought we'd get. Some respectful Salt Poppy and Tony just outlining what it is he's there to do.
Starting point is 00:45:13 Yeah, first of all, I want to thank everyone for being here, and I want to show huge respect for everyone that's going to step in the ring. I'm excited to fight Joey. I heard he has family in boxing. And I think you should take your glasses off and let us see your eyes. I'll take him off when I want to take him off, mate. Okay? Can you do it now?
Starting point is 00:45:33 Because if you're going to wear glasses for a couple of bruises, you might need a, like, a welding gown at a top of it. For the fight. Woo! Okay, first off, Numero, speak in English. We applaud that for the English fans, for the people that are watching misfits. And obviously, he's got his massive Portuguese fan base. But one of the things that was always tough about, like, you know, Wenderson Nunes, for example, is he didn't speak English.
Starting point is 00:45:58 So you couldn't get a lot of back and forth out of him. Numero speaks English. And he's telling Joey, take those stupid ass glasses off because if you're scared of a little bruises, that's why you're wearing the glasses now. You might need a welding helmet after I'm done with you. Woo! Let's see, but I'm very excited to fight, Joey, and I'm here to represent my country in Portugal. It seems like you're shitting yourself, man.
Starting point is 00:46:17 What? Yeah, bro, it's not my main language, you know? It's relaxed, boy. Yeah, I think you should relax. Because this is not Love Island, this is boxing. Hmm. I got my glasses and I'm chilling, bro. Like, what?
Starting point is 00:46:28 Oh, hold on a second. Oh, hold on a second. Now, granted, people wear sunglasses inside all the time in combat sports, but it looks like it's pretty clear that Joey Essex, It's got some bruising going on. I like the back and forth. I like it. That's okay.
Starting point is 00:46:43 That's okay, bro. Yeah. Hey, Joey, I was watching you backstage before you got changed. Okay, there we go. Let's see. You're feeling lively right now. Yeah, man, come on.
Starting point is 00:46:51 What's the feeling ahead of this? You said you feel like you've got inside his head already. You feel like you're going to be able to have his number. Oh, do you know what? I didn't realize it to take this quick for him to crack. Oh my God. He's gotten fucking tuned up a little bit. Now, again, you can look at this a couple of different ways.
Starting point is 00:47:07 He's committed. he's locked in and you know he's going through the rounds he's doing the hard sparring he's getting himself prepared but uh yeah those look fresh i mean that could be stuff from today to be honest with you because it's not it's not like black and blue yet but it's definitely his eyes are puffed out so take it how you want to receive it pause but joe essex is doing some hard sparring you can tell i'm excited and uh yeah this is we'll see what happens but yeah just let him keep talking what he wants saying it. Getting fire already.
Starting point is 00:47:39 All right, let's go to the main event. So, Luke, into boxing against Darren Till, someone that you're very familiar of as a mixed martial artist. Did you watch his four interboxing? Were you impressed with his hands? I've paid attention to the kid. He's done all right. Yes, dude.
Starting point is 00:47:57 Okay. Luke is already coming with that, like, little bro attitude toward Derrit Till. And Luke is known for kind of doing this, especially in his MMA day. he would ego a lot of guys. Like, hey, listen, this kid is not on my level. Da-da-da.
Starting point is 00:48:11 That's kind of how he approached fights until the second Bisming fight where things kind of changed and he did that to Bisming too. But I can just see it. The way he's like smirking and stuff, this is Luke's game. I love it.
Starting point is 00:48:23 He's always got his mouth open and his chin in there. You haven't? You haven't? Shut your fucking ass up and wait your turn, mate. Oh my God. He even added
Starting point is 00:48:36 the mate on the end. Okay, Luke been taking some trash talking, you know what I'm saying? Some trash talking lessons. Patty, little Patty, little bum Patty. Hey, Darren stepped away. He ran away from the game. And he, you got fat.
Starting point is 00:48:52 And now you've come to my game. Hey, my show. Me and cash I wear a couple. You fought a couple of small. You've come to get paid. You fought a couple bombs. You fought a couple bombs and you got a little confidence. But I'm going to, I'm going to bring you back down to Earth, mate.
Starting point is 00:49:04 No, you need to come back to the air. biggest ego in the ribs. You what I'm saying? This is what I'm talking about. Again, Darren came through MMA, like right after Luke had been a champion at 85 and had, you know, at one point looked unstoppable as a champion. People forget, man, Luke Krocco at one point was a monster at 185 pounds and really no one had the answer for him. Freaking one-arm guillotine to Bisbing at a certain point. And then, you know, after that, that short notice fight versus Bisbing where he was just, you know, I'm king shit. This guy don't even deserve to be in the octagon and Bisming knocked him out.
Starting point is 00:49:40 Things changed a little bit. But yes, this is what I was talking about. Luke's got a bit of a, you know, he's cocky, he's brash. There's nothing wrong with it. You know what I'm saying? He used to be able to back it up. Even still, you know, that Polo Costa fight, he was in there swinging. He goes and does bare knuckle against Mike Perry, which Darytill's calling a boom.
Starting point is 00:49:57 But that's a good read from Darren. This is like kind of how Luke operates. What are you on about me? We've just had this out upstairs. Hey, you can't chat to me because Perry's a bum. And you backed out like to fuck with him. How are you even shathing me right now? And you're talking with you, you're talking fat this.
Starting point is 00:50:12 You're just a vein. You're just about the muscles, mate. Luke, you know that? You're too prideful. I can fight. I can't. I'm going to fight every time. And you're already doubting yourself with me.
Starting point is 00:50:20 You're already doubt. I know what you're down. I know. You're studying every fucking move I make. Well, obviously we're fucking fucking. Everything, everything I do. You should be studying everything with me. You're asking every little question.
Starting point is 00:50:31 Are you messing? I know who you are. I can see who you are. You don't? You don't. You don't. weren't even in the UFC at the same turn. Are you on, are you, are you all right, mate?
Starting point is 00:50:37 Did you hear what Darren said to him? He said, I've already psychologically destroyed you. You're already doubting yourself. Very interesting. The mind games have already started between these two. Push to the limit. Your, your cat. I'll tell you what's going to beat you.
Starting point is 00:50:50 Have you seen that as you at the bow of head? You fucking go on. Keeps it up with that. With that were your chin, me. You're chinny. I'm chiny. I'm chiny. You've got your pride.
Starting point is 00:51:00 You've been taken out by 70 pounds. Luke's making a decent point about. Darren getting knocked out by Jorge Mazvedal, although Darren should not have been at 70 when he was doing that. It looked like a brutal weight cut. But Darren says, I'm going to take three things from you. Your pride, your ego, and your chin after this fight. This is nice back and forth.
Starting point is 00:51:17 But Darren calling Luke Rockhold Cheney, I mean, he got dropped by Bisbing, got dropped by Jan Blahovitch, obviously the Mike Perry, bare knuckle. I really look at that bare knuckle thing as it's completely different. There's no padding on those hands. I think anybody can get hurt and clipped and rocked in bare knuckle, which is what makes Mike Perry the king of the bare knuckle, right?
Starting point is 00:51:37 He was not technically, stylistically, a good boxer, stand-up fighter at the highest level of MMA. And obviously, when he came over to boxing, Jake Paul messed him up as well. But in bare-knuckle, you can even the playing field by being a little tougher and just having a chin. That's kind of how he beat Luke. Luke hit him with some big time stuff in that fight and he just walked through it all. Have you seen? Perry was a 155 and he did the king.
Starting point is 00:51:59 Perry didn't do nothing. Doug walked you and better mind, Perry's a boob. Perry's just a crab. We're talking about Barna. Like, boxing panel, what's the difference, mate? It's a big difference.
Starting point is 00:52:08 You should try. Mate again, Lou. Mate. What difference? You've been offered many times. When he was putting it on you, you were,
Starting point is 00:52:15 Hey, you've been offered many times you fucking tear on you legs, when he was putting it, you shit yourself, you backed out, and you've got a knack of doing that, you back out of fights. And it's because your pride,
Starting point is 00:52:24 your pride, and how much you love yourself? If you were a bar of chocolate, you'd eat yourself, mate? Are you joking? Hey, like, do you know, you're like Oscar Dale O'ahua,
Starting point is 00:52:32 wearing tight in the boxing rube in California you're up to all that crap I've got nothing else to do with but saying and you're on about you you're you seem to believe I'm not I'm not working for this man no I know you're putting the work in and I you will understand 45 like you're waking but your body's shutting down I'm 32 you're 32 going on fucking I six how how what because of have got a bit of belly on me you should what the fuck I got to do anything lifestyle that's a lifestyle lifestyle you're worried about how you do Darren it's so wound up holy shit he is wound the Either two things are happening. Darren is just fired up to beat Luke and he feels like again This is his moment. He is coming into his own and misfits or you know this is I mean he was he was fired up about the Tommy Fury fight and he kind of acted the same way
Starting point is 00:53:16 But the other side of it is you know I don't know maybe there is some apprehension about fighting Luke I'm not sure I tend to look at it and think Darren just fired the fuck up to go and beat up Luke Rockall I don't think it'll be that easy Especially from what I'm hearing listen Luke is training out here in orange county I'm actually going trying to get a training session with him in a couple of days you guys might see that video next week, I'm gonna see firsthand how good Luke looks right now and I already know what I get from Darren Till. I got to see it firsthand when I was on his card and I got to see it the next time out like Darren is transition to boxing very well Luke never a great boxer so there's gonna be a lot of ground to make up but his back and forth he said you're 32 going on 50s
Starting point is 00:53:52 there's like why well because I got a little fat on me that's a terrible scouser but I'm trying and you're plied and it's gonna get you here and if that's got you here I'm ready to fight man Well, I know you might be at this fight, but you're over here, like giving me all kinds of shit that I can't fight. I prompt, look, listen to what I'm saying. I am going to obliterate you on the tainted, and you know it. Upstairs, I've seen it, but yeah, you were confident when I walked in, and when I walked out, you were calling people from my home, like, fuck, I need to take it in. I'm calling people. Yeah?
Starting point is 00:54:20 I'm calling you. You're the one who's calling everybody trying to figure out everything you can to build your confidence up. I don't need to figure out. I'm going to put you down. You don't live this lifestyle. You're skateboarding in California. You're up of it about how you look. You keep building your confidence.
Starting point is 00:54:33 You're about the ladies. But then again, with the ladies, you're not even that good eye. Look what you're done to Emily Vartle. Like, she's off your fucking, do you know what I mean? Oh my God. Derrithill is going crazy. Derrithill is soul reading Luke Rockholder right now. He said, listen, you say, I don't live this lifestyle.
Starting point is 00:54:49 You're out there skateboarding in California, which I don't know that he's doing that. But he's trying to hit some, like, actual personal points. He's like, yeah, all you care about is how you look. You're calling people back home worried. And then Luke tells him, like, like oh yeah well you're trying to find out what i'm doing he's like damn right i am and i wouldn't doubt now i don't know anything but i wouldn't doubt that darren till would have some people he's close to that are training around or alongside luke rockold because hamzat chamayev is out here in orange
Starting point is 00:55:15 county training in the same gym as luke rockold is right now not to say that hamzat would be like telling or whatever but him and darren have a great relationship and they always have since darren went out and trained with hamzot he cornered hamzot in one of his fights just saying And Darren knows people and knows what's going on, probably because he's good friends with all the people that are training with Luke. Very interesting. And then, by the way, the most under the radar shot that was just thrown there, he was like, yeah, you're doing it for the ladies. Yeah, you're doing it for the ladies. And then he says, he says, well, maybe you don't have his greatest success with the ladies because we've seen what you did to Demi Levato.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Her right up. Luke, Luke, fight back. Luke. Luke, what? Hey, who? Hey, you run for your brother. What, you pick your ladies, man. You pick your ladies, man.
Starting point is 00:55:58 How's your lady in Brazil? My lady's fantastic, mate. I'll tell you. This is. That was a good one from Luke. There you go. He said, how's your lady in Brazil? There until, I don't know if they were ever like married, whatever.
Starting point is 00:56:13 Had a girlfriend in Brazil, had a daughter, I think, with this girl, and had her tattooed on his arm for the longest time. Oh, this is so good. And then a couple of years ago, he got a tattooed over. with a gorilla look he got a gorilla face tattooed over the girlfriend in Brazil and he just showed it to Luke
Starting point is 00:56:36 and said there she is say hi to her this is my press conference KSI was my daddy for the Tommy press conference weren't you KSai now I'm the fucking daddy three main events look at KSI because we're in partnership me KSai moms
Starting point is 00:56:51 what's up group let's get this fucking soft Luke over come on Well, calling KSI your daddy's crazy. I know he's talking about like, hey, KSI was the man when I first came in. Now KSI and I are in partnership, you know. I'm getting to that level to come out and be like KSI was my daddy. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:57:12 Darren's on a heater though, man. He's talking his shit. We'll give him $150,000 bear of mine. You know, we need the dollars back home and he'll be happy with it. Dave. That's it. That's all I'm not happy. I'll be happy with putting you face down and taking them.
Starting point is 00:57:23 What's next? Did you chase this fight? Did you ask for this fight or was this an offer of the team? I saw this fight. I wanted to box. Boxing is what I want to do. And obviously they offered me this bare-knuckle boxing match. And it's not what I wanted to do, not what I was interested in it.
Starting point is 00:57:35 But it was a nice paycheck. And it was a learning process. And, you know, this is what I want to do. I realized it was a dumb thing. But boxing is something I've done. Boxing that I've trained. I'm comfortable with. I've been in there a million times with some of the best guys in the world.
Starting point is 00:57:49 And Darren's about to find out. I can box. I had no other you know. You were a ghost. I was a young boy watching you sick you have see sick like you're over here giving me all kinds of shit that I can't fight I'm one of the best in the world I'm like I'm not look who I fought in the UFC like you're a great stiker but look at the strikers I've had a feeling like drink us even though he tapped me out he's just he's a bum on the feet he's a bum just like Perry so you're over here disruptive but I respect you as a fighter I never said hey I was a fan in strike force and I was a fan of
Starting point is 00:58:18 I see but you're coming in with this hockey confidence that I'm some kind of bum well because I've got belly on me me me what? I can fucking fight and that's all it is to me. Darren is fired the fuck up, man. This is like, I think this is Darren wanting not only to prove to Luke that he is on the same level or better as a striker as he says. I think this is Darren wanting to prove to Darren that he can take down, like he doesn't look at this as a boxing match versus Luke Rockhold.
Starting point is 00:58:42 He looks at this as a fight versus a former UFC champion because I think Darren in his mind still looks at himself as an MMA fighter, even though he's boxing right now. And any time he gets to challenge himself versus a, guy that held gold in a promotion that he didn't, this is a step up to him, right? Darren Stewart was not a step up, Anthony Taylor, not a step up. This to him is a step up because of Luke's accolades in the shared sport they had. This is why I think he's so fired up. Just like when Tommy and him were going to fight, it was a step up, right? It was, you know, Manchester versus Liverpool. It was a bit of
Starting point is 00:59:14 a rivalry. It was a name. It was those things. You see Darren fired up so much more here because he looks at Luke as a step up and someone to legitimize what he truly is where he couldn't grab gold in the UFC, he still thought of himself as one of the best in the world. Here's an opportunity, at least in his mind, to prove it. So there you go, yeah, silence. Thank you. I've said my peace. Right, I'm coming back to the main event.
Starting point is 00:59:36 Joey, what's the pressure going to be like on August 30th when you're walking out? First time walking out into an arena with the gloves laced up. I can't wait. Can you picture it? Yeah, of course, man. I can't wait. The big lights to be on. Just me to walk up to the ring and just round one.
Starting point is 00:59:50 It's just going to be game on. He's called it on like it's a war, but it's like... I would like to say it's going to be an easy night for him, because he's obviously had a fight before, but it was useless. But I hope you are training hard, and I hope you are, because I would... If I do knock you down, please get back up. Because I want to fight...
Starting point is 01:00:06 I saw a video of your sparring corner, man. I thought you were trying to look better on purpose, but then after a few more videos, I saw that it was real. You caught up, mate. Yeah. Even a laugh. Yeah. Obviously, man, Conner Ben, he's a professional.
Starting point is 01:00:17 Yeah, yeah, but you were raising your leg up like a little bitch, bro. That's no way to... bar right at least face your opponent he was playing with you it wasn't it was just playing with you you were like this of course bro is my black very good to you what are you trying to say that no I was trying to say that you're not prepared for this when you look at you know when I look at you all I think of is just like a baked
Starting point is 01:00:36 bean you're just a proper bean at it yeah or you look bro just like one big baked bean look at you bro you're sitting out here saying that you always wanted to fight your fucking 35 mate you know me he looks like a bean hey I'm sorry new marrow's cooking maybe I'm I I don't know, but he's cooking him. Like, okay, Joey's calling him a baked bean. I don't know what that means.
Starting point is 01:00:57 But he's just sticking it on him. Like you said you wanted a fight, you're 35. If you wanted a fight, you would have fought. And Joey's like, yo, you better get up if I knock you down. You're like, bro, you ain't even fought yet. I hope you're preparing because when I saw you spar, it didn't look like you wanted any part of a fight. Kind of sticking it on him.
Starting point is 01:01:12 Darren, you're liking the fact there's some other beef on the stage. Yeah, if you're fucking on put up, like, what the fuck are we doing here? I ain't brain. Luke's not saying shit. I might have to start on to be for other people. You were calling people out. Like, you were on social media, you were asking for people naming them.
Starting point is 01:01:27 No one was taking it, right? When did Luke become an option? Well, Nate, Nate, do you have that fucking plum over there to say that asked me to fight? It was a night beater cross hard on the aisle. And I just come back home. I was like, yeah,
Starting point is 01:01:40 and then he said he doesn't want to fight because he's an absolute stuff in it. And then obviously, Luke took... Dude, just the entire sentence, Darren Till just said, I want to see if I understood him correctly. He said, Nate Diaz wanted to fight me
Starting point is 01:01:52 I was out in Abitha I guess that's Abiza and he said I was Crossside off the ale Just the phrases are insane And that's when he wanted to fight me Because he's a complete stuffhead or stuffing head I don't know what the hell these expressions are
Starting point is 01:02:06 Where they come from in the UK But some of them Especially Darren He's not using the typical like sausage Melt Muppet Like he's using some different ones Man this is awesome
Starting point is 01:02:16 The fight But now Luke's question himself If he should have to talk it Because I want smoke with you mate You can do whatever you want you could go back to a busy and don't forget don't forget we shed upstairs because I've got something for you Father we need that involved. Okay, I say please Any time you want man you know but you said to me before I don't take any more and I've never took any what is it What is it?
Starting point is 01:02:35 You said to me upstairs I don't take it anymore Then you said I've never took it Tell me what you're on I said I think I've Okay so there we got we got a few fucking Oh no Oh no Get the Vada test the No, come on.
Starting point is 01:02:51 He's on suicide. Have you taken BPC 157? No, I haven't. I think everybody in this fucking room is taking it. Well, I'm the only stupid. Oh, Luke. Oh, my God. He got caught.
Starting point is 01:03:03 All right, so let me just break this down really quick. Darren Till is telling us that Luke essentially admitted to taking steroids when they were in some holding room before the press conference. And he kind of fumbled over it by being like, well, I don't take it anymore. Well, no, no, I never took it. And then Luke responded by saying, I took it. BPC 157. BPC 157 is not a steroid by the classical term of what a steroid and anabolic is but BPC 157 I'll show you guys here is a banned substance and on
Starting point is 01:03:33 the prohibited list or WADA and USADA and I would assume that means also for Vada now what BPC 157 is is an experimental peptide so it's not necessarily a steroid but peptides are all the rage in recovery and BPC 157 is used to help and aid in recovery of tendon muscle damage, things like that. I mean, you've probably heard it on Joe Rogan's podcast. You probably heard a ton of people talk about it. And I'm going to be honest, Luke is probably not the only guy that's ever taken BPC 157. But that doesn't mean that he's currently on it. He just did a really bad job of explaining when he was put on the spy here by Darren Till what it was he was talking about and why he even brought that up to Darren in the first
Starting point is 01:04:16 place, I don't understand because now, regardless of what Luke says, he's going to be looked at, especially by Darren as a cheater, a BED user. The fat cuntuns, obviously, he's not taking it. So maybe I should, Lee, get me some fucking juice steroids. It's not juice, you dumb fuck. I know because I wouldn't know what it is, but you're on it. I'm not on nothing. I look this way my whole fucking life, mate.
Starting point is 01:04:38 No, you haven't. He keeps doing the main thing. The funniest thing is like Luke is just saying it as if it's like the only way Darren will understand the sentence before he speaks. Like Luke thinks that Darren probably can only understand him in his mind if he says, mate after his sentence. That's what kills me. No accent.
Starting point is 01:04:54 He's like, dude, I've looked like this my whole life, mate. He just keeps doing it. Ever now than you fucking look at the fucking 80? Are you joking? Look at living life like you. I've just walked in the room and seen you with your top off. And I said to them, I might pull out of this fight. He's looking that good.
Starting point is 01:05:08 Yeah, well, he's saying. Go on something at 46. You're on stuff. I'm not, I'm not coming here. I'm not coming here to fight. and just to show up to Patriot, I'm coming here to put a stamp on what I'm doing and adding to what I'm doing. I'm like, I'm excited to box. There's been holes in my game in boxing.
Starting point is 01:05:23 Now, it's time to close those holes. And it's time to put you down and time to put you back in line and teach you a lesson. This sounds like a line from a background of a band of a band. You know, I'm going to thank you in that day. Oh, my God. It does sound like, Darren said it sounded like a line from an American movie. I'm going to put you down. It does.
Starting point is 01:05:41 I think sometimes Luke speaks in action movie sequences, dude. action movie monologue, Luke. He kills me, man. You're not putting me down if it comes chin to chin. You can't stop me. I can stop you, don't you're chinny? Hey, you're in Stuart, put you down. Are you most?
Starting point is 01:05:56 Put me down. It was just close. Give me an assessment of his first boxing match. I mean, Dan, he has not changed. He's good if you give him space. No doubt. His chin's always up in there. He comes up high.
Starting point is 01:06:07 Every chance. Luke. You have no idea how... No one's seen me box. You've never seen me box. You can only judge me from what you've seen. Which is not boxing. I can't you from MMA and you haven't been working on the logistics and boxing.
Starting point is 01:06:18 You'd think I'm not working on logistics. You've been planning around on the street girls. And obviously that. And you know. I'm obviously not doing nothing. Well, you'd either do it. But boxing.
Starting point is 01:06:27 Every day. Every day. Every day. You're going to see it. So the guys in the gym didn't text me on instance to say you'd missing the track. You're only doing three last. See, why are you doing so much homework? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:06:39 Did you, so the guys in the gym are texting me telling me that you're missing track days, which is the conditioning day. So again, I'm not going to say it's just Hamzat or whoever is, because Darren probably knows a ton of the guys over there. I mean, Rampage is over there, Armand's over there. I'm sure that there's mutual friends in that group, whether it's Hamzot's team, whoever, that Darren knows. And he said they're texting him telling him what Luke's doing.
Starting point is 01:07:04 He's not even asking for it. That's crazy. Well, obviously, you are so on my ass. I'm fighting the former. I'm fighting the UFC World Champion. Off my balls. Why didn't do studying about you? I'd be a fucking idiot.
Starting point is 01:07:15 Everyone in here agrees with that. I have to study you. I need to know everything about you. So what are you expecting from it? As a fighter, what are you expecting from him? Give me a technical break down. M&A side of things. There was a time where I was in my primary.
Starting point is 01:07:28 He was. Luke was a fucking Strike Force World Champion, UFC champion. But this is boxing, and Luke hasn't really been doing boxing. He's just been fanning around in the gym. I know he has, because I've been studying him. Because he's, you know, he's still... On the balls, mate.
Starting point is 01:07:42 So have you got spies in your camp, then? You're not in the boys looking like that though, when you do what you've died of your hair, isn't it? Have you gone to be that? You're coming off zesty and now. Stop all that tall. Look at all that's sexy talk. Have you got to spy in your camp then, Lou? Stop that zesty talk right now, not into that.
Starting point is 01:07:57 Who's reporting on you in your camp, Luke? Who's letting him know what's going on? He's working every angle he can, but I haven't been training with the boys in a while. I'm in a boxing gym. I'm in Churchill boxing. I'm with Connor Ben's coach, and I'm working every day diligently on my mechanics of boxing, and I'm boxing some of the best professional boxes around.
Starting point is 01:08:15 Probably doesn't help Luke the fact that he just said he's with Connor Ben's coach and the whole PED thing. Listen, I love Connor. But that, it's not an indictment, but it definitely doesn't look good when you turn around and say, I'm not taken, but I did maybe at some point, and now I'm with Connor Ben's boxing. But he said, okay, he says Churchill boxing.
Starting point is 01:08:34 I didn't know that Luke was at Churchill boxing. I heard that he's at the Jackson Gym, which is a different gym, a little closer to me, but Churchill's a great gym as well. and you know, Conor Ben's coach, I'm not exactly sure which coach he's referring to, but regardless, good gym, good coach, good environment for Luke. And I'm really am excited to see what he looks like. Genuinely, I want to see how Luke looks just boxing,
Starting point is 01:08:58 because he's got a good left hand. He's a freak athlete. It's just that we haven't seen him look technically sound as a boxer, really ever, right? Just in the boxing realm. He's been caught with lead hand hooks from the Orthodox position, and I don't know if that'll be the same kind of downfall when he fights Darren because Darren's a Southpaw, but still, overhand, lefts, lead hooks, stuff like that,
Starting point is 01:09:19 where Luke does kind of keep his chin in the air and kind of comes straight back with it. Those things have been a problem of his, which he's admitting now, so I think that's good. Big boys, I know you're not. And I'm putting them on and I'm putting them down. I know you do. And you're going to, hey. Because I've been studying you, have you just said. So if I was not.
Starting point is 01:09:35 No, I don't release. I don't release what I do right now. No, Dave, no, you don't have to. Hey, you're going to be my release and everything to me. and you've been missing track days. I am. All right. Let's get some questions from the media.
Starting point is 01:09:46 Hey, he's like, yo, your whole team is telling on you. That's crazy. If I'm Luke, I'm cutting some people out of camp. I'm not going to lie. They're letting not only Darren still know what I'm doing, what I'm not doing, but if they're showing them videos,
Starting point is 01:09:57 oh, no, bro. You got it. You got to cut ties with some of these people. Every day. I'm fucking, I know that means I'm on pies. I'm fucking sparring. And I'm going to fucking kill you. That's what I'm chitty.
Starting point is 01:10:07 You're not letting you. I'm chilly. All right, guys. All right, guys. Let's get into the questions from the media. I believe we've got some questions down to front here. You go far away. Beal from this, Fox. And what a press comment, I must say,
Starting point is 01:10:19 Stop Papi. Three years ago, you were fighting Halalhan. Now you're stepping into the ring with Tony Ferguson. Talk to me about that journey and how you got here. That's been wild to think that all Bobby three years ago is fighting a law ham. Baron, Luke's called you soft. He's called you fat.
Starting point is 01:10:34 He's called you every expletive under the sun today down here. But would you actually think of, Luke as a fighter he's called to Cheney no this is the thing I come at realness Luke's just saying a load of mumble jumble like you know this is where I mean this what's get Luke in a trouble is I actually think Luke could have been a goat like truly but what gets Luke in trouble is his ego his pride how vain is and all that stuff and when you put them together as a collective psychologically he fails at it you know what I'm saying and he knows that's the truth sitting there now like what he done with bishops he would
Starting point is 01:11:08 this fucking smash Bing, Bisping that night. Well, to be on, Miss Bing come in, and no one was taken him that night. But he'd come in, Lali Dar, because of his pride and his ego. He felt like Bisping shouldn't have been in there with him, and he got starch because of it. And that's what happens with it, because ego is too much. You can't have an ego like this in this game. I have to admit, Darren... Gee.
Starting point is 01:11:26 Turn to just soul-read that man. And he's kind of right. At least if you go through Luke Rockhold's kind of downfall in MMA, he's kind of directly on point with what he's saying. Like, every point he just missed. made is like true. Complete fact. If Luke is still like that and he's come into this press conference,
Starting point is 01:11:44 a little cocky list and the kids done well, he's okay, but he hasn't fought anybody. You know, that kind of thing, it could get him into trouble again. He's a lot smarter than he looks sometimes, but thank you. This is where this is,
Starting point is 01:11:54 hey, you're after feel for everyone. This is where you correct those wrongs. The boxing has been my weakest avenue. You're not going to cover the holes. You're, unfortunately, are going to be my play.
Starting point is 01:12:06 Well, I don't think I'm because you're all very ashamed. Like I'm a big fat cons and stuff like that. You're going to mean my play. I think he meant to say pray. But, I mean, at least Luke, Luke admits it, you know, that he's like, yeah, yeah, I've had some holes and taken some people lightly,
Starting point is 01:12:17 and we're going to fix that now. Fair. I mean, Luke, of my life, I swear. It's not a matter of the case. Hey, you guys were bitching about weight. What was this about 185? You look like you're 240 right now. And then you wouldn't go above 188.
Starting point is 01:12:30 We're sitting here on 188 for two. 87.5. And then we settle with 193. No. Why are you, why are you bitching so hard about weight? Why are we playing this game? What you mean, bitching after my life? fight I said to misfits I'll fight for all the fights now at 87.5 because my last
Starting point is 01:12:43 one was at 91 so if I was bitching about weight like obviously I'm fighting at 91 like why would I be asked about I'm going lower for the reason what is what is why can we just settle on it on us on a regular way where you want to settle on 188 what is this one 93 why we're now we're 183 because because my friend way to come from right friend it's not the issue we're in the clan we're in the circus we could do whatever the fuck we want this is the circus my friend like Luke gets a grips with this this is a You know, this is the fucking circus.
Starting point is 01:13:12 When we've got Jake Paul calling Anthony Joshua out, we need to have look at how it's going. So embrace the circus, Luke. We'll do any weight. I'm embracing it. Facts, dude. That's the stone cold truth. Darren is dropping some truth bombs in this press conference. It is.
Starting point is 01:13:26 Boxing, influencer boxing, even MMA at times, is a bit of the circus. And for whatever reason, there are times where we want to rise above it. Now, again, there's a place in time for everything. and there's going too far into the circus, right? And I've had my complaints about that as well. But in the time we're in, where Jake Paul is calling out Anthony Joshua and is probably going to get that fight. Is there really anything wrong with having fights at a specific weight?
Starting point is 01:13:50 No. Catch weight fights for stuff like misfits actually kind of works perfectly because you're not beheld in by a weight division. No one cares if you're fighting at 175 or 200 or 168 or 16. We don't care. Just find a weight that both of you like and just go do it. Because the fight is what we care about. Your weight going into it.
Starting point is 01:14:08 what we could give a shit about. Tony, you and Dylan Dennis are both on this card. If you guys both win your fights, is that a potential fight we'll see down the line? Fred Talks Fighting. Great question. This is the perfect setup for a Tony, Dylan Dennis fight, if they both win.
Starting point is 01:14:21 Money talks, bullshit walks. So I'm in, being real, I'm here to box. So this is the fight that I'm interested in. It's all poppy. This dude said he's going to knock me out. And then now he does want to say it. As soon as you get somebody in front of you, it's a little bit harder to take something.
Starting point is 01:14:34 So that pissed me off. And so I know where my energy is going to go into this camp. So that goes with anybody fucking talking shit against me. Ooh, okay. Tony get a little spiteful there. I like it. The question was, would Tony fight Dylan Dennis? And he said bullshit talks and money.
Starting point is 01:14:51 I don't know what he said. But then he kind of turned the question on Salt Poppy. I didn't know that Salt was saying he was going to knock him out, but I like it. Take something from it. And listen, a lot of people, myself included, think that Tony could be in real trouble here. I'm not afraid to say that. I think that it's a problem fighting Salt Poppy and your first one coming over. But maybe Tony proves us all wrong.
Starting point is 01:15:08 And I know he feeds on that kind of stuff because he always has during his career. I respect it. Feed off it. I use it. I hope that it gives him some, you know, advantage in some way or it brings back a bit of that fire that Tony may have lost in the UFC. Whatever it is, but I like that. First off, before we do the face-offs, I want to say, great press conference.
Starting point is 01:15:26 Way to hype this up. The guys feel energized. The moment feels like it's right. And I just think it's a great card. That's point-blank period. I thought Daryntil owned that press conference. I thought Luke Rockold had his moments, but I mean, Darren was just on fire today. I thought Tony Ferguson came across, remotivated, reinvigorated.
Starting point is 01:15:45 I think Salt Poppy is, he's never going to be a guy that talks too much, but he's confident. And then I like this little rivalry that's brewing between Numero and Joey Essex. They are influencers that get it. I think Numero is doing a little bit more of the selling. I think Joey Essex has got a little bit more, you know, to him is like, oh, no, I'm about to come in and smash you up. So let's take a look at their face off first. Namiro returns to the ring Joey Essex making his eagerly anticipated debut. Yeah, what are you heard?
Starting point is 01:16:10 Got him. Got him. Shut up. Shut up. Like a good boy. Very tense. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We're gonna see a good fight.
Starting point is 01:16:19 You're shaking already, mate. What's up with you? You're shaking, bro. You're swinging from the floor. Is that the fucking steroids? Yeah, of Tony Sims. Let's do a bond from the box and family. Yeah, let's go.
Starting point is 01:16:29 Yeah, go. Yeah, we're not built for this, bro. You're not built for this, bro. We'll see. I'm fighting night, bro. We'll see. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:39 Okay, okay. Okay. You'll see. Yeah, shut up. You see. I like it, man. I like it. So, Numero told him he was already shaking.
Starting point is 01:16:50 This one right here, keep an eye on it. Good face off. I know that Charlie is hosting this thing, but they got to lay out when they're doing the face off because the boys are talking. You can't be talking while the fighters are talking. There's too much talking. Being cool, calm and collected.
Starting point is 01:17:02 He always will be. I find it mad, Charlie. This geyser was uploading TikToks doing the running man does. Now he face off against Tony Ferguson. Tony said he's throwing sand already. Bobby's like, nah, I do the salt. I'll leave the sand to you. Ha ha! Legend. Boxing gloves now so we won't be able to do it.
Starting point is 01:17:19 But when he threw sand, in the Justin Keatsy fight, he grabbed it off the floor and threw sand. Oh my god. The memories, man. Like he said on stage, this is what dreams are made of, you know. Salt Pappy is a very good boxing. I really thought he had had some amateur background or box when he was younger something little something he's adapted to it like a duck with water well there we are
Starting point is 01:17:43 what a fight we have for you so exciting to see Tony Ferguson on misfits against salt pappy now to Dan with the next face off the face off good face off here we go main event face off well here we go Luke fakes a take down oh Jesus they go chest to chest right away I'm messing about straight to straight to it. I think kind of after the press conference there, we expected that. Oh my God, Luke's kind of bullying him a little bit. Now, again, I don't know if this is like any indication. Luke just straight. I mean, this is just a strength test, right? They're boxing. They're not going to grapple. Immediately both guys start grappling and getting collar ties,
Starting point is 01:18:23 but Luke just walks through him here. The main event, I was expecting that. I'm missing about straight. Granted, Darren does have one of the security guards pulling back as well. I think kind of after the Press-Col tie. We expected that. Darynton. Collar tie. Head-butting, Luke Rockhold there. They're trying to grapple the next thing called.
Starting point is 01:18:45 They want to give it to each other, but when all said and done it, at the end of this, these two personalities look like they could gel very well. That's so good, yeah. And that's why we're going to see a massive fight in with these two, because they both want to win that back. Stiles make fights and I think this one will be an absolute bang. Daryntil often getting in people's head. I must say, Luke does look cool, calm and collected, Charlie. Yeah, he does, and he has looked at it since I've laid eyes. He looks confident.
Starting point is 01:19:11 He looks right. Yeah, bro. And it's good to see Darren Till always getting under this. This is good. They're both professionals. They're not going to swing on each other. There's just a bit of a, you know, I don't know what you call this. A macho off between the two of them right there, right?
Starting point is 01:19:27 Again, this mostly happens in grappling in MMA. They want to get hands on each other. It's going to sound super pauseworthy. but just stay with me. How are you feeling right now? You're a little soft, like what's going on? Let me feel how strong you are. Like this type of push-pull stuff happens.
Starting point is 01:19:42 And like I said, they're both professionals. They're not going to fight right there, but it just gives a sense of realism. It gives a sense of energy, a fight feel, a big fight feel. This is just the beginning to the buildup for August 30th. A.O Arena, I don't think this first presser
Starting point is 01:19:58 could have gone any better. Darren Till, hold in court. Dan Hardy, a maestro up there just zinging questions left and right controlling the pace of it kSI they're promoting all the big names involved the energy is back Dylan danis hasn't even touched down yet this one right here folks is going to be special tune in august 30th i will be there doing some commentary potentially some other things as well we don't even have the full card yet there's going to be more fights and now stay tuned but my question out of here is we finally in this video is
Starting point is 01:20:29 what do you make of this first press conference who is in whose head is Darren's Hill already soul-reading Luke Rockhold. Is Tony Ferguson going to prove everybody wrong? The 110% of people that are doubting him doing Tony math. Or assault poppy going to take the next step in his misfits journey. Do we have Numero as a brand new name in this scene coming in and talking his crazy shit to Joey Essex? Or is Joey Essex going to take Tony Sims' advice
Starting point is 01:20:54 and lock in and take this fight seriously and build his own journey and misfits? I don't have any answers yet, but we're just a month away from the card, Coverage is coming soon. Like I said, I'm going to try to get out and train and do some stuff with Luke Rockhold, so stay tuned for that. But August 30th, A-O Arena, Misfits 22, Ring of Thrones, is the date, is the time, is the place that all these questions will have answers. What happens then? I guess we'll find out. Hey, guys, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick, and guess what?
