So, best show of the week live in L.A. This is The Hurd. Wherever you may be and however
you may be listening, we're on IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1, our four picks this
next hour, one hour from now. My pick of the year and
the NFL in one hour.
My pick of the year.
Everybody from Will Blackman,
Kevin Clark's going to stop by. He's just an absolute
riot for the
Ringer NFL writer.
Rich Ornberger come on the show. Former Patriot
comes on the show today, and Joy Taylor is
joining me. This will be my favorite show of the week.
We kind of preview, we don't preview
games a lot on this show. No. We're kind of
talking about all four games today, and
a lot of different information coming in. The Browns may hire a coach
in the next several hours. That's
happening as well. Joy, how are you? I'm great. I'm very excited for this weekend.
Yeah, so let's talk. Okay, let me just talk about Jimmy Garoppolo, Jimmy GQ. Okay, so this weekend,
I think they're as good as anybody in the NFC. I think they're going to win the NFC.
I think San Francisco is going to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl against Kansas City or Baltimore,
and we'll get to those picks in one hour. But I think they're really, really good.
I did like them slightly over New Orleans. Now the Saints are gone, thanks to the Vikings,
who I think the Niners will beat. Jimmy Garapolo, now there are witnesses to this. I said for
years when Garoppolo was backing up Tom Brady. I said, go get him. What do you need to see?
And then with only 12 touchdown passes and only seven starts in his career, he got a massive
contract. It was 137 million and everybody freaked out and we say, well, we said he earned it.
Well, what do you mean he earned it? Well, let me ask you. He's a young man, right? He shows some elite
skills, right? There's something called seed money. Do you know what seed money is?
Seed money is when a bunch of young tech people, 16 years old, 18, 20, 21, 22, they've got an
idea and they start a business, a tech company, but they don't have any capital. And so they go to rich
people and they ask for seed money, seed money to make their company grow. And they ask for a million
dollars, two, four, six, eight million dollars. I've been in one of these. I've been in one of these
meetings one time. Where do they go to college? What's their plan? Are they good communicators?
Because you really don't know. You have no idea if the company's going to work because they don't
really have much of a company. And so you have to judge them on, well, the good communicators,
what's their temperament? Do they have some elite schools? Where do they go to college? What are
they providing the market doesn't have? And then big rich dudes, not me, write them big fat checks.
and they have earned that money.
They have earned it through communication and an idea and verbal skills in their presentation.
And where did they go to school?
Well, Jimmy Garapolo, like a kid looking for seed money, had gone to the University of Bill Belichick and was 5 and O.
And then he got his master's at UC Kyle Shanahan and was 2 and 0.
So he'd never lost a start.
I think I'm reversed on that.
I think he was 2 and 0 with the Patriots, 5 and 0 at the UC Kyle Shanahan.
and you seven and no.
He was a good communicator, good-looking guy who played with a ton of confidence.
He had zip on the ball.
And like the kids, starting a tech company, you really didn't know, but you kind of did know that's why you write the check.
He absolutely earned it.
Folks, we give $12 to $15 million a year to quarterbacks who haven't taken a snap in the NFL.
Baker Mayfield's made a boatload of money.
Can he even play?
So you're going to give first round picks 30% bust.
You're going to give them tens of millions of dollars.
But Jimmy Garoppolo and seven starts had never lost a game.
The look, the athleticism, the presentation, the communication skills.
He was good when the camera was on.
He was good when the pressure was on.
And you're going to struggle giving him money?
He had earned that money.
And now, like when you give seed money to tech companies and they hit,
It's stealing.
Because you only have to give a half million and now it's worth $250 million.
And Garoppolo now is stealing money.
He only makes $26 million a year.
That is a steal for a number one-seated quarterback in the NFC who's going to play at home
and give you two home playoff games.
You'll make half his salary in two home playoff games at the gate.
You know how much money an NFL team makes for a playoff game at home in San Francisco
what they charge in Silicon Valley up there in Santa Clara for tickets,
they'll make half his contract these two home games.
So we're always caught up in, oh my God,
is he worth it, is he earned it?
Young kids who have tiny little companies,
who went to great schools,
who are verbal, who have an idea,
who present it to super rich guys,
get checks every single day in this country.
75% of them, those companies,
dry up, never make a dollar.
Jimmy Garoppolo has been Uber.
He's been Facebook.
Are you kidding me?
A number one seed home games favored in the NFC.
The Niners will win this weekend.
He has been worth, as we predicted, every single penny.
And darn right, he earned it.
So I want you to think about this.
There are this weekend, when you're watching the games, we all talk about
quarterbacks.
But five of the eight playoff games,
teams this weekend have great, impactful rookie wide receivers.
I mean, they walk out of college.
They walk into the NFL, boom, impact.
D.K. Metcalfe for Seattle.
How about Debo Samuel?
San Francisco's a kid.
A.J. Brown at Tennessee.
Hollywood Brown with Baltimore.
Stefan Diggs, Adam Thielen, Young.
D. Hop, Will Fuller, Houston.
Devonte Adams, Green Bay.
These are kids.
They're not that far to college.
All sorts.
All these teams have just special.
special guys, and yet New England can't find one.
One single, wide receiver in a decade.
Nikiel Harry this year had 154 yards.
That's weird, right?
That's a weird blind spot for the best coach in the history of football.
And I have been critical of Bill Belichick,
but as you watch the great receivers this weekend,
Kansas City's got one as well.
Two, Tyree Kill and Hardman.
When you watch this weekend and you see all these dynamic receivers,
why is it that the dynasty, the smartest football coach of our lives,
they haven't gotten one right in a decade?
So let's look at the NFL teams.
I always blame Belichick on this.
Is it Brady?
Let's look at the NFL teams.
The four to five that we think always tend to draft wide receivers
and develop them really quickly.
Pittsburgh, Seattle, Green Bay,
Kansas City and Houston.
What do they all have in common?
Big Ben, Russell, Wilson, Pat Mahomes, Deshawn Watson, Aaron Rogers.
Oh, light bulb.
Quarterbacks that extend plays with their legs,
allowing wide receivers more flexibility in their patterns.
A receiver now has four to five seconds to get open,
not 1.8 or 2.4.
We blame Belichick for all this receiver stuff.
but quarterbacks that extend plays are the franchises where all the receivers seem to work.
Isn't that funny?
Maybe it's not Belichick, maybe it's Brady, which is why I've said this is a perfect time for Tom to retire.
Bucky Brooks wrote an article yesterday saying Patriots should let Tom Brady walk.
In it, he points to a very intriguing stat.
not only is Brady incapable of attacking the entire field as a passer,
but on throws, what they call out wide throws, outside, big throws, speed receivers.
He's 32nd of 32nd of 32 qualified candidates.
Folks, Nikiel Harry is not a bust.
He can play.
He is not a bust.
But receivers are the most NBA-like athletes.
They're tall, they're fast, they're vertical, they're special.
They break the huddle by themselves.
They're ISOACs.
And in Tom's rigid, tiny system, you're asking an NBA player to not jump high, not run fast, get open quickly, catch the ball in a system.
There is no excuse.
The dynasty's dying because they can't elevate an increasingly important position, wide receiver.
And Tom can't do it.
And I love Tom.
It's time to wrap a ball on it.
Josh McDaniels probably getting that Cleveland job, losing all sorts of coaches.
It's funny.
When you watch the playoffs this weekend, watch how many great young receivers that walk into this league and make massive impacts.
They all have one thing in common.
They play with a ad-libbing quarterback, a quarterback that can extend plays,
give a receiver more opportunities to get open,
let the most NBA position in the NFL,
be vertical, be fast, be creative, be expressive.
That is just no longer possible with TB12.
And you know I love him.
Next hour, 45 minutes from now, my divisional round picks coming up next.
It looks like the Browns have a new coach.
A lot of indicators.
It's going to be a flight.
with a lot of turbulence.
Doesn't mean it's going to crash,
but the flight is going to have some turbulence
that's coming up.

became one of Twitch's most popular streamers. We also love sports. And with the World Cup right
around the corner, we'll be breaking down the biggest storylines ahead of the big tournament here
in the USA. Listen to the 1021 podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your

show for us. We can't wait for the games. Also Monday night, LSU Clemson, which is going to be one of
the great college football games. We told Ohio State Clemson may be the best college football game in
five, ten years it was. I think LSU Clemson is going to be equally nuts, 42-40, that kind of game.
So I want to say this. We're talking a lot about the hiring practices. It looks like Josh McDaniels is the leader
in the clubhouse to get the Cleveland job. It'll be combustible. I'll say that between Baker's
personality, Jimmy Haslop's personality, and Josh McDaniel's personality. That's a lot of combustible.
I think it's better than Freddie Kitchens, but there's a lot of stuff about Josh McDaniel that's very Lane Kiffin.
IQ way up here, EQ a little lower, it's combustible, fist fights in the film room, whatever.
So we'll get to that later in the show because it could happen by the end of the show.
But there's a lot of talk about some of the NFL's hiring retreads and this retread stuff.
You got to remember, any job that's high compensation and high pressure has big turnover.
In America, the turnover rate for the average American job is 3.5%.
In tech, it's 13.
For CEOs last year, it was 17.5%.
A lot of pressure.
For NFL coaches, it's over 20%.
This was a year where they only fired what, five guys, Jacksonville kept theirs, Atlanta
kept theirs.
In most years, you're replaced.
seven coaches. This year, two survived the cut. Dan Quinn was going to get fired by week nine.
They got hot in Atlanta. And Doug Marone survived mostly because Tom Coughlin took all the heat.
And so they're bringing them back. But those guys were literally, that decision was made in a room over a bourbon rocks.
And somebody said, let's keep both those guys. Five guys are out. So remember, retreads are the ones winning the Super Bowl.
Belichette got fired. Pete Carroll twice.
of the last 23 Super Bowls, 15 have been won by retreads,
Gary Kubiak, Mike Shanahan, Tom Coughlin, Dick Vermeal, Belichick,
Dungey, Pete Carroll, and John Gruden wasn't fired, but he was traded to Tampa.
In a high compensation job with high expectations, with an absurd turnover rate,
you're going to give people second chances.
CEOs get second chances.
head coaches get second chances.
I've never been somebody bothered by people getting fired.
Oprah got fired.
She's sort of my idol in this business.
Howard Stern got fired.
Jerry Seinfeld got fired.
Mark Cuban got fired.
J.K. Rowling got fired.
Walt Disney got fired.
Folks, talented people are outspoken.
Outspoken people see the world differently.
And they're not willing to have lesser talented people above them pushing down.
Walt Disney's like, I'm out.
Mark Cuban, I'm out. Howard Stern, I'm out. Jerry Seinfeld, Oprah, I'm out. I'm out. J.K. Rowling, I'm out. Walt Disney. I'm out.
So when you're fighting, the fire doesn't bother me. Firing usually means you have a strong point of view.
You're kind of willful and aspirational and you hit a ceiling or a boss that didn't get you.
I'm not saying some, Jim Schwartz, I wouldn't hire again. There's nothing against him. He went to Georgetown, smart guy.
It's not a guy I'd give a second chance to. Steve Wilks in Arizona.
Arizona got one year. I'd give him a second chance. All my sources think Steve Wilkes,
who was the Browns defensive coordinator last year, they like him. They like him a lot.
Maybe a little over his skis. Cliff Kingsbury bombs, probably not going to give him a second one.
He's a college guy without a winning record there. But you wouldn't hire Mike Tomlin at the Rooney's
moved off him? Really? You wouldn't hire Mike Tomlin? You know that a year and a half ago,
John Harbaugh was in trouble until Lamar J.
Jackson happened. You wouldn't
you wouldn't hire
John Harbaugh? By the way,
Andy Reed
got fired.
You don't think Kansas City should have hired him?
We're making too much
as Mike McCarthy gets the job
in Dallas. Mike McCarthy
got to a Super Bowl in one. He got winning his
division. By the way, Green Bay
never bought great
defensive players. He
mostly did it with average to below
average defenses.
It's okay.
It's okay to get fired.
And in high compensation jobs,
tech CEOs, football
coaches, just because you get fired
doesn't mean you can't improve
and you can't get second opportunities.
Joy with the news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Well, Aaron Rogers has plenty of postseason experience,
but a majority of his teammates do not.
31 of the 52 players in the Packers roster have never played in a playoff game.
Wow, that's an interesting number.
It's high, right?
It's a young team of the young coach.
Yep.
And Rogers offered his best piece of advice on how to be successful in the postseason.
Boys, I think it's important to find that calm in your mind in these games because
it seems so much bigger.
Obviously, it's more important because it's when or go home, which the first 16 in the season
are like that.
but great opportunity to learn how to keep your boys and stay calm
and to find that relaxed flow state in the game.
I think the team that does it quicker and sustains it is usually a team that wins.
You know, it's really interesting, isn't it?
By the way, you know, it's funny, Bucky Brooks said this yesterday.
San Francisco's got a bunch of young kids.
They have not, they're the number one seat at home.
The pressure's all on Green Bay and San Francisco this weekend.
So I didn't know Green Bay was that young.
Yeah, it's a lot of play.
It's 31 at 52.
But he's right, though.
I think, you know, in any situation where you're doing the same thing that you're always doing,
but the stakes are heightened, kind of keeping the same temperament than she would if it wasn't a heightened situation makes sense.
Like, that's what he's describing.
Boy, it's like, when you go into a game knowing, okay, this is a do-or-die situation,
you know, your emotions start to get the best of you.
You start feeling the energy of the crowd and start overthinking things,
as opposed to just doing what you're great at in the same temperament that you would if it was a regular,
season game that you performed great in.
But that's what pressure is, right?
Like doing something that you always do in a more intense situation.
The forecast is predicting snow in Green Bay on Saturday night.
Well, that hurts the better offense.
Well, Packers are asking for volunteers to help shovel the snow on Lambo Field on Sunday morning.
They are paying.
I think it's $12 an hour.
But the temperature is expected to be around 21 degrees with light winds and potential for snow showers during the game as well.
You know what that says to me?
That says to me, like, bad weather hurts the better offense and Green Bay has the better offense.
So that tells me it's going to be close.
I think this game was going to be close regardless.
But, yeah, I mean, I think this game goes as Aaron Jones goes.
To me, that's going to determine whether the Packers win or not.
God, I love this.
This is this weekend.
It's really a great weekend.
Oh, my gosh.
So we've got an injury update for Saturday's games.
So Ravens running back, Mark Ingram was listed in practice yesterday, was limited in practice.
I'm sorry, yesterday with a lingering cap strain, as we know.
But he did practice.
He did practice, but he was limited.
And Vikings receiver Adam Thielen missed yesterday's practice with an ankle injury.
They're both officially listed as questionable, but both are reportedly expected to be available for their games tomorrow.
The Vikings, according to Foxbet, are seven-point underdogs against the 49ers,
and obviously the Ravens are favored by nine and a half against the Titans.
Ingrams had a strain calf since week 16 against the Browns,
and that was his first team workout since that injury.
And Thieland cut his ankle at practice on Wednesday and needed stitches,
so they're kind of just trying to keep him off of that.
leg. But just some injuries to pay attention to going into this weekend. Finally, a little NBA drama.
We even had a little NBA drama. I watched some NBA last night. I watched a unbelievable documentary
and a little OKC thunder. By the way, Chris Paul, a bunch of high schoolers and they're not terrible.
No, no. And we'll talk about that in the next hour what happened last night in OKC. But speaking of OKC,
Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Durantz got a little heated on Twitter last night. It all started when
Perkins said that he thought Russell Westbrook was the greatest player to ever wear a Thunder
uniform. And then Perkins was then reminded of Westbrook's poor playoff record without KD.
And then the feud started when Durant jumped in the conversation.
So Perkins tweeted KD lost in the second round without Russ when I was there.
So what's that mean?
Oh boy.
Durant responded.
Yeah.
Our starting center, Kendrick Perkins averaged a whopping two and three during that series.
You played hard though, champ, L.O.L.
And then Perkins responded, boy, stop.
You did the weakest move in NBA history up on a team three to one in the Westwood.
conference finals and then go join them the following season.
Part of a champion right there.
Durant responded week is at starting at center, playing real minutes with no production,
should have worked on your skills as much as I did.
And then Perkins said, that's fine.
You worked hard and still had to go join a 73 and 9 team.
Truth be told, you don't even feel like a real champ.
You have a hard time sleeping at night knowing that you took the coward way out.
Oh, that final line, I'm for Kevin Durant on this.
I'm always been on Kevin Durant's side, leaving the Thunder.
Listen, you and I know this.
We have moved around.
The idea that leaving and joining a better company is a cowardly way out is dumb.
Kevin Durant joined a great American company that happens to be a basketball team.
Well, that's the issue.
When it comes to sports, the idea is that you're going to compete and claw and go.
Did somebody hand the Warriors titles?
He was the MVP of the finals.
Some would say they were handed titles.
I don't believe that at all.
I also don't think that we can sit up here and crush guys over and over for never winning championships or having poor playoff records.
And then you kill them when they move.
And then they kill them when they move.
It's one or the other.
Like it's got to be this way or that way, but it can't be both.
So it's funny.
We never kill a baseball player for saying, I want to go pitch for the Yankees.
We never, Garrett Cole's like, good kid, you go get him.
Yeah.
But a basketball guy's like, yeah, I want to play with Steph Curry.
Outrageous.
Why don't we kill NBA guys from all that?
I don't, and I don't think it's going to, it's never going to change because the entire culture down to grassroots is all about mobility now.
But it's just kind of like a little old school mentality.
It's a fun little feud.
It's, I don't think it's anything serious.
I'm bringing perk on the show and scolding them.
Come on, perk.
By the way, we, if, when Peyton Manning left the Colts and he basically went on a recruiting trip, did we knock him because he picked the best roster?
Look, there's no loyalty in professional sports.
God.
It's all just a fantasy that is sold to us and to fans to sell tickets and it's fun and we buy into it, but it doesn't actually exist.
You go to the best company for the best paycheck and the best coach and management.
Durant did.
I got nothing against O'KC.
Billy Donovan, I've always thought it's better than everybody else thinks.
But come on, going to Golden State was the right move.
You know, it's best for you.
Yep, Joy with a news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News.
Former NFL Offensive lineman, great radio TV guy down in San Diego, former pay
We love and Rich Orneberger joining us here in the herd have not had him on in like a month.
And we are, we need some rich to be enriched.
All right, let's start with this.
I started the show talking about how young kids who are 17 to 27 year old in Silicon Valley and all over the country are looking for seed money.
And they go to good schools.
And then they have a little business, but they don't have any scratch.
and big investors give them millions of dollars
and I think they've earned it.
They've earned it by the presentation, by the idea,
by their ability to communicate as they present it.
Jimmy Garapolo, similarly, he went to a good school,
University of Belichick, then he went to UC Shanahan.
He was 7 and 0.
He was very verbal, good communicator.
So when he got his contract, everybody freaked out.
And my takeaway was, no, no, no, this is what we do in America.
Young people show us just enough.
And we put our arms around him and we invest in them.
So let's go back.
You were a patriot.
Yeah.
You were pro Garapolo.
Absolutely.
Why?
Well, you know, so we didn't overlap there, but a lot of the guys who I knew.
Yeah.
A lot of the guys who I played in New England with, I kept in touch with, I'm like, so how about this Jimmy G guy?
I keep hearing about him, you know, backing up Tom for years.
Yeah.
Everybody said that it was just Tom Jr.
I mean, like this guy is as good as Tom Brady.
I mean, legitimately heard many times as good as Tom Brady.
He's just a little bit more careless with the football at practice,
but even the way they speak, the way they command the huddle,
he learns a lot.
He absorbs things.
He's just smart as a whip and can make all the throws and has better athleticism.
So the guys who were waiting to see when this sort of change of hands was going to take place in New England
were really comfortable with the idea that Garoppolo was going to be the next.
And, I mean, he's showing that in a lot of cases in San Francisco,
and that's a new offense he had to learn.
but these guys automatically started just following his lead.
I mean, from day one, from start one, and you could see it.
That's what they invested in, a field general, and they're going to have them for the next 10 years at least.
Yeah, I want to talk about there's ways to retire.
I think John Elway MVP Super Bowl Seacrest out.
Derek Jeter gets hits his final couple at bats.
It's perfect.
Then there's Muhammad Ali fighting Larry Holmes for a check, and it's just bad for everybody, including Ali, the sport Larry Holmes.
Tom Brady to me, wrap a bow on it.
It's perfect.
The band is breaking up.
Josh McDaniels is leaving.
He cannot make now, quote, the wide side of the field throws, up the field throws.
There's a rigidity to his play that's very hard for young receivers,
Nikiel Harry, Jacoby Myers to really integrate themselves into the system.
I can love Tom, but I'm old enough.
I've seen boxers fight one too many fights and quarterbacks take one too many hit.
Where do you land on Brady retiring?
You know, the best movies that I leave the theater are the ones that leave you wanting a little bit more, you know?
The ones that I dislike are the ones where I walk out and I go, that was a great movie, but it was a half hour too long.
Yeah.
And that's where we're getting close to with Tom Brady.
Now, he was my quarterback when I was in New England.
I love the way he plays.
I love the leader he is.
And I think he can still do it.
But because you still can doesn't mean you should.
I mean, just because you have more film in the.
can doesn't mean we need to see it.
Leave it on the editing room floor.
Some of the best movies have the best editors attached to him, and it's for that reason.
Look, I don't remember Fav as a Viking, even though he's a pro bowler there.
Remember him as a Packer?
I mean, you could say what you want about Montana, winning a playoff game with the Chiefs,
but I remember him as a nineer.
I'll never think of Tom Brady as anything other than a Patriot great.
And I think it's okay to say, I've did everything I need to do, and I did it in one jersey,
shake Bob Craft's hand and right off into the sunset.
Even if your last play is a pick six, there are a lot of unhappy endings in football.
Go on and run your TB12 fortunes and enjoy retirement.
You know, go fish and work part-time at a hardware store.
Whatever you're going to do?
I think he'll be at Home Depot wearing an apron very soon.
Before we get to the games, because you've got strong feelings on all of them,
I do believe in, I just said this, high compensation, high-pressure jobs,
tech CEOs have a high turnover.
rate. The national average is three and a half,
Tex 13, CEOs was
17% last year. NFL head
coach is over 20. This year we had
five lose their job. Dan Quinn and
Doug Marone somehow there was a
life preserver thrown to pull him into the boat
at the very last seconds, or it would have been
seven, which is a quarter of the league.
Josh
McDaniels,
I do think I would
give him another job. I'm
just not sure Cleveland
with an impulsive owner and an impulsive quarterback is the right job.
I'd like more stability.
What do you make of Josh McDaniels and the Browns?
Because that's the leader in the clubhouse,
and we could have an announcement tomorrow morning or today.
I think it could work.
And I'll tell you why.
Because second chances, even though we at first,
at first glance, when he left Denver and there was shame around,
you know, his first attempt at being a head coach,
it doesn't mean that it can't.
work the next time. In fact, the best coaches, the best players learn the best from their mistakes.
I can learn as good from a good example as I came from a bad example. I think bad examples are
easier to, I think Joe and I have talked about this. My shortest stay in television, I learned the
most and that was in Tampa. I learned what not to do. Exactly right. That happens all the time.
And so from a personnel standpoint, from the way he controlled that team, I mean, there are some
things that I'm sure he walks away going, boy, if I had another opportunity, that would go
completely differently and it might go better. And I also think,
that the Cleveland Browns need an offensive-minded head coach. They need somebody who's going to
lock arms with Baker and is going to be there with him for the remaining time as a Brown.
I think that could be Josh McDaniels and they're going to be linked in this. You have to.
You have to do it for Baker. He's already had three head coaches. I mean, you fired his first one.
He had an interim and he's on to the next and you have to have some consistency. Otherwise, this
situation could turn into what was the 49ers situation with Alex Smith, who turns out is
a pretty good quarterback when he's in a consistent setting like he became when he was
chief with Andy Reed. So I think this marriage could work. Now, discord with the Browns organization.
It's all about fit, though. Things could look a lot better for the Browns, like they did for
the Patriots who are a laughing stock for years before Kraft bought the team and Belichick was there.
Consistency can really heal things. By the way, I'm getting tired of this narrative. USA Today,
it today. It's like people stop.
Lamar Jackson got drafted in the first round.
Okay. Let's
stop the sympathy tour. Baltimore
passed than him in their first pick.
Allowed Cincinnati a shot at him. Nobody knew it was going to
be this good. With Bobby Petrino,
never completed 60% of his throws in college.
When you're a unique
talent, you're harder
to evaluate. Dirk Novitsky
was 7-1 and didn't like playing in the
post. He went ninth.
Easily the best player in the draft.
Steph Curry shot the ball from 33,
His range was so unique.
People are like, you can't do that in the pro basketball.
Now, if you don't shoot it through, you're a bum.
So you look at Lamar.
Do you know of all the quarterbacks playing in the playoffs this weekend?
This is how hard it is to evaluate this position.
The highest draft pick is Ryan Tannie.
Doesn't that shock you?
Now look at, this is the screen.
Ryan went eighth.
By the way, two number two picks, RG3 and Marcus Marietta,
are busts and backup this weekend.
This position is Johnny Unitas ninth round,
Bartstar 17th, the goat, Brady 6th.
It's hard.
So here's my thing with Lamar.
Let's enjoy it.
He went first round.
It's so much fun to watch.
I mean, I've got to be honest with you.
I called him a project.
So I kind of, I mean, I didn't whiff, but I didn't see this.
Did you?
No, no, absolutely not.
I didn't think the game would transfer.
And it doesn't have as much to do with his unique skill set,
more that did you really feel an offensive coordinator would be particularly amenable to changing their
offense completely to match what he did while he was at Louisville?
That doesn't sound like the NFL.
No, this is a very rigid league.
You're up against most offensive coordinators who want to amend player skill sets to their
offense.
There's an ego involved there.
I'm going to find the right guy and he's going to champion my ship.
That's right.
Meanwhile, what's taking place in Baltimore is beautiful.
This is what we should always do.
Take the best ingredients and say, okay, what is this
Ruta Bigga saying to me?
What is this turnip all about?
And let me make the best stew possible as opposed to saying,
let me buy the pot first, right?
No, buy the best ingredients and then make your stew.
And that's what the Baltimore Ravens did.
And by the way, I mean, really, the heartbreak around
where he was drafted and how it works out.
I mean, the guy he replaced,
that's literally what happened with Joe Flacco,
sort of an undervalued guy out of Delaware.
Transferred in college.
Exactly.
You had a couple of guys ahead of them on the depth chart to start that training camp.
He won the job.
He won the hearts of Baltimore.
He won them a Super Bowl.
We're seeing a very similar trajectory with Lamar Jackson.
Why do we love the Joe Burrough story where he was sort of cast aside at Ohio State?
Don't we love the comeback story?
Why don't we love that people passed on Lamar and he's shoving it?
You know where.
That's what I love the Dac Prescott story.
I love these stories.
Drew Breeze, everybody passed.
That's part of the Drew Brice.
He's a little short.
He went to Purdue.
He didn't have a great arm.
For some reason, we can't enjoy the Lamar story.
We're mad about it.
I don't understand.
Here do I.
Well, isn't it?
Also, this is life.
Like, in a lot of ways, it's the ones we didn't see coming, right?
I mean, you can say like, you know, whatever.
You can say, I scouted this position.
and I scoured every moment and I found the right guy.
And a lot of times, I mean, that doesn't work out.
It's the guy who's been on your roster all long.
It's the it's the rom-com that we go and see.
It's like, well, it wasn't the handsome guy who is standing there with the broad shoulders.
It was kind of his geeky-dwebby friend who ended up getting the girl.
That's how it always goes.
Half the NFL is undrafted.
The NBA is not.
By the seventh pick of the NBA draft, historically, you run out of Kobe's.
I mean, you get to about, like, there's a number in the NBA.
draft, it's like 12 or 13 and you're run out of stars. They're all exceptions after that.
All right, come back. We're going to have four picks. He's going to pick all the games.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office, Blue, 42.
Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Where's she at?

Rich Ormberger's joining us, NFL for a long time.
He's just talking about his relationship with Dante Scarnikia, Patriots, legendary OC,
who he calls a friend, a mentor, a teacher.
Some of our stories often with Rich are better off the air than on.
although he's great on the air.
So let's break down the games.
Let's get to it.
Minnesota, San Francisco, I could argue,
two of the top three rosters in the National Football League.
What say you?
They are built almost identically.
I mean, they really are really strong, physical, aggressive defenses,
a run game that really scares you in a lot of ways.
Both teams want to run the football.
They want to use their quarterback as a compliment.
They don't want to highlight Jimmy Garoppolo in San Francisco
the same way they don't want to do that to Cousins in Minnesota.
Do you know quarterback rating, Garapolo's 12, Cousins 13?
Yeah.
They're a lot closer than you think.
I like Garoppolo more, but they're similar.
Throw another guy into that.
Aaron Rogers is right there.
We'll get to that game in a second, but Aaron Rogers,
another guy is being used as a compliment right now.
But back to Viking San Francisco,
when you think about these two teams,
what it's going to be is who wins the war of attrition.
It's going to set up a lot like the Seattle 49er battle.
It's going to be great defense,
running the air out of the ball.
and not putting Kirk Cousins into a situation where he has to do it all.
He won that game in OT against the Saints.
Yeah.
It's the first time and maybe the only time we've ever seen him do that in a real big moment.
Don't make it about him.
I think this game comes down to Mike Zimmer's defense against Garoppolo.
And can he decode what's happening?
Because Mike Zimmer did a fantastic job disguising coverages,
getting aggressive in the Blitz package against the New Orleans Saints.
He kept them guessing.
He kept Drew Brees off balance.
Never got into a rhythm.
Never got into a rhythm.
And that's rare to see in New Orleans.
So I think if the Vikings do that against the San Francisco 49ers, they have a chance.
But I really feel like the motion's going to run out.
I think the Niners win this game.
It's very difficult to have a win like you had in New Orleans and come back and turn around as a locker room and say,
and we're going to do it again.
All right.
Coming up next, Titans Ravens.
Similarly, this is why I like the Ravens.
Tennessee may have been the biggest music season.
city win in a decade.
Foxborough, Belichick, Dynasty, Brady.
Let's do it again, fellas, against a significantly better team, I think, in Baltimore.
But you think it's got potential for an upset.
Oh, man.
You know, people are probably going to be upset with this one.
But I think the road ends for Lamar Jackson here.
Oh, Lord.
Yeah.
And the reason why is because the Tennessee Titans, they are just bad dudes.
They want to bring a level of violence to the field that we really haven't seen
since the 2000 Ravens.
They have a nasty defense.
They have a defense who's going to come up line against you and say,
look, we're just going to pound you.
We're going to pound you.
Now, if they can make open field tackles against Lamar Jackson good on them,
I don't think that's going to be the game plan, though.
I think they're going to blitz the dog out of the Ravens.
They're going to get to the mesh point in the backfield.
The only place Lamar Jackson is vulnerable is in the backfield,
whether that be in the passing game or the run game.
So in the passing game, for obvious reasons,
we all see what a pass rush can do to a young quarterback.
But in the run game, because everything's deception,
everything who has the football, get to them,
and you're going to find out real quick,
because a quarterback doesn't want to get hit,
especially when their hands are in the chest of their running back.
So I think if the Titans come out fast,
and if you win that toss, you take that ball.
Oh, you do not defer.
You do not defer.
You take that ball and you sit on the ball,
you run the air out of that ball,
and you don't give it back for seven minutes out of clip.
You sort of devenomize this Ravens offense by getting blitz heavy against them.
And then you say to Lamar Jackson, can you beat us one-on-one down the field?
And there's some good matchups there.
You know, brown downfield, it scares you.
But you have to roll the dice if you're going to beat a juggernaut like Baltimore.
And I think they can.
Texans Chiefs, Kansas City's defense, Andy Reid off a buy.
Love that.
He's very good.
I get that.
The Texans, to me, were outgained and trailed more than they led this year.
but again, Deshawn's the human life preserver,
so he saves the day with a flag football play.
I like Kansas City here.
What say you?
You want to talk about lacking rhythm.
This Houston Texans offense is so herky, jerky and unpredictable.
There's no rhythm to it whatsoever.
You know, Deshawn Watson with the Texans this year reminds me of Aaron Rogers with Mike McCarthy.
Go save the day, Aaron.
Our game plan, Aaron Rogers, all two, all two, ready break.
And that's what it is with Deshawn Watson.
It's backyard football.
This guy scrambles.
He improvises.
He makes plays.
He's a linchpin to their success in the run game.
Their offensive line isn't very good.
Not the right side of it's bad.
Yeah.
So you really have to depend on just Sean Watson to win this game for you.
And I don't think they will because Andy Reid, like you mentioned after a buy, you know what that's good for?
About a 10 point lead to start a game.
Yeah.
I really think his first 15 plays are going to dissect, dissect what the Texans liabilities are defensively.
And you're going to see a chief's team out with a lead early in this game with.
Mahomes, who's the future of the quarterback position, arrowhead going nuts.
The Texans playing on a tilted field all game long.
This is a Chiefs win, and it may be the biggest margin of victory we see this weekend.
Finally, Packers at home against Green Bay.
I think the number's about right.
Seattle last week, now they're down to their fourth and fifth string running back.
They just couldn't run the ball.
So you're asking a very depleted Seattle team that can win one way, save us, Russell.
So I'd probably go Green Bay.
but as I've said many times, I don't love the Packers this year.
This game comes down to Aaron Jones, not Rogers.
They have to run the football.
Again, like I was talking about the San Francisco 49ers.
Seattle's good against the run.
They are good against a run, but I will say this.
The Packers really, they played against a lot of teams great against the run
and they've moved the football on them.
This is going to be another one of those games.
Think about how the bills looked against the Houston Texans.
This could be low squire.
boring, bad weather game.
And I think that actually favors the Packers.
I understand a lot of people are used to looking at the Green Bay Packers as this highlight
offense.
They're not anymore.
They're not.
You know, it's funny.
Aaron Rogers completion percentage over the last two months, his passer rating, it's remarkably
average.
And that's not a shot at him.
He's, I mean, it's okay.
He's had two collar bones.
He's not quite as mobile.
Probably doesn't want to get hit.
The older you get, quarterback's, you know, Brady we saw this year.
no interest getting hit. Eli, no interest. I'm with you. I think Green Bay wins kind of ugly.
He's great. Aaron Rogers is great. And I say that about him with deference to how things fell apart between him and McCarthy because of what he's been able to do with a new coach. He's really resigned himself to say, it's your offense, I'll run it. And they've done a really nice job. And he's one of the most devastating deep pass throwers in this league. So if they lean on their run game against a depleted Seattle team because their offense can't produce, and if they get an early lead, and it's Preston Smith and Zedariari,
Smith off the edge against Russell Wilson with a terrible pass blocking offensive line.
This is going to be one of those games where we see the Packers in control early and they'll
lean on them the rest of the game. It isn't going to be a sexy win. It's not going to be one of
these box office games where they're trading blows all the way down the field, but it's
going to be a Packers win and they'll advance. Yeah, Seattle games all kind of look the same.
Like the ones they win and lose, you know, you just you look up and you're like, oh, it's
2320 and there's seven to go.
That's kind of how Seattle wins.
They don't have the firepower to blow you away,
but they have the player that can win a game
where they're outplayed, and that's Seattle.

Joy Taylor, joining us as well this morning.
Joy, how are you?
Doing great.
So Rich is really a good guest.
He got all sorts of thoughts on what is happening.
This is what it's all about.
I mean, this is, I can make an argument.
This is the best weekend of the year for sports.
I get four divisional round NFL games in the national championship
in college football, LSU Clemson on Monday night.
the next five games in football in America, this is just the gift that keeps on giving.
The ratings are up on all the networks.
I think all these new quarterbacks are so much funny.
I knew there was a moment this year.
And, you know, listen, I loved Farrb.
I love Peyton Manning.
I love Brady.
I love Breeze.
I like the old school guys.
But I remember a moment this year when I'm sitting watching Kyler Murray and Arizona's losing
and it's a bad team and I don't know how good their coach is.
and I cannot turn the channel from Kyler Murray.
I am transfixed.
And I remember thinking, this is the new league.
Yep.
This is what it is.
Guys running around and making plays,
it was so much fun and they were not a good team.
And I had my questions about Kyler Murray.
He looks so small.
But this is the future of the league.
And we got all these young quarterbacks,
all now MVP-level guy.
Last two years,
MVP's are going to be Mahomes and Lamar Jackson.
They're like babies.
that's not the way it used to work.
Peyton Manning had a bad fourth year in the NFL.
Like year four for Peyton Manning,
who was the interception machine.
Guys come into the league,
they're better than ever,
faster than ever,
and a lot of it,
this train's not stopping.
A lot of this,
it's all these seven-on-seven camps.
All these quarterbacks now
have 10,000 snaps
by the time they're 12.
It did not work that way,
even a generation ago.
These guys are ready to play.
You can go to Southern California.
There's these high school camps everywhere.
These kids are,
12 years old now with 10,000 snaps.
Before they get to high school, they're playing on these seven-on-seven camps.
We got three guys coming out this year who are very interesting.
One, two, I think's a star.
Next year we got two guys, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields.
I think they're both stars.
And I think Justin Herbert and Joe Burrell could be good.
I don't know if they're stars.
But this train's not stopping.
These kids now come into this league.
They're the best athlete in their high school and college team.
And they've got 30,000 snaps by the time they're.
get to the NFL. Remember you get these, you talk to these older quarterbacks like Drew Bletso
comes on our show and he's like, he goes, I played like 18 high school games. Some guys
didn't even play quarterback until they were in college. Yeah, it's all different now. It's just
they have quarterback camps everywhere. There's more access to information, you know, nutrition
and rehab and their training with former players. I mean, think this weekend. Just think of this
weekend at the AFC. Lamar Jackson, 2018 draft. Patrick Mahomes, 2017.
draft. Deshawn Watson, 2017 draft, Josh Allen, 2018 draft.
Four of the six AFC playoff teams has got a kid that can run around, best athlete in the
team in Wyoming, Josh Allen, put him in high school at quarterback in California.
All right, he's a big kid. He looks like a tied end.
Nope, let's let him play quarterback, and here he is.
And by the way, there's three good quarterbacks coming out.
One, I think two is a star.
They'll probably go to AFC teams because Cincinnati's drafting one, Miami's drafting one,
and I think the Chargers want one.
And if the Colts can get up there, they want one.
so you could have three more great young quarterbacks coming into the AFC.
For years and years, the AFC was dominated mostly by Brady, Big Ben, and Peyton Manning
because the quarterback play after those three was awful in the AFC.
It was really average.
The NFC, no quarterback's gotten to more than two Super Bowls.
Eli, two, Russell Wilson, too.
Why?
Because the quarterback play was so good in the NFC.
Now it's all switching.
These bad AFC teams are getting quarterbacks.
Watch out.
Watch out.
All right, here we go.
Blazing 5 is during the regular C.
I don't do blazing fives much in the postseason because frankly, there's only four games.
There's only one here I bet.
And I'll tell you that one when I do it.
So here we go with our NFL pecks.
Vikings at 49ers.
I like the 49ers to win.
I think the number, San Francisco minus seven is about right.
Here's the issue with facing San Francisco.
They are seven and three against the spread against non-divisional opponents this year.
What does it mean?
Seattle plays them tight and Arizona played them tight.
Rams once played them tight. Their defensive line is so overwhelming. You got to see them a couple
times to get used to it. And Minnesota now is one of these teams that hadn't faced it yet.
I don't love Minnesota's offensive line. Delvin Cook has only averaged 3.3 yards of carry
in his last seven games. Vikings O line, not their strength. I think they could be overwhelmed.
I think San Francisco off a by will be very clever and take a lead. I do think Minnesota is well-coached.
I don't think they can duplicate the emotional win at the Superdome.
So I think the number's about right.
San Francisco wins 2720, but it feels bigger than that.
And the Niners take a lead and mostly control the game.
Titans and Ravens.
This is the one I'd bet.
I think this is a potential blowout.
I'll take Baltimore.
Listen, Tennessee has been leaning on Derek Henry over and 30 carries and over.
And they just beat the Dynasty and Belichick and Brady.
And I don't think they can duplicate this.
here's what I really like about Baltimore.
Yet we all know the offense is exceptional.
Since Jimmy Smith got healthy at corner and they acquired Marcus Peters, I can make an argument,
it's the best cornerback duo in the league.
So they can put these two corners on an island against Tennessee and just crowd the box and say,
Derek Henry, eight guys, six blockers, you're not getting through.
Now, I know he's like tackling a refrigerator.
I get that.
But this is a big physical defense.
and since they are right now,
the Ravens have the number one NFL scoring defense
and total defense since Marcus Peters arrived.
So again, when you got two great corners,
it allows you to cheat everywhere else.
I'll take the Ravens to win, 31 to 20.
I don't know if they jump out to a lead,
but I think overtime, Tennessee is a lot of three-in-outs
and is the Baltimore dominates time of possession.
Texans at Cheaps.
Kansas City wins here to me.
I'll tell you what I like about Kansas City.
First of all, we know the Texans' offensive line is not good.
Well, that's a problem because Frank Clark, even though he missed games, had eight sacks.
And Chris Jones, even though he missed games, had nine sacks.
These are elite defensive linemen against the right side of the Texans' offensive line, which is not good.
I mean, Houston is such an outlier.
They were out game this year.
They trailed more than they led, and they just relied on, again,
Deshawn Watson to make flag football plays.
But in the end, Kansas City brought in a lot of new faces on defense, and it took them
to Thanksgiving, so the players were thinking less and reacting more.
And I get Patrick Mahomes.
I get all these weapons.
I get Andy Reid off a buy.
He's one of the NFL's best coaches off a buy.
Houston has to get on the road.
don't like him at all in this spot. I'll take the Chiefs 33-23.
Seahawks at Packers. I feel like Green Bay is going to win the numbers right.
Green Bay is not nearly, you know, you say Aaron Rogers, you just think explosive, but they really
have one receiver that he throws to, Devante Adams. That's it. He doesn't trust anybody else.
If Devante Adams twists his leg, this thing's going to overtime, 6-6. I mean, there's not,
Green Bay's offense is not, it's down from the McCarthy era in terms of adjustment point.
third down conversion, yards.
But I do think they're very good in scripted plays,
in bad weather, they take a lead,
and Seattle's a one-trick pony,
and the trick is Russell Wilson.
Listen, last week,
not only was Russell Wilson,
the leading rusher for Seattle,
Seattle's running backs on 17 carries had 19 yards.
It's over.
They just cluster in.
This was a running team.
It'd be different if Seattle was Kansas City,
and they're throwing the ball all over the yard.
It's a power running.
team and they lost their two, well, they're three best backs.
They're a one-trick pony.
So I don't think, I do think Seattle's defensive front will have some success against the Packers
Offensive line, which is the worst Green Bay line in several years.
But in the end here, the number's right.
I'll take Packers 27, 23.
Russell Wilson is 11 and 2 and 1 possession game.
So if it's close late, that's what Pete Carroll wants.
Get me to the fourth close.
I think it's going to feel very early on that,
Green Bay is the better team.
Green Bay's in control.
They get a little conservative late.
Seattle pulls closer.
But I think the number's right on.
It's four to four and a half.
So my divisional round picks, I like the Niners at home.
I like the Ravens big at home.
I like the Chiefs big at home.
And I like ugly Green Bay win at home.
Now, you know I'm not going to go four and oh.
So somebody's getting upset here.
And I am betting my own money on Baltimore.
Very risky problem.
A lot of it.
You know, just put it in context.
It's a good airplane ticket to a city near Beijing.
It's a fairly expensive airplane ticket.
So, you know, this is an interesting weekend.
You feel very, very strongly about that.
I do.
I think they've leaned so heavily on Derek Henry.
When you, you got to remember, this has been Tennessee is a franchise that's had so many disappointing losses.
They're kind of like the chargers of the South.
They outplay it and they lose.
And then they beat and kind of bury the dynasty.
They didn't go to bed till Tuesday.
And I have a feeling you're asking him to go on the road.
And I mean, I can see the way Tennessee controls the clock.
But I kind of feel, I mean, let's be honest about Ryan Tanniel.
He threw for 70 yards in Foxboro.
No, I mean, I think the Ravens win.
I just think how this game goes is going to depend on how the Titans start the game.
They score early.
Yeah.
All right.
So Kevin Clark, Eric Dickerson, both.

What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.

I like the boogey style of Housewives show.
I think it looks like it's going to be interesting.

I'll even say this.

Former Wall Street Journal writer, then Bill Simmons got smart, hired him at the ringer,
Kevin Clark, newly married and everything.
Always funny, always smart.
It is great to see you on a Friday.
This is one of the great weekends of the year.
Four great NFL games, college football national championship on Monday.
It is great to have you here.
So, you know, we were talking earlier that my goofy take was that when young tech kids 18 to 28 are looking for seed money, and they go in and they present it, and you're kind of how do they communicate?
Where did they go to college?
Do they have a plan?
Are they providing something I don't have?
We give them $18 million, and we think, well, they earned it.
Jimmy Garoppolo was 7 and 0 at the University of Belichick and UC Kyle Shanahan.
And then everybody's like, whoa, 26 million.
And I'm like, no, I mean, we give money to Baker Mayfield and he's never.
played outside of the Big 12.
I didn't have a problem with the Garoppolo
contract.
Were you a little cynical
initially when they gave him 26 large?
I understand why they do it. They gave him 41
million in cash last year. They had the
cap room and so now that the cap hits are
okay the rest of the time. This is the cost
of doing business in the NFL. I mean, you can keep
trying to find the guy or you can get
the guy and you can commit to him. That's it.
I mean, that's what quarterbacks cost after the
first four years. And so I wasn't
offended by the contract. I
I think that Jimmy Garoppolo with Kyle Shanahan and with George Kittle and with Debo Samuel and
Emmanuel Sanders, that is an elite production quarterback.
This isn't a contest to see who can make it the hardest.
It's a contest to win the Super Bowl.
And you can win the Super Bowl.
We can see that with Jimmy Garoppolo.
They're the one seed.
I think they're the best team in the NFC.
And so if they can build a team, and by the way, everybody makes excuses about paying quarterbacks
and not being able to build a team.
John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have shown you can pay a quarterback.
You can build an infrastructure around them.
You can draft well, and you can build a really good team.
So I'm not offended by the contract because they clearly knew how to make it work.
By the way, I can love the way John Elway retires,
and I can love the athlete, Muhammad Ali, and hate that he fought Larry Holmes.
There are, I like a neat, tidy, present, Rap a bow, Tony Gonzalez,
I can still play Derek Jeter, I'm out.
I do think with the band breaking up in New England,
Brian Flores, Dante Scarnacki is getting up.
getting older. Josh McDaniels may take the Cleveland job. I do think it's time. I probably in the
minority. Where do you land on Brady in retirement? Well, I think that it's bigger than just Brady
because you look at the core. Okay, Devin McCordy's a free agent. Guys like Matthew Slater who help
run that locker room, they're free agents. And so I think there's a bigger changing of
the guard than even we think about. I think Brady should come back for one more year. He
obviously wants to. I think that it's funny. There have been a lot of studies done a couple of last
couple weeks about how quarterbacks age.
And essentially they fall off a cliff.
There's not a decline. Pro football focus had a great piece about this this week.
There's not a decline.
There's a cliff.
And I don't think we've seen that cliff yet with Tom Brady.
And I think he kind of wants to see how far he can draw it out.
I think he said in the past he wants to play until 46.
That's based on some real baseball science.
Tom Howe, some of those guys who've coached him.
They think, okay, Nolan Ryan was able to have the mechanics until he was 46.
Tom Brady could too.
I think they want to see how long this TB12.
method can go, how long he can do his avocado ice cream and stay healthy.
I think there's a challenge to this now, unlike anything he's ever faced in his career,
and I think he likes that kind of challenge.
Hey, can I be productive at 43 or even 44?
Kevin Clark at the ringer.
So Josh McDaniels feels like to me there's a rock star quality to him.
I say this, certain franchises, I call him low self-esteem sports franchises.
Cleveland's one of these, the Mets.
for years, the Jets.
When you play in the shadow of somebody,
you know, Steelers down the road,
Ohio State football, here's Cleveland.
And, you know, they reach.
They reach on quarterbacks.
They reach on coaches.
They look for the Baker Mayfield.
They said, we like his leadership.
You know, they do this.
They reach.
And Josh McDaniels has got a lot of hubris.
There's some Lane Kiffin, high IQ, lower EQ.
I think he's going to be the guy.
If he is, I know Denver was ugly,
could it work?
at this point you take the Cleveland job for one reason.
That's to work one year and they get paid out for four years.
Because of the,
I'd like to put my hat in the ring there.
I'd love to work one year and get paid out for four.
Like a 401k in your 30s.
That's amazing.
Take a couple years off, watch a bunch of movies.
So I think that that's what's happening.
And the Browns have doomed themselves to failure
by not knowing what they want.
They've had five coaches and five GMs.
Their longest tenured coach this decade is Hugh Jackson,
which is just astounding.
And if you're Josh McDaniels, how can you go into Cleveland and think that this is going to be any different?
How do you not know that in a year, Jimmy Haslam's not going to say, hey, wait a second, we don't like this either.
And now all of a sudden they're hiring their seventh coach and their seventh GM.
I mean, the only way to guarantee failures to keep starting over after a year.
It takes six to eight months to even settle in an NFL into a new job and learn who the everybody's names and all that stuff.
And they don't have a great GM.
They don't have a great GM.
Another issue, and I'm not into Baker like everybody else, but I think it's fair to say he's impulsive.
Can you coach him out of that?
I think you can, but I think you need a time and an infrastructure.
And you need, this isn't like Dallas where it's a quick fix.
This is a long-term culture fix.
This might take two full years just to get the bad juju out of the building, okay?
And so I think that with Baker specifically, listen, you can't have that.
that kind of talent he showed at the end of 2018
without being just a naturally good passer
and that can be brought out of him again.
I still believe against all evidence in 2019
that Baker Mayfield can be a good NFL quarterback.
As Josh McDaniel is the higher, I'm not sure.
But what I do know is if Jimmy Haslam in 12 months
decide to start over again,
they're going to ruin not only his career,
but everybody else on that roster's career
and they're going to doom their franchise again.
For the record, I think Baker will be much better next year.
If Jim Schwartz I don't like,
I think then Baker's career
done, but if they get Josh, I do think he reboots, he's okay.
I never thought he was Drew Brees, but I do think he's a franchise quarterback.
All right, let's go to the games. Kevin Clark, the ringer joining us.
Vikings and the Niners, a lot of similarities, pass rushers, all three levels of defense.
They like run games.
I go Niners.
You say what?
I say Niners as well.
I think they're the best team in the NFC.
I think there's a lot that cancels out in this game.
The Vikings are better than any team at covering the tight end.
George Kittle is the best tight end in football.
The Niners are the best taking way of the deep pass.
Kirk Cousins is a very good deep ball passer.
So I think that it just comes down to a couple of different little things.
And that would be roster talent, coaching, and quarterback.
And I would say, again, Garoppola with Kyle Shanahan is a better quarterback than Kirk Cousins
in that infrastructure with that talent around him.
So I'm going to give the nod to the Niners because of that.
I think it might be close, but I would say maybe 10 points.
I think the Niners are really good.
Okay, I like the Ravens to blow out the Titans.
Rich Orrumburger, who's very bright, does not calling the upset.
How do you see it?
I think it's Ravens, too.
I think it's similar to the Niners.
They're the best team of their conference, and they're going to win.
I think that Lamar Jackson is, you know, there's so many theories on how to beat Lamar Jackson,
and no one has really done it in any meaningful way.
The Chargers did it when he was basically a different player last year.
Oh, no, he wasn't the same guy.
With seven defensive backs.
I had a conversation with a guy named Jerome Baker, who plays a longback for the Dolphins a couple weeks ago.
And he said that the problem with Lamar is if you're too slow,
he'll just run right past you.
But if you're too fast, he knows exactly how to use that against you.
And he knows exactly how to play the angles and just let you overrun him.
And that's the problem with Lamar is if you're too fast or too slow, you will fail.
And that is the problem that every defense has.
Either they're fast and physical and they can't touch him or they're too fast and they overrun him and they overthink this thing.
He crosses the line of scrimmage at 13 miles per hour when he runs,
which is I drove here.
I drove east to west from Los Angeles.
I did not go 13 miles per hour.
point during that drive.
And Lamar Jackson, that's his average.
I just don't know who an NFL defense reckons with that.
And then you add in the fact he's the third best passer by passer rating.
I mean, it is going to take something very, very special.
I like the Titans.
I like Derek Henry, AJ Brown, all the stuff they've done.
I think you add in on the defense that the Ravens blitzing and Tanna Hill's propensity
to fall down over his career.
I don't see this particularly encouraging for the Titans.
All right.
Andy Redoff, a buy is remarkable.
They get one here against the Houston team that will.
was outgained and trailed more than lead.
If I was a sports gambler, I just would not bet Texans games ever.
I think they're impossible to figure out.
They're a flag football team with four minutes to go with the best flag football quarterback in the league.
Kansas City feels like a significantly better team.
And by the way, Kevin, their defense has been terrific from about last six weeks.
Yeah, Kansas City's all we wanted last January, all anybody talked about in the media was,
Well, if the defense gets a little bit better,
unions gets a little bit better, they fire Bob Sutton.
Well, that happened.
In fact, they've gotten a lot better over the past month.
They shut down the Patriots, although that ended up not being as big of an accomplishment as we thought.
But then they hold Drew Locke to three points, Mitch Trubiskey to three points.
They have been solid.
Ron Matthews playing really well.
And so I think that generally this is the team we wanted to see last January.
The only problem is Mahomes is not putting up the numbers he put up last year,
but he's basically the same guy.
I feel like we've all collectively forgotten.
It's like the Beatles movie yesterday, right?
We all woke up, and I feel like I'm the only person who remembers how good Patrick Mahomes is.
We're not talking about it.
We're talking about Lamar Jackson.
And I've said this before.
I like Lamar, but if you said next 10 years who's the better quarterback, I'm like, Mahom's going to run the league.
He's an unbelievable, all-time transformational talent.
Without a doubt.
And for all the things Lamar does, the hardest thing to defend in the history of the NFL is a perfectly thrown pass.
Patrick Mahomes throws perfect passes.
And that's why I think, okay, Justin Reed is a really good player back there for the Texans.
they're actually pretty good against the deep ball.
But I think that they just have too many weapons in Kansas City.
I think Travis Kelsey would be able to pick them apart.
I don't see this as anything more than maybe a 10-point game.
All right.
Finally, Seahawks Packers, Seattle, it's, you know, listen, if you listen to this show,
I think in my lifetime, Russell Wilson is the most underappreciated college or pro player I've ever seen.
People forget he went to conservative Wisconsin, completed 73% of his throws,
33 touchdowns, four picks, but because he was an inch too short,
we're not going to take him.
People think Lamar was underdrafted.
Literally, all Russell Wilson did in college
at the most conservative offense
was create a firework show.
I give Seattle kind of a shot
because of Russell, do you?
In this game, I actually think that the stealth
starting went very, very close.
Now, the Packers, I think,
are a better team than we give them credit for.
I saw some stats, one of the worst 13 and three teams in history.
Oh, they are.
That's a nice problem to have.
be one of the worst 13 and three teams
in history than one of the best nine and
17. So listen, the Packers
has done a nice team building job. Zadaria Smith's, one of
the best players in defensive football right now.
What a get he was at a really good price.
Really good price. Could you imagine if you're still on the
Ravens, how good that team would be? Oh, my gosh.
But he leads the NFL in pressurous right now,
and I think that they've done a nice job, again, of building
around a really expensive quarterback and
figuring out what they needed to do in free agency.
It's basically as good as you can do when you're
paying a quarterback that much. However,
I think Russell Wilson is
one of the two, three best
quarterbacks in football. I'd actually say
right now it's Lamar, Wilson, and
Mahal. Trent Dofer told me last week, he said
it's the best football player in
the world. It's not crazy.
And he can make plays, and now D.K.
Metcalfe breaking the rookie record
for receiving
yards last week. I mean, D.K. McC.
is a good example of what smart teams do, the dumb teams
don't. They looked at Dekin McHap and said, what
can he do, not what can't he do? Okay,
he couldn't run incredible routes. The three
cone was down. He couldn't change direction well.
what can he do? He can run really fast and catch passes and score touchdowns.
And the Seahawks didn't overthink it now.
They've got a connection there.
Obviously, they're running games now where it needs to be.
Marshaun Lynch is not going to be as productive as the guys he replaced or injured.
But I think this comes down to the last, listen, you should not have sustainably close games and win.
That's not supposed to happen.
You're supposed to, you know, it's basically 50-50 or whatever.
That's right.
But the Seahawks have made it work.
They understand how to play in close games.
I think they win this game.
They're almost like the bizarro charger.
right? Everything comes down to the end,
but instead of the chargers who screw it up,
the Seahawks make it work. I like them close in this game.
Kevin Clark, the ringer, you just do terrific work.
You're just still 33 years old?
Yeah, just turned it. What kind of future is that?
It's crazy. It's unfair. He's our Lamar.
He's just got 10, 12 years of nothing but great articles.
The ringer, Kevin Clark,
go to what's your Twitter handle here?
At by Kevin Clark.
All right. Again, very clever.
It's great seeing you on all your success.
Happy marriage.
Good luck going forward.
Love having you on the show.
Thanks.
All right.
Joey with the news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the Herdline News.
Russell Westbrook returned to Oklahoma City last night.
He did.
For the first time as a member of the Houston Rockets.
Before the game, the team showed their appreciation with a tribute video, which was very nice, very touching video.
I saw that.
And then the crowd gave him a standing ovation.
Which they should.
Yes.
And after the game, Westbrook said that it felt great to be back.
Some things you can't put into words just because I've been there for so long and so many great memories, great people.
Obviously the best fans in the world because they come with it.
And tonight they came with it.
And the organization, Sam, Mr. Bennett, you know, they do an amazing job of,
Just making you feel home, man.
I feel like I was home.
It makes me happy.
And he was good.
He was very efficient last night.
Hardin was not efficient.
Greg, how many shots did Hardin take?
Not many.
He took the night off while playing.
He should have just not played.
He was 14 of 26.
He had 34 points.
He had to bounce and five assists.
And that's how he should have been treated.
That's exactly how it should have worked.
Absolutely.
And there was never of thought in my mind that they wouldn't give him a good reception.
He was their guy.
He stuck through it.
He was loyal.
It's just sometimes this is a part of the nature of the game.
Like that's what it should be.
And Westbrook is a real one.
Like there was no chance that his reception of the fans and how he was going to act last night was going to be anything other than it was.
It was all gracious.
Yeah, it was fun.
It was good to see a good reception like that as former teammates coming up, Stephen Adams.
I loved it.
I love seeing stuff like this.
It's a good reminder of like what sports is because, you know, our favorite athletes and our favorite teams, they bring us back to a certain.
point in our lives and bring us to like certain memories, you know, and that's why we become
such fans of them.
This is an experience.
Listen, you were into him.
He was into you.
Just because you don't end up together, it was all good.
This was not an ugly divorce.
It was like we gave it everything we had.
No, it was time.
We need to rebuild and you deserve, by the way, you deserve a good place to go.
So we're going to send you to Houston and they're well run and well owned.
I mean, it's like that's about as well as it works.
Yeah.
It really does.
It really was.
So Derek Henry has been a force to be reckoned with this season,
winning the regular season rushing title with 1,540 yards.
And Ravens defensive coordinator, Don Martindale,
even compared him to a video game in preparation for tomorrow's matchup.
He's like one of those guys that kids create on Madden.
You shouldn't be that big and be able to run like he runs.
Obviously, you know, we're going to have to bring her lunch pail work at
and just go play football with him because that's what,
That's what Mike Gravel is doing with him.
You know, they're just running the ball.
Our lunch, pale, and work hat.
Love that one.
He's right.
He's big.
He is just a force.
Look at this.
When he's running, that's two.
He kind of reminds me a little bit of.
Okay, look how small that linebacker is.
Right.
So remember the video we were shown of Eric Dickerson the other day?
Yes.
Like Derek Henry is bigger than Eric was.
Now watch this video for our FS1.
Sorry, radio guys.
Watch.
Not this one.
one, but watch linebackers in the next video.
Now look how small the Jacksonville linebacker looks right here.
Because he's huge and he runs standing up.
He runs tall.
Like how Marshawn Lynch is low and just pounds through and runs right through you.
He just, once he gets going, he's, he's impossible.
He really is.
He's a force.
He was 34 carries 182 yards in a rushing touchdown against New England.
And again, I'm taking the Ravens to win this game.
But I do think that he, he is the X factor, obviously.
for the Titans and how they start the game,
especially with him, really matters.
But he's just been so fun to watch this year, too.
Just really exciting player.
Finally, LSU takes on Clemson on Monday night
for the national title.
Very excited to watch this game.
Former LSU Tiger Odell Beckham, Jr.
is trying to pump up his team.
So he sent each LSU player new beats headphones.
Can you do that?
And a note that why not?
That's not illegal or anything, NCAA?
It doesn't bother me at all.
I mean, he's not a coach.
He's not.
I don't see why not.
So you can send...
I don't know.
It's on Twitter, so...
Who did this for Ohio State?
I guess you're allowed to do it now.
Who did this, John?
LeBron did that for Ohio State.
Okay, so you can do that.
Yeah, I guess so.
It should be allowed.
Why wouldn't it?
That's, I don't know, whatever.
Anyway, he sent them beats headphones, really nice ones.
And then he sent a note said,
this is your opportunity to leave behind a legacy
and write yourself into the history books,
not just as the undefeated national champions,
but as legends.
You're here for a reason.
Now make it count.
Best of Luck men, hashtag go tigers.
I like that.
I'm surprised that's legal because are the NCAA and gifts, they get very Jurassic.
They're very archaic.
They do get kind of crazy about it, but I don't think that this is, I think, I think once you get to, they get all kinds of gifts once they get to the national championship and all these bowl games.
They get bags and stuff, as they should.
So what?
It's headphones.
It's not that big.
You're right.
They do give a bunch of swag bags at ball games.
So LSU is six-point favorites, according to Fox Bet right now for this game.
So I get a, I get Clemson and six points.
Yeah, I think I'm going to, I think LSU's going to win this game.
So I get the better coaching staff and the better quarterback and six points.
It's debatable.
Could be one of the great bets in the history of college football.
I'm very excited for this game, though.
I think it's going to be an all-time great game.
Yeah, so I.
Yeah.
Good stuff, Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lide news.
This weekend is just nothing.
I'm going to work out.
after the show today because all I'm going to do all weekend is sit and eat.
By the way, I watched a crazy documentary last night.
That's right.
Yeah, we can't say the word on air.
Don't.
It's about cats.
Don't mess with cats.
Holy crow, I watched three and a half hours of it.
Is it make you feel, so I have very limited TV watching time available.
Yes, I didn't watch.
Sports and naps and working out, meeting.
I just don't have a lot of time.
So I always pick one show.
So I'm watching you right now.
Yeah.
And then I'm going to get on to power, finish power.
But I've heard a lot about this documentary.
So does it make you feel sad afterwards, though?
Because I don't like to feel sad.
No, no.
The conclusion is a good conclusion.
Well, I mean, it's as good a conclusion as you can have for a sad story.
But you don't feel like, no.
I didn't see.
They don't show the cat stuff.
Not much.
Yeah, just look up the cat show.
It's heavy, though.
Oh, no, it's heavy.
It is a whirlitzer on your back.
And you just finished, was the other show you were watching?
Servant.
Servant.
That's all sorts of weird.
All right.
Eric Dickerson, who's not, is joining us coming up.

One of the great running backs of all time, a Hall of Famer. Eric Dickerson, bring him on the show,
brought to you by Mercedes Benz, the best or nothing. You're sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, my friend.
Classy. Classy. Yes, I had a Mercedes-Benz once upon a time.
Oh, you should get another one. They're beautiful.
If you're buying them, I'll take it.
Let me, I want to talk before we get into the games,
I do want to ask you about because Tom Brady loves football.
Loves it.
Let me ask you.
Did you want to retire?
That's a good question, Colin, kind of because the NFL has since made me not like football anymore,
but I still loved it in my heart.
Because when I first got to, I loved everything about football.
I loved the smell.
When you go out, you can smell, I knew that I said, it's football season.
You just mess.
You can smell the grass.
I just loved everything about it.
I even love practice because I practiced hard.
I mean, I feel like I had some of my best moves in practice.
And when I look at Tom, I think the same thing.
He loves football.
He loves it.
I mean, it's nothing you're going to do in your life.
Right now, there's nothing in my life that has ever taken place of football.
Really?
Nothing.
Nothing has replaced the love?
Nothing.
Not at all.
Matter of fact, I had a thing we did last year at the Super Bowl for the Hall.
And so those five guys on the panel
And, you know, they asked us all the Hall of Famers, you know,
what are you doing that, you know, that you love, you know, after football?
And all the guys, and he gave political answers.
And I say, hey, I'm going to be honest with you.
I said, me, nothing.
I say, my love for football has nothing.
And I was hoping something would take that away, but still nothing has ever replaced it.
No, I tell my wife all the time, I love broadcasting.
I was into radio, not as much sports.
I just love it.
Now, imagine if you were CEO of a company and say, well,
big company and you're making a lot of money, but would you, would you be able to feel the same
way about it?
No, I loved radio the way you did football.
I love prepping for our radio show.
You like it.
You just love everything about it.
Joy sees it every morning.
I'm more into the prepped on the show.
I love it.
All right, so let's go to the matchups.
I got a feeling you got some crazy upsets because you are crazy.
You still haven't eaten in like seven days.
I don't eat anything yet, no.
I'll eat tonight.
All right.
Of course you will.
You'll have a frosted flake, one, cut it in half.
All right, Vikings.
Niners.
Eric, what do you think?
Well, I know everyone's going to take the Niners, and I hate the Niners.
I'm going with the Minnesota Vikings.
I think the Vikings have the team to beat the 49ers in San Francisco.
No pressure.
No one thought they could beat them, beat New Orleans at home.
And they went there, beat them.
Kirk Cousins played great.
Diggs played great.
This football team, I think, is prime for another.
I'm not going to say it's an upset.
I think they're going to beat San Francisco.
I think they're a better football team.
For the record, Jimmy G's never been in a playoff.
game. Nope. That's pressure too. This is really
Jimmy G's first year when you look at it. It really is because he got hurt last year.
No, you're right. This is his first year. This is really his first year.
And the pressure, by the way, it's not on Kirk Cousins.
No, he just had the best play of his career.
He won a playoff game.
I mean, seriously, he may not win another, but the pressure's not on him. How about
Titans Ravens?
Well, and I like big Derek Henry, the way he runs the football.
He looks like you.
big guy, but I have to go to Baltimore Ravens.
I mean, I don't think the league has not figured them out yet.
They haven't had enough time.
And I think people say, well, you know, they've had three weeks off,
but I don't think it means anything.
I think they'll come right back and just get right back in the rhythm.
I'm taking the Baltimore Ravens in that game.
I think the Niners are the only team in the league,
maybe a little Kansas City that matches up with them.
I also think they've given Derek Henry,
how many games in a row?
He's had two with over 30 carries.
I think six, six games in a row.
You know what, though, Colin.
If you're that kind of, I was that kind of back.
I didn't want 15, 18, 20 carries.
I wanted those 30 carries, 32, 37.
So you can do it back to back?
Oh, I won't forget.
We played Chicago in 80, was 86.
And after the Super Bowl, played him in Chicago on a Monday night football game.
We beat them.
I think I had 32 carries.
We go to New Orleans.
We were flying over to New Orleans that night.
Because we're not coming back to L.A.
And John Robinson asked me and said, can you do it again?
I knew what he was getting at.
I said, do what?
can you carry 30 times again?
I think we might need you to do it.
I said, I can do it.
I say, just let me take a day off and practice.
I can just go run drill.
He said, okay, you got it.
So I did it again.
Hydrate.
All right, Texans have a chance to beat Kansas City?
They beat him before, didn't he?
Did they beat him early in the end?
So you like Houston here?
I like Houston.
If they have willful in that game,
and I know he's, I think, a game-time decision
because he really opens the field up for Deontie Hopkins.
I mean, John D.J. Hopkins. I just, I like the Texans.
I mean, I know that the offensive line isn't great.
Kansas City is not going to get the same pressure on Watson as Buffalo Bills did.
So, you know, I'm taking the Texans. And I'm from Texas.
By the way, a lot of pressure on the homes.
All the pressures on my homes, no pressures on Watkins at all.
Because everybody expects my homes to win. This is they expect.
I mean, they expect Andy Reid, you know, he's at home, playoff game.
but I'm taking the Texans.
Finally, Seattle and Green Bay.
I love me some Russell Wilson.
Can he pull up?
I know you love Russell Wilson to death.
You know, and I love Aaron Rogers.
I think Aaron Rogers has, you know,
what John Elway finally get at the end of his career,
a running game.
You know, they have a running.
People forget that.
Yeah, when you can run the run,
the run sets up everything.
And you might think that you're going to get rid of the run,
but the run, you have to run the football.
And they have a running game, great defense at home.
It's going to be like 20 degrees there.
I'm taking the Green Bay Packers.
By the way, I want to go back to San Francisco and Minnesota because that's the first game of the weekend.
When Garapolo, we always talk about, you know, this guy doesn't earn his money, he didn't deserve his money.
You know, it's funny, Eric, you get drafted in the NFL.
We're going to pay Joe Burrow, Tua, and Justin Herbert, and they've never taken a snap in the NFL.
Garopolo was 7 and 0 with two smart coaches, kind of a good-looking, confident guy.
and I was like, I remember saying I would pay him.
I look good.
Well, I mean, I just think he played with a certain swagger.
I mean, I saw him in the New England system.
He figured it out.
He was Brady except mobile.
Did you think he would work?
Yeah, I did.
I thought he'd work in San Francisco.
I really believe that Bill Belichick did him a great favor.
I mean, just like Tom Brady and Robert Crafter-Tight,
Belichick and Garoppolo are tight and Shanahan.
And so that move was a take for Bill Belichick, take care of my guy over here.
I'm going to send him to you, Shanahan, you take care of.
You know what I thought?
I honestly thought this.
Bill Belichick has great reverence for the game, history, that he respects Mike Shanahan
and he did Mike Shanahan's son a solid.
I absolutely believe that.
Yeah, he did.
Because you know Belichick loves the history of the sport.
Oh, most definitely.
And Shanahan is one of the most innovative, offensive guys ever.
And I thought, I mean, all they had to give up for Garoppolo was a second round pick.
A second round pick.
Okay, you couldn't get more than that.
I honestly think he did him a faith.
I'll get you to the other conference.
And it's a respect to Shanahan.
As you said, you did him a favor.
Because most teams, like, they want to send you to Siberia.
They're not trying to help you.
They're trying to hurt you.
I mean, so it just shows the respect that Bill Belichick has for Shanahan and for Garapolo.
So do you think the Rams were trying to hurt you to send you to the Colts?
You think?
He said it.
He said, I want to see you.
I want to see you to Siberia.
They sent me out there.
I came like, it was close.
It was on the edge of Siberia.
I was looking over the cliff.
Come on.
Give me a break.
Indianapolis.
You know, it used to be called Naphtown because it was so boring.
But it's good.
They've shorted up a little bit.
Like when you would go out to Indianapolis for the night, what would you do?
Let me tell you a story about Indianapolis.
Okay, we got 30 seconds.
We got 30 seconds.
Okay.
The first time I'd ever seen a clip.
Man rally.
Oh, come on, Eric.
It was downtown in the other.
Okay, that's all I need to know.
That's all you need to know.
That's all.
But I didn't get me wrong.
It was things about indie I did like.
But I wasn't ready for that.
My uncle called and say, hey, turn the television on.
Oh, boy.
And he said, turn it on.
I said, what's on?
He said, you'll see.
Oh, boy.
So, there you go.
Got a nice Panera bread downtown.
Hour three, Will Blackman coming up.

Sunday, Russell Wilson leads the Seahawks in the Lambo for a showdown against Aaron
Rogers and the Packers in the NFC divisional round.
It all starts at 6 Eastern on Fox and the Fox Sports app.
Colin, one of the questions for this week's Super 6 NFL playoff contest is, which team will
win and by how many points, who do you like in this game?
Packers 2723.
Well, Russell Wilson doesn't have any weapons anymore except D.K. Metcalfe.
Look, let's hear a round of applause.
Will Blackman?
Ten years in the NFL.
Super Bowl champ got his pin.
You are a semi-wine Somalié at the Beverly Four Seasons.
Let me see the pin.
It's very impressive.
I got both pins from the Court of Massa Somalié and the Wine and Spirit's Education Charis.
I'm pinned up right now.
That is sweet.
So let's put some sophisticated food music on.
Let's play a little game, Wine Somalié, almost a wine-sumoye.
Hold on.
It's very sophisticated.
Excuse me.
I'm a matre d.
Can I have a seat?
Somalié will.
I'm having scallops.
Sea scallops from the Atlantic.
What would you recommend to drink tonight?
Well, since you like the ocean atmosphere,
and you want something that has some limestone
and all kinds of fossilization,
maybe the Chablis from Burgundy.
Oh, it's very interesting.
Or some Savian Blanc would be great, too.
I've changed my order.
I want a pork chop.
Somelier will.
What would you recommend for the pork chop?
Well, anytime we get something like that,
you know, possibly you can go some Pinot Noir.
And I heard Joy likes rabbit.
I love rabbit.
Pinoir as well.
Or a northern Rome style like Saraw would be some.
Very sophisticated.
Thank you, wine, Somalié Will.
That's very impressive.
That's very impressive.
That's, dude, it was hard, especially like the pairing part.
I'd tell you, the coolest thing I did at the exam is I stood up and offered to do a complete blind taste.
Blind tasting.
And I called it.
It was Barossa.
It's Shiraz, not Shiraz.
It's Shiraz, Australia.
But I said 2017, it was 2016.
Holy good Lord.
I can't tell Coke from Diet Coke.
I can't believe you can do that.
That's unbelievable.
I'll show you.
All right, that's fine.
Okay, let's start with this.
Didn't you play for Mike McCarthy?
I believe you did.
Four years.
Okay, so let's deep dive for cowboy fans.
Did you enjoy it?
I did enjoy it.
What did you like about Mike?
His integrity.
Let's talk about that.
Yeah.
I just thought that he had a plan when he was hired in 2006, same year I was drafted.
So I was part of that.
You were his guy. I was one of his guys. Yeah. And we also signed Charles Woods in that season two.
And I just like the fact that he had a plan. And if there was an issue, he was able to confront the issue and handle it.
So the first thing I remember in the meeting, he would always say, he would say conflict is good.
And the reason why is because it gives us a chance to understand each other more.
It doesn't have to be an argument like, you know, cussing each other out and saying this and that.
But if there's a situation, that means like we're trying to understand and figure it out.
So I remember, you know, there were a couple times where with Charles Woodson that they had a bunch of arguments either in training camp or because Charles wanted to do things a certain way.
And they were able to eventually find a common ground where Charles understood like, okay, let me, he's expecting this out of me.
So enough to gain his respect.
You know, somebody he already had a great pedigree.
So he had coaching integrity.
You trusted him?
I did.
His word was a bond.
His word was a bond.
That's great.
Not all coaches are like that.
Hell no.
There's a lot of guys out there.
There's some car salesmen in the business.
I mean, selling used cars would fake mileage on it.
Mike wasn't that guy.
No.
Now, you think he'll be good with Dak.
I think he'll be great with Dak.
And I went on record on Fox Sports Radio Sundays with Mike Harmon.
And I went on saying, I think that would be.
be a great fit for him. To go there, you got a coach with great prestige going to, you know,
an iconic place in Dallas. And I think it's great. And I feel like with his experience and his
coaching with Farr and Rogers, I think it would be great for him to obviously show the film and help
DAC out because I think that's what DAC needs. I thought he needs someone like McCarthy.
I've been asking all of our guests this today. I do think Number Show,
Tom Brady is a little more rigid than he's ever been.
I saw the other day Carson Palmer said, you know, he can't hit those dig routes.
He just can't make certain throws.
I do think it's a perfect time to retire.
He's not going to.
What do you think keeps driving him?
It's not the money, right?
It is definitely not the money.
It's the love.
Did you love the sport?
Yes.
And it's funny because I was really obsessing, kind of a little bit psychotic when it came to the game.
Like if somebody wanted to play football, let's go.
Someone wanted to work out and train.
Like, let's go.
When I was in London for two months, I contacted one of the local pro teams because I know they have like, you know, passing league seven-on-seven games.
And I brought my cleats with me to London and I played.
You love football.
Obsessed.
But you were able.
Eric Dickerson says he's never found anything to replace it.
You have found, beyond your family, you found wine.
Yes.
And in one of my men's group, Jim Loretts, former baseball player for Yankees.
He's in my group.
Jim Lerich.
We talked about that.
And the hardest thing I mentioned before is to transition into the league to find your way
and transition out of the league to find your way again.
So what else am I going to be passionate about?
The easiest bet from most players, they do what?
They go coach, right?
That's right.
They already know the game.
They go coach.
And for me, it end up legit.
I know we joke around about it, but wine is for real.
Oh, right.
I die hard.
You're a mile deep into it.
Yes.
And that has been the hugest thing.
Because for me, when I was, you know, even getting into TV, I helped coach at a high school.
I do combine training right now.
And there's a lot of stuff that I can do.
But it's like, man, what is the one thing?
Because if I can't find it, guess what?
I'm going to keep playing.
I'm going to keep trying to play.
Listen, I started playing tennis.
I told my wife I was getting home at 1.
And I go to bed at 9, 45 to 10.
And I'm like, I got to find a hobby.
And I got into tennis.
You watch some videos.
You read a couple books.
You start playing.
Otherwise, you're sitting around all day.
Yeah.
Having cocktails at 145.
Lose in my line.
Lose in your mind.
All right, let's talk about the game.
I thought he should retire last year.
No, I get it.
I think he had his worst year, and I think some of it is not the receiver's fault.
Some of it's Tom.
Let me ask you about this.
Okay, so when I say Niners, Vikings, how is the game going to look?
The game is going to look where Kyle Shane has going to continue to use every single person on offense.
Everyone's going to touch the football.
Every runner back is going to touch the football.
Every receiver, every tight end.
and it's just going to be too much.
They're going to come out with 10,000s of formations,
and it's really going to throw Minnesota off.
Did you ever face a team that was complex that gave you multiple looks?
Yeah, it was the Patriots.
It was the Patriots.
And did it confuse you?
It made me work way harder during the week,
because they could come out in a formation,
let's say 11 personnel.
That's three receivers, right?
And they can come out with, you know,
maybe 23 personnel, which is two tight-ins and, you know, three runnerbacks and line up like
it's four wide. So guess what? You got a bunch of linebackers who have the cover in space,
you know? So I think the teams that have multiple formations is very, very difficult.
Playing against Peyton Manning was not difficult because he didn't give you much.
But that's why I respect him so much because he will line up. He didn't motion anybody.
Yeah. And he will call out that. We knew if he was, if Peyton Man was under center, it's a run.
if he's shotgun, it's a pass.
So he had a lot of information.
He told you, you already knew, but he's still executed.
He wasn't trying to trick you.
No, Payne had like six plays.
Yeah, people told me Joe Montana and the Niners.
Everybody talked about the West Coast offense,
and I had a safety once for the Raiders tell me,
I knew what they were doing.
I still couldn't stop it.
He goes, they were so efficient and so precise,
I still couldn't stop it.
So we played Denver, and Payton was so getting mad trying to get the
auditors out.
And Demarius Thomas was like, what, what?
He's like, Demarius, run a freaking go route.
You just got a go route.
And I'm like, are you kidding me?
You're just going to tell him?
I'm standing right here.
You got to tell him he's running?
I was like, I don't believe it.
Go route.
Caught the damn ball too.
That is funny.
I couldn't believe it.
Well, efficiency, the element of surprise helps, but ultimately you can't fool people.
But I think the complexity will give Minnesota issues.
And then for Kurt to come back would be tough.
Ravens Titans, how does that game going to look?
This game is very, very interesting.
I'm not going to ever bet against Lamar,
but if there was going to be an upset,
I can see it.
I can see this being the game.
I look back, you know,
the Cleveland game where, you know,
Chubb had over 160 less Russian.
Cleveland took Baltimore totally out of their comfort zone.
And Lamar was forcing it,
had some turnovers.
I can see that happen.
But I just,
I've seen what it looks like when teams start having fun
and having lots of success.
And nothing.
bothers them. What do you mean? With Baltimore.
Like every single person in the organization from Bashadi to the groundskeeper,
everyone is in. Everyone has bought in. Everyone's on the same page. Everyone is
holding each other accountable. And you see it. It doesn't matter who's in the game.
That's why I said they remind me of Carolina with Cam in 2015. There was a certain
tsunami. It was just like they believed in it. Yeah. They were new. The league was trying to
kind of figure Cam out. Right. They were held.
They got hot.
I want to say that's, that is, you took the words rid of my mouth.
They were healthy.
Yes.
That was the biggest thing.
Yeah.
By the end of the year, it matters.
It does.
Texans, Chiefs, any chance at an upset?
Andy Reid's good off a buy.
Yeah, I don't, I don't see it being an upset, especially watching the game with the
bills.
I just feel like Kansas City has way too much on offense, way too much.
But Deshaun is going to do everything in this power to keep them in the game, but I just feel like this is going to get out of hand early.
You know, a lot of people feel that Kansas City's in.
interesting because Andy Reid, if you just take everybody's eight best players, Kansas City,
you can make an argument way up there from Mahomes, Tyreek, Travis Kelly, Kelsey, Chris Jones,
Chris Jones, Frank Clark. Actually, Honey Badger's a fascinating player. I had a NFL scout tell me
one time about Honey Badger who's come over to the Chiefs. He said he's a weird player. He doesn't
thump like a safety. No. He
can't cover your best guy. He said, his tape is amazing out of LSU.
Yes.
He's the most instinctive secondary player I've ever seen.
Ed Reed, he goes, the ball's loose. It bounces right into Honeybadger's arms.
He's at the right place. Ed Reed had that.
He's in the Ed Reed and Charles Woodson category.
Always in the right.
There's a video of Charles Wilson and Ed Reed at the Browns game versus the bills.
and Josh Allen throws the ball away, it hits Charles right in the chest.
He's watching the game on the sidelines.
So he catches it and he runs the other way.
And so the video of him at Eri, they were talking.
He was like, I know what to do with it when I get it.
It always happens.
I totally agree.
And I think, too, I know the numbers that doesn't show how successful they are,
but just situational bringing the Honey Badger and Steve Spagnola, a championship coach.
Yeah. Yeah.
And finally, Seattle Green Bay.
I would love Seattle, if they're.
Penny was healthy and Carlson was healthy.
If their backs were healthy.
That is my point. Yeah.
Carson, I would love it.
I think if Seattle's run game was intact, plus they lost pro-size, they're out of people.
You know, they had 17 carries for 19 yards against Philadelphia.
So I just think Seattle's out of people.
That's where the game went how it went.
It was tough.
It was super tough.
Do you think they can beat Green Bay?
If they can't run the ball, I don't think so.
I think if Russell sits back then and tries to go shot for Charlotte and Roger, he'll lose that battle.
Yeah. So it's great to have you in. Josh McDaniels is going to get the Cleveland Brown's job. What do you make of that?
That's for sure, for sure.
Well, I'm just reading Mary Kay Cabot. She's a reporter. She said if the interview goes well, his wife's there, he's from Ohio. And you know what? He's got, you know, certain franchises in America are what I call low sports self-esteem. They reach.
Yeah.
And they were turned on by Baker's cockiness.
These kind of franchises are turned on by the cocky coach and the cocky quarterback.
They were turned on by Johnny Mansell's foolishness.
They were turned on by Baker.
I feel like they were starving.
They need something.
Low self-esteem franchises, you know, like, I mean, Buffalo, give us T.O.
We love T.O.
And I think Josh McDaniels, the hubris, the cockiness, he fits Cleveland.
It'll work.
I don't know if it'll work.
Fill the seats.
It'll do something.
The cockiness is what you're talking about.
I like this.
And I think it might be a package deal
because I think Nick Casario's contract is up to.
Do you know him?
He's the GM of the Patriots?
Yes.
And I think his deal is up because there was rumors of him talking to...
Boy, Belichick hates Cleveland.
They fired him.
And they take his guys.
Take his GM and his offensive coordinator.
And I think this will be the first person
with credentials that Baker would listen to.
Hopefully.
And because,
Hugh, you know, I can listen to Hugh.
They put in Freddie, he still feels like he was above Freddie.
No question.
He's like he's above a lot of people.
And I think this is the one coach, McDaniels, where he would come in.
And he's like, okay, he coached Tom Brady for a long time.
Yeah.
You know, under Bill.
I can put myself in a situation where I can possibly sit down and I will listen.
Can we have sophisticated music again for Will Blackman, almost a wine, Somalia?
Almost a wine, Somalia.
I'm having a New York strip, medium rare,
with horse radish
tonight with some
Brussels sprouts
finely fried.
What could I have
Mr. Blackman?
Well, it depends.
You know, if the strip
has any kind of fat on it,
which it probably won't.
A little marbling.
A little marbling.
But a great wine
that goes with steak
of the ribby or strip
with some marbling on it,
you want a high tanic wine
like a cabernet or a Merlot.
Because what happens is that
the fat cuts through the tannins
and balance it out
to make it really smooth.
Chaudet.
What is this accent?
Pino Gris.
He eats at fancy places in his normal voice, so I don't know.
I'm going to go to Burger King after the show.
You kidding me?
I'm easy to please, bud.
Will Bucman.
It's great seeing you.
Cab with the burger.
Cab with the burger, too.
Pinoir actually goes well with salmon.
People don't know that.
It does.
By the way, Michelin Endurance X-D Silicon Wiper Blades,
available at Walmart.
Real World Proven,
two times longer than other blades.
Enjoy with the news.
Thank you.
No.
No.
Turn on the news.
This is the Herdline News.
You're really going to Herdberger after work.
Yeah, we have beers and wines.
I had wine at Herberger.
Yeah.
I had a wine at Herberger.
Yeah.
I have a Colin Cowanardt Herdberger in Torrance.
It's very nice.
But you have wine there.
Yeah, we have everything.
Dude, come on.
Cocktails, beer, wine.
That's the whole license.
Ice cream's amazing.
It's amazing.
It's very nice this weekend.
So, Tunga, Lowe is expected to be a high draft pick this year.
but not everyone is sold on his future.
Ryan Leif said he thinks that Tua is talented,
but he's not sure how successful he'll be in the NFL.
He's done everything in college to make you believe he's going to be a great quarterback.
I just, for whatever reason, don't know if his game translates to the next level.
And there's nothing against the kid.
I think he's amazing.
He throws the ball more accurately down the field than I think I've ever seen a quarterback in college.
To your point a little bit earlier, the game's changing.
It's more about getting outside the pocket, doing things differently.
And every time he did do that, he got pulled down, he got chased down, he got injured.
And that for me is a red flag.
It just is.
You all, the injury is a real thing.
It's a real thing.
It doesn't scare me off, but I think it scares some people off.
The injuries scared me before this major injury with Tua.
I was already a little hesitant.
And then this bigger injury happened.
I was always, the LSU game really changed it.
I thought he played at about 60% and I thought he was great.
He was great.
That was kind of a moment for me, an epiphany.
I'm like, okay, I like him.
I think with you, I just want him to go somewhere where he's not expected to come in and start day one and be the guy day one.
And the way that the draft is looking and the way that's set up right now, he probably won't have to do that.
And there are enough veteran quarterbacks that are going to be available and moving around.
How about to go to Carolina moves up and they have Kyle Allen for about eight games, just like Lamar.
Or they keep Cam. Cam is not expensive this year. Keep Cam for another year. How would Cam like his
heir apparent being in the building? I don't know if that's sick. Beat him out. Play great. Put them in a position
where they have to make a tough decision. Look at how insecure Brady got with Garapolo and he's got a zillion
rings. Sometimes you know, quarterbacks are. Insecurity is a waste of time. Okay.
Totally agree on that. Nobody should have time for that. Just go out and do what you do.
But I think if he, I think if he goes to the chargers, it could be a little tricky,
because there's a lot of politics going on with the Chargers.
Like, is he going to have to play right away?
They have to sell tickets.
You know, like how are the fans going to respond to him not being the guy?
So I'd like to see Tua go somewhere where he can just wait a year,
make sure he's 1,000% healthy.
How about Indianapolis moves up?
Jacoby Brissette one year later.
I like him in Indy.
I think that would be a good spot for him.
I'm rooting for Tua.
And I think his personality would fit with kind of the Colts.
Dilfer tells me he's the best personality of any quarterback he's ever out in camp.
He was the one kid that elevated above every other kid in terms of leadership, likability,
players loved him.
See, that's why I don't really necessarily love him with the dolphins, because I feel like another year with Fitzpatrick,
like he's going to sit behind Fitzpatrick.
They're going to be calling for him halfway through the season.
I think somebody's going to jump.
I honestly, Joy, I've told you this.
I think I think somebody's jumping in number two.
I don't think the Chargers, the Colts, Carolina, are rolling the dice.
I think they're moving right up to two.
No, he's not going to, there's no way.
He falls out of the top 10 in the draft.
No way.
Remember when a month ago everybody said Tua was going to fall out of the first round?
Nonsense.
That's silly.
All right.
So no one knows what free agent Tom Brady is going to do next season.
Peter King has had a lot of thoughts on what could happen with New England and Tom Brady.
But he thinks it's going to depend a lot on the weapons he has around him.
My gut feeling is that Tom Brady is going to put a premium on what he has around.
them. If you would compare Mike Williams, Austin Echler, Hunter Henry, and Keenan Allen,
you compare that set of talent right now to what the New England Patriots have. It's really not
very close. I think the surrounding cast is going to end up probably being a little bit more
important than money. I don't know why money would be the priority for Tom Brady at this point.
Well, guys are you, but this is where you're a woman that you're very smart. Guys, you know, that's a
guy thing. Guys are all
guys are judged by sometimes earnings and
professional career.
In hundreds of millions of dollars. I know, but
it's, you've heard this before. Gotta
show me respect.
I mean, that would just be weird.
Well, sometimes we are.
Mostly, we are formidable and decent.
Most of the time, actually. I mean, that
just makes no sense to me. Like, him
making a move so that he has a better roster
makes perfect sense if he wants to keep playing.
going where he can make the most money.
Well, but I'm saying is at the end of my career, let's say 17 years from now.
Yeah, but have you ever felt like you've left, have you left $100 million on the table?
I would not leave a nickel on the table.
Exactly.
So that doesn't make any sense.
Like, if you're leaving all this money on the table during your career, when you deserve to get paid the highest
and you could easily be paid the highest, that makes sense.
That, to me, is when you play that ego move, like, I deserve respect, I deserve that much money.
Finally, Aaron Rogers has lots of postseason experience, but a majority of his teammates
don't. 31 of the 52 players on the Packers roster have never played in a playoff.
That seems so much younger than I thought.
Crazy. So Rogers offered them a little piece of advice.
Poise. I think it's important to find that calm in your mind in these games because it seems
so much bigger. Obviously, it's more important because the winner go home, which the first 16
of the season are like that. But a great opportunity to learn how to keep your friends.
boys and to stay calm and to find that relaxed flow state in the game. I think the team that
does it quicker and sustains it is usually a team that wins. You know, let me give some respect for
Aaron Rogers here. Show that video when he's talking again. He has great hair, but still wears a
hat on camera, showing that he's not that vain. If you have, if I had hair like Aaron Rogers,
I wouldn't let a hat come next to it. He is a good looking man with a great head of hair.
You see it in the commercials. He's very hip, but yet he doesn't care. He doesn't want to show
his hair. He's like, I'll just wear a packer hat. I like that about Aaron Rogers. I would
literally never think that. I'm about to turn the tide on that. That's him wearing his hat.
And he's not wearing it backwards. We know how you feel about backwards hats. He's a model,
because he looks like a model. He wears a hoodie and a packer hat. He's got the best. What's he's
supposed to come out with a shirt with his? Cliff King's. Have you ever seen Cliffs Kingsbury?
He doesn't let a hat near his head. He's like, look at my hair. It's amazing.
I mean, this is a deep psychological guy. I'm telling you.
you right now. This is showing me. That's showing me about Aaron Rogers. He is all into that community
and that team. I mean, I suppose if he came out in like a button down shirt down to his stomach
Philadelphia, visor. Look at my hair. It's amazing. I'm older. It's gray, but it's amazing.
I, well, maybe he's getting humbled towards the end of his chair. I'm going to take the Packers
to cover. You think I'm crazy. That's the kind of crap. I don't think you're crazy. I just never, I've never
thought of that. Like, I've never
You know, guys, when you have
good hair, it's like a guy that has muscles.
You wear a tight shirt. If
you're smart, you want to show everybody
your IQ. If you're funny, you crack
jokes. Guys have to show what they're good at.
When you have that kind of hair
and you're willing to put a hat on and cover.
He also is, you know, widely
considered the most talented or
one of the most talented quarterbacks of all time.
So, he does
do that every week. So maybe
the hair thing isn't as important to him.
it. Packers and a blowout.
I really like it.
I really found that. Nobody else in the country
saw that. You're not going to get that
in a lot of these rinky dink shows at the other place.
This show, we uncover, we get the scoops
here. Nobody talks about this but
us. Jason McIntyre, Joy
with the News. Well, that's
the news. And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd Live News. Tomorrow's headlines
today. It's the goofy
segment and I love it. That's coming up.
Be sure to catch live editions of the Hurd,
weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.
on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app.
Let's now waste any time.
It's called Tomorrow's Headlines.
Today, the former newspaper guy McIntyre creates the headlines.
So let's do tomorrow's headlines.
Today we've got five games.
Let's start with Clemson, LSU, one of the best college finals ever.
What say you?
You had a beef with Dabo Sweeney a couple years ago.
Not anymore.
You guys are cool now.
I believe the headline will be Swinning Dabo Sweeney.
think Clemson beats LSU, Colin.
So do I mean, this is, I'm very excited for this game.
We're going to try to watch it together.
Dabo Sweeney would have now three titles.
That puts him in that upper echelon of like all-time great coaches in college football.
And I'm just obsessed with this Trevor Lawrence versus Joe Burrow matchup.
I had to do this video for Fox Sports where I kind of matched them up and I said,
I think Trevor Lawrence is the better quarterback.
Oh, by far.
And people are killing me online.
Joe Burrow, 55 touchdowns.
Trevor Lawrence, what he just did to Ohio State, I mean, do you realize that was
one of the best big 10 teams in like the last decade.
Joel Clat.
I mean, this is a great team they beat.
And Trevor Lawrence, you know, 25 and O is a starter.
They have a 29 game win streak.
Here's a fun stat that I just heard.
This could be the most bet college football game ever in the history of the sport.
And 85% of the monies on LSU.
Give me Clemson.
Thank you.
Tomorrow's headlines today, Vikings Niners.
Yeah, this feels like a throwback game.
Remember these good series they had in like the late,
80s, Chris Dolman for the Vikings, and they're going to need him.
I believe the headline will be Cousins Diggs his own playoff grave.
Hey, what's up with Stefan Diggs?
He's mad.
What is that?
And now he's sick.
He's yelling at his quarterback last week.
Unhappy, he's not getting passes.
Now he's under the weather.
And Adam Thielen, his wingman, cuts his ankle at practice, not 100%.
I think this is a 49er spot big right here.
Jimmy Garapolo.
We know the history of quarterbacks in their first playoff game.
Not very good, but Garoppolo matches up well with this Vikings defense.
I think the 49ers are the side here, Colin.
I really believe their defensive line has a huge advantage over the Vikings O line.
And they get D. Ford back.
Yep.
Great pass rusher on the edge.
Tomorrow's headlines today, Titans Ravens.
Ah, yes.
The MVP, Lamar Jackson, he's going to run wild here.
The headline will be Lamar's attacks.
I know you saw that funny 1990s movie.
This is a setting up for a great Lamar Jackson performance.
You love the analogy of Mike Tyson.
When you face Mike Tyson, just get out of the first three rounds.
The Titans have not seen Lamar Jackson before.
There's going to be a shock to the system when they go up against him.
And even if Mark Ingram's not 100%.
I believe Lamar Jackson has a monster game.
If you look at how the Titans defend tight ends, one of the bottom 10 teams defensively,
they just struggle to guard them.
What does Lamar Jackson do uses his tight ends more than anybody in the league?
I know it's a very chalky pick, but I like the Ravens here, big, taking down the Titans.
Tomorrow's headlines today, Texans, Chiefs in Kansas City.
Love a good rematch, right?
This should be a good one.
Maybe, maybe not.
I believe the headline will be Sherlock Mahomes gets revenge on Dr. Watson.
Look at that photo.
How about the graphics team here?
Shout out to them.
Remember, they met earlier this year, and the Texans somehow won that game for like 200 yards.
But if you looked inside the stats,
I mean, Mahomes could not be stopped.
The key was the Chiefs couldn't stop the run.
They couldn't hold on to the football.
And, you know, the Texans come out with a lucky win.
You know, if you look at Bill O'Brien
in his last two playoff games, Colin,
they've been outscored in the first half, 34-0.
No, he's getting in shouting matches with fans.
I just saw that on TMZ sports.
Very ugly.
And Andy Reid, off a buy, 18 and 3.
So it's setting up for the Chiefs to put him away early.
Listen, this Chief's team is scary.
Honey Badger playing well.
Mahomes. I think they win this one handily.
By the way, they'd be underdogs at Baltimore,
which is an interesting place to be that good with that coach and be underdog.
Have you seen the line on that?
No, they'd be underdog. Baltimore is going to be fake.
All right, tomorrow's headlines today.
Seahawks Packers.
Game of the week in the NFL.
It's going to be on Fox.
You know I like my music, Colin.
We do love to bring some songs back.
Here we go.
The headline on Monday will be, I'm bringing Green Bay back.
Yeah.
You like that?
No, you don't know that.
Joy, you know that song.
What was it?
I'm bringing Green Bay back.
Justin Timberlake.
I'm bringing sexy back.
Thank you, Goulet.
Oh, Colin dancing.
I don't think I've ever seen that.
That's your jam, Colin?
Yeah, that's just my jam.
Well, he's very high on Green Bay now.
He should be.
I mean, I know you have a history with Aaron Rogers,
but this is a Seattle team that's so beat up.
Did you see four of their offensive linemen
have been in and out of practice this week?
Yeah.
And the Packers coming off a buy.
The problem with Green Bay and why the analytics
guys hate them is their numbers are not good.
They play down. They're not great at anything.
Even Aaron Rogers' passer rating is down.
Yeah, but he's got 26 TDs, I think, four picks.
When you look at, you know, the Packers against bad teams, they let them hang around,
they don't put them away against good teams, seven and one against the spread, teams with
winning records.
I don't think this is a close one.
I got a feeling, you know, the last two years home teams in this round are seven and one.
We could see four double-digit blowouts this weekend in the NFL.
It just doesn't feel like any of them are close.
Are you picking any dogs here?
I think Minnesota's got a good push, but no.
Yeah, I don't know.
It could be close.
My dog is Clemson, Monday, betting a lot.
All right, Jason McIntyre.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
