may be listening live in los angeles i heart radio fox sports radio and fs one we have a great
great show today joy taylor is joining me good morning good morning joey i'm going to the lakers game
tonight. I'm going to check in on LeBron and the Lakers tonight. Colin Goward, stepping out on the town.
Yes, I really am. I'm going to do a little dinner, wife, do some scouting. Oh, that's a fun date.
Yeah, it's a fun date. But it's work, labor intensive, Joy, for both of us. Joy and I are always on the
clock. So here we go. In the NFL dynasties end because of injuries and free agency. In the NBA,
dynasty's end because of egos.
So a couple nights ago,
Draymond Green had the ball.
Kevin Durant's open, end of a game
against the Clippers. You remember that.
And it's the last couple seconds and Kevin Durant
wants a ball and Draymond Green.
He can't get him the ball and he falls down.
Oh boy, it's just not very good.
The Star wanted it. Star didn't get it.
The best player wanted it. Best player didn't get it.
And then, and they went to the huddle
and they argued and it was ugly.
And there was a bunch of stuff said.
Some of it was personal, and Draymond apparently called out Kevin Durant his salary and his contract.
And the Warriors then suspended Draymond yesterday.
And they don't always suspend Draymond.
They almost never suspend Draymond.
They've been dealing with Draymond for years.
But they took Kevin Durant's side.
They took Kevin Durant's side because they knew Draymond and Kevin Durant have an issue.
And Kevin Durant can leave at the end of the year.
So Kevin Durant talked about it after the Warriors played again last night in B-Tox.
Here it is. Kevin, have you and Dremont been able to hash anything out?
No. Do you see that happening anytime soon?
I'm sure it will. We got a long season ahead.
Obviously, it's definitely weird not having them around and not just everything that went down.
But that's what happens.
Shit happens in the NBA.
And, you know, I just try to do my best to move on and be a basketball player.
I don't got nothing else to do, but to be the best player I can be every single day.
I try not to worry about nothing else.
sounds like it was no big deal
sounds like everybody's over it
ah the fabric's starting to tear near silicon valley is it not
all started with a couple of little arguments with Kobe and Shaq
Michael Jordan and Jerry Reinsdorf the big three in Boston
there's a couple little small arguments no big deal I'll get back to it
I had an NBA player text me last night he said
KD holds grudges.
Another NBA player
told Marcus Thompson a fine reporter,
KD has gone.
Bank on it.
This magnifies the truth about the
relationship with Kevin Durant and the Warriors.
It's always been
Steph's team.
That's why Kevin Durant is always trying to
prove to you, improve to me,
improve to Draymond,
improved to Twitter, improved to the media.
It's my team.
I got power here.
There's an old
saying the greatest sign of power is you never have to use it. Tony Soprano walked into a room.
It was understood. Roger Goodell, Jerry Jones, Stan Cronkey, big people in sports. You know,
they walk into rooms in Miami, in Dallas. You go to any city in the country. The guys with power
don't have to flex. It's understood. Steph Curry never flexes here. We all know. He never tries to prove
it's his team. It's understood.
He doesn't go on Twitter,
doesn't hold big press conferences.
He recruited Kevin Durrani.
He was so secure with himself.
This is Steph's team.
And Golden State and Kevin Durant
has always been an imperfect fit.
They won a title without him.
They beat him in the playoffs.
They set a regular season 73 win record without him.
And they had a unanimous MVP.
And it wasn't KD.
It would be like being the best.
actor in the world if you were Kevin Durant and you join a franchise that's already number one at
the box office and was started by somebody else and he's still in the movie too oh you're great in the
movie the franchise is better with you don't get me wrong you have made the franchise better
but dog they were number one in the box office without you and the guy who created it
a lot of people like him more anyway when you leave the room they like him more than you and
they think you're kind of flaky and insecure and they think he's secure and cool
And that's what we got here.
This Draymond, Kevin Durant, dust up.
You don't see this with Steph.
You ever notice that?
Clay and Steph, no dust up, Kerr, Bob Meyer, Drayma, nobody messes with Steph.
He changed the league.
This is his team.
And I feel bad for Kevin Durant because there's always been an agitation with this team.
Like when he came to the Warriors, sell out!
Couldn't win.
Without him.
So even if he goes to the finals and he's done this twice and he wins and he's the MVP.
So what?
He has to prove to the players around the league, the stars around the league, his owners are at it.
He's constantly trying to pursue this agitation that just hangs over Kevin Durant.
Look around the NBA.
The great teams become the personality of their superstar.
Magic.
Those Lakers, they were called Showtime.
Magic, fun, smiles, flashy.
They became Magic Johnson.
Tim Duncan's dynasty in San Antonio became him.
Unselfish.
Pass more, take less.
The Jazz and Carl Malone and John Stockton.
It was workman-like, just like their two stars.
Michael Jordan's Bulls, relentless, just like Mike.
And LeBron's teams, all of them.
They're all smart, just like him.
This Golden State Warrior franchise embodies all of Steph Curry's traits.
They're free-flowing.
They're fun.
They're clever.
They're finesse.
They're low-tension, high-performance.
And they're a little streaky.
If they embodied Kevin Durant's primary personality, they would be insecure.
agitated and kind of flaky.
Dremont and Kevin Durant, this is how dynasties die in the NBA.
In pro football, you lose some good assistance, guys get hurt like Philadelphia,
you enter the season, the Eagles aren't the same team, they were on crutches.
But in the NBA, what starts to tear the fabric, basketball's always been about the individual,
the entitled superstar, starts to, you know,
Now, ego, little fight, little brawl, little this, locker room, little tension.
The fabric's tearing.
It's coming to an end.
It may take a while.
But this was something.
Bigger, in fact, than most in the media understood two days ago.
Let me shift gears to this.
So it was announced yesterday officially.
Kind of a bummer because I think I speak for everybody, join myself.
I like watching great football players play.
I like to see guys.
I don't like to see quarterbacks hurt.
I think we would all agree with that.
Yeah, I like to see great players play.
So Lavian Bell officially is not going to play this year.
And I like Lavian Bell.
I had him on the show once.
He was awesome.
He's a great player.
He's just fun to watch.
I'd rather see all the great players play.
And I hate the fact that he gave up like $15 million.
But here's one thing Lavian Bell and a lot of pro athletes don't think about.
And it's something I think about all the time.
I'm going to throw this out to you.
When you go work at a big corporation, they pay you a salary.
Now, you probably don't consider that office they gave you a salary.
The insurance, the 401K, if you work at a really good company like I do,
working with quality people, driving to a stable environment that's got good management and good coworkers.
Pay for my cell phone.
I got three cafes right on campus.
Now at Fox, if I was doing this myself, I wouldn't be able to,
would I have to pay for the guy that sets up my board and the extra producer and the extra
graphic person and I'd pay for my own insurance and I'd have to start a CEP because I wouldn't
have a 401?
Just because your salary says this, when you work at a really good place, there's a lot of
additives that you may not count, but they matter.
I said for years, don't chase money.
Chase great bosses.
There's a sea of money.
There's not a sea of great management.
When you work at a running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers,
you almost always last 20 years have pro bowlers blocking for you.
No team in the NFL has drafted and developed wide receivers better than Pittsburgh over the last 15 years.
So that safety, he doesn't hover in the box.
He has to go out and guard Antonio Brown.
The ownership, rock solid.
three head coaches since 1969.
Mike Tomlin, veteran head coach, very player friendly.
Big Ben at the line of scrimmage will audible you out of trouble.
They have a tremendous scouting department.
See, your coworkers are way better than league average.
And by the way, you're in the playoffs every year at that big corporation called the
Bittsburg Steelers, and they have tremendous revenue streams.
So, unlike the Packers, they'll spend money on a free agent.
Yes, Lavian Bell gave up $14 million, but he gave up the rest of that too.
There's a reason Tom Brady can take a pay cut, and it's not Giselle.
It's that Bob Kraft and Belichick create a winning formula every year.
And there's a reason Tim Duncan could take pay cuts,
because the best international scouting in the NBA ever is San Antonio.
Popovich is one of the best coaches ever.
R.C. Buford's one of the best GMs and the only.
were fantastic. Let me ask you this. You, not Lavian Bell, what's the value of driving to work
and feeling great about where you're going? Good coworkers, good 401k, a little view in your
office, cafe on campus. In Hollywood, have you ever noticed the stars work with the same director
over and over, Bradley Cooper, Tom Hanks? You ever notice that? They do.
Lavian Bell chose to sit out of season, but it wasn't just sitting out of season.
He'll make money elsewhere, but he'll never work for a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers.
You ever sit around with your buddies and talk about those great Emmett Smith, Arizona Cardinal days?
I didn't think so.
You think Kobe Bryant ever benefited from being a Laker instead of a Charlotte Hornet?
Do you think Kobe Bryant got those international advertisements on Turkey,
airlines would sell his shoes in China that outsold Yao Ming if he was a hornet.
He did as a Laker.
Do you think he would have played with Shaq and Powell Gasol and had an owner as revered
and trusted as Dr. Jerry Buss?
A brand like L.A., palm trees in his backyard, endorsement, shoe deal, Shaq,
Pau Gasol.
It matters.
You go ahead and chase money.
but the Steelers in 2018 for a running back,
that is a great place to go to work.
Coming up next, well, well,
did I mention Joy that I will be at the Laker game
in a labor-intensive night of work?
You did mention that.
I will be tonight talking with several high-placed executives,
scouts.
I may talk to LeBron himself if I have time.
If you have time.
If I have time, Joy, I'll try.
to give him a few minutes. I know I'm busy.
But coming up next, there is this narrative that nobody wants to play with LeBron James.
Oh, wait. Oh, wait. We found somebody who did.
That's coming up.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app.
Now through Thanksgiving, 23 and Me Ancestry Service kits, only $49 a kit when you buy two or more.
23 and me.com slash the herd.
23 and me.com slash the herd.
By the way, you ever done one of those ancestry things?
I have. I did 23 and me, yes.
It's amazing. I did one. You know what I learned?
You learned so much about your family. You know what I learned about my family?
They couldn't stand me. It was amazing. And they're Danish.
Other than that, nothing. But it was a real revelation for me.
Well, well, well, there is this narrative out there, and I find it rather amusing.
Nobody wants to play with LeBron.
Paul George didn't want to play with him.
Kauai Leonard doesn't want you.
You're hearing all these stuff.
Nobody wants to play with LeBron.
That guy is needy.
Nobody wants to play with him.
Well, well, well, well, well, well, this is interesting.
A Tyson Chandler, who's been very good since the Lakers acquired him, came out yesterday and revealed he was down to the Lakers and the Warriors.
And he chose to play for the Lakers and LeBron James.
Golden State interested.
Golden State always starts every game with the center.
he would have been the starting center for the Golden State Warriors.
He could have been sizing himself for a ring this morning.
And he chose LeBron James.
So I thought we'd play a little game.
Let's make a list.
And we'll make a list on the left of people who have chosen to do business with LeBron.
And then on the other side of the paper, here will be people that won't work with LeBron.
So here we go.
Chris Bosch and Tyson Chandler have both chosen to play with LeBron.
Very smart veteran players.
Dwayne Wade. Yeah, he's pretty good. He recruited LeBron. I don't know if you've heard of Pat Riley. He's kind of a big deal around these parts. He chose to play with LeBron. Magic Johnson, his name is Irvin, but he's like the most powerful athlete in the history of Los Angeles, which is the second biggest city in America and the fifth biggest economy in the world. Magic Johnson recruited him. Have you ever heard of Warner Brothers? Well, if you haven't, they did the whole Batman series, Superman, Superman,
series, all 15 Harry Potter's. Yeah, that's them. Oh, and there's a struggling shoe company,
a fledgling little group called Nike. They chose to work with LeBron. Now let's go to the list
of people who have said, I don't want to deal with LeBron. A Derek Rose, quote, I don't recruit.
Kyrie Irving, the world is flat. Paul George, nine years in the NBA, can you name one
clutch shot? Gatorade commercials don't count.
Oh, there's Dan Gilbert. He's a winner. Called him high maintenance. Also, DeMarcus Cousins and Jimmy Butler, who's on his 23rd team this week.
So we've got two camps here. We got the Magic and the Warner Brothers and the Nike and the DeWade and the Bosch and the Tyson Chandler and the Magic Johnson and all the Legends and the Laker brand.
And they all want to do business with Warner Brothers and Nike.
And Derek Rose is not really interesting.
Paul George, who chose Applebee's over the palm trees,
they have no interest in working with LeBron James.
So I've given you the choices.
What camp would you be part of?
Given the option, Warner Brothers, Nike, Irvin, Pat.
Butler, DeMarcus, world is flat.
Best shot ever in a Gatorade commercial.
Okay. Just check it in.
Just trying to, because Tyson Chandler said yesterday.
Yeah, I could have gone to the Warriors.
I chose the Lakers and LeBron.
Just trying to, you know, factual.
I'm just trying to give you facts for today's show.
More facts here with Joy Taylor.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
I like very much that Tyson said that.
I think Tyson's at the point in his career where he's like, look,
I make my own decisions now, and it's worked out perfectly.
He's considered, somebody told me it as a world-class art collection.
If you ask guys in the NBA, like one of the most well-like dudes in the NBA.
Oh, yeah, he's, I saw him speak at a panel in San Diego.
He's very, like I said, he's like a point guard.
Like he's very articulate, thoughtful, mindful, and a good leader, good addition for the Lakers.
So, Levi-on-Bell, he has decided to not show up and sign his franchise tender,
and it has been viewed as a very polarizing move.
He will not be playing for the Steelers this year.
some current and former players are applauding him for standing up for himself and protecting his body in preparation for what he feels like will be a big payday next year.
But the majority of the reaction has been negative, old school players, analysts, and of course fans who are looking at the holdout as selfish.
And Steel City fans, being the fanatics that they are, have started to burn jerseys.
Oh, God, no.
God, stop.
This always looks so juvenile.
Listen, listen, he did what?
well for you. You did well for him and now you're not going to have a relationship. Let's not go silly.
I don't, I've never understood the Jersey burning thing. I do know that Pittsburgh fans take the
Steelers very seriously. I get it. But I tend to agree with you. Levion did nothing but good things.
Remember Mani Ramirez left the Red Sox and people were freaking out and they hated him and I always said
this. You do get, you went like a hundred years since Babe Ruth before you won a title. Manny and
Kurt Schilling come to town. These huge personalities. You
win and then he leaves you but
you do realize pro sports is
dating not a marriage like guys eventually all leave
well I mean fan is short for
fanatics like it's there's not supposed to
be a whole lot of reason in being
a fan
like that's not how it works and
the Pittsburgh fan which is an apparel store
right across from PNC Park where the pirates
play which is right next to Heinzfield
where the Steelers play tweeted out that they will be
selling levy on bell jerseys
for $40 a pop
for all the insers to take out their anger
on Levy on Bell.
Oh, people, come on.
First of all, James,
you're throwing away $100 bucks.
Well, if you get one from this store,
you're only way thrown away $40.40.
Second of all, am I wrong on this?
James Connor's been pretty good.
Isn't it disrespectful to James Connor?
James Connor's been fantastic for you.
I mean, there's a lot of different ways
you can break it down.
The bottom line is I really feel like people just do this
for social media so that they can get,
you know, retweets and likes and get discussion
because the reality is, I mean,
are you going to go out and burn a jersey?
and furthermore, if they were to see Levion in person
and he was to walk past them, they would not react in this manner.
Yes, that we know.
It's not a relatively reasonable thing to do.
All right, so Monday Night's Chiefs' Rams game
has been officially moved from Mexico City to L.A.
due to poor field conditions at Estada di Esteka.
So damage to the turf happened from Shakira concerts last month
that left the field in terrible conditions.
And they made the call to move it back here to L.A.
for player safety reasons, obviously.
And so now the Rams have an additional home game
and they've opted to do something pretty cool
with a ton of tickets that they have on the hands
because they have thousands of tickets now
because they were obviously unsold
being that it was going to be in Mexico City.
So they announced that they will be providing
thousands of complimentary tickets to first responders
who are bravely protecting the greater Los Angeles community
as well as people who have been impacted
by our community's recent tragedies.
By the way, this is the best football game of the year
and those fans get free tickets. That's great.
The best game, Monday Night Football.
football in LA. I saw, Joy, I saw something yesterday because I posted a picture of the stadium and it was
obviously beat up. And a lot of people said this. Well, I mean, it used to be in the 60s, in the 70s, in the 80s,
in the 70s guys made 60,000 a year. When you're talking about $5 million contracts and $30 million
contracts, you cannot have players. It doesn't, it's nothing against Mexico City. You would cancel an
NFL game in Cleveland if a stadium looked like that now. No, no, no, you would. You would definitely
cancel it. And look, I'm sure that the NFL did not take this decision lightly because
I'm sure there was a lot of money and a lot of tickets sold that they now have to return.
They lost a lot of money having to move that game.
It's not a simple call.
I mean, the thing about this.
We're talking Super Bowl contenders.
What if Tyreek Hill rips up his leg?
Right.
And this is not a shot at Mexico City.
The NFL wants to.
There's a reason the NFL's got three more games in London next year and another game in Mexico City.
No, they want to expand.
Yeah.
And they're not going to stop.
I love the idea of playing.
I've told you before, I would move a team to Mexico City before London because of the time zone,
Right. And yeah, the travel is far more convenient to be in Mexico City.
No, it's not Shakira's fault either. It's whoever was supposed to take care of the field and they can't do it there.
It doesn't matter whether it's the Chiefs and the Rams playing or any team in the NFL.
You have to have proper field conditions in order to do it.
So also, just another note, team captain Andrew Whitworth donated his week 10 game check to the family is affected by the shooting as well.
So the Rams are doing a lot of nice things for the L.A. community.
Finally, all season long, we have speculated.
this is Katie's last year with the Warriors.
That combo got the spotlight on Monday night against the Clippers when Draymond
chose to not pass the ball to Katie in a game-winning situation.
And then Durant called out Draymond for the decision.
Drayman was displeased and he decided to call Durant's the B-word.
And he said he was making the season about himself with how he's handled
the pending free agency.
So where does that leave the Warriors?
Well, one veteran told the athletic with what was said,
there is already no way Durant is coming.
back. The only hope is that they can say this summer, see, Katie, we've got your back. We protected
you from Draymond. I mean, Skip Bayless mentioned this this morning, and I don't think it's a
terrible idea. Do you get, do you get, don't let this fester. You got Boogie Cousins going to be
able to plan about six weeks, eight weeks, and he's your big tough guy. Do you move Draymond out of
town? Do you just say, you know what? We're not even going to go there because I watched Steve Kerr and
Bob Myers press conference yesterday. And it was
it was you could feel the stress.
Everybody's feeling this Kevin Durant
impending free agency. It's weighing on them.
They haven't had a lot of controversy
over the past few years there in Golden State.
So this is uncharacteristic of that entire organization.
I don't think that you are in a position right now
in this moment where you can move Draymond.
But if you're looking at what's more valuable,
Draymond or KD, obviously,
it goes without saying KD is more valuable,
he's a more talented player.
But Draymond's a big piece there.
And the other, the rest of the team, maybe KD doesn't,
but the rest of the team, they respect Draymond.
He's been there with them in the trenches and they won a couple rings with him.
So not that they have it with KD, but they won one without KD too.
You go to KD and you say, KD, you give us a promise of a three-year extension.
We'll move Draymond out of town.
I mean, what's a promise?
I would do it.
What's a promise?
Well, I mean, I'd say, let's get agents here.
Let's get it worked.
Let's get it done.
We'll see a three-year deal.
Then you can leave us.
By the way, you'll still have three to four great years left.
Let's do three more years and Draymond's out.
And if you could agree with that, I'd move Draymond tomorrow.
Maybe, but handshake deals are just that.
So he can decide to change his mind at any point.
I just think that there's a little bit more to this than we maybe thought yesterday.
All right, good stuff.
Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News.
Troy Aikman made news last week.
Greatest quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys along with Roger Staubach ever.
When Troy Aikman talks about the Cowboys in Dallas on Dallas radio,
It's always measured.
It's always thoughtful.
I disagreed with it last week.
So he talked again yesterday.
So last week, he said the Dallas Cowboys were dysfunctional, and then he also said this.
If you're asking me, you just can't simply replace head coaches and say, now it's going to be better.
No, it's been shown that it's not better.
Now, I disagree with that.
Troy is a fine broadcaster.
I know him.
I disagree with that.
Matt Nagy in Chicago.
Sean McVeigh in Los Angeles.
Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco.
Harbaugh in San Francisco replaced Mike Singletary.
Football is a coaching sport.
NBA is a player sport.
You can just replace the head coach.
Nick Sabin at Alabama, how are they before?
Pete Carroll at USC.
How are they before?
You can just put a new coach into the NFL?
It matters now.
Coaching's never mattered more with all the rules changes being pro offense.
So I disagree with that.
I don't think the Cowboys need an overhaul.
I love their linebackers.
I love their front seven defensively.
I love their left tackle and seven.
I love their star running back.
I think Amari Cooper was worth a first round trade.
Now, they need some things.
I think one of them's a new coach, and the other one's probably a quarterback.
But that's probably not going to happen.
So I disagreed with the first thing Troy Eichmann said.
I do think they're dysfunctional, but that's just big business often is.
Now, he said something yesterday, and I disagree once again with Troyickman.
Here it is.
Right now, if I had to pick the Thanksgiving game, is huge.
But I went into Thanksgiving and then win that game.
I think they're positioned pretty well.
I disagree with that too.
Okay, I don't agree with that.
Here's the standings in the NFC East.
Right now, Washington has a two-game lead over Dallas,
and they've already beaten Dallas.
So Dallas has to beat Washington to just break even with them.
That's number one.
Number two is Dallas is an underdog this weekend to Atlanta.
The third thing is Dallas is one and four on the road,
and they have three road games left, and guess what?
In two of that three, they face Matt Ryan,
and they face Andrew Luck.
And those were way better quarterbacks than they have.
It is hard to win on the road when you face a significantly better quarterback.
That's really hard to do in the NFL.
So I'll make my prediction on the Dallas Cowboys.
You get a little heads up on my blazing five.
Dallas loses to Atlanta this weekend and drops to four and six.
And Washington, only a two-point dog, beats Houston in and upset at home and is seven and three.
Okay, so that's my, I don't agree with that.
I think Washington wins this weekend.
Dallas loses, and they're both the same, you know, two, three-point underdogs.
But I don't think they need an overhaul, and I don't think they're the team I trust down the stretch.
I do think, however, there is some sort of innate, and I don't blame them, and I don't blame Jerry Jones.
I think it's really hard to be as big a brand as the Yankees are, the Lakers are, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants.
There's too much money.
There's too much power.
There's too many people connected to the franchise,
from agents to power brokers, to Time Warner cable to blah, blah, blah.
I think they're innately dysfunctional.
I think when you're not dysfunctional, like Golden State for two or three years,
it starts to seep in eventually, and now we're seeing it.
So the dysfunctional part, I don't blame Dallas.
That's just the way the game works in pro sports.
Internationally, FIFA, IOC, the bigger the organization,
the more dysfunction you have.
It will eventually Apple, Google, and eventually Facebook, you find it.
White House, it develops.
Coming up next, Doug Gottlieb, always interesting stuff, plus my thoughts on the college football, top 20 last night.
They gave you the final four Michigan fans hate me.
We'll address that.
That's coming up.
Cold and flu season.
Try Vix Sinex nasal spray.
Last up to 12 hours.
When congestion strikes, uses directed.
Vicks.
I've been using that forever.
All right, Doug Gottlieb, Fox Sports Radio after our show.
does a really good job.
All right.
I always lean on you for this basketball stuff.
So a couple nights ago, Warriors, KD, Draymond Green.
Let me ask the question we haven't already talked about.
Whose fault was it?
Did Katie have a point?
Did Draymond have a point?
They both had a point.
In the context of that game, Kevin Rand had a triple double.
In the context of that game, there is no Steph Curry.
Now, in the context, if you take kind of the bigger picture,
Draymond Green is a capable playmaker,
and he did have two other warriors open on the play.
But KD's calling for the ball.
He's the go-to alpha score.
And he didn't get the basketball.
This is like this is basketball 101.
Right.
Ball.
Ball.
Dude, pass the ball.
Pass the ball.
And what ensued showed, I believe,
I believe that there's built up kind of shrapnel in this relationship.
Because remember, Draymond was the guy who swore by KD.
Braymond was the guy who was texting and recruiting KD when he was playing for the Thunder.
Draymond's the one who like, no, guys, I swear by him, he's cool, he can hang with our group.
And then when Kevin Durant has the burner accounts, right, and Kevin Durant is not fully committing to staying with the team.
He wants to keep his option, it's open.
When Kevin Durant has his own kind of business manager, Rich Climman, who lives sometimes in Northern California, sometimes in New York,
when the stories get out there about maybe the Knicks and maybe the Clicks and maybe the Clems,
clippers. That all goes back and
Draymond's sitting there going like, dude, I
swore by you. I welcomed you in this group.
I got you the invite to the party
and you're the one screwing up the party.
And I think
Draymond overreacted in a way
in which only Draymond can.
And I think the warriors
are doing the best they can to just
all right, in this particular instance,
who's right, who's wrong.
Drayman went to places you can't go.
We've got to take them away from the team.
Remember, Draymond Greem cost them another NBA championship.
That's right.
Don't get a twisted.
He's an integral part of what they do.
And at the defensive end, he's amazing.
Offensively, he's a mess.
He can't shoot anymore.
Nobody guards him.
Yes, he averages a lot of assists, but that's because nobody's guarding him, right?
Yeah.
But he's smart.
He rarely shoots the basketball.
But this act cost them an NBA championship.
Maybe they don't know if you need Durant if that happens.
So I think there's a lot of baggage that was carried in.
to this confrontation.
Steve Kerr and Bob Meyer chose KD yesterday.
Yes, but I don't think that I don't think you can throw Kevin Durant under the bus.
I don't think you can go like, hey, we just, because it became so public, because it leaked in the locker room, because it was so confrontational,
I don't think they're choosing KD over Durant long term based upon what you saw.
I think they're just reacting to what you saw.
Like, look, you just can't go to certain places in a public setting.
or even in a private setting with your teammates.
Can't talk about money.
Can't talk about even the mobs.
Like, not about money.
Don't talk about my mom.
Don't talk about my girl.
Don't talk about my money.
Right?
I mean, that's pretty obvious.
Let me, you know, the, let's go on a macro level.
I have talked about your ex-wife, so I apologize.
Yeah, you just really should.
But that's because I love her, Kim and Ann.
Okay, great.
Great.
Love Ann Moore, please.
Okay.
So let's go macro level.
Yes.
Is that, you know, you and I have talked about this in our professional careers.
What do you pursue?
Do you pursue life?
lifestyle. Do you pursue money? Do you pursue management? Do you pursue opportunity?
Kevin Durant goes to get drafted by Seattle. Then they moved to OKC. And they won a bunch of games, but it didn't feel quite right to him. So he goes to Golden State.
I think he thought. Okay. I think he thought. You remember when LeBron left Cleveland the first time and they burned his jerseys? Yes.
And then the first year, he was the villain in the league. He was a black hat. But the second year, won a championship. And suddenly,
he was LeBron again. Everybody loved him. Then we left and he came back to Cleveland like, oh, he's coming home.
And then the second year he won a championship and now he's king of the world. I believe that Kevin Rand thought he was going to have some sort of fulfillment.
That winning that trophy, winning an NBA finals MVP, going against LeBron James and being the better player in the second half, which is what we're told.
We've been told, how do you play in the second half of championship games against the other best player at your position?
and he was better.
And I think he thought the whole world would embrace him.
And whether it's because he's on social,
he is a, I believe he has a social media addiction.
He just does.
We all know people who they can't,
they don't understand that that's an alternate universe.
It's a parallel universe to ours,
but it is not reality.
Right.
And you are not going to ever get the love.
Just because you get likes and retweets and hearts,
you know, and emojis by your statements,
there's always going to be the haters out there.
And if you let that get into your head.
He does.
It'll eat you up.
And I think it's clearly eating him up that people haven't just said, hey, you know what?
Kevin Rand's the best player in your league.
Even now, people say, well, you know, Steph Curry is really the better player on that team.
And it's eating them up.
It's agitating.
Of course it does.
It's like box office.
If you join the number one franchise and they were already number one without you, now the franchise, the movie franchise is better that you're here.
But you didn't create it.
And they were, when in 73 games in the box office, it without you, it lingers.
It's in your head.
Now, the truth is that I believe the Warriors.
needed him as much as he needed them.
I agree.
Okay, that they did come up short and that they never felt like Harrison Barnes was good enough.
Right.
And there was a hole there, and they had to rework a lot of their roster in order to get him, but they
needed him.
Just because everybody says, well, they won 73 games.
Like, so what?
The Raptors won the most games in the East last year.
Nobody thought they were a championship team.
Right.
They went for it.
They got the record, but they needed an additional piece.
But it doesn't sit with him well.
and if you don't believe that he's
and I think he's the best player in the league
but if you don't believe he's insecure
go back to Oklahoma City remember when Oklahoma City
freaked out overreacted
because the Oklahomaan
the state newspaper had him
Mr. Unreliable right
and it drove him nuts
he didn't play well against Memphis
and what that states is he's normally reliable
and yet against the Memphis Grizzlies
he didn't play well down the stretch
the newspaper had to retract and apologize
for a headline
about an NBA All-Star.
It was bizarre, but it was obviously because whether it was Duran or Duran's people were like,
dude, take that down.
And he doesn't handle that well.
No, I think it's fair.
So LeBron said a couple days ago, I am going to the Laker game tonight.
Joy, have I told you that. I'll be doing some labor-intensive.
I've heard that you will be at Stables tonight, yes.
Call will be lower level.
He does not mix with the commenters in the upper.
I will be mixing with executives at many fine companies.
Okay, here's the thing.
LeBron said two days ago, he got quoted.
said, you know, listen, I was almost cracking.
Oh, yes. I was almost cracking.
It was driving me crazy how we started.
What was your interpret? How'd that land for you?
If you're listening on radio, that's the proverbial eye roll.
Like, oh, boy, here we go again, right?
He loves that attention, that, gosh, LeBron is really, I do think he's trying to fit into
this system.
I do think he's trying to move the basketball and trying to play as though he's the
alpha and they want him to be LeBron.
and take over.
He's trying to do what Luke wants
and run these sets
and move the ball
and be a good teammate.
So I think some of that is,
it's really hard
when you've been an alpha solo radio host
and now a sudden you got co-host
now a sudden you're doing a new show.
That's hard.
Like what you do on Sundays.
That couldn't be easy,
especially when you're not seeing
the benefit with immediate wins.
But I also think like this is kind of classic
LeBron.
Like, really, you were cracking.
Really?
There was so much frustration
you thought about
What, giving up, not showing up for work, just saying the hell with it and packing back going back to Cleveland?
Do I think it's a little bit harder?
Sure.
He's also, you know, 34 years old.
It's going to be harder.
He's playing for a coach that hasn't won a championship.
He's playing with guys that have the young guys have never played in meaningful basketball games.
Yeah.
You know, Lance Stevenson's more into doing the spin after he shoots the basketball, assuming it's going to go in than actually taking and making good shots.
All of that said, I think most of us rolled our eyes when we heard that with one of the ball.
Bronjeet. Finally, a couple of minutes. Lavian Bell.
So he's not going to play, which is a bummer, because I like watching great players play.
Yes. I hate when quarterbacks get hurt and I hate when running backs get hurt and sit out.
What was your takeaway on Lavian Bell?
This was, you know, NFL players or NFL fans or somebody who apologizes for Lavian Bell, like, hey, it's not personal.
It's just business. I agree. It's not personal. It is business.
He made a series of bad business decisions.
you used to live in Vegas.
Some people don't know that in Vegas, when you're playing blackjack,
you get a bad hand, you're looking in the dealer's showing a 10, right?
And he looks, it's not 21, and you're trying to figure out what you do,
and, you know, you got a three showing.
You can surrender.
So, yeah, you're going to only get back half your money.
He had multiple opportunities to profit on some level this year.
Even if he showed up to work yesterday, he probably doesn't play this weekend
because he can make $6 million.
that is $14.5 million that he missed out on this year that he will never get back.
And if you want to say he made the point, the point might have been made when he didn't show up for
training camp. The point could have been made after week two. The point could have been made after the
buy week. He had a series of options that he chose, he chose to choose wrongly from a business
perspective. If you want to say, I'm a businessman, this is a business decision, that's great.
That's $14.5 million. You will not get back. You do not.
not get faster. You do not get
fresher just because you don't play football when you
get a year older. That's not how the league
views you. Yeah, and I was saying this
earlier about Lavian is that
I understand
athletes have short shelf lives
and they chase money.
But there are, being a running
back for the Pittsburgh Steelers is
kind of like being a shooting guard for the Lakers.
It takes you to, you can be great.
Kobe would never have been Kobe as a Charlotte
Hornet. He wouldn't have been doing Turkish Airlines
commercials making $6 million a year. Like
Yes. I mean, how many opportunities in your life do you have to win a Super Bowl?
And he has an opportunity. Every year.
Well, I don't know about every year, but he has an opportunity this year.
And look, he did the classic gamble, the classic gamble like, hey, if you don't think I'm worth it,
find somebody who's better who's cheaper. And the Pittsburgh series like, okay.
You know how much James Conner makes? $580,000.
Wow.
That is $1.28, how's my math, right? $14.5 million.
Yeah.
$5.18 as much as Leveon would have made this year.
They found a younger, cheaper model who may not be as good, no matter what the stats will tell you, that's been fine to replace him.
Hour two next.
Hour two in Los Angeles.
This is the herd.
Wherever you may be and however you may be listening live in studio, Iheart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1.
Joy Taylor is joining me.
Hour number two.
Joel Clad will stop by some college football talk.
We're trying to get a hold of a warrior beat writer.
It is a mess despite what people said yesterday all over the internet.
KD.
Draymond, Steve Kerr, the fabric tearing.
Joy, how are you as we head into hour number two?
Doing great.
So yesterday I talked about getting ahead of an argument and the argument surfaced last night.
So the college football playoff came out.
This is the playoff.
They pick four teams at the end of the year and they vine a playoff of the national championship.
So there are six teams I want to talk about.
Bama Clemson, Notre Dame, top three.
I want to concentrate on Michigan 4, Georgia 5, and Oklahoma 6 because those three teams will face
Alabama first, and they're probably all going to get beat, some soundly.
But I said yesterday, I don't want to hear about deserving.
I hear that all the time in life.
I deserve this and I deserve that.
I'm not interested.
I'm interested in disruptive.
Which one makes Nick Saban stay up at night?
Well, let's eliminate Georgia because Georgia plays Alabama.
will in a couple of weeks in the SEC championship, they'll get their crack at him.
And let's just say Alabama wins, I think they will fairly close.
Fairly close.
I'm not giving Georgia a second chance.
That gets down to Michigan and Oklahoma.
I said yesterday and I'll say it again today.
Choose Oklahoma.
You're splitting hairs.
Choose the worst matchup for Alabama.
Say it out loud.
Super mobile quarterback.
World class offensive coach, playmakers.
I've seen that game against Alabama.
I saw Dak against Alabama twice.
Deshawn Watson against Alabama twice.
Johnny Mansell against Alabama twice.
I've seen all sorts of Nick Saban against mobile quarterback, smart offensive coach.
They're always entertaining.
They're always viable.
They're always competitive.
I've also seen, and by the way, Oklahoma's defense is bad.
Those Texas A&M defenses were no day at the park either.
And they beat them once.
I've also seen Alabama against Michigan.
It's called Alabama against LSU, and those games are a snooze, and they have been for
eight years.
Teams loaded with NFL defensive players, conservative offense, Michigan's 54th in the
country in offense.
They struggle to score against Northwestern.
They've got no NFL players on Northwestern.
Bama's got 11 starters.
10 will play in the NFL.
Four will be starters day one.
I've seen Michigan, Alabama.
The only way to keep.
Nick Saban up at night is a world-class offensive mind and a world-class scrambling quarterback
and world-class playmakers.
Because Alabama's going to score 30 on everybody.
Who can score on them?
Michigan, Alabama is 29-0, 34-3.
I've seen that game.
It's called LSU.
You go look at the history of Alabama.
The only teams that beat him and give them sleepless nights.
Offensive head coach that's clever.
Auburn's beaten him a couple times.
quarterback that can move around and playmakers to burn them.
Because Alabama's going to score 35 on you.
They're going to score 35 on anybody.
They may score 50 on Oklahoma, but Oklahoma's can score on them.
Now, ESPN got into this argument, Reese Davis, good dude, Jesse Palmer, good dude, and David Pollock.
Pollock's on my side.
Pollock's like, let's get past deserving.
Here's David Pollock last night.
At what point do we start going, who's going to give Alabama the best game?
I think that at some point is going to enter our thought process.
That's the best team.
The best team is the one that's going to show up
and give the best fight the most consistently in the playoffs.
And that to me is going to be very interesting.
What about the best matchups?
It's about the best.
I would disagree with you vehemently that that should not be part of the evaluation.
At some point, I think it'll be part of what we would talk about.
But it should not enter in the room.
Yeah, I don't think it's about getting it.
I don't think it's at home the best game.
I thought he was a fan amongst us.
Yeah, amongst us.
Yes.
It's the team.
that's what we have to start talking about because I think it's going to be part of the,
it's going to be part of the dialogue.
And by the way, I totally agree with David Pollock.
I totally disagree with Reese Davis.
So, Reese, your company paid $14 zillion for those rights.
They pay you a good salary.
Jesse and David, you all make a lot of money.
Why?
Because they get ratings.
They need ratings.
They paid $14 zillion for those rights.
March Madness acknowledges, admits their bracket, they're creating matchups.
They want to see Louisville play Kentucky because they won't schedule each other.
Why?
Because CBS and Turner paid a fortune.
We got to be realistic, not idealistic.
We're splitting hairs here.
Who gives a rip, 8 seed, 9 seed, March madness?
Who gives a rip?
Oklahoma, Michigan, you're splitting hairs.
You're splitting hairs.
In the NFL, you go to overtime, even in the Super Bowl.
They flip a coin.
Why?
Because you've played four hours.
You're tied.
You've played four hours in the NFL.
Super Bowl.
Playoff game.
Let's bring out a quarter.
What?
Currency.
Bring out a quarter.
You mean, we played all the data.
Bring out a quarter.
Let's flip a coin.
In the Super Bowl.
Because you're splitting hairs.
When you start to split hairs, get out of deserving.
Get out of disruptive.
This idea, we should not consider who's a better matchup.
You think ESPN paid $15 zillion for these things?
And they're not looking for a better matchup.
matchup? You've got to be out of your gourd. You don't think Fox in the NFL, we're not rooting
for the best matchups. Our bosses aren't on the phone with the NFL when they try to take games
from us and put them to CBS and we're not arguing. You're disrupting our business. They don't
talk deserving. They talk disruptive. What fantasy we all living in here. Michigan and Oklahoma,
it's a coin flip. But I've seen Michigan Bama. It's called LSU Bama. And Bama's going to
score 40 on everybody. They may score 60 on Oklahoma, but Oklahoma will score on them.
Johnny Mansell scored on them. I saw Baker Mayfield in that horrible Oklahoma defense last
year. They dropped a bunch of points on Georgia, too. Nobody's shutting out Oklahoma. And I disagree
vehemently with anybody in my business who is living in this idealistic paradigm that it's
about deserving. No, no, no, no, no. You start paying 14 billion.
dollars at CBS and Turner for March Madness, then March Madness is doing business now.
We're doing business together.
I'm not a business, man.
I'm a business.
Man, we're doing business together.
And if we're doing business together and I'm doing March Madness, then I got Louisville playing
Kentucky, and I got Duke playing Carolina, and I got Xavier playing Georgetown, and I got
Wisconsin playing Michigan.
Hey, I pay for the wedding.
I get to make up the seating chart.
I paid for a wedding before.
I get to make up the seating chart.
And if I'm ESPN and I'm Fox and I'm CBS and I'm Turner,
you can take deserving off the table.
If it's close and it goes either way,
I'm raising my hand for Oklahoma's more disruptive.
By the way, I like all those guys in the inner place.
I like them.
I just think David Pollock's right.
And I like people more when they're right.
I get all worked up on that thing.
You were worked up yesterday before it even happened.
All right.
You know, very worked up.
All right.
So the warrior suspended Draymond Green.
A little fight yesterday.
A little fight.
And it'll skirmish a couple days going to huddle.
And the warrior stepped in and they said,
we're going to suspend Draymond Green.
And Kevin Durant and the Warriors beat Atlanta last night.
Kevin Durant was asked after the game if he's over it.
And here was his response.
Kevin, have you and Draymond been able to hash anything out?
No.
Do you see that happening anytime soon?
I'm sure it will.
We've got a long season ahead.
Obviously, it's definitely weird not having them around
and not just everything that went down,
but that's what happens.
Shit happens in the NBA.
And, you know, just try to do my best to move on and be a basketball player.
I don't got nothing else to do,
but to be the best player I can be every single day.
I try not to worry about nothing else.
Okay, and then Bob Meyer, who runs the team,
Myers and Steve Curru coaches the team, held a press conference.
They don't do this.
They don't want to do this.
They don't suspend Raymond before.
He's kicked people.
They don't suspend him yesterday, and then nailed a press conference,
and it felt tense, right?
What exactly happened that warranted this suspension?
I appreciate the fact that you have to ask the question,
but I'm not going to answer in any detail.
It's a private matter.
It's the decision that we made.
I know Bob already mentioned that to you.
And then we'll move on.
I think we'll be fine.
I mean, we're a team that goes through stuff just like everybody else.
And things happen, bumps in the road.
You've got to move forward.
NFL dynasties end due to injuries.
NBA dynasties tear because of egos.
From AAU basketball on,
the NBA is about heightening, elevating the individual.
The NFL's not.
It's about the system, the owner, the GM, the offense, Sean McVeigh, Bill Belichick.
The NBA, and this is the downside to a sport which elevates the individual.
Even when you're great, it doesn't last long.
Kobe and Shaq, MJ and Jerry Reinsdorf, Pat Riley and LeBron,
Kyrie and LeBron, Westbrook and KD.
You know what that whole thing yesterday validated?
It validated what Mark Spears had last year on his Twitter account at the end of the finals championship.
David West retired.
And David West told Mark Spears.
He said, y'all got no clue.
No clue.
That tells you about this team that nothing came out.
that you, the scenes that you didn't see,
you'd be shocked if you knew what happened behind the scenes.
This thing was getting frayed all last year.
Remember, they lost in the regular season by 40, 30 a couple times, 20, a half dozen times.
This is how dynasties end.
In the NFL, they don't end this way.
They end because you lose a good coordinator, a left tackle leaves in free agency,
your Mike linebacker gets picked up.
Somebody else wants him, overpays for him.
But in the NBA, this is how they all end.
The big three, Kyrie LeBron, Shaq and Kobe.
I mean, good Lord, it even upstairs.
Phil Jackson and Pat Riley didn't get along.
Who's giving me credit?
It's the downside to the NBA's culture, and I love the league.
But when you elevate the individual,
even when you get it right in Golden State, it doesn't last long.
When you keep telling players how great they are,
and you start paying them what you're paying them for shoes,
and you start giving everybody a nickname of 38 commercials,
this is what happens.
This thing was coming apart at the seams last year.
They're just so much better than everybody else.
They're just so much better than everybody else.
They can withstand it.
By the way, in college football, we got a 10-year dynasty.
In the NFL, we have an 18-year dynasty.
These guys have played together two years.
It's already coming apart at the seams already.
Did I tell you, Joy, I'm going to the Laker game tonight?
You mentioned that, yes.
It would be a big part of the, maybe pregame stuff, you know.
You're going to be around shaking hands, labor intensive, getting sourcing.
You know, on this show, what's the letter we talk about?
Big J.
Journalism.
The show's all about wife's going to be with me, even when I'm drinking cocktails.
Work on the phones.
Saturday, the fight for the college football playoffs is on, starting with Shay Patterson
in number four, Michigan as they try to keep things rolling against Indiana on FS1.
Then in primetime, Kyler Murray in sixth ranked Oklahoma,
look to make a statement against Kansas on Fox or catch it all on the Fox Sports app.
So watch those two games and watch Oklahoma's offense.
They'll literally flip a coin for that game.
Oklahoma will score 14 before the coin lands.
And that's what I want Alabama to face.
They may, again, Alabama may beat Oklahoma, 63 to 34,
but that's better than 29-0.
I've seen 29-0 with Alabama.
It's called LSU.
Joel Clatt in 15 minutes.
So yesterday on the final hour of the show,
I told you, I don't know how this is going to work out,
but the L.A. Rams behind the scenes are changing the culture of the NFL.
All that no pain, no gain crap, it's over.
All that you've got to suffer to win in the NFL.
Nah, let those Northeast guys worry about that.
What the Rams are doing behind the scenes,
and I've heard this now for several months, is amazing.
Very pro-employee.
bosses or friends, take care of older players, nobody plays in the preseason, walkthroughs instead of hitting at practice, very pro-family.
Will it work? Will they be too soft? I don't know. But I did think it was interesting that as I mentioned this yesterday, Peter King talked about it last night. They had to move the NFL game Rams and Chiefs for Mexico City because of the turf to L.A.
and Peter King, just so coincidentally, was talking about the L.A. Rams.
And he talked exactly about what we talked about in our final hour.
He had several texts.
Peter King said, players appreciate Stan Cronkey, the owner.
I just got a text from the tackle, Andrew Whitworth, quote,
just honestly so grateful to Stan Cronky and Rams management.
I just told my wife, as they arrived tonight,
I've never felt more a part of something special.
We have an owner and a staff that takes care of every employee that is displaced,
flies our families to us, puts them in hotels with us,
and have our back at every turn.
Makes you feel connected.
Makes you feel appreciated.
Makes you feel inspired to give everything you got as a player.
Stan Cronkey is the richest owner in the NFL since Paul Allen passed away, the great Paul Allen.
And Roger Goodell and Stan Cronkey and Jerry Jones.
They may have their issues.
But they are all aligned on one thing is that L.A. is the entertainment capital of the world.
And the NBA has made gains on the NFL in the last four or five years because they are all in on the entertainment part of this business.
And the NFL is still king of the world.
And it's not that close.
But Stan Cronkey's building the stadium in L.A.
They're going to move the NFL network there.
They're going to move like every third Super Bowl there.
they're going to put drafts there.
The Rams and Chargers will both play there.
They'll split revenue right down the middle,
and they want to make it the NFL the number one free agent destination,
like the Yankees in the 90s for baseball.
And so the NFL has come to terms with something.
There are a TV show.
L.A. is where all TV shows are mostly made.
Netflix, Amazon Prime, CBS, NBC, Fox, ABC, ABC.
And what you're really seeing the Rams do, it's a culture changer.
They hired this young coach.
They don't let players can't call him coach.
They call him Sean.
He calls them Bob, Mike, Jared, whatevs?
If they call him coach, he calls them player.
It's a whole different way of doing business.
Totally connected.
The opposite of the NFL.
And by the way, I don't know if it works.
But I will say this, Pete Carroll's pro player, got a Super Bowl.
Mike Tomlin's pro player, got a couple Super Bowls.
I think it's just taking the Seahawks and the Steelers to the next level.
of commitment to the player.
It has a very Google feel to it, very NBA feel to it, but it is noticeable.
Joy Taylor with the news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So, Ben Ruffusberger apparently tried to reach out to Levion Bell yesterday before
Levion's decision on whether to report to the team by the 4 p.m. deadline.
Here is Ben on what happened.
The thing about it is he's not here, he's not going to be here, so we don't talk about it.
him yesterday before the deadline asking him uh you know to text himself hope he was going to show up
and if he decided not to wish him nothing with the best he was a great teammate a great football
player um you know to each their own on what they want to walk away from did he text you back no
yeah i mean this is it's rough it's sports is uh you know it's a lot of money it's a lot of
publicity it's a lot of ego and you know this is a weird situation and you know livin's
going to get some money he's going to get paid somewhere i don't think he'll ever get this
back, but Labian's going to get his.
He is going to get paid.
He's going to get paid.
Normally I don't make too much of these things, but
it's Ben.
It's kind of one of the people you
may want to just respond to real quick.
But he probably was told by everyone,
just don't say anything.
Anything that you say can get out there and then it's
going to be, you know, twisted into something
else. The situation is very weird,
but Steelers are 6-2 and 1.
They lead the AFC North, and they just
crushed Carolina 52 to
They have looked great for a month.
Since that Atlanta game, they've been as good as anybody in this league, including the Rams, including the Saints.
Pittsburgh has been, including the Chiefs.
They have been lights out for a month.
And they're heading to Jacksonville, who, after reaching the AFC title game last year, are now three losses away from clinching a losing season.
Five straight weeks of losing has buried the Jags, three and six, and last place in the AFC South.
Their swagger's gone, but players say they won't pack it in.
and they will continue playing with the urgency until the regular season ends on December 30th at Houston,
including defensive end, Malik Jackson, who said our season isn't over.
We just have to stop putting ourselves in bad positions, like letting teams get up on us,
and then we have to dig back and fight.
I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but I don't have a lot of faith in the Jags this year.
No, it's over.
It's not great.
Is that mildly dramatic?
That window closed like too fast.
Yes.
Some windows slowly, Seahawks, slowly, that one closed fast.
We used to have a window in my house.
I grew up, like, it didn't have the strips on the size of the wood windows.
He had to put the block under it.
Or it just slam shot.
So you shake it out.
You better move your hands real fast.
Yeah, I mean, look, the, I never believe in the Jags because I don't believe in Blake Bortles.
Yeah, there you go.
That's it.
If they had enough other pieces around him to be consistent, then maybe you could make up for what Blake lacks.
And I don't necessarily think this is all in Blake Bortals, but I just,
You know, I guess, stay optimistic, I guess.
Leonard, they lost some receivers to free agency.
They lost receivers.
They got Blake Bortles.
By the way, Leonard Fernette hasn't been as good as they think.
McCaffrey's been the better player.
So it just didn't all work out.
All the stuff you thought was going to work, didn't percolate and didn't work.
Yes.
Finally, the Cowboys claimed an important win over division rival on Sunday nights.
Yeah.
But not even a victory over the Eagles can stop Jerry Jones from fielding questions about the future of the franchise.
Last week, it was reported that Jerry was interested in hiring Oklahoma head coach, Lincoln Riley.
He's good.
To lead the team if Jason Garrett is fired.
But yesterday, Jerry sung a different tune.
I think Coach Riley is outstanding.
And what he's doing is real impressive.
It doesn't surprise me because of proximity
or because of his success.
That when you start a conversation about the Cowboys' Changing coaches
that a coach of his statue would come into the pitcher.
but total speculation.
Just think how, Jerry Jones is so powerful.
What if Jerry Jones was invited, just invited,
by the president at the University of Oklahoma to a football game,
and Jerry said it's Saturday.
I'm going to fly down and watch Oklahoma play, you know, somebody.
Just think of the fervor and the...
Oh, be a frenzy.
It would be, oh, my God, no, when you get as rich and powerful as Jerry Jones,
you have to turn down invitations to certain events
because you'll create utter chaos in your own.
Yeah, absolutely.
It would be the biggest story of the entire weekend.
Nothing would trump it.
I just don't think that Jason Garrett's going anywhere.
I believe it when I see it.
He has positioned himself as the perfect coach for Jerry Jones.
Jerry Jones has not shown any sign of backing off control of the team or football decisions.
So Jason fits in that mold.
Everything that Jerry says, Jason does, clearly.
And the idea that he's going to bring in some forward-thinking, progressive, young, aggressive, young coach to fill that spot and make all the decisions is just silly to me.
That's not Jerry.
He was even loyal to Dave Campo for a while.
He was loyal to Barry Sweeter who.
I'm not saying he's not loyal.
He is loyal.
But in some of these situations, you can be loyal to a fault.
But what is he loyal to?
Is he loyal to Jason Garrett or is he loyal to what Jason Garrett provides,
which is a vessel for him to run the team.
Yeah. Joy Tailed with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News.
I mean, Jerry is so powerful that, and I guess you get into a certain point in your life.
I mean, the thing about LeBron James, he is so powerful that if LeBron,
let's say the season ends for the Lakers and he and Kevin Durant are having dinner together,
you know, it's like, oh my God, the world's ending.
Like you get so big that who you have dinner with can create chaos in the marketplace.
Well, MBA Free Agency is so watched and follow that you have to be careful which emojis you use when you do things.
No, no question. If you like a tweet, it ends up on Woz's account. Yeah. All right, I'm the stock broker.
I am going to tell you when you ask a question, should you buy, sell or hold your stock? Here we go.
Time to
Buy
Colin will decide if he'll buy
Buy it
Sell
Or hold
So you guys were just talking about this
Buy sell or hold
Jason Garrett and
Dak Prescott
will not be together
next season in Dallas
Well it should be noted
Jason Garrett's only had one losing season
That's when Tony Romo got hurt
And they didn't have a competent backup
And Dak is 26 and 15 as a starter
And as of this week
They are in the playoff race
And that Jason Garrett is under contract
to the 2019 season, and DAC only makes $720,000 next season.
So I think it's pretty obvious.
John, sell, sell, sell!
Yeah, Jason Garrett and Dak Prescott, chances are, for at least a year, they will be together.
Buy-Seller Hold, the Packers will make the playoffs.
Well, they're currently at 500.
I think more troubling.
They play at Seattle Thursday.
Seattle's running the football with great frequency and efficiency, and Green Bay can at times,
but they're 0 and 4 on the road this year,
and they've never done well in Seattle.
And one of the reasons is they don't have a running game.
Running games travel.
Running games eat the clock.
Running games keep the ball away from Russell Wilson.
The Packers remaining schedule at Seattle, at Minnesota, at Chicago.
John, sell, sell, sell.
I don't think Green Bay makes the playoffs.
I think they're in it until week 17, but they don't.
Buy seller hold, this will be Rob Grunkowski's final season.
in New England. Well, he has only caught one touchdown pass since week one. He watched this
week's game. Here's the other troubling part. Belichick's a data guy. The Patriots in the last two
years are 11 and 2 without Gronk. And never forget, Gromk acknowledged. Yeah, they were trying to
trade me before the draft. So, John, I think it's obvious. Gronk's no longer the best tied in in football.
certainly not the most reliable Patriot
and will not be a patriot next year.
Buy seller hold, Andrew Luck
will face Tom Brady in the
AFC championship game for a second
time. You know I love me some Andrew
Luck. You love both of them. I love
both these guys. First
of all, here's
the problem with the Colts.
They have done a remarkable
job to rebuild that offensive line.
And that's the first thing
they should have rebuilt.
If you buy a house, the first thing you do shouldn't be the yard or the kitchen, you've got to get insurance.
The old line they've rebuilt is Andrew Luck's insurance.
Marlon Mack is a good running back, and T.Y. Hilton is an excellent long threat, and they have three workable tight ends.
But that defense up front, their pass rush has completely evaporated over time.
Kenny Moore is a good corner, but they need defensive help.
Listen, no defense is great, but if you think they can beat Kansas City and Kansas City.
Kansas City in Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh and Tom Brady and it's not going to happen.
This is a bad year to have an average to below average defense.
So John, sell, sell, sell.
Brady and luck don't meet in the championship.
Buy sell or hold, Draymond Green won't be on the Warriors next season.
Listen, one of the things we've known about Draymond Green from day one, he's the least
skilled player they have that starts.
And we also know he's been a vital cog in this team.
He's to bounce with an ice club on a team full of a bunch of a bunch of people.
of guys that are, you know, wear skinny jeans. But here's the problem with Draymond. Again,
this is an analytically driven organization. He has the fewest points per game in the last five
seasons. He is shooting 24% from three. That's the lowest since his rookie year. So he was always
a marginal asset offensively. He is now a liability offensively. So John,
bye, bye, bye, bye. Yeah, I don't think he's going to be a warrior next year. Last one, buy-seller-hole.
will choose between Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball by the end of the season.
Now, both were number two picks for the Lakers.
Now, Brandon's in his third year and Lonzo's in his second.
Lonzo has largely been, believe it or not, what LeBron thought he would be.
Long, good rebounder, good vision, got better at free throw shooting, very chill, easy to play with.
Brandon Ingram is not the player LeBron thought he was getting.
His numbers are down across the board this year.
field goal, three point, assist, rebound.
And frankly, there are nights when he's on the floor, and he is the second best young forward
they have to Kyle Kuzma.
John, by, bye, bye.
LeBron's going to make a choice, Ingram Lonzo, and I think at this point, he'd choose Lonzo
ball.
You know, that Levy and Bell situation is really interesting.
I just want to talk about this for a second.
Let's just for a second, Levy and Bell is going to make money.
and Lavin Bell, everybody's arguing about.
He really did himself no favors.
Can I make an argument that Lavian Bell will be fine?
What he really did, I mean, what he really did is he hurt the, quote, star running back brand.
The Steelers didn't miss a beat without him.
The Eagles in New England last year got to the Super Bowl with a bunch of service little backs.
The Seattle Seahawks lead the NFL in rushing with a bunch of guys, you don't even know where they played college.
Lavian Bell may have lost some money, but what he really hurt was the star running back brand in the NFL.
I mean, Cleveland got rid of Carlos Hyde a couple weeks ago.
They inserted a rookie.
Now they're a better running team.
We saw San Francisco lost their big running back, right, before the season started.
And they inserted a guy, Matt, what is it, Matt Breda, undrafted.
This is the same running game.
I mean, what Lavian Bell did, did he hurt himself?
Yeah, I mean, he'll make a bunch of money.
But he really hurt the star running back brand.
Seattle leads the league with a bunch of guys.
New England, Philly Super Bowl with a bunch of guys.
James Connor, a guy, haven't missed a beat.
San Francisco, undrafted guy.
Cleveland goes with a rookie.
I mean, when I look at this whole situation, I mean,
how's Zeeke's team doing in Dallas, four and five?
David Johnson and Arizona is amazing.
They're 2 and 7.
Sequin Barkley is the next.
They're 2 and 7.
You go to the last 10 Super Bowl winners.
One team had to start running back.
Seattle, 2013, Marshawn Lynch.
It's a bunch of guys.
Starting running backs for the last 10 Super Bowl winners.
Legerrett, Blunt, Dionne, Dionne, C.J. Anderson, Shane Verrine,
Ray Rice, Amad, Bradshaw, James Starks, Pierre Thomas, Willie Parker.
And Marshawn.
Like, when I look at Lavient, I know he lost money.
He did no favors to the star running back brand in the NFL.
Steelers did not, you saw Thursday, did not miss a beat without him.
It's a salary cap, hard cap league.
Got to watch who you pay and how much you pay him.
He'll make his money, but there's going to be other star running backs.
You're not going to make the big money.
It's just not a good trend right now, and he didn't help it.
Joel Clatt, around the corner, we will argue we always do.
to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.
All right, put your seatbelt on, kids.
We got a little ride.
Got a little bumpy here.
So I apparently am a jerk because I think Michigan and Oklahoma would both get beat by Alabama.
But when you're splitting hairs on that, give me Oklahoma because they'll be more exciting.
Mr. Idealistic over here says, you're one of the guys that believes there'll be a team that's more deserving.
Well, of course, there's going to be a team that's more deserving.
and that team should be rewarded.
There's no doubt about that.
What if it's even?
Can I as a network say I want the more interesting matchup?
I want points.
I look at these teams.
I mean, so you want to include a team just based on whether the matchup is interesting?
Yes.
I hate that.
First of all, let me just say that the fact that we live in a world
in which our system is so subjective that you can have that take is awful.
I can't stand it.
It sucks.
You don't like the argument that CBS with March Madness or Fox with the NFL or ESS
in this tournament, if it's down to splitting hairs, that ESPN can't say, we know Oklahoma will drop 30 on them,
and maybe 60 to 30, but it's going to be bad.
If that was the case, then why didn't we have the Cubs in the World Series?
Well, because that was.
Because they played the games.
Yes.
And if Michigan and Oklahoma are, we're coin flipping here.
I mean, I don't know if we're coin flipping.
Listen, you're arguing for dessert before the meal, right?
Like, you're arguing for just, just give me the matchup that I want.
Just give me what I want all the time.
This is more exciting.
This is, I mean, that's frivolous.
You're like a child.
You're like a child arguing for his Halloween candy before dinner.
Goulete eat a donut before every meal.
A donut is a meal.
Goulet, I'm behind you on this.
A donut is absolutely a meal.
You're arguing for Halloween candy.
No, you cannot have milk duds before your peanut butter sandwich.
Okay, why can't we have, what's that central Florida school?
They never lost a game.
They're deserving.
They get stomped and not because of bikers rally.
You can't even make an argument that they're deserving based on the schedule that they play
and the number of power five opponents that they play.
Well, you get into your deserving stuff.
You're getting into this.
I mean, here's the thing, though.
I would make the argument that you're wrong 100%
at that Oklahoma would probably get beat by Alabama
by a greater margin than Michigan.
And last week's game proves that out.
What last week did when Alabama, I'm speaking of,
played Mississippi State.
Mississippi State's got a very good defense.
And what did they do?
Basically stop Alabama.
When you've got a great offense averaging over 50 points
and you're held to about 25 or under,
that's basically stopping that offense.
You held them to half of their output.
How many did they score?
Zero.
Yeah, I'll go.
Okay.
But that's Mississippi State.
They can't play offense out of a wet paper bag right now.
So LSU and Mississippi State.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Hey, listen, listen, author, I've got a scenario here where Michigan, Georgia,
Clemson, these teams, Notre Dame,
there's actually a crack in the foundation of Alabama.
And that is the fact that you can, if you play dominant defense,
actually,
Stop them.
I would make the argument that Michigan's offense is much better than Mississippi State.
Clearly, Georgia's is.
I think that there's more argument that Michigan would have a better chance to beat Alabama than Oklahoma.
Oklahoma cannot stop a breeze.
Like, they can't stop anything.
Did you see what they did last year?
Taylor Cornelius threw for 500 yards on them.
He is a 500.
Excellent prospect.
The point being this.
You're the worst.
No, no, no, no.
You think I'm just being frivolous here.
You want your Lafie-Taffy before your dinner.
I get it.
No, what I want is I've seen Johnny Mansell against Bama twice, and that team had no defense.
I've seen Deshaun.
I've seen Cam.
I've seen all these high-powered offenses with world-class offensive coaches.
And Nick loses sleep.
When Nick goes into the LSU game, he's like, dang, going to score on us.
Are you hearing yourself talk right now?
I am.
And I got to be honest with you.
You want to include a team in the playoff based on how much sleep Nick Sabin will
or won't lose. That's ridiculous. I honestly think about that stuff all the time. Can I make
you uncomfortable? No, no. I'm perfectly comfortable being the smartest guy in the conversation.
Not you here. So my point is, give me your top 10. So this is the college football rankings.
Throw these up. I don't have a problem with them. I think they're all fine. Yeah, they're all fine.
And by the way, they didn't change for the first time week to week. These are the top six right here.
First time they didn't change in the playoffs history. I don't have any problem this second. But in a couple of weeks, I want Oklahoma ahead of Michigan.
So now what's your top 10? Basically, the same.
same. My top 10 would just throw LSU out and then I'm including UCF.
UCF and my top 10 is kind of like, you remember when you were in high school and you
like, you had that girl you wanted to ask to the prom, but then she got asked and then
your number two and three got asked, and then your number four got asked, and you're like,
man, I'm down to like five or six. That's UCF for me at the 10 spot. Let me ask you this.
I'm down like, there was nobody else. I get it. Let me ask you this. I thought you
you would like that analogy. You love analogies when it comes to like marriage. I gave you a
prom analogy and you're just going to graze right over.
it. Laffy taffy. Okay, Laffy Taffy. Okay, let's get back. We both love Harbaugh. I don't want this to be an anti-Michigan rant.
Okay.
My wife's from Michigan.
I want to be like that.
You seem like they're uninteresting.
No, no, no.
I go there every couple years.
I want to be beloved.
Okay.
So the point is this.
It's not about Harbaugh.
We love him.
I made a mistake.
I said before the year, I said Big Ten's creeping up on the SEC.
No, it's not.
The Big Ten is absolutely creeping on the SEC.
The middle of the SEC is not pretty good.
Who cares about the middle of anything?
I want the top.
Okay.
Do you fly, by the way, favorite airlines?
Do you go to the ninth and brag about it?
No, I'm committed to,
United. Okay, there you go. Big Time airline. I don't want to brag about the seventh best team in any
conference. The bottom line is Ohio State's a mess. Wisconsin's a disappointment. Michigan State can't
throw. Northwestern has one NFL player. Michigan's defense is shutting down a big bowl of nothing.
And I like it, but let's not go crazy on Michigan's defense. They are facing a bunch of
crazy on Alabama's defense for shutting down Mississippi State?
How would Alabama's defense for shutting out America for by eight straight years?
I mean, at some point, I mean, this isn't even one of the better Alabama defenses.
I mean, they're still very good.
They're still very talented.
I would argue that there is a path for some of these teams to beat this version of Alabama.
What is that path?
The path is the fact that we saw Mississippi State stop Alabama's offense.
And so now all you've got to do is play competent offense and you're going to be in the
game because that's all you can really hope for, right? When you've got a team that's this good,
and Alabama is this good. They're my favorite. I would favor them over everyone in the country
by about seven points. But all you would hope for, all you would hope for, be within a score
late. A one possession game. Toa Tunga Vailoa has thrown one pass in the fourth quarter all
year. I mean, I think he's going to play great in the fourth quarter, but do I know that? I don't know
that. I think Clemson gives them a fight. Clemson gives them a fight. Certainly, Clemson's the
most balanced team in the country, but I think Michigan is right there.
Here's what I don't want. It's easy to say Michigan doesn't play great offense.
They don't.
They play unbelievable complementary offense. Did you know that they're fourth in the country
in time of possession? You know what that means for their defense? They've seen 56 less
snaps overall this season than Alabama. Three a weekend. I mean, that's a full game.
They've basically played a full game less than Alabama has on the defensive side.
They've seen 160 plus less snaps than OU. All I'm saying is they play.
complimentary, right? I mean, that's how Jim Harbaugh wants to play him. If he wanted to score
45, I think that they could. I just don't think that their defense would be as dominant if they did
that. Did you watch them against Northwestern? I did. I did the game. Yeah, I know. They were
trying to score and they couldn't. It was ugly. First of all, their running back core is better now
than it has been during the course of the entire season. Their offensive line is much better. You're making
me argue for a team that's clearly very good and it's a very easy argument. They've got Tarique Black
back as a wide receiver right now. He's probably their most talented wide receiver.
They've got three monsters on the outside. Nico Collins, Donovan People's Jones,
Tariq Black. By the way, they got the top NFL prospect of tight in.
I'm just done with you. Okay, right now, put your name on it.
Show me some. Put some respect on my name.
Bama Michigan play tomorrow. What's the score?
I would say Bama. Bama wins that game 3221, 3417.
I would bet my 401K, it's not that close.
Okay, Bama Oklahoma.
Put some respect on it.
Bamo wins in an OU Bama matchup, probably 5642.
And you choose the other one?
56.
I just want to see home runs and eat candy.
You're like a child.
You literally said, Bama, Oklahoma, 5642.
That's like the world's best bowl of ice.
No, it's not. It's still a blowout.
Somebody drops four...
You know what? You go, you know what? There's a bowl of kale outside the studio.
You enjoy that. Go have a big buck. You know what? Cale used to be what they put at Wendy's
buffet in between the meals by the ice. I got to go. I'm worn out from you.
I'm worn out. Ah, here we go, live hour number three in Los Angeles.
I Heart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, FS1, wherever you may be, and however you may be listening.
Joy Taylor just discovered something about me live on, well, we were in tape.
We were in commercial, excuse me, and what did you learn about me, Joy?
I learned that Colin Cowher is a dramatic sneezer.
When I sneeze, I just let it go.
Yes, I, too, am a dramatic sneezer.
We are not very well-liked dramatic sneezers.
You get, we're frowned upon.
My whole thing is, I'm just going to let it go.
Of course it feels so much better
Of course it does
Who are these people that sneezing
They're like
I learn something too
I'm never going to your desk again
Yeah there's membranes all over the place here
Yeah I know
It's disgusting
I don't bother to like cover my face
I'm just like I aim it in a direction
Same here
So I'm courteous
It's got to get it all out
By the way with that
Nice segue

Great stuff.
Coming up in 15 minutes, Bucke's, former NFL player, now a scout.
He writes for NFL Network.
We bring him on the show.
He gives you all sorts of good information.
There's only one game you'll see Libyan Bell in this year,
and it's coming up right here later and best for last.
But let's start with this.
The Warriors, they won last night without the suspended Draymond Green.
And here was KD being asked about the spat a couple of nights ago after the game.
Kevin, have you and Dremont been able to hash anything out?
No.
Do you see that happening anytime soon?
I'm sure it will.
We've got a long season ahead.
Obviously, it's definitely weird not having them around and not just everything that went down.
But that's what happens.
Shit happens in the NBA.
And, you know, just try to do my best to move on and be a basketball player.
I don't got nothing else to do, but to be the best player I can be every single day.
I try not to worry about nothing else.
Hmm. Sounds like it was no big deal.
Sounds like everybody's over it.
Ah, the fabric's starting to tear near Silicon Valley, is it not?
It all started with a couple of little arguments with Kobe and Shaq, Michael Jordan and Jerry Reinsdorf, the big three in Boston.
There's a couple little small arguments.
No big deal. I'll get back to it.
I had an NBA player text me last night. He said, K.D. holds grudges.
Another NBA player told Marcus Thompson a fine reporter,
Katie is gone.
Bank on it.
This magnifies the truth about the relationship with Kevin Durant and the Warriors.
It's always been Steph's team.
That's why Kevin Durant is always trying to prove to you and prove to me,
improve to Draymond, improved to Twitter, improved to the media.
It's my team.
I got power here.
There's an old saying, the greatest sign of power,
is you never have to use it.
Tony Soprano walked into a room.
It was understood.
Roger Goodell, Jerry Jones, Stan Cronky, big people in sports.
You know, they walk into rooms in Miami, in Dallas.
You go to any city in the country.
The guys with power don't have to flex.
It's understood.
Steph Curry never flexes here.
We all know.
He never tries to prove it's his team.
It's understood.
He doesn't go on Twitter, doesn't hold big press conferences.
He recruited Kevin Durant.
He was so secure with himself.
This is Steph's team.
And Golden State and Kevin Durant has always been an imperfect fit.
They won a title without him.
They beat him in the playoffs.
They set a regular season 73 win record without him.
And they had a unanimous MVP.
And it wasn't KD.
It would be like being the best actor in the world if you were Kevin Durant.
And you join a franchise that's already number one at the box office and was started by somebody else.
And he's still in the movie, too.
Oh, you're great.
And the movie, the franchise is better with you.
Don't get me wrong.
You have made the franchise better.
But, dog, they were number one in the box office without you.
And the guy who created it, a lot of people like him more anyway.
When you leave the room, they like him more than you and they think you're kind of flaky and insecure.
And they think he's secure and cool.
And that's what we got here.
This Draymond, Kevin Durant, dust up.
You don't see this with Steph.
You ever notice that?
Clay and Steph, no dust up, Kerr, Bob Meyer, Draymont, nobody messes with Steph.
He changed the league.
This is his team.
Look around the NBA.
The great teams become the personality of their superstar.
Magic.
Those Lakers, they were called Showtime.
Magic, fun, smiles, flashy.
They became magic.
Johnson. Tim Duncan's dynasty in San Antonio became him. Unselfish. Pass more, take less.
The Jazz and Carl Malone and John Stockton. It was workman-like, just like they're two stars.
Michael Jordan's Bulls, relentless, just like Mike. And LeBron's teams, all of them. They're
smart, just like him. This Golden State Warrior franchise,
embodies all of Steph Curry's traits.
They're free-flowing.
They're fun.
They're clever.
They're finesse.
They're low-tension, high-performance.
And they're a little streaky.
If they embodied Kevin Durant's primary personality,
they would be insecure, agitated, and kind of flaky.
Let me shift gears to this.
So it was announced yesterday officially.
kind of a bummer because I think I speak for everybody, joy and myself.
But here's one thing, Lavian Bell,
and a lot of pro athletes don't think about.
And it's something I think about all the time.
I'm going to throw this out to you.
When you go work at a big corporation, they pay you a salary.
Now, you probably don't consider that office they gave you a salary.
The insurance, the 401K, if you're working a really good company like I do,
working with quality people, driving to a stable and
environment that's got good management and good coworkers.
Pay for my cell phone.
I got three cafes right on campus.
Now at Fox, if I was doing this myself, I wouldn't be able to, would I have to pay for
the guy that sets up my board and the extra producer and the extra graphic person and I'd pay
for my own insurance and I'd have to start a SEP because I wouldn't have a 401?
Just because your salary says this, when you work at a really good.
place, there's a lot of additives that you may not count, but they matter. I said for years,
don't chase money. Chase great bosses. There's a sea of money. There's not a sea of great management.
When you work at a running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, you almost always last 20 years
have pro bowlers blocking for you. No team in the NFL has drafted and developed wide receivers
better than Pittsburgh over the last 15 years.
They have a tremendous scouting department, so your coworkers are way better than league average.
And by the way, you're in the playoffs every year at that big corporation called the Bittsburg Steelers,
and they have tremendous revenue streams.
So, unlike the Packers, they'll spend money on a free agent.
Yes, Lavian Bell gave up $14 million, but he gave up the rest of that, too.
Lavian Bell chose to sit out a season, but it wasn't just sitting out a season.
He'll make money elsewhere, but he'll never work for a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers.
You go ahead and chase money, but the Steelers in 2018, for a running back, that is a great place to go to work.
Former NFL player, high draft pick, scout,
and now working for the NFL network friend to our show.
Got thoughts on Levian Bell.
Bucky Brooks, around the corner, coming up.

my next guest, former NFL DB.
Then he was a scout for multiple teams, including the Seahawks and the Panthers.
Now he's got a podcast, Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks, good dudes.
And Bucky is joining us.
He does every week.
We love that.
So the Lavian Bell situation, I've been following you on Twitter.
You've been very pro-Lavian Bell.
You've been very, and I'm not anti-Lavian.
I don't like to see great athletes give money back, because especially running backs.
So I'm like in the category of dude.
I want to see you play.
But you've been pro-Lavian Bell on this.
Why?
Just because I think it's so funny to me,
like the Great American Public
typically has a tendency to side with the team
in these situations as opposed to the players.
But if we look at it,
look, Levy and Bell is a guy who has came in the league
as a second round pick,
played on like a bargain basement deal for four years,
never got paid.
He finally has his opportunity to get paid.
He has put up numbers that are historic,
like historic numbers at the position,
and the Pittsburgh still has haven't found a way to pay him what he's worth.
And a lot of people that have talked about,
I even heard Doug Gottlieb talk about,
they offer him a five-year deal, $70 million, $30 million guaranteed.
Well, the big thing is Pittsburgh and even the Green Bay Packers,
they do a thing which are called real guarantees and practical guarantees.
So Pittsburgh typically puts their guaranteed money in the first year of the deal.
Yeah.
Then they'll have a practical guarantee on the next year.
Well, Levy and Bell was taking a thing where he was going to play on the franchise tag.
It was like $12 million.
Then it would be $14 million.
The next year would be about $19 million before we talked about the quarterback stuff.
So to be whole in terms of guaranteed money, he needed about $33 million.
So what the Pittsburgh Steelers wanted was to give him a five-year deal, $70 million with $30 million guaranteed.
He would give five years to the team while taking less guaranteed money.
that didn't make any sense.
But there was drug suspensions.
There was stuff.
Yeah, there had been.
But, you know, there are other stipulations and stuff like that.
Like, it always plays to the team's interest when you say that
because you know what happens when you get suspended?
You don't get paid.
So you don't get paid anyway.
So they could have put things in there.
They could be avoidables or whatever.
I liken it to the situation that Von Miller had when John Elway had to make a decision
whether to pay him or not.
They didn't give him the option.
And they eventually had to pay him because he played at a level.
Levy and Bills play.
dick takes that he should be paid as the best running back in football.
Okay, but people say what about James Connor?
Stats.
James Connor.
It's funny that you say that because I talked to an NFL defensive coordinator
today coming in and he said,
we now know what the Pittsburgh still is are.
Before you were like, man, they may get your magic wand,
they may get Levy and Bell back.
That changes their team.
He says the team that is probably turning cartwheels right now are the New England
Patriots because the New England Patriots always make teams play left-handed.
So now when they play the Pittsburgh Steelers, they will focus on taking away.
Antonio Brown and Juju Smith-Schuster.
And they will make the game a James Connor, Jesse James game.
Can you beat us dying slowly?
That's what they call it.
Can they nickel and dime their way with the running back and the tied-in doing it?
And when I talked to a couple of guys, they said, look, James Connor's been awesome.
He's been outstanding, but he's a little more of a one-trick pony.
He's a down and dirty, grind it out back.
Levy and Bill is a complete running back.
Levin Bill can run it.
Levinville can go outside and run routes like a wide receiver.
Levy and Bell is excellent in pass protection.
He is a difference maker.
He is special.
And so when you take him and you remove him from the equation,
they become a lot easier to defend.
And I know people are going to talk about,
well, look at the numbers.
The eight games this year and the eight games last year,
the numbers are better.
It's cool.
We've heard Bill Belichick talk about.
You don't know your team until week 10.
The game changes after Thanksgiving.
It does.
It does.
When you get into December, people hone in.
This is why I don't fall over Kansas City.
Everybody loves Kansas City.
I'm like, I saw the Rams last year.
I know they're good.
I want to see Patrick Mahomes in a hailstorm.
So, no, I will say this.
The numbers tell me James Connor has been Lavian's equal.
Lavian Bell is an 85 catch running back.
That is absurd.
You combine, somebody's going to pay for them because the Jets,
I don't think the Colts will.
I think maybe they will.
They need some weapons.
There are a lot of teams.
There are a lot of teams that need a running back to alleviate pressure on a young quarterback.
That's the thing.
Teams in need with a young quarterback, they need weapons.
Imagine Levy and Bill being behind Sam Donald in New York, the kind of pressure that it would take off.
Not only being able to hand it to them, but being able to throw it to them, gives them a dynamic playmaker.
When you look at the best teams in the league and people talk about running backs being devalued,
but it's not a coincidence that the top teams have special playmakers at the running back position.
And they're not just runners.
They're guys that can impact the game and the passing game.
And it's very, very important that we make that distinguished.
In fact, the hybrid running backs are the ones that deserve to get paid.
Todd Gurley, David Johnson, Lev Bell will get paid.
I think Kareem Hunt.
Al-Kamar.
Those guys are different.
Catch run, block, can do it all.
Zeeke.
Everything.
Zique there.
It's different than, hey, we're just going to throw somebody in there.
And I think what I would tell people, look at the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Philadelphia Eagles were able to do it by committee last year, but look at them this year.
It doesn't always hit, just taking a bunch of scrap pieces and throwing them into backfield.
You need to have special players.
Okay, we're getting close to Thanksgiving.
I got my team under the radar.
Who is your team?
Because this happens every year.
We hit Thanksgiving a couple years ago.
It was Atlanta.
And Atlanta was just hanging around 500.
And then we looked up and we're like, oh, they're on a seven-game winning street.
streak. This team isn't under the radar, but I say they haven't been talked about enough.
The L.A. charges are a team that you need to talk about because when you look at the team and
the way Super Bowl teams are supposed to be constructed, they have the right recipe.
And the reason is because they got a quarterback in Phillip Rivers, a veteran player who's
played at a high level. It's consistent. He is taking care of the football, which you have to have.
You have Melvin Gordon, a running back with the game.
Outstanding. Great player. He can plant it. He can catch the ball out of the back.
Best receiving court in the league? And then they got these big bodies that they're just
going all over the league. But the reason you want to get excited about them, they have the potential
to be a dominant defense. Joey Bosa hasn't played for them yet. So now you potentially have two
pass rushes in Melvin, Ingram, and Joey Bosa that can get after the passer. Gus Bradley has been
on record. This year, more than ever, you don't want to blitz. You want to be able to get it
with four and cover with seven. They can do that, their team that is dangerous. By the way,
one of the teams I really like is the Colts. And I'm a nerd. I'll just say it right now. I'm a nerd.
one of the reasons we get along is you wear sweaters
sweaters you're not trying to be cool you're trying to be comfortable
I like comfortable guys
I love Chris Battle of the Colts
he took a lot of heat for going after two
interior offensive linemen
that Colts all line
now now Tennessee may change all that this weekend
with Jarrell Casey
but I'm the best team of the losing
record in this league to me are the Colts
oh they figured it out I think there are a couple
of things that you can talk about the Colts where you should be
excited about the Colson where they're going and how they're progressing when Andrew
Luckett quarterback. That offensive line that you talked about, they haven't given them a second
four games. Part of that is due to Frank Wright really understanding how to protect the quarterback.
The ball is coming out quick than it ever has on Andrew Luck. They're not waiting on
these seven-step drops. He is getting the ball out quickly. To your point, their tight ends
are getting huge numbers. They have five tight ends, Colin. Five tight ends that play and contribute.
They have, and look, no one talks about it.
I know you've made fun about the Detroit Lions and Matt Patricia and some of the stuff,
but the Detroit Lions gave away a really good player in Eric Ebron.
For whatever reason, he was a top 10 pick.
It didn't work out there.
The Indianapolis Coast have taken him.
He has 10 touchdowns.
He is great for them.
He has 10 touchdowns.
And I'm going to use Frank Reich's own words when they acquired him.
He said, he is our LeBron James, meaning that we can put them on one side,
we can clear out the floor and let him go to work.
Well, now what you're seeing with the Indianapolis Coast,
They're putting three and four big bodies on the field at one time.
They can run the ball better than they had in recent years.
But also, their big tight ends, two of those guys, Moe Alley Cox and Eric Swope, their former basketball players.
So now they can post you up, they can create mismatches.
They're doing it.
They have 15 combined touchdowns in the tight end room.
No, their tight ends are the deepest in the league.
They're dangerous, and their tight ends are making up for the fact that they really don't have another receiver outside T.
T.Y. Hilton.
I love what the coach are doing.
and that young defense is playing better.
They are definitely a team.
I don't know if this is the year that they can get into playoffs,
but I think with the money that they have and the picks that they have next year,
it's a team that we'll talk about.
Okay, so, you know, one of the teams that, I mean, Troy Aikman talked about the Cowboys yesterday,
and he said they were dysfunctional.
I agreed.
He said they were overhaul.
I disagreed.
Now he says he likes him in the East.
Here's a bite from Troy Aikman on Dallas radio.
Right now, if I had to pick somebody, the Thanksgiving game is huge.
But I think that if Dallas can keep it within.
within two games going into Thanksgiving and then win that game.
I think they're positioned pretty well.
What are they going to do with DAC?
What do you do with DAC?
Oh, you pay him.
What do you pay him?
Oh, you pay him quarterback money.
You pay him franchise quarterback.
So here's why this is the perfect opportunity for the Dallas Cowboys to pay him.
Because Dak Prescott was a fourth round pig.
Say, Dak Prescott is making $700,000.
Yes.
When you slide a contract over.
that is $18, $19 million per, which is what Case Keenan makes.
Oh, I'll pay him that. I'll pay him that.
Right.
So if you think about it, this is the time to get it because he hasn't played great.
You can make the argument that, look, we believe in you.
We're going to give you a franchise deal, but it can be on their terms.
That then would allow them to save enough money to then go and add some other weapons and pieces.
So if I go $18 million for $3.
I think you can go probably up to 20 million because look at how it has changed.
Who's 20 million? Case Keenham?
I think Case is like 18, but I think you can reasonably play him 20 because the market is changing.
Derek Carr is at 25 and he hasn't played great.
Alex Smith is at 23.
I think you could put him in that ballpark and probably feel good about what you're committing to him.
But I think here's the thing.
When you look at the Cowboys and what is available, who are the quarterbacks that you potentially could get to replace him?
I don't know.
Will Greer?
I mean, the draft is out there.
I mean, people are saying that Justin Herbert may go back in,
and now you don't have a first-round pick,
so you can't get him.
You have Will Greer, and you have a lot of unknowns.
The one thing that we have seen from Dak,
when surrounded by the right pieces and played the right way,
he can win games.
And so if I've seen him win games,
I'm okay with what he is.
I just have to know exactly what he is
and pay him at the right level.
I think this is the perfect time for Jerry to do it.
Remember, Jerry's a businessman.
That's why Jerry's talking about it, because he knows all the leverage is in the cowboy's hands.
So why not pay him now when you got him, put him on a short-term deal,
give him his money, make him feel good, and then come back and say, look, we'll do a short-term deal,
and if you play at a great level, we'll revisit it.
Finally, L.A. Rams, I've heard this for about six months.
They didn't play any of their starters in the preseason.
NFL did not love that.
You work at the NFL network.
NFL would prefer you play a little.
A little bit.
They didn't play anybody.
Right.
And in camp, there's a lot of walk-through day.
and during this chaos they dealt with in Southern California,
Stan Cronkey has gone above and beyond very good owners.
I am hearing Sean McVeigh, by the way, personal relationships with players.
Call me Sean, I'm not coach.
It is different.
I don't know if it works.
Will they get soft?
You know, the NFL's had no pain, no gain, got to suffer to win.
It's almost like American religion.
You got to give something back to get something, right?
Rams are like, no.
we are going to flourish and shower you with support and praise.
What do you make of this?
Because it's pretty obvious what they're doing.
Look, Sean McVeigh, when people talk about,
oh, I want to find the next Sean McVey.
I want to find the next young, hip coach.
Sean McVeigh is 55 in NFL dog years.
And part of it is because his granddad was president of the San Francisco 49ers.
He has been around it and seen it.
And so if you're around the 49ers at that time during their heyday,
They treated their players first class.
Yeah, they did.
Eddie to Bartolo was the best.
Awesome owner, made it about the players.
It wasn't this divisive thing.
We were all in.
It's going to be first class.
Now let's go win.
When we win, everyone celebrates, everybody gets a part of it.
So with Sean McVeigh, I'm saying this without knowing him,
I believe he saw like, man, if you treat your players well,
they'll perform for you.
If you develop a relationship with your players,
they'll go above and beyond.
I know we have seen New England and the model where it seems
like it's a little harsh. There's not as personal the relationships between coaches and players
or whatever. But I do believe what Sean McVeigh is doing is the new way that you have to connect
with today's player. I agree with you. And I think it works. And by the way, this has been what the
NBA, I mean, the Lakers forever. They had training camp over in Hawaii. I had a couple of buddies,
Doug Gottlieb, who had a tryout with the Lakers. He's like, man, they paid you. You got paid
before you showed up for the camp. Like the Lakers were always like, listen, we treat our guys
really good. Jerry Jones has done that.
The Rams are going in that. Listen,
players talk, players recruit players.
Yeah, so I'm jaded,
I'm biased. I play for Mack Brown
at a University of Northern Carolina. He did
the same thing at Texas. Coach Brown would
tell you it is all about the players.
Whatever the players needed, the players got.
And he made it very
central to his theme that I'm
building the program around the players.
It's a partnership. What I've always said about
pro ball, which is different than college ball.
College ball is a little more of a
dictatorship and the pros is a cooperation. If I can show you as a player, look, if you buy into
what we're saying, not only will we win, I can get you paid. I think Sean McVeigh understands
all of that, which is why he can take these guys that are deemed to be mercenaries, guys on the one-year
deals, these short-term contracts that want to get paid, he can take them and say, look, you buy
into what we're doing. We're going to treat you first class. And at the end of the day, you'll get
paid either here or somewhere else. We're going to elevate your game. I think he's sin and I think
his players understand that he is really about them, which is why they play so well for him.
Former Players Scout now NFL Network, our friend, Bucky Brooks, good seeing you.
By the way, on IHeart Radio Saturdays with my friend Mark Willard, 4 to 8 Eastern.
Good seeing you.
Joy with the news.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So tensions are high in the bay right now, especially after Draymond and Kevin Durant's little
tussle following their loss of the clippers on Monday nights.
The game is tied in the closing moments.
D.
And they had little fights on the sideline, and then it carried over into the locker
room.
And then Draymond called Katie the B word and said he was making the season about himself
and how he's handled the pending free agency.
And now it's becoming a family matter because Katie's brother, Tony, posted this on his
Instagram story.
Oh, boy.
Now, obviously, we can't confirm this is about Draymond, but, you know, we are in the middle
of following everything.
happening. So he said true colors ain't hard
to see when someone is mad. It's so
much more clearer now. L.O.L.
And he also added, instead of competing
with what's already written, just follow along
before the greatness is done rubbing off on
you and people see you for what you really
are. Now again, this could be about nothing.
I don't get it. It could be about nothing.
I don't get it. I mean, well, I mean, if let's say
it is about Dremont, then he's saying Dramon showed
his true colors when he got angry.
All right. And then
I'm assuming that if that's
about Dremont, the second part would be
that, you know, he's around greatness
with Katie.
All right.
You don't know.
But you know, probably not the best time.
I remember Michael Vicks.
Remember Michael Vicks' brother used to talk a lot?
About like twice a year, Michael Vicks' brother came out and get Michael in trouble.
Michael was like, hey, it's not me saying it.
My brother.
Well, yeah, but this is what happened.
I mean, he posted something on his Instagram a couple weeks ago about, you know,
actually it was like the beginning of the season when Katie said like one win.
Do you think they'll be together in a year?
Seriously.
this is a lot of noise.
It is, but winning makes people forget about all the noise.
When a couple can't even stop fighting in public,
you know it's worse on the drive home in the car.
Like when these guys can't, they know the cameras are on.
Right.
When you can't stop fighting in public, because the story was after this fight,
they went into the locker room and it was way worse.
And it escalated.
It's like when couples can't stop.
arguing in parties in front of people?
Like, I always imagine they get home and just throw stuff at each other.
Well, look, like a million things could happen between now and the end of the season, right?
Draymond is a huge part of that organization and what that team does.
And Bougie's not ready to go yet.
So I don't think that any moves are made.
I don't think that the rest of the team has bad feelings towards Draymond.
If you ran the team and I said, you can trade Draymond tomorrow.
Katie gives you three-year extension.
Would you do it?
Is it in writing that Katie gives you?
me in three-year extension?
Yes. It's on a napkin, but it's right.
No, no, no. So you wouldn't do napkins?
No, no napkins. I got married on the napkins.
I need paperwork with like, you know, the legal stuff.
I trust napkins, all right.
No, I do not trust napkins.
No, I got to have a guarantee, an actual guarantee that Katie is going to be there.
Obviously, Katie is more valuable overall than Draymond, but no, I'm not risking, I'm not risking that.
Because Katie can change his mind at any moment.
So, Levyon Bell, he's made up his mind.
He decided not to show up to sign the franchise tender, and he decided.
is not going to be playing for the Steelers.
Bucky is obviously behind him.
Other people not so much.
And Pittsburgh fans, for the most part, are not very happy about it.
And some, not all, but some, have decided to start burning jerseys.
Dumb.
That's just social media engineering.
I tend to agree with this.
I don't think it makes a lot of sense to burn a jersey.
I mean, I guess if you're really that mad at Levion, you're not going to wear it again.
So how about Bucky Brooks saying the Patriots are doing backflips?
because, uh, well, look, he's out of sight out of mind, right?
Like, we haven't seen Leveon this year. We forgot how good Levyon is.
Let's not minimize this. He had 85 catches. He's a 200-carry, 85 catch guy.
I got nothing against James Connor. But we're now, we're now minimizing Lavin'Bel
like he's a throwaway back. Right. He's not. He's very, I mean, I would argue he's got a lot.
I don't think he's quite as good as Ezekiel Elliott as a breakaway runner, but as a past catcher,
a blocker, and a in-between-the-tackle guy, he's a tremendous.
Endous players.
He is arguably the best, if not the top, in the top three.
Yes.
David Johnson.
Well, no, Gurley, Zeke, Levion.
And then the guy in Arizona, David Johnson.
Yes.
So losing him is a big deal.
And fans are obviously upset about it.
And, you know, he was the number one picking my fantasy football draft.
So that didn't go well for me.
Finally, Monday nights, Chiefs Rams game has been moved from Mexico City to L.A.
due to poor field conditions at Estabio, Esteka, Shakira Concert,
left the field really in shambles and the NFL decided to move it back to L.A.
So now the Rams have thousands of tickets on their hands because they weren't planning on having a home game this week.
So they've decided to do something pretty awesome with all the tickets that they have.
They announced they'll be giving complimentary tickets to first responders who have been fighting the fires here in the greater Los Angeles community.
And also people have been impacted by the community's recent tragedies.
There was a shooting last week on top of these raging.
fires.
So that's pretty cool.
The Rams have been doing a lot of stuff like this.
Andrew Whitworth donated his week 10 game check to help the family is affected by the shooting.
I was told yesterday I texted an NFL executive and he said, listen, they're going to
keep going to Mexico and London.
This is an initiative.
Of course.
This is just one of those things that happen.
By the way, we've had NBA games canceled because of leaks.
We've had.
I mean, if you can't play there, you can't play there.
Is there something to it?
They lost a ton of money, I'm sure.
Oh, they did.
They lost ticket sales.
endorsements.
They're bummed out.
The NFL did not want to move this.
No, absolutely not, but they didn't have a choice.
And it'll be back there because they want to make it a global game.
Also, just a quick mention.
If you want to help the people affected by the California Wildfires, visit red cross.
org, 1,800 Red Cross, or you can text the word CA Wildfires to $90999 to make a $10
donation.
And we want to thank the first responders and firefighters for all the work that they've
been doing this week.
It's been pretty crazy here in L.A., but we're lucky we have them.
Thank you.
Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Ly News.
Coming up, there's only one game you'll see Levy and Bell in this season,
and it's next and best for last.
Tomorrow, Aaron Rogers and the Packers battle Russell Wilson and the Seahawks
and what could turn out to be an NFC elimination game.
It all starts at 730 Eastern on Fox, NFL Network, and streaming on Prime Video.
I'll take Russell Wilson and Aaron Rogers at home.
Have you done these 23 and me ancestry kits?
Have you done one, Joy?
I have.
They're fascinating.
Right now, through Thanksgiving,
23 and Me ancestry kits, $49 per kit when you buy two or more, 23andme.com slash the herd.
Find out about your family.
Interesting stuff.
So, Lavian Bell, sitting out the season, means he will forego $14.5 million he was guaranteed this year.
So in terms of a cap hit, he would have been the highest paid running back in the National Football League ahead of Shady McCoy, Todd Gurley, and Ezekiel Elliott.
So to give you a sense of what Lavian Bell could have made this year, we want to give you kind of a sense of how much he gave up,
We're going to play a game where I have to guess whether Lavian would have made more or less than somebody famous this year.
Take it away announcer.
Get ready to play.
Less than Lavian.
Here's your host, Joy Taylor.
Oh, it's a fine host.
All right, here we go, yeah.
Where to go?
Hello.
All right.
Would Lévion at 14.5 million guaranteed have made more or less than Nick Saban, the highest paid college football coach?
All right.
So, Nick Sabin's the highest paid football coach in college sports.
would Levian have made more or less than Nick Saban?
My guess is, I think I read this in the USA Today,
that's the newspaper that has the purple section.
I love the purple section.
Greens the money, purple's about like gossip, red is sports,
and, oh, sorry, I got sidetracked.
I'm going to say Nick makes about $8 million a year.
I think Levian makes almost double Nick Saban.
You were wrong on the number that Nick Sabin makes,
but you are right.
Levon would have made more.
Nick Saban's full 2018 compensation is $11 million.
Oh, Lord.
They're still quite strong.
Wow.
All right.
So, would Levion have made more or less than Novak Djokovic, the number one ranked tennis player in the world in 2018 ATP money leader?
I'm playing tennis Saturday.
I'm going to take tennis lessons.
You got a little time off?
How about that?
Oh, sidetracked again.
Okay, these tennis guys make a fortune.
They do.
It's incredible how much tennis players.
Did I ever tell you I was once in a Taco Bell behind Andre Agassi?
I was literally at a Taco Bell and I looked ahead of me.
I'm like, that looks like the Wimbledon champion.
And it was Andre Agassi.
That's an interesting story for multiple reasons.
All right.
I'm going to say that Labian Bell makes less than Djokovic.
Wrong.
Jokovic made $11.2 million in prize money.
He won the Wimbledon and the U.S. Open this year.
What about did he have an endorsement?
Or a watch?
Well, I'm sure he has some endorsement money.
But his salary.
Well, look, we're not counting Levion's endorsements in this.
It's just his salary.
All right.
So would Levion have made more or less than the Edmonton Oilers,
Connor McDavid, who is the highest paid player in the NHL?
Connor McDavid.
Correct.
He's the highest paid guy in the NHL?
That's him.
In Edmonton?
Do they even have a mall in Edmonton?
Shouldn't have some stores.
Lord.
Edmonton has the highest paid hockey player?
Seriously.
I'm going to say
they got a pretty tight salary structure
I'll say Lavian Bell at 14.5
makes more than Connor McDavid.
He does.
Connor McDavid makes 12.5 million.
That's a lot of money in Edmonton.
12.5 million is pretty much a lot of money anywhere.
That's 60 bucks.
Still pretty good.
All right.
So Woodleveon at 14.5 million guaranteed
have made more or less
than the Cavs J.R. Smith.
Oh, God, don't tell me.
J.R. Smith can't remember the score.
He better not make more than $14.5 million a year.
Didn't J.R. make about 11?
What's your guess?
I think J.R. Smith makes less than Lavian Bell.
Slightly.
J.R. Smith's cap hit for the season is $14.6 million.
Oh, my God.
I could not go to sleep at night if I was Dan Gilbert.
I mean.
14.6 cap hit on J.R. Smith.
Oh, maybe six years ago.
You know, the Denver years, you know, I get it.
That's a lot to pay for J.R. Smith.
It is something.
Wow.
All right.
Wood Levion had made more or less than Ariana Grande.
Ariana Grande.
She dates the Saturday Night Live guy.
She no longer does.
Yeah, she broke out with him.
She dumped him.
She's a very talented musician.
Beautiful.
I like a lot of her stuff.
Ariana Grande.
I got to tell you something.
I think she makes more than Levian Bell.
Well, you would be wrong.
Actually, yes, according to
According to Billboard,
Ariana Grande is projected to make $11.4 million.
That's it?
Boy, somebody's taking her to the cleaners.
Who's taking...
What record company's taking her
to the cleaners? Doesn't everybody...
She has a number one song right now.
If you have a number one song, you can't make more than a running back?
I mean, I don't know.
I don't know.
I thought like a number one song.
That's not my industry.
Does she make as much as Cardi B,
B? That act is getting old.
We will find, oh my goodness.
Cardi B is going to be done in about 15 minutes.
She's going to be working at the TikTok in.
A little 15 minutes. Last and long as, hmm.
Oh, millennials like Cardi B. My bad, she's terrific.
I love Cardi. All right. Finally, would Levyon have made more or less than Apple CEO, Tim
Cook? Oh, way less. That guy's swimming in apples. Let me tell you something.
Those guys make, like, do you count as stock?
You're not counting stock.
Just counting a salad.
Salary. We're not counting stock.
Okay.
Levy almost was going to make $14.5 million this year.
Tim Cook's very smart.
I think he has a very, very good come.
He's the Apple CEO of Apple.
You're not counting his stock options.
Not counting his stock.
I will say it's close, but Tim Cook makes more.
Tim Cook makes $12.8 million.
An NFL running back, this whole world's upside down.
So Levyon makes more than Ariana Grande and the Alvian.
Apple CEO.
I mean, stock kind of a big deal in Apple.
Yeah.
So.
I mean, it counts.
God.
We are only doing salaries because we're not including what Levian would have made in or what he makes in endorsements or whatever else also.
The Steelers GM, I would have sat Levian bell down and said, we're paying you more than the Apple CEO.
This research would have been useful to the Steelers.
See this phone, the guy who invented it?
We're paying you more than that.
All right.
He didn't Tim Cook invented.
I don't think Tim Cook invented the phone.
Did he invent apples?
I mean, what did he invent then?
No, he's just the CEO.
All right.
Which is a prestigious thing to me, but I don't think he invented the phone.
All right.
Finally, would Levion have made more or less than Elvis Presley?
He's dead.
Correct.
So is the state?
Yes.
Is that that thing still rolling in the cash?
It's Elvis Presley.
What's your guest?
Do you think that at 14.5 million, Leveon would have made more this year than Elvis Presley?
I don't even like this trick.
This is a trick question, so I'll say no,
because it sounds like Elvis Presley's estate makes a fortune.
It does.
It makes $35, I'm sorry, $35 million.
Elvis Presley's estate makes three times what Tim Cook and Apple does.
Salary-wise.
Tim Cook's album isn't very good.
Who's buying Elvis Presley albums?
I don't know if it's just albums.
Like, it's probably memorabilia and stuff.
What is Elvis Presley belt?
Like, what can you buy?
I don't know.
He's been dead since 1977.
He's been dead for 50 years.
Legends never die.
Well, they do.
Apparently their revenue streams don't.
That's incredible.
That's the most amazing thing.
Did I tell you I'm going to the Laker game tonight?
You mentioned earlier you're going to the Laker game.
I'm going to Laker game tonight.
Big J. journalism, I'll be labor intensive, doing a lot of groundwork.
It should be interesting.
I want to throw this out to you.
There's been this narrative that nobody wants to play with LeBron.
Did anybody see the tweet?
Oh, Tyson Chandler, newest Laker, revealed he was considering the Warriors and LeBron, and he chose LeBron.
I just want to say it again, these are the people who have chosen to work with LeBron.
A little shoe company called Nike, Warner Brothers founded in 1923, Magic Johnson, Pat Riley, D. Wade, Tyson, Tyson, Chandler, and Chris Bosch.
That's a pretty good group of guys to go into business with.
Warner Brothers, the swoosh, magic.
Here are the people that have refused to go into business with LeBron James.
Derek Rose, Paul George, nine years, best shot ever is in a Gatorade commercial.
Kyrie Irving, the world is flat.
Jimmy Butler, third team, three years into Marcus Cousins, who can't get along with anybody.
I'm telling you, this whole thing that LeBron, nobody wants to play with LeBron is a bunch of hooey.
coming up tomorrow. Greg Kossel, Greg Jennings, Chris Broussard, and I will go to the Laker game,
come back with a notebook of insider information, working the floor for three and a half hours.
It's the hurt.
