Starting point is 00:02:38 Wherever you may be and however you may be listening, live in Los Angeles, IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, right here on FS1. Joy Taylor is joining me, Catino Mobley, Jason Terry today stopping by. How are you, Joy? I'm great. Good morning. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:02:56 We all know you've got to have good players in all these sports to win, right? Culture, though, is where it all starts. Culture is where it all starts. Mike Shoshchevsky didn't have all these great players. But when he started at Duke, he changed the culture. Barry Alvarez didn't have a lot of great players at Wisconsin when he started. He changed the culture. He never lost a Rose Bowl.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Kevin Durant's not going to play tonight. And Las Vegas has the Warriors favored by eight. in the Western Conference finals against a very good Portland team. They're favored by eight tonight. I want you to think about this. This is how much better Golden State is, I'm not saying than just the NBA, than NBA playoff teams.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippen, in their six years they won a title in the dynasty. Scotty missed one game, Michael didn't miss any playoff game. we all acknowledge if Michael wouldn't have played in those six years, they wouldn't the same team. Wouldn't be the same team. Good, not the same team.
Starting point is 00:04:06 And we know that Scotty, let's be honest, Michael was 1 and 9 in the playoffs before Scotty. But with the Golden State Warriors, Steph has missed 12 playoff games. He's a superstar. In the five years of this dynasty, he's missed 12 playoff games. Golden State's 9 and 3. KD has missed 12. four games, they're four and O. So when one of their superstars has missed a playoff game, they're 13 and 3.
Starting point is 00:04:41 Shaq and Kobe, one of those guys missed a playoff game, Lakers were not the same team. Pippin and MJ, not the same team. I'm not even counting Andre Iguidala, who's missed seven playoff game. Sean Livingston has missed five. I'm not counting Boogie Cousins, who's their only legitimate center. This is why culture is such a big deal. It's why I don't buy into the Cleveland Browns as much as everybody else does. When you beat the Patriots, you're beating New England and the culture.
Starting point is 00:05:12 You're beating Alabama and the culture. Okay, when you're Cleveland's just players. They have a losing culture. They got their hands full already this morning with OBJ. Golden State. I want to add a layer to this. When Steve Kerr has missed a playoff game, they're 12 and 0. I want you to just think about that.
Starting point is 00:05:35 So when they've missed their coach, a Hall of Fame coach, Steve Kerr, KD, arguably best player in the game, and Steph Curry, most revolutionary player in the last five or six years, they're 25 and 3 in the playoffs. Milwaukee this year, 10 games without Janus, 4 and 6. Philadelphia couldn't score when Embed was off the floor against Toronto. The Houston Rockets think they're this close. They think they're this close to Houston.
Starting point is 00:06:10 James Hardin didn't play well in two fourth quarters. And they're out of the playoffs. He was still playing. He just didn't play well. Chris Paul last year missed a couple of games. what, want, want, season over. Houston this year didn't have to face at the end, KD. Boogie and Steph didn't score in one of the halves.
Starting point is 00:06:33 And because James Hardin didn't have a great, dynamic, robust fourth quarter, still there, could win. And you think Houston's close? Houston doesn't have the culture. This team is, and this is why I don't fall in love with guys and the Cleveland Browns and every, Every single time you grab a player and the Raiders got all these guys, and the Raiders have a losing culture.
Starting point is 00:07:00 The Browns have a losing culture. The Pittsburgh Steelers have a winning culture. They'll be fine. New England loses Grong. They have a winning culture. They'll be fine. Just think about the gap. The gap between the Warriors and Houston.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Curry, Durant, and DeMarcus cousins. I mean, missing stars, stars hurt, head coach out, 25 and 3. There's never been a basketball dynasty, including MJ and Scotty, that could withstand that. Let me shift to this. Well, well, well, well, well, I said yesterday to start the show, if I represented Zion Williamson, if I was Zion Williamson, if I was Nike with Zion Williamson, I try to broker a trade somewhere or sit the year out. I've seen Zion Williamson in New Orleans. It's called Anthony Davis. In fact, Nike is so upset that he now wants to play for the Pelicans.
Starting point is 00:08:06 They've changed their slogan to just don't do it. But here's the reality. Zion's a good kid. Zion probably doesn't want to make waves. Zion's got the smile, the magnetism. I hope it works out. and his stepfather, Lee Anderson, says they're very excited to be Pelicans. We're excited about that.
Starting point is 00:08:32 This is one of the things that he had nothing to do with is the process of the NBA. And certainly we're excited about the Crescent City down there in New Orleans. And you said about returning to Duke, you know, there's been a lot of speculation. But that is not nothing that we have even considered. Okay. All right. This, by the way, is the predicted result. I said yesterday, and I have a right to do this as a talk show host.
Starting point is 00:08:55 This is my opinion. I wouldn't. And I've also said, I've seen this before. It's called Anthony Davis. And I think Zion's going to be a great player, but Anthony Davis has averaged 25 and 12 down in New Orleans. I don't think Zion's going to average a ton more than those numbers, although I do think he has more magnetism and more upside than Anthony Davis.
Starting point is 00:09:13 And Anthony Davis is very good. But everybody says the big difference this time, though, is it's different. David Griffin. GM. This time we got a good GM. Well, he is the luckiest GM in the world. He's been in five lotteries. He's won four. So I'll give David Griffin that. He's the world's luckiest general manager. And I do like him and I do think he's smart. But folks, Sam Presti's smart.
Starting point is 00:09:39 How did that whole Harden KD Westbrook thing work? There's realities about Oklahoma City. Messiah Eugheri in Toronto is smart. Nobody doubts that. If they lose to Milwaukee, and I think they will. And if Kauai leaves, and I think he will, they're rebuilding. There's realities about Canadian NBA teams. We had one briefly at left. We have the other one, Stars leave.
Starting point is 00:10:04 There's a reality to college football. Most of your good top 10 programs are now in the South. Why? Because that's where all the players are. It's much harder to accumulate great talent in cold weather cities. That's the reality, regardless of your coach. Okay, you could see at the end. Urban Meyer, his team could not keep up with some of those Southern powers.
Starting point is 00:10:26 And he's a great coach. So I do think, since Zion wants to go to the Pelicans, here to me is the best case scenario. And I do think David Griffin is smarter than the average cat. I do. Is that you make a trade with the Knicks. I don't buy the Lakers. And here's why.
Starting point is 00:10:45 I think if you have Zion and you make a trade with the Knicks who won Anthony Davis, and you can get R.J. Barrett at Duke, and all those first-round picks the Knicks have, four or five really good first-round picks, that at least feels optimistic and hopeful. I get his best friend at Duke. I get a kid that can take a little pressure off him, another great rookie player. Duke is the biggest college basketball brand. It's also kind of Southern into the Pelicans.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Zion, two dukies, draft picks. That feels big and interesting to me. What doesn't feel fascinating to me is making a deal with the Lakers and getting Kyle Kuzma, who has a fairly low ceiling, we've seen it. Lonzo Ball can't stay healthy, dad issues, and the number four pick in the draft, who I asked multiple GMs yesterday or executives in the league, who would be your fourth pick? I got nine different answers.
Starting point is 00:11:49 That's not even a player. It's a silhouette. But if you make a deal with the Knicks and I get Zion and R.J. Barrett, and they're both, by the way, ready to score in the NBA. That can't be disputed. This is a three-guy draft. After that, there'll be five or six good players, but nobody knows who they are. It's like Clay Thompson wouldn't have gone 11 if everybody was a genius.
Starting point is 00:12:13 That then feels to me like, okay, you have these really good teams in the West, Golden State, old, Houston really old, you know, Oklahoma City, Westbrook, another surgery, Paul Georgia surgery, getting old. And then you got three young teams. Denver's good and young. Can't deny that. And New Orleans? Oh, that's kind of exciting. New Orleans is young. Dallas Mavericks are young. And then you can become part of three really exciting young Western teams. Denver, Dallas, and the Pelicans. That feels like. to me, all right, I can buy into that. Picks, another Duky, but I'll tell you, from a Laker perspective, if I live in New Orleans or I'm an NBA fan, if you think I'm getting jacked up
Starting point is 00:13:02 for the number four pick in your, what is by any stretch, an okay draft, very good for three picks, and then a crapshoot, Kyle Kuzma and Laker young players that can't stay healthy, that is not good for Zion. It's not good for the NBA. It's not good for the Pelicans. And he's signing one deal. Because remember, he's going to make $9, $10 million a year on Nike. He's going to make money in a shoe deal that nobody's ever made.
Starting point is 00:13:30 He's going to make a ton. So he doesn't need to sign a second contract in New Orleans. That's why guys generally sign a second contract like Anthony Davis. They want to get their money. But if you're making $10 million plus on a shoe deal with Nike, you don't need to stay for a second contract like Anthony Davis. who, by the way, a year before his second contract was done, he wants out. Dwight Howard, you know, a year before the second contract's done, he wants out.
Starting point is 00:13:55 Shaq wants out. But when you, because this kid's going to make so much money on shoes, he's not going to need to sign a second deal. But you give him a dokey, you give me another star, take a little of the pressure off, bunch of draft picks. That feels big. It feels optimistic. There's a lot of mystery.
Starting point is 00:14:11 There's no mystery to Kyle Kuzma. There's no mystery to Lonzo Ball. I mean, I know what they are. Lonzo Ball is inconsistent and can't stay healthy. And Kyle Kuzma is like a fourth starter, you know, on a good team, about the fourth best starter. Then it feels bigger to me. Some of the league getting old, three new young teams out west. But you can't tell me David Griffin, he's just really smart.
Starting point is 00:14:38 I don't doubt that. So is Sam Presti. So is the guy in Toronto. There's a lot of smart football coaches. North. David Shaw, Chris Peterson, North. Jim Harbaugh is a real smart guy. Yeah, a lot of guys. A lot of guys are good coaches in North, but college football is a reality. There's way more players in Georgia, Florida, Texas, Los Angeles, Mississippi, Louisiana.
Starting point is 00:15:03 That's the reality of college football. That's why the southern teams are better. Sometimes the coaching's bad in the SEC. They've got so many darn NFL bodies. So there is a reality to the rafters. There's a reality to Memphis. There's a reality to the Pelicans that even a good GM is going to face. To me, a deal with the Knicks, though, does make it feel fun and optimistic and big and two dukies and draft picks that I could buy into.
Starting point is 00:15:30 All right. There we go. The Raptors lost last night didn't just feel like a loss. And I'll tell you why I think that. And also, Freddie Kitchens already answering questions. on OBJ. They're already having to hold press conferences for a kid that in 65 days since the trade to the Browns has been in Cleveland three days. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Both of those coming up next. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeard Radio app. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across.
Starting point is 00:16:42 When Jacob met Levant this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game.

Starting point is 00:18:10 On Hurtle with Emily Abadi, we sit down with the most inspiring women in sports and wellness, professional athletes, coaches, and Olympic champions to talk about the challenges that shaped them and the mindset that keeps them going. From the WNBA standout Kate Martin and rising hockey star Layla Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain. It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel on.
Starting point is 00:18:36 Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ledecki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light. up and smile. That means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals. At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can, like, I can do anything. Because resilience isn't just about winning. It's about showing up, even when it's hard. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports.
Starting point is 00:19:14 my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing, and we're still chasing it, and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. great to have you in it is a Thursday uh raptors dominate most of the game and then lose run out of gas in the end it's not just that they lost it's how they lost uh they missed their last eight shots they were worn out koai leonard was a shot fighter by the fourth quarter never hit a basket only scored two points for the player i'm being told the best player in the world i think he's really really good and i'm not blaming him he's out of gas he shot 39 times against Philadelphia in game seven.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Okay, the Raptors have been very solid for a long time. Six straight years they made the playoffs. They won a playoff series in four of those years. But man, does this feel like a one and done? And if Kauai Leonard leaves, the East improving, they are now a rebuilding franchise. I honestly think we've seen the last of the Raptors after this series, because I think Milwaukee's just better.
Starting point is 00:21:11 And last night wasn't about losing. It's how they lost. Coi Leonard had nothing left in the tank. This is Carmelo Anthony at Syracuse. This is one unbelievable talent surrounded by guys. And that won a championship, and this one doesn't feel like it has to, or can. But if you watch that game last night, and Kyle Lowry, that's as good as he can play, don't kid yourself about the reality here.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Toronto does not get free agents. Toronto's now too good for the next couple of years to get a great, great draft pick. And Kyle Lowry, $34 million a year, that is a prohibitive contract that can hurt you going forward. This does feel, I think it was Charles Barkley said, they lose this series to Philadelphia. It's the end of basketball in Canada. That seems hyperbolic and it seems drastic. But we've had Vince Carter and T-Mack. And if Kauai Leonard leaves, and I'm told Kauai Leonard,
Starting point is 00:22:11 goes apartment to the facility, facility to the apartment, apartment to the arena to the apartment. He's made no bones about it. He's a California kid. He likes a warm weather. When I'm watching them last night and you can just see Kauai's got nothing left, this is not a shot at him. You're asking him to take every big shot, 39 shots against Philly, every big shot in that game. He had nothing left.
Starting point is 00:22:36 And Milwaukee's got a better bench. Milwaukee's deeper. And as big as Yonis is, Chris Miner. on certain possessions and nights is every bit as big. So there are ways you lose. And the way they limped at the end last night, this has a one and done. I know that's a term we use in college basketball.
Starting point is 00:22:58 It's really got a mellow Syracuse one and done feel to it. It does. Joy with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. So let's stick with that game. After leading for most of the game, the Raptors had a chance to grab a 100-0-series lead and steal home court advantage and said they dropped the opener 108 to 100. And here is Kyle Lowry's reasoning.
Starting point is 00:23:21 Pretty frustrating. You know what I mean? Fourth quarter killed us, 32, 17. I mean, they outplayed in that fourth quarter. They got a little bit more aggressive. They made some big shots, made some big plays. Yeah, we just, it sucks when you lose like that. But, you know, we, we had to be.
Starting point is 00:23:40 a chance and we got to learn from it, make an adjustment. You know, stay even killed. Never. You're not too high, not too low. Just look at it for them and get better. They've got to keep a positive attitude about that loss because I'm with you. There's ways you lose and it felt like that was an emotionally draining loss. You can't ask for anything more from Kyle Lowry. First two hours, Toronto totally outplayed Milwaukee for two hours and 15 minutes. The entire game down to three minutes and 30 seconds left.
Starting point is 00:24:10 They had they the bucks trailed one hundred to ninety eight with a little over three minutes left and in that three minutes and thirty seconds the raptors had no points With o four eights from the field goal range three point range over five Miss a free throw and the bucks took over the game like that's just that's the story of the game is the last three minutes It's not how you start how you finish and it felt like that was the game We had to come out and shocked the bucks and They said it on the broadcasts I would have preferred they got blown out because at least it It's like, all right, bucks are good at home. The best regular season.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Throw the tape out. It's okay. It's fine. It's game one in the series. But this felt like you had an opportunity to steal it. You can't ask for more. Siakam had 15 points. I mean, that's as good as Kyle Lowry's played in the playoffs in years.
Starting point is 00:24:56 You can't ask for more. So I hope that they remain positive and it still ends up being a long series. But it felt like that was a telling game one. And hopefully I'm wrong. Because I do like the Raptors, but again, I don't know how much more you can ask from everyone. So Leveon Bell's responded to a report that head coach and now interim GM, Adam Gase, did not
Starting point is 00:25:16 want the Jets to sign Leveon. He tweeted there's been a bunch of false reports and speculation about me in the past about things I've said and done so I'm used to this. I don't jump to conclusions when I see hear or see a story that may affect me. Even if reports are true, that won't stop me from doing what I came here to do. Everyone has a job to do
Starting point is 00:25:31 and I'm going to do mine whether people like me or not. I'm here to win football games. I love that response, by the way. He was very urgent. Bottom line cut through it. I thought that was a really good Twitter response. Yeah, I mean, I don't have a problem with the response. It's more of the fact that, you know, it seems like he still doesn't have an answer about whether that's true or not. And I feel like as you're as the head coach, you probably need to clear that up with Levion. And now an
Starting point is 00:25:57 anonymous NFC front office executive told Mike Freeman of Leisure report about the Jets. They remain a laughing stock, two steps forward, one step back franchise. Well, let me just say this. Adam Gase reportedly said, I liked Lavian. I didn't like him at the number. I don't think you pay running backs that number. So, and let me defend Lavian Bell here. I'll defend the Jets on this. The Steelers didn't need Lavian Bell.
Starting point is 00:26:25 They have a Hall to Fame quarterback, best offensive line in football, two-star receivers, and momentum in the franchise. Sam Darnold had, according to pro football focus, one of the three worst receiving cores, running back groups, and no line. you had to get him something. You have to give Dak Zeke.
Starting point is 00:26:43 You have to give Goff Gurley. When you have a young quarterback and a quarterback rookie deal, I have no problem getting a star in the backfield. Now, I do think in three years, Sam Darnold is not going to need Labian Bell like he does now. But this idea that Adam Gase hated Lavia,
Starting point is 00:27:01 no, he didn't like the number, but Gase knew we have no running backs. I mean, they have the worst running back before Lavia. No, you had to do it. And for that matter, all those guys that you just mentioned, look at the success that they've had because they have a start. Look what happened without Gurley in the Super Bowl. You need that with a young guy.
Starting point is 00:27:17 There's not Tom Brady who can make it work with anything that's out there. It was necessary for Levion to go there. And for all this talk about Levion being dysfunctional, it's going to have a Kauai Leonard effect. Like, we haven't seen Levion in a while, so everyone forgot how good Levion is. He's going to come back and be incredible for them. I don't know that they've taken a major step in their franchise,
Starting point is 00:27:41 but I mean, this is the year to show it. Adam Gase doesn't have to prove that he is a good head coach, because Miami was not successful. He has all the talent that he needs. We'll see what happens. All right. Finally, Freddie Kitchens has already had to defend O'Donbeckham Jr. For his lack of participation, including skipping the extra mini camp last month.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Kitchens acknowledged that he ideally would love 100% participation. And after Adele participated on the first, first day of OTAs on Tuesday. He was gone yesterday and Kitchens didn't appear to be defending him as much as he did last month. I've never disputed the fact that it's not important for him to be here, but it's also important for him to be mentally ready to be here. All right? So I'm not giving him an out by any stretch of imagination. Nobody here knows the conversations that Odell and I have. So I'm just saying it's better for him to be here when he can present his best self. emotionally, physically, everything.
Starting point is 00:28:42 Okay, so the trade was 65 days ago. He hasn't come to terms with it yet. Like, why isn't he mentally ready to go? It's been 65 days. I mean... Joy, you were on a show before us. An hour later, you were on this show. You were ready to go the first day.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Well, I mean, you got to... Things change. Life is about change. Life is constant change and constant movement. Am I being a hater here, 65 days? I think that it's... It's initially not being ready to absorb a change of this magnitude is understandable. I'm also okay with him not being at non-mandatory training camps.
Starting point is 00:29:21 Like it's okay that he trains on his own. I don't have a problem with that because a lot of guys do that, especially veterans. But there is an element too. You're on a new team. There's a lot of young pieces. You want to start getting that chemistry going. The mentally emotionally part is kind of strange. Listen to this.
Starting point is 00:29:37 I read this story. Kitchens defended Beckham's part-time participation, but said, absent from the first six weeks of the voluntary program, he doesn't know the offense, the terminology, teammates or coaches. I'd like to see him a receiver who depends on a quarterback. A running back, here's the ball, find the hole. Like a receiver is timing. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones get better over time. He's been in Cleveland three days since the trade. A pressure and two for this.
Starting point is 00:30:10 That's it. Am I crazy? I'm really trying to defend him in this spot. I'm trying to find an angle with it, but it does seem like you would want to be working on that chemistry. I don't think that he's going to come in to camp out of shape. I do think he is excellent at keeping his body right, and he's going to take care of all that.
Starting point is 00:30:31 But, yeah, there's another human-to-human element that needs to be worked on. Brady and the offseason will invite Edelman to Costa Rica with them. And they've played together for years to keep their timing fluid. It's weird. Lord. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news.
Starting point is 00:30:51 And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd Lie News. Chris Brousard is in New York City. Of course he is because that's where Anthony Davis is going to end up. via the Coward Global Satellite Network. Chris, listen, if I was Zion and Nike, I'd like to see him in New York or a bigger market. I get it. It is what it is.
Starting point is 00:31:13 David Griffin is a smart, capable GM and the world's luckiest GM. He's been in five lotteries. He's won four. But let me just throw this at you. If I'm Griffin, I think a bunch of draft picks in R.J. Barrett feels big, optimistic. I can bring in another rookie to take some of the pressure off Zion. The Lakers given me the fourth pick, always hurt Lonzo, always hurt Brandon Ingram. I'm sorry, Chris.
Starting point is 00:31:42 That doesn't feel as optimistic and as assured is R.J. Barrett and Zion. This whole thing to me feels like the Knicks is now the trading partland for Anthony Davis. Does it not? Well, what it comes down to, Colin, is how does New Orleans feel about this draft from four down? We all know, and I've heard you talk about the scouts that you've talked to and executives around the league, most do view it as a three-player draft. Now, there are some that like Cam Reddish as much as R.J. Barrett or maybe a little bit more. If New Orleans is one of those groups that likes Reddish as much as Barrett or somebody else at four as much as Barrett, then they might deal with the Lakers in that situation. But if they view it as a three-player draft like most do,
Starting point is 00:32:32 then the Knicks are certainly a team you may want to deal with. Because, number one, the Knicks are one of two teams that I know Anthony Davis would stay with long term. New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers. Number two, what better storyline? We know this league is about, in addition to great teams and talent, storylines. You got R.J. Barrett and Zion Williamson, the great roommates,
Starting point is 00:32:55 the great friends, from Duke. This would be like if you had brought Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Elijah Wan together right away in the NBA. Yes. And so I agree with you. And look, a Mitchell Robinson. I know a lot of people don't know him. Very athletic, shot blocker, basically a seven footer. He's a guy, if I'm New Orleans, I want thrown into that deal. He's a nice little rookie that could be a good role player in this league. Yeah. So you. And one more thing. Yeah. One more thing on. this. They may go out and get a third team involved. And that way, New Orleans could get another, maybe a veteran who's solid in addition to an R.J. Barrett, Mitchell Robinson and some other pieces.
Starting point is 00:33:40 By the way, there are stories yesterday. I was told two days ago that the Pelicans, Gail Benson, would prefer to get Anthony Davis out of the West and would prefer not to do a deal with the Lakers. There's one report today. They won't do a deal with the Lakers. What do you make a that report? Well, first of all, that standard operating procedure, no team wants to send a player into their own conference, a great player that they're going to have to face. And then, of course, just the animosity. And I get it.
Starting point is 00:34:11 If I'm New Orleans, the last team I want to deal with are the Lakers because you're trying to get our best player. And really, you almost ruined our franchise, if not for winning that draft lottery. However, it would be foolish to completely, absolutely refuse. to deal with the Lakers. You can say they're a last resort. But you have to keep them at the table because, number one, they're leverage. Even if you don't want to deal with them, they're leverage against other teams.
Starting point is 00:34:40 If I threaten Danny Age or New York and say, look, I will do this Lakers deal. Or if they at least think I'll do the Lakers deal, I can get more out of them. And then finally, at the end of the day, Colin, as a GM, I have to do what, is best for my basketball team. If somehow the Lakers came up with a deal, say a three-team deal, where I just got, it was so much better than the other offers that I was going to get elsewhere, and I know it's going to make the Lakers great,
Starting point is 00:35:13 but it's also going to be great for me. I would do that. But yes, the Lakers are our last resort. If it's anything close, they're sending him to the East instead of L.A., but they need to keep them at the table for leverage. By the way, I was saying this earlier. I don't think we realize how much better the warriors are than the rest of the league.
Starting point is 00:35:35 Steve Kerr has missed 12 playoff games. They're 12 and 0. KD's missed four playoff games in this dynasty in Golden State. They're 4 and 0. And they're 12 and 3 when Steph misses. As good as the Bulls were with MJ and Pippen, if Scotty missed a game, it wasn't the same team. If Phil or Pippin missed the game, it wasn't the same team. What do we compare this dynasty to?
Starting point is 00:35:56 Because, Chris, they're an eight-point favorite tonight without Boogie Cousins and without KD. What do you make of that? Well, it's about culture. I said it in the first year of this quote-unquote dynasty, 2014, 15, when the warrior shocked everybody and won the championship. Steph Curry, while a completely different personality, he is the Tim Duncan of Golden State. Duncan went in there, set a culture, it was professional, it was, you know, follow the leader and Greg Popovich, do what the coach says, you know, and that everybody else had to buy in because he was the best player. Steph has done that in Golden State. It's fun, it's selfless, you know, him bringing along Durant, letting Durant become the best player and not having an issue with it. That's selfless. That's what this team's culture is. And everybody respects Steph because of his character.
Starting point is 00:36:52 And so he set a great culture. And look at San Antonio. They have had over the years players go in there who couldn't do anything elsewhere. A Matt Bonner is productive. You know, a Gary Neal is great in the finals for them. They go elsewhere. They disappear. Golden State is the same way.
Starting point is 00:37:10 Remember we talked last week. Is this team, can they be as good as they were before Durant? Well, they don't have the bench they used to have. No, the bench back then wasn't that great individually. Leandro Barbosa was old. Festus Azeli, Brandon Rush, they left Golden State didn't do anything. Even most spates didn't do anything elsewhere. Now you've got plugging these guys to the culture.
Starting point is 00:37:34 And all of a sudden, Quinn Cook looks really good. Jonas Jerobko looks better than he ever did in Detroit. Kevin Looney, Damien Jones, they're productive. It's about the culture. It's a great credit to Steph number one. And also Steve Kerr and the rest of the play. and guys in that organization. By the way, I don't know who dressed in you,
Starting point is 00:37:55 but boy, you look tight today. You look like a CEO of a big company today, Chris Broussard. I got a minute left. Kauai Leonard looked shot last night. They asked him to take 39 shots in game seven against Philly. He was at a gas last night. This does have a mellow Syracuse, one and done, unbelievable talent surrounded by guys.
Starting point is 00:38:14 What do you give the Raptors chances of retaining him in a minute? Well, that's a great point because a lot of people are having pointed to you're exactly right. He was fatigued. He's never used to playing 40 minutes. You know, he's playing 40 minutes a night. You know in San Antonio, they rest you. He played 34 minutes a game there.
Starting point is 00:38:33 You know, so he's fatigued. But as far as your question, I still think one of the L.A. teams, mainly the Clippers, are the frontrunner. I would go Toronto number two. I think there's a clippers are a pretty good favorite. But I'm not going to rule out Toronto. One year to recruit a guy, Colin, is a lot. And that that bonding experience that those fans, that city, those teammates, heck, the nation had with Kauai after that game seven should not be understated. You know, he's having a great experience with these teammates.
Starting point is 00:39:10 So that could be a factor. And also this, Colin, when he left San Antonio, he could have gotten a five-year, $220 million deal. When now he's in Toronto, the max he can get five years 190 million. If he leaves elsewhere, he can only get four years 141 or something around there. So you're talking about already giving up 30 million. Now giving up another 50 million. I'm just saying if it's close, if he's like, yeah, I want to go to L.A., but I really do like it here.
Starting point is 00:39:46 We got a team. I'm in the east. We could get to the finals. We could maybe win it. those money numbers could become a factor. I still think the clippers are the favorite, but the money is something that shouldn't be discounted. Chris Broussard, looking tight today in New York City.
Starting point is 00:40:02 That's a power lunch jacket tight. East Coast, baby. No question. Everybody's a little tighter on the East Coast. We're wearing flip-flops out here. Good seeing you, Chris. All right, coming up next, the jets are getting heat for firing their general manager
Starting point is 00:40:20 you know, after the draft, I'll support him. And more on, is OBJ gone from Circus Catch to Just Circus? That's coming up, The Herd. From the WNBA standout, Kate Martin, and rising hockey star, Leila Edwards. If a boy can do it, I don't see why a girl can't. Like, I've never understood that. Like, it didn't make sense in my brain.
Starting point is 00:42:51 It's hard to be in spaces that no one looks like you, but don't ever feel like you don't feel on. Don't let that be the reason you don't do it. An Olympic champs Gabby Thomas and Katie Ladeki. The ability to show a gold medal to someone and have their face light up and smile, that means the world to me. And that's what motivates me to win more gold medals.
Starting point is 00:43:11 At our level, at this scale, like being able to fail in front of the entire world. Like, I can do anything. I can do anything. because resilience isn't just about winning. Starting point is 00:44:46 So yesterday, the GM of the Jets got fired, and a lot of people are saying, I can't believe they fired him after the draft. My theory on when you fire people, when you finally discover they're not the right people, then you get them out. Sometimes, you know, there's contracts to deal with. Other people aren't open. You know, you may want to fire somebody, but somebody else isn't available for three months. When you fire somebody, at the last 7-8 GMs fired, they've been fired in a bunch of
Starting point is 00:45:15 different months. This is also a 365 day a year league. Okay, like there is no perfect day. You could say the perfect day is in the summer, but I could argue a GM's job starts Labor Day with all the college football. So you can't fire a guy in August because then I have to get an entirely different staff and all the best guys have already been hired by Labor Day. There is no perfect time to fire a GM. Before the draft, is that smart? Well, who's going to run your draft? If you had a fired up a month before the draft. And you fire all the scouts. Well, who in the hell's in the draft room?
Starting point is 00:45:47 I mean, so they basically knew, once they hired Adam Gase, these guys weren't going to work, but they just wanted to get through the draft. This was an incompetent general manager who drafted a quarterback Christian Hakenberg, who I said at the time had no chance to ever even be a backup in this league. When I can figure this out over a GM, you're not good at your job. They have whiffed. They have whiffed on draft after draft, even the guys they've hit on. Leonard Williams, Jamal Adams, Sam Darnold, Quinnon Williams were obvious picks that anybody
Starting point is 00:46:17 could have made. Quinnon Williams was the best player in the draft. Everybody knew it. Just the two teams in top of the jets. Arizona needed a quarterback and the Niners needed a pass rusher worse than Quinn and Williams. That's not a big pay. Anybody can make that pick. You'd make it. I'd make it. Anybody would make it. The reason you had to make this move fast, though, is because of Sam Darnold. It's the reason, it's the reason last year the Cleveland Browns got rid of Hugh Jackson and Todd Haley because of Baker Mayfield. When you find what you believe is a young star for the next decade, you are on the clock, baby. You don't have any time to waste.
Starting point is 00:46:51 So they got Todd Bowles out immediately, and let's get an offensive guy, and they did that because Adam Gase was going to get a job somewhere else, so let's get him quickly. Offensive coach. That's why Freddie Kitchens got the job. He was in-house. He's an offensive coach. You got to get these quarterbacks, offensive guys. Matt Nagy and Mitch Trubesky saved his career.
Starting point is 00:47:09 reality. You've got to get these young quarterbacks offensive coaches. Sean McVeigh saved Jared Goff's career. Okay. The other thing is Gase gets a lot of heat here. Adam Gase had a winning record when Ryan Tannihill was his quarterback. And then he got hurt. And he had Jay Cutler, Matt Moore, and Brock Osweiler. By the way, he was 13 and 11 with Tannehill. Seven of the 11 losses were one possession. Coaches get fired all. All the time. Pete Carroll's been fired twice. Andy Reid's been fired.
Starting point is 00:47:43 Bill Belichick's been fired. Mike Shanahan's been fired. Who cares? It's the NFL. It's like being a DJ. Howard Stern's been fired twice. Every DJ has been fired. There are certain industries.
Starting point is 00:47:55 You get fired. You don't get fired as a school teacher unless you're inappropriate. You get fired as a head coach if you're great. But you just don't have the quarterback. So, by the way, why aren't we crushing Kyle Shanahan? The media is not doing their homework on this. why are we not crushing Kyle Shanahan and San Francisco right now? He has a losing record.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Because he didn't have Jimmy Caroplo. You can't win in this league without a quarterback. Pete Carroll had a losing record in Seattle before Russell Wilson. Belichick fired in Cleveland. Had a losing record in New England. And then Bledsoe got hurt. Brady comes in. You can't win in this league with a bad quarterback or an old quarterback or an injured quarterback.
Starting point is 00:48:33 Adam Gase is good. Winning record. Beat the Patriots twice. 13 and 11, 7 losses, one possession. That's with a dysfunctional owner. So you got to get bad people out of a building, but the timing is overrated. I've been in this business 20 years, 30 years, right? There have been people I know that are getting whacked at my old place.
Starting point is 00:48:56 You'd know it, but you got to wait for the contract, who you're going to replace them with. There's a lot of things to think about here. And, you know, ideally, you'd like to, I'm told the ideal situation is fire the GM in December. Everybody's, ah, that's a fire. Okay. But maybe the guy they had to replace the guy they fired wasn't available in December. So you wouldn't want to fire a GM in December and just flowed out there as you're looking for a new coach, Adam Gase, who was going to get more than one offer. And Adam Gase is like, I'm not going to the judge.
Starting point is 00:49:33 you don't even have. So they wanted to bring Gace in. Hey, we've got a GM. You publicly support the GM. You get through the draft and then out. But this franchise is Darnold and Gase. That's what it is. And for the record, that's what it should be.
Starting point is 00:49:47 That's who should be running this franchise. Adam Gase and Sam Darnold, that's the franchise. The great young offensive quarterback with nothing to work with, thanks to the last guy that you just fired. And Adam Gase, who had a winning record in this league. But you got to get over this hole. Well, Adam Gase, it. Why aren't you crushing Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco?
Starting point is 00:50:05 He's got a terrible record. But he's got a good record when Jimmy Garoppolo's healthy. So, you know, when you fire people is, NFL's a 365-day proposition. It just is. And by the way, the reality is this general manager, I like their moves in free agency. They overspent for people, but, you know, I get it. It's just in order for this franchise going forward, they're going to have to pay Sam Darnold big money in a couple years.
Starting point is 00:50:42 They have got to nail the next two drafts. And this guy was bad with drafts. So the next two drafts, the Jets have to nail it. Because in three years, they are bringing the Brinks truck for Sam Darnold. And by the way, they're doing the same thing for Baker Mayfield in two to three years. So these drafts for these teams like Cleveland and the, The Jets are really, really important. The Browns are doing their part.
Starting point is 00:51:04 The Jets have been a mess. Now they got to get rid of the guy. Hour 2 next. One more herd? Starting point is 00:55:21 Hour 2, this is The Herd, wherever you may be, and however you may be listening. We are live in wet and rainy Los Angeles, driving in today, I'm not sure what it's like now. IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1. pouring when I drove in today. Joy, was it for you?
Starting point is 00:55:35 We're so spoiled. I swear I woke up this morning and opened the garage and saw the rain like, oh, rain. Again. It's wrong. Especially rain twice all year. We have been getting an abnormal around of rain for California, though. It's been a wet, damp, cold winter in Los Angeles. I'm from Seattle, so I have no...
Starting point is 00:55:55 I got no problem with it. I'm from the Pacific Northwest. I got no problem with all this wet stuff. I want to start with this story. You know, again, Colin. you're a hater on Russell Westbrook. Three years later, you all now acknowledge, I wasn't a hater, I was right on Westbrook. Right? You get that. By the way, Nick Foles, you're a hater.
Starting point is 00:56:13 No, Howie Rosebin, one of the best GMs trades him to Jacksonville. I was right. Wentz is better than Foles. Stop with a hater. Hater aid stuff. It's nonsense. It's what like 12-year-old say on Twitter. When I'm tough on somebody, they deserve it. I was tough on Mello. I was right on Mellow. I was right on Westbrook.
Starting point is 00:56:30 I was right on Nick Foles. The Cleveland Browns, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yeah. Okay. This story's real. Mary K. Cab at Cleveland.com. She's an excellent NFL writer. I've had her on many different shows. Her article today, Odell Beckham Jr. was here and gone in a flash.
Starting point is 00:56:52 Practicing on the first day of OTA's Tuesday and gone by the second. Freddie Kitchens acknowledged he's still getting his mind right. after the trade. No, no, no, I'm not ready for that yet. Kitchens, I'm reading this article, who defended Beckham's part-time participation in the program from the start, admitted he doesn't know the team's offense,
Starting point is 00:57:17 terminology, teammates, or coaches. Quote, it's not that easy. It's Mary Kay Cabot. She's not a hater. Freddie Kitchens, you can listen to all this. This is what a parent sounds like when they're disappointed with their kid. I still love them, but here's now Freddie Kitchens on OBJ being in Cleveland three days since the trade.
Starting point is 00:57:43 I've never disputed the fact that it's not important for him to be here, but it's also important for him to be mentally ready to be here. So I'm not giving him an out by any stretch of imagination. Nobody here knows the conversations that O'Dell and I have. So I'm just saying it's better for him to. to be here when he can present his best self. Emotionally, physically, everything. This is what wore the New York Giants out. 65 days from the trade.
Starting point is 00:58:17 He got to get his mind right? I mean, come on now. Am I being a hater? I'm being honest here. And I like OBJ. But the injuries, the net, the boat, most of his career now is the catch and a bunch of nonsense. And Cleveland Brown fans, because they're fans and fans short for Fanatic, are giving you the classic, it's all good here.
Starting point is 00:58:39 Just drive on by, nothing happening here. This is everything is perfect here. No, it's not. No, no, it's not. That's a coach sounding like a disappointed parent. Wide receivers and quarterbacks, it is all timing. This is not a corner. If Denzel Ward didn't show up, Denzel Ward can go out and cover people.
Starting point is 00:59:00 if Nick Chubb didn't show up. Nick Chub, here's ball, hit gap. Quarterback and receiver is a timing issue. That's why Tom Brady is literally vacationing with his wide receivers. That's why wide receivers and quarterback's vacation together. Off season, they fly them out to L.A. or good weather if they live in cold weather to work out together. Okay. And would some people, well, Gronk and Brady, they missed.
Starting point is 00:59:28 I trust Gronk. I trust Brady. I trust Belichick. I trust New England. Cleveland hasn't earned that trust. I don't trust Freddie Kitchens. I don't trust OBJ. I don't trust Cleveland.
Starting point is 00:59:38 They have not earned that. Don't give me gronk and other veterans that missed time. The New England Patriots wrote the book on football in America. It's a hardcover. It's a bestseller. They wrote the book on how to win Super Bowls. Cleveland is just a flashy brochure full of chatter and tether and Hey, we got a bunch of guys here and a tiger next to a Bentley and a quarterback with a shirt off a boat.
Starting point is 01:00:07 That's just, you're selling timeshares to me. Okay, one of them wrote a book on how to do it. One of them's a flashy brochure. And so when I question this OBJ thing, don't tell me, don't give me your classic bad franchise saying it's all good here. Freddie Kitchens is telling you, teammates, routes, timing. And this is a young quarterback Baker. This is not a 12-year-in-the-league guy. So I got a young quarterback, a diva receiver.
Starting point is 01:00:36 He's not there. Three days in Cleveland, basically, since he signed, and his mind's not right. This is what drove the New York Giants crazy. And I'm not saying everybody's, you know, Russell Wilson and Kumbaya, they walk into the league and they're a complete grown-up. I'm not saying that.
Starting point is 01:00:56 I'm not saying everybody's Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson. I'm not saying everybody's Julio Jones and Larry Fitzgerald. They're like the model on how to be an NFL player. But you can't deny it. Objay and I like him, he's a lot of work. A lot of stuff. And this is not a book. This is now a flashy brochure.
Starting point is 01:01:15 And I don't, I don't buy any of it right now. This is just, you're selling me a timeshare right now. That's a pretty flashy brochure. I think that's a Rolls-Royce too. And not a Bentley. I've never driven either. Well, me either, but I don't, I mean, O'Dell has, is in a very interesting position because he's going to play the card of chip on the shoulder guy this year. But the way that this is situation is starting off, it seems as if he's still kind of separate from the team.
Starting point is 01:01:48 It has a little bit of a LeBron Lakers feel. Like it's me and then the guys, even though Baker is saying that he has a relationship with him. obviously Jarvis Landry has a relationship with them. Nike feels like they have a relationship. So to me, this is the year that the Browns have the opportunity to create an actual culture, right? And you think of the Browns, you think of habitual losing. This is the year where they have the new coach, they have the quarterback of the future, they have the talent around, establish what your culture is.
Starting point is 01:02:17 So in some ways, this is kind of on Freddie Kitchens. Odell has to play there this year. Why not call them out? Why not be aggressive? you and I both had one question about this roster, Freddie Kitchens. We both said this would be a hard team to coach for Sean Peyton. Right. For Tony Dungey.
Starting point is 01:02:37 It's hard to manage egos. For Pete Carroll. For Bill Parcells, this would be a hard team to coach. It's why Sean McVeigh is admired the way that he is, that he came in there and created a culture with a bunch of personalities that were kind of put together the same way the Browns are. Mark Slareth in 10 minutes. Last night the Bucks beat the Raptors.
Starting point is 01:02:55 Did anybody notice Brooke Lopez? Has anybody noticed that Brooke Lopez can shoot threes? Has anybody noticed what's happened to the league in the last six years? Brooke Lopez had 29 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, four threes. He is exactly what the Lakers had and gave up. I want to remind you of the incompetence of the Lakers who had a seven-footer. I don't know if you've noticed, but LeBron tends to work well with Chris Bosch, Kevin Love, and Biggs who can shoot. they had him, he was making nothing, and the Lakers let him go.
Starting point is 01:03:29 It should be noted when Brooke Lopez was let go, he was surprised. Quote, it just didn't end up working out. It kind of went in one direction pretty quickly. From that point on, I was looking at other options. I mean, I would have wanted to play here. And they went and got Javelle McGee who can't shoot. So you do get where the league's going. You do get that Brooke Lopez is high IQ and can shoot threes,
Starting point is 01:03:49 which is exactly what the Lakers need, had, and let go. and they're now 29th in the NBA in three-point shooting. And as Milwaukee goes to the finals, because I do think they'll beat Toronto, you're going to watch a former Laker who would have cost them nothing, who's exactly the kind of player teams are looking for, high- IQ, cheap veteran who can hit threes. Then they traded that young center, Zubach, who was a rim protector to the clippers for a end table.
Starting point is 01:04:17 And oh, by the way, Kyrie said yesterday, I'm not going to the Lakers. Clay's not, KD's not, Kauai's not. They don't have a team president. Shall I go on? And now the Knicks not getting Zion. They're going to go after Anthony Davis, and they have seven first round picks over the next five years,
Starting point is 01:04:38 and the number three pick in this draft, which is significantly better than the Lakers four pick. And for the record, Brian Winhor said this about the Lakers and the Knicks battling for Anthony Davis. From what I understand, the pelicans are not interested in making a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. Maybe had they gotten the filet mignon. Yes. The Zion pick.
Starting point is 01:05:00 But the pelicans have the filet mignon or the crawfish et tufe, whatever you want to say in the scenario. And the Lakers have a nice ribby, but they don't have the filet. So I think the Lakers are actually still out of position. Brooke Lopez, lighting it up last night. Lakers were paying him $3 million. Wanted to be a Laker. That works with LeBron well, like Bosch and Love. Biggs can go outside, take a big with him, clearing the basket for LeBron.
Starting point is 01:05:32 I mean, this stuff, these aren't jokes, but they write themselves. They're going to have nobody to blame. Absolutely nobody to blame. He's just going to spend the next two weeks bombing threes. And he cost you a nickel. I got a globe in my office that cost more than Brooke Lopez. He was unreal last night. Just, just, just boards, blocks, steals, threes, had him, wanted to be a Laker.
Starting point is 01:05:57 Works perfectly with LeBron. For the record, Luke Walton was upset when they let him go. I'm not sure if it was Magic Polinka. I'm not going to point a finger because I don't know, but that building decided we don't need a seven-footer who costs nothing and can hit threes and would work perfectly with LeBron. And now he's on display for the rest of the league to watch. Hey, by the way, my daughter, Alex, who works here, took me to the U.S. Open a couple of years ago. How great is it? It is on, like, that should be a bucket list for anybody to go to follow the golfers, and they are not from this planet. Like when you're sick, because you get right on top of the, like the T-box and stuff,
Starting point is 01:11:12 when they hit the golf ball, the sound that it makes, Yeah. Like it reminds me the first time I ever played in the NFL, I'm watching one-on-one run blocking the very first camp. I've come from the University of Idaho. And Russ Grimm's coming off the ball against Russ Grimm, Hall of Famer versus Dexter Manly. And that thing did, whoa! And I was like, oh, my God. I mean, this is a different world. Like, what have I gotten myself into? Like the sound it made was completely different. U.S. Open was phenomenal. OTAs. People say they don't matter. Odell Beckham won practice. I'm back. I'm leaving 65 days from the trade and his
Starting point is 01:11:48 coach said he still has to get his mind right. I know Cleveland wants to tell me, move along, it's all good here. It doesn't feel right, Mark. No. I mean, it doesn't. Like, do you want to be a great football player? He's an outstanding football player.
Starting point is 01:12:05 He's an outstanding talent. Right. Okay. Do you want to be a legendary football player or do you want to build a brand? Like, which is it? I'll tell you this about Instagram. Like, you want to lead the league in Instagram followers? You know what happens to the guy who dies with the most Instagram followers? He's dead.
Starting point is 01:12:22 Nobody cares. He's dead, right? There's no Hall of Fame for that. No. You don't, like, you don't take, they don't put a plaque up. I mean, like, he died, but he had a lot of Instagram followers. Like, like, Peyton Manning is the greatest pitchman in the history of the National Football League. Easily.
Starting point is 01:12:40 Easily. The biggest brand still to this day. Yeah. He did it in Indianapolis. You can do it anywhere. You know what? You know what the qualifier is? You've got to be great.
Starting point is 01:12:50 You've got to be a great player. Peyton Manning didn't do commercials for nine years. He just won games. That's what it is. Joe Gibbs used to say this to us all the time when I first got to Washington. And Joe Gibbs, the only coaching history, win three Super Bowls with three different quarterbacks, right? With Joe Thysman and Doug Williams and Mark Rippin, right?
Starting point is 01:13:09 And he said this all the time. He goes, hey, listen, guys, you know, these voluntary cams, and stuff. He used to say to us all the time, you don't have to live here in D.C. You don't have to. You don't have to spend the off-season's here. You don't. Unless, of course, you want to make this team. He goes, because then, if you want to make the team, you need to be here. He believed and he preached in us being together. I mean, I coached a little league team with my strength and conditioning coach, Dan Riley. Joe Jacoby and Russ Grimm didn't even have kids at that time. They coached the little league team. Like, we were barbecuing together. We were together.
Starting point is 01:13:44 And when you're together like that, you tend to sacrifice more for one another because it becomes important. It's not about you. It's about us. Yes. And that's what wins football games. And so I just believe in being together. I believe in working out together. I believe in eating together.
Starting point is 01:13:59 And, you know, I believe in that fellowship aspect that draws you closer together. I believe that's how you create championship teams, not just putting a collection of talent together. Because I guarantee that Cleveland Browns are as talented as anybody on the face of the planet. But everybody in the NFL is talented. You don't line up against the blind sisters of the poor ever. Nobody would ever say New England is the most talented team in the league. They weren't last year. No, but they just won Super Bowls because they're together.
Starting point is 01:14:22 Adam Gase, who you know very well, actually. He's one of these coaches you've had a lot of conversations with. I think he's Kyle Shanahan. We don't crush Shanahan for a losing record because Jimmy G. got hurt. We crush Adam Gase for getting fired, which, by the way, Shanahan, Belichick, Pete Carroll, and Ered have been fired, who had a winning record, by the way, Adam Gase, when Ryan Tannehill played.
Starting point is 01:14:42 I think it is his franchise. I had no problem with what the Jets did yesterday. Darnold and Gase are the franchise. Takes a while to figure out the GM doesn't work with him. Were you bothered yesterday by what happened? Well, initially, when it went down, I was like, that's the most jetty thing the Jets could do, right? Right.
Starting point is 01:14:59 Go through the whole off season, have the guy pick the head coach, right? Be very instrumental in picking Adam Gase and then doing the draft and signing all the free agents, $125 million spent on free agents. and then all of a sudden firing the guy. But here's where I think it could be beneficial. Adam Gase comes from Miami. That's where he was coaching. And Miami is, I mean, it's dysfunctional.
Starting point is 01:15:24 It needed a culture change. And I think Adam tried to change the culture, couldn't get it done in Miami because he wasn't empowered. He was appointed, but not empowered. And to change a culture, you have to be empowered. And you've got to set the culture, and then you've got to live the culture. every single day.
Starting point is 01:15:44 And if you're not given the power to do that, well, it's really hard to actually have that culture change. I'll tell you a quick story. I was there on a Friday practice calling a game for Fox. And I literally thought I was going to get in trouble. The practice was so dysfunctional. It was so bad. 12 years of playing, 18 years of broadcasting,
Starting point is 01:16:08 two years of doing games here at Fox, and I pulled Adam aside after practice and I said, dude, that's the worst practice I've ever seen in my entire life. The worst. What do you say? Tell me about it. Like, if you're not supported from the organization
Starting point is 01:16:23 and you're not empowered, I don't care who you are. You're not, you will, I promise you, you won't win. So if this was about empowering your head coach to set a culture and giving him that ultimate power, you know, that kind of veto stamp, then this could be a really good thing for the Jets if you spin it that way. If that's indeed what went on, I have no idea.
Starting point is 01:16:47 Now there's a report that he didn't love the Lavian Bell contract, and I've said this before. Sure. My theory on running backs is just go to the SEC, draft one every year. They can all play. It's just to draft SEC running back. Alabama's third running back will make the league, or LSU's, right?
Starting point is 01:17:02 But Goff, Gurley, Dach, Zeke, darn old Lavian. When I have a rookie and a rookie quarterback, I will overpay for a transformational running back for about three years. Because Goff isn't the same without Gurley. We saw the numbers this year. Zeeke gets hurt. Dax not the same. And Darnold needs, without O-line, he needs him. Lavian Bell works for me with the Jets.
Starting point is 01:17:28 I don't think the Steelers needed him with their O-Line, their weapons, and Big Ben. What do you make of Gase, Labian Bell, and the fit here? Yeah, I actually think it's a really good fit. I think it's more about I just came from Miami where I ended up trying to ship out in Domincu, Jarvis Landry, because I was trying to change the culture. Not that they're not great players, but, you know, I'm trying to change the culture. And this is, to me, overpaying for a guy who, you know, took a year off,
Starting point is 01:17:55 maybe didn't want to be there. But he is historically great. But here, this is where I think it's great. Now, I think that's probably Adam Gase's issue with Levyon Bell. But when you talk about the fit, Adam Gase probably runs 11 personnel, which is three wide receivers, one back. One back. One tight end.
Starting point is 01:18:15 It's a spread type of offense. He probably is in that. I think the last time I did a game last year for them, I had them at about 78 to 80 percent, somewhere in there, 78, 79, 80 percent of 11 personnel. And they run, I mean, he wants to be proficient in wide zone blocking. That's what they want to do. It's a zone system, wide zone, play action off the way. wide zone and then multiple formations where you get motion backs out, throw it to a back, and all that stuff.
Starting point is 01:18:44 Like, Leveon belt is perfect. One, he's one of the most, if not the most patient runner I've ever watched. So when you get to that wide zone, that wide stretch and you stretch, stretch, stretch, stretch, stretch, stretch, you set up those blocks and then you have the ability to cut back underneath that stuff. Like, he is a perfect fit there. So I think this could work. I think it's just that, one, I'm not empowered as the head coach.
Starting point is 01:19:07 to make these decisions, and I need the culture, the way I need the culture. I think that's the problem he had. And now, as a general manager, you get to set the tone as the interim general manager. And I'm sure they'll hire somebody else now because he's the head coach, offensive coordinator, general manager, Graham Pooba of all things football. That's Adam Gase right now. I think they'll go in a different direction. But ultimately, I think Levyon Bell is a great fit for what Adam Gase runs.
Starting point is 01:19:34 I'm very excited for football. Isn't it? It just feels like it feels good. Yeah. Yeah. By the way, Mark is part of Schlerath and Evans and the mornings in Denver. That thing is a smoke show. Yes, it is. Big numbers.
Starting point is 01:19:47 Yeah. Well, you know what? We pride ourselves on copying the stuff that you do. We just kind of take it. And it's really been successful for us. Good seeing you. I like what it's called. Joy with the News.
Starting point is 01:19:59 No. No. Turn on the news. This is the Herdline News. So the box were able to pull out a game one win against the Raptors last night, despite the Raptors dominating most of the game, and Janice was happy to take a back seat to his teammates down the stretch. It definitely feels amazing.
Starting point is 01:20:18 Usually when things don't go well in the past, the team did do great, but this year is insane. Even though I won't play well, the team is able to respond and to hold their own and the guys are coming off the bench, playing the right way, being a plus for the team. so it feels good. You know, it feels good not to be able to come every night and try to put my body in the line.
Starting point is 01:20:40 They stole that game last night. Absolutely. They stole it. They were outplayed. Now, I'm not knocking them. They were outplayed by the Celtics. So losing game one of the series is not the end of the world. But boy, Milwaukee, stole a basketball game last night.
Starting point is 01:20:55 Well, that's kind of why it hurts more for the Raptors. If it was just a win, just a solid win or a blowout, you'd almost feel like you could put that behind you. you more, but you felt like you had an opportunity if you're the Raptors to steal that game and take back home court advantage. And it got stolen from you. It just felt like they blew it. Like the fourth quarter
Starting point is 01:21:13 was a disaster. It was. What are you doing? They missed a free throw. They missed the last eight shots. You know, I realize this is like, obviously very easy to say sitting on my couch. But it drives me absolutely nuts to see clutch free throw
Starting point is 01:21:29 as being missed. It just it makes me crazy. I'm like, I don't, I understand the pressure in that moment, but it's like you have this opportunity to close it out and just missing free throws like that makes me nuts. But it was more than free throws in the last three minutes and 30 seconds of that game. And we keep showing Brooke Lopez who had an incredible game, so he was great. Can't be mad at that. God, he was great late too. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:52 I don't think the series is over. I think the Raptors just need to regroup and look at the positives of the situation. Don't focus on the fact that, you know, whatever happened in the last three minutes, hopefully still going to be a long series. But that was some game out of Brooke Lopez. So despite the recent wave of good luck in the NBA draft lottery, the Pelicans are not expected to be quite as lucky when it comes to keeping Anthony Davis. But it might have a nice parting at the very least. According to Mark J. Spears is undefeated.
Starting point is 01:22:20 The good news for the Pelicans is even with Anthony Davis still wanting to depart. At least his agent, Rich Paul, has a strong relationship with New Orleans, executive newcomer David Griffin, expect them both to work to find a rest of. respectful way to facilitate the right move for both parties. Now, obviously, Anthony Davis is with clutch sports. Rich Paul. David Griffin has worked a lot with Rich Paul. So if you're Rich Paul, though, obviously Rich, we know Rich Paul because he's part of
Starting point is 01:22:48 the LeBron group. I'm not saying Rich doesn't run his organization. I'm just saying I didn't know who Rich Paul was before LeBron. So Rich Paul represents LeBron and Anthony Davis. I think Rich would love for them to play together. but I think after Rich got so much negative publicity during the trading deadline, I don't feel like Rich is going to, I think Rich is going to just step back,
Starting point is 01:23:15 look at the offers and recommend stuff, because Rich took a real beating in that trade deadline. And I think Rich has stepped back and said, hey, man, and I contend this, Joy, and I've said this now. I think the Knicks, I think RJ Barrett, Zion, and picks, I mean, that excites me as an NBA fan. I'm like, oh, I want to watch that puppy work for four years. That whole Laker thing and Coosma and Lanzo and a four-pick, it just doesn't feel big to me.
Starting point is 01:23:43 I mean, we're also discounting the Celtics in this situation. Here's what I don't think is going to happen. I don't think any loyalties to LeBron are going to be influenced in this Anthony Davis move whatsoever because of the way things went down with the Lakers. Everybody looked bad. The Lakers look bad. The Pelicans look bad. They fired their GM.
Starting point is 01:24:00 Rich Paul looked bad. Anthony Davis even ended up looking bad. So I don't think that Anthony Davis is with the Lakers. I mean, I have no 1% is what I feel like the chances of that happening. There are other teams that have just way more pieces. And David Griffin's loyalty is not to LeBron. It's to the team that he is the GM of. He's going to make the best move for the Pelicans.
Starting point is 01:24:19 And that's not trading with the Lakers. The Lakers don't have the best pieces. Celtics have more pieces. The Nicks have more pieces. It doesn't make sense. And for that matter, Anthony Davis may not even be the right fit for LeBron. I know they have to get someone, but I don't think that the Lakers are really even in play in this situation. So to your point, I don't think that that is going to have anything to do with it.
Starting point is 01:24:38 They're going to make the right decision for Anthony Davis, and they're going to make the right decision. And they should, by the way, that's what an agent should do. Right. Otherwise, he's with the wrong agency. Now, it looked like that's what was happening with the trade deadline with the Lakers, obviously, but I think that they're going to go in the right direction with that. And finally, in a recent interview with GQ, O'Dell Beckham Jr. compared his new teammate Baker Mayfield to Brett Farr.
Starting point is 01:24:59 And yesterday, Baker responded to that comparison. Brett Farber was my favorite quarterback growing up, so it got me a little fired up. But you know what, if you don't have the mentality that you want to be the best to ever play, then I think you're doing it for the wrong reason. So people can pull it out of context, whatever they want. But he's just excited to be here, excited, you know, to get to work and start something new. Brett Farv is not the best to ever do it. Just as a small correction.
Starting point is 01:25:25 And he may have kind of pivoted his quote there, so I don't want to pick it apart. too much. He may have just been talking about O'Dell wanting to be the best thing. I don't mind his answer, though. That's fine. No, no, no. He does love Brett Farr. Remember he recreated that Jorts picture? Remember the famous Brett Farr picture where he was in the jeans shorts on the giant cell phone? And Baker Mayfield
Starting point is 01:25:43 recreated that. Brett Farr responded to him, said he wanted his shorts back. So this is his idol and he was compared a lot to him coming into the league. I have no problem with that. I think whatever we're going to do this entire year and it's no one's fault with the Browns is pick apart everything in the Browns.
Starting point is 01:25:59 do because this is what you have. You have a collection of talent. This is what we did with the Rams last year. So now it's the Browns turn. Everyone was skeptical of the Rams. Oh, you're signing all these big players. You have all these big contracts and stars. This is going to work.
Starting point is 01:26:13 Can you manage all these egos? And they proved that they could. What do you make of that beard baker's got? I think it's Ohio, you know. Is that Ohio? Yeah, Rothesberger usually rocks like some scruff and stuff. I'm not a big fan of it. Well, you can't grow a beard.
Starting point is 01:26:28 So there's a small, you know, twinge of jealousy there, I'm sure also. I don't like... If you could grow a monster beard like that, would you? No, it's gross. Not even, just once. No. Like just once during your crazy ski trip things you do. Caught in it?
Starting point is 01:26:42 No. Not, I don't, I know. Nothing. Goulet's the only beard on our show allowed is Goulet. And it's not that thick. But no, Baker has one that would stick out of the bottom of the helmet at this point. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 01:26:58 Enjoy the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Lye News. By the way, it is interesting. Every great run is built on somebody else's dysfunction. There's no question that the Patriots that the Jets did yesterday appears dysfunctional, and they have been.
Starting point is 01:27:16 You know, I mean, New England's had a buy in the playoffs every year since 2009. That's because they dominate their division. The AFC East has had 21 head coaches since Bill Belichick got hired. The AFC East, Bills, Jets, Dolphins, Patriots have had 20 years of incompetence. Tom Brady's had 40 playoff games. Only eight times he's been on the road. That's because they get a buy because they win their division. In fact, in the last 12 years, he's only played three road games, one of them in Kansas City.
Starting point is 01:27:46 So now, to New England's credit, they have taken advantage of the dysfunction. They deserve credit for that because Green Bay, Detroit and Chicago, for most of the last 10 years have been to functional and Green Bay did not take advantage of it enough. They didn't get enough home playoff games. They didn't win enough games. They only got one Super Bowl. So you've got to, now Chicago's real, and Minnesota's got a great roster. So I think it's going to be tougher for Green Bay going forward.
Starting point is 01:28:10 But don't forget, you know, Michael Jordan's bulls needed the Celtics and the Pistons to get old. And for Orlando, Shaq had to leave. And that made it a lot easier, so the East was easier. Don't, don't kid yourself. The Warriors, the last five years, the Lakers, the Lakers, the Lakers, used to run the West. They've been a disaster,
Starting point is 01:28:30 meaning they don't have to contend with the number one brand in the league being a threat. You don't think it's helped Nick Sabin that Auburn and LSU don't have elite coaches for most of his run at Alabama. That's not saying they still wouldn't be great.
Starting point is 01:28:44 Pete Carroll dominated the PAC 12. When Washington, UCLA, Stanford couldn't get their coaches right. Then Oregon got Chip Kelly. Stanford got Jim Harbaugh, and Pete Carroll didn't dominate the PAC 12. So dysfunction is a huge part of any business's success, and New England has feasted on organizations that can't get their act together.
Starting point is 01:29:06 I do think Gays and Darnold will be a very worthy adversary going forward. But, I mean, Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, and Sam Darnold, those are kids, and that's what they're going to face for years to come in New England. Ketino Mowgli's around the corner. Warriors, Blazers, Blazers, game two. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. Craziest stat I've ever heard. I read this yesterday on the internet.
Starting point is 01:33:35 Zion's going to the Pelicans. The state of Louisiana loses a football field of land per hour into the water. So over the course of a 24-hour period, just think of the size of 24 football fields. It disappears every day in New Orleans. So Zion's going, I just hope the state exists in eight years. I read that stat. I was like, what in God's name does that mean?
Starting point is 01:33:57 Better give me an excuse to get out of here quicker. Crazy. Good luck to the people of Louisiana. So let's talk about Zion. You know, he could go back, doesn't have an agent, he could go back to Duke. Catea Mowgli could go back to Duke. No way. All right.
Starting point is 01:34:11 He could play it with Pop for the national team for a year. No, I wouldn't do that. You would go. I'll work on my jump shot into pros with a whole bunch of money in my bank account. I'm not worried about going back to Duke for what When he tore his When he ripped out of that shoe Yeah
Starting point is 01:34:27 What did everybody say? Don't play Don't play So I'm not going to take the chance again I'm going to sign this contract I can get my degree Like Joy's fiancee Getting his degree right now
Starting point is 01:34:39 Right? I'm going to get my degree I'm going to work on business I'm going to do all the other stuff But with money in my bank account I'm not sitting here I'm not going to jeopardize you You know that that's actually a very interesting
Starting point is 01:34:48 Catino. A general not a general manager, a vice president of an NBA told me a month ago. He said, what I worry about
Starting point is 01:34:57 is this kid's ligaments. He goes, his torque is too violent for his body. Yes. Your takeaway is, listen, man, this kid,
Starting point is 01:35:06 we know he can play. Do not risk ripping it up, playing basketball, non-NBA basketball. It's so many opportunities out there for,
Starting point is 01:35:17 especially young entrepreneurs Uber, Lyft, Dropbox, this, that, all these different new technology companies, real estate. I just found out the other day that you can invest in a song.
Starting point is 01:35:31 Did you know that? You can literally invest in a song, stocks in a song, and make money from one song. Pick a song whether it's Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift, whoever it is, Drake, pick one of their songs
Starting point is 01:35:46 and invest in that song. You can make money from that. There's so many different opportunities. So when I go to the pros, that's what I'm going to do if I was him. I'm investing in different things in life. Like, why would I jeopardize myself to go back to college and do for what? I don't understand. No, I get that. I get that.
Starting point is 01:36:03 So I got to talk about something. This could be very uncomfortable for you. So I just found out something from Cotino Mobley is that he said, you recently put something on social media and Kevin Durant reacted very quickly. And I- Super quick. He texted you. Yeah, he hit me, hit me on DM. So you put it out what time?
Starting point is 01:36:22 I hit, I put it out on 803 at 804, a response by Kevin, who I love. And I'm like Kevin notice. I love you so much. I think you're the best player in the league. All time, you're like, he is actually the best offensive player ever. Okay, we all know that. I think right now he's the best player in the league. We know that.
Starting point is 01:36:42 But he is very reactionary. Super sensitive when it came to what I said. All I said was I think Golden State was more dangerous without him, right? And teams, because nobody knows Golden State three years ago, maybe, Kevin the Rent wasn't there. So you got to key in on how Golden State runs their offense. He gets hurt the fourth game against Houston Rockets. The scouting is different now.
Starting point is 01:37:13 So now Stefan Curry, which you saw, right? Stephen Curry, what you saw. His game goes up. Right. His game goes up. Draymond Green, Iqadala, all those guys. The Hampton 5, they're not playing no games. They're a really good team. Yeah, no, there's no quite.
Starting point is 01:37:27 It is funny. The other thing I found out that was shocking is that I said, how does Kevin Durant have your number? And you said he's a peer. We all have each other's number. And I don't have the number of any of my peers. I think I have Scott Van Pelt's number. That's it, of 400 peers.
Starting point is 01:37:43 So I'm fascinated. You have the number of every NBA player. No, not everybody. If you ask for a guy's phone number, then they'll give it to you. Okay. I'm not here to, and no, whatever it is, whether it's LeBron, whether Stephen Jackson, Jimmy Jackson, Russell Westbrook. If I asked for a certain person's number, we'll get their number and we'll talk about just life, investments, this, that, whatever. And, like, for Kevin, like, I just want him to know on air.
Starting point is 01:38:06 Like, I love you. Like, it's not, no disrespect. Everybody knows you the best. I'm just saying what the team will be like if you weren't there. Yeah, I mean, they're an eight-point favorite tonight without Boogie Cousins and KD. I mean. They were 12-0. when Steve Kerr left, 12 and 0 against playoff teams.
Starting point is 01:38:20 They're 13 and 3 when Steph doesn't play in the playoffs. 4 and 0 when KD doesn't. I just think it's very disrespectful how they view Stefan Curry as being so impactful and so important for that team. So like if Steph was out, we would, Charles Barkley would never say with KD, Drayman and Clay, you would never think of saying they can't beat anybody. Steph KD gets hurt and Barkley watches basketball.
Starting point is 01:38:48 Charles, like, they can't beat anybody. And I'm like, they can't beat Denver. Barkley was saying the same thing four or five years ago when they were a jump shooting team. Oh, you can't win with jump shots. Well, guess what? You were wrong. That's the league. That's what the league is.
Starting point is 01:39:00 It's a jump shooting league. Brooke Lopez. Put some contacts in. Okay. I want you to address the Kauai comparison. Okay. And I said this yesterday about Zion. I did this thing there, Dan.
Starting point is 01:39:11 It got a lot of pushback. And I said, you give me Zion and you give me the 12 best players in the league. And there's only a handful of guys because I get 15 years of Zion. And I said I would take Steph over Zion, Harden over Zion, Yonis over Zion, KD, but I wouldn't take Kauai.
Starting point is 01:39:27 And here's my theory. He has no magnetism. The five most important players in my, in 40 years in the NBA, most important, not best, are MJ Magic, I saw this. Shack, Steph,
Starting point is 01:39:40 who's the other one? LeBron. Lebron. They all have magnetism. Right. Zion has it. People will want to follow him. Be with him.
Starting point is 01:39:49 Play with him. And he works hard. He's extremely gifted and he's a hard worker. He has a dog in him. But there's an it to him. Kauai's just great. Yeah. He doesn't talk, doesn't pass, doesn't communicate.
Starting point is 01:40:02 People went nuts when I said, I wouldn't take... Wait, what was the second one? He doesn't what? He doesn't communicate. No, he doesn't pass. He's not a big passer. I don't think he's got this pie piper quality to him.
Starting point is 01:40:13 Right. I just think he's great. Right. What do you make a Kauai's game? No, I was just saying the same thing, and I was watching the game last night and kind of evaluating the whole thing and how Milwaukee Bucks schemed on how they played Kauai last night. And it's kind of like the same thing of what Toronto did with Giannis. They walled him.
Starting point is 01:40:31 But Giannis got that same kind of defense against Boston. So he made an adjustment after the first game, start passing more. His guys got more rhythm, knocking down shots. one history, right? I think Kauai makes it hard. First of all, he's not a volume shooter guy. He shouldn't be that guy.
Starting point is 01:40:51 He's to me, you need to be shooting 17 to 20 times a game. That's it. No more than that. Because you're not a pure shooter. You're a really good score, but you're not a pure shooter. So to be shooting the ball that many times, you're taking away from everybody else that can elevate their game as well. I think the way they were playing at tempo
Starting point is 01:41:08 last night, their team in the playoffs that can switch the tempo up. Markansas is a great post-up guy that mid-post. You know, Kauai Leonard can do a lot of different things. Kyle Lari showed up last night, wrong timing, you know, Siakum, it took away from him.
Starting point is 01:41:24 Green only had about six shots. I just think trying to force feed Kauai like that, that's not his game. That's not weird. Because he can't, now, he can't create for others. That's my thing. Three assists, his whole career. That's the most he's ever had. Three assists.
Starting point is 01:41:39 Average. That's what, and so, and it's not Like, I know Kauai's great, but there are people that I think have sort of a pied piper, an ability, a magnetism. Steph had it. Michael had it. LeBron's got it. Shack had it. Guys wanted to play with him. I mean, D. Wade's like, get Shaq over here.
Starting point is 01:41:56 All those guys you named, everybody wanted to be like. Nobody wants to be like Kauai. No, it's true. I mean, Joy, I mean, he's true. Well, I mean, he's just, it's a personality thing, too. I mean, if it was But I think personality with Kauai's,
Starting point is 01:42:14 if it was Yonis' personality with Kauai's style of play. Kauai to me is a quiet guy. Kauai to me is like Scottie Pippen to me one is a mentor when I came in my rookie year. He's the reason why I started my first year. He's like
Starting point is 01:42:29 Scottie Pippin when it comes to his talent because he's the, Scotty Pippin to me is the best two-way player ever. That's just my opinion. Yeah. But Scottie was a point forward. He was so important.
Starting point is 01:42:40 for his team. Kauai is important, but he just don't make everybody else better. I think he needs to learn how to pass the ball out more and it make his game a lot easier. And then his teams, it will show more of his development of his greatness. I don't think
Starting point is 01:42:56 it's a coincidence that the five most impactful NBA players in the last 40 years all had big personalities. Right. Like Kevin Durant may be sensitive, but he's got a big personality. And I think players would follow KD. I would like to be in the room, talk, interview.
Starting point is 01:43:13 It's seven footers that want to be just like KD right now. There's a kid. Oh, I got to go. We got to go. Go ahead. I don't want to go, but I have it. Oh, no, no. Just one kid. Back third. Next. One more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week within the IHard Radio app. Search herd to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like. Welcome back. By the way, I'm getting this from New Orleans. Why are you always picking on New Orleans? Why is the media Against New Orleans. Are you kidding me? The Saints and the Green Bay Packers
Starting point is 01:43:45 get more favorable coverage than any teams in the NFL. I mean, the nation gives New Orleans Super Bowls and Final Fours. Nobody's picking on New Orleans. Well, I mean, you've been a little hard on them with the complaining about the penalty. So there might be some
Starting point is 01:44:04 some feelings about that. I'm with you. I don't want to hear about it anymore. I was 100% on their side when it first happens, but we're done. We're done on that now. There's been some other teams. I mean, ask the Miami Hurricanes how complaining forever works out.
Starting point is 01:44:18 By the way, I'm not against the Pelicans. You have a history. It's awful. So when nobody's against the Pelicans, it's just not been a free agent hub, it's not been well run. That's not saying you couldn't win now. But nobody's anti-New Orleans.
Starting point is 01:44:31 The nation gives them great events and great conventions. The Netherlands is a great city. Players love going there. It's nothing against a city. at all. I just think I'd like to see Zion play in Chicago or New York or with LeBron. That's my choice. Jason Terry played in the NBA for 19 years. He was a champ with a Dallas Maverick, sixth man of the year, won a national title with Arizona. And anytime he wants to go into the media, he will certainly be welcome with open arms. And he is joining us now on the
Starting point is 01:44:59 phone. You know, you played with Janus. And I think your last year in Milwaukee, he was becoming a great player. When was the first moment, Jason? You knew that Janus was different and you were looking at a transformational talent. One night after a loss, he didn't play particularly well, didn't shoot it well at all. And before Jay Kea could come in and do his postgame speech, he had bolted out of there in his full uniform and went over about 15 minutes away to the practice facility and was there for about three hours to about two, three in the morning. And everybody was like, where's honest, where's Johnis? And the security caught him, you know, in the gym. He was in there working out. And at that moment, they told me like, this kid's different. Anybody else would
Starting point is 01:45:50 just went home. It's just another loss. But you know, let, lo and behold, he's in the gym, working on his game. That spoke volumes to me. You know, Jason, I've said this before that I could make an argument that the five most important players in the NBA in the last 40 years have been Michael, Magic, LeBron, Steph, and Shaq. And they all had a certain magnetism. People wanted to play like them. Players wanted to be like them. Kauai Leonard's talented, but he doesn't talk much. He doesn't pass much. He's not a big communicator. He's just a great player. How do you look at Kauai? I see. players wanting to play with Steph, and I think they'd want to play with KD, and they've wanted
Starting point is 01:46:36 to play with D Wade, guys that have personalities and can elevate others. What do you make of Kauai? He doesn't feel like the others. Well, that would be the only thing that he would be missing is that personality, but he checks every other box. I mean, as far as far as far potential, being able to play both ends of the floor and not just play them, but dominate. What you've seen out of him in this postseason, averaging over 30 points a game in every series, multiple games of 40 points per game.
Starting point is 01:47:10 You've seen him elevate his offensive game to an elite level. We know he's been an elite defender in this league. That's how he made his mark. But now offensively, shouldering the load, single-handedly carrying this team to the Easter conference finals, when the other guys that have been there have not quite stepping up besides last night. You're talking about Kyle Lowry. Sergei Baca stepped up in game seven in the prior series. But he's literally done it by himself.
Starting point is 01:47:37 And I think seeing that transformation of his game just tells me that he still has a ways to go. He's still a young star. He's not yet reached his prime. He may go down as one of the greatest two-way players that we've ever seen in our time. Do you think, now put yourself in his shoes. Speaking of shoes, you can make a lot more money on a shoe deal being in L.A. than being in Canada. I mean, would you stay if you were him?
Starting point is 01:48:01 Would you? Stay, but I can tell you this. If he goes to a larger market, I could see his star elevating, right? I could see him start to develop that personality. It just takes a big market to bring it out of it. You've got to think when he came into the league, he was in San Antonio. Now he just shipped to Toronto. So he has yet to play in that elite level, large market, high media market,
Starting point is 01:48:32 where the expectations are higher. and the camera will be on him every minute of the hour, and he will be almost forced to bring his personality out. So Zion goes to the Pelicans, and my concern is, I love this kid. I love his game. I love his personality. I think there's an absolute it quality to him, but I saw what happened to Anthony Davis there, and he disappeared.
Starting point is 01:48:56 And I root for the player, not the team. I root for the individual. If Tom Brady retires, I don't care about the Patriots. I'm a Brady guy. I'm a LeBron guy. By the way, I'm a Jason Terry guy. Zion to the Pelicans worries me, Jason. It worries me that he's going to get lost in the league.
Starting point is 01:49:14 Could you see, I mean, I said yesterday, he hasn't signed an agent yet. I'm not going back to college, but I could play for the national team. What do you make of the Pelicans? Do you feel optimistic about it for him? Very optimistic. One, I speak high praise of Alton's entry in the job he's done with, less talent with all the rumors flying around there. He's still kind of steady to shift.
Starting point is 01:49:39 Then you look at David Griffin coming in there. He was in Cleveland. He's a great gym, great basketball mine. And one thing you know about him, he's not going to back down to anybody trying to push him around to make a deal. And I think drafting Zion with the Cleveland Cavaliers is something that they definitely have to look at. He's a star.
Starting point is 01:49:59 New Orleans is going to have to be an organization that is built around a star player star quality and Zion fits the bill early. Now, is it unfair to put those expectations on them? Not really, because when you look at them and the way he moved the needle in college and the impact that he made at the collegiate level, it has to transition. I mean, you've seen LeBron when he came in all the hype. Zion has had just as much height, not hype, not more, but just as much. The impact he will have in the way basketball is played today,
Starting point is 01:50:31 whether it's Cleveland, New York, or L.A. or anywhere or New Orleans, I'm sorry, not Cleveland, but New Orleans, it will be a tremendous impact. I just can't wait to see the kids step on the floor and compete against this generation. Yeah. You know, it's a remarkable golden state's depth. So KD. has missed four games since the dynasty started. They're four and O in the playoffs when he's missed it. They're 12 and 3 in the playoffs when Steph missed a game. They're 12 and O in the playoffs when Steve Kerr missed a game. You've been in this league almost two decades. The ability to lose your coach and superstars and be 25 and 3. By the way, they don't have KD or Boogie tonight.
Starting point is 01:51:11 They're an eight-point favorite. You could make an argument. This is the greatest dynasty ever. I mean, I don't think if Michael took a night off, Pippin and the Bulls would have been this good. What do you make of this team? Are they the best team since you've been in the league? They're the best team I've ever seen. And, again, high expectations year after year, still answering the bill.
Starting point is 01:51:34 Yes, they added Kevin Durant. Who wouldn't have added Kevin Durant to the guys they have? One thing I say about Golden State with transition to anywhere in America, across the country, is shooting. They have the two greatest shooters of all time. Then you add KD, one of the greatest scores of all times, and they're going to have the advantage against anybody. they play. One full, man, a long, I mean,
Starting point is 01:52:03 any of the great, Chad, Colby, any of the grace that you line those two guys up with, they're going to have the advantage because they can flat out
Starting point is 01:52:11 shoot the ball. The last time I checked, the game of basketball is whoever scores the most point. We always say defense wins championships, but the Gold State Warriors
Starting point is 01:52:21 over the last five years have proven to you, if you can shoot the ball efficiently at a high rate and a high percentage, you will win a majority of your games, and they've done it at an all-time level. They, to me, if they win this year,
Starting point is 01:52:37 they surpassed Michael Jordan and the Bulls as the greatest diamond ever. That's just me saying it. You know, now we do look at Michael. They never lost in the finals. We get it. I'm saying the series in the finals. They've never lost, right?
Starting point is 01:52:50 Hard to beat. But if you look at Golden State and the waiter constructed, and if KD comes back and they win this year, they're up there. They're one and two neck and neck. with those fools. By the way, guessing game. I want you to guess.
Starting point is 01:53:05 KD. to the Knicks. Think it happens? I just don't see it. Just for me, I don't know KD. I mean, he's a different guy. You never know what he's thinking. But there's nothing about me that says he wants to go play in a bigger market. And if you look at that Golden State, the Frisco area, Bay Area,
Starting point is 01:53:31 at the market they're in, they're moving into a new arena, the guy he's playing around, the culture they've created. To me, it just fits. He goes to New York. There's going to be so much more scrutiny on him, so much more attention, so many more questions he has to answer. Does he really want that stress? He doesn't seem like a guy that wants that type of stress.
Starting point is 01:53:52 I mean, just listen to all his interviews. Jason, good talking to you, buddy. Yes, sir. Anytime. Jason Terry. I think I would put my, I think Michael Jordan's Bulls are the best team I've ever seen because they could do it on both ends. They had the best rebounder, they've had the best player, the best number two, the best
Starting point is 01:54:10 European, the best coach. And then like, you just forget that Horace Grant. I think Golden State is in a class of three other teams. The Shaq Kobe Lakers and the Showtime Lakers and Golden State. And I can't really separate them. It depends on the rules. I think Shaq would be a, like, Like if the Warriors tonight played Shaq and his prime in Kobe with no boogie cousins,
Starting point is 01:54:34 that would just be a disaster for Golden State. You could just dump the ball into Shaq for literally three hours. Who does shack guard? That does present a dilemma. I mean, does he need to guard anyone? I'll tell you what. You're not going to get anything at the rim as he's playing defense. Yeah, but three is more than two.
Starting point is 01:54:57 Well, it is. But Draymond doesn't shoot three so he can guard Draymond. Ramon doesn't guard threes. I'd let Draymond shoot threes all day long. I'd sit in the hole and say, Draymond, you go out there and shoot. So when they do the pick and roll with Steph, you're going to have Shaq on Steph.
Starting point is 01:55:11 How's that going to go? Shack would eat Steph. Right. And the series would be over. And then use his bones for toothpicks. Joy with the news. No. No.
Starting point is 01:55:20 Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. That's an interesting conversation, but I think I'm taking the Lakers in that spot. Well, again, so defensively, who would Shack guard? Dremon. Dremon. And by the way, if Draymond's shooting 16-3s,
Starting point is 01:55:34 and that means Klan staff aren't, I'm really good with that. Also, let's not forget how incredibly athletic shack was. Well, the early shack, he got a little heavy. Okay, but, I mean, was he athletic with the Lakers? Yes, he was very athletic. He was a handful. He was like four handfuls. So I don't know.
Starting point is 01:55:53 I'm taking the Lakers there. All right, so after leading for most of the game last night, the Raptors had a chance to grab a 1-0 series lead and steal home court advantage. But it didn't happen. They dropped their opener, 108, 100 to the bucks. And here is Kyle Lowry's reasoning. Pretty frustrating.
Starting point is 01:56:09 You know what I mean? Fourth quarter killed us, 32, 17. I mean, they outplayed in that fourth quarter. They got a little bit more aggressive. They made some big shots, made some big plays. Yeah, we just, it sucks when you lose like that. But, you know, we had a chance, and we got to learn from it, make an adjustment. you know, stay even killed, never.
Starting point is 01:56:32 You know, not too high, not too low. Just look at the film and get better. Kyle Lowry was actually the only raptor to even make a shot in the fourth quarter. He was five of seven. The rest of the team was 0.15. Oh, what? What? I didn't know that stat. Yeah. And even more important was the final three minutes and 30 seconds of the game. Remember, the bucks were down two points, 198, the three minutes and 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Starting point is 01:56:55 And we are showing the numbers there. the Bucks just took over at the end of the game. Lowry was the, I didn't know that. You watch a game, you don't get, you forget that. Well, the fourth quarter looked. I mean, Kyle Lowry had an incredible game. You can't ask for more from him. And the fourth quarter looked like they just stopped playing.
Starting point is 01:57:11 It was, it was remarkable. They were gassed. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. I just, I feel like that was not the way that you want to lose that game. You dominate the entire game. It really felt like, wow, they're going to go into Milwaukee and steal this game from the Bucks. It just looked like the entire. series was going to change and then the bucks pulled it off, which in reality winning game
Starting point is 01:57:30 one at home is what you're supposed to do, but it doesn't feel that way. It felt more dramatic based off the way that the game went. So Levy on Bells responded to a report that head coach and now interim GM Adam Gaze did not want the Jets to sign him. He tweeted there's been a bunch of false reports and speculation about me in the past about things I've said and done, so I'm used to this. I don't jump to conclusions when I hear or see a story that may affect me. Even if the reports are true, that won't stop me from doing what I came here to do. Everyone has a job to do. I'm going to do mine, whether people like me or not, I'm here to win football games. I would love to have him on the show.
Starting point is 01:58:02 I'm fascinated by Levy and Bell. I think he's very interesting. You know, Levy and Bell's got a little Ricky Williams in him. He's like, listen, man, this is my body in my life. I get a say in my body in my life. I'm a running back. We have the shortest careers in the league. Like last year, he's like, I'm taking the year off.
Starting point is 01:58:19 There was a report he was 265. He's not 265. I think he's a fascinating guy. And listen, if he comes in with the right mindset with Adam Gase's one back offense, which he prefers, let's not forget, this guy was historically an all-time running back. 85 catches, 250 carries. That's unheard of. It's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:58:39 It's a bit of a Kauai effect that we're having with Levion. And I realize everyone's a little more skeptical because of the position that he plays. That's a good way of putting it. That's what it is. He's been away. So we forget how good Levion is. Levion was considered the best running back in the league when he was on the field. It was debatable, obviously, but no one was saying he wasn't top three,
Starting point is 01:58:59 no matter what your preference of style of running was. And the other thing is he left. Steelers didn't make the playoffs. They weren't as good. And that's with a great O line, great receivers, big Ben. So he clearly had an impact on the bottom line because at the end of the year, they were fine without him early. But at the end of the year, when they needed yards on the ground in Pittsburgh,
Starting point is 01:59:17 they came up short. They were not the same running. You can't replace Levy on Bell. It's not just like I don't think that you can replace. Antonio Brown either, but you're going to have to make it work. Now, you have Judy Smith-Schuster. Our offense is going to look completely different this year. And like I've been saying, we're going to get to see where the drama really is.
Starting point is 01:59:35 Is it really Levion Bell and Antonio Brown? Or is it the culture there in Pittsburgh that's broken? We're going to find out this year. Speaking of culture, Freddie Kitchens has already had to defend O'Dell Beckham, Jr. for his lack of participation, including skipping extra mini-camp last month. He did acknowledge he would love 100% participation from Odell. Yeah. After Odell participated in the first day of OTAs, Tuesday, he was gone again yesterday,
Starting point is 02:00:01 and Kitchens didn't appear to be defending him as much as he did last month. I've never disputed the fact that it's not important for him to be here, but it's also important for him to be mentally ready to be here. All right? So I'm not giving him an out by any stretch of imagination. Nobody here knows the conversations that O'Dell now have. So I'm just saying it's better for him to be here when he can present his best self. Emotionally, physically, everything.
Starting point is 02:00:31 It sounds like they're babing him already. That's what it sounds like to me. It's a disappointed dad qualifying things. That sounds like, I mean, do you really have to say this if you're Bill Belichick about your star players? I don't want to speculate on what's going on with Odell, but in order for me to believe what Freddie Kitchens just said is authentic, then there must be something deeper to the situation as to why he's not there. And it's not just that he is not training there. Because veterans don't come to voluntary workouts all the time.
Starting point is 02:01:04 And it's not a story that we do. It's not just because it's Odell. Superstars don't come to every single voluntary workout. It's not that odd. So the idea that he's not emotionally ready would have you believe that there's a reason why he's not there. because, look, you don't have to go to voluntary workouts. They're voluntary. Right.
Starting point is 02:01:25 But if you're a receiver, you want to be working with your quarterback. You don't even know. You're entering a new offense. You're in a new city. You're with a new team, new teammates. There's some level of integration that you want to be involved in. It's not just staying in shape and working with your trainer. Julio Jones sat out of a camp, but he and Matt Ryan have worked together for like seven years.
Starting point is 02:01:43 I don't need Julio Jones to go to an OTA. Yeah, in general, these veterans that are sitting out have been a part of the team. I don't have a problem. their workout process. They're not worried about getting on the same page with their quarterback. So I don't want to pick apart everything that the Browns are doing, even though that's what we're going to do all year. I just feel, and if there is something deeper going on, I respect that.
Starting point is 02:02:03 But if there's not, then I have to imagine that Freddie Kitchens is already letting things get off the rails with, it's a lot to manage all these egos. By the way, we have a very important update to Brown's, I guess, camp. Well, you mentioned earlier that you were not fond of Baker's beard. I thought it looks scruffy and he's the franchise quarterback. I hated his beard. Well, it's over. Okay, that I like.
Starting point is 02:02:26 That I like. That's a franchise quarterback. I don't want your hat on backwards. Was his beard like taking away from his ability to like read defenses or something? Well, no, I see. He doesn't play for the blues travelers. Let's clean it up a little bit. I didn't play for the Browns?
Starting point is 02:02:41 It's like a rugged, you know, blue collar city. Didn't the blues travelers have a bunch of guys with Ozzy Top had guys with beards? Big difference. Okay. I just want my quarterback. And it's blues traveler, not the blues travelers. Well, they got, they, they traveled a lot. At the end, they were just travelers.
Starting point is 02:02:56 All I'm saying is I want, that's what my franchise quarterback. I don't mind, I don't mind the head band is, I don't, it's fine. If you're keeping sweat out. But I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, by the way, I just want to look like the. Andrew Luck has the most obnoxious beard. And I hate it. You don't. You love Andrew Lutz.
Starting point is 02:03:17 You have, no, I've never heard you say anything bad, I just did. I don't like it. I don't like his scruffy beard. I don't like it. By the way, when Matt Patricia wore his hat backwards as a coach, and I ripped him. Next week, he had it forward because I was told that the executives where Detroit said, clean it up. You come, you're the franchise quarterback. You're a good-looking kid. Come on, look to part. I don't even know what Andrew Luck looks like about years. You can't have an off-season beard, though. I have told, I'm going to tell Andrew personally when I see him for the opener, clean the neck up. You are not. I do not believe that.
Starting point is 02:03:49 I do not like it. Okay. There we go. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herd Lye News. I'm going to take a walk down, OBJ Memory Lane.
Starting point is 02:04:00 It's actually fascinating. His 10 biggest moments in the NFL, I think you're going to be surprised what they are. That's coming up. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the I-Heart Radio app. Guy Summers here. Tommy John's red, white and blue underwear collection.
Starting point is 02:04:20 Perfect for Fourth of July. Fireworks. Go to Tommyjohn.com. Code heard 20% off your first order. You know, I always wanted to, best for last today. I always wanted to enjoy. Host family feud. You know, where they'd serve 100 people for the answer. It'd survey 100 people. And I was talking about Odell Beckham.
Starting point is 02:04:35 And Odell Beckham basically came to practice for one day. OTA left. And I do think the symmetry between quarterback and receiver is huge, especially young quarterback Baker-Mafield and wide receiver. Freddie Kitchens is downplaying it, but clearly annoyed and acknowledging we wish OBJ was here. And so let's not kid ourselves here. Julio Jones and Matt Ryan can skip now.
Starting point is 02:04:58 Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald at the end could skip. Big Ben in about three years won't need Jou Jou Smith-Schuster at camp. But you're a second-year quarterback and you've got a new wide receiver. You've got to be there. It's like a thing. You've got to be there. And receiver running and receiver quarterback is a real, timing relationship.
Starting point is 02:05:20 You know, linebacker, corner, running back, Gap, hit it. It's not the same. So I always wanted to host family feud. And so I'm going to do,
Starting point is 02:05:29 it's just remarkable if you think of OBJ's career, of his top 10 moments in his career. And when it's done, let's look back at what they are. So top 10 answers
Starting point is 02:05:39 on the board. Number one, the catch. That's the most known thing about O'clock. O'Dell Beckham, Jr. Probably the greatest one catch in the history of football. The Giants, by the way, did lose a shootout to the Cowboys, 31-28.
Starting point is 02:06:00 Defensive pass interference was actually called in the play, but the Giants declined it. This was a late November game against the Cowboys. You know, it was one of those Sunday night, Al Michaels, Chris Collinsworth talked about for a week. Now it's mimicked by other players. It was an all-time NFL moment. All right. Two, traded to the Browns. All right, that's the second biggest moment in his career,
Starting point is 02:06:25 because the Giants said, we will not trade him. And then the Giants, we traded him. August of 2018, the Giants had just signed him, by the way, to a massive contract. So they said they wouldn't trade him. They traded him. That's number two. Number three, the boat. Listen, it was before a playoff game.
Starting point is 02:06:45 And this was going to be Odell Beckham in prime time. And we knew Eli had a history when East. Eli gets into the playoffs, he has a way of winning playoff games. Six days before the game against the Packers. Then he came out and he had an awful game against the Packers. No touchdowns, three drops, only 28 yards. It was a really, optically, it was a really bad look for him. Number four, I think the fight with a kicking net.
Starting point is 02:07:12 That was a couple years ago with the Redskins. That, we've used that 100 times. It came back to bang him in the head. Eli threw a pick late in the fourth quarter. OBJ got in a fight with a net. The Redskins won. And that was the time people started saying, this kid, he's got to button it up.
Starting point is 02:07:28 He's kind of going sideways. Number five, proposing to the kicking net. Perhaps trying to downplay the kicking net a month later. He proposed to it. He actually had a very good game over 200 yards against the Ravens. It was late in the fourth quarter. But that's what people remember about.
Starting point is 02:07:48 that game. You don't remember who they played. It was the Ravens. You don't remember the two touchdowns. This was the fifth biggest moment in OBJ's career. Number six, the Paris Hotel Room, which I, by the way, defended. Offseason, out of the country, supermodel, there was some stuff there, video surfaced, it wasn't just pizza, there was a substance. I mostly defended him here. Offseason, model, Paris. I'm good. That's pretty good on that. But this was,
Starting point is 02:08:22 this was off season. We talked about this puppy for two weeks. The seventh biggest moment. The commercial with Eli. They did a spoof of dirty dancing. It was very, very funny. Great commercial. This was a great commercial.
Starting point is 02:08:35 And this was really, it was perfect. The guy who wrote this, the director, this was how you do a commercial with a low-key guy and a controversial guy, this was amazing.
Starting point is 02:08:48 Number eight, the meltdown in the tunnel. A couple of years ago, a preseason game, actually ironically, against the Cleveland Browns. It was a low hit. He was injured. And it was, now, his reaction was very dramatic, kneeling on the field, collapsing in the tunnel. It did turn out to just be an ankle sprain. But, you know, he is a smaller athlete.
Starting point is 02:09:12 He was freaking out. He's a speed guy. That's the worst place to hit him. I actually thought when I saw it, it was going to be far. worse than this. Yeah. But it was a major story, a meltdown in the tunnel, very dramatic. Number nine, the fight with Josh Norman. Two big personalities went toe to toe. It was actually crazy. It was a December game with the Carolina Panthers. They were John the entire game. OBJ committed a helmet-to-helmet hit. Flags were thrown both during the game. League issued a warning as they
Starting point is 02:09:44 faced off again. It was really intense. And again, I, I, This didn't bother me. I mean, this is football. Odell's got pride. Josh Norman is a trash talker. I know both. I like both. But it was a story, and it was video that's been played over and over.
Starting point is 02:10:02 Number 10, peeing in the end zone. Not a big fan of this. Giants were getting beat badly by the Eagles by a couple of touchdowns. He had a touchdown. Giants lost the game. I just thought he's better than that. I mean, you're an American suit. superstar. But by the way, Steph Curry once did something on a basketball court. I don't need to get into it.
Starting point is 02:10:23 I didn't love either. This isn't the end of the world. It didn't bother me as nearly as much as it appeared to bother the New York media that went apoplectic. Not the end of the world. Not my favorite. It's like the Randy Moss mooning. Do better, but I don't give much of a rip. Now, here's what's interesting. So when you go back to the 10 biggest moments in Odell Beckham's career, one great catch, one great commercial and a lot of nonsense. I mean, that's my problem. Not a whole lot of on the field activity there.
Starting point is 02:10:58 Like, that's that. And again, Mark Schlerth, are you building a brand? Are you looking for Instagram followers? I like him. I've talked to him. Long talk. I think he's an all-time talent. But I didn't even put this Cleveland thing in the top 10.
Starting point is 02:11:15 Come on. You got to be it. You got to connect with Baker Mayfield. You got to be there. You're better than this. Odell is a great talent on the field. We haven't listed a lot of his moments on the field, but that's really why everyone cares.
Starting point is 02:11:28 You know, he's a great personality. Lots of people with great personalities don't resonate with this. You have to be great. Life is full of hurdles.
