Starting point is 00:17:06 Am I all right today? Brighter days. Yeah, I got a lot of cool shit going on this weekend, so I'm excited that that's bringing my endorphins up. Ah, your endorphins. Yeah, good distractions coming up. We had a little jam session on IG Live the other night. I tuned in for a few.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Yeah, I wasn't sure if that was you or a fake page. No, that was me. Because some people just make y'all pages with the same Abby, and I think y'all are talking to me. And I'm like, Parks wouldn or a fake page. No, that was me. Because some people just make y'all pages with the same avi, and I think y'all are talking to me. And I'm like, Parks wouldn't say that. You know, that was me. I was checking you out. Did they cut you off for playing music? Yes.
Starting point is 00:17:32 I got a bunch of notifications I'd never seen before in my entire life. It was like, hey, shut this off in 30 seconds, or we're shutting you down completely. Were you playing your own shit? And then it allows you to say ignore. I was like, all right, I'll ignore it. And yeah, they just kept shutting me down. Were you playing your shit? Yeah, I was playing other shit,, I'll ignore it. And yeah, they just kept shutting me down. Were you playing your shit? Yeah, I was playing other shit too, though.
Starting point is 00:17:48 Do you think he owns his shit? I do, actually. They're talking shit. Yeah, I don't know what the fuck. Pow! Yeah. I know you don't own yours, but Jesus Christ, don't project that on me. Pow!
Starting point is 00:18:01 You think Rory not clapping back at Hove's birthday? Of course not. You think Rory not clapping back on Hov's birthday? Of course not. Random, I do think it's funny that the NBA just announced that they won't be testing players for marijuana, and instead of the NBA trending, J.R. Smith is trending. Just him by himself. You think he smokes a little marijuana?
Starting point is 00:18:17 He's the Jerry West of that shit, man. Smoking weed and playing ball? He's the logo. No, he's going to average 40. He's high? Grams. 40 grams. They said Mike Tyson was high before the fight, right?
Starting point is 00:18:32 He said he was high. No, no. J.R. Smith said it. He told us. It was Mike himself. On video smoking. Yeah. I was smoking him before the fight.
Starting point is 00:18:41 He looked real good to be fighting high. Yeah. Fighting high is kind of tough. Yeah. I don't want to fight when I'm high. There was one fight I had where I was high out of this universe. On what, though? Right?
Starting point is 00:18:55 A lot of stuff. Oh, okay. That's different. It was a lot going on, and I got into a little fisticuffs, and it felt like it was in slow motion, and I felt like I just kept missing everything, but I was connecting somehow. You were the Matrix?
Starting point is 00:19:08 I was missing but I was getting them. That's funny. A high fight is pretty funny. I want to shout out to our YouTube viewership. Shout out to the YouTube commenters. Maul's hair is braided just for you guys. Shout out to our Apple listenership.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Shout out to our SoundCloud listenership and the rest of you niggas that are bootlegging and scamming and listening to wherever you might be listening from. With that said, Maul, big day for you. Big day for you.
Starting point is 00:19:35 For me? Yes. Happy belated birthday to Hov, the bar, the blueprint, the greatest. Absolutely. Absolutely. Happy birthday, Hov.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Did you text him this morning too? No, I didn't. Oh yeah, that's what we were clowning. But you're the heir to the throne. That's what we were clowning Rory about before you got here. And Joe. Joe also texted him, happy birthday, big bro. Okay. And thank you for everything that you've ever done for me.
Starting point is 00:19:58 Oh, that's sweet. I thought it was nice. I wasn't clowning anyone. That keep one eye open like CBS, I didn't really get it back then, but now I understand. Then I turned on my cable. Yeah. And saw the logo. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Well, that's good. I'm glad y'all texted me. I never said that I did that. I was trying to introduce a Rory joke. Oh, okay. But they brought it to me. That was nice of Rory. I didn't do anything.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Happy birthday to Hov. What emoji? What emoji juice? Come on. What emoji? What emoji juice? Come on. What emoji did you send? A balloon? I mean, maybe.
Starting point is 00:20:30 The party hat? Maybe a cake. Maybe a cake. You sent Jay a cake. That nigga blocked you, man. Can't send Hov no cake emoji, man. I did not send Hov a cake emoji, man. Yes, you did. Yes, you did. Yes, you did.
Starting point is 00:20:46 I believe it. I tried to get Broy to tell me what happened, like tell me what he did, but he wouldn't tell me. He just said he said happy birthday. Yeah, I think that's cool. Then I asked him if we could utilize his Hove call to wish Hove a happy birthday on the podcast.
Starting point is 00:21:00 He said no. Absolutely not. Oh, yeah. And I said no, too. I wouldn't do that but what about Mo he is his number two well that's why
Starting point is 00:21:08 this whole episode will be dedicated to Mo placing his phone right here and us making calls from his phone book you guys want to call

Look what Joe think about me. I'm lying on my talk. He taking it worse than lying on your dick.
Starting point is 00:21:50 You lying on talk? Yeah, you might be lying on the talk. You know what I overheard a young lady say? Ma was like them chicks that say, oh, yeah, we used to talk, and all you did was DM once. I heard a young lady say that it's very easy to date two niggas that's boys because they don't talk to each other about shit. That's a really good point.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Hey! Wait a second! There might be some truth to that. There's definitely some truth to that. But eventually, you know... Who cares if it's eventually after we both done put her in a blender. We finding out years later one of us like her more now.
Starting point is 00:22:26 I'm mad at you. Yeah, no, I mean, but you know. Is this something that happened? It's something I would like to happen. I mean, we talked about it. As soon as that falls off. Yo, look what you be wishing for. When y'all gonna stop?
Starting point is 00:22:43 We don't talk like that. Every now and then. I be bringing her to the stage in the chatty house. She told me. But that's the line. Yeah, yeah. That's the line.
Starting point is 00:22:54 Yo, bro, you're lying on the talk. I don't know. I don't know. Now she gonna keep her little ass in the audience now. Just for that little line you threw out there.
Starting point is 00:23:03 It's just regular conversations. Not like that. Mo, what do you save, and then we're going to actually talk about things because there are some things to get to, but what do you save
Starting point is 00:23:10 women in your phone as? Under their name? Their name. Initials? A pet name? No, their name, but then if it's a common name on my phone,
Starting point is 00:23:19 I'll... The app that you met them on? Yeah, when it says company, I'll put their IG name. Their outfit? The outfit they had on? That is her company, too. In your favorite picture?
Starting point is 00:23:29 Red dress. No, now they have the, you know, when they update their own contact, they have the picture, the name. But you have to start getting their contact. You have to start getting creative. I never accept that. I'm not updating anybody's contact. I don't want to know what's picture.
Starting point is 00:23:41 When they have the photo, absolutely, you should. Why? Nah, that's trouble to double. No, no way. Are you kidding me? See, more than in a single life too long. When you play that game, chicks look over at my phone anytime it light up.
Starting point is 00:23:54 Well, used to. Yeah, but that's when you gotta tell them, like, friends. I know people. Yo, more. Let me just tell you something. Is that how more things that go? Let me tell you something. Is that how Maul thinks that goes? Let me tell you something. When a woman that you're dating looks over and says, who is that?
Starting point is 00:24:10 And you say, oh, it's just a friend of mine you don't know. I know people. I'm popular, bitch. Suck it up. No, Maul. You the only woman I know? That's what you're going to say? Been in the game for years and made me an animal?
Starting point is 00:24:22 What else can you say? No, Maul. Maul probably thinks the line. I've actually known her longer than you would actually work too. Right. If it's true. Yeah. The truth always works.
Starting point is 00:24:30 When you, when you say that, please keep your left. It doesn't by the way. The truth works. The truth never works. It only lies is what gets you in trouble. The truth.
Starting point is 00:24:38 Just tell the truth. Yo, did he just say, I'll tell her. I know I've known her longer than you. He thinks that would work. If I do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:43 If I do. That's not a lie. And Maul's never had a woman throw hands at him. It's just never. They respect the truth. Maul thinks women respect the truth. Oh, God. This is not our start.
Starting point is 00:24:55 This was not our start. Please. Ask women if they respect the truth. No, Maul. We have a lie. And then ask them if they've ever lied, because they're lying if they say they respect the truth. Everybody lies, but women hate when you lie to them more.
Starting point is 00:25:06 They respect the truth. They might hurt, but they respect it at the end of the day. You got to respect it. Maul, just keep your hands up when you get those bars off. A woman will never put her hands up. Because she's going to pop off. A woman will never do that to me. It will never happen.
Starting point is 00:25:16 The high player? It won't. They respect me too much. All right. No, seriously. All jokes aside, we are the Hovengers. We are. Big thanks. All jokes aside, we are the Hovengers. We are. And while we have probably Hovenger'd
Starting point is 00:25:27 while we've probably Hovenger'd for a lot of the episodes this year, today is a special day for us to Hovenger. So, I think it's only right that Rory tell us what he text told this morning and then we all get into
Starting point is 00:25:41 why this man is special to us just for a second. Just for a second. I mean, if he is, I don't know. I can't speak for anybody else. In the event that I would ever do that, let's not shy away that there may have been a scenario where you would text him happy birthday as well. Let's not just put it all
Starting point is 00:25:59 on myself. I may or may not say something like you've inspired my whole crew. Thank you for getting us out the brownstone. You believed when no one believed. Oh, God. You had the foresight. If he regurgitated his speech to the whole text, you better have said
Starting point is 00:26:18 something else special. No, Roy, the only reason I bring this up, trying to joke. I would never tell the world if I did. Maul would not do this because he built this this city on rock and roll that's true yes heir to the throne he it's only me and you who are like actual like fans i'm a huge fan it's a little different with us i'm a huge it's only you and i who would wake up and say you know what man let's get this guy some flowers yeah let's get this guy the flowers he deserves so So I'm only trying to see-
Starting point is 00:26:45 When he's enjoying his birthday with his family. Yeah. And I know me and you, listen, I snuck you in the B-Sides concert. I know we have a, we bond through music. We do. Through Hov. Cocaine 80s first.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Oh, okay. It's true. But there's some music that Rory and I bond over. So I already, all jokes aside, I know Rory and I gave it up on some mushy, sappy shit. I just think mine's hopefully was cooler. Because I took time
Starting point is 00:27:12 on mine. Oh, you wrote a paragraph. No, I took time. I gave a paragraph. You can't text Hov and say, yo, man, it's a little happy birthday, OG. You think he's a little too busy for the paragraph? It's dry. It's just a little dry. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:26 I got into the inspiration you've been for generations. You changed the world and inspired the minds that will continue to do so. Which is true. I got in all of that. You killed me on Pump It Up. I did, but I didn't say that. You never gave Skane the beat back? That's not what I said. I didn't get that. You never gave Skane the beat back? That's not what I said.
Starting point is 00:27:45 I didn't get to know all that. But I'm just saying, I carefully worded this, and I don't normally send a happy birthday text to niggas. But with niggas dying, with niggas getting locked up, I just feel like hip hop is in a different place. And I mean, if I'm going to get all the way mushy, man, I feel connected to this guy. I do.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Okay. I think everyone does to somebody. Nah, not i think everyone does to something nah not like me well sure not like me excuse us sis we can't love home either that's this was funny not like i'm only i'm bringing this up for everyone to share their own story or experience. I'm just saying, much like hieroglyphics back in the day and the ancient writings that was on the wall that the white people couldn't figure out what it was. Like, I still look at rap music that way. So some rappers, when I hear their raps, it connects to me personally in a different way because I feel like I can understand where they were when they said it or why they said it or how they felt.
Starting point is 00:28:47 And it's only really Hov and Drake that that applies to. It's a small box for me. It's only them. But the difference is Hov has kind of seen, he's watched, he's kind of, this is going to sound horrible, don't joke on me, but he's kind of seen me grow up. Yeah. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:29:03 It's true. Absolutely. Yeah, he's seen, like, like we've been down we've been up we beefed you were in charge of my career i was an asshole needed therapy a lot of emotional problems dissed you for nothing like it's been a long it's been a long long road you and cory say let's go to 40 40 you should apologize like apologize. Like, it's been a lot. Yeah. The so what? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:27 It's been a long... I don't think anybody can appreciate this stuff from me, but all those tweets that he put out where he acknowledged me when he shouldn't have, the following, the unfollowing back in the day during beef. Like, I feel different about this man. Judge me if you want. No. It's reasonable. Judge me if you want. No. It's reasonable.
Starting point is 00:29:45 Judge me if you want. It's understandable. It's understandable. So, I mean, yeah, man, this is a big deal for me. Like, when I speak to the older people being, like, inspirations for artists learning how to age, like, we talking about, here comes a corny pun, the blueprint.
Starting point is 00:30:03 You were going to take my corny pun. Without a reasonable doubt. You can use that one. Oh, you need a corny pun. The blueprint. You were going to take my corny pun. Without a reasonable doubt. You can use that one. Oh, you need a new one now. He took that one. He took it. He took it. No, he took it.
Starting point is 00:30:11 Not in my lifetime. Oh, he took it. Whoa. Whoa. Slow it down. Yeah, man. What was I saying? I think you were, you know, flowers. What was I saying? I think you were, you know, flowers.
Starting point is 00:30:28 Flowers. No, Hov being the blueprint, no pun intended. I'm just saying the blueprint, the bar. Not only being, listen, I won't even have conversations with certain niggas who don't have Hov number one. That's just where I'm at with it. Outside of the bars, what he's been able to do in business, what he's been able to do with his wife, what he's been able to do with Dame, apart from Dame, on Def Jam, apart from Def Jam, title, what he does for artists, how he acts or how they act as the rapper union without an official rapper union. Like there's a lot that gets into this whole bag that gets me sentimental on his birthday. And that's a new thing, by the way,
Starting point is 00:31:10 where I'm sentimental on his birthday. Before, I never gave a fuck about December 4th. When he made the song, I was like, what the fuck are we doing here? That's one of my favorite songs. It's a great song. You're getting older, that's why. I think birthdays not mean more when you get older,
Starting point is 00:31:23 but you reflect a bit more when you hit certain parts of your life. For sure. That's why. I think birthdays not mean more when you get older, but you reflect a bit more when you hit certain parts of your life. For sure. It's a little different. I think that's a fact. And I also think with all of these rappers that have died, like how old are you? I'm 30.
Starting point is 00:31:36 How old are you? 37. How old are you? 39. And I'm 40. And this morning I stopped when I thought of my age and you guys' age. And then I thought of Stack's age when he died. Shanks, Juice WRLD, Pop Smoke.
Starting point is 00:31:52 The list goes on and on and on. At 40 and 30 and 39 and 36. Seven. Seven. We here. Right. We here to watch. We here to experience. We here to watch. We here to experience.
Starting point is 00:32:06 We here to learn. We here to tell the story of what the fuck was going on from then, whenever that then starts, to now. I'm on a rant, but as I age, all of this stuff is super important to me. Oh, wow. Happy birthday to Chinks, too. So, yes, I said. When was his birthday? December 4th.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Happy birthday to Chinks. Rest in peace. Yeah. yes i said what was his birthday happy summer 4th happy birthday to chinks rest in peace rest in peace to fred hampton murdered as he laid in his bed with his pregnant fiance by chicago police and the fbi in 1969 like because of the state of the world and because of rory's point me aging and just being a little more in tune. Like, this stuff is important to me. So you fucking right. I sent a mushy text. I did.
Starting point is 00:32:47 Good. No, Hov is the metaphor for, I think, not even just the genre of hip hop, but like when KRS get on his shit of saying like hip hop is not just music. It's literally a lifestyle of the world. Yeah. Hov, I think, is the metaphor for exactly what it is he's shown how it can age he showed how it could be profitable he showed how it shifts not just our culture but the world's culture he showed us how to
Starting point is 00:33:15 monetize that he showed us how to own that he's done it all without I don't think guidance before him on the fly more or less which which i've always felt hip-hop is hip-hop is the best thing in the world that's done everything on the fly like we're doing this as we go and we're gonna do it better right and i've always felt hove is exactly embodies that of hip-hop and he's shown how it can age when they said hip-hop. And he's shown how it can age when they said hip-hop was just a fad. And I'm not saying
Starting point is 00:33:47 Hov was the one that carried to make sure it wasn't a fad, but I just think he's combined everything that this genre is
Starting point is 00:33:56 in one thing. I agree. So, shout out to Hov, happy birthday. He did a deal with Samsung and made them buy a million of his albums.
Starting point is 00:34:10 Innovative. Yeah. Innov yeah innovative he told me that chris cristal didn't like me when i didn't drink cristal thank you i had no idea like he just he just was the the deliverer of information so much so that today i still hear things in the songs that i didn't hear or pick up on yeah today because i'm 40 and much more business oriented it's very different from oh that's what a 4.6 is like no that was me at 26 27 28 oh i had no idea and i don't think it was 26 but whenever i found it out you know what I'm saying and much more than just material items today it's it's just different today man it's different today like I can hear the gems and jewels and what we should be doing and the same way I try I call myself taking information and trying to bring it back to the people I have to salute those that have done it before me and continue to do so like like I went I went to see him to ask for advice on what
Starting point is 00:35:06 we should be doing because i believe him to be able to see things differently there's not too many people i would go and discuss our situation with right and he gave it up to me i felt good about how i how i decide how we decided to move in this yeah be free don't take the money thanks ho right cory cory's with me yeah that was the grammy for me that was the award wait what oh i'm out i'm gone let's get back to work i just appreciate it man i really really really really appreciate it and there's been too many years in my career where i have been too cancerous to acknowledge it and verbalize it so i want that to change today and especially since i don't know who else i could give it up for like this it's not many people yeah he's one of the uh that's it for
Starting point is 00:36:00 me one of the very few he's uh but you know Me personally It's you know I've been able To see a lot of things That never Get pushed into the public And you know See him do a lot of things For a lot of people That he never
Starting point is 00:36:13 Talks about Never mentions So I see The person The real person That he is And um He's truly one of a kind
Starting point is 00:36:20 You know I mean He's just a genuine Real solid person Somebody that's extremely intelligent. He's just somebody that we all should look at as the bar. A lot of these young cats, you see them now, they die and they go to prison. And the reason why I feel some type of way about it and it affects me in a different way is because, you know, if everyone's story ends when they're young, you know, if Jay's story ends when he's 20 and 21, you know, we don't get this. So that's why when we see, you know, a King Von pass away, a Pop Smoke, a lot of these young, a Nipsey, it bothers me because you know what can come out of these situations and these communities
Starting point is 00:37:06 that a lot of us come from. Yeah, we do things at a young age to survive. But then you make it out of that and you can change the world. And I think Jay is a living example of that, of, you know, again, you come from selling drugs
Starting point is 00:37:20 and the projects in Brooklyn to what he is today. That's like, you know, I say it all the time. He has probably the greatest story, American story, that I can think of. Absolutely. And I don't say that just because it's Jay and his family. It's real.
Starting point is 00:37:37 Even if I never met him. No, he does for me, too. Yeah, it's like he has the greatest story. You know what I mean? We're living in the time in the moment but 60 years from now when people go back and they learn who jay-z is and was i believe a lot of them will say the same thing like this dude was you know he was a god really and then i believe that truly i believe he's somebody that just has the uh he has vision he has the ability to see things
Starting point is 00:38:03 and he has the ability to go out and do things when people think it's not possible. Never graduate in high school. Odds stacked against you. And you just proving everybody wrong and doing it your way. And doing it the way you want to do it the entire way.
Starting point is 00:38:18 You know, if Jay doesn't do it the way he does it, we don't see, I don't think we see a lot of the things that we see in the culture today. I don't think we see a quality control without Rockefeller we see in the culture today. I don't think we see a quality control without Rockefeller.
Starting point is 00:38:28 You know what I mean? That's just me. You know, they made it believable that you can do it. You know what I mean? You don't have to have a college degree
Starting point is 00:38:35 and be a super intelligent guy. You just have to believe in yourself and hustle and work hard and, you know, not take no for an answer. And I think that everybody should take that
Starting point is 00:38:44 from Jay if they don't take anything else is never take no for an answer. And I think that everybody should take that from Jay if they don't take anything else. It's never take no for an answer. Believe in yourself. You'll figure it out. And, yeah, and just hustle, man. Grind hard and stay the course, man. And believe in yourself.
Starting point is 00:38:54 Never take no for an answer. But happy birthday, Hov. You know, I love you. I say it whenever I see you, whenever we speak. You know how I feel. And thank you for everything you ever did for me, did for the family, did for friends, just anybody in passing. And salute to you, man. Artists.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Yeah, artists. Not just friends and family, but it's a lot of artists that sponge this shit up from him, man. Yeah, and not just friends, family, artists, people in other parts of the culture. Yeah. Just focus on that. If you've ever had a conversation, a genuine, you know, real conversation with Jay, it's definitely some words that stuck with you and changed your life.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Oh, yeah, for sure. You know what I mean? Even if it was for five minutes, he gives you something that you could walk with forever. Hov, next time you're uptown, man, it's on me. We going up. We going up next time. I'm going to take going up next time i'm gonna take a nap i'm gonna take a nap i'm gonna hit the club it's on me don't even worry about it man oh that's kind of you come on man i'm here yeah i mean what else what else you want me to do oh speaking up
Starting point is 00:39:55 shout out to cash app thank you for the support thank you for enabling us empowering us believing believing believing in us shout out to cash app i'm with all the forward thinking companies i appreciate you thank you thank you thank you with that said where would you gentlemen like to begin today your favorite hove album line that most impacted your life is that where y'all want to go no nigga, nigga. Oh. Okay. At least not right now. Well, I've always felt American Gangster aged really well. Aged like wine. We do need to talk about the current state of hip hop, though.
Starting point is 00:40:35 That's where we're at? Yeah. Oh, we coming in hot? I'm coming in hot. I'm in. Because it's a real thing. Were you talking to the young boys? What happened?
Starting point is 00:40:41 Just talking in general, man. I'm so desensitized because so much happened in the last few days. I think that's the problem. Yeah. I think that we are desensitized. I think that it feels normal to wake up to news of rappers being either killed or under federal indictment. And that's an issue. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:40:59 That's a real issue. I just don't know when these rappers are going going to get it when they're going to uh understand what's happening what's going on but um it's it's something that needs to be talked about it's something that needs to be addressed because there is clearly something going on with the hip-hop culture where you know all these federal indictments keep coming down all these killings keep happening yeah and it's like you know we scroll and we talk about it for a day and then the next day is business as usual everybody forgets about it let's tell people what you're talking about and why that conversation is um relevant relevant today i mean
Starting point is 00:41:35 it's been relevant but even more relevant today uh the first news that broke was casanova right yeah oh wait did i tell people to subscribe? Well, subscribe. Subscribe. I didn't, right? Shout out, Cash App. Swipe subscribe down icon ad here. And hit the bell for what the bell does.
Starting point is 00:41:57 And get you a Cash App. Yeah, download Cash App. And buy our capsule merch line. It's sold out. You can't get the Big Roar t-shirt anymore. Sold out? Damn, I was going to get one too. The fans keep asking why you and Rory are the flyest dudes ever and y'all don't do our merch, but hey!
Starting point is 00:42:14 I've only said 10,000 times that Maul should do our merch. All I say to them in the great words of Lex is ta-da! Back to Casanova and why Maul thinks that hip-hop is being targeted yet again, right? Let's see. Casanova is not charged in the slaying, but faces one count each of conspiracy to commit racketeering, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, and a gun possession charge.
Starting point is 00:42:41 According to the U.S. Attorney's Office of the southern district in new york and manhattan casanova 34 surrendered to the nypd around 11 15 wednesday blah blah he pleaded not guilty to the charges and i'm getting this from daily news by the way i pleaded not guilty to the charges thursday and is in custody while a bail proposal was being prepared and that's what we got accused of the yeah that's what we got there uh the report came out said that he was on the run i always think it's funny when that report comes out on the internet but i understand it um and he turned himself in yeah that's all we got and that's the information that we have on that but i do understand your. I saw a lot of that going around. Yeah, I mean, but it's, you know, I feel like, you know, entertainers and artists, they make it easy for shit like this to happen.
Starting point is 00:43:35 You know what I mean? Like, you can't have one foot. Well, Kaz says he's innocent, by the way. No, I'm not speaking directly to his situation. I'm just saying in general, you can't have one foot in and one foot out of the game. If you're an artist, entertainer, I know the situation that a lot of us come from, coming up in the streets, in the hood, we got to do what we got to do to eat. But when you find your strength in artistry And you now are a business
Starting point is 00:44:05 And people are invested in you financially You gotta leave those things alone You can't have people around you That's involved in that Because all of that falls on you You know what I mean And they're gonna find a way To wrap you up in that bullshit
Starting point is 00:44:16 They're gonna find a way to You know Put your name in the middle of it And it's just not worth it It's really not worth it And it's clear as day All these phones These cameras And we've seen this story Over and over again Where rappers get arrested And it's just not worth it. It's really not worth it. And it's clear as day. All these phones, these cameras.
Starting point is 00:44:25 And we've seen this story over and over again where rappers get arrested. And then, you know, years later, more rappers get arrested. But you think this is just happening because dudes are street dudes? Or because dudes don't fully commit to music when the opportunity presents itself? Like, why do you think? I think it's affiliations.... Or it's affiliations. I think, yeah, it's affiliations. It's, you know, you have friends from these, you know,
Starting point is 00:44:51 these neighborhoods and the blocks you grew up on and the communities. And, you know, if you make it as an artist or an athlete or whatever, you don't want to leave certain people behind. You still hang out with certain people. But it's important that, you know, you talk to these people like,
Starting point is 00:45:03 look, if y'all love me and y'all fuck me the way y'all say y'all do we can't be involved with none of this shit if they're yeah but we got to find another way i'm gonna listen if there were one of the excuse me if there were one of the street rappers that i would have assumed to know all of this or not even assume i would have thought to know all of this or not even assume i would have thought to know all of this it would be casanova probably because we've spoken and he said to me uh both before his deal and after he got his deal that he very clearly understood that this was his shot right and he was he was very open and adamant about not wanting to blow that by behaving like his record says or being quick-tempered or being in the street. He was clear, crystal clear on that.
Starting point is 00:45:57 So it's just like I came in and said when Benny got shot, it's like, damn, man. Like some of these niggas, we just assumed them to know already. So, I mean, what happens when it happens anyway? Like, I can't just say that it's because of affiliations and where niggas is from and so forth and so on. Like, I don't know how any of the rappers are getting paid right now. I thought that I read that somewhere,
Starting point is 00:46:19 and maybe I'm wrong, that some of these charges have been being worked on for like a decade or something like that. Yeah, a lot of these charges are going back nine, ten years. Which would be before he was even active musically. I don't know that to be true, but that sounds like it makes sense. I don't know the feds to come snoop around for four months.
Starting point is 00:46:37 No, of course not. This is a long, ongoing investigation that the feds have been doing. So i'm just saying it's hard to say yo man once you get some shit moving leave that shit alone if the shit that they're bringing up is from before you got shit moving and i understand i want to talk to the rappers that are actively committing fraud and scams because money is tight and money is low and the whole music industry is damn near closed the record labels are closed, but the A&Rs are on Chatty House
Starting point is 00:47:07 every day acting like they got jobs still. Like, shit is fucked up for people out here. Yeah. And the different arenas that that affects, like, and God forbid,
Starting point is 00:47:20 this probably won't be the last of this style case. Well, shit, a few days later, the G Herbo shit happened. Right, right. But the feds came and swooped him, said he's been buying puppies and jets and trips and villas and all types of shit on fraud. G Herbo also turned himself in. G Herbo, who was named this week to Forbes 30 under 30, which we'll get to later.
Starting point is 00:47:41 Forbes 30 under 30, which we'll get to later. Antonio Strong, a Chicago music promoter and manager and several associates were charged in federal court in Massachusetts with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and identity theft. Boy, that used to be my bag, allegedly. So I understand. I get it. Strong, whom a judge called the ringleader of the one point five million dollar fraud scheme, also faces a wire fraud charge. I'm assuming that he's going to plead not guilty. He turned himself in, and we'll see where both of these cases land,
Starting point is 00:48:13 land these gentlemen. But it doesn't feel good to read, and I empathize with my brothers and my peers. I do. Hell yeah. I don't have any information as to whether they did it or not, but I know shit is fucked up out here, and this probably won't be the last. It is fucked up you know i mean but again you know you can't
Starting point is 00:48:35 you can't put yourself in in the position to lose it all you know i mean and i understand like a lot of dudes just trying to find different ways to make money they hustling well how do you do it that's just our nature but how do you do it you know how do you do it i can't tell somebody i gotta be i gotta try to be solution based like i can't fret over all the wrong that's happening without trying to come up with some way to result how do you do it i see niggas listen we come here and joke sometimes but i see niggas making their way to the little pockets that's open where there's people and there's shows and there's yeah we have we got to do something yeah no i i agree with that but but putting yourself in the middle of a federal investigation and doing shit like that
Starting point is 00:49:11 that's gonna have you sitting in jail for years is that's definitely not to go to and niggas don't know the feds is looking at them well i think cat cass's case is much different to what you're saying yeah because corona has been happened for what eight months this seems like something that's been going on for quite some time but i do understand that money is low for everybody so if you're if you're doing wire fraud and you're doing identity theft and like and shit like that please believe the feds will catch it they will it's only a matter of time they're gonna catch it tough crime to get away with yeah like they're gonna catch it're going to catch it. It's way too much paper trail. It's way too much shit
Starting point is 00:49:45 just lying around that y'all not going to miss it. Y'all not going to cover every corner. Like, they're going to catch it. And it's only a matter of time before they come knocking. And when they do,
Starting point is 00:49:54 we all know that the feds, when they come get you, they already have the case solved. It's over with. So now it's just a game of cooperation or go sit down for 10 years. And nobody wants to do that.
Starting point is 00:50:05 Right. Either one. It's just that they seem to be targeting the hip-hop culture is all I'm saying. That's been the case for a long time.
Starting point is 00:50:15 The hip-hop police. Cops have always, outside of who they target as is, rappers, that's like a trophy for them. Because we make it easy. Everybody's posting everything.
Starting point is 00:50:26 Everybody's, you know, recording everything now and posting it on social media. Yeah. They don't even have to leave the offices anymore. They can just sit down and follow me on social media and they know exactly what's going on. Yeah. Like, you know what I mean? You can't fool the system. You can't trick the system.
Starting point is 00:50:40 You can't. It works for a couple years, but then they come knocking And it's like All for what It's all over with And it's just unfortunate Because a lot of these dudes Have real talent And they have a real opportunity And they have families
Starting point is 00:50:50 And kids And parents Exactly And people that care about them Like Boy it was difficult For me to For me to read
Starting point is 00:50:58 Jazzy's Swaggy Jazzy's Post of saying goodbye Or Or Cass turning himself in, liking her, saying she's going to hold it down. Man, I empathize. I empathize.
Starting point is 00:51:10 It's rough, man. It's rough. And I don't have the answers. I don't know. But I do know that the shit that we've been doing, it's not working. We got to find a different way to create a steady income. The world is fucked up right now.
Starting point is 00:51:22 We know that. There's no shows. A lot of these rappers depend on these shows. You know, it's hard to put out music because you're like, well, damn, we're not going to be able
Starting point is 00:51:29 to perform this. Right. So I understand it, but, you know, you don't want to sit in prison. Also think it's important to note while we're on this that Young M.A.
Starting point is 00:51:38 was also arrested for reckless driving. Oh, was she? Yeah. I didn't see that. Something like that. That's unfortunate. Yes. Oh, I was going to bring up see that. Something like that. That's unfortunate. Yes.
Starting point is 00:51:46 Oh, I was going to bring up Young M.A. being on Clubhouse and it being over for you trying to bag chicks now, but I didn't know this happened. Young M.A. was different on my list. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:55 Well, this is... She's not facing any serious charges, I hope. No. Okay. She'll be fine. Any music came out?
Starting point is 00:52:03 I saw Raheem dropped. Yeah, my guy Raheem. Shout out Raheem in front of out? I saw Raheem dropped Yeah my guy Raheem Shout out Raheem In front of the show Love Raheem I didn't see anything else Oh really? Droog
Starting point is 00:52:11 Your old Droog Okay Both dope projects Yeah nah Droog shit is really dope I like the Droog album a lot Joe you listen to Raheem album at all? Or just saw that drop?
Starting point is 00:52:23 A little bit No a little bit I bought it I bought it Play played a little bit this morning, and then got on my bullshit, but no, I didn't finish it. Yeah, I like the EP a lot. Blast. Blast put out his
Starting point is 00:52:33 Deluxe. Deluxe. These Deluxe guys. I didn't get it, so this is new to me. Yeah, no, they're deluxing us. They're deluxing us away here. Rico Nasty put out an album, or EP. What is it? No, it's an album.
Starting point is 00:52:47 Last few Fridays for me have been a bit underwhelming. Not last Friday was crazy, but this Friday, there's some good underground stuff, but not as much mainstream. Melly and Black put out a record? Yeah. I didn't hear it. How was it?
Starting point is 00:53:01 You heard it? No, I didn't hear it. No, you heard it. I did hear it. I did hear it I did hear it Park was playing it Yeah Joe actually thought Droog was singing now
Starting point is 00:53:08 Because we went right From the Droog album We went from the Droog From the Droog album Right to this To her singing about Her new band with Big Dick or something
Starting point is 00:53:15 I was like Is Droog trying to catch one? He's showing his artistry Yeah What the fuck He's trying to Like from her point of view He's trying to take
Starting point is 00:53:24 The game somewhere. You didn't see the sequencing in the album where this would fit? On a Droog album? As the outro? I still want to know what's going on with Melly
Starting point is 00:53:35 in regards to whatever that situation was with her on Tory's label. I still want to know. I'm curious too. All the shit I really want to know from hip hop, they suppress and hide it from me. I'm curious too. She's super dope. All the shit I really want to know from hip hop they suppress
Starting point is 00:53:45 and hide it from me. I can see why in this particular case. Is it because I'm media? That probably is part of it. Oh, I can keep a secret. I'm sure you could probably hit up Melly
Starting point is 00:53:57 and figure out what's going on. This is why we needed Maul's phone. If I hit Melly it's not going to be to say hey, you and Tory's label situation what was happening? What's happening with that so why would you
Starting point is 00:54:07 hit her to check on her well-being that's what I wanted to know you gotta check on it well being super important yeah okay no Joyce Rice put out a first single so so sick which is really dope that record is really really good I like Joyce yeah that's probably one of my favorite records of the release days. Oh, Currency put out a compilation. Currency's working, man. Didn't he just put one out last Friday?
Starting point is 00:54:33 Yeah, this is with all his crew. Okay. It took me a while to find it. Man, get me to the first quarter releases. I'm done with all this filler and fluff. This is filler and fluff? They're filler and fluffing me to death. Well, yeah. This is, you know, again. I'm waiting with all this filler and fluff. This is filler and fluff? They're filler and fluffing me to death. Well, yeah. This is, you know, again... I'm waiting for the blockbusters.
Starting point is 00:54:49 I'm waiting for the jammy jams. You know who I'm waiting for. The lineup. The Avengers. The Transformers. I'm waiting. It's all going to be on HBO, so don't worry about it. Didn't Cole announce yesterday or two days ago that he was putting something out today? Did he? Or did you find another fake Jake Cole page? Yeah, you know what Rory does here.
Starting point is 00:55:05 No, it was real. How about confirm things before you come on this podcast? No, I'm telling you, I went to his page because I thought it was a fake page. You're the J. Cole insider. That is true. Two days ago on J. Cole's Twitter, not a made up one,
Starting point is 00:55:19 Ebony and Ivory available Friday. Oh, no, the sneakers dropped. Oh. Oh, shout out to the sneakers, no. The sneakers dropped. Oh. That's all. Oh, shout out to the sneakers, man. I was like, oh, we getting the Ebony and Ivory pack. Nah. Yeah, no. It's just the sneakers.
Starting point is 00:55:36 Just sneakers. My bad. And they did drop. Shout out to Cole's sneakers. Yeah. Some music would be nice, too. Yeah, it would. But that's that first quarter that I think Joe was talking about. Somebody had DM'd me And said A Drake What's up you want this pussy
Starting point is 00:55:48 You didn't get that DM Nah I didn't get that DM You did Nah I didn't You had to respect that You can't publicly say it But you did Nah I never got a DM like that
Starting point is 00:55:58 Yeah what's up You want this throw baby I never got that DM Yes you did I would respond to it No we know Who's the throw know don't matter to throw right no it's throw it's the throat is got a throat yeah throat is
Starting point is 00:56:13 important she's got a throat yeah throat is important but now they said uh Drake was supposed to put on a little fire pack or something and then I heard some more Drake has an album coming but yeah now he said before the album to warm it up it was gonna be like a little fire pack that he dropped that's what they said and there's some dude and London was on IG live and some Drake records had once London always get it first I have every time every time and he was playing a bunch of Drake records but I didn't hear it I think it's because things have to be submitted over there before over here no I understand that when it leaks like the's because things have to be submitted over there before over here I understand that
Starting point is 00:56:45 when it leaks like the two days before cause yeah they do get it earlier but I'm talking about like six months the whole album be playing in a London club
Starting point is 00:56:52 and you're like what the fuck put some respect on Tim Westwood's name yeah you're right shout out to Tim Westwood you know what I mean act like you don't know
Starting point is 00:57:02 who Simtex be I do I do know who Simtex be. I do. I do know who Simtex be. Fuck you, I can surprise you about that. Duh. Listen, we are going to talk about Tiana Taylor threatening us with retirement,
Starting point is 00:57:13 because that makes me sad. Cut it out, T. But I've been hearing rumblings. I've been hearing, I've been, the talk has been getting louder surrounding Rihanna, and how there are some fans that think because anti
Starting point is 00:57:26 was one of the greatest albums that that should be her send-off rihanna that's getting it's getting louder it's getting louder it is it's crazy it shouldn't yeah there are more and more people attempting to make sense of it that doesn't make sense that's just what people sorry people try to make sense of the shit that they come up with. But Rihanna is not retiring. Rihanna is just busy being a fucking empire and a businesswoman at the moment. Yeah. Yeah, but they're saying she should retire. Hell no.
Starting point is 00:57:54 Don't leave while you hot. That's how Mace grew up. I'm not going to say that line to Mace. It's just a fact, though. I love Mace, but it's just a fact. It would make no sense but I feel like I've heard y'all say before
Starting point is 00:58:08 that you should leave on a high not like that but that is a high leaving on a high and leaving on this type of high but what else
Starting point is 00:58:16 is there for her to do I'm not alright there's the since I have to play devil's advocate now there's the leaving the way John Elway left where it's like
Starting point is 00:58:23 alright you won a Super Bowl I don't know about how colonizers left. Colonizers. You tell me. He colonized Denver? The Broncos? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:58:34 How did John Elway leave? He's still there. He's still there. He is. There's a difference of maybe ending your career a year or two early when you win the Super Bowl, when you're already old and towards the end of your career.
Starting point is 00:58:46 Rihanna is not towards the end of her career. No. Not at all. Rihanna's in shape. Yes. You should continue to make music.
Starting point is 00:58:52 Rory, how many more Rihanna albums do you think you're getting in your lifetime? Several. Yeah. Thank you. Now can you use your brain power and give me a number
Starting point is 00:59:00 so we can really have the talk? Four or five. Maybe more. Maybe more. I agree with that i don't know the only thing i would say is the makeup part i would have said ten had fenty not dropped but once that shit is like a little bit more on autopilot the the the bras and the makeup and all that shit she's gonna go back to music yeah yeah i think rihanna likes making music yeah okay and then the music industry since she's become artists has changed
Starting point is 00:59:26 like the way you release it the way people can stream well she's been active since all that all those things happen no but i'm saying when she came in it was it just the game has changed a lot the music industry has changed so it's like now it's she doesn't really have to be like she can put put it out she can put out five records and they just be that you know i mean people would be fine with that they'll stream the shit out of that she can perform it she can make a dope visual for you out of five pack i'm saying she can i mean she's put out lucy's before yeah it's no rules like there's no more rules in this shit joe like you don't have to see i put out lucy's before yeah the uh was it bitch better have my money i think was not on the album one of
Starting point is 01:00:03 those big records yeah it was that one. Yeah. It was that one. It's just no rules. I like that song, too. It was a huge song. The song was great. It's a monster Lucy.
Starting point is 01:00:11 Okay, so when you're asking that question, you seem, I don't know if you're just playing devil's advocate or really believe that we won't be getting five plus Rihanna albums for the rest of our lives. I can't believe that you think we're getting five more Rihanna albums. I don't think that at all.
Starting point is 01:00:24 I don't think it'll be anytime soon. And I think that every female artist has to give us their album once they reach a certain point in their life. Like Motherhood. It's just different content now. They create different content. Beyonce did it. All the great female artists have done it. Tiana just had a baby and we're
Starting point is 01:00:46 about to talk about her retirement. But she put out a fire album. And she's retiring. That's exactly what I just brought up about Rihanna. She put out two albums since she had the baby, didn't she? Yes. I think she did. The Kanye album won this year. I don't know. I don't think we're getting five albums from Rihanna.
Starting point is 01:01:02 And I don't think that she should not put out music anymore because Anti was great. Tiana Taylor Taylor I just wanted to point out that the talk was getting louder Tiana Taylor when I walked in here apparently she's retiring and I had no idea and she said this on Instagram wow who did that y'all did that thank you I ain't gonna front in times of feeling super underappreciated as an artist receiving little to no real push from the machine Constantly getting the shorter end of the stick being overlooked. I mean the list goes on and on lol I'm retiring this chapter of my story with the comfort that I can depart with peace of mind seeing that all the hard work and Passion put in was indeed loved and supported somewhere in the world
Starting point is 01:01:39 To all my supporters from day one and all my new ones I love you and I thank you for everything and don't worry Y'all know all the hustlers have an understanding that when one door closes, another will open. Either that or I'm picking the locks, Petunia. So what's up? She's got to have a Def Jam gig lined up. I mean, if Def Jam was smart, but I don't know if Tiana's taking a Def Jam gig. She doesn't seem to really like the music industry bullshit, so I don't know if I could's taking a Def Jam gig. She doesn't seem to really like the music industry bullshit,
Starting point is 01:02:05 so I don't know if I could see her getting a label job. She would body a creative director position there. For sure. I don't know if she's taking that. Do y'all believe this retirement? I don't have enough money for it, no. Do y'all believe this? First of all, Maul says no parks?
Starting point is 01:02:16 No. I don't. Rory, what say you? I don't, only because I don't want Tiana just to stop making music. And I think she'll get the book. She's such a creative. I think she may not feel like she wants to make music right now, but I think that bug
Starting point is 01:02:27 will come back. You niggas answer every question selfishly. Why? Y'all never seem to attempt to put yourself in that person's shoes. That's not what I'm doing right here at all. I'm saying that she's a super creative person,
Starting point is 01:02:43 and I think creative people move on to other creative things but still get that same bug from what they used to love. Listen, it's just this simple. Name an artist that has announced
Starting point is 01:02:51 a retirement and stayed retired. Joe. You just said I don't care what I said. I'm telling you an artist that said he retired and stayed retired.
Starting point is 01:02:59 You are not retired. Cut it out. But I stayed retired. No, you have not. How many bars have you written in the past five years? Fucking no. A lot.
Starting point is 01:03:07 Not a lot. I feel like y'all just look for something to debunk the whole rappers can retire theory. No, I just don't think. There's a lot of evidence that they don't. I don't. They haven't. And by the way, I think they can. They haven't, but they can.
Starting point is 01:03:18 I just think creative people, when they love a certain type of art, continue to do it i retired after like 17 projects retiring after two albums it's not a real thing when one of them was 17 minutes it's not a real thing like she may be you know stepping away from recording and focusing on other adventures and other things that she wants to do but when when you're an artist, you're always going to create. Yeah. You're always going to create art. You're always going to, you know. I can 100% understand
Starting point is 01:03:50 why she feels like she wants to retire. Her last album, she didn't even hear it until it came out. And this one, maybe was underappreciated by... It was really good.
Starting point is 01:03:58 It was a really good album. And it was probably underappreciated by the Grammys and so on and so forth. So I completely understand why she might be like, man, fuck this. It was a real good album.
Starting point is 01:04:05 Get Def Jam on the line. Call them. I know what that is that I hear in her voice. I do. Yeah, it's not retirement. It's a... Fuck this shit. Detachment and independence.
Starting point is 01:04:17 I sound like all love lost. The R&B version. You uninspired by the bullshit that has nothing to do with creative. Yeah. Like, that's it. I didn't even piece together the correlation between the streams that she posted and the message. And she just said it. Like, wow.
Starting point is 01:04:37 See, I don't know how that feels because I never streamed. Like, I sold a couple records, but they jerked me. You're not supposed to get paid on your record. So this is different 162 million streams all of these fans 15 million listeners yeah
Starting point is 01:04:50 8.4 million hours of listening yeah I think all that says to T is from what she's saying is she just wants to be independent yeah
Starting point is 01:05:00 I don't think she wants some people I think should be absolutely and she's one of them yeah absolutely yeah she's definitely one of the I think should be absolutely and she's one of them yeah absolutely yeah she's definitely one of the artists that should be
Starting point is 01:05:06 so again retire no get away from the label structure and all of that and be independent fuck that shit I think that's what this is
Starting point is 01:05:15 but either way she's a talented artist she's amazing she's amazing you know she's one of these people that we need in our culture
Starting point is 01:05:23 she's an inspiration for a lot of young girls and a lot of young people that we need in our culture she's a inspiration for a lot of young girls and a lot of young women so we need her the other part of retiring artists that we didn't get into because this has nothing to do with tiana i can see artists trying to retire themselves before they're retired like let me end this before the fans end it or before the industry ends it let me go out on my terms like I'd like to end this thing not it just run its course because I'm no longer going to be relevant or cared for at all like I'm going to do it on my terms
Starting point is 01:05:51 have we seen that though seen what seen someone retire because they feel like the I'm going to fight every one of you what stop doing that what yeah what the fuck do I have to do in here your last stop intercepting stop intercepting flowers or stop avoiding flowers i got a flower somewhere to
Starting point is 01:06:13 somewhere to be had in this take it don't have to be a dozen roses the singular rose will do just fine outside the club just piss me i'll be in front. Has there ever been anyone that took it on their own and just said, you know what? I can't think of who. I'm going out on my own name. I think it was a guy. He ripped Jersey. I'm not sure. I feel like there was someone.
Starting point is 01:06:37 Oh, Redman. Yo, I'm sick of y'all. That's hilarious. But I do understand. I do understand. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Is this do understand. I do understand. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Is this breaking news?
Starting point is 01:06:48 Uh-oh. Uh-oh. I think it is. Breaking news. Breaking news. Our next versus is in. I don't know where I stand. I don't know, you guys.
Starting point is 01:07:02 Ashanti versus Keisha Cole. Yes, sir. It's actually a good battle. It is a good battle. Yeah, I'm. Ashanti versus Keisha Cole. Yes, sir. It's actually a good battle. It is a good battle. Yeah, I'm not mad at this one at all. Ashanti got bigger, big records. Keisha got some shit, man. She does.
Starting point is 01:07:14 She does. She probably got better album records. Ashanti about to have a long night. Nah, Ashanti can keep up. Y'all laughed me out the room when I said it months ago. There's some of y'all that think that I just cling on to predictions reaching for shit, but if Savon did his job, we would have this
Starting point is 01:07:30 stuff. I said Keisha Cole is a problem and all I heard was ka-ka-ka-ka-ka. No one laughed at you by saying Keisha Cole makes good music. You might have had a you might have named a battle. No, I said Keisha...
Starting point is 01:07:46 I did not name a bunch of battles. You might have said versus somebody. Yeah, we probably would have laughed at the... I said Keisha Cole and Ashanti. And we laughed that out the room? Yes. Find it. I know.
Starting point is 01:07:56 You never do. Do your job, bitch. How about that? Please find that. You don't have to remember shit. Listen back. Audio recordings. But anyway, here we go.
Starting point is 01:08:03 Please find it. It doesn't matter. Y'all be wrong all the time. here we go. Please find it. It doesn't matter. Y'all be wrong all the time. Here we go. What do you think of this? Let's hear it now. It's here. I'm sticking with what I said originally.
Starting point is 01:08:16 Long day for Ashanti, even though she has bigger records. She has features. Rain On Me is a point. What is that? Rain On Me is a point. I don't care what Keith's called. Ashanti has a couple more points than just Rain On Me. Yeah? Rain on me is a point. I don't care what he's called. Shanti has a couple more points. Yeah, she got a lot of points. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:08:29 What's the other ones? Baby. I'm real. J-Lo. Ja Rule. Yeah. I don't think there's a guarantee point. I don't know. And what's baby? You want me to sing it? Kind of, yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:47 Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby. Foolish. Brandy. Always on time. Ashanti. What do you think about Brandy? You can pull it up. You have it.
Starting point is 01:08:56 What's Love with Fat Joe? You'll know what's in there. She has joints. She has a lot of joints. You got Baby in your Serato. I think you have Ashanti, especially features-wise, a little fucked up. Rock with you? I just think she's going to have Like, hit. I think you have Ashanti, especially features-wise, a little fucked up. Rock with you? I just think she's going to have a long day.
Starting point is 01:09:08 I'm very familiar with Keisha Cole. Though, like, to say someone's going to have a long day is kind of implying that they may get washed. Yeah. No, no, no, no, no. Okay, that's not what I'm saying. I think this is going to be a great battle. That's not what I'm saying. Win or lose for Ashanti, a long day is ahead.
Starting point is 01:09:23 That's what it means. Oh, yeah. She's dealing with an opponent that has... This is not going to be Brandy Monica. This is a good matchup. This is a good matchup. That was a good matchup, too. Yeah, I was going to say Brandy Monica was like a... The only low part was who shot
Starting point is 01:09:35 you. Yeah, I'm picking Keisha Cole in this. Okay. I'm not mad at that. I'm standing firmly. Rory's trying to bully me out of my pick. I'm not mad at that. Rory's trying to bully me out of my pick. I'm not mad at that. Rory's trying to bully me out of my pick. Ashanti got joints.
Starting point is 01:09:50 All right, we'll play one then. An Ashanti joint? Yeah, play one. Or just sing it. Actually, just sing it. Hit it, Rory. Let's stick with the JVP sings Ashanti's hits. Always there when you call.
Starting point is 01:10:06 But I'm always on time. And I gave you my all. That's an alto, actually. Now baby, be mine. The voice of an angel, Rory. Can you put some tune on that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. No problem.
Starting point is 01:10:19 I'm not gonna. This is a tough record. Yo, don't force me to get into my Keisha Cole set. I got YouTubers trying to listen. YouTubers. I am bopping him over the head with Keisha Cole right now. Yeah. Okay. I like the part. Hold up. Hold up.
Starting point is 01:10:50 Nah. No, talk right now, because you're about to get to the bridge, and then you're going to walk your white ass to the Mazda. I want to talk about Keisha Cole versus Shanti. I want to talk about me singing a Shanti versus Joe singing Keisha Cole. I think I won that round. I just won that round. You did with that one. It's one on me. I didn't pull up a song to match my tenor.
Starting point is 01:11:07 I can't sing this key. Hey. It's that shit, though. Listen, man. What a shot she's going to do when it's come on. She better play a big boy. That's all I'm saying. Gotta be a big boy.
Starting point is 01:11:20 Don't play around with her. Oh, Keisha Cole going to dig in her Missy bag. It's going to be a big boy. Don't play around with her. Oh, Keisha Cole going to dig in her Missy bag. It's going to be a long day. Oh. Listen, man. Oh, come on, man. Come on, man. Keisha Cole got records.
Starting point is 01:11:37 And if any of you have ever attempted to speak to all the women that you've hurt from your past, like way after you hurt them. They relate to Keisha. They all brung up, I should have cheated, Keisha Cole. Every last one of them. Every last one of them. So I don't know if the chicks, I think they might feel an emotional connection to some of them, that nigga ain't shit records. Sure.
Starting point is 01:11:56 Ashanti running around looking happy, looking beautiful. She's in the Joyner Lucas vid. She's on Weight Watchers now. Don't say Keisha Cole is not running around here looking good. I don't know. Wait, what? They both look great. Don't say that.
Starting point is 01:12:10 Keisha's not also happy and looks good. I didn't say that. But you said. Never mind. I said Ashanti's running around happy looking good. I'm just letting you know the DM you're going to get. I'm trying to clean it up early. I didn't say nothing about Keisha Cole.
Starting point is 01:12:23 Listen, man. Ashanti looks great. Look, I know. That's a point. It ain't a pictures versus. That's a point right man. Ashanti looks great. Look, I know. That's a point. It ain't a pictures versus. That's a point. That's a point. It ain't a pictures versus.
Starting point is 01:12:30 It might be. I hear what y'all talking about. That's a point, though. Like, dude, that blue? What the fuck? What record comes on after that? That's a point. That little bathtub pic is kind of nice.
Starting point is 01:12:38 That's a point. Yeah, yeah, that's a point. Yeah. IG is a point. I don't have the other. Hey, go back to Ashanti's list, because this list looks nuts. I don't know if foolish is a point I don't have the other go back to Ashanti's list because this list looks nuts I don't know if foolish is a guaranteed point
Starting point is 01:12:49 but that would be the closest one besides rain on me I'm real I'm not as big on that as y'all are especially in the versus Rock with you
Starting point is 01:12:59 I don't know if that goes against I should have cheated but rock with you is a point she gonna get in there and play all the Ja Rule joints. And Fat Joe Records. Southside with Lloyd is a point. Keisha Cole, baby, we got two weeks to do some features.
Starting point is 01:13:14 Hey, you better call Jermaine Dupri, Puff Dre, Kool and Dre, Manny Fresh. Oh, man. Point is a point. Sorry. No way. What? This is not a point. Oh, man. Point is a point. Sorry. No way. What? This is not a point. No way.
Starting point is 01:13:28 No way is this a guaranteed point. Where is this not a point? On Versus. This is not a guaranteed point. I'll bet you whatever you want to bet that this is a point. I take the bet. I don't think this is a guaranteed point. And I also think I'm savvier than you, so I'm taking it.
Starting point is 01:13:42 All of you. Okay, so let's do this. I don't think that's a guaranteed point. What does Keisha play after that? Let's say that Ashanti just played that record. And I don't think that's late in Ashanti's catalog. Like, I think she might play that a little early. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:53 Whenever she plays it, I don't think it's a guaranteed point. And I'm not sure what Keisha would play there. Okay, do you think this is... Maybe she got a dig in her... One of them Alicia Keys records beats that. Is this a point No This is a loss
Starting point is 01:14:17 You are buggin I Have no idea what y'all are talking about I have no idea what y'all are talking about. I can't believe you don't think the Fat Joe record is good. This is an L, too, right here, right? Quick L. Shit. Quick L on this shit. On Memorabond.
Starting point is 01:14:29 This might be two points. This might be two. Yeah, I know. I know. Oh, come on. So she's going to play a hook? Yeah. Have you seen the verses yet?
Starting point is 01:14:40 I don't know if you're familiar with this platform, Joe. Y'all niggas don't get the fuck out of my face. That's the point. I don't think so. Okay. I don't think if you're familiar with this platform, John. Y'all niggas don't get the fuck out of my face. That's the point. I don't think so. Okay. I don't think so. All right. She got junk.
Starting point is 01:14:50 She got records. Hey, I'm in the minority. I don't think this is a guarantee point either. You know what the other guarantee point is? Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. That one. Keisha Go? No, Ashanti.
Starting point is 01:15:08 Boy, I can't wait to get next to you. Women like that a lot. Only you. Women like that a lot. That's a joke. If she's doing her Ja Rule bag, always on time is a point. She's got another one that's a guarantee. She's got another one.
Starting point is 01:15:22 She's got another one that I think is a guaranteed point. So listen, my opinion, because I think y'all looking at me like I'm stupid right now. I give Ashanti like five guaranteed points. Okay. Facts. Guaranteed points. I don't give Keisha maybe one guaranteed point. Maybe one.
Starting point is 01:15:40 But over the course of the 20. I get it. I'm with you. I said that from the rip. Keisha Cole probably has better album cuts. Yeah, yeah. Oh, without question, has better album cuts.
Starting point is 01:15:50 Ashanti's got the smashes. When does Ashanti's weaker 10 play? First or second? First. You play that first. We would assume, right? Because some of these, they'd be switching it up.
Starting point is 01:16:01 Nah, nah. She has a lot of hook fillers that could kill that first 10 where she could really play her shit on the last one. Because some of them Ja Rule records, she don't have 90 seconds of her. I mean, she has all the hook. That's going to sound away if you just play the hook you're on and the four-bar bridge, and now you have to cut it off. She has to let some of the verse rock, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:23 What did Payne do when he was playing his hooks? Payne has long bridges on slower joints. That was also at the point... He has a whole verse on joints. That was also at the point when you could play full records. His hooks are way longer than...
Starting point is 01:16:33 That was before Instagram started hating. Okay. And you could play fuller songs. Yeah, yeah, yeah. More of the song. Do we respect it if she plays this because it wasn't really the version we rocked with?
Starting point is 01:16:43 She will play this, but, and she's going to play her version of the J-Lo joint. Nah, she should just play the I'm Real record. Turn this off for a minute. Because her vocals
Starting point is 01:16:53 are on the head. Yeah, don't back up. I think y'all getting Keisha fucked up, man. I'm not getting Keisha fucked up. I mean,
Starting point is 01:16:58 you're just getting a chance at something. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Huh? That's what I'm saying, man. I don't think this is just... We agree. She has a good album cut.
Starting point is 01:17:10 You're the only one that's saying it's going to be Lopsiders. We're saying the opposite. I don't know. I think Ashanti might sleep on Keisha. I know one thing. This is going to be a lot of ladies. Get out. Get out. I don't love you.
Starting point is 01:17:29 Keisha. I don't love you. Hey, I have every Keisha Cole album, and there's a lot of this. The track, by the way. No, I'm good. Hey. I don't love you. Keisha.
Starting point is 01:17:42 No, I don't love you. These ain't even my songs that I like like These is just the ones that work There's this girl I know So deep in love Yeah, I don't wanna hear all that shit Rory is talking about Man, he making me mad, honestly Honestly, he making me mad
Starting point is 01:17:56 I don't wanna hear that old school shit no more There's a point, man I don't care who you Against this point New Keisha. That's Missy voice, man. Hey. Hey.
Starting point is 01:18:09 Hey. Missy wrote this and Keisha sung it. They didn't give it to somebody. Hey, they kept this hit for themselves. Shanti was like a little girl in high themselves. Hey, listen, man. I'm just telling you what happened, man. I'm talking shit, man. But man, when is that?
Starting point is 01:18:35 When is this battle? December 12th. Oh, it's coming up. Wait, whoa. Hold up. Next Friday? Yeah. No, next Saturday.
Starting point is 01:18:43 Next Saturday, sorry. That's shortly oh thank god yeah I hate when they've announced these and it's like a month later yeah I don't like that either oh great
Starting point is 01:18:52 I'm not mad what day is what day is that for Saturday hey oh we gotta turn it up then for this this is gonna be
Starting point is 01:19:01 this is gonna be one of those I might need I gotta be surrounded by the Jezebels when this drop I gotta have Jezebels when this drops. I got to have them around me when this come out, huh? I don't know if the new Jezebels might not be too much into this.
Starting point is 01:19:12 The mid-range. What new Jezebels? The mid-range. The new Jezebels that are flocking around. You need like 20, 28 to 30. Yeah, you need 20, 10 Jezebels for this. Maybe like a 1994 cap. No, you can bring the young Joints through and school them.
Starting point is 01:19:25 Nah, because they just keep asking, oh, what is this? Who sings this? That's like the girl playing the record sings this. Listen, check this out. In 05 when this dropped right here, oh my God. 05? I was in sixth grade.
Starting point is 01:19:38 I was like seven. Listen, Amazora used to go crazy when this one. And 2 used to be on tilt when this came on yeah this is exciting man this is exciting I'm with this love to both of these ladies by the way
Starting point is 01:19:53 absolutely yeah for sure yeah but the last time I saw Ashanti she stepped on me she thought I had smoke and I don't about what
Starting point is 01:19:59 I don't know I don't remember the things I'd be saying but I've never had smoke you diss Nelly no oh okay why you spreading a business I don't know. I don't remember the things I'd be saying, but I've never had smoke. Disnelly? No. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:20:09 Why you spreading your business? I think she would look out for her loved ones. I'm excited about this. Me too. Is this the battle he was talking about that's going to bring New York back? No. Listen, I don't know. I hope not.
Starting point is 01:20:22 I don't know. I met Keisha in New York. She was in New York when it popped. Yeah. And I don't even like that scream I don't know I met Keisha in New York She was in New York When it popped Yeah And I don't even like That scream man And Savon quiet over there
Starting point is 01:20:29 Like she don't represent L.I. Oh no they going crazy They going crazy Uh Yeah nah But you realize You guys are now
Starting point is 01:20:38 Us against Atlanta Like we're trying to Turn this versus thing around The chanti looks good Damn I didn't even Think of it that way You ain't even factoring that in Yo
Starting point is 01:20:52 I'm glad you said that Yeah I ain't even factoring that in Who's gonna win the outfit war Probably Ashanti Ashanti might pick up That Fashion Nova bag Get a couple Couple extra dollars in there.
Starting point is 01:21:07 That right there would have won it. What Keisha coming in with? She's going to have that shit on too though. Don't get it twisted. Yeah. Keisha can fly too.
Starting point is 01:21:13 I never twisted it. Yeah, Keisha can fly. Will Keisha's mom be in attendance? I think both the moms. Oh yeah, this is a mom battle too. I didn't even think about that.
Starting point is 01:21:24 This is the mom battle. too. I didn't even think about that. This is the mom battle. Yeah. I'm going Frankie. I don't know, man. Miss Frankie. Give me Miss Frankie. Y'all niggas are such fans. Y'all know about moms.
Starting point is 01:21:36 Who don't know about Keisha Cole's mom? She's a legend. Shanti's mom owned the dance studio on Jamaica Avenue. Don't put her down. I didn't put anyone down. No, well, he's saying Frankie. I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to them all.
Starting point is 01:21:47 Well, let me move. That he's just going to take Frankie off the rip. Like, I don't know. Love Frankie. Shout out to Miss Frankie. All right. Well, I'll be watching on Saturday. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:21:58 That was exciting. Yeah. All right. Oh, do they like each other? Is there beef? I can't see that are they gonna be catty look at you in women's
Starting point is 01:22:07 now that's always are they gonna be catty that just shows up that just shows up that's part of it cause these are two divas yeah that just that's gonna be in a room
Starting point is 01:22:14 they're kinda divas look at you in women's business I'm always in women's business right like your whole rap career it's a good rap career. What else is happening? What else is going on that's important for us to get to?
Starting point is 01:22:29 Come on, this HBO topic is burning a hole in parks. I can see it. What HBO did? Taking over the world. Won. They won, yeah. They won. It's over.
Starting point is 01:22:38 They came through with the Thanos glove for real. It's over now. Man. I watched that little trailer thingamajiggy they put out. Yeah, I watched it too. Oh, and that? And that? And that?
Starting point is 01:22:50 Oh, man. Yeah, that's what I said watching the trailer. Yeah. Some of these corporate suits, man, y'all just overthink shit because y'all don't know shit about shit. Yeah. And you're trying to capitalize and maximize and find a way to keep every dollar and build your monopolies.
Starting point is 01:23:07 Just like the edit button seems so simple on Twitter. It seemed like such a simple solution for you studio houses that make movies and own streaming services to say, hey, same day release. What? They dropped the beat out when that happened. The letters got big. hey same day release what? they dropped the beat out when that happened the letters got big they started same
Starting point is 01:23:31 day release wait I was home like wait are you kidding me? yo now this is coming off of
Starting point is 01:23:42 and I may jeopardize a future Netflix check here. But boy, have they been trash. Yeah, it's been a little slow. No, it's been a lot of slow for months. The Queens gaming thing was cool, but that's not enough. Oh, please. Fuck out of here.
Starting point is 01:23:55 That's not enough. You wasn't feeling it? That's not enough. That was a good show, but... Cool. Not enough. Yeah. Cool.
Starting point is 01:24:02 When HBO gave us... Everything? Done doing and... And every other good show. Euphoria. Yeah, and... yeah cool yeah HBO when HBO gave us done doing everything done doing and every other good show Euphoria yeah where was Ozark
Starting point is 01:24:10 that's Netflix Netflix yeah I'll go Netflix well not really because the next season is the last one true
Starting point is 01:24:17 you're gonna have to find hey you made Hove make another one make another Ozark yeah's gambit and the fucking the beast that's not doing it whatever what else they got on netflix a bunch of bullshit it's been slow for a long time and here comes hbo who's been great for a long time i just started uh i was watching uh how i murdered my mom's murdered my watch that. I watched that. Is it good?
Starting point is 01:24:47 It's good if you're into like a doc. It's like a doc. I like docs. I started it. It started slow. It's slow. It starts slow. But I really like people investigating murders.
Starting point is 01:24:58 Cracking the case. So I watched it. I started last night. What else on HBO? Netflix had a few of those, though. They did. Good murder. It's been a while It's not fast enough
Starting point is 01:25:07 They should be able to turn out Those Unsolved Mysteries A little quicker than they have been Because that show's good Yeah Well Netflix don't want to Partner with nobody To actually
Starting point is 01:25:13 Distribute content faster They should partner with somebody Yeah When the HBO announcement Came out I was like Oh what the fuck Can y'all do
Starting point is 01:25:21 It's HBO We have partnered with someone Oh wait a minute Boy did they HBO. We have partnered with someone. Oh, wait a minute! Boy, did they. Not just someone. They partnered with Warner. Yeah, that's not just someone. And they have some deal where they're going to release all the Warner Brothers stuff on HBO
Starting point is 01:25:35 the same day it's released in the movies. I'm amped. I'm here for that. They were already winning. I was telling you, I was starting that show last night called Cult of Cults. What's that? They're on HBO Max? It's about a cult. I like cults show last night called a cult of cults what's that HBO max it's about a cult it's about a cult and they all died I think it's tea and tea and dough or the two people's names that was running the cult 37 people mass suicide 1997 this is a another four part series HBO HBO HBO not for nothing their batting percentage is crazy.
Starting point is 01:26:06 Historically. Yeah, they're the staple. Yeah. Before we even knew what a Netflix was, it was HBO. Yeah. And I think, you know, this was right on time. And they know the pandemic, theaters being closed. We were just talking about not being able to see Tenet
Starting point is 01:26:21 and not knowing where we could watch it. I started Tenet on Plex last night because it's on Plex early. It looks good. Yeah? It looks good. They invented this TV series shit that's an hour long
Starting point is 01:26:32 that's better than a movie. Yes. That is extremely complex. Everyone took HBO's blueprint. It's not just a simple sitcom. Sure. That's true. Everyone took HBO's blueprint.
Starting point is 01:26:40 Not only are we going to have a mob show, he's going to be in therapy. But now they just keep doing it. HBO invented this shit. They crushed the buildings with this movie a mob show, he's going to be in therapy. But now they just keep doing it. HBO invented this shit. They crushed the buildings with this movie announcement. Yeah, it's crazy. I know I'm phony, man, but I'm riding with HBO.
Starting point is 01:26:52 I still think that that peacock thing NBC is doing is going to be something. The peacock is going to crush the building too. That's going to be something. When I read Netflix's announcement that The Office was leaving this month, I could hear the sadness through the text.
Starting point is 01:27:08 For real, they tried to do it smooth. You sure? We can't work this out? They tried to do it smooth. It's like when Spotify said, hey, we made them an offer, but they gotta go. I heard the sadness even though they tried to be smooth about not liking it. Well, it's a sad day when the office says we're leaving. Yeah. That's a sad day.
Starting point is 01:27:24 For any executive. We was hyping up Disney Plus. It's quiet. What happened with that? Well, with new stuff, I wouldn't say it's quiet. It's solid. The Mandalorian is a hit. Ah, niggas ain't running over there.
Starting point is 01:27:33 I ain't heard a peep about Disney Plus. No, the Mandalorian is a hit. I see a lot of people talking about that. I haven't. That's a hit. And they have all the classic shit. Different chatty rooms. Rory, can you stop bringing that place up on this podcast?
Starting point is 01:27:48 Well, HBO Max gave us some dope shit already, like the last four months. And the last 30 years. But what I'm saying about Disney, the talk before Disney released was that it was coming to shut things down. Nothing near a shutdown has happened no i don't care about whatever show that is that's winning i haven't seen enough from them i don't know listen anytime we had to talk before we used to talk about the staples that are here and just here to stay and my position was i don't know who's here to stay because i think people are positioning for the next 10 years and there are a few people that man it's gonna be hard to budge them out that spot when they get there HBO is one of them definitely Netflix has to be shitting bricks I would think so
Starting point is 01:28:33 I don't know what it's a real but it's got a play coming but it's a real arrogant position no there's no play your plate that your plays are over we don't know that that's not you can't say that y'all can't tell me what I can say. You can't say Netflix play is over. I can say whatever I want to say. You have too much money up there. But that's just not a smart thing to say. I think them just acquiring other shows has been a bad strategy.
Starting point is 01:28:56 Netflix don't have no play? You think they don't have no play coming? I think that, like I said, however long ago that was we had this talk, I think that, like I said, however long ago that was we had this talk, I think that they have investors that lend them money to spend it on these movies, and I think that they have to continue to spend bigger and bigger to produce, which could be difficult when you're not the only player in the field anymore. It's my same point that I was making about Spotify. Yes, Spotify is a staple. Everybody has it. only player in the field anymore it's my same point that i was making about spotify yes spotify
Starting point is 01:29:25 is a staple everybody has it but i don't know how much money they're making on the music so actually i do but i won't say um damn what was i saying what was i saying what was netflix oh about spotify yes their position is strong i don't think their position will continue to get strong when they have to spend a hundred million dollars for anything to work. It's the same thing. Netflix is in that position and they were they've been reporting on that since before Disney Plus came out. Like, yo, I don't know how Netflix can keep up with this output because now we're in the game of these places have to have original content. And Netflix has to make it, which is why i'm confused why they're not reaching out to the well no they they just did the shonda um damn who just did the deal shonda
Starting point is 01:30:12 rhimes yeah shonda rhimes just did a big netflix deal like that's important they need to do a few more of those uh isa ray well and uh did her netflix deal stuff i think would probably be a strong more comedy stuff but that's the. That is going to be the niche. I don't think Netflix is here to play the niche game. I think they need more. That's what I think. It might be tough, though, because getting content, now that all the big studios...
Starting point is 01:30:33 It belongs everywhere. Yeah, now that NBC has their own shit in order. It's why Rory can't play music on InstaLive now. He used to give up the greatest jam sessions. Can't do it now. Know why? Music don't belong to Instagram. It don't belong to Rory.
Starting point is 01:30:45 Yeah. It's happening all over. But I think that that is such a label thing of you're stepping over a dollar to make a penny
Starting point is 01:30:53 by shutting down people promoting music that you own. 100%. Just because it's on another app or a third party app. It's a really
Starting point is 01:31:03 short-sighted way to look at things. But yeah, I think, I think that game that Netflix started, I'm just trying to acquire really expensive series and shows is, is not paying off. Well, we're all,
Starting point is 01:31:13 we're all those. I don't know that they were all super expensive shows. I could be wrong. No, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 01:31:19 Ozark was a, was a grip. Ozark is expensive. The fucking, well, did they develop Ozark? Or did they buy Ozark? Did they develop it or buy it? I don't know. The fucking... Well, did they develop Ozark? Or did they buy Ozark? Did they develop it or buy it?
Starting point is 01:31:27 I don't know. No, that changes things. You just buying something that would have already been... If you're buying The Office right now, it's an already established series. Absolutely. Ozark, I thought, was an original Netflix thing. I thought so, too. Sometimes Netflix catches a lick on that You show.
Starting point is 01:31:44 When everyone's like, yo, you know that was out four years ago and no one watched it. I'm sure Netflix caught a really low price on that, and it caught because there was a community at Netflix. Netflix has- I just think they rely on that too much, and it doesn't always catch one. How many of those You moments- Not many at all. Not very many. They had a lot.
Starting point is 01:32:00 I don't think so. There's been the cats, the dude killing the cats and the Ozark and well that's why I was asking Ozark I don't know I don't want to say that
Starting point is 01:32:10 was Ozark out well before it was on Netflix I don't believe so yeah that's what I'm saying I think it was developed by they've had some hit shows that's what I keep saying
Starting point is 01:32:18 when I said where's Ozark Mindhunter and you said Netflix tell me where Ozark is originally aired oh I'm sure a production company is it Netflix yeah a production company And you said Netflix. They definitely are. Tell me where Ozark is originally aired. Oh, I'm sure a production company. Is it Netflix?
Starting point is 01:32:28 Yeah, I think a production company put it together and then sold it to Netflix. But it wasn't something that aired in the early 80s. It aired originally on Netflix. Netflix needs a move. They do. They do. I'm with you on that, 100%. That's where I am.
Starting point is 01:32:40 They need a couple moves. They cannot continue to do what they're doing. Oh, no. I agree with you on that. And keep their same spot in the marketplace. They cannot continue to do what they're doing. Oh, no. I agree with you on that. And keep their same spot in the marketplace. They can't. Especially if they can raise the price. But you were just saying that they don't have a play.
Starting point is 01:32:51 Well, they raised the price because that was their past summer to play. Right. Raising the price. They have their investors that they got to go to and present shit to. And I don't think what they're presenting looks good. Okay. Not right now. We don't know what they have in the cut.
Starting point is 01:33:04 Yeah. And I don't think it's looked good for a little while. It's been a cold at least eight months. If I had to guess I would say they begged
Starting point is 01:33:12 Kevin Hart to walk in his living room and do something. Probably. I wouldn't be surprised by that at all. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised with that.
Starting point is 01:33:18 Yeah, of course. But they should crush the comedy thing because that has been kind of a home for stand-up specials. Yeah, I don't think that's going to change much.
Starting point is 01:33:24 And HBO used to own that to be clear. And because I has been kind of a home for stand-up specials yeah i don't think that's and hbo used to own that to be clear and because i think a lot of comedians are so focused on the community more than the money so it's like all right if if for example even hulu has a huge community or amazon does as well as far as shows go sure but they're gonna go with where the comedy crowd goes yeah and they'll take less money for it because in the long run, they'll make more. Yeah. Hulu is kind of more like a Spotify to me in that it's mostly regurgitated content from the networks.
Starting point is 01:33:52 They have a couple original shows. Sometimes they're very good. But for the most part, it's just here's NBC's catalog and here's whoever. This is us set Hulu on fire. Yeah. But when the peacock comes through and crushes the building again, whoever this is us set Hulu on fire yeah but
Starting point is 01:34:05 when the peacock comes through and crushes the building again it's gonna get sticky for Hulu yeah
Starting point is 01:34:11 they gotta show me that they gotta show me how sticky it would get for listen when you come when you come through
Starting point is 01:34:19 with Friends The Office Seinfeld This Is Us and I'm sure I'm forgetting a handful of other massive, massive shows. See, but for me, for me, yes, Peacock, NBC is going to kill
Starting point is 01:34:31 because y'all have the shows that kill. But what it does to the rest of the marketplaces, because I always say that each one of them only needed one of those. Netflix only needed The Office. Hulu maybe only needed a whatever that show, Friends. nbc is taking all of those out of the marketplace everybody's man for themselves so what that does for the field is what i want to see i know what nbc is going to look like they're not worried about anything hey give us our shit we're doing our own thing everybody else cool but y'all still got to work out here so i want want to see what it looks like. I do. Me too. At what point do you think
Starting point is 01:35:05 companies like Verizon and cable providers just give up and focus on the phone and Wi-Fi only? It's coming. It's coming. It's been coming. It's looking slow for other people. No, it's slow for cable. For sure. Traditional cable.
Starting point is 01:35:21 And this is all just going to end up costing us the same amount as traditional cable. Because I was looking at all they have listed here, and I was adding it all up. I was like, all right, yeah, I guess that's about cable if I buy all of these. Yeah. Close. It's still a little cheaper. But then if I get cable, then now I'm doubling what my bill would have been a month. The nice thing that I hope that they don't change about this is that if there's,, for instance, power on stars,
Starting point is 01:35:45 I might not really watch much else on stars. So when that's off, I can cancel the subscription for a couple months, pick it back up. I'm the king of that. Yeah, me too.
Starting point is 01:35:53 Just float in and out when shit that I want to see is there. Yeah. Which is nice. You can't really do that with cable. Yeah, having that option
Starting point is 01:35:59 is just cool. Like, I don't need this anymore. I'm cool. I'll come back to it when something else is here. YouTube TV, they got to be in some type of talks for some type of move, too. Because them having the NBA finals, that was big. They have the live TV thing.
Starting point is 01:36:18 I don't use it, but I'm surprised it hasn't caught on more. I think that's where YouTube TV can kill the way we're talking about basic cable. I like basic cable because I like to be able just to turn on a football game real quick right i'm one of those people that enjoys that part of cable i don't need to find a link i don't need to do this shit like let me just turn on the game yeah i think youtube tv can kill in that world yeah i pay for this let me just turn on the regular basic shit that cable has always had yeah well. Well, then you have the antenna, too. Not for nothing. For all you cord cutters out there, you can get the NBC, CBS, all that shit just from
Starting point is 01:36:50 the air. YouTube ain't going nowhere. No. Of course not. That's not what we're suggesting at all. They'll be there. Yeah. They're a staple here.
Starting point is 01:36:59 They're comfortable. They've done enough. They're very comfortable. Yeah. Trust and believe. Yeah. They damn near invented streaming. Right.
Starting point is 01:37:08 Netflix needs more culture. I agree. Am I that guy now? I mean, and if you are, that's okay. It's okay to be that guy. That's why I said they should lean into the stand-up thing. I get frustrated on Netflix because stand-up, you know how they look at categories when you pull up the app?
Starting point is 01:37:25 I don't ever get to stand-up and I watch almost exclusively stand-up on Netflix and they don't have a stand-up. That should be the highlighted fucking thing. More marketing to culture, less marketing to pedophiles. Well, that I won't disagree with. I don't understand the reference.
Starting point is 01:37:42 That fucking show they put out with the little girls doing the dance and then people came out and said, hey, you're marketing the pedophiles. And they just kept doing it. I didn't watch it either, but I mean, it was definitely on my view now. I think I'm a jiggy that they do. Once I see teenagers, I'm just clicking past.
Starting point is 01:37:58 I don't think they were teenagers. They were under teenagers for sure. No, I was nasty. Even the title, don't look up the title, but the title was nasty too. That was just, wasn't it? All right. What else we got? What else we got?
Starting point is 01:38:09 Netflix, more culture. Yeah. And just, or good stuff. Good things. Anything good. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:38:15 anything that'll just keep us on the site. All you companies that kept putting out, putting out your tweets and your marketing plans about all these things you were going to do for black people in the black community a few months ago. Where is it? Netflix, in their defense, has put out a lot of...
Starting point is 01:38:32 I wasn't talking about Netflix. They put out a lot of black content. They have a whole category for it to swipe. Not y'all caping for the whites. I'm just saying that they've done a... Well, I think they really care well I think I think they really I think they really care I don't think they really care
Starting point is 01:38:48 I don't know if they really care I don't know no I'm not talking about Netflix I'm just talking about in general alright what else what else what else oh shit speaking of

Starting point is 01:41:21 What does this list mean? Somebody tell me what's happening. They have good PR. Topping charts and shifting culture. Oh, wait. I thought Forbes only did money. I really thought it was 30 under 30. Well, if you're topping the charts and shifting culture, I'm pretty sure you're making money.
Starting point is 01:41:33 Now they're doing culture, Rory. They're headed to money, Rory. They're going to get it. Wait, you think topping charts and shifting culture gets you money? It'll get you on a 30 under 30. No, it'll get your label some money. Yeah, that's true. Is there like a number order that this is in

Starting point is 01:42:51 Selena Gomez. All-star alumni. Megan Thee Stallion. Selena Gomez and Justin Lube Liner. Wait. I feel like Lube Liner should be my last name. I'd be lining the loop. When I come back to the rap game. Joey Lube Liner should be my last name. I'd be lining the lube. When I come back to the rap game.
Starting point is 01:43:08 Joey Lube Liner? Joe Lube Liner. If you're an alumni of the 30 under 30, are you over 30? What is the alumni? It was just there last year? Yeah. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 01:43:22 Thoughts, gentlemen? Congrats to all these people. Yeah, but thoughts? Thank you for shifting the culture. Congrats, gentlemen? Congrats to all these people. Yeah, but thoughts? Thank you for shifting the culture. Congrats, but thoughts? They shifted the culture. Thanks, but thoughts? I think Sweetie's awesome.
Starting point is 01:43:30 I don't really understand the context of just saying chart toppers and culture shifters. We're safe on them. I don't disagree with them. Like, Gibson Hazard, for me, me was really the part of my culture. Rory should have been on the top 30. Dot Connectors under 30. But I'm not under 30. I'm 30.
Starting point is 01:43:54 Oh, 30 and under. I would have made that list. 30 and under. Best Dot Connectors. You. Mover and Shaker. Yeah. You shake.
Starting point is 01:44:06 Tastemaker. You help me get the keys to that V.6 what happened when we got rich though alright Forbes under 30 30 under 30 blah blah blah alright I don't care about this
Starting point is 01:44:20 congrats I don't care about any of this stuff no no no no I don't care I'm here to talk to my friends. Just more lists. What you doing tomorrow? What's your weekend looking like?
Starting point is 01:44:32 Give a fuck about this shit. Are you going to fire up the grill tomorrow? Forbes will not be part of my weekend. You're not going to read Forbes this weekend? No, I won't. Alright, we got a spicy story here. Didn't see Chance on that list.
Starting point is 01:44:49 Why not? He's being sued. Really? By who? His manager. For what? Because his manager thinks his album's trash. You can't sue somebody because their album's trash.
Starting point is 01:45:02 According to Illinois, you can. You're suing him because he album is trashed. According to Illinois, you can't. Me and Sue and him because he took back the chance. Can't give me a chance to take it. What is going on? Honestly, what happened? Let's see. I'm not reading this shit because I don't care.
Starting point is 01:45:18 Alright, I'll give you a breakdown. Oh, yes. Grab a snicker. Took him a year to hear the album and now he has a breakdown. I didn't hear the album, but I Grab a snicker. Took him a year to hear the album, and now he has a breakdown. I didn't hear the album, but I did read the lawsuit. I read the litigation.
Starting point is 01:45:31 All right, get this shit over with. No, so essentially his manager is suing him because he announced his album without speaking with his manager and just put the album date out. And his manager's like, hey, I don't know if it's a good idea because you have not recorded any music
Starting point is 01:45:48 and you're now putting us on a date. You also have a wedding you need to do. And I don't think the music will be up to par if we stick to this date that you announced without even talking to me about. Can you hear Hot Shower? No, he did not hear Hot Shower. Wow.
Starting point is 01:46:02 So Chance stuck to the date, put it out. It was Chance's commercially worst project. His ticket sales suffered, and I believe it ruined, according to this manager, their careers. So he is asking for $3 million. They are as in they, as in them both. Yes. You got to relax. So the manager asked for $3 million.
Starting point is 01:46:28 I guess that's a number of what he thinks they could have made had he listened to his management skills. And go read it for yourself. I just, I read. Nah, I'm going to roll with what you said. Yeah, it's fine. Yeah, I'll just take your word for this one, buddy. I'm going to read this literature. That's pretty interesting.
Starting point is 01:46:44 I've never heard of something like this. And I guess once- You can't sue me because my album panned. Yeah, I don't even understand. But you didn't listen to me, though. Oh, wait, because he fired him. Oh, he fired him, too. He fired him.
Starting point is 01:46:56 That's important. No, he fired him after the album tanked, according to him, and he's now managed by his dad and his brother. And his dad and his brother said, all right, let's just settle this. I'll give you $350,000. And he said, no, I want $3 million, and I want, I guess, whatever the industry standard is when you do something like this
Starting point is 01:47:15 is three years of commission. Hold on to that $350,000, buddy. I'm not going to take it. Yeah. I'm going to wait and fight this one out. So he was fired. Okay, I get it and fight this one out. So he was fired. Okay, I get it now. It makes more sense.
Starting point is 01:47:29 Wrongfully fired. It wasn't his fault that you didn't listen to him. Who do you side with here, buddy? Come on. Come on. I mean... You know, I love
Starting point is 01:47:38 Park's sound effects. Pause. I mean, the album, it wasn't my favorite album. Okay, but what is it? Yeah, but I don't think the manager was back there telling the truth. That's a good point. Well, he said, no, no, he was saying in there that, yeah, he was.
Starting point is 01:47:52 What was he supposed to say? Saying, hey, Chance, you have a wedding you're about to do. There's no time. The manager's in the studio going, ooh. Yeah, yeah. Once you find that, he lost the lawsuit after that. It's like, all right, alright fam you thought it was fire I'm sorry buddy
Starting point is 01:48:06 yeah the manager kept it really really real in the text when he got the demos I was about to say there's probably text messages where he's saying
Starting point is 01:48:14 Chance I don't think this is enough time for us to roll this album out and you haven't recorded anything and you have a wedding you're planning this doesn't seem like the right time
Starting point is 01:48:22 to put your debut album out are we back to that debut stuff again? I just was trying to That was a trigger point for you That's why I said it Okay I was thinking the other day How Chance
Starting point is 01:48:31 Was the nail in the coffin For mixtapes He put the nail in the coffin? Coloring book was the end Of the mixtape era Officially You don't think it was before that? Well mixtape came out since then
Starting point is 01:48:42 Lil Wayne just put one out Last week To the goat You don't think it was before that? What mixtape came out since then? Lil Wayne just put one out last week. Man to the goat. Man. One mixtape in the course of five years? Man to the goat. No, streaming killed mixtape. Man to the goat.
Starting point is 01:48:56 Not a chance. You don't want to look at me. Man to the goat. You can't. You can't. He keeps talking about it. Rory, what'd you say? I'm trying to get him out of it.
Starting point is 01:49:04 No, no. Man to the goat. Did you listen to it? What? No. What? He was keep talking about Roy what you say I'm trying to get him out of there The man to the goat Did you listen to it What No What Joe said why he didn't listen to it Yeah I don't listen to rap no more
Starting point is 01:49:14 No that's not what he said That is what I said That's not what you said What I said You said he wasn't off the fact That he said racism isn't real And I respect that Let me How much is not in my head isn't real. And I respect that. How much is not in my head to that now?
Starting point is 01:49:28 Yeah, no, I respect it. I get it. I seen Loaded Lux talking about why Trump is the man, too. It made me look at that whole black power round a little different. Moving on. Moving on. You didn't fall for the clickbait on that one? Just moving on.
Starting point is 01:49:43 He said, I'm not supporting Trump. I just understand why he would be better right now. Let me look up support. Maybe I got the definition right. Oh, Lux saying what I was saying? Yeah. Oh, okay. All you Bronx and Harlem niggas are saying the same thing.
Starting point is 01:50:00 No, just all people that don't care about politics. I made a bet with somebody yesterday That shall remain nameless We bet a dollar His bet is that Trump is still the president He's not leaving I said I'll take that dollar I'll get that dollar
Starting point is 01:50:14 He's up out of here So we'll see We'll see what happens I hear he's pretty down about it though Trump? I don't know Moving on Man to the goat an emotionally stable person
Starting point is 01:50:29 did you listen to it i tried it's fucked up because wayne has really been rapping no doubt he's rapping he don't sound bad on no ceilings three he's been rapping he doesn't sound bad he does like no wayne is still Wayne. He's not the Wayne Wayne that we love to death, but yeah, he sounded good on this. This wasn't like some horrible mixtape.
Starting point is 01:50:52 It was a good mixtape. No, it wasn't horrible. Not at all. He rapping on it. Not at all. I don't listen to him rap. It's cool. I'm sure one person
Starting point is 01:50:58 listens. Any R&B on here? There's some singing. Yeah, there's some singing on there. Any rhythm in bars? He was on beat. If there's no rhythm in bars, then. No, there any rhythm in bars he was on beat if there's no rhythm in bars then
Starting point is 01:51:08 no there's rhythm in bars on here yeah for sure well yeah no I'm not gonna put that on chance that he ruined mixtapes
Starting point is 01:51:15 no I didn't say he ruined them I'm just saying that he was the end of the era that album a mixtape can't get no higher than going to like quadruple million times
Starting point is 01:51:24 but that's cause it wasn't a mixtape. No, no. It was an album. No, no. It was an album. He ushered in the mixtape album officially on the biggest level. That's what I'm saying. I'm not saying he killed mixtapes.
Starting point is 01:51:38 I think streaming. I just think that he was the end of the mixtape. That's the official. Can't monetize something that's not yours. While we were on our Netflix conversation, I wanted to jump in and just hit the round of applause and really shout out Triller because they announced their boxing network
Starting point is 01:51:58 with Snoop Dogg, their collaboration. Again, I think they did a phenomenal job with the Tyson fight. I think they did a phenomenal job with the Tyson fight. I think they have now found their lane in funding and distributing original content. They seen that shit work. And they have a lot of money, and I don't think they're going to stop and call me. I will continue to pay $50 on a Saturday night to watch Snoop make jokes on people fighting. No, this could be like the big three shit
Starting point is 01:52:29 that Ice Cube does, but boxing, and just have Snoop commentate everything. Get some old fighters in the ring. Whatever they do, just don't put Nate Robinson back in that ring. What? You have to do the rematch. Please don't.
Starting point is 01:52:39 The rematch. You have to do the rematch. I don't want to see that one again. No, please don't. You're not watching that rematch? No. Don't put Tyson and Roy back in there. I'm not watching that rematch. You have to do the rematch. I don't want to see that one again. No, please don't. You're not watching that rematch? No. I'm watching that rematch. I would take that fight if all my bones weren't aching or broken. What fight?
Starting point is 01:52:51 Inside of me. Take what fight? Jake Paul? Or Nate? Either. Yo, I love you black dudes that are scared of Jake Paul now. Y'all was impressed by some of them shots? No, I'm just saying you.
Starting point is 01:53:06 Fucking wipe that nigga around in the bodega. Okay. Nate said the same. That's exactly how Nate started this whole thing. That's exactly how this thing started with Nate. Sam, I'm not Nate. I know you're not. I know you're going to fall the same way you get in there with that white bitch.
Starting point is 01:53:17 Knock your ass right out, nigga. And you're going to get up like my hands were so heavy. Well, you know, I've never been knocked out. But boxing is different though. Let me been knocked out. But boxing is different, though. Let me tell you that. Boxing is different. You travel in some circles with niggas that have been knocked out publicly, and you still dap them up.
Starting point is 01:53:33 Cool. You're talking to a nigga that has never experienced that. I'm just telling you something. Boxing is different. I'm just telling you something. Boxing is different. I'm just telling you something. But boxing is different.
Starting point is 01:53:43 The battle for YouTube. Yo. Joe Biden versus Jake Paul. Save on. Mark this because this is the clip they're going to play right after Joe is laying on the canvas. What I'm going to look like on that creatine. This clip is going to

Starting point is 01:54:13 He could hit. He could hit. Oh, you fell for the sparring footage? You didn't see that shit? Nate should have saw that before he jumped in the ring. He would have changed his mind. Or maybe practiced.
Starting point is 01:54:23 Let me give you a legendary line from one of the greatest movies ever made Bloodsport brick don't hit the back nobody's ever looking his way when he's punching him I know hey more brick don't hit the back hey Nate did it back ever looking his way when he's punching him. Super glad that Jeremiah is doing a lot better, that he's able to get on the phone, and that it looks like he should be good sometime soon. Starting point is 01:59:37 I think that's just more of like some funny shit. So I finally find somebody I'll win against. You're like, what that say? What that do? No, that's just funny, though. But I would see that. I would watch that. She don't put it down coming on third. I'm mad you put the set list together when you heard it.
Starting point is 01:59:54 That's what you play at third? That's what you're giving them? You think they ready for your third? How you gonna intro that? That's a point. That's gonna intro that that's a point that's a way that's a point i'm gonna come back every week i will come think of somebody i could beat until swiss and them introduce the new openers yeah i tried to sneak it in the last week Joe was like yeah nah you're opening he's like zone zone zone zone zone zone zone zone zone yo he zoned me

Starting point is 02:00:34 Danny Garcia versus Earl Spence Earl Spence Jr I guess that prefix is important you think you can beat either of them no
Starting point is 02:00:44 I just wanted to figure out where your level was at with everything. It's only y'all that be impressed by these big white boys. I put these niggas down. Not these two. That's a little different, Rory. Okay, just making sure. What do you think you'll do with Jake Porter? I didn't say I could beat up Jake Porter.
Starting point is 02:00:59 I'm asking. I never said that. You said that. I know now. I'm asking you what you think you'll do. In the ring or in a street fight? Anywhere. That's enough. Change the thing. Anywhere. I went anywhere. I never said that. You said that. I know now. I'm asking you what you think you'll do. In the ring or like in a street fight? Anywhere, nigga. Anywhere. No changes there.
Starting point is 02:01:07 Anywhere. I win anywhere. Where you win? Anywhere. I could win in a street fight with him. In the ring now. What street? Yeah, that's an important question.
Starting point is 02:01:15 What street? Steinway. Is it Calabasas Street? Steinway. Where we catch him on Steinway? On Steinway? I'm winning on Steinway. That's home turf.
Starting point is 02:01:22 Yeah. That's home turf. These are the rivers and lakes I'm used to. I'll be all right over here. Does anybody have a boxing take for us? I like Errol Spence in this fight. I'm going with Mo. I don't have the range for this.
Starting point is 02:01:35 Yeah, me either. I like Errol Spence. I'm not a boxing guy. I'm a casual boxing fan. Me too. I've watched both of these gentlemen fight, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to. I get all my boxing stuff from Royce, and I'm not going to call him right now. Okay.
Starting point is 02:01:47 I like Spence. I just like the story. I want him to win. But Spence is coming back from injury? Car crash, yeah. Which wasn't too long ago at all. Definitely going to be a tough fight for him. I maybe would have took a tune-up too yeah this ain't really the tune okay okay that should probably change things for me
Starting point is 02:02:12 i'm probably gonna go danny you want danny i like danny garcia like a year ago without a warm-up fight without a just to get the joints back and fight Jake Paul I'm not yet I'm not knowledgeable enough but if that doesn't change that doesn't change you know anything for the Tyson fight numbers came back on what the Tyson fight is that confirmed or you just freestyling did you do any research 1.5 million viewers that's a lot of dollars. At $50 a pop. We might as well do away with boxing now. We got one.
Starting point is 02:02:51 We got one with this one. Snoop, come on back. And that's just paid viewers. A lot of people streamed that shit. For sure. But it was way more than 1.5 million people watching that. Yeah. That's amazing.
Starting point is 02:03:04 It is. That's a bag bag. What do you think their overhead was? It cost. They spent some money. Paying everybody. How does YouTube feel about this fight? They might be trying to get the next one.
Starting point is 02:03:17 Yeah, it's certainly something that would... That's a nice lane, though. They found a nice little pocket trailer. That's a nice little pocket. I don't know if YouTube likes this. They got to find something else. They got to get some... No, we don't. The YouTube don't. No, we can find this.
Starting point is 02:03:32 Pay for it. I'm just saying, Jake Paul's a YouTube star. True. And now we're watching our YouTube star go and be a star on another platform. It looks like he did a really good job and they're probably investing in him. Hey, man. Yeah, I think YouTube will get something
Starting point is 02:03:47 with Jake Paul. They're going to approach him with the bag. Oh, maybe so. Yeah, do like the 24-7 shit where you're leading up to the fight. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 02:03:57 Yeah, I can see that. There's room for a lot of that. Yeah, BTS, the little sparring shit that we just watched. I imagine Jake Paul's phone to be off the hook I imagine him to have
Starting point is 02:04:08 no shortage of business coming his way what about Nate it's probably the end it's probably the end of that no Nate's phone has been it's probably over for that ball
Starting point is 02:04:17 his phone has been off the hook I guarantee you that you don't think they're going for the rematch you get knocked out like that before a Tyson fight no everybody saw that no I don't think they're going for the rematch? Yeah. You get knocked out like that before a Tyson fight? No. No.
Starting point is 02:04:26 Everybody saw that. No. I don't think they're going for the rematch. Did he find Spudway? I think Muggsy Bogues is ready. Yeah. No, leave that alone. All right, listen.
Starting point is 02:04:39 John Wall is in Houston. No more singles. Before we get to that, who won this trade and who has the better backcourt now I feel like there was kind of a wash um no well one got a first round pick out the deal so I mean got the better John John is a couple you John and James versus a bill andbrook, your favorite player. Who has the better backcourt? And I don't know that James is staying there, but right this second, how does it look?
Starting point is 02:05:11 Houston. I don't know yet. Yeah, I don't know yet. I got to see what John Wall looks like coming back. Yeah, that's the question mark. I got to see what John Wall looks like coming back. He looks good in these pick-up games. I hope he comes back and looks like he did before he got hurt he looks great in these pickup games um that's gotta suck like at one point john wall was the fastest player in
Starting point is 02:05:33 the league right yeah then you gotta rehab and come back from injury and now when you come back i gotta look at all these fast ass 21 year olds that's in the league now like now i gotta deal with deanne fox and who else is fast like there's some fast guys out there now yeah-olds that's in the league now. Like, now I got to deal with De'Aaron Fox and who else is fast? Like, there's some fast guys out there now. Yeah. I think that's part of the case with Westbrook, too. What? Like, when you're used to just being the fastest guy out there
Starting point is 02:05:55 and having the most athletic ability, and then as you age, you have to deal with these other guys. I compare it to, like, kind of like when you're a rapper and you had your run of you was that shit, and now you got to watch the younger dudes come up and do things y'all didn't do or invent that you have to watch it and sustain and still be great while they're doing that i imagine that to be a tough spot for both john wall and russell westbrook to be in as veterans and elder statesmen yeah uh russell is obviously still one of the most elite guards in the league.
Starting point is 02:06:29 I think that him playing in this, you know, it's a noose. First of all, he's in the Eastern Conference now. I like him and Bradley Bill together. Cade Cunningham. Who? None. But yeah, it's just, I don't know. You got to see how they look. You know, chemistry.
Starting point is 02:06:48 If Russ is going to play with a change of pace, or is he going to just keep going 100 miles an hour? It's just a lot of things that, you know, is in question. How is John going to look coming off the injury? If you got a girl in Houston, you share her now. I was wondering if it was going to get to the shits. That's really just the bottom line. If you thought the lines Were long as turkey leg
Starting point is 02:07:06 Hut before Think again Even longer now If you thought that Your little bit of money In V Live Was gonna do the trick Guess what
Starting point is 02:07:14 It's over for that balling You can stay home now Nah Camp looks a little Different now I don't think the league Has ever seen A backcourt
Starting point is 02:07:22 Off the court Like this No They never This is the best off the court back court you have ever seen in the league trust you me so now here's my hot take undebatable here's my hot take and i've been right on this hot take each time i've said it i said that well no i said chris paul and j Harden would fight and they fought they did you don't have to debate me on it
Starting point is 02:07:47 Russell Westbrook I didn't see a fight there but I don't really remember if I said one I got John Wall and James Harden bumping heads over a girl
Starting point is 02:07:53 at some point I can say it I guess I'm not mad at that I also have Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal bumping heads at some point too
Starting point is 02:08:03 did you have KD and Kyrie no Iok and Bradley Bill bumping heads at some point, too. Did you have KD and Kyrie? No. I didn't have them bumping heads. But like I said, told you all a few podcasts ago, I do think that with how things are going in an organization in terms of power structure during the season, we'll hear a tiff. We'll hear a tiff. But Kyrie loves KD too much for that to be ever overblown bradley bill always wants to fight somebody like i see it russell westbrook is another one always
Starting point is 02:08:32 wants to fight somebody john wall and james hard and i just could see i just could see it we'll see how it plays out we'll see how it plays out yeah what's up your man lebron 85 million two years what'd you think underpaid big bags Big bags. Underpaid. Sure, underpaid. But I understand it. For his guy, he had to take a little less. And I like the two-year thing that LeBron has been doing. Anthony Davis, five years, $185 million? $65 million, something like that?
Starting point is 02:08:56 $190. Big bags. Worth every penny. Big bags. Lakers, Lakers, overwhelming favorite, or do you have 35 wins again? No, they're the favorite, obviously. To win it all? Yeah, obviously.
Starting point is 02:09:11 Nobody beating them four times, right? Here's the thing. Anthony Davis has to stay healthy. Oh, brand new podcast, Joe Bud Network. Here's the thing. No, he has to. That's not even named a podcast. He has to. Good plug.
Starting point is 02:09:20 Because if Anthony Davis gets hurt the rest of that roster is you know still pretty good yeah but if he gets hurt I don't want to put that out there I'm just saying if the best player on any team gets hurt here's my question for you guys to answer politically correct
Starting point is 02:09:40 if you see fit do you like what Paul George is doing just trashing Doc Rivers every chance he gets? No, I don't like when players do that anyway, though. Got it. Because you were out there. You were on the floor. The coach wasn't shooting. He wasn't...
Starting point is 02:09:55 The more details that come out in that Clippers locker room, it's nasty. Paul George did Matt Barnes and Steven Jackson's podcast, and that clip is everywhere, man. Shout-out to them for starting their new season out with a bang. Shout-out to Matt. Shout-out to Staff Jack.
Starting point is 02:10:09 Big bang. The niggas I expect to provide bangs, they be providing the bang. Pause. But, yeah, Paul George is shitting on Doc Rivers. He's shitting on whatever the plan was. But they say that Paul George and Kawhi was the only two that had personal trainers and personal security guards. So if I'm on the team and you come through with your
Starting point is 02:10:29 personal security guard, I'm going to have a fit. But that's every main player, big star in the league though. James Harden has personal security. LeBron has personal security. I think Kawhi is not going to have personal security. I do. I'm talking about Paul George, Pandemic Paul.
Starting point is 02:10:49 I mean, I can see Paul having security, too. He's a franchise player. No, I'm not saying that he shouldn't. I'm saying if I'm another player, when Paul comes in, when Kawhi comes in with security, that's a little. When Paul comes in with his security. You feel a way. A little side eye.
Starting point is 02:11:04 A little side eye. But they're going to be good to him. Paul, say with his security. You feel a way. A little side eye. A little side eye. But they're going to be good to him. Paul say, how you doing? I'm trying to get like you. That's some hating shit. I'm just trying to get like you. You doing it. That's hating shit.
Starting point is 02:11:15 It's not me. It's you. How you doing? I don't know. You got him. Trying to get on your level. Yeah. What is this here?
Starting point is 02:11:23 Leonard and George were the only players to have their own personal security guard and trainers. Leonard and George had power over the team's practice and travel schedule. Travel? Come on, man. Leading teammates to believe Leonard canceled multiple practices. Leonard was allowed to live in San Diego and commute from there, which often made him late for team flights. Leonard and George typically didn't speak to the media until at least 45 minutes after games concluded. Under the guise of post-game treatment or workouts,
Starting point is 02:11:45 this usually resulted in their teammates speaking with the media first and for longer, essentially becoming the public voices of the team. Teammates also believed that Leonard and George
Starting point is 02:11:52 were able to pick and choose when they played. Not only did they sit out games entirely, but also at times they accepted or declined playing time. Declining playing time
Starting point is 02:12:00 is hilarious. Yeah, I'm cool. Like, nah, I don't want to play. PG, we need you. Get an ant. You know what? I'm going to show you right here. Yeah, cool. You guard him. You used. Yeah, I'm cool. Like, nah, I don't want to talk about that. PG, we need you. Get an ant. You know what? I'm going to chill right here. Yeah, I'm cool.
Starting point is 02:12:07 You guard him. You used to play, right? Yeah. Huh? Yeah, I'm cool. Where's Austin Rivers now? Yeah, no, I'm cool. On the Knicks.
Starting point is 02:12:17 On the Knicks. Know what song I hear in a while? We are the New York Knicks. They don't even sing that shit no more. All right, I believe that's everything. I don't have anything else on my list to get to that is important and relevant and impactful to the culture. Do you have anything, Rory? Maul, do you have anything?
Starting point is 02:12:32 Parks, Parks? E-Rap? Anybody? You guys going to move in Houston a little different now? No. Yeah, me neither. Not at all. I saw a meme.
Starting point is 02:12:42 Somebody said, you're going an argument With your girl from Houston Next thing you know She at J Prince Jr. house With unlimited 1942 Screaming mob ties It's over At that point You just gotta like
