Starting point is 00:20:00 Oh yeah. And. Why are you looking? I was just waiting to see what. It's an island? No, I'm just joking. oh yeah and why you looking yeah you ain't gonna say no names I was just waiting to see what it's an island no I'm just if you was gonna respond to
Starting point is 00:20:09 the host asked a question I said and me and the host understood oh were you not privy to your understanding nah I hate when Ishan Parks is on the same
Starting point is 00:20:19 in the same backcourt I mean we always backcourt yeah I don't like that you see him? Yeah, you think so? We got to give these niggas the door. Nah, nah.
Starting point is 00:20:28 Come on, we can get right to it if y'all want. Shoot. All right, the versus versus. The versus versus, damn. Versus versus. Versus versus versus. All right.
Starting point is 00:20:41 I mean, this is a damn shit. I mean, this is in line with something that we have not told the audience what happened yet. Look at you, ready to get your bars off. No, no, no. That's not what I was about to say. No, not at all.
Starting point is 00:20:53 All the naysayers coming out. Swiss and Tim are suing Triller. That's Swiss Beats and Timbaland. Timbaland. Legends. Yes. Indeed. Creators of Versus. beats and Timbaland Timbaland legends yes indeed creators of versus are suing Triller seeking 28
Starting point is 00:21:09 million dollars for versus rap battle deal that's a couple dollars a little bit Triller now says it's paid them over 50 mil to date and claims that they've not met their earn out payment threshold I don't know what an earn out payment threshold is.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Would you enlighten us? What? The earn out payment threshold? Yeah. That means that you will be paid maybe, let's say, quarterly and you have deliverables. Oh. So we will give you X amount at the start. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 00:21:45 I mean, it was back. X amount at the start. And the next time you'll get this. So we're stalling payments. Gotcha. Based on what you deliver, though. Whatever that is. So you should deliver a certain amount of events.
Starting point is 00:21:59 That's where it gets fuzzy. I'm saying whatever your agreed upon terms are. Yes, but that is where it begins to get fuzzy. Gotcha. Well, it's saying here, according to the lawsuit, after Triller failed to make a large payment to Swiss and Timberland in January, the company agreed to a settlement requiring Triller to pay them $18 million, which is $9 million each by March 20th, with $1 million per month for the following 10 months. And Triller has not made
Starting point is 00:22:25 any of those payments. This is what their lawsuit alleges. Which, I was getting ready to say, goes in line with a report that came out a couple weeks ago. I believe it was the Washington Post.
Starting point is 00:22:37 I could be wrong. I don't want to get the wrong paper. But the report was that Triller hasn't been paying the creatives. Oh yeah, we talked about that briefly on Patreon maybe. So hasn't been paying the creatives. Oh yeah. You talked,
Starting point is 00:22:46 we talked about that briefly on Patreon maybe. So it wasn't paying the artists either. The people that like they, they had, they did some type of initiative for, for black creators. And there were people that had signed on with Triller saying, you know,
Starting point is 00:23:00 if we'll put certain amount of content out and we'll get paid X amount of money. And Triller has not paid anyone. And there were people are people like yo i'm facing eviction i've been doing this i'm still meeting obligations because you know this is my contract that we signed this deal i'm sending my invoices in and i'm not getting paid so it seemed like something ain't working over there i don't know if it's when they tried to, this is just speculation, if when they tried to go to subscription base, niggas wasn't signing up like that. Probably so.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Probably so. Or they tried to mix it with the boxing and it just ain't work. I don't know. But it seems like the money is running kind of low. At Triller. At Triller. Probably. Probably the case.
Starting point is 00:23:45 I don't see how they make money. No, they have endorsements at all the things. They're usually sponsored by somebody. They have the shit written all over the fucking set. They usually have bottles
Starting point is 00:23:55 or whatever the shit may be. And if you're an endorsee, we're going to rock the first time. Let's say you Pepsi. Yeah. I'm going to give y'all XYZ. And then they don't pop. I'm not giving y'all no more bread.
Starting point is 00:24:07 You get what I'm saying? We just throwing numbers out. I want some Parks sneakers. And I think that your sneakers are going to sell a certain amount of sneakers in first quarter. If they don't pop, I'm not putting no more money behind your shit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:22 That's outside of my wheelhouse I'm just guessing however I think the way that that usually works and you can correct me if I'm wrong it kind of don't matter how the shit performs
Starting point is 00:24:32 it's I'm putting you in front of X amount of people this is what the rate is for that amount of people sure like a commercial like Superbowl
Starting point is 00:24:38 yeah the Superbowl is projected to be 100 million viewers I don't think they come back to the NFL if their fucking quarterly isn't a jump right there and say yo actually we're not gonna pay you no more or not or next year i'm not giving you that because you only have 50 million viewers and we projected 100
Starting point is 00:24:52 million last year and i and i put commercial spots based on those projected numbers y'all didn't meet them so now i'm not gonna give y'all the same amount of money next year yeah or just yo we thought by spending this amount of money with you it would bring us back a certain amount and even if even if y'all had 100 million viewers it didn't turn into product it didn't turn into sales for us so we could send spend that money elsewhere maybe it could be anything but it just seems like the money is slowing up over there at Triller. And they're not paying anyone. That's a damn shame. What you think? It's all so complicated.
Starting point is 00:25:30 It really is. It is. It's big money, so. I know no facts. None of us do, by the way. We're speculating here. I'm speculating. And this will sound vague, but they either made a whole lot of money or they didn't make any money.
Starting point is 00:25:51 Triller? Yeah. Either Triller is doing really, really, really well. Or really, really bad. Or they're doing really, really, really, really bad. I would assume the latter. Yeah, I think it's the other one. I would assume the last yeah I think it's the other one I would assume
Starting point is 00:26:06 now I don't know because that gets into the numbers of things I haven't been following how the boxing shit has been doing I know it's all looked
Starting point is 00:26:17 out of order that's when Ice came in here and said hey there was a few of these versus battles that were blinked out promised to us that we never received. That's a fact.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Yeah, you did say that. It's also weird because for the most part, I know there was a couple that weren't, but for the most part they've also been live on Instagram and YouTube. So I don't know how all that shit gets broken down financially. Gets broken down or what the benchmarks are and shit. But I would assume a lot of people are watching it not on Twitter.
Starting point is 00:26:48 That was Cypress Hill and Onyx Beef. Because it was like yo, you didn't put ours wide like you do everybody else's. You put it behind the paywall and it ain't a lot of people over here. And I even said it then. I said, yo, I believe that that might have been a test. Just to see
Starting point is 00:27:04 exactly how many people we got only paying aistradamus man but they can't do that with cypress hill and onyx you know i'm saying like no disrespect to them but you gotta have a usher chris brown you gotta have some big name shit and then you can say yo the subscription only you can't force a nigga to go watch well remember i came in here and said that they offered me a blink check and with that information now you know what a blink check means blank maybe maybe we'll maybe we'll get to it maybe we won't we don't we don't play no pain all right yeah and you can write you can write down whatever number you want. What do you want? How much? You got it.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Sue me. You got it. Standing line. Yeah. Especially if the payments are installed. Yeah. That's one. Two, the owners of Driller or the co-owners or whatever, I read this shit, but the two guys, they've been around the block and have their own reputation.
Starting point is 00:28:09 I'm certain that both sides did their due diligence to add language in the contract for both sides that would give each party an out whenever they wanted one. That's the other side to why these big deals don't really mean shit. Because what's the language that gets us out of this ASAP? I don't know who has the better of the side. But if I'm assuming Triller is broke, I put that side to Timbaland and Swiss. I do. I do. If Triller's broke, I give it to them. If Triller is not broke and is going to make them jump through hoops and hurdles and drag this out and make it a long, drawn-out thing before they eventually settle, which is what will happen at some point, well, then it could get ugly.
Starting point is 00:28:54 And it probably will get a little bit ugly. Probably so. And I wonder if it's going to keep- Because this is already ugly, the fact that it's public. Read that last part. Because Triller is- Well, let me finish. This one?
Starting point is 00:29:08 Yeah, the last one. In December, Triller announced plans to become a publicly traded company that's exactly what i was about to get into through a reverse merger with sea change international a provider of video streaming and ad technologies the companies had claimed the value of the new entity to be called triller versus corp would be approximately five billion dollars however in june 2022 sea change and triller mutually agreed to terminate the merger Corp would be approximately $5 billion. However, in June, 2022, C change and Triller mutually agreed to terminate the merger agreement per a regulatory filing. That's what I was about to get into.
Starting point is 00:29:34 It's already ugly because Triller would be trying to go public. Somebody would be trying to go public. And the worst possible thing when you're trying to go public is a headline business. Yeah. And a headline of, of, and about bad business to scare away other people. So this is already a nightmare. So it's going to get uglier, and they will eventually settle.
Starting point is 00:29:55 But I also imagine that the labels had something to do with this. What you mean? Because you're taking our shit. That's our shit. That's our shit and making that's our music off of our music when y'all signed this deal and this is again guessing here that's why it went from song battle to live performance where you have to alter the record or the performance but i don't know if y'all altered it enough to make a label say this hey that's our shit. And that's part of what Trilla was saying,
Starting point is 00:30:26 which is, hey, y'all have obligations to record labels that were unbeknownst to us when we did this deal. So we have come out of pocket X amount of dollars to other people. And look, we don't have it to give you. Last year, Universal took its music catalog from triller yeah and then you know they they worked out a new deal and put it back on
Starting point is 00:30:54 but yeah now we got no no we gotta fix this oh this is what's going on over here no we gotta fix it we're gonna take our music off now you can't have nobody that got anything on the Universal perform and stream it on your service. A lot of the guys, they just thought it was going to be worth. See, and you could do that. You could have that conversation if you're Versus with Apple.
Starting point is 00:31:16 Because now it's Versus and Apple. What y'all trying to say, record labels? Let's talk. This ain't that. This is Triller. I didn't mean to say record labels let's talk right this ain't that this is triller right i didn't mean to say it like that no but i mean it's level but the point is the point levels levels the mute is only is a short list of people the music business feel like they got to bow down to or will realize after long long uh litigation that you have to bow down we already have a uh
Starting point is 00:31:43 and that's youtube, Apple, Amazon. A fairly blanket licensing situation set up, so it's not really no big deal for you to do this over here. Like, it's already kind of covered in the agreements that we already have. And it's going to help generate more money right through your shit.
Starting point is 00:31:56 If it was on Apple, you could put the link right there to buy it, you know what I'm saying? But if one of y'all wanted to have a problem... It's still for y'all that we're going to have to tap out to. Yeah. Your Triller is not... is not that. No. I agree with that. of y'all wanted to have a problem. It's still for y'all that we're going to have to tap out to.
Starting point is 00:32:06 Triller is not that. No, I agree with that. Shout out to both Swizz and Timbaland. Ice and I were talking on the way here. I do not think this is the end of Versus. Do you think they'll just start renegading it?
Starting point is 00:32:23 They're out. Yeah, they're out. They're off to the next one. They left Apple, had to find out what they was going to do. They announced it. Yo, we're doing Triller. Here's a SPAC. Break some of this down. Give out 2% of how much equity they gave out to the creators.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Make it look good. I like how it looked. Yeah. It looked great. I got a little bit. Awesome. But now, where are you going next? Their mission is still the same.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Unless they fund it themselves and it don't seem like that's what they're trying to do you mean swiss and swiss and timberland is their shit i don't think it's still their shit that was my thing didn't they did they sell it's their shit if there are outs in both sides that protect both sides i'm in my theory i have swiss and timberland winning and and ending with uh ownership of their of their IP okay and their money do you still think
Starting point is 00:33:11 it holds the same value though it does yes I think it holds more value it does it does especially if it goes to a more convenient platform
Starting point is 00:33:19 versus it's still versus it's still it's still Swiss and Tim it's still their relationships that put this on. It's still their savvy. Like, they do this.
Starting point is 00:33:28 They're just looking for it. They're just talking to distributors. Apple was an amazing distributor. Thank you so much. It didn't work out here. We got a big bag from Triller. Oh, y'all don't have my bag? Give me my shit back.
Starting point is 00:33:38 All right, who's next? Who next? YouTube, what's up? Y'all see what we did? Revolt, what's up? Y'all see what we did? You can go. Netflix.
Starting point is 00:33:50 HBO. It's their shit when it's yours and that's the importance of ownership i'll spare you my important ownership rant because you niggas just go sign slave deals anyway uh yeah that's what they're doing i think i think that's how i think end. I think it has a value. I don't think it has the same value because I think what Triller is running into is a challenge in monetizing it. Yo, I had the best show on Complex and they told me they couldn't sell it. You know whose problem that is? Complex. You got to get with your ad. Who sells ads here? Let me go speak to them.
Starting point is 00:34:22 I can't speak for who Trilla's ad team is, but that is what would be said. You know what's the hard thing with that, though? With Trilla, with Complex, it was you and Ak and Nadeska, right? So we know what we're getting. With Trilla and marketing that, you never know who the artist's going to be.
Starting point is 00:34:39 So if I'm paying you some money, I'm going to pay you money again for Usher Chris Brown. I'm not going to give you the same monetary amount for I don't want to disrespect nobody but other acts. If you have the numbers that they have
Starting point is 00:34:52 and can show and can show how they did it that's out the window. But no, it's going like this though. But still. It's not. Which is why they made up that flyer
Starting point is 00:35:01 not made up but presented that flyer with the names blurred out. Because at the deal, I'm assuming, hey, what are we getting? You're getting this. Nine battles.
Starting point is 00:35:11 You don't have to know who's there. We're responsible to bring in this amount of numbers back. And even if it's the average, yo, this is the average of what we do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:19 That's still numbers. I agree with you. What I'm saying is... And it still falls, I want you to make your point, but that ad agency for Triller is important if the ad agency at complex can't deliver well hey spotify didn't have that problem i just think it's variables no i agree with you with with regards to your your complex talk i'm just saying with trilla i just think it's harder because i think it's
Starting point is 00:35:41 variables like what are we gonna pay the the artists? What if Amazon get versus? They have enough money to pay the artists whatever dollar amount they want. And they have a different ideology when it comes to ads. Right. We own half of America. True. Right. We are the ad.
Starting point is 00:35:58 We add. We're not calling people. That's right. They're calling us. That makes sense. It just depends on who you are partnering with that's true and at the end of this i think they'll find a new home hopefully it's too proven yeah yeah it's still value it's too proven it's too proven they're gonna check for it and i even
Starting point is 00:36:17 post pandemic it evolved yeah you know it went from it went from just instagram you on your phone me on my phone to to full out concerts. You're selling audience and they're proving that they can get audience. They've even got it live to the point where, again, I brought up Apple. All right, so now I'm going to partner with, what's the niggas that do a lot? Live Nation. It's just so many different things. Rolling Loud, you see them jumping
Starting point is 00:36:45 trying to make moves like this could go any way yeah this is the beginning of the road for Swiss and Tim with this property yeah really and we see what it's worth because that number
Starting point is 00:36:53 says 28 million dollars right no 28 that they owed yeah but they got they got no I think they got no they got 50 oh great
Starting point is 00:37:02 Trilla said they gave them 50 already yeah but all of that is we can, we don't know any of that. It's both sides. It's both sides arguing about money. But either way, the numbers they're throwing around tell you the value. It ain't chump. That's true.
Starting point is 00:37:15 It's far from chump, actually. I'm not getting 50 million in my last deal and then running down to 10 and 15 in the next one. That ain't how this one goes. Not to pocket watch, but that's where we are. Yeah, we are. Yeah, I'm not going from... I stopped watching Swiss House
Starting point is 00:37:30 when he was... I mean, Swiss Pockets when he was roller skating around the big fucking puppets in his living room and when I found out he lived in Iron Man's house. In Iron Man's house.
Starting point is 00:37:41 Hey, at some point, your pocket watching days have to end with some of these people they are out of here you can't keep up with it what hoves say that house is on my wall this little pretty art picture right here and now that i'm looking into black art boy it's expensive that's just so expensive i won't put some of that shit out outside and outside of the house let niggas know what's up.
Starting point is 00:38:06 Nah, for real. Black artists going crazy out here getting money. There's so many ways to get money out here. All right, I'll leave this show again. Come on, we out of here. Well, off of Versus, Diddy and Jermaine Dupri said they're going to face off in a hit versus hit. So it's not a Versus.
Starting point is 00:38:22 It's a Versus-less Versus. Yeah. No, it's a Trillaless versus yeah no it's a trilla-less versus versus-less versus yeah versus it ain't branded it ain't branded
Starting point is 00:38:30 no matter what it's a Swiss and Tim-less versus too it'll be branded though oh no I'll believe that it's gonna have a brand and there's gonna be
Starting point is 00:38:36 some spanky behind it if Puff and JD gonna put they name on it somebody gonna pay no question yo what's your fucking mind I'm glad to finally see it though I mean they've been
Starting point is 00:38:44 talking about this you know for I feel like years now come on JD mind you're going to pay. No question. You're out your fucking mind. I'm glad to finally see it though. They've been talking about this for I feel like years now. Come on, JD. Come on, JD, what? This nigga about to walk. He going to walk the plank? Excuse me?
Starting point is 00:39:01 You said he going to walk the plank? He going to get kicked off the plank. JD is JD. It's in Atlanta though I wouldn't care if it was in Augusta JD is JD though JD is JD JD is a man No question
Starting point is 00:39:13 They'll be clear I ain't done enough To be able to say a bad word About Jermaine Dupri He's on that list for me No he is definitely on that list JD gonna talk so much shit It's gonna be
Starting point is 00:39:21 You gotta be at a certain level To kick that nigga back in You ain't kicking I'm not I ain't That nigga is Top 10 All time
Starting point is 00:39:30 Don't make a man And pull out his Little Mariah shit Right Don't make him go His Mariah run No don't make him mad And start yelling
Starting point is 00:39:37 Nigga you ain't produced that You ain't do Like That The asshole will come out Yeah That's what I'm talking about Yes I did
Starting point is 00:39:44 Nigga I told him Put that cymbal right there You Yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Yes, I did. Nigga, I told him to put that cymbal right there. Ting, ting, ting. You hear that? That's me. I ain't produce it. I just jumped in the booth. I'm on most of these songs. That's right.
Starting point is 00:39:52 I'm Adler. Ha, ha, ha, ha. What you want? Yeah, yeah. That's my voice right there. As we broke. Yeah. That's me.
Starting point is 00:40:01 I don't care who did this beat. I'm in the booth on this smoker. Chucky or one of them niggas did it. But I said, take that. Take that. You gonna take that? All I said, beat I'm in the booth On this smoker Chucky or one of them niggas Did it But I said take that Take that You gonna take that All I said

Starting point is 00:40:40 I'm on Clubhouse beating them in verses with the Puff catalog I yeah no it's real I didn't know Clubhouse beating them in verses with the Puff catalog. Yeah. No, it's real. I didn't know Clubhouse still existed, really. You on Clubhouse?
Starting point is 00:40:51 That's an ad. You're doing too much. No. Keep it pushing. Keep it pushing. Doing too much now. Too much focus. Too much focus.
Starting point is 00:40:58 All right. So y'all didn't give y'all predictions for verses, verses, verses. Puff. It's Puff. No, not this verses. Verses, verses, Triller. Everybody versus versus versus. Puff. It's Puff. No, not this versus. Versus versus Triller. Everybody give a prediction. Come on.
Starting point is 00:41:09 I think they had a bit. Pick a side. Amazon, Apple, or I'm team versus. Either Amazon, Apple, or YouTube. No, I just think I'm asking in terms of this versus.
Starting point is 00:41:19 Who comes out on the better? Triller or versus? Versus. It's over for Triller. I think versus. In fact. I think this will be the nail in the coffin for Triller or Versus Versus it's over for Triller in fact I think
Starting point is 00:41:26 I think Triller doesn't have the resources they already got smoked by TikTok just to monetize it hang it up I just think
Starting point is 00:41:35 I don't know how they can make money Vine 2.0 it's over yeah I agree and I'm sure the gentlemen behind it they obviously created a big platform so they figure something else out
Starting point is 00:41:43 but that name and brand is probably, yeah. Well, I was home thinking, damn, if you offer a blank check and you only get 50 million of it, how mad would you be? In a year and a half. Ta-da. Well, and a settlement. And a settlement is coming.
Starting point is 00:42:04 Hold on. It's 50 million in cash and stock. We don't know how much was what. One. ta-da well and a settlement and a settlement is coming hold on it's 50 million in cash and stock we don't know how much was what one and they trying to go public
Starting point is 00:42:12 we don't know nigga that might not be that much that's a good one that's a very good point and we don't know if the 50 million included
Starting point is 00:42:21 production fees we don't know nothing about that 50 million and I think their response is worded that way for a reason.
Starting point is 00:42:29 We hate him. I know that fucking Even that Isley Brothers Earth, Wind & Fire cost a couple dollars to get them gentlemen out of bed on a Sunday. Listen.
Starting point is 00:42:40 You can say this for the culture if you want. Culture my wire, nigga. They had nurses in the back how much you think it cost to keep the ambulance back there the RNs the RNs
Starting point is 00:42:58 god damn nigga was looking at that shit like Oh he alive still Alright man Alright come on Holy shit Yo why y'all showing me Wayne Wonder yo I got a list of things to talk about
Starting point is 00:43:21 Before Wayne Wonder And ain't none of them important Now you got a gold plaque after 20 years. Huh? Excuse me? No letting go. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:32 No letting go just went gold after 20 years. That's impossible. I'm definitely calling Def Jam. Yeah, that sounds crazy. Check on my shit. That's impossible. Yeah, there's something wrong with that. That's impossible.
Starting point is 00:43:39 I know an extra 4,000 niggas boy pumping. I'm calling up here. Over 20 years, he got a point. You got to go back for them old plaques. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, what's that at now? Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Yeah, I'm still here. Hold up, fam. What? I don't know who bought it, but this shit right here has at least 100 million spins. No.
Starting point is 00:44:02 No, it don't. You crazy. It was stuck on. It was stuck on. It was stuck on. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. You know how you do with the old car? You roll the odometer
Starting point is 00:44:11 back a little bit? They hit them with that one, man. Yeah, yeah, they rolled it back. They rolled it back. No, you're not going to go. Probably some claws in there and then if it's a gold record after 20 years.
Starting point is 00:44:22 Wait, didn't they cancel this record? Nah. No. No. Nah. This is one of them good records they canceled. They canceled Nah. No. No. Nah. One of them good records they canceled. They canceled Boom Ba Ba.
Starting point is 00:44:27 Yeah. Yeah. That's what they canceled. That's what they canceled. There's a couple of them. Can you say that? Boom Ba Ba? You can say that.
Starting point is 00:44:33 I can say that part. You can't say nothing else. This right here is one of the most popular songs of the last... These new niggas are erasing these niggas' code catalogs.
Starting point is 00:44:45 Classics. There's erasing classics.as' code catalogs. Classics. Just erasing classics. They changing the scoreboard, boy. They used to go up in the park. What? Oh, these new niggas came out and said, you know what? We like what you said.
Starting point is 00:44:57 Wait, you're not on there spazzing, are you? Yo, you was going to get a headstand when that came on. Oh, man. And them T.O.K. records, too. Oh, man. Yo you was Are you smashing You was gonna get a headstand When that came on Right Oh man And them T.O.K. records too Oh man Wait the T.O.K. records Is out of here too Yes
Starting point is 00:45:11 You can't say that no more Nigga I don't know What they was saying In the first place Why do that apply to me I don't I never knew What they was saying
Starting point is 00:45:21 Oh man It's alright Go ahead saying. Oh, man. It's all right. Go ahead, yo. The T.O.K. song was Chi-Chi, man. I don't know what that is. Let's just leave it alone, then. Let's just leave it alone.
Starting point is 00:45:36 Ice is Jamaican. I know. Nigga, you been in... We just gonna move on. Yeah, yeah. We really gonna move on. Puff says R&B is dead. Puff also has an R&B album coming out. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:45:49 Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yo, I'm gonna put the resuscitation on it. No, you got an R&B whole label. Label, everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just, just. This is Ice's T-shirt. Yo, hold on for a minute.
Starting point is 00:46:01 It's on. Rob. Open that door, pass me my cape. We know you got it. Open that door back there and let me get my... We know you got it. Give me the blue one. Now you got to get the shiny one.
Starting point is 00:46:14 Yes, you got to get the shiny cape. Red Pleather. Okay, I think I got it. Thanks. You got to get the shiny cape. June Ambrose designed it for you. All right, you gentlemen were saying? What were you saying?
Starting point is 00:46:25 That Puff has an R&B album coming out. Label. Label coming out. Both facts. So for him to say R&B is dead, okay, we're going to push that narrative, and then guess who's going to resuscitate it? Old Puffster. Oh, good old Puff. So he didn't say that.
Starting point is 00:46:40 He didn't say I will resuscitate it. It's implied. It's implied. We are grown men. We're not going to say another nigga's implying. Come on. Let the girls do that. He didn't say I will resuscitate it. No, it's implied. We are grown men. We're not going to say another nigga's implying. Come on. Let the girls do that. Cool.
Starting point is 00:46:50 We're not being implied. We're men, yo. That cape is flat. You see this shit? I ain't want men to do that. I don't even see a fan. Charge me for what I said. Talk to me about the words that came out of my mouth.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Now what I implied. Ain't no way in the world that you can just leave mouth. Now what I implied. Now that I have your attention, I hope you all understand how important R&B is to our culture. Exclamation point. Exclamation point. We need more love. Hold up.
Starting point is 00:47:17 What's the name of said label? What's his name? His name is love now. We need more of me. Is that implication? That's how you interpret it? Yo, you good. Any nigga with some ears here.
Starting point is 00:47:34 Well, before he said any of this, the talk of the town, and I think the cover of Vibe, the cover of one of these shits is, hey, all here, the R&B toxic kings, but are they taking it too far? That's been the conversation. So I'm not interpreting love as him. I'm interpreting love as love, like not that toxic shit that they're doing. One. Two, I overstand all of your points. Valid.
Starting point is 00:47:57 Valid. They're facts. Album coming. But Puff has always been Mr. R&B. I know. That's why I don't understand y'all saying that. All of y'all know Puff to be Mr. R&B. I know. That's why I don't understand y'all saying that. All of y'all know Puff to be Mr. R&B. Puff is Mr. Mute.
Starting point is 00:48:08 It ain't like he just popping out of the blue and saying, yo, R&B is wack and this is why. He gave us Marry My Life, Marry Share My World, fucking, come on, we know what he did. We ain't got to do this. We don't got to run down the disc. Yeah, Summer Rain 112. I'm just saying he ain't a new nigga saying this at all
Starting point is 00:48:26 no doubt but is R&B wait wait time out let me ask each of you a question and the floor is yours Puff don't have a license to talk R&B to you
Starting point is 00:48:34 of course he does same question to you CDL that's what I said my answer is the same you PhD floor is yours
Starting point is 00:48:42 alright okay Puff is also a businessman yes or no hell of a marketer okay you took i was also a great marketer right fat okay so if i am to when he's announced remember this was supposed to be coming last year so if i'm gearing up to get ready yeah so we're here now if i'm gearing up to get ready to launch my label launch my R&B album change everything
Starting point is 00:49:07 what better way to do it than to get some get some talk like this going let's start a conversation a little combo and take no no no
Starting point is 00:49:12 hold on hold on what's a better way to get y'all attention about it okay cause that's what he said now that I got your attention
Starting point is 00:49:20 let me jump in that is my only beef with this let me hold on let me take my cape off that's my only beef with this. Let me take my cape off. That's my only beef with this.
Starting point is 00:49:28 Dr. Strange cape. That shit all by itself. He late. He late. Every week I'm seeing Sean Stockman say this, but it's Sean, boys to men, icon. Some of y'all don't know. Tank has been doing this since February, me and him.
Starting point is 00:49:42 B-Cock's been on the phone. John Tate. The R&B, B. Cox been on the phone, John Tate. The R&B niggas have been behind the scenes and trying to push this conversation. Correct. That's my issue with this. Now, why that's not an issue for me is you need a puff. You need the person on the next level to echo your sentiment and make it a national conversation. My other beef would be that there's a lot of good R&B.
Starting point is 00:50:03 It's just not elevated to the point of public awareness enough. Why is that? I argue that. I argue that. I don't. I see people say that. I do too. You play a lot of good R&B on this podcast.
Starting point is 00:50:13 It's new. It's not in bulk. I disagree. There's no one genre of music that's just putting out great shit in bulk. It ain't about quality of music no more. It's about the algorithms. No, it's about no that's what they're playing no they can market but it's affecting the music so now people ain't going in the studio saying i want to put my heart and my soul in and i want to put this pain on this record and i want to put this amazing music out i want to argue that people are going
Starting point is 00:50:40 to the studio i want to argue that i them finish those who are there's still some artists out there i'm not saying no one but people are going into the studio and as directed by these labels yo i need something that i could sell that i could make go viral here that i could do this and they got to play that game so let me ask you this right yes if if india iree jill scott brian mcknight put out an album tomorrow do you you think they're playing an algorithmic game? No. I just said there are artists still. But those same artists could put out an amazing project and we won't support it.
Starting point is 00:51:12 Let me ask you. A lot of people won't hear it. Forget support it. That's true. Because the algorithms are not putting it on their playlists. It's the algorithmic game. But everybody don't necessarily get their... I come in here,
Starting point is 00:51:28 we all responsible for a sleeper every week. And y'all crack on me sometimes with the sleepers that I find because some of these sleepers might have 100 views. That's not why we crack on you. Yeah, you don't even know why we crack on you.
Starting point is 00:51:37 That's not why we crack on you. No, Ice, the other, last week I played a sleeper, Ice wrote, where'd you find this? Because it only had 245. That wasn't the joke.
Starting point is 00:51:46 That wasn't the joke. And we shouldn't expose the joke. You got a good operation going on. Just make your point. Just make your point, young gang. Just make your point, young gang. Brand rising. Get your shit off.
Starting point is 00:52:02 What's wrong? He can really see what they have to offer. You know what I mean like good eye for talent anyway right so but back to that sometimes when the belt is in the groove
Starting point is 00:52:11 just let the belt go he got a good belt going however you doing it what I'm look but what I'm saying is some of those sleepers
Starting point is 00:52:18 I'll find based on something that I'm already listening to you get what I'm saying so it could be an artist that nobody ever heard of but it's a similar type of music and they'll recommend it to you get what i'm saying so it could be an artist that nobody ever heard of but it's a similar type of music and they'll recommend it to you so if you listen in the
Starting point is 00:52:29 quality shit more quality shit is going to be recommended to you sometimes and let me jump in here let me jump in let me jump in let me jump in let me jump in and argue issues point a different as genres and cultures i am holding you to how how it was at inception of you if you are a rapper and you can't get on a mic in a park and say things and get shit done i'm looking at you funny rap was never rap we beef and rap now that it's algorithmic because that's not how we started right right the same for me exists in rmb my beef now is if you are rmb and you're playing the algorithm game that's not how this started rmb was the church the open mic the panhandler singing. It was singing, a microphone singing.
Starting point is 00:53:29 Maybe not even a mic. Yeah, word. Yeah, train stations. Not one synthesizer in sight. Now, I don't apply that to white formats, because from the start, they always had radio. They always had video. Our soul singers had to go play the clubs you just had to use your voice yo you opening up a different level of conversation but i mean
Starting point is 00:53:53 but that's where this is the new age version of that so when puff was explaining himself he said name me five singers today that can sing without auto-tune that is a valid question in this r&b conversation but the ones that can sing and that would put out a good project we won't support don't say we don't say we don't say we i'm broadly speaking the masses might not hear it it might be dope shit to tank's point to tank's point now tanks i'm gonna ask you a question after that good tanks out on dream champs and he quoted sam smith's song right yes dope song i think all of us can attest to sam smith being a pretty good artist yeah sam how does he sell a shit ton of records but if tank said if he had the same exact project he wouldn't be as
Starting point is 00:54:45 successful so now you start looking at what's pushing that artist somebody still gotta buy it no they don't today they really don't look at the yo look at these numbers today when you when these sales numbers come out it'd be like this person did 60 000 first week right 18 000 be sales okay they're not buying music but you know what's gonna show when that nigga hit the tour bus it's oh no i agree because you can't fake them asses in the seats i agree with you 100 there's there's access number one album of the week that can't tour so what i'm saying now is there's an appreciation for a certain type of music because when a nigga go on tour adele is selling out tours and i mean but the the tanks the these are people that have long fan bases that have they have fed for a while
Starting point is 00:55:38 they have real fans a brand new artist today is hard for them they're up against the machine ice ice ice ice stop everyone stop everyone stop everyone everyone stop for a second jesus it's tough all right it's them first week numbers and the projections and the sales of the project from the people that just much like the billboard spots much like the grammys who is that for that's for the labels that's for the labels's for the labels. That's for the labels. Yeah, that's all label shit. It's for the labels. Of course.
Starting point is 00:56:06 That's who that's for. And it's fake most of the time. And because the labels got to play that game. The independent R&B artists, and trust me, there's many of them out there because if you look at the bottom
Starting point is 00:56:17 of your favorite joint... It's their name. Yeah, it's some other shit written down there. It ain't the label. We never hear what you're saying about those artists we never hear a such asian did this her first week we don't never hear cleo sold this her first week
Starting point is 00:56:33 we don't hear none of that nobody game but they're not playing that game because they're looking at a different set of numbers when some shit come back so yeah we so it's not so yeah so but in y'all conversation it's just right. They got to go on the road and get that money. Y'all both right. But in my conversation, a road, no, we're seeing value from all over the place because we're not doing what you're saying needs to be done here. So we don't need to sell. You don't need to acquiesce and bust your ass and do TikTok and clout chasing.
Starting point is 00:57:03 No, look. your ass and and do tiktok and clout chasing no and and and wait pot stirred to have a interesting conversation or uh trauma bond or stirred emotional pot you don't need to do none of that when the music is good that's true i agree and you didn't sign your likeness away and your publishing away and your fucking foot uh in perpetuity if you're not moving like that you don't have to become a slave to the game that you keep describing is all i'm saying now what i'm saying is when everybody keeps saying killed r&b they talking about the popular shit that they seeing at the top levels they're not talking about those are those artists and acts that y'all list exist they're gonna always exist yo and you know what they are yeah but you know what happens the people that are doing it this way rely on the ways that
Starting point is 00:57:46 independent great music makers do word of mouth fucking uh a hot tune here that's what happens so let me ask you all a question let me let me let me wait no no but wait i'm a pillow fight last week two weeks i know but y'all won't let me finish my point every time last week or whatever that was i'm going to a strip club with Young Bird. He says, put on your hottest R&B person. You know he's industry executive, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I start just throwing names.
Starting point is 00:58:13 He ain't know him. No, he don't know him. He's knee deep in the fucking industry. Now I'm on my fifth, sixth, and seventh hard Cleo soul song. And he's just unfamiliar. He didn't know. But, yo, I'm leaving here. I'm going to go do my research.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Oh, she's a part of Salt. All of that. The same thing got to happen for somebody like a Puff. Yes. And who Puff kind of, Puff got Stacey Barf with him. Stacey, I love you.
Starting point is 00:58:38 Puff got Stacey with him. Like, the people we naming should have people around them to point out the who's who's what's and what's that's what an A&R used to be right
Starting point is 00:58:47 the person to come to the executive and say this is what you need him right here they not gonna fucking know
Starting point is 00:58:54 hang on though the fans kill me yo y'all didn't break down such and such nigga I'm busy I didn't hear it maybe you not seeing the lane I'm trying to go in
Starting point is 00:59:04 I ain't sitting around listening to albums you need somebody around you that's kind of what i've been saying that's what i'm saying like because it's not i thought i was smoking you fuck no you're not smoking you're saying the same thing somebody like a puff because i don't have anybody around to point that out to me i might think r&B is dead because I don't hear it. Even though they are going to continue making, yo, don't ask the Cleo Souls and all of them. They never going to stop.
Starting point is 00:59:31 There's going to be more of them next year. They're going to keep coming with that same music. But if nobody shine a light on it, niggas ain't going to hear it. Tank is retiring. Know why that's so sad to me? Because that's one nigga off my list
Starting point is 00:59:43 of people I can always count on to get R&B from. Except for that one album he tried to bug out. But I can always count on him to do this. Exactly this. Listen to it. The whole thing. And shout out to Cardiac. You're back again, goddammit, with fucking number four.
Starting point is 01:00:03 No limit. He's good. Cardiac's good. Friend of the show. Friend of the show. No limit. He's good. Cardiac's good. Friend of the show. Yeah, Cardiac got some shit. He all over Tink joined, too. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Good talk. Yeah? I don't think R&B
Starting point is 01:00:17 is dead. Not even close. I think A&R is dead. I was about to say, I think A&R is out here stealing money and young niggas... No, they're not stealing money. They're just playing a different game. I look at the job postings for them, and it's data. They want data. That's my point.
Starting point is 01:00:30 So now you're going to go get yourself hot on Instagram, and we're going to find a nigga that's already hot on Instagram and bring him to the label instead of finding a true talented nigga that might be a little quirky. We got to work on his image, but he's talented.
Starting point is 01:00:42 You get what I'm saying? So we're going to bring him some nigga from... from because the when you're talking a and r to the label it's that anytime you say label it's the algorithm algorithmic game unfortunately as opposed to the talent game as opposed to the talent game and that's what i've been saying they're in the business of selling they are in the business and unfortunately for today what sells the record is the algorithms. Brent's reply to all this was that sub-genres are dead. Just create a vibe, put it out. I actually saw, I forgot what the podcast was, but they was talking about that.
Starting point is 01:01:17 In the future, maybe near future, music may be genre-less and mood-based instead of genre-based. I kind of see that happening. This is R&B. That makes sense. This is chill. This is up-tempo. This is aggressive. Yo, that's what they...
Starting point is 01:01:31 If you go look at... Go look at any of these streaming services. They literally have the playlist named that. Yeah, exactly. This is the chill playlist. It's lit.
Starting point is 01:01:42 It's this. It's this. And that's all it is. It's all different type of music for that this and that's all it is it's all different type of music for that move that's the game they playing now and that's the game that all the majors rmb ain't dead but it's severely injured i don't think it's that either it's a little bruised up name me 10 right now and stop man fam i'm not an rmb guy first off that's not my that's not my that's not my main genre to listen to but what i'm saying is dead and not being pushed by those the the labels the algorithms is two different things
Starting point is 01:02:14 if you're not playing that game like the artist you named and they still out here getting it independently and doing it their way it's not dead to them let me ask you does that come into fandom and doing it their way, it's not dead to them. Let me ask you, does that come into fandom? What you mean? I just keep saying this.
Starting point is 01:02:29 There's a fan out here that wants certain shit. Yeah. Cool. Certain artists are putting out R&B shit. Exactly what you want. Exactly what you want. And some of them
Starting point is 01:02:41 are making great money from doing it. Why aren't the other people making great money? At some point, I think it's a fan thing and who your demo is. So how do we describe Ed Sheeran? You're naming people that are signed to majors, first off. And that plays a major part in that. When you say Adele and Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran,
Starting point is 01:03:04 these are people signed to majors that they saw that they could market we can get you the right song and we can market it and blow it up so why can't they do that
Starting point is 01:03:12 for somebody else they can do it for whoever they want they just choose not to yeah cause it's easier to find the guy that is already
Starting point is 01:03:19 figuring out how to get popular on his own and get people to interact he's hot on the internet half the work is done yeah it's unfortunate but that's that's the game. Yeah. Half the work is done. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:26 It's unfortunate, but that's the game. That's the game. They don't want to develop no artists no more. Yo, come to us with a hit. Come to us buzzing in the streets. Come to us buzzing on the internet. How many followers you got?
Starting point is 01:03:37 What's your... They looking at your numbers. What's your impressions? What's this? What's that? Okay, cool. Now we can work with you. Otherwise,
Starting point is 01:03:43 go get your numbers up before you fuck with us. Go out there, work's sad but that's not good business i don't know the music business i look at that as shitty business i me personally the major label business is i think fairly generally looked at as shitty business i'm talking about but they still in business to make bread no doubt so when you establish a long-term artist you're gonna eat off that artist for a long time the label is ish what they keep trying to tell you in very nice ways is there's not very many people that the label is looking at to establish as a long-term artist the people that y'all named adele and Ed Sheeran are long term artists for the label
Starting point is 01:04:25 how'd they get there? don't ask me cause I'll turn into something else up here no I'm just saying I kinda was steering us that way I'll turn into something else
Starting point is 01:04:37 no I was steering us that way but alright it's cool I just think we it's a market for everything. There is. There absolutely is.
Starting point is 01:04:49 Better find yours. Take it off of R&B. We all have our, especially me and Parks, have our different sub-genres of rap that we listen to. The sub-genre that Parks listens to ain't the most popular. It ain't listed everywhere. But them dudes is eating. Eating. Touring.
Starting point is 01:05:08 Merch. Independent. Vinyl. Eating. Probably making more than the niggas that I listen to. Eating is relative. But go ahead. No, no.
Starting point is 01:05:17 Okay. But they not. He'll play some shit that a lot of people ain't heard. Never. Who the fuck is this so that's like for someone to now say listening to the shit especially what i listen to or the auto-tuned rap or any of that that's been popular as of late to say damn your rap is dead remember when it used to be this no it's not it still exists it's just that the companies that now own rap that own music
Starting point is 01:05:42 ain't pushing it that's really what it all boils down until it hits a certain point then they're gonna come in scoop it up water it down or do whatever they want to do to it and now we're gonna run try it for a little bit and then toss it aside that's it we duck in the smoke please please explain yeah what's the smoke is i don't never want to duck smoke and if there's any nigga out there that think I'm ducking smoke tell me cause I want to tiptoe
Starting point is 01:06:08 to that smoke I just think I just think that certain certain demos I think your appearance plays a huge part Elvis yup
Starting point is 01:06:20 yeah I think your I think I think that your your appearance plays and to me today music, your appearance and your outer persona plays too much a part in your success. I just think that. I think it's not about the quality of the music no more. It's about what we can market. And your physical and your outer appearance plays into marketing, of course, as it should. And that's where the tables tip. I mean, the scales tip to me. And that's kind of my, and that's kind of,
Starting point is 01:06:49 to piggyback off of Isha's point, I agree with him, one. And two, unfortunately, the same holds true for our niggerness. True. Like, the more you step into the niggerness, and that's not a word, of course, but. We celebrate niggerocity. We do. The more you step into the niggerness and that's not a word of course but we celebrate niggerocity we do
Starting point is 01:07:06 and so when you step into that you can be successful but if you stray or stray away from that enough and are fortunate enough to be hand selected then you have a different route planned for a different path planned out for you for a whole different demo so true but that's my beef with rmb rmb never had to acquiesce to nigger them true there you go that wasn't y'all there you go they got to come in and say why don't we go yo you're good to the end of yo nigga i wasn't in no relationship but was sad i couldn't i couldn't word it the way you word yo when Jodeci Cry For You came out I wasn't in no relationship
Starting point is 01:07:46 I sad like it's certain SWV week came out I might have been a little weak but that shit hit me I get so
Starting point is 01:07:55 weak in the me I'm the Simon I lose all control but that's what all the girls do they never do the
Starting point is 01:08:02 worst of their hook they sing I get so weak in the knees. I'm a son in me. I lose all control. And something said over me. Nah, they knew that. Come on, dog.
Starting point is 01:08:13 They knew that. They just learned that at these new age R&B parties. I'm talking about the 90s. They didn't know what the fuck they were saying. They know the words now because Tidal put them up there. Genius put them up there. I'm talking about when the song was out. So today, R&B artists, you get looked like some bitch-ass nigga if you make any time cory off mic said
Starting point is 01:08:31 tory lanes uh he don't like tory lanes talking to puff because tory lanes wouldn't make making the band i counter that point with yes he would he wouldn't have been in the band he'd have been in that studio he would have been working behind the scenes like Shorty teaching him the dance moves. He would have been Puff's number one man to have them in the studio because he can create the song.
Starting point is 01:08:51 So he would have been there. I also counter y'all point about Tory, even though I know what y'all trying to say. You can't use auto-tune the way he uses it without being able
Starting point is 01:09:01 to somewhat sing. That's next. It's not possible. You can tell the difference. I'm not saying that he can't sing at all. Yeah, you can't use that thing like that. So he might not be Freddie Jackson, but he ain't some of these other people
Starting point is 01:09:15 that's playing around with his auto-tune thing. Thanks. Icahola Notin got on that auto-tune and was all fucked up. That shit was sounding like Mr. Robot or somebody. You can sing, though. Yeah yeah you can sing a little bit but you gotta know there's a gift in that but if you sat in the studio and played around with it for a week auto auto tune what happened you sounded like a motherfucking i'm just but i'm pointed out to the novice that's never tried to
Starting point is 01:09:40 sing that way they don't know they just hear the finished product, which is music. they don't know the difference. Yeah. Which is most people, by the way. But even in the Tory argument, his musicianship supersedes most. That nigga can make songs.
Starting point is 01:09:56 Yo, y'all didn't know. A lot of these niggas today can sing. They that can't necessarily make songs. Y'all didn't know Bobby Caldwell was white.
Starting point is 01:10:02 So, why I'm talking to y'all about R&B? Like, it's a few, it's a few little r&b facts that y'all be confused about where it's like why am i talking to you about this yo sean stockman called me the other day i was with my son he was with his wife joe off the record can i just speak to you so honored well i'm honored anytime somebody that i put on my christmas list in 91 hey this album like speaks to me bun b scarface uh puff another anybody that i was rushing to the store for that values my opinion i'm honored in that Especially when they know that they could call me to have like a heart to heart
Starting point is 01:10:47 because I care about music. See, you get back what you put out. That's also in this argument. In R&B, if you stop caring about the algorithm and the TikTok and the fans and put out what's truly in your heart to put out, you'll be all right. That applies to all genres.
Starting point is 01:11:04 And I think the numbers come. That's all the applies to all genres. And I think the numbers come. That's all the way across the board. And I think the numbers come. Division on Twitter hit me or was hitting a fan back. And he was like, you know, Joe just got to stand in being wrong when he wrong.
Starting point is 01:11:17 Like he ain't going to never come back and say I was wrong. And I said, hey, no, time will tell if I'm wrong. I'll come back and say I'm wrong. And then he replied with all of these stats yo this is the most
Starting point is 01:11:29 talked about song in the last five years yo this is the most played song over the weekend over June this is the most played song
Starting point is 01:11:35 he replied with all of these little robot stats and I read that shit and said what the fuck do that have to do with my point
Starting point is 01:11:42 that's them Braun stats I mean Braun got real stats too but you know they'll come out What the fuck do that have to do with my point? That's them bronze stats. I mean, Bron got real stats, too. No, but you know, they'll come out with the... Yo, he has the most 50-point game with five assists in the month of December. Also about to break that Remy. Also about to break that Remy. Huh?
Starting point is 01:12:02 Huh, Mike fans? What the fuck about that Mike shit, yo? I don't want to hear that Mike Jordan shit no more, yo. Quiet on that, man. Quiet on that Mike shit, yo. I'm about to break the Remy in the first three months of the season. Yo, highest paid player ever. Most points ever.
Starting point is 01:12:22 Most playoff games ever. Most years ever played. My son is in the league. I'm ushering in. Don't talk to me about Mike no more. What he did against Craig Elo and them? Talk to me about that shit, yo. I got all the Jordan 3s I need, all right?
Starting point is 01:12:37 I got all the cement 3s I need, all right? I love riling up the old niggas. Look at the old niggas. Go ahead, get your shirt You're on a podcast Don't look at me This ain't a look cast But look
Starting point is 01:12:48 Yo The same shit you do You love riling up the old niggas That's what that R&B argument is It's the same shit bro They ain't riling me up Yo It ain't
Starting point is 01:12:55 It is Let me tell you why it ain't Let me help y'all The young niggas can't They don't have a brawn Know why you can't rile me up I wish I could scroll I got all R&B albums.
Starting point is 01:13:06 All of the niggas that can sing, I buy it. I'm just scrolling. I don't have to look. Most of this is R&B. It's all R&B. Niggas you never heard of.
Starting point is 01:13:14 Nigga that came out yesterday. I'm waiting on Tempest right now. She just got a deal. I'm waiting on nigga. I'm waiting on the future new crop. You 2014 to 2020 niggas, y'all had y'all shot know what y'all
Starting point is 01:13:26 did put out one fucking project that's what y'all did the fuck are we talking about r&b is alive y'all got it and put out two minute two packs i ain't trying to rile up old niggas you niggas stop doing the work the game changed for them good go get it. I support everybody going to get it. The game changed for them. But the music lovers will judge on music lover judgments. Understandable. Not this new shit. Metrics. Not this new shit going on.
Starting point is 01:13:56 Uh-uh. Two turntables and a mic. Rules still in effect. Facts. Sedgwick Ab. Rules still in effect, yo. Rules are still in effect. If you changing that shit, you doing that for
Starting point is 01:14:05 the people that I used to talk about. The mainstream. Yeah. And if we talking about the mainstream people, most y'all trash. Y'all are bad. Nah, I'm with you there. Y'all are bad. That part. Huh? I have Leon Bridges. I know what's good. I've heard Raheem Devon before.
Starting point is 01:14:23 I know what's good and what's bad. It's me, yo. I talk R&B with any of you niggas. The fuck is we talking about? Niggas is horrible. Yo, what's your problem? Y'all so bad, I got to wait two years for SZA. More than two years.
Starting point is 01:14:38 More than two years. But I'm saying two years since when I thought she was coming out. I'm still waiting. Whenever it come, it come. That's how bad y'all are. Y'all sunk. Yo, that was his response? I didn't see that.
Starting point is 01:14:50 That was terrible. No, that's marketing. I'm not mad at the marketers. You right. Market, I don't want to seem like a hater. That is the game that they're playing. I'm not mad at the marketers. Get y'all shit off.
Starting point is 01:15:02 But when the music lovers start talking, mind y'all fucking business. Stay Get y'all shit off. But when the music lovers start talking, mind y'all fucking business. Stay on y'all side of the club, and we'll stay on our side of the club. We don't care what y'all do over there. But I'm talking about music. As far as artists, I don't give enough of a fuck about most of y'all. Some of y'all make really great tunes, though. And that's why I'm here.
Starting point is 01:15:27 That needed to be said, too, be said too man you gave it to him yeah that's true I thought Sean was gonna tell us what Sean said I would never say what Sean said but the point was niggas that let be we having long talks behind the scenes about
Starting point is 01:15:42 yo what's up man yo what's up, man? Yo, what's going on? That's when I could really get geeky. You already started that fucking song. That's when I really turned up. You know what the fuck? When I was at Bridge,
Starting point is 01:15:56 the second quarter. Yeah, man, enough. Enough. Enough. And some of y'all, I opened this seat to, not most of y'all, but some of y'all. But I know R&B is dead y'all but some of y'all but i know r&b is
Starting point is 01:16:05 dead because look at what the niggas that could sing have to do i said that about division hey jock we start trying to sing over other niggas shit y'all laughed him out the gym i don't want to hear that y'all niggas love r&b anyway i do believe puff loves r&b he uh he added on to the conversation throw me a water out of there please he added on to the Anyway I do believe Puff loves R&B Okay Breathe, yo He added on to the conversation Throw me a water out of there, please He added on to the conversation
Starting point is 01:16:30 While we were potting He said He added billboard and said Why was the R&B and hip-hop Put on the same chart To compete with each other What'd you say, Parks? Oh, it's right there
Starting point is 01:16:41 He said Why was R&B and hip-hop Put on the same chart To compete with each other Can someone in charge over there explain to us why this is why the niggas like me have to applaud
Starting point is 01:16:49 when Puff gets involved because Puff could call the person that creates billboard nah he can make change yeah he can make change that's a very valid question though
Starting point is 01:16:56 he can make change you know the answer to that race y'all take the nigga shit we'll take this Y'all take the nigga shit We'll take this That's all it is We'll give you a number one
Starting point is 01:17:11 But with a little asterisk next to it You can get number one over here We don't worry about this This chart over here It's our shit It's all it is Bro it's a game So you need disruptors And it's really to keep the I'm not mad at you It's really it is, bro. It's a game. So you need
Starting point is 01:17:25 disruptors. And it's really to keep the middle class down, actually, because artists in both R&B
Starting point is 01:17:33 and hip-hop that would normally chart in the top ten or top five get pushed down because it's
Starting point is 01:17:38 both of them lumped together. So someone that may get that notoriety and the accolade of being a top ten artist
Starting point is 01:17:43 gets pushed out because now I'm competing with Brent Fires or whoever the fuck else is over here. That's a good one. That's a good one. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:50 So the cream of the crop is still up there, but you push out the middle class. I don't know what went into that process. I met the criteria to be selected,
Starting point is 01:18:01 but I wasn't. It's the good R&B niggas. Niggas take a sink. They got to stand outside the club. All right. Come on. Y'all got me riled up enough. Somebody else turn to take us out of here.
Starting point is 01:18:12 Come on. Say something wild. We did it, huh? Somebody say something wild and crazy. Shoot these numbers through the roof. Fucking bazooka out of here on these dudes. One Puff album dropping? We don't know.
Starting point is 01:18:24 Yeah, we don't know yet. I'm waiting on Puff. I'm waiting on Usher. That's another one. Been toying around for a minute. Usher ain't about to play. Yeah, he's not about to play at all. Nah.
Starting point is 01:18:34 Every clip that you see just look like, yeah, we can already go up. You think he's skating like that for nothing? You skate like that when you got some shit on the way. And you know it, too. He ain't skating like, yo, I got to get back to the studio at 9. He's skating like, yo, what's up for the weekend? He outside. You know what they just did in the studio?
Starting point is 01:18:56 That is a real good feeling when you leave the studio after smoking something. Absolutely. And then you get to go to sleep and wake up in the morning and listen to it again because it sounds better in the morning. Oh, my Lord. And when it sounds better in the morning? my lord Sound better You couldn't do that Who? You I did that all the time
Starting point is 01:19:10 No There was a step in between That you missed You got home and put it out Word This nigga Joe get home And it's uploaded What you doing?
Starting point is 01:19:21 I was the first uploader I was the first stream farm. You was the first leaguer. Upload that shit up all, a few places. Make sure this is up. All right. Tank dropped.
Starting point is 01:19:35 I know we're supposed to be off of music, but here we are, not off of music. All right. And it's good. Standout tracks? Or does the whole thing just go? Whole thing is a vibe.
Starting point is 01:19:51 If you like singing and, like, notes hit where they're supposed to be hit. And harmonies that match each other. Everything on key. Dance synchronized. That's crazy. Dancing with each other. If you like that type of R&B man take out something for you to
Starting point is 01:20:22 Real big dope lay it down, you can't be saved Ain't nothing short about the rules It's the long way I'm coming back in disruptive I'm coming back in disruptive You've been playing on the undercard This the main event You've been wishing on a star
Starting point is 01:20:39 Take my man, but he might have slept on Alex Isley on his joint She came in smoking I'ma need plenty of it I don't just like, I love it But he might have slept on Alex Isley on his joint. She came in smoking I'm not for that need I stir with the deep You can do nothing with it The whole album is this vibe Like mid A lot of pianos A lot of harmonies A lot of R&B So you know
Starting point is 01:21:11 When we spoke to him And he was saying how He listens to Like Hip hop That's drip too hard You get that Well yeah we know
Starting point is 01:21:18 And it's just like You can see what he did Unfortunate that he feels like He has to Yeah that's the bad part You remember my every move. And forget your... She might have smoked your boots on this one.
Starting point is 01:21:30 Ain't no singles anywhere, but I still make you rage. You've been playing on the undercards. It's the main event. Yeah, turn this off. She smoked your boots. I would call you and tell you, but I ain't mad at you because you also did this on this album. This one, I knew he wasn't going to play.
Starting point is 01:21:48 They smoked this, him and J. Valentine. Slow. Off this album. We played it here, so I won't leave it on. But just to prove a point. Then I'm coming in disruptive. Mmm. Mmm.
Starting point is 01:22:16 Yeah. Oh man, turn this off here. Turn this off here. What she did? She knew what she came to do. You know how much fucking I be doing in Greece? I'm out of here. I'm gone. I'm going to hire a photographer to tape me. Hey, tape this move.
Starting point is 01:22:31 I might have to get wild for 42, 42 bud. I might have to get wild for 42 bud. Look, they hating now. Don't say that. Wild. I can't be 42 bud. It's crazy. 42 bud. Look, they hating now. Don't say that. Wow, I can't be a 42 bud. It's crazy. 42 bud.
Starting point is 01:22:48 All right, gentlemen. Let's do it. What's up? We're discussing birthday captions. Birthday captions for your significant other. I feel like the birds drop need to just at some point. But go ahead. On the birthday captions?

Starting point is 01:26:04 But then a few hours later, I pick up my phone and see that a few other people sent it to mad people, and then went on about my business. But then a few hours later, I pick up my phone and see that a few other people found this just as funny as I. They did. You ain't sent it to me and I got it twice. So I'm going to read it

The dedication and pressure you applied to me from before you met me is something no one could ignore. But the more pressure you applied, the more scared I got to get to know you. Best thing that happened was getting stuck with you For weeks in Mexico After you hid my passport And acted like I had lost it LOL

Starting point is 01:37:52 contemplate um well um uh well you know there's a lot of money in TV but I've obviously been doing music for a long time so you know money that i've touched in television is you know you've been doing tv for a little while no but the tv projections yeah you know i'm saying like it definitely has increased like my first job on mr robot i was probably making something like five thousand an episode five to seven thousand dollars an episode or something like that is that that was your first job though Yeah that was my first job You know what I'm saying
Starting point is 01:38:27 That's the joint that really Opened the door for me Shout out to Sam Esmail I didn't even know you won Mr. Robot But I haven't watched Mr. Robot Yeah Mr. Robot has won Emmys Great show
Starting point is 01:38:36 So not only is Joey Badass Oscar adjacent But he's also Emmy adjacent You know what I'm saying Soon to be Grammy adjacent Or winning What I have learned about artists and television stars is they don't even come here until they could talk like this Jason yeah when it's time to really talk to y'all this is what I don't feel it's true it's true you know I'm saying cuz it's
Starting point is 01:38:59 like you know I ain't it's there so how many but how many shows have you been on so I've been on Mr. Robot did Wu-Tang did Boomerang I did Beauty with Lena Waithe I did Two Distant Strangers
Starting point is 01:39:13 the short film that one which was Oscar number it won the Oscar my bad my bad can I get another one of those
Starting point is 01:39:22 there we go. Don't disrespect Mr. Badass again. Mr. Badass. Yeah, Mr. Badass. There's a difference between being nominated and winning. Leonardo DiCaprio can tell you that. Yo. Hey, yo, I'm with you.
Starting point is 01:39:37 I see what you're saying. Every time niggas come here. Yo, Leo will tell you. Leo can tell you that. Nah, he's talking to him. My nigga Leo can tell you that. Oh, man. I ain't got no question.
Starting point is 01:39:48 Somebody else do some shit. Where'd you put the Oscar, man? What did I what? Where'd you put the statue? I actually don't have one. So that's why I said Oscar adjacent. Because the film won the Oscar. But I starred in the film.
Starting point is 01:40:00 That's some bullshit. I like to believe that. They just gave you one of the little papers. Hey, nah Hey nah nah nah They gave you a certificate Or something Send me my Oscar The directors actually
Starting point is 01:40:09 Won the Oscar So is in Trayvon Free And Martin Desmond Rose And we got the director's address Of course So we can pull up to him Oh yeah yeah I've already stole it
Starting point is 01:40:19 For a couple days You know a couple weeks You know what I'm saying And I sent it back Very nicely No scuffs and everything Shout out to my boy Trayvon Nah they gotta change that rule man
Starting point is 01:40:27 What is on Yeah I'll be hot Yeah Yeah I mean you know It was whatever I'm thinking about Getting a replica anyway
Starting point is 01:40:33 You know what I'm saying Just having a crib I mean If y'all come to my crib And y'all see the replica Ain't nobody gonna think it's fake Nah it's a fact Until now
Starting point is 01:40:40 Watching this interview But I still don't care You still ain't going Who are you These rappers don't care about replicas. All right, so talk to me about what the visibility has done for your visibility. Rap groupies versus TV groupies. Man.
Starting point is 01:40:59 Rap outings versus TV outings. Did I say Grayson Canaan? You started, yes. I thought you did. No, I didn't cut you off before. Yeah, well... That's my bad. That role has been definitely like a defining role for me because...
Starting point is 01:41:12 So, you know, when I came into TV and film, I made it a thing that I didn't want to do. I didn't want to take on a role as a rapper or a street person. You know what I'm saying? Because, one, I was already a rapper, you know what I'm saying? I was too on the nose. And then with being a street nigga and some shit, it's like I didn't want to get pigeonholed. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:41:34 I felt like that was easy. When it comes to acting and being a rapper and trying to transition, it's like everybody want that Bishop role right away. But I made it a thing that I didn't want to play any of those roles because I really wanted to show people that I could act you know because I was a theater student in high school for the first two years so like you know I was really on that path or whatever but I learned quickly that that shit was damn near impossible like I was one out of three black kids in the whole joint and it's like you know it was a culture shock for me because it was the first
Starting point is 01:42:04 time I was going to school with white people and stuff like that so i just really couldn't hang i decided that you know i would just double down on music and i'll use that as my leverage in the future and that's ultimately what i did i didn't have no idea you did all that shit yeah oh you been getting tv money from anil yeah it's been as um 2014 that's when it started so what is the biggest lesson that you've learned from tv that you didn't get from music that's where my fascination lies biggest lesson that i learned from um yeah because a lot of music rules you could take with you in other places but in some places you got to learn some new shit that wasn't there before like what has that been in tv and film for you well i i guess with the tv and film shit like
Starting point is 01:42:51 there's way more patience involved you know i'm saying like it's way more work to be an actor than it is to be a rapper especially if you're playing the lead character or something now you had acting coaches when they had to school or that shit? No, no, no. I went to an acting coach one time in my life. And that was for some shit I was doing an audition for that I actually didn't even get. What was the audition? I can't remember.
Starting point is 01:43:15 Some shit mad long ago. You know what I'm saying? I mean, honestly, it might have been Mr. Robot. I'm not clear. I'm not sure. But I went to an acting class one time. And I was in high school in a theater program so like they would teach us you know what i'm saying basic stuff
Starting point is 01:43:31 like that and we had to participate in like a play or a musical or something like that does the acting help your music career absolutely and the biggest way it helps it is it gives me more freedom you know saying music started to pile on top of me like as far as pressure goes as like a job something that I had to do to sustain and you know I'm saying like despite it being something that I'd love to do it also became something that I needed to do to get by and to survive but once you know the acting success came it made music easier because now it feels like the beginning again. needed to do to get by and to survive. But once the acting success came, it made music easier because now it
Starting point is 01:44:07 feels like the beginning again. It's fun again. It's fun again. I'm just doing what I want to do. I ain't got to make a record for nobody. I ain't got to try to satisfy my label. I'm like, nah, I'm Joey, and I got this going on, and I got this going on.
Starting point is 01:44:21 It's true freedom. Yeah, exactly. It's freedom. So I'm just out here doing what I want to do. It's like, you know, it's like a side chick and a main chick. That's good. No, you're talking here. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:44:34 And like, you know, a lot of times what you will find is sometimes a side chick makes you better for your main chick. This boy talking. That was Joey Badass. B-A-D-A. Not to be confused. Double dollar sign. Double dollar sign. Yeah, not to be confused with.
Starting point is 01:44:54 But, nah, he all right. Look at me, niggas. Somebody else need something. I thought he was finished. He was in the middle. I didn't want to cut him off. He was smoking. That was a dog whistle to the real niggas there. They don't understand what he talking about. Niggas heard it. Nah, he was finished He was in the middle I didn't want to cut him off He was smoking That was a dog whistle To the real niggas there
Starting point is 01:45:05 I understand what you're talking about Niggas heard it Nah he was smoking Has the film Led to more success In the music do you think? Like as far as Raising your visibility
Starting point is 01:45:13 You were doing well Before acting anyway Absolutely Like You know with this new album Especially I've been seeing a lot of Girls taking a liking to it
Starting point is 01:45:23 And it's interesting Because I didn't really make too many songs on this one, like catered to women. I mean, you know, you got the Capella Chris Brown joint, and then you got the Show Me joint. But I've been seeing girls just rocking out with the album. You know what I mean? It's like when I check, you know, the little mentions or the little tags,
Starting point is 01:45:42 it's mostly girls. DMs. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, DMs and all that. So it's definitely increased the visibility in that way, you know, the little mentions or the little tags, it's mostly girls. DMs. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, DMs and all that. So it's definitely increased the visibility in that way, you know, and then just with the role on Raising Cannon, I think it's definitely been making more people just look in my direction and wonder.
Starting point is 01:45:55 Like a lot of people was coming over, and that's why I felt, for me, that was really the goal with this project. I felt like I had to reintroduce. It was like a reintroduction to Joey Badass. You know what I'm saying? With me taking the five year gap and then doing so much in between, I was away from music. I felt like I had to show people again who I am at the core. You know what I'm saying? And that's what this project was. I wasn't trying to go for no heavy concept or anything. I was really just focused on the vibe. You
Starting point is 01:46:22 know what I'm saying? Just doing what you wanted to do. Yeah, you know, this is a lifestyle album. Lifestyle. Like, you know, everything is facts. This is just life. This is just my experience at the moment. Who took longer to turn their vocals in, Puff or Nas?
Starting point is 01:46:37 Nas. Puff was one take. Puff came in, came out. We're going to wait for him now. Yeah, it was a phone call He was like Oh you lucky nigga You just called me
Starting point is 01:46:47 On the way to the studio And you know in LA All the studios Is in the same vicinity So he just stopped At my shit real quick Laid that shit Got up out of there
Starting point is 01:46:56 He came with a Somalia And all that You know what I'm saying He walked in the room Followed by a nigga Carrying Deleon Followed by another nigga Carrying Coasters Followed by a nigga carrying Deleon followed by another nigga carrying coasters
Starting point is 01:47:05 followed by another nigga carrying the ice. Oh, man. That's how the fuck you supposed to come in. Okay, so everybody that has mentioned your new album
Starting point is 01:47:18 just says how hard it is. It's a great album. They all love it. It's a lifestyle, lifestyle album. Was there a different approach it looks like there was it sounds like it sounds like there was something like it yeah you mean yeah oh yeah for sure for sure like you know part of the the main reason why this shit took so long
Starting point is 01:47:38 for me to deliver is because i was trying to figure out where i wanted to go especially after the last album my last album being so politically charged and socially conscious you know what I'm saying I was kind of cause I knew I had to do that album trying to get away
Starting point is 01:47:51 from that shit right right you know what I'm saying no no real talk because it's like I knew I had to do that album like I was really spiritually inclined
Starting point is 01:47:59 to do that album I felt like it was it was a calling like I even had a whole moment with myself before I did that and I'm like yo you know if a calling like I even had a whole moment with myself before I did that and I'm like yo you know if you do this shit this is gonna be like a little this is the tougher path but I was like fuck it like I feel like I have to say this shit this is a
Starting point is 01:48:14 generational piece this is gonna stand the test of time you know I'm saying this is like sole purpose type of shit so I did that but after that like getting past that I'm like damn Like how do I Go back to having fun again Do I have Do I now have A heightened sense Of responsibility Do people have
Starting point is 01:48:31 A heightened expectation For me now To keep up With the socially Conscious and aware shit You know what I'm saying Because you know We all human
Starting point is 01:48:39 We all multi-dimensional That's what I'm saying But it was about Finding a way On how to do both. That's what I'm saying. But it was about finding a way on how to do both because timing is everything. Right. Especially as a musician,
Starting point is 01:48:50 as an artist. You know what I'm saying? You got your career. It's like, yo, the way I started looking at this shit and that's when my whole perspective changed
Starting point is 01:48:56 is like, the rap game is like the crack game. I came into the game, I introduced my clientele to a certain drug. You know what I'm saying? Then, for me to, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:49:07 I go OT. I go OT for a couple years. A couple months. Them years fly by in your era. They go quick, them years. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Dump quick, boom. Come back, I see mad fiends lying across the shit.
Starting point is 01:49:22 But then I'm thinking like, yo, you know what I'm saying? I'm on some Empire building shit. I'm going to get these niggas heroin now. Got some skag for them. Now they like, nigga, what the fuck is this? If we wanted heroin, we would have went down the street. We came to you for what we used to get from you. Because you had your biggest commercial hit.
Starting point is 01:49:39 We want them blue tops, nigga. You had your commercial hit on the last record, too. The Devastated record is probably your biggest single solo your biggest yeah for sure you know what i'm saying that and that shit was interesting too because that was an obvious like whoa this is not the dude sound but shit worked right you know what i'm saying so that kind of and by the way i hate that song you hate that song i fucking hate that song djs if i'm in your club don't play that song unless yous, if I'm in your club, don't play that song. Unless you want me to leave. I hate that song. One dude always hate their biggest song. I hate that shit.
Starting point is 01:50:10 You know what I'm saying? I love what it's made me. I like performing it. But I just don't like hearing it in the club and none of that type of shit because it just reminds me of a time where I was trying things and I still was learning it. And I could hear the novice-ness in it.
Starting point is 01:50:27 You know what I'm saying? I could hear the sacrifice in it, the compromise in it. You know what I mean? I don't enjoy that. I don't enjoy it. How many shows you do a year now? Well, you know,
Starting point is 01:50:41 now that we back after the pandemic, this year is probably A total of Maybe like 50 or 60 shows That's still a lot That's a lot of shows 50 so far
Starting point is 01:50:51 Or you got 50 planned out So far I've probably done Like 30 Damn So I'm like Maybe halfway through Gotcha 25, 30
Starting point is 01:50:59 And a new album just came out So you might ramp that up A little bit Yeah we got the Europe tour Coming in End of November Then we got the Europe tour Coming in End of November Then we go from Europe to Australia
Starting point is 01:51:09 In Australia And then I'ma go to Africa For a bit He's out of here Another Couple more Sky Dwellers Couple more Sky Dwellers Yeah man
Starting point is 01:51:17 Something like We've lost Joey Yeah yeah We've lost Joey No I'ma be somewhere On the yacht with you Meek and those Exactly No let's exactly no i'm trying to i'm
Starting point is 01:51:27 trying to evolve joe well i can't yes you can i want you to you're the only jbu on the block no no no please come with me pull your yacht up to mine marion pup was talking about flying she pulled her yacht up to mine i was like yeah one of. Whoa. That's a different level of fly. I'm going to St. Bart your ass right when I yacht. So now, so what do we call you now? What do you mean? What is your five-year plan? Do you foresee more rapping than acting or more acting than rapping? This is what we talk about here a lot.
Starting point is 01:52:00 We talk about how the musicians get the fuck away from music, and then they are out of here. Right. about here a lot. We talk about how the musicians get the fuck away from music and then they are out of here. Right. So that's what it kind of looks like you're on the precipice of doing.
Starting point is 01:52:10 Nah, I mean, listen, I'm not trying to go away. I'm not trying to go, I'm not trying to run away from rap. Tell your fans the truth, you. Yeah, yeah, I'm not trying to. Tell your fans the truth, your fans. He's still doing 50 Shows a Year.
Starting point is 01:52:19 Right now. I'm not trying to run away from rap. Like, honestly, I don't want to take a five-year gap like that again unless I'm really on that type of shit. Like, all right, I'm saying? I'm not trying to run away from rap. Like, honestly, I don't want to take a five-year gap like that again, unless I'm really on that type of shit. Like, all right, I'm about to just duck it to executive, running my label, signing people, putting people on.
Starting point is 01:52:33 But right now, like, I want to be a rapper. I've never wanted to be a rapper more in my whole entire life. Why? I don't know. You know what I'm saying? I just really... Because you can have fun with it now. Yeah, I can have fun with it.
Starting point is 01:52:44 I feel like I know exactly what I want to do. Like, you know, before when I was younger, it felt derogatory. I always felt like I was way smarter than that. I was way more than just being classified as a rapper. But now, I don't know. It's like a different level of security and confidence. It's the freedom, yo. The monetary...
Starting point is 01:53:01 Yeah, like I'm not chasing a check through this. So now I'm open to do Whatever it is I wanna do Exactly And I don't have to It's no pressure to Elevate
Starting point is 01:53:10 Because the other things That you're doing Are helping you elevate On it's own So the work is elevating The work As opposed to having to Figure out some
Starting point is 01:53:17 Cute shit Or whatever to pop Keep it a buck Alright They hit you with An Independence Day 20 million bag You gonna say
Starting point is 01:53:23 Peace out the rat Why would I have to say peace out the rep listen I feel like you said you don't want to take a gap yeah but I feel like where I'm at right now we haven't seen like and correct me if I'm wrong but we haven't seen a guy
Starting point is 01:53:37 in a seat since Pac like navigating both industries so well and I continue to do that I mean I plan on continuing
Starting point is 01:53:50 to do that you know what I'm saying like I feel like right now I'm writing up a new blueprint I need a nigga who's leading that shit right now
Starting point is 01:53:56 you know what I'm saying who's back like I speak to 5E all the time he's like yeah I'm trying to get on my Joey shit I'm doing films now
Starting point is 01:54:02 you know what I'm saying that's my dog shout out to them like every rapper who's now you know of today like be trying to get on my Joey shit I'm doing films now You know what I'm saying That's my dog Shout out to them Like every rapper Who's now You know of today Like be trying to transition And that
Starting point is 01:54:09 They hit my line Today rap is a stepping stone They hit my line right away Today rap is a stepping stone Nah for sure You know what I'm saying But they hit my line right away Cause they identify
Starting point is 01:54:18 They like Yo you the nigga Who doing that shit right now Like you You know what I'm saying You fucking hopscotching In between both of them. And it's like,
Starting point is 01:54:25 I plan on continuing to do that. Like, I don't, I'm not trying to just choose one. You know what I'm saying? I think it's clear that I will be able
Starting point is 01:54:34 to act forever. You know what I'm saying? Like, music is a young man's sport. Right? Well, it don't have to be. It's changing. It don't have to be,
Starting point is 01:54:41 for sure. But, you know, at the pinnacle, at the highest height. Right? I get what he's saying. And I changing for sure. It don't have to be, for sure. But at the pinnacle, at the highest height. Yeah. Right? I get what he's saying. And I'm only 27 years young. So I got at least another 10 years to do this.
Starting point is 01:54:51 One more? At a high level. Yeah. At a high level. And you've done it musically, it was all independent, right? Everything is independent? What? Your music.
Starting point is 01:55:00 Your music. You were never on a major- Yeah, yeah. In the beginning, this last album was my first major label album. Oh, this is a major label album last album was my first major label album. Oh, this is a major label album. This is the first major label album. What label? $2,000.
Starting point is 01:55:07 Columbia. Shout out to Ron Perry. Shout out to Columbia. Shout out to Lou, KC, Victoria. What is your favorite song on this project versus your favorite studio session from this project? My favorite song on this project. Don't give me the, all of them are my babies.
Starting point is 01:55:28 I know. I'm trying not to. I figured you wouldn't like that answer. No, not at all. We can get to it. My favorite song is probably Cruise Control, man. You know, just the way that whole thing came about. And I feel like it's the song that's most poised for mainstream success on the album.
Starting point is 01:55:47 How much was the Mike Will beat? A lot. You got to ask Columbia. You got to ask them niggas. I ain't got to ask nobody. Shit, I know what time it is. They dropped their bag off. Yeah, I mean, you know, I'm sure it was at least 50.
Starting point is 01:56:04 Yeah, at least. At least. But was this your favorite session? Nah, my favorite session was the baddest. Why? Because just the way it happened. Like, it was the last song I recorded for the whole album. I had the whole album.
Starting point is 01:56:19 Like, the album originally was starting from track two, Make Me Feel. But I felt like something needed to be said before that to just address the vibe, but it still had to be a little different from everything else. And I was very inspired by the Grand Poobah I Like It track, which is also from his album 2000 that dropped in 1995. That's one of my favorite hip hop songs of all time. You know what I'm saying? So I took that, ooh, and I like it.
Starting point is 01:56:46 Yeah, I put the Elder Barge joint on the hook, and then we just kind of like built something in the same tempo arena, and it became that. And once I laid the verses, and we saw what the vibe was, it felt like this little jazz club. I'm like, yo, I got to get Puff on this. I got to get Puff talking shit on this. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:57:04 And then boom, that's how we're going to kick it. How did Puff on this I gotta get Puff Talking shit on this You know what I'm saying And then boom That's how we gonna kick it How did Puff end up Being the guy that People call when they want When he wants somebody To talk shit on a record Yo cause he
Starting point is 01:57:12 He's been talking shit His whole career He got rich off Of talking shit He made a whole career He one of the best Shit talkers in hip hop The best shit talker
Starting point is 01:57:19 And now I'm him And I ain't gonna lie Yo Joe I mean you could be A testament to this, too. Like, shit talking might be a longer career than just rap. Tell me about it.
Starting point is 01:57:29 Tell me about it. I'm going on year eight of it. And that shit just flew by. You feel me? Like, you hopping straight off the yachts and shit now? Yacht master's on? Yo, Joe, why you sitting out there? What's up? You outside tonight? We could go outside. Yo, Joey, why you sitting out there? What's up?
Starting point is 01:57:46 You outside tonight? We could go outside, yeah. What's up? What you want to do? We back at Starlet's? We'll be somewhere. I got to look at the lineup and see what's going on out there tonight.
Starting point is 01:57:58 Come on, let's do it. Why you looking like that? Because you know the lineup. Because you know the lineup by heart. That's what I mean. That's why you said Starlet's. He was like, nah, he didn't want shit on him. Okay. He know where he going on the Fridays.
Starting point is 01:58:08 I'm about to make myself sound crazy. But when I say the lineup, I don't only mean the bartenders and the dancers. That's the normal lineup. I mean the staff. Who's the chef for the night? Who's cooking? Is this chef in the kitchen? Oh, she not there tonight?
Starting point is 01:58:24 Okay, word. Is Oxtails over here Starless tonight know what y'all got over here it's nasty now yo I get nasty with it you need comfort but you know all that though
Starting point is 01:58:32 that's all we saying and I'm going to find out you know what busboy there tonight and I need to know alright so tell me something about Joey Badass that none of us know
Starting point is 01:58:44 um okay or that your fans would least expect about Joey Badass tell me something that none of us know? Okay. Or that your fans would least expect about Joey Bad. Tell me something that just developed in you over the course of the year. Something new in you. Something you just learned about yourself. Oh. Something I just learned about myself.
Starting point is 01:58:57 Yeah, give it to me. We'll talk amongst ourselves until you figure it out. I got a joke. Oh, give it to me. We had a new artist on like last week and he started talking about semen retention.
Starting point is 01:59:12 And I seen an interview with you and you practiced that too. Yeah. And they tore his ass up. They tore his ass up. Who was it? Annalie Chavo? Nah.
Starting point is 01:59:24 Young dude. Courtney Bell.? Nah. Young dude. Courtney Bell. Courtney Bell. Young dude. Out of Detroit. Royce and the people. You practice semen retention? Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:59:32 How do you do that? You just retain from busting nuts. Are we cooking now? You just retain from busting nuts. That's it. We good now. It's simple. Why are you doing that?
Starting point is 01:59:45 All right, so. Spirituality. And you on TV. Yeah, I mean, you know, you could say spirituality, but really it's a health thing. You know what I'm saying? Like, you know, boxers. Can't have sex. Yeah, you know, boxers.
Starting point is 02:00:00 Football players. That's where Joe came in. They'll be at you. For the added testosterone They tend to Abstain from having sex While they you know Playing or got big fights
Starting point is 02:00:12 Coming up And the reason being is that You know Your body is stronger You're more healthier You're functioning better You gotta think about it Like you know
Starting point is 02:00:21 In pause This is the biggest pause If any niggas To bust three nuts back to back, how fucking exhausted are you? Sure. You know what I'm saying? So semen retention is a very simple philosophy.
Starting point is 02:00:32 It's just doing the opposite. You're just retaining more of your energy. You know what I'm saying? Like, it's not that deep. You know what I'm saying? People are like, oh, like, give you superpowers and shit like that. I mean, yeah, in a way it kind of do
Starting point is 02:00:43 because you got more energy. And when you got more energy, I mean, you can call it life force, but it just sounds funny when you say life force. It's like some Dragon Ball Z shit. You know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, I'm about to go to the store and say life force. But like, yeah, when you got more energy, you know what I'm saying, you could be more highly efficient.
Starting point is 02:01:00 And it's like, what man wouldn't want that? Especially if you somebody led by purpose, like you're going to want. He said, I don't want that. You know what I'm saying? So boom, boom. Like, yeah, so sometimes, you know. So you're abstaining. Are you abstaining from sex?
Starting point is 02:01:17 Nah, absolutely not. You don't feel like you make this. There's been times, though. So you're fucking but not coming. Yeah. You know, yeah. I can't do that. They don't curse you out for that?
Starting point is 02:01:26 I mean, you know, sometimes it's like, you know, and it's funny because you really start to understand the nature of human beings, like man versus woman, right? So it's like, you know, I've had an experience where it's like, okay, boom. Like, I won't come. And she's like, yo, why you ain't coming? And I got to break out my whole spiel. My back to Africa speech and shit. A lot of lights is off. And now she's like, I don't like that.
Starting point is 02:01:50 I want you to come and shit. I mean, and my whole thing is like. Because she probably feel like less of a woman. But they're like, but hold on. Check it out now, OK? So you want me to come, all right? Are you going to swallow it? Because you want me to just.
Starting point is 02:02:04 You want me to just come into a fucking rubber coffin or just in the air leave that shit on your back that's no that's my fucking life it's a waste of my man that's a waste of me no leave it in her it's wasting my life that's a waste of me now i ain't trying to have no more kids right now so i ain't leaving nothing to nobody he's a snip you know i'm saying but if she wants to ingest that, and I feel like our energy is... She is worthy. Not even that she's worthy, because I'm really not having sex with nobody
Starting point is 02:02:28 who I don't deem worthy. Like, that's my new philosophy, too. Like, I could have sex every day, every hour of the day, but it's like, I'd rather be sharing that time and space. The unworthy ones be having some fires. I mean, yeah.
Starting point is 02:02:42 I mean, they do be having fires. You don't deserve me, ma. But, but. Yeah, that's true. Nah, that's that super wet, wet down. My man ain't lying about you, shorty. Wet and worthy. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:02:54 Like, semen retention is really just an asset to have as a man to like, you know, really maintain self-control. That's the best way you could put it. What else are you retaining out there? Out there outside the scene?
Starting point is 02:03:07 What other little rules you got, like, that you apply to life? Like, yeah, I need something. You sound like real woke. Real woke. Nah, but the niggas
Starting point is 02:03:18 that's retaining their semen, that means no masturbation. Yeah, nah, no masturbation. I don't even think I'm Joe Budden if there's no masturbation. To be honest, I don't even think I'm Joe Budden if there's no masturbation. To be honest. I don't even think I'm.
Starting point is 02:03:28 This is my opinion. This is my opinion. You trying to stop masturbating? I was going to try to do one. Well, why the fuck you don't come in here and share that with us? Because we play so much that some of these conversations. So you join in. Pause that.
Starting point is 02:03:39 Pause. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Pause, pause, pause. Pause that. I don't play with him like that. That was crazy. I don't play with him like that. He lying to me too.
Starting point is 02:03:45 I just met this nigga. The turn of events is crazy. pause, pause. I don't play with him like that. That was crazy. I don't play with him like that. He lying to me, too. I just met this nigga. The turn of events is crazy. Yo, Ish, no, for real. No, we joke so much. What's going on? Pardon me. That some of this shit don't really well touch on. No, but I'm trying.
Starting point is 02:03:58 Why? Why? Kind of what he's saying. You want your life force is valuable. It just gets you in a different space. No, I'll joke to no I'm joking yo you playing see you know the funny shit
Starting point is 02:04:08 I was dead serious I agree with I agree cause I sat there and said to myself I wanna try that shit I wanna see if I can even before him
Starting point is 02:04:15 listen man I said I wanna see if I can go a month look at the way y'all niggas talking about this shit look at the way y'all niggas talk about this shit
Starting point is 02:04:22 hold on hold on look at the way y'all niggas talk about this shit first of all if anything got control, if you can't stop something, I mean, it got control over you. And the two primary. But what if you don't want to stop that? It's okay.
Starting point is 02:04:35 But you still losing, even if you don't want to stop, you still want to get yourself to a place. You just came this morning. Why are you telling me something? I'm asking this. Nigga, you trying to join the Life Force Club. You didn't say no. Nigga. Nigga, you just came an hour ago. So go ahead, get your shit on.
Starting point is 02:04:53 No, I'm like, so two things. He got it off already, Joe. I know, I know. He didn't retain it. Yo, you stupid. But what makes you want to do that? So you know I read, read. But two things. I'm dead ass. I'm trying to hear you. Yo you stupid But what makes you Want to do that Alright so you know I read read But
Starting point is 02:05:05 Two things I'm trying to hear you Yeah I'm listening Alright so two things I'm trying to make jokes You know that Like So you know I've been
Starting point is 02:05:17 On my Healthy Trying to be more healthy Trying to do it So two things Two of your Two of your carnal instincts Are eating and sex
Starting point is 02:05:25 like carnally like on a totally primitive level so if you could control what you eat and if you could control your sexual appetite then the world is your oyster almost i don't even eat no seriously your appetite and your sexual desire you can control what you Then you'll have carnal control Or you have way more self-discipline And way more control Of your own output Don't you be worried
Starting point is 02:05:53 That you're gonna like Bump into something That you shouldn't be smashing Because But that's part of the control piece Yeah but that's the control That's part of the discipline piece Now it's like
Starting point is 02:06:01 If you can control that And if you can control Yo listen man I'm a sugar fiend So if you can control How much sugar you can control I'm a sugar fiend so if you can control how much sugar you putting in your body then dog
Starting point is 02:06:08 other things are yeah cause sugar's pussy it's as addictive as cocaine or more pussy more that's a good one and there you go
Starting point is 02:06:17 you never had no pussy sweet like sugar that pussy sweet like sugar god damn it I'm trying to say some pussy real sweet That's the thing
Starting point is 02:06:25 Indeed So that's the point Wait are y'all eating pussy? Y'all eating pussy To retain semen? Hold up That's a good point That's a valid question
Starting point is 02:06:35 I'm asking a question That's a valid question But you heard no answers Alright First of all I mean I ain't saying I don't eat pussy I'm just saying
Starting point is 02:06:42 No I'm not Just eating pussy In substitution Of me not Busting the nut And coming Marks the end of I want to end this act
Starting point is 02:06:52 That part Word I don't want to The never ending Come story I ain't gonna lie That is the part That gets weird
Starting point is 02:06:58 Cause I'm finished Cause I ain't gonna lie Like you know At that point When I was a little nigga Like I really Couldn't be able to have sex After the past 15 minutes
Starting point is 02:07:08 But now like you know Now I'm older Practicing semen retention And shit It's like I'm doing hours And like my partner Is just looking at me like
Starting point is 02:07:17 My partner's looking at me like Nigga I done came already Controlling the breathing And all that shit I'm done like Nigga You done So when you go Controlling the breathing and all that shit. I'm done. You done? So when you go to Starless, it's like a dick tease.
Starting point is 02:07:33 Like, you like, oh, okay. We there with different agendas. Different motives. What's the opposite of retain? What's the opposite of retain? Like a giveaway? Yeah, I'm there for the come giveaway. I'm here to see. You're giveaway? Yeah, I'm here for the come giveaway. Detained.
Starting point is 02:07:47 I'm here to see who... You're detained. Yeah, I'm looking for distribution. Seeming detention. Oh, my God. Nah, I admire that from niggas that's mature enough to do that. I am not. And what I need to be strong for. Why do you need to be so strong when you rich?
Starting point is 02:08:03 Why do I need to be so strong when I'm rich? Because I want to get richer. I want to be strong for, why do you need to be so strong when you're rich? Why do I need to be so strong when I'm rich? Yeah. Because I want to get richer. I don't want to get much richer. I just want to be better. I'm a self-improvement junkie. So marriage is not in your future either. Nah, I'm down for marriage. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:08:17 I'm down, like, listen, I'm not against marriage and I'm not against monogamy. You know what I'm saying? But when it comes to marriage, what I'm against is the government getting involved and shit like that. That's why. I would be like, yo, look, baby, we could do the whole ceremony,
Starting point is 02:08:30 fly your family out. We could go to Jamaica. We could do the whole joint, bridesmaids, groommaids, all that, but we're not signing. We ain't signing they shit. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:08:38 Love is love. You my wife, we're going to do that. You my wife. You know what I'm saying? And the moment where this shit not gelling no more,
Starting point is 02:08:44 we should be able to walk away and separate. You know what I'm saying And the moment Where this shit Not gelling no more We should be able To walk away And separate You know what I'm saying Somebody clap please Now I'm gonna ask A question So in that
Starting point is 02:08:55 Well you got money So it's a little different For you You got money Money Nah that shit matter Because now You have enough money
Starting point is 02:09:03 Where you could go To the specific people And you could get your trust set up. You could get your shit set up to take care of your family, your kids, and all of that other stuff. Whereas the average Joe small don't have that. So it's a little more traditional route for them. Work harder. True. I'm not just talking shit.
Starting point is 02:09:19 You know I'm with it. You know what I'm saying? I'm just talking shit. You know what I'm saying? So for you, yeah, that makes sense. The governmental control and the regulations that they put on your wife and all that. Yeah, because you're right. That is a valid point.
Starting point is 02:09:29 Because with some people, marriage is, it gives them certain security. Security. Security, right. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. So let's say you rich or he's rich. I don't want to be just putting it on you. They both rich.
Starting point is 02:09:42 They both are. Let's say you rich. I'm not, though. Or tree. you. They both rich. They both are. Let's say you rich-ish. I'm not, though. Or Tria. Tria, yo. No, no. He gets so nervous. He act like the sheriff is here.
Starting point is 02:09:56 The two of them. They know where it is. You know where it is. They've been here. Yeah, I ain't there, nigga. But let's say Parks, right? Walks away from his wife. You know what? They've been here. Yeah, I ain't there, nigga. So, nah. But let's say Parks, right? Walks away from his wife, right?
Starting point is 02:10:10 On some bullshit, God forbid. But it gives her some security or some fallback that even if he do some fuck shit, I'ma still be entitled to something. You get what I'm saying? So, I think that when you, which is significant, either y'all could go to the necessary professionals, that'll put that in play for you. Without the government controlling it for us. Oh, yeah, for sure. And it's like, yo, if I'm going to make that choice with a life partner,
Starting point is 02:10:34 like, I'm going to, then there's definitely going to be that relationship, that communication, that understanding there where even if we separate, like, first of all, if you separating from your partner and it's disastrous that was never going to be a good relationship true fact if you can't separate amicably you shouldn't be in there in the first place you shouldn't have been there you shouldn't be there in the first place or somewhat cordially exactly it's always gonna be a little bit heartbreaking you know what i'm saying so that's rule number one You know what I'm saying So in that hypothetical situation I would imagine that
Starting point is 02:11:09 You know My partner and I Would be able to Come to some type of agreement Of what's fair You know Especially if there's like Kids involved
Starting point is 02:11:16 Or something like that You know I'm listening I gotta Yeah I don't wanna pie with Joey I'm just saying That's something we can discuss later
Starting point is 02:11:24 Gray areas Yeah yeah Because what happens is In idealistic terms Right That makes sense Theoretically But when emotions get into that
Starting point is 02:11:32 People will do shit When they emotionally charge That two years from now They could regret You get what I'm saying? And this is why we have to choose Emotionally intelligent partners But when your emotion
Starting point is 02:11:42 Emotion gotta be emotionally intelligent That's what I'm saying Yes No so full of what he was saying. Your emotional intelligence is a thing. But again, a real thing. When it's charged, people do irrational shit.
Starting point is 02:11:55 That's why we retaining our semen so we not picking the partner that it gets deep. She ain't retaining her. She ain't retaining her. Yeah, but you're picking somebody that understands your frequency. Nah, but I think women actually retain
Starting point is 02:12:06 their sexual essence more than men you know yeah because they get judged more I gotta start saying essence they get judged more
Starting point is 02:12:13 he's throwing out all that D'Angelo shit yo my man gonna be in Starless tonight talking to the bartender no we gonna be together and I'm gonna be pointing at you
Starting point is 02:12:24 he don't come. Me. I ain't got it. I'm backed up. I'm joking. You know what? When the girls is under the impression that you don't come, they want to fuck you more.
Starting point is 02:12:38 Because they're going to bring you home. They want to be the exception to me. I'm going to get out of you. Wait, you rich and you don't come? Bet. We bet. I'm going to make that. Challenge accepted.
Starting point is 02:12:48 I'm going to take something from you. Back in the day, you used to tell girls, you don't come from head. They'd be like, what? Back in the day. I was going to say, no, that's going to line up tonight. I say, hey, you know I don't come from head? Oh, my God. Let me fix that Joey I have to
Starting point is 02:13:08 You my man So I don't want to do this But I wouldn't be Doing my job Damn And I would be a phony ass Nigga if I'm bringing it up
Starting point is 02:13:17 Maybe I'm not going Here comes the bullshit Maybe I won't see This nigga at the club Go over there Nigga I'm going over there Now I think that was Drake that dropped the surprise album.
Starting point is 02:13:29 Oh, yeah. Let's talk about it. Let's talk about it. Man, Drake, that's a big ship out there. Drake said he was dropping. And then you said you needed some more samples to get cleared from your project. So you was going to push this back a little. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:13:48 I didn't wanna bring, I didn't wanna bring it up. It was Sia's fault. But this my man, I would be phony. I would be phony if I didn't say that to his face. I'm so glad you did.
Starting point is 02:13:58 Why was you fucking lying on the internet? Saying, nah, I really gotta get my samples cleared. Alright, you want to know the truth obviously you want to guess yeah i want to know so i had no idea drake was dropping nobody did no idea and by the time we already made by the time i made that announcement first of all by
Starting point is 02:14:23 the time i made that decision obviously oh the push, by the time I made that decision, obviously, Drake was dropping. Yeah, yeah. Got it. And by the time we made the announcement, Drake hadn't announced that he was dropping yet. I had no idea. But people assume that, you know, I'm in the industry, so they're like, oh, like- Your truth don't matter.
Starting point is 02:14:36 This nigga heard that shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And by the way, he's smart for that shit, because I would have did the same thing. But honestly- Yo, wait wait hold up it's you it's fucking you and Maneely
Starting point is 02:14:48 Maneely knows if a fucking Drake album is coming listen we both didn't know how could Maneely not know of a Drake album we both didn't know
Starting point is 02:14:56 it was actually Maneely who called me it was like yo we might've dodged a bullet actually cause now Drake album is coming up and I was like
Starting point is 02:15:04 get the fuck out of here. He's like, I can't say that I'm mad. That shit got pushed back. However, I did not do it. He went and found some more samples
Starting point is 02:15:12 that needed to get cleared. What actually happened, yeah, there was like a sample or two that wasn't clear, but it could have got pushed through to still make June 17th.
Starting point is 02:15:22 What actually happened was Young Guru was mixing the album. And I hope I'm not out of pocket for saying this, Guru. But his pops passed in the process of him mixing my album. And I really wanted him to mix my album. Rest in peace, Guru's pop. Love you, Guru. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:15:41 I decided to wait despite the fact that I would have to push it back. I just decided to take the heat. Because I wasn't going to put that out there. You know what I'm saying? I decided to wait despite the fact that I would have to push it back. I just decided to take the heat because I wasn't going to put that out there, you know what I'm saying, while he was dealing with that grievance right in that moment. True. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:15:54 So I'm like, yo, you know what? Sample clearances. Fuck it. I'm the bad guy. Can't go wrong with that. I'm the bad guy. Let me catch every hit. And you know what?
Starting point is 02:16:01 It still ended up into fucking free promotion because now the story was Joey pushed his shit back. Now more people know about my shit because now I'm lined up with Drake.
Starting point is 02:16:12 You know what I'm saying? What'd you thought when you seen us talking about it, man? Nah, I was crying, bro. Yo, listen, man. I don't be taking this shit personal.
Starting point is 02:16:21 You know what I'm saying? I'm a public figure. I'm free game. You know what I'm saying? A lot of public figures don't feel that way. They don't. They don't. You know know i'm saying like i'm a i'm a public figure i'm free game you know public figures don't feel that way they don't they don't like you know i'm saying i'm a i might be a topic of conversation one day yeah i might go on breakfast club and i got the stocking cap on it's a thing yeah but if you're setting to talk about if you have a relationship with a podcaster or a radio broadcaster or whoever's reporting, right? And now you see something
Starting point is 02:16:46 that is like, hey. Listen, man, like, it's a difference between commentary and blatant disrespect. Disrespect, right. Absolutely. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:16:54 A lot of people don't see that. You need to be able to separate the two. It's a lot of stuff. So it's like, if I tune in to niggas just sharing their opinion, I'm laughing.
Starting point is 02:17:02 I was laughing along. I was generally weak because i'm like yo like it's so funny it's like this it looks like what it looks like it looked like the pushed this back because of trank and you know what for me that aligned because i was still a topic of conversation for a couple of days you know what i'm saying and how the internet works that's that's a play for him that's it you know what i'm saying it's cool but like if internet works. That's a play for him. You know what I'm saying? It's cool. But if I see a nigga disrespect me on the internet, like, oh, yeah, that nigga pussy.
Starting point is 02:17:29 Boom, boom, boom. That's different. Right. You know what I'm saying? I never fuck with this bitch ass nigga. It's like, whoa, we not on music. We not on it. That's what I used to...
Starting point is 02:17:35 Remember Ish and me, we had the conversation? That's what I would always say. Like, yo, it's one thing to just give your opinion on something. Oh, yeah. And it's another thing to be completely just disrespectful. give you an opinion on something. Oh, yeah. And it's another thing to be completely just disrespectful.
Starting point is 02:17:48 But I see where they used to be wanting to kill you, Ice, because your power on black Twitter back then was huge. Your platform was huge. You would just come out and be like, yo, this nigga shit trash. It was like, who is this nigga? But no, they would listen. He was affecting niggas' album sales. You just got to listen when fans listen. When enough fans is reacting to Ice from Newark, New Jersey.
Starting point is 02:18:07 It's like, all right, dog. Who's this nigga affecting things at my release? Yeah, and now I can't wait to catch that nigga on the dark alley. Let's get 10 seconds of silence. I want a rapid fire at Joey Badass before he goes. I want everybody just rapid fire at this nigga since he's so profound with answering questions. I'll start.
Starting point is 02:18:31 Do you have a smart toilet? Yes. He's out of here, yo. Hold up. I wasn't ready for that. Yo, he fucked me. He's out of here, yo. He's out of here, yo.
Starting point is 02:18:41 What the fuck the smart toilet do? It wash your ass. You bum. Wash your balls. It's levels. It's levels. And then they got a raise, yo, so you can order
Starting point is 02:18:49 a smart toilet. Oh, I'm done with that. I'm done with that. Earn the raise. Earn the raises. Topics, performance, tone, like earn the raise. All that just asking.
Starting point is 02:18:59 I wasn't at the mixer. Didn't get an invite. Oh, man. But that's what I didn't understand about me not getting invited to the mixer. If I had a boss, and I'm off of this because I'm not. Because I'm not. If I had a boss who I knew wasn't gone and gone, I 1,000% would invite him.
Starting point is 02:19:16 Yes. It just looks good, especially if I like the boss. Put your hands up. So, yeah, Smart Toilet. You got a smart toilet. When you get that? I just moved it to my new crib
Starting point is 02:19:28 in June. Some applause. Yeah, yeah. Homeowner. Well, he said new crib. He might have downgraded. Don't matter. He got a smart toilet.
Starting point is 02:19:38 He laughed at it, though. You think I downgraded? I don't. No. I don't. I was just putting it by the rim. And he just got the new crib.
Starting point is 02:19:45 Lil' Chris Paul. He ain't had a smart toilet before the new crib. He got the new crib to not come. All right. I'll get my second question. I'll toss it around to the room. Everybody comes and says they're top five rappers of all time. I'm going to ask you who the top five trash rappers of all time to you is top five niggas that
Starting point is 02:20:10 it's just like man man you can find a media savvy way to get up out of the question good luck buddy but i gotta entertain the fans i mean i don't i don't even know if I'm in tune with enough trash rappers like this. To measure their level of trashiness. I feel you. That's right. You know what I'm saying? That was good. That was good. Now that's true.
Starting point is 02:20:33 Back against the ropes like Ali. What y'all got for him? What y'all got for him? Turn it up on him. Turn it up on him. There's Unique, dog. Yo, don't answer that. Fuck him.
Starting point is 02:20:45 Don't answer that. You don't watch the show. I don't answer that. Fuck him. Don't answer that. You don't watch the show. I don't watch the show. I don't watch the show. I watch it. Religiously. If I tell this podcast, I got to kill everybody who watched the podcast. You're right.
Starting point is 02:20:55 That's a lot of people. Including the people who do the podcast. Fifth would be tight, too. They're going to kill us over that check. That's ass. Listen. D, get rid of us for that check. That's a good check. That's a nice check. We, get rid of us for that check. That's a good check.
Starting point is 02:21:05 That's a nice check. We can't go on with this 5,000th episode. Just a piece of that check will put this whole room away. See? See? See?
Starting point is 02:21:12 See? All right. You'll kill this whole room. I get it. Yo, listen. I understand. Yeah, you know. I got to work harder.
Starting point is 02:21:21 I got to work harder to kill me. Come on, y'all. What's up with Pro Era? Pro Era? Man, all my homies'all. What's up with Pro Era? Pro Era? Man, all my homies is good. You know what I'm saying? My boy Chuck, my boy CJ, Nick, Kirk doing his thing, you know.
Starting point is 02:21:35 Everybody doing their thing, trying to navigate. I let everybody out their deals. Everybody's independent. Oh, everybody's free. Free to do their thing. That's what's up. Everybody's free agent. Album question for you
Starting point is 02:21:45 Which is the current trend In hip hop Will you be looking At a deluxe? I'm thinking about Doing some type Of deluxe structure But what I'm leaning
Starting point is 02:21:54 More towards right now Is dropping songs In the frequency of 2000 Like every three weeks or so And just adding it to the album Okay Cause you know, we got that like Liberty Now
Starting point is 02:22:07 and Play It Round. Yeah, whatever the industry is. Rather than just doing the traditional here's the deluxe at one time like here's six, you know what I'm saying? I'm trying to just
Starting point is 02:22:16 keep the attention on 2000 and maybe just add a few more records to it. No, no, no. I feel you on that. How many women you ever had in the roster at one time? Most women ever had in a roster at one time? Most women you had in a roster at one time?
Starting point is 02:22:29 Nah, I feel what you were saying. Probably, you know, in my younger days. Younger days. You're 27. You're 27, by the way. Before my senior retention, before it was a big thing for me to be honest and, you know,
Starting point is 02:22:43 transparent. Maybe about five. How long you been rich? how long I been rich? that's invasive well now that's a good question because I think I've been rich
Starting point is 02:22:56 for longer than I known I was rich but I didn't accept being rich he killing y'all he is smoking y'all and the most you had was five
Starting point is 02:23:04 at one time? shorties? like when you say y'all he is smoking y'all food and the most you had was five at one time shorties like when you say a roster elaborate at one time elaborate
Starting point is 02:23:12 like keeping up with five genres not that you're yeah keeping up with all of them one setting yes like all together
Starting point is 02:23:20 entertaining five the most women at once oh bro you saying one setting about like five six yeah I could let me just shut up entertaining five five the most women at once oh well you saying what about like five six yeah i could i could let me just shut up dumbest purchase as a uh entertainer
Starting point is 02:23:32 your dumbest purchase as an entertainer i bought this chanel chain when i was like 18 or 19 from cory vintage frames and he's a good guy but fuck you Corey I was like 18, 19 I bought a Chanel Vintage
Starting point is 02:23:51 light bulb chain from this nigga for like 5 bands cause you be shining bright I see what you was trying to say something like that I was woke
Starting point is 02:23:59 and in the light symbolism symbolism you know I bought the Chanel fucking light bulb Vintage chain It was dumb
Starting point is 02:24:07 You know It was stupid At least it was only five Yeah At least it was only five But that was deep for me back then No doubt I was like
Starting point is 02:24:15 Damn I just dropped five bands On an item A single item Word That doesn't enhance my life I know Like the leather band
Starting point is 02:24:24 Sky Dwell And like that And this bad boy right here Leather band item that doesn't enhance my life. No, like the leather band, Skodwell. And like that. And this bad boy right here. Leather band. Leather band. Oh, no, I see the leather band. He won't. That nigga's mature.
Starting point is 02:24:34 That nigga's mature. And I see the buckle on the back. That's alligator. Nice little buckle on the back. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I seen it. Nice buckle on the back. You seen right here. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:24:42 See what he said? That's alligator. That's alligator. I know. This is about eight of those damn stupid light bulbs. Alligator. I think that's grown, grown. Yo, you start coming in with the leather band, you have transcended hip hop. That's TV money right there. I got older cousins and shit, and it's like, you know, I'm the younger cousin, but it's
Starting point is 02:24:58 like, I'm the older cousin. So when I came with this shit, they're like, boy, why you got that shit? You should have got some shit with some diamonds bust down. And then I went like this, and they're like, boy, why you got that shit? You should have got some shit with some diamonds bust down. And then I went like this. And they was like, oh, all right. All right. That shit is nice, though. That's classic.
Starting point is 02:25:12 Good looking. You just got to tell them soon. You'll understand. This the one that, you know what I'm saying? You at the bar. You at the little speakeasy joint. The nigga who just got off from Wall Street. Like, yo, that's a nice watch, man.
Starting point is 02:25:23 It's a nice time piece. It's called time piece. It's a time piece. It's a time piece. Oh, that's a nice watch, man. It's a nice timepiece. It's called a timepiece. It's a timepiece. Not even a watch, timepiece. Oh, that's networking. Best networking you've ever done. We just went to a spot, some random person started talking to you,
Starting point is 02:25:33 and he happened to own Lionsgate, and now we're having a different conversation. Different conversation. Word. Rooms and tables, man. It's all a game of rooms and tables. And you got to bring your A game to the rooms and to the tables. to bring your a game to the rooms
Starting point is 02:25:45 and to the tables what is that what your your a game man it's just it's preparation because i was just talking about and this is probably on a lower level but maybe not weaponizing a smile like the greek freak smile the magic johnson smile the smile and what that can do like that's kind of what you talk because you have that too It's deeper than the smile, though. You know what I'm saying? Like, it transcends smile, and then it goes to charm. And then it transcends charm, and then it goes to networking and your ability to keep up and to keep a bridge functional.
Starting point is 02:26:18 Because, you know, bridges don't just burn because you do something so drastic. Sometimes they just burn from- Not keeping up. No contact. Okay. You know what I'm saying? From just space and time and radio silence. So you got to be able, and these are things I've learned over the years, right? Because when I was 17, 18 years old, I didn't give a fuck about talking to nobody. I was in Germany for the first time, and I was just happy I was in Germany I wasn't even thinking
Starting point is 02:26:45 That I'll come back here one day Maybe I should lock in with this dude Maybe I should lock in with You know what I'm saying? I wasn't even thinking like that I'm just like nigga I was in high school a couple months ago Now I'm in Germany
Starting point is 02:26:56 You know what I'm saying? So like as you go Through the journey You kind of realize And like One of my biggest takeaways That I always try to give The younger artists is,
Starting point is 02:27:06 you got to be careful of how you're treating people on your way up. Facts. Because you never know who you're going to run into on your way down. So like,
Starting point is 02:27:12 when you're opening up for niggas on tours and shit, you're at these venues and you're meeting these stage hands and these different crew members, and then two years later, you're on your own tour,
Starting point is 02:27:21 and these motherfuckers remember you for being a fucking punk imbecile Or some type of shit Now they don't give a fuck About your show Now your microphone
Starting point is 02:27:30 Fucking Just little shit Just you know karma Even someone opening up for you And then they turn out To be a star later down the line You might want to do Something with them
Starting point is 02:27:36 Nah word up Word up You know I've even learned Lessons like that Like you know just And not even intentionally But you know you just You live and you learn
Starting point is 02:27:44 Like I ain't gonna to do this one. You know, I'm not in the mood. And then, damn, this shit take off. Like, Location with Khalid. Yeah. I was asked to be on that shit before Little Wayne. I was supposed to be on the remix. And I passed up on that shit.
Starting point is 02:27:57 Like, I didn't even pass up on it. I just didn't have the initiative to get it done in the time it needed to get done. So, I missed the opportunity. Joey Badass. Somebody called my phone three weeks ago to tell me about the money that Khalid has generated for his record label. I won't repeat it.
Starting point is 02:28:13 Could have been a percentage of my earnings. But it's nine figures. Khalid. And I know he's big. But what definitely puts things into perspective when you realize that this one act has made
Starting point is 02:28:31 $200 million. And also when you realize that nobody who you know is in the demographic. Puts the world... Nobody in this room is in the Khalid demographic. Correct me if I'm wrong. I buy it, but he ain't making it for me. It don't smell like it.
Starting point is 02:28:49 It don't smell like y'all niggas listening. We was just having that similar conversation. Yep. You know what I'm saying? So it's like anything is possible. And that's another thing I had to learn is like, just because throughout this five-year gap, I started to make a lot of music in the direction of
Starting point is 02:29:08 me wanting to please the people who was in the room for me. But I had to learn that none of the people in the room were my fans. You know, they my people. Don't get me wrong. I could go to them for opinions. Life advice. You know, life advice. I could even go to them for opinions. Life advice. You know, life advice. No, I could even go to them for opinions on a song.
Starting point is 02:29:27 Right. But I got to understand when I'm doing that, they're not the demo. Yeah, they're not your person. They're hearing it more from a casual listener perspective. Right, right. So I got caught up in that because I wanted to please these people who was right next to me. You know what I'm saying? And I kind of got jaded.
Starting point is 02:29:43 And, you know, sometimes you got to be reminded of that like yo ain't nobody in the room gotta fuck with what you're doing as long as you got an audience for what you're doing that you can connect to you know i'm saying that's a tough battle right there because naturally you want people around you to be into what you want you know what i'm saying but you kind of just got to be on what you on and make sure that you into it because that's what drop other people into it's kind of a great segue to my next question tell me about your worst bout with self-doubt my worst bout with self-doubt um i would professionally professionally i would say you know it was kind of over these last five years you know i'm saying
Starting point is 02:30:23 like one of the biggest reasons why it took me so long to to put out the album like when you go such a long time without releasing it and when you break that chain of consistency that invites a lot of doubt it invites a lot of pressure you forget what the dialogue is between you and your consumer or you and your listener. You know what I'm saying? So it literally became about like, damn, if I can't get the stamp of approval from the people next to me, then my shit is weak. You know what I'm saying? And it's like, these people are not listening to the type of music I'm listening to on the regular.
Starting point is 02:31:04 They listen to what they listen to. You know what I'm saying? And that might be whatever. It might be Lil Rozy. Maroon 5. It might be Lil Durk. It might be Maroon 5. It might be Sade.
Starting point is 02:31:13 Whatever it is. But I'm Joey Badass. But I'm Joey. You know what I'm saying? And that's what I had to realize. It's like, yo, you got an identity. And early in my career, that was a hard battle for me. I hated that people were just thinking that I was just a 90s boom bap revivalist.
Starting point is 02:31:31 I hated that from the pits of my soul. That's what I thought. I'm an artist in every sense of the word. Like, I really got range. I can experiment. But what I had to learn is my brand identity is not aligned with certain experiments or certain directions I might want to go with sonically. And then it's like, all right, boom. So we use the drug dealer analogy.
Starting point is 02:31:55 Now let's use the restaurant analogy. You go to your favorite restaurant. They got the special dish. It's the fettuccine. They take the fettuccine off the motherfucking menu. You're like, what the fuck are we coming here for?
Starting point is 02:32:08 You know what I'm saying? The tagliatelle is cool. The spaghetti is cool. But I want the fettuccine. I want the fettuccine. I've been coming here for the fettuccine. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:32:17 So once you serve the fettuccine now, it's like, okay, everybody's satisfied. Now here's some compliments from the chef. You know what I'm saying? Now, here's some kudos.
Starting point is 02:32:27 Try this. I get that. Here's some octopus. That is a great analogy. You know what I mean? You know what I'm saying? And it's interesting, too. How could you be mad at courtesy of the chef?
Starting point is 02:32:36 Right. How could you be mad at that? Whatever it is, thank you. And 2000, that's what 2000 was. 2000 was an album full of fettuccine. There was two experimental dishes on there. It was called Welcome Back, which is the song I made for you. My nigga.
Starting point is 02:32:54 Because there's a lot of songs. So my demographic, my fans, they hate that song. I bet they do. They fucking hate that song. I bet they do, yeah. My moms hate that song. But then again it's like I don't blame her
Starting point is 02:33:07 she don't want to hear her son talking about life you know what I'm saying talking like that she don't want to hear her son saying I ate it like I had a big appetite
Starting point is 02:33:14 especially not retaining semen and then my fans and then my fans and then my fans is like you gotta understand my fans they been with me
Starting point is 02:33:23 from 1999 so they don't even Look at me as a nigga Who get bitches They don't even look at me As that They like I dealt with that
Starting point is 02:33:32 My whole career too They like you talking about sex That's why I just kept Knocking them down They like you a conscious nigga Why you talking about sex I was rapping about depression But I'ma knock them down
Starting point is 02:33:40 Oh y'all not In case y'all not feeling What I'm saying Watch this She have to reason up the press what I'm saying, watch this. She half the reason I'm depressed. But I'm a smacker. But there's a thin line
Starting point is 02:33:49 between being an artist and being a brand. You know what I'm saying? One is realizing, okay, yeah, you could experiment. You could show these different sides of yourself.
Starting point is 02:33:57 And then one is being aware of what people want to see from you or what they are willing to accept from you but just because i do something that's different doesn't mean it's not good it just means that my clientele was not ready for that they wasn't prepared for that so sometimes it's great lengths you gotta go like like i gotta plant seeds before i do certain moves right i gotta make it make sense you know
Starting point is 02:34:22 what i'm saying like if i'm gonna do a drill record Maybe I gotta plant a seed Like oh yeah Like Joey and Fabio is cool Like Joey and Fabio Are actually from Brooklyn And they know a lot of the same people They're actually connected You guys would never know that
Starting point is 02:34:36 You know what I'm saying But once you introduce that idea Then after the song come It's like oh That makes sense It makes sense These niggas hang out with each other. But when shit come out of left field from a nigga who is identified as like, oh, he's this.
Starting point is 02:34:51 And he's doing something that's over here. It's like, what the fuck? This is wrong. This is against. This is not right. I hate that. They almost look at it like, oh, you're chasing that. It's like Louis Vuitton dropping $30 sneakers.
Starting point is 02:35:04 You'd be confused. I hate that. I ain'titton dropping $30 sneakers. You'd be confused. I hate that. I ain't getting them fucking $30 sneakers. I'm definitely not. I would. Yes. Not me. We know.
Starting point is 02:35:12 No, we know. Hey, Steph, I'm already putting out some $19 sneakers. I'll skip right over that. We'll hop step right over that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, do it for the less fortunate. I'm a Euro step right past you. Yeah, I, yeah. Hey, do it for the less fortunate. I'm a Eurostep right past you. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:35:25 I'm not getting this. That's funny. They didn't even look too bad, but we just wasn't rocking it. I'm not wearing nothing. They was too cheap. That's so shallow and nasty. I know. It's terrible.
Starting point is 02:35:35 But I'm up, nigga. Suck my ass. Yo, as an artist, you don't find that... Like, how did... Y'all artists. How did people like Jay and them, or they just got to a level where they could just do what the fuck they wanted to do outside of what the fan thought that they should be doing? Nah, man. Even Jay is a perfect example.
Starting point is 02:35:54 Jay has been planning to seize his whole career. True. His first album on the cover, he has a fucking suit on. So it's not even outlandish by album three to think of this nigga as a real businessman he's been telling us the whole time he's been painting that he was a fucking hustler and not just the on the block corner hustler i'm oh i'm this level of hustler empire enterprise and i'm gonna apply this throughout the rest of this and meet me at the end we'll see what it turned into you made me make another one cause I'ma do this yeah but had he never
Starting point is 02:36:25 planted those seeds had he just came across as like a MC as a rapper or just a grimy dirty grimy I tell y'all
Starting point is 02:36:32 this is what Hov says why you don't say this shit oh I've been saying it like yo you don't see Jadakiss running the label today but none of his legacy is taken from him
Starting point is 02:36:43 you know what I'm saying but like that just wasn't The seeds that he planted You feel me He planted the seeds As being one of the best rappers And he's still And you can find me on the block
Starting point is 02:36:51 Any day And he's still keeping that up To this day To this day Brand Brand Brand Brand identity
Starting point is 02:36:58 Coca-Cola You feel me It's like you gotta be in line Like brand identity Is one of the best things You can have For people to be able to Break you down into a sentence is one of the best things you could have. Really?
Starting point is 02:37:10 Absolutely. Hell yeah. I would think it would be a curse, not a gift. I thought that as well. Because somebody to compartmentalize you, when somebody just puts out one sentence and it's identifying you, then that restricts your ability to pivot or to tangent into something else. How?
Starting point is 02:37:27 Every lane got value. Yeah, but it's like, yo, if I can't... How? If I can't describe your audience, who are you selling to? Right. True.
Starting point is 02:37:35 No, that makes sense. Where's your dollar coming from? No, I'm saying, but you said, yo, somebody needs to be able to describe Joey Badass in one sentence. For the most part.
Starting point is 02:37:43 For the most part. So now let's say this other demo that is representative of $300 million for you. Right? Long term. Demo? What do you mean by demo? Demographic.
Starting point is 02:37:55 Okay. Right? Could potentially yield you $300 million over a 10, 15 year span. If that one sentence don't necessarily identify identify or is not relatable to them you lose out on that no no no because look at khalid khalid not losing out on not making us fans yeah but he don't hold on let me put that demo that he is let me give you let me give you a different example so who's to say who's to say okay so let's say? Go to your J.D. Okay, so let's go Let's do Khalid Khalid versus Little Dirk
Starting point is 02:38:26 No, go to your Kiss example Kiss is a better one Right Right So Kiss Put himself here Right That's his
Starting point is 02:38:33 I'm standing on who I am Now potentially He cannot And I'm saying potentially Y'all more Knowledgeable about this than I But now he can't necessarily Go over there And get those bags that are possible.
Starting point is 02:38:47 No, but they can because they can't. Him could, though. Yeah. Well, the thing is, those bags don't even exist for kids. Yeah, they're not meant for you. So he don't even identify as him missing out on those bags. They're not meant for you. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:38:59 Yeah. He's in his own bag. What I'm saying is I want them all. I want a sample of all of them. Someone from the shiny suit RV wants some gutter shit. You could want it all. The top guy in that brand. Right.
Starting point is 02:39:09 And everybody naturally wants it all. But you see, when you start doing that, you know, you fall for anything, you stand for nothing. My brand for mad years was built on hate. They don't know the people that's typing. They don't know where you're from. They don't know the people that's typing. They don't know where you from. They don't know who you are. They don't know how you feel about shit. All they looking at is numbers and metrics and engagement.
Starting point is 02:39:35 There are 300 million people that type the name Joe Budden per week. That's the brand. They don't know me personally. But if they can say, remember I tell y'all, all you got to do is evoke emotion. Get them to feel something.
Starting point is 02:39:49 And that's the brand. Whether they love you or hate you, your brand is evoking something and there's value. How it started? Exactly.
Starting point is 02:39:57 Kodak Black. A million of them. There's a million of them. You just talked about me. Kodak Black. Me. Ice. Me.
Starting point is 02:40:03 Prime example. Niggas didn't know nothing about me prime example nothing about me but his brand was valuable off hey we don't fuck with what you're saying well that means you know what I'm saying yeah same thing we don't fuck with you oh well that's my empire yeah yeah yeah yeah I'll keep going until somebody fucks with me Floyd Joe joe budden floyd floyd is a prime example they sold fights every single fight he was also undefeated though but no but they always had him right being this braggadocious loudmouth nigga eating chicken wings while he jogging and then the screen flips and you see no no shot but you see the hispanic guy chopping trees family man taking his mother
Starting point is 02:40:46 to church and we gonna paint that narrative and y'all gonna buy tickets to my shit just to see him beat me i hope he beat his ass yeah great example the muhammad ali model same shit great example people paying for tickets just to see this nigga get destroyed yeah yeah it never happens and then it don't so we don And the next one be the one. Listen, haters is as great of a customer as the motherfucking lovers of your shit.
Starting point is 02:41:10 That's what I love. If not better customers. Or bigger. Yeah. Better, because niggas will hate you longer than people love you. Niggas will hate you
Starting point is 02:41:17 for like one, two, three, four, And a two and in. And a two and in to make sure you falling and you ain't falling. Niggas are investing to your downfall. Yes.
Starting point is 02:41:24 That's all they want to see. You up here smoking and shit, man, hold up, man. Investing to your downfall. Yes,
Starting point is 02:41:31 they will. Nah, it's nuts. So on you to flip that. Dan, do I have any more tough questions for Joey? I think,
Starting point is 02:41:39 I think Joe is done with his rapid fire for Joey. This guy is a gangster, the gentleman. Yeah, 27. Smooth guy is a gangster and a gentleman. Yeah, 27. Smooth as can be.
Starting point is 02:41:48 Renaissance, man. To be 27. Actor, rapper. You know, when I had my Joey badass line, and then it got back to me that you didn't like the line, what everybody said to me was, yo, dog, this is the nicest, sweetest guy that you'll ever meet in the world. What was the line again?
Starting point is 02:42:04 It's only one Joey that's badass. And that was me. Hey, yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. No, but this guy, one of the most well-respected. Just a, I don't have enough good things to say about Joey badass and that's not because he is sitting next to me this is in plenty of circles your your name card is excellent out here and as a nigga whose name card hasn't been the greatest at times I understand the value in
Starting point is 02:42:40 that and the gift in that and the work that it takes to keep that like that. So I just want to give you your utmost respect, your flowers, the love that you deserve, and thank you. Thank you. Just thank you. Thank you, guys, man.
Starting point is 02:42:55 Thank you. Thank y'all for having me. We need more niggas like this. We do. Seeming retention. Oh, knock it, though. That's what got you there? Knock it, though.
Starting point is 02:43:04 That's what got you there? Knock it, though. That's what got you there? That took your levels up? All right, so before, when's the last time you came? Before you go, pause. Yo, whoa. semen retention oh knock it the fuck off knock it the knock it the fuck off I took your levels up alright so before when's the last time you came before you go pause yo whoa
Starting point is 02:43:10 I said pause ain't enough pause you need to stop you need a stop button nah or homo it might be it might be like you know what I'm saying
Starting point is 02:43:18 one or two people out there who might not like my alright so nevermind nevermind keep it keep it keep it keep it ladies ladies and gentlemen
Starting point is 02:43:27 i'm not sure the demographic out there so i can't i can't the incredible joey badass album in your phone right now oh tv star rap star oh i had a question before you left imagine your best year financially that you've had, and then tell me about your conversation with your accountant on tax time. Okay, so this might have been like two years ago, and I was like, pay that shit. For real? Pay that shit.
Starting point is 02:44:01 Pay every fucking cent. I don't want to owe the IRS not a damn thing. This nigga's way more mature. Pay that shit. Pay every fucking cent. I don't want to owe the IRS not a damn thing. This nigga's way more mature. Pay that shit. I want to kill my account. I want to kill my account. Listen, me and my accountant, me and my accountant,
Starting point is 02:44:16 we have a great relationship. It's not fair. You got Manili with you. That's not fair. That's a Chico. And a part of it was like, you know, my accountant, I'm sure he identifies me as somebody who's kind of holistic and spiritual in my beliefs because, you know,
Starting point is 02:44:34 sometimes I would just be on some, like, I don't care what's in my account because I know what's on my heart and on my mind. Yo, get out, yo. Get out, yo. I'm going to kick it out. Ladies and gentlemen, I don't want to get to that level. I want to be the level underneath that.
Starting point is 02:44:47 I'm dead ass, though. You know what I'm saying? I know what's in my heart. I'm going to be right here, though. The essence. Yo, I'll be on some shit like, yo, like, I know I'm like, whatever. I'm vibrating in a frequency where
Starting point is 02:44:58 I'm going to attract money. You know what I'm saying? So I'm not even worried. I'm not even worried. That's how I feel, dead ass. On game. Yeah, that's how I feel. You know what I'm saying? I'm not not even worried. I'm not even worried. That's how I feel, that ass. On gang. Yeah, that's how I feel.
Starting point is 02:45:05 You know what I'm saying? I'm not even worried. I'm going to be like 90 feet under that. I got to start using all these neo-soul words this nigga got. Essence,
Starting point is 02:45:13 frequency, vibration, ground rising, rich rising. No, I'm vibrating on a different frequency now. Joey,
Starting point is 02:45:21 thank you for stopping by. We love you. We appreciate you. I got two, man. Open seat by. We love you. We appreciate you. Open seat here. Anytime you want to come here. For sure. And that's that on that, man. We outside tonight. Now I know y'all in the

Starting point is 02:46:23 It was Brooklyn keep on taking it. It was. It was. What? I know that one You think I forgot You know Brooklyn had All the dirty robbers
