Because men are oblivious to the Herculean effort you girls go to. And it is Herculean. I mean, you know, the average woman will go through six pounds of lipstick in her lifetime.
Starting point is 00:05:06 She'll spend just under two and a half years of her life sitting in a salon chair getting it cut, dyed, blown out and styled. She'll spend another 650 days at home trying to recreate that same look. She'll waste a year of her life just trying to figure out what to wear.
Starting point is 00:05:22 And then there's the plucking of the eyebrows and then drawing them back in with a pencil. The gluing on of the false eyelashes. And then there's the makeup. You like my makeup? Yeah, it looks like you got bukkake'd by a box of cremated crops. And then there's the collagen in the lips
Starting point is 00:05:40 to make them puffy. The Botox and the crow's feet. And we're not even below the neck yet. The breast augmentation, the spray on tan, the shaving of the underarms and the legs, the manicure, the pedicure, the waxing,

And he had that entire Barclay on fire from the second he stepped on stage to the second he stepped off. Any guess? No. No guess. A surprise opener, the kid DDG,
Starting point is 00:10:34 but I'm not familiar with his music. Wasn't built, didn't say like, you know, opener. He did that by himself. That was the more impressive part to me. At what part of the show did you say to yourself oh my god this is going absolutely crazy did you dance no i don't i don't dance i didn't dance you just sat there head nod aggressive give me your show give me your show pro no standing up rapping rapper hands rapper hands rapper hands for sure like everybody else

Starting point is 00:11:23 Black love. Black love, man. Is that a Gunna t-shirt? It is. You stood in the merch line? Nah. I snatched that when everybody was inside. I ran out to the merch booth real quick. That was smart. Walked right up to it. Let me get this, this, this,
Starting point is 00:11:41 and this. Oh, you bought a couple pieces. I always buy merch. But four pieces? Yes. That don't look like cheap merch either. You got money. You spend money at shows. Oh, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:11:53 I wasn't there, my brother. I don't know. I don't know. You spend money at shows. I don't know show and merch. Yeah, you spend money at shows. Anytime I go to a show, I'm usually buying
Starting point is 00:12:01 a lot of merch. Talk to them niggas that don't buy merch out there. I can't speak. I buy merch personally. I usually make my way lot of merch. Talk to them niggas that don't buy merch out there. I can't speak. I buy merch personally. I usually make my way to the merch booth first. In an instance like this, I'm going to go while everybody inside, get a couple pieces. I always buy merch though.
Starting point is 00:12:14 All right. All right. You know what I mean? Did you get an autograph? No. Did you go backstage? No. Meeting Greek?
Starting point is 00:12:21 No. Pitcher? What's up with y'all? But if Gunna wanted your girl to come backstage and take a picture while you wait out there. She don't know how to play with me like that. You just said she's a fan. A fan. She ain't stupid.
Starting point is 00:12:34 So she's a fan, but she can't go get the picture. I didn't say she can't. I said she wouldn't do it. But if she did, would she come back to warmth? But she wouldn't do it. Hypothetically. Hypothetically, she wouldn't do it. But if she did, would she come back to warmth? But she wouldn't do it. Hypothetically. Hypothetically, she wouldn't do it. But if she did, would she come back to a warm reception?
Starting point is 00:12:49 You're not hearing me, bro. How do y'all let y'all girls know y'all have an attitude with something? A look? And then we'll move on. Because I'm not trying to stay here. I just think it's funny. She know when I got, it's a look. Girl, lack of look?
Starting point is 00:13:01 You looking away? Nah, I look. And I get real quiet. When I don't say a word. Yeah. She, all right. I'm from the Caribbean, nigga. You know, we start to move our mouth in a funny way.
Starting point is 00:13:12 By looking, by staring you down. Nigga, I'm not taking my eyes off of you at all. Show us the mouth move, though. Now, pause. Yo. Yo. Yo. Yo.
Starting point is 00:13:23 He said, don't know sound? This is the man. This is the man. Oh, gotcha. This is the man. This is the man. Oh, got you. He's the man. He's the man. Yo, I will. OK.
Starting point is 00:13:32 OK, yeah. Do it. Do what? Do whatever. Do I? Welcome. Welcome. Not only am I going to get extra quiet, but when you notice me being quiet, I'm going
Starting point is 00:13:44 to lie. Yo, is everything all right? Yeah. Real short answer, though. Super short. Looking straight ahead. Yo, what's wrong? Nothing. Cool. Chilling. Is it because I did...
Starting point is 00:13:59 They know what they be doing. Exactly. They know. They know. Me and my girl broke up, and it was when Houston got a little snow. It was a bad breakup, too. We wasn't talking. It was bad. But you were stranded there? Were you there?
Starting point is 00:14:19 No, no, no, no. I was home. She was in Houston, but they got a little snow. But you know, they don't react well to snow. That shuts them down. They act like, she definitely hit me. Yo,
Starting point is 00:14:29 you think you can send my Uggs back? My Uggs, I try to get them everywhere. They sold out. My ego ate that right up. Like, it's the Uggs. It's me.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Don't you know, I went on the website. It's really sold out. I went, oh, she desperate for some Uggs. Bitch, you are never getting hugs
Starting point is 00:14:46 I wouldn't put them shits in a glass case and you're going to step further now you do the Instagram post where you just happen to have the hugs in the background in the case let another girl put them shits on oh yeah you broke up other girl did.
Starting point is 00:15:05 No, let me shut up. I'm bullshit. I'm joking. I'm joking. It's like your mind. We'll get the mugs though. When the other girl comes, she act like she got beef
Starting point is 00:15:15 with your girl too. She act like they bitter enemies. Like you don't even know her. Why you kicking her hugs around? Yes, it is. bitter enemy. He's like, you don't even know her. Why are you kicking her hugs around? You see these, your little, your little, your little hugs
Starting point is 00:15:30 in the closet. Your little hairpiece. They fighting for the same thing. The ex wants you to send the hugs and the new chick wants you to send the hugs.
Starting point is 00:15:40 How long you holding on to these out? You think she'll come back? Well, if she do, I want to have her hugs. You certainly are temporary, bitch.
Starting point is 00:15:47 You don't think you sticking around, right? You are a rebound. You'll be going long before Uggs sees you. Oh, for sure. Don't worry about Uggs. Yeah, when you leave, it'll be in the flip-flops. Chancletas. Very warm on the feet.
Starting point is 00:16:04 Very warm on the feet. that's funny all right so I'm in a great mood we can do anything y'all want to do I want to take ice to homie court at some point if we have anything that is more important than that I'm down oh nothing all right okay well oh I mean we I don't know if we do you want to get your shit Oh, nothing? All right. Okay, well. I mean, I don't know if we want. Do you want to get your shit off first? Because you got some shit too. We got a lot to get to. Oh, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:16:32 I want to marinate in that. Oh, that's right. For a second. I want to marinate. Let's not get to that right away. Do we want to acknowledge that Monday was September 11th? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:43 We should. Rest in peace to everyone that lost their lives in September 11th and the aftermath. Yeah. Everybody that was directly and indirectly affected.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Correct. Yeah, I got really, I got really kind words from, you know, I interviewed one of the survivors. His wife sent just really, really kind words to start the day.
Starting point is 00:17:03 So I do want to say shout out to everybody that was affected and rest in peace to the people that lost their lives. I knew something was going to happen to Aaron Rodgers when he was holding that flag in the tunnel. T.O. Two, by the way. Y'all seen him with the flag? I saw him.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Because I forgot it was 9-11 when the game was on. Like, I'm in football cape. I'm in go time now. Show them with the flag. It, like, I'm in football caper. I'm in go time now. They show them with the flags like, oh, buddy. I feel bad for Jets fans. I do. I do, man. I do. Jet fans. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:36 And Giants fans. Thank you. Yeah, I feel bad for y'all too. The hell? The MetLife curse this weekend. That was the MetLife curse this weekend. That was the MetLife curse. Maybe. And it ain't even, forget about the loss for the Giants. I mean, we'll get to it.
Starting point is 00:17:51 That wasn't a loss. That introduction that the Jets got versus what we got. The way the Jets fans looked in the stadium compared to just how we looked. We're going to have to have a New York Town Hall meeting or something. Like the Jets got some shit that I just forget they got. They had their little fireman fan, all that green. They had Aaron Rodgers. There's a little more hype around them this year.
Starting point is 00:18:16 Yeah, clearly. But the fans, them fans made us the Giants. We got to get together. It might be under new management. That's how it looked. You know what I mean? Jerry bought management. That's how it looked. You know what I mean? Jerry bought it.
Starting point is 00:18:27 That's how it looked. Oh, get your shit off. I was just asking if Jerry bought it. Oh, I'm not. I'm not in Jerry's. I don't know. Oh, okay. You want to start with some Cowboys shit? No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:18:36 It was just a lot of gray and blue in there. Oh, yeah. You, Corey, all of y'all. In the stadium? Yeah. Gotcha. You were there? I went to the game. I went to the game. You didn't go to the game? You should have went to theall. In the stadium? Yeah, gotcha. You were there? You should have went to the game.
Starting point is 00:18:45 I wasn't there. You didn't go to the game? You should have went to the game. I hate that stadium. It's trash. Okay. All right. Bougie, bougie.
Starting point is 00:18:54 Bougie, bougie, man. Is there any music? Is there any music? There's no music. Nothing dropped. We got drops coming later in the week. Who's coming later in the week? Tell me. At this point, I get all my music news from you. Did got drops coming later in the week. Who's coming later in the week? Tell me.
Starting point is 00:19:08 At this point, I get all my music news from you. Diddy's album is dropping. Nas and Hit-Boy are back again. They said their final album produced by Hit-Boy. Magic 3. Magic 3. Yo, what? You're gonna get banned from Queens. Word.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Drake also said he's dropping a single this week I don't want to hear no more from Drake until something happens I just want to hear music yeah I want to hear music now I don't want to hear music from I don't want to hear anything
Starting point is 00:19:34 about the album enough rollout anticipation is there I need to hear some music at this point that's it and I think that Cleo Soul is dropping on Friday as well.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Whoa. Okay. Okay. Whoa. Okay. Yeah, I think Cleo Soul is dropping on Friday. Uh-huh. That's exciting.
Starting point is 00:19:55 That's something. That is. Yeah, y'all got me on her. This Puff album has been on nonstop repeat. I'm trying not to talk about it because of how the audience feels about me talking about Puff. But- How you got the album? Of course you got it. I'm trying not to talk about it because of how the audience feels about me talking about Puff. But... Oh, you got the album? Of course you got it.
Starting point is 00:20:08 I knew how to whistle. Oh, my Lord. You got the final album? Or just the one... Oh. The final. Okay. Dog.
Starting point is 00:20:18 How many songs? Unbelievable. 89 minutes of music. Damn. Ooh. 21. 21 songs. But it's a few interludes. But like Puff,
Starting point is 00:20:30 Marry My Life interview, like, I mean, interlude, like the old Josie interludes. The old school bad boy. The interludes that make the project cohesive.
Starting point is 00:20:41 I'm not going, we'll really talk about this on Friday when the music is out and I can just play some. But regardless about this on Friday when the music is out and I can and I can just play some but regardless of how you feel about the music his
Starting point is 00:20:50 the production and the arrangement on this album is unbelievable and in music you're not playing nothing are you I don't think so
Starting point is 00:21:00 I just want to say it is September and we still haven't heard a peep about this versus. I don't think that's happening. I don't think. I don't think that's happening. Which is what we said.
Starting point is 00:21:11 Yeah. I don't think that's happening at all. Speaking of music, you was in TMZ for your take. Wait, hold up real quick. Nigga, just. Baby, won't you come home? Baby, won't you come home? Baby, won't you come home? I can't play no more man it sounded hard though
Starting point is 00:21:36 it's what's hot how are is he rapping on the live top down yo I think that's the genius of this project for me is that no he he ain't. Okay, good.
Starting point is 00:21:48 In the first, in the first, yeah, I think he knows that now, though. In the first eight songs, there's probably 16 total bars from him. Like, he comes on for a four-bar spot in this song. Then it's a four- bar bridge in the next song. Then it'll get 12 bars off on the beat that you know anybody that has ever rapped
Starting point is 00:22:09 is going to rap on this beat. It's like shit like that. But listen, Ty Dolla $ign showed up. Her showed up. Babyface showed up. Jasmine Sullivan, SZA, Summer Walker. Wow. You were kind of expecting it.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Jazzy. You expected them to show up. But they all showed, Summer Walker. Wow. You were kind of expecting it. Jazzy. You didn't expect them to show up. But they all showed up. Mary. Yeah. You got to bring the A game to this. They showed up. So really, I don't want to say this, but I'm satisfied.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Why would you not want to say that? Because normally the Drake album would have all of my- Oh, you mean satisfied Musically for a minute. I'm cool, dog. I'm so cool. This thing has been on repeat nonstop, and you about to give me Cleo Soul, and Drake is coming next.
Starting point is 00:22:52 Like, it's fourth quarter, so some of these, you got to kind of compartmentalize now, because you just about to get bombarded with music. And I'll talk about this Puff album more on Friday, but he do what he got to do. Like, that weekend single with French and 21 Savage is probably my least favorite record on this project. And that's he a little bit.
Starting point is 00:23:15 We'll talk once it drops. Yeah, we'll talk once it drops. We didn't talk about it last part, and I won't talk about it now, but that Chris Sean girl had a baby on Insta Live. Uh-huh. They filmed her childbirth? Yes. Yes. Well, yes.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Uh-huh. What's wrong with it? Everything. Everything. She also was at a football game a day later, or two days later, with the newborn. That's youth. She also named the baby Chris Sean Jr. Thoughts and prayers.
Starting point is 00:23:54 All right, man. Yep. You can't comment on stuff like that. It's going to bring us into that psychotic realm. It's me that's doing it, huh? You freak with that realm. It is crazy. I don't, huh? Yeah, because you think you freak with that realm. It is crazy. I don't keep up with them.
Starting point is 00:24:08 I don't follow them. And somehow the business still just ends up all in my face because of that whole toxic community over there. So I don't really address stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:24:18 But having a baby on Insta Live was different. Dog, I had for about a year now, every name or word associated with them I've had muted and you still can't
Starting point is 00:24:28 accept that. I thought you can't have a phone in the room when they're giving birth. That's not true. Or that's surgery.
Starting point is 00:24:37 What is it? Videos. You can't have video. I thought you can't record video. No, having a baby, people record people. We could tell who wasn't there. I was, but I didn't record it. Oh, having a baby, people record people, you know. We could tell who wasn't there.
Starting point is 00:24:46 I was, but I didn't record it. Oh, what are you talking about? Oh, alright. You was there? Both times. Sure? Are you sure? Alright. People have, you know, shown their, shown giving
Starting point is 00:25:01 birth on reality shows like Kourtney Kardashian famously pulled the baby out of her vagina. their, shown giving birth on reality shows like Kourtney Kardashian famously pulled the baby out of her vagina on their reality show. Yeah. Trader Truth pulled a bullet out of his neck.
Starting point is 00:25:19 Fuck you talking about Kourtney Kardashian. Women always want, you know what I mean? Call me when that gets done. Time's just changing. Oh, shit. Time's just changing.
Starting point is 00:25:35 What's wrong with you? You're an idiot. Stop telling us about Khloe Kardashian pussy. What's wrong? This is a good one. That was funny. It's something you can't fucking unsee once you've seen it.
Starting point is 00:25:48 Yeah, I was there both times. Mine, my oldest, we wasn't getting along so great at the time, but they put her under all types of anesthesia. So all she could say was, oh, I love you. Thank you for being there for me. Yeah, look at you. Look at you. Oh, they're not getting along.
Starting point is 00:26:04 Look at you now. Your lucky iPhone wasn't out. Oh, that's not getting along. Look at you now. He's lucky his iPhone wasn't out. Kept that one. Oh, my God. It kept the... Oh, I love you so much. I can't believe it'd be without you.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Yeah. Hey, what drug is this? I might need to take some of this home. Sounds like Molly. Oh, man. That would have been fucking... Write it down. home and then with some experience I was there for my youngest and I don't think I was as supportive as I would like to think I was in the moment. Why? You know,
Starting point is 00:26:46 you hear the doctor get to talking, the doctor like giving instructions, you start picking up some of that sauce like trying to, trying to urge it
Starting point is 00:26:54 to whatever the doctor's saying but you maybe don't communicate as well as the doctor and now you got to shut the fuck up or they threaten you to get out of the room.
Starting point is 00:27:02 Oh man. You're using it being pushy. In her version, i said something like let's go you don't know how to push yo how hard can it be to push i don't know that i said that i don't i don't believe you remember the reaction to in the moment in the moment that was my first time seeing it, like, come out of there. Like, my oldest was a C-section.
Starting point is 00:27:35 This time, he was coming out of there, and it was like, oh, shit, the cord. Oh, neck. Oh, get my neck. You caught him? No. No. No, I didn't do that. No, they had me holding one leg up. I was like, oh, yeah, you get here, hold up, hold her here. I'm like, I didn't do that. No, they had me
Starting point is 00:27:45 holding one leg up. I was like, yeah, you get here, hold up, hold her here. I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa. I just wanted to stand back and watch. I'm a partner.
Starting point is 00:27:52 They got you working and shit? Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. I had the leg up. I had one leg. Mama had the other leg. I was like, oh, yeah, I got this.
Starting point is 00:27:59 That's how we got here. I know how to do this. I can hold that leg up. That's my shit right here. I can hold the leg. Y'all shit right here. I can hold the leg. Y'all gonna let me stay in the room? I got this, bro.
Starting point is 00:28:09 All right, that was it for music. The Gunna show was amazing. It looked amazing. Yeah, that shit was amazing. It looked amazing. I was telling you, hold on, hold on.
Starting point is 00:28:15 I was telling you that you was on TMZ for your take on Cardi and Meg's record. Yes. Did anybody check you yet? I love y'all two. You and Mel.
Starting point is 00:28:24 Kourtney Kardashian, TMZ. White pop culture love y'all too. You and Mel. Kourtney Kardashian, TMZ. White pop culture has y'all too in a headlock. Did somebody check me? Yes. No, I actually got an invite tonight to the Bongo listening party, listening session. You know, Kaj, send me that. Be careful.
Starting point is 00:28:41 You don't think you're safe on that? I'm always careful. Oh, salute. I'm just saying. I'm always careful. It's life. When should you not be careful? Just making always careful. Oh, salute. I'm just saying. I'm always careful. It's life. When should you not be careful? Just making sure you're okay, my brother.
Starting point is 00:28:48 I love you. What, you got some news or something? No, I didn't get any news. I would have told you. You know that. I'm the first one. I'm not going anyway because not tonight. A little drained.
Starting point is 00:29:03 A little drained. What? It was fashion week. It was fashion week over the weekend. Yes, it was. Both games, a lot of traffic
Starting point is 00:29:12 at MetLife. It's just too much. You know. Good. Okay. I just didn't want to wind down. I'll tell you this real quick about
Starting point is 00:29:20 the response I've seen to the Gunna show. I had street niggas in a frenzy on the internet. Completely confused. Like, this isn't supposed to work. It was a lot of conversation I saw that I just found hilarious because
Starting point is 00:29:34 I don't want to disrespect any street people, but I'll be trying to get them to understand that the outside world don't really care about a lot of that so this is like proof of it like all the shit that y'all are mad at him for niggas don't care because the music still slapped people are gonna go he can put a tour together people are gonna go i've had people in atlanta telling me yo dogs why i just kept every party
Starting point is 00:30:02 they playing his shit It's ringing off That album has been ringing off That was the take away For me with Gunna Is that he's doing New York and LA And he's not doing Atlanta Yet
Starting point is 00:30:12 Stop Yet Why would you not do Atlanta first I'm gonna go to the biggest Market I can do first I'm gonna go To show biggest market I can do first I'm gonna go to show that and sell that out New York if you could do it New York you can do it anyway you
Starting point is 00:30:30 know why you didn't do it that's not trying of course you it's fine of course and I think that you know you're right if the demand is there he will eventually get to it I do think that Atlanta may be a little bit different but you know it's a lot different to that to that shit to the point that you said though flip uh tmz and along with uh a number of other outlets and public uh publications did like y'all always do post my opinion and put it on the assembly belt and i want to say that i know when that happens that that's one of y'all labels or teams or publicist people out there doing that I know that it's y'all part of rollout or not rollout it's not I'm saying using that as part of rollout like yeah but when I'm saying something bad and it
Starting point is 00:31:25 get picked up like that and put everywhere that's somebody else's team that's somebody else's squad holding them down and they're just using me as the front man and don't play with me like that because y'all know I fuck with Cardi but I, I mean, I stand in what I said about the song. And I said it pretty respectfully. You did. I ain't here to come in and shatter nobody's dreams. See, I ain't put the Shorty interview out, the Tosh K interview out, the day that she put that record out.
Starting point is 00:31:56 That would have looked foul. That would have looked nuts. Maybe wouldn't have got that invite to the party. Yeah, it's fucked up, though. Today, it's either you got to support it or don't say nothing. invite to the party. It's fucked up though. Today it's either you got to support it or don't say nothing. That's the way they treat you. If you don't like something, don't say it. You either got to be
Starting point is 00:32:14 on board, support this is fire, I love it, champion it, or just shut up. I don't think that's right. That's where the media people get chips on their shoulders. For me, if I didn't hear nothing from none of y'all the nine million times that I bigged you up,
Starting point is 00:32:30 I definitely don't want to hear nothing from you that one time I didn't. I'm not nobody's voice box. I'm not on nobody's payroll. I don't work for nobody. I'm my own man and my own opinions and I stand in these shits. So, yeah, I don't want to hear that shit.
Starting point is 00:32:46 I agree. And Cardi would understand that would understand it just be these fan bases fan bases too that's a new thing now true you gotta worry about like fan base oh my god yeah oh my lord um what else anything important in music that we have to get to I don't think think so. No, I don't think so. We ain't have much music anyway. Next part of the piece. Well, Tink and Berg, I mean, I don't know if y'all call that music. I saw Berg going off about some shit, but I didn't do the research, quite frankly, because he be tripping on the line sometimes. I did all the research.
Starting point is 00:33:21 Oh, okay. Yeah, when people I know get in the news in the mess oh yeah I go gather all info I can before I speak to them so I know which questions I need to ask so you can be the perfect antagonist
Starting point is 00:33:31 yeah yeah yeah oh yeah this guy and sometimes when niggas be fucking these girls and they don't tell you that they fucking these girls and as the dude as the friend dude
Starting point is 00:33:40 you just got to put two and two together that oh alright they fucking so yeah I had to do that before with Tink and Berg oh shit alright As the friend dude, you just got to put two and two together. Oh, all right, they fucking. So, yeah, I had to do that before with Tink and Berg. Oh, shit. All right.
Starting point is 00:33:50 Y'all fucking. That's always weird as a friend. When you connect the dots. When you have to. Why do I have to? But then again, why should that person be telling you? Yeah, they ain't got to tell you nothing. I totally agree with that. And it ain't hard to connect the dots.
Starting point is 00:34:03 How many beats you giving her? Oh, all of them? Got it. Oh, wow, man. Say less. Oh, she's on the label now? Oh, where y'all going? All right.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Say less. Anyway, real quick story of what happened. Apparently, depending on whose story you believe, Tink and Berg were dealing with each other and stopped dealing with each other. They were going through a breakup. According to Berg, they hadn't spoken in a long time. He's in Cancun at a restaurant for his birthday.
Starting point is 00:34:30 That morning, she posted some shit on Instagram in support of his birthday. Yo, Young Berg, happy birthday. We going up. That's my dude for life. I hate when women do that. I hate when women do that. In the breakup? If we ain't right and we ain't speaking, don't now put my likeness
Starting point is 00:34:46 on your Insta feed to make women or people think that me and you is flying and we are. It's tricky if we're signed. If we got a relationship outside of personal. You're my CEO boyfriend. It's tricky.
Starting point is 00:35:02 I'm appreciative for everything you've done outside of the personal. Yeah. You got me. Yeah. In this instance. Mm-hmm. Anytime it's happened to me,
Starting point is 00:35:11 they weren't signed to me. Y'all ain't had no business. They weren't signed to me at all, yeah. Because they doing it, they ain't doing that shit for you. But anyway, she posts the shit, cool.
Starting point is 00:35:20 He ends up at a restaurant that night. This is where the details get murky. She ends up at the same restaurant somehow, unbeknownst to each other. Allegedly. Allegedly. Well, somebody in that camp snitched. Something happened at that restaurant to where she got really angry with him,
Starting point is 00:35:37 whether it be for not showing attention or if he was there with somebody or just whatever it was. And then they had an incident in a car where tink got physical with bird but when she reported this to the internet she was vague with the details so she made it seem like she had to defend herself against a violent bird who already has some of those allegations on his jacket. She said, yeah, I'm not going to play it, but she just danced around.
Starting point is 00:36:12 Like, yeah, I saw him. We got into something. I had to defend myself. And, you know, a lot has happened in our relationship that I've been quiet about. So if he want to put that video out that he got, then just know, yeah, that's what it was.
Starting point is 00:36:29 So she was getting ahead of some shit. Sounds like a preemptive strike. So then Berg replied and was like, I'm not putting no video out because I'm a real man. And you know what happened in there. And that's not the first time you did that. And I'm going to handle it. I might sue your ass.
Starting point is 00:36:46 And then, oh, and he said, I never touched you. It was never nothing like that. Why you would frame that that way is beyond me. Like, it got messy. And then she did a reply
Starting point is 00:36:56 to his reply and said, yeah, I hit him, but this is why. What? And that's where I left that story. Sure. Yeah. Thoughts and prayers. Thoughts that story sure yeah thoughts and prayers thoughts and prayers thoughts and prayers nasty work it's nasty
Starting point is 00:37:14 also while we're on stupid shit that doesn't really change anything in anybody's life we never covered that lady getting hit with the brick because I just always want to wait for more news. So apparently they got more news and the lady was never hit with a brick. It was an allergic reaction. No, she's a scammer who has attempted to do this multiple times. I saw some white girl TikTok. And it was a white girl TikTok that's spreading like wildfire. And now there's a beef because all of the black women were killing us
Starting point is 00:37:45 again for not protecting the girl from getting hit with the brick and here comes the white lady here to defend black men gender wars again that didn't make it to your i saw that stuff misses your algorithm no no i saw i saw that um people were saying um that a report came out that um she had made up the whole thing and that it was actually like, that's where I got the allergic reaction. That was something that I guess medical staff said had happened to her. It was like an allergic reaction that she'd had. But the whole brick story was made up. Yeah, and it's not her first time.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Creating GoFundMes. That shit's crazy. And people donated like 40 grand or something like that. That's all I'm listening to. That's hard. Salute. Don't hate the play. That's all I heard.
Starting point is 00:38:33 It's to come up. Times is rough out here. I get it. That's why, and let me tell y'all, I ain't clicking on none of y'all GoFundMe's. Facts. People be sending them...
Starting point is 00:38:43 I got to know you personally. Yeah, do be. Yo, I'm in a wheelchair. Sorry to hear that. Even then. If I know you personally, then just hit me. Stop by my house. I'm cash out, bank account, wire to wire.
Starting point is 00:38:55 I'm never going to someone's GoFundMe. Ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. That's true. You said not true? Scammers is good. No, you said that's true. The scammers is good. Yeah. He's smart, yo. He's a genius You said not true? Scammers is good. No, you said that's true. The scammers is good. He's smart, yo.
Starting point is 00:39:08 He's a genius. I see the GoFundMe shit. That shit is just like when they asked about the Salvation Army at the little bodega. Hey, do you want to do it? Nope. Want to round up your change? Absolutely not. Not at all.
Starting point is 00:39:19 Joe, lay all them niggas. Do you want to give a dollar? No. I'm not giving a penny. Especially after watching telemarketers. Absolutely not. Yeah. What?
Starting point is 00:39:29 They only getting 10% of the shit anyway? Absolutely not. I'm not. Show me everybody hand and touch the money. Right. What's the splits? Petco. Yo, I heard about an actually interesting scheme.
Starting point is 00:39:42 I'll try to be brief. Yo, I heard about an actually interesting scheme. I'll try to be brief. My friends adopted a dog that is a rescue from the dog farms over there somewhere. No, no, no, no. Oh, okay. That was going to be food. Oh.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Okay. Like in, I want to say Korea perhaps. Okay. But I may be wrong. Mm-hmm. That is a fucking, like Someone is making a lot of money selling essentially chickens to Americans.
Starting point is 00:40:12 That is some brilliant shit. I think that was racist, though. Why? That was racist. What's racist about it? He almost made me choke on this shit, boy. A dog farm in Korea? He said, I think it's Korea.
Starting point is 00:40:28 But I could be wrong. That was a little trumpet. Shouldn't we check that first? Did he get the dog? So they adopted a dog from Korea. That was going to be food over there. Instead of just going right to North Shore Animal League. Correct.
Starting point is 00:40:43 I got you. And they shipped the dog. Huh? And got you. And they shipped the dog. Huh? And they shipped it. They shipped the dog. I just thought it was a pretty good scam. Because the dog could have really just come from anywhere, right? I mean that.
Starting point is 00:40:59 And it would be like someone adopting our cows. And somewhere that doesn't eat cows. Like India or somewhere that doesn't eat cows. Like India or somewhere that doesn't eat cows. There are South Korean dog meat farms. Right. Thank you. Oh, shit. That's so gross.
Starting point is 00:41:15 So it wasn't racist. I guess not. It does exist. A meat farm. Where are they? Oh. Yo, people crazy, y'all. Who even knows that?
Starting point is 00:41:28 They look at us the same way. Fox friends. Yeah. White people. Evidently. The whites. They're saving the dogs. All the dogs.
Starting point is 00:41:33 The Korean dogs. You go right to Long Island and get a dog from Puppy Shaw and shit like that, but you go all the way to Korea to adopt a fucking dog. And pay extra for it. For shipping. What was it? What shipping. What was it? What type of dog was it? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Yeah, exactly. Anyway. They didn't get that dog from Korea either. They just told you that. That dog from Bronx. That's Roscoe, yo. Oh, shit. Oh, man. That's funny.
Starting point is 00:42:01 It's the white. I want to send a special shout out of love and warmth to Thicky Minaj. If you're out there listening, we love you, and we hope you heal and recover. What happened to Thicky? They were doing a basketball game. The BBL League. Called Guns and Buns or some shit? The BBL League.
Starting point is 00:42:25 Shout out to Thicky. What was going on today? No, seriously. No, what happened? The BBL League. We call guns and buns or some shit? The BBL League. Childhood thinking. What is going on today? No, what happened? She was dribbling the basketball up the court. See, he know what happened to the thicky. She tried to hit somebody with it. Why you know?
Starting point is 00:42:35 You married him. Why you was looking at guns? What's the name of it? Buns and something. Buns and guns. Why you was looking at BBL League? I wasn't. Basketball.
Starting point is 00:42:44 That's what? Anyway, some league put all the thick girls with a bunch of ass on the basketball court to run up and down and play a game. Did it have to be fake ass?
Starting point is 00:42:51 No. Oh, God. A lot of ass. She's running up the court and did it in and out. Her knee went in and out. Her knee folded. Her whole leg folded.
Starting point is 00:43:00 What? Her entire leg folded. Bad. But she said she good, though. She said she good. She said they popped it back in. Oh, that sounds so painful. Shout out to Thicky. Okay, said she good, though. She said she good. She said they popped it back in. Oh, that sounds so painful. Shot the thingy.
Starting point is 00:43:08 It looked bad, though. It looked horrible. It looked really bad. But she said they popped it back in. Oh, so you spoke to her? I did. So she did a revival? You know what they said?
Starting point is 00:43:18 Give us the tea. She said it. To who? Where'd you say it? The gram. Oh. The gram. You went and followed gram. Oh. The gram. He wasn't followed up.
Starting point is 00:43:25 Yeah. Oh, so the Splash Brothers was back. Oh, man. Yo, what's wrong with this guy? Uh-oh. Hey, y'all ain't got shit to talk about. I'm just getting to talking now. Hey, the Splash Brothers is back.

Starting point is 00:50:47 I turned around. It was all looking. It was all looking. These motherfuckers with their husbands looking. Motherfuckers with their man. Hey, if you was a nigga in there, Nah, let me not. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:51:01 Yeah, man. But it got bad. I felt bad. Then she had to pee again Yo he can't Have it in the bucket This guy is a freak But anyway So we sitting here talking
Starting point is 00:51:14 I had to make A run That's what I mean I got on out of here Food was crazy Everything is crazy They were trying to bring Some special food
Starting point is 00:51:23 Cause we got there after the kitchen had closed. So they know he made Pump It Up. They tried to give us some special service. No? They didn't know that? Stop it. I'm asking you they didn't know that. Stop it. You can't do that. Stop it. It's okay. You can't do that.
Starting point is 00:51:39 He can paint whatever picture he want to paint with the broadest brush in the world. No, because they did the same shit the night before. For you. Stop it. Exactly. These two, and that gets back to my point. So I get to work today.
Starting point is 00:51:51 Ice said. No, he says, in there. Ice said. No, no, wait. He said, yo, kind of tight at ice, yo. I said, what you mean? He says, yo, this shit kind of fly. And I'm mad that you two niggas went out.
Starting point is 00:52:03 Y'all left where we all were. Goofy ass niggas. Tyrese came. He's a hookah guy. And y'all niggas just didn't say nothing. Yo, bro, I've never been here before. So I get to work. I used to talk about, yeah, I heard y'all was in my spot.
Starting point is 00:52:17 Well, heard from who? Heard from the spot. I went back over there. Wait, so you went back over there? Yeah. Two nights in a row? No, no. He just went back after I went.
Starting point is 00:52:26 So that's like his spot. I fuck with the spot. Okay. So I'm just honestly, at 43, I think it's important to be expressive and share my emotions and my feelings, especially with my friends and my loved ones and the people I rely on to take care of me and like guide me through sometimes.
Starting point is 00:52:42 So like, damn. So you're accusing I was hurt what are you accusing him of of gatekeeping yeah being a phony ass nigga and being down this Rico Newark boy bullshit yo what are you talking about
Starting point is 00:52:55 Ice hold up can I defend him or no go ahead shoot wait can you defend him wait that person Rico no I don't
Starting point is 00:53:03 I'm nice at this I'm not saying this. I'm not saying this. Go ahead. I got it. Mr. Button. Dog. I'm asking. Did Ice not inform you of the spot prior to us going there?
Starting point is 00:53:14 No. Joe. I've never mentioned it. Is your client speaking? All right. Who's speaking? Go ahead. Are you sure of this?
Starting point is 00:53:22 Yes. When we were at the table, you said Ice did explain it, but he didn't explain it in the proper tense. Ice didn't say shit. He didn't say, yo. I said, yo, I went to the damn spot. He didn't get into it. He didn't get into it, into his style.
Starting point is 00:53:35 Dog, you lost, dog. This case is over. This case is over. We ain't got to get in the long drawn out shit. No, that's funny. I have to say, as a juror, I heard mention of Speakeasy on Friday. Listen to that. I wasn't invited, though.
Starting point is 00:53:51 You see how your man... I don't remember invitations being spread amongst the cast. You see how Torrey got sent up, right? The guy came in at the last minute. The guy came in at the last minute and said he sees some shit. Whatever he said about this, I didn't hear it And I was outside So I'm not saying He didn't say something about this
Starting point is 00:54:07 I'm saying he didn't say to me Anything when he hit ish And said we going over here tonight From work That's it We ain't got to stay on this The audience might not care About me having hurt feelings
Starting point is 00:54:18 Sir he owes you nothing sir We can get to it I'm sure innocent Good day Sir You have no fine it. You're innocent. Good day. Sorry. You have no fine to pay. You're innocent.
Starting point is 00:54:30 You got two more months of judging. Another two months of judging for you. Yeah. Yeah. Come on, Steve Griffin. Three, yeah, ten. Where you at? What's up?
Starting point is 00:54:41 Why you do that? Why you do that? Like, why would niggas tell you something properly? Wait, wait. Hold up. No, man. Go ahead. Even if I do it, I can do it because that is my, that word.
Starting point is 00:54:54 But that's not you. Don't do that to me. You're right. I'm sorry. I'm telling you, you're going to miss me when I'm gone. You're going to miss me. You may not miss me. You're not going to miss me.
Starting point is 00:55:03 You're going to miss me. You're going to miss me. I'm going to be out. And when I'm out, I'm going to miss me, you may not miss me. You're not going to miss me. You're going to miss me, you're going to miss me. I'm going to be out. And when I'm out, I'm going to. Oh, you're trying to get this price up. Yo, why I ain't going to miss you? Because you're my man. You're going to be with me, nigga.
Starting point is 00:55:13 Oh, shit. There's your Rico right there. That's your Rico. That's your Rico. He's got a real Rico, so he was looking the wrong Rico. He was looking the wrong way. You was looking the wrong way. When I start tightening the mic. Don't put me in the docket.
Starting point is 00:55:30 I'm playing. Tighten the mic up. I'm playing. He's not looking in the cup. There's nothing in there, gang. Oh, man. I can't wait. I can't wait. I can't wait.
Starting point is 00:55:41 You know what I mean? Couple more months. Shout out to Joe. That's hilarious. This guy's an idiot, yo. Ice, did you get a chance to finish the Meg Tory doc? Because you mentioned that you'd only watched the Meg set. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:55:52 I watched the whole thing. You watched the whole thing? I called Ish and told him to watch it. Did you watch it? I didn't see the second part. You only saw the Meg part. I saw the Meg part, yeah. I agree with Ish when he said it.
Starting point is 00:56:01 It sounded and it looked crazy. You saw the Meg part. I watched both parts. It made Tory look nasty. You saw both mag part. It made Tori look nasty. You saw both parts. I saw both parts. Did you get a chance to watch it? No.
Starting point is 00:56:11 You have no intention of watching it? Not at all. Why? Because I know what happened. Uh-uh. You know what I mean. Other than... Leave me alone.
Starting point is 00:56:18 Oh, shit. Leave me alone. I'm not looking to do an interview. I'm not looking to entertain. Oh, he not playing with niggas today. You asked me something, I answered you. I'm not to entertain. You asked me something, I answered you. I'm not watching it. You asked me why, I answered it.
Starting point is 00:56:29 Okay. What do you think after watching both parts, Mel? I think... Oh, God. Why do you do that? Look at Ice. Why do we do this here? I want to hear my co-host and see what she thinks about watching the doc.
Starting point is 00:56:47 Meg's part was extremely compelling. What about Tori's part? You know what's so funny? His manager, I'm watching it and I'm like, this guy looks mad familiar. I fucking grew up with him. I was like, oh shit, Freddie. He's got a fan base that really totally believe in his innocence and and that's great for him what do you think that's what you got out of his side of the duck
Starting point is 00:57:12 what that his fan base is like extremely supportive of him yeah that's what I got out of it I'm trying to you know sum up my my impression of it. Man, after watching, he did that shit. After watching both sides, he did that shit. Yeah. That's what I take from it. Y'all know he got sentenced, right? Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:35 Yeah, but people still walking around here with questions. We know sentencing is just what was proven in court. Okay. That don't necessarily mean that his side basically used the fact that her story changed um more than once as a reason to um call into question everything that she said but i'm watching it and i'm understanding all the reasons why she said what she said initially and why she felt compelled to, you know, hold back some of the truth and then tell the truth. I get it. I understand.
Starting point is 00:58:13 It makes sense. Everybody expects her to have like this, you know, like, you know, legal mind. She's what, 26, 27? Yeah. And it's like trauma happens to you and it's like and you're and you have to make you know these incredible decisions on the fly I don't know man all I took from it is dude talk too much and he just shut the fuck up she was it looked like and this is from watching both sides it looked like dude I'm trying to spare you but you doing so much you in turn pissed me off and now open my mouth and say something right a thousand percent um and the fact that he called up Kelsey the next day and made the apologies and stuff like that it's just like well what are you apologizing for
Starting point is 00:59:03 like what actions are you apologizing for if it wasn't that you shot her? What did confuse me, not even about the doc, just about the story and all, I do remember seeing reports that he was supposed to have been going to court.
Starting point is 00:59:13 I think it was September 5th or something. And I don't know what happened. Mm-hmm. So, but I'm done with it. If anything else comes out, if he gets an appeal, then we'll talk about it.
Starting point is 00:59:24 But as far as I'm concerned, this shit is over and done with. Right. And again, from watching it, it looked like he did what he was accused of doing. Mm-hmm. Now, I still want to hear
Starting point is 00:59:35 Alone at Prom Deluxe. The what? The deluxe version of his last, of his album, Alone at Prom. I still need that. Got it. I'm feeling very left out.
Starting point is 00:59:47 What you mean? I want to know where the speakeasy is. Oh, shit. Come on. Hey, Miss Honey. Hey, Big Dog. Those days are old. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:59:59 I don't know. I don't know. I was going to say, I'll follow you. Who? I will follow you guys there. Well, I don't go straight from here. I was going to say, I'll follow you. Who? I will follow you guys there. Well, I don't go straight from here. I was going to say, from where? Where your pickup point going to be?
Starting point is 01:00:10 Y'all wouldn't let Mel come? Wow. Wow. Maybe they got me on that Mel list. Maybe that's why I didn't go. The Mel list? They got me on that Mel list. Why would they have Mel on the Joe list?
Starting point is 01:00:27 Mel might be on the Joe list. Nah, man, ain't no list. How'd Joe get there? You took him. So how he on the list? So I guess I'm on the list by myself. Nobody said you were on anything. Y'all didn't say y'all.
Starting point is 01:00:39 She asked you if she could go out with y'all. I don't have a problem with that. Say that then. Fix your lips. She want to go out with y'all. I don't have a problem with that. Say that then. Say that then. Fix your lips. She want to go to the studio. Yeah, she want to go. I mean.
Starting point is 01:00:52 You too. Oh. You're included in this. How come I didn't get an invite when we left here? I wanted to go. First off, all right, let me tell you. I can answer that, but I won't. We didn't even go from here.
Starting point is 01:01:03 Okay. That's why. I know it seemed that way I was home and then yo I'm gonna go over there and made the call yo I'm coming through I'm a guy with me all right back okay all right our audience don't care about y'all hanging out together it's over all right okay Ashton Kutcher Mel what's up stop running from the smoke before these mics came on we was we was hype I we was getting to it now we're running and cower running from the smoke. Before these mics came on, we was hype. We was getting to it.
Starting point is 01:01:28 Now we running and cowering from the smoke. These niggas on the Patreon episode had a lot to say about the Masterson dude who got sentenced to 30 years to life because of Ashton and Mila wrote those letters. And these two dudes, with their affinity for who knows, came in and was like, oh, she's the greatest. Brave Apollo. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Nobody came in and said that. That ain't what happened.
Starting point is 01:01:53 Okay. Y'all didn't come out with mad adjectives for like the best type of milk? Oh, no. I said she's elite. Ultimate milk. Who is? Mila. Mila Cruz.
Starting point is 01:02:03 That's what I'm saying. Okay. Yeah, we were saying that. Not his cup of tea. Yeah. Ultimate milk. Who is? Mila. Mila Kunis. That's what I'm saying. Okay. Yeah, we were saying that. Not his cup of tea. Yeah. All right. Well, yeah. So on the Patreon episode, we talked about Danny Masterson being sentenced to 30 years
Starting point is 01:02:15 for and the fact that Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis wrote letters to the judge basically standing up for his character. And now they have released a statement that looked fucking crazy because they received so much criticism. And part of the criticism is the fact that, number one, Mila Kunis just recently starred in a movie called The Luckiest Girl Alive,
Starting point is 01:02:44 where she is the victim of a really violent sexual assault. And Ashton Kutcher is part of a nonprofit organization that works to rescue sex trafficking survivors. So when I called them rape apologists, that was the hill I was willing to die on because I could not believe that these two were the ones that sent in a letter and it's one thing if you you know you think that you know you're homie and you want to do what's best no stay the fuck away from this wildfire and they didn't then they're knee deep in shit they're they look crazy so so let me let me address first on my the questions when we had
Starting point is 01:03:21 that discussion that I posed to you I'm'm like, what's wrong with writing a character letter? I was under the assumption, incorrectly, I've admitted it on Twitter, hey, look, I was wrong. And I learned this after we had already finished recording, that those letters were not written during the trial. Those letters were after conviction and were to the judge, hoping that the judge imposed
Starting point is 01:03:46 a lighter sentence i totally disagree with that now i'm knowing that having that extra information yeah i'm with you i'm 100 i was wrong in that and i'm 100 with you that's right yeah it's okay i'd be wrong sometimes. But, yeah, dog. Happens to the worst times. Your person was convicted of doing this horrible shit. I don't care if that's your man's, whatever it is. Hey,
Starting point is 01:04:11 if you want, don't say shit then. Right. But for you to come out here and still ask for leniency on them, it is absolutely, and now I understand why they were calling them
Starting point is 01:04:19 rape apologists. I get it. Yeah, man. That's me. One down in our duck hunt game. That's one down, big man. No, I stand with everything I said. Again, when we were talking initially, two down.
Starting point is 01:04:33 Nobody knew that it was a post-conviction. No, I did. I did. And we've been having a debate as to whether or not, you know, character letters and reference letters come into play during the court proceedings before conviction or acquittal or after. And we're still having that disagreement because I don't think that they do. I think that that would be interfering with the court proceedings. The letters come during the sentence recommendation portion of the trial kick them all it down man I mean I'm just saying right like it was just I was surprised at
Starting point is 01:05:12 the response like you know now you got a big door you got him I just again I don't know nothing about court proceedings I ain't a criminal and I don't really associate with criminals so I don't know that is true as your merch lets us know huh
Starting point is 01:05:29 yeah huh I'm gonna tell but um yeah I don't I didn't know that's really
Starting point is 01:05:36 it was just a learning moment for me does he have a t-shirt that says that that would be epic no he doesn't and he won't
Starting point is 01:05:42 I would not do that oh okay that's right Newark boys cower down back retreat no no no retreat Epic. No. He doesn't and he won't. I would not do that. Oh. That's right. Newark boys cower down back. Retreat. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:05:50 It's called accountability. And retreating. That's right. Score one for the Melites. So goofy. That's crazy. Look at that. He's got the Viola Davis face again.
Starting point is 01:06:03 Oh my God. You're going to stop making, you know what? Suck my dick, God damn it. Isn't that like the greatest piece of party advice you've ever gotten? I think so. I think so. It sounds like that whole show was nasty, too. All the interviews that have come out since.
Starting point is 01:06:19 Bro, I saw the one interview. I'm not sure who it was. They were interviewing, how do you say it? Mila? Mila? How do you say it? Mila Kunis. Okay, Mila. Because I keep who it was. They were interviewing, how do you say it? Mila? Mila? How do you say it? Mila Kunis. Okay, Mila. Because I keep fucking it up.
Starting point is 01:06:27 And she was like, yeah, I'm the whore on the show. And the dude, she was like, yeah, I've kissed every male on the show except for one person. And the host was like, well, damn, that's kind of messed up. She's like, yeah, it is. He's like, why are they writing you to do that? She's like, I don't know. I have no idea. I wish they didn't, but that's what they're up. She's like, yeah, it is. She's like, why are they writing you to do that? She's like, I don't know. I have no idea. I wish they didn't, but that's what they're writing,
Starting point is 01:06:48 so I just got to do it. The even crazier part is how old she was when she started working on the show. Yeah, she was 14 years old, and they were writing in her making out with all the dudes that were much older. Yeah, and the fact that she describes herself as the whore. Just the shit that people used to get away with
Starting point is 01:07:04 was fucking up. Was fucking crazy. Wednesday fun. What the fuck is going on? Flynn. Flynn. Don't call my name. Flynn.
Starting point is 01:07:17 I'll tell y'all something funny. Don't call my name. So let me tell y'all something. Don't call me. I'm trying to do it today. Let me tell y'all something funny. So I took my girl to a strip club Saturday, right? She.
Starting point is 01:07:30 How much money did you take out? A lot. I'm trying to see how to word this. She's a strip club novice. Okay. So it was very funny watching someone who don't really know what to do in a strip club. Navigate. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:07:48 First off, I took a couple stacks, whatever. I gave her some money. Her song come on through the whole stack. No. Now she's handing out ones. She's dancing like this. I'm like, yo, put the money down. What are you doing?
Starting point is 01:08:04 Yo, what are you doing? You waving the flag. Making money phones? Here they go. Here they go. Here they go. Here come the sharks. I was like, oh.
Starting point is 01:08:10 Here come the sharks. So now the first one gets, the first one, I tell, you know, tell her come around. So she's, she, she's done now. The girl won't leave. Like, she's like, okay. She, she don't understand this. So she's looking at me like, can you make her leave? She's still got money.
Starting point is 01:08:26 She's still giving her money. I'm like, baby, she's not going to leave until you stop spending. Actually, you got to tuck that. While it's in your hands, she's going to stay there. Oh, man, it was a blast, though. It was fun. It was fun. Just strip club.
Starting point is 01:08:38 Girls' strip club etiquette is different than ours. It was great. And they be nice. Women be nice in the strip club. Oh, yeah. They want to make friends and shit. Yo was great. And they be nice. Women be nice in the strip club. Oh, yeah. They want to make friends and shit. Yo, somebody, we don't like, we be like, yeah, just look right at you.
Starting point is 01:08:50 No, no, no. Every girl that walk by, shoe flop. Okay, I need more now. I'm like, no, but you, you bust 10 grand. They're running out your hands like Emmett. Yeah, 10 grand, we in a recession. I mean, I've never lost 10 grand. To the people that are doing that,
Starting point is 01:09:06 more power to you, aren't you? I've never spent 10 grand in a strip club in my life. Never. For 10 grand, you could buy a home. I've never spent two.
Starting point is 01:09:13 Talk about it. For real, honestly. Yeah. Foreclose. You get a raw fire, right? Go ahead.
Starting point is 01:09:21 Shout out to Ian and Red Panda. Get you some stock. You know what I'm saying? Get you some Microsoft, what what I'm saying Get you some Microsoft What'd he say Microsoft, Tesla, IBM And Google
Starting point is 01:09:29 Yeah do all that IBM No IBM Trip clubs But yeah Nah that shit was a blast though man Yo tell me about the The Ugandan kids
Starting point is 01:09:39 Oh that's crazy I can't wait till this doc comes out HBO's running a doc And they getting coming under fire for pushing a doc. It's about a white lady that moved to Uganda and was allegedly a fake doctor that opened up a fake clinic in which hundreds of Ugandan kids were dying under her care. and kids were dying under her care. And so now the HBO is pushing a doc about the lady
Starting point is 01:10:05 because she said the deaths weren't intentional or her actions weren't intentional. But if you're a fake doctor opening up a fake clinic, that's intentional. In Africa.
Starting point is 01:10:13 That was some intent, my nigga. Three-part doc. HBO doing it. You know Doc Holliday over here. He know about it. But the HBO's
Starting point is 01:10:23 coming under fire. They came under fire. So there was a lot of backlash. The problem with the backlash is y'all showed me the trailer to the doc. Got me now. You got to separate. You got to separate the backlash from the teaser. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:38 That teaser. If you see HBO now to make a fucking trailer. Oh, my God. They don't play. It looked great. Sorry to anybody that, you know, was hurt or harmed.
Starting point is 01:10:50 So the lady probably had to get some financial compensation for the doc. So basically, y'all just gave this chick money for some bullshit. I don't know if that's true.
Starting point is 01:11:00 Is she in the doc? The doc is going to be predicated on her? She got to get something. I don't mean she got a whole lot of money. I could have fleeced her. No, I said fleeced her. She got something?
Starting point is 01:11:10 No. It might be $700. We don't know. We don't know. We don't know that. She appeared is what we know. Gotcha. She appeared.
Starting point is 01:11:18 She's actually in the doc. Yeah, she's in it. Oh, yeah, she probably got paid that. She got paid to be in there. She's in it, going through it. She's explaining herself. She's in there saying shit like hey i do believe that we helped a bunch of kids also so this is white people's version of the bs high dude
Starting point is 01:11:35 bs doc certain things trying to go unsaid but this is the white people version of that he had a fake school she got a fake hospital what is the difference he said he was helping underprivileged kids
Starting point is 01:11:57 she said she was helping underprivileged kids yeah he was getting money from the state from everybody and from the state though and she was getting money from the state. From everybody. And from the state, though. And she was getting money from?
Starting point is 01:12:07 Probably everybody. What is the difference? Well, the difference is people died. Yeah, he was dying in that one. I'm talking about in the scam. I'm only talking about in the scam. I'm not talking about the severity of it all. So do we know if-
Starting point is 01:12:20 Because that's horrible. Do we know if that's- Disgusting. Like, was that the intention of her over there? It don't matter You intended to lie When you said No no no
Starting point is 01:12:27 I'm just saying Yes you intended to lie To make fake school I mean fake hospital I'm just saying Was she over there like This is an agenda Like I want to kill off
Starting point is 01:12:36 As many as possible It could be something like that They are saying White supremacy undertones Some people's opinion I don't know how valid it is But my nigga If you over there uh
Starting point is 01:12:45 experimenting on people and you don't have a medical degree it's disgusting my nigga what you talking about I'm with you you know I'm saying go do that shit in Poland somewhere like you went to Uganda do a shit in Switzerland they hang your ass by your toenails. Get the fuck out of here, Dodo. Thank you for that extra analysis. I'm like, you know. Get the fuck out of here, Dodo. Okay, but wait. So HBO is saying that they're receiving criticism, but are they still going to air it?
Starting point is 01:13:17 Melissa Board. Yes. They've spent money. They're going to air it. Criticism is a commercial. And if they don't air it, guess who's going to be knocking on the door? Me. Your door. money they're gonna air it criticism is a commercial and if they and if they don't air guess what gonna be me knocking on the door me you me you're having that good ass show y'all had that was dropping just let me get it then you ain't gotta air it that's anything for a dollar my nigga that's crazy criticism is a good commercial actually you see the uh so sad but the docs the docs are for scammers they're
Starting point is 01:13:44 not for victims yo i know victims think that the docs are for scammers. They're not for victims, yo. I know victims think that the docs are for them. The docs are not for victims. Very seldom does the doc ever result in some type of... Resolution. Healing. Yeah. Healing.
Starting point is 01:13:59 A lot of times you hear the story after the doc from the victim, where, hey, this doc is fucking me up and fucking my family up and making me have to read. Making shit worse. That is true. But the scammer, I'm telling you, that Boy Scout doc, I thought I had some good shit on the way. I ordered me some Uber Eats.
Starting point is 01:14:14 Ordered me some little catfish basket. Right there from the boil in Jersey City. Shout out y'all in case y'all want to give the nigga a discount. We was talking about the New York Liberty and now they offering us tickets to the game. Playoffs next week. Oh, we are. Playoffs next week. Mel, you can come.
Starting point is 01:14:31 Yo. Thank you. We also got an offer to go to Colorado. Come on, man. Huh? They gave me the date and want to know if, you know, I'll talk to everybody. Oh, with D? Okay.
Starting point is 01:14:47 With D? With D? With D? With Ty What? With D With D With D You talking about D? With D

Starting point is 01:15:06 I'm going to that Liberty game. That sounds fun. Yeah. What was we on just now before that? The Docs. Let me just tell you something about The Doc. The Doc. Listen. Oh, I'm lost.
Starting point is 01:15:15 Listen, I'm watching it. Sorry, that's it. That's what I got. Bro. They already tried to kill me for laughing at the BS High Doc. They did, yo. The internet can't kill me no more. They can't. For laughing at that?
Starting point is 01:15:27 Yes, because they said, what's nothing funny about it? The kids was getting taken advantage of. We up here have a shitty sense of humor, and we were... Yeah. But why I can't have a shitty sense of humor? Dark humor exists, too, you know. Why can't I... I defend my right to have a shitty sense of humor.
Starting point is 01:15:43 I don't want no sauce, bro. I'm just talking. We in America, there's a whole list of shit that's a lot shittier than my sense of humor. Y'all can't affect what I laugh at in the house? Nigga put 21-year-olds in a high school game when he has been. And y'all think I'm not about to laugh? What a fake school. Who the fuck are y'all? Put 21-year-olds and they got worked.
Starting point is 01:16:04 Yeah. They got smashed. And this is his second fake school that's the same as the a fake school. Who the fuck are y'all? Put 21-year-olds, and they got worked. Yeah. They got smashed. And this is his second fake school that's the same as the first fake school. I'm sorry. I'm ordering some seafood, some fucking crab legs, Alaskan shit, and I'm laughing. Oh, that reminds me. You were talking about the Boy Scouts documentary. You were getting all prepared for it.
Starting point is 01:16:19 Yeah, because they were too victim-focused. That sounds bad. Bro. Well, I mean, what the fuck? Yo, what's wrong with you? They supposed to be abuser-focused? You didn't know what the documentary was about? You agreed with me before I got to my point.
Starting point is 01:16:33 Now look at you, traitor, turncoat. Turncoat. What you mean? Before, you were like, yeah, no, it's about the scammers. I'm saying that this doc failed because it didn't highlight the scam really at all and this is different because that's not a scam what they were doing that's not a scam
Starting point is 01:16:50 that's sexual abuse it's not a scam over the course of decades it was gnarly you know what gnarly means? like in a bad way gnarly means bad gnarly means? What is it for? Like in a bad way. Gnarly means bad.

Starting point is 01:17:14 Ninja Turtles just reinterpreted it. Gnarly, dude. Thank you. Thank you. I thought gnarly was good. I thought it was good. Gnarly, dude. No.
Starting point is 01:17:21 Gnarly. Why y'all know that? Didn't Jay-Z say that? Gnarly, dude. Pop by Gnarly, dude. It's spelled G- I thought it was G- We dudes? No. Gnarly. Why y'all know that? Starting point is 01:17:28 Y'all are goofs for knowing this. Distasteful or distressing, offensive, gross. I learned something new. Happens every once in a while. Y'all need a better word for bad stuff. Gnarly don't sound like- Uh-oh. Gnarly, very dangerous and exciting.
Starting point is 01:17:46 That's what I got from the Ninja Turtles. Very bad, very difficult, unpleasant, disgusting. And that's from our tech experts. The show is the greatest. I got it from the turtles. That's what we got it from. That's what we got that shit from. I ain't never heard that word to the
Starting point is 01:18:04 turtles. Anyway, yeah, they were too focused on, like they spoke to all the victims. so we got it from I never heard that word to the turtles anyway yeah they were too focused on like they spoke to all the victims like y'all spoke to 30 40 kids lining them up their parents and they what's entertainment entertainment crying that's all that got almost got me mad at my mom again. When you get older, you realize why your mom was shoving you in all that shit back in the day. What? Come on, yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:32 Come on, sit me up the street. Boy Scouts, tie a knot. What about me saying to you that I want to go up there and tie a knot with them goofy niggas next to St. Al's. You might want to learn how to start a fire or something. I dropped out of that shit.
Starting point is 01:18:49 I dropped out before they could get me. I left that. None of you guys were in Boy Scouts? You want me to try to escape from the master not tired? That nigga just chained up a fish. You think I'm going to get out of eight? That nigga tied a triple butt bucket. A fridge?
Starting point is 01:19:14 A fridge, yeah. No, I can't escape. Ow. Help. Help. It gagged my mouth. Oh, my God. Wow.
Starting point is 01:19:23 What are y'all doing? In the woods. Oh, shit. Yo, wow. What are y'all doing? In the woods. Oh shit. Yo, bro, Blacks is not subscribing to that, yo. Anything my mom tried to put me in, and the first day I got there, they started talking about the uniform.
Starting point is 01:19:39 It didn't go great. I'm not wearing a fucking uniform. What type of goof you think this is? They tried to put the little green shit. Yellow ascot around it. They had a little thing. Fuck out of here. The Boy Scout shit was literally 250 feet from my house.
Starting point is 01:19:53 You think I'm walking with this clown shit on? A Boy Scout. No, for real. I think back and remember all the time. It was piano classes, after school, saxophone, boy scout. My mom was outside. Yo, boy scout. I started remembering all them trips to grandma.
Starting point is 01:20:15 Ah, no, shut up. You're going to grandma. I'm going, yo. You stupid. Oh, man. You're an idiot. And now the cycle changes. My son be like, no, no.
Starting point is 01:20:25 Stay with you. So? Nigga, you know who working tonight? I didn't want to say it. I didn't want to say it. I was about to say it. Nigga. I'm outside.
Starting point is 01:20:40 Nigga, the bar locked up tonight. With the hitters. See you tomorrow. With the heavy hitters. Holy shit. That's fucked up.. With the hitters. See you tomorrow. With the heavy hitters. Holy shit. That's fucked up. Yo, you stupid son. That's fucked up.
Starting point is 01:20:50 For real. I got eight grand right here. Daddy, no. Daddy, please don't leave. I don't want to go to grandma's. Nah. Sorry. Parents don't give a fuck.
Starting point is 01:21:01 She got soup for you. Oh, man. Hey, all y'all parents out there with y'all dirty ass kids, it's already starting. One day at school, my son come home with the sniffles. I'm going to fuck y'all up. My daughter's seizing this shit already. They said three days. The kids is getting sick in three days.
Starting point is 01:21:15 Day one. Day one with your nasty ass houses out there. Yo, what's wrong with you? No, for real. You can spot the dirty parents when you go pick your kid up. That's true, too. When you pick your for real, you can spot the dirty parents when you go pick your kid up. That's true, too. When you pick your kid up, you can spot the dirty parents. And then the houses, that's probably a little unruly.
Starting point is 01:21:31 You can see the kids. Like, oh. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I'm saying. Oh, yeah. That's what I'm saying. Hey, nigga, stop crawling through the hallway. Get up.
Starting point is 01:21:39 Get up. Rolling all around the ground. It's 3 o'clock. Then put your hands in your mouth. Yeah. Then when I come in your mouth. Yeah. Then when I come kick your kid, you're going to want to fight me. I ain't see little Tommy rolling around down here. Chicken nugget.
Starting point is 01:21:53 And then I'm going to hug your kid before they leave. Don't hug my fucking kid. Don't touch my kid. Don't touch my kid. Yo, stop trying to use niggas' kids to have small talk after school. Oh, little Joey. Nigga, we out. I'm not stopping so you
Starting point is 01:22:05 could talk to him no all of that no no no i'll try to give you his demo tape yo let me get your instagram i'm gonna see you i'll send this in the same class listen the kids knocking that the kids if you pay attention early is where you spot parents targeting other parents' households to become family and shit. I don't know if y'all want to get into this here. So they peep your watch to see if you're good for a sleepover? I'm just saying.
Starting point is 01:22:34 Oh, he got the truck. Oh, yeah, you get to be friends with that nigga. Your parents know which houses they want their kid to go to and which houses they don't want their kid to go to. And those talks be funny too. You think? I don't.
Starting point is 01:22:48 Who said what? I said you think? Yes. I don't have to think. I'm a parent. I was going to ask how you guys feel about like sleepovers.
Starting point is 01:22:57 Your kids having sleepovers. It's a hard one for me. Because I got dudes. You got to ask them this in 10 years. Nah, I said it's a hard one for me. Because I got daughters. You got to ask them this in 10 years. Nah, I said it's a hard one for me. You got to be prepared for it. I got daughters. It's a little different when you got sons.
Starting point is 01:23:13 I think you navigate that a little differently. Boys don't like to have sleepovers with their friends? Of course. Like when they're young, like super young. It's a little different. Before like 11. It's different now. What I have fun noticing in my oldest
Starting point is 01:23:25 is the pressure to work. Like for him, where is the time now to do all the things that come with courtship and women and the arguments and the relationship and she lives over here,
Starting point is 01:23:40 you don't have a car. No, she said sleepovers and having spending night sleepovers as kids. Yeah. Or somebody's house. No, she don't mean like car at all. No, she said sleepovers. And having spending night sleepovers as kids. That's true. At somebody's house. No, she don't mean spending night as adults. She mean when you're 10 years old and y'all spent the night over Kareem crib
Starting point is 01:23:54 when you was a kid. That's over with. I know parents that didn't do it. When I was young, I did it. But again, I think- Times have changed. Fuck that. I think you navigated it a little different
Starting point is 01:24:02 than boys and girls anyway. That's different now. Yeah, it's over with. We was trick navigated a little different than boys and girls anyway. That's different now. Yeah, it's over for that. We was trick-or-treating when we was young, too. That's true, too. Now it's trunk-or-treat. No, these niggas
Starting point is 01:24:10 still trick-or-treat. I won't be taking trunk-or-treat. They still trick-or-treat. I don't trust people's households. Trust people. There you go.
Starting point is 01:24:19 There you go. I went through something like that recently with somebody I know where they... their kid had their friend, they, they kid had they friend like his homeboy
Starting point is 01:24:28 spend the night at his house. But you got siblings. There's girls. See? That's why I said you navigate it. You navigate that differently.
Starting point is 01:24:38 As a boy, I mean, if you have a boy and you have a girl, you navigate that situation. There's no, if I got a brother and sister, there's no sleepovers over here and you're a little dirty. I flipped girl You navigate that situation There's no If I got A brother insisted There's no sleepovers over here
Starting point is 01:24:47 You little dirty ass friends I flipped out Her friends can stay It's fucked up Double standard Her friends maybe She can get to spend a night A sleepover
Starting point is 01:24:52 Your friends homeboy Not under this house My daughter went to a sleep at My cousin's house My uncle's house And I found out later on That there was You know my daughter
Starting point is 01:25:03 And my son But there was some boys there. It was like a whole sleepover. I lost my mind. Nigga, what? Hey, hey, princess, get your ass in the car now. Go pick her up now, JR. Go get princess right now.
Starting point is 01:25:13 And of course, my uncle did the right thing and had my children in the room next to his room. But still, I don't. Nigga, I was a kid before. I slept over and I went downstairs. You think I did. And I did a lot of shit, so I'm not... And Karma just so happens to visit me every once in a while. Nope.
Starting point is 01:25:31 Not with that one. That's really the big shit. You be sitting there like, you want to protect your kids from your karma. Exactly. You know what I'm saying? Like, I know the shit that I did. Nigga, you let me sleep over your house, and there's a girl my age that I like, nigga, and she's giving me the look.
Starting point is 01:25:47 Three in the morning. What do you want to say? You want to protect your kid from your karma. From your karma. Y'all think children are included. No, I can't say that. They say that. Y'all think children are included
Starting point is 01:26:00 in our karma. They say that everything is karma. Sometimes. They say that you pay for your sins as a father. Your karmic retribution can't... It ain't got to hit you.
Starting point is 01:26:06 It doesn't have to hit you. And also, yeah, no. Why can't we just... You know, I'm in the middle with that. Sometimes I just think life be lifin', man.
Starting point is 01:26:14 The same opportunities that we had and the decisions we make, our children have the same opportunity to make different decisions. And boys gonna be boys. I feel like people
Starting point is 01:26:21 want to find an excuse for everything. I'm not saying you, man. I'm just saying that's how I think. You just want to find a reason to blame. Not saying you, man. I'm just saying that's how I think. You just want to find a reason to blame. Oh, it's karma for what I did 40 years ago. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:29 People throw the word karma around a lot. Get the fuck out of here, wasn't it? Your kid made a dumb decision. Yeah. You wouldn't have done that because maybe as a child, your parent was more aggressive with you or more lenient. You might have been more street smart. You might have been more street smart.
Starting point is 01:26:43 So you ain't do no dumb shit. Your kid's a little naive. I hate that word karma though. Karma. Do you believe in it? Gaslight. I hate all these words. I hate all these new words, bro. I don't like the new ones, but karma ain't a new one. It's stupid because you can't light it without gas.
Starting point is 01:26:58 Exactly. And the definition is... I never will understand. Everybody uses that word. Gaslighting. Making a person feel like they're wrong when you're wrong. I think will understand. Everybody uses that word. You gaslighting. I hate it. Making a person feel like they're wrong when you're wrong, I think. That's what it is, right? Shut the fuck up.
Starting point is 01:27:11 No, I'm just trying to convince a story. I'm just trying to make you see my point. And one of them smart fucking college people tried to tell me one day that all of society is using the term gas light wrong because in order to gaslight you have to have some sort of relationship with the person because that's how it becomes gaslighting it means you know enough to manipulate to mislead that makes sense to you can't just gaslight a stranger you just don't know. You're just gaslighting me now I just met you. Now, I don't know
Starting point is 01:27:46 that to be true. You can look it up on your own. No, it's true. You know what's so crazy? Why anybody be using these fucking terms? Shut the fuck up.
Starting point is 01:27:53 They don't know what half these shit means. Shit becomes a buzzword and everybody starts using it all willy fucking nilly. People just want to use words to be down with shit.
Starting point is 01:28:00 All y'all motherfuckers manipulate. We all manipulate. But niggas just pick and choose what they want to acknowledge as manipulation. No, who they want to call out. Hold on. You manipulate your boss. Yo, I can't come in today, big dog.
Starting point is 01:28:11 I'm sick, dude. That's manipulation. You get in your way. Manipulate your kids all the time. Manipulate your kids. And yo, make sure if you go to sleep right now, you can get the candy tomorrow. That's a form of manipulation. Yes, it is.
Starting point is 01:28:24 Everyone manipulates. It's just about acceptance in society. That's a form of manipulation. Yes, it is. Everyone manipulates. It's just about acceptance in society. I think that shit is wack. Hey, yo, suck my dick, society. I heard, I heard, call me Joe.
Starting point is 01:28:34 Cool J was talking recently and he was talking about, I may be wording it wrong, but he was talking about the negative connotation that's attached to selfishness and he started talking about how having selfishness or he started talking about like
Starting point is 01:28:54 How having selfishness or being selfish can be positive in many ways his example used was they always want if you on the plane And the shit is about to go down You're gonna put your oxygen mask on and then you're gonna make sure that the person next to you maybe can put it on There's nothing wrong with you being selfish in that instant. I think there are positive and negative spins to things. Manipulation is one of them. One I think about all the time is trust, right? Like I've gotten on flights with women that maybe had some trust issues with me and would say things like, hey, I have trust issues.
Starting point is 01:29:21 I don't trust. I have a hard time trusting. And I would be there thinking, you have no idea just how much you do trust. You couldn't even function in life if I don't trust. I have a hard time trusting. And I would be there thinking, you have no idea just how much you do trust. You couldn't even function in life if you didn't trust. If you trust that this pilot is going to drive this shit correctly, you trusted that Uber driver to not fucking crash well enough so that you can go to sleep till we get there.
Starting point is 01:29:37 Like your trust kicks in in ways that you just pay absolutely no mind to. From complete strangers. That's a fact. That's true. That's a fact. That makes true. That's a fact. That makes sense. Thousand percent. We just use things at our convenience.
Starting point is 01:29:48 I just think everybody groupies, and they just hear these terms, and they rock with the terms, and they run with it. And most times, they don't even know what that shit means. I saw some shit where a nigga was talking about narcissism, and he was basically going on to say how if you look up the definition of narcissism, it means like believing highly in oneself. He's saying, why would we push our kids away from narcissism? And then he conversely read the definition of being humble. And whatever dictionary he used, the definition of humble was almost like mad passive, not having any.
Starting point is 01:30:23 Backbone. Yeah. Hoping yourself. I mean, faith in yourself, et cetera, et cetera. And he's like, we always try to commend the humble and we shoot at the narcissist or narcissism. And he was like, yo, it should be the opposite. So these buzzwords be having people running around.
Starting point is 01:30:38 They don't know what the fuck they be saying. They just say it because it's popular. I totally agree with that. Like, niggas don't be knowing what shit mean. Like, weak means you lack discipline. Weak means you cannot support your own weight. You can't carry the spot you stand in. Niggas can't afford a funeral, but be ready to die. That's deep.
Starting point is 01:31:10 Come on. Yeah, you want to rap so bad, yeah. You ought to put that in a nice bar. I ain't going to hold you. That is a nice little bar. You ought to spun that one around. That's a nice little bar. You ought to do something pirouette with that one.
Starting point is 01:31:22 It's true. I'm going to come in here when I do Improv or Improv 2 and really get my bars off. Get my shit off. After you leave. Absolutely. What do you think you're going to do with you?
Starting point is 01:31:37 Honestly, you think I'm going to let you leave? Yeah. How do you see it in your head? Do you see me grabbing at your leg? Nah, I don't see it.
Starting point is 01:31:43 Yo, know where you think you're going. You got too much pride and ego to't see it. Yo, know where you think you're going. You got too much pride and ego to do that. You think so? I think that you're going to let me leave. I think, because I'm your man. If that's something I want to do, you're going to say, yo. You know, as long as I complete my obligations.
Starting point is 01:31:57 You did what you had to do here. The goal was to always escalate, ascend, graduate. I want you to see you do better. You think I want to see you do better? I do think you want to see me do better. I do think that you have a conversation with me, graduate. I want you to see you do better. You think I want to see you do better? I do think you want to see me do better. I do think that you'll have a conversation with me, though. Like, if it comes to that, I think that you'll give me the opportunity
Starting point is 01:32:10 to express myself, and that's the type of person you are. You'll listen. Now, would you abide by it? I don't think so. Yo, I want to tell y'all. I was telling Flip. That's my man.
Starting point is 01:32:21 And I do want to see you do better. I'm joking around. I want to... Stop calling my shit persons then. Call it Late Night Black and White. Say it. What's the name of it? Late Night Black and White?
Starting point is 01:32:29 He didn't know the name of it. I didn't know the name of it. See, that's what I'm saying. What's that shit? It didn't matter. I gotta stop doing that. I was coming to help my man. It didn't matter if it was called
Starting point is 01:32:37 Purple Smoke. Help is knowing the name. No, it ain't. Help is showing up. Yeah, so you can say it and tell your publicist when you're doing LinkedIn. When you're doing your LinkedIn Say it
Starting point is 01:32:46 Cause you'll say It recently appeared on I put it in my reels It's facts though Why you post that Old ass picture of the cowboy The cowboy logo Yo
Starting point is 01:32:56 That shit was mad Oh Hey here's what happened The shit was fire But when It wasn't Can I finish So what happened was
Starting point is 01:33:04 When you cropped it to fit Instagram yeah when you put it in the Android that's all I heard yeah like why you don't know how to post
Starting point is 01:33:12 40 to nothing you can't even post a wavy pic of your logo nah that's not true you had the white stripe at the top still with the Instagram
Starting point is 01:33:20 cropping and fucked up don't do that again the definition of the picture don't do that y'all looked like BS High. Yeah. Y'all was BS High.
Starting point is 01:33:28 Yeah. Y'all BS John. I don't have anything to say. I know you don't. I mean, I saw the fans like, oh, make sure you get Joe because blah, blah, blah.
Starting point is 01:33:40 Y'all ain't heard a word out of me that assumed that the Giants would be something. Actually, in our talks behind the scenes, I hate when you suck your teeth at me. You used to be my man. In our talks behind the scenes, I say I don't know what they're going to do.
Starting point is 01:33:55 I don't think we're going to be as good as we were last year. I think we'll take a step back. I think y'all are going to be way better. I don't think we'll be better than last year. Way better. I don't see better than last year. One. And when it came to the Dallas game,
Starting point is 01:34:06 all I keep saying was, I got to see. On paper, Dallas is much better to carry, but I got to see what Dallas offense looks like and what everything from the Giants look like. And I didn't watch that game. Y'all was tweeting me, X-ing me,
Starting point is 01:34:19 threading me. Yo, let me tell y'all what my new shit is. Ignoring all you niggas. That shit is so wavy, yo. And the waviest part about it is Sunday come, I wake up, wipe my eyes. And the stupid-ass Apple people want to send me my screen time at the top. They be like, oh, shit, Joe Budden. Your screen time down.
Starting point is 01:34:39 They be surprised. Your screen time down 16%, big dog. It's almost like I'm in a contract with them. They say, oh, shit. Yeah. Oh, shit, Joe Budden. You ain't been using this, nigga. What up? your screen time down 16% big dog it's almost like I'm in a contract with them they said oh shit yeah oh shit you ain't been using this nigga what up
Starting point is 01:34:49 yeah no so Giants not gonna be bad I didn't take I didn't think much of the game they're not gonna be bad we'll see I don't care
Starting point is 01:34:55 we'll see I don't care about them it was a rainy game football is on and I got a fantasy team that's 2-0 I was glued to the Atlanta game
Starting point is 01:35:02 I was glued to the Falcons game I drafted B. John Robinson on both my teams yes how you 2-0. I was glued to the Atlanta game. I was glued to the Falcons game. I drafted B. John Robinson on both my teams. Yes. How are you 2-0 in week one? Because I'm in two leagues. Two leagues. Alright. 2-0. You're 1-0 in two leagues, Joe. You're not 2-0.
Starting point is 01:35:16 B. John looks like him, though. Thanks. Fucking math, man. I'm 2-0. What's 1-1? 2. Oh. That's what you did there. Hold on. Since we are talking fantasy, can I have a second real quick?
Starting point is 01:35:32 Please. Sir. You got me. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Shut it up. Hell no. Shut it up. Be humble.
Starting point is 01:35:39 Sit down. Be humble. I'm sitting and I'm pretty humble. Sit down. Let me sit up. With your smug ass. You lost me. We got your smug ass. I lost. No, no and I'm pretty humble. Sit down. Let me sit up. With your smug ass. You lost. We got your smug ass.
Starting point is 01:35:48 I lost. No, no, no, no, no. Don't say we. Mute it up. You ain't getting nothing. Mute it up. I distinctively remember. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:35:56 And your teeth. I played ice this week, and I ain't worried about him at all. You said that. I did. On the last broadcast. That's what you said. That's that smug shit. I'm ice.
Starting point is 01:36:04 You played me. If I'm smug, what the fuck is you? A winner. I don't think I did. On the last broadcast. That's what you said. That's that smug shit. I'm Ice. You played me. If I'm smug, what the fuck is you? A winner. I don't think I'm... And I'm whatever's worse than smug. I'm not smug. I'm bad. Is there anything you want to say? You got it. Start with I'm sorry, Black King.
Starting point is 01:36:24 Can you tell the audience why you were so dismissive of Ice's squad? I didn't think his squad looks that good on paper. Ice, no. You weren't familiar with his game? You had to apologize you weren't familiar with his game? I made a coaching error, man. Jerry Judy was supposed to, he was injured and then he was in and then he was injured at the game time and I missed it.
Starting point is 01:36:43 Coaching error means a lot. Coaching error. Especially when you're smug as a coach. And I'll say to you, if you lost on the Jerry Judy play, then you weren't going to just definitively wipe ice. I wasn't a definitively one. No. Okay.
Starting point is 01:36:58 That's all I wanted. You got it. Congratulations on your W. Appreciate that. I'm sure we'll play again later in the year. Yo, shout out to all the fantasy dudes out there that ain't lost a game yet. Shout out to teams that are 1-0 in the room,
Starting point is 01:37:09 actual teams, not fantasy. We're talking about real world teams. Teams that are at the top of the performance chain of the week, which would be me and Ish. You still supporting football after what they did to Kaepernick? Just loyal. Wait, for real? All he did was take a knee.
Starting point is 01:37:25 You still watching? He took that take a knee. You still watching? He took that knee for us. You still watching? Wow. Yeah, I couldn't do it. Couldn't be me. Couldn't be me. I ain't seen no games.
Starting point is 01:37:32 Oh, yeah, Steelers lost too, huh? I don't know. Did they? They did. I don't watch that shit. I stand with Kaep. I know. You sit with the Steelers.
Starting point is 01:37:41 Who fucking talks? I don't miss the stress that comes along with fantasy football. I don't at all. It was a stressful Sunday. Like, I really didn't care nothing about what my real-life teams were doing. I care about the Cowboys, but I definitely was on fantasy.
Starting point is 01:37:53 It's even worse when you're going into a dogfight into the Monday night game. At least let me know, all right, we was like, what, two points apart? Yeah, I was up by three, I think. Going into the Monday night game. But you had a kicker and Brees. Would you like to talk about your Dolphins? You seem rather proud. Very proud.
Starting point is 01:38:12 Felt like the 90s Dolphins, damn Reno era. Oh, my Lord. They did. They did. Y'all got a clue. That was the game of the week. You just hating over there. That was an amazing football game.
Starting point is 01:38:22 It was damn near playoff atmosphere in the fucking first game of the season. Amazing game. Tua out-dueled your man. Smoked his boots. Out-dueled. In his house. Out-dueled. Put a fucking damn near record set in numbers. Top three.
Starting point is 01:38:39 No, he can do that when he's breathing. I'm with you. Your quarterback is the worst quarterback in the league. I don't want to hear you talk quarterbacks to me. He's not the worst. That performance was disgusting. He keeps trying to attack me, and I keep trying to not defend the Giants at all. Yo, the Giants not that bad.
Starting point is 01:39:01 I have not said a word about them, but I don't care. I don't care. Niggas posted a picture of Saquon Barkley outfit, that little motorcycle jacket and a tank top and some shit. They was like, oh, we about to lose by 40. And sure enough, they was right. Lost by 40. We did, right by 40.
Starting point is 01:39:15 Called it. Then somebody else called the Aaron Rodgers shit. They was like, yo, tonight Aaron Rodgers is going to tear his ACL in the rain on MetLife's turf. I didn't like seeing that, though. Yeah, that wasn't it. Because it's going to be hard for him to bounce back at this age, too. Okay, can I defend a dark sense of humor?
Starting point is 01:39:36 Please. Better than anything. I have a dark sense of humor, y'all. Me, too. Now, with that said, that shit was hilarious. Of course, we're sad that he's hurt. And of course're sad for jet fans i do have a heart i saw a million little things come on and this is us i have a heart but you cannot come on but you can't tell me that that grandiose entrance with all of them lights and all of those screaming fans. It looked like the Super Bowl with him holding the flag,
Starting point is 01:40:07 running out, whole team behind him, fresh off a hard knocks. Like we've had a six, seven week runway up to this. It was a lecture. All the major networks saying that this is a Super Bowl team. This is the best team. The odds decreased by more than half for them to win the Super Bowl like the energy getting sucked
Starting point is 01:40:30 out of that building on the very first drive dog Tyler Perry couldn't script this no better than this he was running around for his life after I just watched him
Starting point is 01:40:40 screaming at the O-line for four episodes that O-line is bad he was running for his life it was the funniest thing in the world I just watched them screaming at the O-line for four episodes. That O-line is bad. He was running for his life. It was the funniest thing in the world. So then when he didn't get up, he's like, oh, now look at you for laughing at us yesterday, laughing at my Giants.
Starting point is 01:40:58 Now look, back to Zach. Zach, come on now, Zach. Hey, Big Zach. Oh, they almost took him out the game. Yeah, he got fucked up. They almost took him out the game. Yeah he got fucked up They almost took him out the game He got fucked up Do y'all think that I'm surprised he got up
Starting point is 01:41:09 Do y'all think that Colin Kaepernick Deserves an opportunity With the New York Jets Absolutely No Yes I mean opportunity
Starting point is 01:41:15 Oh opportunity Yeah Opportunity What did you say no to Yeah why'd you say no I don't think Why'd you say no Coon
Starting point is 01:41:22 I mean Ice That man ain't played football in how many years? That's why. That's why. Well, I mean. It's hard to, the game moves. You haven't competed and played in years. Does it matter that he says that he's been keeping himself in shape?
Starting point is 01:41:38 You can say it's keeping yourself in shape and playing competitively against world-class athletes is two different things. Which he was one at then. You got to be able to block out the noise. You the noise. You got to be able to block out the noise. Especially when I speak to his wife. And this is like, yo, do you know how it feels as a wife to watch your husband get up still every morning at 4 a.m. And go work out in hopes that
Starting point is 01:42:06 one day the phone might ring and if the phone rings you have to be in shape. I was about to cry with her. I'm fucked up listening. Like, oh, it's so wrong. What an injustice. It would be a hell of a storyline though. Not for nothing. Well, that's what I'm saying. Jeff Hens was
Starting point is 01:42:22 talking about Tom Brady coming back. He's not coming back. He's not coming back. He's the owner of the Raiders. He can't come back. He's not coming back. And I wouldn't want to see him come back anyway with the Jets. Like, Patriots, Jets. Unless he sold his Raiders stake. But I doubt that he would.
Starting point is 01:42:34 So now they start talking about names like Nick Foles, Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan. Like, the bums are the bums with the exception of Nick Foles depending on how his health is. The bums are the bums, with the exception of Nick Foles, depending on how his health is. If Colin Kaepernick just has to beat out Matt Ryan, respectfully, Carson Wentz, and maybe Nick Foles, yeah, I think he deserves a shot. A shot, yeah, but do I think... He deserves a shot.
Starting point is 01:42:59 I don't think he's going to be... And if there were ever a team, like, suited for what we remember his ability to be, it's the Jets. You got two stud running backs. You got a depleted O-line kind of so he can run around. And you do have receivers that can create separation and get the ball. I think it would be a beautiful NFL story. So beautiful that the NFL might not back it. That's too beautiful of a story for the NFL to back.
Starting point is 01:43:28 Yeah, because they look like dog shit. If he came back out of nowhere and just kicked up, they'd look so horrible. And that's just not their agenda, right? Like Ian calls me the other day. And we don't talk football. We talk business. But he calls the other day and he says, Hey, buddy.
Starting point is 01:43:42 I'm watching these football games. You see how many medicine ads they're giving us? And I was like, well, yeah, because I notice stuff like that because those commercials are funny to me, too. It's mad pharma. Yeah. The commercials for the girls, they trying to kill our girls. Nigga, they trying to kill everybody. Yo.
Starting point is 01:44:02 Yeah, but they'll just shoot us. They trying to. Possible causes. Yeah, they trying to con the girls. Possible side effects include nausea, blindness. Yeah. Look, but they'll just shoot us. They're trying to- Possible causes. Yeah, they're trying to call on the girls. Possible side effects include nausea, blindness. Death, yeah. Look, nausea, blindness. Kidney stones, kidney stones, blood clots, breast cancer.
Starting point is 01:44:11 And at the very end, they be like- And in small cases, death. They just gradually increase headaches, nausea, seizures. Word. Like, yo, it just gets progressively worse. This shit is for a cough. And in minor cases, death. Like, no, I'm going to just go ahead and stick with the gangrene on my toes. Word Like yo It just gets Progressively worse This shit is for A cough In minor cases
Starting point is 01:44:26 Death Like nah I'm just gonna Stick with the Gangrene On my toe I'm good I'm cool fam
Starting point is 01:44:32 I'm done Anyway I saw something On the news this morning I'm not gonna Serious this out But I thought I would mention it
Starting point is 01:44:39 FDA approves New COVID-19 Boosters Nope They're just waiting On approval From the CDC. All the docs about the Sackler family tell me that the CDC will approve this.
Starting point is 01:44:53 They will approve. We could come up with some shit in that kitchen in there. If it's going to make money, it'll get approved. There you go. I ain't going to lie. If one of y'all do a doc on the Sackler family, I'm going to watch it. They just moved like none of us mattered.
Starting point is 01:45:08 Man. I don't care what they putting in that shit. It won't be in me. Pause. Good pause. But you was big facts. I was big wrong. Oh, my nigga.
Starting point is 01:45:21 Look at that. Accountability. Why everybody look down on just being wrong? No, I appreciate it. It's all right. It's all right. I'm not going to get it. I'm not getting that shit.
Starting point is 01:45:31 I'm not getting it again. I'm done. I don't have any regrets, but I'm not getting it. It's not even regrets. I'm just done. Aren't they going back to us having to show proof of vaccination in restaurants and all? They are saying that they're leaning toward it. Back to cooking.
Starting point is 01:45:44 They're leaning toward it. You to cooking. They lean in toward it. Humans act so helpless. We won't be able to go to the Broadway play if we don't tell them the proof of vaccination. Oh, no Broadway. I know a tap dance that little nigga named Raheem. He knows it. He go right to Lincoln Center,
Starting point is 01:46:00 nigga. Oh, look. They're on the screen. You won't be able to get into the Knit game if you don't show vaccination. That's what y'all think. Corey wasn't going to get no vaccine. We going to that Knit game, though. The inch was in the garden.
Starting point is 01:46:16 Come on. I got 100 guns on and clips. I was like. Okay, what's wrong with you? You hit the not rule? What the hell was that? I was like, you know what I'm saying? Right.
Starting point is 01:46:28 It's cool. Why they playing with us like we ain't got no tools and resources on the ground level? Like we can't hit somebody to get us to fake vaccination shits. Now where they get tricky now. Snitchy Sam. Is when you start flying around trying to do your little, where you like to go? Istanbul or some shit? You always like to go to Istanbul.
Starting point is 01:46:46 Joe. Istanbul. I went. Yo, chill out. I ain't gonna say nothing. You good. It's a podcast. No, no.
Starting point is 01:46:53 Why you not gonna say nothing? Because I'm not incriminating myself. Roger Rabbit. Nigga, you can get around stuff. Yes, you can. America's made for circumventing. Them niggas in them vans. Niggas in them vans. Niggas in them vans.
Starting point is 01:47:05 Hey, yo. Hold your head here. They pushing that charade to garbage. They signing. I got like five of them shits. Them niggas in them vans. Them niggas in them vans. I'm fucking far rock away. Parked in Queens Boulevard.
Starting point is 01:47:21 They had a nigga close the curtain. Them niggas in them vans. I got like five of them. I need three for my kids, nigga, close the curtain. Let me get this shit right here. I had, like, five of them. I need three for my kids, nigga. Where are your kids at? They're not here. I'm going to wait for you. Shit crazy, bro.
Starting point is 01:47:35 Holy shit. Can you imagine? You took the vaccine, yes? Yo. Oh, good. Oh, shit. Nigga, see that? 43.
Starting point is 01:47:43 I'm telling you. Okay. 42 would have dropped that. Yeah. Oh, man. You, shit. Nigga, 43. 43. I'm telling you. Okay. 42 would have dropped that. Yeah. Oh, man. You took the vaccination, man? You got vaccinated? Hmm?
Starting point is 01:47:51 All right. Forget it. It's never a quick answer out of you. Yeah. No. You didn't? Mm. What are you doing?
Starting point is 01:48:00 It was a four. I don't want to answer. Oh. HIPAA. Then you have to at least say that. Okay, there we go. HIPAA, the fuck? Then you have to at least say that. Okay, there we go. Thank you. HIPAA, you can't force me to answer about my medical history.
Starting point is 01:48:10 Right. That is invasive. We just start asking shit that's private, like it's casual. I mean, I guess you get through. All right, okay. You got vaccinated? Yeah, I don't know. That's funny.
Starting point is 01:48:22 Exactly. I know something is wrong With that Vax Cause it felt too good When they put it in my vein What? What is it to your body? Shit felt good A lot
Starting point is 01:48:31 It felt like when you I'm a sick fuck When you get burned And you pee right That shit felt like They put some free on Wait wait wait Wait come on
Starting point is 01:48:37 Wait what'd you say? Joe had said that Burning pee You a freaky boy I'm not a boy You can't call me boy Hey Oh shit I'm on some shit with y'all I'm on some shit Be careful I said that, Joe. Burning P? You are a freaky boy. You can't call me boy. Hey. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 01:48:45 I'm on some shit with y'all. I'm on some shit, huh? Be careful. I came here and spat at you. Yo. Oh, man. I called you to the cut of your crib. You keep ducking me, man.
Starting point is 01:48:56 He ain't called me. I called you, Pox. Wait, this weekend? Yes. I was in the area. I wanted to talk to you, man. Come there, hang out, and talk. Let's talk about it right now.
Starting point is 01:49:04 What? OK. I got the call this morning, but I wanted to talk to you, man. Come there, hang out and talk. Let's talk about it right now. Well, okay. I got the call this morning, but I wanted to hang out with Paz because we had an idea that would shake up the internet, so that's why I called him. But I did come in here aggressive this morning. You care to share it with the audience? Because you tell
Starting point is 01:49:19 the story better than me. I don't do that anymore. Okay. I think the audience... No more fifth wall. You did say... I'm not giving them nothing. I don't do that anymore. Okay. I think the audience No more fifth wall. You did say. Okay. I'm not giving them. I'm not giving them either. If you do want to give it to them, I support you and I'm standing behind you. I came in this morning because I received a call about the Patreon episode
Starting point is 01:49:36 that everybody is talking to me about on Twitter and stuff like that. I told them suck my dick. I'm going to turn up on mail again. Even though I'm being facetious, I got a call this morning after asking my brothers here at the podcast to please bleep that whole part out. I got a call by calling one of the women bitches. Bitch. While I was joking and apologizing to mail, I thought about, oh, I know somebody that knows this person. I used the wrong name. I tried to
Starting point is 01:50:03 back it up. I tried to, take that out. It wasn't. Only the word bitch was bleeped out so you still know I said the word bitch. I got a call at 8.30 this morning and I wasn't too happy about it.
Starting point is 01:50:13 I almost slipped out my shower. You know, I was kind of aggressive on the phone. You take phone calls in the shower? Yes, I do. I do.
Starting point is 01:50:21 You got to put on a speaker. I got to shower with the shit in the tunnel. Press the button, but yeah. So I came in here flipping this morning. Yeah. And I did apologize to Mel and everybody for saying the word bitch. Shout out to Queen Latifah, man.
Starting point is 01:50:40 That's fucked up. I came in here. I bought this single as a man that was doing B&E's. That shit is hard. Big Jersey. Joe was standing right next to me early this morning like this. She did both of the national anthems, right? Giant Saint and Jets game. She did?
Starting point is 01:50:54 I didn't see them. She did the Giants. I saw the Jets one. I didn't know she did the- Oh yeah, because the kids didn't know that Queen Latifah can sing. Yeah. Yeah. We that old now.
Starting point is 01:51:03 Yo, we are done. We that old now. It happens so fast, though. It happens fast, for me at least. The person, one of the people that was like, why is she doing an anthem?
Starting point is 01:51:14 Didn't double back was like, yo, Queen Latif was not even famous enough for y'all to be getting this upset over me saying it. And I was like,
Starting point is 01:51:20 dog. I'll start buck 50 and niggas over there. I was like, dog, wait. That's disrespectful. Don't play with us. Stop playing with us.
Starting point is 01:51:27 It's bad enough y'all disrespect our Jersey legend, Lauryn Hill, but I'm not going to allow this Queen Latifah. Slander. When's she sung the national anthem? The Giants game. The Jets game. Both games. Sports.
Starting point is 01:51:40 I didn't even know she can sing. You should probably keep up with sporting events and when they're released so that you don't release shows as the game is on because it would affect. Oh, but I had a lot of people in there, though. Salute. 900, almost 1,000 people watching live. You know, I put numbers up.
Starting point is 01:51:55 Salute. Salute to you. Yeah. Don't clap. Don't clap for me. Shout out to Shad, Poo. Better call Ken. Just sit up, huh?
Starting point is 01:52:04 Fuck wrong with y'all, huh? I'm standing ten toes with my man. Y'all did that during the game? Yeah, on football day. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know why you do that. Because we can.
Starting point is 01:52:14 No, no, no. You can do that. We can. It shows companies that no matter what adversity is there, you can still. What adversity? Adversity. Whatever the word. Adversity, adversary, whatever.
Starting point is 01:52:24 Anniversary. It's fine. See, don't make fun. What adversity is there, no matter what, nigga, I shine through the mud, nigga. I'm like Kane. That's how Carrie Underwood playing the drums like her? Yeah, yeah. Give me a gunshot.
Starting point is 01:52:37 Give me a gunshot. Here we go. Yeah. Through the mud again. Did we see what? Carrie Underwood, you know she does the Sunday Night Football shit. She sat down at the drums like her. I did. I was like, oh man.
Starting point is 01:52:49 I did not see that. I did not see that. I saw Malika Andrews here. I saw a bony ass chicken leg walking up the stage. Why Malika Andrews keep doing that? Oh, sorry. No, no, no, no. Oh, triggering. No, no, no, no. Oh, triggering.
Starting point is 01:53:07 No, no, no, not at all. Trigger warning. Not at all. We got to get applause ready. Come on, come on, come on. Uh-oh. Applause ready. Coco Gauff.
Starting point is 01:53:17 Coco Gauff. Come on now. Come on. Come on now. Come on. The tennis queen. The tennis girl. The tennis lady.
Starting point is 01:53:24 Oh, yeah. You ain't even right on the board. Wow. That's our bad. Shout on. The tennis queen. The tennis girl? The tennis lady? Oh, yeah. You ain't even right on her. Wow. That's our bad. Shout out to her, man. Pardon us, queen. Yes. She made me want to go to a tennis game.
Starting point is 01:53:33 I'm sorry. I wasn't familiar with your game. That's what I got. Y'all go ahead. No, I was a little bit. I wasn't familiar with her game. I wasn't at all. Are you familiar now? She lost the first set.
Starting point is 01:53:45 She been coming. And she's going through some bullshit. Like, they've been robbing her a little bit. I wasn't familiar with her game. I wasn't at all. Are you familiar now? She lost the first set. She been coming. And she's going to do some bullshit. Like, they've been robbing her a little bit. She's been arguing with the refs. She's been arguing with the refs. I saw that. We talked about that behind the scenes. And she came through.
Starting point is 01:53:56 I appreciate it. All the emotion that she showed, like, that was genuine emotion. She was overwhelmed. It was fly. Coco. See, I had a nice clip. I was going to put that on my stories, too. Why didn't you?
Starting point is 01:54:08 Niggas started cracking on my Dallas star. I just went. Because she was blurry as hell, bro. Blurry ass clip. Couldn't tell that was a Dallas star at all. Listen, Ish. Ish. Ice, chill out.
Starting point is 01:54:17 I'm good. They are announcing the new iPhones as just yesterday. Who can't remember that, Ice? The iPhones are for pre-order Friday. Are you still doing that? Get you aorder Friday. Are you still doing that? Get you a new phone. Are you still doing that? Ice, don't they say you're not supposed to order the first batch of iPhones?
Starting point is 01:54:31 No, they say that about all technology. Oh, okay. Bugs and all that. I get day one. I'm getting that shit. Day one. I'm getting it too, even though I don't understand what to do different from this phone, but I am going to get it.
Starting point is 01:54:42 Oh, shit. Hot as hell right now. Just going on Instagram. It should be fucking too hot to touch. Your phone? Yeah, yeah. They pull this phone, but I am going to get it. Oh, shit. Hot as hell right now. Just going on Instagram. It should be fucking too hot to touch. Your phone? Yeah, yeah. They pulled the sabotage.
Starting point is 01:54:49 They pulled a little sabotage. New phone coming out. Yeah, but how old is your phone? It's an 11, so it's old. Son of a bitch. Hey, you're getting
Starting point is 01:54:57 a lot of money. Mr. Future A&R. I don't buy a new phone every year. I know, salute. The 11 is like... The 11 is crazy, Paul. It's like 2014. That's why that shit is heating up. You got to upgrade the cooling system. It's vintage, salute. The 11 is like... The 11 is crazy, Paul. It's like 2014.
Starting point is 01:55:05 That's why that shit is heating up. You got to upgrade the cooling system. It's vintage, yo. You got 11C or G11? 11S. That's when they had the... Yeah. They had the pink shit?
Starting point is 01:55:15 The pink one? The little girly phone? With the plastic back? No. Is there anything else of note that we need to know about from the Apple conference? Again, like I say all the time. They said new headphones is coming out in different colors, new watches. Like I was telling y'all before, if you, like you, you would benefit from an upgrade.
Starting point is 01:55:34 Oh, yeah, I love upgrades. You don't have to upgrade your phones every year. Because I see every year it's the same talk. It's, oh, it's the same phone as last year, just minimal improvements. Well, yes, because it's really meant for the people who didn't upgrade last year or the year before last like your phone has meant to last you three four years true so when he gets a new phone it's going to be night and day for him me getting a new phone i'm going to be used to a lot of this it's going to be damn near the same thing they added a new button they finally put usbc into these phones which me and parks have been waiting for what
Starting point is 01:56:03 does that mean the course now we use Now it uses all new chargers. All new chargers. But they're more universal. The charger is more universal, like radios, speakers, a bunch of products that are not eye-based. They all use USB-C, whereas the eye shit used to only use your little Apple cord. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:56:22 Thank you. And it's a faster charge, faster data transfer. It's just, yes, much faster. It's literally, it's been a much better cord for the longest. They've just been running from it
Starting point is 01:56:33 because they were selling their own cord. And they're selling it separately or they're giving it with this iPhone? No, this is coming with the, it's the power cord. Last time they sold it separately
Starting point is 01:56:40 charging and stuff. They charged the box separately. They charged the little block separate. Same shit. No, it's not the same shit. The cord. They charge the little block separate. Same shit. This is the cord. No, it's not the same shit. The cord that comes in the box is what we talking about.
Starting point is 01:56:50 Hold on. Telling you you got to get to sleep. Nah. He is that. Like Ice Fighters. Don't play with him by the end of the day. Don't play with him. No, it's not the same cord.
Starting point is 01:56:58 Oh, man. Invisalign. They do two totally different things. Invisalign got you acting different. I feel it. You hold different ice cream. You look good. I ain't get a good night'sign got you acting different. I feel it. You hold different heights. You look good.
Starting point is 01:57:06 I don't want no problems. I didn't get a good night's sleep. Not getting me. Somebody knock that Invisalign right out of his little shit. Oh, man, yo. Can I go to the... Invite me to the speakeasy. I want to talk to you about that, too.
Starting point is 01:57:19 Oh, you on that list, too. No. You on that list, too. It's different on side with me. You know that. I don't know that. You play with the narrative with these people. Like, I'm just upset.
Starting point is 01:57:28 You ordered nuggets with me two times, and that was our last outing. No, we had a great time. We went out to eat. We had a great conversation. I'm calm. I'm not hurt. You and Mel can come with us. Where'd y'all go?
Starting point is 01:57:39 Who? Yeah. How can we not get into that, man? Because you don't invite nobody to know where you go with you and Becky and them. You don't invite us with them Yeah Or Randa Yeah
Starting point is 01:57:47 Sex in the city City in the city Y'all motherfuckers Always make fun My accountability partner Yeah Oh my god You in Central Park
Starting point is 01:57:55 Hoppy Give me a fan Did y'all see Mel That Mel has an accountability partner What does that mean Yeah She's my workout partner That's not what you said
Starting point is 01:58:04 When you're accountability buddy she's my workout partner oh that's not what you said when your accountability buddy you call your workout partner somebody who keeps you accountable in the gym i know you wouldn't know anything about that wow i'm sorry it's easy to see when you look at now if you look closely back down okay oh shit hold on wait stop he's gonna get you back and when he Hey. OK. Oh, shit. Hold on, wait, stop. He's going to get you back. And when he gets you back, I'll have to let it go. I'm sure he is. That was a crazy one for real.
Starting point is 01:58:30 He's going to get you. He's going to get you back. But your accountability, buddy, in the gym. And depending on how hard I get her, she might do that fucking thing she do. Hold on. Start crying and get up and run out. Daisy.
Starting point is 01:58:43 Daisy. Daisy. Yo, you're stupid dog A little emotional support dog That she's abusing By putting on a pink A pink tutu Cause it's the dog's birthday It is adorable right
Starting point is 01:58:53 It's the dog's birthday And she got some stupid Pink outfit on her door Women don't need pets Why Why is that a bad thing That's not abuse It's not a bad thing
Starting point is 01:59:01 How do you know It's not a bad thing How do you know Because obviously It was sanctioned by PETA. What? PETA would have stopped it, no? Listen.
Starting point is 01:59:14 PETA stop anything with animal abuse. No, they don't. It was pouring rain out this weekend. She has a raincoat. We went outside. She was able to do her business. So sometimes the clothes come in handy. And it's her birthday. She's wearing a tutu. It's appropriate. She looks able to do her business. So sometimes the clothes come in handy. And it's her birthday.
Starting point is 01:59:25 She's wearing a tutu. It's appropriate. She looks crazy. I only have to listen to this stuff from my girl. Your girl got a dog? Yeah. My girl got two. I'm just saying, what you doing with your girl just talking about some shit?
Starting point is 01:59:40 Give a fuck. Just act like you listening? No. Nah, because my girl, she know now. She know when I ain't listening. She's going to ask you trigger questions. Just act like you're listening? No. Nah, because my girl, she know now. She know when I ain't listening. She's going to ask you trigger questions.
Starting point is 01:59:48 She know when I ain't listening now. That's what gets bad. That's what gets bad. That's the details. It's scary. Yeah. My girl know because I start trailing off.
Starting point is 01:59:54 I'm like, word. Yeah. What did I just say? The short answer, the faces. Did not do a face. Stupid ass FaceTime.
Starting point is 02:00:03 It'll catch you when you're looking at some other shit. She be going. She be going, yeah, I ain't this girl at work. Leave it down. Scrolling. Because your eyes do it.
Starting point is 02:00:11 Yeah, my eyes is looking at something else. That's funny. That's how you're looking at women. That's funny. While your partner is looking. That's foul. Y'all need to stop. Y'all need to stop that.
Starting point is 02:00:20 So you. What? Could they come out with a new girl every day on the algorithm? Oh, shit. Where you the algorithm? Oh, shit. Where you come from? Oh, shit. Newark? You was alive all the time?
Starting point is 02:00:30 Thanks, boy. You'd be like, what? I got a chick. Tyrese and his wife. Because we love talking about things off mic and then never bringing them up on the mic. No, Mel had it. She had a bit. I know.
Starting point is 02:00:41 You always have it off the mic. But here we go. Tyrese and his wife. Well, no. Tyrese was here talking, but here we go. Tyrese and his wife. Well, no, Tyrese was here talking about, well, everything. Shout out to Tyrese. Yeah, shout out to Tyrese. That was a great episode.
Starting point is 02:00:53 That's not out yet. That's not out yet. So we got to preface this. Okay. So he is in the blogs right now because him and DJ Envy are going back and forth on the fact he was counseling. Did he say that on the couch? He was counseling DJ Envy and his wife the fact he was counseled. Did he say that on the couch? He was counseling DJ and his wife. Yes, ma'am.
Starting point is 02:01:06 Okay. Well, um, they are basically saying that they stopped the counseling sessions because he started to shoot at DJ and his wife. Oh, shoot. Flirt. Shoot.
Starting point is 02:01:16 You heard me there. That was my newscaster voice. Get at her. Flirt. Yes. There we go. Okay. Get at her. Flirt. Got it. There we go. Okay.
Starting point is 02:01:27 She's talking. I didn't know what his expectations were of me. You're a body model. You know, at that time, I don't, I didn't feel as though he was going through any mental issues. I didn't feel as though he was facing any mental challenges at that time. I know that he does go through things and I know that he has been on medication, but at that time I felt as though he was very clear-minded and everything seemed cool. But when I started to feel uncomfortable and you started to feel uncomfortable, we took a step back. Well, what lines were crossed? People would be like, well, what lines did he cross?
Starting point is 02:02:06 You know, I don't really feel comfortable being specific because at the same time, I still do have a respect for him. I know that you still do have a respect for him. I would feel more comfortable just being general and saying that, you know, there was flirting and inappropriate and let me know what his expectations are. And I know that he has been on medication. I think we get the gist of that. Now what?
Starting point is 02:02:43 We can't understand these faces you're making. Mel, you have to say something. He was just here. Your homie was here. He, I mean, well, we didn't. He invited you to be, play Selma. Would Ty do that, though?
Starting point is 02:02:55 He's such a fucking asshole. He actually played Selma. It wasn't Selma. Selma is the fucking city. It's Corona. I can't wait for that episode. I need that to drop. She said, you remember by the bathroom when you asked me to play the opposite of you?
Starting point is 02:03:10 That nigga said, huh? That nigga told me, he said, huh? I said, what? He said, I'm a real nigga. Yeah, you are, you stupid nigga. You got it. I'm going to use him. Yes, Coretta.
Starting point is 02:03:23 Yeah, anyways. You look nothing like Coretta. Who cares? Okay,ta. Who cares? Okay, sorry. Who cares? Did you recognize that to be what it was? What, that he was shooting at me? Yes. I'm asking you.
Starting point is 02:03:32 I don't know. You were there. I wasn't. He so wasn't. You know how long we've known each other for? Hey, yo, man. Out the bathroom. Look at the optics.
Starting point is 02:03:42 Look at the optics. Out the bathroom. Real quick, real quick, real quick. One, two, three. Don't put me in it. I'm not dog-bowling up there. No, it optics. Look at the optics. Real quick, real quick. One, two, three. Don't put me in it. I'm not dog-bowling up there. No, it's not dog-bowling. But you got four men who have shot.
Starting point is 02:03:52 You got to look at the scene. You wasn't at the table. The nigga came and sat down. You was coming out the bathroom. And you wasn't fucking Coretta. Let me Google Coretta real quick. If I told you who came through for the auditions for Coretta, you would all be like, y'all mute the fuck up. That's what would happen.
Starting point is 02:04:10 Yo, you know what's funny about Mel, though? Not too much on Mel. Yeah, because we're not dog power. I sat here for a month and listened to you kick a nigga back in for buying a drink for you and your friends. You kick the niggas back in for like complimenting y'all. Well, hold up. Or shit like that. Hold up.
Starting point is 02:04:33 So now you mean to tell me if anybody else is following you to the bathroom or talking to you as soon as you come out the bathroom and offering you a role to come read lines. Okay, see, now that's not what happened. That is not what happened. And we can wait till the episode comes out. No, no, no. I hate when you do that.
Starting point is 02:04:50 Shut up. I hate when you do that, nigga. But they didn't see it. And so we had to connect. It's going to make them go see it. Listen, all we know is that Mel decided to remind Tyrese, remember when you came out the bathroom? When I came out the bathroom, you stopped me.
Starting point is 02:05:04 At the end of our interview? When the interview was over? When the interview was over you stopped me I mean he was sitting here he was dialing he was talking a lot so I didn't feel that that was the time to you know interject the funny story
Starting point is 02:05:18 I've known him for fucking 23 years sometimes when you know somebody for a long time it be one of the nights you want some pussy. Let's talk about it. It be sometimes you want some pussy. I said, man, you fire you, Melissa Ford, coming out the bathroom? Yo, man.
Starting point is 02:05:34 That's a good point. Why do you think that niggas, because they know you a while, they wouldn't want some pussy? Yeah, you fire them. I'm just asking. OK, that's fair. That's fair. That's fair.
Starting point is 02:05:41 I think you would have smoked your boots that night. Shit would have been in the city. The city of Compton. You know what? How about this? The narrative that we're constructing right now
Starting point is 02:05:53 is way funnier than the truth so let's stay here. Let's keep it here. Oh. That was fire. You know there's some new tricks. That was fire. We're going to do that.
Starting point is 02:06:01 We're going to keep it here. The narrative is so much funnier than the truth so yes, absolutely. I was coming out of the bathroom. He was like, yo. I got a friend of mine who wrote a little something that they need somebody to practice some lines with.
Starting point is 02:06:12 OK. You think you'd be available for that? Is he paying me? Of course. OK. Of course. Are you shitting me? It's called Pulp Fiction.
Starting point is 02:06:21 It's called Pulp Truth. Ish, go ahead. You had yourp Truth. Ish, go ahead. You had your hand up. Ish, get up. The fuck? You just had your hand up two seconds ago, and you rethought it there? Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm just asking.
Starting point is 02:06:35 Hey, he's not the acting coach. Slow down, Miss Honey. My arm was hurting. I'm sorry. I apologize. It's cool, because our guest is here anyway. It's fine. It's fine.
Starting point is 02:06:44 Ladies and gentlemen, we have a very, very, very special guest here. We have one of my inspirations is up here. Somebody that I look up to in the business world. Somebody I pocket watch, see how they got shit going. We have the legendary Stephen A. Smith came to fuck with us in the building. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I thought he was going to run.
Starting point is 02:07:12 Oh, my God. I thought he would run. You know better. But he didn't run. See you, baby. Stephen A., thank you for joining us. Man, please. My pleasure, man.
Starting point is 02:07:20 Anytime I've called you, you've always been there for me. It's the least I could do. It's true. Double bed in Bristol. I hit the road. That's right least I could do. It's true. Double bed in Bristol. I hit the road. That's right. Early morning meetings. You absolutely did.
Starting point is 02:07:28 I came. I did. You absolutely did. You came to Seaport, too, in New York City. You've always been there. So I'm here. Steve, why are you posting your first take stats with Skip's stats? Well, you know what?
Starting point is 02:07:41 It's not so much that, man. It's like you don't want to like rub it in or whatever. I got so much respect for him because obviously my career first day started because, you know, he brought me on. But, you know, facts are facts. And when you have not necessarily him, but so many people talking shit and misrepresenting what's going on it's like wait a minute i thought we were about facts and so it's like this is what we're doing this is what it is and and you know when i sit up there and and i'm not going to lie to you it's you know sometimes it is a black thing i've been first take you know they were doing fine they were doing all right when when skip had a potpourri of people coming on the show with him but espn was defined by sports center and sports center was the flagship
Starting point is 02:08:35 skip asked me to come on board i come on board in april of 2012 by may we were number one in April of 2012, by May, we were number one. And we've been number one since May of 2012. And so just think about it. And I think that, you know, to answer the question, just straight up and down, you got to remember, I started off in newspapers and I'm a columnist. And the reason why that was such a big deal to me is that when you're doing a column, that means you have a license to editorialize and give your opinion.
Starting point is 02:09:19 If you're younger, you don't know the history of the newspaper industry before podcasts, before dot com. It was radio, television, newspaper, magazines. And most black folks didn't have a license to give their opinions. You had to work your way up in order to do that. And so when I was named a sports columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer in October, I'm sorry, in March of 2003, I was the 21st black in American history to be named a general sports columnist, which means only 20 people came before me that had a license to give their opinions. And so when I'm saying we understand as black people how difficult it is to get into that position. Well, I did it. And then not only did I did it, we transitioned to television and then I'm number one there. And not only was I number one, I transitioned to television, and then I'm number one there, and not only was I number one, I've been number one for damn near 12 years,
Starting point is 02:10:08 and y'all acting like I'm just running my mouth, and I'm not talking about y'all. I'm just talking about people in the industry, trolls, whatever, whatever, and I'm like, nah, it ain't going down like that. That's not what happened. If you remember, I made news about a year, year and a half ago.
Starting point is 02:10:24 ESPN made these layoffs. And it was this white dude from Sports Illustrated that was like, they fired all of these people, but they kept Stephen A. And I was like, yo, I make money for the company. But I'm saying I make money. They're not paying me because, oh, you got numbers. Well, my numbers generate revenue. Re revenue is what pay for other people and so I'm bringing in over 200 150 to 200 million dollars to the company and you talking about I should lose my job I literally everything in my power stop I mean I remember I was on first take one day and I
Starting point is 02:11:02 almost said the word motherfucker and I and and my words are going to be motherfucker. Pay attention. You in this business to see what pisses me off is that that man had access to this business. He's in the business. He knew the numbers. He knew the facts, but he wouldn't tell. And so my point is, when I see folks doing podcasts and stuff like that, I get where cats are coming from. If you don't know, you don, say if you're doing music, if you're acting, you're an actor, whatever the case may be,
Starting point is 02:11:29 but you're not in that business, I'm good with you. You don't know what you don't know. There's a lot of stuff about y'all business I don't know. But in this business, I do know. And I knew that that writer knew that.
Starting point is 02:11:39 And I knew that some of the critics knew that. So I'm like, why the hell ain't y'all saying so? So guess what? I'm going to be that dude that tells the world. Because at some point, somebody going to get wise and tipped off to the fact that you do have that information. And you're keeping it from the public. Why?
Starting point is 02:11:58 And that's why you hear me and you see me posting the stats or whatever. I've been number one. You're not. By a landslide. You're not playing. For 12 years and counting. This is what we've done. Now, I could fall off the cliff tomorrow,
Starting point is 02:12:11 but you can't take away what I did for the last 12 years. That's a fact. Indeed. That's a fact. I agree. Now, when relationships break up, romantic relationships,
Starting point is 02:12:24 I believe there to be like breakup etiquette, right? Like, okay, romantic relationships. I believe there to be like breakup etiquette, right? Like, okay, certain places that I know you'd like to go, maybe I won't go over there. Certain people you know that we was mutual friends,
Starting point is 02:12:33 hey, maybe I won't be so, maybe I won't speak to them as frequently as I used to, right? So the stat thing, I can understand. Got it. But the second that Shannon became available, and I like that you did this, But the second that Shannon became available,
Starting point is 02:12:46 and I like that you did this, by the way. I like that you, hey, make no quorum, I would like him over here. I like that for the business. But for the skip stuff, I was like, oh, no, that's a jab. That hurts. You're going to go after the co-host so soon.
Starting point is 02:13:03 You didn't care. I didn't look at it that way got it i would have looked at it that way if shannon left of his own volition i'm telling you he did it i'm telling you he was pushed out that's the fact that's the first time i've ever heard that well i'm telling you and it's fact now they could deny it he wouldn't i can promise you that he was pushed out he didn't want to leave He was notified that your services would no longer be needed. But again, that's his story to tell. But I'm telling you what I know.
Starting point is 02:13:31 I'm giving you facts. And so when I saw that, it wasn't just that I know the brother's talented. It wasn't just that I know he's a three-time Super Bowl champion and an NFL Hall of Famer. It wasn't just that I knew that he had been doing television the last six years. I saw me from the standpoint of I was let go in 2009 and left for dead. And they were writing my epitaph and they were like, Stephen A's career is over. He blew it. He had the opportunity of a lifetime.
Starting point is 02:13:58 He effed it up and blah, blah, blah. blah, blah, blah. And I was like, there was nobody in the present day Stephen A. Smith's position as the guy in sports media, as the executive producer for the number one sports morning show that could speak up for me at that time. And I said, this is why I'm here. It's my responsibility. So, you know, it's nothing new when you look at Swagoo, Marcus Spears, and you see his new contract, when you see Ryan Clark and all the things that he's doing, when you see a Kimberly Martin that was an NFL reporter and now she's on television, when you see a Monica McNutt and all this stuff, you know what? I'm at a point in time where if I don't want you on first take, you ain't coming on first take. That's it. And if I don't want you on first take, you ain't coming on first take. And if I don't want you on first take
Starting point is 02:14:46 and you ain't coming on first take, the likelihood is that you gonna have a problem getting on television because that's the number one morning show. And if Stephen A ain't feeling you for that show, why should we feel you for X, Y, and Z show? It's just a chain reaction. It's not that I have any sway over those other shows,
Starting point is 02:15:00 but it's just a natural chain reaction. And so I knew the position that I was in whether he came to first take or not it was important that I let the world know he still wanted because when they let me go I was on the verge of being blackballed yo I couldn't even get a job at BET or TV1 me it went from me making 1.3 million, having quite frankly from 2005 to 2007, to being on NBA countdown during that same period and doing ESPN radio, to waking up one day and from four jobs to zero. I was unemployed for damn near 10 months. In 2010, nobody would hire me. 10 months in 2010, nobody would hire me.
Starting point is 02:15:44 I could barely get an interview. And when something like that happens, obviously the belief is you're being blackballed. Okay, do I have proof of that? No, my proof was the fact that I'm Stephen A and nobody's touching me. Nobody's touching me. And so, you know, when that happened, I remembered that feeling.
Starting point is 02:16:02 And I remembered how people might have spoken up and say, we love Stephen A., blah, blah. But when I was unemployed, I didn't hear a positive word about me. I didn't hear anybody going front and center and saying, we want Stephen A. I saw none of that. It was quiet. And so what I wanted to do was, it's a different day. And I'm not going to leave his brother out there hanging. different day and I'm not going to leave his brother out there hanging now I'm not now I'm not willing to bring him on the show and sacrifice Ryan Clark sacrifice Swagoo Marcus Spears even
Starting point is 02:16:31 Mad Dog Russo to Dan Orlovsky's Demina Combs or Kimberly Martins or anybody else Kendrick Perkins or anybody I'm not willing to sacrifice that but if this brother is willing to come on board and be a part of that mix and a part of that family, welcome to the family. I went to the honchos. I said, I want them. They said, Stephen, you know, we saw X, Y, and Z got into an argument on the air. I said, don't worry about that. I said, he dealing with folks over there.
Starting point is 02:16:57 Here he would be dealing with me. I'm telling you, I got him. Let him come. And they were like, all right. That co-sign is very important. And that's what happened. And even if he didn't come on your team, fact that you gave him a welcome exactly he would have got picked up somewhere exactly and that's exactly what my intent was that's my responsibility and
Starting point is 02:17:14 that's why you'll see me you know you see you know listen y'all got a podcast you see uh you know other cats in the industry club club shea shea that's shannon's chops podcast you see uh ryan clark in the piffy You see a whole bunch of stuff What do you see me doing On the show Promoting it Now why would I do that I got my own podcast
Starting point is 02:17:30 I'm doing my own thing Because I don't want Anybody to fail I want us all to win And I'm going to make sure That when people look at me They know
Starting point is 02:17:40 That I ain't just some black man I'm a brother And I'm going to look out As best as I possibly can That's how I roll It's not going to always Be the a brother, and I'm going to look out as best as I possibly can. That's how I roll. It's not going to always be the most popular thing. I'm not going to always make friends that I'm doing this. It's not to say I'm not going to piss people off
Starting point is 02:17:51 because they might disagree or whatever the case may be, but when you look at me and you look at my soul at the end of the day, I'll put myself up next to anybody because I know where my heart lies. Talk. What do you say to the people? What do you say to the people that say they saw the tension between you and Max developing on air before his departure from the show? Did you hear any of that? Did you hear any of that? I heard some of it.
Starting point is 02:18:25 I would take full responsibility for that. That's totally my fault. Okay. And the reason why it was my fault, because I didn't like working with him, man. It's just that damn simple. I didn't like it. I thought the show was stale. I thought that we had flatlined when it came to the public at large.
Starting point is 02:18:42 And I'm trying to win. I mean, I didn't want to go from number one to number two when Skip left that's not what I wasn't having that that shit was not going to happen did anything in the numbers say that that you might have been headed that way no but to me it did creatively to me it did not just creatively but the consistency of the number got in other words it wasn't going this way yeah it was just there and and not only that it's like it's like us being in this room right now come on y'all y'all know the difference between something that's stale and something you pumped up for you just know absolutely and so and so that's what I was feeling and it was like you know listen I had mad respect from him from the standpoint that white dude, highly intelligent, Ivy League educated from Columbia, smart as a whip, can talk his ass off, can talk about anything.
Starting point is 02:19:32 And I get all of that. But you weren't an athlete. And you weren't a journalist. And the absence of the two components left people wondering why should we listen to you okay well you might have had that figured out on sports nation or you might have had that figured out on another show but on this show if you looked at the content emanating in the social stratosphere meaning youtube and other components that you use to measure one's cachet, cue ratings, focus groups, all of these different things. It was like I was damn near doing the show by myself because we were oceans apart in terms of cachet. Well, how are you oceans apart from me
Starting point is 02:20:16 if you sit right across from me five days a week for the whole two hours? Because one of us is resonating and one of us is not in that platform. And so for me, I was like, look, this is what it is. And we had a number of conversations, one on one, many, many times. I know this audience. I know what they're looking for. I know what they need, et cetera, et cetera. At some point, you're going to do what you need to do or you don't.
Starting point is 02:20:44 And if you don't do what you need to do, I'm going to get somebody who will. That's me. And I made no qualms about it. Now, I didn't have the authority to let him go. But you have coffee with the person then. How about that? How about that?
Starting point is 02:21:00 And so what I did was I've been very honest and very consistent about it. There's nothing personal. We didn't have, we weren't enemies or anything. To be real, we ain't spoke sense other than hi and bye. Or if I had to go on the show when they were doing the morning show, I would get interviewed. But there's been no conversation since, and that's fine with me.
Starting point is 02:21:22 That's no problem because it wasn't like we were boys or anything like that. But at the end of the day, it was all business to me. And it was about, look, man, I'm trying to win. And I don't believe I can win with you. That doesn't mean it's your fault. It means we don't work. So when I went upstairs to management, my exact words were,
Starting point is 02:21:47 look, if he's that important to you, give him first take. I'll leave. Stephen A. Stephen A. I'm telling you what I said. I'm only giving you what I said.
Starting point is 02:21:59 I'm only giving you what I said. Two hours later, I got the call. We're making a change. Yeah, you what I said. He went in that office. Two hours later, I got the call. We making a change. Yeah, you just said fire him. Huh? He didn't say fire him. He said redistribute.
Starting point is 02:22:13 See, we got to learn the corporate way to say some of that shit. No, no, no. But it wasn't a firing because remember, well, what happened was that ultimately you had the radio show and you had your own afternoon show. He got his own show. Ultimately, you had the radio show and you had your own afternoon show. See, where I'll push back on anybody who talked about the career or the firing,
Starting point is 02:22:30 I'll go back to me in 2009. Stephen A., your services were no longer, we're not renewing your deal. You're not renewing your deal. It is not a unilateral decision. And just like that, the next month when my contract expired, first of all, they let me know in April.
Starting point is 02:22:46 My last day was May 9th of 2009. My contract was up June 30th. They didn't even let me work through the finals. We will not be needing your services any longer. And I was unemployed. So you got to understand that I'm not going to embrace it the way y'all might or other people might from the standpoint of losing your job. Oh, I'm getting reassigned. And I got not only I'm going from first take to getting my own show in the afternoon and a morning show.
Starting point is 02:23:17 And my money's not compromised. I lost my job. He didn't get fired. He didn't get fired. I could have easily been. I lost my job. He didn't get fired. Yeah, he didn't get fired.
Starting point is 02:23:24 I could have easily been. Listen. Totally different. If I didn't have any money saved, I would have literally been on the unemployment line. Do you understand that? I would have been on the unemployment line. And that was before this era of podcasts and independent journalism where you can kind of flip shit. There you go. So that's what
Starting point is 02:23:45 happened and so when people talk about well damn this is what happened i'm like y'all don't know shit let me show you what fire it is let me show you what that's like that's true you understand you ain't put me in another position where i didn't lose and by the way i knew and i was assured that exactly what happened for him was going to happen when the move was made. Because I'm here to tell you, despite the way I felt we were struggling in terms of sizzle, pizzazz, et cetera, I would not have insisted on that if I knew it would have left him unemployed. I would not have done that. Because you've been there before.
Starting point is 02:24:21 That's right. Were there any rumblings before all of the all of the layoffs were reported were there you're talking about recently recent the recent ones were were there any rumblings uh in the company that that was to come or was just just a shock to the people it was it was it was to come which is why it pissed me off about with my colleagues first of all we knew it was coming the moment that Bob Iger returned as the head and CEO of Walt Disney.
Starting point is 02:24:49 And a few weeks later, it was announced that 7,000 layoffs was coming. Yes. You can't work. You got to be a new fool, a new kind of fool
Starting point is 02:25:01 to not know that ESPN is going to suffer some cuts when its parent company announces that 7,000 cuts are coming to make up for $5.5 billion. COVID hits, parks close, movie theaters close, ESPN, no live sporting events. We took a tremendous loss. I gave back 15% of my salary. 15% of my salary. Okay?
Starting point is 02:25:30 Because they come to you asking you, is that something you can do? You're not forced. It's voluntary. What? That's right. It's not forced. It's voluntarily.
Starting point is 02:25:41 They came to me. I was the first one to say, yeah, here you go. Well, what's the alternative? Wait, who's coming to me to me I was the first one To say yeah here you go Well what would we What's the alternative Wait who's coming to me To say that Right now The boss
Starting point is 02:25:49 If you lost One of the bosses You lost a Patreon deal And you came to us And said yo Shit is tight right now Would y'all take Or consider a pay cut
Starting point is 02:25:57 Got it And I do it again And I do it again Because here's the reason why I got it Here's the reason why If you don't do it, then those cats, you're making millions, but those cats that's making $150,000, $200,000,
Starting point is 02:26:12 a whole bunch of them are going to lose their jobs. Now, some of them are going to lose their jobs anyway, but even more of them are going to lose their jobs. You can't be somebody that's not just a talent, but they've asked you to lead or you volunteered to lead. You are just a talent, but they've asked you to lead. You've or you volunteer to lead. You are considered a leader. But then all of a sudden it's just about you. Sure. I want my money. I earned it. I didn't want to give back a damn thing. But looking at the landscape, I knew inevitably what they were going to ask me to do.
Starting point is 02:26:40 And I didn't hesitate. There was no I think about it. I get back to you. Whatever they said, Stephen, they you know, whatever. They said, Stephen A, you know, this is something that, you know, we're going to have to ask of our employees at some point. I said,
Starting point is 02:26:49 take mine now. Here you go. It's all right. I'll be okay. And I did it. I'll be okay. I did. No,
Starting point is 02:26:56 you knew we had a big payday coming. I did have a big payday. I did have a big payday coming. And also, you hope that this is going to be remembered once we steady the ship. Well,
Starting point is 02:27:04 and if you don't do it, let me tell you, my petty brain, if you don't do it, the bosses will remember. They're going to remember. Hey, you ain't doing nothing wrong. They're going to remember. But we're going to remember that you didn't do this. Absolutely. But that wasn't on my mind. At that time, I had agreed to my new deal.
Starting point is 02:27:20 Even though the reports ain't right, the bottom line is I'm getting paid. Ain't no question. Steven ain't a blind man to see that you're getting paid. I'm not going to lie to you. I'm not going to lie to you. Let me tell you, you've always been a classy, well-dressed, well-put-to-like you. But when that new contract came, shit changed a little bit. A little bit.
Starting point is 02:27:40 When you start coming in in the morning, you start, this is my shit. This is my show. This is my shit. Excuse me molly pardon me let me hey producer no i'm gonna get to this next point like it look i like to see that it had to throw your fucking weight around up there god damn it it had to happen bro because we've just been too through too much i mean all of us you know i mean you know you're doing you do, y'all doing what y'all do. We doing what we know what shit we've been through. And it's not about flexing, but it is about letting somebody know, you know, this shit was earned, right? Because they ain't giving me anything. And so as a result of that, you want to make sure it's understood and you want to project to the audience out there. Don't look at anybody else.
Starting point is 02:28:28 Come right to me. It's me. It's like, I don't care who it is. It's like, this is my shit. And it's my shit until they say otherwise because it's really theirs. But they left it up to me and they've asked me to take over the platform.
Starting point is 02:28:44 And I take that very, very seriously. But with that comes responsibilities. And when they tell you that we hemorrhaging dollars and you see that the times that we live in at the time, COVID and all of that stuff. And they're like, you know, we're trying to prevent ourselves from laying off even more people. Then you got to step up when your dollars are guaranteed and you know you don't have shit to worry about
Starting point is 02:29:07 it's like okay so alright I'm not going to make you know nine ten million this year instead it's going to be eight or seven
Starting point is 02:29:16 I think I'll be alright you know I think I'll be alright and that's what I was saying it can't be Latrose that's right how about that how about that
Starting point is 02:29:24 you know when you were before this last contract of yours with you being the man up there was the was there ever really a threat of you leaving like I come in here a lot when you was going through that and try to figure out how a man in your position can't even utilize the leverage while you're there. Here's the hard part for me when it comes to that leverage that people speak to. There are a lot of conversations that your agent has, you know, and your bosses have. You don't have access to that conversation. I do. It's the executive VP, speed dial. It's the other executive VP, speed dial. The president, you go to the game and you watch the Jets and
Starting point is 02:30:16 the Bills on Monday night football. Well, I was in the suite with him. The CEO of Walt Disney, the CEO of Walt Disney, the CEO of Walt Disney. Yo, Stephen A., I'm coming to town. You free for dinner? So when you have and you've been able and fortunate enough to cultivate those conversations, sometimes that's a disadvantage for you. But it's better for the whole. Because what happens is, is that I can have a conversation with him about everybody that's under that umbrella not necessarily as individual players but looking at what's in the best interest of the corporation okay the business boom I think this will work for us this will work for us that work for these are our ideas you can't do that when everything's about you because if you're having those conversations and you're utilizing those personal moments to try to big up yourself then it becomes about you and if it becomes about you then it's not in
Starting point is 02:31:09 the best interest of the business and if it's not in the best interest of the business why would i want to talk to you you got heat for that i saw it i saw you say it was on your podcast yep you said or somebody's pocket when i go to work uh my objective is to think of how to make my uh boss money. And you got heat for saying that, and I didn't understand that. Because there's some ignorant motherfuckers out there.
Starting point is 02:31:30 They don't get it. They don't get the big picture. Here's what my complete sentence is. In my book, Straight Shooter, I've said it on the air on many occasions. I've said it in speeches in a whole bit.
Starting point is 02:31:41 The day my life changed, when my mother, God rest her soul me held me accountable for what happened when i got fired in 2009 and i had to look at myself and i had to go about the business of trying to resurrect my career oh so she held the mirror up oh yes that's what no she gave me the handheld mirror in the tray got it and i was like what is this for she's like i wonder it's there for when you're ready to look at yourself this is what you did you got to be accountable for the shit you did,
Starting point is 02:32:06 you know, and that's what she told me. She didn't curse though, but that's what she said and when I thought about everything that I had done wrong, I was egotistical. I was arrogant.
Starting point is 02:32:18 I was selfish, but the biggest crime is I was stupid. I did not master my business. I thought I was the man because people screamed my name. I thought I was the man because you saw me on TV or you saw me on the side of bus stops or you saw me in commercials. My Q scores, my focus groups were saying about me, the revenue that I was generating for the company, what that materialized into. I had no knowledge of that.
Starting point is 02:32:47 So when it came time for negotiation, they were the ones with all the leverage because they had the intel. I didn't. I had emotion. And so when I came with my emotion, when I came with my emotion and it didn't go my way and I reacted emotionally, I got burned.
Starting point is 02:33:12 And what my mother did ultimately led to me meeting with the president of ESPN and ABC at the time, George Bodenheimer, who educated me about what was being said about me specifically and how it had derailed my career. And when I received that education, I went about the business of making sure to make the necessary corrections so I could be better and so as a result when you hear me on my podcast especially the Stephen A Smith show you hear me on first take and I'm trying to break stuff down I'm not trying to even say most of the time I'm right and you're wrong what I'm saying is this is the game I'm hipping you to it because I've been in it I've been in corporate America for 30 years oh Stephen A you you know you a company guy you corporate well fucking right I am I've been in it I've been in corporate America For 30 years Oh Stephen A You know you a company guy You corporate Well fucking right I am
Starting point is 02:33:47 I've been in it for 30 years What would you be If you've been in it for 30 years This is the game I know Me stepping out And starting my own podcast And owning my own podcast My RSS feed
Starting point is 02:33:57 My masters And all of this other stuff Owning my own production company That's new That's now But that wasn't the case For the first damn near 30 years of my career. I didn't know. How were you able to do that? How are you able to do that?
Starting point is 02:34:10 There's no way that any of us watching who sees the role that you have up there would think that ESPN is letting you have your own podcast at all. We were shocked when Shannon got to leave with his. Right. Like we didn't understand that. How how how how do they let you do that well first of all relationships matter that does matter yeah they want to protect the business but at some point in time they have to ask themselves at what cost Stephen A in 2009 ain't Stephen, ain't now. And if you have to go up against me now, you're still the monolith. But some things can happen that you don't want to happen. If I go to the competition, what could that be like? What kind of detriment can that have on your bottom line?
Starting point is 02:34:59 Not to mention that I've been entrenched there since 2003. So you talk about somebody that knows where the body lies and where the skeletons are though that it would be me you know so and so when you got all of that going on not that I roll like that but the point is good joke it's a good it's it's a good joke to have so I'm just saying you got to take all of those things into consideration and then you have to take it to and i would always advise people of this pay attention to precedent precedence is important like give you a perfect example we can talk about the modern day example right now you had a bunch of people that were pissed off that when we let laid off these people at disney look at the deal that pat mcaee got. How he get all that damn money?
Starting point is 02:35:46 You ain't hear Stephen A. complaining. You know why? Because I understood what happened. You understand. I understand the game. ESPN did not hire Pat McAfee.
Starting point is 02:35:56 They acquired his business. Bought him out. He had a deal. FanDuel had paid him $120 million. He had his deal. FanDuel had paid him $120 million. He had his own YouTube channel. He had over 2 million subscribers. He was getting this paper from FanDuel.
Starting point is 02:36:15 ESPN acquired that business. And so they don't view it as an employee. You know, he has to pay to put his lights on. He has to pay for his producers. He has to pay to put his lights on he has to pay for his producers he has to pay to produce the content he has to do all of that we cutting you a check to do these kind of things Barbara Walters years ago the view very popular I'm sure Barbara Walters was a co-owner of that show oh you better believe me she co-owned it why does she co-owner of that show. Oh, you better believe me. She co-owned it. Why did she co-own it?
Starting point is 02:36:53 Because she went to the honchos at Disney and presented, created the idea and presented her creative. They liked it. They said, we're in. So they purchased. They decided to go in on it with her. I don't know whether it was 40, 60, 50, 50 50 or whatever but she was a co-owner so yeah to disney they're partners but to everybody else on that show oh you work for her because she owns the content okay so how do you get that by creating your own content and so when i saw that
Starting point is 02:37:21 oh we open for business yeah because if I could come up with something to create, who knows what the possibilities are? And if I don't come up with something to create, then I deserve employee status. What I did was go to them and said, here's what I've been doing. This is what I want to do what I'm asking of you requires not a single dime out of your pocket it's just the freedom to show you what I can create
Starting point is 02:37:52 so I can come back to you and various others and partner up and create content and they said you've earned the right for us to see what you got because all I had to do to get that deal was promise them first look.
Starting point is 02:38:11 First look, 30 days. Which I'm glad to give you. You want it or you don't. Boom. And we good. And when you spoke on precedent, Pat McAfee has already said that it works. There you go. Well, even if it doesn't, we don has already said that it works. There you go.
Starting point is 02:38:27 Well, even if it doesn't, we don't know what the work is. He just started. I'm just saying. Pat McAfee has Aaron Rodgers every Tuesday, no matter what he's doing, he could be feeding his kids. And he pop in there to talk. I've been very vocal about that being like a media cheat code. In rap, it would be like if I got access to Drake every Tuesday to do my show. He's supposed to get paid but here's what you're saying a smith and you have the ear and a relationship with damn near every pop and black athlete in the world i have the same cachet if not more well you gotta
Starting point is 02:38:55 remember something oh yeah i wasn't back no no i'm just saying so now but this is the deal aaron rogers was someone pat mcafee had before he ever got to ESPN. Oh, yeah, yeah, no. No, I'm aware. And so because of that, give him props. He did that. Because let me tell you something right now. What's our problem?
Starting point is 02:39:14 If we're going to be real about it, let's be real about it. You got a lot of cats in our community that ain't trying to do that for us. True. You see, we talk a lot. And this is what, and this is when we, if we gonna have a real conversation, let's have a real conversation.
Starting point is 02:39:28 That's what I tell them all the time. Because let me tell you something right now. You got a lot of cats, a lot of brothers. They ain't trying to look out. They ain't trying to look out. Not even a little bit. That's why I don't even want to hear shit from them
Starting point is 02:39:40 about what the fuck I'm supposed to do. You ain't help me. I'm doing this on my own where you at right because for me there is not an athlete like you saw me on Paul George you don't see me on Pat Bev and you saw me on Draymond it's whatever listen I cover the sport you call me the least I could do is be there and you know me well enough to know if if you look out for me you know me for years you know I'm you look out for me you know me for years you know I'm a lookout that's how I roll but you got some of these cats they don't give a shit
Starting point is 02:40:10 they making their money they got this social media platform and their attitude is fuck you we ain't gotta do nothing for you or whatever well damn it I didn't say you needed me what I said is you can't look out I said is, you can't look out. And so we know you can't, or we know you don't want to. Cool. Then don't bitch when I do my own thing. And I'm making it happen. Because you didn't help me.
Starting point is 02:40:36 And again, if we're talking sports and all that stuff, personally, ain't nobody getting into no personal stuff, you don't end up in police blotters. Okay? If you ain't in the police blotters And you don't tell me your story One of those two things Or both of those things Is none of my business
Starting point is 02:40:51 Look at my history I got nothing to say Your business is your business I'm talking about the sport But you can't Don't look for my help When you shoot two for twenty Don't look for my help
Starting point is 02:41:02 When you drop three passes Don't look for my help When you drop the touchdown passes Or you striking out four times at five at bats. And I can't help you. I cannot do that. But when it comes to what you bring to the table, I'm going to always be fair. I'm going to always be fair. But that's all I owe you. I owe you fairness. I owe you fairness, not a damn thing else. All right. We have sports fights to have. Sure. I'm sure you fin. I owe you fin. It's not that damn thing else. All right, we have sports fights to have with you. Sure. I'm sure you do.
Starting point is 02:41:28 I had a rough morning because I'm surrounded by Cowboys fans. This is my good friend of 20 years who's a Cowboy fan. Right. My condolences. My good friend. Somewhere over here, another Cowboy fan. We're really excited about this 40 to nothing ass whipping that the Giants got. Okay.
Starting point is 02:41:47 Do you want to speak to that the way you were speaking to me earlier? I want to just talk about, I know you the anti, you fuck the Alamo in your opinion. What I'm asking you is. Fans, Cowboy fans, yes. Yeah, that's what it is. I can't stand y'all asses, but I mean it affectionately. We know. Great.
Starting point is 02:42:05 Objectively. Yeah. If you can do so. Yes, I can't stand y'all asses, but I mean it affectionately. We know. Great. Objectively, if you can do so. Yes, I can. Where do you feel we stand this year? I think y'all can win it all. I'm not going to say you will. There's a black cat running around somewhere, somehow, someway. Y'all will mess it up, and y'all just ain't going to win. But it's hard for me because I like, I know Micah Parsons.
Starting point is 02:42:26 I know Trayvon Diggs and those guys. I got a lot of love for those brothers, man, and they are elite. And I think that a legitimate argument could be made that Dallas Cowboys got the best defense in the NFL. It's the athletes, the speed. And the fantasy. And here's the deal. Speed. And his fantasy.
Starting point is 02:42:44 And here's the deal. The secondary with Diggs and Gilmore combined with Lawrence. Micah. And then you got Micah now as your edge rusher. They ain't going to have him dropping back in coverage. At least that's what they say the way that they have in the past. Dallas's defense is a monster. But it makes me laugh because all that means is that there's more pressure on Dak and Dak can't handle it and that offense looked like shit well listen
Starting point is 02:43:14 they did but but but they were blowing them out they were blowing them out all I'm saying to you is that Dallas in the world of trouble and and because of Dak he's got a lot to prove now let me say this y'all can beat anybody okay you can beat anybody but that's when y'all usually mess up it's not when I'm not it's not when the expectations are low it's when expectations are high that's when the Dallas Cowboys fold I say that every week I get murdered when I say it yeah and I'm and I'm a cowboy fan to the day I it's just the truth I say the same exact thing and I get murdered when I say it. And I'm a Cowboy fan to the day I leave the earth. I say the same exact thing, and I get murdered for saying it. I just wanted to see, because you've been one of our biggest, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:43:52 Critics, yeah. Can't stand Cowboys. Fuck y'all. I ain't even going to call it a critic. Get the fuck out of here. We got to speak nice about y'all, because you sitting here. No, dog. We could be 11 and 3, and he'd be like, yo, but that ain't shit.
Starting point is 02:44:03 Yo, fam, what more we got to do, dog? You got to win this decade. That's not what I do. This is the thing. Or this century. 11 and 3 and he be like yo but they ain't shit but I don't but see you gotta win this decade that's not what I do this is or this century how about win this century right but here's what y'all miss
Starting point is 02:44:13 y'all miss that it ain't Stephen A it's y'all I disagree let me explain I disagree I know what you're about to say same thing anybody says
Starting point is 02:44:20 if it's a 1 in 15 season we ain't shit no you don't come and say we gonna're going to make the playoffs next season. You know we're going to win the Super Bowl next year, right? I don't do that. That's what y'all do. Next year is our year.
Starting point is 02:44:31 That's what y'all do. So what I'm saying is, y'all have established a measuring stick, not me. So I just laugh about it because I'm going like this. All I got to do is keep reminding them, when the season is over, you will not be champions. That's all I have to do. In May, motherfuckers be sending out cowboy memes. I'm like, dog, it ain't even a season. Pittsburgh fans, cowboy fans, I mean, Giants fans, Redskins fans.
Starting point is 02:44:54 I'm like, yo, dog. Commanders. Yeah. Oh, pardon me. Not the Redskins. Pardon me. I'm like, yo, dog, y'all on Dallas Dixon. Wait, but they're trying to change it back now.
Starting point is 02:45:03 They need to. People were petitioning for them to change it back. Magic talked to me about that. Magic was talking about, yeah, we're going to have to do something about that at some point. He's right, because I told him, name is whack as hell. Terrible. The Commanders. I mean, go back to the Washington Generals.
Starting point is 02:45:15 I like the football team. Go back to the Generals if you got to do it. The football team. I like Washington football team, too. I did. I called them the Commodores at least three times. The Commodores. I called the Commodores at least three times. The Commodores. I called them the Commodores at least three times, man.
Starting point is 02:45:27 Seriously. You are documented saying that the gentleman Noah, with his remarks about Team USA, that he's right. Well, I thought he was wrong initially. And then Boris Kojo, the actor, is a friend of mine, and he rolled up on me. He was like, yo. He said he got a point steven that year
Starting point is 02:45:46 a third of the nba is from 40 countries and six different continents you talk about about 120 to 135 nba players are from these places other than the united states of america we get that but international competition is when your country competes against another country and if that's not that is the definition of it and he said you don't call the Lakers world champions you don't call the Yankees world champions you call them you're supposed to be calling them major league baseball champions that's what you're supposed to be calling them and I said I get your point I still don't feel that I'm wrong, but I really do understand. Because originally I thought the position was ignorant
Starting point is 02:46:27 considering the multitude of international players that are in the league. But then when they were playing it, when they were making it that way, yo, it matters because it matters to those other countries. So they'll send their best. We don't. We don't. And if we did, what's the result? We would. We did.. We don't. And if we did But if we did
Starting point is 02:46:46 what's the result? If we did I think we would. I think we would. But the flip side is what does it say about us that we don't? It says that we
Starting point is 02:46:54 It says that our players It says that we make too much money. We're over here building brands. We saw Paul George break his fucking leg in half like a Twix
Starting point is 02:47:02 and we don't want to risk that to go prove that we better than y'all. And when are these players supposed to have downtime and be with their kids or their families? Well, first of all, don't use that shit. Floyd's not going to fight tomorrow.
Starting point is 02:47:14 You're off six months out of the year. Stop that shit, Joe. Stop it. You're off six months out of the year. Most of the league is off six months out of the year. That's a fact. That's true. That's a fact.
Starting point is 02:47:22 That's number one. I don't think that's enough time for downtime but it ain't really six months when you start taking it it's not really six months I said most most of them ain't winning no I'm just saying
Starting point is 02:47:29 but getting in shape shit like that they do charity shit throughout the season I'm talking about the actual competition the real action you know you can pace yourself you know in terms of
Starting point is 02:47:36 getting yourself prepared that's true but more importantly when other countries send their best and the level of patriotism that they have seems to be different than ours.
Starting point is 02:47:47 Now, we can sit up there and say, okay, that shouldn't matter to us and that's fine. But we got to admit that it don't matter to us. We can't act like it does. You see what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:47:54 Like, it matters to them. It matters to them. You know why they send their best? Because they want to beat us. Well, wait a minute. Not just that, they want to go back home and beat the man.
Starting point is 02:48:04 Okay, let me ask you a question. Did you see the footage of Jokic when he won the championship? Yes. The NBA title? Yeah. Did you see him when he did some shit in Europe, wherever he was? Initially, he didn't care. And how he was partying when he won some horse races.
Starting point is 02:48:19 You would have thought that he won the championship there. That's true. It's like, that matters. Like, he was completely blase about the nba championship but over there whatever it was that they were doing i don't know what the hell it was it wasn't crickets i can tell you that but i don't know what the hell it was but he was ecstatic because it matters to them and so what i'm saying is if it matters to them but it doesn't matter to us why should we be recognized when somebody
Starting point is 02:48:46 makes the argument because i i agree with y'all for the most part but when somebody makes the argument that it's just not that important to us then why we should be considered world champions if it doesn't matter to us that's what they were saying it's semantical. To us though. Not to them. And then we had an American calling us out for our lack of interest compared to, as it pertains to international competition, compared to
Starting point is 02:49:16 other nations. We can't ignore that. He was right in his verbiage. He was right in his verbiage. I don't care how many gays Rudy Fernandez kicked up out there, Evan Fernier. Listen, I feel you. But now LeBron is coming. Y'all done made him mad.
Starting point is 02:49:32 Now what? He done called his friends. Now they're coming out there. Hey, we'll check back. That's right. We'll check back with y'all shortly. And the NBA couldn't be happier. I think Kyrie signed up.
Starting point is 02:49:40 Are they happy about that? Ecstatic. Of course. Ecstatic. Ecstatic. When you want to use the international stage to remind everybody who the hell you are.
Starting point is 02:49:49 It's an advertisement. That is a walking advertisement. It's free advertising. Because it's not good when Jaron Jackson and Jalen Brunson and all these brothers go over there
Starting point is 02:49:58 and they lose. You don't even come home with a bronze in the FIBA World Cup. That's not good when we're supposed to be the ones that are the originators
Starting point is 02:50:08 and the protectors of the game of basketball. We ain't supposed to relent and give that shit to somebody else. It's like if the United States won the World Cup, people would start
Starting point is 02:50:17 getting murdered in Europe. Yeah. I don't know, they would let us. You get what I'm saying, though? Like, it just... Y'all see some wild stuff overseas. You see how wild they get. They do. They don't play. They don't know. They will let us. You get what I'm saying, though? Y'all see some wild stuff overseas. You see how wild they get. They don't play.
Starting point is 02:50:29 They don't play. And here's the beauty of it. And I ask y'all a somewhat rhetorical question. It doesn't have to be about the basketball. Seeing these other countries and how they act, you think they could get away with load management over there? Never. No.
Starting point is 02:50:43 Not at all. Thank you. What is this rule that I read that the NBA is trying to pass that you can't sit two stars in the same game? Well, what it is is that I don't know the specificity of it because I'm supposed to be talking about it because they haven't really finalized it. But what happens is that you got cats. And let's be honest about this, too. The person to blame for all of this ain't a brother. The person to blame is Greg Popovich.
Starting point is 02:51:10 Greg Popovich is the one at fault. And I got mad respect for this man, five-time Chief. We know how great of a coach he is. But it started with him. I'm going to tell you a story. So the San Antonio Spurs have a game the night before in Orlando it's a few years ago I forgot which year it was they finished the game in Orlando the next night they had a game in Miami LeBron D Wade all of them. This is when he was there.
Starting point is 02:51:47 Nationally televised, TNT. Greg Popovich showed up with the Spurs without Tim Duncan, without Tony Parker, and without Manu Ginobili. We all found out literally in real time while we were on the air because they were spotted standing in a line for chick-fil-a inside the orlando airport okay all right and waiting for a flight on southwest
Starting point is 02:52:17 airlines i never get as long as i live that's crazy and it was like commissioner stern at the time david stern went ballistic rest in time, David Stern, went ballistic. Rest in peace. Right. Rest in peace. Went ballistic. He was right. He's right.
Starting point is 02:52:30 How you doing that? Because you're selling the product. How you doing that? Selling the product. So not only did they. You're selling the product. Both of them are. Listen, it just depends on the perspective. See, listen, I hate when geniuses have to be ridiculed, but we're going to talk about it.
Starting point is 02:52:42 hey, when geniuses have to be ridiculed, but we're going to talk about it. David Stern, I'm sure at the time, is not used to talking to no coach about what my business bottom line is. Sure. Right? So I thought that was pretty genius as a coach to say, hey, if all y'all are worried about
Starting point is 02:52:57 is the championship and it's my job to coach, then I'm going to get on the player's side with some of this rest. Yes. Now, if y'all going to come to me with the business portion of that and ask me to receive it, then that's a new conversation. Well, with all due respect, Joe, that's very disingenuous. Why?
Starting point is 02:53:15 Because I shouldn't have to talk to somebody about business that's getting paid over $5 million a year at the time to coach the game of basketball. Clearly, that's business the five million dollar check you cash in annually is fucking business but i have my salary out here well wait a minute now part of the job is making sure to not compromise the bottom line of the brand if people showed up to the game and you got three stars that you, first of all, forget for a second that they didn't play.
Starting point is 02:53:48 You could have handled that a myriad of ways. You could have sent them home on a team charter. You could have sat up there and said they were sick. You could have did that, right? I mean, to sit up there and have them traveling on Southwest in a local airport in a local airport
Starting point is 02:54:03 knowing they're going to get hungry because you around them all the time, and they're standing in line for Chick-fil-A. Come on, bro. What you did was you did that on purpose to bring attention to the fact that you abhorred back-to-backs. You didn't give a damn what the NBA said. That move is foul. And you want to make that statement. You are correct.
Starting point is 02:54:22 That move is foul. That's what you did. But where we come from, right, I'm so used to coaches getting on TV saying, this game is over. We focused on the next game. The next game. The next game. Greg Popovich, how I understood it, he was so prophetic.
Starting point is 02:54:36 And some of these teams I may face. And I don't want to give y'all footage of what we look like fully armed. That's not what he said, too. That's not what he said too that's not what he said he said this he said yo and and this is where it becomes gray yeah we have to keep the product which is the nba and what we're selling we packing stadiums out we're selling the product but at the same token if we worried about championships i want my veteran players and my star players to limit the risk of injury
Starting point is 02:55:05 back to back spring. And I want them to be as fresh as possible for the playoffs. We know we're going to make the playoffs. So if I got the healthier team in the playoffs, then the probability of me winning is higher. Makes sense. You've read a lot. You know what you're talking about, but that ain't the story as it pertains to Popovich with that incident. No, that incident is wild shit. With that incident, he couldn't stand Davis Stern and the fact that they would schedule these back-to-backs. And he wanted to— This is an act of rebellion. That's disruptive.
Starting point is 02:55:39 He did it for that reason. Yes, I would agree. That reason. And so I'm not saying he wasn't trying to look out for his players and give them the rest and all that. I'm not questioning that. I'm just saying that that disdain for Stern and the league scheduling those back-to-backs was motivation behind the decision as well.
Starting point is 02:55:56 I would agree with you, 1,000%. And I'm saying you don't do that. True. You don't do that. True. That's all I'm saying. Listen, I'm so happy you're up here, and I've heard you at this point discuss LeBron and
Starting point is 02:56:07 Jordan so many times that I almost don't want to broach it, but I have to. I'm sure you have to. I have to. I wouldn't advise it, but you show you that. But why wouldn't you advise it? I wouldn't advise it. Let me tell you, this started as a troll for me. It did start, I'll be honest.
Starting point is 02:56:23 It started as a troll for me. Hey, LeBron's going to get the all-time scoring record. I thought Kobe would have got it had that injury not been there. Okay, probably. He would have went for it, I can tell you that. Oh, for sure, for sure, for sure. That's what he was. But in my trolling, the Jordan fans just act like this conversation wasn't one to be had.
Starting point is 02:56:43 So it enraged me a little little so now I just argue LeBron and I think I got a pretty good argument my issue with you is because I don't have any issue with anybody that says Jordan is the best player in the world I'm not stupid my issue with you because you're on television I think you have almost have to speak about the game as the game. I don't think you could get on TV and talk about the business of the NBA and how that ran neck and neck with Jordan's ascension. I don't think you could get on TV and talk about how David Stern's agenda at the time would mean Michael Jordan has to be the best player in the world for the NBA to grow I never hear y'all talk about that part I I genuinely don't understand what the hell you just said me either I disagree I really don't
Starting point is 02:57:35 I'm completely lost in what you're saying I disagree I don't understand what you who was who was supposed to be the face of the NBA if not Michael Jordan when you gotta give me specific years okay let's talk about it no I'll give you specific years okay Magic and Bird got bad backs they went to the dream team practice and seen this nigga dunking all over the place they knew it was over for them that's 1992 right yeah so we can't we're not handing it to them Magic's back wasn't bad Isaiah Thomas Joe Dumars the Pistons, all of that fighting and clothesline and shit, we're not passing the league
Starting point is 02:58:08 to y'all. Okay. What were the other options marketing-wise? Okay, there were no other options. No. But the reason
Starting point is 02:58:17 there were no other options is because anybody that played in that era would tell you there could not possibly be another option because Michael Jordan was head and shoulders above them all. Now let's break this down.
Starting point is 02:58:29 Magic Johnson comes in as a rookie, plays center game six, NBA finals against Caldwell Jones, Chocolate Thunder, Darryl Dawkins in the crew, drops 42. All right, 15 wins MVP. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar gotten hurt. I saw it on winning time. Remember winning time?
Starting point is 02:58:43 They talk about have no fear. The magic man is here, that kind of joint, whatever, fine. They also talked about the NBA damn near going out of business in Winning Time before Magic got there. I'm getting ready to go all day because I didn't need Winning Time for all of this. That's all the shit. All right, so here's the deal.
Starting point is 02:58:59 So what happens is that it's on tape delay. It's violence. It's drug infested. You're a few years removed from Rudy Tomjanovich nearly dying because, you know, Kermit Washington hit him with a punch, you know, whatever. You got all of that going on. And it was considered a quote unquote thuggish league that people didn't want to put on national television and invite into their living rooms. That's where Magic and Bird came in and they went about the business of assisting Converse, ultimately Nike down the road, all of that stuff,
Starting point is 02:59:32 in terms of marketing the NBA product before it would ultimately be put on national television. No matter how great Bird was, and he was great, no matter how great Magic was, and he was great, let me throw a few names at you. Bird had McHale, Parrish, Ainge, Dennis Johnson,
Starting point is 02:59:54 Gerald Henderson before that. All of these cats, right? Cedric Mackles, let me not forget my brother Cornbread who's still calling games for them and the whole nine. So you had that team. They used to have their tussles with philadelphia because everybody wanted dr j to win a title it had evaded him until moses malone 454 came along helped deliver that good interrupt the proceedings in 1993 right but remember dr j was with the sixes in 77 when they were up 2-0 on
Starting point is 03:00:21 bill walton had mcginnis and those boys and Bill Walton with Lionel Hollins and Maurice Lucas One of the enforcers came storming back one for straight Bill Walton established himself as one of the great sinners And then bird came along and the title kept eluding dr. Jack So everybody wanted that but it was Philly and doc and Boston really Initially until magic and Bird got it going. Then you got Magic. We talk about Byron Scott. We forget our brother Norm Nixon.
Starting point is 03:00:49 Norm Nixon. Prior to Byron Scott. We know about Worthy, right? You know Kareem, right? You know Michael Cooper, right? And then you could have these interchangeable parts to Kurt Rambis to Michael Thompson. Bob McAdoo's of the world. All of these cats surrounding all of them.
Starting point is 03:01:05 And then you have blue-collar Boston, white, cold weather, blue-collar town, all this other shit. You're always showing the train station over Boston Garden and shit, congestion and traffic and all of this other stuff, right? And it's rain and it's snow, and we're just going to be hard and shit. Versus these fur and then and then that's right hollywood niggas la la la you got purple and gold it always showed the la forum and and no matter what time of night it was it always showed the sunshine with the skyline
Starting point is 03:01:41 it was like la la you know what i'm saying and then you saw the stars coming in jack sitting courtside and eddie murphy arsenio hall back then and oh you saw all this right so it's like you had those two dynamics so they sold the game yes they used magic and bird but they sold the game and they had other parts and these brothers kept going to the finals where Jordan changed it is that excuse my language this motherfucker comes along and it's like oh shit second year in the league he misses a whole bunch of games got the foot injury Jerry Krause trying to tell him trying to mimic the owner from the Philadelphia Eagles when he told Reggie White like damn they're like we own you. You do what we say. Jerry Krause tried to tell Jordan that
Starting point is 03:02:28 shit. Jordan would listen. Came back with just a few games left. Shows up. Boston Guard in game two against Birdman. Drops 63. Lost. And Birdman called it. But wait a minute. It didn't matter because when Larry Bird,
Starting point is 03:02:44 a white superstar, busting black players ass on a night in and night out basis, runs across you and says, quote, that is God in gym shorts. It's over. Arrogant. It's over. Right. It's over. And so then Jordan takes it to another level. And instead, and think about this. Couldn't get over the hump. Isaiah and the Pistons kept standing his way time after time after time. I know this because Isaiah Thomas keeps reminding me.
Starting point is 03:03:14 We used to kick his ass. We used to kick the ass all the time. They used to beat him. Him, Lambert, John Sally, Dennis Robin, Michael Wave, Vinnie Johnson, Joe Dumas with him in the backcourt. Adrian Daly. Michael Wave coming over there. Adrian Daly. Michael Wave coming over there. Adrian Daly. By the way, Adrian Daly got it great because he wasn't getting along.
Starting point is 03:03:29 He wasn't vibing with them. They had to trade. They had to get his boy Mark Aguay up in there. Or James Edwards coming off the bench as a reserve. Or Chuck Daly, Daddy Rich, as John Sally would call him. You had all of this going on, and they kept standing in Jordan's way. And when he lost, never, ever did anybody look at Jordan and say it was his fault. He couldn't beat him. But you went like this.
Starting point is 03:03:52 You found yourself crying. Mike Pippen with the migraine. Game seven. I mean, everybody losing their mind and Michael Jordan on the bus crying with it every single time. Michael Jordan on the bus crying with every single time. Because this brother averaging 35 one year, 33, another 37, another busted everybody's ass. No help when it really, really counted. And so all of that was going on.
Starting point is 03:04:17 And he had ascended to such a point. There was no one else. There was no one. And I'm telling you what I know. There was no one And I'm telling you What I know There was nobody Stephen Okay But then why not Acknowledge That
Starting point is 03:04:29 David Stern's Agenda With marketing The NBA Through the 90s And adding to the Bottom line And to the money
Starting point is 03:04:36 And making this The biggest product In the world Ran hand in hand With all of this Jordan is the greatest Bullshit I'm not saying
Starting point is 03:04:44 It doesn't go hand in hand What I'm asking is I have is the greatest bullshit. I'm not saying it doesn't go hand in hand. What I'm asking is. I have the NBA and Nike. What I'm asking is what are you trying to say? That because David Stern was choosing to market Jordan, that somehow that gave Jordan an edge over the players? No, I'm saying that because David Stern chose to market Jordan and because Nike chose to market Jordan the way that they did
Starting point is 03:05:06 with these catchy jingles and Mike Mike and his commercials and the sneakers and everything was fire it added to the fans painting Michael Jordan as the best in the world he cannot be beat easy argument
Starting point is 03:05:20 easy argument to dispel with this one fact. You are wrong when you say Davis Stern chose. Nike chose. They had no choice. He was that dominant. I agree with this. It wasn't his paintbrush that painted anything.
Starting point is 03:05:41 What he was doing on a day in and day out basis painted any picture that they needed painted. Isaiah Thomas speaks to Michael Jordan running in David Stern's office and complaining about a whistle. We also have videos of Michael Jordan saying... Don't do what? We have videos of Michael Jordan saying to refs, hey, that wasn't
Starting point is 03:06:00 a foul, and them reversing the call. Fine. No problem. We do know that those things happen in the 90s. To every superstar in the 2020s. In any sport. In any sport. Joe, we've seen, we got shit. LeBron takes the ball. He palms the ball.
Starting point is 03:06:15 They throw it to him. He'll take four steps before he even puts the first dribble down. Let's stay here. Let's calm down. It's superstar shit. I don't want to talk about LeBron because there's a multitude of stars who get that whistle today. I'm in the 90s where it was just Mike.
Starting point is 03:06:30 Okay, all right. Were there other stars that got that whistle? Yeah. We call them along. Stars got whistles. Here's what you're missing. They got the whistle. It just wasn't against Mike.
Starting point is 03:06:39 But they got the whistles to help them get to where they are from time to time. I can't give you a specific incident because I ain't pay attention to that level because I understand that this happens with every game. But the reality is, is that you had let's look at it. Magic was older now, 91, when Jordan won the first title. Clyde Drexler and them in Portland. That's the second title. Clyde Drexler and them in Portland that's the second title third title Charles Barkley
Starting point is 03:07:07 Kevin Johnson Dan Marley Dave West that is the championship that counts so that happened right let me tell you something right now it would have been great for the NBA if Barkley would have won the title oh that would have been something they could have built off of
Starting point is 03:07:24 couldn't happen. Then you had Sean Kemp, a Skywalker. No, no, Skywalker with the glove, Gary Payton. You had, and they would have done anything for John Stockton to call him alone to win. And let's not forget the Eastern Conference. Riley goes into New York. We ain't talking about the players other than you and him.
Starting point is 03:07:44 We're talking about the New York market. So you're going into into New York. We ain't talking about the players other than you and him. We talk about the New York market. So you're going into the New York market and Riley tries to emulate bad boys basketball. You get Anthony Mason from, you got John Stockton from a grocery store. You get Oakley. You get him from Chicago. You get Anthony Mason from the CBA. You got all of this shit going on. Rest in peace, Mace.
Starting point is 03:08:03 Big Mace. No doubt. Xavier McDaniel. First remember, Nick's first playoff run when him and Jordan were head to head with each other, face to face, getting in each other's face. Jordan like F you, blah, blah, blah. Xavier McDaniel wasn't backing down. Nick's saying
Starting point is 03:08:15 they're coming. Indiana on the come up. Somehow, some way, no matter what obstacle you threw in the way of Michael Jordan, he knocked him out he overcame he knocked him out and everybody knew and and as a guy that's been covering the NBA since 1996 here's what I would tell you everyone has religiously said to me you feared Jordan you respect all these other dudes. The fear
Starting point is 03:08:46 that Jordan would instill in you because he was the kind of person that like I'm going to drop 50 on you tonight and he would do it. And by the way did he turn around and defensively shut
Starting point is 03:09:02 your ass down. I'm telling you what I know. And they would go at him like this. This dude, see I don't like telling this part because he's married, he's happily married and all of this other stuff. But Jordan was the kind of dude, man,
Starting point is 03:09:18 when he was single. When he was single. That's important. That's important. Jordan was the kind of dude that would roll up on you think? That's important. It's very, very important. That's important. Jordan was the kind of dude that would roll up on you, right? And you could have the finest ass honeys in the room. Don't mean nothing to him. Until he see the star he about to go against with him. And he was the kind of dude that would say something to her.
Starting point is 03:09:47 That's hate. He's horrible. All right? Just to have you 100% motivated to go at him, and then he would drop 50 on you. Now, see, these are the things we know. These are the things we know. See that? These are the things we know.
Starting point is 03:10:01 I ain't saying nothing happened or anything like that. I don't know nothing. ain't none of my business but i'm telling you he would do whatever it took to get the most out of you because he wanted you at your best he wanted you at your best so he could annihilate you and completely demoralize you from ever thinking you could fuck with him again. And that's what they said. That is Michael Jordan. Some people would be up 10 in the fourth quarter. He would say that's not enough.
Starting point is 03:10:32 Well, y'all have already let me know that there wasn't even a second option to market this league because he was heading toes better than everybody in the world. So none of this is shocking. You covered the NBA since 96. Since your memory is so good, since you want to tell me about all the NBA rosters in the finals that he beat. Here's a question for you. Who in all of those six championships, what opponent of his hit a step back three? None.
Starting point is 03:10:59 What opponent of his hit a step back three? Yeah, any of them in any of those. I mean, Hornacek did step back when he hit his three, so that doesn't count. Dan Marley didn't step back when he hit his three. Dan Marley had a spot of three. He didn't step back. That didn't count.
Starting point is 03:11:12 Barkley had a relatively set up three on a rare occasion. He shot a three. That didn't count. Eddie Johnson. Glove wasn't going to shoot any threes. And Eddie Johnson, he wasn't really guarding. So some of the moves creatively that these kids are doing at playgrounds, they're very creative. I don't know if Jordan is Jordan if you have to face some of these people that actually can do some of this stuff that is beyond our belief.
Starting point is 03:11:38 Okay. Well, let me throw that back. We saw what happened when he faced the crossover from Allen Iverson. Let me ask you a question. He damn near fell on his ass. We saw what happened when he went up against a white boy with some game, Rex Chapman, and Rex Chapman served him up. Like, if Rex Chapman can serve up Mike, then what do I think Mike is going to do?
Starting point is 03:11:55 Please never put Rex Chapman and Michael Jordan's name in the same sentence. I would never, but they played against each other. I'm happy to explain. I'll let you finish. Y'all would tell me that Michael Jordan who won all the Defensive Player of the Year awards never got cooked
Starting point is 03:12:08 so if he got cooked I never said that nobody says that nobody says that they speak when they speak of Michael Jordan they speak
Starting point is 03:12:17 like he never got cooked every person gets cooked if them niggas was cooking Mike what the fuck was Mike gonna do against the Splash Brothers?
Starting point is 03:12:26 Tell me. Klay Thompson wouldn't get 10 points. Oh, stop it. Whenever you'd like me to explain it to you, I will. Oh, shit. There you are. Oh, shit. Whenever you're Joe on Joe.
Starting point is 03:12:35 Give it to me. Okay. Give it to me. A couple of things. Every damn play has gotten cooked with a move here or there. I would like to remind you that the year that Allen Iverson did that crossover on Jordan, Jordan won the championship. That's neither here nor there. Here's the deal.
Starting point is 03:12:53 Jordan, when you look at him, you look at today's generation of players. Nobody is taking anything away from the fact that today's generation of players look better than they've ever been. They're faster. They're more athletic um they clearly could shoot better to some degree at least some of them rather all of those things are true but the word adaptation is applicable evolution you have to an evolution both you have to be able to look at somebody and we can look at certain players and we could say they could never be blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. There is no one on this planet that would ever look at Jordan and say that.
Starting point is 03:13:32 There's no one that would look at him and say he could never be a three point shooter. There's no one that would look at him and say he could never, you know, be a big guard and do what Kobe did there's no one that would look at him and say he could never do what LeBron James did with the no hand checking rule now and what have you because you can't do the hand checking rule all right first you had the Jordan whose rules were made to negate what Jordan brought to the table why because he was so dominant in isolation that you literally made it illegal to have two dudes on the same side on a wig offensively in order to deal with it you you had to deal with him because this brother in isolation would destroy people he'd rip souls
Starting point is 03:14:12 you understand and these are guys that admitted it they talked about we don't know what he is i love when john sally said when they were taping when they were taping the last dance and stuff and they had a line in there he said we had to get him the rule was get him before he gets airborne because you know he's not human right because you know he's not human because the john sally just saw this is what they did absolutely this is what they did and so now we got to take into account now here's where the whole lebron thing and i'm just going listen lebron to me is top two all time now if, if you disagree, you disagree. Where I get annoyed is when somebody's acting like I'm hating or disrespecting
Starting point is 03:14:50 because I got them too. The NBA started in 1947, god damn it. 1947, okay? The league has existed over 75 years. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a 19-time All-Star, six-time champion, six-time MVP, all-time leading scorer when he retired, the only individual in the history of the sport
Starting point is 03:15:07 invented by James A. Naismith who had one patented move that was never duplicated nor ever stopped. That's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and I have LeBron ahead of him. That is not disrespectful. It's because we don't like your reasoning. But here's the deal, what I said.
Starting point is 03:15:22 Well, here's the reasoning, okay? I'm looking at Jordan, a 10-time scoring champion. I'm looking at Jordan, a nine-time All-First Team NBA player. First team. I'm also looking at a six-time champion, six NBA Finals MVPs, never allowed one single championship series to get to a Game 7. Not only do I have that to bring up to bring up michael jordan but also but also first team all defense i already said it nine times all right all right you got
Starting point is 03:15:51 all this that five-time league mvp all of this other stuff is going on he never choked in an nba finals and it never happened it hold on it never happened I don't like bringing that up wait a minute Jordan if he didn't retire and remember we keep acting like he retired at baseball no he retired after his father died his father died and he wanted to leave the game
Starting point is 03:16:18 I'm just telling you I'm just telling you I don't play those theories I mean I know him and his father died bottom line I'm just telling you. You know the series. I don't play those series. I mean, I know him, and his father died. Bottom line is this. Here's the deal. He left the game.
Starting point is 03:16:37 Olajuwon, Ori, Kenny Smith. Sam Cassell. Otis Thorpe. Sam Cassell. They beat in Jordan and Pippen in them in the finals. Jordan would have won eight straight. He would have. He would have won eight straight. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Starting point is 03:16:49 I don't know that. I believe. Okay, we know that. That's speculative. None of us do. Robin Orr, when you asked them, boy, Kenny Smith, he talked about when you asked them, they believed that they would have. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 03:17:00 Okay. And I think, and Kenny Smith, in fairness to you, Kenny Smith did tell me that, and I told him he needed to get drug tested. But the point that I'm trying to make to you, that's my brother right there. We're very tight. But my point to you is that that's the situation. And so what I'm saying to you is this. You might have a point, Joe, if Jordan won from 91 through 98. And then on the last two years, it was Houston. through 98 and then on the last two years it was Houston but there was a two season gap where he didn't lose he didn't win because the first retirement and the second he came back out of retirement with only 17 games left and then Nick Anderson got the best of him when he was
Starting point is 03:17:37 rusty and then he destroyed him and get swept when y'all do that right no he just stripped the ball Nick Anderson but the point is is that you had that two-year gap. That two years was Jordan's prime. True. Those two years that Houston won was Jordan's prime. It wasn't at the tail end of his career. It's true. So if you could win three straight, miss it two years,
Starting point is 03:17:58 and then come back and win three straight, why couldn't he win two straight in the middle? True. Now, if you said he can't win it on the back end, I get you. But why not in the middle when that was his prime? I don't know that they could have beat that Rockets team. As a Knicks fan, I watched that Rockets team closely. I just
Starting point is 03:18:14 don't know. That's all. But Olajuwon was in his prime. Olajuwon potentially could have been exhausted for winning three straight championships. But listen, my thing is not about Mike. Mike is solidified. One more point. LeBron has gotten there in years where he was never supposed to get there and i hear you talk about his final losses his finals losses often but i think that matters number one i don't blame him for losing the first one to san antonio that wasn't his fault it's a miracle he got to the
Starting point is 03:18:40 finals he made me get mad respect for that and And the last time they lost to San Antonio, I don't blame him for that because D. Wade was hurt. And you needed D. Wade. And D. Wade's knees were shot. I don't blame LeBron for that. So those are two finals losses that I don't blame him for.
Starting point is 03:18:55 I certainly don't blame him for two of the losses against Kevin Durant because Golden State was loaded. And my God, KD with Klay and Steph. Oh, my Lord have mercy. No, I don't blame him for that, but I will blame him for this. Oh, Dallas is on you, bro.
Starting point is 03:19:10 Dallas is on you. That's number one. That's a fact. Number one. Number two, excuse me. You know, I have to look at you when I know you're going against Kevin Durant and I understand that.
Starting point is 03:19:25 I really, really do, but you cannot be given a damn concession speech after game seven of the conference finals. You beat Boston. You're ecstatic. You've done it again, LeBron. You're going to another finals, LeBron. You know, congrats, yeah, man, my guys, and we did it, and having a ball,
Starting point is 03:19:44 smiling, ecstatic, blah, blah, blah. You know Congrats you man My guys And we did it Having a ball Smiling Ecstatic Blah blah blah Now what's up next is KD And And And
Starting point is 03:19:51 And And And And And And And And
Starting point is 03:19:51 And And And And And And And And
Starting point is 03:19:52 And And And And And And And And
Starting point is 03:19:52 And And And And And And And And
Starting point is 03:19:52 And And And And And And And And
Starting point is 03:19:53 And And And And And And And And
Starting point is 03:19:53 And And And And And And And And
Starting point is 03:19:54 And And And And And And And And
Starting point is 03:19:54 And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And And rest of my life blah blah blah now credit to him that was that very next game that first game game one is when he dropped 51 and JR forgot the clock so anyway so we understand that but what I'm saying to you is that when you look at what he has had a vivid I still and certainly I don't blame him
Starting point is 03:20:18 when he only had was Matthew Delvedova because Kyrie and Kevin I don't blame him for that either so I understand it but what I'm saying to you is that you can't get, and this is the biggest point, y'all. When I bring up the choke, four straight games, he was being guarded in the post by Jason Terry. I want you to think about that for a second. He was so scared. He was so scared.
Starting point is 03:20:43 And I brought this up recently because I knew I was going to meet you. I was going to see you. And damn it, I brought the tape with me. The following year, now this is the first year he won the title when they beat Oklahoma City.
Starting point is 03:20:55 Go back to that All-Star game. When they had lost to Dallas, he comes back for the next season. His second year in Miami. They had All-Star weekend. It's an exhibition. You're having fun. The fans are there, whatever.
Starting point is 03:21:13 The game is coming down to the wire. Kobe claps his hands. No, no, that's not it. Kobe claps his hands, spreads his arm. I'm guarding you. I'm guarding you. Here we are. And LeBron turns the ball over
Starting point is 03:21:26 because he tries to make a corner pass to Carmelo. Forget the pass for a second. Melo, D-Wade, Kobe all descend upon LeBron. What's wrong with you? What you doing? Because it was evidence that he was psyched out because there was never any he was psyched out because he was it wasn't there was never any questions about his abilities mentally he didn't have that confidence and so his whole commitment
Starting point is 03:21:53 was to doing it the right way because it was the only thing he was confident in he wasn't confident in his free throw shooting he wasn't confident in his perimeter shooting he wasn't confident in having that killer instincts that people thought he had it because he dropped 25 straight against Detroit. But it didn't stop there. He had other moments where it wasn't there. What I'm saying to y'all is this.
Starting point is 03:22:13 That was never Jordan. He had it on. Ever. Never Kobe. Ever. And that is what separates. If you want to tell me that LeBron is Eclipses Jordan,
Starting point is 03:22:24 I would say to you give me 2012 to now you got an argument we can have that discussion i don't believe it but we can have that discussion but when you take into account those formative years where you had to go and join d wade when you had to have a press conference for the entire season and you can't even sit by yourself to answer questions because D-Wade your big brother has to sit next to you because your confidence is that shot he wasn't feeling safe when you have that going on there we go when you have that going on when you have that going on that was never Jordan ever and that right there is the key to the difference between Jordan and LeBron Jordan Jordan was Jordan LeBron had to learn to become Jordan-esque Kobe didn't have to
Starting point is 03:23:18 learn it LeBron didn't have I mean Jordan didn't have to learn it the only reason why Kobe doesn't get the nod over Jordan is, number one, he's number two at the same position that Jordan played. And number two, he has Shaq for the first three championships. Otherwise, we'd be talking about how Kobe should be ahead of LeBron. That is why I have LeBron number two. I don't give a shit what anybody says.
Starting point is 03:23:40 It is a fact. That is reality. Michael Jordan played 10 years, barring the two years that he got the serious injuries right he played two years where he played like 17 games 12 games some shit like that one year he only played 60 games if you count up all the other years he played he missed like 15 games dog and like 10 82 82 81 80 he don't miss games he played every night and the rules were tougher
Starting point is 03:24:05 the game was considerably more physical and all of those things were applicable to what trans true that's my argument fuck out
Starting point is 03:24:13 and that's what it is crack your fucking no that's my man right here that's my man right here you good my last question to you
Starting point is 03:24:21 real quick the greatest championship NBA championship you've ever seen in your life. Which one? The greatest NBA championship? Yeah, like the run. A lot of people say that LeBron coming back from 3-1 against Golden State
Starting point is 03:24:34 is probably one of the greatest runs I've seen. You know, for me, I'm old school. That Ray Allen shot for me is big, too. That Ray Allen shot was big. But when Boston beat LA in seven when Magic turned the ball over like three times Dennis Johnson
Starting point is 03:24:48 stripped them twice and they were calling them tragic that was one of the greatest final series I've ever seen got it my last question
Starting point is 03:24:56 how many games did the Jets win after the Aaron Rodgers debacle six to seven they got the six toughest
Starting point is 03:25:02 schedule in the NBA in the NFL I'm sorry this season but that's about it the NBA and NFL, I'm sorry, this season, but that's about it. Ladies and gentlemen. Hold on,
Starting point is 03:25:09 ladies and gentlemen, I don't get my girl Melissa to ask me no questions. She's been sitting here the whole time. She didn't say one word the whole
Starting point is 03:25:13 interview. You only known me for two decades for crying out loud. What's going on? Hold on. Yeah, why you just
Starting point is 03:25:18 lean back? Come on. You've known Stephen A. so long. Come on. That's a whole interview.
Starting point is 03:25:23 Oh, wow. I ain't going to lie. The niggas be coming up here, they know you, and you letting your shit hang. Salute, Melissa. I'm hating. I'm about to hate.
Starting point is 03:25:33 Steve and A just stopped. Steve, I tell you. What I want to tell you. I'm about to hate. No, no, no. No, not like that. Not like that. Not like that.
Starting point is 03:25:41 But Melissa, you know what it is? Melissa has been around so long, and so many people have so much respect for her. She dials that down around us because we're like her brothers. She does. So when the guests come, she just kind of lets her ambiance be. She show who the real Melissa is. She show who the real Melissa is. You guys, she's sitting right now.
Starting point is 03:25:56 Go ahead, Mel. Go ahead, Mel. Big Mel. Big Mel. She got her shoulders back and shit. Steve and they acknowledge her. You're looking good. I'm hating now, see?
Starting point is 03:26:04 She's always been cool with me, and she's always been good to me. We've been friends for years. It's good to see you. It's been and shit. Stephen A. acknowledged me. I'm hating now, see? She's always been cool with me, and she's always been good to me. We've been friends for years. It's good to see you. It's been a while. Me too. Me too. And you are so exquisitely loquacious that it's really... Shut up, all of you!
Starting point is 03:26:18 Hey, ladies and gentlemen, Stephen A. Smith! Thank you, Steve. My man. It's that damn laugh. Stephen A. Smith. Legend. Nah, he's the man. I was distracted
Starting point is 03:26:41 because nigga just smelled like money. You see that suit? Yes. It was the shoes. It was all that shit. It was a nice little shoe. Weight loss. When niggas get a certain amount of money, they in shape.
Starting point is 03:26:53 No, they start getting healthy. They in shape. Nigga get the treadmill on incline 17. Nigga be having shit like this? No bullshit. Not only did he look good, I let him live. I mean, I let him live a little bit. He's too passionate.
Starting point is 03:27:07 He's too passionate about sports. That's what it was. He starts sounding like Mad Dog Russo. I like that. You can memorize the roster from the Sixers
Starting point is 03:27:15 in 74, and they're like, you got it, dog. You got it, big dog. I'll be all technical and shit. I don't give a fuck about that part.
Starting point is 03:27:24 I just said, I thought this. Hey, yeah. You invested. I be on technical and shit. Damn. I don't give a fuck about that part. I just said I thought this. Hey, yeah. You invested. I see why you got the money. Yeah. And you know your shit, too. Oh, yeah. I meant to ask him about the ESPN Deportes clip, but he was spitting too much knowledge.
Starting point is 03:27:38 I didn't want to be silly in the moment. No, that was a real good thing, talking about the business. That Pac McAfee shit, he cleared up a bunch of that shit. Because a lot of niggas, even us, be talking from outside the lines and don't know what we be talking about sometimes. And he just clarified that shit like that. Yo, can I make a request to y'all? Live on here, y'all never heard it before. Hey, you YouTubers, get ready to clip it up.
Starting point is 03:28:01 Go to their faces. They like when I just pop up. Can I make a request I know that me myself flip ish ice and parks like we kind of have it understood like to stop dog piling on mail but I want to bring that back I know we had like a little rough month last month. But the second we stopped dog palling, yo, she get crazy. Can we bring dog palling back? Like just for a couple episodes?
Starting point is 03:28:34 What would you like to dog pally? Mel. Tell me. Mel, we want. Nah, come on. Come on, come on, man. Yeah, tell me. I figured it out.
Starting point is 03:28:43 I figured it out. But no, I can't do it by myself. No, it ain't getting me. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. I figured it out. Mel just sometimes got to remind niggas, hey, I'm her.
Starting point is 03:28:59 And I've been her for a long time. There's only, I want to offer some pushback to that. Go ahead. To which part? Her being her? Mm-hmm. Oh, shit. Salute.
Starting point is 03:29:14 Shit. Fuck them video vixen bitches, right? No, no, no. No. That's what you say. No. It's on Patreon, nigga.
Starting point is 03:29:26 What are you doing? Now you want to separate Now you want to separate Patreon from the real episode This is my problem With Mel being her And I have no problem With her being her But if you her
Starting point is 03:29:36 Just be her Be braggadocious about it? No But just be Her Like I believe that you are So why not just be heard at all times? You dumb it down
Starting point is 03:29:48 a lot. You dumb it down a lot. And you do it on purpose. And then, like you said, now you'd be so shocked when we'd be cracking on you. It's like, oh my God, is it like having brothers? It's like, yeah, this is what it's like being around like niggas that ain't trying to. So you become,
Starting point is 03:30:04 but when the guests come you turn into it's like a jam truly outrageous truly truly truly outrageous whoa jam like you turn into jam
Starting point is 03:30:19 and as your brothers we don't like seeing that transformation in real time when you kick your little thigh up, when the hair goes back. Shoulders go up. Yeah. When you start sitting away. You were sitting away. We were like, oh, we've known each other for a while.
Starting point is 03:30:34 Yeah. Why do you always do it? We don't want to hear that shit. I legit did not do. I didn't do anything. Bring back dog power. Bring back dog power. I was sitting right there.
Starting point is 03:30:44 Bring back dog power. I didn't right there. Bring back dog power. I didn't say shit. I didn't do nothing. You didn't have to say nothing because in your mind, you already knew what it was. And then when he brought it to you, you're like, hey, I'm really here so Melissa Ford can ask me a question. And you're still muting. Oh, no.
Starting point is 03:30:57 No, no. I was fly. No, no, no. I was ill. Another time you show like you. You're going to stop misusing this platform when guests come up here. No. See, now look, we have talked a lot about Stephen A You gonna stop misusing this platform when guests come up here No see now look
Starting point is 03:31:06 We have talked a lot about Stephen A. Smith Coming up to this platform a lot We discuss him on this platform a lot So when we finally get him here My instinct Now we've been saying this about people that are not Stephen A Well I'm just I'm talking about him

Starting point is 03:31:32 You back on door power. And I'm joining in. We back around regular niggas now. Hey, listen. I was just giving him the entire runway. That's it. Just give him the runway. No, that's what we know.
Starting point is 03:31:39 That's what we're saying. We know. And he stopped the whole shit before he left to acknowledge you. And then you got the solo pictures. You ain't hitting no more. Salute. Mel, you my nigga. That's what you got?
Starting point is 03:31:56 You're welcome. Yeah, that's what I got. Bring back Dog Palace. Roof. Bring back Dog Palace. Roof. Bring back Dog Palace. Roof.

Starting point is 03:32:32 but it's fine. It's fine. Exactly how y'all act. That's exactly how you do it. Oh, then that's wrong. Because I want to be way more immature than I am when I see it happening. Okay, well,
Starting point is 03:32:44 let's put it to the test. Well, we can act as immature as we want? Yeah. Next time? No, with Steve and AZ, I got to act mature. But the next guest you do that shit around, I'm dog power. All right, well. I can't even do it by myself.
