There was a few things where I was like, this is too much. But I went in, in general, expected it with a low expectation. I walked out like, yo, I'm enjoying this. This is good. Oh, wait, I'm enjoying this music. Oh, I like this story. Because I didn't go in. Let me tell you why.

That's what I was trying to say. That was the, you could tell the thing on the movie was. Shaking off his dad. If it was, if this joint, last thing I was say,

if this was on Netflix or if this was maybe even on a network, we'd be praising it, right? I think because it's a cinematic release, the expectation was higher. But just as an entertaining movie, I thought the kid did a good job playing Michael Jackson, which I didn't expect. I thought the costumes of makeup...

The kid as in who, Jafar? Jafar. I thought Jafar did a good job. I thought the costumes and makeup were solid. There were some mistakes, like, you know, wrong hairstyle for the wrong year, little nerd mistakes.

But I thought the shit was... Honestly, I thought I was going to come here, giving it a C-minus, and I would give it a B. Oh, really? I would stick with the C for me. me personally. I thought it was, it was entertaining. It was entertaining, but it was, I guess, kind of cheesy, maybe. Yes. It was a little cheesy. It felt like it could have easily

have lived on Hulu or Netflix, but with a nicer budget because it looked expensive. Yeah. But to be, I'm not going to be. Or red sticks. I don't know. I don't know. That you're going to be on magic. I thought it was, like, I didn't like the way that they obsessed on all those very strange shit about Michael, which I get you have to address it, I guess, on some level, like the surgeries and the vitilago and all that shit. Yeah. But they dwelled on it in a weird way to me

where they didn't really talk about his artistry enough for me, I think. Right. It was like sensationalized artistry, which he's a pop star, so that part should be kind of like left unsaid. But he was more than that. Yeah. And they didn't really tap into that for me.

That's true. And that's part of why this movie was absolute trash for me. but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. There was some funny shit. Like I told y'all, I was the only person in that theater howling laughing from the onset. I was laughing. Not from the onset.

Once the monkey came in the movie. And the monkey came off the truck. I was like, all right. Well, because the movie starts, this is Michael. First of all, this is Michael Jackson. This is him. Yes. The movie starts with.

A really bad vocal of a Michael Jackson song. It was almost like hurt my ears, whoever that was, singing that. Just on the opening. Got me. I'm already laughing. This is all right. You're talking about when they were in the living room practicing? Before they even, yes, before the movie even starts.

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I guess that's what that was. That's them singing in the living room. So that was a mess. So then they opened up. I assumed that was intentional to show like, oh, he became. Which is hard when you say it's perfect pitching. He's a natural talent.

I can't imagine Michael ever sounded that bad. I'm sure he did. Everyone does at some point. But yes, carry on. Sorry. So they opened up with them singing in the living room. And Jafar did a great job. Even though, well, he did a great job.

And he looks a little like Michael because he's Jermaine's son. He's related. And that made me look at Jermaine and Jafar weird because, nigger, I feel like Jermaine wanted to be Michael. So now here go your son trying to be Michael. And you executive produced all this shit. And you executive produced the other one that we love, the one that came out in 92.

The American Dream. The American Dream. He was on there. Like, why Jermaine always on the back end? They all listed as EPs on this. Yeah, it was like. They all didn't dress like Jermaine dressed at the premiere. But anyway, young Michael Jackson.

I will also say, too, in regards to the Vidaligo, the nose job, all that stuff, it didn't really, it just said that it happened and it didn't really discuss enough for me why it happened. This is the Marshall's version of this is... There's some stuff missing. But I think when I see a family make a film about somebody whose life is complicated and messy and interested in and brilliant, I always expected to look like that. So I guess I just, my expectations were so. managed coming in. And is it possible that the family protected Joe? Yes, if I look it.

You know what I'm saying? Yeah, a little bit. I mean, LaToya has to say all kinds of shit about Joe and that stuff wasn't in there. So, you know, I mean, all kinds of shit. Because I know you were saying like they didn't really they cut out. They didn't really show how Joe was on his ass.

And if the family has to say so in this, it's like we don't want that part out there that bad. Yeah, and that might have been a tug of war between the different siblings. And that might have been part of what Janet didn't want to be a part of. I don't want to speculate about Janet so much, but I know they all have very different experiences with Joe. like some of her experiences with Joe and some of her allegations. And then I've heard Michael say things. I've talked to Marlon. He said different. And so I think they wanted to just show, look, this dude was rough. And clearly, we're not going to go as far as. But we're not going to go into all these different directions. And the movie is not about the abuse.

The beef is points of being made here, but, oh, you know. Financial security and connections. Then she goes on to found, yes, multi-billion dollar companies. And that does require hard work.

But she co-founded them with Kardashians, which means she had the proximity to Kardashians to say, hey, let's go into business together. And without the Kardashians in the equation, sure, she would have been successful. But I don't know multi-billion dollar valuation successful. Just saying. And also, she isn't immigrant, but a British immigrant.

And let's be real. Americans fall for a British accent. They think that whatever comes out, if the British accent is brilliant. So ultimately, what I want is just some acknowledgement of, like, yes, I'm a very hard worker. But I have these advantages. Acknowledge your privilege.

Because it's not like if women come to work patriarchy is not going to exist. Pay differences aren't going to exist. Coming to work isn't an anecdote. That's the backlash.

That can sometimes be used as an excuse, especially against women of color, to ignore the other things that make women a color face challenges other than just not working hard enough. And that's what they're saying. And that becomes a problem. I'm not saying that was her intention. Can her message be saying I know those things, but staying home makes it

harder on top of those? And I think if she had said, look, I notice all these other factors, but also you're not doing yourself any favors, that would be a different message. And if you didn't have the benefit of sitting with her for two and a half hours and kind of knowing her a little bit, I think I could see how, I could just see how the message gets received.
