I'm Gina Livi and welcome to the Livi Method Podcast.
This is where you'll have access to all of the live streams from my 91 Day Weight Loss
program.
With a combination of daily lives, guest expert interviews, and member stories, there is something
new almost every day.
Miss the Morning Live?
Want to relisten to one of our amazing guest experts?
Well, this is the place.
This podcast is hosted on Acast,
but it's available on all podcast platforms,
including the one you're listening to right now, Spotify, Apple, and Amazon music.
This is an opportunity to become curious.
To learn some things. How do we help you feel less overwhelmed
so you can continue on your journey?
Keep believing in yourself and keep trusting the process.
Just be patient.
It's just behind the scenes with my guest today saying,
I'm so excited.
Like this never gets old.
We've had so many conversations around the same topic
over and over and over again.
And our conversations are never what you think they're going to be.
They are always exactly what you need to hear.
And I have the best team of guest experts today.
You get to meet some of them.
Dr. Beverly David is in the house, clinical psychologist.
Hello, Dr. Dina Kara Schaefer, learning strategist, also the author of feel good learning and raising
well learners. Dr. Lincoln Trejo, the hormone queen is
here and Dr. Paul Herkel. Hello. Hi. Hi, everyone.
I don't get I don't get a descriptor, Gina. I'm just like
the I'm like the OG guy.
You're the OG guy. That's it. You're the OG guy.
You're the star of the introduction.
That's okay.
I'm just like a mic drop.
Just boom.
Okay.
Dr. Paul.
You are.
Absolutely.
I mean, let's talk about you, Paul,
because you started, you were like my first guest
to come on and talk about supplements.
You're going to be back talking about that.
But our conversations have evolved so much.
Of course.
Like root causes, all sorts of stuff.
We get into the weeds.
What do you mean by root cause?
Let's talk about that because that word is thrown out a lot around there.
A lot of people, especially the ones that come see me in my practice, they're saying,
okay, I have these issues and I can't lose weight.
Why?
And so we start looking at
the possible obstacles to that. And you know, you can describe
them as rude causes. I mean, you know, most doctors, if you ask
them, we'll say, of course, we want to address the reason why a
person has symptoms. But because of a lot of constraints in the
current medical system, everything's kind of been more
geared to a quick fix, Gina. And that's something that we really pride ourselves,
I think, as part of the conversations that we have and definitely in my practice is that we really take the time to try to
unpack and unwind a lot of the things that people are experiencing and not go just go for the quick fix.
Why is a person's
thyroid not functioning well? And can we address that? And could that
be the root cause of their sluggish weight loss? Those are the one example of what we try to look
at. Yeah. Dr. Paul is going to be back in a few weeks and we're going to talk about reasons why
your weight might be slower to move. It's way too early to tell at this point, but inflammation is a
big one. Food sensitivities, gut issues.
We're gonna talk a lot about your microbiome
and of course hormones, hormones, hormone, hormones.
And not just menopause, right Dr. Alinka?
Like hormones are relevant to everybody.
Everybody has hormones.
Hormones make the world go round.
I think that right now, rightly so,
there's a huge focus in the media and in medicine about the forgotten
menopause conversation that, you know, was as women we had to suffer through for generations,
but no longer you guys. But honestly, I love our conversations because they think that when women
and men think about hormones, they just think estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, there's a
little bit of conversation about cortisol in your adrenals, but they forget
about everything else, right?
They forget about your thyroid, they forget about growth hormone, they forget about dopamine,
they forget about some of the gut hormones actually that right now we're targeting with
these obesity medications.
So it's my favorite conversation as you know.
Well, it's interesting because at the end, we were doing surveys and someone mentioned yeah it was just way too much
conversation on menopause. I'm like we had like one conversation on it and I
think what they meant was way too much conversation on hormones but it's really
important to understand hormones because I mean essentially that's those are
those messengers that's telling the body what what's going on it and what to do
and whatnot. You have a beautiful way all of you have just an incredible way of breaking things
down in a way that we can understand and give us information that we can actually take action
on.
That's why I love all of our guests.
They actually have a passion for helping people and you don't get this kind of access.
Like Dr. Paul was saying, you go, you see your doctor, you're in there for 10, 15 minutes
maybe.
You don't have this kind of access to this type of information. Why do we need a clinical
psychologist? Well, how many thousand reasons do you want?
Well, I'm glad you made one. I'm glad to hear.
Dr. Beverly David has been with us for a while and man, I mean, I don't even notice where
to start with the conversations that we're going to have. How your past history with
dieting affects your current journey, showing up, feeling worthy, unpacking. Some people
have to unpack a lot of trauma in order
to continue to show up. People will be working through grief while they're trying to reach
their goals. Yeah, there's a lot. What am I missing, Dr. Beverly?
I think it's even everything Paul was saying.
It's getting to the root of things,
moving up that street to think, okay,
who are we in the roots and how did our trunk get built
and how did our branches form?
And it's a little bit more fragile
when a certain window hit us in the direction.
So I love being here to dismantle that.
And like Paul said, it's not a quick fix.
So 91 Days gives us all a chance to allow you
to have access to different professionals
that it is unfortunately so hard to access,
whether it's financially or our ridiculous waiting list,
that it is an honor.
And I love being able to do this
because then we make a difference to more people
and our reaches further and we can just throw our net
to more people that might be able to think,
oh, that little bit just resonated
or I didn't know that bit could affect my weight loss
or my health or my journey or my stuckness
or my readiness for change.
So I love being part of this group
so that we can unpack and dismantle and look at these little bits that can really block us,
block our wants and our desires for the next chapter. So we're all here to help give you a
little bit extra so that you've got more in your toolbox. And if that isn't enough, Dr. Beverly's passion is sleep. She's also a sleep researcher. And what's
happening in your brain and how does that affect the choices that you're making when you're not
getting enough sleep? So we're also going to be unpacking that as well. Dr. Tina Kara Schaefer,
as well, our author in the house, author of Feel Good Learning and Raising a Well Learner. She's a learning strategist.
Now you may be wondering what? Why? Why do we need a learning strategist? Well, we've come to learn
that weight loss is all about unlearning a lot of things and relearning things and learning new
things. How does that come into the picture when we're trying to lose weight, Dina? Hello, hi.
to the picture when we're trying to lose weight. Dina, hello, hi.
Yeah, hi.
Oh, it's so good to be here with you, Dina,
in this beautiful, inspiring group.
I just like showing up.
I just like hanging out.
That's why I'm here.
Do you have any of your popcorn?
I'm here because it's a really helpful field
that nobody knows about.
And yet, what are the words, if you say, how are you?
How's it going?
What are the words so many of us say?
I'm overwhelmed.
I'm stressed.
I'm stretched thin.
And so that's what I'm here to do, because essentially,
what the Living Method is, it's a kind of masterclass.
It's a masterclass in taking care of yourself.
And we can't just throw around words anymore
like prioritization or make good habit.
What does that mean and how do you do it?
So that's what I'm here.
I'm here because my entire life is devoted
to making suffering and learning.
Usually in my learning strategies agency,
it's to do with students across the years and grades.
But when it comes to the older learners,
like the rest of us who are still learning things all of the time,
not necessarily in formal programs,
but in like in the life projects we take on like this can be really helpful to
have someone along with a ride to break down information,
to help with the time management piece, to make sure
that we're not putting ourselves in the background but actually the foreground of our own lives,
to help the folks who have ADHD in the house. That's why I'm here, to help the learning piece
go a little bit smoother because there's a lot to learn and to your point to unlearn.
And we have, good thing we have quite a bit of time in order to do that.
So all of our guests are going to be back continually and keeping the conversation going.
What's really, what I say which is really incredible is that you're following the program
and they will know exactly where you are at in the program, the kind of conversations
that you need to have.
It's that really kind of concentrated focus.
But with that said, I want to break this conversation down into two parts. I want to address first our new members. What is some words of wisdom or words of advice or something that you think is important for our new members to hear to help set them up for success as they start this journey? Who wants to go first? Are we rock, paper, scissors, you know?
as they start this journey. Who wants to go first? Are we rock, paper, scissors, scissors? I want to go first. I want to go first. Rock, paper, scissors, I'm going to lose because
Dr. Beverly makes up new ones. There's going to be a submarine one. Who knows? Dynamite,
There's like going to be a submarine one. There's who knows?
I don't dynamite.
That's go visit last season.
That's a full.
It's a, okay.
So what, what did new members,
what could they benefit from hearing?
Yeah.
Don't try to do it all.
I continue to love participating,
not just because of the community,
not just because of what it means to be
and beautiful, fun, uplifting
collaboration, Gina, but because of the way that you do what you do.
You offer so many roots in.
And that can get mistaken for, oh, I have to access all of these different pieces.
I have to read the book.
I have to journal. I have to app. I have to read the book. I have to journal.
I have to app.
I have to listen to the podcast.
I have to join Facebook Lives.
Like, yes, you can.
And also you don't have to do each of those.
You get to figure out what works not only for your kind
of way of learning, your constitution,
your beautiful brains and spirits,
but also like, what does your life allow?
For a year, I accessed your program
on my journey up to my job.
It was like the perfect amount of time.
So it was really listening to your podcast.
And so there is no wrong way, there is no one way.
And I wouldn't want new folks to be like,
okay, I'm already overwhelmed. Part of this program is how do I healthfully sit with
overwhelm and find healthful approaches tools to navigate overwhelm and so like
that's lesson number one is when I'm overwhelmed what do I do and so we'll
talk about this in early conversations, but
don't try to do it all. Break it down into what do I need to do today or what do I need to do this
week? And also what is the modality that works best for my life? You don't have to, you don't need to
do and access it all. Yeah, love that.
Because as a learning strategist,
and she can appreciate that we have
the Facebook support group, we have the app,
we have the books, we have the journals,
we have the podcasts.
It's not meant to overwhelm you
where you have to use everything.
It's to figure out how you learn best.
And that's why they're there.
All right, who's next?
Who wants to go next?
All right. I'll piggyback on wants to go next? All right.
I'll piggyback on that.
I'll piggyback on that because I think it's so important
for new people that come into a program.
You know, a lot of us have kind of experienced
dieting culture as this like very painful
dieting experience that you just can't wait to stop
so that you can go
back to living your life right and I think that this is more about creating a
life that you enjoy living that has the side effect of weight loss and I think
that the only way that you can do that is by changing your mindset and really
truly letting go of that perfectionism, all or nothing mentality
that I honestly, I do think is very,
it's at the core of the diet and culture, right?
And that's actually what tells you that
if you're not perfect and if you're not 100%
that you're not doing it right.
If you're doing everything,
then your skills should do A, B and C.
And if it's not doing that, then you're not, this isn't worth it.
This is not, you know, that you're not, you're not getting the results that you want.
This you might as well like give up.
And we always talk about this, but perfection truly is the enemy of consistency.
And what we're trying to teach you here, which is what Dr. Dina was talking about,
it's you don't have to do it all.
You just have to show up for yourself.
And the only way that you fail't have to do it all. You just have to show up for yourself.
And the only way that you fail is by giving up.
And that is our definition in this program.
It's you just have to focus on the progress
versus the perfection and let go of the I shoulds, I need to,
I have to, which really have that undertone of you're
not good enough and kind of disregard
all of the progress that you've made, right?
And so I think focusing on that,
why you're here from the beginning and writing it down
and setting those intentions every single day
that honestly, even I know it sounds so cliche
because I'm an atrophist, I'm like, oh my God, of course,
like right, and like meditate, but it's true. It brings you back to like, why you're here. And I just want to invite new people that are here, whose goal is to
lose weight. And I understand that that is our ultimate goal, which is great. But like, what if the goal was not just
about the number on the scale, but it was about the daily actions
of showing up for yourself
so that you live and create a beautiful life
where you have energy, where you're sleeping well,
where you have all of these tools in your toolbox,
where if you have setbacks, because we're not perfect,
perfection is not part of the human condition, right?
We all know this.
But when you have setbacks, you respond in a way
where you still show up for yourself and you move forward. And we don't really believe in moving
backwards here because moving backwards negates all of the progress that you've made. We just
show up. And even if that means that you show up 1% today because 1% is all you have today,
you just show up. And that can be just listening to the podcast.
That can be today.
It's just, you know, I can't do anything outside of just adding greens to my lunch.
Amazing. That's one percent.
And if you I mean, if you're an adult, you know, that compounding interest is the way to go.
You know, if you want to get to a million dollars, it's not you're not going to save up a million dollars all at the same time.
It's just you put in a hundred dollars and eventually that becomes a million dollars. It's not you're not going to save up a million dollars all at the same time. It's just you put in $100 and eventually that becomes a million dollars, right? So I think for me truly, it's the letting go of that if I can't do this 100%, then I might as well quit. And embracing the even if I'm not perfect, I can still make progress today.
embracing the, even if I'm not perfect, I can still make progress today.
Yeah, all those small things add up.
I want all of our new members,
I know you're just meeting our guests today,
go back and listen to this conversation, right?
Like be present for it right now,
but like go back and listen, not just today,
but maybe the next day or next week, right?
Like it's honestly,
because you'll get to look back in hindsight,
you're gonna be like, oh, okay,
these people are brilliant because they are. Who's next? Who's next?
Dr. Beverly, Dr. Paul?
What do you want to do, Paul?
Go for it. I'll do cleanup.
Okay. It's like you're all reading my mind. One percent, I did written down.
Consistency, the why. Okay, so the new members and new members doing it again,
okay, like just people starting again. Yeah, yeah. Think of the acronym START,
okay, because you know I love acronyms and I thought, okay, how can we use the START,
X, see the possibility, okay, actually sit down and start thinking on what is possible,
Okay, actually sit down and start thinking on what is possible. What do I want to do?
Why am I here?
Where do I want to go?
What is my direction?
Do I want to be healthier?
Do I want to be more vital?
Do I want to also lose weight?
Do I want to be able to play with my grandchildren or think about being able to be more involved
in my own children?
What, you know, see that possibility and really plant that seed.
And that maps onto a stage in psychology called the contemplative stage,
that sort of readiness for change.
T this talks about what Dina was saying.
Take small steps.
We have 91 days.
And so this is about doing the manageable actions.
And if you're here today,
or if you're listening a little bit later, you're doing it.
You're taking the steps, whether that's 1% more water,
more greens, whatever it is,
having a look at that first chapter,
looking in your fridge and your cupboards,
it's taking manageable actions.
And that will help you not to become overwhelmed. This then maps
onto that preparation and action stage in psychology of a change of behaviour. We're
starting to change and we're starting to do things that help us change. It's hard to eat
fruit if we haven't got fruit in the house. It's hard to eat protein if we haven't got
proteins in the house. A, align with your values.
This is lovely, this is what Elinka was saying.
Know your why, because the values help us stay in the game.
If the value is health and longevity and personal growth,
and not just a number on a scale,
you're more likely to be able to manage those ebb and flows
because Gina will show you, and it's so freeing and calming to know yes the scale is
going to go up and down and we want to be able to manage that without thinking
that's it. That now reflects my worth. It never does. You are worthy always
whatever that scale says. And then that moves on to the reflect and adjust
and this also helps us because we have to be able to move and ebb and flow. If we can't do it
perfectly just like Elinq was saying, progress over perfection, adjust. See if you can adjust
yourself today, see if you can just think okay I wasn't able to do what I intended to do this morning, but I'm not going to write off the day, I'm going
to recalibrate and I'm going to write my ship and tomorrow's a new day. And then the biggest
one of all, T, trust the process. Because just like Alinka alluded to, we have not trusted
diets because they have, you know, they've worked for what they worked for
and then straight away we put the weight back on.
Or just like Alinka said, we don't like it
and we cannot wait to go back to whatever normal is.
This is, if you're aligning with values,
hopefully what you want for your life,
healthy, powerful, enriching.
It's just, yeah, just stay in it and think of that start. Every morning, I want you to think of that. You can look at it for the 91 days, but you can also look at it at
the daily morning. How am I going to start my day? S-T-A-R-T. See the possibility, take small steps,
align your values, reflect and adjust, trust the
process.
Can someone behind the scenes put that on a t-shirt, on a fridge magnet, on a screen
saver or something for us, please?
Because we know the people are going to ask.
Oh, that's brilliant.
Dr. Paul, a message for our new members or our new members starting again, as Dr. Beverly
said.
It's a good point, by the way.
There's a saying, knowledge is power,
but I think, and everyone's in search of knowledge,
but what I think, what everyone just heard is above that.
That's wisdom.
And I think that's what's so incredible
about just being part of this group,
part of this conversation,
is that what these three ladies just shared is
not just something that someone's posting on Instagram.
This is like from seeing and interacting with hundreds of people that have gone through
this program.
And the experience, even just the evolution of now that we've done this a third time, you know, I'm just really
incredibly just overwhelmed by just the amount of knowledge and wisdom that that was just dropped
here. So of course being fourth and in this conversation is a little daunting. However,
I will tell you that, you know, probably because I'm the OG guy, I've probably seen
the most amount of members that have gone through the program in my practice.
And that's given me an interesting vantage point, especially just observing the feedback
I've heard about the first program.
So my suggestion for everyone listening, if they've just started or they're getting back into it or maybe it's their second program,
is that I want really everybody to lean into it. And it's building on everything that I just, that you just heard.
What I mean by that is that coming into this program,
you've probably heard about it from somebody that's done it.
This is the most common way
that people hear about the program.
A friend said, come, I've seen this program.
But of course we're innately skeptical.
How could something that's 90 bucks,
some odd dollars really be that good?
And the overwhelming feedback is that it really is.
And the reason is that it's not just about trying to move the number on the scale.
It's all about what everything was just shared right now by these three wise women.
And I really want everyone to take away from this conversation is that if you're on the fence, if you're wondering, okay, I'm going to do it. If in my experience, if you
show up and do the program to the best of your ability, and that may be a hundred percent
perfect, that might be 80% like, like Dina mentioned, whatever you're able to do, lean into it and go all
in. And that's where the best results happen. In my experience,
that has been the number one biggest piece of feedback is in
the first couple programs, generally people have the
greatest potential to lose the most amount of weight. That
doesn't mean if you're doing this for the fifth time, you
can't lose weight. That's not what that means. That just
means that there's so much potential
early in the programs.
And so lean in and just because you fall down
and you've had an off weekend,
that does not mean that it's ruined.
I mean, this was already all said.
So I really hope that people listening to this
is that they're like, okay, you know what?
I'm taking these 91 days and I'm going to go all in as much as I can. And weight is not the only benefit to the program. And if
you're looking at this as like a health journey, rather than just a scale journey, you're going to
be blown away by all the scale and non-scale victories. Yeah. Yeah. And you know, I love that
you mentioned. It's so true.
I mean, I wish that we could just capture that for a minute.
And that's why I'm going to say, like, go back, whether you're a new member or a
returning member, listen to this piece again.
And I love that you also mentioned that so many who have actually helped are real members.
I always say what makes me a weight loss expert is actually helping real people for the last
30 years.
I wasn't in a boardroom or an office or a lab.
No disrespect to anybody who is.
Everyone plays their part.
We've come to really understand what people need in order to be successful.
Everyone has their own thing going on.
We're going to give you contact information throughout the program to be able to reach
out to our experts.
They have some fun stuff going on, like the ladies are actually doing a little seminar,
would I call it a seminar?
A little course, a little class on how to find your way through the fog.
They're doing a live workshop event.
That's what I want to say, live workshop event.
So we're going to post more information on that. And throughout the program, Dr. Beverly has her calming your anxious brain and our sleep
series and they all got stuff going on. Before we go today, what is the message for our returning
members? I know they can, they can, you know, they're going to find value in what you just
mentioned. But so anything in particular for our returning members? Who wants to, should we go the same?
Should we go Dr. Dina first?
We have three minutes.
Three minutes.
So I, in my teaching, what I try to remind students is that having a know-it-all approach
like, is just about the most boring and blocking
thing that you can do.
There's nothing more infuriating, not so much for me, for the learner.
And if we come here as open-hearted learners, what am I here to unearth?
Beginner's mind is essential.
And so if you are a returning member, where can you shine the spotlight that you haven't before?
Is it in one of the folks who comes here and is, you know, sharing from their heart?
Is it tapping into one of the different offerings or questions or prompts or provocations, Gina, that you offer? Is there somewhere that you haven't explored,
not as like some intense deep dive,
but like as a place of inquiry and curiosity?
Where can you place your curiosity,
even if or especially if it's in a subtle way
where you haven't looked before?
I know the second time I did this program for me,
it was sleep.
You know, I thought I knew what there was to know about sleep and I'm like, no, I'm
totally opening up to what Beverly and the other sleep folks come and share. And so that's
what I would say is as many days as you can, bring a beginner's mind.
I'm still learning. I do not pretend to know it all and science always is changing, though we tend to be a
bit ahead of it around here.
But I'm still learning.
I'm still learning.
I'm still learning too.
Dr. Elinka?
Oh my God.
I feel that I just want to let everybody else talk and I'm like, I'll just copy what they
say.
You know this about me. I love going last. I would say, you know, the biggest piece piggybacking also on what Dr. Dina said is that
weight loss isn't a straight path and setbacks are normal. We all know this. We hate them,
but we all know this. And, you know, in all of the research that has come out recently,
we actually know that it's not really about avoiding those setbacks, but it's actually
how you respond to them that's really important.
And it's, again, not about being perfect, but it's about being committed to that every
day into the journey and shifting that perspective
away from that all or nothing mentality
that only if the scale moves, this matters.
And what hopefully we're going to also teach you
through this journey is that, you know,
there's this fallacy also in medicine
that you get to control your weight and you don't,
you get to influence it a lot,
but you can't, there's a lot of things that control it,
that you don't have power over, right?
And so if we are unlearning all of that diet culture
and unlearning all of the things,
and we're showing up to this program with that open mind
and learning and all of these things,
I want you to embrace so much of those treasures through your day,
because we, and you know, Dr. Beverly talks about this a lot,
but your brain is constantly like thinking,
you know, we have like millions of thoughts
throughout the day and about 80% of them are negative.
And we know that, right?
And research and 95% of them are actually repetitive.
And sometimes you don't even realize these things,
but if you don't change your mindset
and if you don't stay committed to the journey
and you don't go to your start every morning,
your go-to is going to be to always look for trash
in the day rather than the treasures in the day.
And so this is what we talk about, you know,
when you show up 1% rather than being like,
oh my God, I didn't do the 99%.
It's like, I drank my water today.
And yeah, this baby didn't do what I wanted it to do.
And that's not a setback.
That is not a setback.
That is for me, like how I'm going to show up
is at 1% in the water or something like that.
And it's just how you respond to those things that will allow you to get to your end goal.
Just enjoy the journey, enjoy the process and trust them.
Okay. I mean, it's hard not to like get out of my chair and be like,
Yeah, that was good.
Okay. Okay. B.
That was very good, Linka.
Very good.
I can't even with you.
Trash, trash versus treasures.
Love it.
Love it.
Okay, what was I going to say because I got caught on that.
Okay, well done.
If you are back here, celebrate your return.
My goodness, doesn't that show a recommitment to your health
journey to your desire to grow to yourself, and that you know
that growth isn't always linear that it is going to require
stepping forward because every step is a victory. So well done.
This is testament to your dedication. Not anything else.
It is testament to you reaching
your goals and getting closer to them. So well done first of all. And that applies to anybody's
first time too. Now use this time to reflect on what you've learned. Okay past achievements,
we learn a lot from that. Like what were blocks that we noticed? Remember that you've already
overcome challenges. Probably at the age that we've all signed up, it means we have had some life happen
to us, so already draw on that and think that that same strength will help you
guide you now into this new program. Set fresh, new, personalized goals.
This is a little bit like a linker is saying, pick that thing.
You know, if I'm working with my sports teams
I might pick that 1% thing that you want to do different. Are you going to stretch more?
Are you going to start going to a massage? Whatever that is bring it into now this program
What's that extra bit that you want to do? Dina said it was sleep
She came back and she thought right I think I want to focus a little bit more on that. And lo
and behold, it opened another door for her. So there's always more, let the goals resonate with you so that it drives
you. And emphasize now the power of community. If you've been here already, you know it's powerful. Maybe you want to
participate a little bit more because this is the glue. This is one of the novel things about this group is we're all in it.
We're all sharing.
We all think we can find somebody that we resonate with and it becomes less lonely.
It's not that you're having this tiny little microwave meal or juice
all by yourself in the isolation and not telling you're doing it as a collective.
And it's so wonderful.
And I want you to remember that fundamentally,
and I wrote it down at the beginning when I was doing my homework,
want you to remember this is connection.
Instead of restricting, you are moving to reconnection.
Instead of punitive measures, you move into a positive environment.
And this is what this is.
And probably that's why you're
back because it feels so safe and and just uplifting. Check the resources, fresh eyes,
Gina will talk about this, reread, have a look through, see if you see anything just differently
this time round because maybe you've got a little bit more room because starting something can be
quite chaotic so it's like moving
to a new house, you've done the garden, but now this might be year three, you might want
to do some renovations. You might want to plant some more things. You're allowed, you're
allowed to level up and improve. And then just be kind to yourself. Be very mindful
of that internal critic, that inside bully and don't believe don't believe it if it's saying well why are you here again say because I get to be because I'd like to be um and that's that.
Paul's turn.
Yeah I love that.
I love that fresh uh fresh new personalized goals.
I love that.
All right uh Dr. Paul you're gonna shut her down round it out clean it up let's go.
I think I have about 15 seconds after that.
Again, so much wisdom here.
Thank you ladies for sharing all that.
There really isn't that much to add
that hasn't been already said.
But I think that what comes to mind is that
the difference between people going through the program the first
couple times is that it's new, it's exciting, it's fresh, it's novel, and that's just natural
because it's the first time you're going through it.
It's human nature that the first time we do something, everything is, you know, we're
curious, we're excited.
And the temptation kind of is that, you know, you still have way to lose, you still have
health goals that need to be achieved.
And so you're like, sure, I'm going to sign up again.
And all the things that were said so far is, is fighting against that kind of complacency.
I see a lot of patients that are in the program and they're like, Oh, I've done it six times.
But the pattern that is, is like each time they kind of, they're like, well, I've already
done it.
Well, I'm not really listening to Gina in the mornings anymore.
I'm not really kind of tuning in as much anymore and I want to just kind of
encourage people to look at it as if you were going through it for the first couple times and
try to reconnect with that that curiosity and that excitement because that's really I think one of the
most important ingredients on why usually people lose so much weight
in the first couple sessions,
is because they're all in and they're invested.
And that kind of dovetails with my previous comment,
is like, you know, just really fully lean in.
And that might be,
I'm gonna listen to Gina in the mornings again.
And, you know, it sounds like it's so, you know,
it's so simple and you're like,
well, I've heard that before, but that actually
is a little flag in the ground every morning to say, I'm setting my perspective and I'm
setting my intention with being mindful about this program.
So don't just mail in or coast through and really try to lean into it if you're going
through it multiple times.
And really if you still have, you know, weight to lose and you still have health goals you haven't achieved, I encourage you to really love yourself where you're at right now. Not being in love with
somebody that is 20 pounds lighter and that's my main goal. I'll be happy when I'm there. No,
try to really focus on being happy
with where you are right now.
Celebrate the victories you've already achieved
and look at this as a health journey.
Because so many people that have gone through the program,
I know that they're really making progress.
When they start coming to me and they start sharing that,
you know what, I've noticed that when I eat something,
this is the way I feel when before I didn't.
It's like I see like an awakening that's happening
through this whole process.
And that is the next level for a lot of people
is that now they're starting to connect,
not just the macros and what you're eating
and what I shouldn't eat,
is that what are the areas in your life
that you still need to level up?
Where are the areas in the health that you still need to level up? What are the areas in the health
that you really need to lean into?
And if you've been hesitant to go down those paths,
I talk about this in the obstacles, Gina,
and one of the most poignant conversations that we have
that I get a lot of feedback on Instagram
and even with my patients is like,
Dr. Paul's dropping the true serum is that,
you know, sometimes the areas you're like,
oh, I don't really wanna give up, you know, those couple drinks that I have every evening,
because like Gina says, I can still have alcohol. You might need to do that. And that's just one
example of some of the conversations that we have. And, and really showing up, even if this is your
10th program, still showing up as if it was your first with that same intensity and excitement and
curiosity.
Cause it never gets old.
I know for you all,
like it never gets old talking about what you love, right?
And like it just,
and there's always something to learn around here.
I don't want to go, it's time to go.
