Well, this is the place.
Starting point is 00:00:23 This podcast is hosted on Acast, but it's available on all podcast platforms, including the one you're listening to right now, Spotify, Apple, and Amazon Music. Acast powers the world's best podcasts. Here's a show that we recommend. Hello, I'm Faker Rothers, host of the Guardian Women's Football Weekly podcast. This week, we're discussing the start of a new dawn in Canada,
Starting point is 00:00:54 with the hotly anticipated Northern Super League kicking off. Suzy, I'm excited. Are you excited? So excited. I'm about to jump in the car, drive over to producer Sophie's house and wrestle the Canada hat off her head. Wow, that is excited. We'll be covering the Women's FA Cup in England as well as covering all the latest news in women's football. So listen to the Guardian Women's Football Weekly wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Acast helps creators launch, grow and monetize their podcasts everywhere. Acast.com. Let's get this party started. Welcome to day one of our spring summer program. Let me tell you that never gets old. This is our 25th program. I have been helping people lose weight for over 30 years. It never gets old, hence the lives. So I absolutely love going live, answering your questions and talking more in depth about the program and this process.
Starting point is 00:01:53 But before I get started, the lives are not mandatory. You do not need to watch or listen to hours and hours of me talk in order to know what you need to do or be successful when it comes to following the program. So it is most important to pay attention to those weekly guidelines. The guidelines are going to be your instructions for the program. You should find the program so easy to follow. Now if you are new there is a little bit of a learning curve. There's a lot of information. You probably had no idea what you're signing up for especially when it comes to the price. It's literally a dollar eight per day and what you're gonna get let me
Starting point is 00:02:36 tell you is just absolutely insane. First of all you're gonna have all the support that you need so you can ask as many questions as you need in the Facebook support group and get them answered by real people. Or you can use our living method app and ask a question and literally get a response within seconds. So all the support you need, we're going to be here to cheer you on when you're excited and that scale is moving or when you're frustrated or feeling down.
Starting point is 00:03:00 We're going to be here to support you every step of the way. Plus all of our incredible guest experts. We have a variety of different types of doctors. We have medical doctors, we have naturopathic doctors, we have a psychologist, learning strategist, people who specialize in menopause, people who specialize in hormones. We're going to talk about everything that you need to know in order to be successful. Now some of you are just going to fly through the program easy peasy one and done for others. It's going to take you a little bit longer. So just like any other diet you want to start
Starting point is 00:03:33 it and you kind of keep following it until you reach your goals. The living method is no different which is why we have a lot of returning members. You might only need one program to be successful where someone else has more weight to lose or for whatever reason they need to do more programs. The goal this program is to help you lose as much weight as possible in the time frame that we have. Now let me tell you it is not how perfectly you start or how quickly you start losing that adds up to success around here. It's really about being here at the end. We have 91 days. It's a lot of time to lose a lot of weight.
Starting point is 00:04:08 So let's get into it. Okay, so again, this is the daily live, Monday through Friday, I go live at 9 a.m. I will also be going live in the evening, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the first couple of weeks and then every Monday moving forward. We also have some added extra segments here and there. We're going to be talking to some of our real members in our real people, real journey segments. We're going to be doing some fun cooking segments. So we're
Starting point is 00:04:35 going to do as much as we possibly can to keep you entertained and to keep you motivated, which brings me to the two things you're going to want to do before you get started. One is understand why you are here. Why are you here? Why did you sign up? You are not going to be motivated every day to show up and do the things that you need to do. Having a really strong why will be your guiding light. When you are having a down day, when you are frustrated, when you are struggling, you're going to revisit your why. Your why is gonna remind you why you are showing up every day,
Starting point is 00:05:12 especially when things get hard, right? So your why can be your son is getting married. I saw that the next few months. Your why can be you want to be healthier. Your why can be you want to fit into your clothes. It doesn't matter what your why is, but you want to make your why as tangible as possible. So for example, if you want to be healthier, what does that mean? What's that going to look like? What's that going to feel like? You want to lose 20 pounds, you want to lose 100 pounds. What's that going to look like? What's that going to feel like? So try to make it as tangible as possible. I always use the example as healthy. Is healthy, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:49 waking up every morning and you know, feeling great, walking to your closet being everything looks great on you. Is it being able to play with your grandchildren? Is it wearing a bikini on the beach where you're running across the beach, stopping at that taco stand, eating a taco guilt free, washing it down with a beer, going on your way and not even giving it a second thought, right? So make your why tangible. The other thing that is really beneficial is to understand where you are at. A lot of people who do our program have a history of dieting.
Starting point is 00:06:22 What's your story? When did your weight issue start? What have you done? What has worked? What hasn't worked? What was happening in your life when you gained weight? What was happening in your life when you lost weight? Really get a big picture
Starting point is 00:06:36 of how you got to where you are at now. One of our guests that we're gonna have on is Dr. Dina Kara Schaefer, and she's a learning strategist. And you may be thinking, why a learning strategist? Because a big part of making change is unlearning and relearning and learning new things. And for a lot of you will be unpacking your history with dieting. You will recognize that we do things a lot different around here.
Starting point is 00:07:01 You may have a lot of questions. You may be unsure. Stick with us. You're in good hands. The Living Method is a proven program. And I mean proven because it's been researched. It's been studied. We have a team at the University of Ottawa who actually received government funding a few years ago to study the Living Method. We've been to the Canadian obesity conferences. In fact, we're going to have some of the brightest minds in obesity research join us here in the group. We're going to have Sean Wharton join us. We're going to have Sandy Vann come on and talk about GLP-1. So the Living Method is a GLP-1 friendly program. So if you're taking GLP-1s, we got you. We're here for you. And this is exactly the kind
Starting point is 00:07:41 of program that you want to be doing. Because not only do you want to lose your weight, but you want to lose it in a way that makes you healthier physically, mentally, and in a way you're going to be able to maintain and sustain. We have Sandra Elliott coming back. She is a food addiction expert. So we are going to get into it. You're going to realize that the living method is so much more than what you are eating and when we're getting getting into issues and associations tied into your weight and your weight journey. We're going to get into habits, how to work through old habits, create new ones. We're going to work through beliefs, beliefs that you can do this, that you can lose that weight and
Starting point is 00:08:15 you keep can keep it off beliefs that you are worthy of taking the time to do this. And some people will be working through some past traumas that are going to be tied into their weights and their weight journey. And that's where we have someone like Dr. Beverly David, a clinical psychologist, that's going to come in and join us. So it's not just me. And what's going to be so great about our guest experts is that they're going to know exactly what you're doing and where you're at in the program.
Starting point is 00:08:41 So you're going to get this really hyper focused advice and they're gonna share their knowledge, which is honestly just gonna blow your mind. It's a really cool, super cool program. Make yourself comfortable. You're in the Facebook support group. It's a great place to be. It's where you can connect with our community.
Starting point is 00:08:58 We have the best community. This is a safe place for you to show up every day and work towards achieving your weight loss goals. It's also where you'll find our program specialists, so very real people that are going to answer any questions that you have. You can ask as many as you need. You ask a question, usually get a response within a few minutes to upwards of an hour. Usually we don't go any longer than an hour for response time. Once we respond, Facebook will give you a notification
Starting point is 00:09:26 and then you can pop into the group, review that and then ask any follow-up questions. Of course, the Livvy Method app, if you're not using it, you should. It's so easy to use. It's not just a tracker. It will actually guide you through the program. You can access all the information
Starting point is 00:09:43 and there's a really cool AI feature where you can open up your app, ask a question and literally within seconds, get a response. We also have our books. So there is a written version. So our Libby Method program guide is available on Amazon. You don't need it. But if you like to highlight and make notes, so all the all the posts are in here. Any new and updated posts can be found in the group. There is some recipes, some the science behind
Starting point is 00:10:12 the program. If you like to highlight and you learn best by making notes, then this can be a great resource for you. All the same information in the Facebook support group and in the app as well. And then of course, we have our living method journal. If you like to put pen to paper, it also guides you through the program in a sense of it's more of a tracker. It doesn't obviously contain all the information of the program but there's lots of space to you know track all the things that you want to track. So that's also available to Amazon near you. A lot of resources including this live every day which will also be turned into a podcast. So if you search the Living Method podcast on all podcast platforms, you can download and listen to any of the lives that you might have
Starting point is 00:10:52 missed. So you do not need to use all the resources. You can be just in the Facebook support group. You can just use the app. You no longer need Facebook in order to use the app. You can use both. Obviously, they complement each other. You can use the books. You to use the app. You can use both. Obviously they compliment each other. You can use the books, you can use the journal, you can use your own journal, download the podcast. All of that is not meant to overwhelm you. It is because that we understand people learn differently. So find what works best for you.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Everyone is a little different. Again, there's gonna be a lot of information, a lot of things that we're gonna talk about. Some of it's gonna be more relevant than others to you. The most important thing that you need to do today, especially, is read over the prep week guidelines. Your guidelines are gonna be your instructions for the week. So with the living method, we don't count,
Starting point is 00:11:39 we don't weigh, we don't measure, but we have our own method for sustainable weight loss. And I basically created an algorithm for sustainable weight loss. And so you want to follow the guidelines or the instructions each week. So that's the thing you absolutely want to make sure that you're reviewing. Every Sunday, the last week, last day of the week is when we post the guidelines. So this week, prep week, it's all about reviewing the food plan. If you're new to the program, take your time, read it over, run out and grab anything that you need, start asking questions and then start making
Starting point is 00:12:08 the changes that you need to make. If you are a returning member it is the same amazing program but you have changed. You've changed physically, you have changed mentally, you're bringing everything you've learned into previous programs forward from the get. You're going to start maximizing. You're going to start asking those four mindful eating questions. You're going to start doing all the things that you can to be as proactive as possible. Someone today asked a great question and they're like, well, if at the end of the program I was personalizing and getting really in tune to my body's needs, what is the benefit of redoing the program? The program works just as well every time. Remember, it's the systematic nature of the program. It's the method itself that really helps get
Starting point is 00:12:50 and keep that scale moving. Now, what can be expected in terms of weight loss about one to two pounds a week is amazing. Some people are gonna start losing in the beginning. If you're not losing in the beginning, that's okay. Your body's working hard on making change. And then when the people who are losing now, they'll get on a plateau.
Starting point is 00:13:08 You want and need plateaus. We'll get into that later. And then you will start seeing your weight drop. Most people, 93% of people see their weight start dropping within the first four weeks of the program. You're going to notice weight loss on the Libby method looks different than any other diet you've done because we're not into weight loss, we're into fat loss.
Starting point is 00:13:28 So the first step of the program is give the body what it needs so it no longer feels need to store fat. Then it's about helping the body focus on fat loss, the middle part of the program, and then in the end supporting the body and its needs. So it's great if the scale starts moving for you in the first week of the program. If it doesn't't that is absolutely Nothing to worry about how quickly or how much you lose in the beginning zero indication of how successful you're going to be But if you're returning member, it's all about resetting with those first few weeks, but you're not just
Starting point is 00:13:56 Resetting haphazardly. You are also maximizing right? You're being as consistent as possible You're doing all the things that you can. So every time you do the program, it's going to be just as effective when it comes to portions this week, all about what they feel like and not about what they look like. So that's really important. A lot of our new members, you might have questions about the food plan, really just follow it exactly as designed. You will notice when you start making the changes, you'll start to notice your body changing and adapting to the food plan. A lot of what we're saying is gonna start making sense. Really important that you eat all your meals and snacks.
Starting point is 00:14:33 You keep the same order of the meals and snacks. There's a rhyme and a reason to everything that we do around here. And we are always thinking big picture. So we're always assuming you're gonna lose your weight and we're all about big picture. We want you to not just lose your weight, we want you to be able to maintain it and sustain it. Alright, feeling discouraged, lost count at which group this is. I keep gaining everything back.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Okay, parm, let's talk about this. You will also notice we got really real around here, right? We're gonna tell it like it is. We're gonna get right into it. So laws count at which group it is. Who the fuck cares what group it is? You're here now today, right? Now you could go back and say, what's going on with me? If you are gaining weight back,
Starting point is 00:15:18 chances are it's because you are falling back into old habits. There are three reasons why people gain weight back. One, they don't put time into solidifying their weight, which is why we have a whole maintenance program. And we're gonna tell you everything that you need to know about maintaining your weight at the end of the program. We want you to lose and we want you to maintain.
Starting point is 00:15:36 In fact, we want you to walk away and never look back and never have to give us one more cent, right? We're not looking to how can we retain members. We truly want you to lose your weight in a way that you can move on. Like we are here for you. We want you to be successful, right? So not putting time into solidifying your weight.
Starting point is 00:15:56 Two, situational change and not adapting. You lose weight at home and then all of a sudden you go back to work and your whole routine changes. You, your stress levels are higher, maybe you're doing shift work, your sleep is changing. You are not adapting to that, right? Situational change can also be, God forbid someone passing away,
Starting point is 00:16:17 getting fired from your job, moving, anything that kind of like shocks you in your life and you don't adapt to that. Number three is not being mindful, right? Like you can't, you don't gain your weight back and not notice. So a big part of the living method is awareness, getting in tune to your body's needs.
Starting point is 00:16:33 It's acquiring the skills and the tools that you need to not just lose weight, but to be able to maintain and sustain your weight. So you know what you didn't do today? You didn't ask a question. You showed up, you're like feeling discouraged. It's day fucking one of the program and you're discouraged already.
Starting point is 00:16:47 You need to check yourself. That's, you're not gonna be successful. That's not the kind of energy that you wanna start the day with. Now, is it valid? Absolutely. So take a minute and say, why am I feeling discouraged? It's day one of this program.
Starting point is 00:17:02 It works, you know it works. If you've done the program, you've seen the success stories, you've listened to the guest experts, I'm not here to blow smoke up your ass. You know I'm going to give you the real deal. Right? So say to yourself, what is it that I'm frustrated about? Am I frustrated because I've been trying to lose weight for so long? Yeah, that's frustrating. Right? That's bringing your baggage from your past. Right? You're going to have to unpack that. Right? You're frustrated because you keep gaining it back. Why? Because does shit keep happening in your life? Have you just been in like season after season of like,
Starting point is 00:17:33 and I get it, right? So you guys know those of you who are returning members, I've just been through it these last couple of years. My kids dad died. That was huge. I have four kids. Their dad died. If you can't imagine, that was just the worst thing ever. I went through menopause. So I thought I was going fucking crazy. Frozen shoulder, vertigo, losing my mind, heart palpitations. That situational change. Things are changing for me. There's a lot going on. Stress with business, the economy, everything that's happening. Very stressful. Been through it the last couple years and my weight went up, right? And then I had to like really like rein it in.
Starting point is 00:18:11 And so I lost my weight over 100 pounds over 30 years ago. Has my weight fluctuated? Absolutely. There has been times in my life that are really stressful. Other times in my life that everything is easy peasy and sunshine and rainbows. But it's not about what's going on when life is sunshine and rainbows. It's showing up for yourself when shit is hitting the fan and life is hard. And that's going to happen to a lot of people on the program. It's about knowing what you need to do. Right? So this is where you got to unpack that. And
Starting point is 00:18:38 then you got to start asking questions, right? This is not the way you're going to start. This is like if you're a kid and you failed. So let's say my kids, right? They were in school, their dad died, they failed some classes, obviously, right? Hard to focus, weren't showing up. So that was, you know, I have one kid who's still trying to get through high school. She's way behind. Pandemic, right?
Starting point is 00:19:02 Kids during the pandemic, some kids did really well learning at home, some did not. Some are still suffering. But does that mean that we don't go to school? Does that mean I say to my kids, like, well, I'm really frustrated. I failed these classes and I'm having a hard time. And I don't say, well, fuck it. Right? You just get to not go to school. You're like, okay, let's figure out what you need.
Starting point is 00:19:20 What you need to do. What you need to work through. Right? Why you're having a hard time. And this is no different. So learning to lose weight is just more than just doing a diet. It's figuring out where you're at. How did you get here? Right?
Starting point is 00:19:34 So how did you get here? Now, I'm not just talking to Parm. I'm talking to everybody. How did you land here today? Whether you're a new member, returning member, what's your deal? What's your story? What do you need? Right, you know yourself best.
Starting point is 00:19:47 You are going to become an expert in your weight journey. And now we're gonna bring in experts and I'm gonna be here to guide you every step of the way. But it's all about what is it? What is it about struggle, frustration? Some of you are nervous, some of you are overwhelmed. What are you overwhelmed with? Are you overwhelmed because you're trying to do everything all on one day?
Starting point is 00:20:06 Are you overwhelmed because you're an all or nothing person? Are you afraid of failure? You've done all the diets. You cannot stomach this being another diet that's not going to work for you. We're going to make sure it works for you. Are you afraid of failure? What if you do lose your weight and then you just can't stomach gaining it all back plus more?
Starting point is 00:20:26 That's not going to happen. We're going to teach you everything that you need. Right? So we got you. So there's going to be a lot of fields. Here's what I can tell you. Any thoughts that you are having, any feels that you are having are all part of the program piece.
Starting point is 00:20:41 And they will give you great insight into the things that you need to do and work through because following the food plan, yeah, the program works really great for A type people. You follow rules, follow the program, do exactly what we say, you're going to lose weight. But it's so much more than that. It's so much more than that. Let's take a minute out to hear from our podcast sponsor today. I mean, listen, we're always talking about how important it is to take care of your skin. Your skin is your body's largest organ.
Starting point is 00:21:07 We also talk about the importance of creating routines, especially a nighttime routine that can help us sleep. But this one here is for the new moms because Aveeno has a product for newborn babies. Skin is the first line of defense and baby skin is about 30% thinner than our mature skin, making it even more important to take action to help strengthen skin moisture barrier. So using the power of oats as the hero ingredient, Avino Baby harnesses the power of oat to help achieve skin hydration. So if you're looking to learn more about how you can maintain and strengthen your baby's skincare, head over to the website avino.ca. That's A-V-E-E-N-O dot C-A. ACAS powers the world's best podcasts. Here's a show that we recommend.
Starting point is 00:22:00 Hi there, I'm Jeff Merrick. Now, I've covered hockey for over 30 years and pretty much loved it my whole life. The now, the history, the future, all of it. And I've seen a lot, but I still find things that surprise and interest me. And nothing is too trivial. Right producer Zach Phillips? That's correct. From the big stories that shape the game to the tiny things that color it all in, tune into my show, The Sheet, daily at 3pm Eastern.
Starting point is 00:22:27 That's where it all gets discussed as we try to tell you something you didn't know every single day. That's our challenge. The Sheet is available on YouTube on the daily face-off channel or wherever you stream your podcasts. ACAST helps creators launch, grow and monetize their podcasts everywhere. ACAST.com Here's Tracy. I didn't lose any weight week two to five and I ended up losing 15 pounds in my first
Starting point is 00:22:58 program. So have faith. Yeah. So what have I started the conversation with today? Right? Someone who's frustrated and someone who didn't lose any weight in the first few weeks of the program. So how can I do that?
Starting point is 00:23:09 Because the Living Method works. I'm very confident in our ability to help you reach your goals, but you got to do your part, right? You got to show up, you got to follow the guidelines, you got to ask the questions, you got to get real, right? You got to get real with yourself. So we're going to we're going to get into it. We're going to get into it. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. How often are we supposed to weigh ourselves once a week? Okay, let's get right into it today.
Starting point is 00:23:35 Every day, every day. And I know some of you are freaking the fuck out. Also, I swear. So please try if you're not into swearing, please try to look past that. I do my best to not swear. It's kind of just part of who I am. You may not like me, but I'm gonna be your number one cheerleader and I'm gonna be here for you. And I will do everything I can to make sure that I help you.
Starting point is 00:23:59 So if you can look past that and really see the passion that I have to help you, and that's just part of my, it's part of my love language they say people who swear are honest people you're gonna weigh yourself every day now this might be terrifying to some of you and if you're not ready to get on the scale you don't have to so we're gonna talk about that this week we're gonna have a whole post we got a post for everything around here so just stick with us. Either weigh yourself every day to use the scale as a tool that it is or don't use
Starting point is 00:24:30 it at all. So every day or don't use it at all. You can take measurements, you can go by how you feel, by how your clothes fit. Once a week doesn't tell you anything and you can have the best week and even have your weight be dropping and then right the day before you're about to weigh yourself you do a workout tell you anything. And you can have the best week and even have your weight be dropping. And then right the day before you're about to weigh yourself, you do a workout and then you wake up with sore muscles that can have your weight up. You can have salty food that can have your weight up. You can have a crappy sleep that can have your weight up. When you weigh yourself every day, you're going to understand that your weight is always fluctuating. Your lowest low is always your low. A drop is always a drop. When your weight goes up while you're
Starting point is 00:25:09 following the program, it's always superficial. It's not real weight gain. There's gonna be a lot of fluctuations. Your weight fluctuates for a variety of reasons and we're gonna talk about that. What you want to do by weighing yourself every day is pick up on your body's pattern of behavior. So is it normal for the scale to go up right before it drops, which is pretty normal for that to happen as the body's retaining water, as it's about to detox and release fat. And you want to pick up on what weight loss looks like to you. Do you drop in little bits every day and have little plateaus in between, or do you drop
Starting point is 00:25:43 in what seems like bigger chunks and then have longer plateaus? Right, so the scale will really help you figure out what weight loss, fat loss, because we're really after fat loss, not just weight loss. Fat loss looks like and then what it feels like when the scale is dropping. What do you feel like right before your weight is about to drop? What do you feel like when your weight is dropping? Because when your body releases fat, what fills your fat cells is full of toxins So you're not losing fat cells or gaining fat cells when you gain or lose weight It's what fills your fat cells and so when your body releases fat What fills that fat cells is being released and that can make you feel kind of and kind of ass we're going to talk about
Starting point is 00:26:20 Detox symptoms now. We're not making the body detox We're piggybacking the same metabolic process that your body uses to lose weight But there's a big difference between forcing your body to burn fat So if you force your body to burn fat you starve you deprive yourself you give your body no choice But to use its fat reserves you will lose weight But then at the same time you are reinforcing the fact that your body needs that fat your body's like holy shit We just had to use all this fat. We've been starving.
Starting point is 00:26:46 First chance it gets, it starts storing that weight right back on. And this is why the living method is all based on set point. The weight that your body has come accustomed to function that. Not where it's happy, but where it feels like it needs. And so it's all about giving the body what it needs
Starting point is 00:27:01 so it no longer feels the need to store fat. Your body doesn't want this fat any more than you do. So back to the scale. You don't have to use the scale at all, but weighing once a week, that'll just be maddening. It's not telling you anything. So use it every single day as a tool or don't use it at all is my advice.
Starting point is 00:27:19 We have a poll post, we're gonna talk about that in the days and weeks to come. We have a lot we're gonna talk about. So this is a beauty of having, obviously in the Facebook support group, we roll out the post day by day by day in digestible chunks, right? Cause we can't just like throw 500 posts at you
Starting point is 00:27:35 and say, there you go. But all the information is in the book. So this is one great way. You don't wanna be skipping ahead. You wanna follow the program exactly as designed, but there's a lot of information in here. In the Welcome Guide, so how we organize everything in the Facebook Support Group is by guides. There's a Welcome Guide that has a program index that talks about all the things we're going to talk about and cover, but also in your app. So if you
Starting point is 00:27:59 go into your app, I haven't opened my app up yet today. If you'll notice, if you haven't updated your app, make sure you update your app. We've added a few changes to the program. So here's today. So if you're using the Living Method app, you go into it, it's day one. There's today's post. So that's where you can find out all the posts that you want to review today. Also listen to the check-in video. But if you go to the guides down at the bottom, whoops, that's the journey. So if you go to the guides down at the bottom, whoops, that's the journey. So if you go to the guides down at the bottom, you can see the food plan is there. You can see the daily lives.
Starting point is 00:28:30 That's where the daily lives are gonna be stored, any guest experts, but there's also the weekly guides. So this is prep week. So you can go in here and all the information is here as well. So you wanna make sure you're reviewing all the information and using the app makes it really easy to do that. Do, do, do, do. I love you're reviewing all the information and using the app makes it really easy to do that. Um, do, do, do, do.
Starting point is 00:28:48 I love you. I love the program. I just suck. No, you don't. No, you don't. Weight loss is hard. Weight loss is hard because we use food for so many things. We use food to survive.
Starting point is 00:29:00 Right? We use food. We need food. We use food to celebrate. Right? Oh, I got a promotion. I got this. Let's go celebrate. Let's eat. We use food to show love. I've baked you some muffins. I baked you a cake. We use food to bond over at dinnertime socially. We use food for so many things. So this is going to be all about reconnecting with food in a variety of different ways. And a lot of you will realize your past is very much still factoring in to your weight
Starting point is 00:29:30 loss journey. How you've been raised, you have been raised to just clear your plate. You're going to sit at that table until you eat all of your food. Right? Hi, mom, I'm hungry. You can wait. Dinner's in two hours. We have been taught to disconnect.
Starting point is 00:29:44 Right? Not eating when we're hungry, not sleeping when we're tired, not drinking when we're dinners in two hours. We have been taught to disconnect, right? Not eating when we're hungry, not sleeping when we're tired, not drinking when we're thirsty. And this program is all about reconnecting with food in a whole new way. So at the end of the program, at the end of your weight loss journey,
Starting point is 00:29:57 you're gonna be able to wake up, look good, feel good, just go about your day, trusting yourself, trusting when to eat, what to eat, how much to eat. And that's what this is about. The way you lose weight, the skills and the tools you require are going to help you be able to maintain your weight. What you're doing and what you're working through while you're maintaining your weight, learning to accept the new you, reinforcing your new habits, right? There's a lot to it will help you when it comes to that third stage of the living method, which is live your life. Our goal is to help you lose weight in a way that this is truly the last diet that you ever do, right?
Starting point is 00:30:29 So this is gonna be a lot about figuring out what you need and you don't suck. You know, I was at the women's show in the fall, the national women's show here in Toronto. And we're all over the world, by the way. We're all over the world. We're in like 55 different countries. And I met so many members who are like, oh, I did the last program and I suck or I screwed
Starting point is 00:30:51 up or I failed. And I was like, no, no, no, no, no. What was going on in your life? And everyone had a story. Everyone's like, oh, this happened and that happened, whatever. So you're trying to lose weight while life is happening. Right? happen and that happened whatever so you're trying to lose weight while life is happening right so this isn't about changing your life or fitting the program into your life it's figuring out what you need to do to continue to show
Starting point is 00:31:13 up to do the things that you need to do that's gonna help you reach your goal and it's about having as many choices each day fall in line with your goal some days you're gonna feel like a rock star and some days you're gonna be hanging on by the skin of your teeth and like I like to say, try not to eat chips and drink wine for breakfast, right? Like that's, we have to really normalize that. And so it's about meeting yourself where you're at every day. This is why journaling can be very helpful.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Creating a routine, checking into the group every day, watching the check in video, opening up your app each day, logging the things you need to log, journaling, whether it's in our Libby Method journal or putting pen to paper. I'm a big fan of setting intentions each morning. So you'll notice a lot of our returning members do that. Well they will use that post pinned to the top of the page. Every morning they'll be like, hi, good morning. This is what I'm going to focus on today. What that does is remind you that hey
Starting point is 00:32:06 I'm working on this These are the things I want to bring to the forefront of your mind and then the end-of-day reflections at the end of the day Right. How did I do today? What are the things I did really? Well, what are the things that I didn't do so well and one of the things you're going to learn about is the way that We speak to ourselves. What's happening internally in our mind? You know, what should I eat this shouldn't I eat that you had it why to eat this? Oh my god. I'm a loser I'm never gonna lose weight. I suck. I'm horrible Right like that's not how you would talk to your friend So if your best friend was signing up to the program with you and they said, oh, I'm suck You would say you're not you don't suck
Starting point is 00:32:41 Life has been shit for you for a while. Things have been hard for you. You're amazing. Look what you've been through. Look where you're at. You're still here. Right? If you perceive that you have failed all the diets, you have failed time and time again, you have not. If you are here today, you have not given up on yourself. The diet industry sucks. Okay? That's really important to understand. The diet industry has let you down. Sure, you have lost weight. Those diets that you have done were never designed to help you maintain and sustain your weight.
Starting point is 00:33:12 And that's my goal. I have lived my life for over 30 years maintaining an over 120 pound weight loss. And I'm here to teach you to do the same. It can be done. You will do it. It's this a matter of showing up and if you really show up with grace and Patience and understanding for yourself this that's how you lose as much weight as quickly as possible It's not trying to eat less and exercise more
Starting point is 00:33:39 It's really understanding where you're at each day and what you need day to day and show up on a day to day basis. We're gonna have a lot to talk about. We're gonna have a lot to cover. The best way to do the program is to show up day by day. Some days are gonna be amazing. Some days not so much, they all count. So before I go today, you know, there are gonna be days, weeks, off days, I like to say it,
Starting point is 00:34:03 fuck this shit days, vacays, holidays, there are gonna be times where you might not be able to follow the program. It's just best to do the best you possibly can. Like I said, every day counts and just keep moving forward. If at any time there is a time where you cannot follow the program, you can just simply pick up from where you left off. What I love about the living method
Starting point is 00:34:22 is there's no start again. We've started today and you just keep moving forward. There's two analogies I like to use. One is on the road to finally and forever. So everyone started today. We all got in our cars and we hit the road and we're going to Disneyland, right? Some people are driving fancy sports cars. Some people are driving more beat up older cars, some people are going to drive straight there, some people are going to decide to take their time, they're going to go sightseeing along the way, some people are going to get flat tires, some people are going to get detours and roadblocks, but as you go sightseeing, as you hit detours,
Starting point is 00:35:03 roadblocks, what you don't do is go back home and start again. You get a flat tire, you change the tire, you get back on the road. So it's all about just keep moving towards that destination. I also love the analogy of the house. So today you signed up, right? We've given you a plot of land to build your house, and each week we're gonna give you the tools
Starting point is 00:35:24 that you need to build your house. So this week it's all about getting yourself organized By getting your tools organized and starting to build the foundation of your house Right. So your job is to show up every day and work towards building your house Some days you're gonna be more productive than others Sometimes you're gonna have to step away from the house. Maybe go away for the weekend. Maybe you go away on vacation. Maybe something happens. When you come back, you don't knock your house down and start again, right?
Starting point is 00:35:50 You just pick up those tools and get back to building your house. So that's really what it's all about. You will be amazed by at the end of the program, the small things you do are gonna add up and make a big, massive difference. Now, I gotta go. I know today you probably had a lot of questions. Don't stop asking your questions. As we progress throughout the
Starting point is 00:36:07 program I'm gonna get a lot quicker at answering some of the questions that you have when it comes to following the program. If you have any questions that I didn't answer today just pop them over on the top of the page. You'll see the check-in video. The team will answer any questions that you have there or any of our other posts. So the lives are the one place or what happens on the lives days on the lives. It's the one place where we don't come in
Starting point is 00:36:30 and provide written responses. But again, if you have a question, just put it over on any of the posts and our team will get to it over there. Have a great first day. I'm gonna be back tonight at 7 p.m. Again, you do not have to watch any of the lives. They are not mandatory.
Starting point is 00:36:44 You don't have to watch the morning and the night, but I'm gonna be back tonight. Again, talking more about the program. You're welcome to join me there. Remember that this live will be available as a podcast each day. So if you wanna download and listen while you're driving or out for a walk, you can totally do that.
Starting point is 00:37:01 You probably have a lot of questions about exercise. You know, we're of questions about exercise. You know, we're going to talk about exercise. We're going to talk about anything and everything. If you have any health issues, we're going to talk about those. If you have diabetes, thyroid issues, no worries, the program is going to work for you. If you're going through menopause, any stage of menopause program is going to work great for you. We're going to talk a lot about hormones because hormones are for everybody. We're going to talk a lot about hormones because hormones are for everybody. We're going to get really deep into it. We have a lot to talk about. So welcome to the first day, all of our new members.
