Hello, hello, hello. Happy day 59 of the program. Okay, so first of all, you got any questions,
hit me up. Let's get rolling on them today. Tomorrow, we're about to start splitting up
those meals and snacks one more time. So if you want to join Kim and myself, we're going to break down the tweak this week today, 12 PM. If you're listening by way of
podcast, it'll be available shortly after, or of course we always store all of our segments
in the guides. Even if this is your like 16th program, there's so much to learn. I'm learning
every time I do a program. There's literally, I am still learning.
The way and what we've learned, we build into these conversations. So it's not a surface level, just kind of review the guidelines.
It's really about getting into the tweak, the rhyme, the reason behind it and whatnot.
So if you want to join us today, I would love to see you there.
Okay.
So we are eight weeks in. Next week, week nine, you would love to see you there. Okay, so we are eight weeks in next week,
week nine, you're gonna love the tweak. If you're new to the program, it's such a great tweak. It's
where we start to get even more in tune to our body's needs, we start to actually revamp the
food plan itself, you got a bit more flexibility in there. That's also something that we're going
to be talking about with the tweak this week. Today, I had a great
conversation yesterday with Andrea Overhoff. She was my spill the tea guest. I've been following
her on Instagram for a while. She is like the epitome of transformation. She has been working
out alongside with following the program and the way her body has transformed. It's just it's so
healthy. I don't know how else to explain it. She just, she's
glowing. She looks healthy. You know, she's someone who has struggled with her weight. She's
trying to lose weight since she was 20 years old. She's done all the diets, counting calories,
macros and whatnot. I was really interesting to talk to her about the way it's all come together
for her. And one of the big takeaways is,
you know, she sure she had her struggles, but the most part she found the program to be pretty easy.
And I think that's an important perspective because I tend to personally focus on people
who are having a hard time. I fixate and obsess over people who are having a hard time as does
my team. So what you guys don't know is if we do have a member who's struggling, what we do is kind of collaborate on the information. We make sure that they're
getting the information that they need. I mean, I have lost sleep over some of our members trying
to figure out what's going on. But for the most part, most people we hear at the end of the program
are like, yeah, it was easy. Never needed to ask a question. I'm good. Got this. And I think
that's important to point out because I know that there are a lot of you who do listen and show up
every day and you're like, hey, I'm having a great time over here. And you want to celebrate that.
And that's okay. We want to celebrate everybody. We also want to be there. Yes, when people are
struggling, but I think we can do both at the same time. All right, let's get into your questions today and see where you guys are at.
Good morning, good morning, good morning.
Day 59, and I think I'm getting the hang of this.
It's a lot, right?
It's a lot.
It's because we are legit trying to rewire how your body has come to function and rewire
your brain along with it.
And there's a lot of working parts to that,
working through your issues and associations,
working through habits, working through coping,
working through beliefs.
My gosh, there's so much to it.
Can we actually just talk about our conversation
with Dr. Paul yesterday too?
I love our conversations with our guests
because they're never what you think they're going to be
because they're always so much deeper than that. So many good tidbits and takeaways. We talked about weight loss and anxiety because,
you know, I had that conversation with Kyle last Friday. So of course, I took the opportunity to
talk to Dr. Paul about how he viewed anxiety and how it factored into someone's weight loss journey.
We also talked about happiness. We talked about being mindful and having the proper mindset and how important that was. We talked about the
difference between, you know, what's happening here in North America, you know, obesity rates
climbing, climbing, climbing versus what's happening in Europe when they're over there,
you know, eating pasta and drinking wine. We talked, of course, about stress. We
talked about a lot of things, really interesting conversations. If you have yet to take the
opportunity to listen, I highly suggest that you do. The plan itself is easy, but we make it hard
on ourselves. Oh my gosh, isn't that it? Isn't that it? This was exactly my thought this morning.
I mean, listen, for some people, it is incredibly frustrating because they got an inflammation, they're dealing with hormones, they've got gut
issues. You know, they actually have health issues that are factoring in that can be incredibly
frustrating. Life can make it incredibly frustrating. But we do we sometimes we have to
get out of our own way. Sometimes it's the the mindset we are showing up with and how we're internalizing
our journey, right? Like if you were to look at a friend who was on your journey, what are some of
the things that you would say to them? You wouldn't say half the shit to them that you say to yourself,
right? It's so true, especially when we have this sense of like we've done diets before and
maybe we perceive that we failed because here we are 20 years later still trying to lose
the weight.
Again, it's not you who failed.
It's the diets failed you.
Those diets were never going to work in terms of you being able to sustain and maintain
your weight.
Look at the effort it takes and the work you need to do and the conversations you need
to have in order to get to a place where
you are calm around food, you know, to get to a place where you're able to easily maintain and
sustain your weight. Plus quick fixes never worked because just physically losing weight that quickly
is not sustainable for the body. But yeah, I totally agree. We make it hard on ourselves.
We make it hard. We overthink, we overstress, we overcomplicate things.
It's so normal. It is. It's so true. Hi, Jan. Love listening to Spill the Tea and Andrea's story.
You asked her a question about recovery after workouts that I was so hoping for. Yeah. So I
took note. I do take note of the questions that you guys want me to ask our guests, and I do take
the opportunity when I can to ask
them. I also talked to Dr. Paul about this as well in terms of like stress in general and how long
it can take your body to calm down from any stress and sort of what the timeline is for that. Of
course, it's individual for everybody, but tends to take a lot longer than what you think. A lot
longer than what you think. I want to keep the
momentum going during the break. So I want to start another round. This current round is my
fourth round. Should I start the program again from the beginning or because I've been addressing
my body's needs, should I start on a different week? So we are going to, I have a better option
for you, right? But you obviously, you know that option, personalizing the plan. And so you want
to do another round on your own.
So you want to start from beginning to end.
If you just kind of pick the weeks that you perceived work for you, it doesn't really
work because they worked based on, weight loss is based on momentum and also where your
body was at at the time.
And so when you start the process again, it's like bringing a whole new body into the process.
There's a rhyme and a reason behind that reset again in the first few weeks of the program.
So you don't want to pick and choose and be like, oh, well, this worked for me.
So I'm going to start there or, you know.
So if you're going to do a reset on your own, you want to start from the beginning and go all the way through.
Now, obviously, if you've signed up for the fall program, you're not going to be able to get in 91 days of the program. So you would start from the beginning. I mean, you could skip prep
week. You could skip prep week if you want, though I think you should still do put 91 days in.
But same, same. It'd be kind of no different than if someone started the program a week later,
which we do all the time anyway. And then you want to take it as far as you can get. And then you want to reset with the fall program fresh again. So that would be my option. But I
don't like talking about this because we're going to have, we still have five weeks up to the
program. I'm happy that you ask. I'm happy to answer. I don't like talking about the end of
the program until we actually get to the end of the program, because I think we put enough pressure
on ourselves given the time that we have or we don't have. Like for example, if you did sign up for the fall, you have the same
amount of time right now as you would in between groups to start another round of the program
before the fall program starts, right? So I would just really focus on where you're at today. But of
course, I appreciate you asking. My goal is to be a Spill the Tea guest in the future. Ashley,
reach out. We'd be happy to have you. And you don't have to wait. You know, to be a spill the tea guest doesn't
mean that you have to have been successful, lost all your weight, any of those things. We're happy
to have conversations with people regardless of where they're at. So reach out. You can send a
message to my team weightloss at GinaLivie.com. And we would be happy to have you on. Down 18
pounds, but my mental health has improved
so much.
Yeah.
I love hearing that.
I was thinking about that this morning.
Um, I was thinking about, you know, this program and my team.
So we do things behind the scenes to help our team, um, with their sort of mental health.
It's hard.
It's a, it's a lot when you're coming into a program, everyone on my team is someone
who really has been through the journey themselves and who has really signed up with us. it's a, it's a lot when you're coming into a program, everyone on my team is someone who
really has been through the journey themselves and who has really signed up with us to work with us
because they wanted to help other people. And it can get heavy sometimes. I know you guys are just
in on your own journey and we love that. Um, but you know, a lot of times like, because my team
does care so much, it is, uh, it's a tough job sometimes, you know,
it's a tough job because they really are here to support you. Um, the world is incredibly difficult
right now. There's a lot of stress going on. We again, talked about mental health. We talked
about stress. We talked about anxiety with Dr. Paul yesterday too. I think sometimes because
we're in like survival mode that we don't really recognize the stress that we are under. And that was a big takeaway from the conversation. Just prioritizing yourself,
just being in tune to your body's needs is like, that's like, to me is such a huge non-scale
victory. So I love hearing that. Feeling anxious about the tweak this week. I'm away from home for
a few days and it's not easy to split the meals and stuff. It's not, it's not easy. It's not easy. That's it. Drop the mic. It's not easy.
Anything we're, a lot of things we're doing in life are not easy. It's not that it's not easy.
It's actually quite simple, right? You just take the same meals that you've been preparing today
and you split them in two. It's actually that simple. What makes it difficult is life. Life makes it difficult. If you're going
to be out and about or whatever, that's what makes it difficult, right? Not the tweak itself
is actually quite simple. Separating your meals and snacks into two to help you get even more
in tune to those portions, right? And approach it from a different
angle, but life definitely makes it inconvenient for us. Here's what I want you to know.
Just following the basic food plan, you are doing a lot. If you couldn't split up any of the meals
and snacks, you should still expect the scale to move. I mean, obviously it's not going to move
every single day, every single week, whatever, but you should show up like you're expecting it to move. Like the work that you
are doing is going to factor into you reaching your goal. So don't stress. If you can't split
up your meals and snacks from whatever, just following the basic food plan, asking those four
questions, you know, focusing on trying to get your water in, being consistent, you know, trying
to get to sleep, just kind of all of the things that you're doing. There's so many things. It's like you guys are, it's like every week you pick up
balls and you got all these balls in the air. And at some point, some of the balls are going to drop.
It's no big deal. It's no big deal. It's just kind of how it is. And so there are other days
where you're going to be a better juggler than other days, you know, um, feeling better today. Hi, Liz. Any day my cat will be home. Uh, hubby
had her cremated for me. I'm so sorry to hear this non-scale victory last night. I was going
to have chips and dip, but I decided to wait until the weekend and have a movie night with hubby.
I've never walked away from chips and dip. Same girl. Same. You know, I love my chippies. I love
my chippies. Um, you know, and I love that making a plan, right? Like making
a plan like this is when I was growing up. We didn't have like chips, you know, every night.
I think you had them like on a Friday night or something. Like you had that when you were
watching a movie or when it was a special occasion. Now we just buy them and we're like,
oh, it's a Tuesday at seven o'clock. Let me eat some chips. I mean, listen, you should be able
to have them whenever
you want to have them. Whether you have more on a Friday or have a couple throughout the day,
every day. I mean, I don't know that it's any different, but at the same time, yeah. I mean,
it's about last night. Why did you want them? Was it a coping thing or did you actually want
to enjoy them? Like that's where you make that connection. And I know that you're making that connection
because you're sad, right?
You've been through something traumatic.
You got a lot of emotions going, obviously.
And this is sort of where I think you're realizing
that you're using it kind of a coping mechanism
rather than enjoying the chips.
So I love that you're planning for a setting.
I love chips.
I want to enjoy them.
Just like, you know, I don't necessarily
like pasta, for example. I don't really like pasta, but there's this pasta from this one place that I
love. I love. So when I was going there, I was planning on having pasta and I had two plates
of pasta, right? So there is this thing where you can enjoy food, right? We want you to enjoy all
the yummy bites of bits that come with life, but using it for a coping mechanism versus having it
because you're actually enjoying it, two different things. So I love that you're picking up on that.
I love that you're picking up on that. Love the Dr. Paul yesterday. Yeah, anxiety hit home for me.
It's so interesting. It's so interesting because I have never really talked out loud,
obviously anxiety factors into stress and whatnot, but I've never really talked out loud. We've
talked around it about having feels about starting the program or having feels like,
you know, feeling hopeless or feeling it's not going to work. You know, we've talked around it,
but I don't think we've actually ever said it. We've never used the word anxiety and weight loss together. So I was really interested. I'll have more of
that conversation too. Hi, Gabby. This is my third program and I've lost 40.6 pounds. I'm so proud of
myself. I'm 20 pounds away from my goal. The program has given me so much. I am 75 and still
hanging in there, baby. You are thriving. You are living. You are far from hanging
in there. I already joined for the fall program and it has been a journey of emotional health
and physical health. Don't give up no matter what they say in the race. Remember, it was the turtle
who won the race. Slow and steady, slow and steady. I love this for you. I love this so much for you, honestly.
Someone asked about, didn't know you can reach out and be spill the tea. Yeah. Yeah, man,
we would feature someone every day. I always feel really nervous about reaching out and asking
people to share because I just know it's such a vulnerable thing to do. And it's such a personal
thing to do. So I've worked with so many people over the years, and I've worked with some gyms.
And they're like, you got to like get some before and afters. I'm like, why? Why do I got to get
before and afters? They're like, well, that's how you sell. And you got to show people that there's
I'm like, there's so many before and afters out there. The people know you can lose weight. I
don't know that that's motivating, which is why I love when we showcase our members. It's not about their weight. It's about their story.
It's about their non-scale victory. Very mindful and cognizant of that because, you know, when a
person like you, like, like you goes and loses 40 pounds, that's not, it's not about the weight.
It's not about the weight. It's about everything else.
It's about everything else. So I had never really been a fan of them in terms of asking my clients
from them. But what I've learned in this program is the right thing said at the right time.
And when you feature real people and you let them write the story, you let them tell the story,
right? Especially our spotlights, we don't write that. We don't edit them. Those are like straight words
from our amazing members. I think it's authentic and it's real. I like, we have used some of our
members and some of our ads because we do have to tell the world that we're doing a weight loss
program. Um, and a lot of people would be like, oh yeah, try using a real person or this is
bullshit or whatever. I'm like, it is such a real person. It's totally a real person. I don't know if you're catching on, but I like to be very real.
I, I'm not, I don't try to pretend to be something that I not, and I don't want the program to also
try to be something that it isn't. You know, this is all about all of us just kind of finding who
we are and living our best lives. I love that. I love that, Gabby. Hi, Brenda Huxley. How are you, my friend? Hi, Mary. Hi, Carol.
I have learned to be kind to myself this round. Yes, Pam. Yes. My scale has not moved. Well,
it's higher than my lowest low and bouncing around, but I understand the many reasons,
including not being consistent, stress, grief, inflammation,
water retention, et cetera. Here's what I'm going to say to you. And then I'll read the rest.
I know you, Pam, you are a rock star, but you probably have some deep stuff like we all do to work through. And this is your season of deep, my friend. This is your season. This is the
universe working for you, not against you. I
know how hard you're working. I know how bad you want it. You are absolutely going to reach your
goals. And I truly believe that what you are going through is going to help you truly get to a place
where you are able to move past your weight loss journey. Move past it, move past it, you know?
Anyway, let me continue.
Pam and I are friends, so I can straight talk to Pam. I continue to show up daily,
even on rough days. Yeah, you fucking right you do. Fucking right you do. And my clothes fit better,
even though the scale hasn't moved because all of your hard work, your body is taking time
to solidify the weight that you have lost.
And that is something.
That is something.
You know, so many times people complain that they're on a plateau, but not recognizing the longer they are on a plateau, the more they are moving the dial on their set point.
They are actually helping their body to solidify their weight, making your new weight your new norm.
And then when you're going through all this stress, you're not gaining weight. That's huge to be able to maintain your weight is huge, huge,
huge, huge. We hear this was like, um, was it the winter program or the fall program where this was
kind of a theme where we are spill the tea gas. A lot of them, um, really talked about the fact
that they went through programs where they didn't lose a lot of weight, but then their bodies just transformed like crazy. And your body will, especially the
skin around your frame, it just takes a little bit longer for your body to make that kind of
change, you know, so this is this is something this is something back to you. Okay. After losing
70 pounds, I know my body is also adjusting to the weight to the loss. Yes, as it's huge. 70 pounds is huge. That's
it's so huge. And yes, it's going to take your body time at some point, your body's going to need
time to adjust. Now, that's still frustrating. That's still frustrating, right? But it does
give the opportunity for all the other things to pop up that you need to work through. What I am grateful for the most is that
if I wasn't here, I would have gained back 40 pounds of what I lost. Yes, I knew I would have.
I would have gained, given up and said, I will never lose weight and berate myself.
I did not do that. I am worth being kinder and compassionate to myself like I am to others.
Maybe this will take longer than planned, but I know I will get there.
Yes.
Gosh.
Kindness and compassion.
It's interesting.
I had someone complaining about the program today, complaining about a service that I'm
just going to be, listen, if you guys don't catch on that, I am pretty frank. I tell you how it is. I think it's part of my charm. It's also part of my
passion. I had someone complaining about the program today about a service, about us, about
a service that we don't even offer. And man, that's tough, right? Because I sit up here and I,
I literally don't sit around thinking about how I can make
more money. I mean, sometimes I do. I got a lot of people to pay. But I literally, my whole team
sits around and thinks about how we can better service our members. I have jammed so much value
into the cost of the program for $75. And to hear someone kind of slam it, it's just, you take a hit. And I started to get so hard on
myself. And then I was like, Gina, what the fuck are you doing? You are, you're amazing. You
literally set out to help as many people as possible, make the program affordable, accessible,
doable, sustainable. I'm always thinking of ways to better support my team, support my members.
And just because one person has something to say about it, I am feeling ways. I was like, Gina,
stop it right fucking now. Like pull your big girl panties on and get on with your fucking day.
Like I have to show myself kindness and compassion. Compassion has been my word this program. It is
so incredibly difficult. It's so incredibly difficult. Honestly, it's probably one of the
hardest things that I've had to learn is compassion. You know what I mean? Like I have a
lot of self love. What I one of the things I struggled with last program was worthiness.
So last program, I recognized worthiness was my word. And so I would have thought I'm successful,
I am worthy. Like, I thought people who didn't feel worthy were like, I don't know, down in the
dumps and just having a hard go at life. And, you know, I'm successful. Do I feel worthy of that? No, I had a really hard
time with that. So last program, my word was worthy. I'm doing better on it. This program,
my word is compassion. And man, that is so tough. And I don't know why. I don't know why. I mean,
I'm open to learning. And I'm, you know, I'm on a journey to discover why, why am I so hard on myself? Why do I not
hold, like I hold so much compassion for other people, understanding empathy, but I don't do it
for myself. So I think we throw these words out, like be kind to yourself, you know, show yourself
some self love. And like I told you guys last week, right? I was like, okay, I need to, I need
to read, I need to find some time for myself. And this is where I like, I bought like every self-help book on the market. Like I have a stack on my nightstand of all these self-help books and informational books. Like I love learning, but I'm like that, wait, that's not really, that's not, that's work, Gina. That is work. This is not, this is not finding time for you, right? And being compassionate
for yourself. So yeah, this is very, so you throw that out. My point is, Pam, I want you to know,
my point is, is that kindness and compassion, it's so much easier to do for other people. It's very,
it can be very difficult. So this can be the hardest work.
This is the hardest work of all of the work that you will probably need to do in order to be
successful in your journey. And we know that I like, you know, we're here for you. We're here
for you. Good morning. I've been missing the lives as I went to a retreat where I didn't have my
phone. Okay, well, that's lovely. Good for you.
Now I'm getting ready to make a road trip to Nova Scotia to take care of my mother-in-law who just
had a hip replacement. I'm behind the group now as I couldn't follow the plan while on retreat.
That's okay. I bet you that retreat was so great for you, honestly. Like doing something like that,
you build into the program. It's like a
compliment to the program, right? It's a compliment to the program, what you're learning, you know,
what you're experiencing. That's like, I want to offer retreats too. I want to offer retreats as
well. I'm behind the group now as I could not follow the program while on the retreat. Looking
forward to catching up on the guest experts. Sound like I missed some good stuff. Trudy,
we had some great conversations. If you need the team to help you kind of figure
out what conversations that you might've missed, just let them know and they'll help direct you to
all those conversations we hear from you. I also love your attitude about working behind in the
group because you are on your own journey. You know, we try to, if you follow along with the app,
it makes it so easy to follow along if you're behind because all the conversations are linked within the app and then they link directly into the group. So you can take time
and listen that way. But remember that we're here. We're here for you. We're here for you.
Someone asked about the cruise. I just saw you guys know I talked about a Libby loser cruise
in April. I just actually got, let me see if I can pull this up. I just actually got some information from them
yesterday. I have to read over, uh, just kind of logistics about it and whatnot. Uh, just really
want to make sure we're getting a great price for everybody and we're able to do the things that we
need to do. So what I think what I'm going to do next is do like, um, like an inquiry who's
interested, how many people are we talking about,
and maybe do like a wait list so you guys can sign up
and then we can send you like some information or whatnot
so that you can, you can, I just, sorry,
Kimberly, I want to read your comment.
So we can be in touch with everyone who's interested.
The phrase be kind to yourself has been weaponized
and is often followed with but.
Yeah.
Oh, my gosh, yeah.
Oh, my gosh, yeah.
Oh, my gosh, yeah.
I had to follow up with my GP.
Good, Kathy.
This is what I wanted to read.
I saw your comment come in earlier,
but I'm kind of navigating on two platforms here.
Let me just take a sip of my coffee.
I still have this throat thing going on.
I had to follow up with my GP yesterday. She recommended the program.
Perfect. Convenient. She was so happy for me and high-fived. It was incredible.
She celebrated my 10-pound drop with a lower blood pressure. Yeah, she did. Of course. I felt so good to know she felt it
was working and she is doing the program. I love that too. I love that too. I am fortunate to have
the Libby Method program for me and a go, a go, a doc, a go who now understands it's all body and
mindset. Thank you. Oh, Gio. Sorry, healthcare provider. This is what I love, right? This program
is about empower. It's so much more than weight loss. It's this is why I love our guest experts.
It's really about empowering you to go to your healthcare providers. And more than that, I know
so many of you have gone to healthcare providers, let's lose some weight, eat better, lose some
weight, eat better. Well, now you have, now you have, and you're getting the respect that you deserve
for the hard work that you have done. This really opens up a lot of conversations for
healthcare providers, because if you can imagine, like losing weight and eating healthy is really
oversimplifying, but doing something like the Livi Method really builds a foundation for you
to build on, especially if you have other health issues
that you are dealing with. And this is where your doctor can really get into those. It's like, I'm
sure your doctor's like, help me help you, right? Like these are the basic things that you need to
do. If your body was functioning on a healthier level, it'd be a lot easier to suggest and address
the things that you need, right? And so I love this. I love when
doctors are on board. I've had many doctors and healthcare providers who've done my program. I
always love that. I'm actually looking for more doctors to come on board and work with us in
terms of being guest experts, because I think that is really important. So I love that. I love that.
I love that. I love that you lost the 10 pounds, but more so I love that you're have lowered your blood
pressure.
That is like tangible internal proof, right?
Cause sometimes we're just looking for the scale to be the proof that we need, that it's
working for us when it's just so much more than that.
So much more than that.
Dr. Dina, Dr. Alinka, Kyle, and Dr. Paul combined, took me from a very messy, messy middle
back to being mentally moving forward. Can I read that again? Because that is what
that's what we're trying to do. We can't do it for you. Right? We can only do so much. I see a lot of
you reaching out, you want to DM us, you want to, you know, talk to us personally. Unfortunately,
it's not a service that we provide. I mean, we, I have chosen, even I don't do personal clients anymore.
One, because honestly, the price that I would have to charge is just ridiculous.
I choose to spend my knowledge, my time and my energy helping as many people as possible.
So unfortunately, that's not a service that I can
provide, nor my team can provide. But man, we sure as shit are going to try to empower you and give
you all the information that you need in order to do the things that you need to do, can do,
should do, whatever. But more importantly, so that you can walk away and have conversations
with healthcare providers where you don't have to spend 10 sessions to get to the bottom of things
because you've already done so much that you can get right to the conversation, you know,
right to the conversation. Dr. Dina, Dr. Alinka, Kyle and Dr. Paul conversations combined took me
from a very messy middle back to being mentally moving forward. The food I can do
no problem, right? Exactly. It's not the food. It's not the water. It's not that. Very rarely
is that. And it's so hard to explain. Like when I do sit down with my personal clients,
I'll spend at least two hours just getting to know them. What's your history?
Did you have a weight issue as a child?
Do you have any health issues?
What are the things that you've done?
What are pivotal times in your life?
What's your relationship with yourself, with your family, with your environment?
What do you do for a job?
What's your daily routine?
Like all of those things.
You know yourself best, right? This is why it's so key to go back and like track your health history, but more than that, your weight journey to really understand what you've been through. And sort of like, you
know, what you also work through and where you are now and what you need to do moving forward.
Also really important to have a really strong why we also reinforce this conversation with Dr. Paul
as well, your motivation, you're not gonna be motivated every day. But it's really important
to have a really strong why, why did you sign up for the program? Why are you doing things, right? And then it's all about the maximizing, like, you know,
that's just a surface thing of like all the areas that you can touch on and to look for
opportunities, you know, things you can do to be proactive, right? Is it sleep? Is it stress? Is
like what moving your body? Is it getting your blood work done? And then this is sort of where
if you have hormonal issues or gut issues or, you know, any inflammation in the body, getting your blood work done. And then this is sort of where if you have hormonal issues
or gut issues or, you know, any inflammation in the body,
right, not only are there things that you can do about it,
but, you know, here's again where you're empowered
to have those conversations.
Be kind of investigative.
Okay, I'm doing this.
If you do this, your body should respond like that.
Why isn't it?
You know, why isn't it?
And that's what I'm hoping this program does for everybody.
The food I can do, no problem.
Eat poorly and my body will scream back at me.
The mindset wavers.
Those last four conversations were invaluable.
Ah, this just warms my heart because when I'm having with them, I mean, I've also done
21 programs and been doing this for 30 years.
I am able to have the, I'm able when I'm having the, when you see my mind and I'm just like,
oh my God, I'm always like the Libby method is amazing.
It's not just like toot toot, my program is amazing.
It's everything you guys are doing.
And when I'm having these conversations, I'm thinking about all the conversations that
I've had and all the things that people have gone through and dealt with and really see
it all working together. That's the secret is how it all works together. When people diet, they do a little
bit of this, little bit of this, little bit of this, little bit of that, little bit of this,
whatever. And it just kind of, it's bits and pieces. And that's the results you get are bits
and pieces where if you take all the things that you're doing under the same umbrella and you move
forward with that, which is what you're talking about.
Moving forward with that information, it's amazing what you can accomplish. Honestly,
it's amazing what you can accomplish. Hi, Megumi. Yesterday was my first dinner that I felt don't need carbs for my dinner. I'm not missing it. Wow. Finally, day 58, I felt that way. I have lost 3.4 kilograms so far. I feel
great about what I put in my body. Yeah. So did you know carbs are not like they're not essential,
right? Protein, amino acids, essential. Your body needs it. Essential fatty acids, essential.
Carbohydrates really are not essential, especially breads, pastas, refined processed carbohydrates.
There's just no need for them.
And this is why we've so framed those as like carbs that when I talk carbs, I'm talking energy
foods like vegetables, fruits that have a high nutrient value. They're actually a benefit to
the body in so many different ways. And so a lot of times people think that you need that,
you need that, you need that, you need that. You know, when in reality, you really don't,
you really don't. Next week, which is going to be interesting, we're actually going to be split,
switching up the star of the meal. So next week, protein is going to be the focus at lunch. And
then your carbs, like your vegetables are going to be the focus at dinner. So I love that you got
to this place before we switch that over last week. It's kind of like how everything comes.
If you just follow
the program, it's really interesting how things will just come together for you. So I love hearing
that. My first program I did well splitting up the meals and snacks program to not so much. I think
I struggled because I was hungrier than usual. Even though I knew I could eat again in 20 minutes,
it was really difficult to be mindful. So so I so this is interesting, because you can either have
where you are not hungry at all.
You're like, oh my God, I don't want to see food again. Or you will notice that you are extra
hungry. That is because you are feeding the metabolism. Like you're like putting fuel on
the fire. Your body is working hard. Also with where you're at in the program. So at this point
in the program, you've been giving your body all these resources and the platform to make change, to get healthier, to increase your metabolism.
So the metabolism is the rate at which your body functions or the amount of energy it's
giving you access to.
So when you start doing the program, you start to feel like, oh, I got more energy.
I feel like moving my body more.
Like you always had that in you.
It's just your body, when it felt the need to store fat, keeps you in this reserve mode.
And now it's starting to give you more energy. This is why portions are always what they feel
like and never about what they look like. So one day you might need only one egg to feel satisfied
the next day, three eggs to feel satisfied. So don't freak out if you're noticing that you need
a little bit more food, that's okay too. So splitting, splitting up your meals and snacks,
feeding the metabolism, just like downsizing. Downsizing was put food on your plate. So splitting, splitting up your meals and snacks, feeding the metabolism, just like
downsizing. Downsizing was put food on your plate and sure, ask the four questions and then leave a
little bit. But it was also about putting food on your plate, asking the four questions, still being
really unsatisfied, needing to go back, get more to downsize that portion. So same thing with feeding
the metabolism. It can be splitting up your meals, splitting up your meal, right? You eat the first portion, you wait 20, 30 minutes, you eat the
second portion, you're still hungry, go back for a third portion, ask for questions and eat just
enough. So you're walking away from that third portion feeling satisfied. So you want to be in
tune to that. Some days you're going to be really hungry. Now, if you're craving carbs and sugar,
it could just be that you need to bump up your water if you're for like a low water intake day, or if you've had sugar, you're
just craving more sugar. If you're craving salt, it could be that you're just having stressful
and you need to bump up your fats, right? So, you know, is it a craving or is it hunger? But don't
be afraid to eat more. I know it's so counterintuitive, which is probably the hard
part, right? It's counterintuitive. A couple more questions. Self-talk is so huge. When I started to be kinder to myself and stop, hello,
Libby Loser Spotlight. Make sure you check out the Libby Loser Spotlight this week, you guys.
Self-talk is huge. When I started to be kinder to myself and stop with the negative thoughts,
which were pervasive, things really changed for me. Let
me slow down and read that again. Self-talk is huge. When I started to be kinder to myself and
stop the negative thoughts, which were pervasive, things really changed for me. It was almost like
the more I obsessed, the more my body held on to the weight. I think momentum and kindness is crucial. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, it is. Yeah, it is. Yeah, it is. It's so hard though. It's when we're motivated,
a lot of us. So I grew up in a workforce. I grew up in a workforce, literally. So I,
I mean, when you're a teen and you had a job in like the eighties, your managers were not kind.
Your managers were not kind, not kind. Um, when I, I used to work on this television morning show
and I used to wear headphones like this and I started out as a floor director. So it'd be my
job to like, make sure things are going well. And I'd have people in my ear. What the fuck are you
doing? We go fucking do this. What the fuck? Oh my God. Sometimes I'd take off
my earphones and be like, for a minute. And then they'd be like, where are you? Did you hear me?
It seems like I've always worked for people whose mentality is make people feel like they're lucky
to have a job and they will never quit and never leave. But then they're miserable. They're
miserable. And my dad, I tell
the story, my dad was a little bit hardcore. Like my dad's the kind of guy who fell off a roof,
broke his leg in three places, thought a beer would fix it. And when he caught on that the
beer wasn't fixing it, he drove himself with said broken leg to the hospital. So this is my dad.
This is the same dad I've told the story where I came in
second place once. And I told my dad, I won second. He's like, you didn't win. Second isn't winning.
Were you first? If you weren't first, you didn't win. So I wonder where I get it from. I wonder
where I get it from. It comes from somewhere. It comes from somewhere. So it can take a while.
Like, and then here's the thing about that too. Like You also have to appreciate, you can't just berate
yourself for who you've been or who you were. Because if I wasn't like that, I don't know that
I would have the resiliency to do what I do today. I don't think I would have done the things that I
needed to do to get to where I am today. If there wasn't that
voice inside of my head saying, let's go suck it up, buttercup, figure it out. Let's go like
whatever. So I'm getting to a place where I'm honoring, like that is where I'm coming from.
And that is a big reason to how I got to where I am. And it's a big part of me. Now I am learning that along with that, get up and go figure it out
sister attitude can also be compassion, kindness, and it's okay to take a break. And it's okay if
things don't go your way. It doesn't mean you're a failure. It doesn't mean that you're stupid or
you're dumb or you're not worthy or any of those things, which, which no one, by the way, ever said to me. It's just that I
internalized what people were saying and I was hard on myself. I was hard on myself. So it's one
of those things that you can't just be like, there was nothing wrong with you before. There was
nothing wrong with you today. You are perfect exactly the way that you are and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. But that doesn't mean that there isn't areas
to improve on or make change or change your perspective or who you are or the kind of
energy that you're showing up for yourself. So I think that is really important, like really
embracing that, right? Really embracing that. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to spill the tea,
but I could maybe handle a spotlight. If I had to spill the tea with Gina, I'd be fangirling the whole time. Stop, you guys. I am
You guys have no idea. I honestly, and I think this is what hurts my soul when people complain
about the program, because you literally have no idea how like, I just want you to be successful.
And I am so grateful that you signed up. And I am so happy that you are here. And I just want you to be successful. And I am so grateful that you signed up and I am so happy that you
are here. And I just want you to know that I want you to see that. And you know, to me,
I do more fangirling. I, I, I am end up being the one who's doing the fangirling because I'm
reading your bios. I'm reading your stories. I'm like, holy shit, look what they've been through
or look what they've done or look where they are or look at their attitude. You know, like I got, I follow Heather. Sorry,
I keep saying Heather. It's not, it's Andrea on a healthier journey. In my mind, it keeps
translating to Heather. So I follow Andrea on Instagram. She's been an inspiration to me.
I don't know her. I just know that every day she gets up, she does her workout and I get up and I
scroll my phone and I see her every day doing her workout.
And so many times I've been like, okay, she's doing it.
Let's go.
I'm doing it.
And so you guys inspire me.
And so I fangirl just as much over you.
Trust me, I fangirl just as much over you.
We should all fangirl over each other, right?
Really.
We should all be really proud of everything that we have
done. What's a septuagarian? What's that? I wonder how many of us septuagarians, what is that? Is
that an age thing? What am I reading out there? When you talk about years of having been sold a bill of goods,
yes. We older ladies, and yes, I'm not there yet. I'm coming. I'm not there yet. Someone tell me
about that. In your 70s. Thank you, Rosemary. In your 70s. Okay. So I wonder how many of us are in
our 70s. When you talk about years of having been sold a bill of goods, we older ladies and men have
so many decades of unhealthy, if well-intended, habits to unlearn.
Yeah.
This is the definition of self-love.
We are still committed to getting healthy after all that disappointment is a model for
everyone.
91 days are nothing.
Think about 50 years.
Yeah, this is the plan.
So you know what's really interesting is, I love that. I love that you shared that,
that once our members who are older run through the program, reach their goals and get into
maintenance, they're also just like, yeah, no, I'm done. And when you ask them if you're confident
about being able to maintain their weight, they're like, it's not even a question. Absolutely. And when we ask them why it's because
you now know better, you're like, ah, I've been through all of that. I've seen it all. I've been
there, done that. I got it. This is it. I'm moving forward. And that's just the way it is. It's
really interesting. And in fact, it's like, I'm just, I'm obsessed with it
because I think it's one of those things that come with age where you are able to reflect on
and you see very clearly, okay. Right. Like you were sold a bill of goods. Like you're able to,
whereas some people a little bit, just not too far removed from it or still hoping maybe a quick
fix here or there, or still kind of like they're, man, you know what I mean?
And there's still a lot being thrown at them about like, you can't tell me like calories in
versus calories out. I cannot roll my eyes high enough, but that comes with 30 years of experience
in dealing with it. Right. So it's kind of like, yeah, you know, I, so I did went to the Canadian,
I got it going, but went into the Canadian. I told myself, I'm going to keep these shorter for you
guys. We're rolling into summer. I'm sure you have more exciting, fun things to do, uh, with your day.
But when we went to the Canadian obesity summit and Ruth shared the data from our program,
the amounts of clinical amounts of weight people are losing that, like the healthy side effects,
you know, this young kid comes along who just did a presentation on, I don't even know what it was.
Bless him. Bless him.
I think it was on like a cold water therapy or something. And he's like, so it's calories in
versus calories out. And I was just like, oh God. Yeah, that's what it is. Yeah, it's calories in
versus calories out because yeah, that works. I'm just like, you know, you know what I mean?
And that's what's happened is a lot of the younger generation are coming out and doubling down on calories in versus calories out. It's so much
more than that, which we are going to realize as we go. But I think that's it, you know? So,
my point is not about that, that, that, that the young, and I can say that because I'm in my 50s
now, bless him, bless him and his enthusiasm. Um, but it's about, you can't tell me it's calories in versus
calories out. You know, you just, you can't. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But
it's so much more than that. So I think when you're able to, you can't see the forest from
the trees. That's what I'm trying to say. And I think in, in, in, in what you've learned and the
wisdom and experience that you bring to the table when you're older, when you get it, you get it. It's very similar actually to young people. I love working with young people.
And so what will happen is like, you know, a mom or someone will bring me in, someone would bring
someone into being like, this is my daughter and I'm worried and blah, blah, blah. And I'm worried
about this, worried about that. And, you know, they're bringing all of their issues into the
meeting. And I said, okay, do you mind if I have a conversation with your kid, whatever? And I explained it to them and they're like, oh, okay. So if I don't eat,
yeah, I might lose weight, but my body's going to, my body's just going to feel like
storing it back plus more. I'm like, yeah. Oh shit. Okay. Like it's really like you just tell
them how it is. You, You educate them in the proper way.
And they're like, oh, all right.
And then they do the program and whatever.
And that's it because they don't have years of baggage of issues and associations and
beliefs and whatever.
They just take it for face value.
And then they're able to move on.
You know, something to be said about that.
I love that.
I love that.
I love it.
I love it.
I love it.
Are there people that lose weight
rapidly on the program? Yeah. I mean, I'll read the rest of your, I had some the other day,
um, wondering if they're losing weight too quickly.
Concern they're losing weight too fast. Now, listen, there are some underlying health issues
that can lead to someone losing a lot of weight real quick. So if you feel like anything
is off, go to your doctor. But the program is designed to work. Now, the average person loses
one to two pounds per week, right? Anywhere from 11 to 16 pounds per program. That's on average.
Like, so if you've only lost like six, seven, eight pounds at this point, that's amazing.
But it is designed to work and to work quickly. You don't fuck around. You might understand that from me. I don't fuck around. And so I'm telling you,
I've set the bar really high of all the things that you can do. There's so many things that you
can do. If you just want to do some of the things, that's okay too. I totally respect that. And it
doesn't mean that someone who's losing more than someone else is working harder either. It's the
state of your body when you show up. It's the
amount of weight that you have to lose. So the most anyone ever lost during the program, I can't
remember so long ago, 82 or 84 pounds. And he was a guy and he was a little bit younger and he had
the weight to lose. And so if you took someone in 91 days, who's lost 80 something pounds, it's
going to seem like they're dropping all the time. Now, I would bet, I would bet that the next
program, they probably didn't lose a lot. At some point, their body has to say, whoa, Nellie,
calm down. We need to like take a minute and adjust to the weight that we've lost. The size
of your heart, which is a muscle, will need to adjust. Your body temperature, blood flow,
metabolism, hormones, like all of that is going to need to adjust to you no longer, your body no
longer functioning with 80 pounds worth of weight. So that would seem like it's a pretty quick for
someone, but that doesn't mean, like I said, they could have spent the next program, whole program,
not losing any weight because their body was taking time to adjust to the weight that they've
lost, right? Are there people that lose weight rapidly on the program? We talk a lot about slow
and steady, but this is my first program and I've lost 30 pounds so far. I started at 252. Yep. So I know I have a lot to lose. I've been following
the program and love it. I've always been so active and I've cut down my gym from six days
a week to two to three times a week. I do continue to play hockey and volleyball. I just want to know
if this is normal out there also. This is happening on top of stress from going through a divorce and all those feels right
now.
What is happening?
Okay.
So it is totally normal.
Like 30, I would say like, you know, you can lose, you know, I would say to someone like
20 to 60 pounds, right?
A little bit more maybe if you have it, you know, men tend to lose a little bit quicker.
30 pounds is great.
Now you might lose 30 pounds this program.
You might lose 30 pounds in the next
program, and then you might have a plateau, right? And very similar to Pam, who is down 70 pounds in
the program. And now she is having a session where yes, she's doing the mental work. But more than
that, her body is taking time to solidify the weight that she's lost, right? So, so it's everyone
is really different. Everyone is really different. That's what I can say to you. Some people like drop and drop and drop and drop and drop.
And then they have really long plateaus.
And then there are people who are losing, solidifying, losing, solidifying.
So they lose plateau, lose plateau, lose plateau, lose plateau.
And I wouldn't say one is any better than the other.
I wouldn't.
So it's just, everybody is a little different.
But 30 pounds is is that wouldn't be
unusual. There's lots of people you will see at the end of the program. I've lost 25, 26.5 pounds
this round. Some people are, you know, 40 pounds. Like what? So everyone is a little different.
It's interesting that you say this because I've worked so hard to change the messaging. I love it. I can't win. I can't win. I worked so hard to change the
messaging that the program is for people who don't have a lot of weight to lose because people would
see these big numbers and be like, oh, your program is, I've had people be horrible and say,
your programs is for really fat people. I kicked them out by the way. I kicked those people out of
the program, but people would say their perception is it's only for people who have a lot of weight to lose because people are losing these big chunks.
Is it also for people who have a small amount of weight? Yeah, it came off quickly in round one.
Here's Pam Woods, 34 pounds, I think. Yeah, then two rounds, 20 pounds, right?
So I worked really hard to change the verbiage into like, it's, you know, slow and steady is
great. And there are a lot of people who don't have a lot of weight to lose and it works just
as well for them. So, so yes, you're doing great. Keep doing you, keep doing you, keep doing you,
keep doing you. And that's like that comment the other day when someone's like, I'm concerned,
I'm losing weight too quickly. I'm like, ah, enjoy it. Unless you feel like something else is going,
like is going on, enjoy it because there will be a time right here. Yeah. It came off quick. Yeah.
Round one. Yeah. Uh, there will be a time where you're going to be at a plateau and you'll just
be like, Oh my God, am I ever going to lose? Is my scale going to start? Right. Rosemary,
I lost 22 in my first program, 13 in the second and five in the third maintenance and learning
the mental stuff since then. This winter was my first program going up and where, let me
read that, where I learned the most. Yeah. Don't leave without dealing with your feelings and
triggers. Yeah. I love that. Yeah. And this is the thing too, like, so we've actually talked to
Ruth and her team at the University of Ottawa. People who spend more time in the program have
an easier time in maintenance because you can lose your weight one and done in one program, but that doesn't mean that you're done working through the issues and
associations and whatnot. Right? So that is where for some people, the work really is in the back
end. I don't want to talk about that yet. I'm going to get into that later on. I've got to go.
I totally broke my own rule of keeping this short and sweet for you guys. Um, for those of you who
stuck around, thank you. You know, I could talk all day. I could talk all
day about this stuff. Um, remember we have all the downloads of all of these available over on
our podcast as well. The Livvy Method podcast. So if you want to download, listen while you're
out and about or driving or on a walk or whatnot, they're all available. Remember, this is the one
place I know I haven't said this in a while where we don't usually circle back and answer questions.
Sometimes we do.
If the team sees them, they'll flag them.
But if you have a question that I didn't answer today, pop it over in the question of the
day page and the team will be more than happy to help you out over there.
Have an amazing day, everyone.
And I'll see you later.
Bye.
