I'm Gina Livy and welcome to the Livy Method podcast.
This is where you'll have access to all of the live streams from my 91 day weight loss program.
With a combination of daily lives, guest expert interviews and member stories,
there is something new almost every day.
Miss the morning live? Want to re-listen to one of our amazing guest experts?
Well, this is the place.
This podcast is hosted on Acast, but it's available
on all podcast platforms, including the one you're listening to right now, Spotify, Apple,
and Amazon Music. Hello, hello. Happy day 82 of the program. Can you hear me now? I'm just,
I'm actually downtown Toronto because we are meeting up with our amazing team here at Weight Loss by Gina. This is where we get
together every year at this time and we party. We get to meet each other. We get to hang out.
We have people in our company who haven't met other people because they live on the other side
of the country. So everyone is coming in so we can hang out and get to know each other better,
spend the time with the people that we work with every day because everybody in the company
works remote. So I am downtown today and I just had a minute trying to get my iPad working so I
can answer any questions that you have. Okay, so it's Friday. Happy Friday. We are winding down
week 11. How are you feeling about that? I used to get sad about the end of the program. You'll find that
I'll just go on and on and on. I'm a bit of a procrastinator. I don't want the program to end.
But I used to get sad. And then one time someone said to me, like, what are you sad about? Because
people are either leaving because they've been successful, they're moving on to maintenance,
or they're coming back. And usually they're coming back with friends and they're
getting one step closer to their goal. So I try not to be too sad about the end of a program.
Every program for me is like the same but different. And each kind of group has a different vibe to it. And I like to give each group sort of a word that kind of,
I think, summarizes the group. And to me, my word this time was compassion. That kept coming up,
compassion, compassion, compassion, this group. I hope that you have enjoyed the program over the
last few few months but
we are not done yet so just a heads up next week is all about maintenance so we're going to talk
about maintenance we're going to talk about the maintenance group we're going to talk about the
new maintenance program that i'm actually downtown um with odette with kim and we are working on the
maintenance program so right now we have a maintenance group. We have a maintenance
protocol. So we're going to share with you everything that you need to know about being
successful when it comes to maintenance. But we're actually working on a 91 day maintenance
program that we're hoping to have ready to go in the fall, at least the online version. It might
take us a little while to get the app version up and running. But right now,
if you want to join the maintenance group, that's going to be a place where you can work through
your maintenance journey. You can ask all the questions that you need. We have daily posts and
whatnot, but it's not a guided program and process. You can use the app after the 91 days of the
program turns into a general tracker, but we're going to talk about maintenance next week. Odette,
who's the manager of the maintenance program and group is going to join kim and i on wednesday for our tweak this week
conversation and then on tuesday my spill the tea guest christine has been in maintenance for over
a year so we're going to talk to her about maintenance and so everything maintenance next
week however for those of you who are still looking to lose it's still very much focused
on getting and keeping the scale moving those of you who have still looking to lose, it's still very much focused on getting and keeping the scale moving.
Those of you who have fallen behind in the group for whatever reason, vacation, sickness, whatever,
make sure you reach out, ask as many questions as you need before the end of the program,
unless, of course, you're joining our Bridging the Gap Summer Club.
So that's a new program for us this year.
We kind of tested it out last summer and this summer we are
doing a Bridging the Gap Summer Club. It's where I'm going to be this summer. It's where the team's
going to be this summer. It's where you'll have access to us answering any questions that you have
regardless if you are looking to continue to lose or you just want to maintain throughout the summer
or you want to set yourself up for success. If you're behind in the group and you want support,
that's where we're going to be. I'm still going to go live, not every day, but I'll be going live
every week. I'll be checking in periodically. We have guest segments scheduled and whatnot. So
we'll have daily posts where our community can come together. So if you're interested in that,
you can head over to our website, ginolivey.com. All right. Hi hi Brenda. This is my second program. I have derailed completely over
the last four weeks. So it's only four weeks, right? The work that you did leading up absolutely
made a big difference. So all you need to do is get back on track. So you're going to want to
review the back on track posts. This is your second group. So you, you, you get back on track,
back on track for as many days as you need until you feel like you're a back on track and pick up where you left off. Bridges and Gap might be a great group for you to join
because then you can pick up where you left off in the program and then just keep following through
and have that support that you need. Make sure you ask as many questions as you need to be super
clear. Some of you are reaching out, talking about how maybe you're not all that happy with what's
going on the scale. You're having a hard time getting the scale moving. It is not too late to post your answers to your 20 questions.
So you know the 20 questions checklist. If you want to try to give us as much detailed
information as possible, we can still try to help you at this point, figure out what's going on or
what you can focus on. All the program specialists, super knowledgeable about the program.
They've been through the program themselves. A lot of them have been where you are, have felt how you
felt. Really great for getting insight, but we can only help as much as we can help based on the
information that you give us. So if you want to reach out and let us know what's going on or in
what particular thing are you having a hard time with?
Why have you fallen behind or why are you struggling with? Um, there was a great conversation
that we had with Dr. Beverly a couple of weeks ago, I think two weeks ago. And she talked about
sort of defining what was that? I want that to happen all the time. Um, Dr. Beverly talked about defining your
struggles. So what is it that you're having a hard time with? What, what are you struggling
with? And she gave us that, uh, cognitive behavioral therapy model where you are deciding
between like, is it your behavior or emotions or physical or your, whatever that is. And it can
help you determine exactly what it is that you're struggling with.
And you can put a plan in place to help deal with that. Good morning. Hi, Jackie.
Oh, my iPad is just wonderful here. Hit my lowest low today, which I'm thrilled. New non-scale
victory. I now fit into bathing suits I bought in 2011. Now I just need somewhere to wear them.
I've joined the summer club to stay
consistent throughout the summer. Well, I'm going to, I plan on doing my lives from my pool. So come
on over to my house and bring your bathing suit. I actually went swimming this morning. So I got up
this morning, um, and I went for a little swim and then here at the hotel, they have like a little
yoga room and there was like, um, no yoga instructor, but there was like one of those mirrors, you know, the mirrors that you can get like, um, and has workouts.
You, you turn them on and they guide you through a workout. So I did that. Find a reason to find a
place and a reason to wear your bathing suit. That's what you need to do. Find a place and a
reason to wear your bathing suit. Hi, Brenda Huxley. How are you doing? Brenda recovering from
brain tumor surgery. That was
your badass Brenda. My goodness. I'll be here for bridging the gap in the next 4,356 programs. I'm
never leaving. So it's interesting. The other day, um, there was a woman who popped, who popped on,
uh, there was a woman who popped on in the group
yesterday. I don't know if some of you saw it and she made a comment about, she was mad. It was a
couple of mad faces. And, um, this was just a, we're a cult and you know, it's, this is a scam
and a sham because people have to do more than one program. I mean, it's obvious she missed the memo on how we run the program.
Bless her. It was the only comment she had made in three months. I mean, obviously she didn't do the program. She was angry for some reason. But we were, God is thinking about talking about just
normalizing, putting the amount of time in that you need in order to reach your goals.
It's a lot to work through, not just even physically, because we're working on the maintenance program.
Mentally, like once you're done losing the weight physically, then once you've lost it, it's this whole other mental game.
Continuing to work through issues, associations, trying not to fall back into old habits, especially when you're triggered.
You know, recognize when you do fall back into old habits that that way of coping,
for example, is no longer working for you when you get when things are happening in your life.
And just kind of like then learning to trust that the changes that you've made,
learning to trust yourself, like there's just learning a whole new way of life because you can't just go back to live the life that you were living because you were a, you were
a product of the life that you were living and the choices that you were making. And I'm assuming you
weren't all happy with that and you wanted to change. So over the course of doing the program,
4,000 programs, you were really just focused on creating the lifestyle that you want to live and
then doing the things that are going to support that.
And that's not like it's great.
Like if you can make that change overnight, but most people in general in their lives, it takes some time to make change.
It's not even the weight loss part of it that takes the long time.
It's like getting out of your own way, you know, prioritizing yourself, trying to do all the things when life is getting in the way. And there's of course different seasons of life where sometimes it's like
life is more chaotic. And then you have other times where it just seems like it's,
you get to do all the things you need to do and make all the choices that you need to make.
And it doesn't seem like anything is getting in your way and things are moving and grooving.
And then literally like the next program or the next season of your life, it's just like
getting smacked in the face left, right and center. So we want to normalize that doing as
many programs as you need. And I break it down into digestible chunks because what it says to
your soul when you start something and when you finish and when it says to your soul when you
are done, when you are here at the end of the program and you are able to see in its entirety how everything fits together and how all of your hard work pays off and how quickly the time goes by, you're going to be like, holy shit, look what I did.
And the time like that was really fast.
Of course, you know, when you're in the middle of it, it can seem like it's taking taking forever.
But we really need to normalize that.
But beyond that, we got to get you out of the weight loss program. And so this is what we're
talking about with the maintenance program and the maintenance group, right? So you got to do
the maintenance program, solidify your weight, then be in the maintenance group for as long as
you need until you're really ready to let it all go and just live your life. Wake up, look good,
feel good, you know, continue to,
to, to support the lifestyle that you created for yourself. I mean, who do you want to be when you
look beyond losing your weight physically, who is the person that you want to be? And what is the
life that you are going to live that is going to support you and the person that you want to be?
And there's a lot that goes into that. There's a lot of conversations we can have around that.
So I want to get that maintenance program, the maintenance group, obviously, but then I want to create that finally and forever club. Maybe I want, there's
got to be a roadmap to where you want to go. And so out of the weight loss group through maintenance
and then off living your life, but how do we keep our amazing community community together?
How do we continue to create
space for showing up for ourselves, focusing on the things that we want to focus on far beyond
weight loss, right? Um, speaking of, do you guys catch the conversation yesterday?
Dr. Alinka, Dr. Beverly, Dr. Dina. You know what was really interesting about that is that I was so excited.
And then I was like, I got on and I'm like, this is going to be so exciting.
And I was expecting, I was like, yes.
And it was just this kind of like, and it was really interesting because I find, and
I'm not knocking the people out, everyone
who's trying to do their thing or experts or whatever they're sharing out there.
But I find sometimes when it comes to experts, they're just trying to show what they know
and not actually help.
There's like a difference.
There's like meeting people where they are at and understanding what they need and trying
to fill that need using your expertise.
And all of our guests are so great at this on like on a regular basis.
When they come on, they're really want you to be sick.
They're trying to think of how can they help you and share their knowledge.
I thought yesterday was such a respectful conversation.
It was interesting because you could tell that all of all of the experts were really
into what each other were saying I just thought it was magic I thought it was magic to let these
super amazing knowledgeable incredible women share their knowledge but in a way where each other was
so respectful of what the other was saying
and all for a common cause. I just thought it was incredible. I want to do more of that. I want to
do more of that. Um, I want to do, I want to do more of that and I'm going to do more of that.
Uh, good morning. This is my first post in the Facebook group. I need someone who's willing to
be an accountable accountability buddy. So here's what I got to say. If you guys can hook up and find accountability buddies, I love that.
But also this program is accountability. The bridging the gap group will be an accountability
place. And it's really about my experience with accountability. I love buddying up. I think that's
a great idea. But my experience with accountability is you are accountable to yourself and it's all about
creating the routine or the support for you to continue to show up. Like accountability is
popping in every day and watching the check-in video, right? You're non-negotiables to yourself.
Um, you know, accountability is, you know, setting your intentions and end of day reflections.
And I would have a lot
of people who would say to me well I want to sign up with you because I want you to hold me
accountable and I'm like I don't do that I don't like if someone signs up to work with me and
their their their why is because they need me to hold them accountable otherwise they won't do it
I will I won't work with them I'm like you need to get to a place where you want to do this for you and you're creating
your own, you are accountable to yourself and to yourself alone.
Now there is statistics that say when you do something like this with somebody else,
you can share motivation, you can share support, you know, that definitely has its benefits.
And this is why we've created the support group.
This is why we've created the support group.
This is why we've created a sense of community. So even if you are alone, we have a ton of program specialists here that if you like say, Hey, I'm having a bad day or Hey, I need some motivation
or Hey, this is how I'm feeling. Like we're here for you. We're here for you. So I do love the idea
of reaching out for accountability, but I just want to say for anyone who maybe isn't so forthcoming and trying to find an accountability partner,
we, we want to be that for you. That's, that's, we want to be that for you. I hear a lot of you
talking about how you're nervous. You want to go on your own. You don't want to, like, you feel
like you should go on your own or you want to go on your own. And the next breath talk about how
you're nervous and whatever, and unsure, just sign up for the Bridging the Gap group. I mean, I don't
want to be flippant with finances, but $29, it's like 82 cents a day. You get support, you get to
be part of the community, you're kept in the loop, you get access to our guest segments, to our lives.
We're not putting any of that on our podcast. It'll only be accessible in the Bridging the Gap group. But if you are unsure, then sign up for that Bridging the Gap group. I mean,
that's what it's there for, right? Continuing to make it affordable and accessible for everybody.
This idea in sense, we talked about this yesterday with the guests that I need to go it on my own.
I should be able to go to on my own. You know, if you're not there yet, then, you know, invest in
the time in the group, get the
support that you need in and utilize the group, ask as many questions as you need, you know,
post those 20 questions, like we're there to help you. And so you don't, it's not just a matter of
following along. It's a matter of like utilizing the resources you have. And the group is another
resource. If you don't have the book yet, be a great idea to get your hands on the book. If you haven't got the book yet,
order the book from Amazon. Even if you've gone through the program, if you're signing up to fall
again or review the post. So you will have access to all the information in the Facebook support
group when we're done. You'll also be able to use the app, continue to use the app for free
as a general tracker after you're done as well. Um, but it might get a great idea if you find it hard to
kind of review those posts is do some summer reading, pick up the book. All of those posts
will hit differently based on where you are at now. And you might learn some new stuff just
because like when you read the first post, you were in a different mindset than when you're
right now. Right? Let me scroll down and see if you got any questions. Oh, where'd that go? Lowest low today, less than eight pounds is programmed, 43 overall,
six rounds. Helen, I love that. Leveling up with health and stress, all good. It does take time.
Well, and you're not just, you don't just keep redoing the thing over and over. You're building,
you're building, you're building, you're building, you're building on, you're working on increasing your metabolism. You're working on building your resilience and your
confidence. You're working on building and increasing that mind body connection. You're
working on, you know, prioritizing yourself. You're working on making your food choices as
nutrient, which is possible. You're working on your relationship with self or your relationship with other people you're working
on your environment and your social you like what's happening socially when you're showing up
how you navigate certain situations like travel or celebratory days and parties like you're kind
of doing a whole life revamp is kind of what you're doing with the program, right?
All the things that you're focusing on,
managing your stress, managing,
trying to get better sleep, moving your body,
you know, doing all the things that you are doing.
There's a lot of working parts to it.
A lot of working parts.
Hi, Christine, good morning.
Beautiful day to be celebrating my 65th birthday. Officially a
senior now. Yeah, you get that discount. You get those discounts. I love it. I can't wait to be a
senior. I will only be so grateful if I get to be a senior in my life, honestly. Happy birthday.
Happy birthday. Happy birthday. Happy birthday. Where was where was this comment oh we already deleted
that we deleted the comments um you'll notice that we don't so we don't um we like to keep people
focused on um their journeys and it's really easy to get caught up in drama and you know what
happens at this time i'll be honest is that we get um we get a lot of people who didn't believe
in the program,
stopped following for whatever reason, and they're back.
And sometimes I think they come back with this attitude or they're pissed off or they're upset
because they just want to validate that the program didn't work for them
when they see people being successful.
Because you can start at the beginning.
This is too much food for me. I can't watch all the lives like that. There's tons of excuses. I can see people planning
this out. Seeds of doubt. Like I'll tell you who won't stick around in the first couple of weeks
of the program. We try desperately to get people to stick around, but people always fall off.
And 21 programs later, I still hear from people after the fact, I stopped following. I want to
see these results. What can I, what do I do?
But the reality is, is you have to do the work that everybody did in order to see the results
that they are seeing, like that there's no work around. There's, there's no work around. There's
no quick fix. There's no magic to it other than now, if you want the results that people have,
you have to show up and do the work. And I think sometimes rather than being vulnerable
and showing up because we are there to support you and be like, hey, I didn't really believe
this program worked, but I see that it does. How can I get back at this? You know, how can I utilize
the money that I paid? What can I do to get these results? We're just so happy to say this all the
time. We're just so happy that people are back. We don't care where you've been. We don't care.
We know people stop following for whatever reason. We know people don't believe it
works. We know people are skeptical in the beginning. We're just so happy that you're back.
If I had a dime for every person who didn't follow and then came back and ended up being
successful, like I think I love that. But what happens is you'll get a lot of people who are
like, this doesn't work, whatever, not asking for help, making statements. And then you click on their names. And then that's the first thing they,
they never said anything, never asked a question, never said anything. They've just shown up this
one time to complain about the program. And then us behind the scenes, we're all like, Oh my God,
how do we help them? What do we do? And then we realized that they're just kind of like,
they just want to be angry about the fact that now they're seeing people be successful and they
have a really hard time with that. We don't leave comments in the group like that. Um,
cause what happens is even if I kind of go in there and respond, and then you guys are also
like a lot of times of members will come in and then there'll just be a whole thing. And I'm like,
this is not how we want to spend our energy. Like ask the questions,
get support, all of that. But we're not into, it's so easy to fall into a negative mindset
when for a variety of life is hard enough, um, than having to deal with people who are complaining.
Um, so we don't really keep those comments around. We try to give back some nice feedback,
but then if it ends up being like this back and forth thread, we're just like, no,
that's not really helping anyone lose weight. It's not helping you lose weight. We like to really just stay focused
on, um, helping people lose. Mary, I'm a week behind because of my vacay in Tuscany. I'm jealous.
Came home, still at my goal weight. Happy dance. Let me read that again. Let me read that again
because I want to help give you guys confidence over the summer. The way that have lost your weight it makes a difference it makes a difference you didn't starve
you didn't deprive you didn't force your body to burn fat when you wouldn't you didn't do any of
that which caused the body to feel the need to store fat and then store all that fat back plus
more you didn't happen that time so when you go on vacation you're going to find when you're able to sorry interrupt your come interrupt it's time
it's time i was just talking about mary who went to tuscany and came back and she ended up
maintaining her right say hi to odette say hi to kim you guys are you guys here are they here to
tell me it's time to go you're excited you gotta get up you put the timer over the us and said, you got to get up. You put the timer over the phone and said, time to go.
Wireless connection.
Okay.
Why don't you guys sit?
Grab.
Sit.
Grab.
Hi.
Say.
You guys have quite like, say hi to the team.
Let me scroll down to the bottom.
I keep my stupid iPad.
It's not working.
Um, have a great party.
Risa says, hi ladies.
Hey ladies.
Right.
Risa, more than the way to look in the mirror, I can't believe the change.
I have to take a double look.
You are so right, Gina.
You lose in layers, and so you look so much better.
Yeah, I love that.
I love that.
Do you have advice on what to do when other people can't see results, but you – when
other people can see results, but you can't?
That's a good one. That's a good one that's a good one that's really good yeah because I think it happens to all of us and we do that same thing we were
talking about the other day with uh redirecting the compliments you don't take the compliment
because you don't believe it so I I think you need to start saying thank you and then the next
time you look in the mirror think think about what that person said.
Yeah, you have got to get naked in front of your mirror.
That's what you do.
You do.
I think because, so first of all, you lose in layers.
Like when you don't lose, like when you do a starvation diet, you lose in pockets.
So you lose it a lot in certain areas.
And when you lose it in the program, you lose it in layers.
So it's like if you took the way that you've washed and smeared it all over your body, it's only going to be like a thin layer certain areas. And when you lose it, the program, you lose it in layers. So it's like, if you took the way that you've lost and smeared it all over your body,
it's only going to be like a thin layer all around.
And that's where people are like,
I can't lose it in my stomach.
But if you hold it in your stomach,
then your stomach's going to be like,
you are losing in your stomach area.
It's just that it seems like it's the last place to go.
And so I think it does take your brain a while to catch up to where your body
is at too. I think we're finding that even with, to catch up to where your body is at too I think
we're finding that even with we're learning that in with our maintenance members as well and
sometimes it takes time and repetition you need to hear it you need to say it to yourself over
and over again yeah and it's not going to come right away but you know it becomes a point if
you're practicing it remembering what people are saying looking at yourself in the mirror and saying
it back to yourself it'll slowly start to catch on well and also we're doing a when we're saying talk telling them how we're doing
the maintenance program there's a part where we're going to talk about like accepting the new you
embracing the new you and there is a disconnect where you might not see it just like how you when
you gain the weight and you don't notice until you look in the mirror or you see that photo of yourself and you're like,
Oh shit,
I didn't realize this is what I look like.
It's the same,
but in reverse.
So your brain,
it takes a while for your brain to get caught up.
This is what you have to specifically go looking for it.
You have to look for the change.
Like you have to almost convince,
get your brain to see it because if you're not seeing it,
your brain,
it's going to take a while for your brain. Yeah. Yeah. I think buying new clothes too. Like that's a big
one. I think a lot of people say, I'm, when I get to my goal, I'm going to, and they're waiting for
that magic number, that goal before they buy new things. And I think, you know, what Tanya is,
we'll talk about buying something that makes you feel good now. And it doesn't have to be expensive.
It doesn't have to be a lot of pieces, but just go and buy something that fits you because if you're constantly wearing big clothes
not only is it going to look frumpy on you and not sort of accentuate your figure it's also going to
it's just a constant reminder why would you feel differently if you're dressing the same if you're
looking the same you're literally wearing the same outfit so until you put even if it's one size half size different well like in summer
dresses yeah love it yeah i think almost too like people are resistant to seeing it it's like you
don't want to see it like you want to see it but you don't believe it yeah so you're not like you
need to feel it like believe it convince yourself you've done it. Yeah. Right? Yeah.
That's true.
Naked in front of the mirror and see the true you.
The legs that carry you through life.
