Say it ain't so, our final mid-week motivational check-in.
Hello, hi Odette.
How are you feeling?
Good. How are you feeling?
I'm feeling good.
I'm excited. I always love the end of a program. As you feeling? I'm feeling good. I'm excited.
I always love the end of a program.
As you know, I used to get really sad,
but now I actually get really excited.
It's a huge accomplishment to show up for 91 days,
whether you're in the weight loss program or maintenance program
and prioritize yourself and do your best sometimes
as life is just smacking us in the face.
And so I really want to focus on those
vibes, right? Like I love to reflect. I love a good debrief. But it's summer and you know,
I know our members worked so hard. We've had a lot of really incredible conversations and
it feels like it's time. It feels like it's time. I feel like it's time too. And you know,
we've been saying for a couple weeks that you know,
it seems quiet in the club in the club.
Quiet in the club, quiet in the group.
Yeah, you know what's going on.
And then but I think people are feeling calm.
I think they're feeling like they're ready to go out and maybe give things a try on their
own, ready to just you know, step away from the group and dip
their toes into whatever they've got planned for the summer and give things a go. And,
and a comment that we read that I read this week was like, I'm, I'm ready to give living
the Libby way a shot over the summer and, and see how it goes. Because I know that I have this support group or I know that if it doesn't go the
way I planned, that it's not all a lost cause.
I still have a place to come back to, to reinforce habits, to get back to routine
and do those things.
So that's what I'm excited about.
I'm excited about members.
They have, you know, we've been telling them like, it's gonna come,
it's gonna come and now that they have they believe it, they're willing to give it a try
versus no, no, no, I have to, I have to do what I've always done. I have to stay in the
safe spot. They're willing to get out there and give it a go. So that's what I'm really
excited about. Yeah, test it out. I mean, in the weight loss program, people are going
to be personalized in the plan throughout the summer to continue to lose,
or some maybe are making a conscious choice
just to kind of hold it down and maintain
before they hit it hard again in the fall.
And I think it's no different here in the maintenance program
or after every round of the maintenance program.
You might be someone who only needs one round
and you feel like, okay, I got it,
and you just want to go and continue on your own.
Or you might be someone who feels like, Oh, you know what, I think I'm going to do another round
of the maintenance program until I really feel more confident. Regardless, you're going to go
this summer and personalize the plan to work on maintaining and sustaining your weight. So while
you are in an active phase of solidifying your weights, you do want to minimize any challenges, right?
You want to still stick to the same kinds of foods on the food plan.
You don't want to be adding in this, adding in that, falling back into old habits.
But it doesn't mean that you can't enjoy the summer.
If you do find yourself indulged, get back on track.
It's as simple as that.
But it's your opportunity to see what you got and see.
But maybe you still need to focus on, right? And you
might find that you're just like, wow, this maintenance thing
is easy peasy. I've got this throughout the summer, or you
might be like, Oh, holy shit, I still have more work to do, in
which we will see you back in September, September 8, for the
start of our next program. Speaking of club where you can
go in between groups, if you are looking to stay part of the community,
stay motivated, continue to have a place
to get your questions asked and answered.
You can always join our summer club as well.
That is not just for members in between weight loss groups,
it is also for our members in maintenance.
That's where our team is gonna be.
We're gonna have some fun motivating segments
to help keep you on track,
regardless if you're looking to lose or you're maintaining.
Yeah, I think that's a good point because we've had some members saying, you know, what's
the program like in the summer club? What program am I following? And we just want members
to know it's not a program. It's not structured. We're going to be there for support if you
need it. We're going to have some fun along the way. We've got some guests already lined
up just to come in and have some fun with us. So it's not a structured program and that's why it is for everybody. It's just to stay within the
community and have a place to go. And I think we've been saying a lot, you know, have a plan. What
do you want your summer to be? You know, how do you want your summer to look? But I think you also
want to make a plan. We've talked about plan B. So where are you, what are you going to do if things
aren't going quite the way you want them to go and you're recognizing it? You know, are you going to do if things aren't going quite the way you want them to go? And you're recognizing it. Are you going to listen to some old podcasts? Are you going to come back into this
group if you haven't joined Summer Club? Are you going to come back into this group and review
information? Now, the team's not going to be here. There's not going to be anything new, but the
information will stay. Or do you want to be engaged and with the team and with other members that are active
in the summer club? I think you want to think about that too. Think about where you want to be
in case you need a bit of extra support, a little bit of extra, whatever, a little bit of extra.
What's your plan for that? Yeah, and I'm sure you've already posted the link if people are
interested. They can go to our website, Livy Method, and read all about and get yourself signed up for the summer club if you're interested in that.
The one thing that you don't need to do is sign up for the next maintenance program.
Yes. So as many of you know, with the structure and how it's evolved, you paid one price, you got in,
you have access to the maintenance programs as many as you need in the Facebook support group for as long as you need. So you do not need to register again or sign up again for the maintenance
program that will just automatically start September 8, probably a week leading up will
be coming in here posting and reminding you that it is starting up again. We still do
not have an app, although we are looking to have an app or thinking ready to go for the spring.
We are still actively working on that and you can continue to use
the app in general tracking mode if you want to keep using the app.
Yeah, that was another question we've been seeing a lot about.
Do I need a new code to unlock the maintenance app?
Do I need a code to unlock the general tracker?
The answer to that simply is no, you've got it.
You've got it. It'll just slip unlock the general tracker? And the answer to that simply is no, you've got it. You've got it.
It'll just slip over to general tracker for you.
Which sounds crazy because who does that?
But you happen to buy in at a time where the living method
maintenance program was evolving.
It originally started as a group with no structured program.
Then we took Ruth Kane's data and we created a 91 day
specific maintenance program. Then we took Ruth Cain's data and we created a 91 day specific maintenance program.
And now we have one group for that. That structure will change in the future when we do have an app
for anyone new. They will pay per program just like you paid per program in the weight loss
program. So I know that might seem too good to be true, but you were smart. You bought in and you are here now.
So you have access to as many group as many programs in the Facebook
support group as you need.
So yeah, and I think this is it.
This and this pause right now.
This summer pause is also just want to let member like new members
because we're going to have members that are hitting their goal in
the next few days or have already and they're coming into the
maintenance group.
And this is a time to really settle in,
see how the group was laid out,
see how it's the same as a weight loss group,
see how it's a little bit different,
read through that maintenance guide,
see how the guides are set up,
get yourself really comfortable
so that when September 8th rolls around,
it's a familiar place to be
you know you're coming with fresh eyes but you're coming into a place that's familiar and
comfortable so that's what the next few weeks is also really great for especially for those
new members that are brand new and wondering what the heck is this place where is everybody what's
going on so they can do that get themselves comfortable and get settled yeah i mean for them
it'll be like how you did your weight loss program where you
might have joined the Facebook support group before it started.
And there were some posts and stuff to review, but it all started on the start date.
And so the next maintenance program will start on the same date as the weight loss program.
Both of them are starting on September 8th this year and then go over 90 more days.
Yeah. So nice, easy, simple place to be.
So the other thing I wanted to talk about
rounding out this program
and rounding out these last three months
is I really wanted to bring up the topic of celebration
and celebrating.
I think it can be really easy to get caught up in the doing,
doing all the things that you forgot
what you have already done.
And you forget, you know, to really reflect on that.
So we have that amazing giveaway in the group this week.
And the theme is to let us know what you're proud of.
So whether this is your first time
through the maintenance program,
or whether you've been here for a little while,
we've been asking our members, you know,
what are you proud of?
And this can really be the ultimate motivator,
you know, we love to talk motivation on Wednesdays,
it's gonna be the ultimate motivator to remember
how far you've come just in terms of the maintenance group
and the maintenance program.
And going through and reading some of the comments
that members are leaving,
one of the biggest ones was recognition and acceptance.
Like I recognize now when I'm starting to spiral,
I'm recognizing now when I'm allowing those old habits
to come back in.
I'm recognizing now that the belief is not
that there's something wrong with me,
I just need to get curious and take action.
You know, that's that was one of the biggest themes in there.
Like who thinks who would have thought like from a,
you know, a weight loss program and a maintenance program where you are
following a basic food plan and, you know, you're making these choices.
But moving beyond that and be able to recognize, you know, really
recognize the changes that you've made. And I think that was, I loved reading that. I
loved reading that members are having that awareness, that recognition they're learning
along the way. I think that was really powerful.
Yeah. And it's just, it's just so important to take time to be proud of what you've accomplished
and really be able to see that because you
pull into your life what you are thinking about and what you believe and if all you
believe is that you messed up, you didn't do this, you didn't that, then that's just
kind of how your brain functions.
And it really is great practice to be focusing on the things that you're proud of because
you're more likely to continue that behavior.
So it's so beneficial in so many ways.
Something else a member was saying, not one, many,
I pulled out a few common ones,
was prioritizing myself without guilt.
So number one, recognizing when I need to do that
and doing it anyways, getting in there,
taking care of myself, prioritizing myself
and not feeling guilt
or shame about it. I think that is such an important accomplishment too. You know, it's like when you,
the end of the, when you're doing the survey results, you know, that you did last group or
the groups prior, and one of the results, you know, we're talking about non-scale victories in the
weight loss program. It's like, you know, my relationship with food and, you know, those non-scale victories.
And now here we are in the maintenance group
and our whole goal is to learn how to maintain
the weight that we've lost, to just live our lives.
And that's the goal, but what we're pulling out
of what people are really doing are these common themes.
Recognition, prioritizing themselves, opening
the space to allow new beliefs to come in, having the confidence to give things a try
that maybe they were too, you know, afraid or unsure of to try before. Like those are
some ultimate non-scale victories, you know, yeah, okay, your weight has stayed within
this comfortable range for you,
but these other things that you're proud of,
these other areas, I mean, those are just,
those are the massive wins that we wanna bring to light.
Well, I'll give that as part of the homework.
First of all, I see Kath, hi, Kath, and Sue.
Sue's saying, where do you comment
on what you're most proud of?
So you can do that over on the giveaway post,
but I would say, you say, point out the obvious
and then look for the not so obvious.
What's one not so obvious thing that showing up
and doing this work has led to you being proud of.
And it could be like having an honest conversation
with a friend or not stressing in a change
room the way you used to or bringing a salad to someone's dinner.
Like it could be the not so obvious things, right?
What's one not so obvious thing that you're really proud of?
Yeah.
I think that's...
And that'll just give them the opportunity
to go a little bit deeper.
And just to add on to Sue looking for that,
I did link it in today's check-in.
So if she's not wanting to scroll through,
for anybody that's not wanting to scroll through
on today's check-in that's pinned to the top,
I've linked the giveaway right in the copy.
So they can click right there.
It's super easy to find. Of course you you do that's how I would want to find it
I would want to be able to go there and be like, where is this post? Oh, here it is
I can just click this link. So there you go. That's right there for you to enter
It's time for today's podcast sponsor and this is a company that I can feel good about
It's bombas. Did you know that socks are one of the most requested items
by organizations supporting people experiencing homelessness?
Yeah, socks.
The thing most of us take for granted every single day.
That's why I love bombas.
They make the most comfortable socks in the history of feet.
Seriously, once you wear them, you'll never go back.
And for every pair you buy in Canada,
they donate a pair to someone who
really needs it. Same goes for the insanely comfy underwear and tees which just so happen to be the
most requested items by shelters. So far Bombas has donated over 150 million clothing items.
That's not just doing good, that's doing real good. But let's talk about how they feel. Every
sock, slipper and tee is made from the soft, dreamiest materials. The underwear, effortless, the t-shirts, they're going to
be your new fave, and the socks, game changers. Especially if you're working out, walking
lots, or just love a cozy vibe, they even have compression socks if you're into recovery
mode like me. And the best part, Bombas has 100% happiness guarantee, meaning you can return, exchange anything,
anytime, no questions asked.
So if you wanna feel good and do good at the same time,
just go to bombus.ca slash livi,
use the code livi, L-I-V-Y at checkout
for 20% off your first purchase.
Again, that's bombus.ca slash livi. And don't forget to use the Libby discount.
All right. So what else do you want to say? I want to, I want to give you the floor here, Odette. You've been running these groups for the last couple of years.
You know, everyone behind the scenes should know that Odette puts her heart and soul. Like it's all Odette. It's all Odette all of the time. I show up, we have our talks.
As I've shared many times before, some of my favorite conversations are taking place here
in the maintenance program. But how are you feeling at the end of the program?
I love our members, but I'm ready to take a break.
If you want to know the truth. But I'm not I'm just shifting over to the
Summer Club. No, that's I do love our members. And I love this time of these last few weeks
of the program when we do talk about it being quiet, it's a real reflective time for me.
And I think where are they? What are they doing? Are they out there living their lives?
And then you catch one or two comments like, yeah, they are that is What are they doing? Are they out there living their lives? And then you catch one or two
comments like, yeah, they are, that is really what they're doing. It almost seems to, you know, bring
it all together. And someone like, like Kath, who is here today listening, I mean, Kath has been here
for so many of our lives. She's so vocal in the group. And to see even where she was, you know,
12 weeks ago, and that's just one example. So there's so many examples of our members.
So I love to see it all come together.
And I love to go back and see where they were 12 weeks ago,
even a year ago for some of them.
And you remember them and you carry them through.
So this is a real, these last few weeks
are a real reflective time for me.
And sometimes you think, is anybody here?
Is anybody listening? And this is the reflective time where you know, sometimes you think, is anybody here? Is anybody listening?
And this is the reflective time where you know that they are
and you know that they are picking up
what we're putting down and they're learning.
And I think one of the biggest things about this group
that we've said before and about maintenance,
it really is about learning.
It's really about being curious
and having those aha moments
and not just letting things slide,
but having that awareness
and being able to learn from those firsts of anything,
first holidays, first vacations, first stressful time,
first time you have to navigate something
that's uncomfortable.
That's what this process is about too.
It's the learning and the being curious and teaching yourself
how you can come out on the other side without, you know,
knowing that you don't have to go back to old habits.
I really love this time.
And I think the summer is just another one of those opportunities.
It's, you know, we're like, oh, it's the summer.
Here we go. It's, you know, we're like, Oh, it's the summer. It's here we go. It's going to be amazing. And it's just, it's
another chance to for learning opportunities. It's another
chance to learn how you're going to navigate those situations.
Let me ask you this, because I know, like me, you have learned
so much about maintenance, especially from our members, we've
all been in this all together when we started this a few years ago. What's
something new or something that surprised you this group about maintenance?
This group we had far less members talking about the scale. That's what I
noticed. We had far less members talking about the scale. That's what I noticed. We had far less members talking
about the scale and if they did talk about the scale, it was always in a, it
wasn't in a, they weren't questioning why is my scale up, what am I doing wrong. It
was like my scale is up because of these reasons. They were just sharing or oh I
weighed myself today and
it was the scale was exactly where I thought it would be. So there's less talk about the
scale, which I'm really surprised about because I think our members can really hold onto that.
Some members can really hold on to the scale being that measure of success. And we've really
seen less of that. And it's more of a reflective
experience getting on the scale versus an experience that is more of a dictation telling you,
you know, how you should go about your day. It's helping you reflect on maybe what you did,
what you want to do. And, you know, sometimes it's also just a confirmation like, Oh, yeah,
I knew the scale was going to be like that today, up or down. So that's what I've really been surprised about this group is that less,
I don't want to say freaking out, but less like, you know, being held by the scale,
being dictated by the scale. If you could choose one word to describe this spring summer maintenance program, what would you use?
This one word, oh my gosh. Glad you got me today because I'm in a good mood. Could be
the F word some days. But it's not that today. I would say there's a real awareness this group, I think, even when we're talking about,
like I just said with the scale, like they're, they're more aware of what's happening to
them, what's happening around them, our members.
So there's a, there's this awareness factor.
I also feel like there is, I thought I wanted to use the word curious, but I don't think
our members are quite there yet. I know we've been using the word curious, but I don't think our members are quite there yet.
I know we've been using that word a lot.
I don't think that they are.
I think there's an awareness.
And I think that calmness came to a few of our members
a little bit earlier than I would have anticipated.
So maybe there's that feeling of awareness and calmness.
Okay, I'll give you two words.
You know what other word I wanna use?
I wanna use the word savvy too.
Like our members are coming in here and they are like,
they're smart, they're ready, they're reading the post,
they are engaged, they are taking in the information,
even though our group, the comments are a little bit less
and the question, we have very few questions,
like it's more reflective, more sharing.
So I think our members are savvy. like they're like, Yep, I'm
gonna, I'm gonna take this in, I'm gonna learn it, I'm going to
put it into practice. Yeah, members are are a bit more savvy
this round, too. That was three words. So that's your favorite
favorite comment or question.
I just read one today, actually. so it's fresh top of mind.
Somebody was commenting about being off all their medications.
I think it was blood pressure medications.
And it was only in brackets, like it was no big deal.
Like, oh, I'm so proud of this, this, and this,
and off my BP meds.
So I'm assuming BP is blood pressure.
It was brackets off my BP meds. And I'm assuming BP is blood pressure. It was brackets off my BP meds. And I was
like, that is massive. That is such a massive thing to be proud of. So I love those. I love
that members are still sharing those types of comments. Like, I went to my doctor, I'm
off my cholesterol. I went and you know, saw my doctor and they said this, I love those
ones. I love those victories that are really reaffirming to the changes that you're
making to your foundational health. I love that. Where do you think the maintenance is going?
What do you think the conversation is moving forward? I think the conversation is going to
expand to anybody that's ever had to lose weight. I think it's not it's not about losing your weight after the living method.
I mean we know that that's what members you know most of our members do and that is what makes us
different than anything else. It's not losing your weight after the living method. Maintenance is
actually the living method. It's part of the living method. It's not something separate.
So I think this maintenance part of the living method is going to grow into anybody
that needs to adjust their mindset,
that needs to learn to trust themselves,
that need to learn everything
that comes with being somebody new.
Like you don't have to be a brand new person,
but anybody that is having to accept that they're a different person after weight loss through any diet. I think that's where the maintenance conversation is going that it's not just about keeping your weight off. It's not what it that's not what it's about.
It's about really shifting that mindset. And I think that's where the conversation is going. It's about maintaining your weight, but it's also about knowing and accepting who you are now.
Favorite week.
Oh, my favorite week is always for me or for members. For you. For me, my favorite week is
always the revamp because that shakes people up a lot. You know, Their digestion can change a little bit. And they're still, even at this
point in maintenance, they consider it such this massive change. And it's not. And I think
when they see that as the week goes on, I think that that's a great week.
Yeah. If you could book any guest, one guest to come on in the maintenance program, who
would it be?
Who would it be?
Oh man.
I mean, can I say Harry Styles?
Cause I'd love to talk to him, but I'm not sure anybody else would appreciate that.
You could read our whole maintenance manual to us.
He can, you know, he could have an audio version of the maintenance book.
Yes.
Yes.
You know, I listen to Harry every night, pretty much, whenever Tony's sitting right there.
He's also not listening.
But he'll put, he'll be like, do you want Harry on tonight?
I'm like, yeah, I do.
I listen to it.
Not, there's so many other, you know, people on that calm sleep app thing, but I just listen. I've tried to
listen to Matthew McConaughey and none of them. I can't. There's something about Harry's voice,
but sorry, I digress. Back to the question, who would it be?
Who would it be? Somebody from our current roster, you think?
Just anyone in the world can come on and be a guest and talk, talk in the group. Who would it be?
Um, well, this might shock a lot of people, even you, Gina, but I would love to talk to Dolly Parton.
She is somebody that has come from not a lot. She has self-made. She has kept this persevering manner about her, where she's this mega star,
but she's also kept this quietness about her. She's had to go through a lot to get to where
she's at. So how did she do that? How was she able to be this big, massive star,
still be able to lead the life that she wanted,
which was very personal and private,
and how did she do that
with all of the influence around her?
What lessons could she teach us about the people around us
or the pressures of the outside world
or the pressures of expectations
and still being able to have this authentic light
with still having to accomplish so much and do so much.
Oh my goodness, I love that.
I also love her.
That'd be a great conversation.
All right, Odette, final words.
I know you're gonna be checking in each day,
but this is gonna be our last check-in together.
What do you wanna say to all of our members
who've been joining us week to week for our
Monday and Wednesday check-ins?
I know many of them will be back in the fall, but what do you want to say before we go today?
I want to say that these lives and these check-ins are really what give us so much energy.
They give us, you know, I know this is our last check-in together, but if we can, if
these members that join the conversation and feel like that they can have their say, I know this is our last check-in together, but if we can, if these members that join the conversation
and feel like that they can have their say,
I think is what really drives us here in the group too.
The members that engage, the members that share,
even if you don't have a question,
you just want to come in and reflect and share,
I think that's what really makes this community
and this group extra special.
So I just want to say that, I said, we'll miss everybody,
you know, because we won't be checking in here specifically over the summer, and this group extra special. So I just wanna say that. I said, we'll miss everybody,
because we won't be checking in here
specifically over the summer,
but we're so excited to get going in the fall
and have that energy come back
and have these lives start back up again.
And that's what I'm looking forward to.
And I want members to know that they can give it a go,
give it a try, have the summer that you really wanna have
and take that awareness and take that recognition with you.
Dip your toes wet.
If the water's too deep, take your toe out.
Yeah, well, this is like you just, you gotta live it.
This is who you are now.
This is who you are now.
This is who you are now.
It's too late, I can't go back.
You're not on a plan, you are the plan.
But I think that's the takeaway from this round.
It sure is.
Once again, thanks everyone for joining us.
We appreciate you so much, honestly.
Odette and I absolutely are in love with the conversations
that we get to have here.
And we love when you join in
and we've learned so much from all of you.
And we hope that you have also in return
learned so much from us as well.
I'm already looking forward to our September group.
If I don't see you, have a fantastic summer.
If I see you over in the summer club, I'll see you over there.
Otherwise, have a great rest of your night, everyone.
Thanks.
Thanks, Odette.
Goodbye. It's time for today's podcast sponsor and this is a company that I can feel good about. It's
Bombas. Did you know that socks are one of the most requested items by organizations
supporting people experiencing homelessness? Yeah, socks. The thing most of us take for
granted every single day.
That's why I love Bombas. They make the most comfortable socks in the history of feet. Seriously,
once you wear them, you'll never go back. And for every pair you buy in Canada, they donate a pair
to someone who really needs it. Same goes for the insanely comfy underwear and tees, which just so
happen to be the most requested items by shelters. So far
Bombas has donated over 150 million clothing items. That's not just doing
good, that's doing real good. But let's talk about how they feel. Every sock,
slipper, and tee is made from the softest, dreamiest materials. The underwear,
effortless, the t-shirts, they're gonna be your new fave, and the socks, game
changers. Especially if you're working out, walking lots,
or just love a cozy vibe.
They even have compression socks
if you're into recovery mode like me.
And the best part, Bombus has 100% happiness guarantee.
Meaning you can return, exchange anything,
anytime, no questions asked.
So if you wanna feel good and do good at the same time,
