Episode Date: July 9, 2025Welcome to your Midweek Motivation! In this episode Gina and Odette reflect on what it means to truly own your summer while staying grounded in your goals. They speak to the power of pausing, checking ...in, and realizing you're not who you used to be, even if some old fears creep back in. From redefining what summer means to you, to recognizing that feeling good can actually be uncomfortable, this conversation reminds listeners that progress isn't just about the food, it's about trusting themselves, especially when life feels a little less structured. They also share updates about the Maintenance group and the upcoming Summer Club for those looking to stay connected through the season. You can find the full video hosted at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/ginalivymaintenanceandmindfulnessTo learn more about The Livy Method and our Maintenance & Mindfulness group, visit livymethod.com. Okay,
I'm glad you're bringing that energy. I feel like we need it.
Right? Yeah, I think it's the the heat is so draining. And then
we're not drinking our water and we're dehydrated and it's zapping our energy. Like, yeah, I think you know, we're just
talking behind the scenes that mornings are so much easier. I think we get up, it's the mornings our energy. Like, yeah, I think, you know, we're just talking about behind the scenes
that mornings are so much easier.
I think we get up, it's the mornings.
And by the end of the day, like,
I think our bodies are like, what are you doing?
It's summer, sit your ass down.
Yeah.
Come on now.
I feel that I'm sitting in front of this big window
and like it's, the sun will be on my face
and you know, then I'll be feeling really great and excited.
And then the sun will go down like behind a tree.
And I'll be like, oh, I'm getting out of here.
And then the sun will come back and be like, oh,
here we go and get going again.
So I feel like it is that summer energy.
Like it's the type of weather that I love and this vibe that I love
but at the same time it's hard to you know keep that excitement and keep that energy all day so
I don't know what it is well you know in company news I was just talking to Tony yesterday but
maybe trialing a four-day work week uh in the summertime oh right, right. Because like, same thing, we just or like, start earlier and end earlier, right?
Like, yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, I think I think that can really apply, yes, to a workweek, but to to anything really,
like, you know, find it trial and error, find what works, find what's find what makes you
feel the best.
Well, and that's where the thing like maybe you're noticing you're naturally feeling
more tired in the evening and then people fight that because they should stay up or
you're waking up wide awake at like 536 but you think, oh my goodness, it's not time for
me to get up now.
So let me lie in bed some more.
Maybe that's your body's natural circadian rhythm.
That's like, all right, let's go.
Let's get our ass.
We got some good morning energy
and that can change season to season.
And when we talk about being even more in tune
to your body's needs, everything in our lives
are like so structured,
but not to optimize our health and wellness.
And so when you're checking in,
like every single meal and snack time
with personalized in the plan this week
and trying to be even more in tune with when to eat and what to eat and how much to eat.
It's beyond food and maintenance, right? Remember you're designing the life you want to live. It's
all about creating the habits and the lifestyle that supports the weight that you've lost and who
you are now and the changes that you've made. And maybe you're no longer the person who sleeps in,
especially if your ass keeps waking up and you keep fighting it. Or maybe you're no longer the person who sleeps in, especially if your ass keeps waking up and you keep fighting it.
Or maybe you're no longer the person who stays up late
or the person who eats late.
Like I'm finding more and more, I cannot eat late.
Which reminds me, we're gonna have dinner tomorrow
at like 5.30.
Yeah, so this is our big staff weekend party.
And so Dad's gonna come in the city
and I'm gonna see her and Kim and whatnot.
And Tony's like, what time do you want dinner?
Like seven, eight? I'm going to see her and Kim and whatnot. And Tony's like, what time do you want dinner? Like seven, eight?
I'm like, hell no, no.
Like 5.36 and then Odette and Kim can go off
and party all night if they want.
Like I'm going to go for a swim at the hotel
and I'm going to go to bed.
Yeah, I feel like Kim and I will not be partying
all night long.
I think we're going to be very excited
to scooch into our beds, find a murder mystery
and just gab for a few minutes.
Last time we were together, I know this has nothing to do with helping people in maintenance,
but this is real life and listening to our bodies.
So the last time we were together, we had these grand plans of going out for dinner
and having a night on the town.
And we ended up going to the grocery store
and getting a few snacks.
And we each got, we were in the same hotel room.
We got into our respective beds and we had our snack
and we turned on like a half an hour crime show
and we didn't even make that.
But we woke up the next day.
I'm like, I'm not sure what happened, but I feel amazing.
Yeah. Right. Yeah.
It is it's about maybe that's not who you were before. But
it's who you are now. And that's, you know, a big part of
really like owning who you are at. Like this is that who's who
are you now? This person's that lost the weight but maintaining
your weight when you summer? Who's that? Who's the Gina?
That's as healthy, you know, in tune,
in touch person? How does Gina summer? Right? Is she out eating chips every day and down in the
drinks? Or is she, you know, getting up early, maybe doing some, I started a morning meditation
last couple weeks, you know, where I'm getting up and if I'm not in the mood to work out,
which is fine, I'm not putting the pressure on myself, I'm going to grab a tea.
And then I go outside and I just kind of sit there, not on my phone, not listening to music,
just nice and calm and quiet until I feel like, okay, like, I'm awake, let me get through
my day.
So this is like so much more than the food part of it.
It's personalizing.
The plan is like really get in touch with you know
the changes that you've made and who you are now and what works for you doesn't
work for you in life. And I think we're having you know we're also having this
conversation around fear this week and how it can hold you back but how it can
also propel you forward and I you know I and our members have been very quiet
this week and and you know know, around this topic.
And I'm wondering if they're almost fearful to want to believe that they have a different summer story now, or they have a different story period now.
You know, like, it's not that they're afraid that they're going to make the wrong choices.
I don't think that's what it is. I mean, there's our members are so savvy and so smart. And they've, you know, been doing this for a while. I mean, I wonder if that
fear is like, I don't want to believe I'm going to have a different story. I don't know what that
story is yet. So I don't want to go there. I don't want to accept it. I don't want to make these
changes. So you're really just thinking about, you know, when we're thinking why we don't want
to make changes, or why we don't want to maybe step into personalizing
the plan or why we don't want to step into this new story,
writing this new story, is there, you know,
a little bit of fear there?
And then we got the thinking of, you know,
the sphere of failure is a common story.
You know, the sphere of failure, like, you can be like,
okay, well, if I fail, I just go back to my comfortable comfortable place i just go back to that chapter i've already been in before i don't have to write a new chapter.
But if i take everything i've learned and i do well and i'm successful.
I don't know what that next chapter is i don't know what that story is i don't know who that person that summers this way is. I don't know what that story is. I don't know who that person that summers this way is.
So it's almost like they're, you know, I'm not saying this is what they're doing. But this is how where my thoughts are going this week with our members. I wonder if it's that fear of success
now, like fear of failure can feel more common. But fear of success, and actually stepping into
that chapter into that story might be something that's brand new
and could be holding people back.
Yeah, because it's work still, right?
Like it's work still and that's like,
you might not be ready to accept and you're fighting it.
Like you're waking up every morning at six o'clock
and you're fighting it.
Meanwhile, like every morning at six o'clock,
you keep waking up and you're fighting it. not realizing like this is who you are now.
Yeah. This is who you are now. I love that your summer story. We got that last summer.
I remember I was at my friend Lynn's and the tree house lady, I call her. That was a great story.
Lynn had done the program and she had reached out randomly
to Tony and said, Hey, you know, I want to give back.
I'd love to offer up my tree house for the weekend.
And so she has this, I mean, she used to rent it out.
She doesn't anymore.
It's like a beautiful tree house.
There's a cabin and just, it's amazing.
There's like a pool and it's just like, ah, heaven on earth.
And I normally would never have gone, never ever ever ever would I ever
have accepted a strange person. Although although she was a Libby loser, I get that would never
have been like, yes, let me go to this person. I don't know his place for the weekend. And Tony
randomly was like, Do you want to go? And I was like, Yeah. And he was like, What? I was like,
I want to go. Because funny enough, I had been following her
and I didn't know it was her,
but I had heard they were no longer renting out
the tree house and I really wanted to stay there.
And I'm like, ah, man, okay, fine.
So I just stopped following.
Cause I'm like, I didn't wanna see it every day
because I can't go there.
And anyway, I went and you know, many years later,
we are like the best of friends and I absolutely adore her.
And you know, just stepping out of your comfort zone.
It's not something I would have done, but I just felt like for whatever reason, like
I knew this was the right way to go.
And this is where if you don't know, like feel it out, right?
Like you spent so much time being in tune to your body's needs, you know what works
for you and what doesn't work for you.
But I remember I was at her house and I was doing a thing with Dr. Dina Kara Schaeffer
and she said that, what's your summer story?
What's the story?
What is your summer story every year?
What's the story, right?
And how does your story need to change
and what's gonna be your story this summer, right?
Thought that was pretty profound.
Yeah, I think what's profound about that too,
is that this is something like you said
that you would never have done
or didn't think that you would have done it.
And then you did it and it worked out.
And I think if you had done it and it didn't work out,
there's something to be said in that as well, right?
There's something to be said and like,
oh yeah, I tried it.
It was out of my comfort zone.
It wasn't the best,, I gave it a shot and
look, and then you take something from that at the
same time. I think this is where like, just give it a try,
right? Just dip your toe in just, you know, feel it out. And
you might decide you want to jump all the way in and you
might decide, you know, that, you know, particular thing
wasn't right for me. I think that is exactly what this is
about to, you know, you, you might be thinking like, I don't
want to deviate from this plan. I don't want to have to trust
myself. I don't want to do that. But just if you give it a go,
like we were saying on Monday, if you just put it into action,
yeah, no, you might surprise yourself and you might actually
end up pushing yourself through that place that you didn't want
to be come out on the other side and be like, Oh, this is actually a little bit better
over here.
Look at me. Look at me. It's amazing.
It's time for today's podcast sponsor. And this is a company that I can feel good about.
It's Bombas. Did you know that socks are one of the most requested items by organizations
supporting people experiencing
homelessness.
Yeah, socks.
The thing most of us take for granted every single day.
That's why I love Bombas.
They make the most comfortable socks in the history of feet.
Seriously, once you wear them, you'll never go back.
And for every pair you buy in Canada, they donate a pair to someone who really needs
it.
Same goes for the insanely comfy underwear and tees, which just so happen to be the most requested items
by shelters.
So far, Bombas has donated over 150 million clothing items.
That's not just doing good, that's doing real good.
But let's talk about how they feel.
Every sock, slipper and tee is made from the softest,
dreamiest materials.
The underwear, effortless, the t-shirts,
they're gonna be your new fave, and the socks, game changers. Especially if you're working
out, walking lots, or just love a cozy vibe, they even have compression socks if
you're into recovery mode like me. And the best part, Bombas has a hundred percent
happiness guarantee, meaning you can return, exchange anything, anytime, no
questions asked. So if you want to feel good and do good at the same time, just go to bombus.ca slash
liby, use the code liby, L-I-V-Y at checkout for 20% off your first purchase.
Again, that's bombus.ca slash liby.
And don't forget to use the liby discount.
You have made a lot of changes,
not just physically, mentally, in how you think,
in how you feel, and how you act.
And just like it can take your body time to catch up
or your mind time to catch up to where your body's at,
right, like there's a lot of change
that you've been in the pursuit of change
and you've noticed change, but at some point,
you have to like embrace the change
and really see how it's changed you
and who you are now and what you need and all of that.
And that's not an easy thing to do.
So I can see the hesitation.
I can see that.
Yeah, it's not an easy thing to do.
And I think having this maintenance group too,
this is the place where we can talk about that
and be transparent with that and talk about next steps.
I think this week too,
it might be bringing up this feeling of like,
oh, I'm almost at the end.
I almost have to go it on my own, you know?
We still have a week and a half here
of these conversations of these posts.
And just like in the weight loss group,
we don't just leave you hanging,
be like, well, see you later, good luck.
You know, we talk about what's to come, how to find that right place for you next time, whether it's coming back and doing
another round or whether it's, you know, starting to move on to maintaining whatever it might be.
So I think, you know, this week, I think brings up those feelings like, Oh, I'm at that point again,
where I thought it was done before, because I lost my weight. And now I'm at another place where I'm,
Oh, I'm done again, you know,, and and just as they were nervous, maybe about
coming to this journey, this part of it, they're recognizing
it's like that future tripping we talked about, they're like, I
don't know what's to come after next week. I don't know what's
happening. What I should do after that. So I think this week
brings up some of those feelings, too.
Yeah, rightfully so. And they should. Yeah, they should.
Right. So we have this week and then next week. And then we're
going to shut her down for the summer. But if you want to join us over in our summer club,
that's where the team is going to be there answering questions, trying to get you motivated,
whether you're losing weight, maintaining weight, and then we're going to start up again in the fall
is going to be our next maintenance program. And that I think is September 8th is the date.
It is. Yeah. So we'll start hearing up a little bit a couple days before that,
make sure everybody's in the group and comfortable and knows how to navigate everything. But,
you know, we start up again and get going. And with this renewed, you know, this renewed sense,
that beginning of the group. And we always say, I don't want to talk about the fall already,
but I always feel like September is the new January, you know, it's that it's that fresh
place to be. I feel like it's this. It's that fresh place to be.
I feel like it's, I don't want to say it's a transition time,
but it is the transition time,
but September I feel like is the new January.
I do.
I feel like it's-
With that pressure of like, oh, it's a new year.
I have to make all these changes.
I have to be a better me.
I have to do all of this.
And it's, you know, January comes with its own set of,
I mean, January's, sometimes
I feel January is actually 95 days long instead of 30 days long.
Where September it like comes and you're like, wow, this is a refreshing month.
This is an exciting month.
Where January is like, oh.
Maybe it's an older mature thing, but I find it's felt like that for a while now that like
the fall is the new, new year, right?
Like it just feels like the new year,
the January I'm like, yeah, whatever. Like, you know, you're hungover from the holidays,
and then you're starting and just back into life and you're busy. Whereas the fall is like,
I don't know, to me, it's like a fresh start to I quite like that. That's the fall is the new January.
Yeah, I agree. I agree. So I think that's you where our members are at. I think that they're there. They've learned
so much they've been putting down so much of what we've been
picking up. But they're also feeling that that, you know,
that new that end is coming that new place is coming. So I think
that's where a little bit of that coming to do. Yeah. All
right. What else we got going on? Anything else?
No, that's really it. I mean, we I really wanted to talk about this this topic of fear and just have members
Really reflecting on that and you know, where is that coming from? Is it success? Is it failure?
Is it just trusting yourself? But if you're saying like, oh, i'm not ready to to trust myself yet. Why be curious
I think they say be curious all the time. So be be curious with that. Don't shy away from you know, really
Don't shy away from the information know, really, don't shy away from the information
in the post this week, because you are afraid of what they're going to say, or they're you're
afraid it's going to resonate with you. Well, whatever thoughts and feels that you have coming
out gives you a great indication of where you're at. Are you ready to go on your own and move on
just live life? Or do you feel like you're going to need to come back and join us again in the fall?
You need that you can need to join us over in the fall? You need that you're going to need to join us over
in the summer club, right? Which is, by the way, in the fall, if you're already a member
of our maintenance program, you have access to the information here in the Facebook support
groups. You don't have to join another group or anything like that for anyone who's asking.
We're just going to put a pause after this group is done and then we're going to come
back in and get to posting and answering your questions when the new maintenance program starts up in the fall. But I think that's it. It's like it's right in your face,
right? Like where are you at? Like what are some of the thoughts and the feels that are coming up?
And that's the work for you. That's the work for you. And usually it's a lot deeper than you think.
Or what are the things that you know you should be doing that you're avoiding? That's probably
the work for you as well. When there's this, it's interesting because there's this perceived sense of lack of structure when it literally
this week has all the structure, checking in at every single meal and snack time, following
all the guidelines in the sense of the components at meals, you're pooling from a specific grocery
list of snacks and whatnot. You're still having the protein at breakfast, still getting your water in, still asking the four-month-old eating questions. You're still doing everything.
But just the thoughts of the perceived lack of structure or the thought of having to trust
yourself is really messing with people. Right? And so that is stuff. You want to go there
if that's your feelings. I mean, what's that all about? Or you might be feeling, I got this, like, wow,
look what I've done.
I'm feeling really super confident.
Like, I've got this,
and I'm not worried at all about the summer.
I know I can trust myself to make good choices for myself.
I'm actually excited to move this along
and just get to living my life.
That might be where you are.
Yeah, let me read this comment from Linda here.
So just
to write on this point that you said it came up at the right time. She said, so excited to make this
live. I wanted to share how I'm feeling this time around with personalizing the plan. I'm so ready.
I learned so much my first maintenance group reflect on how on how I've evolved through my
eight past programs. Each program I had a favorite tweak
as I shed my old mentality with my relationship with food
as well as with me.
I'm ready full on for personalizing the plan.
No more doubts or fears as I have all the tools.
Thank you for being so, so much
and as well as the community and your team.
So I think like this is exactly it.
Like you, if you're not feeling ready now, that's okay.
It's okay.
You're not ready.
Like I learned so much and now I'm ready.
You know, you can't feel like you're ready right away.
Is that Linda?
I don't have my comments.
Yes, Linda. Yes, yes.
First of all, Linda, I mean, this is everything.
This is why we do what we do.
That is just like, that's it.
But for anyone else, if you're not feeling like Linda,
you probably still have work to do.
And there's no shame in that, right?
That you want to highlight that and be
able to work through all the things.
And then maybe Linda will have stuff come in her lives
where she'll have to sit back and be like, OK,
what's going on and learn how to pivot and navigate
that and whatnot.
But if you're wondering, where am I at? Right? Do I need to do another round? Do I need
to join the summer club? Whatever, unless you're fucking feeling like Linda, chances are you'll
probably benefit from joining the summer club from doing another round of the maintenance program in
the fall, right? Because this is exactly the energy you want to have. Fucking right. Yeah, heck yeah. I'm feeling calm, confident. I got this. I am ready. Like, like, let's go already. And oh, my God, that just that
makes me a whole day. That honestly makes my whole day. That makes my whole day.
And that's what we want. Like you like you said, that's what we want for everyone. And
if you're if you're not sure it's there's no rush. I know we've said that before. There's
no rush. And then we want to be there so bad. We want to feel that feeling so much.
You know, and I still have days where I don't feel like
I don't have that feeling, you know, when you're like,
oh, I feel amazing, I'm doing it.
And then you're like, oof, you know,
maybe today's not the best day, but it's this,
I think it's this commitment to being ready.
It's this commitment to knowing it's going to come
and believing it's going to come.
And I love this for Linda and I love it for other members
who are just, who are there
and they're feeling that same way.
And for the members that are not there yet, like you said,
if you're not sure, that probably means
that you just need to stick around.
And you're here already,
you're in the maintenance group already.
Like we'll just see you in the fall again.
There's, you know, you don't have to re-register
at this point, you don't have to do anything.
Just, you just come back. So take your summer. You know, if you want have to re-register at this point. You don't have to do anything. You just come back.
So take your summer.
You know, if you want to be in the summer club with us, do that.
If you want to give Personalizing the Plan a go, you know, on your own, do that.
And then we'll see you in the fall.
Yeah, well, they should be Personalizing the Plan regardless.
Yes.
Because that's how you're going to move forward in your life in between programs.
And then also, if you're ready to just go, right, just trust in when to eat,
what to eat and how much to eat.
That's all about know that you have the tools and the skills to be able to indulge
them, bring it back and then just keep moving forward.
And if life smacks you in the face, you know how to react.
If you fall back, you know how to, you know, move it back forward.
Like that's that's it.
Oh, I'm so happy.
What a great way to end. Well, on that note, next week,
I know the weight loss program, we focus on maintenance. So next week in the maintenance
group, what are we focused on? We're focusing on next step. So we're, we're talking to those
members that maybe need to do another round of the the maintenance program, how you, how you want to figure that out.
We're going to talk to those members who are maybe ready to move on from the maintenance program,
start testing things out, really move on to that second. It's all part of the second stage,
but it's maintaining. So how does that look? How does that testing things out look?
And then we're going to talk to those members that are ready to just go live their lives.
Just go live the living way. Take
the learning with you. Take the principles with you. But you have, you know, you've been here for a
while. You've done the maintenance program. You've done testing things out and learning from that.
And now you're ready to just move on. And where do they still fit in with this maintenance group?
Where do they fit in here? And, you know, how do they take that learning with them? What are
the principles that they want to remember? And what are the guidelines they want to keep
following? But how do they just go live their lives? So that's what we're going to be focusing
on.
Yeah, wait. Yeah, that'd be fun. And I'm also looking forward to seeing you. So I get to
see Odette and Kim's gonna come and our whole team, we're getting to hang out with our whole
team in person. This weekend, everyone is flying in getting together so that's super fun.
Thanks for everyone who joined us live for listening after the fact. Oh, dad, thanks. I'm
really excited honestly where our members are at. This is a good place to be for sure. Thanks,
everyone. Have a great rest of your night and we'll see you next time. Bye.
