Welcome to Weigh In Wednesday. We are back after taking a little break.
Weigh In Wednesday, all about weighing in on all things maintenance.
Joining me today is Kim.
She is the manager of our Weight Loss Program. And Odette, who is the manager of our maintenance group.
Hello, ladies.
Hi.
Hi.
Hello.
How are you?
I missed that intro music.
I missed it too, right? Yeah. It was nice to hear it again.
Maintenance, one of my favorite conversations. We are back just after the holiday. So where are people at? What are we discussing today?
Is that a question for me? Yeah, I guess.
Well, first is welcome back.
I'm so happy.
I said, you know, I miss that intro music.
I missed your faces.
I missed this conversation.
I missed our members.
So it was great.
I had a great holiday.
It was a bit weird this year because I feel like I celebrate Christmas. So Christmas came very soon after the last day of school.
So I feel like we didn't have like this, you know, any ramp up or any holiday. It was just busy,
busy, busy, busy. And then we didn't have time to settle. So once Christmas actually came and went,
Christmas came and went, then we had some time, some downtime, some time to come down. So that
was nice. So how did you. So how did you guys do?
Did you guys do well over the break?
I know, Gina, you traveled.
Yeah, 12 of us.
12 of us, three different countries.
In two and a half weeks, we went to Singapore, Bali.
It was fabulous.
It wasn't a vacation.
It was an epic family adventure.
So I came back mentally renewed and excited and tired AF from like a massive jet lag going on.
But great adventure for the whole family.
My mom went, kids, Tony's parents, Tony's brother and their family.
I mean, it was really great.
I really needed to have an opportunity to kind of just take a step back from my life.
I barely posted on any of my social media. I was like, I'm sure people are running where the heck I was, but,
uh, yeah, it was a nice little break. It was a nice little break. Yeah. It's gray here. I,
it's just, I heard that it's just been so gray. Um, something like, um, less than 24 hours of sun
from December to like right now. So it's just been like gray and dreary. So we were
lucky enough to have a lot of sun. Yeah. I think we're going on day like, you know, 922 of a gray
sky. I mean, I sit in front of a window every day and I'm like, it's, it's just gray. So it'd be
nice when that sun comes back. It's like, we, it's almost as if we need a snowfall just to kind
of break the, you know, have the clouds go away and just get some sun.
I don't even mind if it's cold.
We just need a little bit of sun.
So that'd be nice.
What about you, Kim?
What's going on in BC?
BC, it is the same.
I see somebody made a comment on here.
Gray AF.
Yes.
Yes.
We are the same in BC.
It is supposed to, we're supposed to get really cold on Friday and there is a chance of snow. And I think the
same thing, I really hope, cause it just brightens things up. We got some snow on Monday and, but it
quickly turned to rain. So it was sunny for maybe an hour and then it sucks. It is really hard.
It's, you know, you're, you're coming out of all of this, these things like Gina, especially you,
you're with the traveling and I'm sure there's other people that traveled like you did over the
break. And then you come back into this gray weather and you're already trying to
pull yourself out of this sleep deficit and the time change and all the excitement and then
the gray weather. And it seems like it's dark so early, but, um, yeah, I feel like we're,
we've got to be getting close to spring soon, right? Yeah. It's a contrast. Is it like this
new year I was talking about in the live today for my weight loss group. I'm totally in for the new year, new you. I'm all about it. Like what a, like I love a great reset. I love an opportunity to take a, you know, reflect and take a step back and make some plans for myself. But what a contrast to like the time of year. It's like, I don't want to do fucking anything. I just want to lie in bed and watch movies all day. Like, yeah, yeah. Here I am getting up and working out and doing all these things.
But yeah, it's true.
Like coming out of the holidays,
you have this, like you said,
this renewed sense, like it's January.
And as much as we say,
like January doesn't need to be about resolutions,
but it does feel like a refresh,
like a restart.
You know, it's almost like I can leave behind
what I kind of did to myself over the holidays
if I did something to myself.
And I can, I have this renewed energy and, you know, have to look past those gray skies and, and, you know, and
just move on and just bring that energy here. We'll bring it three of us will bring it.
We'll bring it. Well, I think, yeah, setting intentions to do things. And then you're greeted
by dark skies in the morning, dark skies at night. It's a little extra challenging to sort of stay on
top of those intentions that you set for yourself when you feel like, wait, where did daylight go?
Yeah. Let's remind people to take their vitamin D for sure. Yeah. Um, yeah, you know, the,
it's also an opportunity to like this year, you guys know, for me, it was really hard.
And I thought I could wake up in new years and be like oh yeah new I cried for like three hours I think because the year was so difficult that I wanted to
move past it but also did it at the same time you know so I think it's sort of like there is
something to be said about the the new year as opposed to like you know a new group or you know
how you feel in the fall which I love the fall because it's like a like, you know, a new group or, you know, how you feel in the fall,
which I love the fall. Cause it's like a totally, or, you know, in the spring when everything's
like blooming and whatever, I think there was something heavy and big about new years, I think.
And then coming off the holidays, cause it's, I think you're so emotional because you're around
family or friends or what it's supposed to be. I talked to so many people who are like
big plans
for the holidays, but then their kids were sick and people, they couldn't travel. And then just,
it wasn't what they wanted it to be. So it's a lot going on there. Is this one of our topics
today? Are we even talking about this today? Yeah. Well, I was going to say like, and I think
that, I think what, what we just, what we're just coming out of, I mean, that's determining what our
approach is going forward, you know, into this month.
Excuse me.
I'm one of those people that got sick over the holidays.
It's still lingering.
You know, what's your approach, you know, coming into January?
Is January going to be a time where you feel like you have to fix everything that you did
in the last few months? Like,
do you feel like you failed or you let it go or you did something wrong? Is that your approach?
And you're feeling stressed out and heavy about it. You know, and the new year is lingering and
oh my goodness, I have to do all of these things. Or, you know, maybe can we switch that mindset
and switch that approach so that, you know, what happened or what you did
or what you left behind was a learning opportunity. Like I did these things, you know, and that's
going to help me make different or better or, you know, if it's a learning opportunity, more educated
decisions about myself to have a, you know, a better and a different 2024. It doesn't have to
be a big, you know, a a big difference but you know what's your
approach like how are you looking at this at this new time this new year this new you know this new
beginning if yet if you will i love that are you asking us or you're just posting yeah yeah well i
can tell you my approach but yeah no i'd love to hear your approach and i think for our members
too because we've been hearing that we've been hearing, you know, we've been seeing some of our members saying like, Oh, I really
wrecked myself in December and I have so much to do to make up for it. And, you know, I don't think
you have to make up for anything. I think you just, you know, you did what you did and now it's time
to move on. And, you know, we're all in this place of maintenance now where we have, we know what we
need to do. We understand what it feels like to feel good. So, you know, whether it's a little bit of back on track or whether
it's a little bit of, you know, just sitting down for the first couple of days and the first couple
of weeks and writing it out, like, what do you see? What is your approach? You know, how are you,
what mindset are you going to bring? So I think that was a, that was big for me. Like, I mean,
like I said, I got sick over said I got sick over I got sick in
December you know I had to take my son back to school which was much harder than I thought it
was going to be I was not wanting December or sorry January to come I didn't want that that
shift and that change I didn't want a new start because I wanted to hold on to that little piece
that I had so you know come January, come January. Yeah, go ahead.
No, I'm just thinking, yeah, like all the fields that come with it. I'm looking at this comment.
Hi team. First time on maintenance. I'm a rookie transitioning to this new stage of the Gina
Levy journey, trying to acclimate myself with faith and confidence. I got it. I think, I mean,
just when you get it, you get challenged. And that's the thing about being in maintenance is like, this is your first, maybe, um, holiday season you're going through,
then it's going to be your first, this, then your first, that, and it's, it's kind of like,
and the thing is that when you lose weight with the living method, cause you've been so in tune
with yourself, it puts you in tune with everything across the board, especially your feelings.
I say this all the time, what works for you, what doesn't work for you. And I think it like allows you to really dig deep and be like, okay, I don't need to focus on
weight loss anymore. And now I'm here to focus on maintenance, but it's also an opportunity to work
through the feels that like, whether you've lost weight or not, you're still going to have feels
about the holiday or do you know what I mean? It's just, it's, uh, it's interesting perspective. Um, when you're not
so laser focused on like losing weight and you know, that's the focus because it just allows
you, I think, to go deeper into the fields. I don't know. Maybe for some people, this might be
the first new years. They can remember that that wasn't the resolution. I'm going to lose weight.
Yeah. Yes. How many years have people been thinking their new year the resolution. I'm going to lose weight.
Yes.
How many years have people been thinking their new year's resolution?
I'm going to get healthy. I'm going to move my body.
I'm going to start taking care of myself. Well, members here have done that.
They've lost their weight. They're taking care of themselves. And you know, what do you do with that?
That right here and not to fall into those old habits with the fields triggering you.
Yeah. Because it's like, right. That's Melinda who said that, like, that's like,
yeah. Cause that's just what you're used to. Yeah. And then you, you, you let those feelings
consume you and then you're like, Oh, I don't want to, I don't want to move on. I don't want
to deal with them. I don't want to. And then it's like that, that carries on to other parts of your life too, and where you're going. So yeah, not, you
know, just recognizing them and recognizing that that is a trigger. And that is something for you.
I mean, that's huge in maintenance too. Like those, that comes from all the work that you did,
you know, in, in weight loss to be able to recognize that. And I love what Kim said. I
don't know if we read that in the weight loss group, or if we read that in the maintenance group, or, you know, just remember saying, yeah, this is the first time that I haven't made a, you know, a resolution to have to lose weight and get healthy. So what am I going to focus on now? If that's not exciting and amazing as it is can also be a little uncomfortable
because you haven't experienced it before. So what do you do with that? If you don't have that,
what am I going to use to motivate myself this year? And really the thing is you don't need the
new year for that motivation. You've done it. You've proven that you have that and you don't
need that date of the new year or the new group or whatever to kind of get yourself moving and motivated to reach your goals, whatever they are, their weight loss year.
Yeah, it helps. Here's another comment. I love January. It's birthday month for me and my
daughter. It's also a time to look forward to be positive to say thank you for the past year
and to be ready for a great year to come. Yeah. You know, to really reflect back,
my sort of approach this year is to like, just, I really want to do the things that I keep saying
I'm going to do and make some really hard choices about what I need to do because, um, you know,
the past year has been really hard. I keep talking about how I'm going to do this and that I quit
drinking recently. I mean, not that I wouldn't still allow myself to have a drink if I wanted to, but I've changed
my sleep habits, going to bed early, getting up early, working out, like really being like,
okay, I don't know whether it's because I turned 50 last year or people in my life died.
I don't know what it is, but I think I love the fresh start, even though I cried for hours,
new year's day about letting go of the last year. I do. I do love it. I think it's special. It only
happens once a year where it's a new year, as opposed to the fall or a new season, like the
spring. It's a, it's a new year. So my approach is to simplify my life, get really clear on what I want and want to focus
on and really prioritize my health and wellness and actually do the hard things and do the
things that I need to do and make real change.
And I'm really excited about it.
I think it's shift in perspective as opposed to I have to do this and I have to do that
or I should do this and I should do that. It can make a big difference, I think. Yeah, I think so too. I think my approach this
year is just, I've been trying to, you know, when you try and think what's the word I'm going to put
on this year, what is your word? What's your word? Well, I had, I had, I started with one and it was,
um, chaos. Like I want to just get rid, I wanted to get rid of any chaos, anything that brought me
feelings.
And from that, I thought, no, that word to me sounded heavy.
And I was walking around my house and I was like, that's chaotic to me.
That's chaotic to me.
You people are chaotic to me.
So I was like, you know, instead of like focusing on that, then I was like, you know what?
I'm going to start to shift it to acceptance.
Like, I'm just going to accept that, you know, there, there is the chaos. Yeah, like, you know,
and like, instead of change, instead of like thinking have to like make this huge change of
like, you know, getting rid of all the chaos, because I don't know, it just doesn't, it seems
like I want to have a bit more simplicity, which will come if I can just accept some of the
things around me.
Instead of trying to fight everything, I feel like I'm fighting a lot of things sometime,
whether it's in my personal life or the mess on my desk or whatever it might be, you know,
just trying to accept a few things.
You know, I accept that my scale has gone up a little bit over the holidays.
I accept that, you know, my house is a little bit messier.
I accept that maybe things didn't go totally perfectly this time,
but what can I take from that? What can I move forward?
And maybe that'll just alleviate some of the stress and negativity and maybe
the chaos won't be so chaotic. I can just look at it that way.
I love that.
There's so much to think about. So.
What's the opposite of chaos? Is think about so what's the opposite of chaos
is it simplicity what's the off like I don't know it's not in my I don't have it in my house so I
don't know I was just thinking that because I feel like my word is like maybe I don't like the word
calm because it's not always calm but almost chill or relaxed or something like that which
seems like the opposite of chaos,
but it really depends. Like you can still be calm and chill when things are chaotic around you. So
I like the acceptance word because I feel like, you know, I'm recognizing that and I'm accepting
it and I'm choosing to react this way, sort of, you know, a few steps there.
Yeah. Because that could be where you're at right now,
right? Like maybe it's working through acceptance. Okay. This is where I'm at.
Like I've been saying this to my kid, you're not going to change everything overnight. Like there's
a lot of things that you've got to do. It's not all going to happen overnight. Maybe that's the
first step is to break it down and be like, okay, this I'm accepting that this is where I'm at
today. And then that'll take you and help you move through other steps. And maybe there's going to be
another word. Maybe your word's going to be another word.
Maybe your word is going to change throughout the year.
Just like your why,
why you're trying to lose weight can change.
Right.
Mine is definitely,
I think to simplify my life,
I want to quiet the noise,
not necessarily the chaos,
but the,
the,
the noise and really just simplify.
I don't know.
Maybe there's something in the air about that for people
um i think they're all going to be on the same page or maybe it's because we work for the same
company i don't know i think well we all have teenagers too so i don't know yeah we do but i
think and for the focus if you'll notice it on social media, where people are at with the messaging,
like you were talking this morning about the body positivity. And then now there's different
things that people are talking about where you get to a part where you're like accepting something,
everybody accepts it, everybody's on the same page, and then we turn and we focus on something
else. So it could be something to do with maybe last year, a lot of people were focused on,
I'm going to do all the things I'm going to conquer this, I'm going to end this year, just realizing that, you know what, I'm not going to conquer everything. There is a lot going on, what can I do for myself, but I think every year and everything and every trend that comes across, we all learn a little bit more about ourselves. And,, you know, how to, how to manage that. So.
New year, new me season is here. And honestly, we're already over it. Enter Felix, the healthcare

Yeah, there's someone saying, listen to Gabby Bernstein, dear Gabby podcast.
She has amazing messaging.
We need to surrender.
Yeah, she's my new best friend, Gabby.
Yes, she is.
From the Orick Living Conference. Yeah, Just recognizing where you're at. You know,
I love that. How do you all manage dreary winter days such as today? Hard to get motivated to move
much today. I did notice the gray day. I think you have to acknowledge it and be like, fuck,
it's fucking gray. It's depressing.
I made a joke on my Instagram.
I actually shot a picture.
I'm like, where are we?
Like Forks, where's Edward from Twilight?
Do you remember that?
I like the movie.
It's all gray and rainy.
It's really strange how gray it's been.
I, you know, like I don't really have a great answer for that.
Be moody if you want to be moody.
And then also, you know, maybe find joy and glimmer in the grayness.
I don't really have a great response for that.
I'm feeling it to get up, working out, getting to bed early.
That's helping me.
What about you guys?
I think sometimes when it's this gray and you, I almost sometimes find myself fighting what I think is actually going to make me feel better. Like, I know that going outside is going to make
me feel better in the long run, but I don't want to do it because I'm using that that read like,
oh, it's gross out there. I don't want to go out there. And then you just go. So I mean,
it's not really an answer. My answer is just go and do it anyway. Just do it. Just do it.
But sometimes like I find myself fighting that, like, like the this and do it anyway. Just do it. Just do it. But sometimes like I find
myself fighting that, like, like the, this member said, like, how do you, you don't want, you're not
motivated to move. Like, yeah, I don't want to, but if I go out there for 10 or 15 minutes, I just
will, you know, maybe it's like, it is gray. Maybe it's just finding that light source. I know this
is going to maybe sound a bit crazy, but just finding a bit of extra light wherever you are, like what's in your house or if it's, you know, at work, like, can you just even find a window or can you just find some extra light?
I find just having some lights on inside.
It almost tricks me to thinking that it's a bit brighter.
You know, I know it sounds like it's not a great solution, but if it's dreary in the house, I just flip everything on and, you know, for a few minutes and it seems to help a little bit. I know it's not,
you know, it's not the sun, but it helps a bit. No, I feel like even just like you said,
the forcing yourself to get out there always helps because if you can get outside for five minutes,
I mean, I have to remind myself, I'm not made of sugar. I'm not going to melt in the rain when it's
raining here in BC, but I did get a, you know,
a new coat that's waterproof. So that probably helped make sure that, but I really noticed a
big difference getting outside. So it's very easy for me to make the excuse during the day
that I'm going to, I'm going to get outside after work. I'm going to go for a walk after work. I'm
going to get outside after work, but I know on the days when it's not, I really need to push myself to do it at lunch instead of waiting because in the afternoon,
when people are done work, it's dark by then. And it becomes that much harder. And if I go out at
lunch, I can usually tell myself like, Hey, do this now. And then you can curl up on the couch
and read a book after work instead of getting it because you've already done it. So, and maybe it's,
maybe it's like you said, Kim, like if you do this, then you can do this. Like maybe it's, it's reminding yourself
of that sense of accomplishment. Like I'm, I don't want to do this. I don't want to go outside.
I'm not motivated, you know, but I'm going to go there. I'm going to take a couple of deep breaths
and then I'm going to come inside and be like, yeah, I just did that, you know, and that'll
make you, make you want to do it again the next day or the next day. Yeah. Heather's saying I found hiking groups on Facebook makes a big difference to get out
with new friends. I think it's about I love that. First of all, I love that you went and you did
that, but also making a plan like last year was the darkest winter in like, I don't know,
80 something years. I forget what it was, but there was like, it's an actual thing where it was the darkest, uh,
winter in history for a really long time. And so in knowing, um, how the lack of sun affects us
and knowing, you know, the darker days and all of that is, is really maybe make a plan for yourself.
You know, is there anything that you do like to do? Maybe double down on it this time of year,
you know, set up meetings with friends. Yeah. I love the idea of meeting new friends. That's gotta be so stimulating and so fun, but you know,
maybe it's like, Hey, you call up another friend. It's been so gray. Why don't we make a plan to
get together each week and go for a walk together or go do this or grab a coffee or, you know,
something is just like in knowing that winter comes every year, maybe start
making a plan for it, especially if you struggle.
As I get older, the winters are harder.
I don't know.
I get comfortable.
Right?
I just gotta, I don't know.
Okay.
Outside is always best.
If all else fails, crank up the tunes and dance while you're prepping your meals.
Yeah, that's fun too.
I love that.
Yeah.
That's a great one.
Finding a little something.
Right?
Music is always great.
Music, I think there's a lot of science behind music can be very uplifting and getting you
in the right mood for sure.
Okay.
In the sake of time, because I see our time, what else do we want to talk about and cover
Odette?
Well, I want to talk about some
of these big changes that are happening in the group. So happening in the maintenance group,
and we've been listening to our members. And we've been listening to our not only our members
in the maintenance group, but we've been listening to our weight loss members that are coming to the
end of maintenance, sorry, that are coming to the end of their weight loss journeys,
who are unsure about maintenance, what does it look like? What is it? You know, how I'm going to know, how am I going to know I'm
doing it right? Or how am I going to know that I'm taking the right path. So we've made some
changes into the maintenance group. So if anybody is or the members that are doing another round to
solidify, they're going to feel really supported in the maintenance group as well. So all of these posts that we're posting
in the weight loss group, um, when we're doing the 91 days, we're also going to see them posted
into the maintenance group with a, but with a different intention and a different message.
So you're going to be able to do another round to help you solidify your weight,
but you're going to be able to take part in the maintenance conversation around the same topics. So already just three days in, we've seen our members be
so appreciative that of having these reminders and having these posts and having this guidance.
So that's really the biggest change we're going to see that there is going to be a bit more of
a guided program there for those that need it. It's slowly rolling out. This is, like I said, only three
days in. Again, it's going to be set up in weekly guides. So just like we have a prep week in weight
loss, we're going to have a somewhat of a prep week in maintenance. We're going to help you prep
that in that transition from weight loss to maintenance. It's not going to be a big jump,
it's going to be a slower rollout. So that's one of the biggest changes. And we really, you know, want to hear from our
members that are doing another round to solidify if this is, you know, something that's helping
them if they have feedback, if you know, this is, this is where we want to go with this,
we can have help support our members. Well, we've had so many, I mean, thousands of new members
added to our maintenance group in the last few months.
And, you know, so you may have missed the conversation, but there was a time where people kept asking me for a maintenance group.
And I was like, why?
I tell you everything that you need to know about maintenance at the end of the weight loss program.
And boy, was I wrong about that.
And I fess up to that a lot around here. I have, we have learned so much
about maintenance, um, the things that people need to work through and struggle through and
the conversations that we've had once you've lost your weight. Okay, great. But then there's a whole
big follow-up now. What, you know, um, like we said, like your first holiday season and your
first, you know, major thing
that goes on in your life and how do you cope and situational change and there's just so
much to it.
And so we are constantly thinking about how we can take our members input and, you know,
level up the support that you're getting and the information that you're receiving.
And eventually the goal is to have a maintenance like um, like a version of our app and to take
that, you know, rather than just repeating the program to solidify your weight, you would
actually do a maintenance program.
And so this is really the start of that.
So you are seeing that happen in real time and your feedback is going to be really important
in terms of us figuring out what we need to focus on in that maintenance program.
Right now, there's no maintenance program. There's repeating the program to solidify your
weight or personalize the plan. Those are the four stages of the living method. Lose your weight,
solidify your weight, work on maintaining and testing the waters, and then moving on and living
your life. So we wanted for that second stage of solidifying, we want to actually put a real
program together. Not only that, bigger than that, which is really cool, is we've actually had people join maintenance who've lost a lot of weight doing other programs.
Yes.
And so we want to be able to take people who've lost weight on other programs and help them learn what they need to learn in terms of maintaining their weight, which of course would mean them having to go through the program again in order to learn all the things that you guys who've lost your weight have learned. So, um, so yeah, so we're,
we're, uh, I'm really excited.
I think the stuff that Odette's put together is amazing.
It's going to be super helpful and really resonate with our maintenance
specific members. Yeah.
Yeah. We've seen, like, like I said, we've seen members, um, asking,
and you know, when you see a theme, you're like, there's,
there's something here with this, you know, there's something here theme, you're like, there's, there's something
here with this, you know, there's something here. Our members need a little bit more. What do they
need? And we thought, you know, we're 18 months in now. And, you know, at the beginning we thought,
well, they're going to come to maintenance and we're just going to do maintenance together.
We're just going to just, we're just going to do it. And these are the things we're going to
think about. And these are the things we're going to talk about and these are the things we're going to
talk about and then we realized no no maintenance is where the work happens now right and this is
where you know you can't just you can't give somebody work without giving them guidance you
can't give somebody a job to do if that's how you want to look at it without you know a manual so we
want to give them a bit of a manual like yeah you're going to do you know figure a manual. So we want to give them a bit of a manual, like, yeah, you're going to do, you know, figure this out and what it looks like and feels like to you. But we're going to just
help you figure that out a little bit, a little bit easier. Yeah, because I've figured it out.
I just got to get it in a way that we can give people the information to help figure it out as
well. You know, a little bit of guidance. And that's what makes the one of the reasons the
living method is so different weight loss wise, it's a guided program and process. So if we had a guided maintenance program and process,
then that would be a game changer for our members as well.
So someone's saying,
looking forward to accessing maintenance in the app.
Facebook sucks.
Yeah.
Don't even ask us how we feel about that.
No, you're reaching for the fire with that one.
It's been,
Facebook has been particularly special in in the last couple weeks challenging
challenging it likes to test us and it's you know we're getting really good at pivoting and rising
to the occasion um yeah so anyway that's what we got you on tap and plus i know you got some
great guests that you're looking to schedule you got some fun stuff slotted yeah so anyway that's what we got you on tap and plus i know you got some great guests that
you're looking to schedule you got some fun stuff slotted yeah so we're just yeah the wheels are in
motion so we definitely we've got a few already booked so we're gonna we'll talk about it as we
get a bit closer but we've got some booked we've got some ideas for giveaways around these guests
getting booked um and just yeah here for the conversations bringing our members back on
talking to them having you know having them weigh in hearing about their experiences you know we've getting booked. And just, yeah, here for the conversations, bringing our members back on,
talking to them, having, you know, having them weigh in, hearing about their experiences.
You know, we've had, we say this all the time, we have members that are brand new to maintenance, and we have members that have been around doing maintenance on their own for years,
and now in the group. So to hear from them, and, and it's, we want to hear from everybody,
you know, wins, we want to hear challenges. We want to hear lessons learned, you know,
we want to hear it all because that's going to help, you know,
other members that are, that are in the group and.
You could be experiencing the same thing. So it's an exciting time.
We just wanted to come on today and just, you know, have a conversation.
Welcome back. This is what we're doing this year. And you know,
what we're doing, what we're saying we're doing now could look different in 12
weeks, but we're just gonna, we're going gonna just go with it and and uh see what happens
yeah and we're gonna be weighing in on it every wednesday at 4 p.m um in which we also do invite
our members of maintenance come join us um we uh have a lot of amazing conversations
no doubt yet to be had um it's nice to be back ladies it is it
is nice to be back i've accepted you all are we done yeah you know what no i have a question
actually i had a member question i'm gonna put you guys both on the spot because you're both
travelers um i had a member ask about jet lag and if we have any tips to get over jet lag,
it's not maintenance related, but you guys are both travelers. You know, I don't leave.
No, I showed you what I know. I always said jet lag really is dehydration because when you fly
the water, like it sucks the water out of you. Um, not to sound extreme or alarmist,
but that's pretty much what happens is why your face gets swollen. Your ankles are this big and whatnot. And, um, so definitely get on the water, um, is so huge.
And it's, I've been back for a week now and it's taken a week to get hydrated. My pee was like
fluorescent yellow. Um, and, um, yeah, that, so, so we got back, so we were in Hong Kong and, um,
so it's like the 13 hour difference. And so we got back and we did a night flight and then we got back. So we were in Hong Kong. And so it's like the 13 hour difference. And so we got
back and we did a night flight. And then we got back. It was like night here, but with the day,
what would have been there. And so we're all like, we all got it. We got to like,
try to get to sleep. And of course, then we're all awake. And like three o'clock in the morning,
the kids are making noodles. And so the next day comes and we're all like, okay, we got to stay
awake. We have to pull an all day or we have to pull an all day
or let's stay awake.
Well, two o'clock in the afternoon,
one by one, we all pass out.
Tony missed his chiro appointment.
We all wake up at 12 o'clock at night.
We're like, fuck, we fucked it up.
Like it was really hard.
And I think you just have to allow your body
to do its thing.
I think resetting with daylight. So one of the things I think you just have to allow your body to do its thing. I think, I think resetting with daylight.
So one of the things I think that helped me start getting up at five o'clock in the morning
and working out now is the jet lag.
So I just, I was up, let me take advantage of that.
But getting out, resetting with the sunlight, getting outside when, if there's sunlight
and, you know, getting that sun and kind of resetting that way i think is a
good way to go but other than that i don't know i'm i'm still suffering i there was like two days
ago i didn't know what day it was like yeah i did read it speaking of sunlight i know we're
pressed for time and kim i would let you give your tips too but yeah that's right i've been
reading a lot about you know in the last, even about exposing your eyes to natural light, like sunny or not first thing in the morning really helps to,
um, you know, reset your circadian rhythm. So maybe that's it. Maybe just open your eyes and
get to a window. Yeah. What about you, Kim? You got any tips for me? Yeah. Water. Yeah,
definitely for like the water, I think is a huge one, because I've noticed since joining the program that recovering from flights and how I feel even just like getting sick after traveling and stuff has improved so much for me. So I think water is a huge one. But I, this is not my tip. I stole it from somebody else. But I do know somebody who now lives abroad and travels back and forth a couple times a year
for a long period of time. And they do a little bit of a sleep training thing with themselves
because of the huge time change, which is similar to your time change. And actually, before they go
in either direction, they start to in slow increments, go adjust their schedule a little
bit. So it's not so black and white.
I think that only applies when you're traveling, like you said, where you're like a 13, 14 hour
time difference, whatever, a large one, the small travel that I do back and forth between
the West Coast and Toronto, having the few hour difference. My big tip is set timers for yourself,
because when you are have jet lag, you have no idea, like you said, what day it is and what time it is.
And just making sure that you get yourself on a little bit of a schedule,
but you might need to ease into that schedule.
So I come back and I'm eating lunch like two hours earlier than I normally do.
And you kind of have to be okay with that and, you know,
meet yourself halfway and gradually acclimatized to the time change. I
think that's a big one. Yeah. Yeah. Now we're done. What day is it? It must be Wednesday.
Cause we're here. Cause we all showed up. We did it. Yeah. It's good to be back, man. I,
it is so good to be back. I did the live in the weight loss group
today. I'm just like, it's a, I just fucking love talking about this stuff. I really do. Um, and as
you know, my, like just these maintenance conversations, um, as, as I know, we're going
to get into them as we go. Um, I just, my favorite. So, um, yeah, it's good to be back ladies.
Yes. It was a great live by the way i think if anybody um
is interested it should be available on podcast now and it was a good one i i swore a few times
did we lose the members i didn't even check i don't think the team really liked when everyone
was all fired up they listened to you we were all very motivating we loved it that's my my resolution to be me to to be me and you've got to just i will accept you as you are
yeah oh that's my word now now it's sticking now it's sticking well i would stick around for the
compliments but we gotta go um thanks everyone for for joining us and look at the comments,
