The Livy Method Podcast - The Question to Ask Before You Blame Yourself

Episode Date: August 24, 2026

You're doing all the things, the water, the greens, the protein, the walking, the sleep, and the scale hasn't moved in months. Gina opens with a message from a woman who's been stuck in the same five-...pound range since February and asks the question most women in midlife are afraid to say out loud: what if something is wrong with me?The answer: nothing is wrong with you. The plan that worked two years ago isn't the plan your body needs today. She unpacks why weight loss stalls in perimenopause and menopause, how hormones, sleep and stress quietly change the equation, when it's time to get your bloodwork done, and why eating less and less is almost always the wrong move. This podcast aligns with Aug 24th of our Summer Club, members can find video in our Livy Method app or Summer Club Community Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/livymethodspring2026 Hosted on Acast. Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm going to be honest with you, this podcast is unapologetically a hot mess because that is what midlife feels like sometimes. Why, though? And how do we make it better? Do we all just need facelifts and g-lp-1s? I mean, let's talk about it. No bullshit, no wellness wangery here because we're trying to make real change and change is hard. But we're in this together. Welcome to the Livy Method podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:25 Hey there, before we get into our conversation today and no doubt it's going to be great, I want to remind you. I want to remind you that we have the most amazing weight loss program and maintenance program on the market. And our next live session for the fall is on sale right now. But if you don't want to wait until the fall, you can sign up today by joining our membership. For more information, go to liby method.com. Good morning. I am here.
Starting point is 00:00:54 I just, my sourdough timer just went up. So hang on just a second. Grab that. How are we doing? It's Monday. I thought me like had my shit together this morning. I was like, oh, I'm ready to go up early. And then I don't know what happened.
Starting point is 00:01:08 My day kind of fell apart. I think I got caught up in the Facebook. Ooh, Facebook comments. She needs a little bit more time. She needs a little bit more time. I'm going to throw it back in for a bit. Not so brown. I think there's something wrong with my heat.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Are you a baker? Did you do sour bread? I started. I started after I visited my friend Lynn, my designer friend Lynn, who wrote the design section, the home section in my new Indigo book. And I stayed at her place. And we were just chatting and talking away. And she just got up and started making bread.
Starting point is 00:01:49 And I'm like, what the fuck are you doing? She's like, I'm making sour dough. So she gave me a starter a while back. I think I'm on like six months. I think that was in January, February. So she gave me a starter. And I did quite well with him. Of course, my first few were like total bombs.
Starting point is 00:02:06 And then, yeah, I really got into it. And then I went away a few times. And after I went away a few times, it just, my sourdough starter just kind of wasn't working the same. So she just gave me a new one and then back at it. Let me just log in. I was actually just in the comments. I want to. One, six, five.
Starting point is 00:02:27 Okay, let me just. Okay. I was just in the comments. I was reading some of the comments. Some of you getting back from vacation, your weight up only a few pounds, some of you hitting your lowest lows, feeling fantastic. And then some of you kind of struggling with your weight and where you're at. So there's a comment that I want to come on.
Starting point is 00:02:46 I'm just on my iPad here, trying to log in and see wherever we're at. There's a comment this morning. Where is it? Is it Miranda? Okay, Miranda. Good morning. Still think something is wrong. So I want to respond to this comment that I want to talk about the fall group and how to navigate that.
Starting point is 00:03:05 There was a comment the other day from someone saying they were really loving personalizing the plan and only having their one afternoon snack. And then how do they do the fall program with that? So I'm going to get into that in a sec, but I want to read Miranda's comment. Still think something is wrong with me. Even though I feel great, the weight just isn't coming off. I've stayed the same one to five pound range since February. And I keep going through the list. sleep, stress, movement, water, eating the greens, proteins, healthy fats, vegetables, all of it.
Starting point is 00:03:35 So this is the case of I'm doing all of the things and yet you're not seeing the movement on the scale that you would like. I just saw someone posting on Instagram and I'm sorry, my brain is a little bit fried these days, posting on Instagram how they had been doing the program and hadn't lost any weight in the last six months. Anyway, they did a deep dive with her doctor and And it turns out they had some health issues that they started to address. And now that they have, they're now starting to see their weight move. So this can be very frustrating. If I had some context to this, I'm right.
Starting point is 00:04:09 I'd love to have you on it and chat it out. If you're actually watching, maybe you can jump on and we can chat it out. I think you can request to join the conversation. So I'd love to know sort of what your weight loss is to date, sort of like the time frame of that. because when they say one to two pounds a week, that is on average throughout throughout how much you've lost. So for example, if you've lost 100 pounds in a year, you didn't lose one to two pounds a week, probably. You probably lost more in some weeks, less than other weeks. But the average for the year was about one to two pounds per week if you lost 100 pounds in the year. See what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:04:50 So it's not like you shouldn't expect to lose one to two pounds every single. single week. So I would go back and be like, okay, when, like, how much have you lost? Does your body need time to adjust to the weight that you've lost? But you're talking since February. So one, if you've been able to maintain your weight within that five pound range, that's amazing. So it could be that everything you are doing is helping you to maintain and sustain your weight, but it's actually not tipping you over the edge to help your body focus on fat loss, right? So that's sort of the difference between our weight loss program and our maintenance program. Sometimes we think we're doing all of the things and therefore my weight should be dropping, but it's specific things that you need to focus on and do.
Starting point is 00:05:35 So I would definitely go to the doctor, get your blood work done and see what's going on. See where you're at in terms of menopause, right? What's happening in your hormones and whatnot? Because you could have lost weight quite easily in a previous program and then all of a sudden you're starting to go through menopause or you could even be postmenopause like I'm having some hormonal issues right now and I was feeling fantastic basically since February. So kind of what's going on there with your hormones and of course you know what's going on with your stress movement wise. So that's something where maybe now you need to get into you were walking and you're being more active than you were before but now you need to kick it up a notch and start lifting some some heavier weights. Portion wise sometimes what can happen is we get
Starting point is 00:06:18 used to what we were doing before. And so this is where I would, and again, I'm just throwing a bunch of different things out. I would just love to talk to you personally about this and really get into it. But a lot of times people get stuck on what they did before and they're doing the exact same things. So you're still doing a lot of things, but you're doing the exact same things that you did before when your weight was dropping, except now your body is different, different season, different things going on in your life and different things you then need to focus on. So for example, let's say you ate the same, like you had one egg and, you know, some fruit or something, whatever it was for breakfast or you're eating the same salad for lunch, right? And now maybe you are working out more.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Maybe you're like, you know, I've started working out. I'm doing the weights. I'm doing all. I'm way more active now than I was before. Yet you're still eating that one egg a day. When now you might need two eggs or need to add so you know bump up the carb content with that right so that's where you really want to fresh eyes is like where am I at right now what's going on and really digging into those foursets and some mindful eating questions because you do want to pay attention to not only what you're eating but how much you're eating while you're focused on fat loss right but sometimes it's not actually eating less and less and less or that's something that someone's doing they're trying to eat less and less and less rather than getting in tune with what they're
Starting point is 00:07:44 body actually needs. I did agree, not a troubleshooting session, but it was kind of like, it was when I, when I sit down with clients, what I go through with them and trying to figure out like where they're out right now, what's going on in their life, what they need and all of that. So the same thing with supplements, right? You could be taking your omega three and your vitamin D or your whatever and you just kind of like get in the same dose when you need to, you know, increase or decrease some of those. Just kind of like fine tune for where you're at right now. Try to bring some fresh Isaac, if you were to start right now today. If you want to follow up on that conversation, I would love to continue that conversation
Starting point is 00:08:21 if you happen to be watching this. Okay. Now, this goes along with the question that I got asked. Let me see if I can find out where that is. It was on my main page and someone was asking, they were saying, I got really, like, I've really come to enjoy personalizing the plan, you know, eating my one afternoon snack and now if I go back to the fall program I'm going to have to start all over again so I just want to address that so the following the structure the the structure the routine the method so the
Starting point is 00:08:55 method behind the liby method is working with your body not against it also challenging your body and all the tweaks that you're introducing each week right so it is like hardcore actively chasing change. So if you're still looking to lose weight, this is where following the liby method and doing another round is ideal because it's not just eating less or exercising more. It's so much more than that. Personalizing the plan is effective. So let me just say that. If you are enjoying personalizing the plan and your weight is continuing to drop, you want to do the full program, but you want to continue to personalize the plan, you can absolutely do that. You're still going to benefit from all the content, all the information, utilizing the app, listening to the guest expert.
Starting point is 00:09:38 You can get absolutely the conversation will still be relevant to you. But it is for sure a benefit to challenge the body again in ways that we do with the tweaks that we're introducing each week. Those are an opportunity to dig deeper, to level up more, to challenge the body. So it's a great idea if you are not done losing your weight to go through another round of the program. And if you have a hard time doing that, maybe you're not as motivated. That's the question of why. Why am I not as motivated to challenge my body? It's kind of like if you were working out, right?
Starting point is 00:10:13 And you were doing your routine and you're like, I love this. I have a certain routine. I really like it. It's great. Except that when you do your workout, if you're going through that routine, if you're not trying to get your heart rate up a little bit higher, if you are not trying to lift a little heavier and challenge those muscles, you're going to kind of stay the same. So that's why we're personalized in the plan.
Starting point is 00:10:38 You definitely still have to make sure you're digging into those four sets of mind-bleeding questions. You still have to make sure like you're moving your body. You're managing your stress. But not in just go through the motions way, like in a way where you want your weight to move, right? And that can be that can be more difficult to stay that motivated with personalizing the plan.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Whereas with the tweaks each week, you actually get to see the challenges like when you do downsizing, right? those thoughts and feels pop up again. Food waste issues, food scarcity issues, feeling like you're on a diet, like being concerned of not eating enough or eating too much, right? When you are personalized the plan, it's much more, it's much more comfortable state to be focused on fat loss, which is great, which means you have to recognize how to challenge yourself. Whereas a tweaks each week, just bring up that those, they're designed to bring up those thoughts and feels, right? Right. So downsizing will do that, feeding the metabolism, splitting up your meals and snacks, constantly really addressing that food noise where you take the food noise of you can't stop thinking about food all the time. Then you have to think about food all the time. It kind of like gets in there and switches up your brain. So the following the tweaks week is really great for addressing food noise.
Starting point is 00:11:56 But if you are, if you're weight, you're personalized and the plan and your weight is dropping and you feel great and food noise isn't an issue for you and you feel like you've done this enough that maybe you brought up a lot. lot of issues and whatever, you can totally continue to personalize the plan and still have all the benefits from the program using the app and being part of the community and all of that, right? So, so there is some great area. It's not the kind of all or nothing. There's some great area. This is all about what do you need to focus on, right? What are the things that you need to work on and work through and whatnot?
Starting point is 00:12:25 Okay, let me get back into the group and see what you guys are saying and where you're at. Good morning. Good morning. So we have some great guests coming out. My goodness. Yes, we've got a busy week with conversation. So one of the things that we're doing with the program, same, same great content, same super effective program. We're just expanding on the conversation.
Starting point is 00:12:44 More and more, I've been saying this forever. Whenever I have an opportunity to meet, my ears are itchy. It's driving me crazy. I think it's like a menopause thing. Every time I have an opportunity to meet our members, we're never talking about weight loss. We're always talking about what's going on in their lives and things that they've overcome and done and whatnot. So we are our same old guest. Our resident guests are going to be joining us again this fall,
Starting point is 00:13:07 but we're also going to be introducing a variety of other conversations on a variety of other topics that are relevant to our journey. So we've got some great guests. By no means you have to be listening to all the lives. You never need to, and you still don't need to. But they're going to open up the conversation. Okay, first time, Granny here. Hi, Elsie.
Starting point is 00:13:26 How are you? Congrats. We had our granddaughter, Guinevere, Elise, was born on the 11th. Oh, that's so great, good for you. I've been so busy being a granny that I've been completely off track. Just for all of you that aren't grandparents yet, it is totally awesome. It's the absolute best. If you have teenagers and they are being difficult, just remember that one day they might bring beautiful grandkids.
Starting point is 00:13:51 I love this for you. I am not ready yet. We just had this conversation. We were at a wedding the other day. And my daughter, who hasn't even had a boyfriend, girlfriend, whatever, anyone yet. It's like, oh, I would love to get married this year. Tony and I were like, what? No, you're going to finish school.
Starting point is 00:14:08 And then you've got to date someone for a while. And then we'll see where you're at. Congratulations to you. Okay, so let's get back to being mindful. So that's a lot. So you are basically adding another whole person to the mix, the family mix that, you know, needs taking care of. So, you know, whether you're taking care of your daughter or your daughter-in-law,
Starting point is 00:14:29 I'm not sure which one, you know, you're kind of like you're adding more responsibility to your life. And it's really easy to get into a something has to give situation when something like this is happening. You have to give up time and your energy. Right? Because sometimes that's just how it is. So, but the other side of this, you know, you want to feel fantastic, right? You want to be a rock and grandma where you're able to do all the things. Play with your grandkids and all of that and enjoy their company. So, you know, it's so easy to get off track for a variety of reasons, whether it's new grandkids, whether it's travel, whether it's work stress, it's whatever. That's just how this is, right? Like, that's just how it is. There are times, let's say you don't have to lose weight and you're just maintaining your weight, for example, like I have over the last 30 years, there's times where I feel like a rock star. I'm like managing my stress. I'm doing my meditation. I'm eating healthy. I'm whatever. I feel amazing. And then there are other times where I am so tired, so broken down, like life is getting me. And then I have to get back to like, okay, that's enough. Tony and I just
Starting point is 00:15:32 had this conversation. So we're big into golf. And last year he golfed, like, I don't even know, 40 times or something like that. Where this time, he hasn't even golf 10 times. And that's because so many other things kind of got in the way of golfing. Now, it's just golf. Don't get me wrong. But this was like something where he was like, okay, I'm going to do this for me. It's great for my mental health. It gets me out there. It's moving my body. He has a goal to become decently good at golf except this season of his life. It just he didn't have the opportunity to do that. And so he had like a shoulder issue,
Starting point is 00:16:06 then he had a hip issue, then he had a back issue. And so we just had the conversation today. I'm like, what do we want out of our, what do we want from our lives? What brings us joy? What lights us up? One of the things that lights him up is golf. But because he's not taking the time to exercise,
Starting point is 00:16:23 do eat healthy, to be as healthy as possible. When he does go golf, he's feeling that. And so he sat down. today and we're like, what do we need to do that? What do we need to be next year? You're able to focus on that. Well, the one is working out. It's working out. It's eating healthy. It's feeling the best you possibly can. You can't not feel your best and then go out and play all these rounds of golf and be out there. And so this is like, what do I want out of my life? And for me, the same thing, right? Like, I just want to feel fantastic. As I get older, I want to feel better and better and better. Like the last few years
Starting point is 00:16:55 of my life have been very stressful. And I've just been kind of keeping my head above water and at what point am I going to start to swim, you know? So this is like just taking a minute. This is what I love about fall. Falls a great time to do that and just take how I want to live. What are the things that are going to light me up? Like actually taking a minute being like, what do I, what are the things that I need to do to be aligned with that, right? So back on track is a big conversation. But I think we tend to think of it as back on track when it comes to like, I have been, I was trying to lose weight and I've been off the rails and now I need to get back to losing weight, but you will probably find that that goes hand in hand with everything else
Starting point is 00:17:34 you got going on in your life, which reminds me. Let me just like take a minute and see what's going on with my, I'm making like a croissant. Oh, it's still, what is taking so long? I think I turn my heat down too much. See, it's like, I'm making like a croissant sourdough is like, drinking butter. And I think, I don't know. I think it needs to be, okay, I'm going to put this on broil for a minute. I'm going to put this on broil for, am I going to do that? No, I'm really going to be. Because every time I put something on broil, I, um, I end up, why am I comments on? Every time I put something on broil, I end up burning it. So I'm not going to do that. Um, so something to think about, so happy for these reminders. Life is, life is a season and we are hockey billets and he arrives
Starting point is 00:18:24 tomorrow for another. Hi, Melissa, how are you? He arrives for another season. It's a reminders to still take care of me while helping to take care of others, prioritizing yourself over others, makes you the best to help everyone else. That's exactly that. You've got to take care of yourself. And sometimes it's not like bad things. It's good stuff like this. Right. It's not always like, oh, life has fallen, you know, fall into shits. And now I've got to like step up and do something. Sometimes it's when life is going really well and there's things that are exciting that are going on for us. I remember this. I'm like, I'm like a born and raised Peterborough girl. So it was like hockey, hockey, hockey, hockey or baseball, baseball, baseball. I actually used to play
Starting point is 00:19:00 hockey. I hated it. I wanted to do figure skating and my dad signed me out for um hockey school and I was the only girl and I hated it and then he was like I played and I still hated it and then he became a coach and I still hated it and then finally my sister who was five years younger was able to play and then she ended up being a hockey store and I was able to quit that shit but um I'm excited overwhelmed but happy for this journey of helping youth succeed in but me first, ready for this next journey. Yeah, you want to be strong, right? You want to get up. You want maybe, maybe I'm sure you go to some of the games, take the, you know, take the kid to some of the practices, whatever that is. You're sharing part of you in your life with somebody
Starting point is 00:19:44 else to help someone else, right? And it's really easy to be able to use that as a, well, I just got this going on. I don't have time. I got this. You're giving up, something else that has to give, but that doesn't mean that's the way that it has to be. Sometimes you have no choice. Sometimes you have no choice. But this is like, okay, I love your, I love your perspective. So this season, right, this actual fall season, the season of my life, this is what I have going on. So pull in all the pieces, right? So what do you want for yourself out of this season? What is important to you? I always love sitting down and making a list. I'm really good at list. So I make my like, I do a really loose five year plan. So what do I want to see in the next five years? How do I see my
Starting point is 00:20:28 life going and I what I don't do is like well what about this and what about that I don't know and just like uh-uh what do I what's like my ultimate if I can have anything do anything what do I want in my life what I how can I feel and realistic right like realistic like I want to go move to Italy okay am I actually going to be able to go move to Italy do I even want to do that we you know Tony's parents are getting older my mom's getting older I want to stay closer to me do I really want to go move daily. No. So maybe like in 10 years, but maybe I'd like to visit Ed Leemore. Maybe I'd like to stay for a month. So you know what I'm saying. But go for the sky's the limit. Sky's the limit and make a plan and be like, okay, what are the things that I want to do? One of the things I need to do in order to align
Starting point is 00:21:13 with this plan that I have for myself. So I love a big five year plan. And then I love the sort of this season of my life, right? What do I really want to commit to in this season of life? One, I want to be more active. I want to be more active with my family. So one of the things that we're doing as a family is we're sitting down even with our kids. And we're like, what do you want out of life? What are some of the things you want to do? How can we best set you up for success and support you? And the same, we're asking of our kids. How can you help us do the things that we want to do? Like if you make nachos at three o'clock in the morning, the reason why you need to clean them up is because we want to wake up in the morning and make a nice healthy breakfast for ourselves. So that kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:21:53 Right. So I love this. Making a plan. Making a plan. Gina, you're simply glowing this morning. You're too kind. I just got out of the shower and probably put some cream on. I'm excited. I'm excited about fall. I have been sharing with you guys that I kind of have been showing up with some dread and worry in my life because that is how my brain has gotten rewired. And this goes back before like, This goes back around pandemic time, which coincided with perimenopause time starting, with starting a business time and the pressures that go on that. My kid's dad was getting sicker and sicker.
Starting point is 00:22:36 I have a daughter with pretty serious mental health, severe mental health and addiction issues. And it's been pretty all-consuming and tiring. And it's what it's done, it's created, even though my life is amazing, it's created this constant dread and worry and waiting for the shooter drop and that's how I've been showing up in my life and I realized I get waiting for that to end to really enjoy things and so now I'm committing to changing my perspective on life and even though something like like going out makes me nervous like I'm a bit of like I'm an introverted extrovert so once I get there I'm great but going there I'm just like nervous Nelly and so now I for example I met I went to go meet I had lunch
Starting point is 00:23:23 Joanna Hunt. Every time we see each other, we're like, we should have lunch. Louisa, I went to go see Louisa and her family. I've been kind of stepping out and doing more, but I'm really paying attention to how I'm feeling, like leading up to and going. And I want to change my perspective and really look forward to everything I get to do. And so I've been doing a lot of meditation. I've been listening to a lot of Gabby Bernstein podcast and just kind of about just really being in the moment and trusting. So rather than trying to make things work and control things, I'm just kind of trusting what I'm doing.
Starting point is 00:23:59 And this is what I used to do when I started this program like six years ago. I didn't really, there was no pressure. I just got up and I was like, okay, let me just jump on, have fun, talk about whatever it is that's coming up that day, help answer people's questions. And so I'm really excited about getting back to that. With the fall program, we're working on stream. lining all the content. So you can go down the rabbit hole of like deep dive of information in the
Starting point is 00:24:25 app, but we're going to kind of lighten that up. My teaching way was like, share everything. Right. And and it's been a lot. People don't want more and more and more and more and more. And you have all of it. It's going to be in the app. But I've just gotten really excited about really trying to be like, where am I at? And how do I meet people where they're at? and how do I get really excited about what we've created here because it's really amazing. So that's where it comes to just sharing a bit of insight into kind of the fall program and the vibe that I'm bringing to it. The summer club has been great. We need like every season of your life is going to be a little different.
Starting point is 00:25:01 So you can't, you know, show up in the fall the way you've been showing up in the summer, right? But at the same time, because it should be different. It feels different. But the same time there's elements that you can take, that lightheartedness and that like, okay, not being so hard on yourself, you know, cutting yourself some slack. But it's that fine line between like you, you know those things that you need to do. So you have to do them. So it's all about the perspective and the energy that you're sorting up with. So been off track. Hi, Rose. And having a hard time getting back into it. My kids are moving to school in the next few weeks
Starting point is 00:25:35 and just have a lot going on. Fingers crossed the fall session will bring more time to focus on myself. So maybe it won't, right? Like in one sense, it's good. Your kids are going off to school. But, you know, comes with like mentally a whole other like that can almost bring more stress on you so so who knows what you got going on in your life it's how do you make time for yourself so that's the focus right like given where i'm at what i got going on what are the what are my non-negotiables like what are the things that i'm going to do no matter what right like what like i want to or and what that means is let's say like moving so i'm going to get back next week to my 730 workouts and and movements and then in the fall, I'm going to do like a whole beginner workout plan when the fall program starts.
Starting point is 00:26:20 So what does that mean right now? That means that I want to get up. I want to move my body. And if I don't do it for like one day is fine. More than two days though, right? You're like, okay, I can't let this is where you got to be like, I can't let more than two days go without doing the thing that I need to do. So it's not like all or nothing. And then if you, if you ended up not working out when you said you were going to work out, you failed. and now you've got to start over. So you have to be realistic about your non-negotiables, but really sitting down and being like, okay,
Starting point is 00:26:51 how am I feeling now? How is it feeling before? How am I feeling now? What is not working for me about what is going on in my life, right? Drinking a bottle of wine every night, it's not working for me. I haven't been doing that, by the way, but just let's, I've done that in the past. How is that working for me?
Starting point is 00:27:09 In one sense, it works for me, but it's really not working for me. Okay, how is staying up late and watching, you know, Lord of the Rings for the 100th time. That I am actually currently doing. How is that working for me? Right? How is that working for me? I've already seen it. And why am I staying up late? What is the, why am I doing that? So how's that working for me? Right. So how are the things like, so really just take a kind of an assessment of your life, not judgment, but assessment of your life. And there's nothing wrong with it. There's nothing wrong with it, but if it's not lighting you up and it's not bringing you joy and it's not aligning with
Starting point is 00:27:45 what you want in life, that's what need to be like, okay, what what do I need to do to be more aligned with how I want to feel and how I want my life to look. Hi, Christy, I've done multiple programs who was feeling great. Went off track this past spring and wow, between menopause and not eating right did the pounds come back on. I'm looking forward to getting back on track in the fall. I'll feel so much better at as a whole when I follow the program and eat right. It's that routine and structure, right? And this is one of the reasons why I did the membership is because when we were looking at it's 91 days. I love that that's motivating me.
Starting point is 00:28:19 Break that down into 91 day chunks of time. We can still do that. But your journey doesn't stop. Even after you've lost the weight and we talk about this in maintenance, like our maintenance program is about how to maintain your weight when there's up to ups and downs of life and what you got going on, health issues, whatever, whatever is happening in your life. right and there's reasons why people gain way back one not putting time into maintenance obviously you're still looking on looking to lose wait what does that mean you need to give your body time to adjust to your new weight like your hormones need to adjust to your weight like your fat doesn't just sit there your body actually uses fat and it's everyday workings so your hormones need to adjust
Starting point is 00:29:00 your body temperature needs to adjust right like you're the size of your heart if you lost a considerable amount of weight your heart grows to the meet the needs of your body when you lose weight, right, your heart needs to adjust to the new size of your body. So then here's where you are at, where you lost your weight and then what happens, situational change. So things happen, right? So your routine changes, you deal with a health issue, stress or whatever, your routine changes. So why?
Starting point is 00:29:30 Because we fall back into old habits. So we don't give everybody enough time to adjust to our new weight and then we fall back into old habits. Situationational change, something happens. and going through menopause, for example, and your hormones change and can be situational change, that'll throw you back, right? And just not being mindful, just literally going back into old habits. And so this is sort of like, this is where I've had so many women do the program. Oh, my goodness, it's amazing. And then all of a sudden they start to go through menopause. And I'm like, whoa, what is up with that?
Starting point is 00:29:59 And so this is sort of where your focus needs to change. Definitely menopause therapy can help, like hormone therapy and whatnot can help. But what is it help? with. Ultimately, it helps with sleep because that's the number one thing. When you have menopause, you're not sleep, when you're going through especially paramedipause, it affects your sleep the most. Hot flashes. It affects your sleep. It makes you anxious. It can affect appetite, heartburn, nausea, all of that. When you're not getting sleep, your body can't repair, rebuild, make change, detox, focus on fat loss. When you're not sleeping, it causes you to crave more carbs and sugar throughout the day. So that is sort of like, that's what's,
Starting point is 00:30:38 difficult. So this is where going through menopause. So you might not know this, but we added all of our menopause information to the app. So there's a whole menopause guide in there. And there's a lot of great conversations and information on sleep. So it's specific to menopause and weight loss. Something that we're going to be talking a lot more about in the fall program as well. So GLP1 content and information has been added to the app. If you're taking weight loss medications. And then, of course, menopause information on top of that. So so it's about figuring out, okay, so this is a what I did last time to lose weight. Why did I gain that weight back? What's going on with my body? What can I do to help my body focus on fat loss again? The good thing about this is that
Starting point is 00:31:19 weight that comes on quick, comes off quick. Because although you would have gained weight back, you still did all the work. Right? So you worked on making your body healthier, increasing your metabolism, all the mental stuff that you've worked on. This is just like a situational change where you need to address that situation, and then you'll notice that weight come back down. We just talked to someone the other day on one of our, talk to one of our members the other day about this, where they had been really successful, everything was fine, menopause hit, weight went back up, and as soon as they got a handle on that, their weight started to come back down. So, I'm with you.
Starting point is 00:31:58 I'm right there with you in the full program. Okay, let me see what else. do to do do my comments are not working facebook it's just amazing i feel like i needed this today hi wendy um in the winter session i lost 11 pounds so excited last session summer have been fluctuating in a five pound range with no loss doing all the things able to maintain but have not moved the scale so this is where okay so one of the things that we're doing for example is uh lissa steinberg is going to be joining us so she's been going through our food plan working with us she'd have some great recipes. She's also working on a supplemental guide if you're interested in grabbing that from
Starting point is 00:32:35 a dietitian's perspective, everything about the food plan and the program, which will be really interesting. This is exactly it, right? Like, do you need to increase your portion sizes, decrease your portion sizes, exercise more, maybe exercise less? We've been doing a lot of exercise. Maybe you need to take break. So this is really about what's going on with your body. What have you done? What have you not done? What work for you before? What do you need? now and really being investigative about that. And that's what I love about each new season. And the fact that we're rolling into fall is a great time to kind of do an assessment of that.
Starting point is 00:33:10 You know what I should do before we go into the fall session? What I'm going to do before we go into fall session? I'll do like a transition session. So how to kind of get back on track after the summer, kind of reset, things to think about rolling into the fall program. I'll think about that and do that. Hi, Tayah, you turn 53. This October, my older sister keeps telling me that.
Starting point is 00:33:31 that that's when it really hit her heart. I'm hoping that's not true. I am 53 and I feel better than I have in a really long time. So let me give you that news. I feel better than I have in a long time. I've also my, my, my, I've been in full menopause since February, I believe. So I've been like almost six months or probably more than six months. I've got to grab my sourdough bread.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Six months without my menstrual cycle. I feel better than I have. although I am noticing some hormonal stuff pop up. It could be, oh yeah, this is perfect. So yeah, so 53 is a grade age. Oh, yes. No, I need to keep that in there. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:12 I'm going to go. I'm going to put this on Royal. I'm going to brown on top. I'm going to be back tomorrow. We have some great guests all of this week. I'm hoping it's going to expand our mind on the conversations with where they're at, so I'm really looking forward to that. What else?
Starting point is 00:34:23 What else was? I think that's it. Have a fantastic day. I'm happy that you join me today. I'm excited about this week. I'm excited about the fall. Yeah. So I hope you are too.
Starting point is 00:34:32 Okay, have a great day and I will check in. I'll check in tomorrow. I'll see them. Okay, bye.
