The Livy Method Podcast - What Happens When You Stop Following Food Rules

Episode Date: July 6, 2026

What if the goal was never to follow a plan forever, but to not need one? In this episode, Gina Livy breaks down the shift most diets never teach: how to actually know when to eat, what to eat, and ho...w much, by checking in with your body instead of your head. She gets into why skipping a meal isn't the win you think it is, how the summer heat has been messing with your scale (and why it's secretly working in your favour), and what to do when your old habit of going all day without eating creeps back in. Plus: a member hits 50 pounds down after three years of showing up, and Gina gets real about why losing a large amount of weight in a healthy way is far more possible than the industry wants you to believe. This episode aligns with Day 78 of our Spring 2026 weight loss program. Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm going to be honest with you, this podcast is unapologetically a hot mess, because that is what midlife feels like sometimes. Why, though? And how do we make it better? Do we all just need facelifts and JLP ones? I mean, let's talk about it. No bullshit, no wellness wankery here, because we're trying to make real change and change is hard. But we're in this together. Welcome to the Living Method podcast. It is Monday. It is, what day is? A day 78 of the program. Okay, week 10. I'm excited about this week. I love this week because it's about building on everything that you've learned up until this point, whether this is your first program or your 25th program. You are testing out where you are at with being able to trust when to eat, what to eat and how much to eat. You got to test it out. You got to see where you are at. This week and this tweak super effective for fat loss.
Starting point is 00:00:56 It's like doing all the things. It's literally doing all the things. People can perceive that this is you just trusting yourself. and doing whatever you want to do. It is absolutely not that. So when to eat, we are practicing, asking ourselves at every single meal and snack time from the original food plans. We're checking it at breakfast. We are checking it at morning snack time at lunch time, first afternoon snack time, second afternoon snack time, and then dinner. Okay, so we're checking it. We are asking ourselves, hey, am I actually hungry and not in our heads, right, in our bellies, in our bodies, are we hungry? Yes, I'm hungry. Okay, what's the best thing for me to eat? Keeping in mind, I'm on a weight loss journey and I'm trying to reach my goals, right? So what is the best thing to eat at breakfast?
Starting point is 00:01:42 Focused on high protein. And yes, of course, you can add fruit, you can add, you know, other types of carbs like oatmeal and whatnot to that, but you definitely want to make sure you're focused on protein for breakfast, okay? So if you're hungry, you need to eat breakfast, you're going to focus on protein. You are going to ask your four sets of mindful eating questions portion-wise because you're still looking to lose weight just enough in the moment so that when you walk away and you check in on yourself and your hunger hormones like your leptin, right, have had an opportunity to kick in and let you know that you've had enough. Okay. Check in at morning snack time. Am I hungry? You know what? I'm not actually hungry. Am I sure? Am I in my head? Am I body in my belly? Yeah, no, I'm checking in. I'm actually,
Starting point is 00:02:25 nope, I'm not hungry at all. I'm good. So I'm going to choose, for example, not to have my morning snack. then I'm going to check in at lunch. Am I hungry? Yes. Okay, I'm hungry. So what's the best thing for me to eat? At your meals, lunch and dinner, you still want to have the components of the protein, vegetables, leafy greens, healthy fats.
Starting point is 00:02:45 If you want to add in heavier carbs, lunchtime is still the best time to do that, right? Checking in at first afternoon snack, second afternoon snack, and then again at dinner. Now, perhaps you check in at first afternoon snack. you're not hungry, so I'm just going to choose not to eat anything. Then you're going to check in at second afternoon snack and you're like, well, I'm still not hungry. So I'm going to choose not to eat anything. And maybe you check in at dinner and you're still not hungry, but this is where you should eat because if you don't eat something, you would have gone too long without eating or you will go too long without eating. So you will have a one of the, I want to have a little token amount.
Starting point is 00:03:23 But you can absolutely choose not to have dinner. You just have to be mindful that you doesn't cause you to snack after dinner, right? Because you're still looking to lose weight. So one of the best things you can do to be proactive about that is not be snacking at night. This is going to mess with your hunger levels. They're going to kind of be a little bit out of whack. It's going to mess with your mind. Oh my goodness. I didn't eat my snack. Am I now overly hungry now? Right. So this is where you are doing all of the things. So checking in at every meal and snack time, assessing if you need to eat, okay, great. What's the best thing for you to eat? So following all the guideline. So more flexibility in the snack in the snacks. If you want to have fruit,
Starting point is 00:03:59 great idea to combine in with the protein and fat, for example, but you have other options. Maybe you could eat. Maybe you're not really, really hungry. You could eat something and then you're going to have a few token bites. So you can still have token bites if you feel like, okay, I'm not really sure. I'm not overly hungry, but I could eat. And then the should eat comes in if you are going to go too long without eating. Let's say you are not hungry for lunch, but you know you're going to be in a meeting for five hours. This is probably like, I'm not hungry, but I should probably eat a small token amount because I know if I don't, I'm going to end up going all day without eating, right? Or if it's lunchtime and you're not really hungry, yet you didn't
Starting point is 00:04:38 have morning snack and you didn't have breakfast, you're kind of like, okay, well, I'm not really hungry at lunch, but I should have something to eat because otherwise I would have gone too long without eating. So going too long without eating is not really a problem. We just don't want to create the habit of that. Going too long without eating, high stress, lack of sleep, overeating when you do eat is like a recipe for weight game. You've got it made the body trust. You're going to give it what it needs. And so you don't want to fall back into old habits. So if your old habit is going all day long without eating, be mindful of that. I am like, this is what happens to me. If I, if I'm focused on something, I'm working on something, I can go all day long without eating.
Starting point is 00:05:13 It doesn't mean that I'm not hungry. It just means that my body is supporting me. Holy shit, she's so focused on this. Let's not interrupt her. Right. So I'm not really paying attention. him. I'm not being self-aware and I'm not being mindful. So what I know about myself is I actually have to check in and be like, oh, am I hungry? This happens all the time. Tony, like, do you want something for lunch? No, I'm good. He pops food down in front of me anyway. Next thing, you know, I like eat the whole thing. I actually was hungry. I just wasn't checking in with myself. So all of the guardrails, all of the guidelines, still maximizing, still asking the mindful eating questions, still drinking your water, making sure you're hydrated. Not drinking enough water is going to slow down the scale.
Starting point is 00:05:53 for sure. It's hard in the summer when it's been so hot. Add some electrolytes to that game changer because you can drink a whole bunch of water. Is your body actually able to hydrate, especially in the high heat, managing your stress, doing deep breathing, you know, that you can during during night at night to help you also get a better night's sleep. It's been hard to get a good night's sleep and it's so hot. I know that. So this is why a lot of you are really feeling the scale going up, just the heat, the heat wave the past week, eating off foods, salty foods, messing with your sleep, eating late at night, drinking more alcohol than what you are used to. That doesn't mean that you can't still lose weight. The small things that you're doing at this point in the program absolutely add up. So this week gives you
Starting point is 00:06:37 more flexibility, which is why I love it for the summer. Now, people get scared of this because they don't trust themselves, but there's nothing to trust because you're still following the program, right? Checking in every single meal and snack, assessing your situation, choosing from the same foods, still maximizing your efforts, still doing everything you can to get and keep that scale moving. This is the tweak you're going to follow during the summer. This is where people are like, oh, I don't know if I want to do that. It seems too hard. Really, if you think about it, the only thing that changes is that you no longer have to force
Starting point is 00:07:07 yourself to eat those token amounts if you're not hungry for them. Keeping in mind, there's a rhyme and a reason to why we do that, right? So over the summertime, if you're joining us for our summer club, if you're a part of our membership, it's already included. There's nothing you need to do after day 91, open up your app and you'll see me checking in. I'm still going live. You'll see old content, new content, be able to use the app as you do. If you want to be part of their summer club, you can also join that as well.
Starting point is 00:07:35 It's all included in your membership. If you are not on our membership and you want to be, you can start signing up for that. We'll give you more information on that, which is by far our biggest value. It's like $20 a month. It includes everything. A lot of people think that the $20 a month you pay. and then you still have to pay for the 91 days. You don't. It's actually all just included. If you just want to do the 91 days for whatever reason and you want to buy into the summer club,
Starting point is 00:07:59 you can do that. But we're going to personalize the plan throughout the summer. It's very effective for fat loss. It's great to practice it. And it's great for that reset of the 91 day push in the fall. We also got some great guests this week. Tanya Jelsimino is going to join us. We're also working on a bunch of new guests for the summer and throughout the fall as well. but we love our kind of resident guests. Tanya Jal Samino's been with us for a while, very successful in the program. Recently had a baby.
Starting point is 00:08:27 She's our resident fashionista. We're going to talk about how to dress your body when you are changing. And I'm not just talking physically. I'm talking mentally. Maybe the way you dressed yourself before was to kind of like, you know, cover yourself up. Maybe you chose dark colors or maybe you chose bright colors or whatever that is. But you are making change.
Starting point is 00:08:46 You're changing the energy. You're showing up within the. world and chances are that's going to change your taste and your sense of style and what dressing now means to you. What about getting rid of those old clothes that no longer fit you? Right. You have that whole like whole wardrobe where you have every size from every weight journey you've ever been on. What do you do with those clothes? Right now I'm I'm bad for this. I will buy jeans in two different sizes. It's kind of like my my feeling fine and then my feeling bloaty and indulge you jeans. If I love a good pair of jeans, I will buy two.
Starting point is 00:09:18 and in two different sizes. So that I'm comfy in my jeans. In fact, I'm the worst in fashion. I will buy this. If I find something that I like, I buy this same thing in like different colors. It's literally my whole order. But we're going to talk about that. Dr. Jennifer Zelvitsky is going to join us too on Thursday.
Starting point is 00:09:36 She is an MD. She is also a menopause. She specializes in menopause. And she's been joining us for a while over the last couple of years. We're going to talk about menopause. the whole program, really, I mean, I could do a menopause weight loss program. This would be it. In fact, when that menopause conversation first started a while back a couple of years ago, I did do a menopause add-on. And I did think about doing a menopause weight loss program, but basically I would have 90, like 9% of the people just switch over into the menopause weight loss program, which is the same, except more conversations on menopause. So what we're going to do is add all that content and information to the app. And obviously what's happened is over the last couple of groups, I've chosen to specifically focus on women in midlife.
Starting point is 00:10:24 We obviously have all genders in the group and everyone is welcome. The program works really well for everybody. Take what you need. Some conversations might not be relevant to you. But we've had previous conversations with Jennifer. She's straight up. I love her. So we're going to have her on Thursday.
Starting point is 00:10:39 But we're not done yet. We go right to the very last day. Whether you're popping in every day or once a week or whenever it is, we are absolutely here for you. Okay, let me pop into the group speaking of and see where we are at with some questions for you guys and see how you're. So first of all, can I just talk about PEI? I just, I cannot wait to go back.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Newfoundland, New Brunswick, we're going to go back when my book LiveLiter comes out. So Indigo came to me to do this book after having Greta on. And I love Greta. I'm signing Greta's books. Greta's going to be joining us again in the summer. And of course, in the fall, she'll be back. And I was like, okay, I want to do a book. but I want to do a lifestyle book.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Now another diet book, lifestyle book, everything else, all the other conversations that we talk about when it comes to weight loss and just trying to be healthy and living our best, longest lives. So I put it into this beautiful book. I've got my friend Lynn doing design, my friend Norma doing travel. But what I'm excited about,
Starting point is 00:11:36 and thank you to everyone who purchased the book for pre-order. I love you. When you pre-order, Indigo orders more copies. I love this. I'm so excited about it because I want to do a cross-Canada tour. I cannot tell you how amazing it was to meet up with all the women, P-E-I. Like it would to, like, it's magic. Let me tell you.
Starting point is 00:11:56 It's magic. And women, like, were, like, talking to each other. And, you know, one lady was like, oh, my goodness, we were neighbors when we were younger. And I just spoke to my friend Gail. She was like, oh, you met Hannah and her daughter, Jessica. It's, like, amazing when women come together and actually have a conversation. So many great conversations had the biggest one. and always is, and I hate the word normalizing because everyone's using that word normalizing.
Starting point is 00:12:22 You know, we've been using that for a while. We need to normalize life. We need to normalize that. Weight loss itself is doing a series of things to help your body focus on fat loss. Give your body what needs. Help it focus on fat loss. Create the environment, support it when it comes to releasing fat. We know that, right? But it's trying to do that while we are dealing with our husband who's in the hospital or taking care of, you know, one of our parents or, you know, a child with a mental health issues or you yourself dealing with, you know, physical health issues or ailments or breaking an ankle or whatever that might be, right? Like, we really need to normalize that. And that's where we have different seasons, you know, the fall and the spring and the in the summer.
Starting point is 00:13:03 And I love that. And I love our 91 day program. So you can kind of see what was happening in that season of your life. Like what happened in the winter and the winter program? What was going on in your life? Where were you at? Right. What's happened in the spring? I hear, I hear so many of you say, oh my goodness, the program went by so fast. It does, right? Because life goes by so quickly. But it is really about showing up. That's what it is. It's about, you know, what can you give to yourself in this season of your life? And it's all, you're worthy of it all. And that's what I love about the program. And I'm not trying to promote or sell the membership. You're already here and you're already signed up. But, you know, $20 a month is what the program costs. Tony and I went out, took the kids out for tacos the
Starting point is 00:13:42 other day. You could buy like a taco dinner was $20, right? A lot. Lobster roll in PEI was $20. They were amazing. And I had about 16 of them, by the way. They ate so many lobster rolls. They're so good. But really, for the price of, you know, a lobster roll in PEI, you get access to the program, the content, the information, but more importantly, the community.
Starting point is 00:14:05 And community is so important. So we're going to be doing a big cross-candidator tour to bring our communities together. So looking forward to that. All right. Let's get into where you are at. I hope you do Thunder Bay. Trudy, hi, first of all, I saw a couple of your comments. Thank you for getting the book.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Thank you for that. Thank you for getting the book. I'm going to do Winnipeg. I would love to do Thunder Bay. I would love to do subbury in the summer or fall. It's nice driving weather. I want to get out into our communities and be reminded of who our community is. Every time I have an opportunity.
Starting point is 00:14:34 And, you know, so a couple of years ago, and I wanted to do this, create these events. My friend Sonia and I went to them. And they were just, I just was like, this is. not it. This is women coming with their friends and just chatting with their friends. This is the organizer sitting at the table at the very front saying, look at me. What a great event. I'm like, fuck no. If I'm like going to organize event, I'm going to be like, like, I love Indigo. We didn't impromptu at Indigo. They were not preparing us. I thought two people would show up. Brenda reached out, one of our members. She's like, hey, me and my friend Barb are doing the program. You're in P.E.I.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Let's meet up. I'm like, all right, sure. Let's go. So I'm like, hey, how about we meet up in Indigo? because I don't know Charlotte Town. I knew I was going to be flying out Saturday. And so we did this impromptu just kind of pop up. And they're like, you know, do, well, we don't really have any tables for you. I'm like, I don't need a table. I'm not going to be sitting at a table. Like I got no interest in that.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Same thing with these events. I just think there, if I'm going to leave my house, I want to know that I went out and I'm like, I want to walk away saying, oh, that was so great. I'm so glad I left my house. Like, it was worth my time. It was worth my money. it was worth my energy and that filled my cup. I don't want to leave an event feeling like,
Starting point is 00:15:49 oh, well, like, there's so much I don't know. And, you know, it's so hard to meet people. And like, you know, I'm just so tired of those kind of events where I just feel like we could do it so much better. We could just do it so much better. I was reading a quote the other day. I was talking about friendships when you're older and they take work. They do take work.
Starting point is 00:16:07 You have to be intentional and you have to ask. You have to be like, hey, do you want to be my friend? You know? And it's amazing every time we bring our community together, like, I'll see two women, they'll come up. And I'm like, you guys best friends? They're like, no, we just met today. And I think that's so great. How calm is it? Hi, Jackie. For people on this plan to need or want to lose 100 pounds, is it possible? Yeah. Oh, gosh, yeah. I'm assuming maybe that you're new here. If you are welcome, we've talked to so many. You should go into our podcast, our spill the tea.
Starting point is 00:16:41 and we have some guests coming up in the next couple weeks we're going to talking to. We didn't do so much this time. It's just hard to get people together with spring, people out and about. We're going to be doing that in the fall. We're going to be rejigging our spill the tea conversation. So normally what we do is we bring on members who are in their weight journey. Some who have lost five pounds, some people who've lost 150 pounds, just kind of various journeys. It's not always anyone who's like, oh, hi, I crushed it and I'm amazing.
Starting point is 00:17:10 It's like real conversations with people. And we've had so many of our members who have lost like over 100. I've lost. I don't know if you know anything about me, but I lost over 100 and something pounds, probably close to 150 over 30 years ago myself. And that's sort of what spurred my journey is because I was a personal trainer and teaching classes. And then I have my own weight journey, lost over 100 something pounds.
Starting point is 00:17:35 And then because of that, people wanted me to help them lose weight. And then basically I spent the rest of my life. doing that. It was more one-on-one, and then I started these programs. And so we have a lot of members who have lost a lot of weight on the program. So it's pretty common. It's pretty common. So with the Libby Method, people lose a clinical amount of weight, which is 5% of your weight, I believe, within six months. People are losing over 5% of their weight within three months. Some people, 25% of their weight. So a lot of people think that this program isn't for people who have a lot of weight to lose or they think it's for people who have a lot of weight to lose, who are GLP1,
Starting point is 00:18:12 taking GLP ones and weight loss medications. And those are great. I'm totally on board with those, by the way. I'm a big supporter of that. They can help with food noise. They can help with appetite, but it doesn't change the things you need to do to be able to maintain and sustain your weight. And so sometimes people, when they're looking at it, they're like, oh, it's not really for me. So yeah, so it's very common for people to lose a considerable amount of weight. Now, what trips people up is this concept of 91 days, right? So it's not the, the programs originally decided 91 days and I did that because 12 weeks is enough time for you to to make considerable amount of change, right? But for various reasons, some people may have more weight to lose than
Starting point is 00:18:53 others or maybe life is making it a lot easier to lose than others. I wanted people to be able to customize their journey. So if someone just needed one program, they could sign up for one program. and if someone needed to, you know, spend two years trying to lose, you know, 200 pounds, they could do that as well. And so what happened was is people wanted more of a membership and a membership is great because then people can work on their journey year round and through the break. So now it took us a while to create that platform and that's why we have our new membership, right? And so, yeah, it's the program is designed to help you, to help anyone lose the amount of weight
Starting point is 00:19:29 that they are looking to lose. And what's hard in a group setting is that you kind of don't know people's situations or their circumstances. So you just kind of figure out where you fit in that based on what other people are commenting or whatever people are saying. We used to have a lot more people commenting in the groups. Like there's like 25,000 people doing the program. Only 15,000 actually joining us live in the Facebook group because so many people are just using the app. And I think the world has changed a little bit because during the pandemic, we have we we, we'd have a minimum. million comments and thousands of questions on the check-in video when people were at home.
Starting point is 00:20:06 And now it's not like that anymore because people are getting out and about. And this is a big part of one to bring people together. So you can meet other people who've been on the same journey as you. I have limited mobility due to fibromyalgia and a double knee replacement. Yeah. So that makes it, like that's, we're talking different circumstances, right? Fibromyalgia is a hard one because you just might not have the energy certain days to do certain things.
Starting point is 00:20:27 You kind of don't know what's popping up and going on in your body. double knee replacement. So for example, we had this wonderful woman, uh, join me on Spill the tea who had, uh, multiple sclerosis. And she was literally confined to a wheelchair where she was very limited. She had to rely on people to go to the bathroom. She had rely on people to make her food. Um, she would, she would eat enough food. And then sometimes it would, the food would literally sit there in front of her for hours. And she was able to lose. I think she gasped around 60, 70 pounds at the time. Because she was, unable to really get on a scale and weigh herself, right? And so your body doesn't want the fat
Starting point is 00:21:06 any more than you do. So you just, for example, eating less, so eating less isn't necessarily going to help you when it comes to losing weight because you would lose weight, eat less, and then you would take your metabolism, and then the amount of calories that your body burns would be less and less, right? So this is why this program be so great for you. Nutriot rich healthy foods that are going to help give your body the nutrients that needs to make change and address any healthy that you have. So that's number one because alter processed foods, even like low cow foods that are processed foods cause inflammation and whatnot in the body. So this program is designed to lower insulin levels. It's to decrease inflammation, both of which is really going to help with fibromyalgia.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Double knee replacement is hard. Obviously, this is why, you know, we had Sherry Perez, for example, show us some chair exercises. So you can get some hand weights, just lifting your arms up over your head and if you have, you know, shoulder issues like I do, you can use them this way. There's all sorts of exercises that you can do, being more active in sitting in a chair. And so will it take you longer because you're dealing with that? Absolutely. But your body doesn't want this fat any more than you do. So it's about helping the body be able to focus on fat loss. And so this is why it's such a great program because it's all about losing weight in a healthy way, keeping your metabolism intact. So yeah, fuck yeah. You can do that. No matter how much weight you have to lose, you absolutely can
Starting point is 00:22:28 lose this weight. Is it probably going to be frustrating? Is it going to take it longer than you want? Absolutely. But you absolutely can do it. And that's where you have this community, right? And popping in and ask all the questions. But back to this, I would go. We've had so many, so many people do the program and be successful and have, and have limitations, health issues, things that made it not easy for them. And so if you go into our podcast and go into spill the tea or real people, real journey, there's so many conversations. You can go in there and you can kind of like look through all of them and listen to some of the ones that are going to be relevant to you. Hi, Ellen. Sudbury will welcome you. Yeah. Yeah, I met a few people from Subbury while I was in PE. I'm looking forward to.
Starting point is 00:23:12 Sometimes trying to figure out what to wear so tricky when there is limited funds for new clothes. Yes. Absolutely. I feel like I have other clothes that are one size smaller, but they're too tight and current ones that are loose, maybe worn out or loose elastic. So I can't tell you how many people I sat down in front of myself, like who sat down in front of me and I'm like, listen, because when you want to lose a considerable amount of weight, and people don't really talk about this, people don't talk about this. You go and lose weight and then clothes are not cheap and you need a whole new wardrobe. Some people need new shoes, underwear, bras, like everything, right? And that can be quite expensive. This is why I love my like thrift stores are really great. Consignment shops, thrift stores are really great. That's where my kids spend a lot of time getting those medium stuff. I've always wanted to do like a community swap, you know? I might do that. If we like host a big conference, like a community swap where you just bring in your clothes, bring in your old pile of clothes. You know, someone else brings their pile of clothes.
Starting point is 00:24:12 We can organize it according to size and we can kind of like just swap clothes and maybe figure things out, you know. But it can be. That's a, you know, that's definitely something that people don't factor and they get excited. And then also it's not that too. too, like you literally are changing. So to go back to, you know, the same style and just a smaller size, it's, people actually have a really hard time with this because what work for you before isn't necessarily going to be what works for you again. So this is why it is. Like every time I say
Starting point is 00:24:42 it's about how to dress your changing body, I'm like, that's never the conversation. It's so much more than that. And what do we want to do? We want to lose weight, want to feel great. We want to walk in our closets and be able to love the clothes and be able to put them on and they all fit. And we feel wonderful and we feel great, right? It's a lot more complicated. than that for sure for sure two books ordered all of canada's you know thank you irene i you guys are going to love it you guys you guys are going to love it i'm excited for everyone to see it but i'm more excited about doing the cross-canada tour um p e i was wonderful i would love to we actually i was talking about seeing canada though also talk about not cheap right like from for me to fly from like here
Starting point is 00:25:20 over to the other side of the country is just as expensive as flying to europe um it can definitely be not cheap, but gosh, our country is so beautiful. It's just so great to see. And to be there during Canada Day, it was just like the birthplace of Confederation, which was really super cool. St. Catharines, I love St. Catherine. So I had family. My mom and her sisters used to travel to St. Catharines. That's where my grandma's sister's lived. And so they would have quite a bit of family out there in St. Catharines. Watching from the back deck of the lakehouse. Oh, lucky you. Oh, my goodness. I love that. Birds, Browningee, can I tell you guys a story?
Starting point is 00:26:01 Tell you a story. Oh my gosh. Okay. So when I first moved into my house where I live now, right? So we were renting, I was renting a house and Tony and I bought a house. I was so excited to move in, just like to have neighbors and be around and was in this beautiful cul-de-sac. And on my, on my front garden, there is this plant. It's like, it just has these like green leaves. It's big. and this stalk and this green stock that goes, it's like a century plant or an agave plant, anyway, this green stock. And it grew and it just grew this ugly bean on it. And I was like, okay, this is so ugly.
Starting point is 00:26:38 But then I was like, maybe this is this plant that like the whole neighborhood, because where it's situated on my property, I don't know why it's at the very front. Maybe it's this plant that the whole neighborhood comes and sees and like flowers and whatever. So I was nervous about making any, I wanted to fit into the neighborhood so bad. badly. And so one time the ladies were all outside, just kind of chitchatting, I don't know, putting the recycling out or hanging out. And I was like, hey, just like a question about this plant. Like is that, does it do anything? And they're like, no, that's it. I'm like, okay, so we're not sitting around waiting for it to bloom or anything. They're like, no. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:27:14 okay, because it's kind of ugly. And they're like, yeah, it is. I'm like, so if I took it out, you guys would be fine with it. They're like, you do whatever. Like, we don't care. So we've been I remember about six years. I was actually, I was actually had to save a little bird that ran into a window. An American red crest, red crest bird, I'm a bird person too now, by the way. And it led me to Googling something else. I came across someone who had one of these big plants and it grew and it bloomed. And I was like, oh, that looks like that ugly thing that I have in my front yard that I dug up and just won't stop growing. It keeps like, I dig it up and it pops up I'm this fucking plant. And even this year, my daughter and I was like, oh, for fuck sakes.
Starting point is 00:27:57 So she was actually going to dig it out the other day. And so I come across this plant. I'm like, oh, that looks like mine. Anyway, the thing blooms once, like every 30 years and then it dies. Every 30 years and it dies. So I'm in PEI and I send the group chat. I'm like, you guys, this plant is like, this is what it does. And it blooms like every 30 years then it dies. then I come home and I'm looking at it and sure is shit, it's blooming. It's the fucking thing is blooming. The people who lived in our house had been here for like 24 years and then we had we've been here for like five or six years. So that adds up to 30 years. And so now the stock is not giant and big because we've cut it down so many times. Apparently like people like pay big
Starting point is 00:28:46 money for these blooms and stuff. Anyway, I'll let you know when it blooms. I don't know what the moral of that story is, but I just, I can't even believe it. Good morning. Skill is down this morning after being up last two days, so I'll take it. My goal is to keep hydrated. Okay, you're going to notice because the heat is dissipating, right, at least for the next couple days, you're going notice your weight really coming down. Those of you just thought, oh my God, I've blown it. I've eaten so much stuff and I'm just so bloated. My weight is up. That's just summer. That's, that actually works for you. This heat works for you in a sense that when it's that hot, it signals to your body, we don't need this fat because one of the reasons your body stores that extra fat is for insulation.
Starting point is 00:29:26 And so it being so hot, your body is like, we don't fucking need this, this excess fat that we're lugging around. We're just also probably not drinking enough water and we're not sleeping and all of that, right? So this is where you, when you are consistent in doing the things that you need to do, when it's hot like that, it actually is really effective at sending that message. And so when it kind of cools down, you'll notice. You'll be like, wake up and be like, oh my gosh. Like the things I have been doing absolutely add up. So just hang out there. I did it. You, MJ, I feel like we should have fireworks for you. I did it. I hit exactly 50 pounds down from my heaviest weight from five years and 45 days ago. The last three years with Gina and I
Starting point is 00:30:15 couldn't have done it without you. Never give up. You'll get there. I love this week's tweak. It's so empowering. Okay. I just want to talk. about MJ for a second because MJ, one, I love she's been so vocal. She has been so vocal. She has been part of our community sharing when she's struggling, sharing when she's not sure, sharing when she's excited and all of this. I honestly, and it has been a journey three years. It has been a journey for you to get this done. And not that not like it's just, I'm so happy. I can't even tell you how happy I am. But I also knew you could do it. I was so, I'm sure sometimes if you were going to stick around long enough to actually do it, because I'm
Starting point is 00:30:52 like the frustration for sure, right? I honestly could not be happier for you. This is just amazing. I hit exactly 50. Now, just remember that it'll probably go up today. It's not real weight gain and stick with it over the next couple days because your weight's going to continue to drop, right? Because you might be like, I did it. And then my weight goes up. It's not real weight gain. It's just those fat cells kind of filling back up again. And then your weight will settle on your new weight. I did it. I hit exactly 50 pounds down from a heaviest weight from five years ago and 45 days. last three years with you and couldn't have done it without you never give up you'll get there you will get there life is what makes it difficult for us sometimes what's going on in our bodies especially through
Starting point is 00:31:31 menopause hormones stress the state of our bodies when we get here right like that's it's not like it's not that you can't do it it's just everything that you've done before and the way that you've been living your life and some of us with so much stress right our bodies are so broken we're broken down physically mentally and you know that's that's what i'm on a mission to do when you get to middle life and I've been thinking about this lately. My best friend turned 50. I'm 53. And I'm just like, what do I want this second half of my life? Now, I do plan on living to 120 something. Maybe I'd love to push it to 150, but I want to stick around for as long as possible. What do I want that to look like? Like, how do I want to feel? You know, and I'm just so tired of feeling tired. I'm actually going to
Starting point is 00:32:14 start committing to getting up and doing a workout every morning at 7.30. I went for a walk this morning. I got up. I went for a walk. I was out there for like an hour. I'm just so done. I just want to feel my best. And this doesn't mean about my weight either, right? Like this isn't like, okay, of course we all want to feel our best, but we want to lose the weight. This is beyond that. This is in, this is like in what I choose to do with my time every day. I was away last week. I didn't watch TV once. Not even once. Didn't watch, didn't even notice. We had this back deck and we just didn't even watch TV once. I got up in the morning, made coffee, we went for walks or we just chilled out. And I, you know, I get back and it's so easy to get back into my Game of Thrones. It's nice to flake out and watch TV for sure. But, you know,
Starting point is 00:32:58 what do I want to do with my time, my energy, my money? You know, what do I, you know, like, what do I want to spend it on? Like, what's important to me, you know? How do I want to live my life? And that has nothing to do with my weight. Who are the people that I want to connect with? Like, I want community. I want community. I want to. I want to. I want to. I had, like, you know, I love my week away. My favorite time was meeting our members and having it. I think because we're like-minded, we get into such deep conversations because, like, I, you guys know everything about me.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Maybe that's what it is. TMI. TMI. I don't know what it is, but I've been thinking about that lately. So I love this for you. I love this for you. It's so much more than weight loss, what we do here in the program. so much more than weight loss.
Starting point is 00:33:50 Hey, Linda, you want to be my friend? Yes, exactly. I like this all the time. If I meet someone, I think they're cool. I'm like, can we be friends? But then you have to like, so I met Lisa from Sahajan skincare. I got her oil wash is like just to love her. So I, she messaged me on Instagram and I message her.
Starting point is 00:34:09 I think I just messaged, hey, I love your face oil, great product, girl. And then she's like, oh my God, I love you. and I was like, hey, let's go for lunch. And it was so random. And in that moment, I was like, book it now. And so I booked it. And then we both showed up. And we had this lunch.
Starting point is 00:34:32 And I'm like, I like, I like you, let's be friends. And she was like, what can you commit to? And I'm like, I'm the worst. You know, I can commit to a lunch like, you know, maybe every month. And she's like, how about we get together like four times? How about we start with four times a year? And we can connect and you can tell me what's going on with you. And now she's got our product in Sephora.
Starting point is 00:34:52 I'm so excited. But I had to be like, take this woman and be like, hey, do you want to be friends? And how are we going to start our friendship? Right. So that's how you do it. That's how you do it. I don't think I could do the program without checking in with this group. The conversations are amazing and the stories of real life examples are truthful.
Starting point is 00:35:10 You know, I cannot stand. I don't know about you guys, but going on social media and. seeing AI is just really, I just like, it's like really turning me off. Like, you don't know what's real. And the Taylor Swift, you guys watch the Taylor Swift stuff, she got married, good for her, whatever, you know. And I was like trying to see like, okay, what the dress look like. And all AI had 10 different versions because people were just making up their own stuff. And I think some of it's funny, like posing with a celebrity, you're clearly not. Like, there's some parts of it that are funny, but I just can't trust anything anymore.
Starting point is 00:35:46 I can't trust. I can't, you know, the other day I'm watching this girl show fashion. It's not, it's like an AI version of her showing fashion. I was like, oh, fuck, you know. So I want to have real conversations. I was sharing with one of the ladies on the weekend that this is where you're going to notice some of, we're going to diversify some of our conversations. So I have Terry Hart coming on, for example.
Starting point is 00:36:07 She has a podcast about taking care of aging parents. And she's kind of been working with me and doing my program and what. So I'm going to have her come on and talk about that. We have a bunch of guests that are scheduled that we're going to kind of really broaden the conversation. It's one thing to show up. Yeah, you know the things you need to do to lose weight. But then also what can we talk about that is relevant to where we're at and what we're doing?
Starting point is 00:36:31 So you might have noticed with our guest conversations this year, this program, sorry, they weren't contrived in a sense of like this is what we're talking about. It was like in the moment, what's the conversation? So we're going to keep that going. We're going to keep that going. We have all of our base conversations, supplements. and stuff. We're going to continue to do those. But I really think there's so much more to talk about when it comes to our health and our wellness and living our best life. And then also with where we're at
Starting point is 00:36:54 in midlife. And there's so many brilliant women, especially having these conversations out there. So I'm going to invite them on into the group, into the community and create a lot of resources. Also building up our menopause like conversation. So, you know, that's why I'm going to add all that content. So the AI is stacked with all of our menopause content. You can ask it any question in regards to any stage of menopause that you're in, building on that. that conversation for people who registered, GLP1 conversation we're building in. But yeah, I want to get into it. I want to talk about all of it.
Starting point is 00:37:22 I want to be really fucking real about it. I just want to be real. I want to connect. It's interesting because I was going to start these 730 workouts. And then I was just like, oh, my God. I don't know. I'm tired. And I went for a walk.
Starting point is 00:37:34 And I'm like, you know what? I'm going to do it. Tomorrow I'm going to start. And I'm just going to get up every day. I'm going to move my body at 730. If you want to join me, I'm going to stream it into the group. Maybe some days we'll do weights. We'll do bands.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Maybe we'll just stretch. maybe we'll shoot the shit and drink our coffee, but I'm just, you know, um, yeah, I'm looking forward to it. This round I was all over the map. I fell off, jumped back on and absolutely surprised I didn't gain weight. Nancy, I am not surprised. I am not surprised because a little goes a long way. I want to go back to MJ for a exact. MJ, not only did you lose that weight, but you did it in the healthiest ways. You did in a way you're going to actually be able to maintain and sustain. That's the part. And all of the fight, all of the struggle, all the frustration, everything that you fucking went through to lose that 50 pounds, all of that is going to
Starting point is 00:38:16 matter when it comes to maintaining and sustaining your weight. Because look what you've learned. Look how in tune you are. That makes a difference. Same thing with you, Nancy, right? All over the map, you fell off, you jumped back in. You're surprised you didn't gain weight because you know what to do to not gain weight because the little things that you did do here and there absolutely added up. Nobody has lost their weight by starving and depriving themselves. That's the difference. Your body's on your side, It doesn't want the fat anymore than you do. Everything you've been taught about dieting is wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
Starting point is 00:38:47 You know, and if you do it the right way, your body works for you, not against you. What I've learned from this program, even when my clothes are crap, my choices are crap. Sorry, my contacts are not working. I have been able to maintain huge fucking deal, massive, amazing, non-scale victory right there. That is huge. 98% of people who do our maintenance program, people who've lost way through the program, who've done the maintenance program, 98% believe that they can maintain and sustain their weight because they know they learn what they need to do in order to do that. Love that.
Starting point is 00:39:22 My goal was to exercise more than fractured my ankle, trying not to be discouraged, leg lifts, sit-ups, weights for arms, but now my neck is out. I feel like my body is fighting me. I did something to my neck too while I was away and I was just like, oh, it's still like when I turn it, you know, it hurts when you swallow. And I've had a bad back. So my, I wasn't, I wasn't moving first couple of days in my trip. And then my back kind of tweaked. And I was like, get your ass up, honey. But my movement is to make sure that my back doesn't go out on me. And so that's sort of my why with that. The fact that you have been doing leg lifts and situps and weights and arm stuff, even with a fractured ankle, huge, huge. And now your neck is out. That sucks. But you're here today. You're here
Starting point is 00:40:05 today. It can. Getting old is a bitch, man. It just feels like every, I talked to my mom. I talked to my mom yesterday. She's been working with a personal trainer for like two years. I made her in the beginning. And now she loves it. My mom's like, I feel great. Like she's so consistent, twice a week, doing her workout. She's like, I'm actually walking. She's like, I feel really good. I wake up in the morning. I have no aches and pain. She's 73 years old. Three mom? 73, 74? Not really sure. And I was like, yeah, I want to be like my mom. I am waking up with aches, with pains. I'm tired.
Starting point is 00:40:40 I'm like, but am I doing all those things? You know what I'm saying? So hang in there, Angela. Hang in there. You've had this season. You've had this season. But, you know, you're doing it. You're doing the things.
Starting point is 00:40:52 Paulette, I'm 12 days post from total knee replacement and I'm feeling all the feels. There we go. Emotions, pain, bloating, swelling, lack of movement, then add the scale. Being at someone else's mercy, super humbling. This is when we feel so grateful for our lives and we commit to being healthy when we can't. When our necks out, our backs out, when we have knee replacement surgery, when we're dealing with, you know, whatever, right? That's why the little things we can do to keep it going in between make a huge difference.
Starting point is 00:41:21 That's that motivation. You can see all my mosquito bites. Love P.E. I hate your bugs, man. Mosquitoes. Deer flies, horse flies. Gosh, apparently it's like all done in the next couple of days. Aqua fit is great for those knee problems.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. It took me three programs to lose 20%, which was comfortable and been maintaining for over one year. You know, this is where I've seen it all. I've seen it all, right? And that's why I'm not big into everyone's journey is individual. That's why I'm not into like, you know, someone loses 5%, some loses 1%, someone loses, someone loses, you know, you have someone you can lose 25% in one round and then they lose 1% in the next round because their body's adjusting, right? Everyone is so different. No one talks about that. Also, no one talks about the stuff that we're talking about in the maximizing post today either, right? Like how long certain foods break down in your system. So that's an interesting one if you haven't seen it. Took me three programs to lose 20%,
Starting point is 00:42:21 which was comfortable and been maintaining for over for over one year. I dropped another seven pounds over last summer, but it came back. So I'm so glad to get that off and keep it off this time. Everyone thinks we, because my husband-law 60, used GLP-1s. People don't know you can lose weight in a healthy way. People outside of our program don't know that a program like this exists, right? Like they just, they don't. And then when GLP-1s came around, so people assume that if you were successful at losing weight, it's because you starved yourself, you did deprive yourself, or you did something else unhealthy for you. And that's what we get because people just don't know.
Starting point is 00:42:56 93%, no, 87%. 87% of our members do not use weight loss medications. And the living method worked before weight loss medications became a thing. And then at the same time, we've been doing this. People have been taking Ozeptic to manage diabetes for years the whole time, right? And so that's just people's mindset is that you can't lose weight a large amount of weight in a healthy way. And then also you can't maintain and sustain your weight.
Starting point is 00:43:23 Yeah, heck yeah, you can. And perfect example, over 100 pounds, probably close to 100. I've maintained for over 30 years, right? There's times of my life where I'm a little higher, sometimes I'm lower, but I know what I need to do to navigate life. And it's so crazy that the industry makes us believe that our bodies want this fat and that we're incapable of losing it in a healthy way and that we're incapable of maintaining it and that we need to count and way and fucking measure to know what to eat. Right? It's so crazy because we're so disconnected and out of tune with ourselves. So disconnected and out of tune with us. We got this. We got this. We got this.
Starting point is 00:43:59 Okay. Thanks for joining me today. If you can't tell, I'm excited to be back. I mean, I love being away, but I love it. And I love this week for you. I love where we're at. Go right to the very end of the program. We flag back on your journey. Your journey's going to continue. We're going to be talking about maintenance for those who are ready next week. But we are not done yet. Not done yet. And then even when we're done, we're not done because we still have our summer club. We're going to continue. I'm going to still check in. We're going live. We're doing all the things as part of our membership. not freaking going anywhere. Have a fantastic rest of your day.
Starting point is 00:44:26 If you want to join me tonight, we'll be coming back doing a little Q&A, but you'll probably be out about doing something more fun. But it's fun to me. So I would love to see you later if you're around. Have a fantastic day, everyone. And I'll see you then. Bye.
