The Livy Method Podcast - You Don't Get What You Want. You Get How You Feel About What You Want.

Episode Date: July 23, 2026

You can lose the weight and still feel like a stranger in your own body. Identity-led transformation coach Hina Khan joins Gina Livy to explain why so many women regain weight even after doing everyth...ing right. It's not from a lack of discipline, but because their self-image never caught up to the change. They get into the idea of a mental "set point," why you unconsciously undo your own progress to feel normal again, the trap of "when-then" living (I'll be happy when I hit the goal), and why imposter syndrome isn't a stop sign, it's a signal to expand your capacity, not shrink your goals.Hina Khan is the author of A Return to You and host of The Possibilities with Hina Khan podcast.Where to Find Hina:Website: https://hinakhan.caInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/coachwithhinaYou'll find Hina's book, A Return to YOU, here: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/1965653278 This podcast aligns with Day one of our Summer Club, members can find video in our Livy Method app or Summer Club Community Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/livymethodspring2026 Hosted on Acast. I thought it was Hina like Gina. I thought it was going to be a really, fun match, but here we are. So I apologize for butchering your name all week long, but I'm excited that you are here, Hina. So Hina is also the author of the book. I return to you and host of the
Starting point is 00:01:18 possibilities with HinnahCon podcast. I mean, we're also excited about this, Hina, because we are just a group of women trying to make change. We're pivoting in our lives. We want to go deep. We want to work through all of our issues and associations. We want to know what's holding us back. So hello, welcome. Thank you so much, Gina. I am so thrilled for the conversation we're about to have. So what is the conversation? Like what, what's your, what's the thing that you like to talk about the most that gets you really excited? I really love to talk about how our identity is really the cause of the effects that we see in our life. So you've seen this, Gina. People can come to you and they want to make a change. But if there's only thinking about it at the surface level or maybe they're just like they get some momentum from
Starting point is 00:02:13 the early excitement. But a lot of times with change, the middle part is boring or it's messy. And with that, what will sustain you is your identity of being a person that can weather that and can go through that because you have a future vision that is pulling you. as opposed to making your decisions from the past. Yes. Yes. I mean, this is, this is, this is you. You are an identity-led transformation coast. Okay, so we're trying, we can feel. We can feel what we want. We are trying to design a life that we want to live. We know it. We feel it in our soul. We know we are meant for something that is not necessarily this and where we're at right now. So we want to make change. We can feel it.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Women here are wanting to lose weight. So they gained it for whatever reason, right? Stress in their lives. After having children, going on all these diets, whatever reason cause them to gain the weight. So now they're looking to release that weight. We have women who have lost the weight and they're trying to figure out who they are and now. They're learning to trust that they're going to be able to continue to maintain and sustain their weight.
Starting point is 00:03:31 Then we have women here are just trying to figure it all out. They're just getting started on their journey. So this is this, what do you mean by the surface stuff? Like how do we know we're not going deep enough? So when we look at all of those three categories of your clients, women in different parts of their journey, you don't get what you want, you get how you feel about what you want. So you can want to be in a different body, in a different size, and that can be something that you want. But if you feel unworthy, if you feel like I've tried it before, it never works. If you feel like you are not deserving, if you don't, I know this may sound odd, but if you don't feel like you are a person at that size, regardless if you are or not at this moment, if you don't feel that way, you're always going to come back to how you feel. And so that's why we have so much of the bouncing up and down or it's difficult to sustain because you have a set point.
Starting point is 00:04:39 and that set point is is comfortable for you. So when you go beyond it and you release some of the weight, if your identity isn't matched up to it, you are going to unconsciously undo, create chaos or complexity to get you back to your set point. I'm just letting that sit for a minute because we always talk about set point is the weight that your body gets used to.
Starting point is 00:05:12 It's factored everything around that. right body temperature metabolism hormones that's where it feels like it needs to be so we're giving the body what it needs helping it focus on fat loss but also as much as we talk about being mindful and mindset your mind has a set point too so if you're someone who's always been trying to lose weight or you've never been able to you've lost it but you've never been able to maintain that even if you go and lose your weight in all the ways that are going to help you do that if your mindset if you're a set point in your mind, if you're not working on that, then you're going to just revert back. That's exactly it. Because to your, it's like a furnace.
Starting point is 00:05:56 If it is at a certain temperature, if you've got it at a certain temperature in your house, and then let's say it's, you know, the heat is on, it's winter and you're opening the door and all this cold air is coming in and the temperature changes. Well, then what happens is the system activates to bring it back to that point. If it goes higher, it's not going to do anything. Yeah. It comes down. If it's lower, it's going to kick in. And so when you, so if you are not doing the identity work along, and you, many of your clients,
Starting point is 00:06:37 because they've had a tremendous success, have been doing this unconsciously. They have been bringing up the identity. be a match to the new version of themselves. But otherwise, there's a signal unconsciously that says something is wrong, we've got to go back. And you don't even realize that you are undoing it. It's so subtle. It's like, oh, we just missed that or that's not happening. And then next thing you know, you're back to where you were.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Because if you're a person and your identity is that I'm all. always trying to lose weight. Then when you lose it, you've got to go back to trying to lose weight. So how are you going to be that person and express it by gaining the weight so that you can again start to try to lose the weight? Oh, yeah. I mean, this is, this is so much bigger than that because this is also your relationship with other people. So if you've always been the quote-unquote fat friend and you're no longer the fat friend, someone else has to be the fat friend. And where where do you stand in that? I actually helped a client lose weight.
Starting point is 00:07:44 And she's like, yeah, but this is who people know me as. Like, what if people don't like me? I'm like, you're still you just with less weight. And she's like, yeah, but no, people are going to talk to me different, treat me different, see me different. And so she like sabotaged herself back to gaining that weight because that's, that's what was normal for her. That's where she felt comfortable.
Starting point is 00:08:04 So as much as we want to lose the weight, if we don't change the identity part around that, chances are whether we realize it not, we're going to bring ourselves back to that set point, back to what is normal and familiar for us. And that's because sometimes, and this is something that comes up, because this can be weight, this can be your finances in every area of your life. Some of us have a loyalty to struggle and a loyalty to things being hard or a loyalty to a group of people like you said that are comfortable in seeing us in a certain way. And that trumps what we want. Because also we can gain what we will, sorry, we can measure what we will lose, but not what we will gain.
Starting point is 00:08:52 And I know that that's interesting language for the work that you are in. But what I mean is that that client of yours could measure the loss of friendships, of connection, of relationships. And that was more powerful than being in a. a different body that was healthier. Yeah, yeah. I'm thinking of all the women. There's such a story where they started out Weight Watchers at a young age. They did Weight Watchers for 20 years.
Starting point is 00:09:19 They've lost. They were successful. Everyone's like, yay. They gained it back, right? And that was like that cycle, that conscious. So even though they know they're doing it differently in the way that we're doing it, they're going about it differently, that that's their identity, right? So even though they want to believe that they can maintain it,
Starting point is 00:09:34 chances are their actions eventually are going to lead them back to that set point, that baseline. How do we start with this identity? How do we even recognize we got this going on, Hina? Well, your world is a reflection of your identity. So from, again, everything, from the finances, relationships, health, everything. So what you can first start in is just look at the results in your life and how you feel about them. and if it is something that you want to change.
Starting point is 00:10:07 And obviously, everybody in your community, there is a desire for either changing something when it comes to the size of their body or it's wanting to maintain it or just have different options and be in a community of like-minded people as well, where health and their well-being is a priority. So even that is a different type of identity
Starting point is 00:10:28 when you make yourself, especially for women, the priority because we have been applauded for sacrifice, and putting ourselves last. That has been something that has been seen as a value, like, oh, so good, drops everything for everyone. Yeah. Yeah. And even, even like you said about the eating, like just eating the toddler's food, what they
Starting point is 00:10:50 haven't even finished, you know, even that process of it, nobody bats and I says, have you eaten properly? You know, so I think that when it comes to identity, what we can look at is look at our results. But what we want to understand is for your clients here on the call, when you're creating a goal, let's say, in this program, and when we do this in my program, it may feel like in my program, we call it an impossible goal or a stretch goal. It is not that it is impossible. So it's not that what you desire is impossible for you to be in that body, to be in that weight, to be in that shape.
Starting point is 00:11:42 It feels impossible to your current identity. Oh. But it is not impossible to the identity that has it. So what we, for that identity, it's very natural to be moving in that body for your pants to feel a certain way, for you to just feel, you know, not bloated or, you know, not bloated, or all of the things for you to feel that way. That's actually natural for that version of yourself. So what we want to do is create that version now.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Because many of us live in a when then life. When I reach that weight goal, then I'm going to wear the bikini or I'm going to go on this trip or I'm going to do that. When I reach the financial goal, then I'm going to take time off. but we're just conditioning ourselves to always be in the chasing and the wanting and not the having. The having comes from being, which is your identity.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Your identity is made up of your stories and your standards, the stories that you tell yourself. So there's going to be new stories from the place of the goal. And so one of the things that we do in my communities, we create what we call a document. And that is a way that you are living now that you are creating yourself. So one of the things I have in my document is that I respect, love, and admire every inch of my body. And because of that, there's a certain way that I will not talk about my body. Or if I do, I can catch it because of that. And then there's a certain way of me being.
Starting point is 00:13:23 If I am being that I respect, admire my body, I am moving. I am aware of what I'm consuming. So that's the identity work. So you've got this goal. So you guys all have this goal, those that are listening, of what you desire, even if it's to maintain it. What we want then, so we're not living a when then life, is that your actions now are coming from the future identity. So it's not waiting for something to happen. So you're loving your body now.
Starting point is 00:13:57 It's not a when this happens, I'm going to love my body. we got to stop being at war with our bodies. Yes. It has carried you this far. It's been beautiful. It has served you. We love our body now. We, you know, we move now.
Starting point is 00:14:14 We do things now, not waiting for something. And when you do that, you're now, you're now moving from the place of the goal that you think you would be moving from when you reach it. And now you're naturally that. And then the external is an outpicturing of the internal. And then there's, and then you'll start to see it in your environment. So yeah, this is, so we had a great conversation with Kathleen Cameron and she's all about manifesting.
Starting point is 00:14:45 And she was talking about being on this journey of getting healthy. And she used to look at going to the gym, was like, oh, I got to go to the gym and whatever. And now she's like, I love going to gym. You have to learn to love the changes that you've made and really embrace them. so they are part of who you are. How do we... Yeah, please.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love Kathleen. Kathleen and I are really, really good friends. So I would even go further than that. And I would say when it comes to identity, that identity trumps feelings. Look, there's times that I don't feel like going to the gym. There's times where I'm there and I'm bored.
Starting point is 00:15:22 And I just, you know, I don't love it. But I am a person that moves. I'm a person that takes care of my body. So I don't need to feel it to get motivated. I'm not waiting for the feeling. So in the mornings. So today, for example, we have this in the morning. Normally I would have gone to the gym or to a Pilates class.
Starting point is 00:15:44 And I do morning calls as well. So because I knew that I wouldn't have that, we did a long walk this morning right after my call. Because I'm a person that moves. And it has nothing to do with me feeling. like it. Yes. Like I am a yes. It's almost like you know that vision of you that you want to be if you lose 20 pounds, 60 pounds, 100 pounds, whatever. How does that, let's say you arrive there and you reach that goal. How does that version of you wake up in the morning? What is that versions of you routine?
Starting point is 00:16:17 How does that version of you go away on vacation, right? Are you just down in the margaritas and, you know, or are you like, sure, having a margarita, but also making sure you're hydrated, maybe going for getting up early and going for a walk. Like how does that, is that owning that version that you know you are meant to be or that you are striving for before you get there? It's being her now. And it's knowing that because your, your identity is made up of your standards and your story. So I have standards. I personally, if I'm on vacation, I actually love going to bed, you know, early. I love waking up early. Like that's just, and I like feeling good and clear. So for me, I will, you know, look, I enjoy an apparel sprits. And then my niece turned me onto a Hugo Spritz. And I will enjoy that. But I don't feel a
Starting point is 00:17:10 desire to overconsume that because my identity is that I like to be clear and feel really good the next day. Now, if something happened, it's not a big deal. If once in a while that happens, but it's my standards for myself. And so you want to, when you're looking at your identity, create your own standards for yourself and you're operating those standards. That's what you're living those standards. You're living, you know, what you're committed to, what you're truly committed to, not what you say you're committed to. I think sometimes the hardest part can be other people's version of us, right? Whether it is your spouse or your friends. Like I said to someone recently, oh, I could totally move so-and-so and live in the country.
Starting point is 00:17:56 And they're like, no, you couldn't. No, you would get bored in five minutes and you would be trying to do something or whatever. And I was like, like, no, I wouldn't. Like, just because you've never seen that version of me doesn't mean, like, you also don't see the version of me that sits out here in the morning and watches birds with my coffee, right? their version of me is like they don't know that the true identity within me so it's hard to make change sometimes when other people are telling you what you can and you cannot be yes and they're used to you being a certain way yes is the way that they know you and they know how to be with that version of you when we're doing an identity shift and this is what we're doing in
Starting point is 00:18:43 my community right now, and I was talking about this on my morning call this morning, is that it can require and usually does, and this may sound, you know, very harsh, but a death are killing off the present identity. And that's why it feels so scary. That's why we're going back and forth. But it requires you to release things that actually served you in some way, to release things in a way that you were validated and accepted, to release things in the way that people know you and that it is predictable. And you're going into this uncertainty of, you know,
Starting point is 00:19:29 you don't know how you will be responded to with this new version of you. And that's why I think a community that you have is so important because, has community allows you. You can see others that are doing it and learn from others as well, but feel like you have a space
Starting point is 00:19:49 for this new version to emerge. Is that, I just want to be really clear because when I think about my children, right? Like I don't even know, they definitely don't know who they are. They are trying to figure themselves out and I'm just letting them go with it. Like the other day, I looked at my son
Starting point is 00:20:04 and he was like wearing bell bottom jeans and like a crop top. I'm like, what is this vibe? I'm like, I'm digging it, dude. Whatever you got going on? He's like, I don't know. And you can see in front of your eyes, them trying to figure out who they are and where they fit in the world. Does that stop?
Starting point is 00:20:19 Or have we presumed that that stops? Like, my story is, I went to school. I got a job. I had kids. This is who I am now. I'm so-and-so's mom or whatever that is. Or maybe I don't have children. Are we meant to change and evolve our identity?
Starting point is 00:20:34 Or are we like the core identity? Like, can you just put that in perspective? Like, Madonna is constantly trying to, is constantly. reinventing herself. I love it. I feel like I can feel the change coming in this kind of, like I'm in this weird pivot right now. Like, who am I? What do I want in my life? I thought I wanted that. Now I realize I don't want that. Is that true human nature or are we being conditioned to feel that we're not good enough and we need to change? Which way, do you know what I'm saying here? So our nature is for expansion. And sometimes
Starting point is 00:21:11 we have judged that because we have desires. And it's like, and we judge ourselves for desiring something more or desiring something different, but that is actually very natural and it's part of our nature and it's part of evolution. And it's part of expansion. And it is infinite. Consciousness is infinite. And so when you are desiring something different now with where you are now, Gina, you can do that because you've done things that show you. You've got something to go, like, oh, I've done that.
Starting point is 00:21:44 I've loved it. It's brought me to hear. And I think now I desire a different experience. And now I desire a different experience. And so there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. We have made it wrong. And because we have heard things growing up, like as if it makes us ungrateful for what we do have and everything that we have created. Like, well, you're fine.
Starting point is 00:22:09 Like, look, you make this amount. You do this. Like, why would you want to change it? We want to change it because we're creative beings. And we're desiring another experience of ourselves that can happen through a different calling or living in the country will experience something different about ourselves. Where is the who do you think you are? Like when Kathleen came on, I was like, who does this bitch think she is?
Starting point is 00:22:38 Like, look at her go. Who does she think she is? I just ate it up. I love the energy should put out. In fact, all of our guests, our new guests that we have come on, someone mentioned like they love how everyone is saying the same thing, but differently, like that, that who do you, who do you think you are or imposter syndrome? Where does that fit in into this conversation?
Starting point is 00:22:58 So in my work and my research, I actually look at imposter syndrome, I think a little differently than the way that it is presented. Imposter syndrome makes complete sense. sense. If we look at this from the perspective of you're going for something that is not natural and normal for your current identity, of course you're going to feel like an imposter. But that does not mean that it's wrong. It's normal. You're going to feel like an imposter. It's going to feel different for you. But that doesn't mean that it is not yours or you are not worthy of it. It is simply that you've got to build up the capacity. I can give you an example. Like sometimes I use this
Starting point is 00:23:39 example with the cups. So let's say this is your identity, your self-image. This is the vessel. This is who you are. And you've got goals and desires that are in here. And I pour water in here. And I'm pouring your goals and desires that are in here into this cup. Well, you can't hold it. What has to change? What most people change is they minimize their goals and desires so it can fit in this. But that's not what has to change. You have to create the capacity, expand your capacity to be able to hold what you desire and the life that you desire. So to this, yeah, this feels like an imposter. Of course, it should. But we can't make, we're giving the meaning that that is wrong and we should stop. So I should minimize my desire. So I don't offend anybody.
Starting point is 00:24:37 and, you know, like on, you know, tiptoeing towards death. So we do that so that we don't, so that we can contain and hold it. But what we really need is an expanded, the work is to expand our capacity to be able to receive. And, you know, like I said, I've known Kathleen and I have been friends. I've known her in all different bodies, in all different sizes. And that is what she changed, before the external changed, the physical. it was the identity. I just have to speak to our members
Starting point is 00:25:10 who are listening right now. This is what personalizing the plan is. It's expanding that identity. So we're at this stage where, you know, where people are learning to trust when to eat, what to eat, how much to eat.
Starting point is 00:25:21 They're still working towards their goals, but so people are really nervous and they don't trust it. And this is a way to expand that. Okay, how do we, I know I can already tell in the comments. People are like, we're aware. We're really great at awareness around here.
Starting point is 00:25:36 What are actionable steps that people can take right now today to own this identity or to expand their capacity? Well, the first thing you have to do is create the identity. Oh. So, and that can come from the goal. So you've got a goal and there's a health goal in there, a physical goal in there, and maybe you've got some other goals as well. You want to start to go into that goal and really pen to paper, who is the, version of you that lives that. So that's where we start. Now, as you start to create that and reinforce it, one of the ways that you reinforce, but you've got to get crystal clear on who that is.
Starting point is 00:26:23 I'll give you an example. One of my clients is doing, is in real estate. And as we know, you know, the paradigm in real estate is that you're always busy. You've got to hustle and grind and all of that. So for her, busy and success, people say, oh, you're, you seem so busy, that was equal. If I'm busy and successful. Right. But from the version of her goal, she wants to double, triple what she's done with spaciousness and ease, time with the kids, with a whole different way of being. So we create that now. And then she is that version now. And then she is that version now. So what happens is as you get very clear on the identity that you desire, you're going to have situations right after this call that you're going to, you're going to want to respond to from that habitual autopilot response. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:23 Like you might, you might, I don't know if you guys do the scale, but maybe you jump on the scale and you see a number and it's like, it's like, see, didn't move, doesn't do it again. Yes. What I want you to do is you look at that number, but now you have awareness and then you respond to it from the goal. How does the person with the goal respond to that? Like, oh, that's interesting. Okay, that's what it is today. Like, does it ruin their whole day? I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:27:56 So what we start to do is we start to be, we create, it's not linear, it's quantum. We jump to the end and we live. from the end in how we're dealing with current things. Somebody says something to you. They say, oh, oh, like, and, you know, it's interesting. Since you lost the weight, you're a little bit different. And you're hearing it from the old identity of different is bad, different as I've changed, that they don't like this.
Starting point is 00:28:27 But now you're clear about the new identity. So you respond from that, yeah, I'm different. It feels so good. I'm loving it. Yes. Yes. Oh, my goodness. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:40 So putting pen to paper. Like, so when we feel like, because people do this, right? When I lose my weight, I'm going to this, this, this, this and this. But what is that person doing, right? What kind of life are they living? So, so how does that? So let's act like we already have the goal. And what is your life going to look like?
Starting point is 00:28:56 How do you wake up in the morning? What time do you wake up in the morning? How do you feel when you go to your closet? What is your closet full of? What is, what do you have for breakfast? fist. How do you handle stressful meetings? Do you pack your food as you go? You got your water. Like, are you working out? Like, what is that, what is that version who's already at the goal you want to be? Or that version who's been maintaining and sustaining their weight for years, right? How does that person living
Starting point is 00:29:23 they're alive? What are the conversations they are having with other people? That person who says, oh, you're going to, oh, you're eating a salad. Yeah, I love my leafy greens. I feel fantastic when I eat them. or oh, you're having a dessert. Yeah, I enjoy some dessert every now and then. Or that person, you know, maybe it's also like, and this is friendships to, Hannah, like if you're a friend group is you go out for lunch, let's say every Friday with your friends or once a month and they order burgers and fries or whatever and you want to be part of that, but you don't want to eat that.
Starting point is 00:29:57 That doesn't necessarily mean you have to change your friend group, but you have to be like, okay, I don't want to order the burger and fries. today. I want to be this person who is ordering something that makes me feel good. So can you give us across different scenarios what that would look like? Absolutely. So even with the friend group, again, from identity perspective, you may have a conversation with them before or in the WhatsApp chat. Just say, look, I can't wait to see everybody on Friday for our regular. I am doing. I am doing. something different. So I'm going to be there, but I will, you can, you can just say it. Like, I'm going to be having a salad and that. And here's the thing. You're going to inspire others as
Starting point is 00:30:43 well. Because people don't even know they can change their mind. We do things out of habit and history. Yes. Because we've done it for this long, we have to do it. So you may have to also look at your life and make some new agreements with people. Now, this is also very challenging. You may have outgrown that friend group. Yeah. And that's something that you'll have to look at. And then the piece about exactly what you said, like so I, from that, from that goal, I would be someone that does this.
Starting point is 00:31:14 So maybe you would be someone that would meal prep that would on Sunday take the time to go shopping and be more intentional. So again, as you start to do that, you're not doing it because you feel like going to the grocery store on a Sunday. You're not doing it because you feel like meal prepping. You're doing it because it is who you be. It is who you are. And then that starts to become your habitual way of doing things. But at first, it is a practice because we're going to default. We're going to default to our, you know, autopilot habits and our previous standards
Starting point is 00:31:53 because they've just been embedded in us. So for a while, it's going to take some time. But I promise you, what happens is when you're on that other side and it's starting to change, it actually feels more like you because you're not trying to manage misaligned things in your mind. Misaligned people, misaligned experiences, misaligned work, misaligned clients, misaligned, you know, agreements, conversations. You're not living in life where you're trying to manage that. suppress what you really want so you can just stay in this to make everyone else comfortable.
Starting point is 00:32:36 Well, this is, to bring it full circle to our members listening, the reason why people gain way back is one, they don't give their body time to adjust to that point, physically, mentally, and then they go back into old habits, or they don't, they don't handle situational change. Something traumatic happens in your life, change in job, someone passes away. So then you go back into the familiar old habits. Or you're not being mindful. and what happens, you're going back into old habits. So you keep going back to that familiar.
Starting point is 00:33:04 So when you go back, there's a couple things I want to ask. Two more things. So I know we're already at time. When you fall back into old habits, how do you recognize that and get yourself back to this new place? And then also I want to talk about grieving that old place. Yes, yes. So you will know, you may not know right away.
Starting point is 00:33:25 It kind of depends when it starts to happen. But if you've just starting this work and starting to create this identity, you may not realize it. But then at some point you do. So one of my clients that said that there's some times where it just feels like she just wants to put this heavy weighted velvet blanket and crawl under it. So what do I do? Do I have to catch it before? And I'm like and I said, no, it's not about that.
Starting point is 00:33:50 It's when you recognize it, then you move. Then you take the blanket off. And you might have been under it for hours, but you just didn't. realize it. So whenever you recognize it, then now you have the awareness. And you can just even ask yourself, what would the person with my goal do? Oh, just to interrupt it, give you an idea, and you move and do it. So that's what I would say about course correcting. And look, my whole life is a bloody court course correction. We're all just trying our best. Like I, you know, yeah, You know, the kid shows up with the bell bottoms cropped up.
Starting point is 00:34:29 We're just trying to figure it out. Trying to figure it up. So it's also not making that falling back wrong. Ooh. It's because then we're now there. It's just what I have noticed that collapses time is can you have a strong bounce back game? You realize it. You're course correct.
Starting point is 00:34:53 You're not judging yourself. You're not beating yourself up or getting down on your. yourself. So that is what I would say to allow you to be able to keep moving is to whenever you whenever you realize it to then ask yourself what would the person with my goal to. Well, we have this technique physically back on track. But then people forget back on track is like, yeah, physically these are the drink my water, manage my sleep, eat it in a certain way. But it's also that mindset of getting yourself back as well. So it's not just the physical things that you're doing. It's that mental thing. Okay. Before we go, talk about green.
Starting point is 00:35:27 I know that seems weird to end on grieving, but there is grieving that old life that I got to indulge. I used food as a coping mechanism. I hung around certain people that that was their behavior. Like, I am not that person I used to be. I kind of miss that person. The grieving process of becoming not someone new, but becoming this different version of you. Yeah. We were actually, we just talked about this on my morning calls, this exact thing about grieving.
Starting point is 00:35:55 and it's really important actually. I think in our world today, things can morph into toxic positivity. Yes. Very quickly. And you don't want to do the bypassing, spiritual bypassing, emotional bypassing. And there can almost be, it becomes a different, it can become a different kind of pressure. Like, I've got to get this. I've got to get this new identity.
Starting point is 00:36:25 I've got to perfect this. So we just take that into something else. And we feel like if we are grieving and we're missing that version of ourselves, that that is an indicator that there is something wrong. But it is a natural, again, a natural part of the process. And here's the thing. Allowing yourself to grieve it and be honest with yourself will allow you to hold the next version a lot easier. because you have completed it.
Starting point is 00:37:00 So many times we do not complete things. We avoid, we leave, we bypass. So you want to honor that version of yourself that brought you to this level of awareness. And you would not be where you are right now without the learnings. And that has literally carried you step by step to this. and it has done its job.
Starting point is 00:37:27 It has done it. And so part of the grieving is also recognizing a completion with that. And I love that that is something that you talk about, Gina, because I think that that would be one of the differentiators of your program because it's not this toxic positivity or bypassing, which is one of the things that will get you right back to where you were. I mean, it feels great when you achieve it and you're there. We have like the program.
Starting point is 00:37:59 We always talk about people who have A-type people and they can follow guidelines. They do what they need to do. And they just get it done and they achieve their goal. But then they get into our maintenance and then they realize, oh, I have so much of this work and this stuff to unpack and work on and work through. Because although I reached my physical goal, yes, they now need to do the majority of the work on all of that mental stuff. Like you cannot bypass.
Starting point is 00:38:23 There's just not a quick fix. for anything. Look, if there was, take my money. Find me up. This is, you know, I think, and I think that's why I actually think
Starting point is 00:38:36 this is the most courageous work you can do, you know, because you're facing yourself. Yeah, I, listen, it would be so easy for me just to, you know, shovel shit and, you know, make people feel so hopeful and toxic positivity. It's not easy having the hard conversations. It's not.
Starting point is 00:38:54 But you got to, you know, when you're feeling a little uncomfortable or resistant, that's usually when you're like, you're getting close to doing the work you need to do. Hina, that's our time for today. I can talk to you forever. I know people are going to want to reach out and find you. I know that you are on social media. Coach with Hina. That's H-I-N-A. Do you also have, do your website, Drew?
Starting point is 00:39:16 Yes. H-I-N-A-K-H-A-N dot CA. Just you offer courses. is like if someone wanted to work with you Hina, how does that work? We offer a few different ways of working together. And one of my signature ways is our morning calls that we call them that I had today. And what this really is, it's around creating that identity and reinforcing it so that it becomes your new, well, what I say, you're now normal to be able to enlarge your capacity to receive all that you want from the wealth, from financial to your health, this health is wealth, to the relationships and creating
Starting point is 00:39:59 standards for yourself that then ripple into every other area of your life. And those programs will be ending this year. And if you would like to join it or just learn more about it, shoot me a DM.
