Starting point is 00:00:00 The best part of waking up is whatever you prefer in your cup. And supporting TMS today at patreon.com slash TMS coming up on the morning stream, Hottie and the Bluefish. This is about the pills of pee. Wash me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only soap. Get baconated. Nothing beats a jet shits holiday.
Starting point is 00:00:19 The key to trivia night is the trivia. Not another night of pooping peepers with puppet people. Live human appearance. Oregon besmirchment. More like Spokane. Am I right? handsome young boy man. This burger needs more thumper.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Bearwood Woman Resident. Treadwives and the Today Show with Amy and more on this episode of The Morning Stream. Gymnasium was strictly male territory, but then literally overnight, the so-called weaker sex began to muscle in in both senses. And today, girls like model Wendy Peters are bringing a touch of glamour to an otherwise somewhat dull place. The reason for this sudden interest was the discovery that weight training could improve their figures without having to use heavy weights.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Any hard work, of course, is something. Still left to the men. Any day now, Capcom. The Morning Stream. You're a freaking a cannibal. And you've come to the wrong town. Hello, everybody, and welcome to TMS. This is the morning stream for Tuesday, August 4th, 2026.
Starting point is 00:01:28 I'm Scott Johnson. And that guy right there is Brian Abbott. Hi, Brian. Right here. I'm here. I'm over here, you guys. I'm over here. Oh, I like this mini Mickey Mouse shirt combo deal you got going there.
Starting point is 00:01:39 I just noticed it. That's awesome. It's the weird color Mickey shirt. Like, these aren't Mickey's real colors. What's this? Why is he wearing green pants? I like it. And yellow shoes.
Starting point is 00:01:51 Change it up. We've had enough of normal Mickey. Oh, enough of that guy. Yeah. Get wild, Mickey. Exactly. I've been craving. You know, I haven't been to Disneyland since 20.
Starting point is 00:02:02 So five years. And prior to that, between BlizzCon and other trips out to see my family out there, it felt like I was going maybe once a year. And then nothing since 2021. I'm like, I am so craving a Disney trip. Just, you know, a little space mountain, some dolewip. Check out the new runaway railway. Check out new stuff that they've added since. What if you can get Mitzula to me out there and do one of his trips?
Starting point is 00:02:32 It would not be hard to meet Mitsul up there. Like he seems like he goes out there. Well, I know he always goes out there for Oogie Boogie Bash and does a costume and stuff. But yeah. Yeah, no. He don't need no excuse. He'd love to go, I'll bet. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Oh, he's no longer a Magic Key pass holder. Oh, interesting. What happened there? I don't know. He was going often enough that it made sense for him to do Magic Key, right? Because if you go more than four times a year or go for more than four days, Yeah. You know, two two day trips kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:03:04 You know, it pays for itself. My last one was 2018, I think. Been a while. Yeah. So, yeah, probably do one. It's been a while. Been a while. Hey, good news.
Starting point is 00:03:19 Yeah. Here in the Salt Lake Valley. Lower temperatures. Yeah. Drop down to 80 today. It'll be a high of 80 today. But here's the problem. Something's burning again.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Yeah. I don't know what and who. And where, but... Other direction. Oregon this time. Oh, is it Oregon this time? Yeah. You bastards.
Starting point is 00:03:35 I know. Same thing here. We're gonna see a high today of 76. Wow. Which is crazy. It's been 100 degrees for like, you know, eight of the last 10 days or something. Yeah. And tomorrow goes right back up to the mid, the high 90s, mid-90s.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Oh, Washington. Not Oregon. Oh, it's not Oregon? Oh, we have besmirched the entire state of Oregon. Sorry. We have. Sorry. Sorry, Portland.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Yeah, but Washington, you can take it. You guys can take it. You'll be all right. You're the home of grunge. You don't care. Oh, Spokane. That's right. I did hear that.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Yeah, Spokane. Okay. Spokane. Am I right? Lowy D. says Spokane is has burned. That's the new, that's the new, Atlantis has fallen. You know, the new movie in that series.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Oh, yeah. There you go. Spokane is has burned. Yeah. where's uh gerard butler is he ready to go again got one more in him let's get it out there uh well all right yeah it's okay it's like 80 today or will be right now it's 69 nice nice uh but it will be 80 but then and so i'm thinking yeah that sounds great 80 yeah i'm gonna go out there and this and that and i look out in the sky and i'm like where are the mountains yeah they don't exist right now it's a
Starting point is 00:04:55 big haze of gross. So yeah, thanks, Spokane. I guess I'll not go out and breathe all that, you know. I know. We just can't catch a break. It's either ridiculously hot or it's you know, particulate's in the air that would be harmful for us to,
Starting point is 00:05:11 farme for us to go out and breathe. Yeah, I forget what our, let's see, does it say? My watch tell you. The watch probably tells you the index thing, right? Oh, yeah, the AQI. See, here. Yeah, if you tap on the weather, Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:27 There's three little scaly deal or scrolly. Yeah, but you think you can even tap in the center of the, let's see. I get wind, UV index, humidity, clear humidity. What is a, wait, what is a QI as average air quality index. That is it. Air quality index. Okay, so that right now is at 78, which is, oh, 88's high. maybe it's high. It's starting to get into the orange.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Mine's a yellow 78, but that could change, I guess. Anyway, it depends on the winds. But yeah, hey, you know, come on, summer. Give us a break. Give me a minute to let me either enjoy you for one reason or enjoy you for another reason instead of having some reason why that day is bad. Like we had the clearest, most beautiful day last week. It was 105 or something. What was supposed to do? Go out and that and, you know, get all baconated out there F that. Yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Plus, my doctor's got me on some freaking these pee pills that make your skin. They make your skin sensitive to. Oh, yeah, right. Sun stuff or UV, whatever. So I have to be careful about all that. It's really annoying. Extra extra SPF, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Yeah, so load up, cream up. That's what they say, cream up. Cream up. Yeah. Get your cream on. Get your cream on. feel right doesn't feel right at all oh it doesn't all right uh i have uh a quick recommendation of something not to do okay but also kind of it depends on who you are so you know i we're
Starting point is 00:07:11 kim and i were getting over kind of a tummy thing with the with the weird food we had yeah and i admittedly it's taken a few days of just kind of you know ease back in don't just it's not one of those overnights where you're like, bam, let's go eat a pizza. It's like, you got to, you got to work it. You got to, you got to let your system sort of have a gentle time, right? We're a little tender, a little tender. So last night, we did the, we thought, you know what? I think we've done our part. It's time for, you know, let's go spend one of these Costco gift cards again. Let's go somewhere we feel like eating. And she says, how does wings it, what's it called? Slackwater sound. And I said, that sounds fantastic because Slackwater's great.
Starting point is 00:07:54 The wings are baked. They're amazing. And they got great pizzas and just super nice staff. And we really like this place. So we go over there and we get all that. And it's great. And then the guy comes at the end, this handsome young boy man. And he goes, he's our waiter guy, server man.
Starting point is 00:08:13 And he goes, he's very tall. None of this matters to the story. But he just struck me as extremely tough. theater of the mind. You're helping us all kind of paint that picture of you guys that's like while we're getting at least, you know, you didn't turn and be eye to eye with his belly button or something. No, no, no, no, nothing like that. And no good stories about him brushing his crotch past my ear or anything like that. Good.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Good stories. I feel like that. You know, the high quality story. Yeah, yeah. That I often come away with. But we're sitting there and he comes over and he goes, so would you guys be liking any dessert? and we're feeling a little saucy like we're over this thing you know let's let's give it a shot and she goes yeah so kim goes how about and i can't have much of it because i'm you know
Starting point is 00:08:59 i'm trying to blow the shug out of the life style sure but she says let's get the chocolate cheesecake and of all the options on on the offering it was the least sugary plus i can just have a little side of it you know i'm not going to go crazy or whatever so we did that decided to split it it was really good. Rather rich, as they say. That's a weird word, isn't it? When they say something's rich. Or just rather, oh, rich.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Yeah, why do you think we do that? Is that just because it's like because normally if you say that guy's rich or that guy has a lot of money or if you say which came first, rich for describing money or rich for describing the consistency of food or the decadence?
Starting point is 00:09:45 The decadence. The decadence of food, I think. Maybe that's it. Because you can have something that's very buttery and that's rich. It doesn't have to be the sweetness, right? It's like, oh, man, this, this, this bisque, it's rich. Yeah. Because it's very, like, overwhelmingly, either sweet or flavored or whatever.
Starting point is 00:10:03 I don't know. That's a weird thing that we've done there with the English. But it is heavy. Pretty rich, pretty heavy, pretty dense. Sure. And I have a little bit of it. Not too bad. Well, that was an air.
Starting point is 00:10:14 That was an air in judgment. Oh, no. Because last night we get home, we're just like, like nothing as bad as the other day, but just, you can tell your body just went, hey, man, I'm still in here trying to get over the previous bullshit. What are you doing? And so another. Not another night of, not another night of shitting or anything, but just kind of grumpy. Nothing. It's a two holiday.
Starting point is 00:10:38 Just kind of a like, bloaty, like, you know, you can just tell that it wasn't time. We jump the clock and so take my advice. Don't do that to yourself. Sorry to hear it. Yeah. That's a bummer. Yeah. Take it easy for a few more days.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Broth. Scott, just broth. Yeah, broth for the next three days. Probably lose a couple pounds doing that. That'd be all right. There you go. Yeah. I say that until noon and then I'll be dying and I won't be able to do it.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Right. Of course. Yes, exactly. Tonight is trivia night. We're going to a place called Atomic Cowboy, but they've got, during the day, yeah, during the day they are, or in the mornings they are
Starting point is 00:11:18 the Denver Biscuit Company and then at night they switch to a pizza place. Can't remember the name of the pizza, but it's like they have three names for this place. Oh, actual names for the place. Fat Sully's, thank you, Burgess Diesel, yeah. So it's, it's Denver Biscuit Company, Fat Sully's, Atomic Cowboy.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Now, Fat Sully's is the pizza. Yeah. Denver Biscuit Company is their breakfast and I think maybe even some brunchy kind of stuff. And then Atomic Cowboy is basically the bar. But this place is not much bigger than my basement. Weird. You know, it's not huge.
Starting point is 00:11:55 It's not like a dining hall. They can have three separate restaurants. It's really just one restaurant space with the kitchen changing over a couple times a day. Did they change the marquee or do anything on the outside? No, no, not at all. As a matter of fact, their sign has all three places listed. Oh, okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:12:12 Never seen that before. That's crazy. Weird. Yeah, they claim to have, and I've tried it, and it's okay, the, what, I guess, Westward, which is our indie newspaper, called the best burger in Colorado. And you thought it was just all right, wasn't, you know. I thought it was good. Yeah. I mean, in compare, what would you say is better in Colorado, burger-wise?
Starting point is 00:12:38 I mean, my favorite is the burger at Freedom. Street Social, which is a dining hall. And it's a, it's a bison burger. And I'm trying to remember the name of the guy. He was on, he was on chopped or he was on one of those
Starting point is 00:12:56 cooking reality shows. Let me find it's see here. I've taken pictures of that, of this burger before and put it, shared it with you guys. Yeah, I feel like we've talked about something familiar about this. Yep, exactly.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Let me find the name. love a good burger oh my god it's so good they do trivia on Tuesday nights too we could easily go there but we don't like their trivia it's oh the trivia see that's the key to a trivia night is the trivia you gotta have to have to trivia
Starting point is 00:13:27 yeah it's got to be good gaucho paria it is Oscar Padilla who I guess was unchopped but he's got where is it it is there here it is oh man Oscar's Wild Burger
Starting point is 00:13:44 Wild game blend. Bison, deer, elk, and wild boar, and a rich, savory patty, blueberry, bourbon, pecan jam, mustard, provolone, peanut butter, pretzel bun. Holy shit. That's not it, actually. That actually sounds amazing, though. That's different. He's changed it up. Oh, Bisonberger's right above it. There it is. Oh, it's bison, okay. Bison burger. Bison burger. Bison, bacon, maple, jam, provolone, kale, chimitri, mayo, pretzel bun. That's the one that is the best. this is new Oscar's Wild Burger Wild Game blend Bison, Deer, Elk and Wild Boar
Starting point is 00:14:14 in a rich savory patty blueberry bourbon bacon jam mustard provolome peanut butter Pritzel Bun Dude Everything you just said sounds amazing I think it's time for a
Starting point is 00:14:26 A little field trip Start your day with a mouthful Of the Denver Exactly That sounds so good That really sounds good It is a $26 burger
Starting point is 00:14:39 That does not sound good. Well, whatever. I know. If you can get something that's truly amazing and it's like a once in a forever thing, like I get it. Right? Like it's a dude from chopped. It's a, you know, all that stuff. I think doing that is a one-off here and there is fine.
Starting point is 00:14:57 But as a regular like, hey, we're going to once a month go to my favorite burger place and it's $26. F that shit. What are we doing? Yeah. That's more than Netflix. Exactly. Wicked kitten says, I got to call a, I got to. I call a foul. Technically, that's a bison burger.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Well, yeah. I mean, it's in the name. Oh, well, not the wild game one. I mean, that is partially a bison burger, deer, elk, and wild boar. I mean, it's half the cast of Bambi and a burger, but... It almost sounds like a satanic ritual putting all those animals together. I know exactly. Do I need to wear a goat mask when I eat it? That's a lot. Is that like the most... What is more offensive to a vegetarian? Just the bison burger or the one with like five animals in it?
Starting point is 00:15:39 you know? That's a good question. Which is it? Or is it no difference at all? It may not be any difference, but it just seems like combining like six wild game animals. I think there's, it's probably no different.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Like, it's probably the same, right? You, you eat one animal, you eat six. It's all offensive. Yeah. Or do,
Starting point is 00:15:59 I guess what, but I can see your point. They killed six animals to make this as opposed to. Yeah. One animal to make a cow burger. Is it six times as offensive? Is it only, three times as offensive.
Starting point is 00:16:10 We need the vegans to weigh in. Let us know. Those burgers that we had the Gordon Ramsey place in Vegas? Oh, yeah. Those were pretty close to the best burger I ever had. They were really good. Those were up easily up there for me as well. Yeah, those were good.
Starting point is 00:16:26 Those were expensive, but they were good. The Cherry Cricket, which is kind of a Colorado institution, is another place that's well-renowned for its burgers. Cherry Cricket? The Cherry Cricket. Yeah, it used to be, used to be, in Cherry Creek or near Cherry Creek and so they called it the Cherry Cricket but now
Starting point is 00:16:43 there's one downtown by the by the stadium by the Rocky Stadium. It sounds great. I would eat something called that. Let's see. This month's burger, oh my God, here I'm giving you a link to their website. Look at this monster right here.
Starting point is 00:17:00 There we got. Cherrycicket.com bam. Oh! Look at that thing. Oh, that looks so good. I mean, you get one bite out of that and all of a sudden it's a fork and knife burger. Oh, yeah. There's no way this is not a sloppy mess, but still, geez.
Starting point is 00:17:18 Let's look at their whole menu here. Oh, dude. Yeah. Oh. How much is this shit? They don't have prices on their menu. Oh, that's scary. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Whenever they do that, I go, oh, that means they change them a lot. Let's see. The Crybaby was the 2024 people's choice. Half pound cricket burgers. Krustini, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, house made cheese, frico, crispy onion strings, French onion smear. This all sounds. Look at that thing. I know.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Yeah, oh, look at that. Wow. I don't even like ketchup on my burger. There you go. 1395 for the little cricket burger and fries. That doesn't look little to me. You know what? I'm seeing a pickle as a reference.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Yeah, yeah. That feels like still more burger than I should eat for lunch. I agree. We got pickle for scale. This looks like a fantastic deal. this right now. And who applies ketchup on the side of a burger and not yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:15 That's really great. Yeah. Oh, man. Shitty A.A. Art, whatever. Everyone does. Yeah, that's, that looks awesome. I'm meeting. Listener, Stormy sooner is in town for I think a convention. They said they're staying by the convention center,
Starting point is 00:18:31 so I'm meeting them for lunch on Saturday. Nice. And we're going to Snarfs. Oh, you're one of your favorites. I talked to going to Snarfs and they're like, yeah, no, you've been talking about that place. We, you know, we got to check it out. So, all right. I wish Snarfs had TVs playing 24-hour Thundercats.
Starting point is 00:18:50 That'd be cool. It would be ideal, right? Yeah. It would be right thing to do. It would be the right thing to do. Guys, it's time for the news. Oh, they're in the chat room. Oh, they're here today.
Starting point is 00:19:00 Nice. Yeah. You guys, that'll be great. I'm going out with a hottie next. Oh, I'm sorry. You're going out with a hottie. Oh, Rudy. He's a hottie.
Starting point is 00:19:08 He's a bit of a hotty. He's a book haughty is what he is. Yeah, a body, we call him. A body. Yeah, he's a warm body. Sometimes it's all you need. Time for the news. Let's inform ourselves about what's going on in the world.
Starting point is 00:19:23 With stuff I've been holding for days. Here it is. It's the news, and it's brought to you by. Brought to you by Daily Music Headlines. Today in the News, you can find out about Phoenix Flexen, a rap artist who's got a brand new song called Rubbers, which is just hit number 58 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. But everyone is calling foul saying that they think it's AI generated.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Oh, shit. So there's some discussion going on there. The new season, the ninth installment of VHS mixtape, which is the Shudder Horror Anthology, is going to have a focus on music. So it's going to have, contributions from Rizza, Flying Lotus, Tobias Forge from Ghost and Gwar. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:20:14 The appearances in the horror-themed music, horror season. I really like the VH. They're found footage. The genre is what they are. And some of them aren't as good, but there are some of that in that series that are freaking fantastic. So that is exciting to me to hear that. That's great.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Yeah. So there you go. That'll be on Shut around October 9th. If you want to hear the rest of the news, well, you just be. Go to daily musicheadlines.com and sign up. Subscribe right there. You can add it as an echo device. What do they call that?
Starting point is 00:20:46 A briefing. Add it to your news brief. Oh, yeah. And get all that. That's still a thing, I guess. Exactly. Obviously, if you're, you know, if you guys are doing it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:56 And also hear about, I won't tell you any more than this. I'll tease it. Hear about a country artist who's calling out other country artists saying that you guys are all phoning in your music. There's a lot of hubbub around country artists. They're going to have a truck off or something. Yeah, right. There's a lot of talk about country artists all banding together to stop AI and AI data centers in rural areas and towns.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Really? Oh, good. It's good news. Good sign. That is good news. Yeah. Let's do it. All you country bumpkins. Yeah, that right. Guys, we got a couple of stories We'll try to get to here before Amy joins us How about this one?
Starting point is 00:21:41 5 AM milk theft shocks a mother A mum as they say Because this is over there in the UK Yep As semi-naked woman makes cheeky getaway I get it It's cheeky Yeah, because her bum was out
Starting point is 00:21:55 See Yep Not her fanny That we would have that wrong over there No no no no We call it a fanny here The butt Their fanny is a whole different thing
Starting point is 00:22:05 Not too far. Yeah. Turns out. Yeah, not far at all. Geographically close. It taint all that far away. Terrible.
Starting point is 00:22:15 A mother was left utterly shocked. I hate this article already. Utterly shocked. You know, why not if you just go all the way and say a half-naked woman snatched milk from somebody's doorstep? Yeah, you may as well just go all the way. Go all the way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:35 in just black underwear and flip-flops, brazenly swiped her milk models from the doorstep. The bear wood woman resident said her, I'm the barewood woman resident. I don't know where you're putting women. I don't know why I put that in there. It does not say woman. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:52 For the record, I inserted it, and I don't know why. She said her morning got off to a sour start again, again. When she opened her door to find her delivery gone and was even more astonished when she checked her doorbell footage. In the clip, a woman can be seen strutting up to the drive at 5 a.m. wearing only knickers, a crop top, and flip-flops after grabbing two bottles.
Starting point is 00:23:13 She gets more and more closed the further way to get into the article. It starts off a semi-naked woman. Then it's like, well, she's wearing underwear. Oh, now she's wearing a crop top. Yeah, by the time we're done with this, she'll be in like an Elizabethan-era, freaking full-body dress. Up to her chin, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:27 It says, let's see, before grabbing two bottles and making a cheeky dash. There's that again. Yeah. Going back to that well. Anyway, this is all according to the Birmingham live or the Birmingham live. Let's see. Not one to keep quiet. The baffled householder. Householder? All right. Posted the images on Facebook where she, others reported their milk had also gone missing recently. Let's see if we got a photo here. Yeah, she's not half naked.
Starting point is 00:23:52 We also have a whole video. This is, I mean, if that's half naked, I don't, I don't know the definition of half naked. Also, what was play for me. Come on. Give it a second. It takes up a second. It takes a second. going to load. It did show up before, for a hot, it blipped and I saw the lady running and then it went to this load. I don't know if I'd use it for a hot second, but I, I don't if I'd use that phrase. No, that's not it. Oh, yeah, I don't know why it's not coming up. I don't know either. Eh, dang it. I might have some blocker that doesn't like the mirror. Oh, there she is. Oh, there she is. That's not video, but here she is running. That is not half naked. That is not half naked. Run in. Run in. Run in. I mean, is only wearing your underwear top and bottom? Is that a, that's, is that's half naked by
Starting point is 00:24:33 definition? It could be half naked. I'm going to say that's 52% naked because she's wearing flip-flops. You got extra percentage coverage. It's a weird thing to do this. I know. And it looks like you can just, like the video looks like she's walking
Starting point is 00:24:49 right across the street to her house to enjoy her new milk. Yeah. Her recently ill-gotten milk. I guess, you know, you'd say half-dressed, right? Yeah, I would say that. Yeah. So you can't go outside half-dressed like that, I would say to her. Exactly. So if she's half
Starting point is 00:25:05 dressed, that means she's also half naked. But she says, I need the milk. I'm going anyways. We just want the milk. Give me your milk. I don't know how anybody steals anything these days on porches with all these doorbell ring things. Door cams. I don't get it. Like, you
Starting point is 00:25:21 have to assume. You can actually see it. And some of them hide it pretty well, but most of them are there. Gator masks and stuff. Yeah. Yeah, oh, that's true that we're like a some sort of disguisey thing. Gator masks or whatever. They go full.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Not Gator mask, but Gators. What was the President Masks movie? Oh, point break. Point break it. Yeah. Nixon and Reagan. Do one of these while you, you know,
Starting point is 00:25:50 before you take the Amazon package. I am a crook. Yeah. And then hose down something with gas. Didn't someone do that in that movie? They took a gas pump wearing the Nixon mask and like hose down a car and then set it on fire. something. Did they?
Starting point is 00:26:05 Was it during the chase? Was it while Swayze was chasing or while Keanu Reeves was chasing I cannot remember. You know who's going to know this and he'll probably pipe in any second as TV's Travis. He'll know that. Yeah, he definitely knows. Yeah. If he doesn't, I'd be very disappointed. You'd tell you beat for beat what happens and
Starting point is 00:26:23 my disappointment would be great if he didn't know. Yeah, oh yeah, no. We can't have that. Watch him come in and say, actually I've never seen it. What? What? Wait, you haven't seen? What? All right, guys. That's the only story you're going to do.
Starting point is 00:26:41 The rest of the news will have to wait because now we have a whole other thing we got to do. And that thing starts with a little clip to open it. One of the things that I enjoy also is reading. Well, well, well, what do we have here? Get your literary hats on. It's time to talk to Amy about books and reading. Amy, welcome to the show. You don't hear us.
Starting point is 00:27:08 We hear you. But that may not be enough. We, I'll tell her in the thing. We hear you. I don't want you to have my microphone. Yes, switch microphones. Don't switch microphones. There we go.
Starting point is 00:27:24 I know. That's what I tried to do. So, like, I mean, usually I pick up the video call and it's fine. That's weird. It looks like Discord tried to steal your mic or something. Yeah, that's exactly what happened. Weird. And now it says, what's it say now?
Starting point is 00:27:39 Nothing. Oh, yeah. I hung up the call and that's how I fixed it. I don't know. Well, let's try this and see if it matters. I'm going to try it one more time. If it kills your mic, we'll just not do video today. Let's try it out.
Starting point is 00:27:51 Okay. Here we go. Here it is. Answer that. And let's see what happens. Okay. Do you, did it kill it? Really?
Starting point is 00:28:02 Like, it's overriding. That's lame. Is there a way I can just tell it? Don't do the microphone on the discord. Probably. I don't know why I'm talking weird like that. I like that we're working through it together, you know? It's all poopie.
Starting point is 00:28:19 Yeah. It's like where she can't hear us though right now. Poopie. I could say things like Chuck's got a micro penis or. Gosh, dang it. Maybe she did hear that based on that response. No, maybe. The dog heard it, I think.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Yeah. Oh, well. Oh, well. Hey. It's all right. I don't know what Discord did, but they broke it because it worked last time. You don't have to see our ugly faces, and that's all the matters. No, exactly.
Starting point is 00:28:44 It is Amy, though. She is here to teach us how to read this. It is me. It is me. I don't know. Maybe that's what I need is I need to learn to read. Again, re-learn. Re-learned to read.
Starting point is 00:28:56 You need a teacher. Yeah, I think it's a problem. I've been having this problem lately where I've got like a design. I like reading every night. Usually I like to read at night. before bed. It's just my tradition. It's my thing or whatever. But lately, I cannot stop my brain from, like, racing all over the place. And so I get lost and I have to go back. And it's like audio or just reading. It doesn't matter. So I don't know what that's about. I need to meditate before I read or something. But maybe this will inspire me. So Amy, welcome to the show and let's talk about your book. Thank you. I have a similar issue, though. Like if I, especially if I, if I fall asleep reading or, you know, or listening to an audio book or whatever, I am very. I have to go back, like, you know, several chapters, depending on the length of the chapters, you know. Sure.
Starting point is 00:29:44 Be like, what the heck happened? There's certain. Sometimes I have re-read or re-listened to a section of a book, like, five or six times. And I'm like, oh, my brain is like, seriously? You're going to make me read this again? I'm like, yeah, I don't know. What part of this did you not get? Right.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Yeah, so Scott Yes, man I have a bone to pick You have got I am now I can't stop like pressure washing most Isley
Starting point is 00:30:14 It's like It's a dick thing It's so compelling I can't I don't know why It's like such It's just so satisfying When you hear that little thing
Starting point is 00:30:24 You know that you You finished cleaning the thing And you see all the dirt wash away I don't know what it is It's so good It's like the only can compare it to, and this is just a word to the wise,
Starting point is 00:30:37 anyone out there trying to make a chore core game, and that is like a game that's like a job, but you somehow make it that you want to play it. You have to always think about the gamification of it. Because if this is real power washing, you would have water everywhere all the time, be a huge mess. You'd have to switch your nozzles manually. You'd have to have a compressor and a hose to a water source.
Starting point is 00:31:00 You'd have to have all these things in play to do anything. And this game knows that the satisfying part is pressure washing grime and dirt and rust off of things. It feels good. That's satisfying. But none of that other stuff is fun. So take all that away. Make it just gamified as hell.
Starting point is 00:31:19 And there's your game. And those guys nailed it. It seems to also not matter if I have the soap thing on or not. So the way the soap thing, it depends. If you've advanced, well, this is some good inside baseball on that game. Yeah. If you've advanced through the game and done all your upgrades, and the first game was different in this way.
Starting point is 00:31:37 So I'll just say this for the second game. And I actually think it's a big improvement on the second game. But in two, when you advance all your nozzles and you unlock all the additional pieces and parts and stuff, you get pretty powerful nozzles and guns so that most of the dirt and grime is not so strong that you can't just do it in one sweep. Right. But there are going to be some, especially with metal structures, where there's like a rust and corrosion element to it. And the way to very quickly get rid of that or anything that just seems like it's a little slower to get rid of, if you're just moving slower to get rid of it. Because you move too fast, you're not going to get it at all, is to hose that all down with your soap first.
Starting point is 00:32:20 And then any nozzle will work. You just spray it again and it's gone. Yeah. Oh, that's cool. So use that on your rusty bits. I skipped right ahead to the Star Wars thing. I haven't played any of the regular game at all. I literally just like, I was like, oh, pressure washing Star Wars to say.
Starting point is 00:32:38 Which is exactly what I would do. Yeah. I just went directly to, I think it's like you start at Uncle Owen's farm. And then, you know, and I went from there to Moisaisley. And so I'm in Moisaisley now. Uncle Owen is a disgusting pig. Can we agree on that? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:53 That whole place is really gross. It's amazing, like how different it is. is like how bright white it is compared to when you come in there. It's really gross. Oh, it's so bad. And it's like, it's bad before the place even gets burned and they get killed. Like, this is prior to all that.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Right. Yeah, what are you people doing? You know, Luke, Luke is in the little chat thing or whatever whining about things. Power converters. Yeah. So,
Starting point is 00:33:18 and that answers a question in the chat. Somebody Zytab and the chat asked if there's a story. So in the main game, like the non-Star Wars DLC game, there definitely is. and it's kind of running underneath everything. And it kind of goes in weird places. It's very cool.
Starting point is 00:33:32 I would recommend playing through that when you're done with this. Because it's actually really good. But the Star Wars DLC is not quite as in depth that way, partly because it's an IP you can't just run with. You have to do what Star Wars tells you to do. But it does have that underlying,
Starting point is 00:33:48 like you're being told kind of a story with those texts. You're also cleaning stuff that's like, like when you clean the ad ad, that you are cleaning it right after the Battle of Hoth. And so there's like a sense, you're not there yet, probably. No. Because you still got to do the tattooing canteen. You still have to do another one after that.
Starting point is 00:34:09 Or maybe the third one is the ad ad. But anyway, the ad at-at is you see a bunch of like snow speeders crashed into snow and smoking all off in the distance. And you're getting text stuff from the empire that's like kind of filling in the blanks on after the battle. We don't know where Vader is right now, but we think he's this and that, and you just kind of follow along.
Starting point is 00:34:32 So there is kind of like this story-based thing happening, but it's all very theater of the mind in the background thing while you're busy being a droid washing the outside of stuff. It's really good. Yeah, it is. It's fun. And like, you know, all the little hidden pieces where you have to go find the right, you know, the ladder
Starting point is 00:34:50 and climb up the ladder and get that one little spot that's on the very top of the thing. And this is like really sad. satisfying when you find all of it. Yep. Very chill. Very, very, park your brain. Just do this menial job. It's awesome.
Starting point is 00:35:02 I love it. I'm so glad you played it. That's great to air. Yeah. Oh, it is. It's great fun. When you're done. My husband and I are playing it takes two, but my, my stupid steam deck keeps lagging when
Starting point is 00:35:12 we play it. I don't know why. I've searched everywhere. But anyway, yeah. Shouldn't do that. That's strange. Yeah. Maybe I'll, I'll, I'll hit somebody up offline and, you know, see if I can help you
Starting point is 00:35:24 troubleshoot this. an irritating thing I have with my steam deck just lagging because it's like impossible to play a platformer. Yeah. Especially when one that demands so much of you like that one does. And then if you guys ever get to split fiction you'll love that for the literary parts
Starting point is 00:35:39 of it because split fiction is basically these two authors get stuck in the worlds they've written but they keep crossing over. It's so good. I should be playing this. That was like feels like it's right up here. It's like Amy written
Starting point is 00:35:55 all over. Yeah, it was like a hair away from Game of the Year for me. In fact, I may have, actually, I think I may have picked it for Game of the Year. Me and Carter played it. Loved every freaking second of that thing. It's so good. Anyway, sorry, books. All right. Let's talk about books. So, yeah, so for this book is, uh, yeah, so, um, this book is, uh, I'll just say this, this is an interesting read. This is the first time that I have encountered a book. I won't say I hate Reddit, because I didn't, I didn't hate, I didn't hate reading the story, but I hate the protagonist so much. So like, it is not only an unreliable narrator, but an unlikable narrator.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Oh, goodness. And it's, it's kind of a weird, and, you know, anyway, so we play the clip and then I'll, I'll go into the details on it afterward. All right, here we go. 558 and bing, eyes wide open, ready to greet the day. I've never had a hard time waking up in the morning, never used the snooze button either, not once in my life. I was born with spades of discipline. I'm practically overflowing with it, which is why I think I've never had that much trouble with anything in my life. Not motherhood, nor marriage, nor building a business, nor serving him. I know it's not that easy for other people, but it really is for me. That's why all those strangers liked me so much.
Starting point is 00:37:19 I could just hear the distant chicken coop chatter, that meditative, bock, bock, bock, bock, that served as the white noise machine of our farm. I loved our chickens. They were as domesticated as dogs, as harmless as toddlers. Through the open crack of my bedroom door, there was a spilling of little boy laughter. The children were down the hall, having breakfast. Nanny Louise, a godsend for our family, was at the stove making pancakes. producer Shannon, my right arm, was by the kitchen sink, getting the video equipment prepared for a long day of work. Stetson and Samuel, my darling young men, were sitting at the table, shoving and pulling one another in equally groggy measure. Clementine, my eldest, the girl
Starting point is 00:38:09 who made me a mother, was at the head of the table, ignoring her brothers, reading a book. Nanny Amy, our second in command, was moving through the far corners of the house. Interesting. Tell me more. What is this? I like that voice, by the way. Is that the author or somebody else doing that? No, that is. So the voice there is Rebecca Loman. That's who's narrating it. But the book is yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke. And it's interesting. It caught my eye because I think I saw an article about it being optioned for a vehicle for Anne Hathaway. And I was like, oh, Anne Hathaway, you say. I okay interesting I love her and you know the the so the the premise is this the woman that you're hearing there Natalie she is a a tradwife influencer so think of like ballerina farm or you know any of these like you know holier than thou I am I'm living homesteading and whatnot but I just happened to have TikTok so I can show off to the entire world how perfect I am. Yeah. The tread wife influencer thing is almost as almost to me, it's just me talking everybody,
Starting point is 00:39:30 is almost as irritating as the freaking in-cell freaking manosphere crap. I hate it. 100%. 100%. Well, and I very judiciously, you can, I mean, I'm sure you can, I didn't, I didn't have the patience this morning when I was cutting up this clip to really make it flow properly. So you can hear in there where I, excuse me, made some drastic cuts. But that was just for brevity's sake, because I wanted you to hear, like, the contradictions in what she's saying.
Starting point is 00:40:02 And, like, she starts off obnoxious, right? Two minutes before my alarm and I'm up and ready for the day. And I never have problems waking up. I've never hit the snooze button my entire life. You know, and if my camera had been working during the, you could see me, like, making faces at the, that whole thing. But then it quickly moves to like, oh, I can hear our chickens. I love our chickens. Oh, I'll just, and she goes into a whole thing about how she'll just sit and just pet them and just love, love, love the chickens.
Starting point is 00:40:34 And then she switches to talking about her children and has none of that affection for her children, right? especially her daughter. She's at, like, so you heard there, like, oh, Stetson and Samuel, my beloved darling man-children, whatever, and then, and then Clementine, the girl who made me a mother. Oh, wow. Like, how dare she, you know? And so, you know, and then she talks about, like, she's got, if you start thinking about it, like, so this is a woman who supposedly is living, like, a quote-unquote traditional life, right?
Starting point is 00:41:12 But she's got two freaking nannies and a producer. And then you find out later that like, yeah, okay, they live on a farm. But they've got a crap ton of like hired farm hands, most of whom are not documented. You know, and like, you know, meanwhile there, you know, her father-in-law is a Republican senator or whatever. And, you know, so it's just just dripping with hypocrisy. but it's like, you know, and you could just hear, like, at one point she goes to the grocery store, right? And she runs into a woman she knows. And she's just instantly filled with all of this hostility. This woman has done nothing to her, but she's just hostile, right? But of course,
Starting point is 00:42:01 outwardly, she smiles and she's, oh, yes, I'm perfect. La, la, la. I know you're totally jealous of my perfect life. Perfect family, perfect kid, perfect husband, yeah. all that. Yep. And then so, so she goes to bed that night and then wakes up the next morning in 1855. Oh my lord. Okay. So, so it's like, oh, oh, you want to live like the olden days here. Let's see you do it. Yeah. Right. But you're actually doing it. Let's see you actually do it. Exactly. And, you know, and she, because it's a, it's a first person, she has no clue, thus we have no clue. How did how what kind of weird, you know, magic or whatever. Black near, uh, yeah, exactly. Like, why are we here? What, what's going on? And she's looking around, she's like,
Starting point is 00:42:51 okay, this is my house, but it's not my house, right? It's like, there's nothing modern in it, but it's the same how, like structurally. It's the same house. But everything's dirty. And every, you know, everything is like, you know, bland colors. The word might be, the word might be traditional she's looking for. Yeah, exactly, exactly. So it's kind of interesting and it flip flops between like, you know, giving some, some background on how she became who she, who she is and like her, you know, her influencer life and whatnot. And then like to the present day where she's, you know, living in the 1800s and, you know, all of that. And her, her kids are not her kids either right she's like and they're calling her mama but she doesn't
Starting point is 00:43:42 recognize them and she's like okay so she kind of plays along a little bit and one of the kids just hates her you can tell just absolutely cannot stand her and the other one thinks that she's like just adores her and and acts like her little shadow and stuff and it's it's really interesting to watch her become humbled by it, but also still feel like she's better than everyone in the room. And like I say, you get, you get these tiny little nuggets of, oh, wow, like, you know, am I going to feel sorry for her at this moment? And then she instantly says something like, nope, not so much. you know she puts you right back into reality of like okay you know horrible woman exactly exactly she's kind of like you know uh merrill streep in the devil wears prada right like you love
Starting point is 00:44:39 to watch her but she's a horrible person right um so it's not as simple as i know you don't want to give anything away but when she's at the end of this does she learn her you know you know what mean like does she come out the other side going i was had it wrong the whole time or the traditional wife thing is bullshit like i'm i'm guessing would that be interesting i'm guessing it's more complicated than that i mean it is like it is you know almost like that will you be angry when you finish this book or will you feel satisfied there you can't say because you don't want to give anything sure yeah sure yeah i will tell you that i i i this is a debut novel for this author.
Starting point is 00:45:24 And it was actually, I think somehow or other, she's either friends with or got introduced to Anne Hathaway or whatever. Like the story got optioned before she even finished writing it. So the ending feels a little, like I would imagine that in later works that this author does, there will be a little bit more polish, a little bit more rounding out of things in the end than this one had. This one was very, it felt very abrupt, I will say, and not as much fleshing out of explanation of why she was suddenly in 1855 as I wanted. You do get an explanation, but it's very sort of like, you. you know, just kind of glossed over.
Starting point is 00:46:24 And, you know, I wasn't unsatisfied with the ending. But I did, it did leave me a little bit wanting for a little bit more closure on some of the characters and some of the arcs that I saw. So I'll say that. Well, it is available on the Pumpkin Cottage, of course. We'll give the link in QuicktmS.org. but the reviews on here are stellar like 4.9 out of five, 21,000 reviews. It seems like people really like this book. I mean, it was featured on Good Morning America.
Starting point is 00:47:02 So like, you know, a lot of people flocked to it and just read it. And of course, like, oh my God, I love this. But, you know, just because that's the popular thing to do. Nice. But, you know, I'm not going to, I'm not going to, you know, what's the word I'm looking for? Poo-Poo getting press on a morning TV show because we got, Peepers got just flooded with orders last week because we got featured on the Today Show with Al Roker. What?
Starting point is 00:47:34 It was amazing. I didn't hear about that. Tell me what happened there. I didn't even know about this. Yeah. Oh, I'll find the link for you. Yeah, it was great. So, you know, the Jim Henson Studios have up in New York where they,
Starting point is 00:47:49 You know, they've been operating for ever and ever. For the first time, they have started doing tours for the public. And so they contacted us. This is probably about maybe about six or seven months ago asking for, you know, could they order bulk orders of peepers? And we were like, yes. When the Hanson people contact you, you say yes. Exactly. And so we were like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:18 And so we started selling them, you know, one and two thousand peepers at a time. Come to find out that at the end of each of the tours, they give out a pair of peepers to, you know, the person taking the tour. That's just like part of the tour. And so Al Roker took the tour. And at the end, he and Cheryl Henson are there playing with peepers. And then he comes to back to the set of the Today Show with peepers for all the hosts. And all the hosts are there playing with peepers. stuff. It was fantastic. I was so excited. So that's so cool, dude. I had no idea. Right. I was so excited.
Starting point is 00:48:56 Yeah, there. There's a paper. There's a peepers. There's a peepers. Love the peepers. It was so bizarre, though, because I was in Florida with long story there, but I was in Florida with my mom at, like, at a hotel. And all of a sudden, my phone is just blowing up. because, you know, we use Shopify. And, you know, so the Shopify app is just going ping, ping, ping, peeping. And I was like, what the hell? I was like, I mean, I'm not complaining, but what happened? Like, why is everybody buying peepers? Because like, is it suddenly, you know, November and I missed it?
Starting point is 00:49:29 Like, what's, what's up? That's great, though. Yeah. What a cool surprise? What's the deal with papers? Yeah, exactly. It was so, it was so cool. If you guys came to Nertacular or got swag bags, you all got a set, or you got a lot.
Starting point is 00:49:41 at least a peeper in there, if not two. Can't remember what we did, but Amy very kindly donated those there as well. So get out your paper. The pair I had on, just I hit the cat with him accidentally. He slipped down to my fingers and ricocheted off the cat's perch. Oh, I'm sorry, Anara. Another thing for that cat to not like. Right.
Starting point is 00:50:04 Oh, look, she's fine. She's good. She's okay. Yeah, she's all right. She's such a big ball of, I love it. you pick her up. And so she's such a big ball of floof. She really is. I mean, it's like, you know, always has one foot curled and then the other foot straight out. Yeah. It's one of those cats I'd love to see all soaking wet. Just see how
Starting point is 00:50:23 differently looked. Just see how small she is. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I'm sure. Because like my mom's cat is like that. And when you pet her, you're like, where does your actual self begin? Like your hand is just sinking forever and fur until you, before you get to where. Before you get to body, cat body. Exactly. Love it. Exactly. Well, there you go then. So go. One other thing I wanted to mention.
Starting point is 00:50:46 Oh, so sorry. No, you're good. Yeah, I got asked by Extra Lettis and our friend Audie Norman have a podcast called The Studio Window, where they talk to other creatives, other artists and such. And so that, my episode of that should be, I believe it got posted either yesterday or today. So, you know, latest episode of the studio window featuring me should be out. That sounds awesome. As we speak. Yeah, that's really cool.
Starting point is 00:51:21 What did you get into? I mean, you obviously do a lot of things, but what was the focus of your work? Oh, my God, there was no focus. It was just me and my ADHD, yo. It was like, I ended up apologizing profusely because, like, we finally had to get off the, you know, the call. like, I don't know, it was like something like 11 o'clock and all of us were tired. But we were just like just chatting it up. So I will probably be on future episodes where we'll actually conduct the proper interview.
Starting point is 00:51:52 But because we were just just blah blah blahing too much. But it was great. It was good stuff. You know, we talked about, you know, the things that inspire us. You know, why I think it started with why do you art. And I was like, because I don't know how not to. you know that's that's really it like I I can't if I if I go more than a few days without doing something creative I it's it's obvious to everyone in my life because I I'm grumpy and I'm
Starting point is 00:52:24 ordinary and I'm just not right yeah we have a house full of people like that here so yeah I don't make myself do like just take a break from doing stuff doing work stuff and take a break and like do something fun and creative. And I've got all these 3D print creative projects that's like, yep, I need to finish that iPod display. You need to finish the thing with the little meters on it, like Star Lord's tape deck for the to cover the hole that the guy's put in my wall. There's so many things like that I need to do.
Starting point is 00:52:56 And I just need to force myself to do that. I forgot about your hole. Whether you got that filled or not. Can we still see it? Yeah, we can. Still there. I don't know if you can see it in the... And like Bill being on last week talking about we've only got a month till DragonCon.
Starting point is 00:53:10 I was like, stop saying such mean thing. Jeez. I have nowhere near ready for DragonCon. Has anyone ever truly ready? I mean, you know. No. You know what you're going to see. You keep wanting to modify.
Starting point is 00:53:22 You keep wanting to add things to your costumes and stuff like that. You need to tell us if it's, if my prediction comes true that there's going to be a million Agamemnon dudes there. It's just going to be those. I think. Yeah. I think there's going to be more heart. boxers. I will say because the dungeon crawler
Starting point is 00:53:40 Carl is having said, I know I'm biased but man, it's having such a moment right now. Like everybody is in on dungeon crawler Carl. So I think there probably will be several Agamemnon's, but I think there's going to be like a legion, just a
Starting point is 00:53:55 veritable ocean of white heart boxers. Make sure to get pictures at the parade when it's the old dungeon crawler Carl brigade going by. Yeah, for sure. I think there's going to be a lot of Trojan horses filled with urine and feces. Wonderful.
Starting point is 00:54:12 Wonderful. Just walking by, sloshing by. As Homer intended it, man. I'll tell you. That's right. Yep. That's the thing about, like, whenever I go to Salt Lake City, I'm so amazed at how clean that place is because I have been to downtown Atlanta. It does not, even without DragonCon, just on a normal day.
Starting point is 00:54:33 It does not, it's not that clean. It does not smell like Salt Lake City smells. I don't know. Everything smells clean. We have that reputation here. I don't know how it actually happens. I don't know that it's any special city ordinances or anything. It's just for whatever reason, just a clean city.
Starting point is 00:54:48 And you can lick off the floor or eat off the floor if you want. Part of it, I think, is just like we have like really low smoking rates. And I think so you don't have a lot of like butts and stuff like that. Although like in Vegas, the grossest thing is like layers of gum everywhere, you know? Like everywhere you walk in Vegas, gum, baked it by the hot desert sun. Vegas has a lot of, has like a thin layer of smoke on a lot of things. But, yeah. That's true.
Starting point is 00:55:15 Like I said, I just had to drive my mom to Florida and she smokes. And so I had to drive her car. And which I was happy to do because her car is newer than mine and all that. But she had different motivations. She wanted to drive her car because she can smoke in her car. And so I immediately came home and just my whole duffel bag, everything. I just, I stripped all my clothes off and like put them directly in the washing machine. Do not pass go.
Starting point is 00:55:40 Like everything I took with me, whether I wore it or not, it's all getting washed. I like those people that are trying to live on both sides of the highway. They'll be, they want to smoke while they drive, but they don't want to get their car all smoky. So they're constantly putting their face out that crack, blowing it. Oh my God. I wish, I wish my mom had done that. So like, shit, my mom's going to listen to this later. feelings. But like she, I will say she did this one thing. And mom, I'm sorry, but you did do this thing.
Starting point is 00:56:10 So she would finish her cigarette, right? And so she would, she would throw the butt out the window. Sorry, everybody. She's 83. I'm not going to get her change. But so she throw the butt out the window, right? And then she would roll the window up and then she would exhale. And I'm like, mom, you just. Yeah. What's the point of that? Like, that is the wrong. That's the wrong order of operations on breathe out that last bit of smoke first and then close the window. Okay. Yeah. Please.
Starting point is 00:56:40 But I just like, I don't know. It was so, the whole thing was so rough. It's long story, but I just, I didn't have the heart to like fuss at her about it. So I just took it. But anyway. So, yeah, sorry, mom when you hear this later. I, yeah. Oh, does your mom listen?
Starting point is 00:56:57 I also got to ask, is Chuck mowing the lawn right now? Yeah, what is that? No, but our, our yard guy is. Oh, sorry. I'm right by the window. It's so faint. It's just like I picked up like Wendy's chimes or her birds or whatever. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:10 I can look out the window and see him. So yeah, I'm right. I'm right by there. I hope he's doing a fine job and sweating profusely. Amy, always a pleasure. We'll do this again in a couple of weeks, a few weeks. And between now and then, may all your books be good. Bye.
Starting point is 00:57:30 I couldn't think of a better way to end that. May it all be the good books. Yeah, I don't want her. don't read any bad books. No. And don't read just the good book. And don't hate read any books. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:57:40 Don't be doing that. Got a very couple of short texts that we read today. Cool. This is about the jugs of pain. This is from Pendigrass. He says, Pendi grass. Do you guys like the hike?
Starting point is 00:57:50 Or do you guys like hikes? You should hike more, says Pendi grass. I do, but I don't do it as often as I used to do it. We are going to do some pretty massive hiking when we go to Moab later in the month. So there's that. Tina, Tina goes every Saturday morning with a cancer group. And there have been, well, okay, there was one time I went with them.
Starting point is 00:58:11 I was going to say, there have been times I've gone with them. There have been time I've gone with them. Here's the thing. I've got a lot of great places to hike and bike right around me. I don't want to do it in 98 degree weather. Thank you very much. So as soon as it starts cooling off again, fall, absolutely. But for right now, the only hiking I'm doing is going up and down the stairs.
Starting point is 00:58:32 as I work. And I've, lately me too. So I would like to really up my hiking game, to be honest. Yeah. Because I do like a good hike. I do too. There's some beautiful. We got a table mountain just a stone's throw from our house.
Starting point is 00:58:47 And it's cool. There's wildlife up there. There are rattlesnakes up there. Yeah. All that stuff. So it's like, yeah, want to do it. Mountain lions coming after you. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:58:57 Not while it's hot, though, thanks. No, too hot. Today it'd be good. But the smoke. You know? That's the problem is the smoke. Yeah. I would say,
Starting point is 00:59:05 I would agree with you today would be good if it weren't for the smoke. Yeah, it's so thick right now. Thanks a lot, Washington. Let's move on to this one. High bass and soft pedal, says Charles in Virginia.
Starting point is 00:59:15 I don't know why I'm being called soft pedal. I don't know, but I think bass in this case. Oh, bass. Yeah. Well, I mean,
Starting point is 00:59:21 you know, could have been a fish. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But in this case, I think it's music related. Probably bass,
Starting point is 00:59:25 yeah. And then soft pedal is probably a drummer thing, right? Either that or one of those pedals, effects pedals that you use when you're playing guitar? I don't know. I'm totally guessing. It's funny because the message has zero to do with music.
Starting point is 00:59:38 So who knows what he was thinking? He could be a fisherman and it really is bass and there's a soft pedal trout or something like that. Oh, there you go. We're going to fish versus soft pedal this weekend. Exactly. Says wondering if you feel like there are like six actors in Hollywood and they are all in everything now. Thanks and love the show. Charles.
Starting point is 00:59:57 Yeah, dude. That's funny. I talked about this yesterday. Didn't I were saying like, great. We love Zendaya. We love Florence Pugh. We love Tom Holland. We love, but can we get other actors involved in Hollywood?
Starting point is 01:00:09 Patinson, freaking. Exactly. They're all in every. And this year in particular feels that way because you got all this MCU stuff and there's a lot of crossover there. But you also have Dune coming out. You have all these things where they're all in it. I think it's kind of hard to avoid at least that feeling. The A list is maybe, it's always been a little small though, right?
Starting point is 01:00:28 Yeah. It seems like you always got like a Tom Hanks movie. every year or a Tom Cruise movie every year or a Charlize Throne movie every year. It seems like, you know, by the way, soft pedal is piano pedal. A couple of people. Oh, so I think he is being musicy there. He is being musicy. Yep. Oh, the soft pedal, like the little, I know what that is. The three pedals at the bottom that, yeah, make your, your, give sustain to your notes. That's right. Or to mute them kind of, right? I don't remember my teacher taught me.
Starting point is 01:00:57 That's so long ago. Yeah. I just remember she had a weird eye. No, I remember, like, you push one of those pedals down, you hit a key, and it doesn't matter how long you release, after you release that key, that note stays like, she had an eye where one eye looked at the screen, or the screen, the note music, music notes. And the other eye, other eye drifted and kind of looked at me, but kind of threw me. Oh, weird. It was weird. I didn't like my piano lessons because she freaked me the F out as a kid.
Starting point is 01:01:26 And she would sit next to me and go, now I want you to do, be, be, but, but I just go, your one eye is looking at me while you're looking at the thing. And I'm sure it was some condition where her eyes, you know, people have stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no. But I'm like seven or eight. My opi, no, not my opi. There's whoever the term is for that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:44 And it wasn't just like a lazy eye. It was like a lizard eye. Like a wandering, like a wandering eye. Yeah. Like how a gecko can do that kind of. Sure. Sure. Oh gosh.
Starting point is 01:01:53 Okay. It wasn't like out on a swivel or anything. But it freaked out. Matt eye, visualizing mad eye moody for some reason. Oh, we're doing like this where it moves around. Not quite that bad. Not that bad, but it was bad enough as an eight-year-old to kind of just give me the willies, and I could never really focus on what I was trying to learn, so I was not much of a piano player growing up.
Starting point is 01:02:14 Anyway. I don't know what my mom paid for those, but it wasn't enough. Anyway, that's your messages for today. If you'd like to text us to your own stuff, go to frogpans.com slash TMS. All the information is there. We need to play a song now to get out of here. What do you got? I've got a song going to Mark from Melancho.
Starting point is 01:02:29 It says, hello Sauvignon en Blanc to celebrate my 71st birthday. I picked Eleanor Rigby because, besides the fact that it's a banger, Zoot has Rick Springfield on lead guitar, who I'm not sure Scott would know is Australian. I didn't know that now. Be Birtles on bass, who later was a founding member of Little River Band. Wow, cool. Didn't know that. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 01:02:53 It's easy to forget Rick Springfield is Australian because you only hear him singing. You never hear him talking about, you know, I wish I, I wish I had Jesse's girl. Yeah. Have you seen that dude lately? Because my gosh, he's in his 70s. Yeah. Look at this picture. This is recent.
Starting point is 01:03:10 Let's see. Let's see Rick Springfield. Unbelievable. I hear him all the time on serious. He does a show on the 80s. That's him now. That's him now. Here he is shirtless.
Starting point is 01:03:20 Okay, wait. Where is he shirtless? I saw him in concert. There it is. Or I didn't see him in concert. I saw him from concert video. Look at that. Oh, there we go.
Starting point is 01:03:28 right now. That's current Rick Springfield. That's Rick Springfield. Living his best life now. I think he's had a little facial work done. But what's the regimen here? My, my Lord. All right. Good for him. Yeah. Well done. They build him different down there. Yeah, probably. Didn't he have some
Starting point is 01:03:44 like some woman came forward and said that he was abusive to her? Oh, I don't know. A few years back. For whatever reason, I'm connecting with some sort of like abuse scandal kind of thing. Maybe I'm wrong and I hope I'm not, you know, slandering.
Starting point is 01:03:59 Was it Jesse's girl that made them a... Well, yeah, maybe it was. Yes. He's a working class dog, that guy. But he's just like, this isn't natural for your 70s. No, it really isn't. My gosh. And I guess if I looked like that, I'd play my guitar shirtless in concert as well.
Starting point is 01:04:17 I would, too. It would keep you from being so hot as well. So there you have it. It's out of Dan in Australia. And it's better than this. This is when he was young and he looks like a dope. Yeah. Look at that Joan Jack.
Starting point is 01:04:28 hair right there yeah I don't like it anyway can't even afford pants that aren't covered with patches all right let's get to the song as I mentioned it is Zoot the Australian band that gave gave Rick Springfield his start this goes all the way back to 1971 it's a cover of the Beatles Eleanor Rigby oh very nice let's play it now if I could just find the thing here it is we'll see you guys tomorrow for another episode of TMS Thanks for a wedding His feet
