For whom does the bell toll?
Well, it definitely is tolling for somebody.
That's so loud, too.
Sucks when you're tired.
Anyway, support TMS today at patreon.com slash TMS.
Coming up on the morning stream,

Pixelated toxic wiener.
Keeping a grip on the naked Barbie.

My sugar!
With Stephen and more on this episode of The Morning Stream.
Most fish is not government inspected, but all McDonald's fish is U.S. government inspected grade A.
And it's all prime white filet.
No fish cakes, not ground up, not mixed with other fish.
It's a fillet, a fish.
The best-selling fish sandwich in America.
Tell him your nickname, Henry.
They call me Jaws.
I wish I could keep this cake forever.
The Morning Stream.
This is the Morning Stream for September 7, 2026.
I'm Scott Johnson.
and that's Brian.
That's right.
Happy Labor Day.
Yeah.
From the great sisters,
the great Hungarian sisters,
Ava and Jaja Labour.
Labors,
are the Labor sisters.
The Labor sisters.
So celebrate with some green acres today.
Green acres and a little bit of a love boat episode or two.
Just slap a policeman.
Sure.
Remember that?
No,
kind of.
Vagely.
Jaja slapped a policeman.
Pull her over.
Oh, man.
That's a old,
that happened in the 80s or something, right?
It's, I think so.
80s or 90s, yeah.
Late 80s, early 90s, maybe.
It's like the first TMZ story before TMZ.
It feels like it was.
Right, exactly.
It's, yeah, us, you know, we Hungarians have a fiery temper.
Yeah, you do.
Oh, that's right.
They're Hungarian.
They're Hungarian.
I always forget.
They always seem like such a mystery to me, those women.
Like the, they're alien.
Like, they came from another planet or something.
Yeah, they're just odd.
They're odd in every possible way.
And you'd see them in, back then, they'd,
infiltrate everything.
It's like, I'm watching Love Boat tonight.
Great.
Both sisters are on this episode.
Fantasy Island.
All the time.
Rockford Files.
I mean, I swear, any show you've got will feature at some point in the 70s,
Gabora sister.
I think they'd be probably even, one of them even probably appeared on the Incredible Hulk.
Probably.
Sad, walking away Hulk music.
One of them became She Hulk.
And that would have been, that would have been terrible.
Darling, you would not like me when I'm angry.
Oh my gosh, that accent.
Freaked me out as a kid because I didn't know where to place it, didn't know where to put it.
And that was too dumb to ask anyone.
So it just kind of was weird.
To me, they were alien ladies.
Good job.
To me, they were pretty much every single one of my grandparents' friends that came over on weekends for spritzers, wine spritzers.
I was going to say, you probably had that around a lot.
Lots of it.
Yeah.
I mean, it really was.
It was seriously like, constantly.
and who's coming over?
Oh, Aveni Neni and Julebachi.
That sounds like a real name, Julabachi.
Is that real?
It is.
It's real.
What it is, in Hungarian, it's Bachi is man or mister.
So Nani is Mrs.
So Bacci ball is Mr. Ball?
No, Bachi is not Hungarian.
So Bachi is Italian and has a whole different meaning.
Mr. Ball.
Mr. Ball.
I like the name Mr. Ball.
It's fun.
No, so basically
Yulabachi means Mr. Julius.
Oh, Mr. Julius and Mrs.
Ava are coming over this weekend.
You say,
Avanani and Yulabachi.
And they called them
it's Mrs.
They'd call them Mrs.
when they were saying it in English, right?
Well, yeah, but they wouldn't say it.
They would just say Julius and are coming over.
I thought it was another Hungarian tradition
to call everybody misses or mister.
Trying to remember who it was.
it was the father of my first girlfriend, Cindy,
who was another one of the Hungarian friends.
And like they bring her over and then we'd go on the back of their parents,
Volvo and make out.
Make out, sure.
But he was the one who paid me a dollar to sing Bohemian Rhapsody every time he came over.
Like he'd have a crisp $1 bill.
And I'd have to go through the entire song.
Like every, you know, from is this the real life?
the way through to nothing ever matters to me.
The whole damn song and get a crisp one dollar bill.
For a dollar, man, in this economy, even in that economy?
That economy was, it's a pretty big deal.
Wow.
How old were you then?
This would have been nine, ten, eleven.
Perfect day to make a kid do a thing for a buck.
Yeah, trying to think, trying to think about when I started messing around with
City Alpine.
When kids are doing...
People are going to look her up on Facebook.
When people do, when a kid does things for a buck, it's around 9, 10, maybe 11.
By 12, they're like, nah, I'm not doing that for a dollar.
But, yeah, I remember those times very fondly.
That kid, I made, well, I'm not going to talk.
I made a kid breastfeed from a pregnant dog.
We didn't make him, but he did it for 50 cents.
We didn't make him, but he chose to do it.
He could have gotten out.
Yeah, we gave him money.
it, that dog was, I don't know, the dog just acted like it was fine.
So I don't think anybody was hurt in the process, but 50 cents, man, the things that kid would do for 50 cents.
Wow.
Anyway, it's good to see you all.
We are here on a labor day, and I hope you've all done a little labor.
I did, I cleaned up dog poo.
That was my labor today.
Okay.
I did all my labor yesterday.
We'll talk about that in a second, but I overdid my labor.
Was that why we're sitting today?
That's why we're sitting today.
That is why we're sitting today.
Yeah.
I can always tell you, you're so, you are perfectly framed when you sit.
Oh, really?
Well, it's also because I, you know, I also got on the thing and went,
you know, robot camera.
Let's click the button if it's so you go.
Oh, nope.
That's where it's supposed to be when I sit.
Oh, here we go.
And if I have a one called TMS sit.
Is it perfectly framed?
Nope.
No, a little low.
You were a little hunch that day or something.
I guess so, yeah.
My chair was not, uh, my chair was not aligned perfectly or something.
Well, a couple of things. We'll get them out of the way.
I have a bit of news for anyone who might be enjoying the comic that I've been creating lately.
The new comic called New Duck at Newduck.com.
There are now, I don't know what the total is. There's many.
I've been going on average about one every other day or every day almost.
And the current, yeah, I've been really enjoying it, having a blast.
It's really just me wanting to get back into that groove of draw every day, make something dumb every day.
and it already had some really nice, you know, navigation here on the side, and down below you had
options to pick a random comic at will and, you know, all of that.
There's all this info about me at the bottom and, you know, all the fun things you can think of.
However, somebody wrote in and said, it would be cool if when I went to your site, I could just
hit the R or I could hit the R button and randomize the comic.
Oh, like the R key on their keyboard.
Yeah.
So, wow.
So I did it.
I figured out the JavaScript and I did it.
So you just hit R and then boom, look at this.
You just get one.
Different one.
It's very good about not giving you the same one again until you kind of run out.
But there's so many you won't, probably, hopefully.
And so that's cool.
And then on mobile, the button for random still works.
So it's not like you lose that ability on mobile or anything.
But the random feature is definitely something that's kind of fun to work with.
And if you control R to refresh the page, it will not.
give you a random.
It knows that the control or command.
Yeah, it knows not to do that.
I put a little logic in there for that.
Second thing I did is for those who don't like dark backgrounds,
you just hit the little light button at the bottom,
and now you get the light version of the site.
It's so bright.
It's so bright.
I know I can barely handle it,
but it's just right there.
Why isn't that showing up?
Hold on.
There we go.
Right there.
Dark mode.
Hit that.
It says light mode.
Light mode.
Dark mode.
And it will remember without cookies what you chose.
Nice.
Anyway, Newduck.com, new comic going up later today.
Watch for it.
Have fun.
Do you, I'm going to throw an idea out.
Do it.
And I don't want this to be like, oh, this is great.
I'm going to stop creating the comic so I can spend 18 days working on this.
But how cool would it be?
You know, like when I go to my phone, I've got this little widget area on the side.
right where like it shows what I was listening to most recently with music and stuff
if I flip it it goes to maps or or whether it's how I use it too would you have to be would
you have to create a new duck app to have a widget that shows you the most recent cartoon on
your widget if like on your phone yeah or can that be can it get can it retrieve something from
the web it's got to be some web hook right I would think so right how cool would that be so I'm
I'm going to write this down.
Yeah.
Web hook.
Do not spend more than...
Pulling latest comic.
Don't spend more than 15 minutes researching this, but I'd be curious to see if it's...
I'll bet there's a way.
I got to think that that's the whole idea of that thing is...
But there's something new or updated.
It can ping it and get in there, right?
It feels like that is the missing link to, you know, what we used to have as kids, where you get the newspaper.
And the first thing I would do before he did anything is go to the very back and read all the comics.
right?
I don't want, I will, and I do go to a website to see yours, or I get in my email really
as part of a substack thing.
But I love that idea of like, oh, I opened my phone, boom, there's the most recent Scott
comic and I can tap it and read it or even just read it.
I like that idea a lot, actually.
I'm going to pursue this, and it won't take that long to figure it out.
Okay.
It'll either be like easy.
Plus, there's lots of smart people in our community here that might know.
Yeah.
And I'm always aiming for going for the most stash.
simple way.
Sure.
Who needs a bunch of stuff that can go down, you know what I mean?
Right.
So I think there's probably a way.
Real quick here, I got chewed out by some dude online who said he saw this comic about the bees.
And it's just this, for the listeners only, there's a man bee, like a husband bee going,
oh, crap, I lost my stinger, must have fallen off on my way back from work.
And he didn't quite finish the word work because in the next frame he dies in his wife's arms.
Because bees die when they lose their stingers.
Exactly.
Yes.
So guy writes me and goes, it was kind of a well actually, but he didn't say that.
He goes, the only bees with stingers are the females.
And the males don't do any of the work.
I honestly didn't even know that.
That's wild.
I think I knew some of that.
But what bothered me was he's honing in on like this is a huge problem for the concept.
And I'm like, oh, it's not that they have like semi-human faces or they stand.
upright or they're chatting with each other or they're chatting in english or she's hugging him
with two arms while standing on two legs like right right dude you're missing the you're missing
the point but cows also don't stand up and smoke cigarettes when the car goes by okay i mean geez
we're your first comic first time exactly we'll actually actually you know if this was a you know
a strip designed by
Neil DeGrasse Tyson or
some sciencey person, Bill Nye
the science guy. Then you can say,
well, actually, Bill, you're a science
person, you should know this. Yeah.
Yeah. But this is a comic strip. It's a comic strip. It's supposed to be for fun.
It's supposed to make you laugh and think. Maybe feel
a little bad for the bee, you know.
Goodness. Jeez. And being bees, you know,
it suck being a bee. Poor bees.
Right. It would suck.
Oh, there's also now notes below each one, I
can create when I post them. Oh, cool. Like, here's where I came up with the idea for this.
Yeah. Or, you know, what I was thinking of today, or basically that one was just like, I'd hate to be a B.
It was basically all it was. So don't always expect really deep thoughts there, but, you know, they're there.
Anyway, go enjoy it. Newduck.com. Have fun. Brian, we got a quick message I have to read for you.
Speaking of somebody online. Yeah, let's hear it. For Brian from Stephen, not our Stephen,
different Stephen. He says, don't listen to Brian. I guess he's talking to me, but.
But don't listen to Brian.
Cape Fear is amazing.
Look, I haven't even seen it, but I agree with what Brian's premise is, which is that when you spread out a story like this where it's like a stalker story and you make a whole season out of it and you just, that means the family has to be stressed and making bad decisions for 12 episodes or whatever it is, eight.
10 in this case.
Yeah, 10 in this case.
and the bad guy's just like ready aim, ready aim, ready aim,
let's see how creepy he can be, build up, build up, okay, I know where this is headed.
Like that doesn't sound like a good time to me.
Yeah.
So I don't, what you said about it made sense.
I don't think you said it was like, bad, right?
I said, well, I might have, I might not have used the actual word bad,
but I probably said the equivalent of it's bad.
It's unfortunate because it's such a, it's a great story.
And freaking, like I said, Javier Bardem is.
is almost worth the price of admission.
Like you could,
you could justify watching it
just to watch Javier Bardem
chew up the,
the scenery for 10 episodes,
and you'd be so,
you'd feel like,
all right,
I feel like I got something out of this,
but it is.
It really is Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson.
By the way, Patrick Wilson,
he's fine.
He's fine guy.
He's fine, he's great.
I like his, I like his insidious.
Is that the, no,
what's the,
what's the,
what's the Annabelle,
stuff. I can't think of that.
Him and his wife,
based on real people that were really,
they actually full of shit, but it doesn't matter.
The movies are good.
Can I just say,
Patrick Wilson is what you get
when you look in the dictionary under,
man.
I need a man for this role.
Right.
Let's see.
Character just needs to play man.
Oh, Patrick Wilson.
Perfect for that.
Oh, Conjuring films.
Thank you.
Yeah.
But, no, I mean, he's great,
and I loved him in the Watchman.
I love him in other things.
I think he's great, but he is a
looks wise.
He is a handsome, but
nothing unusual about his look
male.
Yeah, I kind of agree.
And he, look, part of why I think
season two of Fargo is so good
is his casting
is what you want for,
you need the plainness of that character
that's like your titular, like, you know,
your Marge character sort of is what kind of his role for that.
Same with the first season with the woman who played the share, well, his daughter.
Yeah, not Coleman.
I can't remember her name.
She's great though.
She is great.
Yeah, she's great in that.
I know you haven't seen any of it yet.
I don't think you've seen any, but the St. Dennis Medical.
Still haven't, though.
One of the very few great current sitcoms on terrestrial TV.
I just need to watch it.
I don't know what my problem is with that.
I'm in the mood for that right now and I haven't seen it.
But yeah, like Patrick Wilson is perfect at being Patrick Ass Wilson.
Boogh, 731, hit the nail on the head.
Patrick Wilson is your default character creator's options.
So you like his basic face hair.
Right.
You go and lug into a game say, uh, male character.
And then it pulls up Patrick Wilson.
And then you go, okay, cool.
Let's add facial hair.
Let's change the style.
Yeah.
No, you're not wrong.
That's actually dead on.
That is dead on, which is to say he's not an unattractive man.
he's he's good looking he's a good actor he's talented um and maybe you know there's some
aspect to say that's that's a huge benefit to be kind of the every man look and not have like a
um you know baggy eyes or a big nose or uh you know whatever but uh yeah have we ever seen
patrick wilson with like facial hair or don't think so i don't think so i can't think of anything
i think i saw him in something where he had a they made him bald for the for the role but other than
that just I don't think they'd change him that much yeah damn he's good in season two of fargo you guys
he really is oh I guess he has a mustache and something I'm looking at and he wasn't he wasn't insidious okay so I
did have that kind of right oh is that a spin out of that too yeah I don't know if it was a spinoff
but it was a conjuring universe yes exactly but would you if you do a Google image search for
Patrick Wilson 99% of it is the same look now he does have a mustache in some of this stuff
So I don't know if he's...
All right, a little facial hair here and there.
Take it easy there, Patrick Wilson.
Slow down, buddy.
Oh, yeah, there he is right there.
And it doesn't even...
I'm not even sure that was in a role.
I think that's just him being saucy in real life or something.
You know?
Yeah.
There he is, there he is conjuring things.
I mean, he really is a good-looking guy.
He looks like a guy that ran the football real good in high school.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, he's the guy you rely on.
He's the stand-up guy, the good friend of your...
that you, you know, you can call in times of trouble.
Yeah.
And then he'll be perfectly good in your movie that you need done.
Yeah, exactly.
He's also pretty ripped these days.
He is.
He gets nice and buff.
I'll give him that.
And he's in his 50s.
This is the sexiest Patrick Wilson performance.
Oh,
Collider.com, of course.
That place sucks.
Yeah.
So anyway, Cape Fear.
Watch it at your, you know,
watch it at your own risk, but or watch it if you're interested in it. And let me know. If you
disagree with me and Stephen obviously does, then good for you. If you enjoyed it, I'm glad
you got something more out of it than I did. But I felt so frustrated with that family, episode
after episode, just making dumb decisions that, that obviously from a story point of view
made this be a 10-episode series instead of it being like a six-episode series.
It's weird how much I agree with this without seeing it yet. Because I just,
I understand the mechanics of what you're saying.
It infuriates,
infuriates Stephen because he probably hates it.
No, I want him to watch it.
Yeah, he probably hates it.
But the mechanics of what you've described are problematic.
And so I totally get it.
Yeah.
But I don't know, maybe I'll cram it one day.
Who knows?
There you go.
Why are you sitting today, Brian?
What's going on there?
So I did my labor yesterday.
Yesterday and morning did film sack with the boys,
talked about absolutely anything.
Had a blast.
Terrible movie.
Had a blast, though.
Once you get past the,
the Roger Taylor song,
there really isn't much else to love about that movie.
But then after that,
I played Demio on the meta
with Barry and DJ George and Adam Maccast.
And then Tristan came over because I said
I would help him do his breaks.
I would help him change his brake pads.
So he shows up at 1 o'clock.
We run over an auto zone.
We're like, all right, break cleaner.
break pads for front and back for an Audi,
Quatro, T, T, T.
A kid has a way better car than me, by the way.
Like a better car than Tina.
I don't know what the deal is.
Yeah, what the hell, kids of ours.
You know, you feel like you've done something right
when your kids have better cars than you.
I guess so.
Yeah.
Usually they have to, in today's world, though,
they end up having to live in a cardboard box to afford the car.
Yeah, well, exactly.
Yeah.
And he's kind of regretting that purchase.
Yeah.
So we put it up on the floor jack.
We get it up there.
We take the front wheel off.
And we're like, oh, yeah, this is not as easy as the Kia.
Okay, there's like, you know, there's actually a sensor that connects up to his brake pads has a little kind of metal loop on it.
So when the brake pad gets down to a certain level, it disconnects.
It breaks that wire and tells you that you need to replace your brakes, which is kind of cool.
you know people like me people who grew up in a certain age you listen for the squeaking when you start hearing the squeaking there's like a little a little um it's the head of a screw or something that is meant to alert you when it starts hitting the um the rotor that it's like okay it's time to change your your brakes yeah metal clip i guess what it is right yeah it's a metal clip that just says okay that's it time to change the brakes because i'm hearing the squeaking on the rotor no apparently the Audi uh find
group of automobiles has instituted this little wire that goes oh i don't know way behind the
caliper so if you're if you're fred who works at a midas and you put the car up on a lifter great you take
the wheel off you can see that you can change out that clip but when you're working on your son's car
in the garage and you've got to like play twister to uh actually get this little thing
unclipped so you can click on the new one that came with the new brake pads yeah pain in the
but and I don't know what the deal is why they felt like they needed to have a completely different set of
not even not even size but kind of bolts for between the front and back brakes like the front
brakes uh ratchet take those things off no problem the back one you need this you need one of
those um bolts that goes inside like a almost like a you know you and i deal with these little
tiny hex tools all the time to take off little screws off the back of little tiny pieces of
electronics.
Imagine that blown up huge where you're like, you know, trying to get this thing.
And guess what?
They put the brake line with the fluid right in front of where you'd need to unscrew that.
So you need a little stubby ratchet or an Allen wrench and an hour to take off these other bolts.
Yeah.
after hunching over and kneeling on this pad and yanking tires off and putting tires in these stupid metal anti-rattle clips and these just absolute nightmare five hours of break break work and that's why I'm sitting today.
That's a lot.
I'd be sore.
I might not even be up yet if it were me.
So you're doing better than I would have done.
Holy crap.
That's so funny.
Nick had to do his breaks yesterday, too.
Oh, really?
But in this case, it was Dylan doing it.
And it was a Honda, which is a little easier.
But Dylan's a big car guy, knows everything about everything.
And so Nick went over there yesterday morning,
and they spent, I don't know, three hours doing his breaks or something like that.
But it's just weird.
Both our kids had break issues and had to have him fixed.
That's so funny.
Yeah.
Tristan leaves.
He says, thank you.
Like, super gracious.
Spent the whole day doing this.
He leaves.
Tina looks at me.
He goes, father of the year.
Yeah, it is.
I'm like, yeah.
He owes it for that.
He does.
We like calculated how much it would have cost if you would take it to the shop.
And we figured we saved $1,350 doing it in the garage because.
Just labor, really, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, my gosh, dude.
Yeah.
Well, well done.
That's funny.
Just as Nebula Maris says, dang, just take it to the dealer.
I feel like I'm missing out on a fun experience.
Yeah, take it to the dealer.
You know what?
I have a lot of things that I could do better with $1,500 than give a,
a dealer to replace brakes.
Yeah, and they often will go,
you got this other issue we need to look at.
And it's like, no, you don't.
Don't try to add shit on here.
Every time I go to a dealer,
they try to add something that doesn't need to.
Always.
And I have a mechanic when I go to him.
He's honest with me.
He's a mom and pop place,
have been around forever.
Everyone trusts him.
I'll do that.
Thank you very much.
Yep, absolutely.
The dealer can eat a poo.
I don't.
The only thing I go to the dealer for is
that one piece that's very specific to Kia
that the dealer can't get or can't get easily.
And it's like, yeah, no, I'll just go get it.
Yeah, totally fine.
Yeah, that's how it's going to work.
Ladies and gentlemen.
And I'll look at their little stuffed animal hamster toys.
Yeah, anyway.
Exactly.
Yeah.
All right, guys, it's time for something fun.
I promise you it's fun.
Here it is.
Oh, that music, just imagine how much fun we're going to have when you hear that music
when Brian Dunaway joins us.
Hi, Brian Dunaway.
Oh, hi, Scott and Brian, and happy laborious day.
Yeah, man.
I can tell you're at home today.
Nice to get a little day off.
I must feel good.
Oh, yeah, I got a day off from work, but not from podcasting.
Somebody contact the union.
That's right.
I can't believe how hard they're working.
Can you imagine the idea of like a unionized podcasting thing?
It would make no sense.
We'd all have to.
Who would I complain to?
Who would I strike against?
I'm going on strike against two.
Myself.
Bye.
Have you seen Brian Ibitt?
He's such a.
scab. He's doing his own thing.
He's scabbing. Oh, the scabs.
Well, it's good to have you here. We're going to play a game. It is called the final countdown.
No, what's it called? The final countdown. What do we call it? It's called. Do frogs have brains? It's a trivia countdown.
It is. Brian Nibbitt knows all the rules and kind of who's involved. So he's going to explain it to us.
Brian, take it away. Well, that's right. Scott. Welcome to do frogs have brains, a countdown style trivia game.
I've got 20 questions across various subjects,
including art, science, entertainment, porn history, and more.
Scott and Brian will each get...
What? What'd you say?
Just see if you're paying attention.
Scott and Brian will each get 90 seconds to answer as many of these questions as they can.
To skip to the next question, just say pass.
While scats and scats...
While scats...
...were going to put Brian in a soundproof isolation booth,
and the player with the most correct answers after 90 seconds
wins the prize for their contestant.
Contestants have been pulled from our Patreon support.
reporters at patreon.com slash tms.
Scott is playing for Amanda Peterson.
Yes. A man to Peterson.
I feel like a mo's.
Mo Sizzlatte getting pranked at the bar.
Looking for Amanda hugging kiss.
Is there Amanda hugging kiss here?
That's awesome. Amanda's great.
Wait till I get my hands on you, you a little.
That's right.
I'm going to beat her. I'm going to win for her.
I'm fighting for you, Amanda.
There you go. Brian, you are playing for Worley Bird.
Whirley Bird.
Chopper, chop, chop,
chapp.
I don't hear that anymore,
really, do you?
No,
calling Worleybirds?
Yeah.
Don't hear that term.
You know,
as if you did, right?
I'm up of the Channel 9,
Whirleybird,
looking at the traffic today.
There's going to be,
blah,
blah, blah,
yeah.
I swear to God,
I thought turkeys could fly.
Bring them back.
Bring them back.
All right.
Well, good.
I like these people.
Let's play for them.
Sounds good.
Brian,
Brian, please,
uh,
put on your soundproof.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Sh, shh.
I'm thinking, shire.
Don't shush the host.
You must be gone.
Okay.
All right.
Scott, I will start your timer as soon as I ask the first question.
Sounds good.
Here you go.
The favorite drink of Fraser and Niles, from which country does the drink Sherry come from?
France.
Oops, it's doing 60 seconds.
Hold on.
Don't do or say anything.
Stop.
Clear.
So clear.
set up to start, start timer.
I will start the timer now
and we'll just count that time you spent before.
It's like five seconds.
Al-Kabob, let's get that timer at 90 seconds.
Okay, anyway.
How long is a tennis court?
About 50, 78 or 94 feet?
78.
Which continent is the second largest in the world?
Oh, Australia.
By what more familiar name do we know
the keyboard invented by Christopher
Scholes in the 1870s.
Moog.
By which
high-ranking, I'm sorry, which high-ranking
Nazi was captured by agents of
Mossad in Argentina in 1960?
Gerbils.
Which ancient civilization
worships Inti, the sun god?
Oh my gosh. Pass.
What is the name
for the study of the form and constitution
of the human body? Anatomy.
Very good. Which celebrity
appeared on the cover of TV guide the most
Lucille Ball,
Bill Cosby or Bob Hope.
Bob Hope. In which
year did the Berlin Wall come down?
91.
Which word of Latin origin means
with another name?
Pass.
In which Italian city
is Michelangelo's original statue of David
on permanent display?
Spain.
Which of Agatha Christie's fictional characters
is the only one to have been given an
obituary in the New York Times?
pro pro guy
which company owns Taco Bell KFC and Pizza Hut
Kraft Nestle or Yum
Yum
Which jazz musician was known
Whoops
Which jazz musician was known as Bird
I'll let you finish
Bird?
Bird?
The word
I don't know
I don't know
All right very good
Four points
Nicely done
Yeah the timer didn't work
When I hit the space bar
But I think it's because I went
back to
Oh, it wasn't in focus or something.
Yeah, exactly.
So I went back to the other page and came back to it.
So all right, four points.
Very good.
All right.
Let's bring Brian in and see how he does.
Very well, I shall release Brian.
The ding was delayed a little, so I wasn't sure which one I was getting right.
I know.
I know.
Yeah, it had some goofy issues with that.
Hello?
Hello?
Hello?
Hello?
Hello?
Hello?
now listen here Brian I'm not doing to say your work's cut out for you but I might say it I might say it yeah your works cut out I heard quite a few dings but I heard a bunch of weird stuff I heard like the buzzer go off like twice or something
the timer starting over and yeah I was like I don't know what's going on I'm going to pretend like I can't yeah we had some I had some issues with the timer starting and I had some issues with the first answer getting a ding and stuff like that so all right we're good Brian if you are ready let's I am not let's go
Okay, I'll start the timer.
Hopefully, after I asked the first question.
All right.
Here we go.
The favorite drink of Fraser and Niles, from which country does the drink Sherry come from?
Oh, Spain.
How long is a tennis court about 50, 78, or 94 feet?
Geez.
94 feet.
Which continent is the second largest in the world?
South America.
By which?
No, I'm never wrong.
Go ahead.
Pass.
Next.
By what more familiar?
your name do we know the keyboard invented by
Christopher Scholes in the 1870s?
1870s, the organ.
Which high-ranking
Nazi was captured by agents of
Mossad in Argentina in 1960?
Brad Pitt.
Which ancient civilization worships
into the sun god?
Who?
No, pass.
What is the name for the study of the form and
constitution of the human body?
Anatomy.
Which celebrity appeared most on the cover of
TV guide?
Lucille Ball, Bill Cosby, or
Bob Hope.
It was still a ball.
In which year did the Berlin Wall come down?
Oh, 1998.
Which word of Latin origin means with another name?
What?
No, pass.
Which Italian city is Michael Angela's original statue of David on permanent display?
Italy?
What?
In which Italian city?
No, it doesn't go.
Oh, Spade, what?
Go, next pass.
Which of Agatha Christie's fictional characters is the only one to have been
given an obituary in the New York Times.
I'm Agatha Christie.
I don't want to pass.
What company owns Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut.
Craft, Kraft, Nestle, or Yum?
Which jazz musician was known as Bird?
I'll let you finish.
Say it again.
Which jazz musician was known as Bird.
Pass.
He also said Spain, Italy, by the way.
That's the really funniest thing is.
Well, the question was in which Italian city is Michael Angelo's original statue of David on permanent display.
Both Brian and Scott said Spain.
Yeah.
And you know what?
I have a theory.
I still had Spain in my head from earlier about Frazier.
I don't even know.
And you got that one right, which I got wrong.
I said it was from, I don't know where I said.
But you said, yeah, France?
Yeah, I think I said France.
But here's my theory.
I think that we both did that because my brain, Brian, you can.
confirm or deny. I don't know. You can confirm or deny this. But when Brian asked the question,
it sounded like it should be in Italy, but it's somewhere else. And where would that be
permanently displayed? Because you said Italy in it and I was like, it has to be. And 100% your
question was not worded wrong or any of that. Like your question is correct. But I think our
intensity of like, I have to get it. I was like, wait, is that. What other country took it and
put it up? Probably Spain, those bastards. Right. Right. Then whenever, I always get in the,
in cities versus countries versus continents.
It's all fine if you give me a couple of seconds to think about it.
But when you, though it at me, I'm like, shit.
Let me go.
Is that a country?
Is it a continent?
Wait, the city?
Huh?
Yeah.
Well, you won is the point.
Oh, did I?
Let's go through some of these questions.
Yeah, Sherry comes from Spain.
A tennis court is 78 feet long.
Scott got that one.
Which continent is the second largest in the world?
Africa is the second largest.
The keyboard, the,
keyboard that was invented by Christopher
Scholes, you guys went music.
It's the QWERTY keyboard.
Oh my God. How did
when you said 18,
I just thought it's got to be
yeah. Yeah. You're thinking
Oregon, you're thinking music and organ and stuff.
Which high-ranking Nazi was captured
by agents of Mossad and Argentina
1960. Adolf Eichmann,
who Brad Pitt might have played in a movie.
Eichman. Okay.
I was bummed that 90 of you get this.
The ancient civilization that worships
Enti, the sun god. It's the Incas.
Inca's. All I can think was Aztec,
and I was like, that's not right. Should have said that.
What is the name for the study? You got, both he got Anatomy,
Lucille Ball on the cover of TV guide 34 times.
Jeez, Louisiana. I can remember that from some research.
That's crazy.
Berlin Wall came down in 1989, but if there was a movie about it,
Scott would have gotten the year right.
Word of Latin origin that means
with another name,
alias. Brian, I only keep track of really important dates like movies that came out in 91.
Only because I was doing research on 8-bit computers and how it affected how it was in Germany.
And I knew when the wall came down because that's when they unified the 8-bit computers.
Oh, that's funny.
That's really funny.
Michelangelo's original statue of David, not Spain, but actually Florence, Italy.
Hercule Poirot is the
I got that one right
The Christie character
Yep the kind of obituary
Yum does own Taco Bell
Really? I thought Pepsi bought Taco Bell
Pepsi did in the 80s
Yeah
They sold it to Young Brands
Yeah
Young Brands is a massive
Corporation
They really are
Yeah
And the jazz musician
Known as Bird
He was played by
Forst Whitaker
I believe in a movie
Charlie Parker
Oh
Okay.
In a movie, in a movie.
I was never going to get that, but now that you say it, I would have gotten, I guess.
Now, this brings up an interesting question.
If you answer before I finish the question, like you did, Brian, with, you know, what company owns Taco Bell KFC and Pizza Hut, I was, what I did is I finished the question.
I think also you, I think you asked something about the Italy question before you said Spain.
And I repeat at the beginning.
I should just say pass like a moron.
Well, but the question is, if you interrupt and give me an answer, should I, whether it's right or wrong, if it's right, obviously, we'll move on in the next question.
But for future times of this, should I say incorrect and move on to the next one?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Does that mean we would have tied today?
Yeah.
Yeah.
We would have tied.
Well, look, this is how we learn and build.
This is how we tweak it.
And, you know, Amanda, apologies.
that you have to deal with that.
But also if you had a tie,
what would we have done,
we'd have to do a high low or something.
I'd do the tiebreaker high low thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, it all worked out in the end.
You know, I could you always do is give you one last question
and whoever gives me the right answer first.
Oh, yeah, that would work too.
Yeah.
Well, what did our fine winners and follow up our winners win today?
Yeah, some pretty cool stuff today,
courtesy of our friend,
Grievous.
Amanda, I'm sorry, Worley Bird, you're getting a copy of
Dungeon Tycoon and Etrian Odyssey 3.
Great games.
Both great, but don't worry, Worley Bird.
No, don't worry, Amanda, I did this twice.
I actually typed it incorrectly in the thing, too.
Hold on, X and paste.
Command V. There we go.
Amanda Peterson, you're getting a copy of Small Land, Survive the Wine.
Oh, it's excellent.
You're a tiny little bug person thing, and the world is huge.
So grass is like gigantic, but you're like tiny in our world.
Really?
Oh, it's kind of cool.
Like that backyard one that they have with the kids in it.
I forgot what's called.
The honey I shone the kids.
Yeah, there's ground.
Grounded is that.
Yeah.
And that really does riff on the honey thing.
But yeah.
This one is a little more fantasy-based.
It's very good, though.
Really, really good.
So I think we both have, we have two winners today and then two losers.
But we don't have to.
talk about those guys.
Very good.
Well done.
Done away.
It's a lot of fun.
Done away super fun.
Oh, go ahead.
Yeah.
Did we answer the question?
What was the question?
Do frogs have brains?
No, they don't.
No,
I don't want to answer it every week.
Yeah.
Perfect.
Yeah.
Every week we answer it just by being here.
Well done.
We'll be back at it on Wednesday with a little tad poolie feud.
Yeah.
And you'll be, you know, back at the office.
That'll suck.
But don't.
But don't worry, I've sent your complaint to HR regarding your podcasting.
And may your day be great by, because our butts by.
All right.
He's out of here.
That was a super fun one today.
Really enjoyed that.
Yes.
So much fun.
Now, let's enjoy this.
And now welcome Stephen to the show.
He's a huge freaking nerd.
Dollar, dollar bills, y'all.
Stephen Schleiker joins us all the way from Hayes, Kansas, the very home and headquarters of all
things major spoilers.com.
Stephen, welcome to the program.
Hello, Scott.
And hello, Brian.
Hey, thanks for hanging in there.
We went a little long there.
Yeah, no problem.
I enjoy listening to you guys to answer questions.
Yeah.
It's a really...
It's great.
I love it.
The countdown is really fun.
I like it a lot.
I know.
I do too.
There's probably some more tweaking that needs to happen with it, but this is such a blast of a game.
So, yeah.
Chat's talking about whether Dunaway's on Trump poll on YouTube saying, is it fair because
is it done away on a delay?
He's not on a delay.
No, somebody else commented that when Dunaway's answering, and you can't help it, because
Dunaway's funny, he says things that make you laugh, and the laughing sometimes might make
it harder for him to hear the question and stuff.
Oh, that's a good point.
I could always mute for that.
It's easy.
I don't want you to because that's so fun.
It is fun hearing you react to his answer.
I'll try to be less, you know, all up in it.
Like if he says something really funny, I just will go bra-br-br-w-w-while Brian's trying to talk.
Or go like a foot back from the microphone and, uh, yeah, step away to breathe, you know,
exactly.
Yeah, Tazon Day that business.
All right.
I think we can make that happen.
Uh, Stephen.
I have a question.
Yeah.
Uh, I've been trying to catch up on back episodes of the morning stream.
Yeah.
And I think it was Fridays.
Brian, have you still not watched, uh, Nirvana, the show, the band, the movie?
No.
Uh-uh.
Oh, my gosh.
I never, I never watched the, you don't have.
You don't have.
I know.
I knew nothing about this.
Okay.
And it was a blast to watch.
Really?
So a couple of things.
Well, I don't.
Okay.
Can I, yeah, I'll let you say your thing and then I'm going to say something else about it.
So it's the, you know, if you want to know from the web series, it's just kind of like sketch comedy out on the streets.
You know, nobody's, you know, scripted.
I would say 98 to 99% of everything in the movie is done without a permit.
Okay.
And the next thing is the amount of work that.
went into the special effects of this is mind-blowing.
Really?
Yes.
All right.
So Alamo showed a couple, I don't know if they were showing clips from the movie or maybe
from the web series, but there was one clip where they're in the studio and dude who's
wearing a hat.
And it's great, wear a hat, whatever, is hearing a voice.
He's like, I'm in your head.
And he's like, I don't know where you're at.
That's not from the movie.
Okay.
Yeah.
And then it turns out he's in the paper machet giant head that these guys used for something else.
And like it just went on for so long.
No, this one moves pretty quickly.
And then when you realize what they're her editing.
Yeah.
It makes you lean in even more to go.
Okay.
I'm going to pull this off.
Okay.
You know what?
A couple other people have recommended.
it. You're recommending it is going to
it pushes it over the edge for me.
Even though you're absolutely
100% wrong about sugar.
But I'm sorry. No, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
No, I'm not going to take that away from me.
Same way with the best Spider-Man movie is still homecoming.
Wait, homecoming.
That's the first, that's the first Tompoh.
Oh, the first Holland one, really.
Interesting.
Yeah.
I mean, I liked it a lot.
Yeah.
But it's what's good is that you know that you're wrong.
sorry. Now, go ahead. What's the premise of the...
The good news is. Do you know the premise of the movie?
Uh-uh, no.
Oh, okay. Then maybe I shouldn't. Because, well, I'm going to just say it. It's a time travel movie.
Oh, really?
It says so right in the description, and it also, when you're on Hulu, it's...
And this is the only reason why I watched it is because it says, time travel comedy.
And I was like, okay.
Okay, I heard these guys mention it briefly a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to watch it.
And I watched it probably that same weekend.
And I'm just like, wow.
I hope Brian has watched this because I think...
Okay. I'm putting it on my list.
Tina's gone for the next three days.
She showed zero interest in seeing this in theaters.
Oh, I mean, there's no...
If it was in the theaters, I would not go and see it.
Yeah. Okay.
Well, I'm still saying it'll be something I watch without Tina.
And if I like, oh, my God, Tina, you have to see this, then I'll show it to her.
But, okay, I'm going to watch it over the next three days.
I will report back to you the next time we talk.
Nice.
Excellent.
You'll probably get a text for me saying, all right, dude, you're right.
Or, no, this is my sugar, dude.
This is my sugar.
This is my sugar.
That's the new thing to do when you don't like something.
Oh, it's my sugar.
It's my sugar.
Or if you like it, though, the problem is you like sugar, so you can't say it.
That's true.
I'd like that.
You'd have to say, this is my.
This is my, what's the dried squid snacks that you like that I hate?
I think it's just that dried squid, I think.
Yeah.
I love those.
Do we lose Stephen? I'm not hearing him anymore.
Oh, are you there, Stephen?
Do we lose you?
Oh, he muted himself, it says.
Oh, okay.
Am I back?
Yeah, you're back.
Oh, sorry, I changed a button and it muted me.
Yeah, that'll happen.
It's all.
It's all right.
Not a worries at all.
Well, let's get to.
We got some stuff.
A lot, actually.
And we don't have to zero on any of these in particular if we don't want to, but I actually
really like everything you sent us.
You asked why we're not playing Zero Company?
I'm playing Zero Company.
I haven't, what did I watch the other day?
You're doing some test stream and you're playing like,
It's like,
Starbreaker.
Yeah.
Updated asteroids.
It looked like descent, like in the way that you could go.
You're flying a spaceship and you were blown up like asteroids and then some space station and some guys.
Yeah, it's a game.
It's a game called Everspace 2.
It's one of my favorite games of recent years.
I love, love, love that game.
But it was just for test.
I was just dorking off.
I got kind of,
the problem is it was only supposed to do it for like 10 minutes and I got kind of into it and played it for an hour.
That's kind of what Zero Company is.
I was like, okay.
Let me play just one mission.
Yeah.
Zero company is definitely that.
One more mission.
One more mention.
As soon as I finish dispatch, I'm picking up zero company.
Oh, yeah, man.
If you are a fan of XCOM, this is XCOM 3.
I mean, half the people that were on XCOM 2 worked on this game.
Yeah, and XCOM 2 is kind of the same mechanics.
Xcon 2 is like the all-time watermark, probably.
If you include its expansion, I think that's an important part of that game.
But this comes damn close.
And if you're a Star Wars fan and even remotely like turn-based X-com style strategy tactics,
holy shit and the story's great
I don't know how far you are into it
I'm probably
I'm not super far I'm probably
four missions in or something
I think I'm like six or seven missions in
right at the point where we're confronting
the leader of the coil for the first time
or the infinite coil for the first time
but man some spoilers
from what I've been watching
other people play there's a certain
Jedi that shows up later on
the Mandalorian build looks great
It's, it's cool.
It's cool. It's cool. It's set in an era that I don't normally like.
It's the Clone Wars era.
And it's not my favorite era. It's okay.
I like to show the Clone War show.
And I like the Tartikovsky thing he did years ago.
And I like some things about it.
But I hate the prequels.
And I just, I don't know, I'm just not into like whiny Anakin era, Star Wars.
But this thing, this is not whiny Anakin.
No, it is not.
Let's put that in.
This is really, this is really good.
Like really, like the tone and the vibe and all the settings so far of the missions and stuff,
just right up my Star Wars hole.
Yeah.
I would say this is like late, late Clone Wars before Order 66.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Things are, I mean, you got, you got a clone with some, he needs a new outfit because it's getting banged up because things are bad.
Like, there's just, there's a lot of reasons to like it.
The only thing that pissed me off about it is I'm a sucker in these games for keeping me, keeping everybody alive.
Oh, right.
because that's what they die permanently,
if you set it to do that.
By default, it's set to do that.
Yeah, by default.
And most of these games are,
X-coms that way, too.
You could turn that off,
but I really wouldn't because you get hooked on these characters,
you really like their builds,
and you want to be careful with them.
And if they die, it's actually kind of devastating,
but you move on, you get somebody else.
It's a great part of these games.
Well, this isn't a spoiler,
but in the early goings,
a character will die.
It has to.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
But you don't know that for sure,
So when it happens, I went, I'm like, I'm going back my last save.
I can't have somebody die this early.
And I kept doing it.
And I'm like, why is he keep dying?
And then I realized, oh, wait, maybe this is a story point.
Yeah.
So then I went on.
And sure enough, there's a whole thing about how that dude croaked.
We'll just call him McClunky.
We'll call him that.
Okay.
Yeah.
I won't sense.
You can hire another McClunky.
Yeah, you can get as many McClunkies as you want.
Many McClinkies.
Okay.
But this one is ours.
Anyway, yeah, Zero Company's awesome.
But what if I wanted more Star Wars comics, Stephen?
Where would I get those?
So there's a lot of Star Wars comics, and they're not all at Marvel Comics.
So Marvel Comics right now has the main Star Wars title.
They have Star Wars Legacy of Vader, which is kind of like,
how did Kylo Ren become Kylo Ren kind of thing?
Yeah.
Launching this week on Wednesday, the Book of Boba Fett, which is just the adaptation of the TV series.
And then also, I think it's still ongoing the fall of Kylo Ren, which so you're getting both ends of that thing.
Does it mean the Boba Fett thing is a bad comic then?
Because that show is kind of bad.
Or is it?
Well, it's an, it's an ad.
I haven't read it.
Okay.
So,
but it is the adaptation of the TV show.
Of the series.
Yeah,
yeah,
there were aspects of it I liked,
but yeah,
it's a bummer because we had such high hopes for it after the Mandalorian that,
uh,
book of Boba Fett is like,
all right,
cool.
John always says something funny on Corey.
He always says,
um,
where's Boba Fett?
He's in the back to tank.
I guess that's kind of all,
he spent all his time.
Yeah.
Pretty much.
Pretty much.
Now, so I mentioned, so those are the Marvel titles.
Dark Horse Comics has Star Wars, the High Republic Adventures, and Hyper Space Stories.
Hyper Space Stories is an anthology series, but both of these are geared more towards kids.
So if you've got like a tween or younger who's into Star Wars, you might want to pick up those titles for them.
I didn't know Dark Horse still had the rights to do anything.
So I'm going to get on my little bit of a soapbox here.
Oh, I love Stephen's soapbox.
So when Disney bought Marvel, they basically said Marvel, we want you to do comic books, right?
So like Boom Studios and a bunch of other places had Disney comics going on.
Boom Studios had like cars and Toy Story and a bunch of other stuff.
And those got all yanked away when that license expired.
Well, Marvel tried to do like Big Thunder Canyon and Haunted Mansion and all these kids friendly titles.
And I guess they didn't sell or something.
And so they were like, hey, other public.
publishers, if anything would, if you would like to license the stuff, we can't figure out how to sell,
uh, by all means do so. So dark horse came in and said, hey, we would like to do this,
these kids, uh, kid friendly titles. Yeah. Uh, for that. So yeah, Marvel does pretty good
when it's focusing on the adult content stuff. Yeah. Or I should say, you know,
18 plus, uh, stuff. But when it comes to the kid stuff, I don't know why they can't market that
stuff correctly. And they just say pass and they just hand it off to everyone else because
it's weird.
Aladdin, Alespin, a lot of the villainous game characters, they're all over at dynamite entertainment.
They're doing a whole thing.
They've got what's the Lilo and Stitch?
They've got a whole series of that over at dynamite.
So yeah, it's like the kid-friendly stuff, Marvel doesn't want to have anything to do with it.
This is funny because if you had said to me, Marvel wants to do the kid stuff and Dark Horse wants the adult stuff, that makes more sense to me.
Totally does.
Yeah, like that I could see.
Yeah.
It's a weird flip on that, I guess.
Marvel had that whole kid imprint for a while.
They did.
Was Star Comics?
Was that what it was?
Something like that, yeah.
Yeah.
And it just, I don't know why.
It's Marvel.
How could you not market these titles?
And they just don't.
I mean, they just recently had an Uncle Scrooge series,
but I think that's gone, gone away.
So I don't know what the deal is.
It's done away, you say.
Yeah, yeah.
That's great.
Let's talk about the sad Bruce Campbell news.
He put an update out just letting people know how things are going because he had already announced recently that he had been given a terminal cancer diagnosis.
Five years or something.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And that's the update as this last week he announced that the prognosis is he has probably no more than five years left in that.
I don't know what the kind of cancer is.
I don't think he said.
He hasn't said, but when you look at some other people that have that five year or less, it's probably pancreatic is my guess.
That's my guess just because Steve Jobs.
had it and some other people had it.
And they went downhill pretty
quick after that. Yeah.
So there's, my understanding, Dr. Tolbert's
in the chat so you could clear this up if I get this
wrong. But there's some pancreatic
cancers that are literally like it'll take you in a
week. And then there are some
that, like Steve Jobs had
one that was treatable in the sense that
it was, you could get more time.
Yeah. This is probably
that if it's pancreatic.
The good news is, or
possible good news is, that
MRI
cancer thing is showing
huge promise for other cancers
besides just skin.
It's possible in those five years
there's some breakthrough and that would be awesome
for him and then all of us who are going to get it
eventually too.
For sure. He seems pretty accepting of it.
That's the cool thing. He's like
if you watch the interviews he's done just in the last week
he seems very
he's come to grips with
his mortality. Seems like a guy that can do that
you know. Yeah. I mean he's Bruce Campbell.
I like to think that.
I would be like that too, right?
Like it's, all right, well, I mean, I can't do anything about it.
I can fight it, and I will, and I'll get treatment.
But if this is the case, then I'll just accept it and enjoy the time I have and make the most of it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, good luck to him and makes me want to go.
I never did watch that TV adaptation of the Evil Dead.
Yeah, you should.
Ash and the Evil Dead or whatever was called.
Yeah, you should.
Yeah, I keep parents.
Great.
Dynamite Entertainment has Archie,
versus the Evil Dead comic.
Of course they do.
Yeah.
It's actually fun.
They're always good.
I don't understand how they do that over there.
They're crazy to me that they pull that stuff off so well.
That zombie one, or not zombie one.
Was it the zombie one?
That's the evil dead.
That's the evil dead one.
They're right in the middle of Archie versus the Terminator versus the Terminator.
What?
Yeah.
I kind of want to read these just to see how bad shit crazy they are.
They are crazy.
Like so in Archie meets Ash versus the Evil Dead,
it is Archie needs to buy some gift for Betty or Veronica or he needs the money or whatever.
So he goes to work at the S-Mart.
And there he meets Bruce Campbell and Bruce Campbell is, or I should say, he meets Ash.
And Ash is like, kid, here's how you do things.
That-da-da-da-da.
I was trying to give him, teach him the ropes.
And then he's like, Archie's like, oh, there's a big party at Reggie's new lakehouse.
Do you want to come?
And there's some quip about, you know, Ash being too old to be around high schoolers.
but what the hay he's going to drive Archie out there
and then he realizes this is the house
from the evil dead movies and
Reggie finds the necronomicon
and recites from it
and of course the deadites come out and
ask us to help everybody fight
fight them off so can I
please tell me in the Terminator one
that at some point the Terminator says
I need your
letterman jacket I have not any loafers
I haven't read that one yet
your clothes your milkshake
your milkshake I don't think that one comes out
until October.
Your stupid hat.
Whatever.
Right.
Your crown?
What is this?
I have to wear this.
I'm not wearing this crown.
Yeah.
Keep that.
You can keep that.
Archie versus the Terminator
comes out October 7th.
Okay.
So it's still a ways away.
Interesting.
It'll be fun.
All right.
Watch for that.
The Energon universe expands.
For those of you not familiar
with the Energon universe,
why don't you fill them in?
Because I know what it is.
So this is,
Hasbro has basically given the right
over to Skybound Entertainment,
which is Robert Kirkman,
aka Invincible and The Walking Dead.
And he has been having nothing but fun
in dropping surprise after surprise after surprise in this series.
First,
he announces this series called the Void Rivals.
And everyone's like,
well,
okay,
it's a new Robert Kirkman book.
I guess we'll pick it up.
And then on the last page of Void Rivals,
you realize that,
oh, no,
this is a,
this is set in the Transformers universe
because a Transformer shows up in the book.
Oh, bring it, dude.
Oh, really?
So there's,
there's Transformers now, and sure enough, a month later, they launch Transformers, and you're reading through Transformers, and then suddenly, G.I. Joe appears. And you're like, wait a minute. Transformers and G.I. Joe, this is awesome. And it has been a fantastic series. Void rivals, Transformers, G.I. Joe. You should read them all.
So that's a image deal, right? No, it's Skybound entertainment. I mean, it's an imprint. It's an imprint at Image Comics. So it is, people say Image Skybound, but Skybound is owned by.
Robert Kirkman, and he's one of the big upty-ups now at Image.
So he gets that.
I love the art, too.
I got to check this out.
I didn't even know this was out.
And then in G.I. Joe, in one of the episodes, I forget, one of the issues,
episodes, I think it was like around 20 or something like that.
They introduced one of the characters from Mask, the mobile, I forget what the whole acronym
Stam.
Mobile Artie's surgical.
Jim, Bob's way.
Yeah, yeah. And so people are like, and then everyone's like, oh, no, they've got the mask universe in here. What else can they do? And then in mask number three, at the very end, now they haven't announced the series yet, but at the very end of mask number three, there's a Barron Karzov teaser, which is teasing the Micronauts universe being part of this too.
And it's the freaking best looking Baron Karza I've ever seen. Like this, this Baron Karz actually looks threatening.
Like he's buff and he's like, you know, it doesn't look like this little goofy toy that I have somewhere behind me.
It's like, yeah, dude.
Oh, shit.
Look at that.
Yeah.
Oh, my gosh.
That's badass.
I want a 3D model of that.
I want to print that damn thing.
Oh, my gosh.
I love that.
Yeah.
It's really cool.
And then I think it was in mask number three, the same one that has Baron Karzov.
they were doing a blind bag thing.
And this is something that's a trend that's going on now
where they're just doing blind bag variants.
A lot of people got into this.
The Battle Beast series from Robert Kirkman did this,
and they had some really cool variant covers that you could get.
So when this mask number three came out,
everyone was very excited about going and getting a blind bag variant for this.
Some people open up their bag,
and instead of finding a mask comic book,
they find Rom the Space Knight inside instead.
and people just lost their minds.
And so they're like, okay, free comic book day, you can get the ROM number zero comic book.
And now they have, I think it was two weeks ago, they released ROM, the Space Night book that was that blindback variant.
But now, ROM is part of the Void Rivals series.
And the ROM book is really good.
If you think you know ROM, this is a completely different take.
This is almost like a spaghetti western version of ROM.
I mean, like that he's got like a serapae.
He's got like a Paco, which is actually like a living, it's like a living alien that is on him.
I can't believe how excited I'm getting for the freaking Energon universe.
Like, I love Transformers and I love all these things.
Energon or Energon.
Entergon.
It's nice thing, Energon.
Yeah, it's Energon.
Because that's the stuff in Transformers they're trying to.
Oh, is that okay.
Yeah.
So, but the reason.
Shows you how much.
Brian was more of a go-bots kind of
I was a micronauts guy
That's true, but all of these were like cartoons and properties
In some cases, toys first
But mostly things that were meant to sell toys
Right
And now we are giving them so much narrative heft
I love it
Yeah
Oh no, I think you guys would like GIO.
So there is a G.I.O series that Image Comics is still doing
And that's still being done by Larry Hama
And it's up into the 300 issues.
This is a different take on the GIO
title. So like the Baroness
is actually working for Joe
up until about issue 25,
which is the most recent issue.
So, you know, there's a lot of
characters that flip back and forth.
And so it does make it interesting. It's not like
you're just seeing a rehash. It's not like this
is the ultimate universe
of the, you know,
the old Marvel G.I. Joe's, etc.
The Larry Hama stuff. This is stuff that they're
really paying attention and crafting
some big stories that
interconnect between all these
Check out how Rom has only one eye.
Like he was in a fight and it took out one of his little laser eyes.
I mean, not to spoil anything, but I do want to read this first issue because he's got more than one eye missing.
And then what he does at the end is even cooler.
Really?
Really? Okay.
Dude, I'm all in on this shit.
Yeah.
The fact that it's Robert Kirkman enough is like, oh, I love his stuff.
So this is an easy, easy pickup for me.
I feel like I'm just behind on all this.
I didn't know what was out.
I'm going.
Yeah, for almost two years now for the Void Rivals, Transformers, G.I. Joe stuff.
Mask has been out just this year.
And then Rom just started up this month.
Well, sorry, August.
This is all good stuff.
Go check it out.
If you're in the mood for 80s stuff, who do we go to for that, though?
So if you're in the mood for 80s stuff, Dynamite Entertainment has Silverhawks, Thundercats, Thundar the Barbarian, the Terminator, Gargoyles, Tailspin, Space Ghost and the Herculoids.
Dark Horse Comics still has He Man and the Masters of the Universe.
IDW publishing has Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
AMP Comics, which is a really indie comic.
They just relaunched the second volume of Greatest American Hero last month.
Boom Studios will debut Jim and the Holograms later this year.
And so there is plenty of 80s cartoons to be had at your local comic book.
Is Jim still truly outrageous in these comics?
She is outrageous, yes.
Truly outrageous.
Okay, good.
I think you need that for Jim and the holograms.
I think you did.
That's great.
I was wondering, I really want to know who's going to get the K-pop demon hunters.
Oh, yeah, no kidding.
Because we know it's coming. It has to.
Yeah, it has to be coming.
Yeah.
If I'm going to bet, it's too big to not be some.
So it's Sony.
So that's Netflix.
Sony has, Sony and Netflix.
They can really go with any way.
They really could, but I'm, I guess what I'm saying is, who would have,
have the most.
So you've got Disney.
I don't think they would do that.
So that would be your whole Marvel line.
Boom Studios is still partially owned by Disney,
although they are Penguin Random House joint,
so Penguin Random House has the money.
They could do it if they would get behind it,
but Boom has been cutting back a lot lately.
Dynamite seems to have no problem doing licensing stuff.
And they're real regarded for it.
It's not like they're putting in.
crap.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know what, that'd be fine.
I'd go for that or image maybe, even do their own.
Image would be the one that would be, but that's all independent.
So that would allow Sony to keep a lot of their licensing stuff with it.
So maybe it could be image.
Yeah, Netflix are probably like that.
Maybe the K-pop demon hunters will show up in in Roms Space Night or something.
Yeah.
I wonder what they do style stylistically.
Like, I always go to that with these conversions.
Like, what you do?
You've got to be pretty true to the K-pop look, demon-hundreds.
look because that's
what's going to pull in the younger crowd.
They don't want to see, oh, what a wild take on the
K-pop demon hunters, making them pixelated or something.
No, they've got to look as much like...
There's a fine line, though, right?
Like how you stylistically move to a 2D format,
flat format that isn't a 3D CG movie
and still retain the look without
looking weird and uncanny?
I don't know. I don't know how they're going to do it.
That's always interesting to me.
So there is,
a movie adaptation comic book,
which is just a Fumetti.
Do you guys know what Fumetti is?
Never heard of Fumetti, but I've asked my doctor if it's right for me.
Hey, Dr. Tolbert, is that right for me?
So you've probably seen the old Star Trek Fumetti stuff
where basically they are taking stills from the TV show
and putting them into a comical form.
Oh, really?
So the K-Poc Demon Hunter, the movie in comics,
came out a couple of years ago, it looks like.
And it's basically just in the same style.
is the animated movie.
That came out in March.
And it's from Random House books.
So it looks like Random House may already have their claws sunk into Cape
Bob Demon Hunter.
So maybe Boom Studios.
Oh, what is that?
And so.
I was like thinking, oh, okay, so it's going to be, you know,
comic book-looking adaptations of the panels from the things.
No, it's actual photos from the movies.
You like, you know, you described it perfectly.
Stills from the film.
I was thinking, they start with Stills from the film and comic because of it.
I remember this when we were kids.
There was stuff like this, but I don't remember it having a name.
So Fumetti is a style or whatever.
They also call it just photo comics here in the States.
Let's see.
Oh, weird.
Some of this stuff is really weird, dude.
There's a cover of one here that's just like dude in a Halloween costume.
I don't like it.
freaks me out.
I don't know what's going on in that thing at all.
That kind of makes sense, though, for a thing like that.
Yeah.
You know, I can kind of see that.
Man, that's bringing back a memory of something when I was younger.
You probably have seen the Star Trek Fumetti ones.
Probably.
Because they were really popular in the United States.
Oh, I think I remember seeing those.
It may have been it.
It was something like that.
They would literally take episodes and just chop them up.
Yeah.
And it was like a thing you'd, even as a kid, I knew it was like the cheap way to do it.
Yes, very much so.
Like a really, like it was like super reuse it, but I remember loving them anyway.
I was just like all into it.
Anyway, interesting.
Also called photo, sorry, photo romances.
Yeah, or photo comics.
Yeah, and they'll do a lot of like, what's it, it's like almost like K-pop or K-Drama style.
Right.
Stuff.
I don't know who's reading that shit, but I mean, in the case of this,
K-pop demon hunters, the comic book, the movie, or whatever it is.
where they travel back in time.
I think it was real cheap to do that
because you can just say,
well,
we can make big money off of this really quick
off the popularity,
get it out on the store shelves,
even though it is just the,
even though it's just the movie chopped up onto page form.
That's what it is.
Trump All just did it.
Condor Man had photo covers for their comics.
Oh,
I remember those.
That's what I'm thinking of.
The Disney movie.
Yeah.
It was a condorman.
The Disney condorman.
Speaking of a movie that didn't age well.
No.
Yeah.
Oh, it's so great to say.
Have you sack that one? Have you sack that one? Oh, you really should. We need to. It's really bad and there are parts of it that are like today, Disney would be called a racist, a house of racism. Oh, absolutely. There's stuff that doesn't hold up, but I had that on repeat on some old VHS tape. Oh yeah, me too. I love that. Oh, my gosh, I loved it. Yeah. All right, well. Definitely do that for the facts. As you can see, a veritable buffet of options out there for you guys to check out, this has already got me on a track to, I'm, that Energyon universe is about to get consumed. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, that energy on universe is about to get consumed. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm.
Oh, you need to.
They've got several volumes out right now.
Just blow through it.
It's great.
All right.
I'm very excited.
Stephen, as always, there's plenty going on around major spoilers.com.
Tell people what's going on right now.
Right now, over at major spoilers.
com, we have plenty of reviews, but one of the things that I would love for people to do,
I would love to see us get like maybe 100 new subscribers this month,
free subscribers over at major spoilers.com.
It's our new sub-snack page.
And three times a week, you will get a newsletter, not today, because it's a holiday,
because I follow labor laws.
Oh, I see how it is.
You showed up here.
Yeah, that's true.
I'm not getting paid here.
He's not giving him a dime.
He's not getting shit for today's appearance.
That's how you do it.
That way nobody can complain, see?
I get it.
So three times a week I send out a newsletter.
Monday is usually a deep thought piece like
why the Warner Brothers Paramount Deal is a bad deal, for example.
On Wednesday's comic book recommendations,
as well as some buy-the-number stuff.
last week we broke down how much money the Coyote versus Acme made versus how much it sold for versus how much it needs to make, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
You know what feels good is knowing that it made more already than the Zazlov tax write-off it was trying to do.
Yes.
Yes, kind of.
No?
Is that not true?
I mean, it's kind of an asterisk, you know, real quick.
So Warner Brothers claimed 70 million.
Ketchup bought it for 70 million or 50 million.
They sold the international distribution rights for 20 million.
Yeah.
So that brings them down to third.
they spent about $10 million on distribution or marketing,
so that brings them up to about $40 million.
So you have to look at,
if you're looking at how much that movie has made,
you have to only look at the North American distribution.
You can't look at Worldwide Box Office.
I think Worldwide Box Office has it above the $50 million mark.
But again, half of that money is already going to the international distributor,
not to catch up entertainment.
So they need to make roughly at the theaters in North America,
they need to make roughly $120 million to, quote unquote, make money.
Does ketchup entertainment imply the existence of mustard entertainment?
That's what I want to know.
Maybe. But also, this is the largest release that ketchup has ever had.
The last Warner Brothers movie that they did or the Looney Tunes movie they did was
the Looney Tunes Blow Up the Earth or whatever the title of that one was.
That one only opened at like $3 million, but they only bought it for $5 million.
Which is, but also, wasn't that part of why Zazlov was like, sure that this is better as a write-off than as a release at the time?
Because it was like, these don't make any money.
That last one did terrible.
Why don't we just shelve this bastard?
Wasn't that the whole thing with him?
I know how much you'd love him and you think about him all the time.
I just love him all the time.
I love the fact that he climbed up through the ranks as somebody who liked to cut and slash budgets as much as he could, ruining every,
show that the Discovery Networks had
in order to get them to be the cheapest pieces of crap
that he could generate so that he could saddle the company
with debt and then buy Warner Brothers and move that debt
all the way over to Warner Brothers and then proceed to say
no we don't need to spend $200 million
for a sequel to the Barbie movie because why would you want to do that
and proceed to say oh well yeah you're right it would be better
if we just earned the Batgirl movie and never released it so we can just
declare a tax write off yes David Zaslaw
is a genius.
And the best part of the David Zaslov story is if this Warner Brothers
Paramount deal goes through, when he leaves, he will make somewhere between
$500 and $800 million.
Yeah, he's got a giant.
Oh, David Zasloff.
Boy, I could, boy, people, there should be a,
there should be a economics class on the David Zazlov thinking,
by the way, I still haven't seen lanterns,
won't see lanterns until he leaves because nobody should be giving their money to
Warner Brothers right now anyway.
I agree, but you all should see, I can't wait for you to see,
I'm so tempted.
It's so good.
Two times now I've opened up the app on my Apple TV and said,
should I resubscribe just for lantern?
Well, perhaps you.
No, I cannot.
I must stand by my principles.
I totally get it.
You could sail the high season.
Same reason why I haven't watched the second season of sugar.
I stand by my principal.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Hey, maybe season two would have turned you around.
Maybe that would have been.
It might.
I mean, I'm tempted to go and see what it's changed.
It is less about the thing.
The thing.
Yeah, the thing I think you have a problem with from the first season.
But yeah.
Ketchup Entertainment was founded in 2011, the exact same time me and Brian started this show.
So congratulations, ketchup.
We're as old as ketchup.
We're 15 years old each.
We're about to get our driver's license.
We got our learners permit.
Next year, our license.
TMS, as old as ketchup.
Now we can make out with our girlfriends in the back of our, whatever car
Brian was talking about it.
Volvo.
Nice.
Oh, Volvo's a great to make out.
Yeah.
Anyway, hey, Stephen, this is fantastic.
major spoilers.com. Get in there. Be a free sub now. Sign up. It's been an incredible journey watching this thing all these years and why not get in now if you haven't already.
Stay hydrated everybody. Stay out of trouble. All right, bye now. I am being. I stay very hydrated.
Yes. You guys can hear it once in a while. I know. Yeah, you've, you've, I haven't heard it since. I've gotten much careful. Yeah, I was J.K. Grammer, was driving him nuts and I went.
That's right. Just really, I thought the gate would not pick it up.
but it picks it up enough.
So now what I do is I either mute and drink or I'll just very gingerly, you know, bring it over.
Nice.
Okay.
Okay.
That's neat.
By the way,
I was surprised it just happens.
So that's probably why I didn't bring it up.
But spider noir canceled.
Oh, yeah.
I forgot about that.
The Nicholas Cage deal over on Amazon Prime, which at first time went.
It's a bummer, but I'm not at surprise.
It first says like, is it just a single season?
Did they plan it this way?
No.
No.
But it does end.
I still haven't seen it, but it does.
end kind of neatly, right?
It does end neatly. And it's worth saying.
It's, it is the, you know, it is exactly what you sign up to see.
It's Nicholas Cage playing, playing Spider-Man noir.
I mean, it's...
I heard the other day him say, what was the quote?
It made him piss blood.
He said, he said, I tried to do, or how'd you do that role?
And he goes, I just tried to be a spider.
Again, the most cage thing you'll hear all day.
Such a goon.
I love them.
What a legend.
I'd love to have a beer with Nicholas Cage.
I would not mind a beer with Nicholas Cage as well.
Although I don't even drink beer, so I don't know what I'd drink, but whatever.
Maybe I'd drink a beer.
That one time, I would drink a beer.
Just the one time you drink a beer, just because it's Nicholas Cage and be like,
ugh, this sucks.
But hi, hi, Nicholas.
Yeah, it stinks, but here's Nicholas Cage.
Right.
Here is our chance to say goodbye.
But goodbye, everybody.
We're done with this here show today.
Just today, though.
We'll be back tomorrow.
Tomorrow will not be Labor Day, but we hope you all have a decent holiday today.
I don't know what people's plans look like.
Stay safe.
Have a nice barbecue somewhere, but stay, you know, stay safe or say safe, as we like to say on this show.
Say safe.
And if you're in another country that doesn't, you know, celebrate Labor Day like we do.
Like in Britain, they have the Labor Party.
You can't have Labor Day without the Labor Party.
You have to have a different name for whatever.
If you're the Labor Party, every day is a day.
Labor Day. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
I know our current administration hates this holiday
because it sort of celebrates
collective bargaining and
yeah, you know, the workers
and... Don't blame me. I voted
for Count Benface. Yeah.
I voted for, I voted for
a wet turd on the sidewalk before I'd
vote for it. Exactly.
That's going to do it. A quick note,
I'm going to be doing a comic today on stream.
Sometime shortly after the show, I don't know exactly
what time, probably
whenever I get the thing posted.
up. I'll be on YouTube
and Twitch creating today's
new duck. So watch for that.
Brian will be playing Dispatch Chapter 4 at noon
today. Ooh. At noon. Yeah, chapter
four. This is the one you played a little clip of
on the show. I'm like, oh, there's some
naughty stuff going on there. Even censored,
it's a little
at the beginning, yeah. Even censored,
it's like, oh, shit, what am I looking at?
But it's enough to keep YouTube at bay, so you'll be
all right. Cool. And then
we got a Monday, Monday show
show tomorrow. Carter's out of town.
her and her friends did an art thing weekend deal somewhere.
Forget where they went, but I can't remember the town.
Anyway, somewhere here in the state, but they'll be back tomorrow,
and then I'm not sure when that'll be, but we're planning on a show then.
More and more available at the schedule.
Just go to frogpants.com slash schedule.
It's all there.
All right, we should play a song.
Let's pretend I fell and skin my knee.
This song should help me, right?
This will help you.
Yeah.
Hugh wrote in and said, hey, here's a different Irish take.
on Johnny Cash's slash 9-inch nails is hurt.
That's all he put.
And that's totally right.
That's just what it says on the label.
This is the 9-inch nails song,
but really this is more of a cover of the Johnny Cash cover.
But it's done in a very Irish folk kind of style,
which is really nice.
This is a singer named Christy Moore, short for Christian.
I can't think of it.
Christopher maybe.
Christy Moore, really talented singer, and usually does traditional Irish folk songs.
Most of his other covers are that.
He's got a couple of the things that I've played on the show, like Pogues and covers like that.
But this is a little bit out of his typical realm, but it's really, really good.
Here is Christy Moore and Hurt.
A Hurtless Show today.
To see if I still feel, I focused on the pain.
The only thing that's real, the needle tears of all, the old familiar sting.
I tried to kill it all away.
I remember everything.
My sweetest friend
Every one goes away in the end
You could hear of dirt
I will let you fall
This crown of thorns
On my liar's chair
Can toss need the stains of time
The failing disappears
You are some
Someone else
I am still
right here
Wait a sprout
could stop myself
