Starting point is 00:00:00 Fargo and Stranger Things actor Joe Kiri is also the guy behind one of the biggest hits of 2024 end of beginning. He came up with the name Joe, spelled DJO, late one night because he needed a name to upload his tracks to music services, and that's all he could come up with. Anyway, support TMS, spelled TMS. Today at patreon.com slash TMS. Coming up on the morning stream, I don't like e-comings. No country for gay men. Nibbler's shit. Cult of the FedEx guy.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Wing ding bats. Charles, fetch me my donut puppet. Gugly boobs. Because capital letters are uppity. Oops, all symbols. Have you met Backspace Boron? Fiery-ass girl drummer. Brine breaking sort of bad.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Stuck in Akewillow. Drinking nothing but pee until you die. Taking up space with Amy and more on this episode of The Morning Stream. Starting point is 00:01:09 So get our big T-Bone steak dinner any day for the next two weeks at our great low price. It's a fillet of fish. The morning stream. The whole damn shelf is breaking off. Hello and welcome to TMS. This is the morning stream for Tuesday, September 8th, 20206. I am Scott Johnson. That is, if you are to believe it, Brian Nibit.
Starting point is 00:01:49 If it's not a life model decoy simulation or an AI slop version, I've been accused of looking like a slop for most of my life. No, it's me. It's me. Yeah, but that makes your photo bombs all the more real to me, man. They're like NFTs for people now.
Starting point is 00:02:06 Yeah. Now, if you own one, it's a valuable commodity. Yeah. I think Luke Combs actually just released a cover of that Bonanza commercial. Oh, good for them. Sweet, good for them. Another 500 grand in their pocket. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:02:19 If you're like, what's the reference to Luke Combs? Listen, you all need to be patrons. Listen to the pre-show. Yeah. You're missing out. Y'all need pre-show people. Yeah. And we're not even like big country fans, Brian and I.
Starting point is 00:02:29 In fact, I would call Brian the opposite of a country fan. I'm an old country fan. I like Hank Williams. I like Kenny Rogers, Will, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, George Jones. But once you start getting into the spectacle of like the
Starting point is 00:02:47 massive arenas and the songs that all sound the same, I'm really not interested. I was talking about it with Hammond today on daily music headlines because we had a couple stories about country music. Carrie Underwood just did a show where she covered Limp Biscuit and Papa Roads. and I can't remember who else.
Starting point is 00:03:10 That's unusual. Yeah, did a cover of break stuff. And Hammond's like, yeah, I bet she's getting ready to come out with a heavy metal cover album. Like, oh, yeah, you're probably right. Oh, yeah. That's usually a sign. Yeah, but there was another article in today's show about how country music is kind of back
Starting point is 00:03:28 on the swing of things to folks like Casey Chambers and others, a more openness about sexuality song subject matter, right? Like, it's coming back as opposed to, well, you know, I'm going to go church and do do do do and drive home my truck and watch some football. That's a real country song. I think Luke Combs actually just now did a cover of my song.
Starting point is 00:03:53 The giveaway was that doot-doot-do part. Dude-d-d-d-d-d-d-d. Yeah. But apparently because of newer female artists, there's a more openness about sexuality. And I said, yep. except for the gays. Like,
Starting point is 00:04:08 you know, you still won't see Orville Peck getting, um, fair treatment at a country, like, like top billing at a country concert or anything like that, unfortunately. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:18 You're not going to get, um, who is that, whom I'm thinking of that was kind of openly, openly gay? Well, and I was like a, a country star.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Oh, country star that was open. For a hot minute and she, it was a she and it was, she had short hair. Oh, what was her freaking name? They buried her. That's how, that's how.
Starting point is 00:04:44 Katie Lang, that's it. Oh, Katie Lang. You know what that's funny? I don't even think of her as a country house, but she totally is. Yeah. She's about the only one exception I can think of. You still misspelled it, Amy. Please fix your spelling of Katie Lang.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Oh. What is it? G. It's supposed to be all lowercase. Oh. Lowercase K, lowercase D, lowercase L, and Leng. it's why is that what was that about I don't know
Starting point is 00:05:08 okay that's weird it's a little weird you think she goes to like the DMV and goes hold on a second to re-type this it's supposed to be all lowercase there's an author that did that too is it E.E. Cummings am I thinking is it the right
Starting point is 00:05:22 am I thinking the right person this is this is where Amy would definitely know was it E E.E. Cummings was it A.A. Millen was it R.R. Martin? Who is it that Yeah they're all saying it's E.C. Cummings. E. Cummings.
Starting point is 00:05:36 E. Cummings. E. Cummings. Who's coming? That's the name of my finishing move. Hell yeah. So, well, that's, that's, that's, it's interesting. Yeah, the lowercase. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:05:51 I'm trying to think of a case where that would be, I guess you just do what you do and you have a public image thing and you just do what you do. You just say, all right, it's really, you know, it is forever going to be all lowercase, Brian all uppercase Ibit is the way it's going to be from now on. Oh crap, can I just give a quick thanks to O'Crap for his title submission? No country
Starting point is 00:06:13 for gay men. That is so freaking on the nose. That's pretty good, man. That's pretty good. I don't know that it sounds ominous without context like we didn't, you know. It sounds like, of course, that's a problem around here. We don't have a country for gay men, but
Starting point is 00:06:29 I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated it. Even if we don't use it. All right. Yeah. Oh, yeah. The Rath 86 brings up. At least it's not the print symbol. Did you see the,
Starting point is 00:06:39 there was an artist earlier this year? Oh, someone else doing the symbol thing? It is a collection of symbols, some of which I don't even think you can type on a keyboard. And that is the entirety of their name. And then they released an album that's a bunch of other symbols. How do you search for that when you're looking for it?
Starting point is 00:06:57 Raith. That's it. Yeah. They also go by Raith, right? Is that it? Oh, is it Raith? How do you... So, but if they only go by this symbol, how the hell do you find them?
Starting point is 00:07:09 Yeah, let me see if I can find the... No, I don't think it's Raith. There's another... It's like an EDM artist that's all symbols. I mean, there's creative, and then there's like... And then there's, you know, Francis's reason is different, but... Exactly. Yeah, here we go. All right.
Starting point is 00:07:32 I'm going to give you this list. link, yep. You can even see it in the link that I'm giving you. Okay. Oh my gosh, dude. Yeah. Here, here for fun, chat. Let's see the link first. Yeah. So this is the link. It looks like that. Look at all that business at the end of the thing. Yep. And then if I go to the actual site. Yeah, the actual page. Oh, this page does not seem to exist, it says. What? Unless this is another one of their little jockey jokes that's bizarre do I have the right
Starting point is 00:08:09 unicode installed to like I know I don't know how else to give this let me see if I can is there another way for me to share this because can you shorten it like a tiny CC or something? Oh that's a good idea yeah okay yeah let's see
Starting point is 00:08:21 why would you do this to yourself if you were this band or performer this is the whole reason right exactly insane to me shorten domain not allowed but you can request a white listing it won't let me even make a tiny.cc. Let's try a
Starting point is 00:08:34 tiny URL and see if they'll let me do it. That is so funny to me. Not only is this impossible to search for and find. You can't even bring the damn thing up. You can't share it. Exactly, which is really funny. Maybe that's their whole thing is like, we don't we're not modern, man. You can only know about
Starting point is 00:08:52 us because you talk about it and you show up to our shows, man. Maybe it's like that. Oh God, verify you're human. Yes, I'm human. Okay, here we go. Excellent. Copy that they do look like wingdings chat they definitely look like wingedings yeah up same deal i get this really yeah i don't know why and that and the URL is exactly as you gave me up here um let's see that's funny here's my there's my there's my Firefox uh window up there oh look that nonsense that's hilarious yeah that i mean that is that's what it looks like in here um all right sun bun put a link
Starting point is 00:09:28 in the, in Twitch. Oh, Wikipedia? Yes. This is the Wikipedia page for the album, which is called Wingdings because what else would you call it? What?
Starting point is 00:09:42 That's so on the nose. Wait a minute. Oh. There's nothing there. Click that Wingdings album. Like, did you mean Wingdings album? Yeah, there you go. Okay. Now you got it.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Literally wingedings. That is what that is. So that top bit is the album title. And then underneath it where it's a studio album by Okay. What is this nonsense? Those are all the, this is the tracks. Those are the track titles.
Starting point is 00:10:15 The one thing about it it says is the release or sorry, the, so the English musician Kieran Hebden goes under the alias. Yes. It says it was released with like a lot of people really liked it. It is a really good album. I listened to it in the car. And you should see the key of soul try and put the name of this each track as it plays them on my little display screen. It's like a big long ticker forever.
Starting point is 00:10:45 It's like exactly. Like it's a little symbol vomit kind of thing. So hold on. If I went to just YouTube and said and searched for Wing Ding's album, I'd probably find this, right? You might. Yeah. Let's try it. Wing.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Come on, YouTube, knock it off. Wing, dings album. Okay. Yeah, if you go to Apple Music and you search for it, you get it as well. If you search for Wing Dings. Found it. Okay. So, all right, I'm going to check that out later because I love electronic music.
Starting point is 00:11:20 And I don't mind when people are being O-Tour about it, but that's crazy. It's a little, it's a little obnoxious. Yeah, I agree. Yeah. It's too much. It's like when he who shall not be named and Grimes name their child like 11 backspace, 74th chemical symbol for boron or whatever it was. You're like, oh, you guys are so clever. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:11:45 You know what it is for this one that's attention seeking? The one that annoys me about this one is that it goes against all the ways of discovery in 2026. Yeah. Yet it's based on a computer font from the 90s. So it's like you got one foot in and one foot out. And I don't know. It's just chaos to me. This is interesting because I was just thinking about bands or groups or even just single performers who have kind of a thing.
Starting point is 00:12:18 This is obviously very extreme. But last night, I could not. I went on a binge that made me feel like I maybe had some like OCD about it. I could not stop listening to Ghost last night. Just constant. Really? Oh, their new skeleton is so good. It's so good.
Starting point is 00:12:32 And they've got some really killer covers. I almost sent a request into TMS for a cover. Yeah. Because I love the... We played quite a few of them on the show. I think we've played... We played their cover of Abba's Marionette. Or the Carpenters?
Starting point is 00:12:46 Yeah, but Abba's Marionette. And... We didn't do the Tina Turner. We don't need another hero. We didn't know. No, I don't think we have. We got it. do that shit.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Yeah. That is such a banger, dude. Yeah. You know, I don't often say, I feel like covers and originals need to be judged separately and not compare it against each other because it's like comparing two different songs. You don't say, oh, this song is better, completely different song. But I do like Ghost's cover of We Don't Need Another Hero More than that Tina Turner version.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Yeah, it's really good. If that would have been in the credits of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, I would have enjoyed Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome more, I think. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, 9 to 12. Dingbats was the original term for typesetting for all those weird characters. Like, you know, you'd just say dingbats and zap.
Starting point is 00:13:37 Well, that was when the Mac had it, right? The windows come along and did their own thing. I think that's where Wingdangs came from. Is that where it is? It's like, we don't want dingbats. We want wingdings. I think so. I bet you're right.
Starting point is 00:13:48 I'll bet it's because the first three letters of wingdings are the first three letters of windows. And like, oh, shit. Yeah, and then Ariel became the new Helvetica for Windows and stuff like that. I think there was a thing here. Let's see, Wing Dings is a series of dingback fonts that render letters of variety symbols. They originally developed by Microsoft. Yeah, so there it is. Oh, 1990 by Microsoft.
Starting point is 00:14:13 So, yeah, it was a Microsoft invention. Wing Dings existed before that, though. Where Crusher brings up the band, the, the. Yeah, I just, if I'm searching for the-th-th-the-stream, I just search for Matt Johnson. because he's the, he's the dude behind the, he and Johnny Marr from the Smith's, but that always threw me because
Starting point is 00:14:33 it's literally my brother's name, so it's weird to search for Mad John. Yeah, searching for Mad John. Yeah, it's weird. Find a crazy Korean. Well, that's interesting. I had a weird thing happen yesterday. Mm-hmm. I think this came down to the guy I was talking to.
Starting point is 00:14:50 I have this neighbor. He's in his early 70s. Nice guy. Nice enough. he has this daughter who I taught in our class too is super sweet and his wife's really nice she's from Brazil just nice people but we don't talk that often
Starting point is 00:15:06 and yesterday I was out putting the garbage out like you do you know sure and we had particularly full garbage so I'm just sort of struggling with it it was very heavy I don't know what we put in there but something was heavy it felt like when you know when we've had watermelon yeah yeah that is the thing that
Starting point is 00:15:24 oh my gosh This is the time of year. Yeah, this is the time of year. If you get a heavy trash can, it's because of Watermelon Rines. Yeah, modern melon rines are like the most dense material in the universe feels like sometimes.
Starting point is 00:15:36 So anyway, we... And then Nibbler's shit. Yeah, there you go. Like the level. Those are the two. So we... Yeah. I was just moving it out there.
Starting point is 00:15:43 It was by myself and I... I'm probably... I don't know how far I'd have been... Whatever, like, probably like, 30 yards from him. Mm-hmm. So far enough that you'd have to, you know, wave or yell or whatever.
Starting point is 00:15:55 You got a wave. Yeah, right, yeah. And I go, I go, how's it going? His name's Steve. I go, Steve, how's it going? And he writes back. He sends back. He yells back.
Starting point is 00:16:08 He says back. He looks at me and it kind of pauses. Yeah, he tweets. It was a day later. No, he looks at me. He kind of looked at me for a second. Not confused, but kind of pausing for, I don't know, like he was, had to think of a reply. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:24 And he yells, the pet shot. Boys. Now, I don't have any idea. And I just went, all right, and I wave, and I went in and I was done. Yeah. The question is, A, if you hear the word, how's it going from far away, and maybe your hearing's not so great, or I don't know, it's just a long distance. Maybe I didn't even yell at that loud. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:48 What could he have heard, do you think? Maybe he didn't understand the question. He might have thought you were asking, what have I done to deserve this? And he was answering that. it's a sin oh that's a different song different song different song different band no same band different song yeah same band okay uh why'd that coming on my head but anyway he he I'm trying to think so if I say how's it going it must he must have thought what are you listening to did you have earbuds in no oh that I could tell in 30 yards away okay okay possible the little
Starting point is 00:17:18 tiny dark ones or something I mean that would explain it as if he had like like what you listen to and he's yeah there might not have been white AirPods pro But if they have those like darker ones there, sometimes that I can't tell a passenger has those dark earbuds in. And they'll start talking like we're in the middle of a conversation. I'll be like, I'm sorry, what? And then I realize they're on the phone. Yeah. Because it's not as obvious, right?
Starting point is 00:17:46 No, not as obvious. So it's bought in, and digital hype said in the chat, it's possible. I misheard him. Totally. Totally, totally possible. Yeah. But I swear to you, he's. had very enunciated style.
Starting point is 00:17:58 The Pet Shop Boys. And he didn't point to his ears or anything. If he had done that, I would have gone, oh, all right. It would have been like, okay, he's listening to the Pet Shop Boys. Yeah, because it's also not something, not usually, it's not the first thing you ask somebody from 30 yards away if you haven't seen them in a while. No. You don't say, taking out the trash, what are you listening to?
Starting point is 00:18:18 Yeah, what you got in your ears? Yeah. And also, part of me is like, I mean, he's only, I mean how it was okay so he's I think he's like 73 it also struck me as like if he is listening to the pet shop boys I went oh
Starting point is 00:18:35 well that's I don't know any other 70 plus year olds listen to the pet shop boys but then I thought well they would have been he would have been what 25 when the pet shop boys did things easily could have been a fan of the pet shop boys yeah well maybe 30 like 84 yeah that's like me saying I like I like Rooster from the dirt album from Allison Chains.
Starting point is 00:19:00 Yeah, I was 23 or 4. In theory, I'm listening to that when I'm 90. Just because, you know, we just think old people don't have, aren't cool at all. Yeah. They're kind of cool. They're cool. We're going to be cool. Oh, we're going to be way cool.
Starting point is 00:19:16 I mean, we're going to be way cool in our heads. It's going to be, you know, the kids like, you know, every time somebody gets in my car, especially somebody younger. I, you know, if I go, if I decide to Uber in the afternoon, and it sounds like I'm Ubering a lot, I'm really not. Like, it's down to about once or twice a week just because I'm so busy with other stuff. But I'll usually hop in the car about 3.3.3.3 somewhere on there. And 50% of the time, one of my first rides is picking up somebody from high school,
Starting point is 00:19:44 picking up a teenager from high school and taking them home. That always surprises me. It does. Come on, parents. How much is this costing you? A lot is the answer. A lot. Exactly. I think there's a thing with there's a generational thing from kids ages about 16 to about 25 where the pandemic broke them with deliveries and ease of access and bride sharing and all that shit. When it made the most sense, now it's just expensive more than it's ever been. And they just are hooked on it or something. Because Nick will do this. I'm like, oh, Nick. Or Nick's always like, I'm out of money. I can't afford it. I can't do this. Can't do that. and then two hours later i'm like oh who ordered freaking you know pizza at 1130 at night for 42 dollars right exactly so i think there's something wrong with their heads
Starting point is 00:20:34 yeah definitely something wrong with it but i'll be you know i'll basically have a station on my um apple music called it's the one that apple automatically generates for you just called brine bit station yeah and it's it's a mix of things that i've liked or searched for but also things, Pandoras, you know, and Spotify's and says, I think you'd also like this. So, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:58 I'm like about to pull them up and I'm like, oh, it's playing a lead Zeppelin song. Let me fast forward to something a little more modern. Ah, here we go. Green Day.
Starting point is 00:21:06 And then they get in the current, I'm thinking myself, yeah, Green Day, American Idiot, which came out 22 years ago. Yeah. You know, 10 years before they were born
Starting point is 00:21:15 or five years before they were born. Yeah, don't even look at Dukey. That came out like 34 years ago or something. Geez, yeah, no kidding. So, how about Chappell Rohn? Is Chapel Rhone considered new? What about B.B. Rexa? Can I play some B.B. Rexa for you?
Starting point is 00:21:32 Yeah, I got my, I use YouTube. Do you like the Selena Gomez? I listen to YouTube music, and it gave me a suggestion for something called Trans Am Radio. I'm like, what is this? Is that the most dad rock thing ever? Oh my gosh, dude, totally. And it's a mix, too. I thought it would just be 70 stuff, and it is.
Starting point is 00:21:51 There's a ton of like 80s, 90s, but it's all songs you would associate with a guy up their street that drives a trans Amstile. Is out there working on it? There's like a oily rag sitting on the hanging on the side of it while the hood is open while you're working on it. Yeah, kind of. And I'll tell you what. A metal blasting on the stair on the, uh, maybe it's because I was listening to Ghost and it was like, you know, because they're reminiscent of 80s metal in a weird way.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Um, they transcend it though. It's weird. I don't know how. That band is crazy. I really like it. It is crazy. And it's, it's, you look at the band. You look at photos of the band and say, oh, yeah, I don't think I'm going to like this.
Starting point is 00:22:27 And then you start playing, it's like, oh, this is not, this is not the band that it looked like it was going to be on the album. Oh, it's like, melodic and, like, really diverse. That song, that Mary on the Cross thing is really, really good. Yeah. It's like, I don't know. I love anybody. It's too bad Tobias is kind of a fruitcake sometimes, but. So he the lead dude?
Starting point is 00:22:47 Yeah, Tobias Forge. Father, what is it, Papa, Papa Emeritus. Yeah, I think is what he is now. I like his, I like, I like the look of it all. I'm into that. Like, that's all awesome. The stage presence is cool. The weird looking dark Pope upside out crosses.
Starting point is 00:23:02 The demonic Pope. Yeah, exactly. That stuff is cool. He seems like he might be a little bit of a nutter butter, though. Yeah. You know? He, um, very normal looking when he takes the makeup off.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Very normal looking when you take the, the makeup off. But there was, there's some, I remember talking, Hammond loves him too and he's seen them in concert a bunch of times. He made me, but I enjoyed it. Watch the concert film. Oh, apparently there's a new one too. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:28 The new one's of Mexico, I think. Is it the new one of Mexico? The one that's like part of the Skeletor? crap. I looked at, I saw, I played some tracks from it. Like a big rig or something. I know it's not it, but it's like some crazy, crazy crowd noise, man.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Not in a bad way, but like a really like, it's bigger than an arena. You could tell it's one of those outdoors. or like monstrous shows that just seas of humans he you know he he apparently is like like resets the band obviously resets the band all the time
Starting point is 00:24:02 but I think to the dismay of the performers who work with him like his musicians I think he's cleared out people oh really I can remember yeah I can remember that this is this is definitely going to be a a Hammond question but here's what I like about go Another thing I like about ghost. I like a lot of things about ghosts. But here's what I like about seeing Ghost in concert.
Starting point is 00:24:23 They make you put your phone away. Like your phone goes in a zipper bag that you keep, but he wants you to experience the show and not just be there to record it. Yeah, I like that. I think I prefer that when, I mean, I know that some bands encourage, like, I'll turn your lights on.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Everybody's doing whatever, but I'm way more like turn it off. enjoy this thing for real. There he is. I don't know if this is his most recent incarnation. I don't think it is. His face looks different. Doesn't he look more like Guido Sarducci right now?
Starting point is 00:24:57 Yeah, it's like more like a, whoops, that's not the right place. That's kind of like the classic. That's probably my favorite of the looks. Yes, the favorite era. Yeah. Yeah, I think it's that one you're hovering over right now. I think that's it. Yeah, this with the like little French Revolution suit.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Yes, exactly. Yeah. I mean, look, all I know is I couldn't. I like Monica. Oh, geez. Of course Brian likes that. Yeah. You know what?
Starting point is 00:25:25 Because when I want to go see a band, if I'm not sitting in the front row, here's what it looks like to me. A sea of phones all being held up over people's heads. You know why they're holding it up over their heads? Because they don't want to block their view of the concert. Yeah. I feel like I would feel this way if it has 15. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Yeah. It's not because we're old. It's because you're in the way. That's what it is. Exactly. You're holding that phone up above your head because you don't want it to block your view. Guess what it's doing? It's blocking my view. So if you're going to record it, totally fine. Keep your phone in front of you and don't hold it up above your head. Yeah, I agree. I agree. Someone else brought up Russian there and how big their concert is right now, 100,000 people down in Brazil. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:26:09 Yeah, I also listen. Their new drummer, Onica is killing. So good, yeah. I was listening to that last night and cranked it up. Ramona was over and she grabbed drumsticks. All on her own. She's two years old. She grabs these jumpsticks, comes in the room. And she, like, places plastic toys around in a, like a semi- Like a little circle kind of.
Starting point is 00:26:30 She's not, there's no video, by the way. We're just playing music out of my phone. And she just starts banging on this stuff with Neil Pert, like, or Purt. Like, you're just going with it. And I thought, wow. I think we may have a little red-headed, little fiery-ass girl drummer on her hands. That'd be awesome.
Starting point is 00:26:46 I know. I mean, you know, sad for mom and dad, but that would be awesome, awesome for her. I mean, Nick always wanted to do that, but he, he probably still could. He's very good, very rhythmic. And they're his sticks, in fact. He used to have a kid and all that. But she, she just taken to it. And she's counting, like she's going, really? That's great. It's not great yet, but she's like, two, one, one, two, three, one, five, one, two, one, two, one, like that. Do you still have your rock band gear for the video game? No. I sold it all like a dumb ass. There's a new one coming out, though.
Starting point is 00:27:21 The people that made the original rock band have a new game coming out. They invested in gamescom and it's called, oh. Or maybe it was an original guitar hero people. Or maybe they're all the same. But it's a new game with new instruments and everything. They're trying to bring it back. For the five and the current Xbox and stuff. They're trying to bring it back, man.
Starting point is 00:27:40 I lent all my stuff to Tristan. I hope he doesn't sell it. Because I, you know, I landed to him with the plan that, yeah, I want it back at some point. Depends on if the Audi needs work again. Right, exactly. Oh, he owes me big time. Yeah. I have to do Tina's Nissan Road here pretty soon.
Starting point is 00:27:58 I did a little look up and said, does she have those stupid wear sensors? No, she doesn't. But I think I might call Tristan over to say, you're coming over to help work on mom's breaks. It's your, it's your, this is how you pay me back for working on yours as you come back and help me. me work on moms. Yep. And then you're not done even then. Got to keep coming back.
Starting point is 00:28:17 Work on mom stuff forever. Exactly. And then come over and help me with mine. Shane Maddox, by the way, says, Brian's nightmare is someone holding their phone above their head, shouting loudly with their shoes off, and the wraith ads while loudly eating. It nailed it.
Starting point is 00:28:31 100%. Yeah. You've just described it. He's a Frankenstein of Brian kryptonite. It is the, that is the person that could push me to do something rash. And I, and I'm talking about, um, giving them the look.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Yeah. Not, not, not mowing them all down with a weapon or something like that. No, no, no, no,
Starting point is 00:28:48 I mean, come on. Who, this is me we're talking about. No, the Brian doing something rash is giving him this. That's pretty rash, man.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Yeah. Look at the rashness. You don't come back from that. Well, uh, thank you all. Uh, by the way,
Starting point is 00:29:03 that movie or that game, I guess, is called stage tour that's coming out. So cool. Watch for that. Uh, I don't know when it comes out. They announced it at gamescom.
Starting point is 00:29:12 I guess it'll be next year, if I had to guess. It's really cool. I wonder, yeah, what kind of improvements and... Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I think the hardest part about that business was always the licensing, and I don't know how that would change. I assume it won't change. That has to be the same.
Starting point is 00:29:29 It is all going to be about the... Oh, man, I wonder if you can use this with your old gear. Be great if you could. There was some talk that the USB ones would. Really? Okay. but there was some proprietary early stuff that won't okay i don't know if that's still true but uh or if you know this may be a thing that ships with the stuff and you just get it no matter what i don't
Starting point is 00:29:51 know yeah might be uh i definitely need to see a song list because that's the thing that makes or breaks if it's you know if it's all good charlotte and uh um panic at the disco i can't come up with like i like panic at disco i can't use that one as an example um but if it's all stuff that's newer than 20 and i I know neither of those bands I just mentioned are newer than 2021. But if it's all stuff that's newer than 2021, I'm going to be like, got any, you know, freedom rock on there? Got any, uh, I guarantee you.
Starting point is 00:30:22 Trans Am Rock. I guarantee they'll go old school. They have to, right? They have to have the classics. Yeah. You got to do, uh, I'm a cowboy. I want to steal horse. Because that song's in all those damn things.
Starting point is 00:30:34 It really is. Yeah. Yeah. Y'all want your jovie? Good news. It's coming. All right, guys. Uh, we have a chance now to, to learn a thing or two.
Starting point is 00:30:43 And how do we do that? Well, we do this. One of the things that I enjoy also is reading. Hey, it's time for us to read. And maybe we'll learn about some books we didn't know about before. And we'll do that with our friend Amy Robinson, aka Red Fraggle. Amy, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:31:01 Oh, hello, friend. How are you? Hello. Such a joy to talk to you. How are you feeling post-Dragon Con at this point? I am very tired. I'm sure. Yes, I'm very tired.
Starting point is 00:31:17 And also, I am happy to be back in podcast land where I'm allowed to take up space. Yeah. Yeah, right. Oh, you feel, is that one of the issues with the dragon cone? You didn't feel like you were? Okay. So I'm going to just say, I will say this. So I have on my new achievement shirt today because this year, Mark,
Starting point is 00:31:40 the first time that I directed a piece at the Dragon Con Puppetslam, which is the largest puppet slam in the world. We get like 2,000 people that line up two hours ahead of time in the Atlanta heat. They sit outside and wait two hours at midnight, you know, to see this puppet slam. But my idea was sort of, it wasn't like one piece. It was like lots of little interstitial pieces. So it was kind of like a running gag. And, yeah, the slam ran long because of technical issues.
Starting point is 00:32:21 And my piece, no one else's piece, my piece got cut. Boo! Who do we have to go beat up? I'm pissed about this. Nobody. Nobody needs beating up. But I just felt, like I said, I was like, I'm glad to go back to my podcast. where they're happy for me to take up space, you know,
Starting point is 00:32:43 and I don't feel like I have to earn my right to take up space. Nope. So because I feel like my, my, my, my piece was so funny and clever. Like, you know, as you guys know, Dungeon Crawler Carl, Carl, I have been on the Dungeon Carl or Carl bandwagon for a very long time. You're the first place I heard about it was you. I didn't even, yeah. And so, I mean, I wrecked it, you know, like years ago on this show, right?
Starting point is 00:33:10 Meaning recommended. I didn't like wreck it like wreck it Ralph. Like I can legit say that I, you know, I've, you know, hipstery like, oh, I knew them when. But yeah. But anyway, I mean, I feel like I'm kind of responsible for a lot of people learning about dungeon crawler Carl because I brought it to the show. So anyway, but it's having quite the moment right now. Like there were so many dungeon crawler Carl cosplays that. when they did the photo shoot at DragonCon,
Starting point is 00:33:43 they had to split them up into two groups because so many people were dressed up as Carl. Wow. And I have a theory about that, which is number one, obviously, DCC is having a huge moment, but also it's a really low-rent, low-effort cosplay. Right. Right?
Starting point is 00:34:02 I mean, it's... Crocs and heart boxers and knee pads, and you got it, right? Like, that's it. That's all you need. And so, you know, it's... A stuffed animal, a cat. Right.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Now, that's not to say that some people didn't put some very serious effort into their Carl cosplay. Because some people did. It was really, really impressive what some people did. But anyway, all of that said, this was the year. If we were going to do a DCC thing at the slam, this was the year to do it because it's when it's in the zeitgeist and we haven't missed the wave on it, right? And the hosts of the Dragon Khan Slam are the sci-fi janitors whose names are Bob and Carl. All right. So it writes itself.
Starting point is 00:34:50 Sure. So I wrote a piece where I had one of those, you know, you've seen the little inflatable dinosaur things and the ones where it's like the velociraptor that it looks like you're riding on it, you know. But your legs are really the velociraptor's legs. Yeah. Right, exactly, exactly. So I did a thing where I was in all black, like Czech black. You know, I had a hood and everything, and I'm on this dinosaur, and then my princess donut puppet. Crap, I meant to have that with me.
Starting point is 00:35:22 Chuck, bring me my donut puppet. Charles? Oh, get it. Ding, ding, ding, Charles, fetch me my donut puppet. Charles. That's so funny because the other obvious. for a book had a valet named Charles. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:35:41 I'll do that one next month. But anyway, so, right. So I had my donut puppet ear, and so it looks like donut is writing on Mongo, right? Oh, perfect. And so she comes in and she's looking for Carl, right? And she finds janitor Carl instead of dungeon crawler Carl. And like, you know, so, you know, and it was funny. And it was like, you know, it was a little play.
Starting point is 00:36:03 And then one of the interstitials, it was, you know, Mongo comes in. and eats janitor Carl because he's like the the the Bob and Carl puppets if you've never seen them they're like oven mitts basically they're you know Mr. Rogers style just hand puppets they use these like all the time on the DragonCon
Starting point is 00:36:21 TV that plays in the hotel rooms yeah that's where I've seen them yeah that's exactly where they came from and actually that's like sort of the the birth of the DragonCon puppetry track really okay them doing those those little pieces of the
Starting point is 00:36:37 sci-fi janitors. Yeah, exactly. So they are the hosts, right? I mean, they're literally like these little simple puppets, right? And so anyway, there's a port where Mongo comes in, eats Carl, and then barfs them back up, you know, and the system AI comes on and says, new achievement, you've been, you know, eaten and regurgitated by Mongo the Mongolians. You know, all that kind of stuff. And then the big finale was going to be Chuck dressed as Big Tina, which if you haven't gotten that far in the books. I've not gotten that far. Big Tina's, she's not a T-Rex, but she's, I think she's an allosaurus, but the T-Rex costume was what we were using for Big T-Tina.
Starting point is 00:37:18 But so Big T-Tina is a very large dinosaur who wants to dance, wants to be a ballet dancer. Okay. So she has a tutu and, you know, and a wand and feather boa. and Chuck was going to be Big Tina and he was going to come in and dance through the aisles to the thieving magpie so you know like the
Starting point is 00:37:45 dola do do do do Oh okay. All right you know and Chuck was so like he was so excited when I told him that that was how I'd written the piece he cried he was so excited to do this and that's
Starting point is 00:37:59 that's the piece that they cut and and we were so disappointed. Boom. Yeah. Yeah. And it was like, and in my opinion, not for very good reasons, but anyway,
Starting point is 00:38:15 I will just say, I will just say that. And it left me feeling, I had my feelings hurt and I was like, you know what, I'm going to go back to my podcasty people where they like me and, and I'm allowed to take up space. So here, here's donut.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Oh, look. I love it. Oh. that's awesome. I love the glasses. I love it. Carl, where are you? Damn it, Carl. So wait a minute. You made, you made that and didn't get to use it. Are you yelling, Carl? Oh, no, I got to use her. Okay, good. I got to use this.
Starting point is 00:38:45 I was going to be more mad. I was going to get on a plane. We're all going to Dragon Con headquarters. And I was, if I tell you, I was sewing this together, you know, hours before the slam. It was, yeah, like, she was a very, I mean, I had been working on her for weeks. But, and here's her tail. Yeah, for listeners only, it's not a simple puppet where it's hand in the head and you're done. It's like a whole body of the thing. Yeah. And I made her completely from scratch.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Like everything. I mean, I didn't make the sunglasses or the tiara or anything. Obviously, I bought those. But TV Strav says, can confirm I was there and saw Red Fragle sewing her. So yeah, so it wasn't all bad. It was, I really, really enjoyed my highlight. of the con was getting to be on, I was the substitute Amy on those were the days with Audie Norman and Travis and Stephen because Amy Frost couldn't be there in person.
Starting point is 00:39:45 So they needed somebody to step in and be their substitute Amy. They just wouldn't let her out of AQUO. She could not get her passport out of AQUO. Once you're in AQUO, you're never getting out. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, you can check out any time you like that. That's why, did J.F. Dubot come or no? I did not see JF.
Starting point is 00:40:06 See, he's also stuck in egg willow. He can't leave either. Yeah. I know how this works. Anyway. So, yeah. I mean, and there were good times to be had for sure. We actually launched, and I'm ill prepared this morning.
Starting point is 00:40:22 I'm sorry, I'm very tired. We also launched the new sparkly-eyed peepers, which are very, very fancy and beautiful. Which part of it is sparkly? Is it the iris of the iris? Yeah, cool. Okay. They're very, very pretty. And we sold out of a couple of the colors of them.
Starting point is 00:40:44 So that was really great. I have my Prince model right here. This is, you know, the Prince Purple Rain edition. Oh, yeah. There you go. Love that. I want everybody to have a pair of peepers handy. Like, that's my goal.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Always within reach. What's to deal with this? You got this R2 unit book thing. Tell me about this. So that was super cool. So as I've mentioned before, the puppetry track is in the Marriott, and it's like right past where the people who build droids and stuff go and hang out. And so someone this year had built a little free library into an R2D2 unit.
Starting point is 00:41:24 Oh, I love it. Which I thought was so. That looks 3D printed too. Yeah, it might be. Yeah, it probably was. Probably is. Yeah. Yeah, and I just thought that was such a brilliant idea because, you know, people who bring their kids, they do.
Starting point is 00:41:38 They come over and hang out by the droids and stuff. And I just thought that was such a brilliant idea. They chalk it full of, you know, kids' books and stuff. And it was just like little free library. Love that. He should put the STLs up online and let people print that or something. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm sure you can probably find them.
Starting point is 00:41:57 It's just, it's literally just like an R2 unit. You just got to keep it inside or else. print it with ABS or else that thing is going to be a puddle after a hot day in Atlanta. Yes. Yeah. Well, I mean, you know, again, yeah, it's indoors. And they even, they packed it away at night. Like, it wasn't there after dark, you know.
Starting point is 00:42:17 They would take it back to their room and stuff, which makes sense because, you know, the Hidlums in the Marriott. Well, it's plus people might be humping it in their, in their weird fetish costumes at 2 o'clock to the morning. There's plenty of that. Yes. So yeah, you know, I thought that was really, really cool. And then I also, I said to a video, this is such a random thing that I just thought it was cool because I've never seen this before. We were sitting there and we were waiting for somebody to come and let us in to the, because the door to the puppet track was locked and we didn't have the key. So we had to wait for the person who had the key to show up.
Starting point is 00:42:53 And we're sitting there and this dude who worked for the Marriott comes by. and let me know if you have that video. I don't have it. I'm looking. Did you send it to me in, um... I sent it to your text. Oh, okay. I was looking at Discord.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Hold on. But no problem. I just thought it was so weird and cool. And I'll post it later to the Discord and stuff. It was just so random. It has nothing to do with DragonCon. It was just such a random thing. I've never seen it.
Starting point is 00:43:18 It's like a carpet zamboni. Oh, weird. Oh, really? Yeah. Oh, I don't have it in there either, by the way. Nothing in your text. Oh, shoot. Well, I'll send it to you again.
Starting point is 00:43:28 I'll post it somewhere. That's really clever, though. They just walk along and it looks like a regular Zamboni on the, uh, it's, yeah, I mean, like, literally has nothing to do with Dragon Con. It's just like the Marriott guy was vacuuming the floor, but he's on like this, I can't think of anything else to call it. It's like a carpet zamboni. Yeah, carpet zamboni.
Starting point is 00:43:50 And, uh, so I just thought that was weird and cool. I want that. I'd rather have that than one of them rumbas. I'd rather ride around on a thing. Mm-hmm. Sure. Right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:59 I always said when I was a kid, I'm like, Dad, I'll mow the lawn way more if you can get me a rider mower. He never did. I would. Yeah. I would. Well, that's great. I like the ones, the mowers where they're actually like riding behind it, you know, those industrial. Oh, where they stand on them nowadays?
Starting point is 00:44:15 Where they stand, yeah. Yeah. Not like sitting and driving like a vehicle, but it's like they're behind it. It's a total, like, it looks like 70s sci-fi transportation where they're like on a hover, a hovercraft with the big distance. with the big disc in front, it just happens to be cutting the lawn while you're doing it. Yeah, chasing down Logan and Logan's run trying to stop him. Yes, exactly. Love it.
Starting point is 00:44:37 But yeah, and I said, you know, there were some clever costumes this year. One guy I saw was dressed up as Taco Bell lettuce, which I think was pretty hilarious. I didn't get a picture of him because I was across the building from him, so I couldn't, you know, but. Did he have kind of a see-through brown stain on the back of his pants or anything? Yep. Well, he was like, it was like, he was like, you know, from here down, it was like a package and it had like a Taco Bell logo on it and everything. You could see he was like, you know, it was just pack full of like little green things and every once in a while there was like some brown. But yeah, and it was labeled like lettuce, you know, and you almost got have like a t-shirt cannon of brown confetti behind you like every once in a while just like some.
Starting point is 00:45:22 And then the carpet zamboni guy would have something to clean up. would have something to clean up, right? Yeah. Oh, believe me, there's plenty. Follow behind the Taco Bell lettuce guy. Yeah. Plenty to clean up. The other thing that I saw was cool that I also didn't get a picture of because I follow directions. And while I'm on the sky bridge, I do not take pictures. Correct. Right.
Starting point is 00:45:41 But, you know, in the, in the, uh, the area, like the habit trail between the Hyatt and the Marriott, uh, traditionally, that's where you'd find the shrine of John, the FedEx guy. If you guys don't know, you can probably Google, there's a whole bunch of lore around the cult of the FedEx guy. Well, the FedEx people, they, you know, and just to give you the 3,000 foot view, they had like, you know, a full cardboard stand up, you know, with like a FedEx guy standing there. And it, of course, gets completely vandalized every year from the DragonCon people. And it starts with Googly eyes and goes from there. And, you know, as it does, right? But it was all in good fun. And I mean, how much can that cardboard stand-up thing cost FedEx, right?
Starting point is 00:46:33 Like, it can't possibly be that much. But, you know, they started packing it away and, you know, it became like this cult thing, almost like the Marriott carpet. Well, yes, that's exactly it. That's the guy. That's the guy. And it would become, by the, you know. By the end of DragonCon, it's a mess. Oh, I love the evolution, too.
Starting point is 00:46:58 This is great. So wait, is it still there? Are you saying they'd taken it? No, it's not there. It's not there anymore. He's got the king from Mr. Rogers neighborhood on his shoulder in that shot. Yep. It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:47:10 I know. It's, yeah. So it just gets more and more and more. And then, you know, so they only, they stopped putting it out. And you could see now, like, it's like they don't put it up anymore. No, but here's the shrine you can see. So people put up a shrine to it. Well, this year, instead of a shrine to John the FedEx guy,
Starting point is 00:47:30 there was a shrine to Dolly and Tin Curry and Hayden Panettiere, you know. Oh, that's cool. It was really, really great. I hope people were more respectful and didn't put googly eyes on Dolly where they shouldn't be. They did not. They did not. Well, I mean, you know, it was just a printed, you know, just. printed pieces of paper with their pictures on it. But like it was just great. It was it was charming to see that and I really enjoyed. It kind of gave me a big old smile every time I walked
Starting point is 00:48:02 by it, you know, because it was a, the picture of Tim Curry that they had was his like old headshot from when he was very young and had like very big curly hair, you know. And just the biggest smile you could ever think he'd ever have even, you know, after playing it and all that. like it's great. So, yeah, it just just made me very, very happy. You're tempting me to want to like shrine up Brian Dunaway here. There you go. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:32 Oh, yeah. That's the, from the, is Brian behind you? We had that as a film sack replacement one year. And then I still got Veronica, which is I promise I'm not creepy about it. She's just, you know, she's here. It was just there. Yeah. So, yeah, I mean, we could totally do that.
Starting point is 00:48:48 Like have another, you know, if we, if there is another nerdtacular, We can bring those guys out and make a shrine to them if they, you know, particularly Veronica, because if Veronica doesn't come, you know. Yeah. And she's so busy being a mom in Canada now. Yeah. You know, probably not going to see her very often. Probably not any hurry to come back to America. No.
Starting point is 00:49:09 No. She got out while she could. Well, let's get to your book today. We got a book. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:49:16 I have taken up enough space. Let's give some space to the book. So this is a book that, I saw the title on Audible, and I was intrigued and had to listen to it. So there you go. Here it is. Let's play the clip. Lydia is seven years old, and that's old enough to know to go play in the bedroom
Starting point is 00:49:36 when something electrical stops cooperating with her dad. He loves her and would never take it out on her. But the yelling and his big hand booming off that hollow cabinet like thunder makes her feel jangly inside. Besides, TV is boring. when Dad's home, it's better in her bedroom, because that's where her friends are. He feels bad she's alone so much, since he has to work all the time, and he's so tired that when he's home, he's not really home. He's so scared now, all the time, that she'll hurt herself again, or get sick, or something worse he doesn't want to tell her about. Dad doesn't like for her to
Starting point is 00:50:14 go outside when he's not home, and he doesn't want to go outside with her when he is home. But that's okay. Outside is boring. Oofampalo is always sunny, and the sun is bright pink, and the grass is yellow, and it tastes like licorice, the good kind. Her best friend in the world lives there, and his name is Jompey, this stupid rabbit. I've got a promise, Lydia says. It's a big one, so if you break it, you'll have to drink nothing but pee until you die. Lydia quietly waits while Jompy takes the appropriate amount of time to consider such a serious proposition with such dire consequences. You have to promise we'll be best friends to the very ends.
Starting point is 00:50:55 She tells Jompe when he finally agrees. Lydia holds one handout, pinky up. She does a very good job of pretending something shakes it. Oh, wow. So drink and pee. That's cool. I mean, if you're seven, go ahead, Brad. I was going to say, I was getting so distracted by the way she ends, every sentence.
Starting point is 00:51:20 with vocal fry. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, so... I like your voice, but... Part of it is you notice that more the way I edit it, you know, because I cut out a lot of the air. Oh, did you? Okay. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:35 So, because, you know, for time, I'm editing for time. Yeah, for sure. And, you know... And you know, now that I'm a professional audio book, I can... Yeah, you notice that stuff, don't you? You notice the stuff. Actually, I do only... Only because I cut out big parts of my own things.
Starting point is 00:51:50 where I realized, oh my God, I'm doing an entire paragraph where I'm ending, where I'm doing the same. So I get it. La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la. Yeah. Um, I have a non-zero number of people who have contacted me with curses because I have ruined all audiobooks for them because nobody else is Jeff Hayes. It's so true. No achievement. Yeah, he is... It's true. It's incredible. He's so like I've never never heard anybody with more versatility than No kidding.
Starting point is 00:52:26 Yeah. So yeah, very and that's also sad because he he and Matt Deniman were at DragonCon. I was not able to get in to see them because the crowds were so huge and the lines were so long that it was there was no way. It was impossible. So but that's okay because I got to meet Matt Deneman back when they put. him on a card table in the middle of the vendor hall. And there were only like 12 of us there. So I have, I have, I, you had some intimate time.
Starting point is 00:52:59 Let's, well, we won't call it intimate time. But you had some time more closer to one-on-one time with Matt Deniman than you would have gotten this year. Right. Yeah. Indeed. Yes. So, uh, the book is, uh, I will kill.
Starting point is 00:53:13 No, no. Don't be sorry. You know? I derail a little bit. All right. No, it's okay. But this book is called. will kill your imaginary friend for $200.
Starting point is 00:53:23 And it's by Robert Brockway. And the narrator is Sarah Molo Christensen. And it's a really charming book. And it's got this wonderful catharsis where you think back to where you were a kid. You know, if you ever had imaginary friends, I know I did. and it's just really, really interesting. So the premise there is that, you know, four kids with imaginary friends, they are real.
Starting point is 00:53:55 And I mean, they are certainly real to those children, right? But occasionally, something happens. And as this child grows up, they just never quite let go of that imaginary friend. And so they never quite sever that bond. And so these adults are going through life and their imaginary friends are kind of ruining their life because they're having them do stupid things like they would have a seven-year-old do, you know, and it's just messing everything up because they constantly have this presence. that won't leave them alone. So there's a guy named Ivan who, for whatever reason, he can see all the imaginary friends. And so he places ads on, you know, Craigslist and whatnot and says, you know, I'll kill your imaginary friend for $200.
Starting point is 00:55:03 And that, for whatever reason, that solves the problem and the imaginary friend goes away. And their lives are better. But he has a very strict rule that he never does that with children. Because children need their imaginary friends. If a child has an imaginary friend, there's a reason. And you could kind of hear in that clip where, you know, the little girl in that clip that we're talking about is, you know, her dad is kind of even when he's home, he's not home.
Starting point is 00:55:36 And she's alone a lot. And so she has hit her imaginary friend, Jompy the stupid. rabbit. And so, yeah, like, it's, it's a really, really interesting book. And like I said, it, it goes through, there's a lot of catharsis for when you were little and you had imaginary friends. But then also there's this element of fantasy in it where these creatures are real and want to remain real. And, you know, they, they sort of miss the boat where they could have faded away out of the child's life. And now they have to be killed in order to go away. So, yeah, it's interesting. It's really interesting. And one of them takes it too far. And this little girl starts, you know,
Starting point is 00:56:34 basically hallucinating and her mother is freaked out because her child is basically psychotic at this point but it's because she is being sucked into this imaginary world by her imaginary friend and so Ivan has to break his rule about no kids and um yeah it's uh it's good i i really like it was It does go places And it's It's it is not a book for kids I mean it's it's dark There are dark
Starting point is 00:57:09 There's language in it There's dark things in it There's you know It's not a four kids book But it is for your inner kid I'll say that And yeah I really I really enjoyed it
Starting point is 00:57:21 Thought it was it was fun A horror story Yeah I would say that It would kind of fit the bill of being a horror story. Because it's very creepy at times. One of the imaginary friends, he's got a little hook that he says every time he enters the scene. And, you know, when you hear that, you're like, oh, you know, it has, you have the same reaction as, you know, when you watch Friday the 13th and you hear that, you know, it gives you that same visceral reaction.
Starting point is 00:57:59 So yeah. It's cool. It's creepy. It's fun. Check it out. All right. It sounds good to me. I didn't get anything from Hootie about links or anything, but that's my fault because I did not send it to Hootie yet, but I will. You've had a lot going on for the last couple days. Totally fun. Dragon Con me. You were sick at the end of last week too, right? Yeah. Well, so I actually lost a day and a half of con time because I was. just and I wasn't like, I wasn't sick, sick. Like, I wasn't like contagious or anything like that. But my body just said no to all the stress and all the like overheating and all the stuff. And I, it forced me to sleep for a literally, literally a day and a half. Jeez.
Starting point is 00:58:50 So. Sounds kind of nice. Yeah. I know, right? It was, yeah. I don't know how I could manage it. It was actually pretty great. But, you know, I mean, like I said, I did miss out on something.
Starting point is 00:58:59 stuff but um you know and it was against my will it wasn't like i chose it uh but um yeah so i was i was uh i was not not at my not at my best well i'm glad you're home yeah but i will get it sent over to hoody and sure yeah it's uh it's called i will kill your imaginary friend for two hundred dollars it is available anywhere but we prefer you get it at the pumping cottage or through them uh so watch for that link we'll put it in the discord and uh make it part of the quick TMS.l.lI page as well. Amy, always a pleasure. Anything else you need to promote or mention before you go today?
Starting point is 00:59:38 Yeah, you know, we've got a new lost luggage. We'll be, should be coming out tomorrow. And yeah, so listen to lost luggage. It's good stuff. Yeah. You like Lost? Well, do you like luggage? It's the central preoccupation of my life.
Starting point is 00:59:56 Yeah. It's a deep cut for you. Anybody who gets that, it's, yeah. Yeah, I sort of get it. Well done. It's from Joe versus the Baltimore. Oh, that's why it was vaguely familiar. That's right.
Starting point is 01:00:09 Oh, it's the guy who sells him the steamer trunk. Yeah. Oh, I haven't seen that movie in so long. Amy, stay out of trouble. We'll see you next time and tell Chuck, thanks for grabbing your puppet. That's not a euphemism. Bye. All right.
Starting point is 01:00:24 Well, well done, well done, everybody. we are at the oh we're at the end again and I swear these emails are never going to get read I'm going to read one please I'm going to read this one from Hayes Skunk all right it's just going to happen
Starting point is 01:00:34 here comes this is about the jugs of pee he says hey guys there's just thinking about something Scott said a while back about Rick and Morty's episode titles being just being random movie references but I've been rewatching the series
Starting point is 01:00:45 and every single episode I've watched has been a reference to the main storyline in that episode so big trouble in Little Sanchez was where he cloned himself into tiny Rick meaning Rick did. The wedding Sanchezers Sanchezers
Starting point is 01:00:59 Squanchers, can't read. The wedding squanchers was Bird Person's wedding. I love that one. And Rick Shank Redemption was when he escaped from prison. Thanks for all you do. Yeah, I had that kind of wrong.
Starting point is 01:01:11 I thought all the titles were purely just take a movie, slap it on. Yeah, yeah. Whatever. But I guess they have some connection to the episodes, which makes sense.
Starting point is 01:01:20 Why wouldn't you have some sensible connection? Sure. Not everybody needs to do the wing ding album or whatever. That's right. Yes. Then we got a correction. Let's see. This is Herbie.
Starting point is 01:01:32 Not the love bug. It's just a guy named Herbie. Oh, darn. Okay. He says, well, actually, in TMS 3056, Scott said the Arkansas side of Texarkano was beautiful. And the Arkansas side, oh, he meant Texas. Yeah, I was going to say, he put Arkansas twice, didn't he? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:48 I don't know. Anyway, he said, was beautiful. And the Arkansas side was terrible shape. This may mean we still don't know. But anyway, it is the opposite. Also, Brian could remember the Arkansas newspaper or visit. It was most likely the Southwest Times record in Fort Smith or the Northwest Arkansas Times. We had both, actually.
Starting point is 01:02:05 We had, but it was the Southwest Times record is the one that I went to. But we also had Northwest Arkansas Times. It was part of a J-O.A. with Moline, Illinois and like a couple other newspapers, if I remember correctly, called the Quad Cities, I think. Something like that. Anyway, but yes. totally what's hilarious about this message though
Starting point is 01:02:27 and I didn't realize it until this now we still don't know the answer to which side was prettier because he said Arkansas twice right right I can't even infer from whatever whatever you're do you remember what you said and we just flip it I said Arkansas was nice and Texas was bad
Starting point is 01:02:44 okay so he's saying the other way yeah okay he's really throwing some shade at his Texas neighbors there All right. Well, whatever. You know, whatever. If there's further clarification needed, then he'll write in. Herbie will let us know.
Starting point is 01:02:59 Thanks, Herbie. We love your bug. Meep, me, me. All right, that's it for those emails. They are finally out of the way. I've been holding on those for days, so we don't have to worry about those anymore. If you'd like to send your own messages in the morning stream at gmail.com or you can use the website, frogpans.com slash TMS.
Starting point is 01:03:14 There is no. I said yesterday to be a Monday show today at one. I forgot Carter is in her. She's interning for this place and they have her in the office all day today. She won't be here till tomorrow. So once again, two weeks in a row now, the Monday show will be on a Wednesday. So that'll be tomorrow. But today at 1 p.m., I'm playing this game that was given to me by Adobe geek in our community forever ago called Choochoo Charles.
Starting point is 01:03:38 It's some kind of horror game about a scary train. Oh, really? Yeah, I don't know anything about it, except I'm going to try to play it at one. Do good and plenlies make it run? I don't know. Probably the blood of its enemies is probably what makes it run. What time are you doing that? because I got to do some dispatch today
Starting point is 01:03:55 and I don't want to overlap. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. We should, I should think about this before I put the numbers up. I have it currently scheduled at 1 p.m. So what are your plans? I can move around. I'll do, I'll do,
Starting point is 01:04:05 um, uh, I'll do dispatch right after years. How about that? Okay. So ping me, ping me when you're getting ready to end and I'll start my stream and we can just keep,
Starting point is 01:04:15 keep the game train rolling. Sounds good to me. People are going to be so mad because I forgot to record chapter four and my Twitch is not set to save VODs. So that's, if you saw it live, you saw it live. So yours doesn't even keep the temporary non-published version? No, it's set to do it now because I was like, all right, well, that's all right.
Starting point is 01:04:35 I forgot to record, but I'll just go into Twitch and download it. And then I said, yes, to do that, you go into this thing. Oh, but if it's not, if your videos list is empty, that means you don't have it set to record. I'm like, oh, crap. I had that feature turned off because of the music stuff. It's like, well, I keep, why do any space? Yeah, no, good point.
Starting point is 01:04:53 That sucks. But, and it's also the episode with all the sexy bits at the beginning. It is. It's, you know, whatever Invisigirl is doing. Mm-hmm. I think I know. Oh, I think you do. Yeah, I'll say this.
Starting point is 01:05:06 Some of the pixelation on Invisigirl, really not hiding much. Nope. No. The censoring is very light. It is. It's very light. It's just weird. And we discovered also that they bleep the word ariola.
Starting point is 01:05:19 Oh, really? Which is, it's a medical term. Come on now. Yeah. I'll use that word medically. My ariola itches. See? Right, exactly.
Starting point is 01:05:29 My right ariola is bleeding. Exactly, yes. These are true sentences that I'm making. So, anyway. I'll shoot for dispatch right around 2.30 or something. That's perfect. That's about all I need. So that's great.
Starting point is 01:05:42 Probably a little, I may only do it an hour, so we'll see how it goes. All right. Sounds good. Anyway, that'll be today. 1 p.m. and then Brian right after that. So check that out. If you're looking for more Frog Pants Schedule stuff, find it at frogpants.com. schedule, we should play a song, and exit the building.
Starting point is 01:05:58 That's right. Oh, I was going to say, today's the Apple thing, but no, that's tomorrow, isn't a, tomorrow, yeah. I think so. There was a Zelda direct this morning. I didn't see it. Yeah. Oh, my God. There's a new, so they're working on a ocarina of time. Remake, yeah, I knew about that. That we knew about that. Graphics look excellent. Yeah, it looks really cool. They showed us this. I guess they showed real gameplay this. time right because the other thing they showed real gameplay yeah and it's and and i'm i was like oh i don't need to play that game again and now that i see it i'm like no i'm gonna need to buy this it's it's it's gorgeous it's such a great game too it's yeah freaking all-timer um was that all it was
Starting point is 01:06:38 that they did they do anything at the movie did anyone know they showed me talked about the movie it was great they said first thing and they have the you know him speaking japanese but them covering it up with with English, but basically saying the first thing we're going to tell you about today is the new Legend of Zelda movie. And we can finally tell you the name is called The Legend of Zelda.
Starting point is 01:07:04 Wow, that was the news? That was the news. And it says, you're probably wondering why there's not a subtitle on it. And it will become clear when you watch the movie. I'm sure it's like, it's kind of clear now. It's the legend of Zelda. It's the first one.
Starting point is 01:07:19 It doesn't need a subtitle, I guess. Yeah. Yeah. Duh. It's just really funny, but it's so bizarre. I am legitimately excited about this, though. They talked about the orchestra. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:33 Yeah, that's the graphics from the new one. It looks so good. Yeah, it looks really tight. So that makes sense. I mean, it's a very stylized game to begin with. The hardware is certainly capable. Like, this is a fine idea. This is going to sell like hotcakes.
Starting point is 01:07:46 It's going to be real. Yep. It got me in the Deku Nuts is what it did. So I'll be picking that one up. Sweet. All right. You ready for a song? Yeah, let's play a song. All right.
Starting point is 01:07:55 Let's do it. Jana Pride wrote in. Our friend, Jana, said, hey, friends, Jana Pride here. After a decade of rebuilding a career from nearly nothing, I'm finding myself in the unemployment line again, once again. Unemployment line once again. My company informed me this week that my position is being eliminated due to budget cuts.
Starting point is 01:08:15 My strong thoughts about a company. who posted $1.7 billion in profits last year, saying that they have to reduce workforce aside, it is what it is, and I'm not doing well. The last time I was going through stuff, I heard Brian play a song from the Pickin'on collection, and it really hit me, hoping for some more musical inspiration. Thanks for all you do, guys. You're a constant for many of us who struggle to find stability in this world sign Jaina. P.S.
Starting point is 01:08:41 if there are any tadpullers aware of openings for a kickass systems analyst or IT project manager please let me know i'm in discord as jana pride that's j a i n a pride pry d e excellent please do because she's she's awesome so um reach out to her if you know someone uh or or something yeah so this is this is cool this is something that i've been wanting to play on the show for a while and so I'm kind of glad you're giving me the opportunity to do this. There is a band called The Court of Versailles. Let me find my notes about this.
Starting point is 01:09:19 Here it is right here. Full album that came out. Let's see. John Hopkins, the court of Versailles is a jazz piano trio. Joel Pearson on piano, Sam Minali, an upright bass, and John Hadfield on drums.
Starting point is 01:09:36 and it's electronica music done with piano, upright bass, and drums. So think Dead Mouse, Scrillix, Tycho, John Hopkins, Fred again. It's really, really cool. This is such an awesome thing. The track I'm playing, and I apologize that it's a seven-minute one, but it's uplifting. And I guess, you know, it's at the end of the song show. So you can cut out at any point you want to, but you're not going to want to. This is the Underworld tracks Res Cowgirl two months off done by The Court at Versailles from a brand new album.
Starting point is 01:10:16 It's analog E.D.M. I core, just like he says. And here it is right now.
