They say when the wind blows north, all birds fart at the same time.
Pretty sure they are lying about that.
Anyway, support TMS today at patreon.com slash TMS.
That's a bird fart.
Coming up on the morning stream, POPAT night.
Show me, but doctor.
Snake toes McGee.
Old man spice.
Speed buggy do.
Where are you?
Your boobies of Panera.
George Foreman mammogram.
Colonoscopist.
Do you even Uber lift, bro?
Lightbox education continues.
And a Captain Caveman.
Dentists, we don't hate you.
Somebody always hates the president.
Can AIs think because I like really wanted to know?
Faking the Turing test with Tom Merritt and more on this episode of the morning stream.
When I was a kid, the closest you could get me to a fish was the aquarium.
Quality you can taste.
morning stream. They won't
leave me alone. I'm a goddamn
human pina.
Hello everybody and welcome to TMS.
This is the morning stream. That's
TMS is short for that. You know.
Oh. Oh, I never made that connection.
Interesting. Yeah. Acronym not an initial. No,
wait, it is an initialism. It's an initialism.
Yeah, because you can't, you don't pronounce
ms. Yeah. I feel like every couple
years we have to remind ourselves how.
I have to remind myself how those did this work.
Let's be clear.
Brian has no problem distinguishing between the two.
For whatever reason, I bring it up a lot.
Anyway, welcome to it.
I'm Scott Johnson.
That's Brian Ibitt.
Hi, Brian.
Hello, yellow.
Good morning, sir.
We're going to do a show, you know.
Why not?
We're here.
It's freaking Wednesday.
It's also a good reminder.
I need to check.
So we did Jeopardy last night.
Or did trivia last night, but it's the Jeopardy Bar League where we almost sounds like I'm going to say
Bar League.
Jeopardy Bar League.
where we're competing against a bunch of other teams.
I'm curious if they've got our scores in from last night added to the standings.
Does not look like they do.
How'd you do, do you think?
We won.
Oh, good.
Yeah, we beat the second place team by about 40,000 points.
That's a lot, isn't it?
It is a lot.
And here's what we found out is that this Jeopardy Barley,
so this is the second edition of this league.
first edition
when you
played if you got first
place you got three points
but if you played and didn't get
first place you got one point
and then if there was a tie
like if there were a lot of people with
you know who would want every game and
had three points across the board then they start
looking at scores like how much
you made
in total over the course
of the game and that's how we played
the first two games we thought all right as long
as we win, that's important. It's not, you know, we don't need to, to spike the ball and get
massive amounts of points. No. No. Second league, second bar league is not about winning. It is
all about the points. You can lose and still have enough points to, uh, to still top the league
if you've won other nights, which is kind of cool. It makes it so that if you have a bad night and
you don't you don't win but you still get a lot of points um then you uh you still have a chance
of winning the the full league and so we now we're like we're going all in on every daily double
because that ensures points right is the idea because that ensures points as long as we get the
question right otherwise it ensures zero that's the other that's what it ensures if we're not if we
don't go um and then going all in on final jeopardy so our final score last night
with a question.
To honor its holiest fan, this MLB team hosted Pope Hat Night on August 11th, 2026.
See if I can even guess this.
Pope Hat Night this year.
Pope Hat Night to honor its holiest fan.
Oh, probably the, you said MLB, so Chicago Cubs.
That is incorrect.
It's the other Chicago team, the White Sox.
Damn it.
Yeah.
I thought he was a Cubs fan.
No, he's a White Sox fan.
So we doubled our 160,000 points to get 320 and then won the evening.
The team that's currently leading the league is a team called Snoochie Boochies.
And they have 715,200 points for the first two weeks.
We have 368,8,850 points here.
I'll give you a link if you want to show this.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Take a look.
I'm into it.
I should probably open Discord.
There we go.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
That's where I'll put it.
There it is.
There you go.
That's right.
Snoochy-bochies.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
10 grand in prizes, man.
That's right.
Really, they've upped it to 30 grand, I think, this time around.
They just haven't updated that.
But so national snoochy boochies is in second place behind a team from Marysville, Ohio.
If you scroll down nationally, we're at like.
Like, what,
way too far, way too far.
We are, there it is right there.
Team 10 in the four-mother question.
There it is.
Because we have to work the word mothra and everything.
So instead of saying in the form of a question,
we go in the four-mothra question.
Yeah, it would sound like you're saying it wrong
if you didn't know any better.
Like it just sounds like you messed up.
But if you go to, if you scroll back up to the top
and choose just the Denver market,
then we're
third place.
Nice.
And we got another
320,000 last night.
So we're still,
even if they got
Snoochie-Bucci's,
even if they got zero last night,
we're still behind them.
But we're ahead of,
I wonder if we're ahead of the nomads.
No,
we'd be just behind the nomads.
Yeah,
no-mads are 380,000.
Right ahead of you.
Or 680,000.
Special shout out to
6th ranked to Colorado team,
Snake Toes-Magee.
I like that name.
Fantastic name
That is a great name
Yeah
There's some really good ones in here
Hit it and quidditch
It's pretty good
Yeah
Turnip for what
It's good
Wings Wild Buffalo is weird
Because that's just so on the nose
You're at the Buffalo Wild Wings
Exactly
It's just the name backwards
And it's like they didn't even try
Yeah
I don't like
But those scores
I mean it's like they just showed up
And decided to play
It wasn't like they're really going
For the
Uh
Going for the monies
Well nice
Look at you guys
climbing them ranks like per yuge.
Yeah, let's hope.
Let's hope we can take first and get some dough in our wallets.
Yeah, nothing wrong with that.
I want to celebrate something today on 9-9 of the year, 26.
9-9 of, let me find this thing real quick.
What was that called?
That was not, oh, I don't have it here, do I?
Never mind.
I won't be playing that.
Anyway, happy Dreamcast Day to everybody who celebrates.
You don't have a C-Man sound clip that we can use?
No, I was hoping to have...
I thought I just had the intro noise that the Dreamcast made.
I believe it's time for you to give me some food.
Let me...
Oh, I know it'll do.
Here we go.
We'll just play this.
Nice.
There you go.
One of the greatest consoles ever, Sega's Final Hurrah.
It was really good.
9-999.
So when that came out.
It was an amazing date to have for your release day.
Perfect date.
It's almost like you just say, let's delay here, just so we can land it on $99, $9,99.
Yeah, and they don't do that enough anymore.
Like, the last big one I can think of was Skyrim was 11, 11, 2011.
Oh, really?
Okay.
Other than that, like, they used to do things like Mortal Monday was the Mortal Kombat
Release Day.
Well, it's also kind of difficult when you don't have month number 26.
Well, that's true.
You can't do 26, 26, 26.
Yeah, that is true.
You have to really strike while the iron.
hot, but
there was a pretty good one.
What was this?
A couple of years ago when
Starfield,
yeah,
Starfield was supposed to release.
And they ended up delaying it,
but the date was amazing.
It was like,
oh,
what was it?
Like 12, 12, 22 or something like,
it's all the twos.
All the twos.
And then they skipped it
because they're buttholes.
And QSTAR's right.
Valheim 1.0 is today.
So what do we call that?
Today's Wednesday.
So it's Valheim.
It's Wenzheim.
Nope, it's Val's Day.
Nope, it's...
Wenzheim.
Wensheim.
Nailed it.
Yeah, there you go.
So anyway, congratulations on not succeeding Sega and having Sony eat your lunch back in 9 of 9 of 99.
Favorite, favorite Dreamcast game?
Do you have one?
Yes.
Is it your Choo Choo Choo Choo Rocket?
I love Choo Choo Choo Rocket.
I did too, actually.
Not going to lie, I love Choo Choo Choo Rocket.
I love the, there was a racing game with all of it.
of the like Penelope Pit Stop and
snagglepus
what the heck was that thing called
I don't know oh the wacky racers those guys wacky
wacky racers yeah yeah that that game I
freaking loved because it was cell shaded but it was still
and it was a you know it was a mutley thank you TV's Travis
I hated that guy but yes he was in it
I think for me it was probably a toss-up between
Soul Calibur and
this sounds boring but I played a lot
of Virtua Tennis.
That game was great.
Yeah, nothing wrong with that at all.
Jet Set Radio, Res.
Jet set radio was great.
Yeah.
Another really cool 3D but cell shaded
style on that.
Oh, Code Veronica was real good.
Yeah, there are a lot of, I have a lot of font.
Power Stone was good.
Sonic Adventure was all right.
I had some problems.
Shen Mu I never really got.
I didn't understand.
it was so boring to me, but it's an important game in his gaming history.
But Dreamcast, catch it.
It's available now.
Go, go pick one up at your local game stop.
Go grab it.
For way more than you should pay for it.
Oh, yeah, Captain Caveman was in that too and that wacky races.
Yep.
Yeah.
He had his own cartoon too, right?
He did, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Captain Caveman.
It was him and like a bunch of teens, a bunch of hot teenagers.
Where was Speedbuggy?
Was that its own thing, or was he also?
was its own thing too and that was like
yeah exactly
yeah and it was
it was like
every archetype from scooby-doo
was replaced
it had a version on speed buggy
it was like your your fred
had a there was a fred equivalent
and a deafany equivalent
and yeah speed buggy was basically scobey
you know i want to say there was even
didn't kC case him do a voice on speed buggy too or no
oh he might have he did all he was so much all up in that
era he might have been yeah
I don't know.
But yeah, look, look back on 99 with fondness, everybody.
It was a good time.
Good year.
You got the Matrix that year.
You got the Dreamcast.
What other cool thing happened in 99?
We had, we had Y2K freak out.
That was fun.
That's right.
Yeah.
Yeah, that was fun.
That was really dumb is what it was.
It was really dumb.
But, I mean, you know, there were, it was us getting worried about it that did fix
some problems before they came up.
I mean, the fact that, you know, there were some computer systems that would have had problems when the clock rolled over.
But it was nothing like, oh, my God, the power is going to go out and it's going to be mayhem and blah, blah, blah.
No, it was just the fact that people said, oh, yeah, good thing we're bringing this up because our thing will flip over to zero and cause some sorting problems if we don't turn it into a four-digit code.
Yeah, but everyone loves a good apocalypse.
So they just...
They do.
So they just glummed on to it like it was going to be...
Yeah.
It was dumb.
But I kept going. You guys, it's no big deal. Go change these three digits. It's not a big deal.
We don't even have that much stuff. It's that much. Yeah, but you know, we're hearing things like bribbra. I'm like, no, no. And the next day, they were all like calling me. Because we were, I was kind of in charge of IT there. And they would call me and go.
So, so it's everything. Is everything okay? This is free. I'm like, it's two in the morning. Why are you calling me this early?
Right. We got to make sure all the systems are right. Or other systems. Yes, they're fine. Like I told you. They were fine. They were fine before. They're fine now.
You weirdos.
Hey, have a look here.
Here's a, I'm going to put in on our thing as well, our Discord.
But here's the speed buggy crew.
Oh, yeah.
They're all there.
The wheelie, a bunch.
Tinker is shaggy.
Tinker has got to be Shaggy's brother from another mother.
100%.
Yeah, we're just missing the girl that loses her glasses.
It's just, there's no Velma.
No, Vlma.
But Tinker, Debbie, and Mark, freaking Mark.
Just brunette, Fred.
It really is.
Instead of wearing an ascot, he's got this like
stripy Nehru jacket.
Yeah.
Yeah, they were really, they were mine in the...
They weren't working all that hard back to.
No, they really weren't.
Well, Hannah and Barbera, you did it.
Good job, guys.
Gosh, speed buggy.
I guess we're going to go check out the abandoned amusement park.
The car didn't eat anything that made it high or anything.
Right, it was like buggy snacks or something, right?
It was just like, you know.
So dumb.
1040 weight motor oil or something.
I love it.
Well, guys, listen, we got some good news for you.
Yeah.
We got a guy coming on that you know, that you like, you enjoy.
You might even love him.
I love him.
I love them.
I love them.
I love him too.
And a very manly love kind of way.
Sure.
Sure.
And we're going to bring him in.
A very appropriate way.
Yeah, yeah.
And we're going to bring him in like a real man.
This jaunty music behind it.
Hey, everybody. Welcome to another edition of Tad Pooley Feud.
And joining us is Brian Dunaway like he always does on Friday or Wednesday, whatever day it is.
Hi, hello.
Oh, hi, Scott and Brian.
Hey, man. Hey, man. What's going on?
Are you smelling burning toast?
It feels like it some days.
It doesn't feel like Wednesday.
You smell the burning toast that the rock is cooking?
I could smell.
There was a guy at the gym who I could smell.
Now, he did not smell bad.
He smelled like kind of aqua velvet, like old school cologne after shabby.
But he was like.
70 something. There's always these old guys in the morning.
I was you up on him. I was not up on him, but I was next to him. And his hair, he had this like loose,
Hulk Hogan-ish, more like Dauber from coach hair. Remember Dauber?
Yeah, he had that. Yeah, he was rocking it. And it would like move with his, he did move his head and the
hair would like shift around like a chandelier. It was great. Oh, Jesus. Yeah, super fun. Super fun.
Anyway.
He said the worst. Yeah, well, the worst and the best at all at the same time.
says the guy with no hair.
Hey, look.
I shaved it off so the people wouldn't say, boy, Brian has the worst hair deal.
I like Brian's look.
Now he has no-do.
Yeah.
Is it a no-do?
No-do hair-dew.
It's a no-do.
Hey, I don't know if you heard it done away, but we were talking earlier about how
Speed buggy is basically just lifted right out of Scooby-Doo.
Scooby-Doo?
Yep.
Speed buggy.
Yeah.
It's the same, right?
It's the same damn cartoon.
One's a car, one's a dog.
It's Scooby-Doo, but they figured out a way.
to eliminate the redundancy of Velma.
We need somebody who loses their glasses constantly.
Nah, let's skip it this time.
Yeah, we don't want to pay the fourth person to do V-O work.
Well, anyway, you're here.
That means a game.
We're going to play a game.
Brian Dunaway is here.
I meant to say, Brian, Dibbitt will explain the game.
It's Friday.
And I will stop talking.
Brian, take it away.
And when, Magis, you're not wrong.
I actually have a, no, Velma is hot.
And I've got some people who created 3D models.
of Velma that I feel I'd feel creepy about printing.
Anyway, it's time to play the tadpoole feud.
I've surveyed the tadpull on some nerdy topics.
Scott Bryan, you have to predict the answers that they gave us.
It's their job to see how many of those answers they can guess.
At the end of the game, we're going to add up all the points,
and the winner will actually be winning prizes for their listener,
contestant, listen, you repeat this thing week after week.
You've got to inject something else into it.
Now it's time to sound like a hillbilly.
Exactly.
Listen, I would not do well as a rock star who has to sing the same dang one-hit wonder every time they appear in Branson.
I love it when they get bitter about it too because we're just there for to hear the song and we're like, yeah, play the song.
And then you're like, here's that dumb-ass song again.
You're like, oh, yeah, I guess it sucks for you.
Cool, cool, cool, correct.
People sing it.
People screaming for Freebird.
You know they hate playing Freebird.
You just know who embraces it?
Tone Loke.
He begins and ends his concert with Funky Cold Madee.
He plays it twice.
That's how it should be.
Not Wild Thing, but Funky Cold Medina.
He probably does Wild Thing twice as well.
I like that song.
It's like, let's play it again just for the people who might have came in late.
I know where my bread is buttered.
That's right.
Anyway, hey, our support is on Patreon at patreon.com slash TMS.
Scott, you're going to be playing for Jana Pride.
Yeah, we just talked about her yesterday.
She did a request at the end of the show.
We certainly did.
Did you like that request?
by the way? Yeah, it was really good. I went and checked it out
later. It was fantastic.
Very good set.
And, uh, uh,
whoops, I changed pages because I forgot to get, uh, prizes in here.
Brian, you're playing for Jacob Grant.
Oh, Jacob Grant. Very good. Yes.
Jacob in some, uh, yeah.
Yeah. Jacob.
All right. Uh, all right. Uh, have you guys finally logged into the game here?
Uh, do, do, do, do, do, do, there you is.
Oh, joy.
You see it.
Yep. I see it a day.
Listen. When.
We started playing the Brian Dunaway music.
I noticed nobody had logged in yet.
So I was like, oh, do I have the right page open today?
And I do.
All right.
If you guys are ready, go ahead and put your hands on your buzzards and give me your answer to this.
We ask 455 tadpoolers.
What is the most hated profession?
Scott.
I wasn't sure I was going to give it to me.
Dentistry.
Dentist.
Show me dentist.
Brian, four answers will beat it.
What is the most hated?
Yeah.
But?
Yeah.
Is that your answer?
But?
Like, who hates it?
Like, hated by their customers or or the, there we go.
There we go.
Hated by others, not by themselves.
I got you.
All right.
All right.
Did you call it a job?
profession.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Profession.
Then we got to go.
Everybody hates the politics.
So yeah.
It's probably a political, any political position.
Show me politics.
Politician number two.
Yes.
That gives you control of the board.
Let's not clarify.
Let's state for the record that we don't hate any people who do these jobs because they're people, except we might hate some people.
But if you're a listener and you happen to be a dentist, and I know of one very specific one that listens, we don't hate you.
No, we think you do a valuable service.
I thought you're apologized to the politician.
You're apologized to a dentist.
Oh, I got you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
To dentist, yes.
And there's other, there's other ones in here that's like, yeah, you know, sometimes you, you, you know, you get a job that maybe other people don't like.
It's a dirty job.
Someone's got to do it, right?
Exactly.
But there might also, there might also be some in here that's like, no, you deserve some hatred.
Dirty your, hey, so here's what most politicians are to be.
begin with, is it
a lawyer?
Wow.
Show me lawyer.
Number one answer on the board.
That felt too stereotype to me. I guess
it's still a number. Yeah.
It's still, uh, you know,
you see those commercials on TV
still. Did you get
injured in an accident that was not
your fault?
Buh. Call me today.
Those guys, they have such a lock on the billboard market, man.
They've got billboard.
Every city you go to, 400 billboards are donated to some law firm.
Yeah.
You guys have like all the people around here, they seem to somehow secure the phone numbers, like, just dial all threes or, hey, just dial all nine.
We've got dude here in Colorado, the strong arm, can't remember his actual, whatever his name is.
but he says dial 3 million dial 303 3 million oh no
that guy
towards the comma
some old lady's gonna do it too
totally she's gonna go
Frank Gazar that's it Frank Gazar the strong arm
Yeah I don't like there you go
No no it's
It's horrible
It's terrible
Keep you coming Brian
They've kind of outsourced the job for this
with the robocalls,
but it's usually a telemarketer
on the other end.
And I can't stand those guys.
Sorry, I hate you so much.
It's a good one.
Hi, are you eating dinner right now?
Oh, can I call back when you are?
Show me telemarketer.
Number nine.
Big points.
Big points.
It's lower than I thought it would have been.
Interesting.
I think it's less.
There's spam calls now,
but they're mostly texts and, you know.
Yeah.
Plus, our phones catch a lot more of them now than they used to.
Yeah.
Like, we're getting some quality of life things that you still call too often.
Also, you can have a telemarketing, you know, a place that only needs five people instead of 100 people because it does the call.
Waits for exactly.
If you answer, then it routes.
And then it's like, this like pick up, hi.
Yeah, no, they've gotten sneaky with their little tactics, man.
They have, yes.
Like the 80s when they had to call you at home on a rotary phone.
I did that for I did that for one summer it was the worst job I also had a telemarketing job for a summer and I hated it yeah yeah hated it we sold magazines I wanted to kill everybody and myself yeah that's fun what kind of magazines it was everything just whatever good homes and gardens and all the bullshit it was the worst job I hated it
oh and when they're reading then I got something for you and I live in pretty pictures and smelling glossy paper yeah the boss would always come over and just hang
behind you and listen to how you how you battled their objections.
Yeah, really.
Brian, I don't think you're trying hard enough, Brian.
I think you need to try harder.
I am going to the titty bar.
I'll be back later.
See?
Let me know how it goes.
Do you see my chest there?
Do you think I get this chest there by giving up too easy?
The stereotype types are true, man.
They're true.
That's right.
All right, all right.
Keep it going, Brian.
You're doing great.
Pick and ass.
I've got one that I want to say, because it's
jockey and it feels like something the tadpool will say but i think i'm going to stick with not something
that i hate but i know there's a lot of hate for this because i see the counterpoint all the time
on little yard signs that say we back the blue and so that means that people are very mad about
the pleases oh i see i love how you tiptoed around that that's fantastic very well done yeah yeah
it's you know it's you probably just saved yourself getting a speeding ticket on the way home to
Yeah, well, they're all listening.
Show me police officer.
Yeah.
Yeah, number six.
That makes sense.
18 points for Brian currently, five for Scott.
Yeah.
We have a couple of cop listeners who we really like, and this is not about them.
They're very nice people.
Absolutely, yeah.
Well, nobody wants to see a police officer in the context of they're coming to talk to you.
It's like, exactly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But when you got a problem, it's like, hey.
Yeah.
I had a cop come up and talk to me in a parking lot here in Arvada once, and he just said, hey, just wanted to tell you, I'm a big fan of Boingo, Boingo, too.
Yeah.
That's great.
He saw this sticker on the back of my car.
I'm like, oh, thanks.
I love that.
Yeah.
Yep.
Yep.
That's good.
All right.
All right.
Five answers still on the board, Brian, and our elusive 11.
You know who I hate?
What do you hate?
I don't know how he told him.
I feel like.
People hate the doctor for all the wrong reasons.
I think they hate going to see the doctor.
They hate the doctor.
You know what?
I'm going to take it back.
I'm going to say, instead I'm going to point that.
Don't hate the doctor.
Hate the game.
I'm going to turn it around.
I feel like the tadpool will never pull the punches and they will say hotcaster.
I think podcaster is one of the most hated professions.
I hate those guys.
Well, let's see how this lands.
Present company included.
show me podcaster
Oh, they didn't get you
No, one person did have the joke and put podcaster
But it was only one like I've got to surprise it wasn't more
Yeah, all right
Interesting
I'm gonna go with
I'm gonna do
I'm gonna assume that it's in addition to number six
And say ice agent is on here
Well, sure
It is a little bit separate of a police officer
A profession is vanilla ice a profession?
No, because at least he would say stop
collaborate and listen.
Yeah.
Without just pulling his gun and
his shaming. Stop your brown. Come with me.
Exactly. Yes.
Show me. Ice agent.
Number three.
That's the only problem of that one is
we know it would be high
and the points are lower. Yeah. That's good.
I didn't think about ice agent. That's
a good one. I should, yeah, duh.
Well, let's stay within a
I'll stay within a semi-unscrupulous
zone and say
say the TSA agents.
I think they're horrendous.
good. Can't stand them.
Every time I have to get my cavity checked,
my body cavity checked.
Come on.
Is there a label on my item in the spreadsheet?
Anyway, show me TSA agent.
Oh, really?
Yeah, I know.
It's surprising.
TSA agents were number 25.
Interesting.
Lower than I thought.
Yeah.
Interesting.
Maybe we feel bad for them.
Probably.
Maybe.
Sometimes I don't, though.
I'll tell you that.
You know, I think we hate them less than we used to.
I think that now that there are things like Clear and TSA pre-check
where a lot of people just kind of not have to take off their shoes
or remove their belt or things like that.
Now that they've monetized it and made us feel like it was never worth it in the first place.
Right.
Yeah, good point.
Now we hate the money, not the people.
Right.
Right. Plus not to mention, not to mention we all have experienced, we've all seen the crap they have to put up with, right? We're all in line. Yeah. So it's like, yeah, we won't want to do that job either. How about, I don't want to say doctors in general, but I do want to. So Dennis, so Dennis was up there. If you don't like people stick in their hands in your mouth, wait to hear what they do about your butt when you get older. So I'm going to say colonoscopist. Oh, are you going to say that?
Yeah.
What are they called?
No, they're gastrointestinal.
No, gastroalologist.
There you go.
Gastron something.
Any but specialist is what you're trying to say.
But look, look, I appreciate what you're doing and saving my life.
However, when I think about you, I dread it.
So there you go.
There you go.
All right.
Show me any form of that.
Any blood doctor.
No, no.
Dr. All right, no butt doctor. Okay.
No butt stuff. No butt stuff today.
That's right. Okay.
Monica,
Monica apparently didn't like something you said. She says, women would like a word, Brian.
I know what he means. I know what she means.
She's saying that women already have terrible stuff done to them.
You think butt stuff is bad.
Yeah, they stick like big of things inside them and chip stuff off and don't give them.
Women's health care is jacked up.
Oh, man. And then they stick your boobs in like a cold George Foreman grill.
Oh, the press.
Yeah.
Your boobie's a Panera now.
Panini.
Panini, not a Panera.
Panini.
I got a really good deal on a subscription to coffee.
On your boobs.
All right.
That's right.
We're running out of good ones here.
It's easy to hate somebody who's,
yeah, these are,
these professions easy to hate, right?
You know what?
I'll say,
this may have been under the other thing.
I'm going to say internet.
influencer.
Sure.
The stereotyped influencer type person.
Right.
Just say Kardashian.
Just say Kardashian.
Looks maxing people.
All that stuff.
That's makeup is the best.
And I'm not just saying that because they're sponsoring this video.
Show me influencer.
Oh.
We have a tie game.
All of a sudden,
18 points for each of you.
Yeah.
Nice.
I'm glad I went that way.
All right.
That's good.
That's good.
How about this might be too specific?
but I think a lot about like
the current AI
crypto
freaking world
people are not happy with those guys
so I'm gonna say
yeah is that a term
crypto bros I'll say that
whatever you have in there
for a crypto type bro type
you know that guy
sure sure
show me crypto bro
two people said it
let's see what it ended up being
where is it
I know it's somewhere on here
yeah looks like it was also tied for uh 26 um crypto bro i'm probably just because it's not perceived as a
profession and more just like a a thing you do outside of your other profession yeah it's a
it's a whole vibe i guess is that what you're kind of like they're kind of an influencer side
right it's like i do crypto on the side but i'm really uh whatever crypto on the side that's right
I'm an influencer, but I crypto on the side.
All right.
Don't know.
It's back on you, man.
Um, well, this is the one that everybody hates because they get their little golden
pear shoots.
Look at you.
Is that even really a profession?
CEO.
What is that even?
Sure.
Come on.
Come on.
All right.
Uh, show me.
CEO.
Oh.
No.
CEO number 15 on the list.
It did make it up there, but, uh, not.
enough to to move the needle.
It's not even a profession.
It's more like a, I don't know,
CEO.
Yeah, I mean, it's a position.
It's more like, you know,
or CEO of what?
Because being the CEO of a, of a crypto company
is far worse, I think,
for, in our opinions,
than being CEO of a video game company
or a comic book company or something like that.
Well, lately.
Depending on the video game or comic book company.
Yes, exactly.
Lately, they're having just as much fun.
don't worry, just as many A-holes in theirs.
I think if you took to a poll and said,
what do you think of your CEO?
I think it would overwhelmingly be.
Yeah, I think so too.
Yeah, for sure.
I'm not saying it's true everywhere.
I'm just saying it was a safe pick,
and I'm a little shocked.
It wasn't in the top ten.
I will say that I believe that we've given a short shift
to door-to-door salesman.
Door-to-door salesman.
Oh, that's good.
Hate them.
Do you still have door-to-door salesman?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Even though I got a big old sign that says no soliciting, they still do it.
Same.
I need, and I decided I'm going to design and 3D print a new sign that says, if you ring this doorbell, be prepared to answer what you think solicitor means.
That's great.
Yeah.
That's, I'm, dude, that's great.
I'm doing that.
This guy, I'm still in your idea.
That's good.
You know what I would think if I saw that sign?
I believe, I think this guy wants to talk.
He's just lonely.
He wants to talk.
to somebody.
Yeah.
He wants to talk definitions.
All right.
Show me door to door salesman.
Oh, yeah.
Baby,
we got a tie first time.
Certainly hated salespeople number four.
So, yeah.
I'm sorry.
Number four,
14.
Four people said salespeople.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
Let's go through the rest of these and then we'll pull out a tiebreaker question here.
Number four,
you might have been afraid to say it because of number two being politicians.
But number four is.
the president of the United States.
Regardless of the current administration,
I feel like everybody always,
somebody always hates the president.
I assume that was just loaded in there together.
Yeah, I did too.
Boy, that would have overwhelmingly been number one
if you had to combine those two, man, yeah.
Yes, it really would have obliterated lawyers.
Number two, this is, you know,
we think about, or I'm sorry, number two, number seven.
I can't read numbers today, apparently.
Number seven is one that we,
you know, it's almost,
like a joke hating this job,
but here you go.
Car salesman. Oh, yeah,
duh. It's kind of like the
stereotype hated job and it's always
Gill, right? It's always like this.
It's always like,
we have to play this game. All right, let's play the game.
Yeah, that's why Carfax and places like
that are doing so well. They're just like, they eliminate
that layer. Yes, yes. Carvana
and, yeah, I'll do that.
I still want to see the Carvana machine.
The big, the big, tall,
syscrapery vending
machine of cars operate. Yeah,
I've seen, we have one here. I've never
seen a car come off of it.
You know, rotate or anything like that. No, I want
to. Every time I drive past it, which is kind of
frequent, no car's moving.
I know, I know. Won't you just go push
the button to see if it'll rotate around?
I'm sure there's just a button there.
Like you're checking
out slices of pie,
pecan pie or something.
Number eight,
health insurance adjuster.
A couple of people also said insurance adjuster, but yeah, I lumped all the health.
Ten people said health insurance adjusters, so I just lumped the other two in there.
Speaking of those hated jobs, how about number 11 was IRS agent.
Oh, or auditor, any of those.
It's never a good call, is it?
No, they were coming to auditing.
I'm going to get some money back.
Yeah.
Yep.
That's going to be bad.
Let's see.
Some of the other ones, meter made, professional sports referee.
uh janitor accountant AI technician um debt collector uh do do do
referee is funny because i think you're only you only hate refs in the moment like it's very like
oh i hate you so much but overall it's like yeah you gotta have riffs yep yeah yeah
yeah uh somebody said guest on a podcast yes i'm looking at you done away wow wow that's awfully
specific.
News
reporter at the White House.
I mean,
being being hit it by one specific person,
I guess,
is a lot.
Repo man,
Supreme Court judge.
Wow.
I think if you ate a repo man,
that's kind of on you.
Yeah,
exactly.
Yeah,
the repo man is just doing his job.
That's like the dentist.
It's going to hurt,
but it's not his fault.
Exactly.
Yeah.
No, pagan Asian,
I agree.
Janitor does not deserve to be in there.
We have somebody in the family who does clean up work at a big Denver hot spot, big Denver fun place to go.
I love all janitors I've ever met.
Exactly.
Yeah, I've never met a janitor I didn't like.
I especially like the janitor from the breakfast club.
Yeah, he was very good.
He was awesome.
He knew what was going on in that school.
Yeah.
That's right.
No, janitors are cool to kids.
All the other adults in high school suck, but the janitor is a cool guy.
Anybody who's got to but use
smelly sawdust
to cover up your pukes is
fine by me. Exactly.
All right, well, that means
we tie game. We got to decide who's going to win this
based on this high, low question.
We'll go
from the initial buzz in
and Brian got
politician. Scott was first, but
you did get politician higher. So
I will give you the choice of
guessing the number or going
high low. I'm going high low because
easy because I'm stupid it's like multiple choice yeah sure okay Scott you get to
answer this question answer like a survey since it's 1950 debut how many women have made the
FBI's 10 most wanted list oh man now I'm thinking number would have been better
and this I will see is as of 2018 courtesy of courtesy of the fine folks at inside
edition oh wonderful from 1950 to
2018, how many women made the FBI's 10 most wanted list?
I'm going to say, I'm going to say 15. 15.
15 is incorrect.
Brian is the actual answer higher or lower?
What was the day range again?
1950 to 2018.
Oh.
So 68 years of top 10.
Oh my gosh.
So much higher.
People.
Yeah.
So much higher.
Okay.
Okay.
Like a million.
Really, very good.
All right.
You're saying higher.
The actual answer is 10.
A lot of women finding it really hard to break that glass ceiling on the top 10 list.
That's because they're just straight up, less criminal and terrible than we are.
It's so true.
10.
The first was in 1968 for a kidnapping ransom attempt, and they got her 79 days later.
Nice.
So 10 women.
I think this is wrong.
I think there's so trouble here.
I think almost me quality.
here.
You think so?
Women can be just as bad as men.
They can be.
They don't.
They choose not to for some reason.
We all saw that Charlize Theron movie.
We know.
Yeah, we know how it can go.
But they don't often like make the choices.
We're like, you know what?
I'm going to kill that cat and then I'm going to kill that dude.
And the women go, I'm going to pet that cat.
I'm going to be nice to the dude.
That's how it goes.
That's right.
Also, I think women are more like, yeah, I did it.
You ain't got to come find me.
I did it.
So they're just not on the wanted list.
They're just available.
They're criminals.
They're just not very good at it.
No, they're really good at it.
And they just like, I don't care.
Oh, gotcha.
Yeah.
Well, here's what I know.
My person, Jana Pride.
You get a victory pickle.
You win.
You're a winner.
It's because they're all busy getting their boobs panared.
Congratulations, Jena.
Oh, I still didn't get games in here.
Let's see.
You are going to get.
Let's get some game codes in here.
Oh, here we go.
Courtesy of TYVM, or thank you very much,
you're going to get dead cells from Ombud Bandul,
as well as the Bad Seed Dead Cells DLC to go right along with it.
Fantastic game.
One of the best ever.
No argument for me on that.
Let's see.
And Dectamer is what Jacob Grant is going to get.
Oh, Deck Tamer.
I've heard of that.
who is that from the same person gave those it's all from yep these are all from uh t r p w dick tamer is a um
it's a deck building game i took a look at it and it uh thank god you know you're tym and your deck or
you mean t yvm gave him too sorry not t r p vm yes yeah not that we don't want to give you
credit for stuff that you didn't do uh trpw we wouldn't right fine we would normally but
in this case you didn't earn it yes you don't deserve it sorry buddy uh well that's good that means that
done away well he lost
But tonight, we'll get together again and do a little play retro and watch retro.
And that's a win for everyone, you know?
Where I'm going to win.
Yeah, where are you going to win?
Yeah, there's big win.
Freedom Force.
Get ready to have your little superheroes run around doing stuff in a three-quarter view in a classic way.
That game was fantastic.
We're going to talk about it tonight.
Brian Dunaway.
Some squad-based action RPG light is going to be great.
That's right.
Lots of comic sands.
Get ready.
Yeah.
You like some Jack Kirby?
I do.
Guess what?
I do.
He's built the style all on this game.
Oh, yeah, all over.
Kirby dots, some Kirby crackle.
Lots of Kirby crackle.
Lots of Kirby looking chests.
You know, like dude man chests.
Dude man chests.
Brian Dunaway, kiss our butts.
He's out.
That is the end of him.
Well, not the end of him.
Well, I mean, come on.
It's the end of our time with him.
Let's say it that way.
But that doesn't mean we're done.
That just means that there's more.
And how do I know that?
Well, I'm slowly clicking buttons.
That's how I know.
Hold on a second.
There we go. All right. Hey, everybody, check this out. Isn't technology wonderful?
It can be when Tom Merritt's involved. Hi, Tom Merritt.
Well, hello, Scott and Brian. Hello to you, sir.
Hello. How's kicks, as the kids like to say. How's it called?
Kicks is what moms like.
Kids like it for what it's got. Got. Moms like it for what it's not.
That's right. That's right. And what I realize as an adult is Kix is just,
just packing foam. There's really nothing to it.
Yeah. And that's why the Postal Service likes it.
Yeah.
Not to be confused with, what's the other kind?
There was a kind of was...
That's what I was thinking of.
Oh yeah, there's a band, isn't there?
I was thinking of what's this? There was a cereal like that, but it was, but they were sugary, but they looked the same.
So if you could trick your mom, we did this.
Caboom?
So maybe I tricked my mom into getting that because I said, oh, it's like kicks.
mom, these are fine.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, she's like, well, I like those for what they're not.
I promise.
You know, we lied to get sugar cereal.
That's how it worked.
That's right.
And now I'm pre-diabetic.
Fantastic.
Hey.
Jokes on you.
Jokes on me in the long run.
Always getting ahead of stuff.
Tom, it's always good to having you here.
We have Tom on to talk about tech stuff.
This week is a crazy one.
We got BlizzCon this weekend.
And the fact that the, you know,
three of us aren't going to see each other at that thing is a little weird.
after all the traditional years we used to have together at the day.
I know.
And one of my favorite groups in the world is performing and I'm not going to go down there.
That's actually the part that blows my mind.
But you've already seen them a couple times this summer, at least once, right?
And I'm seeing them a week from today in concert in Los Angeles.
So yeah, yeah.
It's just trying to negotiate the whole ticket thing without having been on top of it right from the beginning was.
Yeah.
Yeah. Pain in the butt.
Yeah.
My understanding is there are a sizable amount of tickets going to people who are just coming for the concert.
Oh, yeah.
From what I've heard internally.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it doesn't make, does it surprise me.
I don't know if that's good for Bliscom, but that's good for LaSera.
It seems bad.
It seems a little bit bad for Bliscon in my opinion.
Maybe a little bit.
There's still selling tickets, but I guess they're not going to sell anything else.
They're not going to sell any.
Yeah.
Any, uh, here's the storm merch or, uh, I mean, yeah, I don't know.
you never underestimate the loyalty of a K-pop
Stan. Fearnots may go and be like,
where's the Overwatch gear? Let's go. Let's buy it. Let's buy it all up.
Maybe.
Go on a plushy run. You know, you never know.
That's right. Well, Tom, we got a tech question for Tom.
It's what he does on Wednesday. It comes on here.
Answers these hard questions that you guys come up with.
And a guy named Slow Horse.
Is that the show on Apple TV?
You know what? Yeah, with Gary Oldman.
Oh, right. Yeah. Slow horses.
Yeah. Maybe he's a fan of that. Could be.
I'm a fan of that.
I am too.
I'm a fan of him automatically.
That was a very good show.
I'm a season behind it. I really like it.
All right.
Here's what he says.
Can you guys ask Tom if the NVIDIA CEO is right when he congratulated OpenAI on hitting
AGI?
We'll get into what that is in a minute.
Feels like if that happened, we wouldn't, we would have heard a lot more about it, says
Slow Horse.
Tom, Tom dug some digging and found out yesterday sent me a note that this is actually a thing
that Huang said back in like May or March or something like that.
So that already makes it weird.
But Tom, I guess we probably ought to do a little bit of like, what is AGI and then what is the significance of claiming that you achieve it?
What isn't AGI?
That's what I'd like to know.
AGI stands for artificial generalized intelligence.
And it's kind of where the industry landed after realizing that the Turing test wasn't useful anymore.
The Turing test was posited by Alan Turing, one of the pioneers in computer science, you know, who built the Enigma Machine and all of that.
And Turing had proposed that if you could chat with the output of a computer and not know it was a computer and never realize it wasn't a human, then that would be considered artificial intelligence.
and it turns out that LLMs are very good at fooling you into thinking you're talking with a human,
but that isn't enough to claim artificial intelligence because there's still a lot of things that they can't do.
So artificial generalized intelligence was a way to say, well, when we get to the point where they generally can talk about anything, right?
It doesn't matter what they were trained on.
It doesn't matter if there's filters, that it can just come up with stuff no matter what,
and it can create its own knowledge,
then we'll call that AGI.
And ask six AI experts in a room for their definition of AGI,
and you'll get six different definitions.
They may overlap here and there,
but there really isn't an accepted definition of AGI.
And so OpenAI came out and said,
Astros 6 is AGI.
And Jensen Wong posted on X,
AGI has arrived.
Congratulations, OpenAI team, and it runs on Nvidia chips.
I do believe what OpenAI is trying to say is Astra is exponentially more capable than its previous models.
And the early returns are that that is true, that it can do a lot more with less, that it can understand intentions better, that you don't have to explain things as much as you used to.
and it's able to do a lot of things
capably without hallucinating
without making mistakes.
It is an incredibly impressive model.
Whether it's AGI or not,
I mean, Open AI doesn't have anything to lose
by saying it's pretty much AGI.
Because then everybody goes,
ooh, that's impressive.
I want to try it, right?
They no longer have anything in their charter.
They used to have something in their charter
that said as soon as they discovered AGI,
a bunch of things change in their agreement with Microsoft.
They re-did that agreement.
So that doesn't matter anymore.
I don't know whether this is AGI.
I think Jensen Huang is saying it's AGI because Open AI said it was and it benefits
NVIDIA for people to go, wow, you can get AGI if you run Nvidia chips.
I knew they were great.
Now I think they're even more great.
And yeah, back in March, Wong was on Lex Friedman's podcast and said, I think we've achieved AGI.
So why wouldn't he say it now six months later?
it's to me it's I don't want to say it's pointless or useless because I think we we
levy that criticism against executives way too often they are human beings and they do say
things that are true sometimes but I do think this is Jensen Wong stretching the definition
of AGI to be like well on the near side you could squint at this and say it's AGI so sure
why not let's let's pretend it is and gets past that because there is a sense to his
comments on this is like, yeah, it's AGI. Who cares? Let's talk about what really matters,
selling Nvidia chips and the implications of that. And in fact, there's an even better
discussion that he had in Washington, D.C., back in April, where he said, you won't lose your job
to AI. You'll lose it to your coworker who uses it. So he was trying to say, look, these tools
are going to help people. You need to learn to use them because you will fall behind if you don't.
Same thing that was said about computers back in the 80s and 90s.
It was like eventually if you don't know how to use a computer, you're going to fall behind in your job.
And it sounds scary the way he says that.
But when you think about computers, it's like, yeah.
And eventually people didn't refuse to use computers.
And very few people just quit their job and said, I can't deal with these computers.
I'm not going to work anymore.
Although a few did, usually because they were closer to retirement.
I think what he's saying is like these are going to be useful to.
tools, they are going to allow us to do more work, which is a reasonable thing to say. You can
disagree with it, but that's a reasonable thing to say. The stuff about AGI, I sort of dismiss
as fluff and marketing speech. Yeah, the other thing, too, is, like someone in the chat
just said it, we kind of breezed right past, not in this conversation, but as a society,
we breezed right past the destruction of the Turing test, like the obliteration of that test.
Yeah. And it hardly made a blip.
Like, isn't that, it's a little crazy, right?
That we didn't.
I think I, I, I know what they're saying, but it wasn't so much that we breezed past the Turing test and acted like nothing happened.
We got to the Turing test and realized it wasn't a very good test.
You know, it was, I think what Turing and everyone else, including myself thought, was like, well, if it can convince me it's human, it'll probably be able to do all the things a human can do.
And what we found is large language model.
are extremely good at language.
So they can sound human.
But that doesn't mean
there's the other human capabilities behind them.
And so I think the reason we breeze past that test
is we found out that a lot of our assumptions
about what passing that test would mean weren't true.
That in fact you can create a machine
that is so good at sounding human
that it doesn't matter what it's capable of on the other side.
And it can't do creative thought
and it would make up facts.
And it's like, oh, well, okay,
so it passes.
is the Turing test, but it turns out that's not as useful as we thought it would be.
Do you know if the new Astro model is any better at not needing as much resource for compute,
like previous models? It is a little more efficient. There is a pretty nice efficiency from it.
So yeah, that is another of its advantages. It's also capable of doing more. So whether that will
actually end up meaning less compute used or not, I don't know. Because if people,
people go, ooh, I can use this to do a lot of stuff.
It could increase the amount of compute it does.
But per token, the amount of, you know, compute that it needs to answer queries is less.
It is more efficient.
Yeah, I was just curious because the economics of AI is, if you really look at it, is really weird right now.
And a lot of it's based on hedging bets and, you know, being ready, losing money now for the future, gaining market share, all these things, like typical business things.
But some of it doesn't seem to have the same kind of tail prediction.
like it's hard to predict when like obviously this phone that I have in my hand which was
infinitely more powerful than the most powerful computer that was ever built in the 60s here it is
in my hand using way less power than that would have taken to run like we do get more efficient
over time and I think everybody's hope is well yeah that stuff will follow that trail and it
will get more efficient I don't know if that's good for Nvidia probably not but but it doesn't
seem like it is. And so the token system just seems untenable in the long term. It's a whole other
discussion. It doesn't seem like it's getting more efficient? I mean, it is getting more efficient,
but what we do when that happens, it seems like, and correct me if I'm wrong, but in AI terms,
the more efficient it gets, we just, the more we throw at it. So in other words, we're not letting,
we're not letting they go, oh, okay, now we can ease up on data centers and ease up on consumption,
and ease up on those things. Yeah, we're not there yet. I would say that this, this is a very typical
curve at this point.
It's just way more disruptive
and way more frightening.
But the curve itself is pretty typical,
which is like we have a new technology.
Let's take streaming video.
Nobody has enough bandwidth for streaming video
two years after Netflix streaming launches.
See, I told you, it's not getting adopted.
It's not getting bad.
Bandwidth's not getting better.
This will never catch on.
Five years later, well, it's catching on with some people.
But it'll never replace discs.
Ten years later, Netflix is dominant and streaming has taken over.
So we are in that section.
We're like, yes, of course, as we get more efficient, we want to use it more.
It's the same thing with highways, right?
You add another lane to the highway, more cars to decide to drive because now there's more room on the highway.
At a certain point, though, if you added enough lanes, it wouldn't add that.
And we get there.
We have just recently crested the hill of bandwidth where adding more bandwidth.
where adding more bandwidth doesn't lead immediately to it all being used.
We are just past the crest of storage where you just don't need as much,
you don't need to keep doubling the amount of storage on your devices every year like you
used to.
And so we're so early in this spot.
I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the fact that like we keep adding compute and then we
keep using it.
It's like, yeah, whether that's going to continue or not, we don't.
We haven't got near the top.
We are still on the hockey stick leg.
But there's some upper limit, probably.
There is.
And if it goes the way everything usually goes, we'll reach that upper limit and be like, oh, now we've kind of neared the part where, you know, compute and use have crossed.
And we don't need to keep adding it.
But the efficiency gains are huge.
Every new chip is more efficient.
Every new model is more efficient.
But as that happens, we realize, oh, but what we can do, we have.
not reached the maximum of what we want to do with it.
Yeah.
And one, one area where I think you are seeing something that indicates what you're
talking about is corporate token use has flattened over the summer.
And nobody is sure whether that's just, well, it's because it was the summer and people
weren't doing as much and it'll start to tick back up in the autumn or whether that
indicates like, oh, maybe corporate use has, has leveled out for the time being.
Yeah.
It'll be interesting to see because this one just feels like the stakes are crazy, but maybe they're no more crazy.
I think that's what makes us all a little impatient, right? It's like, whoa, but this is way different.
You know, you got a guy from Anthropic quitting because he thinks it might get out of control, you know.
And it's it's a unsettling technology in the sense that it can do things that we are not used to seeing technology do.
That's right. Well, where you get these questions answered, I'll tell you where, right here on this
show. But you also get them answered on the daily tech new show, which everybody should be checking.
And then there's this thing happening Friday that I'm coming on. Oh yeah. I'm very excited, Tom.
How's that going to go? Yeah, the big show. Friday, DTNS is live on Fridays. This is, this is, we've moved our
Thursday live to Friday and we just put it into the regular DTNS feed. So Friday will be our look back at the
big tech question of the week, which will probably be about Apple's announcement today because they're
likely to announce a foldable and a new watch. And maybe.
a few other things. It's our first look at John
Turnus on stage as CEO
of Apple. I just want a folding watch.
That's what I'm hoping for. You want a foldable
watch? Okay. I want a foldable watch. Yeah.
All right. Yeah. Well, you know,
never say never.
I do miss
in the last couple of days, there have been some
really sweet, and since AI is kind of the
Photoshop of today in terms of like
fakes and stuff. Yeah. I used
to miss those old days where there'd be a thousand
fake-looking iPhones before the announcement.
Yeah. And this week's been pretty
good that way. It's like, here's a foldable.
We're sure this is the one. And I'm like, yeah, it's
origami. It looks like crap.
Right. I kind of miss those days. So it's
nice to see some of that coming back. Yeah, a little nostalgia hit.
Yeah. Well, we'll see how it goes.
Of course, you guys will be doing full coverage
throughout. And we'll be
doing, we've got, obviously,
the show today, Hwentway Dow
and Sarah Lane will be with me to
break all down the information as soon as it happens.
Like we said, Friday on the live show, we'll be
maybe putting John Turner's to a grade.
and then on Saturday, Sarah Lane and Jen Cutter are going to sit down with the SnobOS
folks, Nika Monford and Terrence Gaines, to kind of take a longer look like, okay, we've had some time to sit with this, what's going on with it?
So it's all coming in your Daily Tech News Show feed at Daily Tech News Show.com.
So many smart women doing stuff over there on Daily Tech News Show.
Absolutely.
Lucky to have them. They're awesome.
Tom Merritt, everybody.
he is known as Ace Detect on all the social medias.
Those are still a thing.
So if you want to get in there,
now's your chance.
It's mostly bots and trap.
But you know,
you want to hook up with Tom in a public way.
But if you out reply me, within a week,
I'll notice and reply.
And then he'll see it.
Oh, yeah, right.
I'm supposed to check these.
It'll be great.
Tom Merritt, take it easy.
We'll see you next time.
See a Friday.
Bye now.
All right.
There goes, Tom.
There he goes.
Watch him as he goes.
Watch him as he goes, you guys.
Now, here's one last thing.
Yes.
Luke Johnson sent me a message
and I'm going to play this for that.
This is about the jugs of P.
This is about Subway and we were talking about how Subway is within 10 minutes of everybody.
They're 15 and 10.
Yeah.
Or whatever it is.
Yeah.
He says,
Hey, Scort and Port,
while I greatly enjoyed Scuba Geeks extreme nerdy, nerdy, nerderity, nerdery.
Nerdery.
Nerdery.
Good Lord.
That was having a hard time coming out.
Constipation word.
Regarding sandwich franchise logistics.
I've actually got a screenshot of Apple Maps
for some reason that didn't come through on his text.
Okay. Sorry about that.
Anyway, he says start.
You start the trip.
My aunt's house is in the middle of nowhere, Arizona.
She has lived there for decades.
She connected to Edgewater,
or sorry, whitewater rafting in the Grand Canyon,
so it makes sense to her.
End, the closest subway is Page, Arizona.
Estimated time, 48 minutes.
He says it would seem that most,
not all households are within 15 minutes of a subway.
Well, yeah, you're going to have examples of people
way out in nowhere.
Sure.
But it is true that, you know, I think we had said, or Scooby Geek had said, that all, that everybody's within 15 minutes of a subway.
Yeah, if that was like men as a hard fact, this is obviously, you lied to a scuba geek is what we're saying.
I just say that his aunt is lucky to not be closer to a subway.
Less temptation to eat that yoga mat food.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't, I mean, look, though I did what you did yesterday.
Well, I don't know if you ended up doing it, but you said.
I did.
I got the hot Italian suburb of the mics.
It was so good.
It's so good.
I have half of it to eat today, too.
I was a little heart burning later, though.
A little bit, yeah.
Yeah, not terrible, and I ate early enough that it wasn't like a problem at night, but...
That's good.
I still don't regret it.
It was really good.
That was a great suggestion.
Good, good.
So good.
Check that out.
And get it Mike's way, guys.
Get it Mike's right.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Unless you're going to be, unless you've got a long drive ahead of you to get it back home,
because the oil and vinegar stuff makes your bread soggy.
And you can always get that stuff on the side and sprinkle it on when you get home.
But yes, get it Mike's way.
Nobody wants wet bread.
Or maybe they do.
I don't know.
I'm not here to judge.
I'm trying to think of a case where wet bread.
French dip is a thing because people like wet bread.
That's true.
How do you feel about a French dip?
I love a French dip.
I do too.
But that's the only sandwich where I like wet bread.
So it kind of depends on what's getting it wet.
In it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
In this case, it's, it's, uh, au jus is like a beefy broth.
Right.
And the only reason it works for French dip is, because usually French dip is
onions, roast beef, maybe some provolone or something on there, done.
How about some fraccia in like, uh, uh, like a soup?
I put an R in faca.
Did I?
I say fracacha.
I probably did.
Carter makes it.
And I put that and I'll eat, I'll eat a whole pan of that.
Oh, it's so good.
love facacha bread. But you give me like a nice soup, like a creamy soup. Yeah. Dipping that in there.
That's what bread I can get into, baby. Yep, I could do that. I'm in. Luke, thank you for the message.
I like Luke because not only does he have the same namesake as my recently departed nephew,
but he seems like a really nice guy. And every time I talk to him, it feels good. So thank you,
Luke for sending that in. I mean, Luke Cygwer just said, nothing special about Mike's subway is just as good.
Oh, my. Yeah. We can't just
Just let that slide.
I frequently disagree with Luke Sightwalker's hot takes because I frequently disagree with him.
I'm going to disagree with that one very quickly.
That makes me want to get up and run around.
Like, how do you say that?
How can you say that?
I know.
That's an insane thing to say, Luke.
Sightwalker.
Not the same Luke as Luke Johnson, different Luke.
I want to see Luke Sightwalker's list.
You know, give me Jimmy Johns, Jersey Mike's, Firehouse, Blimpies, and Subway.
and I want to see that list.
Yeah, I guarantee you, every name Brian just said is better than the one.
Than the one that's 15 minutes from us all.
Right, right, exactly.
All right.
Well, it seems objective to me, but what do we know?
It's going to do it for today's show.
Frogpants.com slash TMS is our website.
You'll find everything you need there.
Schedule, request a song.
Yeah.
Send us messages, whatever it is.
It's all there.
Brian, I think that's it for us.
Do you want to play a song for these people?
I do.
Albert Marr, aka Mayor McChese,
who's been giving us every article about the warning at Daily Music Headlines.
And we've been talking about them because I like the warning,
and I'm happy to talk about them on that show.
And I'm happy to play them for you here.
He says, I don't have a specific date in mind.
Just want to get more people to listen to the warning.
They have a great new album called Everything's Falling,
coming out August 28th, or came out August 28th.
So if you could play this around them, that would be great.
Thanks, Albert from Maryland, aka Mayor McChese,
aka Rosie Cinnamon Mule.
Oh, man.
You got to lock in on one of those.
It's those three words.
Yeah.
It's three words.
Some extra information if you want it.
They censored a few lyrics in this cover,
but I'm not sure if it was because XM asked them to or due to the movie soundtrack that it is on.
Well, the song is, you ought to know by the warning,
originally by Alanis Moriss said.
And yeah, they do talk a little bit differently about what goes on in that movie theater you happen to be in there with.
But I'm just fine with that.
This is a really, really good cover.
And it does come from a soundtrack to an movie that I had no idea even existed.
The movie is called, what is it, Mile End Kicks, came out this year, Canadian movie.
And it's about a writer who's writing one of those 33 and a third books about Alana's,
Morissette's jagged little pill. So the soundtrack is covers of every song from
Jagged Little Pill, including a cover of Ironic by Avril Lavigne, Gore doing a cover of
You Learn. Can't we to hear Monica on that one? All the Canadians, man, this is great.
That's right. Taylor Acorn, Lolo, Poppy, the Haunt, all these great bands doing covers of
Alainas Morissette. Anyway, here is, you ought to know by the warning.
I want you to know
That I'm happy for you
I wish nothing but
The best for you both
I will ever stick a penis in your butthole again
Oh, I need to
I need to
