Starting point is 00:00:00 If one of those hostages is killed in an exchange, we'll all be held responsible. You got a smart mouth, and you're not out of trouble yet. The morning stream. Fish. Why the hell do they call you fish? Hello and welcome to TMS. This is the morning stream. Today is Tuesday, September 22nd,
Starting point is 00:00:38 2006. A lot of 20s in there. My name is Scott Johnson. That's Brian David. Hi, Brian. Hi there. Hello. Hello.
Starting point is 00:00:46 Hey man. Hey man. Welcome to the show. Everybody listening. All you live people. We got a few weirdos in there. That's always good to see. Sorry about the late posting of the YouTube live stream. I forgot to do it until right before the show. Those who are in there are in there. Good. Good. I learned something yesterday that blew my mind. And I'd like to share it with Brian Abbott right now. Tell me. Here's what it is. Do I have the thing for it? History. Yeah. Yesterday is history today. So I learned this thing, kind of by accident. It was just scrolling.
Starting point is 00:01:16 around, I think it was just YouTube shorts or something. And somebody comes on and does like a history of like terms. And a lot of them I knew. Like boycott is the name of the guy who evicted a bunch of merchant farmers. It was his last name. And they were all, boycott. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:36 They were all pissed at him. So they avoided him and did nothing for him and wouldn't move. And basically they boycotted him. And his name became the namesake of. anytime you would, you know, boycott something. It's the dude's name. So I knew that one going in. So I'd heard that one.
Starting point is 00:01:52 There's a few others like, there was another one that was interesting. I can't remember. Oh, salty. Like if somebody's being salty, we know what that means. Why are you being so salty? It goes way back to like.
Starting point is 00:02:03 It's like the mariner term, right? Like an old salt. Yeah. Like you've been on the boat too long. You're too salty. That's why you're grumpy. You got the scurvy, all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:02:14 So those seem like easy ones. that you can trace back. But the one I didn't expect is this one about hangovers. And so I'd never really even ask the question. Why do they call it a hangover? Well, I figure, well, it's the sort of that you drank all night and that's hanging over to the next day. The way you feel is hanging over from the previous night, hanging over the next day. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:35 I was dead wrong about that. Here's where it came from. They had these, think of it as like temporary hostels almost, but basically they had these places where you could stay for the night and do it really cheap and fit a ton of people. And they were basically these ramshackle spaces where they would hang a rope, literally a rope from one side of the room
Starting point is 00:02:58 to the other side of the room, and there'd be many of them. And drunk dudes, people have been out drinking all night, would come in there and to kind of rest off the drinking or whatever and get some sleep. They would come in there and literally hang on these ropes instead of, because there's not room for everyone to bunk up. Oh, my God, to lie down.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Yeah. So that was called the Hangover. And so now they call that, that's where that came from. That's the source of the deal. That's crazy. I blew my mind. Never, never heard of such a thing. Yeah, that was crazy.
Starting point is 00:03:29 So I had to share it. Her name was Gertrude Hangover. Was it like would they be on two ropes, like one kind of supporting their back and one their legs or something like that? No, just hanging over. on their arms and then all their weight. Like partially standing up kind of thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So the legs would drape on the ground. Maybe their knees would sort of brush the floor.
Starting point is 00:03:50 But the weight of their body would be held by that thing, which can't be good for circulation and stuff. No, gosh. Yeah, it's going to just pin, like a cut off circulation of whatever appendage you're hanging on the weight of it. And as gross as it is, Q-Stars right. You can't drown in your own barf if you're like, you know, sort of half standing up. It's true.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Yeah. Which a lot of people do. they're super, super drunk. I guess that's true, yeah. So next time you have a hangover, just remember, dudes were on ropes, man. Wow. Ropes. I wonder if that's on the ropes.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Boy, he's looking like he's a little on the ropes, but that's more of a boxing term. Like you've been hit so many times you're hanging on the ropes. Yeah, I assume that's where that's from. Yeah. But now I've heard this. I don't know if any is real anymore. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Exactly. Could be anything anymore. Who knows anything? Nobody knows nothing. All right, everybody listening live and everybody, home. I need you to do a little test with me, if you don't mind. If you have a mobile phone, a tablet, a computer with a mouse, any sort of modern computing device that's able to browse the internet, I'm over explaining it. Go to my drawings.com. This is a project I've been working
Starting point is 00:05:00 on literally since like the early aughts, but I've just finally decided to put my shit together and get it done. And for the last couple of weeks, I've been tweaking at it. It's basically a website that lets you go in there and draw. The first thing you'll see when you go to my drawings.com is a big canvas and an option to change your colors and you can choose from the standard color wheel or go into the custom color wheel, which gives you as many colors as you can imagine. 16 million to be, you'll never need them. But if you want them, you can do that.
Starting point is 00:05:30 You can jump between a pencil tool and a bucket tool, whichever one you prefer and you can decide how thick you want your lines to be. You also have layers. And so when you're drawn like this on layer one, and then I, I go to layer two. Let's do a larger one and maybe go orange. As you can see, it's behind it because that's a layer. And if you're like, I want that one in front, you can drag the layer right there and put it in front. So we got some cool JavaScript going on, some neat HTML5 stuff going on. And you can kind of draw anything, as you will now see when I go to the gallery.
Starting point is 00:06:03 There's a lot of nonsense in here. Philly code hand already wrote something. Boy, he's quick. Brian Dunaway in the middle of the night did like a little Charlie Brown. really good Charlie Brown too. Yeah. There's a guy pooping. Yeah, anonymous artist. Yeah, I don't know who did that. Can't imagine who did that one. No, no idea. The one of the next in the row below that. Yeah, I did Shark Boy. Carter did this
Starting point is 00:06:24 fish thing. I did this man here. And you can click on him and blow him up and see him. They're all saved in chronological order. Now, these are not my butts. I don't know who did these. Uh-huh. They really are. Really? Yeah. Oh, really? Left one is it? No. It feels like it's your butt. Definitely not mine. Mine is always this.
Starting point is 00:06:41 I don't know who did this. This is somebody else's idea. Anyway, Brian did a little Spider-Man, a little Frankenstein. Yeah. I like that his bolts are on top. That's cool. Way high.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Instead of being on the temples, they're like on the top of his head. Yeah, I dig that. I think that's cool. You know, it's much easier you get to those with the jumper cables. Yeah. You don't have to worry about accidentally getting the ear. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:07 You know what? It's a better design. I like it. I think people should go with it. But anyway, I'm the only one with admin access to delete anybody's nasty things. So like if somebody dropped an N-word or something, I'll just delete it.
Starting point is 00:07:17 So don't bother. But anyway, then you can just go back to the drawing, draw whatever you want. You can use this to just get little doodles and ideas out. And eventually I'm going to figure out a way to kind of datify it all and do some cool stuff with like, you know, combining a mosaic of all the images and have them create something or whatever. I'll make stuff searchable.
Starting point is 00:07:40 I'll make it so there's like maybe some medival. of data, but there's no login, doesn't track you, no cookies. Will there be some sort of like, all right, this week, draw your worst travel nightmare? Yeah, some stuff. I want to do that too. Like, let's have some fun with like some themes and that sort of thing. We'll showcase certain art. Like if somebody does something super rad and detailed, we'll, we'll showcase it on the front page. Right now, it's very much beta and very, it's functional and seems to be stable. But if, if anyone sees any real issues or bugs, let me know. I, I, I realize, that one item we're missing.
Starting point is 00:08:14 I just added, let's see, did it actually work? I didn't test it. Let me double check. Oh, like paint bucketing in a, in a hole. That didn't work. Hold on. Let me undo. There is an undo button, so that's nice. Also, also better than droffle. Yeah. And command or control Z will also undo.
Starting point is 00:08:30 So I tied that in there, but so we do the bucket in here. Okay, good. So it does fills. Yeah, stops at the, the edges. It's a little fuzzy on the edges. I'm going to work on that, but you may not want to go back to the gallery on screen. It'll give you a good opportunity to delete something.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Let's take a look. Get our first weiner. Yep. Oh, yeah, look at that. And they, of course, are anonymous. Well done. Yep. That's good, though.
Starting point is 00:08:59 It'll let me test the admin mode, which I haven't really tested yet because I haven't had to delete anything. But anyway, there you go. She's sign your work-free hotel room for Pete's sake. Yeah. Also, that is a hammer, dude. What are you going on?
Starting point is 00:09:14 Yeah, no kidding. I don't like it. Is Mario going to try and eat that for a one-up? Yeah. Is that a upside-down pendulum axe? What are we doing here? No kidding. Jeez.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Anyway, my drawings.com, and we'll see where it goes. My original design goals with this were like a giant conjoined canvas. Oh, well. you could like you'd see somebody square and go oh i want to add on to that continue on with the square to the left or right or up or down or whatever and then you would kind of claim spaces as yours so that nobody else could mess with them while you worked on them and that all may still come but we're just at the the early days here so i would love some some extra testers uh give it a shot also help me test kind of some back end stuff make sure it's being efficient and not weird
Starting point is 00:10:03 um it's also all static so no database stuff no nothing's being stored that's the amazing that's the part that it's yeah all stored yeah just just static ass internet like back in the day turns out html 5 has got some shit going on man there's some cool stuff in html 5 i've never played with it it's really cool i mean it's obviously if you're on a site that uses it just looks like a webpages working but you can make full on like interactive games and there's 3d capabilities there's i mean the html standards right now are nuts i don't probably do something animation wise too right like with the layers and say, all right, do like a drawful layer thing, but make it the animation. So it cycles one, two, three, four, five.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Yeah, should be able to. I mean, HTML5 supports it as far as I know. Yeah. It's all about kind of like not tapping too much overhead so the people browsers aren't being slow or anything like that. But anyway. Gaming Savon asks how or where do we submit bugs? And I have a suggestion.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Can one of our mods create a channel in the TMS or the, the the frog pants discord maybe and uh call it my drawings communications and yeah something like that bugs there and i'll put a i'll put a note in the uh so this little info panel it tells you kind of how everything works um i'll add to that a link to that so it'll be like uh find found a bug have a suggestion go to the discord so yeah it's good i did so anyway go check it out my drawings dot com super simple and finally after 20 years of owning that domain i did something with it so i know it's so funny like you're telling me about uh when you gave me the URL i'm like oh my god you must have gotten that early because that is such a that would be such a high demand domain these days because
Starting point is 00:11:48 everything for a while was my photos my recipes my blah blah blah yeah my space in fact was yeah my space i think my my chart is where i go for my medical the the stuff that optum puts in for me is under my chart. Yeah, and I did try to find, I remember at the time trying to just get drawings.com or doodles.com or something like that, and they were all gone. So like you said, at the time, the trick was to go,
Starting point is 00:12:15 we'll put a my in front of it. Yeah. Or spell it all wrong. Do that. You know, that was a fun way to do things back in the day. Let's tell it wrong. Let's take out a vowel. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:25 It'd be my, it'd be D-A-D-R-A-D-R-A-D-R-Wing. Darwings. My darwings.com. Someone is in the chat. The race says dark mode. That's coming. I should have had it already in,
Starting point is 00:12:41 but there will be a dark mode option. The canvas will always be white. You can make it dark by dumping a black dump in there. Very easily. Just go in there and just go, hey, here's the dumper tool. Boom, you got a black canvas. But the back end here, there'll be a toggle. It'll just be like a little light that you just click and click off.
Starting point is 00:13:01 And I've got custom art coming for like UI thing. So it doesn't look so freaking boring with these buttons and stuff. But anyway, it's going to be cool. I'm excited. It's for nothing but just let's all remember when the internet was for dumb shit and screwing around and funny ideas and community goof off. Like that's what I want out of this thing. Yeah. So here we are.
Starting point is 00:13:24 I got a quick note that we got, they got this via an email notification from Patreon. Okay. So Patreon, if somebody sends us a private message, like somebody got their game codes. And he says, thanks. I'll get a thing that says, so-and-so replied to your thing. And I can click it and go into the site and interact with them if I want to or whatever. But often, it's just sort of a notification. I got one yesterday from a dude named Fair Chance. He's probably listening right now.
Starting point is 00:13:49 And I went to the site to reply to it, and it was deleted. So this is the only evidence I have that it exists was the email. So he deleted this. But he asked, hey, when are you going to stop the? ice sounds on each episode. Is it that hard to do? He was obviously annoyed. Yeah. He's talking about this, right? When I'm drinking out of my water bottle every day, I got a lot of ice in it. When I pour it, I often get a little ice sound. I'm trying to do better with this thing. But I look, enough people have said it that I'm starting to think there's a specific phobia with ice sounds.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Not a phobia. It's one of those like misophonia, right? It's, it's a, whatever that's More phonia than a phobia. Yeah. What is, so what is, so what is actually the difference? If you say misophobia, phonia, phonia. Well, phonyas is, phonyos is the Latin sound. It's not even like a one-to-one comparison of phobia to phonia because phobia is fear. Phonia is just sound.
Starting point is 00:14:48 So it's just like a. But like impracticality, that's same deal. Sound triggering kind of thing. Right. Same deal though, right? I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid of listening to eat a sandwich on the microphone. but uh oh okay that's interesting because when i say i want to
Starting point is 00:15:03 it triggers a it triggers a an anger response or a or a it's like an irritation yeah okay so that there must be something tied with that with this yeah would have a buy a cow you know the thing is insulated right if you put cold water in it how long will that water stay cold if you don't use ice um problem is getting the so when i get the ice out of the we do the fridge you know the whole up and do the thing. Yeah. It's not super cold when it comes out of there.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Oh, okay. It's kind of room temperature, which some people like that. No, I can't. I can't drink water that is not cold. But all day long, these, these, uh, yeties will keep your, like this ice will last all day and maybe beyond. I've had it last overnight before. So the ice will always stay good.
Starting point is 00:15:53 The problem is it's just loud. So here's my new commitment to not just fair chance. It's an interesting name, by the way. It's funny because actually when you put that in there, I thought it was an AI response to when are you going to stop the sounds, the ice sounds in each episode? Oh, fair chance. It's a fair chance I'll stop.
Starting point is 00:16:15 You know, that's a good point. We're going to use your name in a positive way, and I'm going to try really hard not to do this. Because the goal is I don't want to annoy anybody, all right? Sure, of course. Right. Now, if I really wanted to get Brian, we all know what to do. I could get a big, sloppy something and eat it.
Starting point is 00:16:30 And nom, nom, nom on the mic. Eat buffalo wings on microphone. And I will just mute. I'll just mute. Brian is responsible for every movie I see your TV show where anybody eats anybody. It doesn't matter what they do. And I don't have this reaction to it. But when I see it, now I have a Brian of thing where my brain goes, oh, Brian would hate this.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Brian wouldn't be able to handle that lady at the table. That guy needs to put, and that guy needs to swallow his effing food because Brian would lose it. Yet, yet you didn't capture the Simon Pegg eating scene from absolutely anything, which is probably the worst example of that in film sec that we've had. Yeah, I did that on purpose.
Starting point is 00:17:17 Did you? Oh, yeah, because I knew it would be just like the most grading possible sound. And I saw, what did I see the other day? One of Kim's stupid shows. she's watching Hawaii 5-0 now. Oh, yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:17:31 And it's fine. It's just procedural nonsense. It's not great. But I do like the parade of guest stars are fun because they're all interesting actors. Terry O'Quinn was on there for a while and, you know, people I like her on there. But the show's, it's really basic. Like, thing happens, we react. And then they react some more.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Like, it's just not very good. Anyway, there was an episode and they were all, I don't know where they were at a restaurant and the guy, there's like a kingpin guy, a Hawaiian gangster guy who's sitting at the end of this table just plowing through some, what's that stuff they eat? Poe, poey. Poe. Plowing through the poe and talking while he's doing it. And I went, Brian would hate this so much. not be able to, I wouldn't be able to do it for sure. Yeah, absolutely. Anyway, so he wants me to, so F-I's. Just kidding, go ahead. There you go. Um, O'Crap says, let's see, where is it? He says, any problem going out to eat with other people? Only if they chew with their mouths open. I mean, you know, people, for the most part, polite and just, just chew with their mouths closed. It's really the sound of it. I can see people eat. I can watch people eat. Somebody mentioned, Brad Pitt and Ocean's 11.
Starting point is 00:18:55 He's a quiet eater in those movies. He's eating constantly, but at least he's quiet about it. That's true. He's not really loud. It's more of a visual thing with him. Exactly. So, you know, this will put the fear of folks who are going to meet us for Casa Benita with Barry on October 8th. I will be watching you all eat your enchiladas divorsidizadas and seeing how you do.
Starting point is 00:19:21 and reporting back on TMS the next day. Have you ever had a situation at a meal where you and other people are there, even people you know, and someone's doing the thing you hate, and you've had to say something? No, I don't say anything. Because I don't know. That feels like a bridge too far. I don't know if that's the word, but basically it's...
Starting point is 00:19:47 Like if you have familiarity with the person, like you're super close to them. you're more likely to say something? There's a person in my family that I make sure not to be sitting across the table from when we go out to eat. And this is a person that we go out to eat with fairly regularly. And they, you know, I will just make sure to be sitting on the same side of the table as them or caddy corner or something so that I'm not looking. directly at them because they they don't realize it and I'm not gonna I'm not gonna make them self-conscious hurt their feelings anything like that I'm not gonna you know I'm not gonna upset the the friend family whatever you know I'm not
Starting point is 00:20:36 even to say whether they're friends or family members but the dynamic so I'm not can even like approach that yeah I know it's my issue and that's why I'm mute you know if somebody's if somebody's eating something during play date when there's no cameras on anybody, then it's like, yep, I'll mute. I'll come back and check see if you're still eating. If you're not, then I'll be back. Yeah, I should probably tell people that when they have like someone having a conversation with them on an open mic in their room while we're doing playday,
Starting point is 00:21:05 almost always I mute them and then I forget to unmute them. So I feel a little bad about that. Like, never heard what they had to say again. And I wasn't necessarily on purpose, but just know an open mic will get you. Right. Probably get you muted. Probably it'll probably happen. Well, anyway, so there you have it.
Starting point is 00:21:23 I think that's interesting. It's an interesting... Yeah, I've no, you know, zero control over it. Like, I can't just get over it or live with it. It's like, nope, it triggers a response that I can't, you know, as we talked about that with Wendy. It triggers a response you can't do anything about. So you just have to, you know, you just figure out ways to mitigate it.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Yeah, like things in life. you just get around it, you know. You just get around it. That's it. It's all. You know what's weird? Someone told me other day, says, I know you have edif, edomphobia, whatever it is. Oh, the, right.
Starting point is 00:22:01 You don't want to barf. A metaphobia. A metaphobia. You never want to barf. And barfing is this and that. It freaks you out. And here's the thing, though, I can see, most people, it's if they see a dude barf, they, they'd lose it. Like they're, let's say they're at a, I don't know, outdoor party and some guy hurls in the bushes.
Starting point is 00:22:18 that will start, that will freak them out and they're gone for the night. They can't do it. They can't deal. That is not what happens to me at all. You can barf in front of me, no problem. You see it in movies where people are barfing and it's gross, but it's not like a, oh God, I can't watch it. No, I can watch any of that stuff is fine. None of that bothers me.
Starting point is 00:22:39 It doesn't stay with me, stick with me or any of that. It's just the state I get into when I feel that way. Did someone make fun of you at a young age, like, you know, tease you about barfing or something? No. I don't know the source of it. I mean, do you know the source of the loud eating thing? No, but I know Tina laughs at that I'm a very noisy puker. Oh.
Starting point is 00:23:06 I can't just go to the toilet and go blu-l-l-l-law like she can. She got a lot of practice when she was pregnant with Tristan because she had morning sickness for seven of the nine months. Yeah, women are next level, man. They just can handle it. They really are. But no, me, I go up to the toilet and it's like, ugh, ah!
Starting point is 00:23:28 I am also very loud. I can't not do it, yeah. But I don't have, okay, so, so I, if a straight- There's not a clip of that, Shave Maddox, because I put my headphones down and went, when somewhere else to them. Oh, he's talking about the time you gagged on the, like, thick and liquid. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that was close.
Starting point is 00:23:47 I have that somewhere. Should I play it? Yeah, you do. Let's play it. Yeah, please. All right. Somebody has a phobia of this. Let's see. Is that this one?
Starting point is 00:23:57 Yeah. Yeah, that's it. Yep. That is, that is. And imagine, imagine that now for like a full minute. Before anything comes. That's me too. I know it's been 20 years, but I get pretty seismic when I hurl.
Starting point is 00:24:14 But like where I really get the angle. anxiety is if it's in the middle of the night. Nighttime ruins everything. Middle of the night is no time for anything good. It's just, it doesn't matter what it is. Loud sounds outside. Thunder for me, wakes me up. Any of those things, nighttime makes it worse. And if somebody in the family, even when the kids were little, one of the kids was sick in the night, that's when I go into panic mode. Because in my head, I'm like, that's going to spread. You've got to. Right, right. We're all going to get it.
Starting point is 00:24:45 And you know what? I was the one that took care of, like if Carter barfed her bed, I was, it's fine. I'd take care of it. Yeah. Yeah. I'd go clean her up, take her out, take, put her in the tub, do all the stuff. None of that's a problem. Where it's a problem is when it goes, and there's a virus and it's just popping from person to person.
Starting point is 00:25:03 And we're all going to have it tonight. And then we're all going to have to share two bathrooms. I noticed, I noticed that the first thing you hear on the most recent episode of the instance is everybody got sick at bliss. So there's, you know, it is, it is first and foremost a concern, like a worry for you. Yeah, but just for, just for stomach sick. Like, everybody getting COVID or whatever, that's just expected of these things. There's people breathing on each other. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:30 And I would get- Poor Tanners sick too. Yeah, he got something. He tested and said it was negative for COVID, but it was something. There's bad flu this year. All that stuff's bad this year. So get your shots. Yes.
Starting point is 00:25:40 Although I don't recommend the hepatitis. Well, I do recommend getting the hepatitis one. I'm just saying it sucks. That's all I want to say. say about that. I still need to get my shingle shot. Oh, Brian, you got to go. I'm going to schedule that when you've got, when you say, hey, Brian, no show next Thursday.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Wednesday, I'm going to schedule my shingle shot or get my shingle shot that day. First or second first. First. I still haven't even gotten the first. First ones aren't too bad. That second one. Maybe you'll be different. Everyone's different, right?
Starting point is 00:26:06 Doctor says it's never the same. I know it'll suck. Because, you know, there were times that people around me didn't have any effect with the COVID shots. and I had it and it felt like I had the flu for four hours. Yeah. Well, it'll happen to last about eight this time. Or no, with the second one, it'll last about eight. The second one will feel like about eight.
Starting point is 00:26:26 That's sucked ass. All right, real quick here. Oh, look what time it is. Look what we get to do now. This is exciting because now is a chance for us to... Speaking of illnesses and medicine. That's right. Plus, we can pull out a little card table.
Starting point is 00:26:42 We can throw some stuff on there. Before you know it, we're playing cards and trying to beat each other to a pulp. Ladies and gentlemen, here it is. Here's a tangent for him. Be careful. May he cause drowsiness. Well, look who it is. It's old Dan, not old.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Just Dan Patrice. No, I am old. It's okay. Reading programs. Oh, Dan Patrice. Oh, Dan Petriece. I'm old. I've got to check up tomorrow, so I'll probably be getting some old man vaccines because I'll definitely be trying to get a shingle shot since I had a
Starting point is 00:27:13 singles a couple years ago, and I really didn't have a new doctor. So finally getting a doctor after I went to the ER last week. Oh, there's nothing big. Jesus. So I thought I had some, I just jump into really crazy stuff. By the way, Brian, I am also a very loud puke. Are you a loud puker? And I'm a loud sneezer.
Starting point is 00:27:31 I feel like anytime I sneeze, Johnson could hear me from Utah. It's crazy. I'm one of those. My hearing's not great, but I can hear it when you do it. Yeah. But so it was nothing big. So this summer, my daughter had kind of a semi-emergent emergency appendectomy where she was having some pains on her side and stuff. And then they just happened to have some time off.
Starting point is 00:27:53 So my wife took her into the ER and they were like, you need to go to the other ER now so we could take out your appendix. And they were like, oh, wow. So that was fine. She, you know, she was in and out like the same day. She was home. So I was having some kind of like groinish pain. And it was kind of bad one night. So I was like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:28:11 because I'm pretty sure I have a hernia, which, you know, moral to the story is I definitely have a hernia now. But anyway, so I go to the ER to get checked out. They did like a CT and all the stuff. I don't have problems with my appendix. I got no other masses, nothing else going on. However, they were like, all right, you can go home because, you know, we don't really know what the hell is going on.
Starting point is 00:28:29 But anyway, they hooked me up in another, a new doctor. So now, finally, I have another GP that I can go finally get checkups and check everything else out. So, and I'm sure probably within the next six months or so, I'll get this stupid hernia fix. What is it, what kind of hernia? Is it like the low down front kind of stuff? It's basically kind of, so when I, I noticed it about a week and a half ago when I've been working out, you know, I work out usually like three or four days a week. But when I work out and I do kind of sit-ups or it almost feels like it's kind of pain in my right lower groin. And it was a little bit kind of light, right-lower quadrant.
Starting point is 00:29:02 But now I've kind of noticed where it almost feels like, I'm sorry I'm getting graphic everybody. But it almost feels like it's pulling up one of my testies, like a little bit of like definite pain in that area. area and kind of in air. So, but I had noticed a lot of times when you have hernias, you'll have the pain when you're lifting, but you'll also have like swelling or inflammation. And I hadn't had any of those in the scrot area. So usually that's kind of one of those telltale tony. Or it's just been a little bit of pain.
Starting point is 00:29:27 It just kind of like goes away. So I just thought it was more muscular. And it still may be just muscular, you know, maybe a slight tear in area. But I'm pretty sure probably have a little bit of hernia because I had a hernia on the left side that was repaired probably about 10 years ago that, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, I'm It didn't feel quite the same, but it probably is pretty close to that. That abdominal wall is going to come down, baby. Not really.
Starting point is 00:29:48 You'll be fine. I went and had, I had this done when I was two. Two years old, I had a hernia, a weird baby hernia where the... Enguinal or... Yep. I think so. And they had to do it way early, and I still have the scar from a two-year-old. I have a scar.
Starting point is 00:30:06 It's crazy. Yeah, it's very, very common, especially after when you're born or shortly after that. DJ had one where you could see basically a bubble almost by his belly button where like those kind of hernias were... Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think that was what I was heading toward if they hadn't had taken care of it. What's weird is, I think today it's all lathroscopic, right? They don't do the...
Starting point is 00:30:27 Or laparoscopic? What is it? No, laparoscopic. They go through the... They just do a little hole now, right? But back then, they cut me wide open. A little two-year-old on a table. What the hell, dude?
Starting point is 00:30:38 Yep. I'm lucky to be here. I still have, it's funny, because on this side where it is now, I was kind of bored with Ernie and I have a little bit of a scar on that same side. So, I mean, you know, the abdominal wall, especially when you get old, like some of these things, everything just starts kind of breaking. We're all freaking old. Everything breaks down on you, you know, between joints and muscles and everything else. Just trying to stay in shape is the best thing. Everybody, take your vitamins, get your vaccines.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Yeah. You know, go on from there. For sure. And try not to eat with your mouth open in front of Brian. Yeah. Yeah, I do that. Also, you know what? Like, can I, you just said something that, you know that guy on YouTube that's always trolling you for being anti-vax? Did you hear what, did you hear what Dan just said?
Starting point is 00:31:21 Go get your vaccines. Did that guy, did he, are you still listening? Because that's what Dan just said. Oh, man, we really need to make sure that everybody, I don't want to get into weeds, but make sure everybody's getting their MMR and everything else because, God, we got to eradicate measles in the country again because it's a little bit, a little bit more. And make sure everybody, if it hasn't been said enough, make sure you get regular checkups, do your screenings, poop in a box, do all the, like, get everything regular. And if you're above a certain age, get like, like, kind of like what Scott said,
Starting point is 00:31:54 make sure you're getting your hep vaccines. You're going to need your heap. You're going to need that your shingles back. Shingles is more kind of, I guess, elective, but it's still probably a good thing to get, especially over 50. And your new mo when you get over, I think it's 65 or 60. is the new, they change these things all the time. Changed all the time, right?
Starting point is 00:32:12 But make sure you're getting them. And for love of God, please, this is more probably, I open across the line here, Johnson, but I know a lot of people, there are people that are just, for their kids, just absolutely anti-vax. I can just tell you, it absolutely helps the health of your kids long term to get your children vaccinated. And the ones around them, damn it. Go out and do it. Especially your T-Dap, like just get all your vaccines.
Starting point is 00:32:34 It just helps everybody and helps society. There you go, YouTube Troll. You've never been happy. here. My gosh, that guy. So I want to talk about, since we're talking about gatherings, talk about things like parties. Let's talk about a couple of party games. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:49 That I wanted to talk about. Good. So this is kind of getting to the time of year. You know, I like to do this around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and also Canadian Thanksgiving, which is coming up, I think, in about another month or so. You know, let's talk about a couple of good party games. First one, Johnson, I'm really bad today. I apologize.
Starting point is 00:33:06 I didn't put any links in the chat for us. But these aren't easy to find. I'll find them, yeah. These are pretty easy to find on there. But the first one I'll talk about is a game called Size Wise. Now, this is a very small-type, small box games. I think it's only about $20. I was told it didn't matter how big the box was.
Starting point is 00:33:26 Exactly. I don't remember who told you that. Weird. I love it. He might be here telling us that. Anyway. And so what you're going to do is everybody's going to have kind of like a little, you have this little string
Starting point is 00:33:39 and it's going to have a little... I'm saying so many bad words. That's a big string. It's a string with a ball at the end of it that everyone's going to have. And what you're going to do is you're going to get something where it's going to be,
Starting point is 00:33:51 you know, it's going to say things like a circumference or another, it'll say like a basketball or an elephant foot. Oh, okay. Or it's just kind of like a bass
Starting point is 00:34:01 or something like that. And then you get that and then everybody will kind of put the ball on their string to how long they think or how big they think that thing is. Just say like an elephant foot. Because, you know, some of these things can be very ambiguous. Ambiguous.
Starting point is 00:34:16 I say, God, you guys, after all this laparoscopic and everything else, all these other things that we can't say. So anyway, could be ambiguous to how longsome is. Like, is it, are you talking about around an elephant foot? Are you talking about from side to side? So that's where kind of the, you know, the eye of the beholder. So you put the length on this, you know, the ball on the string. And then you'll kind of, you have this little wooden thing where it's basically a pole.
Starting point is 00:34:40 And at the end of your string, there's a circle, like a, you know, almost like a can cap where it kind of everybody basically goes on this little pole thing. And then you see who has, you know, where everybody's basically long and short of it. Whoever has the longest and is short of it loses basically loses a token. And after a certain amount of tokens, you know, everybody has like whatever, four or five tokens depends on the amount of players. and then whoever, you lose a token, whenever somebody runs out of tokens, the game is over, and then basically you see who wins. This is one of these, party games
Starting point is 00:35:11 are good because nobody really cares who wins. It's just kind of one of those things to see, you know, the long and the short of it, if you will. Sure. I love the name, and also, let me just say something about this art style. It reminds me a schoolhouse rock. I love it. Totally like schoolhouse rock. Yes, it's a fun. I love that. That is great.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Great look, great retro vibes. Very cool. If you figure out how big an elephant's foot is, oh yeah. Oh, yeah. The elephant's foot is bigger than you think. So what's the size of a basketball? New episodes coming soon to PBS or whatever.
Starting point is 00:35:50 That's right. Anyway, check a coverville near you. That's right. I love it. Size-wise, check it. That's anywhere I want to get board games or am I going to have to do some weird ordering for that thing. Not weird ordering, but it might be because you may be able to find
Starting point is 00:36:03 your FLGS, but probably not at mass market quite yet. Because Gamehead, it's from Gamehead, so they kind of mostly on Amazon or probably their own little, you know, they're, or probably some FLGS. I've got another one from one of my favorite companies, too. This is from Ivy Studios.
Starting point is 00:36:19 This is called Hypothetically. And if you allowed me, we're going to play a couple of rounds of this live on the air. Oh, yeah, dude. So what we're going to do, so each one of these cards, and hypothetically, this is another game for three to six players. And we're going to have you, me, It's going to be Johnson, Ibit, me, and we can even probably play it with the chat room as well.
Starting point is 00:36:38 So I'm going to give you guys, each one of these cards has a question. There'll be a question on top and a question on the bottom. Now, Johnson will start up with you. Everybody's going to put a number, and we won't announce it until after Johnson says he's got his. And then me and Brian will announce it, and then we'll get the chat room. So I've got two questions for you. Johnson, you pick one, okay? Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:56 So how many poems have you written in your life, or how many 12-ounce can, could you stack into a tower before falls? And this is, oh, I already love this. So you pick one of these questions, then you're going to answer it. And then we're going to, well, you're going to give us a second. Then you'll answer it. And me and Brian will say what we wrote down. And then we'll see what the chat room says.
Starting point is 00:37:16 And we'll see who's closest. And that's who basically goes. But is the number, the number is trying to guess how many I would have stacked. Yes. Yeah. For whoever's going to be the quote-unquote answerer. Okay. I like this.
Starting point is 00:37:26 I actually really like this. It's really really. Especially for like close, people who think they're close and really really know each other. Yeah. It's like newlyweds kind of work. That totally is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:36 All right. I'm going to say, which of the two. Yeah. I'm going to go with the poems one. Okay. So how many poems have you written in your life? Brian, you go ahead and write a number down. And I'm going to write a number down too in a chat room.
Starting point is 00:37:50 You put stuff in a chat. Johnson, don't read the chat. Does it count his weird raps that he does, you know, when he was doing an adventure club, like, hey, my name is Scott. And I'm here to say, hey, welcome to the thing. And let's go play. straight poems. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:04 And also, do you say, do you say, like, I think Nate Braggazzi says it weird, where some of the people say poem. Poemes, poems, I don't say. The dude on his podcast, he used to be on the podcast, but the Nate Land Show had, what's, Brian, forgot his name, another Brian. Was it Brian Regan? Right, no, the other, Brian's something. Anyway, it's a guy in Tennessee comedian, he always said poim and they all gave him shit
Starting point is 00:38:25 every guy. Poems. By the way, they're right. You should never say poim. That's F. That's FTA. Yeah, no, that is wrong. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Poim. Now I think I'm going to be woefully short if Scott may consider those poems. Poemm. Poems. All right, so I've not looked at anything. Everyone's got their numbers. Yep. Oh, you did consider those poems, Scott?
Starting point is 00:38:49 No, I did not. Okay, good. Good, good, good. So what do I do now? So you just tell us. You tell us. You tell us your number. Okay, so obviously this is a bit of an estimate because nobody keeps track of all the shit they do.
Starting point is 00:39:00 But I think it's somewhere in the, the range of about 38 is my number. Wow. Wow, you are quite the established poet. There was a Shakespeare. There was an era. I'm not saying they were very good, but when I was in junior high up through high school, I thought of myself as pretty poetic. So I had a notebook full of this stuff.
Starting point is 00:39:23 Tons of it. Release the poem files. Release the poem files. The courtship of Kim Johnson, Scott Johnson. There was a lot of rhymy ones. There were ones that were non-rimey. There were like entire stories told in poem form. Like I went nuts with it for a while.
Starting point is 00:39:38 For whatever reason, I thought this was like the ultimate art form, written art form, and it was going to be a thing I did. So, yeah, it's in the 30. Brian, what did you write down? I wrote seven. I read you that. I see Scott as much of a poet. That's all right.
Starting point is 00:39:53 I thought even less of Scott. No offense, Scott. I wrote four. Wow. I figure you were more of a long form prose guy. Oh, way more poetry, man. And I would do, I did, like, I would print my own little poetry books and stuff with some of these poems in them and I would illustrate them. For Christmas gifts, that's what I would do.
Starting point is 00:40:13 Ode to Kim. Yeah. I love your driving and your cooking. I love you more than the feeling of puking. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, it's pretty good. That's a freebie, everybody. Pulled right from the Scott Poem files.
Starting point is 00:40:26 But for me, it was like, it was like, like if Christmas would come around and I had no money and I'm like, and I'm like, 16 or something. I would make these poem books go to a kinkos print them out on nice paper and then I'd illustrate them, of course, then print them out on nice paper, make a few copies of it, and that's
Starting point is 00:40:45 my gift failure. So I give it to my mom and everybody. Really, really lame, right? It's lame. But I thought I was like, oh. I don't know how lame it is because if you go to a farmer's market, I bet you there's stalls of things like that. Probably. Well, there's stalls where there's stalls where there's somebody with a typewriter
Starting point is 00:41:01 and as soon as you walk in, you pay five bucks, and they will compose a poem for you on the spot. What? Take your five bucks, yeah. And it's type, so it's like an little, it's like old school type. It's on an actual typewriter typed poem. I will custom write a poem for you. I actually kind of like that.
Starting point is 00:41:15 That's a really fun little trick. I bet you there's a card. I bet you there's a card in this game that says, how long would it take Dan to compose a poem for somebody on the spot? How many hours would it take? So I'm scrolling back up through the chat. Did anybody get close to 38? I think somebody said 34.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Oh, yeah, Burgess Diesel. Oh, yeah, Burgess Diesel did it. You know what? I think Burgess Diesel deserves a sticker in the mail. Or a victory pickle. Or a victory pickle. You know what we'll do both. I'm going to send you a sticker.
Starting point is 00:41:45 Send me a thing on Discord. He knows how to get a hold of me. But in the meantime, let's give him a victory pickle. How the hell is it? Oh, they changed their color. I guess, yes. Zoe and Wes were each four points away from each other. You get a victory pickle.
Starting point is 00:41:57 We're giving it to Burgess. All right, Brian, I got a question. We're going to let you go now. Oh, okay. All right. All right. So you get to pick one of these two. What's the most money you've spent on one trip to the grocery store?
Starting point is 00:42:10 Or how long would it take you to paint your bedroom by yourself? Oh, wow. Okay. I got to get this game. This is fun. I'll take the second. Oh, the second one. How long would it take you to paint your bedroom by your bedroom by?
Starting point is 00:42:28 Here's all the dumb questions I have. Are we counting the entire process from the state that the bedroom is now where I have to move things away from the walls and paint? Or is it from when I put the brush against the wall the first time to when I pull the brush away? I would say we'll just start from the painting itself. Gotcha. You've already bought the paint. I've already moved. I've already put tape on the baseboards, that sort of thing.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Okay. Yep. I'm going to write. So you can do either minutes or hours, I guess. will either way. Does he use dry erase markers, by the way, when you write down your own? Yes, and it comes with
Starting point is 00:43:04 about about one, two, three, four, five, six of them in there. Because it's for three to six players. I mean, you could basically play this with any amount of people, really, but it comes with three dry erase boards, and they're the real good pens, too. Like the ones you get with Got Five.
Starting point is 00:43:20 The Got Five pens and erasers and dry erase is fantastic. Oh, that's great. Oh, so good. Yeah. Let's say there's another shout out to God I can't tell you how much fun that game is. So much fun.
Starting point is 00:43:31 Got five is your, it's your hot, it's your favorite deal. It might be, it's going to be in my top 11 of the year. Yeah. So good. Hitster, hitster is another one. Ozzy Mondias in the chat room brought that one up. Paul brought that to the last board game day. I want him to bring that every single time because that was such a fun game.
Starting point is 00:43:48 Why is hypothetically so, I can't get it until late October on Amazon. I'm probably getting so. Oh, that's interesting. Well, go to Ivy Studios themselves. Maybe that's because it's Amazon. it might be a little cheaper on there. I'll check it out. Sorry, I don't want to interrupt this.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Okay, so I wrote something down. All right. Johnson, did you write some down? Yes, I have written. Okay. You picked the... Don't say what your answer is. Let me make sure I remember that I wrote it down
Starting point is 00:44:13 for the right thing that you said the painting of the room, right? Yes, how long it would take to paint my room. From the point in which the paintbrush first touches the walls to, I take the paint brush away from the walls and the room is done. Brian was so descriptive. It makes me think he's a pro at this. Like, there are just, it would... It would take me a day.
Starting point is 00:44:29 My wife would take her like 30 minutes. No, my problem is that I just analyze the shit out of everything. And then I procrastinate. It's like, oh, I don't have to move the bed away from the wall. I'm going to have to take the curtains down. It's exactly where my head goes on any big changes in the house. I hate it. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:44:46 Hey, we're putting new flooring in. Oh. All right. I'm going to say 4.5 hours. So whatever that is in minutes, 270 minutes. That says so much about me. What did you say, Johnson? I said 18 hours.
Starting point is 00:45:03 18 hours? Wow. It's got, it says nothing about you, Brian. That is nothing about you. That's everything about how long it would take me. Is he taking a couple of naps? I just, every paint job, paint fumes.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Every paint job I ever did never felt like it took less than, it feels like it always takes too long. So I overestimated. I feel like I could paint my house in 18 hours. Yeah. And I say, had three hours. Okay. All right. So not too bad. Not too bad.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Anybody get close in the chat room? We got it. At least five. I said four point five hours. Somebody said four hours, 22 minutes and 18 seconds. That was great. Chuck. Chuck kind of, I mean, yeah, nobody got closer than Chuck. So victory pickle for Chuck.
Starting point is 00:45:48 I love it. I course got a good point about the technicalities. Three hours painting, 24 hours drawing, three hours again painting the second coat. Oh, like I'm going to do two coats. Yeah. Don't be ridiculous. See, that's another weird technicality, right? But, no.
Starting point is 00:46:01 You know what? Victory pickle to Chuck then. You get a victory pickle. Good job. Yeah, it's probably three hours or two hours of using a roller and two hours of clean up with a brush. Man. Man, I'm going to have to get this hitster. This game looks great, too.
Starting point is 00:46:16 I hadn't seen this before. Oh, it's so fun. And it uses, it uses like QR codes and Spotify. And it's, but we play, we, you know, we're all music heads. So we made it extra challenge. And we said, we had to, before we could place it in our rack saying where we thought it was in years or a time frame, we had to name the song, the artist, and take a guess out loud of the year we think it is. So we gamified the game a little bit. So sometimes, I don't know if you do this on YouTube sometimes.
Starting point is 00:46:46 You know, like, you know, on the weekends where you're, you know, it's like you're, you're not quite ready to go to bed yet, but you're not ready for another movie. So sometimes I put these like quizzes on YouTube, but it'll be like, oh, guess these 25 movies are show. songs from the 80s by the first four seconds of the intro. Yeah. And my wife always gets mad because she's like, I'm not good at this. Whenever something comes on a radio, I'll be like, who sings this? She's like, I hate this game. So because I'm, you know, we're such 80s.
Starting point is 00:47:11 I love it. So good. It's my favorite. It's, I'm such a, you know, such a music head too. Listen, I love TV's Travis's trivia. I love his segment, but I wish it was that. I wish it was here is, for Brian, it's, it's, for Scott, it's all movies, years. Give him years.
Starting point is 00:47:27 For me, it's all named the song by the first half a second of the intro. That's so good. Oh, my gosh. It's surprisingly, I'm really bad at lyrics. Like, when I see, like, the lyrics written, I don't know if there's something between, like, the, I'm sure, I'm sure Jerry could tell you, like, what these things are technically called.
Starting point is 00:47:47 Like, I'm more of an audio fill where, like, my ears, even though I'm half deaf, like, the ear portion of recognizing something versus, like, the facial recognition of, words written. Like if I heard the word sung, I can probably tell you, but I couldn't, if I read it, I just does not translate at all. Yeah. Does not compute.
Starting point is 00:48:06 That's funny. I'm a super lyric guy. So you give me somebody just telling me the lyrics to a song and I'll say, oh yeah, that's Love to Love You Baby by Donna Summer. Or, well, that's a bad example because the only lyrics in that song are I love to love you baby. But I like that one. That's good.
Starting point is 00:48:22 Yeah. I think there was another game now. This is how bad. I've seen. I played way too many and seen way too many games. There was a game where on cards, there would be like lyrics, but they would be commonly... Oh, misheard. Yes, misheard lyrics. And you have to say what the actual either lyric is or the actual song is.
Starting point is 00:48:42 Somebody got me that game. I have that game somewhere. Yeah, it comes as a little... It's a little deck. It's like a small deck that, like the size of a... of a one trivial pursuit deck that you get. I've got that somewhere.
Starting point is 00:49:00 I was going to use it for tiebreakers with Scott and Brian, but I could not tell you where in this rat's nest it is. There you go. Well, you and me both, brother. Sizewise. I will save. I will save,
Starting point is 00:49:11 I had a solo game for everybody, but I'll save that for next time. But we had some fun with, definitely pick up hypothetically and size-wise. These are so much fun. And let me tell you, again, you could play these problems. with any amount of people
Starting point is 00:49:24 and they're easy. You don't even, I mean, how long did it take me to explain both of those games like 20 seconds? A minute. If that. You could just play. You can play with anybody at all your gatherings and they're just an absolute blast. All right. Well, that one sounds great. And I really like
Starting point is 00:49:40 I was going to say, I went to the site, you're right. If you go straight to what's their name's site, I just killed it. Damn it. Who's the well, Gamehead or Ivy Studios? Ivey Studios. I went to I went to Ivy Studios for hypothetically, and they definitely have it. It's actually a dollar cheaper than Amazon, and it's available, and you can get it right away.
Starting point is 00:50:00 So do that. And can I give one more PSA before we stop? Always. So with a lot of things happening, you know, I mentioned already about vaccines and stuff. One thing we kind of mentioned on our last show that I really would like to stress because we don't do this enough. And I think it's more of a dude thing. Check on your friends. Ask them truly how they're doing.
Starting point is 00:50:20 I hope everybody out there is doing. well. I hope everybody, you know, and sometimes it just has to be one-on-one. It sounds, you know, they may laugh when you first say it. Like, Brian, how are you doing? I hope you're doing well. I hope everything's going okay. You know, do those things and check on your friends because you don't know the crap somebody's going through in their life and it's always good to check on your friends. Yeah, it is very good. Maybe even a non-friend at me and they may look at your enemies too. Yeah, check on everybody. Check on everybody. Yep. Don't just sit. The quietest ones are often the ones going through the worst stuff.
Starting point is 00:50:56 I'll check on the Jack Rabbit Slim's trivia team tonight. Just see how they're doing before the game starts. Hey, how are you guys doing? You guys doing all right? And if I haven't said it enough, I love you guys. Yeah, no, we love you, man. We love you, man. Yeah, we love you.
Starting point is 00:51:10 And very much in like a, you know, we're not into the dudes or anything. Yeah. But if we were. Not that there's anything wrong with that. If we were, Dan would be top of my list. Take it easy. Say hi to the fam and get that hernia unherniated. Thanks a lot.
Starting point is 00:51:29 See you guys. I know. See you. All right. Check out the Geek All-Stars podcast, by the way, everybody. Oh, yeah. He's on that. All right.
Starting point is 00:51:38 We got a quick thing to get through. This is about the jugs of pee. It's an email. It's actually a text. But here's what it is. It's a week old, but fun. This is, I guess, an anonymous person. He says, I recall someone saying they wish the
Starting point is 00:51:52 Broncos would beat the Chiefs on Monday night football, wishes do come true, just not for Broncos fans. Someone throwing a little shade at you there, Brian. I don't remember saying that. I mean, I probably did. I mean, obviously, I was rooting for the Broncos against the Chiefs, but did I say that out loud that I wish that Broncos would beat the Chiefs on Monday Night Football? Probably.
Starting point is 00:52:11 Maybe it's just assumed because you're a Broncos. I mean, I always want the Broncos to win because, you know, it's a much, people are in a much better mood when they get into my Uber or that I bump into on the street or whatever. and, you know, I would have liked it, but I would have liked them to have done a little better than they did. But, hey, they did just fine against the Jacksonville this last weekend. That's true. Take that, Jacksonville.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Yep. Reminds me, I have a little Denver beef. Can I lay out some beef? Oh, please, lay out some Denver beef. Nick went to... Their new outfits? They're the worst. Nick went to conference there.
Starting point is 00:52:46 He's a... He just got a management position with within the... the Trader Joe's organization. So he's now kind of got some bigger responsibilities. And as part of it, they have this annual retreat they do. And this year it was in Colorado. And it's only a day or two. But he went to that.
Starting point is 00:53:06 That's why we had the baby over the weekend. So he goes to that thing. And had a great time. Getting there, no problem. Got to Demer International, went and did his thing. Uber to the thing. The party was great. Everybody was nice.
Starting point is 00:53:20 Met a bunch of new people. Learned a bunch of stuff. came home. Happy he's a big impo, but he was supposed to come back yesterday. His flight was supposed to be here at five. And he calls at like five and says, or no, maybe, well, before that, but
Starting point is 00:53:33 whenever his flight, he missed his flight, but here's why. He wasn't, he wasn't late. He was at the airport plenty of time and all that stuff. He goes to TSA and they pull him out like he's got a bomb or something. Sure. Is random secondary stream here or was there something that made them
Starting point is 00:53:49 raising the eyebrow? So the bag, So the bag, which I've used on at least 10 flights, it's a bag that's like a carry-on wheel one that's nice and compact. We really like them. Kim has an identical one, and he's using mine. And in there, this used to be a popular thing. They were a sponsor of a show or something. And so I got one of these for free. And inside of it is a battery pack to charge your stuff.
Starting point is 00:54:17 Oh, like a lithium ion battery pack built into the... built into the thing. And it's never come up on a scan or, including on the way out of Salt Lake International to this very trip. Nobody says anything. It just is, we've just never, ever had it come up, nor have we ever used it. We don't need it. Never used it for a charger. There's always somewhere to charge at the airport. Like, it's not a big deal. So we just, it's just in there. These guys acted like Nick was smuggling in some freaking C4. Oh, no. So they were like tearing it apart. They had to physically remove it like oh seriously oh geez pry it out of there take everything out of the bag so they could get in there and get that out and yeah and he and he said they wouldn't let him touch
Starting point is 00:54:59 it they're like we have to do this sir or whatever so they dig it out of there and they're using all these tools to get it out all his stuff's laying everywhere delays the flame totally misses his flight as a result they take care of it finally and he gets a later flight and he was home by eight or something but it's just sucked I'm not that's not a you know that's not a denver problem That's a TSA problem. That's a TSA problem. Screw you, TSA! They, you know, they always ask you, do you have any, got any lithium ion batteries?
Starting point is 00:55:27 Or there's some kind of battery that freaks them out now because it, you know, they, like those batteries that were catching on fire in people's pockets on security cam videos. But what was the phone? The Samsung? But everybody takes a battery with them when they go somewhere because, you know, you don't know how long you're going to be without a place to plug in your phone. charge it. Yeah, plus his phone and his steam deck he took with him. They both have lithium ion batteries in them. Yeah. It's not like there isn't batteries every two feet. So I don't know what the beef. That's right. That's what his son bun. Yeah, you can't put him in your check bag because they catch on fire. That's right. So you won't always have it on your carry on. Yeah, and that's all this was.
Starting point is 00:56:05 Exactly what he was. Yeah. Just a carry on. I still think they get goofed or something. I think so too. Yeah. Poor kid. He was just, I say kid. He's 26. He's not a kid. Anyway, that's all I got there. Landon also wrote in and said, hey's guys, hey's guys. Hey, guys. But a S word did not belong. I've resurfaced after a minor obsession of listening to the dungeon crawler Carl audiobooks the last month or so. New achievement. Welcome back.
Starting point is 00:56:32 He says, so can I get some big hitters that I missed while I was out? Was all normal? Was Scott gruesomely injured in a pickle accident? Did Ibit have a brief trial of toupee? I need to know the memes. What do we got? Let's see. Over the last month.
Starting point is 00:56:48 Is that what he says? Yeah. After the last month or so. Again, think of anything. No, nothing really. Yeah. Just ourselves. Everything's normal.
Starting point is 00:56:56 Yeah. Yeah. Which is good. You know, you can come back in and not feel like you've, like you have catching up to do. I'll tell you this. You pick up right where you left off.
Starting point is 00:57:04 It's more like news, but Bobby got a job as a teacher, a science teacher at the local school, which means now we'll mostly have Dr. Nikki taking his place every few weeks, with some exceptions when he's available. That happened. Tom grew two extra nipples
Starting point is 00:57:22 Right yeah Nicole got her helicopter's license And what else? Stephen Schleiker now goes by Larry. Larry Schlecker Yes, Larry Schlecker. Yes. Yeah, I have an intro, son bun, for Dr. Nicky.
Starting point is 00:57:39 It's just those annoying goats. Yeah, it's horrible goats. Can we combine it with the, you know, those speaking Speakin spells? not speak and spell, but the one that had the spinning arrow in the middle that would go, the cow goes moo, and then you pulled the cord,
Starting point is 00:57:54 the arrow would spin around and randomly pick another one. Oh, yeah, what is that called? We need a goat one for her as her intro. The cow goes moo. Oh, you know what? That's the first thing that comes up. It's not the, it's just a cow, though.
Starting point is 00:58:10 Is this? Okay, Fisher Prize, Cience. Yeah, good Jerry Tolbert had it. Here, let's hear it quick. I think I have it. Okay, duck says, go to the goat. Oh, sheep. No, he just flipped it over to the cat.
Starting point is 00:58:30 This YouTuber was on, his arrow was on the goat and he flipped it. He manually moved it off the goat. Well, it's a, it's a weird. I don't remember these having this. Oh, is it not the spinning arrow deal? It is, but it's got this like weird here. I'll back it up. It's like a collapsible.
Starting point is 00:58:46 So watch this. Lands on sheep and then he turns it. Oh, oh weird. I think kids today have some fancier stuff than we had. No kidding. We had effectively one, we had one wheel
Starting point is 00:59:04 with whatever animals we had. These kids today, they got two whole sets, man. And it was right, exactly. And we had a pull string. We didn't have a slot machine plastic handle. Yeah, I got to go find a better version of that. The insidification of the Ciencée. We've just witnessed it.
Starting point is 00:59:21 Everything gets shitty over time. Shrinkflation. Also, bloat wear is what that is. All right. Blotware, yes. Landon, thank you for your message. Thank you also to the Bronco guy or the, I guess, Chiefs guy.
Starting point is 00:59:34 And it's not our, look, we feel bad for you. The Chiefs, you know, you're going to go ahead and go with the Chiefs, your four-time winners or whatever they are. You're going to go ahead with the big guy. That's boring. You probably also like Manchester United. And you probably also, you know, like the Chicago Bulls. I like the birds.
Starting point is 00:59:53 The birds are great. Or the Bill Burrs. The Bill Bears. Yeah, Yankees fan. Like, what's going on? Exactly. The only like the Lakers. F off.
Starting point is 01:00:03 Right. Yon. Just kidding. We don't. We really like whoever that is. Or do we? I don't know. All right.
Starting point is 01:00:09 We're going to get out of here now. Frogpants.com. TMS is our website. And you can find everything there. All right? Just go look for it. Once again, try out my drawings.com. We'd love to have you guys in there dinking around.
Starting point is 01:00:20 Help me test this thing. Also, oh, yeah, my first bug is that my password admin thing is worked, so I can't delete the penis yet. Oh, no. But I'll get there. I'll make it work later. And then, oh, and then there's new comics up every day all the time at new duck.com. There's one about death today.
Starting point is 01:00:41 And there's one yesterday. The one I did before that was about the Kaiju in the Olympic one. Yeah. People like that. apparently. I like that one a lot. Anyway, a lot of fun making these. Do check them out.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Again, back when the internet was free and not trying to get you to sign up for shit or take your information or give you a bunch of cookies, it's just there to see cool shit. Like this podcast. All right, that's it. Brian, you got anything else before we go? No, no.
Starting point is 01:01:07 New soundography going up today, but I can't remember what the episode is about. Let's see if I have it in my this is good audio right here is Brian unpreparedly looking to see um Kaiser chiefs maybe I think possibly so Kaiser Chiefs Kaiser Chiefs might be going up on might be going up on soundography today keep an eye on it cheap trick just went up so I've never heard of Kaiser Chiefs ever that's new you've you've heard them uh I predict a riot was their big hit um I predict a riot
Starting point is 01:01:43 I predict a riot. Like 90s, early 2000s, Brit pop. I mean, they're still around. I'll have to go check them out. It's not ringing a bell. They're really good. I really enjoyed that.
Starting point is 01:01:56 I felt like I got punked yesterday because I've been listening to First Aid Kit. Oh, yeah, they're great. They're really great. Harmony vocals. Unbelievable. So good. Yeah. And their songs tell these great stories.
Starting point is 01:02:07 And there's just really something. I wish they do a new album. It's been a few years now. But anyway, I didn't know they were Swedish. Oh, I didn't know that either. I blew my mind. They're playing this song that sounds like something of a Tarantino movie, and they sound as American as you can get.
Starting point is 01:02:21 And I'm like, oh, man, these guys are great. Where are they? Oh, they're in Sweden and their sisters, and they're currently not making anything. Wow. Anyway, that's all fun and well. I've no idea. Let's play a song now that we all want to hear.
Starting point is 01:02:33 Well, let's go to Ian. He's from Canada, and you can tell because he says, sorry all the time. He requests a great Canadian song by a great Canadian band, Blue Rodeo from Toronto. covered by another great Canadian band, The Washboard Union from Vancouver. Last verse has a great line about a lake. Here is The Washboard Union, and their cover of hasn't hit me yet.
Starting point is 01:02:56 You say that you'll leave that comes as no surprise. Still, I kind of like this feeling. This ain't. It's just like it so strong. Thiscoast.com
