Starting point is 00:00:00 September 23rd is mathematically tied to the most common birthday of the year. It's true. Happy birthday to all of you average people. Support TMS today at patreon.com slash TMS. Coming up on the morning stream, encrypted mush mush. It's hard to draw, Spidey! Punching the monkey milfs. Beer, boop. Is Banana Ramma a color? Sorry bad 1960s cartoon. Orange Juice Jones. Ambilicus fungus. A guy named Stoked. Pulling it out of a spigot. How deep is your point? Purple. Rusty Korean punch bag.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Apple banana copulation. I have nipple Scott. Can you draw me? There's Samsung and my Apple with Tom and more on this episode of the morning stream. There was a fella that I used to know who sat home all day watching videos of a horse and a woman and another woman too doing things that a horse and a woman shouldn't do. Watching that mess is going to take it's a old horse porno's going to damn your soul. You need a little old time religion. You need a little church in us.
Starting point is 00:01:00 A little Bible learning will keep your soul for burning. Yeah, you need a little church in up. 6.7. The morning stream. All the ladies love for lure. Hello and welcome to TMS. This is the morning stream for Wednesday, September 23rd, 2000 and 26. I'm Scott Johnson.
Starting point is 00:01:33 And that is Brian Ibbett. Hello. Hey man. Hey, good morning. How are you? In the middle of the week, we can see as much week behind us as we can see in front of us. Yeah. Went a little quick.
Starting point is 00:01:45 But now it did. But we can also see all of fall laid out in front of us, which is why I'm wearing my fall leaves and squirrels and birds. I like it. I like it a lot. I was noticing yesterday looking up at the eastern mountain range that we're getting all this color now. I got to get up there and do some hiking before. it's cold and stuff. I know. It's such a nice time. Tina's going up Saturday morning. I might, I might go and do some hiking in the mountains this weekend, too. Yeah, and there's so many choices.
Starting point is 00:02:12 There's easy trails, intermediate trails, hard trails. Sure. I'll be doing the easy and maybe intermediates. I ain't doing no hard. Anyway, I hope you all doing good and welcome to the show. We got a little thing that came up very end of the show yesterday that caused, I'm not reading any specific emails, but let's just say we got a ton of emails, most of which said, uh, if it's wrong, then we've all been wrong, meaning Brian and I and everybody else who said Jameson all these years, Joe J. Jonah Jameson. And if you're not, three syllables for that last word. Here he is here with a way oversized fist.
Starting point is 00:02:51 This is from an episode of that old cartoon. For some reason, his hand is massive. Get me pictures of Spider-Man and gloves that fit. And the new foldable I can hold with one hand. he's a freak. And while watching this very same episode that I got this image from, I captured the man himself saying his own name in the cartoon. Oh, Jay Jonah Jameson saying his own name.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Yeah. And it's still counter to what we thought it was, but it's just fun to hear him yell it. So I'm just going to play it. Here you go. I'll bet my credit cards of those two are working together or my name isn't J. Jonah Jameson. Jameson. Wow, Jameson. It just blows my mind because I've always, always heard it as Jameson. There was some email said, if you look around, I don't know where the link is, but there's an interview with Stanley where he says either one is okay.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Oh, okay. Well, that's the diplomatic. That is the most Stanley thing. Yeah. What I was going to do is go track down a clip somewhere in one of the to Tokyo acquires or something where they say his name. Where J.K. Simmons says it or where somebody says it to J.K. Simmons. It seemed like a pain in the ass. Yeah, that's a lot. That's a lot of work. Yeah. That's not good enough of a bit for the show.
Starting point is 00:04:08 No, no. Somebody will find it and submit it. We will give them a lot of credit. But everything else, I mean, that was the other thing we talked about, is that Jameson is never pronounced Jameson anywhere else. It's always Jameson. Yeah. You know, like... The whiskey, whatever.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Probably the whiskey, I think. Yeah. You had one other yesterday. Well, I mentioned Jenna Jameson and... Oh, yeah. And you'd never heard of her. I'd never heard of her. It just made me feel so proud of you, Scott.
Starting point is 00:04:38 I looked her up after and I don't know what moderate means on the Duck, Duck, Go browser when you do an image search. But it isn't what I mean. Yeah, I think moderate means it finds something that's in the... Like, it allows things that are in the middle of the worst picture you could find of Jenna Jameson and the best picture. and the best picture you could find a Jenna Jameson, which is a whole different scale than the worst picture you could find of Anne Hathaway and the best picture you could find of Anne Hathaway. Yeah, it really must be because...
Starting point is 00:05:10 Oh, did you look it up on stream? No, hell no. Okay, okay, Q Star is saying, yeah, you did. Oh, did I? I don't remember doing that, did I? No, I mean, I think he just meant that, yeah, you looked at all. Oh, I see. Yeah, I was curious about it.
Starting point is 00:05:23 And, I mean, the ladies in her, well, it's almost 70s or something. Yeah, yeah. But, uh, so I thought. Yeah. I think we need the new, the new Spider-Man needs to feature Jay Jenna Jameson. Oh, she'd knock it out of the park, man. Get her in there. Get me pictures of Spider-Man.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Get me more photos, Pete. Where did Parker go? That's what this cartoon is. It's constantly Jameson going. Where's Parker? That's the whole, that's the whole cartoon. Right. Where did Parker go?
Starting point is 00:05:53 You know what? Spider-Man did it. That's his whole, that's his whole gig. Yeah. Just a weird old man. I love it. Just love it. Anyway, some other good news.
Starting point is 00:06:02 I launched that my drawings thing yesterday. Here's the good news. Most of you are very respectable people. There have only been a couple that I had to remove, and they were actually removed, not for content, but because they were just like a single line. Oh, sure. It was just somebody testing it out and saying, submit.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Yeah, submit, we're done, blah, blah, blah. Also, I found a bug this morning. It's supposed to assign. three of my favorites down here, but right now it's just doing the most recents, and I've got to figure that out. It even says random, but it's not supposed to be. Anyway, I'll fix it.
Starting point is 00:06:37 But I've fixed a whole bunch of bugs on mobile and some other problems. Didn't add too much, but the good news is you guys have been filling this thing up with cool stuff. Look, Dr. Nicky put a little cool pattern in here. Oh, that's very cool. Yeah, I like what she did.
Starting point is 00:06:51 No goats were harmed in the making of that pattern. I like this one from Old Muldger. There's some real, some real, those are jugs of P one there. That's a very good jug of pee, by the way. Yeah, I like that a lot. And then one of my favorites here, if I can find it. I'm going to have to scroll for a second.
Starting point is 00:07:07 I know from a couple listeners, they've got their kids doing it, so they're going to get a lot of kids stuff. Oh, someone did Spouter Man. Spooderman. Love Spooderman. Oh, here's the bad news. One of the bugs I found I had to squash. Ooh, I love this one right here.
Starting point is 00:07:21 That's great. That was really good. This is my favorite, I think. Oh, that's very, yeah, very liquid television. It's supposed to be featured. It's not. I don't know why. Someone named Noseerson made a nose.
Starting point is 00:07:33 So that stayed. Anyway, we're pages and pages of this now, lots of creative stuff. Here's the problem. It gets to page nine or so, and I notice that it, I'm like, wait, where's that dude I did? And where's Brian's Spider-Man face and,
Starting point is 00:07:51 and, um, uh, oh yeah, and Frankenstein. And Frankenstein. They weren't showing up. And I went, what is this? So I dig in there.
Starting point is 00:07:59 and it turns out the way the host works, when you generate images based on JSON data, it has a hard limit by default on the script that's on the host that I don't control that, or I can, I just didn't know it was there. So they have this little script that kind of runs that makes all this happen. It's like a little agent. And I have to go in there and tell it,
Starting point is 00:08:21 don't cap it at 100. It had it capped at 100. Gotcha. So after 100, it was just dropping. It would drop them on the other end like a straw. New in, new out, right? And we don't need to, there's zero reason to do that. So I went and fixed it and changed it to unlimited.
Starting point is 00:08:35 So now it'll keep everything. But it turns out because that stuff was just like encrypted mush, mush, they're gone. Oh, well, that's all right. You know what? No Spooder. Well, Spider-Man from Brian. Yeah, Sputerman's still there. But think of my Spider-Man as a snowflake that was there, gave its joy to those around it who saw it and then disappear.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Yeah, think of it that way. I like it. It's an ephemeral. It's like a... Tears and rain. It's like life. Yeah. No, that's right.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Tears and rain. And then you go. Tears and rain. And then just put your head down in slow motion and finally let that dove go. Stephanie Inipetz posted a YouTube video. I wonder if this is... Looks like it might be a movie mention. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:09:19 From the Toby McGuire films, probably. Okay. See, this is what we like. When someone else does the work, we're into it. Yep. Okay, so I'm hit and play. She says go to the one and a half minute mark. All right, I can do that.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Stephanie, just for future, you can share time stamps on those things. I'm not going to complain. That involves an app and she doesn't want to do that. Yeah, that's true. Wait a minute, how far in? Minute what? One minute, 30. 30.
Starting point is 00:09:45 All right, we'll go to 22, just to be safe. Okay, here we go. The area of New York is pleased to present our guest of honor. He's the first man to play football on the moon. the handsome, the heroic, the delicious. Captain John Jameson. John, okay, here we go. I heard Jameson.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Did you hear Jameson as well? No, I heard Jameson as well. Or is it so close that we're just Jameson, Jameson, Jameson. I definitely heard three syllables. I did, I did too. Yeah. You know what? I'm going to go do it one more time.
Starting point is 00:10:19 Captain John Jameson. Yeah, I heard Jameson. John Jameson. All right. Right before he became Manwolf. I mean Venom. Because they retcon that stuff. Shit.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Yeah. John Jameson became Manwolf in the comics, people. Yeah. He went to the moon, came back, and became Manwolf. It's ridiculous, by the war. Because of the moon, I guess. Yeah, because of the moons and wolves. It was the 60s, man.
Starting point is 00:10:42 They were just throwing stuff at the wall. They didn't want to introduce the whole black suit thing by Spider-Man going to the Secret Wars planet with the Beyonder and a hundred of his best friends and enemies and pulling it out of a spigot. Yep. Yep. Well, I think what this has taught us is that current canon is Jameson. So, sorry 1960s bad cartoon. It's the way of it now. Yep. It's the way of it.
Starting point is 00:11:09 This is the time we live in. That's right. What is supposed to do? I mean, I know it was 2001 or whatever it was, but anyway, let's get to, oh, so go use it. Mydrawings.com is the point. Go get some more doodles in there, more nonsense. The more you do, the more I can test, and the more I can fix bugs and issue. choose and there was all kinds of mobile stuff I missed and now it's all good.
Starting point is 00:11:30 So anyway, go enjoy it. The more you draw, the more you tooth, the more you tooth, the better you feel. The better you feel let's have my drawings with every meal. That's right. It's something like that. And a reminder about it that there's no signing up. They don't do, there's no cookies or any kind of nothing. It's just for fun like the internet used to be.
Starting point is 00:11:51 All right? I'm making a stand here. We're going back to 1998. Eight. When is the banner ad start? Can I buy a banner ad to put on your side, Scott? Can I punch the monkey? How do I punch the monkey? How do I punch the monkey? How can I get milfs in my area looking for me? So some of that will be familiar to some of you and some of it won't. Yes, exactly. I wonder if the monkey thing is still like knowledge for anyone under 30. Probably not. Probably not. Probably not. All right, we got to get to a game.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Yeah. It's game time. And let's see if he's even joined. He has because he's awesome. Oh, that's good. It is good. Reload the page. Oh, yeah, I should log in.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Am I? I am. All right. Good deal. Let's go ahead and play this intro here for this whole thing. Lo and behold, we have one Brian Dunaway with us today to play a game. Hello, Brian Dunaway. Oh, hi, Scott, Brian.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Hey, man. What's going on, dude? How are you? You know, the usuals? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I went for a walk this morning and I got just started drizzling.
Starting point is 00:13:04 It's like, oh, I just be fine. Yeah. No, the rain did not. You didn't start drizzling, whatever that even means. No, no, I don't even know how I would drizzle, but yeah. But no, it was the rain and it was outside. And I was like, it's just raining just a little bit. And then it ended up raining more.
Starting point is 00:13:20 And then eventually I was just wet. I was just walking in the rain. Yeah. And I saw you in him. And I. in the rain. Welcome to karaoke Wednesday. Wow.
Starting point is 00:13:34 That was pretty awesome. My life had begun so long without thinking about that song. Is that Millie Vanilly? No, that was blamed on the rainless Millie Vanilly. That was... No. One hit wonder. Shalimar.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Something like that. Shalmay. Shabba. Shabba da-dababab. I have no idea. who sang that. I do remember it on the radio and thinking, this is a bad song. Oh, you didn't think that. What about the part where you said
Starting point is 00:14:03 silly rabbit tricks are for kids? And then you're like, I forgot about that. All right. Fine. All right. I mean, I know I should always celebrate tricks references, but it's right. It's hard for me. Anyway, Brian is here. The other Brian is ready. I'm Scott. And let's play a game. So Brian, let's play this game. How does this game work?
Starting point is 00:14:21 Please explain it to the people. Yes. It's time to play the tadpool. E-fewed. I've surveyed the tadpool on some nerdy. topics and Scott and Brian will have to predict the answers that they gave us. It is their job. Their job to see how many of those answers they can guess at the end of the game. Two. We will add up all the points, two.
Starting point is 00:14:39 And the winner will actually be winning two prizes for their listener contestant, unless you run out or the runner-up. And contestants will be pulled from our supporters at Patreon at patreon.com slash TMS. Scott is playing for Paul Saint-Germaine, the third. Yes. A familiar name.
Starting point is 00:14:55 A familiar of a gentleman. And a lovely gin. And Brian is playing for Matt Bouget. Oh, Matt Bouget. Bouget. Bouget. Sounds like a fancy wine. Where's Barry to help us understand?
Starting point is 00:15:10 Barry. Yeah. All right. Well, let's go ahead and get to it. Orange Jules. How did we forget that? Oh, it was orange juice Jones that did walk into the rain? Hold on.
Starting point is 00:15:18 The guy's name is Oran. Oran quotes juice. Yeah. Arn juice. Yes. Well, that kind of makes me want to be depressed. stay inside all day. I don't like it. It's a terrible name.
Starting point is 00:15:31 But he won't see he walking in the range. So perfect. That's right. Exactly. Yeah. Awful. What do you want with your breakfast? I don't know. I've kind of got a little bit of an orange juice Jones today. I think I got there because Johnny Kemp was on the radio for some reason this morning. Talking
Starting point is 00:15:47 about his Friday night just got paid. I'm like, what is like Wednesday? This is not the right day to play this. I don't know. I was like, what about all those other songs? Yeah, Johnny Kemp like, like, died like in the Caribbean or something. Like, like, oh,
Starting point is 00:16:01 I remember this guy, the Bahama guy. Um, he did, um, he did, uh, discapade Friday night.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Yeah. Sorry, I'm Derell and everything. Apologies. It's all right. He was like a distant cousin to like Rick James. It felt like he wasn't. But he felt like.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Yeah. All right. Let's do this. Okay. Let's do it. Uh, put your hands upon your buzzers and get ready to answer this. We asked 455.
Starting point is 00:16:27 10. had poolers to name a band with a color in its name. Scott. Oh, my gosh, my brain. I just went, I have to say what I was thinking. In Living Color. It's in Living Color. Sure.
Starting point is 00:16:41 That's pretty good. Why not? Show me in Living Color. Shit. The band is called Living Color. The TV show was called In Living Color. Oh, that's right. Gosh. Dang.
Starting point is 00:16:52 A double whammy, dude. What's the opposite of a victory pickle? at that. All right, Brian, all the answers available to you. What have you got? Okay. All right, this is a little easier when you had a little second to think. I'm going to go with it's almost time.
Starting point is 00:17:09 You know what? You wait me up when September ends. I'm going to say it's some green day. They had a dukey in their name too, but I don't think that's a color. No. Show me. Green day. Well, no, dukey.
Starting point is 00:17:21 Duky colored. Yeah. Yeah. If you say something is dukey colored, people know exactly what color you're talking about. So yeah, they don't go, oh, it's a nice chartreuse, is it? No, it's poo brown, you dummies. Exactly. Very good.
Starting point is 00:17:35 I can sing some doo-do brown. Yeah, yeah. That's right. Number one answer on the board. Congratulations, Brian. That means, you know, regardless, you got control the board. As long as you answered any of the answers on the board, you've gotten control the board. Right.
Starting point is 00:17:47 I got you. I got you. Let's keep it going. You got nine answers left. What do you got? The first thing that actually came to mind was Pink Floyd. Oh, duh. Gosh, dang it.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Sure. Sure. Which one's pink? Which whichever one, I think it's the guy named Floyd. Very good. Excellent. Show me pink Floyd. And number two answers. Pink Floyd. Let's see. Color, color, color names.
Starting point is 00:18:14 Oh my gosh. Now I'm blanking. And there's a fire truss going on the road. Oh, no. Is there a band called Red Fire Truck? No. No. Um,
Starting point is 00:18:24 let's see. Um, I'm going to start the timer on him anyway. Oh my God. It's fine. Uh, uh, uh,
Starting point is 00:18:32 black Sabbath. Oh shit. Black Sabbath. All right. That's not really a color. So they used to tell us. Yeah. What is the absence of color?
Starting point is 00:18:42 Yeah. Or didn't that get debunked or something? I can't remember. I can buy a can of paint. It says black on it. That's a color. Show me black Sabbath. Third.
Starting point is 00:18:51 I'm going down the roll. Number three. I know. Let's see how long you can keep this going. Ooh, now I want to, hmm, all right, let's see. There's the, oh, I don't want to say those words. I'm just, I started doing it by just naming colors.
Starting point is 00:19:05 You're going to start in time, right? I know. I mean, that's not a bad way to do it. Think of colors and think if there's a bad right. Right, right. Yeah, I just go white and I think of a band, white stripes. Ah, shit. Is that a color?
Starting point is 00:19:20 It's a color. It's a color. Yep. Show me white stripes. He's doing it, folks. Do I get extra points? No. If you do this all the way to number 10, you get all the, I mean, you get all the points, obviously, but you get a prize of something.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Yeah, you're getting a Steam game code out of this. So I'm looking at the color blue right now. Poorly weighted Spider-Man Christmas one of it. Yeah. A front heavy Spider-Man head. That's right. Great. I'm looking at some blue right now and thinking of blue oyster.
Starting point is 00:19:54 cult. That seems like a band. I'll probably be way down the list, but I'll bet it's here. Show me, Blue Oyster Colt. No? You skipped one. Yeah. Yeah, you skipped one. So for people listening, he's got one, two, three, four, and six in that order.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Dang it. Crazy. And by the way, kudos to the people who wrote Bloister Cult with the correct placement of the umlaught over the O. Yeah. Nice. Nicely done. Very good.
Starting point is 00:20:24 Oh, my gosh. Sparring a hundred different spinal tap jokes. Johnny Kemp. Oh, Johnny, Johnny, Jimmy, well, stop, shut up. You're messing me. What is Johnny Kemp? What is Kemp colored?
Starting point is 00:20:42 Right. Johnny colored, I guess. Right, yeah. Oh, my gosh. Now I'm thinking now, let me go back through. The common one's white. There's the black eyed peas.
Starting point is 00:20:53 There are also, that's a black. Yeah, black eyed peas. Yes. Black eyed peas. Sure. All right. Show me black eyed peas. Oh.
Starting point is 00:21:03 You were robbed on that one. That should have been there. Yeah. As a matter of fact, I'll even tell you black eyed peas were in the top. Where were they? They were number 16. So pretty close to the top.
Starting point is 00:21:14 Yeah. I'm a little worried about this one, but let's stay with white and do white stripes. Sorry, sorry. Sorry. Sorry. I was looking at white stripes. White zombies is what I meant.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Oh. Oh, sure. All right. show me white zombie oh no I thought she's going to go where I was going with
Starting point is 00:21:34 okay go ahead number 29 was white zombie that should have been higher yeah lame now that you said that I'm now I'm afraid to use the one that I thought
Starting point is 00:21:43 you were going to say because I'm going to say it the black keys fine all right show me he already got this he's a lonely boy
Starting point is 00:21:52 show me black keys number nine oh nice destroying me here. Number nine. Six of the answers have been revealed. All three have gone to Brian Dunway with a score of 25 to Scott's zero.
Starting point is 00:22:06 Still not mathematically eliminated, though. Oh. Oh, how about just colors? Like pink. Yeah, why not? Do pink. Yeah, yeah. Just pink.
Starting point is 00:22:18 All right. If you spell it correctly, you have to spell it correctly. With it, she's got the, she's got like the exclamation on the mark for the eye or something like that. She does. indeed, yep. They put it under pants or whatever they do. Anyway, since you spelled it correctly, show me pink.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Number 13, just out, just outside the top 10. And I can't stop singing red red wine and freaking those are song titles. Yeah. And UB 40 does not contain a color. No, umber is the you and UB 40 is for umber. Yeah, yeah. It's for umber. Um, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:52 Um, I'm gonna go with, uh, uh, the red hot chili peppers. Red. Oh, the red hot. Red hot. Oh. Chili peppers. Yeah, yeah. Even though it's more of a temperature denotion, I think it's still a color.
Starting point is 00:23:06 I mean, it's a color in its name. It's, uh, yeah. Uh, show me red hot chili peppers. Okay. And then unshow me the red hot chili peppers. Number five. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:16 You take the scout up to five points. Okay. It's the one he missed, eh? Hmm. Yeah. Uh-huh. Um, I'm scared to go. Oh, man, looking at colors does help.
Starting point is 00:23:35 But then what's the name of that band? It's deep purple. Deep purple. Deep purple. Yeah. Deep. I like how you went up on the deep purple. They're the ones that tried to smoke water.
Starting point is 00:23:44 Yeah. Show me deep purple. It's called bong. Dang it. Number seven. Okay. Scott's making a rally. If he gets these last two, he wins.
Starting point is 00:23:53 And what an incredible rally this would be. Yeah. That would be amazing. Yeah, 12 points to brands 25. Scott. Can the judge tell me if it's, well, Pink's an individual. So I guess we've already proven that it can be a band or individual. That's the next one I was thinking about too. And they, yeah, pink was number 13.
Starting point is 00:24:16 And there's a whole slew of one, one name that I keep thinking of. I keep going, uh, hmm. I got one that's a favorite from the 80s that is spelled wrong, though. How about spelling? Doesn't, Spelling is fine. All right. I like you.
Starting point is 00:24:30 Spelling is fine. What does that mean? I like, misspelling. I guess misspelling would be fine. How's that? Yeah. So in the 80 or in the, yeah, in the 80s, we had that beer bo, bo. So I'm going to go with those, I'm going to go in yellow.
Starting point is 00:24:44 Yeah, absolutely. Show me, uh, Boris Blank and Dieter Meyer and the band, yellow. Oh, no. Damn it. That's too bad. It is too bad. One of my favorites. I still have a ton of yellow CDs.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Only one person said yellow. Jerks. Besides Scott just now. Oh, yellow. Yeah, only 12 movies used that song, but only one person. That one song. Nobody ever used pinball cha-cha, which is just a, it's a crime. It's a travesty.
Starting point is 00:25:14 It's a great song. Love it. Yeah, okay. My last strike, though, and if I miss it, Scott could run the board. He could run the board. I kind of want to see him to do it. Yeah. So I'm going to try to be stupid here.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Okay. I want to say Bobby Brown because it's hilarious. But I think James Brown has the Of the Browns, yeah. The more known, well-known, sure. All right. It's a good call. He's not really.
Starting point is 00:25:49 James Brown. Show me James Brown. No. I don't. I'm trying to see if anyone, it's really funny, but James Brown, surprisingly, I think people really did, for the most part, try to stick to groups. Yeah, but James Brown. All right, Scott, you got two answers left on the board.
Starting point is 00:26:09 Well, I'm definitely not doing Jackson Brown. He's even more obscure. Yes. Oh, my gosh, dude. All right. Did we do, we did white stripes? I tried white zombie. You tried to do it again.
Starting point is 00:26:26 Yeah. you tried to do white stripes the second time um white snake oh that was good white snake i'm scared all right here scott goes again on his own picking the roadies ever the only road he's ever known show me white snake oh yeah white snake uh uh white snake where are they they were mid yeah 19 white snake they're They're sitting in the car watching somebody dancing her hood right now. I'm going to open this chat and see. I'm going to be mad at myself.
Starting point is 00:27:03 Oh, black pink is a brilliant one. They've got two colors in their name. Yeah. And Lisa, who's been spinning off from that has been doing fabulous the last of the weeks. And Rose A, not to mention. And Rose A as well, yeah. Not on there, though.
Starting point is 00:27:17 Not on there. Number 12 was black pink. Here, I'll tell you the colors and we can see if you can get it from there. Red is in the, in our number eight band. I thought about it. Red. Red. Red barn. Wow, that's hard. Red.
Starting point is 00:27:35 I'll help you. I'll help you. Don't think of red. Don't think of red as the first word in the name of the band. Okay. Drop dead Fred. Who's red? Real red.
Starting point is 00:27:47 I mean, that does technically contain. Drop dead Fred does contain the word red. That's true. You can't spell drop dead Fred without red. You can't spell Fred. Uh, wait. It's the last, is it the last word? It is the last word.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Oh, is it Tedpool? Is it simply read? It is simply red as number eight. That's number eight. That's number eight. You should have said you guys are thinking too hard. It's real simply red. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:28:16 I'm not going to do that. Holden back to years. Why does it better? That's that song, right? Holding back the years. Yeah, exactly. Very good. And number 10.
Starting point is 00:28:26 that's a surprising one to me, but it is a band that contains the word blue. I mean, I probably could give you 10, 10 guesses in you probably would. Blues Traveler. Oystercult. Do we do that? Blue's Traveler should have been higher. Blues Traveler is number 17. Blue Oyster Colt?
Starting point is 00:28:44 Oh, we already have. There's another blue thing. What, crap. Yeah. More, another more modern band. I mean, in comparison to a lot of the ones we have. They sing all the depressing songs. They do.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Yep, and that band is called Blue October. October, Blue October, yes. I feel like I don't know who that is. I don't know. Blues Brothers was your number 11. That would have gotten you a bonus. Some of the other ones on the list. Black Flag, Blue Man Group, Cream,
Starting point is 00:29:13 The Black Crows, green jelly or green jello, moody blues, Pearl Jam, Red House Painters. Pearl, I use, Pearl White. Red jumpsuit apparatus, red velvet, yellow card, Aerosmith, I don't know why somebody put Aerosmith, but okay. August Burns Red, Big Black, Black, Black Daly and Murder, Black Flames, Black Label Society, Blood Orange, Blue Bell, Blue Bell Ice Cream.
Starting point is 00:29:39 Not a band. Not a band. Not a band. Not a band. Not a band. Maybe a local band. Blue Bonnet, Blue Chew, Blue Peter, Blue Rodeo, Blue Suede, I should say. Go to the doctor if you got Blue Peter. Cromio, Conan Gray, Goldschlager, Green Machine. B.M. JetBlue, King Crimson. Wow.
Starting point is 00:30:01 Maroon 5 is a very good one right there. King Crimson is one, right? Isn't that a band? King Crimson is a band. Absolutely, yeah. It was a supergroup with a bunch of folks from other bands. That's right. Metallica.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Who's a stretch? Something is metallic colored, I guess. Plain white teas. Red Cross, red stripe. The shocking blue. I'm your V. A Tangerine Dream
Starting point is 00:30:28 And yellow Oh no, I'm sorry, yellow magic orchestra No yellow card The yellow card was up there Oh is it up there? The yellow card was 30 Yeah, it was the The yellow card was the last one that had More than one person saying it
Starting point is 00:30:43 There's some alternative band called Orange and Lemons Those could both be Oh really I wonder if there might be a I wonder if they're an XTC cover band Because that was the name of an XTC A really good XTC album was
Starting point is 00:30:54 Oranges and Lemons Yeah, my big Well, all I know is Brian won and got the victory pickle. You get a victory pickle. Congratulations. So does our winner. Brian, what do they win? Yeah. Matt Bouget is going to get from Zamabee is going to get a copy of I Love Sky and Splendor. Ooh, is that Splendor based on the board game? I don't know. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:31:17 Before we give that one up. I don't have no idea. It probably is by the guess. just knowing it exists should be enough. It is. So instead, listen, we get to do this every once in a while, people. It's fair.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Call of Juarez. Oh, Call of Juarez is an excellent alternative. Very good. That's great. As a matter of fact, some might say better because he won't get a used code from me. So congratulations on that. But don't worry, Paul St. Germain III. You're going to get a copy of Carcassan.
Starting point is 00:31:55 tiles and tactics. Speaking of video games based on really good board games. Yeah, the Carcassone game adaptation or video game is very good. It's quite well done. I had to tell you guys something about real quick about Cobra because we're film sack guys here. Yeah. Before I forget about it. Last night,
Starting point is 00:32:13 11 o'clock at night, I suddenly hear really loud noise coming from what sounds like a TV. I thought it was a neighbor because I have our windows open right now. I thought it was, I didn't know what it was. I was like, Nick's not even home from work. Like, we don't know what it ain't. We don't know what's going on. Just this loud sound.
Starting point is 00:32:30 And I decided to go on a little hunt. I come downstairs. I walk into my office where the sound seems to be coming from. And this screen over here is playing at full volume. Cobra with Sylvester Stallone, the movie Cobra. And it's just playing. Just out of nowhere it started playing it? Only thing I can think of is somehow the remote upstairs,
Starting point is 00:32:52 which is also a Roku, remote triggered this somehow. I don't know. It just started playing. And so the TV is, this thing is off normally, except during shows right now it's got you guys up here. But during the rest of the night, it's off. Somehow this thing is on and playing Cobrit full volume.
Starting point is 00:33:12 That's weird. No idea what the hell that was about. At least it wasn't stop or my mom will shoot. No, that, you know, of all the Sylvester Stallone projects, it could have played. It could be way worse. It could have been over the top. pop or something.
Starting point is 00:33:28 Actually, I kind of like that movie. I do too. Me halfway with that one. Yeah, that's got some... That would have been fine. It's got some nice music. All right. Don't away tonight.
Starting point is 00:33:36 Me and you, 4 p.m. Mountain Time. We'll get together and do a little play retro. After that, a little watch retro. It's going to be a fun night. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:44 I can't wait. I can't wait. I can't wait to get my, yeah, my mutant powers on as we play the X-Men Legends game from 2004 squad-based. Yeah. Popular bad-striction.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Yeah. Very, very good action RPG. It was, yeah. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. And their cool Diablo ripoff that was great on PC, and I forgot the name. Marvel. Ultimate Alliance.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Ultimate Alliance. Yeah. Love did it. It was the top down or not top down, but yeah, Diablo style. Yeah. And that's what this is, too. Shut it down and it pisses me off. That game was so good.
Starting point is 00:34:17 Anyway. Is the Tokon fighting coming out sometime soon? Oh, that's way out. It's been out for a month or something, I think. Oh, really? That long. Okay, got it. For whatever reason, I thought it was October. Was there another one that's coming out October?
Starting point is 00:34:29 Maybe three weeks. I don't know. Another Marvel thing? It's not, yeah, you're right. The Tokon Legends already came out. There's another one that's coming out. Shoot. Marvel game? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Another Marvel. I thought it was the Marvel fighting game, but that is Tokon.
Starting point is 00:34:44 I don't know. I don't know of another major one anyway. Oh, that's an older one. The cell shaded, no, not Wolverine. I know that's already out. It was another side-scroller fighting with more cell-shaded I don't know. I don't know what that is. Yeah, I can't remember.
Starting point is 00:35:02 I know there's a new He-Man game that plays like that. Cosmic Invasion, that's it. That one's been out for a while or that one's still? I don't know about where that one is. Is that one not out yet? Cosmic Invasion. That one had the really cool. Been out for a while?
Starting point is 00:35:17 Okay. Oh, yeah, it looks like it's been out. Oh, December 2025. Okay, God, that thing's been out a lot longer than I have. Oh. Oh. That's right. Bow and John played this and I forgot all about it. Okay. Yeah. It's good though. It's really good.
Starting point is 00:35:31 Really? Okay. Yeah. Well regarded. It's the same people that did the Turtles remake thing that they did, which was also really good. Yeah. Yeah. It looks like that. That style. Well, tonight we'll be talking about none of that. Instead, we'll talk about that X-Men game from the early odds. And it's very exciting to even think that that was more than 20 years ago, 22 years ago, to be exact. So it is retro. Brian Dunaway, kiss our butts. All right, he's out.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Now, here's the news that I like to share with everybody. Okay. As you can tell, I'm pushing buttons here. A little stallie, stally, y'allie. All right, it's time for this. Isn't technology wonderful? It sure can be, but only when Tom Merritt joins us on the line, and he's doing that right now. Hi, Tom, how are you?
Starting point is 00:36:19 I am on the line. Yep, you're on the line. Hold the line, Tom, because you're on the line. On it. Hold the light. Oh, yeah. Love isn't always on time. Not always.
Starting point is 00:36:30 Sometimes. Love isn't always on time. You know, for a guy knee deep in the K-pop world, you sure do remember the classics. I like it. Were you shouting Black Pink during that last Tad Pooley feud game? I don't know. Oh, he didn't hear it. He wasn't feeding it to me.
Starting point is 00:36:46 Oh, sure. And I turn it off before I joined. Makes sense. Yeah, you don't want echoes and stuff? What a nightmare. No, definitely not. That's what Tom's a pro. We're playing tadpooly feud to name a game that, or I'm actually a game, name a band that has a color in its name.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Oh, yeah. And we thought Black Pink would be there. Yeah, they have two in it. I thought that would be in the top ten. It wasn't even in. It was 12. Yeah. It was a red rider.
Starting point is 00:37:12 Oh, that's another good one, but it wasn't in there. It was not in there. But we had like, you know, white snake, white stripes. Blue oyster cold. That was in the top ten. What was number one again, Brian? Green Day. Green Day.
Starting point is 00:37:22 That's right. Green Day, Black Sabbath, white stripes, black keys. Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's good stuff. Deep purple. But worry not because now that you're here, we can finally get this tech answer that we've been waiting for all this week.
Starting point is 00:37:35 John Marseo. You're going to have forever be better at Korean than I am, and I grew up with three Korean people. So what was that saying about me? I was really sad. I didn't get to see her brother during Nurtacular. So I could spend horrible Korean at him and have him laugh at me. That's all right.
Starting point is 00:37:51 He's not too just. He's not very much. He does get corrective occasionally. That's actually helpful. Yeah. Yeah. It's not too bad. He's also a freak. I found that Koreans are like that. When I've tried to speak Korea, they tend to be like, oh, no, that's not right. Yeah, no, they'll let you know. They don't. They don't. It's a very nice way, but it's, yeah. Yeah. Unless you're from there, they get really weird. If you're from there, come to America for a long time, forget the language, go back and then sound rusty at it. They get mad at that. Yeah. I can see that. The cultural thing, but my brother got punched in the nose once for that.
Starting point is 00:38:25 Oh my gosh. Yeah. There was some extenuating circumstances like the guy. I'm going to say, probably more to that story. The guy that punched him may have been, you know, severely inebriated or something. I don't know what the full story is, but yeah. It's, it's EAO, not E So-O. Pow.
Starting point is 00:38:42 Take that, jerk. All right. We're going to get to this question. This is Tom's time to answer a hard tech question. That's what we do on Wednesdays. I don't know how hard this one is, but it's an interesting one. Candid Con wrote. Candid con.
Starting point is 00:38:56 He says, My Android friend. Hell's heart. He questions us. That's right. That's my favorite line from that movie. I'm glad it is. You brought that up.
Starting point is 00:39:06 All right. My Android friend says the new Apple foldable uses a Samsung screen. Is this true? And if it is, are all these quote unquote competitors, or as he wrote, competitors,
Starting point is 00:39:16 using each other's stuff and just pretending like they're not working together? How does that stuff work? Oh, my. It's a little incestuous, Tom. How come? Let me blow your mind a little further, CandidCon. Some iPhone models use Samsung displays.
Starting point is 00:39:31 Some use LG displays within the same model. So you could, depending on which one you buy, your iPhone 18 might have an LG display or a Samsung display in it. I shouldn't say iPhone 18 because I haven't checked, but in some models, that's accurate. And the reason is, and this is one of those things I love. love helping people to understand because it kind of blows everybody's mind when they realize it. Samsung and LG as well are huge conglomerates. So we think of Samsung as the people who make the TVs and the phones, right? Because those are the most popular items they sell in the United States. But they also sell insurance. They have some retail operations. And one of their, well,
Starting point is 00:40:19 chips are probably their most successful. outlet. They make RAM that's in everything. You'll find Samsung RAM all over the place, including Apple products as well. But they also make displays. And that display section of Samsung is a separate company from the section that makes the phones. So the Samsung phones do tend to use the Samsung displays, unless you get down to their cheaper ones, some of the cheaper entry-level Samsung phones will use displays from a Chinese manufacturer that makes them cheaper than Samsung does. But here's another one that'll blow you your mind. Some Samsung televisions use LG displays, because LG makes a certain type of Q-O-LED that Samsung doesn't make yet. So if you want to wrap your
Starting point is 00:41:11 head around it, it's not that they're pretending to compete. It's that these companies are so big that they have different arms and those different arms have different goals. Probably the one that most people in the audience would be familiar with is Sony, where you have Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Games entertainment. And the games people and the Sony Pictures people don't always talk to each other. And then you also have Sony Electronics. And most famously back in the 2000s, you had Sony Electronics making ways for you to rip movies. And then you had Sony pictures trying to fight people from doing that. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:51 It is, when you have companies this big, they'll have subsidiaries that are separated from each other. And in fact, when you see things like, oh, a Samsung display is being used by Apple or you're seeing an LG display being used by Samsung, that's a sign of healthy competition. It means that none of those companies have such a corner on the market that they don't have to use parts from competitors that are competing with them in other areas. Right, right. So, like, the one example I thought of is something my dad used to talk about. Toyota and Subaru competitors in the market.
Starting point is 00:42:23 Yeah, yeah. Have, let's see, they co-developed Toyota GR-86 and the Subaru BRZ. They have the same chassis, the same interior layout. Like, essentially, it's the same car. Foundation, exactly. And then they build on top of that. Like the old Ford Mercury thing that used to be about 80s. Yeah, and that is exactly this sort of thing.
Starting point is 00:42:44 like Mazda and Fiat. What was another one I read about? Oh, Toyota and BMW, they had for the new super, they use a BMW engine block thing, and so they partner with them. But internationally, or on a dealership level,
Starting point is 00:42:59 you're not going in there and they're all friends hanging, holding hands, but it doesn't, like you said, these are, they're massive. Those are co-designs.
Starting point is 00:43:06 What, what con here, candid con, sorry, is identifying is more of a, just like, it's a, you're looking for the best parts supplier, right?
Starting point is 00:43:17 And you don't care that Samsung's display subsidiary happens to be in the same big conglomerate as Samsung's phone subsidiary because Samsung's phone subsidiary has to buy the displays from Samsung's display subsidiary. Now, granted, up at the top, that keeps all the money in the company, but it's a drag on the bottom line of Samsung Electronics
Starting point is 00:43:38 to buy the displays from Samsung display, right? because that gets charged across the company. So if they can find one cheaper or better, they will. And you see this with Samsung chips. You don't always have the Samsung chip inside the Samsung phones. And in fact, the same galaxy model will often have a Qualcomm chip in North America, but they'll have one of Samsung's own chips in Asia. And a lot of that just has to do with supply lines and costs and all of that sort of thing.
Starting point is 00:44:09 So I just thought of the one that in my life is probably the most prominent is a current one, which is Sony PlayStation for all of their online stuff, their cloud play, all of it, is run on Microsoft Azure servers. That's another good example. Which sounds like the ultimate like in bed with each other thing. But then again, you're talking about a totally different arm of Microsoft. Azure is the cloud services provider. And they have a separate goals and separate P&L from. from Xbox, which is an entirely separate division.
Starting point is 00:44:42 Yeah, that stuff's wild to me, because we're not even talking about just parts and that sort of thing. We're talking actual services sometimes, make that crossover. And that's actually, I think with Microsoft, they're just divisions, whereas with Samsung, they're actually separate companies
Starting point is 00:44:55 all owned by the Samsung conglomerate. Yeah. So there's even more separation. Yeah, and more, you know, Gemini, Google's Gemini backing Apple's new series stuff. Right. Yeah, that's another good example of it. It's like, oh, we have a technology provider. Apple also uses Amazon, AWS, and Google Cloud to provide ICloud, right?
Starting point is 00:45:13 So again, these are all signs of a healthy market when you see this because it means Google can't just shut people out. They have to sell their stuff. And Apple can't just run all their stuff themselves. They have to go and buy things. So you want to see that kind of stuff. It also means that these companies are incredibly huge, that they're so huge that they can have departments that don't whether the other department succeeds or not. Yeah. Now, if you walk into your kitchen and an apple is doing it with a banana,
Starting point is 00:45:44 then I'd start to worry about the crossover. I'd worry about a lot of things if you're seeing that. I'd check the salad you just did. Check your Waldorf. All right. Well, that's really interesting. I think a lot of people maybe knew a lot of this, but I think there's some people that just see any kind of directional change of a company to say, well, we're making their displays,
Starting point is 00:46:07 but we also compete with them in the marketplace. I think you see that as some kind of, like, it helps fuel the concept of a war between these. It seems wrong, right? It's cats and dogs sleeping together mass insanity. Yeah, yeah. Is it cats and dogs sleeping together? It's living.
Starting point is 00:46:22 Living together. I mean, I don't know what Ghostbusters Tom watched. Well, see, there's a different release from Samsung than there is. Oh, I see. Not to be confused with cat and chicken porn. No, no, no, no. Wendy, Wendy will have to tell us about it. I don't know where your head went.
Starting point is 00:46:38 I thought they were just taking a nice little cozy little. Yeah, sleeping. Sure, sure. Like cats and dogs are prone to do occasionally. Yeah, yes. Well, that's all well and good. Candid con. We hope we were both candid and, no, not con like, no.
Starting point is 00:46:52 We hope we were candid in our answer today, and we hope it helps you understand a little bit of them. There you know, the pros and cons. There you go. The pros and cons go to the cake. Leave it to Tom to make it weirder than the apple and the banana doing it in the kitchen. Somehow, it was possible. I was trying to get Scott cover?
Starting point is 00:47:06 Yeah, thank you. Thanks for the interference. I appreciate it. Tom Merritt, there's always something going on where you're at. Tell people more this week. Yes, if you want more of my malapropisms. Head on over to Daily Tech News Show, DailyTechnewshow.com. I haven't mentioned this anywhere outside of our Discord.
Starting point is 00:47:27 Brand new website design. Oh, cool. Can we look at it right now? I guess we can. Yeah, it's live. Go check it out. I actually haven't loaded it in the past. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:47:39 Hopefully it's... DailyTechnewshow.com. But yeah, it's one of the things that the patrons really were helpful on is going through in the staging and making sure that everything look good and coming up with some cool ideas and stuff. There's a couple fun Easter eggs in there and everything.
Starting point is 00:47:56 But it makes it easier to figure out what we're doing. And one of the things we're doing is every Friday doing a live stream. It is our big question of the week. We have a fun little debate. around the big question in tech every week, and Iaz Akhtar will be joining us this Friday. So pop on in at 2 p.m. Eastern to join us at daily tech news show.com slash live.
Starting point is 00:48:19 Bringing the old family back together. I like it. Tom Merritt, it is always a pleasure, and he is Ace to Tech on all the socials if you want to go follow him on those things. Tom Merritt, have a fantastic week. Thanks, everybody. See you next time. See ya. Bye. He doodled something on my drawings, but he didn't use his name.
Starting point is 00:48:36 name so I don't know what he did. Oh, really? So he just told you that he did it and he didn't tell you what he did. Yeah, and I kind of want to know. But I was trying to, I was like, I'm going to guess, but then I thought that's dangerous. Why would I guess? Yeah. Oh, no. It's a good reminder that I need to, uh, that I need to put some new doodles on there.
Starting point is 00:48:53 Yeah, hop on there to make some new stuff. Someone just did fart gas here recently. It looks like Chuck Byers is in there. We got a teenage mutant ninja turtle. Which one's the one with the blue? Is that Donatella with the blue? I can never keep track of which one. actually know that.
Starting point is 00:49:07 That's a really good one. Look at the, like the. That's excellent. Yeah. I'm impressed. The dotting around the mask there. Every once in a while, you guys will make something crazy. Like way down this list.
Starting point is 00:49:19 And then every once in a while, one of you will draw a penis. Yeah. Very rarely so far. We haven't had too many, too many problems. But there's probably, Mulder probably had some temptation to put a little weiner on this guy. Probably. Yeah. I'm impressed.
Starting point is 00:49:31 He's son of the taint like Brolin. That's right. Mydrawings.com, everybody. Go check it out. All right, Brian, it's time for an email and, uh... Yes. Play those. I need to push a thing.
Starting point is 00:49:42 Here we go. This is about the jugs of pee. All right. Got an email from, uh, this is about Road Rash and the comic. This is from Road Rash. Oh, this is from Road Rash in Canada. Oh, okay. I was thinking it was about the game because we just talked about it on, um, me and
Starting point is 00:49:56 Dunaway did. Anyway, dear sketch and brush. Just the other day, listening to you tell Dr. Nicky about studying cadavers to learn muscular and skeletal systems. so you would draw humans properly. What gross got out the most with the dead bodies, sorry, with the dead bodies was the fungi growth from the umbilicus. So what he's talking about is this.
Starting point is 00:50:21 Yeah, the Mario. Yeah, I'll put it up. So people can see it. It was. It was gross. Yeah. So my latest comic is Mario asking Luigi, does this look infected?
Starting point is 00:50:30 And he's got this nasty mushroom growth coming out of his belly button. Yeah. I actually think it was inspired by. It's the last of us. Actually, in this case, I think it came from Dan talking about his hernia. I think that's where it came from. Oh, yeah, okay. It was subconscious of it was either way.
Starting point is 00:50:44 But anyway, that's over at Newduck.com. You can go see the comic for yourself. But it's a little gross. It is a little gross. You know what my daughter's first comment was? She says, why'd you have to do nipples? Well, I mean, Mario's nipples. I would think so.
Starting point is 00:50:58 Yeah. It's not like he's not Maui from Moana. No. No, in fact, in Mario, Super Mario Odyssey, he has nipples. He wears like a... Oh, do he see him shirtless? Yeah, he's got a little... See if I can find it.
Starting point is 00:51:12 Is that the Florida level? Odyssey. Let's see. It was kind of like that. It was like a... Oh, yeah. Please, please Google search Mario with nipples for us all. Found it. And he has... Rest in peace, algorithm. Yeah. Yeah. Here it is right here. So here he is running around his little suit. Look his little nips. He doesn't have chest hair, though. He's like a...
Starting point is 00:51:34 Hairless man. He's like a 40-year-old man from the neck up, but 12 from the neck down. Yep. But if you were wondering, like, I would say, hey, I don't know, Disney or whoever doesn't put nipples on stuff. Get out there. Get that done. Yeah. Look at his little Mario nips.
