Starting point is 00:00:00 There is nothing cool about Doritos. Well, except for cool ranch Doritos. As it has cool like right there in the name. Anyway, support TMS today at patreon.com slash TMS. Coming up on the morning stream, it's Morgans all the way down. Big billionaire bastards. Yanking and cranking. Wives keep us alive.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Get a hose. Sigfried and Jensen. Really old young guns. A wild hell at hunt appears. A lot of disappointing. I can't believe it's not fried chicken. In my head, pizza in my mouth, pizza. Spider-Man, European vacation.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Terrible matching play button and tie. Hall pass hotel. Raining and a Monday with Stephen and more on this episode of The Morning Stream. I believe that you've received a death message from our Ninja Empire. The Ninja Empire is evil. I have to reform the Ninja Empire. That is why I took away the Golden Ninja Warrior. You've got three days in which to return the Golden Ninja Warrior or else you die.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Go to hell. Get rid of that damn twitch. The morning stream. You are listening to Adele Dazim. Hello and welcome to TMS. This is the morning stream for Monday, September 28th, 2026. I am Scott Johnson.
Starting point is 00:01:26 That is Brian Ibbett. Hello. Back from another weekend. Yes. A wild weekend of debauchery. sex and drinking. That's right. Just all of that stuff. I guess actually the opposite of all those things. And then she woke up and I had to stop. Oh, well, that's why our wives, they keep us alive. Good thing. She's a sound sleeper, though. That's true. Welcome, everybody. Hey, what's going on? How was your weekend? I hope everybody had a good one.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Don't forget to put your earbuds in its case. That's just the lesson we learned from the pre-show. All right. So we're always trying to pass good lessons on. I had a I had a really fun weekend, even though I was, this cold was really weird. It was mostly like, I lost my voice a couple of times, and I was really tired and therefore super grumpy. It was mostly fatigue, this thing. Whatever it is, it wasn't COVID. Tested for that, wasn't that.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Don't know what it is. It just made me really fatigued and tired. I don't want to do anything, and it made me super grouchy. But during all of that, I had a longstanding date to go to dinner with Liam O'Brien since he had first announced he was coming to Comic-Con. So pretty nerdacular. We were planning on this dinner. And he was going to come to the, sorry, you keep calling it Comic Con, Fanx now.
Starting point is 00:02:41 We have to call it. Well, they have to call it. You can call it whatever you want. Yeah, you know what? Sue me, San Diego. Yeah, exactly. Talk to my lawyer that I don't have. Anyway.
Starting point is 00:02:53 And for anyone out there thinks are going to scam me now, I absolutely do have a lawyer. Or maybe I don't. Or maybe I do. Oh, maybe you do. Or don't. Or maybe there's, it's on retainer. That's a thing? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Yeah. Yeah. Although, yeah. I don't really have a retainer. Yeah, I was going to say, it's pretty expensive to keep a lawyer on retainer. I would, I would expect that if you've got a lawyer, it's not somebody to keep on retainer. No. And these days, everyone just hires chat, GPT to be there.
Starting point is 00:03:18 I hire the strong arm, Frank Azar, who, uh, have you been injured in an accident called a strong arm. Yeah, he'll take care of you. You'll take care of you. Sure. For us, it's Siegfried and Jensen. Those guys are everywhere here. That's a funny. It's because you're expecting a whole arm.
Starting point is 00:03:33 whole different name. Yeah, absolutely. And I'm not even sure. All the law firm of SIGfried and Jensen. They'll bite your face off on stage. Wait, wrong people. The law tigers. They never did go that hard.
Starting point is 00:03:47 And I never see Sigfried anymore. It's always Jensen. But his name's still on the marquee, so I don't know what's going on. Get Bulls, Zander brings up Morgan and Morgan and Morgan and Morgan. It's fun. There's a, there's a, there's a law firm called Morgan and Morgan. Or is it Morgan, Morgan, Morgan, and Morgan. I think it's just two Morgan's.
Starting point is 00:04:04 Two Morgans. And they advertised on the, they were the law firm that Ronnie, the limo driver used on Howard Stern. And so they've got ads on the Howard Stern show. Just the guy. If that's Morgan. I think it's Morgan and Morgan.
Starting point is 00:04:20 I mean, it's Morgan and Morgan. The one who does their commercial seems like a much younger guy than that guy. So he says, Hi, this is Robert Morgan of Morgan and Morgan. Wow. That's too many. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe you split those up and say, hi. For Morgan Morgan, my name is Robert Morgan,
Starting point is 00:04:37 and here's, you know, why you need to call us. It's too many Morgans. It's way too many Morgans. It sounds like he's on repeat. Yeah. This website is for the people.com. It is for the people. Oh, yeah, they all have to do that, right? Hate it. Like, fighting for you.com or know your rights.com. I hate it. And I also don't like this background. He chose it. It looks like, what's his name before he died?
Starting point is 00:05:01 Larry King. Yeah, his show. You know what I'm talking about? Those interviews. Yep. Yep. And maybe you don't want a play button that's the same color as your tie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Oh my gosh. Look at that. Now I can't unsee it. That's great. Yeah. Well, anyway, so where was? Oh, so we make all the arrangements. Fanx was monstrous this year.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Partly because next year they're, or between now and next year, they're doing a huge renovation of the Salt Palace and so I think that there a bunch of stuff may change so everybody was really cramming it in this year and just trying to like go overboard on like guests and all this because who knows what next year is like so
Starting point is 00:05:44 Liam and most of the critical role people are here and he says well they all we all got invited to the party of the billionaire that owns Comic Con here locally at his like gigantic house palatial estate yeah and he goes they're all going to go but I'm going to
Starting point is 00:06:01 you to dinner. I said, well, you don't, I mean, if you'd rather go to the thing, let's, we can work this out. And he's like, no, no, no, I hate these things. I don't want to go to that. So he's not going to that. And it turns out later, he told me that that maybe didn't go so well anyway. So it worked out. Oh, really? I had no details or anything. It just sounds like he got, he just, there were his words where I think I had the better time. Yeah. Well, I think either way he would have had the better time. I think so too. So it was me, Kim, Nick, and Carter. And Carter was already there. She's been there all week for the con since Thursday, all the way up through Sunday she was gone like staying in a hotel she had her friend had like five six friends whatever it is
Starting point is 00:06:36 doing their booth sold a ton of art cosplayed every day good for her excellent look at her uh this is her carlac and uh it's alicia with her hysteria in there but they're both balder's gate nuts so that was a cool but anyway they're there having a good time and everything and uh there's a shot of liam being a dork with that that's pretty that's pretty fun right that's great with the shot of him behind him Like that's, you know. Looking all smug and high profile back there. Right. Exactly. Anyway, so here's, but here's the weird bit.
Starting point is 00:07:09 So dinner was great. We had a great time. Everything was fun. You know, there's us at dinner. But while we're there, we're at this hotel that they stayed at that was super nice. And I don't even think I'd ever heard of this place in Salt Lake. Just a beautiful, I can't remember the name now. It's got a fancy name that I forgot.
Starting point is 00:07:25 But it was really nice. Like, you could tell it was old and then renovated. and then became this hot place for everyone to go because we walk in there and we see, the first thing I see down the hall is Lou Diamond Phillips. There he is right there standing in the hall
Starting point is 00:07:43 and I'm like, what is he doing at Comic-Con? Yeah. And then I found out the key for Sutherland, I saw briefly him running past. He's there too. And he was there with a bunch of others. They were doing some kind of young guns panel. Union or 50 years later, young guns.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Yeah. whatever it's been 30 something i think at least right 35 years yeah definitely not 50 unless this thing this was the 70s young young yeah that'd have been cool we didn't know about it yeah uh so kefir's there i don't get to meet him obviously um sure we talked to that uh kim talked to the guy that played gata on uh battle star but but she said the expanse when she said him oh yes you mentioned that i mentioned that film sack yeah so that was pretty funny or pre show yeah yeah and i went uh Oh, honey, got to be careful. Anyway, he was very nice, super, super nice.
Starting point is 00:08:34 But then while we're sitting there, then we get this parade of people. And Nick starts to lose his mind because he sees a couple tables over. He goes, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad. And I go what? He goes, the voice of Arthur Morgan and Dutch from Red Dead Redemption 2 are sitting over there at the same table of Dutch and Arthur. And I went, really? And he goes, yeah, I've seen those guys. I've watched their interviews and stuff.
Starting point is 00:08:56 I'm going to lose my mind because he's a mega fan. of Red Dead. Love Red Dead. I think it's his favorite game ever made. Red Dead 2 is like his old time. I mean, based on their reaction, I'd guess, yes. Yeah, so he's losing it.
Starting point is 00:09:08 So, uh, Liam waves over it because he knows him. He weighs over to him. And they go, hey, what's going on? And they came over. And they couldn't have been nicer human being. This dude right here.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Awesome. Uh, Roger Clark, I think is his real name. I just think of him as Arthur, but anyway, he's, he is the sweetest dude. and took this picture called Nick Cowpoke. I thought Nick was going to die. He was so excited. Oh, that's so cool.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Carter hates this picture because she just tore all her makeup off from that day's cosplay. Are they, is this a way of simulating Jack Skellington's bow tie in the nightmare before Christmas? Is that the... I don't know. It's that or they just started a gang war. I don't know which.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Right. Something like that. That's calling the Crips. Calling the Crips. Yep. And oh, you can, you know what I just realized. You can see Nick and Carter have these matching bird skulls, uh, tattoos. Oh, yeah. I'm kidding, right in their same place.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Yeah. They decided to get some matching sibling tattoos. Anyway, he couldn't have been nicer. And then sitting right over here is the lady that played late, the lady version of V in the game, cyberpunk 2077. She's over there with her daughter. Liam talked to her for a long time.
Starting point is 00:10:21 And then, uh, Helen Hunt for some reason. So it's this weird thing, man. That's who I would have been like, oh my God, Tina's Helen Hunt. There was a time when she was in my hall pass list. Yeah, I thought of that about you days. I actually thought of you when I saw her because I knew that there would be that kind of old soul connection to it. That totally was. I love it.
Starting point is 00:10:47 And I didn't feel good about taking a shot of her because it just felt weird. And the one of the one of Lou Diamond Phillips was actually just a lucky shot where he's in the background and I pinched and zoomed to that crop. Good. Yeah, that is the thing. Like, I never want to be that guy who's like, I think somebody at a very early Dragon Con, I'm like, oh, my God, that's a great costume. And I took a picture of it. And the person next to me says, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:11 if you just go over there and ask, they'll pose for you. I'm like, oh, yeah, good point. I shouldn't just take pictures of people. Yeah. It's hard to remember in that situation, though. I get it. They're walking by. I don't want to lose it.
Starting point is 00:11:25 It's like, oh, my God, that's the greatest. Just cosplay of whoever. Yeah, plus I don't want to be that guy, right? I don't want to be somebody who's like, hey, if it's a famous person. I don't want to go, you know, I just really would you. Like, at the con, they're getting $500 for these shots. I was going to say, remember I told you the story about LaForge and Data talking about how much Riker is pulling in for an autograph at the Star Trek experience in Vegas. It's not an experience at the Star Trek convention in Vegas.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Yeah. Oh, I want the experience back, though. I miss the experience. Remember when they were going to build that giant enterprise add on to the casino? Yes. Man. What a lost opportunity. I thought that was a separate.
Starting point is 00:12:03 Wasn't it could be a separate hotel or was it going to be part of the... Oh, I thought it was part of the Hilton? Maybe not. I don't know. I'm not sure. All I know is when they showed the concept art of it. It looks so freaking cool. You guys don't even know how rad that would have been.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Yeah. I mean, sure, we'd be gambling on the outer ring, but who cares. You know? It's hotels that look like freaking hotels. Yeah. Lame. That's where they should, you know, that Star Wars thing. they should move that to
Starting point is 00:12:28 Vegas to Area 15. Oh yeah, that would be cool. Why won't they do that? Put that over there. Because, yeah, I mean, people already spending $2,000 to take their family of four to Disneyland for Disney World for three days.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Yeah. What's another $8,000 for that experience? Speaking of that area 15, so I'm in the process of, I got some more back and forth with Z over at the plaza and it's looking very good for us being at the plaza the last week the last the the the the Monday Tuesday Wednesday last week of April don't don't lock it down people but that's
Starting point is 00:13:09 that's what's looking like things are looking like and so we're talking we're really talking about the showroom and there are going to be some requirements that we have to meet some some many things that we have to meet for the the showroom but um now I'm thinking like, all right, she told me how long we can have the showroom for. We can have it for five hours. It's a pretty good chunk of time. It's a pretty good chunk of time. Because the Sand Dollar gave us, it felt like three and a
Starting point is 00:13:38 half or four maybe. And I'm trying to think, all right, well, it'd be cool to have a band. But what are some things from NerdTacular that just feel like a, all right, I will come to Vegas if you guys do blah, blah, blah. I'm not going to say do X, because people think we're talking about ecstasy. And I already did that in Vegas years ago.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Nothing new about Brian doing X in Vegas. Yeah. I guess it was E back then. Anyway, but, you know, if we did a All-Stars trivia game, or if we did a core or something, because we're going to have that great stage, you know, what is the thing? Yeah, you guys got to understand. This is like traditional, awesome Vegas lounge room kind of.
Starting point is 00:14:24 This is exactly. Like when you see old Vegas with like Sammy Davis Jr. crooning in front of a group of tables, these cool rounded tables that the mafia bosses are all sitting in, that's what this room is like. I think it sounds so cool. But yeah, we will come up with all kinds of stuff.
Starting point is 00:14:45 But if, you know, if anybody out there has any hot ideas, you know, get on Discord, let's talk about it. If you're a nerdacular guest or a Nurtacular attendee, that is like, yeah, I kind of want to do TMS Vegas, but if you were to do this, that would totally sell it for me.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Yeah, we'd love to hear some of those ideas. Doesn't mean they'll all make it, but we'll look at them. Exactly. But Area 15, so this is where I was going with all this. Area 15 has a whole bunch of new things there that it's like, oh, our Tuesday is absolutely Area 15. Like, this is going to be the bomb. They've got the John Wick experience. It's like a, kind of like an escape room, but you're John Wick.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Ooh, my double-tapping fools in the head and stuff? I think so, yeah. Universal Horror Unleashed, which is like the level of horror mazes that they do around Halloween at Universal Studios, but year-round in Vegas. Is this like old school universal monster type stuff? There's some of that, but then there's also like, you know, probably a, a saw maze or something like that, right? Like, you know, the maze they need to do is a freaking backroom. It feels like the
Starting point is 00:15:58 easiest damn horror maze that they need to do. And just work with 824, whoever you got it, get some other IPs in there, you know? Exactly. They've got a, you know, a drop, you know, the thing that's certainly not for everybody, I don't even know if it's for me, but like a
Starting point is 00:16:13 drop ride there now. They've got a bar that goes up to a super high tower. thing. Anyway, there's a ton of new stuff at Area 15 and I feel like it's it is just made for the TMS Vegas group to take
Starting point is 00:16:30 up a whole Tuesday. Yeah, that sounds awesome. Yeah. Well, as we work forward toward it, we will keep you guys in the loop and see how things go. As promised, there hopefully will be a survey popping up in the Discord sometime soon. Nice. Yeah. Brian, how was endgame? You've seen it.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Now you've seen it what? This is like your 12th time. This is probably in theater the third time i've seen it altogether probably the seventh or eighth time it's it's nowhere near fury road numbers probably but um you've probably seen fury road three times in the theater right because you did twice and then the third time when the chrome i did so i did well the chrome one only as far as i know that only hit um the blue ray oh it never came to theater but i did do three viewings in the theater just one right after the other that year and then i want to say there was some kind of short-lived quick run They did.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Somehow I saw it a third time in a theater. I don't remember how. And then another 19 to 20 times on my own. And now just talking about it, of course, makes me want to watch it. Makes you want to see it again. I would say do that with Endgame Encore. You know, it is, you talk about perfect movies. And I was thinking about this.
Starting point is 00:17:42 Well, this one is the perfect movie. And I always couple it with Infinity War. But I feel like even on its own, end game is the perfect movie. It's got a lot of heart to it. It's got action. It's got some really, a lot of really funny moments. You kind of forget, like Rocket talking to Batman. Oh, puppy, you want to go to space, puppy?
Starting point is 00:18:03 I'll take you to space. Yeah. There's really good stuff in there. It's also, you could do like a recap of Infinity War and still, I agree with you. I think Endgame really does stand on its own. And I think it matches the criteria of what I would call a perfect film. It's so good. It is so good.
Starting point is 00:18:19 And then, of course, all the new stuff that they add for Encore, do yourselves a favor. Don't spoil it by looking at the internet. If you get a chance, go see it. I mean, that stuff will hopefully be on Disney Plus before Doomsday comes out. But the communal experience, I mean, and I talk about this on the FilmSack Substack. Go sign up at Substack. I'm sorry, filmsack.com. A lot of acts in the URL.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Exactly. Yeah, exactly. But that same experience that we had in Vegas when we saw it as part of a TMS Vegas, and everybody like cheering when Caps says Avengers assemble and, you know, how quiet it fell when Natasha died and things like that. We got that again with the new stuff that got added here, specifically two moments that made the audience react audibly. And I was part of that too. because I had not, I hadn't read anything. I didn't know anything that was going on.
Starting point is 00:19:21 And just the, um, the, the, the, the stuff that came up was just so good. So you say the stuff they added, uh,
Starting point is 00:19:30 absolutely banger stuff like you're, are you impressed, like with what you got? Two, two of the three things they've added. I'm sorry, three, three of the four things they added,
Starting point is 00:19:40 uh, were totally banger stuff. And one, you know, one makes you smile because of who, brings back. Another one is, yeah, I know what this is going to be. Oh, no, that's not it at all.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Really? And, yeah, it's... So worthy additions, not just cheap tricks. We're the additions. But, you know, not worth the $15 or whatever it is to see an IMAX movie alone these days. Oh, they also had a before thing with Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. saying, hey, we just want to thank you for coming out to the movie. We're really excited about this.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Da-da-da-da. We live you 3,000. Blah, blah, blah. Then they also had a silence your phones thing that was made specifically for this. I didn't even talk about this in the substack, but they have a specific to end game silence your phones that I want to watch a billion times more because it was so freaking good. I want to watch it however many times Dr. Strange says 14 million, 6,05 or whatever it is. Yeah. And then when you're the only guy with your first.
Starting point is 00:20:47 phone still on, he'll go. Exactly. That's right. So that's cool, man. I feel like I need to do this before it leaves theaters. Yeah. Unfortunately, it's so damn expensive, but... It's in the...
Starting point is 00:21:00 It's in the... I mean, it debuted at number one over the weekend. It's about to just repeat its freaking thing that it already did and become the biggest film ever. It totally is, and it's well deserved. But you have to love the original movie. The new stuff alone is not... worth the price of admission, but the combination of all that stuff is worth the price of admission.
Starting point is 00:21:21 Yeah, that's awesome. Go read the, uh, Rebrien's impressions at substack or filmtech. Yeah. They are spoiler. Spoiler free. Yeah, no spoilers. Even if you've never seen end game. No, there's spoilers. If you, if you haven't seen end game, I talk, well, I basically talk about what I just talked about here and I spoiled some things. Sure. Yeah. If you haven't, but that was 2019, everybody. Yeah. Get on it. Yeah. We've had a. pandemic since then. That's right. Exactly. Yes. Try and keep up. All right. That's awesome, dude. Excited for you. Real quick, we're going to try a food item. You know what I think we're going to do with Dunaway here just for fun to get his reaction to us doing it. Yeah, sounds good.
Starting point is 00:22:02 All right. Let's do this. You and I'll eat it. He'll react to us. Yeah. The internet is all reacting content now anyway. So what doesn't matter. All right. That is the music that brings in this guy. It's the one. It's the only. It's Brian Dunaway. to play a game with us today. Hello, Brian. How are you? Oh, hi, Scott and Brian. Hey, man. Nice to hear your voice.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Yeah, good to hear your voice too, guys. Yeah. Is your Monday treating you okay so far? You know, good Monday and all that. You know what? I'm just going to be honest. No. Monday's treating like a Monday does.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Yeah, you know how you see how Garfield acts on Monday? Yeah, same. Like that. Same. All right. I was kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
Starting point is 00:22:46 All right. The last three weeks have been, you know how you've seen that episode of The Simpsons where a side show Bob like keeps stepping on rakes. Yeah. Yeah. It's like that. Yeah. It's like that.
Starting point is 00:22:58 Death, death by a thousand cuts lately the last couple. I get. And I'm starting to get a little grumpy and I apologize. Yeah. You're the one guy in my life who, uh, no matter how bad things go, usually you'll put a positive spin on it. But when you've stepped on enough rakes, you deserve a lot. You deserve some consternation.
Starting point is 00:23:15 You can be mad. I can go a couple of weeks, you know. with the constant beat down, killing week three, I started getting a little grumpy. Yeah, I get it. Yeah, plus this year can eat a poo. I'd like to say that out loud. It can't eat it.
Starting point is 00:23:29 It really can't eat a poo. Let's eat this. So, oh, I should play the thing here. You'd be in the poo. Let's have an orio. Where's the, you don't, don't eat my pants. Would you not eat my pants? There we go. That's our intro.
Starting point is 00:23:41 So we got from Mike Picholik, a box or a, what do you call it, whatever, a container of chicken waffle flavored Oreos. These are kind of a nightmare. The hot new trend of chicken and waffles. Yeah, everybody loves chicken and waffles, but do they love it in Oreo for them? I just got some Oreos yesterday from Audra, and I'm trying to remember which ones they were. It was something weird. Is it the new banana pudding?
Starting point is 00:24:06 No, it was like some kind of sour candy thing. Oh, gosh, really. I don't know. They try everything, man. Swedish fish was one that we had that was a lot disappointing. Yeah, it was like, it was like tangy and weird in a way that wasn't pleasant. I don't like it. But it won't pull a filling out, so I guess there's that.
Starting point is 00:24:24 There is that. All right. So here we go. Breaking the seal, right? Yeah. There's the seal. I'm breaking the seal and giving my first whiff. Oh.
Starting point is 00:24:33 Yeah. It's mostly kind of maple, but if you. It's mostly maple. There's a weird, there's a weird hit at the end that's like old chicken kind of. A little saltiness. Yeah. Oh, I love that the Oreos are waffle. Yeah, they're waffle.
Starting point is 00:24:47 Nice. And then inside is, I'm going to open mine just to show this, there is a layer of brown and a layer of kind of off brown white. Oh. I don't know what that means is the brown, the chicken. Are you going to spin it and lick each side? No. Well, there's no way to do that because the two layers are conjoined. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:07 But that's not true. If you open enough, I'm sure one side will eventually open up on one side and the other and you can just lick two at one time. The problem is that, no, there are two thin disks of. flavor that have been mushed together. Yeah. They're kind of merged in the center. Yeah. They're not a perfect half.
Starting point is 00:25:24 Can't pull those discs apart. I know what you're talking about, Brian, because, yeah. You know what would make this better if I had one? Yeah, it would help. Yeah, that would. Then you could just shove it up your ass. Open your window, Brian, and catch. Yeah, like that.
Starting point is 00:25:36 So I am going to buy it right where the meeting happens. So I'm going to try to get the two things here. So here go. Oh. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. You know what I didn't expect.
Starting point is 00:25:49 The cookie has a waffled. A saltiness to it. Oh, you think it's got a waffle? Oh, yeah. You see what I'm saying? Like an ego you left in the air fryer, you forgot it was there, and it's super hard and crunchy, but that's that. This might be one of the best. I can't believe we're saying this.
Starting point is 00:26:08 This is so good. It is really freaking good. You know what? It's just like just enough salt to counter the sweet. Yes, exactly. It's not overly sweet. There's some saltiness to it. It's like, I can't believe it.
Starting point is 00:26:20 I can't believe it. After, in a year where we had the absolutely worst thing tied to fried chicken, also chicken flavored, exactly. Yeah, now we're having the absolute best thing tied to fried chicken. That's not fried chicken. I don't understand it. I'm actually kind of blown away. Yeah, all right.
Starting point is 00:26:37 I'm going to be the rest of that later. I was prepared to have half one of these and never look at them again. Yeah, yeah. What the frick. All right. Exactly. All right. Don't aware.
Starting point is 00:26:47 I wish I could have to stumble all over my words. Yeah, we'll send your left over. We'll get your cookie in the mail. How's that? Yeah, just one cookie. Let's get into... Exactly. Why don't we get into the game today so that Schleiker's not waiting too terribly long for us?
Starting point is 00:27:02 Sure. How about we play a game called the TMS Games Lobby? Because that's all I see. I forgot what we're doing today. We are playing Welcome to Do Frogs Have Brain? There it is. Countdown style trivia game. I've got 20 questions across various subjects, including science art and entertainment.
Starting point is 00:27:16 in history and more. Scott and Brian will each get 90 seconds to answer as many of these questions as he can or say pass. One of the two. While Scott's answering his questions,
Starting point is 00:27:26 we're going to put Brian into a soundproof isolation booth so he can't hear the answers. The player with the most correct answers after 90 seconds wins the prize for their contestant. Contestants have been pulled from our Patreon supporters
Starting point is 00:27:36 at patreon.com slash TMS. Scott, you're playing for Brandon Bromley. Yeah, me and the Braum. Getting it done. And Brian playing for Matthew Bickert. Bickert. So Scott and the Brahm and Brian and the Bick.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Bromley and Bick. The law firm of Bromley and Bickert. Have you, do you have a structured settlement that you're trying to collect? Called the law firm of Bromley and Bickert. Yeah. And Morgan and Morgan and Morgan. That's right.
Starting point is 00:28:04 All right. Let's get this thing going here. Brian, go ahead and put yourself into your cone of shame. Yep. I like that. All right, Scott. Let's use the first player.
Starting point is 00:28:15 set up to start, start timer. Okay. As always, I'll start the timer when I finish and asking the first question. Here you go. Who was the first American in outer space? Oh, Pax Loman.
Starting point is 00:28:32 I have no idea. Who in 1930 protested against the British Salt Monopoly by going on the Salt March? I'd pass. According to legend, who cuts Samson's hair? Delilah.
Starting point is 00:28:44 What is the Latin term for the stiffness of a corpse. Rigormortus? The introduction, I'm Larry. This is my brother, Daryl, and this is my other brother, Daryl, came from what sitcom? That would be, oh, shit! The pass. It won't come to me. What 14,500 tonne stone creation has miraculously not fallen over at the Piazza Der Miracole? The Leaning Tower Pizza?
Starting point is 00:29:11 What does the abbreviation C-C stand for in used in E. Emails and letters. Carp and copy. Which artist might have been referred to in his day as Manir van Rinn? Pass. In which children's novel would you find, Gustus Glute, Baruchas, Salt, and Mike TV? What's wrong with me?
Starting point is 00:29:32 Willie Wonka in the Chocolate Factory. What is the name for the valuation ratio of a company's current share price compared to its per share earnings? Pass. Who produced Michael Jackson's album The Thriller? Uh, Ned Ryerson. Bing.
Starting point is 00:29:50 What country issues gold coins called Kugaran's? Oh, shit. It's Britain. Uh, which, okay. There we go. Damn it. I mean,
Starting point is 00:30:00 my score's okay, but I'm not happy with some. I know that one now that's sitcom. I'm not going to say it because Brian's coming back, but yeah. Shit. Yep. And I'm going to give you before Brian comes in.
Starting point is 00:30:12 I'm going to give you, will you want the chocolate factory, but the book is called Charlie and the chocolate factory, but I'm not going to. Brian's probably you can do the same thing and I'm going to give it to him if he does. You'll take it either way. All right.
Starting point is 00:30:24 Yep, exactly. Fair. All right. Let's see what random Brian we get here. Very well, I shall release Brian. Always fun when they play the greatest hits. Did I tell you that that made me watch. I watched that movie the other day.
Starting point is 00:30:39 Did you really? I love the life of Brian. In years, so I need to watch that. I forgot how much lead up there is before. before people start worshiping him. There's tons. It's like way more development than you remember. But it's not just a series of gags.
Starting point is 00:30:52 It's great. Interesting. Great movie. Anyway, Hi, Brian. Donnell. You're back. Oh,
Starting point is 00:30:57 I's gotten, Brian. Hey, man. Oh, hi, Brian. You did pretty good. You're going to laugh at me.
Starting point is 00:31:03 He set the bar high. All right. Yeah. Let's get you going here. Brian, if you're ready, I'll begin the timer when I finish asking, answering the first question.
Starting point is 00:31:11 I'm just going to ask it. You're going to answer. Here we go. Who was the, the first American in outer space? Alan Shepard. Who, in 1930, protested against the British salt monopoly by going on the salt march. Pass.
Starting point is 00:31:27 According to legend, who cuts Samson's hair? Delilah? What is the Latin term for the stiffness of a corpse? Rigamortis. The introduction, I'm Larry. This is my brother, Daryl, and this is my other brother, Daryl, came from what's it come? The Bob Newhart Show. The new heart
Starting point is 00:31:47 New heart is to shorten What 14,500 stone a ton stone creation has miraculously not fallen over at the Piazza de Miracoli? Oh, um, Liening Tower of Pizza. What does the abbreviation
Starting point is 00:32:02 CC stand for? What does the abbreviation CC stand for used in emails and letters? Which artist might have been referred to in his day as Minier van Rinn. Van Gogh. In which children's novel would you come across Augustus Gloop, Verruca Salt, and Mike TV? Oh, is it Charlie in a chocolate factory?
Starting point is 00:32:23 No, which one is it? Yeah, okay. What is the name for the valuation ratio of a company's current share price compared to its per share earnings? The ratio. Pass. Who produced Michael Jackson's album The Thriller? Madonna. What country issues gold coins called Krugurans?
Starting point is 00:32:42 Australia. Yeah. Which tick transmits Lyme disease to people. Deer tick. Ooh, got it just in time. I'm going to give that one to you. Oh, man. You know what? You whooped me on Newhart. I couldn't. It would not come to my brain, Bob Newhart's name. Yeah. Now, that's the question. He did say Bob Newhart show first. Yeah, yeah. Although, I guess he got deer tick, so that would have still put him at six. Yeah, you'd have had sex either way. You'd win either way.
Starting point is 00:33:11 God damn. We could argue the point. No, no. First American outer space. I think, Scott, you got this one, John Glenn. Oh, is it John Glenn? The Salt March is not Alan. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Yeah. Yeah. The Salt March was Mahatma Gandhi. Oh. Delilah, Cut Samson's hair, rigor mortis you got, new heart you got. Both of you said Leaning Tower of Pizza, which is, which is just beautiful. Pizza. Did I say pizza?
Starting point is 00:33:36 I did too. You both said pizza. I may have corrected it with pizza after, but. You did. You did. it afterwards. In my head, it was pizza. In my mouth, apparently it comes out pizza. That's where all the pizza goes. The artist known potentially as Minir Van Rinn in his home country would have been Rembrandt. The valuation ratio of a company's current share price compared to its per share earnings is the price earning ratio. All the words are there in the thing. The producer of Michael Jackson's album Thriller, come on, it's Q. It's Quincy Jones. Oh, Quincy Epping Jones. She didn't see that one. Rashida Jones's dad.
Starting point is 00:34:13 I could have remembered that. Exactly. And finally, the country that issues Krugaran's is South Africa. Diplomatic immunity. We're going to give you Elon Musk and it's going to be a bad time.
Starting point is 00:34:27 You know what I love about this trivia is I end up learning just like they're doing the crossword puzzles. I'm like, I guess I didn't learn you were today. Right. Yeah. Now you know, Rembrandt was originally Minier Van Rinn. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:40 Plus, this breaks some out. I think I had like a two-week streak on this countdown thing, and I think you've now taken the lead or something. I don't know. I don't know who's ahead. You know what? That's funny. I have,
Starting point is 00:34:50 this is one thing I haven't been keeping track of. But in today's show, Brian won, which means that the Bick, Matthew Bickert, is getting the prizes. He's getting shapes and after the fall, both courtesy of Zamabee. Fantastic. Zama B.
Starting point is 00:35:06 But don't worry, Brandon Bromley. You're getting a copy of Hard Bullet. I think it's bullets. It's spelled B-U-L-E-T, but I think it's supposed to be hard bullet. Probably hard bullet. You get a victory pickle. So both of you have really won, and that's the important thing. That's right.
Starting point is 00:35:21 I'll tell you who hasn't won, me. That's me. But don't worry. I'll have another chance on Wednesday when we play this game again, and Dunaway, it'll be even a worse mood. More rakes. I'm getting over to. I decided yesterday, I'm getting over it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Well, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, You like we say in the toy story, you've got a friend in us if you need anything. You got a friend. I hate Toy Story 3. Why would you bring that? Oh, shit. One more cut. Yeah, one more.
Starting point is 00:35:51 One more rake. You just stepped on. Anyway, we'll be back with her Wednesday. We'll try it again. Don't forget, always step on rakes. Okay, bye. All right. He's out.
Starting point is 00:36:01 I'm looking at this up. First American in space. Icor says it was Alan Shepard. Well, it's first out of the atmosphere, right? So it's not even space-based necessarily, like all the way to the moon. It would just be the first to break Earth's atmosphere. The first to break Earth's atmosphere. And Alan Shepard was the first American spraise.
Starting point is 00:36:20 John Glenn first to orbit. Oh, that's right. It's in that movie, the right stuff. He orbits. You're totally right. But, yeah, I core, you're totally right. It wouldn't have changed scores because I think Brian did say Alan Shepard. Yeah, so.
Starting point is 00:36:34 He would have beat me by yet another point. So we don't need that. We don't need to. No. And what did I say? Like Ned Ryerson? Or did he, no, he produced Michael Jackson's record. That's right. I thought you did say John Glenn. Didn't you? Or did you say something last? I don't know what I said. Do anyone remember what I said? I don't remember. Either way, I would have lost by another point, is the point. Yep. So, all right. Congratulations. Everybody involved, especially those who won prizes. It's now time for us to take a trip down a road we're familiar with, but never tired of. And now welcome Stephen to the show. He's a huge freaking nerd. Dalla, dollar bills, y'all.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Stephen Schleiker, welcome to the program. How you doing? Hello, Scott. Hello, Brian. Oh, let me turn you up. I've got you kind of low here. That's me. That's a me thing, I think.
Starting point is 00:37:17 Okay. How about now? Yeah. Now. I think so. Hey, Scott. Hello, Brian. Hey, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:37:23 It's our favorite Hayes, Kansas resident, and our favorite purveyor and maker of content around the world of comic books, pop culture, and more over at major spoilers.com. Always one of my favorite times to hang out with Stephen, talk a little bit about the stuff we love on here. I hope you're well. How's your week going? You're doing all right over there?
Starting point is 00:37:42 What's that song? Rainy Days and Mondays, always get me down. Yeah. Is that what's happening? You have them both in the same? Yeah. Are you channeling Karen Carpenter this morning? Is that what's going on?
Starting point is 00:37:53 I hope not. Eat a sandwich. Geez, what you? I was going to say, maybe not in that way. Was that the Carpenters or was that? Yeah, Karen Carpenter, yeah. Yeah, Karen, okay. She had, that says, someone's going to email mad at me.
Starting point is 00:38:07 I know she had a 10. terrible eating disorder. I'm not making fun of it. I promise everybody. I just meant I cannot imagine Steven Schleger in that position or that case. Anyway, uh, hey, Stephen, it's good to have you here. Let's get into it. It's also raining here and it's a Monday here. So we share this today. We share this in common. It's going to rain soon, but it has not started raining yet here. Yeah. It's actually really nice. Oh, it's so nice and cool here. I made my wife panic though because some neighbors got a, uh, like a tin pan of some sort out in his yard or whatever. And when rain hit, It makes this god-awful sound that sounds like something's wrong with your pipes.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Oh, God, yeah, right. The to do-to-d-dom. Yeah. But it's coming from outside, but it sounds muffled enough that it could be in our house. So this morning before going to the gym, she goes, Scott, I go, yeah, she goes, Scott! I go, what? She goes, get in here. And I'm like, what the hell is going on?
Starting point is 00:38:58 I freaked out. And she goes, put your ear here. What do you hear, what are you here? And I get down to the pipes. She goes, I think the basement's flooding. And I went, I think that's outside. Well, we got to be sure. So I run down here. Of course, there's no flooding.
Starting point is 00:39:10 I go back up. Turns out it's the neighbor's thing. So F that guy. Thank goodness. Before we get to your topics, Stephen, Lanterns, you enjoying it? Are you watching Lanterns? I mean, it's an HBO production, so obviously, until David Zazlov exits that company, I'm not watching anything. You're not watching it. Okay, never mind. I wish you were because, man. There's probably a complex way that you could watch it. Yeah, there's probably a way. I'm sure there is some kind of a ship that I could get on and.
Starting point is 00:39:35 Yeah. Yeah. It might be a little bit too complex for me to figure out. It's so good. Yeah. It's just, I'm going to be so sad when it's gone because I think they haven't said for sure. One more episode left. Yeah, that's it, right?
Starting point is 00:39:49 Oh, really? In the current season? Yeah. And they haven't confirmed they're doing more. If they do, great. But I'm worried about that. I thought they did announce a second season, didn't they? Okay.
Starting point is 00:40:01 No, rumor mill has that they're trying to pitch a second season. that is Hal Jordan before the events of this season? Interesting. That could be kind of cool. And for reasons, I won't say, that would give some people some joy. Yeah, I'm all in. Let me just tell you one thing. I've seen a lot of, what's his name?
Starting point is 00:40:24 Garrett Dillahunt over the years. I've seen a lot of them. I've never seen so much of them as I've seen in Lantons. That's a lot of Garrett Dillahunt that you get to see in this. Way more than I ever asked for. Yeah. And look, I'm impressed. He's older than us, and he's got the physique of a 30-year-old and well-done,
Starting point is 00:40:41 Garrett Dillahan. He's one of my favorite character actors. I love that guy. I'd want people to draw me, too, if I looked like that. Boy, though, I don't want to be in that room. I want nothing to do with any of that. We're not going to tell you about you. Just watch it for yourselves if you haven't seen the show of you guys.
Starting point is 00:40:57 All right. Hey, Stephen, let's get to these topics today. Some interesting stuff going on. Absolute DC continues to be a massive. Sive seller. I am not surprised by this. It is my favorite current mainstream comic to pick up on any of the runs, like whether it's Batman, Superman, any of them, I love this stuff. So how's it doing? Yeah. Yeah, it's doing great. Like every month since it's launched, pretty much every month, except for the Superman, Spider-Man, Spider-Man crossovers. The absolute Batman title has consistently hit the number one spot each month. That being said, the absolute Martian Manhunter, which was a 12-issue run, has one. won every single award. It won like all of the awards. I'm being over exaggerating, but it won a ton of awards at the Eisner's this year.
Starting point is 00:41:42 And then over the weekend, the Ringo Awards were awarded. And that one also took so many top spots for that. So absolute Martian Manhunter is a little bit out there. It's a little bit, it's very alternative. Yeah. But it's also very good. So people want to check that out there. I want to read that one for sure.
Starting point is 00:42:02 the absolute bat girl version of bat girl and the absolute batman look at her dude she yeah that just dropped this last week with that shotgun dude wow yeah i'm into it um so uh what was gonna say about that the wringo awards that's got nothing to do with wringo star right no no it's mike mike or wringo who passed away several years ago his artist fantastic yeah um if you've ever seen it so it's rings a bell but whenever I hear Ringo, I can't help it. I just picture now. With peace of love, read my comics. Any other comics will be chucked in the bin.
Starting point is 00:42:39 Do we have any other like rumors floating or anything going on around the idea of the absolute, any of the absolute stuff in particular Batman getting any kind of animated slash live action treatment, any other adaptation given its popularity or do you think we're just stuck with the comics? Not right now. The 25th, Absolute Batman number 25, will. drop next month. It will conclude a major story arc, but they haven't announced anything beyond, you know, just the comic books. Right now on the animated side, they just released, is it a two-parter or a three-parter? They're doing the nightfall adaptation, you know, where we got
Starting point is 00:43:16 Asriel as Batman from back in the day with Kelly Jones art. Yeah. That's available right now on streaming. Oh, I didn't know that happened. I don't know what they are doing after that. That's probably on that channel you won't subscribe to. Well, it's also available via iTunes. Oh, you just buy it. So if I wanted to watch it, I could. Did you watch the Batman thing that's on Prime, the one that's like in the 40s? Oh, yeah, the enemy is.
Starting point is 00:43:43 Oh, yeah, that one's an excellent show. Cape Crusader? Is that what it's called? Yeah, Cape Crusader is an excellent show. So I've only seen bits and pieces that girls watched it and won't shut up about it. They thought it was, it's now their favorite adaptation of Batman. They're like, it goes places. It gets pretty dark and all this stuff in there.
Starting point is 00:43:58 And I just need to settle that. So Paul Dini is one of the creators on this. Just like he was on Batman, the animated series. Right. It tries to take a little bit of that style, but it's still a very art deco, 1940s kind of style. But what's different about this is it's completely an else worlds type series because there are characters that you think are going to become major villains
Starting point is 00:44:22 that are just like killed off. And it's, and it's also a violent show too. like there's people that die in this thing. That's what I've heard. Like, and Batman's not, you know, like for a thing that's like set in that silver era gold or, you know, golden, but what's the area would we call this? Golden Age. Golden Age. You know, apparently pushes a bunch of buttons. I don't know why this isn't on the Warner Brothers channel and why Prime has it, but whatever, I guess.
Starting point is 00:44:48 I could, I could tell you, but. Is it because Zasla is a dick and he subbed it out to save money or something or what? Do you know? I mean, I can speculate. Yeah. Go ahead. I mean, man. Let's hear it.
Starting point is 00:45:06 I want to hear it. I want to hear you go off. There's a certain, there's a certain fandom that gets very upset when non-white people proliferate the show. Okay. And so I think that if you're an organization that's trying to sell to a company that is, very much anti-D-E-I and anti-woke that you may not want to have that in your staple of shows. Oh, that's my opinion.
Starting point is 00:45:35 Okay. All right. But. No, I mean, look, there are weirder conspiracies, man. Mm-hmm. You know, I believe every Coke can has a small transmitter in it. So, no, I don't think that's that crazy. I think you're probably on to something.
Starting point is 00:45:49 Yeah. And this isn't that unusual. Like Marvel put, was it Modoc on, I think Prime Carried Modoc? Hulu or no, it wasn't Hulu. Something like that though. Like once in a while you'll get some deal where a carrier will take your thing and it doesn't have to show up where you always expect it. So anyway, I want to see this one. I'm pretty.
Starting point is 00:46:09 It is really good. Two seasons are out right now. It is fantastic from beginning to end. And I think anybody who loves Batman the animated series but wishes it would push the limits a little bit more, this pushes it a little bit more. All right. Not too far in your opinion, just enough? I really enjoy it for what it is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:29 All right. We get a Joker version of the Joker. I see. I just saw on the trailer. There is a Joker. There is a Joker that he's a background character for the first two seasons. Oh, interesting. Oh, I said Paul Dini.
Starting point is 00:46:39 It's Bruce Tim. Bruce Tim. I'm watching the video play there. I know what you meant. I think I knew that and it just didn't click with me either. So not to worry. Let's talk about John Watts going to direct the next Star Wars movie. You know him from what, the Spider-Men?
Starting point is 00:46:53 Yeah, the first three Spider-Men's. That's right. all the home ones everybody get home we gotta go home yeah get in we're going home now I'm away from home right isn't that the deal yeah yeah yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:47:07 he seems like a very capable dude to make something like this so let's go I think so he also is the co-creator of the skeleton crew Star Wars series I don't know if you've guys seen that one that's basically what if Robinson not Robinson crew so
Starting point is 00:47:24 the pirate, Treasure Island. What if Treasure Island but set in Star Wars? He's the co-creator of that. And so he's got an end with everybody at Lucasfilm. So this is not a horrible announcement for this. I think some people are already overreacting to the fact that Disney says it's the next big Skywalker saga tale. And I think people are maybe not too thrilled about that. Oh, that is what the talk is, that it'll be a Skywalker continuation or something?
Starting point is 00:47:52 Yeah. I mean, again, Disney hasn't really confirmed. affirmed anything. And that's one of the things when you go out to a website that reports on these things is Disney didn't make a comment. So, I mean, it could be true. And if so, I'm fine with it. I'm willing to see what Watts is able to come up with. Now, he's just directing a script from, and I don't know if I have it here, Simon Kinberg, who did the X-Men franchise, did a bunch of the X-Men franchise stuff. He's the one writing this Star Wars movie. Okay. Which are any of the good franchise, any of the good X-Men? the poopy ones. I mean, depends, you know, some people really like
Starting point is 00:48:30 far from home. I hate Spider-Man European vacation. Yeah, that wasn't your favorite. Oh, wow. Man, that's my least favorite
Starting point is 00:48:36 of all the Spider-Man films. Of all Spider-Man films. Of all the Spider-Man films. Monkey, whatever he's called, something monkey. What was the, yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:44 Yeah. So you didn't like, you like it more than, you like three, Sandman and all that. You like three with Toby McGuire more than you like the European.
Starting point is 00:48:54 So if you were to ask me, what are the best Spider-Man movies of all time? First of all, Spider-Man into the Spider-verse, the very first animated one. Then Spider-Man Homecoming. Okay. Then it doesn't really matter because they're all the same. Wow. Wow. I know Brian's head is steaming right now.
Starting point is 00:49:13 I know. I was like, wow. Okay. They're all the same. They're all good. They're all good. They're all good. But they're not those other two movies.
Starting point is 00:49:23 So this guy, John Watts, made a movie. back in 2015 that I loved called cop car. And if you've never seen cop car, it's awesome. It's Kevin Bacon. Never even heard of it. It plays a cop. He's got a car.
Starting point is 00:49:36 And he teams up with a car. Yeah. The best thing about this movie might be that Shea Wiggum's in it. He is just credited as... Oh, that's good. He's just credited as man. Okay.
Starting point is 00:49:47 He's really good in it. It's so good. This is just a little, a little quiet little thing this dude made back in the day is worth your time. you ever see cop car i thought i really liked it it's on prime video right now prime seems to have every movie at the moment i don't know what's going on with that but i guess well done everybody do yeah i mean it's been what we've been leaning on with um film sack for such a long time like crimes of the new
Starting point is 00:50:09 netflix on yeah sack for some reason i don't know if i how i feel about that i just you know they annoy me in a bunch of ways but also they're getting all the movies anyway uh well we'll see what he comes up with you know what i'm excited one way or the other more star wars not a bad thing Yeah, and, you know, we do have a, what is it, the Ryan Reynolds, not Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, Star Wars movie is in post-production right now, so. The type of, so. Oh, Starfighter. Right?
Starting point is 00:50:38 Yeah. Just Starfighter. Right? Just Starfighter, right? Just Starfighter. Yeah. Yeah. The first Starfighter.
Starting point is 00:50:44 I am very interested in that. And I like his vibe. And he's a handsome man. I'll watch the notebook right now. Just kidding, I won't. Let's talk about Shatner, who says, to Star Trek. He doesn't want to do it anymore. Unless maybe there's a caveat. No to Star Trek. Yeah. He's too busy with his heavy metal now. Like he performed at Riot Fest.
Starting point is 00:51:03 I heard about that, yeah. Yeah. 95 years old up there, belted it out. Yeah. I got it. You know what? Credit to Shatner. Yeah. Say what you want about his career and all, and him getting pigeonholed into this role and then him finally being okay with it and all that stuff. Forget about all that. The guy's 90-effing five years old and he's up screaming on a microphone. still standing, walking to all his stuff, the cons and everything. Like, he's all, he's kind of awesome. Anyway, no, the cool thing about Chattner is, from the start of television to today, you can not find a decade where he is not doing something that stands out in that decade. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:45 Whether that be Twilight Zone, Star Trek, T.J. Hucker. Yep. Yep. J. Hooker. What was Boston? Boston legal was pretty good. Boston legal was good. Doing all of his music stuff.
Starting point is 00:51:59 Yeah. Yeah. Nobody helps him. He's always doing something. I love it. So basically he said, basically he said, look, I would be happy to come back to be Kirk in a Star Trek thing if there was a legitimate reason to bring Kirk back. I don't want to bring Kirk back just to bring Kirk back. So he says, I'll wait patiently until a script is delivered that does that.
Starting point is 00:52:24 but until then I have, I'm just going to say no. So I'll give you the quote. He put this up on his, on his ex account. Used to be called Twitter. I still call it that and it's a hellhole. But here's what he wrote. In order, I probably didn't have to put all that caveat in there, but in order to put a stop to the rumor mill before it starts producing even more fiction
Starting point is 00:52:44 than Star Trek ever did, let me say this. I love how piss he is. Yeah. If someone came up with a meaningful way to bring Captain Kirk back to life and gave him something genuinely interesting to do that added to the beauty and spirit of Star Trek, I would be delighted to consider it. But that has never come up. I love Star Trek just as much as all of you folks do.
Starting point is 00:53:04 Kirk has been an extraordinary part of my life, and I would never want to bring him back simply for the sake of bringing him back. So until someone comes knocking with an idea worthy of Kirk, I will wait for them or for eternity, Bill Shatner. And then he followed up, I think, this morning. he said, that is not an invitation for anybody who has an idea to send me a script. That exactly sounds like, please send your scripts too. With peace and love, stop sending me scripts.
Starting point is 00:53:34 Yeah, right. Yeah, I mean, if somebody, if somebody, like in my head immediately went to old, wizened, experienced ancient Kirk, somehow brought back from either alternate timeline or somehow he's there. Yeah. And having one last little hurrah moment would be pretty neat. But I almost kind of feel like they did that with that weird short film a couple years ago. Oh. Do you remember that? I don't. Him and Spock.
Starting point is 00:54:05 Oh, what is that called? Someone in the chat is going to remember this. But they did it with not only their blessing, but they got to use their likenesses. Oh, that's cool. Kirk was young again. What was that called? Damn it. I thought we talked about here.
Starting point is 00:54:18 I'm going to find that and send that to you guys. It's really something. I thought it was amazing. It made me tear up. I think if they wanted to bring Kirk back, they could do it as like an advisory hologram. Oh, I like that. That's fun. Like they could bring back all the captains and they're just, they've been archived as holograms that people can go and ask for advice. Like a century and, oh, I don't want to tell you that because you haven't seen the show. Never mind.
Starting point is 00:54:44 I almost spoiled something. It's a lanterns thing. Oh, okay. I thought you were talking about Thunderbolts. No. That centry thing. No, that different century. Oh, different century. Okay.
Starting point is 00:54:53 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And not century. Man Hunter. Yeah, Chad, don't get mad at me, all right? I didn't say anything. I didn't let it out. Okay, we're good. I'm going to find that video and share it because it's really neat.
Starting point is 00:55:04 Yeah, I want to see it. Yeah, it's very cool. And there's not very much talking in it. It's also a recreation of Spock. And it was all done with the blessing of the families and, you know, that's cool. All that. It's really, really neat. Anyway. Brian.
Starting point is 00:55:18 Unification. That's what it's called. Thank you. chat room. YouTube will have it. All right. Sorry. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:55:23 Unification. All right. Brian said he was going to watch a movie and then report back the next time I came on. Oh, I haven't watched it yet. It is, uh, it's, uh, on my, it's, it's like tagged in my Apple TV as what to watch next and I haven't watched it. Okay. Because everything like Tina doesn't want doesn't, she's like, yeah, I could take her leave
Starting point is 00:55:40 and I'm like, well, then I'll watch it without you. And there have just been too much stuff that I need to watch before, before I saw endgame. Yeah. No, I get it. Yes. Okay. All right. What was it again?
Starting point is 00:55:51 What was the other movie again? It is, it's called what, 1984? What's the year? No, it is the Nirvana, the show, The Band, the Movie. Oh, oh, I did watch that. Yeah, okay, never mind. But you gave me, you, to be fair, you gave me another one that was the movies, like the, the, Oh, the Time Travel movie one.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Time Travel movie, yes. And that I have not watched yet. Yes, I did, I guess I didn't talk about it on the show. I did watch Nirvana, the band, the show. the movie, the jumping off the CN Tower. And, all right, I'll admit it. I liked it more than I expected. I know, right?
Starting point is 00:56:29 That's the weird part about it. And it doesn't deserve to be as funny as it is in places. Exactly. Even a hat guy annoys me more in the trailers than he actually did in the film itself. And you had said, I don't know how they did some of things they did. I don't know either. I don't know how they did some of the things they did. with video footage on top of the CN tower.
Starting point is 00:56:54 Yeah. So some of that is recreation. So I'll give you, I'll share two behind the scenes bits. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The stuff at the end where he's doing the, the cable on top of the tower,
Starting point is 00:57:03 they actually built that part in a studio. Yeah, I would hope so. Yeah. The part where they, okay, so spoiler alert everybody, this is a time travel movie? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:57:15 So they meet their younger selves. And all of those scenes were crafted because their editor went back to like, they said they had something like 8,000 hours of footage that they had never used for their show. And they found these clips that they could build an entire scene around. Really? And so they, they were able to use that old footage, incorporate it with the new stuff. And then they had a set designer come in because those sets no longer exist and built, rebuilt the set from those old video clips. So that they could get them now. they could interact with themselves.
Starting point is 00:57:50 Wow. Okay. That's impressive. Like with the drumming and stuff. So that's probably, you know, in the old footage, they didn't have the set of drums
Starting point is 00:57:56 on the back corner. Like they do know. Yeah. Wow. Okay. That's impressive. That's really impressive. And they did it all without permits.
Starting point is 00:58:04 Oh, no way. I like that. Like when they're going into the CN Tower, they're just like smuggling cameras in. I was going to say like the security checkpoint scene felt like it was totally. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:16 Okay. When's the last time? stuff on the streets, all the stuff on the streets, all those interactions. Yeah, all the people reacting. Hey, just sit here and watch this, make sure this plug doesn't get unplugged. Is it even legal to do that anymore? Can you do that? I mean, it's not, and that's one of the things that made their show kind of a big deal. Yeah. Because that's what George Miller had to do that with the first Mad Max. He would like wait until the highways out there, the desolate really? Really? And film without a permit? Yeah. Just like. In the first movie. So they'd hurry up and film a bunch,
Starting point is 00:58:47 get out of there before the cops should show up and then go back later, do it again. Because they had no permits for anything back then. Anyway, George Miller, notwithstanding. Very cool. This is good stuff. Stephen, what's going on over at major spoilers that the world should know about right now? This week on the show, on the major spoilers podcast, we are taking a look at Drive. It's a web comic by Dave Kellett.
Starting point is 00:59:07 It is a space-faring adventure. So if people are into space and comedy and all that stuff, we'll be taking a look at it this week on the major spoilers podcast. Nice. That sounds worthy of your time. everybody get it a get out there and get it the web has it it's major spoilers dot com subscribe and thrive stay hydrated stay man or stay stay stay stay stay man stay stay stay man stay stay man stay man i was trying to say stamen yeah the other thing you want me to watch is this it's a netflix documentary called breakdown
Starting point is 00:59:35 1975 which talks about how movies in 1975 affected the culture of of where america was at that time oh interesting i mean i know it's considered like a point in time of great, you know, filmic importance or whatever. Yeah. That's cool. That's another one I need to watch. I would watch that. And Tina also had zero interest in Nirvana of the show, the band the movie.
Starting point is 01:00:00 Yeah, yeah. That's a shame. So here's the problem. So I was so ready to show you unification. I'm so excited to share this. Yeah, yeah. But in typical YouTube fashion, there are billion rip-off slash remixes slash sure. AI
Starting point is 01:00:16 recreate. It's like where is the original damn video? For shit sakes. It's a star date and then unification. And even the channel that claims people claim made it. I can't find this. I don't know where it is. There's a trailer up here for it. Maybe this went behind some kind of paywall
Starting point is 01:00:33 or something. Anyway, somebody out there, please find that. Sleuth it. I need to show this to Brian and Stephen. It's so cool. For sure. I want to check it out. All right. Let's get a quick email done. and Dusted. This is from Dave in Madison, Wisconsin, or maybe some other Madison. There are many. I would think because he did not follow up Madison with anything, I think he assumes that we know it's
Starting point is 01:00:57 the Madison, Wisconsin. Must be. This is about the jugs of pee. Here's what he says. Dear Sun and Beam. Oh, that's nice. Yeah, we're a rays of light. Yeah. So as I listen to TMS Friday from August 14th, yeah, I'm a little bit behind Bigley, he says. I've been relistening to one of my audiobooks series, so I'll catch up eventually. Just wanted to chime in about. protest songs. By the way, let me just interject here and say the beauty of and the whole half the design around how TMS started and is structured is so that if you get obsessed with an audio book for a while or you went on a two-month thing for a work thing and just could not keep up with the show, the idea is it's just always back here ready for you when you're right. Exactly. You can
Starting point is 01:01:37 catch up with the old shows. You can just start listening where, you know, the new shows pick up. And that's why we pick news stories that are usually not terribly relevant to what's going on the world right now, too. Because if that was... Peeing on an airplane could happen anytime. Yeah, these are evergreen stories we bring to you each week or each day. That's right. Anyway, he says, just want to chime in about protest songs. Where I was surprised, the covermaster wasn't, or was wondering why Springsteen hadn't done a protest song.
Starting point is 01:02:05 He has. Maybe I only heard it because I listened to the station out of Minneapolis that is called Streets of Minneapolis. I know. But that's the name of the song. It's called Streets of Minneapolis. I went and listened to it. And I was thinking, oh, man, is this going to just be streets of Philadelphia with new words? No, it's a brand new song.
Starting point is 01:02:22 And I listened to it. The first time I've heard it, first time I was aware of it this morning. And it's great. I listened to it and liked it a lot. I think this was part of why, I don't know how recently, let's say, six months ago, let's just say the powers that be were all ripping on, publicly ripping on Springste. I must have been this thing came out. Probably, yes, this was probably the trigger for a lot of that.
Starting point is 01:02:46 Well, that and Bruce Springsteen will forever be way cooler than any of the shit they got going on. For sure, yes. Bruce Springsteen's turds are cooler than the turds in Washington. The turds in the administration. I take his turds any day. That reminds me. This is totally, this will seem like a non-sequitur, but you just reminded me of it because I was talking to my brother-in-law last night about. This is about the jugs of.
Starting point is 01:03:10 turds. Can't find it. Anyway, my brother-in-law gave me a vintage shotgun shell built in the 40s. And it's never been fired. It's just like a little... Oh, interesting, really. Like a packed shell. Yeah, but it's old and like, waxy
Starting point is 01:03:26 and like, oh, it's just a guy. I love old shit. And this will never get fire. She's just going to sit over here and look at me. Yeah. Well, probably, who knows if it would even fire now, but... Yeah, it might not. It'd probably be a dud. This would be the sort of thing in survival horror movie that would get you in trouble. It would blow back at the, at the fireer. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:47 It'll kill poor Resident Evil Brian. My newest, my newest Brian to my Brian pack is my new favorite filmic Brian is now Brian from Resident Evil. He is a very good Brian. Can't complain about that, Brian. Although I think it's a Y in the name, which maybe is appropriate for him. I don't know. He says, there's a lot of Y. Yeah, there's a lot of Y in his name.
Starting point is 01:04:10 Yeah, where he ends up is very why. Yeah, why. Anyway, he goes on to say, so I know I'm far in the past and it's already maybe been well actually, but I figured I'd write in anyway. Well, I hadn't been, so I'm glad you did. No, it hadn't, so I'm glad you did. And it gave me something to listen to this morning.
Starting point is 01:04:25 So thank you for that, Dave. Says, see you in a few months when I finally catch up. Velvet Horizon quartz, Dave and Madison. Yeah, nicely done. Understood the assignment. Three random words for your closing. Got to say, a little rare these days. You guys are.

Starting point is 01:11:06 I remember when Herman Melville wrote Moby Dick. He kind of got a few things wrong, but we were willing to let it go. Yes, my father was the Sandston man before. me and his father before him. There's the space ogre who says something like, I'll use the calculus. Well, what's that was doing these days? You know,
