Starting point is 00:00:00 Did you know the world's largest mall is in Iran? It has a floor area of roughly 21 million square feet. I wonder what the food court is like. Anyway, support TMS today at patreon.com slash TMS. Coming up on the morning stream, Hambone Chamberlain. So lonesome I could edit. That's Brian in the corner. Hope Granny.
Starting point is 00:00:19 I believe genitals are real. Giant poops are what you take. Pooping on the moon. Next door. Always a mistake. You have no honor bar. Why do. Thirds suddenly appear. This is about the bags of lunar poop.
Starting point is 00:00:35 No power kills Scott Johnson's plans. I don't want your damn omelet. Um, shirtless eggs. There are two gates one. Artistic butthole choices with Dr. Nicky and more on this episode of the morning stream. I just have some pizza pockets, some popcorn and some skittles. I was just in time to save you from a charge of murder. The Morning Stream.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Don't F-Fee with the babysitter. So everybody, welcome to TMS. This is the Morning Stream for October 26, 2000, and 26. We got it 26, 26 today, Brian. Yes, we do. I noticed that when I was doing daily music headlines. And I almost went, as I did it. I'm glad I didn't because then Hammond would have had to edit that out.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Yeah, but also make Hammond do that. It's fine. Make him do it, Hammond. You know, earn some, earn your, earn your key. Keep, ham. Earn your keep, ham boy, ham bone. Ham-on. Do you think anyone ever called him Hambone growing up? Like, that was his nickname.
Starting point is 00:01:50 I'm sure they did. I'm sure. Hambone. Hambone. Old Hambone Chamberlain. He's musical. You know, it feels like it's old blues musician, handbone. Yeah. Hambone Chamberlain. And this new hit, so lonesome I could edit a podcast. Oh, that old hit. So good.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Yeah. I mean, they play it too much, but it's excellent. It's good to see you all. Johnson, that's Brian in, but we're here to do a show and it's good to be back in the saddle. Man, I had such plans this weekend. Well, Brian's out in Phoenix. Not that I couldn't done this if you were home, it doesn't matter. But while I was in, not Phoenix, in Prescott, I was like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:02:28 I really want to get my studio in shape. I keep saying I'm going to do a bunch of stuff. There's things I need to get rid of, sell, throw away, take to goodwill, you know, big, category, categories of things I want to do. and I thought Saturday, I got a chunk of time in the morning through the afternoon. I'm like, I'm going to do, this is it. I'm locking in. I'm going to go for it.
Starting point is 00:02:50 I said this on like Thursday and Friday even. I was like, all right. You know, it was a benefit that I was gone because we didn't have film sack because we recorded ahead of time and freed up your Sunday. That's true. Presumably because you didn't have to sit there and record clips and watch a movie. That's true. I just had the post on Sunday.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Yeah, carved it out. And so I was like, sweet, we're going to do this. we're going to focus. Kim had some other stuff she was committed to, so I didn't even have to worry about, well, should I, you know, be doing something with her or any of that. I didn't have to think about any of those things. So come down here, I get started. About half hour into the end of it, power goes out for five minutes. Just for five minutes. I'm like, okay. I'm not going to live with that. My UPS never went down, all the stuff that needs to stay up, stayed up. I went upstairs for a while, because it was dark in here. And I thought, all right, well, if this clears up, I'll go back. It was temporary blip is what it felt like. Five minutes. later, power's back. All right, sweet. We're going back in. I go hammering down here and I'm really making progress. And now I got stuff laying around and it's actually kind of a problem if the lights go out because I have to get out my flashlight. Things are in the wrong place. Nothing would be working if you had to do a podcast that minute. Yeah, I'm going to trip on something. There's something fall over on my face, whatever. And power goes out again. I went, oh, they always, they never come
Starting point is 00:04:08 with just a quick blip. There's always a little something else. And then this one went longer. five and then went longer than 10 and then my UPS is like yeah we're not you know we're not going to last forever here what do you want to do I was like oh shit I guess I'll shut the I'll shut computers down so I did that yeah and then I waited and I waited and nothing 20 minutes 30 minutes
Starting point is 00:04:29 and I went I'm gonna go upstairs hang out with the dog and get something hot to drink it was kind of cold I'm just gonna chill for a minute wait wait wait wait check with the stupid intermountain power or whatever it is, Rocky Mountain Power, and they're like, we are not aware of any. I'm like, how can you not be aware? It's freaking 30 minutes into this thing.
Starting point is 00:04:48 So I'm thinking, is it just like a neighbor or two and we trip something? Do you, is one of your first things, one of the first things I do is I go to the front door and I just kind of look out and see like if anybody's porch lights are on or, you know, is this a me thing or is this a whole neighborhood thing? Which is what I did at that point because I went, man, this is weird. So I go outside and it looked like from everywhere I could see. I couldn't see anybody's ports lights or any kind of extra lights on. This guy, one guy with a bunch of Halloween shit usually just has them on LEDs and things.
Starting point is 00:05:18 And they didn't seem to be on. It seemed like everything was off. So I went, all right, this is more widespread than me. So then about a half hour after that, we get the automated voicemail thing from the power company going, hello. This is Utah or whatever power, Rocky Mountain Power. There's an outage. I'm like, yeah, we know. We're freaking living in it.
Starting point is 00:05:40 And Kim goes, Kim was on our way home from her thing. It was like a baby shower thing. She goes, Power's out? I said, yeah. She goes, oh, okay. Well, what do you want to do?
Starting point is 00:05:48 I said, can we go to the mall or something? Let's get the F out of here. I'm pissed. Yeah. Yeah. So we go to the mall and do a bunch of mall things. And then we're gone, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:06:00 we're gone four or five hours. Not at the mall the whole time. We did some other stuff. But the phone suddenly, bring, bring, get the phone. Hi. The alert.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Yeah. This is Utah power. whatever again. Your power's on. Like, sweet. So we go home and it was on. But by then, the kids were coming over. We had other plans, other stuff happening. It's like all my dashed against the rocks of time, man. You're the best laid plans of Scott and men. Yeah. And I got like half a bag of crap over here that I did get to go through. I mean, there was some progress. But I had, I had heavy duty plans in here. Sure. Sure. Is it like rearranging the studio for, you know, better for guests or the Monday show or what kind of things.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Kind of all sorts of stuff. I want to have, I want to change up my background, which I only did a little of that, only had before the power went out. I want to change where things are located. I'm not going to move too much of my like desk stuff around, but I'm going to prep it for better lighting and some other, just, you know, tweaks, upgrades. Yeah. Yeah. Just, uh, sometimes just need to move the furniture around, you know, just to feel good about where you're putting shit. So I got a little done. Also, a big, it's just a big, like, I need to literally need to shed things. I need to get rid of stuff.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Stuff I've just not using. Like, I found, I found things and went, okay, when's the last time I touched that? Because my brain's saying, oh, keep it. It's cool. You'll love it. And my other half of my brain's gone, but you haven't touched it in five years. I don't need this. Yeah. If I haven't touched it in five years, I don't effing need it.
Starting point is 00:07:32 I really don't think I do. Now, it's like a photo of my dad or something or, you know, it's not important. But things like, right, I mean, there are things in your life that it's like, yeah, I there's no reason for me to keep this. I bought this tech, thought I'd use it all the time, used it for the first month, and
Starting point is 00:07:48 no, I don't do anything with it. Yeah, it may as well sell it, give it away, find a home for it, something. But, um, oh, that's the other thing I'll say about the next door app while the power was out. Because I thought, well, of all the apps I have, what's going to be the most informing about, you know?
Starting point is 00:08:04 Oh, the, the quagmire known as next door. Yeah. So I, I open that and I go, all right, see what we got. And sure enough, there's an official, like, notification post thing there. They're tied into some service that says, there is an outage in your area. I'm like, all right, well, at least the app knows what's going on. Let's see what the people say. So I scroll down, my cat found a dead bird. Is this your bird? And then the next one's like, my car's broken in at 3 a.m. by some hooligans. Like, it's just constant nonsense. And Obama caused it.
Starting point is 00:08:40 No, it wasn't. It was, you know, like everything seems to devolve into politics. And, well, you shouldn't have left your car outside. Only stupid people leave their cars outside. Yeah. Or some skeevy guy going, I make egg omelets in the mornings. Anyone want one? Like, I'm not coming over there for your damn omelet.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Right. I have a portable burner, and I'm making habachi eggs for people if they like them. I've got extras. Come on over. Part of me is like, what a neighborly thing to do. And part of me is like, I've seen your profile photo. You don't even wear a shirt in your photo.
Starting point is 00:09:13 I'm not going over there. There's no way you're wearing a shirt when you make these eyes. Yeah, F that. But while I was fighting freaking power, Brian was in Arizona, fighting the power. No, I don't know what you were doing. Tell us about the powers that be. I was there for a baby shower. Prescott, Arizona.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Oh, I have a picture. Let's see. I actually sent you one picture, but I think I'm going to send you another one to show you a couple pictures of the Prescott Airport because it's, you know, know, fascinating, the Prescott Airport. Sure. So hop up, pull up in here. Oh, this is that little municipal deal you were telling us about. This is the little, little regional airport.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Oops, done. There we go. First of all, those are, those are all the nieces. All the nieces. How many, so how many, these, if they're all nieces, you get one, two, three, four, five, six nieces. Yes. Damn. So, and they're really not, I mean, technically, they're cousins and second cousins.
Starting point is 00:10:04 They're grand cousins. I don't know how that works. But, but they've always called us Uncle Brian and Aunt Tina. Now, the, going from left to right, me, there's me, people. That's me on the left. I was going to say that. I looked a lot like you. I don't want to say, though, for sure.
Starting point is 00:10:17 Yes, I know. Well, it's, I don't want to offend anyone. Peyton is second there with the A&M, Texas A&M shirt. Maddie is next there with the, she's the pregnant one. She's the one having the baby shower. Nice. Jackie is there in the red. I'm sorry, did I say, did I say, Peyton?
Starting point is 00:10:35 Jilly is there. I've been doing that all weekend. And like I know Peyton, I know Jilly, and I'm getting named them. You know, I'll say one's name when I mean the other one. Jilly is there with a Texas name, I'm sure. Then Maddie, then Jackie. Peyton is there with the little red streak in her hair, top fourth, fifth from the left on the top. Yep.
Starting point is 00:10:56 Carolyn is the one kind of hunched down with sunglasses. Gray shirt. And then Rainey, who I do Uncle Cousin with. Oh, it's going to ask which I couldn't recognize which one was the one from the YouTube. I'm sorry to tell because she's got her pulled back, but normally she's got her bright red hair out there. And then, of course, Tina on the right. So the four sisters are kind of the four in the middle without Peyton, who's got the little red streak in her hair. The four kind of in the middle are the four sisters.
Starting point is 00:11:23 And then the two daughters are Jilly next to me and Peyton, fifth from the left. And they're awesome. Just the coolest people. Peyton was cracking me up all weekend because every time she walked into a room should go, what is up my guy kind of the Grinch the Grinch thing from that
Starting point is 00:11:42 meme video of the the Grinch at Universal Studios somebody comes up and he goes What is up my guy? Yeah And then she kept repeating because she lives in Texas and apparently one of the political ads
Starting point is 00:11:57 repeats James Tellerico to Loco for Texas and so she's been she was repeating that all week and to the point that was driving her mother crazy I'll bet I'll bet
Starting point is 00:12:06 Yeah. Yeah. Next photo down is the outside of the Prescott Airport where you go in. This is awesome. It looks like a strip mall. It's my cover of the Spice Girl song, To Become One. It's called Two Gates One. So there really are only two gates?
Starting point is 00:12:25 They're only two gates. And they don't use gate number one. Oh, that's right. You're saying they closed it or something. Basically, if you go to Prescott, if you fly out of Prescott, you are going either to the only flights that leave Prescott go to Los Angeles and Denver. That's it. Wow. That's it.
Starting point is 00:12:42 No other, no other, nothing. No other flights. No other flights out to other places. Weird. Weird. There's a little two and two airplane taking us there and back. Little two seats, four across two seats, then an aisle and then the two seats. And the flight out, we
Starting point is 00:12:58 had this flight attendant who they all, on both flights out and back, the flight attendant just reads from her phone what she's supposed to say, you know, the event emergency, but this one would drop syllables like nobody's business. So she'd say, in the event emergency, they're packing in the back of your seat, back pocket that tell you what to do if you do the blah, blah, blah. And she kept calling him auction masks.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Oh. And the mask is dropped from the ceiling, put on your auction mask before you help another person, blah, blah, blah. And I'm looking at Tina saying, do I put on the auction mask and go, hey, Ms. Ada $2 to $5. $6, $6, who's got seven? She sounds like a freaking auctioneer, the way she's putting a, words in half. That's crazy. Like efficiency of United, we don't need to use all the syllables.
Starting point is 00:13:42 Auction. Auction. Auction mask. Auction mask. In the event that there's no auction, an auction mask goes dropped down. She just took that middle syllable and threw it away, man. Yeah. Don't need it.
Starting point is 00:13:54 You know, whatever. Yeah, that's wild. That's cool. Well, they got to get people in and out of there, man, you know. Zip-Zip. The Prescott Airport also has a restaurant. I'll send you a photo of the Prescott Airport. Port Restaurant.
Starting point is 00:14:08 It is right there. There it is. Oh my gosh. Really? Are you kidding me? That is the restaurant. It is an honor bar. Everything's $3. And it's an honor bar. Pringles and sun chips and nutter butter and Werther's originals.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Everything's $3. You just walk up, pay $3. which is a great deal for a can of Pringles and not such a great deal for a can of pop. It's like a days in continental breakfast pad. Kind of, yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, you just go there and be like, all right, five items, 15 bucks. Great. Okay. Man, that manages somehow to be expensive too.
Starting point is 00:14:57 It does feel like it. Yeah, when you're just getting like your five little snacks, it's like, wow, sun chips and some wafers and stuff like that. Like a bag of sun chips should never be three. dollars right i would think i would think so but yeah whatever like the big bags used to be that now we're paying that for little ones i know for the little ones exactly bastards um but uh you know friday and saturday mornings i took it upon myself to be uh the the cook for for breakfast for everybody i was thinking all right i'll cook breakfast then i'll get some time to hang out and then we'll go do something for lunch and then hang out for a while and then we'll go do something for dinner no it was basically
Starting point is 00:15:33 like, you know, all right, cook breakfast. Okay, everybody, we need to get dressed because we're all going to, um, we need to run and pick up this from this store. We need to pick up this other store. And then we need to go to a third store and pick this other thing up and then maybe get lunch. And then we're taking all that over to, um, to Maddie's house and, uh, helping them set up for the baby shower or helping blow up balloons to create a balloon arch or whatever.
Starting point is 00:15:58 And, and basically, you know, both days. It was like the Saturday and Sunday or, uh, uh, Friday. Saturday, busy from the morning right until evening, and we didn't get back until late. And you guys had a little more chill on Sunday before you had to leave? A little more chill on Sunday. So most of the nieces left in a car to head down to head back to Texas. And then two of the other ones went back to, basically Maddie and Rainey went back to Maddie's house to hang out for a while.
Starting point is 00:16:27 So Tina and I were free. We met up with Lydia and John in the tadpole who live in Prescott. man he caught them when they weren't traveling the country again yeah exactly well they go back and forth between uh the catsgills and and prescott and so we got them we caught them during their they're wintering in uh prescott they took us to jerome which was really cool jerome is like an old mining town that was a ghost town for a while and then became like an art hub like taos oh i like those kinds of places i was hoping it was a dude they took us to jerome and jerome gave them the James Jerome, I know, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Fortunately, I mean, there probably was a guy they're selling drugs named Jerome. There might have been. Might have been. But it's really cool. It's very much, like, obviously, we're there during Halloween or the Halloween month, so there's definitely a big Halloween kind of push to it. But there's also, like, you know, these are permanent signs that say haunted pizza and the haunted hamburger. Wow.
Starting point is 00:17:28 They really lean into this, like, you know, haunted ghost town. stuff or old town and they have a store that is entirely kaleidoscopes and i'd been like all right kaleidoscopes whatever i was so freaking trans fixed by the way they do these things now it's it's very different than the kaleidoscopes you and i had as kids or or at least uh that that our sisters and and female friends had when we were kids those those tubes with the the the little like uh full of glitter and caro syrup. But no, like, there's something like these cool brass things that point down to a bowl of dried flowers, and you turn the bowl and, like, the mirrors inside the kaleidoscope,
Starting point is 00:18:14 like give you all these really cool reflections of the flowers where parts of them are recognizable and parts of them are like, wow, what kind of, what kind of, what am I looking at here? It's so cool. Wild. That's cool. So I realize there was such diversity in the kaleidoscope world. Really? really weren't. There were some that were
Starting point is 00:18:31 $2,500. Jay. Yes. Yes. And that one was really cool though. Better was. That was probably amazing. But like you have to be a certain kind of have to be a certain kind of kaleidoscope fan to put down that much of price.
Starting point is 00:18:45 You have to be a real kaleidoscopian. Collidescopic man. I don't know. Something like that. What's his power? Well, it sounds like a fun trip. That's what matters. It was a blast. It was a really, really good time. So glad to be back, but, oh, they did something weird. So because it was a little tiny plane, we even carry-on bags, like my backpack I could take on the plane,
Starting point is 00:19:11 but my little roly bag had to get gate checked. And then we got it right as we got out. But so they check it at the gate. And then when you get back to Denver, instead of being the thing where you walk down onto the, like take the stairs down onto the tarmac, pick up your bag, and then go back into the terminal. they brought out the jetway but there's no room for everybody just to stand there and wait for their bags
Starting point is 00:19:35 in that little entry point of the jetway so everybody just kind of lean like formed a line along the wall as they were bringing bags in and so only the front two or three people could see the bags coming in grab theirs if they see it and then walk out so it's just like long tube we're all taking up one side
Starting point is 00:19:55 and then people as they grab their bags come out the other side Right. And somebody, while they're waiting for their bag, leans up against the wall and shuts all the lights off in the jetway. And it is pitch black in there. I don't like that. People go, huh?
Starting point is 00:20:14 Yeah, I would panic a little bit. And I go, all bags look alike. Make sure you grab yours. Yeah, that's the other thing. Everyone's going to be blind grabbing their bags. Exactly. So I got math. And so the lights come back on and Tina's saying, I think somebody must have leaned against the light panel.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Just as the woman comes by and goes, yeah, it was me. Oh, it sucks to be that person, man. Yeah, it was funny. That's great, though. Anyway, we're back home, happy to be home, catching up with things. It's now the point in which I, you know, all this stuff that I pull from all these other places to put in my computer bag to take on the trip. Now I know how to figure out where they all go back, where they're supposed to be my pen, my favorite Scrivener pen. in my bag, my apple pencil.
Starting point is 00:20:59 They all have homes. They got to go home. They have to go back to the regular homes, which is somewhere on my desk. Somewhere on Brian's desk. All right, everybody. Well, let's shift gears a little. Let's play a game. That music signifies a very specific thing happening. That is Brian Dunaway joining us for a little bit of the old Monday morning countdown.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Trivia countdown time. Brian Dunaway, what are you doing? Oh, hi, Scott and Brian. Just getting ready for the spookiest week of the year. year. Yeah, baby. Whoa. Hold on,
Starting point is 00:21:34 what day is Halloween this year? Saturday. Saturday. I like that. I don't like it when it was, when I was a kid, it'd be like on a Monday or something. The hell is that about?
Starting point is 00:21:44 You still have to go to school the next day. It's like, you know, you go to school with like a thousand pieces of candy in your backpack, though, and you're, no, that's true.
Starting point is 00:21:51 That's true. You spend the week just living like a can't. Gorgeing on candy in the school. Mom can't tell me what to do at school. That's right. ever teach your mom. You're not the mom of me teach mom. No.
Starting point is 00:22:04 I may have a lot case I call you mom. I don't have them here. My friend Dan, his mom taught at our school. So that was a bummer because he always felt like you couldn't get away with anything. Because she could be right around the corner. Anytime he did anything.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Oh, hi, mom. He had her for a class, which would suck to have your mom for a class. But then also just any time in the hall, she's always wandering around telling people to pull your pants up. You know, you can't wear that. You can't do this. And he was just like, my mom's going to catch me if I do that.
Starting point is 00:22:31 And we're like, I must suck to have your mom at school, Dan. Anyway, Hey, it's good to have you here. Yeah, this week, I'm enjoying all the holiday specials,
Starting point is 00:22:42 the Halloween specials. I'm watching a few things that are a little off, you know, a little bit different. Like I've had some nostalgia for some reason for some Pete and Pete. Remember that TV show? I remember it. Vigely.
Starting point is 00:22:52 I've never seen a single episode of Pete and Pete and Pete. Watch, watch Halloween. It's as bad as you remember. All right. Alright, okay. Yeah, all right, we'll check it out. I may watch the Werewolf by Night thing.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Maybe I'll watch that one this week. That one's good. Get some, some, yeah. Rewatchable, that thing, I'll tell you. Yeah, it really is. Let's get into it. Brian, will you explain the game so we know what we're doing? Sure.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Welcome to Do Frogs Have Brains? A countdown-style trivia game. I've got 20 questions across various subjects, including science, art, entertainment, history, and more. Scott and Brian will each get 90 seconds to answer as many of these questions as they can. if you don't know the answer to a question, you want to skip, just say pass. The player with the most points after 90 seconds wins the prize for their contestant. Contestants have been pulled from our Patreon supporters at patreon.com slash TMS.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Scott is playing for Ben Schalk. Sweet. I like the Shalks. And Ben is one of them. Yep. That's right. Brian is playing for Matt Eins. Mattine. Mattine.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Mattines. Mattines. Mattines. And we'll talk about what those prizes are in just a moment as we as we, as we, uh, get to the prize giveaway portion of our game nice uh brian i'm going to put you into a soundproof booth zip you up i'll go i'll go watch you a little i'll finish watching the uh pete and pete the adventures of peter do you a minute see you a all right all right yeah all right scott if you're ready i will start the uh the timer when i ask you your first question i am ready let's go here we go the

I don't know. I don't know. Oh, man, there's a couple of now. I remember Paul Harvey now. Now I remember it.
Starting point is 00:26:07 Yeah, of course, you remember Paul Harvey. Shit. All right. Oh, my gosh. You started out great. Started out great. Usually it's the other way around. I used to start crappy and then get a few on the tail end.
Starting point is 00:26:17 And then one of those, that Chamberlain one I'm blown away by. So we'll figure that out of us. Oh, yeah. I can't wait to talk about that one. All right. Well, well done. Let's bring Brian. here? Why do turds suddenly appear? Hopefully he'll know. Remember that? I can tell you what year that was. That was 2006 and you sent that to my phone. Look, do I remember that? Absolutely not. Do I acknowledge that I have a lot of gaps in my memory? Absolutely. Absolutely. And that sounded like me. I did it. Do I dispute that it was me? No, I do not. I do not.
Starting point is 00:26:55 I, Corrin, the chat says, why do turds suddenly appear? It's a biological process, but I think I answered that later. What are we doing here? Why are we doing? We could get into it, but we won't. All right. Well, I feel like I did okay, but Brian are you doing pretty good. Was that four?
Starting point is 00:27:13 Yeah, not bad. That's four. That's four. All right, Brian, let's see how you do. I'll start the timer after. Yeah, four. Do you not see four? Do you see four?
Starting point is 00:27:21 Well, that's the whole thing that corn does. It's like he counts. and he's tick, tick, four, four, they say it in the album. Anyway, continue. Oh, corn the band. All right. Oh, I was thinking corn, the vegetable. Yeah, no, maize.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Yeah, I should have said maize. Maze. No, corn. Yeah, your people call it maze. So, that's right. All right, Brian. I'll start the timer after I ask the first question. If you're ready, then here we go.
Starting point is 00:27:44 The 1992 Winter Olympic Games were held in Albertville, a village located in what country? I don't know, pass. What is the name of the area of the Atlantic in which ships an aircraft are said to disappear under mysterious circumstances. Oh, a rainbow triangle. The handheld Palm Pilot was one of the first PDAs. What did the initials PDA stand for? Uh, but it's a personal digital assistant.
Starting point is 00:28:07 When did India gain independence, 1938, 1947, or 1953? 38. Who was the first non-Italian to be elected Pope since 1532? Uh, granny. How long is an umbilical cord? record about 11, 20 or 28 inches. 28 inches.
Starting point is 00:28:29 In 1946, what's standby radio personality added the rest of the story to his newscasts. Paul Harvey. Shit. How many rooms traditionally make up a Viking lung house? Eight. What does the Russian word
Starting point is 00:28:43 spasiba mean? Bite me. Les Miz Robb is a musical based on a novel by which writer. Oh, um, Hugo, victory. Yeah, Hugo. What Colleen McCulloch novel is made into a successful 1980s miniseries starring Richard Chamberlain.
Starting point is 00:29:02 What term describes the purchase of securities with borrowed money using the shares themselves as collateral? Unrealized funds, I don't know. Who had a 1986 hit with Addicted to Love? Oh, Jesus. Oh, Jesus. Why am I blanking? I don't know. Jesus. Oh, it's somebody's names, I don't know. Cicera. I don't know. name. Somebody's dame.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Jesus. Why are I blanking all that? Robert Palmer. Robert. Jesus. That one came right to my head. Well, Paul Harvey for some reason, mysteriously would not.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Yeah. Let's go through some of the rest of these. Albertville is a village located in France. PDA, you guys, a personal digital assistant. India gained a dependence in 1947. Scott got that one. First non-Italian to be elected Pope since 1532 was John Paul
Starting point is 00:29:50 the second. Well, not granny. All right. Not granny. Unambulical cord is about 20 inches long. Paul Harvey. Oh, how many rooms traditionally make up a Viking longhouse? 12.
Starting point is 00:29:59 One. One big ass room. If I had really thought about it, I was just playing Valhalla, the Assassin's Cree game. They're all like that. I don't know what I was saying. They are. They are.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Let's see. Russian word, Spasiba means thank you. Spasiba. Okay. So not my kid's my blood. Lema. Rob you got was Victor Hugo.
Starting point is 00:30:20 The, the Richard Chamis. Mimberland miniseries, of course, all of our mothers loved it. Oh, it's the thorn birds. Shit. Oh, the thorn birds. Oh. You start saying people's names.
Starting point is 00:30:31 I'm like, I don't know those names. My mom loved that so much. I know. Let's see. Purchasing securities with borrowed many using the shares themselves as collateral is buying on margin or just margin would have been fine. And then you got Robert Palmer or you didn't get Robert Palmer. I didn't get Robert Palmer. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:47 I was addicted to something, but it wasn't that. Right. Exactly. So that puts us at a tie. Let me see if I can find Somebody had sent in a tiebreaker question Let me find it really quick If I can't find it really quick
Starting point is 00:31:00 Then I will Here we go Then you'll just declare a winner Nope I have a This one comes from Ryan Smith Who sent in a really good tiebreaker The owner of the Utah Jazz And the Utah mammoth
Starting point is 00:31:13 Is that amazing? Exactly, yes Ryan Smith without a B Oh never mind that Sorry sorry Okay, Scott, I'll let you pick whether you want to answer the question or give higher or lower. I'll do higher or low. Okay, all right.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Brian. Okay. All right. Brian. It's a great weight. That's what you're going to do. Oddly enough, it doesn't have great weight. But let's see how you do.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Brian, how many bags of poop? are on the moon, human waste on the moon. How many bags of poop are on the moon? Because, you know, when you take a ship up there, you want this little weight as possible in the cabin. Right, right, right. Is that what you think? So they just leave, they just leave their bags of poop on the moon.
Starting point is 00:32:08 Right. Okay. How many bags of poop are on the moon? How many bags of poop are on the moon? Now, you didn't say how many, I could think through this one maybe, but that's boring. So instead, how would you do that? Would you like figure out how many people have been on the moon?
Starting point is 00:32:24 Pretty much, pretty much. Then the average amount to poop and, you know, that kind of thing. I'm guessing they poop less. Like the food they ate up there, the process, the lack of gravity causes slowdown on your system. We could logic this out, but that's no fun. I'm just going to say. It's actually even more. It's poop and urine and vomit, by the way, just let you know.
Starting point is 00:32:45 So there's puke on the moon. All in the same bag. Yeah, but those are separate, right? Those are separate. I'm assuming you put, plus you got to consider the way there. Did you poop one the way there? Did you poop one way back?
Starting point is 00:32:56 Did you poop before you leave? Got any shy poopers? You know, can't poop in space. Too many people around you. So I'm going to say, yeah, 42. 42. 42 is incorrect. Scott is the actual answer higher or lower than 42.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Okay. So that seems like an awful lot. That seems like a lot of shit, doesn't it's got. For not that. many walk-on visits. So I'm going to say lower. I assume they, I'm assuming they threw them out the
Starting point is 00:33:25 window and let gravity take care of it. Toss them on the way out. Yeah. Just roll them down the window. Because those definitely have roll down windows as they leave for sure. I'm going to say less because I just, that seems like too much. 42 is a lot. 42 does feel like a lot.
Starting point is 00:33:41 All right. Well, on the moon, we've got two golf balls, 12 cameras, 12 pairs of boots, a gold plate, a telescope and a total of 96 bags of human waste. Are they this big? Are they little teeny baggies? I think they're probably one per customer, one per poop, right? Like so Neil Armstrong pooped and peed and that's one bag.
Starting point is 00:34:05 And then Buzz Aldrin, I guess Buzz Aldrin has been on the moon. But you know, you get that, you get the. Wait, he was there. Well, sometimes they just, sometimes it is killed. No, he went. He's the one that punched the guy for saying he didn't go. Remember? Oh, right, right, right. Who's the guy who didn't go? Oh, the guy that was, the guy that was sick.
Starting point is 00:34:23 Gary Sinise. Gary Sinise. It was. Gary Sinise has never been on the moon. It's true. Yeah, he's been on the moon, true. He doesn't go in a bag, though. Congratulations, then, going to Brian's player, Matt Eans. You're going to be getting a copy of Rebel Galaxy and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. Oh, great games. Yeah, I love those days. Boy, talk about a Rebel Galaxy Outlaw.
Starting point is 00:34:48 throwing your poop on the moon. Yeah, that's right. Exactly. It's pretty rebellious. And I believe those are all good old games, uh, codes. I don't know who sent those in because they're just listed here as good old games, but, but don't worry, Ben, Schalk, you're getting a copy of Chambers, courtesy of Juniper. And that one's on Steam. That's a Steam code for Chambers. Yeah, yeah, for those splits. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:35:08 Very, very nice. We have winners all around, everybody. Oh, you know what I want to do just for fun? If Brian and, uh, if Brian done away and Scott Johnson had to fight, fist of fisticuffs here with swords and shields let's see who would win yeah yeah let's see scott's the orc all right done away's the guy right come on let's go all roll oh good hit nice half and half about 50% oh shit I'm going down oh I'm going down oh oh Brian one well all barely though we could we could use that instead of doing the tiebreaker yeah it would think of the same result but we got poop math so you know yeah much much more
Starting point is 00:35:46 trying to get poop math and big thanks to Ryan for sending that in. Yeah. And also a little trivia, the death sounds when you go, I took those out of the original Dark Souls, death sounds. Wow. So I guess I owe them money. All the way do you make from this, you owe them money.
Starting point is 00:36:05 Yeah, all this huge cash I'm about to make from this dumb thing I made. Dunaway, it is a pleasure to hang with you. We'll do it again on Wednesday. And it'll be our first full week of contest in a while. had it for a week of two. Yeah, it's in a row. Yeah, yeah. Wednesdays have been weird, but we'll have you back and then we'll have more to talk about
Starting point is 00:36:24 then. In the meantime, do me one favor. Go count my poops. Okay. Kiss my butt. And do that too. Yeah, may as well count them. Count your butts and kiss your poops. Especially if there's a lot.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Count them. That's a good idea. Oh, yeah, no, definitely good to take inventory on your poops. Yeah. And let your doctor know. He's going to be interested in those things. I've taken 96 poops, Doc. All right, everybody.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Guess what it's time for? It's time for, oh, you know, it's going to make her a new thing and I didn't do it yet. Dang it. That's all right. I'll get it. All right, that'll do for now. Hey, look who we got here. It's Nikki here for science.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Dr. Nikki, what's going on? Can you hear us? Oh, there she is. Do you hear us? I don't think she can hear us. She might not be able to hear us. No. You don't hear us?
Starting point is 00:37:11 I can't hear you for some reason. Weird. She's answering our question, but she doesn't know she's answering our question. We hear her. You're sure Mike is connected, so that makes sense. Why can't she hear us? I had that problem this morning with, I don't know what was going on when I was starting do daily music headlines, but no, I was not hearing me on any of it.
Starting point is 00:37:33 It's so weird. Where should I be hearing you in clean feed or? You should hear me in, yes. Yeah, you tell her that, but she has no idea what you're saying. Yeah, I'm just going to make faces. Yes. Yeah. Clean feed.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Yeah, you should hear us in clean feed. So maybe it might be a muted tab or something. Tab maybe. I can hear myself. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's going good.
Starting point is 00:37:57 It's going good. Yeah. I like this. This is a science. It's a kind of science. Okay. So she hopped out, which means I will add her again shortly as soon as she joins. There we go.
Starting point is 00:38:13 All right. Hello. Can you hear us now? Can you hear us? Hmm. Hmm. Still don't hear us. Yeah. It's something with her output settings because she would need to hear her snow. Hello? No, not now. Okay. Not now.
Starting point is 00:38:29 I can try a different. Yeah. And I see, yeah, when she talks, I see her little green bar moving. So I know that that that should work. Yeah. And you hear when she's talking, right? I hear when she's talking. Yeah. Definitely coming through. That's right. Now you're okay. again we talk as if she can hear us I know exactly it's what people do with us
Starting point is 00:38:50 you know they're in their car and we say something stupid and they're like Brian no that's not right and even though we can't hear them that we have the conversations or they have the conversations all the time all right we'll try this one did that work I can hear you oh I can hear us now yay what was what was that I wonder that was weird it was safari
Starting point is 00:39:09 oh stupid safari Hey, what's going on? How's, how's, wait, are you in Norway? Where are you? I'm in Austria. Austria. Austria, cool.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Wait, you weren't Austria last time. Where were you last time? You were somewhere else? I was in France last time, I think. And this is all like, this would be like me driving to Reno, right? Like, it's not far. It was a 30-hour drive. Gee, never mind.
Starting point is 00:39:34 For like three days. I should have flown, but I didn't. 30 hours. Are we going to get a shot of you on a nice pretty green hill in Sal's Spitting Around singing the Hills are alive. You know, my friends who are visiting from the U.S. Absolutely want to do the Sound of Music tour, and I think they're going to haul me onto it.
Starting point is 00:39:51 Nice. Oh, please. Then, and if you need tips, just hit up Shane in our tadpool. He'll tell you how to do the spin around the circle. Oh, yeah, of course. Yeah, yeah. And if you ever need to shave your head completely, your eyebrows and everything one day,
Starting point is 00:40:08 he's got you covered there too. He knows how to do it. He's got you covered. Uncovered. Uncovered. Yeah, there you go. Hey, it's good to see. Before we get into today's science topic,
Starting point is 00:40:18 I wanted to mention something about a goat to you. Okay. So anytime there's goats involved, I think of Dr. Nicky, because she does a lot of research with goats and whatnot. And I was at a Halloween with the kids the other night. We were at a Halloween like pumpkin walk thing where you pick your pumpkins. And then there's also animals there. It's like a farm normally.
Starting point is 00:40:39 But it's all set up for Halloween. It was really fun. So we're over there hanging out with the kids, having a good time. And they had a goat pen with a couple of goats. And one of the goats was being kind of onry and pecking at the ground and just being a bit of a pisser. But this other goat comes wandering over to the edge of the thing where I am. And he sticks this little head up and he looks at me. And then he puts it over through the fence thing and just rests it on my hand.
Starting point is 00:41:05 And like lean to my hand. It's just like laid there. And no matter where I pet him or touched him on the horns or any of this stuff, didn't bother him. He was just like happy to have a human touch, right? How sweet, yeah. So does that mean that? So here's my question. Does that mean that you're married now? From me? Am I now dating this goat? No. Does it mean when a goat is like docile like that and like clearly wants to be with you? Is that a sign that they're having a bad time?
Starting point is 00:41:35 Do you know what I mean? They want to get out of here? Like please let me if I could speak. I'd tell you, please. help me escape tonight or anything of that? I think it's just temperament. You know, some dogs are cuddly and some are not and I assume it's the same with goats. Oh, see, sometimes Occam's razor is all you have to apply to this business. But I'm not really a psychologist. Maybe your head smelled like food too. Had you eaten something recently? Wait, you're not a goat psychologist? That's a shame. You don't know what they're thinking all the time or why they eat tin cans in the cartoons or any of that stuff? If I did, my research would be a lot easier. I'll tell you that.
Starting point is 00:42:09 But I actually, I have a TMS question for you guys in exchange, if that's okay. Yeah, of course. Of course. Sure. This is, it's a really weird question. I don't know if it's safe for work, but I thought about you guys. So I'm in Austria. Vienna is very beautiful and very ornamental.
Starting point is 00:42:23 There are statues everywhere. And so my question to you is, do you have an opinion? Should statues have genitals or not? Oh. Oh. Okay, I got an opinion on that. You mean under their clothes if they have clothes on? Should they still be?
Starting point is 00:42:36 Yeah, either. If they have clothes off, just hanging in the wind or under their clothes, too. I do look because I'm curious. Well, yeah, you got to look. You have to look, right. Oh, of course. So let's look at the most famous example. Statue of David, I think, is the one that jumps out.
Starting point is 00:42:50 Who's a grower? Clearly a grower, not a shower. Yeah, he's got a little bitty, you know, stem on the apple there. That's right. And I... Absolutely, they should have, in my opinion. I think... Can I send you a picture?
Starting point is 00:43:03 Yeah. Although, I don't know if it's appropriate for the stream, but I took a picture. That's fine. We'll take a look at it. Because listen, I'm an anatomist. I understand genitals are real, right? So I send it to them. So you should show them.
Starting point is 00:43:14 But this one, I thought of- You're not a genital denier? Is that what you're saying? Genitals are just something created by the woke liberals. But I'm also like, why did you choose to show this sometimes? You know, like we don't need this. Oh, we can totally show this on stream. I'm showing this.
Starting point is 00:43:27 Okay. So this is cerebus from hell. So that's you. You're looking like that girl with the burning house behind you memes. is what this one of the Blair Witch Project, one of the two. This is right in front of my office, by the way. So I was just standing there, and I was like, you didn't need to put that there. No.
Starting point is 00:43:46 Wow. No kidding. Don't you find, I find that a lot of... Is he grabbing the tail? It's a tail. He's grabbing his tail. Okay, yeah, good, good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:55 And that's his butt hole and his junk. And he's got a loincloth. So I'm like, well, what are your choices that have been made here? Yeah, no, I agree with this. So the thing I've seen over time is that when you have released, or, you know, buildings have these kind of relief sculptures. I think you can take it off the screen. Oh, yeah, I can probably remove it.
Starting point is 00:44:13 They often do this. They'll sneak in a little like, here's a gargoyle with his wiener out, or here's a... It's like an Easter egg kind of thing. Yeah, I don't know what that's about. Maybe it's like, oh, virility or something, because you don't see it a lot with female genitalia. But, yeah, I thought... Someone called me a prude for talking about this on Instagram, and I was like, no, but I want to know what was the artistic choice to put that butthole right there.
Starting point is 00:44:38 You think it's like, you know, no one's ever going to be standing at this angle. They'll have to be really high, and we're never going to have something that can get people high enough to see these. It's really like on a main street where you can really see. Very visible. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:44:51 So the other thing I always think about is there's a process to creating this art, right? So it's not like the guy, you know, didn't look while he was doing it. He had to spend time back there making that bottle. He sculpted that. Yeah. And that's a bunch of work. Someone mentioned that sometimes it's easier to put a loincloth instead of bits hanging in the wind, which I could see that too. Now I'm looking at all the genitals and all the statues.
Starting point is 00:45:15 Well, Vienna's perfect then. You're in the perfect part of the world to be looking at that statue junk. That's great. You could just draw shoes instead of feet. Much easier to draw a shoe than it is to do all those little individual toes. Yeah. That's a great way of looking at it. Wait, what individual toes?
Starting point is 00:45:33 Well, you know, you know. Yeah, right. That wasn't my actual topic. The vibram five-finger shoes, yes. Sure. So let's get into it. Also, by the way, so back in the, the, I remember this in art school. There was a big discussion about, Brian, you probably remember this too.
Starting point is 00:45:49 Yeah. The era when they did, I don't know if it would have been, like maybe the David era. But anyway, cloth, cloth or something. How to render cloth out of stone and make it look like it's draped right and all of that. was like the ultimate in, I'm trying to think about what a modern day version of this would be, just realism. It was like the ultimate in, oh my gosh, I can't believe it. It's like the achievement in accuracy or achievement and like, all right, that guy's really good. He can make cloth. Yeah. Yeah. I've seen one with a fishing net that was made of stone. That was
Starting point is 00:46:22 wild. Yeah. See, that kind of stuff is nuts to me. And then, so then it makes you wonder when David's naked or any of these other statues got their junk out, was the artist not good enough at the silk, you know, the material looking stuff. Maybe. So they did the easy thing. They're better at sculpting junk. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:40 That's right. They're better at making wean. He's not really good at making wean because mine's a lot better than this. Yeah. And no, Amy makes a good point. Sculpter still exist. I don't mean that that's still not hard. What I mean is like, they're all AI now, Amy.
Starting point is 00:46:55 Yeah. What would we be so impressed with now? I don't know what it would be. Well, anyway, so there you go. A fair exchange of questions has happened. Yeah. And now we get to the meat of the product. Now let's learn something.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Yeah, let's learn a little something. Yeah, well, we'll see. I'm here. I thought, what can I talk about that I don't have to think too hard? Because I've been, I've been busy. So anyway, I thought I'd bring to you neuroscience myths that have a little bit of truth in them. And if you can kind of tell me about what you think about the myths and what you think the truth part is. Oh, I love it.
Starting point is 00:47:29 That sounds like a good. Okay. Yeah, it sounds like almost like a little. I already gave you guys one as like a teaser. and I mentioned I wanted to talk about lizard brain so can you tell me what you think about lizard brain all right so I know people say like oh that person's got lizard brain
Starting point is 00:47:46 they intended as an insult really just is a focus thing like you focus on on one specific thing at a time right I thought it was I thought lizard brain meant you were all over the place I have it backwards I think that's like squirrel brain isn't it? Shiny I know honestly I really did think that I thought when someone said, ah, your lizard brain, it was like primal and all over the place.
Starting point is 00:48:10 And is that the idea? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. So, okay, this is an actual theory from like the 60s called triune brain theory. And this is what someone really thought was that basically more basic, quote unquote, animals have simpler brain, so like a lizard. And then as animals get more complex, so imagine, I don't know, a bird, there's another layer that gets put on top of the lizard brain that's more complex. and then as it becomes like a monkey, then another even more complex layer, and in only that layer, you can have like complex dot and emotions.
Starting point is 00:48:41 So they imagine that we have inside our brain a tiny little lizard brain that is only doing like basic primitive behaviors or like really slow, right? So both of you were kind of right about the theory. And so I think some people still believe this because they'll say like, oh, my lizard brain was trying to help me breathe, but my monkey brain said it's not good to breathe when the air. air is bad or, you know? And I actually use this a lot because I think it's silly.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Yeah. So like your basic, you're just primal functions. You're breathing, you know, what something feels like when you touch it, that sort of thing. And then as you get more layers. Oh, that is food. I eat food. I survive. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:19 Right. But that's not true. So just to be clear, that is the thing that we're debunking. I should have probably said that first. So don't think, don't believe what I just said. Don't believe what I just said. So they thought that this was the case, but we don't actually have a little lizard brain. And it's not that lizards can't have complex thoughts because they don't have like the plug-in Lego part that's the monkey part.
Starting point is 00:49:39 Right. We, the little truth in this is that there are basic brain regions like the brain stem that are conserved in different animals, but they're just different proportions. So like lizards do have a cortex, which is the part that we say like those complex thoughts. It's just really, really tiny. All right. So when I see a blizzard, next time I see a lizard, I just saw one in Moab last October. or August, whatever it was. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:05 And when I see one scurring across the rock, what should I, what should be my thought from now on when I see a lizard? Will this improve how I think of the common lizard? Okay, okay. Will this do more for you for lizards? Yeah. Okay, imagine all brains are like four different color Legos, right?
Starting point is 00:50:26 You've got like the basal, like the brainstem part, the middle part, and I said four, let's say three, and the top part. We all have these. It's just some of these. They have 10 red Legos for the top part, and some of them have one red Lego, because they don't use it that much. So the lizards, they have,
Starting point is 00:50:42 most of the bits we have, they just use them in different proportions. So they use the basic part a lot more to just run away and stuff. And we have more of the... We have more of the... Did I explain that right? No, you did. So let me ask you this.
Starting point is 00:50:56 If you could... One day we're going to do this as a human being race, we're going to figure out as a species how to, temporarily connect ourselves to the brain function of some lesser creature or some animal.
Starting point is 00:51:11 I want to know what goes I want to know what that feels like what do I see? How does it? How do I perceive it? So if I'm a lizard am I just constantly
Starting point is 00:51:21 in fight or flight mode? Yeah. Or flight mode really because you don't fight much if you're a lizard unless you're like a big monitor lizard. They're definitely like not a lot of thinking
Starting point is 00:51:29 and mostly instinct. Right. So, so But the science fiction part of me says, oh, and then we're going to get stuck in the animal brain and we're never going to be able to get out. Oh, no, that's actually true. Like, I feel like that's 100% going to happen. Brian will be stuck as a lizard forever. I will be stuck as a lizard forever.
Starting point is 00:51:49 Exactly. I mean, if we've seen the fly, we know what goes on. Exactly. Science always goes wrong. One day you're figuring out how to teleport the next day you're barfing on donuts. I ain't doing that. So I've got more for you. I've got four, but we'll see how many we get to.
Starting point is 00:52:01 So this one is a good one for you guys. So you've heard about the left and the right brain, right? The artist and the math side. Okay. What do you tell me about that then? Okay. Oh, geez. Left brain is supposed to be the creative side of your brain.
Starting point is 00:52:16 Right side is supposed to be the more analytical, but that is definitely. Oh, is it? Isn't it the other way? Right brain or artistic types? It doesn't matter. Yeah. They're both garbage. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:26 Exactly. They're both bunk. Your brain, you know, both sides of the brain do all that kind. of stuff. Yeah. Yeah. And it's true. There's no such thing as like, oh, I'm more left brain, so I'm more artistic. Like, it doesn't really make sense. It's kind of the same concept of this, like, you only use 10% of your brain. If you only use 10% of your brain, you would die. Yeah, you would be a lizard. You need it. We're like breathing and moving and all these things. They're all happening at once. So it's the same with the left right. If you only use your left brain, you would have issues.
Starting point is 00:52:55 It reminds me that movie Limitless. We should watch that for film. Yeah, we've never seen it. We should see it. We should really watch a movie that we've definitely never seen. There's so many movies with that. Yeah. What was the one with the woman's name? Lucy. That was it. Yeah. That one was bad. Limousliss I kind of liked though. No, no. I think Liminless is good. Limous is actually... Limelis is fantastic. The TV show was even better. It was amazing how they actually made a really good TV
Starting point is 00:53:20 adaptation of a movie. But you can see how people would do this. You can see how people do this. The first time they try, I don't know, LSD and they suddenly are having feelings or new thoughts that they never had before. And so their feeling is like, well, clearly there's untapped stuff. When we only tap it when we alter our brain chemistry and then we can get in there further. And I think that's just them misinterpreting what's happening. I mean, that's kind of true. It's just not left and right.
Starting point is 00:53:43 It's just within the brain connections. The truth in this is that some of our brain functions are what we call lateralized. But it would be more like your left arm is connected to the left part of your brain. And the right arm is in the arm section in the right part of the brain. That, yes. Right. But not art and math. Not creativity.
Starting point is 00:54:03 So if I draw, if I'm right, left handed and I draw, that means, oh, my creativity is on that side. So that. That thing where they say you can't pat your head and rub your belly at the same time, I can totally do that. Yeah. Yeah, well, you're a superior human being. You've got more than monkey brain. I just remember as a kid being like, what's wrong with everyone? That's not that hard.
Starting point is 00:54:24 But then there were... You've evolved up to dolphin. I think that one, yes. Yeah. But I don't know. Like it's easy for these things to permeate the culture and everybody, it's just an easy answer, right? Oh, my kid's so left brain. That's why he's so good at math.
Starting point is 00:54:37 And there's your explanation. You're done. You walk away. So it's good. We're debunking for the rest of the people here. This is great. For sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:44 Okay. I've got one. This is pretty easy. Phrenology? You guys know this one? Phrenology? Yeah. Oh, phrenology.
Starting point is 00:54:51 That's, uh, hand reading lines, palm, palm reading? Close. It's that, but with your skull. So, like, they used to, like, touch people's head and be like, oh, you have a bump over here. That means that you're angry all the time. Or you have this front part means that you're going to have a beautiful future. Well, I'm angry because people keep feeling my head. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:16 That's what's making me angry. Keep hitting me on the head and leaving bumps. Exactly. Yeah, that seems like bunk from step one to me. Totally. Yeah. And that one actually is rooted a lot in racism as well. I mean, this is kind of one of those.
Starting point is 00:55:28 You'll see these like heads too in like vintage stores sometimes with the little like hatch drawings on them. Yeah. So this one everyone kind of knows its bunk. But there is a piece of truth in it. And do you want to try and guess what that is? Yes. I'm going to say other than obvious things like, oh, did you have head trauma? I don't remember. Well, I'm going to look at your head and see.
Starting point is 00:55:50 Not that. So not that. But like if you, if you there's probably, is it an age thing where I can, I can. I can tell how old somebody is because the way their plate formed. You cut it open and count the rings? That's not incorrect. That wasn't my answer. But technically, with the skull sutures,
Starting point is 00:56:06 you could tell age. So I'm adding that to the list. Yeah, like Nick's little... Nick's little girl, Ramona, still has a tiny... She's almost fully sealed, but she's got a little tiny gap there still. Oh, wow. Doctor says nothing to worry about. She's two, which is a little late for that. Should have formed by now.
Starting point is 00:56:24 But he says, some kids are a little slow with it. It's not a big deal. Just don't have her jam up hard, you know, stick in there or whatever. Well, okay. Gross. I don't want to think about that. The part of it that's truth is that you can tell some things, not the things they think. From the inside of the brain, you do have bumps or the inside of the skull, rather.
Starting point is 00:56:44 The brain will leave kind of bumps on the inside of the skull. And that's how we reconstruct what we thought maybe cavemen brain capacity was like, or even dinosaur brain capacity. We call this endocast. So you can reconstruct what the brain would look like based on the skull's inner surface. But instead of saying like, oh, you would be angry, you would say, oh, you have a big motor cortex, so you were moving around a lot. Okay, interesting. So I didn't realize that.
Starting point is 00:57:08 The bone will show kind of where our brains developed like an imprint, sort of. That's crazy. I didn't know that. Yeah. And in like goats and sheep, it's really, really bumpy. And I had this theory that it was related to headbutting, but it didn't work out. So I don't know what it's for. Let me see. I've got this skull here.
Starting point is 00:57:27 Take a look at it. Okay. All right. Oh, yes. Very real. Yeah, very real skull. Very accurate. Yeah, no, this seems like somebody maybe made it in a mold, so forget it. Oh, darn. But you can feel those bumps, and what does it tell you?
Starting point is 00:57:41 No bumps, unfortunately. That feels like a close-up of somebody's problem. Yeah, there should be on the moon. There should be holes where those eyes are. Yeah. There's a bag of that on the moon, actually. I'm such a big fan of skulls. This is a total side note.
Starting point is 00:57:55 but if anyone knows where I can get a large, the size of the heads that are on the big Costco, ones of people put in their yards. I don't want the whole skeleton. I just want the head. If anyone knows where I can get just the head. When you just go to your neighbor's house that has one of those big Costco skeletons and help yourself.
Starting point is 00:58:10 That's what I told Kim. I'm like, I can go swipe that. Yeah, convince your neighbor to do a headless horseman skeleton and you keep the head. Yeah, I would love it. I want to get one. Then what I want to do is I want to doodle all over it. So it's just covered in drawings.
Starting point is 00:58:21 Uh-huh. And then keep it forever. That's what I want to do. Excellent. Anyway, sorry. The Dr. Zaz's skull, basically. I have too many projects right now. I shouldn't even have that one, but I kind of want to get one.
Starting point is 00:58:33 So I could go buy the full skeleton and get rid of the rest of it, but that seems wasteful. We'd sell each bone on eBay. Yeah. I don't want, and by the way, so one of mine, I don't want to confuse anybody. I'm not looking for a real skull here, a human skull. We've talked about that. Yeah. Yeah, we talked about how that's problematic, right?
Starting point is 00:58:53 If it's true, yes. I don't want to get on some list. We still don't know if it's true. Yeah, I think it might be a cat's, but I'm not sure. No way. Anyway, sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. Keep going. You've got more of these.
Starting point is 00:59:03 My last one I have, not that there's not more, but you guys know about humoral theory, probably. It has to do the humorous bone, I'm guessing. No, the humors, the four humors. Oh, the four humors. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was very humorous. Well, that's the whole, like, it's the, ah, I got the vapors or whatever. It's all that stuff, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:59:23 Yeah. Okay. Yeah, we actually talked about this on technical tea last month because we did a, like, creepy Halloween episode, and we talked about theories and how you could cure them with leeches. We talked a lot about leeches, and you should go listen to our leach episode. Sounds great. The humoral theory was from, like, the Roman and Greek time, where they thought that the elements, like Earth, water, wind, and fire would regulate human health. So like if you had too much black bile, then you have to like, basically bloodletting was the answer to all of these. And it had to do with like the air was cold and that's why you got blackbile.
Starting point is 01:00:00 I did one of those like BuzzFeed tests and I am flam. That's my humor. Flynn? Yep. It's black bile flam blood and then there. I forget what the yellow one is. Gosh, dang, dude. That is such a nasty thing.
Starting point is 01:00:15 I feel like you don't want to have black bile anyway. No. Yeah. Blackbile, lamb, you don't want that. You don't want that at all. Yeah, I played bass for them. Yeah, you did. That's it.
Starting point is 01:00:27 So can I ask you a humorous question? Yeah. Why did that ever take hold and why did anybody buy into it? Like, why was that a thing? Well, listen. It was based on nothing. We didn't know what was going on. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:39 And when you're sick, you make phlegm. So you think, oh, the body's expressing some fire spirit. Like, we didn't have anything. else to go off. That's so weird, though. You know, that actually brings up what I wanted to say is in science, you have to be wrong a lot of times until you get it right. So you invent these kinds of theories because that's the best you've got, and then you're
Starting point is 01:01:00 wrong and people make fun of you on a podcast later on. But initially, that's the best you had. Yeah, that's true, I guess. I think it gives us something to talk about, too. The guy who didn't invent evolution, so there's evolution from Darwin, but Lamarck, his theory was like snakes came from lizards that just, like, scuttled in the grass for a long time, got really long. And their arms got rubbed off in the grass.
Starting point is 01:01:22 Almost there, but add like a few millennia in between. But he's kind of really killed now. But he was onto something. Wow. Well, let me give it you get. All right. Well, this has been fantastic. Wait, I got to tell you the true part about the.
Starting point is 01:01:36 Oh, sorry. Tell me the true part. Sorry. Then you can kick me out. Yeah, yeah. The true part is that chemicals do regulate human health. It's just not those four. It's other chemicals and smaller ones.
Starting point is 01:01:46 Yeah. And they're not very. Not the ones that they thought. They're not humor. they're freaking bunch of it's a bunch of stuff, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:52 And so now you can go, oh, I got the bad case of the chemicals, you can say. Yeah, exactly. That's it. I love it. Tell us about your show or anything else you'd like to point people to.
Starting point is 01:02:04 Yes, I have things to promo. So it's Halloween. So we have our new Halloween episode, which is about tech, vampires, and science zombies. Highly recommend we did makeup and wore funny hats. But we're also on Halloween
Starting point is 01:02:16 doing a charity live stream for girls who code and color coded and it'll be Halloween morning and we're probably going to stream either goat simulator or pigeon dating simulator or something silly for like as technical team me and when but to raise money for for women in STEM love it so come hang out with us I did a thing once with the girls girls who code is that what it is no yeah girls the code whatever it's they were awesome to work with so cool with a great organization. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:49 So, yeah, go do. Find all the deeds for that on technical tea. dot show because I don't know the exact times because for me, it's the evening, but for you guys, it's the morning. Yeah, I was going to say,
Starting point is 01:02:58 you're over there in Austria town. That's right. I'll get some good chocolate while you're out there. Yeah. Oh, I will, Brian. There's so many Christmas markets and they all have hot chocolate and mold wine and it's going to be a...
Starting point is 01:03:11 Kinder market or whatever they call it. Kinder something. Chris Kindle. Chris Kindle marked. Oh, listen to you, dude. Yes. Love. Do you have any, like, statues of Schwarzenegger or anything cool like that in Austria?
Starting point is 01:03:25 You know, I wonder if they have one of him in his hometown. You know that he's dubbed in German because his German accent is so redneck because he's Austrian that they dub him over. Otherwise, it would take you out of him. Yeah, I've heard that before. I've heard that before that if you were Austrian, you would hear him, or if you were German, you'd hear him talk and you'd go, oh, my gosh. Well, a yokel from. That's hilarious. Wow.
Starting point is 01:03:48 Well, awesome. Have fun. Be safe. And we'll do this again. About a month or something, whatever it is. Stay out of trouble. We'll see you next time. Bye now.
Starting point is 01:03:57 Bye. All righty. That's awesome. That's the end of that. Good. I love debunking the bunk. Yeah. Me too.
Starting point is 01:04:07 Let's debunk the bunk. Let's debunk the bunk. Let's have less bunk. It feels like a disco song. Debunk the bunk. Don't bump the bunk. Baby, bump the bunk. All right.
Starting point is 01:04:17 Right. I would like to register a quick complaint and then we'll get out of here. Okay, please do. I'm ready. Complaint to register is this. You ready for this? I'm ready. My body is willing. I already told you I was annoyed that it didn't play Cracker Island or most of the tracks from Cracker Island at the concert. Right. Yeah. I listened to Cracker Island again this weekend with headphones on, noise canceling, isolated by myself, really taking it in. I'm now prepared to say it's a crime. He didn't play more from that album. He played one track.
Starting point is 01:04:46 It makes no sense to me. It is an amazing record. The whole thing is good. Yeah, I know. What is the deal? All right. Were there some you feel like they could have skipped and replaced with some Cracker Island stuff?
Starting point is 01:05:01 Maybe there's a couple of... Like, I don't... The new album's okay. It's not my favorite. Was there a song where he said, Hey, Kim, I think this might be my opportunity to go to the bathroom. I'll be back and find that. I'll be back.
Starting point is 01:05:13 I mean, no, I guess not. Everything's really well done and performed. or everything, but I'm not, I'm not a huge fan of the new album. It's okay. It's not my favorite, though. Yeah. I love the spark song. The rest, I haven't connected with a lot of the rest of it yet.
Starting point is 01:05:26 Yeah. And it may, maybe, maybe it'll have half the number of listens I usually get them. And maybe that comes later, you know, you just sort of ease into it later. Right. I don't know. That's all possible. But how do you leave all those on the floor? They're just so good, dude.
Starting point is 01:05:38 Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, that is the show. We're done. Frogpants.com slash TMS is the website. You can go there and get all the things you might need. And thanks to everybody for listening, hanging out with us today. Ryan, we should get out of here.
Starting point is 01:05:52 You want to play some music? I will play some music. A music I will play. Let's play a music. Yeah. This is going out to Kev, aka Crazy with a K. My birthday falls on Saturday. This, what, the 1024th, I guess, October 24th.
Starting point is 01:06:09 So requesting a song the following Monday or whenever it fits as a young impressionable tween. The White Lion version of Radar Love is the version I knew for years, and it's a cover. Didn't realize it. As I turn 49 and enter my 50th year, let's go back to the music of my youth. Thanks, slash and Bono. Signed crazy. Nice. Yeah, this is great.
Starting point is 01:06:31 Radar Love, originally by Golden Earing, a Dutch band, Golden Earing. A song that mentions, I love songs that mention other songs. This mentions the song Coming On Strong by Brandy Lee, which is a very different song. Very different style of music than Radar Love by Golden Earing. Anyway, this is White Lion. You can find this on the Best of White Lion. It was also released on another album earlier than that. But 1992, Best of White Lion.
Starting point is 01:06:58 Here is Radar Love. For more great mashups, visit patreon.com slash mashup guild. And now sit back as Scott tries his darned us to pronounce things. Now, I'm not going to be able to say this name. Sorry. which is funny. Oh yeah. Sorry.
Starting point is 01:13:11 Sorry. randrein japhica nasca I think it's pretty close Randrian Jaffe Nazanaka It's a rough name Kane, how do you say that? Canadae Canada Canadae
Starting point is 01:13:24 Canadae? Anyway, you can go to C-N-I-D-A-E Right C-A-N-I-D-A-E Benham Chavarsadae Gavarzaday Be time to check the prescription
Starting point is 01:13:37 on those gunners No, I can't read that word G-H-A-F-F-F-A-R-Z-A-D-E-A- If you break it in half, it's Ghaar, Ghafffar, Gaffar Zaday. Oh, yeah, Gavarzaday. Cavarzaday. Gavarzaday. Gavarzaday.
Starting point is 01:13:51 Gavarzade. Here's Disney Executive Paul Figue, Virgi, or whatever's name is. Avengers Infinity War. Wait, Infinity War? Yeah. Something was sounding wrong with that was I was saying it. Oh, he played Khan, Super Hassea, Pena, Pina, or whatever's name was, Louisa Zian.
Starting point is 01:14:10 I would say that. Yeah, I'd probably like that. Zian. Zian. Louisiana Luisiziani. Now batting. There are inaneable, inalienable, I can't say that word. There are truths.
Starting point is 01:14:22 Analiable, right. Yeah. The doctors told the southwest, southwest metropolis daily, metropolis, not metropolis, gee Scott. Or Superman from, Metropolis. Superman. You're so ignorant. Superman lives in Metropolis. That's just south of Canada here in North America.
Starting point is 01:14:41 Verlaine La Queer. It's really Ligere. Ligere. Oh, it's not Cuis, it's a G. Which is French for the Queer. The Queer. I am Lequeer. French for the queer.
Starting point is 01:14:52 Fans.com This is really letting the chips fall where they may. Well, yeah, everything is letting the chips fall when they make. Let it fall. Fall down. Do do, do, do. All right, we are going to do. You have a favorite song that mentions?
Starting point is 01:15:19 Come on strong. Like a favorite mention. of a song? Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen talks about Roy Orbison sings for the lonely and that's me girl and I want you only. Oh, I like that. Yeah, that's nobody writes, nobody writes storytelling songs like the boss man. Yeah, that's why he's the boss. So freaking good. Plus he's got that Sopranos guy on there. That's right, yes. Man's in. I, he was in the East Street band before the Spranos, but yes. Yeah, it's hard to see him.
Starting point is 01:15:52 I'm not that though now. I know it totally is yeah. Like I remember seeing him in the band like oh there's one guy's always He always got like a you know Bandana on it's fine And then you see that show and you go Well now he's just got Silvio He's just right
Starting point is 01:16:07 Silvio's in the band Sorry that show is too good Too good to take him out of it Such a great show I'm ready for a rewatch Of the Sopranos but I've done a full I've done three full rewatches of that show And every time I got got something else out of it.
Starting point is 01:16:23 I love it. I'm sure. I'd be too busy like, when is the pine barons? When's the pine barons? When's the pine barons? Oh, that's such a great episode. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:31 Gosh, dang it. All right, we're going to do titles. Yeah. We have a few piling up here. Nisa's pieces is great. I-Corps. We're putting that in there. Very good.
Starting point is 01:16:52 but in the corner. Oh, maybe the photo of me with my nieces. Oh, yeah, yeah. That's, you know what? Maybe we'll change it to that's Brian in the corner or something like that. There we go. Yeah. So lonesome I could edit.
Starting point is 01:17:05 Nice. Nice. Giant poops are what you take. Pooping on the moon. Pope Granny is also great. Pope Granny. I don't know why. Don't know his first word was granny.
Starting point is 01:17:17 John Paul the second I thought was a relatively easy one. Well, I always think Francis, because he's, Spanish, right? Or... Spanish, yeah. Yeah, and I always think that one, but... Yeah. Artistic butthole choices with Dr. Nicky.
Starting point is 01:17:31 Yeah, I like that. I believe genitals are real. I like that one. Next door. Always a mistake. So Gwen's in the chat. Gwen, you owe me some mini files. You want me to print some minis for you, don't you? I think.
Starting point is 01:17:48 Why, do turds? Suddenly appear. Let's see. You have no honor bar. Nice. Your airport has no honor bar. God, another stupid episode of Strange New Worlds. One of the, the Q guy that's played by Reese from the, from the New Zealand, Reese Darby.
Starting point is 01:18:14 Oh, Reese Darby? Rees Darby? Yeah. Anyway. And meeting that guy. Yeah. He's like a cue and he makes, he puts the whole. enterprise into a soap opera.
Starting point is 01:18:25 Oh. I mean, I love him, but... This season is... I, Corey, you're not wrong. The season is 70% stupid episodes. It really is. Why did they top load it so much, with so many... I don't know.
Starting point is 01:18:39 Usually, I guess they were saying like, oh, we've got... This is our second and the last season. We know we're going to have the last season and has to wrap up a bunch of stuff. So I guess all that stuff that we've been just kind of putting thumb-tacked on the wall that we'll get to
Starting point is 01:18:50 someday. Let's get to it now. So maybe the final season will be way more serious because they have to, like you said, they have to tie up loose ends and get to wherever pike ends up. And the final episode is only six episodes long, so it's going to be a little short final season. So they're not going to have room for any bullshit like this. So they're getting it all out. Ah, man. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:13 This is about the bags of lunar poop. I know we have a poop on the moon thing, but that's just great. That's pretty good. I also like no power killed, Scott Johnson. plans. I mean, it's a little rough on the song but I like it. Wow. Yeah. I don't want your damn omelet.
Starting point is 01:19:34 Uh, uh, shirtless eggs. Oh, yeah, I like shirtless eggs. Shirtless eggs. That's good. Uh, we need one more. There are two gates one. There you go. Perfect. That's really good. Uh, too funny.
Starting point is 01:19:55 I like nieces' pieces. Yeah. Yeah, nieces piece is a good one. Plus, I'll... They'll enjoy that. My niece's listen to this episode. And then Peyton and Jilly will yell at me because I screwed up their names again. And they're like, I swear to God, two of my favorite people in the world.
Starting point is 01:20:11 And they'll never hear this part because they won't hear the end of the show. No. But I swear, Peyton and Jilly are two of my favorite people ever. And got there. So here's what I love about Jilly. She is blunt. She will say, like, if somebody's being a chode, she will call it out immediately. Or, you know, she's also really quick-witted.
Starting point is 01:20:32 So she just responds really quick. If somebody's saying something dumb, she'd be like, no, it's this. And she just leaves. I like matter of fact, people. She's about to turn 18. She's going to turn 18 two days before the election. And so she's excited that she's going to get to vote. Good.
Starting point is 01:20:50 You can use it all we can get right now. Absolutely. She can vote for James Tellerico, Too Loco for Texas. Too Loco. That's the best they got. Is that really? That's your way of, uh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:05 Um, okay. Whoops. Let's kill that. All right. Is it ready? It is. It's ready. We're going to read it.
Starting point is 01:21:12 Okay. Here we go. In 3,21. Did you know the world's largest mall is in Iran? It has a floor area of roughly 21 million square feet. I wonder what the food court is like. Anyway, support TMS today at patreon.com slash TMS. Coming up on the morning stream, Hambone Chamberlain.
Starting point is 01:21:32 So lonesome I could edit. That's Brian in the corner. Hope Granny. Giant poops are what you take. Wait, song. Giant poops are what you take. I don't know this song. I'm going to give this to you.
Starting point is 01:21:47 Okay. Swap it around. I don't know what that is. No, it's not ringing a bell. Who is that? The police. The police walking on the moon. Oh, well, let's do it. All right. Yeah, all right. Cool. You did Pope Granny, right? I did Pope Granny, so, yep. I believe genitals are real.
Starting point is 01:22:04 Giant poops are what you take, pooping on the moon. Next door, always a mistake. You have no honor bar. Why do turds suddenly appear. This is about the bags of lunar poop. No power killed Scott Johnson's. Oh. No power kills Scott Johnson's plans. I don't want your damn omelet. Um, shirtless eggs.
Starting point is 01:22:30 There are two gates one. Artistic butthole choices with Dr. Nicky and more on this episode of the morning stream. We really made her segment sound gross. Oh, well. It's so many Star Trek references too today. Holy cow. Yeah, lots. You guys are into it. I watched an episode yesterday, that episode where it was,
Starting point is 01:22:52 obviously a it was an assault allegory but the guy was breaking into Deanna Troyes brain. Oh, okay. And then... Was it the dude? Was it the sign filled? No, that's a different one. Different, but it's a similar episode.
Starting point is 01:23:08 You're not wrong about it. Yeah. Or he also does some kind of bullshit with his, to get under her head. But Worf comes in the room to stop this because he eventually wants to like fully assault her and it's kind of awful actually for Star Trek. It is horrible. Yeah. And Worf bus in dude and just kicks this guy's ass like it's amazing excellent good yeah it's really it was great
Starting point is 01:23:29 I was a proud of war all right he has had a security you may as well be there I suppose yeah it's what he should be doing yep all right we're gonna do uh we're gonna do a photo here okay I'll do a make mine marvel kind of uh comic bookie looking reading day oh I look at the sneaker soundtrack for some reason. All right, here we go. Nice. Nice. None. Van Narn. What you did is nice. All right. What are you doing for lunch? Anything good? Got to do something because we don't have food in the house. Didn't have a go shopping over the weekend. So it is going to be maybe Cuedova. Maybe I'll go get a chicken bowl or something. I don't know. Something right now, dude. Yeah. If I didn't mention, oh, I didn't mention earlier.
Starting point is 01:24:28 The Monday show will be at one. Carter and I are going to leave after the Monday show and go see. Clayface. Wildwood. Oh. Oh, Wildwood. Cool. The animated thing.
Starting point is 01:24:38 I do want to see Clayface. I think we're going to see Clayface this Thursday because I don't think there's anything coming out this Thursday that we are wanting to see. So good little pre-Hlloween horror dealio with Clayface. Reviews seem solid. Yeah. Let's see where it's at today. I mean, Wildwood. You guys are going to love that, I hear.
Starting point is 01:25:01 Oh, I hear it's just unbelievably rad. It's 100% of rotten tomatoes still. It won't even go lower than 100. That's amazing. Clayface, 75, but 94 audience. That's pretty good. Cool. Cool.
Starting point is 01:25:15 That new Allie G's getting tanked, 48. Really? I heard his interview on Howard Stern. It was great. Sasha Baron-Cone is really, really funny. But apparently this thing is hard to watch in play. Yeah. I like the Borat movies. Yeah. Yeah. I like that second one in particular.
Starting point is 01:25:33 I never got into L.A.G. Like I, you know, Borat for some reason worked really well. But, uh, yeah. Makes me want to watch it now. In fact, just, just hearing Borat. I want to watch it. Um, all right. Well, enjoy your kudoba. Thank you. I might do the same. Some similar. You know what? I don't have one near me. So I'll do the similar. The similar. Do the similar. Taco Bell. No. Oh. All right. All right. That's the end of that, folks. We're done. That's the show.
