All right, welcome back to episode 085 of the OK podcast.
Powered by the Stranko.
I am your host, Grant Farogey.
Today's date is 24 November in the year of our Lord 2025.
Price of Bitcoin is roughly $87,000.
And some people might say, well, Grant, at one point, Bitcoin had tripled since we started
the podcast and I'd say
by the dip brother by the dip we're still
over double we're seeing a little turbulence
right now you know government shutdown affects
everyone you think it just affects
military folks
well you don't understand how the
government works okay and let me tell you
the people running it also don't understand
how it works but it affects
everything so we're sitting a little lower
than we're used to sitting but don't you worry
we'll be just fine
we're recording we we are
not in the West. We are no longer in the West. We are state-side and we are recording from the home
of woke up this morning, got yourself a gun, home of Tony Soprano, the world's greatest
mobster, home of Chrissy, Polly, Sal, pork roll versus Taylor Ham. A state with so much
identity that people don't know if they should identify as New Yorkers or Philadelphia,
which isn't even a state.
And if we got into the subject of Philly,
a city that has such little going for it,
they identify with fictional characters from movies.
But remember,
Tony Sprano was real when we get back.
Yeah, we're in New Jersey or I'm in New Jersey.
And that's what really matters,
because that means it grants buddies getting home soon.
And then joining us in studio,
I think it's the first time we recorded from New Jersey.
If the audio sucks, we're sorry, we're not that sorry.
you should just be happy that this podcast is here on the heels of a government shutdown.
Because like any other major crisis, we blame the crisis, and then we blame the crisis for even longer.
Thanks, Obama.
That's just how it works.
I don't make the rules.
I just live them.
I just live them.
But I'm coming to you from what doesn't exist, which is central Jersey.
There's only a north and the south of Jersey for our Jersey listeners.
Yeah, Central Jersey is not real.
I'm behind the lion, the witch, and through the wardrobe.
And also in studio joining us, Major Jeff Bouget from the greater Salt Lake City area.
Yeah, great guy, big hockey club fan.
Are you in drilling status?
Not currently, but...
Currently not in a drilling status, which is always good.
And they come to us tonight from Laredo.
Texas.
Oh, down by the border again.
Okay.
Yeah.
Border guy.
You're just big.
The southern border is secure, so we're sending in our top.
The current administration's got the Marine Corps border focus.
So borders on the brain.
Laredo, Texas.
The best, no, worst logistician,
best artillery officer we've ever known.
Robert Trey Gottlitch, the third.
We're really sorry about those.
of those yeah the name or the best and the worst best in the worst probably just somewhere in the
middle yeah oh but okay well i thought you meant your name robert tray gauch the third your
name's probably in the middle that's why we call you trest no that's you got that part you nailed it
yeah yeah oh okay yeah uh sorry we missed last week we try not to do that but we got freedom and
liberty to protect we support the troops speaking of supporting the troops got the turkey pole this no
I don't know.
So here's what's going to happen.
We're going to play all the important college football games
where everyone can redeem their season by beating their rival.
That's right.
Then we have the following Saturday.
Is that one Army Navy is?
We'll get to that.
But long story short, we got the turkey full Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Got over 100 online people signed up.
Thanks for your sport.
I think we're somewhere around 45 folks in person.
That's good.
Newport Beach people still signing up so that'll be a fun event uh if you're in southern
california then you're a listener ray toey and i still haven't seen you buy your thing
buy the thing come support the simplified america's fund because we support the troops turkey
poll is coming up don't miss it also i got to say this podcast is powered by the shrink
It is Tuesday, Monday, in the year of our Lord, 24 November, no longer the West.
Sorry, time changes are difficult.
But that means that it's almost Thanksgiving, which means the rapture is going to happen,
which means between the rapture and Thanksgiving is Black Friday.
And so you wouldn't want to miss that cat on YouTube if you're not watching,
or you wouldn't want to miss the Stranko's Black Friday sale, only still a year.
Get on there, get you some cast.
started all that kind of stuff but uh anyway long preamble that's what happens when you let me go
two weeks without giving an announcement i'm like that i'm like the guy before the benediction in
church it's like in a couple announcements you're like brother the buffet's getting cold and he just
keeps going i'm done i promise god bless uh i'll kick it over to the free uh good afternoon
good evening good morning gentlemen wherever wherever you are uh we're going to be
in this brief here.
We'll just go
in shop order here. All right.
Kick it over to the one. You got anything for
us? Admin types.
That's you,
Trey.
Sir, as far as the one goes,
I just checked in
since the government shutdown's over
now. I believe
we should have
some more people checking in. I don't
know what I'm doing, to be honest with you.
Hey, real quick, real quick, real
Trash 5 here.
Gunner and Sergeant,
you were not affected by the government shutdown.
You were supposed to check in anyway.
You were already in the area
and we never stopped paying you.
You were actually supposed to check in.
What do you mean because of the government shutdown?
That's Richard.
I thought the government shutdown meant that we just didn't have to work.
No, no.
Well, I'm sure, if I may.
I was talking to the...
Is this with all the respect?
Is this with all due respect?
Sir, with the most, the most respect I can muster.
All of it is due.
I was talking to the family planner, and they said that I didn't have to come.
And so...
Career planner, I feel like your family planner adjacent.
Did the family planner tell him this?
Because what was canceled on the government shutdown was the 10 was, was the
10 days of P-TAD, what was not, you were in the area.
The government was not shut down for you.
Bingo, I'm a career pointer, yeah.
Do you remember when you got your Google of an anchor?
Vaguely, yes.
Oh, vaguely.
Okay, a, Sarm Major, I want you to take care of this in a super lot of Chevron ways,
if you know what I mean, wink, wink.
Oh, yes, sir, yes, sir.
Yes, sir, I know.
Guddy, stop breathing.
Be in my office after his meet.
Yes, sir, major.
Okay, good.
That's solved.
89.99.
That's solving, prop.
Wow.
Okay, very well.
Hopefully next briefer goes better than that one.
Intel, what do you got?
God, I feel like that might have happened or something like that.
Trades of realism.
A lot of real.
A lot of realism coming through these briefs lately.
Oh, man.
I just, I got dressed down in our fake brief, man.
Yeah. Good news for you, Trey.
Two shops also you.
Sir, good news.
The laminators should be fixed by Q2 of 2026.
Are we talking the physical year or the fiscal year?
Physical.
Physical.
Okay.
Not to be confused.
The calendar.
Physically this year.
Okay.
Okay.
So physically this year, not fiscally.
Fiscally Q3, physically Q2.
Due to the government shutdown, are the fiscal and physical years aligned differently than they usually are?
Because I feel like we missed Q1, fiscally and physically, personally.
I believe they just rolled over, kind of like cell phone minutes.
Okay.
oh okay good oh okay good to go so they'll get us up they'll get us in the back end always
always yeah get you on the back in they always get you always will 72 on the back end
always will other than that sir that's that's all i have for the brief that's all i have for the room
for the group i think you meant yes sir i'm just lieutenant i don't know what to say yeah
hey hey devil devil boo we say for the group okay
Oh, copy, sir.
Which applies that you have other things to say elsewhere.
We know you don't, but we'd like to think that you did.
Yes, sir.
Can I get with you offline, sir?
Yeah, as long as you keep the sidebars to a minute.
All right, Opsle take it here.
All right.
We got our trash in the Wes poundage brief.
we gave that to the commanding Trash General.
He was very pleased with the tonnage of trash that we took care of inside of the Wes.
Got the dumpsters all weighed.
I think the four will touch more on our actual tonnage that was achieved.
But mission success all around.
But hey, we're not, the mission's not over.
All right, Trash Battalion.
We got to remember now we are we are conis.
But trash is still our number one priority.
Okay.
There's trash around every corner and every.
every barracks room, every parking lot, every, every range that we occupy.
That is, remember, those are the battalion commander's ranges.
That is not your range.
Not your range.
That's the battalion commanders range.
And you better take care of it.
And you better pick up that daggone trash.
So the fight continues.
I just want everyone to stay focused on that.
Hey, real quick, three, thanks for what to do trash six here.
I just want to say, yeah.
I just want to say real quick, you know, a lot of people complain about trash
mission across the Marine Corps and, you know, people check into this unit.
They don't like the trash focus and I say, welcome to trash unit.
Okay.
This is a trash unit.
No, you don't take leave.
You get 30 days to leave a year, okay?
And they're divided in the lead blocks.
But you know, you got people out there that work for, I don't know, Home Depot and other
companies and they don't get 30 days.
leave. You get 30 days leave, but only over leaf blocks during times when normal people get
time off just for free. But you get 30 days leave, so that's a pretty good gig. But what I would say
is a lot of times people start smelling the bark. One of the things not being in a trash unit
is we smell trash 24-7-365. And that's just what we do. That's why we're a Victor trash unit,
okay? We're a Victor trash unit. One mission ends, and we know there's more trash to be picked up
Trash, exactly.
Wow.
Thank you, sir.
Thank you for refocusing us.
Okay, S4.
Let's kick it over to our Logo types.
That's you, Tray.
Oh, is that me again?
Oh, I'm all the shots.
Sir, to stick with the plan as far as the trash,
the commander's guidance that we had on that
and just kind of maintain a spree day core.
with the 250 years
that the Marine Corps has been killing
and picking up trash
and fighting and winning
and fighting
fighting and throwing away trash
born in a dumpster
that's what I've always said
born in dumpster we recycle
we reduce reuse recycle
that's what we do here at the Marine Corps
sir
and with that commander's guidance
I wanted every Marine
before they were secured yesterday
to pick up 250 pieces of trash each
Oh, motivation.
I believe we fell short.
My shop completed that.
I don't know if...
Hey, good job, four shop.
Good job, poor shop.
Always worried about yourself.
Thanks for showing that all.
Well, sir, yes.
Yes, sir.
I appreciate that.
But I believe we got pretty close, but we didn't quite hit the mark.
So in order, we're going to double that today before we secure this evening.
I know it's 2,200, your time, sir.
So we're going to not secure the Marines until we pick up five.
Zulu, you're talking Zulu.
Always, always talking to us.
That's the only time I keep.
It's the only time I keep.
I'm not really aware of times.
Yeah.
Yeah, okay, good.
That's all I have, sir.
We're just going to, we will pick up 500 pieces each Marine.
Hey, good brief, good brief.
I appreciate that.
Keep the mission focus, mission-centric.
Yeah, carry out.
Three, carry on.
All right.
Hey, three, I got a call with the CG in about five minutes.
Five minutes, very well, sir.
We will rapid fire this one then.
Go ahead.
We'll go cyclic on this one.
We'll go cyclic at the cyclic rate with our brief here.
All right.
Medical, I think you got your shots done.
That's great.
Dental rodeo playing for tomorrow.
just going down the schedule.
Hey, sir, it's a chaplain.
I just want to say,
let's just say
there's been an uptick
in appointments this week
and I'm not going to give any
names or inclinations
but maybe companies
that start with letters
that aren't vowels
have had an uptick
in people that work
in communication
and I don't want to
release any information
but I've been busy
also RP has a basketball tournament
tomorrow
so he won't be in the office
so if you have any high risk cases
don't send them to me
because I don't take the appointment
without the RP present
also to the commanders
and staff and Sart Major.
Good morning, by the way.
But also, if you could have your Marine shower
before coming to my office,
we've been dealing with a stench in the office.
But besides that, sir, God is good all the time
and all the time, God is good.
Good, good, good brief chaps.
Thank you.
And then for those non-military listeners real quick,
That is 100% how a chaplain would brief
in a commandant staff.
No, no way.
No, I just made that up.
100%.
That is, I mean, theoretically.
Theoretically, that's how they would.
Hey, guys, real quick.
Sorry to interrupt you guys,
but this is PJ, aka producer Jordi,
aka not a JTAC,
say a load of these deer right here.
Coming to you for a quick update
due to the government shutdown
and the way that the audio budget
it works and how it's allocated to different pots of money.
It's very complicated.
The audio for the rest of this episode has been compromised pretty heavily.
So for those of you who love the staff brief portion of the podcast, well, today's your
lucky day because that is all you're going to get.
So thanks for listening.
Sign up for the turkey pool.
Happy Thanksgiving.
And we will see you next time.
