Starting point is 00:00:01 Coming up. Proxima Morgia answer the internet. Bam, bam, bam. Because when someone sees you, you start to talking to someone, then another one, then another one. You sound like DJ Khalid. And another one. He went, Jesus, me knee. And I said, don't say that word.
Starting point is 00:00:18 And he said, what, knee? You did it for me once for Mother's Day. There you go. But that was for a job. Do you remember when we first started seeing each other? And your dad called to say he'd googled me. Yeah. What is Gemmer Akinson famous for?
Starting point is 00:00:35 Your dad will know. Give the ratings out. Oh, God. I'm only a glam model at home for gawks. When? Hiya, guys. Just two quick things before we get into today's episode of Lost in Translation. The first one, please, please, can you take a moment to subscribe to the show?

I want to ask for a coffee machine, maybe here, you know. I think here a nice coffee machine will be nice, you know, making the coffee. Nice. I'm not specifically which brand, yeah? And who needs to buy it? But just here.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Just a coffee machine. This is a judgment-free zone. We listen and don't judge. We speak to you guys. We get so many messages from you all. We solve dilemmas. Starting point is 00:03:32 up until this day I don't know the number? You still don't know the number. I bet people think I never shut up but it's because he always asked me to do the numbers bit because you don't know it. You speak slower, clearly, better accent, you are pretty, so then... I've not got a better accent.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Your accent's lovely. It's Spanish. No, but just, I don't remember. Well, something you do remember is without further ado. Vamos! How you been? I've been good. We've not seen each other really a lot, have we?
Starting point is 00:04:06 We said on this week. the last episode, Gorka was going to Italia for a wedding, for Adwino's wedding. Adwino got married. Bloody hot there. It looked lovely though. It was bloody hard. There's such, uh, do you call them?
Starting point is 00:04:19 Are they both grooms then? I guess so, no. Yeah, one of them was a bride, was it? It was so lovely because normally you go to like the groom has the mom, no? Yeah. And the bride of dad. They were both walking with their moms.
Starting point is 00:04:31 It was so lovely. They looked so beautiful, yeah. They did. They looked handsome. And I saw a video on social. they got out of her like an old An old car Yeah
Starting point is 00:04:39 Yeah Fia Chingichenza Yeah But he had Chingichenda yeah Did he not? She's so tall Yeah And then
Starting point is 00:04:45 Adwino Messaged me Saying how knackered he was Because he said he had 12 celebrations In like five days Well for the last two week He was just seen
Starting point is 00:04:53 Family Friends Stagdo The pre-weding The actual wedding The post-wedding And it's just It's that Seeing all of that
Starting point is 00:05:00 As beautiful as it was Did it make you think When it comes to hours Just keep it simple because it was a lot of knackering, hearty and exhausting. I just don't get married. Just don't get married because of the stress. Just the stress, you know, no.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Do you know what? When I was watching, when I was sat in the, on the chair, yeah? And they were walking and they were just reading and everything. It made me, I thought, actually, I do want to get married. Oh, thanks. No. After nine years. No, no, you know what you mean?
Starting point is 00:05:29 Like, you know how we got? Like, we're happy like this blah. It's nice. And then after the wedding, he was like, I didn't enjoy it at all. but I'm happy that everybody were else and Jerry had the best time. He was like, it was so stressful. And again, don't get me wrong. I guess it's because, like, it was one of our friends.
Starting point is 00:05:47 She's married to an Italian guy also, yeah? And she said, this has been the longest Italian weather I ever been, and I had an Italian wedding. So you mind how long it was. It's just because the amount of family and friends they had, it was 140 people there. No, I don't know, 140 people to invite. So that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:06:05 And he did, for example, if he would have invited every single person off strictly, imagine how big would have been that, which it was only like a small amount of people. People that they were very close to him or that he knew before strictly or things like that. But like at the end, yeah, when the wedding finished at like 1.32 a.m., he was standing there saying goodbye to everybody, yeah, giving the gift, you know, the bag that you give for gift. Yeah. But it's not like, thank you very much for coming. It's not like 20 minutes per person.
Starting point is 00:06:38 You have to, you're essentially hosting the day. It's your wedding, but you are hosting everybody else. And all my friends who've got married, I've not spoke to one bride or groom post it, who said they had them, it was a relaxing day. They said it was a good day, but it wasn't relaxing at all for them. That's what he said. But he was saying goodbye to everybody when they were living.
Starting point is 00:06:57 It was like, goodbye things for coming in a day. Goodbye, a hug, two kisses. How about you? Did you enjoy this? It was like a full conversation. He stay two and a half hours after the wedding finish, saying goodbye to everybody. Imagine that. That's like, I would shoot my head.
Starting point is 00:07:14 No. But that's why when we do ours, it need to be smaller. Still lovely, but not under 40 people. But also, I think it's like we're talking, for example, you know, in Spain, when we do the wedding, you get married, right? And you have after the, between the wedding and the dinner, you have, like, a ceremony, like a cocktail reception or, like, you know, me like a thing like that to people get entertained until the wife and the husband and the groom and the bride or the grooms do all their pictures and things like that yeah and then you go to the dinner what happened here was the wedding happened and then they have the cogia but they will still there in Spain as soon as
Starting point is 00:07:54 the wedding finished they took you out of the event so no one sees you because when someone sees you you start to talking to someone then another one then another one then another one So in Spain, I remember one, Horges' wedding. You sound like DJ Khalid and another one. In Horges' wedding, as soon as the wedding ceremony happened, we all went to the reception area, and they disappeared for an hour and a half to do all the pictures, and they were there alone,
Starting point is 00:08:20 then with the mom and dad, the close families, you know, or the bridesmaids and how you call it, the best men. So for an hour, they disappear doing their pictures. And you're just chilling. And you're just chilling. So then when they come back, it's the dinner. What happened here was like for an hour They were chilling with everybody
Starting point is 00:08:37 Then they went for the pictures Then they came back Then a lot of people During the dinner After the dinner I wanted to have pictures with them So they were doing the pictures again That's what I mean
Starting point is 00:08:47 The fact of that It takes forever yeah Yeah So body was beautiful And nice because it was this olive trees And everything But the worst it was the heat 45 degrees
Starting point is 00:08:56 At like 7pm I was like Sweating everywhere You message me Can I say Can I tell the viewers What he said to me About the
Starting point is 00:09:03 Yeah He messaged me and said, Advino, he had the best wedding ever. He said his only downfall was, there was no Brazilian men. There was no Brazilian men present. That was his only downfall of his own wedding, which really, really made me laugh.
Starting point is 00:09:21 And then he said, so I'm hoping when you and Gorka get married, there'll be some Brazilian men there. I said, don't worry, we'll sort it. Yeah, I make sure the ban is Brazilian. Yeah. But no, yeah, and you were doing that. And Tiago, while you were in Italy,
Starting point is 00:09:35 Tiago had his very first ever swimming lesson. And it was brilliant. We said last week, didn't we? He's not as confident as me or in water. And at the start, he wouldn't get in the pool. There was three, and he was sat on the side, and he wouldn't come in. I thought, oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:09:53 And then I had to say to him, like, I promise, I won't let you go, I promise. You just keep holding on me, you're fine. And then at one point, he had to put his head back on my shoulder. So he was facing upwards, head on my shoulder, and my hand had to be under his bump. and he leaned back and everyone was laughing
Starting point is 00:10:06 because he leaned back and he went oh mum keep an eye on me and that's because he said my mum say keep an eye on him if you go in there he said you know we say it to Mia don't we if I'm like the other day I was putting the washing on the line and I said Mia I'm going out
Starting point is 00:10:20 keep an eye on your bro for me what was the other one that he said the other day when he bangs his knee oh Jesus my knee he went Jesus my knee banged his knee on the car and that's what he said Jesus my knee but that's my mum that I never said
Starting point is 00:10:32 I know it's just you can tell this spent a lot of time with your mom. I know. Both of them, because me I used to be the same. They had this like, you know, like, no,
Starting point is 00:10:39 like old school, like phrases, yeah. But when he said that, I said to him, I said, don't say that word. And he said, what, knee?
Starting point is 00:10:47 And I went, no. I said the other one. And then I thought, just don't highlight it because he'll start asking why. What if he says it in nursery. Yeah. I bet he did.
Starting point is 00:10:56 I bet he did. So, yeah, we've had a busy few. And then you went to bad bunny. Yeah. You saw that. He didn't wear his jumper. You know how hot he was?
Starting point is 00:11:04 I bought him a bad bunny jumper and he didn't wear it. It's so hot in there. But you had a box, you had an aircon. No, because the concert is outside. Yeah, but you could have took it off. No, I was roasting. I'm going to wear it for one episode of this pod, just so I have us get worn. I got the t-shirt from the Bad Bunny concert.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Oh, did you? And I have the camera. So you can wear the t-shirt or wear the hoodie. That was probably the best concert that I've been in my life. And even if you don't speak English, Spanish, a lot of people saying, like, Alice didn't know who even bad money was until the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Right. And he, even Simon was like, with Simon, he doesn't work in the industry or in the, anything like that, yeah? Yeah. And he's not even speak Spanish. He knows about money from a long time because of Karen, yeah?
Starting point is 00:11:48 Yeah. But it was just like, not even the music, you didn't even watch him. If you just would have stared at the screen, it was just like a watch a video clip. Did you do his thrusting? He was, he did it, yeah. And he was facing us when he was doing it.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Because he doesn't hear the, you know, like the satellite. Yeah. And he was on our area, like where we were. Nice. But it's just like the whole camera, like the musicians are so good. The way they're everything, you know, like when you go to concerts and they had a massive screens. So they have cameras to show close-ups to the fans, yeah? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Here, the way the camera was moving, the steady cams were moving around, like filming the hands of the pianist, going around. There was no moment that you think, why they're filming this? It was like a documentary. It was so good. And he sold it out, didn't he? Is he doing how many nights he's doing? He did two concerts, both of them sold out. Right, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:39 He was the highest Latin artist to ever sold out a concert in the UK. So he's beat Enrique. Yeah. He has sold less tickets than on the tour, yeah? Then Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga is on first, he's on second. But Lady Gaga did 51 shows.
Starting point is 00:12:59 he only done 25 and he had he had made more revenue than Lady Gaga on the concerts yeah and it's his first tour is the number one artist on the world right now
Starting point is 00:13:10 well there you go if you're a fan of Bad Bunny all them facts for you the last time that he was in the UK was 2019 2018 and he was at like the O2 hall in
Starting point is 00:13:23 how is he called in Kentish Town not the smaller one that was his first concert in the UK was in Kentish Town probably like How many people?
Starting point is 00:13:30 100 people, 500 people, maybe 1,000 people in the concert, and now he was 60,000 people. Southern out to Tompott's Buzz. Good for him. I like a good story like that, though. And before that,
Starting point is 00:13:41 he was working in a supermarket. He was on the Tid on the supermarket and started a uni because he's from Puerto Rico, but he's not from like, you know, like most of the reggae ton people come from like, you know, like gangs and things like that. He had a good family, not like money family, but like with values and stuff.
Starting point is 00:13:58 So he was working in the supermarket, and studying the uni. And he released, for the first year of his career, he released one song every week for a year and a half. Oh, wow. He said he was in a dude and he did it. And then he just won't. And now look at him.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Yeah. So it's a success story for little Benito. Benito. I like the name Benito. Yeah. Little Benny. So, yeah. Benny Marquez.
Starting point is 00:14:22 It was very good. There's no Benny Marquez. I held a baby yesterday and instantly, Gorka went, no. Instantly, we took Tiago for his hair coat. I mean, if you want to call Jimenez, I'll try. He was brilliant at his haircut yesterday. He wanted Tiago.
Starting point is 00:14:33 I don't know what's happened, but he was absolutely no fear. Chating to Ross, the barber, completely different from last time. But Ross's little girl, Hatti, was there with us, and she's only nine months. And Ross just handed her over to me, didn't he? And I got her and I went, oh. And you just went, no. No. Instantly shut it down.
Starting point is 00:14:51 Nope, absolutely not. No, no, no, no, no, no. But Tiago was a boss boy. He was sad. In the chair on Gemma's legs, yeah, he was having his haircut. I was giving him chocolate cookie and a glass of milk. He was just leaning over chewing, sipping his milk. More.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Yeah. So good. And then he said to Ross, I want it spiky. Spike it. He said, spike it up. If I was me, I would love to do that haircut. Imagine sat in there. You're giving him coffee and a cookie.
Starting point is 00:15:20 I know. He was living his best life. That's heaven. So we haven't really seen each other a lot. So is anything, what's the knowledge of you? I've got one thing that's annoyed me about you. What? The luggage.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Yeah. Nice. That's the only thing, though. What, have you, does anything annoy you about me? We've not seen each other really since. No. How many days was it? Six days?
Starting point is 00:15:40 Five days. Five days. Five. So we haven't been in each other's company to actually annoy each other. So the dilemmas, really, this week had a non-existent from us, apart from his suitcases still behind the front door. The one there I live when I left the other day, no? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:57 You know what is the thing is that like, for example, today I dress up. I said them to dress up from upstairs. I opened the luggage and my clothes were there so I took the luggage. I empty the luggage as I'm dressing up. I know, but then I think... When it's empty, you'll take it upstairs.
Starting point is 00:16:10 But the problem is the idea. I need to... Empty, I'm going away again. I have to feel it again. I know. Sorry. That's the only thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Like, I open the front door and it's just... And I go... And sometimes I'll take a picture and send it to Laura, my best mate. and she'll reply back. And then me and Laura have been laughing that, because I think every guy at the minute, well, most men I know anyway are obsessed with the World Cup.
Starting point is 00:16:36 And she said to me the other day, she's really pissed me off. She said, the first thing Will said to me is, oh, Germany are out, that's a shock. And she said, I thought, I'm not asked, I don't care. And then you said to me, we woke up in the morning, I went, morning, you went, as if Germany are out. And I thought, you're not German.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Neither am I. why are you so bothered? And I messaged her back and said Gorka said the exact same thing to me like chuffed that Germany are out. Yeah, because it means one less thing that we have to play against. I know, but I just, you both said it to it.
Starting point is 00:17:07 That's what you do. When the good teams are out, you're like, yes, because it means you have less problems. Yeah, but the first thing in the morning, morning, Germany are out, that's a shock. It was like... Not to me, I'm not bothered. But yeah, no dilemma.
Starting point is 00:17:22 So no personal debates for us this week, because we've not seen each other, but our producers do throw in a question of their own when it comes to debate. So the question this week for us, Gorks, is if you were and I were to design a house for each other, what three features would need to be in it? Oof.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Yours and the one, look, have... I know what yours would be. My one. I know you'd need a gym. 100% you'd want a gym. So you'd want a gym. So yours have a gym. Need to have a big, big...
Starting point is 00:17:54 slow sink in the garage. Now, we have a dog wash. But if you could, you have like a nice bath. They has like a little thing like that in the garage with holding cold water. So then when you're walking with the dogs, you can put them in the garage and water them. So basically a groom station in the garage for the dogs. Then what else you need to have? What do I keep saying I want in our house?
Starting point is 00:18:19 Horses? No. Animals? Well, that would be lovely. A farm? No. I keep saying to you, I want a room Oh, windows.
Starting point is 00:18:30 Where I can just put, like, on the floor. Oh, the crystals. Just cushions. A big, like, drait, my butter, my incense, my big gong in there, just a tranquil room. Like a, like a namest meditation room, yeah? Yeah, whereby, if ever I'm stressed out, if ever you're getting on my sits or the kids are,
Starting point is 00:18:50 I can just go in that room, shut the door. Basically, you spend the heart, You're going to spend there every day. I can have my sound baths in there. Just a room. That's just... Nice. Zend.
Starting point is 00:18:59 You would definitely want a gym. Sure that you. I think you would want maybe like a recovery room where he'd have a room where he'd have a cold plunge in there. He'd have a massage bed. He'd have his red light panels up. You'd have his TV on and he's got blue light blockers. He could have his legs in like your...
Starting point is 00:19:17 Really? Yeah, I think you could have a recovery room you would. You actually, we know what I want to. I want to have a house. AC air conditioning So I can regularly the temperature
Starting point is 00:19:26 so I can sleep whenever I want Shatters Like Spanish Shatters So it's blackout And you wouldn't Want carpets anywhere No so that's the only thing I want
Starting point is 00:19:33 Yeah That's the only thing I want In a big wardrobe Recovery room of gym In a crystal room No no no I don't want a gym Or anything like that
Starting point is 00:19:39 I can go in the gym somewhere else Okay so you just want I want I want to have AC Shatters And if it's possible A big walking wardrobe
Starting point is 00:19:47 Of the size of our bedroom We've got air conditioning in the gym Yes During the heat wave I used to go and just put it on and sit with Benji in it. Because Benji was so hot and she used to sit in the gym with it. I remember when we were building, the house was almost building, yeah?
Starting point is 00:20:00 And we could have add things and they were putting the under floor here. It's like, ooh, we should put now the AC system because it's open ceilings. It doesn't cost a lot of money to do that because he's building it. They just need to put the pipes and everything. But can you imagine if the, whoever the person was building it, how it would have turned out? Even if you didn't turn it on and off, you have it there. And it's not worth it in the UK. It's actually worth it because our house itself faces.
Starting point is 00:20:23 and glass, it's so much heat. Yeah, but the person who built our house, it's fine. If they had to put air on it, it would have blown up within a week. It's fine, but we'll have AC. You know how much difference you will make? I know. Even if it's for two days, it's worth it.
Starting point is 00:20:37 We don't get a lot of heat over here. It's not for the heat there's outside. In our house, when the house is 18 degrees outside, it's boiling. It's so hot in our house. Because it's all glass. If ever we cook in the kitchen, it's just so hot, in it. Because the whole wall is glass,
Starting point is 00:20:52 So the sun comes in and stays in. So basically, yeah, outside is 18 degrees, but in the house is 27. It's 27. Should we move on to some messages from our lovely listeners? So the first one is from Kate on YouTube has asked. You both have such a hot body. Oh, thank you. If you have one exercise to help get a flat tummy, what will it be?
Starting point is 00:21:16 An easy one, but beneficial, please. Okay. I'd love to tell you. You can't spot reduce fans. Kate, annoyingly. If you could, I would do one specific exercise. So you just say flat tummy, not to reduce fat. Yeah, but to get a flat tummy, it's to reduce fat in your tummy. No.
Starting point is 00:21:31 It's diet to reduce your tummy. Yeah, it's just, I don't know. I do a lot of plank work, but that's post, because I've had two C-sections. For me, my core was shattered. I guess it depends also because, for example, like, you can be lean and have, like, low percent body fat, but you can have an extended abdominal, which is nothing to be with have hyper like be fat or have a big belly or fat or not you can hold you mean because for example me I have low body fat but
Starting point is 00:22:00 I have like my abdomen is very like extended extended like my stomach that's something there's genetics and everything you mean but also as well for women I was listening to a pod on this and it's like a primal thing as well so the last place most women not not every woman but the last place most women lose weight is the lower belly and thighs and bums and it's because it's nature's way
Starting point is 00:22:25 to protect your reproductive organs obviously if you get too low body fat sometimes it can affect your cycle you get a lot of competition women who don't have periods and stuff so it's nature's way to like no we need to keep
Starting point is 00:22:38 store this area keep it as protected as possible because we may one day and again like flat tommy like for example you wake up in the morning and your stomach looks very flat through the day when you're eating and because of the digestion
Starting point is 00:22:50 and the foods that you eat can cause like inflammation and everything. You finish the day and the same person has a different like stomach like could be like more bloated and less bloated. It's just something that's very difficult. Like I don't know, everybody's different. I was saying to our to Vic, our friend and cleaner this morning, she was saying to me, I want to be 10 stone on the dot. I just want to be 10 stone.
Starting point is 00:23:11 I said, you're never going to be that on the dot. She was like, what do you mean? She was a woman. Yeah, I said, well I, like last week, I was 70 kilograms on like a Tuesday. my period started that evening I went on the scales again on the Wednesday I was 73 so I've not put three kilograms of fat on in a day
Starting point is 00:23:29 it's my water retention your hormones your period the end of the day the heat the inflammation everything but if you let that get in your head like oh my God I've put on three kilograms so I would just be I do lots of plank works if you just want one lots of planks
Starting point is 00:23:46 side planks don't waste your time with loads and loads of crunches I think you know If you've got a strong core is in your transverse abdominals, not just the ones you can see, the ones at the back, it'll help you with back problems as well. You'll have a stronger back, less back problems as you get older. So I would do planks, work your way up to as long as you can on your shoulders, then your hands, side planks.
Starting point is 00:24:09 And yeah, enjoy it, Kate. Just nice and consistent, slow but steady and consistent wins the race. Next one? Claire? Next one is Claire. That's for you very long. Hello, I'm another listener from South Africa. Wow.
Starting point is 00:24:25 I've been here for 15 years, but I love listening to you both. It brings me home to the UK once a week. I was just laughing, listening to the story about how hung over you were while sat in A&E with Mia and Tiago after your 40th. I have a similar story, but I definitely wasn't hung over or drinking. She says, I'd just finished work to start maternity leave. My husband and I thought we would go out for one last time before the baby arrived as our friends were down from Cape Town.
Starting point is 00:24:49 So we went to theirs for a brie And she's putting back It's a barbecue I went to bed early Complaining of backache and joking That it was the first signs of labour Hubby climbed into bed at 3am Stinking of Brandy
Starting point is 00:25:01 I walk up at 4 with something Coming down my leg Oh my gosh At that stage in pregnancy It could be pee But I thought my waters were breaking I was debating I was debating on whether to wait the hubby
Starting point is 00:25:10 And I decided I probably should We phoned the hospital And they told us to come in to get checked I was in labour My husband stank so much I made him sit on the other side of the room It got to 6pm that evening and I wasn't making progress. My doctor looked at my husband and said it's going to be a while.
Starting point is 00:25:24 Go get a burger, have a shower, get some sleep and come back tomorrow. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was horrified. I thought they wouldn't let us bring our son home as we seemed irresponsible. Our son is turning 12 next week and we seem to be winning at parenting life after all. Oh, that's a fun story. I love that you said. You thought the doctors weren't going to let you bring him home. They're over-explaining is what you did.
Starting point is 00:25:48 I did the exact same thing as that I don't drink normally. It was my 40th last night. Oh, of course he'd let you bring them home. But I bet your husband felt like absolute shite. And I bet he was thinking secretly. He wouldn't have said it. But I bet he was secretly thinking, today of all days. You've gone into labour.
Starting point is 00:26:04 I know, bless Claire. Oh, thank you, Claire. Should we move on to Jenna? Hi, Gemma and Gorga. I'm Jenna from Hampshire. And just wanted to say how much I love the two of you and the pod. I look forward to the new episodes every week and generally,
Starting point is 00:26:19 belly love at all your lost in translation moments. I've been a huge fan of Goldcon's Strickley for the past few years and recently went to watch him on tour at the London Paladium. I wrote him a car celebrating his 10 years of Strickley and as we left the theatre, I spotted him crossing the road
Starting point is 00:26:36 with his hat on and sunglasses on so probably didn't want to be seen. It was sunny and I was just... You always wear a hat, though, don't you? I was just rushing also to get food. Yeah. My whole sense of safety went out of the window and I ran into the main road in the middle of London in front of a big red
Starting point is 00:26:52 bus. I remember that and tap me on the shoulder. And a black taxi to give him his car. I'm so glad I didn't get either of us running over. How silly of me. Poor Goldcar probably just wanted five minutes' peace to get a coffee. So I am sorry. Don't worry for all good.
Starting point is 00:27:07 I got the car. I think it's the car that she wrote about the forward rolls also. My forward rolls were awful. She's like, me as right. They are not very good. I'm a gymnas teacher I absolutely adore your whole family and love how down to earth
Starting point is 00:27:22 and humble you are P.S. please do a pot life tour I will 100% be there. Aww That's nice of it. I like them. Oh, he's just dropped his iPad. I'm excited.
Starting point is 00:27:34 They come and watch you're on the tour and then do little things after. Yeah, I even got a book I think I have a home. Yes, you brought it home, didn't you? The one is like my whole journey on it strictly. Someone's made him a book of his whole journey.
Starting point is 00:27:47 journey on Strictly. So every single dance partner he's had. The dances is done, the movie weeks, the costumes. Even you, you know? Yeah. Even I made the cut. For Christmas. Yeah, the Christmas special.
Starting point is 00:27:59 But it's such a lovely, thoughtful thing to do. It would have cost money that as well. And so well done because it's like they have like paragraphs with like telling moments or the scores that I got. And then it goes also to like the finals that I did. Yeah. The Strigley tools, for example. It's very nice.
Starting point is 00:28:15 I wouldn't even do that for Stallone. I know. But it's a really nice gesture. What are you trying to say? No, it's just a lot of effort, isn't it? Yeah, something that you will never do. Would you do that for someone in the public? Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:27 Who would you do for? If I have a fan like that, we'll do that for. No, who are you a fan of who you'd do that to? I mean, I don't have, I'm not admired someone that much to do that anyway. That's what I'm saying. I admire Stollon, but I don't think I could be asked to make a book for him. I will do it for you, for you, for example. Would you?
Starting point is 00:28:41 You did it for me once for Mother's Day? There we go. But that was for a job. It was for a job. Do you remember? It was for a job. No, it wasn't. Yes, it was.
Starting point is 00:28:51 No, it wasn't. Gawker, your nose is growing. No. It was for a job. Maybe. You were asked to work with this company. Maybe. Yeah, there you go.
Starting point is 00:29:01 But it's still lovely and we have still got it. We've got another message from Lisa. Oh, wow. This is interesting, Gorks. She says, hi, Gemmer and Gorka. I was watching and chuckling along to the pod this morning. You mentioned, up Gorka's doppelganga.
Starting point is 00:29:18 I said to my husband a few weeks ago when Novak Djokovic was on the telly that I think he looks quite a bit like Gorka. He says no, but I still think I'm right. Look at this picture of Jokovic in the green and look at Gorka today. Look down your camera. But in the face that he has.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Oh, no. I'm not doing like nothing like him. I don't want you to look like... He's totally skinny. He's an incredible athlete. He's an incredible athlete. But to me, Amazing tennis player.
Starting point is 00:29:49 Visually, he reminds me of... Do you remember Mia's little postman pat thing? She had a postman pat doll. Yes. But I think he doesn't probably think highly of me, which is fine, but I think he's an incredible athlete. But I don't think you look like him.
Starting point is 00:30:06 Nothing at all. Seeing that, I can't see it, the side profile. The only thing that we have in common is that we both went towards Balbani. Side profile it? Oh, a little bit, yeah. No, I don't. Lisa, you've ruined it for me. She's just ruining my relationship with her.
Starting point is 00:30:20 Now she's not going to be close to me. Because she doesn't like Nova Djokovic. I don't find him attractive. I think he's an incredible athlete. I prefer Nadal. We like Nadal, don't we? Of 100% in Spanish. We like Nadal.
Starting point is 00:30:34 But he's one of the best tennis players in the history of tennis. But thank you for that, Lisa. Any more doppelgangers? Please do send them in. We love knowing the doppelgangers. I never found someone that looks like you. I always. get and I don't see it whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:30:49 100% not. I'm always told, and I have been since my Holyoke's day's been told I look like Kaylee Kuckoo. I don't. I cannot... Kelly Kuckoo? I can't see it whatsoever, but people always tell me... Oh, yes. No.
Starting point is 00:31:03 We're nowhere near, nothing at all. Yeah, a little bit, yeah. I don't get that whatsoever. I mean, she's beautiful, but people message me that a lot and I'm like, no, not really. I'd prefer you. Our final message is from Helen this week, who's also got a dilemma for us to do a solve. Thanks to Shell for partnering with the show. They have got everything you need for the summer.
Starting point is 00:31:33 We're approaching summer which I can't wait for. It means getting outside and enjoying the sun as much as possible. There is so much to look forward to. What are you more excited for, Gemma? You love a barbecue, don't you? I love it. You go insane on the barbecue. Even when it's not really, really hot and sunny, you will still stand and cook on the barbecue.
Starting point is 00:31:50 When it's like sunny and a bit warm, I love a barbecue. Everything, like the chicken breast tastes better, a nice steak on the barbecue, even just like the vegetables, like the mushrooms, you know, that everything tastes better on a barbecue. You get the paddling pool out. Yes, nice salad. Summer's just, it's just a fun time, isn't it? I know, it's not long until summer arrives, you know? And you can get your full barbecue bits from Shell, which you can buy everything.
Starting point is 00:32:13 You can even get the coal for your barbecue from there as well. I know, and you know what's my favorite thing from there? What? is the port belly bites on the grill. And a nice salt and pepper chicken. Oh gosh, you're making everyone on that. Ice cream after, you know, you can get everything. Plus, when you're a Shell Go Plus Rewards member,
Starting point is 00:32:31 you get 100 bonus points when you buy two soft drinks. So you guys really should download the app and give it a go now. Sign up now while you can. I'm just glad I'm back to filling my own car using my own points so you can't use them. Yeah, that's the downside of you being home. Anyway, thanks to Shell for sponsoring the show. let's get back to the episode. So this week's dilemma is from Helen
Starting point is 00:32:56 and she says, Hi Gemma and Gorka. I appreciate your opinion on this as I know you are spiritual, northern and have suffered the upset of losing a much-loved parent, Gemma, like myself. Oh, God bless you. She says, last week,
Starting point is 00:33:07 I went with my partner to see his 80-year-old mum. He calls her mother, and I know by her facial expression, she hates it. It's a bit mother. He promised his late father that he'd look after her
Starting point is 00:33:20 and he does. He checks in on her three times a week And he deals with the finances and maintenance bills, etc He has retired himself So he does this while I'm at work My own parents have passed on I adored my parents and we were very close We were a strong close-knit northern family
Starting point is 00:33:34 And live in a lovely friendly town Where it's not uncommon to call your mates mum Mum, mum I understand that I'm upset because last week When we visited my partner's mum He greeted her with hello mother as usual And I called her mum
Starting point is 00:33:48 My partner visited his mum on his own a few days later and she's told him that I've called her mum on occasion and she's uncomfortable with it and she wants to be called by her name. To be honest, this has stunned me. My own mum is irreplaceable and I'd never dream of trying to form a bond with anyone else in the same way. I said it in a lovingly gesture way. I've felt misunderstood and she's taken a friendly gesture the wrong way and made me feel awkward. I've since explained myself to my partner. He's put her straight but now I'm left dreading the next time we visit. I absolutely love your pod. You to a fabulous. together and I value your opinions.
Starting point is 00:34:22 Much love Helen. Well, Helen, to be honest, I'm lost in translation right now. You're a lost in translation, no. Being Spanish, I don't know. So let's go. Let's work back with this. So Helen called a mum.
Starting point is 00:34:33 She didn't like it. Her son called... So Helen called mom to her mom? A mother-in-law. Okay. The son... It is her mom in-law, no? Mother-in-law, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:42 So you can call her mom, no? The son's called a mother, and she doesn't like that, judging by her face expression. So she doesn't like to be called mother or mom? So maybe she wants to be just called the name by both of you. Yeah, but if I go to your mom,
Starting point is 00:34:54 now I go to Sandra, she will be like, what's wrong with you? Same way, if I go maybe to your mom, mom, mom, mom, she'll say, like, what's wrong with you? Do you mean? Yeah, you call my mum sans, don't you? Sondra. And you go to your mom, Sandra, and you go to your mom. I always call me mum, mom. That's what I'm saying, but for example, if we reverse the roles,
Starting point is 00:35:11 if you go to your mom now and go, Sandra, see what's wrong with you, Gemma? Yeah, I'd get in trouble. And if I go to your mom, hi, mom, she would like, what's wrong with you? Yeah. But if I called my mum Sandra at any age, she'd say you're talking to you. So if I don't think she should call her for her name and the son call her mom.
Starting point is 00:35:29 And if no, just ask her how she wants to be called. I wouldn't let it upset you, Helen, because like you've said, the bigger picture is she's poorly, she's 80. I wouldn't let that stress you and you don't want to put any stress on her. So I would, obviously you feel misunderstood because you meant it from a lovely way of being friendly. but in the grand scheme of things next time you go just call her by her name or just say hi are you okay
Starting point is 00:35:53 and leave it at that I wouldn't go too deep into it if it was you and your partner having a do then yeah but if it was my mum I'm trying to think when my mum if she's lucky enough to get to 80 touch wood
Starting point is 00:36:07 thank you Raphael Michael Angelo and everyone listening if you called a mum she'd probably think you'd gone off your rocker wouldn't she well I sometimes takes you I text you for example
Starting point is 00:36:17 from my way and I go like, how do you speak to your mom about the kids? So sometimes I don't put the year I put like, how do you speak to mom about the kids?
Starting point is 00:36:24 Just meaning that I type quicker but she understands that I'm... Because she is like a second mom to you anyway, didn't she? Yeah. But I won't go and call her mom. No.
Starting point is 00:36:33 My sister's married to an Italian and Rob calls her mom. Yeah. He goes, you're right, Mom? Like that to him. She goes,
Starting point is 00:36:40 I have a friend. But he's Italian. He'd do a nine-day wedding. Do you know what I mean? That I've already established. Yeah. So. I think it just depends on people's backgrounds.
Starting point is 00:36:49 Maybe, yeah, I don't know. So I would just tell, I wouldn't mention it again. I wouldn't give it the time and energy. I wouldn't let it stress you. You're going to just stay relaxed. Remember her circumstance, her situation. Going bright as rain next time. Be like, hi, you're okay?
Starting point is 00:37:03 And just shelve it. But thank you for messaging. Thank you for listening to the podcast, Helen. And hopefully we'll sort your dilemma or are making you more confused like I am. Anyway, should be now. move to my favorite part of the pod. The game? Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:20 Let's do it. Our sponsor today is Whoop, and I honestly wish I had my Whoop when Mia was tiny and I was running on about three hours sleep wondering why I felt like absolute rubbish. And I still feel like rabbi sometimes, but at least now we know why.
Starting point is 00:37:41 Whoop tell us what our bodies are really doing. Right? And instead of going, I'm tired, I don't know why, maybe it's the weather. It's like having a little coach, a little PT that actually stays on your arm. Actually, my recovery's been 25% actually, so it's told me not to go into a massive workout. I need to rest. For me, it's about understanding when I can push in training versus when my body needs rest.
Starting point is 00:38:02 Because with dance, tour, the kids, with everything, you think you should always be going full speed. But you can't, that's the thing. And whoop helps you make smarter decisions with your training. Instead of just guessing it. Like, should I have that extra coffee and get an early night? Listen to your whoop. It tracks your sleep, strain and recovery. all the things that busy parents never have time to think about it
Starting point is 00:38:26 but probably we should. Exactly. It's like finally understanding your own energy instead of just hoping for the best and wondering why you're knackered by Tuesday. If you want to stop guessing and start understanding what your body actually needs, go to whoop.com. This week's game is Gemma and Gorker answer the internet. Bam, bam, bam, barra. Our producers have typed our names into Google.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Oh gosh. And I'm challenging us to answer some of the questions that come up. There's so many. I'll check them before, yeah. You've checked, you've Googled yourself. No, but you know, when sometimes it's like a story you see, and then you have the name, Jemangorg, blah, blah, blah. And he goes like, especially now since AI,
Starting point is 00:39:10 there's so many of the questions. Do you remember when we first started seeing each other and your dad called to say he'd Googled me? Yeah. You should go and put Jem. He Googled images, not just new images. And all my FHM nuts, Zoom. all the good old days.
Starting point is 00:39:27 Now everybody's going to go too late. I know. Get the ratings up. Oh, God. So the first one that comes up when you Google you is, is Gawker-Marquez married to Gemma? Not yet. Not yet.
Starting point is 00:39:42 You're Gemma Atkinson vegetarian? I'm more of a, what do you call it? A fussy eater. Yeah. So... She doesn't need a lot of... She doesn't eat meats. I've not eaten red meat since I was 25.
Starting point is 00:39:56 I won't eat fish unless I'm abroad because then I know it's actually from the sea so I drive Gorka Mad and then chicken unless it's organic free range and all that which nowadays a lot isn't Not even that sometimes yeah No
Starting point is 00:40:13 If you get a piece of chicken you usually like no No I can't do it So primarily plant based I'm not I eat everything Gokker eats everything And more of a I may she used to call me a cutarian
Starting point is 00:40:26 because if anything was cute, I wouldn't eat it. In fact, I bought yesterday 400 grams steak to make it tonight with some chimichury before the game. Look at him getting ready for his football. I'm off work tonight as well, aren't I? So I can sort the kids while you sit and watch it. I'm going to have some chimichoree with a steak. Nice. Is Gokamakès Spanish?
Starting point is 00:40:48 No. You're not fully Spanish, though, are you really? I'm from Czech Republic. His mum's actually Portuguese. Yeah, but I am Spanish. Spanish, yeah, but your mum's Portuguese, your dad's Spanish. I'm from Bilbao. Most beautiful city in the country.
Starting point is 00:41:03 One of the best cities to eat food next to San Sebastian. Is Gemma Atkinson taller than Gawker? Yes. I'm short in this country. You're five foot eight, I'm five foot nine? No, five seven. You're not five seven. Five seven and a half.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Yeah. You're five nine. You're five foot seven? Yeah. Look, but I've got heels on and all them pictures I'm wearing high heels. So you can't be 5.7. I'm 5.7. Oh, it says 5.6 there.
Starting point is 00:41:29 I know. I'm 5'6. 6. I'm 1 6, 6768. I'm not, I'm 173. You can't be 5 foot 7 because those pictures where I'm taller than you, I'm in high heels. I know. And I'm only a little bit taller than you.
Starting point is 00:41:42 I'm 5.7.5. I'm 5.5. I'm built like a brick shit ass. By my last medical test when I do in the running thing, they test you hiding and everything. five seven and a half so I'm one seventy three okay is Gorka Mac as an only child no I met Gorka's brother and it was hilarious he was very very funny but so different to Gorka do you know like I'm trying to think you know you have the program Hyacinth Bucke and you think of the Hyacinthi Hyacin's Bucke's family and then Alonzo's family
Starting point is 00:42:17 Gorker's in the Hyacin's bouquet his brother's Alonzo that's all I'll say He was very, very funny, though. He was lovely. I've met him a few times. Is Gorka Marquez Catholic? Yes. Yes. You don't go to Catholic church, though, do you?
Starting point is 00:42:32 I am Catholic, yeah. But you used to, and you went to a Catholic school. What is Gemma-Akinson famous for? I was not sorry, actress. No, what am I famous for? You're not famous, first of all. No, I work in the public eye. There you go.
Starting point is 00:42:48 I've done every soap you can imagine, my darlings. I run a business, and I was F.H. Sexiest Woman back in the day. Your dad'll know. What is Gorka Marquez doing now? Nothing? Did you say nothing? At the moment, right now I'm sat here.
Starting point is 00:43:05 At the moment you sat here. Many things. Many things. He's got many fingers in many pies. And when I'm at work, he's Mrs. Doubtfire, I call it. Yeah. Dancing there with a Hoover. Mrs. Doubtfire at home.
Starting point is 00:43:16 Does your Mackey don't have any tattoos? I've got one. You used to have three. Got two laced off. Why didn't remove that one on that? because I can't see it so I forget it's there I see it
Starting point is 00:43:26 do you like it? No no so I had I used to have one on my tummy some little Chinese symbols which I had done in a tattoo
Starting point is 00:43:37 pile next to BCM in Magalov That tattoo that gives away who is no Yeah So there we go So I had that done And my best friend Laura
Starting point is 00:43:45 Had a She had a She had the symbol From busted You know the band busted Yeah She had the symbol from Busted, tattooed on her ankle,
Starting point is 00:43:56 really big on her ankle, because she loved them. She went to see them last week in Manchester. Oh, bless her. And then I used to have the Britney Spears' second album on the actual disc, it had a little fairy, like a fairy hieroglyphic. I don't think you might see it, but it had a little fairy,
Starting point is 00:44:15 and I had that tattooed on my lower back. That was quite sweet. I remember going with you to the album to get removed. That was really lovely And I had tattoo removal on both of them because they were just awful And tattoo removal is the most painful thing I've ever had in my life I remember there, I was with you
Starting point is 00:44:32 And then the one on my neck Which I've not had removed because of the pain And because I can't see it I had done at Miami Inc And there was a guy called worm From the TV show Miami Inc Worm tattooed my neck for me And it's a mirror
Starting point is 00:44:46 Which means princess In Arabic Nice So that's only a little tiny tiny thing but I do forget it's there. It's only when I've got my hair up and I do, someone go, oh, you've got your tattoo.
Starting point is 00:44:58 If I could see it, and I would get it removed, because I can't, I just forget about it. Nice. So I did have three, now have one. I don't recommend tattoo removal. It's awful. So if you are thinking about getting one, don't do it.
Starting point is 00:45:10 I think very hard because the removal, it's like having hot chip fat, and you have to have loads and loads of sessions. It's not nice. I went with you one or twice, no? Yeah. I'd rather have childbirth than go through that. It was awful
Starting point is 00:45:24 You're being burnt You've literally been going Doof Duf Burning your whole skin And then you break The ink breaks down And then you whee it out
Starting point is 00:45:34 So you'd like flush it out But then you have to go back Like six weeks later With your skin cycle And have it redone again Until all the old ink No Is Gemma Atkinson still a glamour model
Starting point is 00:45:45 What do you think Look at me? You could be I mean I've still got it I've still got the poses Yeah I'm only a glam model at home for gorks.
Starting point is 00:45:55 When? No. The answer to that is no. I mean, I missed it then. I know. I still do the occasional photo shoot for stuff, but I don't think there is any glamour models now. It's all only fans.
Starting point is 00:46:06 The amount of times people are saying to me, go on only fans, you'd make a fortune. I don't want to. I mean, I could do my feet, because people wouldn't know it's my feet. Do you know what I mean? I don't pay for you to your feet. I know, I was going to say, but my feet are awful.
Starting point is 00:46:18 But there isn't glamour models now. There's no magazines, loaded magazine. Do you remember they've just relaunched? They asked me to be on the cover. They wanted me to do the very first cover for the relaunch. But I said, to imagine who's going to buy that? Now do people still buy mags? You can access everything on the internet.
Starting point is 00:46:33 Yeah. And with people's social media, everyone's a model now, aren't they? Until you delete social media, and boom, you're not. Was Gorka Marquez on Love Island? I hope not. No. I actually hate Love Island. No.
Starting point is 00:46:49 How funny that they come up on Google. And how funny that after almost nine years I've only just found out your 5 foot 7.5, not 5'8 No, I'm 5'7, I mean 5'7 and a half, 5'8, you know, is a much different. Yeah, 6, 7. Yeah, it depends on the morning, you know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:05 But that's all we've got time for, for this episode. That was quick, wasn't it? Did you thought there was these questions in the internet? No. I mean, I don't know why people would be asked about some of them questions. How about there is more questions, for sure? Yeah, there will be. They were some, but we've got to remember this is a PG podcast, so I couldn't ask.
Starting point is 00:47:27 So Enrique's PG-13. Anyway, Jeremy Anarchison is finishing the podcast now. We are finishing the podcast now. Only for this episode, we are back next week. Do you know what I mean? We've been going nearly a year now, Gox. We need to go and prepare the birthday for Mia. Oh, yes, Mia's birthday.
Starting point is 00:47:45 It's a birthday on Saturday. Yeah, we'll tell you all about it. We've got a party to plan. Thank you so much for listening. Thank you for all your members. messages. As always, we really appreciate it. 0.7-6103-9898 for your WhatsApp, see pictures, everything. Lost in Translation
