Starting point is 00:00:01 Coming up. Proximately. Top five things about the UK. Gemarackinson. As if you're actually doing a French accent. Instead of just saying orange duck. I lifted it up. It was an actual foot of a chicken.
Starting point is 00:00:21 I love a bloody sandy rose with a lot of potatoes. That's the first thing I ate after I'd had mea. So everyone had the tea and toast on the ward. I had a cheese and onion. Pasti. Ooh, I could smash a me. Mexican now. I'm not Mexican in ages. I don't see that. I see you in a care home and me piping 40-year-olds. Oh, gosh.

So whatever you're doing this summer, Shell is your one-stop shop for summer snacks and refreshments. Hello, and you say you start, because I always start.
Starting point is 00:01:59 Hello and welcome to another episode of Lost in Translation. I'm Gokamarker, and this is Jim Arkinson. That's what you say. Yeah. So welcome to the pod, you know, where we listen but we don't judge, we talk all dilemmas. We say things that know you about each other during the week. We catch up because sometimes we don't even see each other. And we also play some games.

Starting point is 00:02:43 Correct. That's how you say it, yeah. Or follow us at lost.org in-dot podcast. And yeah, we love hearing from you. We love your comments. We love your videos. It's a really fun podcast to be part of. So thank you for tuning in.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Or if you're watching on YouTube, thanks as well. I'm heads towing green today. I think I've misjudged the orange of the couch. I think it looks nice, you know. Do you like it? Yeah. About my socks. No, the suck, no.
Starting point is 00:03:08 But I like it. And also, guys, the more you're in touch, the more dilemmas and the stories you said to us, it's actually like even more fun because it becomes like a conversation with everybody, isn't it? Yes, everyone gets involved with lost in translation. Because I think secretly everyone is lost in translation. Whether you're a parent, you're doing a relationship, you're doing a job, you've moved cities. Everyone's winging it in life. No one knows what they're doing, 100% did they?
Starting point is 00:03:33 So this is the safe space for us to all air that. and us all think we're all basically up shit creek without a paddle. But we keep paddling. That's the main thing. We keep on paddling. So without further ado... Bavonos. Dun, dun, dun.
Starting point is 00:03:53 So we've had a busy few weeks, haven't we? Yes. Little man, it's Tio's birthday this week. Yeah. It'll be three. Less than two weeks ago, Mia turned seven. Yes. She had a wonderful party.
Starting point is 00:04:05 She loved it. She basically, she is like a little lady, a little old lady in a kid's body. I said to her months ago, thinking we were going to have to hire out a play centre or something, what do you want to do for your birthday? And she said, do you know what, mum? I just want a family day, didn't she? And my little heart, I went, what? I said, just a family day.
Starting point is 00:04:24 She went, yeah, just the family round, barbecue, bit of music like we normally do. Because whenever there's a bank holiday or anything, we always host. I say we. Gorker always hosts. I sit and eat his food. No, she hosts. I cook. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:38 I'm a good party planner. but she just said that she'd love to do that and I said well what about your friends from school do you don't want to do something with them and she said well I could have a few round for tea I said you don't want to party do the trampolining or the wall climbing she went nah just a few girls round for tea
Starting point is 00:04:55 so she had five friends round for a pyjama party and we surprised her we'd hired a bouncy castle for the garden without telling her so we surprised her with that it was July the 4th Independence Day so Gawker you did American food the burgers you did you did did hot dogs, pizzas.
Starting point is 00:05:11 And it was just a really chill. Chips everywhere, yeah. Chill day. Very light. They were playing Taylor Swift, you know, dancing and everything, yeah. It was good. I mean, the house was on its ass, but it was fun. She loved it, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:22 And we have to do it all again for Tio now. And we're at home, so we don't have to go anywhere, anything like that. No. No. And then for presents, all the, like, a school mummates were messaging me, and even the family saying, what does she want? She just asked for Primark vouchers. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:35 She meant, I want to do a holiday shop. Nice. Because we were going on holiday soon, so she wanted a holiday show. You always had a Prime Mark. Yeah, Gorka hates Primark. I get like a skin reaction. He's hell on earth for him. He always says it's too busy, you can't move, there's clothes everywhere.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Yeah, I don't, yeah. He hates it. Well, Mia loves it, and she wanted that for a birthday, so that's what she got. So we're going to do a holiday shop. And then for Tiago, his birthday, again, we've got a bouncy castle. He doesn't know it yet. And we've got just the family, because he's too young to have a party in a nursery. And for him, he's just going to be like a, he's going to be like, oh, another.
Starting point is 00:06:09 the whole family is in the house. But he's been saying for the last month, is it my birthday yet? Is it my birthday? But I like that the close together. I know. We did plan that to have them close together. Well, we'd plan to have Tiago
Starting point is 00:06:23 the same year that Mia started school. And I said to you, Dina, I'm a winter baby, my sister's a winter baby, and my sister's the 3rd of January. I'm the 16th November. And my mum always said parties for us, for kids were awful.
Starting point is 00:06:36 It was always chucking it down or snowing in January. She said, you had to always be inside or if you had anyone around the house, everything was wet through. And that's always stuck with me. So we'd purposely plan to have summer babies close together. And as it happened, Tiago came in the July.
Starting point is 00:06:56 Mia started school in the September. The other thing that worries me of this now, it's fine. But when they're older, they're going to be like, Mom, I'm going to go to Magalov with a girls to celebrate my birthday. I'm going to go to Ibiza with the girls to celebrate my birthday because it's on summer birthday. you know. I'll go with him.
Starting point is 00:07:11 Yeah, you go. I will. Mia would love me or not? Imagine me and I'll be like Chris Jenner and Clay Condition. I'll be Chris Jenner with Mia. Nice. I'll go everywhere with her. Can't be Scott Dissick then?
Starting point is 00:07:22 No, don't be Scott. She'll be fine. We'll go everywhere. But there's not like when Mia's 21, Tiago, it won't be 18, will he was 17. Yeah. Yeah. So I was going to say if he was 18 and 21,
Starting point is 00:07:34 that would have a double celebration. But yeah, that's all our life has been at the minute. kids parties and stuff. And then we go holiday soon. We're going to the reef. We're going back to the reefe. Yeah. Which I love.
Starting point is 00:07:47 Very excited. I love my holidays. But we've needed a holiday for a while. We say two weeks coming back from Spain. But that wasn't a holiday. No, and this is a proper holiday. This is a proper relax, switch off, chebbs out on the beach. And this time we're going on with the four of us because that's all we're ready with your mom and Peter.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Yeah. So that was good because we used to say to them, we're going to go for a walk. you go to Granddad. Anytime Tiago come up to me last year on holiday I'd say, go and ask Gangan. Go and ask you Gangan. And I'd be sat there with me, my gin and tonic on the beach.
Starting point is 00:08:19 Go on ask Gangan. I'm not here. Can't do that this year. We're going to have to look after our own kids. Oh, gosh. Anyway. But no, it'll be fun. So, anything that I've annoyed you this week?
Starting point is 00:08:33 Nothing really, no. Just kind of how relaxed you were in terms of party planning. like it's not really annoying it's just your persona though you're quite That's what I mean I mean I organised this like months ago
Starting point is 00:08:47 And the same for me as Everything was organised Signed sealed delivered Like the sweet cones that we gave out As like I don't do party bags I do little sweet cones They were in my mum's for like three weeks Before and
Starting point is 00:09:01 I like to be organised It's a team work You organised that You did all the food There we go Who is the one cooking Making the food making everything looks nice and presentable.
Starting point is 00:09:11 The kids have food, the family have food, who makes nice salads, nice this. It's me. You don't do that. If I leave that to you, there was no food. We'll be having McDonald's. I will never eat at McDonald's.
Starting point is 00:09:23 I know, but you know what I mean, no? Yeah, I've not had McDonald's in years. We've been having, like, cheese pies, cheese pies, onion pies, and beef pies. I like a castery. No. Yeah, that's the first thing I ate after I'd had Mia.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Was it Mia or Or Tio? when there was a car's pasty van outside the hospital. And when we were going in the hospital, I saw that van. And when I'd give birth, I said to him, if you have very respect for me, you're going to get me a car's pasty right this minute. So everyone had the tea and toast on the ward. I had a cheese and onion pasta. I can't do that.
Starting point is 00:09:54 That's why I have already, even if she doesn't know, she's like, when do you go into the food list for the shopping? I was like, it's okay, it's fine. I already have here what I'm going to have on the Friday and what I'm going to make on the Saturday. My mom said not to do food on the Saturday. She said, bollocks to it, Gemma. She said, we'll come around at once.
Starting point is 00:10:10 She said, we'll have had lunch. She said, just nibbles. Keep it simple. Manchengo crisps, a bit of cold slow, homemade. Nibbles. But then when they have the little, like, mayonnaise salad thin, the little Iverical ham there, it's just nibbles, but then everybody, like, buffed it.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Everyone what? They've boffed it, no? Wooft it, yeah. Woofde, yeah. I thought he said buffed it. Yeah, everyone woofed, everyone woofed it. Yeah. They always say to Gorka, don't go out your way for us, Gorka.
Starting point is 00:10:33 It's fine. but then when he does they're all like oh my gosh you'll see how long as you're not last the crispy pork belly bites like deep fried and crispy yeah in the tray or like when i made the chorizo with the like with the maple syrup and the chili honey sauce you'll see as you're going to go like that and my sister always says it's our kid she always goes he's go okay doing that egg mayo thing do you know and i say i don't know nina ask him she's you asking for me yeah ask him if he's doing it so have you got one for me me? Yes, I do actually. What is it? It's just that when I'm trying to cook and everything, you just keep wondering around in the kitchen, asking me, do me do anything, you do to do anything?
Starting point is 00:11:13 Yeah, because I don't just think I'm lazy. No, I just, when you, I always say, do you just leave me alone in the kitchen, yeah. You were like that Christmas morning, Jemma, you went in a mood because I was offering to help. Yeah. And you went, it's Christmas. I was like, if you want to help me, just get out of the kitchen. I said to him, it's Christmas, put Christmas music on, put your Christmas hat on when you're cooking. He didn't even have a Christmas out on cooking. I was in the zone. I was being a professional chef. I was wearing glaps and everything for everything.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Well, I like to, which I know you do appreciate, because when you finish with the plate, I wash it for you straight away. That's helpful. Yeah. Yeah. It keeps the kitchen clean as you tied. I do that myself too. I know.
Starting point is 00:11:54 But I feel bad like all the families around, you're cooking and I'm not doing anything. Even though I have made the house decorative, bought the food, done all that. I have part eight. Far took, partaken. Parataken. I have been involved. But then you just don't want me in the way in the kitchen.
Starting point is 00:12:10 No, because it's like, I'd rather be on my own. Clean and tidy my own way. I know what everything is. I've got to know where everything goes, you know? Okay. So, also, when I'm cooking and you get there around, you are nibbling. I do nibble. You're like, the roast potatoes, gone.
Starting point is 00:12:24 What is this? Oh, it's gone. Yeah. I had about six roast potatoes. Make hummus. Make the hummus nice fresh. Put it in a tray, nice and presentable with a little chickpeas on top, the paprika. turn around
Starting point is 00:12:35 come back he's like douche what happened here oh sorry I was just straight and no I was just making
Starting point is 00:12:40 you presentable from the table I was trying it with the Dorillo oh it was nice no crying Dorido inside now
Starting point is 00:12:46 no dog is very thingy when he cooks yeah the ham everything is on like a form and shape
Starting point is 00:12:52 everything makes into like butterflies and stuff and yeah like a restaurant it's gonna be eaten yeah
Starting point is 00:12:57 but when you look at it a pillure in the eyes so then you think oh this is gonna look nice I think you'd be
Starting point is 00:13:02 you know human with the eye not with the mouth. That's why I can't understand how you can eat pork. Because pork. When you see a pig's foot and it has a hoof
Starting point is 00:13:12 and hair on it, why would you want to put that in your mouth? You know the face of the pig? Yeah, the cheek, this part of the face of the pig. They're like dogs. You know this part like that when it comes like this? Yeah, when you want to do this,
Starting point is 00:13:22 if you cut that from the skin and dry it like this and pull it out and then put it on a play, yeah? Burn the hair and everything, like clean it properly, slice it up, salt and pepper,
Starting point is 00:13:33 with a little lemon drizzle overnight, get in the morning, deep pan fry an olive oil hot, put it in, crispy, with a piece of bread. Oof. I'm just like, look, I'm just dreaming right now. Would you eat Benji? Pigs are intelligent as dogs, more so. No.
Starting point is 00:13:52 The three pigs we have at Bleakol are so clever. Great. And when we had the open day recently, I went over, they remembered me. They come over, stroke to them. They did prickly. They feel like if you've stroked a pig. I wouldn't eat a Benji.
Starting point is 00:14:04 I wouldn't eat Benji because I wouldn't eat Benji. But pigs, we grew up always eating pigs. So I'm eating pigs because I like it. I love the, you know, the ear of the pig? That my mum used to like boil that, yeah? Like steam it. And then you slice it with olive oil and paprika. That's ridiculously tasty.
Starting point is 00:14:22 Oh, no. Not for me. Free the pigs for me. Octopus. No, no baby octopus has got three hearts and a big brain. No baby octobos. No baby octobus. Why would you want to eat it when it's?
Starting point is 00:14:33 Such an intelligent being living on earth. It's so tender and jummy. Like when you get a big octopus and it's cooked properly, my mom died like in Galicia and then it's boiled. You slice it up in a little like round things in a casserole with a layer of boiled potatoes with sea salt and paprika. Honestly, you guys just don't know in this country what you're missing. Yeah, but it's a life that you're taking to have it.
Starting point is 00:15:00 It's a cycle of life. No, it's not. an octopus didn't the only good thing from it is that when they're born they don't know what's coming and I always say that about little lambs we have lambs in our back field
Starting point is 00:15:11 don't we and I always say to him I always say thank God they don't know what's coming to them they're running around they're jumping the living life and I always say to him it isn't it a blessing
Starting point is 00:15:21 that they don't know what's going to happen at Easter do you know I don't want to change your mind I'm just I'm just helping you I love I'm trying to be aware I'm aware but I love
Starting point is 00:15:31 I'm more aware to have nice is an octopus. Okay. In the grill on holidays. With a nice alcohol-free corona. Oh, no. If I'm having a corona, I'm having a corona.
Starting point is 00:15:42 No. I ain't having alcohol-free corona. So nice. With a bit of lime in it. Yes, and the octopus. No. I want to slap you around the face with a tentacle and send it into Henry to show on this podcast.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Anyway, let's move on. Let's move on. And speaking of octopus, Henry, our producer, has thrown in his question. for us to debate today. This week, they want to know if we had to create a three-course meal that the other person would hate...
Starting point is 00:16:10 Oh, so easy. You would hate pasties. Yes. You would hate macaroni cheese. Yeah. And you would hate... For dessert? For dessert.
Starting point is 00:16:20 You're not really a big dessert person. You'd hate, like, trifle or anything like that. Yeah, or like apple pie. Apple pie. Anything northern and fatty-based, you're not impressed with. basically everything is like very British meals you know as you see well where are we yeah but what would what would I hate
Starting point is 00:16:38 anything with meat yeah like for example if I do you for the start I will do like a prawn salad you will be like oh yeah they have pooing them don't they oysters for you have to pull the poo out of a prawn oysters for example yeah then for a main course I will give you for example
Starting point is 00:16:53 like my mum does like a cow tongue a cow's tongue yeah Oh, that's just You would like... I get it If you were living somewhere
Starting point is 00:17:05 Where there was nothing else to eat And they thought, do you know what This doesn't look appealing But it's going to save us eat it But when you have Every other option of that cow to eat But you pick its tongue Yeah
Starting point is 00:17:18 Have you eating pigs food? No There you go for example Do you know what mum used to give me When I was a kid And I used to apparently love it So berry black pudding Which is obviously pig's blood
Starting point is 00:17:29 I used to have that all the time, she said. When she was weaning me, she weaned me on black pudding. I know how you say here is the best one. You have Morcia de Burgos. It's better than here because here has, in your black pudding, yeah, in the very black pudding, for example, which is one of the best ones. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:44 Has a lot of blood and not too much rice. I always has more rice than blood. Right. And then Burgos is one of the best ones, yeah? And that one, I have this memory. You know when you have core memory as a kid? Yeah. And then when you go away and you come home and you go,
Starting point is 00:17:57 Oh, Mom, I would love to go to this place. to eat this so then you can kind of like as soon you put it in your mouth it brings you back to those memories yeah so when my mom and dad have the beach yeah there is like an old farm restaurant that we used to go there every Sunday or Sunday on the beach for lunch you get like roast chickens and then make this black pudding slice it up deep fry so then the top is very crispy and the middle is soft but they put these red peppers over red like um like patron peppers but red but red but red with garlic and the bread. Oh gosh.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Nice. Like I will fly it right now there just together. Well, I was weaned on black pudding, my mom said. And we used to have ox tail soup. Did it really have an ox tail there? Oh, ox tail is so nice. Remember oxtail soup? It's oxtail meat.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Yes, ox tail is the tail, isn't it? Yeah, it's like very like cartilage and like meaty around it. Yeah, she used to make homemade oxtail soup and she said, I loved it. Ox tail, it all is so good. When I told my mom I was stopping eating meat in my 20s, she said, you used to love black pudding and ox tail soup she said you'll never do it i said mum i'm not i'm not doing it and i haven't since so good so let's read out some messages we've had from our lovely listeners yeah but first day we have a voice note from leslie oh let's play it hi jemma and dorca it's leslie from scotland just wanted to leave a
Starting point is 00:19:19 quick message to say how much i love the podcast it's genuinely the highlight of my wednesdays and i always look forward to a new episode dropping one of my favorite My favourite recurring things is Gemma not being able to say the word anonymous properly. It makes me smile every single time. I was crying me laughter during Debbie's dilemma last week when she didn't want to go to Greece with her current partner because she got married there before. Gemma's advice to her was tell him or write anonymous reviews about the hotel and genuinely laughed out loud.
Starting point is 00:19:54 The chemistry between you two is what makes the podcast so brilliant. keep entertaining us but just being yourselves that's what we all turn in for lots of love thanks for making my Wednesdays a little bit brighter oh Leslie do you know when I was listening
Starting point is 00:20:11 to that then if I shut my eyes it was like my grandma's acting because my grandma was from Scotland Dunfriessen Anan and so listening to Leslie it was like my grandma talking I've not heard the Scottish accent like that for so long thank you for that
Starting point is 00:20:27 Leslie that's such a sweet message I made me teary-eyed that. It was so lovely, and thank you for listening to us. Do you know what, Leslie, you should be proud being a Scot because obviously I know Scotland are out of the World Cup, but all I'm reading and all I'm seeing on social is how incredible the tartan army are. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:43 But thank you, Leslie. I'm glad we're making you Wednesdays a little bit better. Next time, sign off as anominers. Anominers. Why can't I say it? Anonymous. Anonymous. Even me that I'm no British.
Starting point is 00:20:57 I can say anonymous. Anonymous. Is that right? Anonymous. Anon. Anonimus. Anonymous. There we go. You go, Amonimus.
Starting point is 00:21:06 Anonymous. Anonymous. Anonymous. And another one. It's two ends. Anonymous. No. I just put question mark.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Anonymous. I just put love question mark. He's in Spanish. Anonimo. Anomino. The next one is Jasmine from Colchester. Says Felid Viernes. Jema and Gorka.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I don't know why it says Feliz Viernes. What does that say? Happy Thursday. Happy Wednesday. Happy Friday. Happy Friday. Maybe it won't you mess us, so anyway. Felid Viernes. Loving the podcast, you guys keep me sane on my drive-stoo and from work.
Starting point is 00:21:40 I was listening to a recent episode this morning, and you had me crying with love about the bad situation on your trip to spin. Poor Corka. Poor Corka! Exactly. Just wanted to add, I saw you and Karen in Ipswich last year and just wanted to say how great it was. Jem, I love how chill you are about life.
Starting point is 00:22:00 I wish I was more like you. Have a great day. Oh, thank you, Jasmine. She wasn't chilled on the past situation. I love that. I'm the one with a sick bug. I'm the one hanging out my actual asshole, vomiting in a bath.
Starting point is 00:22:14 But poor Gawker, because he didn't get his pipe. I bet you'd pretend that, you know? Sometimes I think if you planned that. What planned to repaint the room? I don't know. Absolutely not. but that's lovely. Thank you for your message. Colchester's lovely as well.
Starting point is 00:22:30 I've been to Colchester's lovely part. Kay, this one's from. Just watching the last episode of Lost in Translation. I'm from down south, and I've also grown up with being asked if I was born in a barn if you left the door open. But then come summer, if you close the door, you'd be questioned if you were too warm to leave closed.
Starting point is 00:22:47 Also being told about Blackpool Illuminations when leaving lights on. So it must just be a UK thing, then not a non thing. Love watching you guys. keep up the good work. Thank you, Kay. I love reading these messages, you know.
Starting point is 00:23:00 It's nice, isn't it? Oh, our final message is from our very own producer, Molly. Oh. Molly's not here. We've got Henry, Enrique. But she's got a dilemma for us. Bless Molly. God, it must be bad if she's coming to us for advice.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Criky, Mole. Thanks to Shell for partnering with the show. They have got everything you need for the summer. We're approaching summer which I can't wait for. It means getting outside. and enjoying the sun as much as possible. There is so much to look forward to. What are you more excited for, Jemma?
Starting point is 00:23:35 You love a barbecue, don't you? I love it, yeah. You go insane on the barbecue. Even when it's not really, really hot and sunny, you will still stand and cook on the barbecue. When it's sunny and a bit warm, I love a barbecue, everything, like, the chicken breast tastes better, a nice steak on the barbecue,
Starting point is 00:23:50 even just, like, the vegetable of all, like the mushrooms, you know, that everything tastes better on a barbecue. You get the paddling pool out. Yes, nice salad. Oh, it's just a fun. time, isn't it? I know. It's not long until summer arrives, you know. And you can get your full
Starting point is 00:24:04 barbecue bits from Shell, which you can buy everything. You can even get the coal for your barbecue from there as well. I know, and you know it's my favorite thing from there. What? It's the pole belly bites on the grill. And a nice salt and pepper chicken. Ooh. Gosh, you're making everyone on that. Ice cream after,
Starting point is 00:24:20 you know, you can get everything. Plus, when you're a Shell Go Plus Rewards member, you get 100 bonus points when you buy two soft drinks, so you guys really should download the app and give it a go now. up now while you can. I'm just glad I'm back to filling my own car using my own points so you can use them. Yeah, that's the downside of you being home.
Starting point is 00:24:38 Anyway, thanks to Cheryl for sponsoring the show. Let's get back to the episode. So every week we solve a dilemma. We obviously read messages, but we always have one dilemma that me and gorks try and solve between us. Obviously, we're not experts, but we try our best. So whether you're team gorks or team gemma in how you handle situations. Which I would love to know now, how is the...
Starting point is 00:25:03 You know how many dilemmas there? We used to go like... Well, it's the debate, really, isn't it? Yeah, the debate, yeah. Okay, yeah, true. But it depends. It's like Ying and Yang. Some of us solve with violence.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Some of us solve with words. Which team are you? I won't see which ones we are. But anyway, send us your dilemmas at loftin translation at bowermedia.com.com. Or you can send us a WhatsApp, O'dable 7-1-3-9-8-98. That's O'Dable 7, 6103-9-8-98.
Starting point is 00:25:30 As we've said, this week's comes from producer Molly, he isn't with us in person but she's sent over this. This year is my boyfriend's 30th birthday. He never plans anything normally, but he keeps saying he wants to do something for it. I'm a planner. We know Moll.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Moll plans a lot, don't she? I'm a planner, and I've given him all sorts of ideas, but now it's three weeks away and he hasn't sorted anything. I've asked if he wants me to organise anything a few times, but he's said no,
Starting point is 00:25:57 so I've left him to it. The whole thing makes me anxious as we're getting closer and closer do. I just step in and organise something with his feelings. friends. Well, Molly, if I was me, I mean, this is like, can be like a two sides, you know, like it can be like a reverse psychology, female psychology, men's psychology. If I was me and I'm telling you, I don't want anything, I'll do it, just leave it to me,
Starting point is 00:26:20 I'll do it. If I end up not doing it, I don't do anything, and you say to me, oh, well, you don't have surprise or anything because you didn't do it, I'll go, yeah, actually, it's me. Which I think with a woman, if a woman goes like, I would. want to organize something but doesn't do anything, it's because he's telling you that you want you to organize it. And then if you ask them, do you want me to organize?
Starting point is 00:26:41 And they're like, no, no, no, organize it. Because when it gets to the end, and if it's nothing organized, she will be like, you didn't organize anything. Yeah, but you told me to don't. Yeah, but you know how I am. Are you not aiming that at me? I'm not. I'm saying. I was going to say, if I say I don't want it done,
Starting point is 00:26:57 generic female would be like that. Generic female would be like that. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Most of my mates say they don't want Valentine's Day. gifts and then they don't get one and they kick off. And I'm like, what did you expect? You told him you didn't want one. I'll do it. If I was me, if you want to organise something small in case, have it, but I will leave it to it.
Starting point is 00:27:14 What I would do, Moll, I'd just message his mates and say, has he arranged anything yet or not? What, is anything happening? If his mates say no, he's not done anything, then I would just leave it. And then when he comes to him, goes, oh, I can't get in. We can't get in. I'd say, well, because you didn't organise something. You could organise something separate for you two so that you are planning something nice for just the two of you.
Starting point is 00:27:38 True. So then if his 30th with the, you know, if he's planned with mates and everyone else doesn't come through, you can say, do you know what? We're doing this next weekend anyway. I would do that. But also it could be the 30th is a big birthday. You should have a surprise birthday.
Starting point is 00:27:52 Maybe he doesn't like surprise them parties. So he's saying, I'm organized it. Even if he doesn't organize anything because he doesn't want to have the hassle to have a surprise party. Or that makes sense. She could speak to one of his mates. His mates would know, surely.
Starting point is 00:28:05 I'll do, if I was you, or I'll have a surprise party. I'm the same. I do I want to have a party. I don't like parties. I like to organise for people. I don't like people to organise for me. It's the first time in eight years that we and Gawker are going to get our birthdays together this year.
Starting point is 00:28:20 Because normally Gawker's deep in rehearsals for his birthday in September. And then he's in Blackpool for my birthday. So we've never actually, until like really, really late at night, like two in the morning, we've never spent our birthdays together. This is the first time since our relationship. So I've requested to book it off work yesterday. I've got a trip with the boys already for my birthday. Oh, have you?
Starting point is 00:28:45 Yeah, I got away with the boys. Where are you going to go? I'm going to see Jorge Madrid. Nice. Well, I've booked it off, so I'll come with you. I'm joking. Well, you can go with the boys if you want. I know.
Starting point is 00:28:55 I know. I actually are going to go away with you on my birthday. Well, I've booked it off work. Well, I've not had the go ahead. Yeah, I'm waiting for the boss. And in fact, if you don't give it me off, everyone's going to know on this podcast. And I saw my birthday is, my birthday is, which is still warm in Spain. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:12 And I have a place that I want us to go together. The only annoying thing is Mia goes back to school on the second. So she's back in school on the second of September, which is the Wednesday. Yeah. And your birthday is the fourth, which is the Friday. It's fine. So we'll have to just keep her out for three days. I said I want to go away with you, not with the kids.
Starting point is 00:29:32 Okay, but why am I off work from the seventh onwards? Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because my mum goes on holiday on the fifth. Mm-hmm. So, exactly. We're up shit creek with no paddle. So basically, it's no point to have my birthday off. Well, I'm going to have to ask my sister.
Starting point is 00:29:47 I'm going to say, Nina, you love your niece and nephew. Can you have them for three nights? That's the plan. There is a plan in place, Batman. Do you not worry? I'm planning in advance. Like I say, it's the first birthday we're spending. together in eight years.
Starting point is 00:30:03 So I am on it like a carb on it. I'm on to something. I'm just logistically trying to work out geographically what will happen with our offsprings whilst we're... Molly, maybe have a Blanby. Plan Gucks panicking now. Book something for you to, Moll.
Starting point is 00:30:19 Just a nice little surprise for you both. Ask his mates as you've done anything with them. If he's got the ball rolling, fine. If not, if it doesn't come off, you say to him, well, it was your own fault. Plan to fail. No. Fail to plan. Plan to fail. If no, there's always a water spuns around the corner.
Starting point is 00:30:38 You can go there and have a couple of pines, you know, and celebrate the birthday. But thank you, Molly, for getting in touch. Yeah, thank you, Moll for sharing. It would be nice to see you one day here, yeah? Yeah, Moll doesn't come in the studio now. She'll let Henry do it. Yeah. Say hi, hi, hands. Hi, hands. But if you've got any advice for Mollie as well on parties, birthdays, birthdays, surprises, let us know. lost.in.podcast or 0.7610398.98.
Starting point is 00:31:04 And now, the best bit for you, it's the game. Time. Our sponsor today is Whoop, and I honestly wish I had my whoop when Mia was tiny and I was running on about three hours sleep, wondering why I felt like absolute rubbish. And I still feel like rabbi sometimes, but at least now we know why. Whoop tell us what our bodies are really doing. Right? And instead of going, I'm tired.
Starting point is 00:31:34 I don't know why. Maybe it's the weather. It's like having a little coach, a little PT, that actually stays on your arm. Actually, my recovery's been 25% actually, so it's told me not to go into a massive workout. I need to rest. For me, it's about understanding when I can push in training
Starting point is 00:31:48 versus when my body needs rest. Because with dance, tour, the kids, with everything, you think you should always be going full speed. But you can't, that's the thing. And whoop helps you make smarter decisions with your training. Instead of just guessing it, like should I have that extra.
Starting point is 00:32:04 coffee and get an early night, listen to your whoop. It tracks your sleep, strain and recovery. All the things that busy parents never have time to think about it. But probably we should. Exactly. It's like finally understanding your own energy instead of just hoping for the best and wondering why you're knackered by Tuesday. If you want to stop guessing and start understanding what your body actually needs, go to whoop.com. So our producers have given us three categories and we have to come up with together. Why are you laughing now? It's funny how you say it again.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Categories. Say it? Categories. Categories. Anyway. Three categories. Three categories. And we have to come up together with a top five list of to answer them, yeah?
Starting point is 00:32:54 Oh, okay, so you have to work as a team. Yes. So number one is the top five countries cuisine. I don't do that on my own. So this is why we lost in translation. We've just said it's a team. I know. And you say I'll do on my own.
Starting point is 00:33:08 No, I can do that on my own, but if you need to do any help, I know already all of them. Because I was looking at them no longer ago. So the top places to eat worldwide? No, the best country cuisine. So for example, Italian cuisine, Spanish cuisine. So the best, it's definitely not English. No. 100% not English.
Starting point is 00:33:27 English could be in the top 10. I wouldn't say top five. So one is going to be, number one, even if I don't think it is, Italian. Just for the amount of popularity in. It's everywhere, it's Italian. Italian, yeah. Mexican.
Starting point is 00:33:39 Oh, I could smash a Mexican now. I'm not a Mexican in ages. French. No, I'm not a fan of French food. Yeah, but French is good also. Spanish, and I will say maybe Japanese. I was going to say... Those are the top five.
Starting point is 00:33:51 If you Google it, probably I'm right. Yeah, but what, I mean... Do you like French food? What is French food? Just bread? Dracal orange, cremeolet. As if you're actually doing a French accent? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:03 Instead of just saying orange duck. Muscles. Muscles from Brussels So many things They eat snails, don't they Yeah We do also My mom does them
Starting point is 00:34:14 I like bread I like a bit of French bread Yeah I'll eat a pan Should we look how many We go right Google As said
Starting point is 00:34:23 These are the top five Based on Google Italian Mm-hmm Japanese Mexican Thai And Indian
Starting point is 00:34:31 Oh I like Indian Is it for me Indian No God Do you like Indian food You see, I love Indian food. Gorka prefers Chinese food.
Starting point is 00:34:40 I don't like Chinese food at all. So... I like Thai food. We've never had a... We've never had an Indian... We've never gone for an Indian or a Chinese together. He'll go for a Chinese or I'll go for an Indian. But...
Starting point is 00:34:50 For example, I found, like, like, curry is very heavy enough. Thai... Thai... No, no. With coconut, yeah, and... Yeah. It's more aromatic. But I love Thai food.
Starting point is 00:35:01 I like a pat Thai. I love that. But Chinese. And... No. Don't like Chinese food. I'm always thirsty after it. It's too much MSG.
Starting point is 00:35:09 I'm so thirsty after a Chinese. A nice crispy rice or crispy noodles. There is a place and you will be like, really? So in Blackpool, there is this Chinese restaurant that I never expect to have the restaurant in Blackpool. We went there with Carlos because Carlos is friends with the owners because of the competition, yeah? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:28 And when we went there, they have the normal menu and then they have the Chinese menu, which is like traditional Chinese food, yeah? Yeah. We went there. and they made us this lobster rice, no lobster noodles with crispy noodles and an oyster sauce, oh my God.
Starting point is 00:35:44 Is it nice? Nice. We ordered twice. You've not met my uncle Bernard yet, have you? Oh, have you? Have you met Uncle Bernard? No. So my Uncle Bernard is married to a Thai man, Nan.
Starting point is 00:35:53 They've been together for, I think nearly 30-odd years now. And Nan is very much, he loves entertaining. Bernard's not really arse. He's like me. And last time we went round, Nan put a traditional Thai buffet on and he's got a lovely big house in sale he's done, he's an older man now,
Starting point is 00:36:11 he's done really well for themselves though, a really nice couple and so we were all there, this big Thai banquet and obviously there was like loads of food that you would love and I said to him, I said, Nan, I said, can I just have some soup?
Starting point is 00:36:25 And he's like, of course, I'll make you some soup, no props. He made me this massive bowl of soup, he brought it out, it smelled delicious, I was like, oh my gosh, and my Uncle Bernard was there and we're all eating and I had a bit of the soup and I went oh this is nice
Starting point is 00:36:38 I had a bit more as I put the spoon deeper in I thought what the hell's that I lifted it up it was an actual foot of a chicken a foot with a talon with hair
Starting point is 00:36:52 it was like that just right in the middle it was like you know that scene in Indiana Jones the Temple of Doom when she's eating that food at the table oh my gosh
Starting point is 00:37:03 I nearly threw it the bowl because I was so I couldn't I couldn't believe I'd eaten it and it was nice but seeing that and I said to him I said Nan what the hell is this and he said makes the soup nicer he said the fat
Starting point is 00:37:18 from the chicken fought he said it may said do you like the taste and I went yes but I can't eat it now I've seen that but it was just anything he said we don't waste anything and he said to me said if a chicken's been killed for a chicken why I'm just going to have the breast he said we eat everything he even had the beak.
Starting point is 00:37:35 Yeah. Yeah. My mom loves the neck. Yeah. He said we don't waste our food. And when he said that,
Starting point is 00:37:41 I thought, you know what? That is fair enough. And where he grew up in Thailand, he lived in Thailand for the first 20 years of his life, he was like, that's just what we did.
Starting point is 00:37:48 And I thought, you know, I get that. Yeah. But then I went home, and as soon as I got home, I was like putting burnt-eye potato waffles in the to eat
Starting point is 00:37:55 at like half nine at nights. I'm starving. I'm eating some of quick. Also, have you noticed? We spent the whole episode talking about food. I know.
Starting point is 00:38:04 Top five things about the UK. Gemma Hickinson. Therefore not the weather? The top five things? I would say, it's got to be the sport, no, the football. Can I just let you do this ones? Because I will be the top five things about the UK,
Starting point is 00:38:23 but it will be all the five negative things. Well, I'm trying to think about it's not, it's definitely not going to be the weather. I would say like... Not the weather, not the food, not the roads. they are not I would say the people but the scenery in the UK
Starting point is 00:38:37 if you go to places like like the Yorkshire Dales you know Cornwall the scenery the peace in the Scotland yeah the scenery in the UK the Monrose if you go somewhere nice
Starting point is 00:38:49 it's beautiful don't get me wrong with a nice weather is a beautiful country English country British English or British the English countryside the English countryside
Starting point is 00:38:57 yeah on a nice weather it's stunning some people say as well the pubs Sunday dinners a pub. My favourite my favourite things when I came to the UK
Starting point is 00:39:05 was a brunch during the summer days and then I love a Sunday roast. There's lots... I'll give you that. I love a bloody sandy roast with a lot of potatoes and how you call it
Starting point is 00:39:17 and gravy. There's lots of like history in the UK. Yeah. If you went to like Edinburgh Castle Stonehenge stuff like that I would say
Starting point is 00:39:27 and there's lots of lovely walks and hikes. David Bowie, Beatles, you know. Oasis Spice Girls Spice girls Spice girls
Starting point is 00:39:36 Beatles Oasis Take that Take that Oh But the kinks British No
Starting point is 00:39:41 The kinks I think they were from the UK That girl You really got me now Queen You got me yeah If you're About Queen
Starting point is 00:39:50 Freddy Mercury The kinks were British I used to love the kings There you go Yeah Some music Mercury Pop culture
Starting point is 00:39:56 We've got good We've got good libraries Across the UK Pop culture History culture of many years pubs English countryside
Starting point is 00:40:06 Sand the Rose and the countryside and the countryside in summer and Gemer Atkinson do you know what Google said What does Google say Google doesn't say Gemma Atkinson Oh Google says
Starting point is 00:40:17 Rich history and landmarks World Class culture The pub culture stunning countryside and the melting pot of different foods Oh So the food team
Starting point is 00:40:29 So I was right about everything Pretty much Apart from the food Not the British food. No, but like we've got Chinese food. How we've got loads of different cuisines. Yeah, from all the people that lives in this country. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:39 Makes sense. Multicultural foods, I guess. Oh, I did all right with that, didn't I? Are you shocked, gawks? Or not really. Sorry? Are you shocked that I did okay with that? Yeah, very good.
Starting point is 00:40:49 He's like, yeah, very good, next one. Top five things to look for in a partner. Sense of humour has to be top for me. Looks are going to fade. You're both going to get old if you're lucky enough. So you've got to have the sense of humour. what else they've got to be trustworthy
Starting point is 00:41:04 yeah if there's no trust there's nothing and they say don't they was it was lady garga when Beyonce says to a trust is like a mirror
Starting point is 00:41:14 you can fix it if it's broken and she says yeah but you'll still see the cracks in that mother there's reflection so sense of humour loyalty and trust
Starting point is 00:41:25 communication you have to both be able to communicate if one of yours is on happy or if you're unsettled. What else? It's really difficult. Three.
Starting point is 00:41:38 That three ones is good. Yeah. I mean, you've got to have some, you've got to be attracted to them physically. Yeah. Like, I know looks fade, but the initial... Physical attraction, yeah. Physical attraction is a big thing.
Starting point is 00:41:52 But I think the attraction goes more physically, you know what I mean? Sometimes the things that you do make you be more attractive, you know what I mean? Oh, yeah. So, for example, like the, if you care, organize things like that, what makes you even be like, you know what I mean? Yeah. Like,
Starting point is 00:42:03 for example, me seeing you with the kids. Yeah. It's very attractive, you know what else? Good morals, I guess. And it's things like
Starting point is 00:42:12 you'd want someone who's on a similar path in terms of where you see yourself in 10 years. Or like self, how you mean, not self-efficient, not self-dependent, meaning like sometimes
Starting point is 00:42:26 you don't feel like you're with someone because both want to be together, not because it's dependent. Because sometimes you're not co-de-becience. When you feel like someone depends on you, you feel like, oh, you're what I mean? Yeah, like you feel like you're trapped. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:36 Like, I always say to Gorka, like, if ever any of us, touch would, we never do. But if any of any of us wanted to walk, it's cruel to not do it. It's like if I was staying with Gorka because I felt bad on him, if I left, it's cruel in the long run. Like, you've got to rip that band-aid off because I think staying with someone just because you feel bad. is just really snide on them. Plus, it's a waste of your... It's a waste of your time. Because if you mentally check out anyway,
Starting point is 00:43:07 do you know what I will say, though? And again, I was listening to a podcast and speaking to the girls about this. So it was the highest day for divorce rates, I think, in February. I think there's a date when most people get divorced on this day. And it was mostly women who filed for divorce. And out of all the women who filed for divorce,
Starting point is 00:43:27 it was something like 88% of them had mentally made the decision to leave in the December. They just stayed because it was the Christmas period and they had families and they didn't want to upset the kids and this and that. But most, they say if it's a woman who ends a relationship, not everyone, but typically she ended it mentally at least four months ago. And it's true. I mean, the girls were thinking back going, oh my God, it is.
Starting point is 00:43:52 Like when you break up with someone, like a guy can just maybe decide I'm done on a Wednesday, I'm ending it on Friday. If a woman breaks up with you, normally she mentally made that decision months ago but she's just getting a ducks in a row going over it again and again and again. And it's the difference in a men's brain and a woman's brain whereby...
Starting point is 00:44:12 Yeah, yeah. You're thinking about it. Yeah, women think of things after the event. So you'd be thinking, oh gosh, but we've got kids or we've got this and we've got this house and we've got... Whereas men will just think, oh, just do it. It's like the same with a pipe.
Starting point is 00:44:26 A woman would think of the consequence after. You know, like if you were there and then you thought, right, let's do it, no one will find out. A man would be like, okay. But a woman would go, oh no, because afterwards, I've got to do this and I've got to look him in the eye and I've got the kids and I've got,
Starting point is 00:44:41 it's a snowball effect. It was a really interesting podcast about how the brain works. Again, not everyone, if you're a guy listening to this thinking, I've been thinking of breaking up for months and you've not yet done it, use this as a chance to do it. Use this pod. But it was really interesting. how the brains work.
Starting point is 00:44:58 Yeah, different psychologists. Yeah. Men are just there, done, as we take ages to think about stuff. And then end up probably not doing it because you think of the remorse after. Sometimes it's better to think like a dude. Like Jesse Jay said, do it like a dude.
Starting point is 00:45:12 Not every man is the same. No, that's what I'm saying. Not every woman's the same. But yeah, that would be my top five things in a partner. And, yeah, just someone you can have a laugh with. And I think he's on the same plan. Like I think to myself, in 10 years, Meo's going to be 16, which breaks my art, I can't bear it.
Starting point is 00:45:30 So then in like another 10 years, in 20 years, we're going to have a 26-year-old and a 22-year-old. And so I think, if someone said to me, where do you see yourself in 20 years with Gorker? It's the kids have probably moved out, maybe, or if not. Wait, 20 years? Yeah. So you will be 60.
Starting point is 00:45:50 60? 61. Chris Jenner in. I'll be Chris Jenner. I'll be, don't worry about it. 53. I'm still in peak time. Yeah, we're still...
Starting point is 00:45:58 You're almost about to be near retirement home. You'll be peak. I'll be Christiana. So in my head, I'm thinking, kids are either moved out or if they're not moved out, they're able to stay at home on their own. We're going on a lovely travel holiday somewhere,
Starting point is 00:46:11 going away for three weeks, Spain, wherever, little beach house, coffees, morning walks. That's genuinely what I see for us in the future when someone said. And I think if your partner doesn't see similar, you've got to make sure you're both on the same
Starting point is 00:46:27 nice, same path imagine if you went, I don't see that I see you in a care home and me piping 40 year olds Oh gosh That's all we've got time for Thankfully We got deep this week
Starting point is 00:46:41 Didn't we? That was a different ep Thank you all for getting in touch though Thank you for your dilemmas For your voice notes Thank you for your ears on this pod It's really lovely So please do leave us a review
