Hey everyone, welcome to another Foundations Friday episode 6, Do The Thing.
Do The Thing, what does that mean? That means get out there and try something.
I watched the movie West No More, which follows Ben Jenkins and Aaron Klass,
who hike the Colorado Trail, or at least a couple hundred miles out of the 500 miles of the trail,
and they do so wearing 1860s clothes
and using gear from the 1860s at the end of that one of them talks about doing the thing getting
out there whether you fail or succeed but try getting up in the morning try and do that first
push-up if you can or go for that that walk, walk that half mile, get into the difficult project,
respond to the incident, do the thing, be involved, work hard, and get after it.
I think we all have times in our lives where we're nervous to push ourselves or not sure if we should
go for that job or wonder if we should study and get that credential, just do the thing. Are we not ready physically to do these big
monstrous workouts we see on TV and everyone says, oh, you got to do this to get in shape or get
healthier. Do the thing. Eat a salad. Eat a little bit less of something. Try your first push-up. Try your first walk.
Learn something new. Try an intro class at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Put your idea out there
in a business meeting. Do the thing. I think it's a great statement that we should all keep in mind
when we're nervous about something, when maybe we're scared to try something that won't be perfect,
or maybe when
we've been doing the same thing for a while and we want to change or need to just do the thing
to keep going, to keep ourselves and our families and those around us going and moving forward.
My best to all of you. I hope you're staying safe out there. Wash those hands and Godspeed.
