Hey everybody, thanks for coming to the KevTalks podcast.
I just flew in and boy, are my arms tired.
Whew, glad I flew in in time for Factful Friday.
Here we go.
I'm going to read quotes, data, and positive things on Fridays to help start your day,
as opposed to the negative, nonsensical news that we hear all the time, all over the media.
So I'm going to start with one about how much of a miracle human life is.
This is from Dr. Ali Benazir, and it was in an article on HuffPost.com, and it's been
out for a little bit.
It's been out since 2011, but I shared it on Twitter, quoted it, and actually Dr. Benazir mentioned.
In fact, I'm going to click follow and follow him right now.
But it's pretty awesome.
So here we go.
So what's the probability of your being born?
It's the probability of 2.5 million people getting together each to play a game of dice with trillion-sided dice.
They each roll the dice, and they all come up the exact same number.
Let's say 550,343,279,001.
That's pretty amazing, right?
And I bring this up, one, because that's just cool math.
He did some math
in there. You'll see it again. I'll link to it. It's, are you a miracle on the probability of
you being born as the name of the article from the Huffington post. But I've seen, especially
on Reddit and some of the mental health subreddits about people that are in such a bad place that
they don't want to be here anymore, that they wish they wouldn't hurt somebody by
taking their life. And that's very, very sad to me. I've been down, I've been depressed, anxious,
suffer with post-traumatic stress. I've felt really bad about myself as well.
But to read that, and I've read it more than once, pretty often this week. And so I thought,
Dr. Benazir's pretty cool math to show us like how
amazing our life is. It doesn't fix it. I get it, right? Positivity on the nose doesn't always bring
people out of depression or anything like that. But, you know, just to give those folks and you
all listening and myself again, a reminder of how much of a miracle we are. So how much of an
opportunity we have to take advantage of this
life. So please take advantage of your life. Don't give it away. Don't throw it away. Don't
leave those wondering why you took your own life. And if you're depressed and you're listening to
this, there's help out there. There's many online therapy sessions. There's in-person. There's your
community service boards, all these different resources. And if you have questions, I'm not a therapist, I'm not licensed. I can share what's worked for me. You can message
me on Facebook. KevTalksPod is the site there. Instagram at Pennell, P-A-N-N-E-L-L-K-G. I'm on
Reddit at KevTalksPod. Twitter's at PennellKG as well. And again, the email is KevTalks1120 at gmail.com.
The 1120 is the date that I got my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt.
So KevTalks at Gmail wasn't available.
So that's the little backstory there.
But reach out to me.
I can share what I've done, what I know, resources, things that worked for me, books that I've
read, discussions I've had with my counselors, therapists, and things.
But there's help out there. And just remember how much of a miracle we are. Two and a half
million people getting together each to play a game of dice with trillion-sided dice. And the
dice came up with you being born, being in this world, being a light.
Don't let your light out.
Keep it shining bright.
Thank you so much for coming here to the KevTalks podcast on this fact-filled Friday.
I hope you have a great day today, this weekend, and I'll see you next time.
Remember, have a plan, stay informed, get involved, and now I got to fly.
