Sometimes we don't need to push through. Sometimes we need to take that leave, take a walk or take that nap and give our selves a break....

Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to Foundations Friday, episode 51. If you feel you need a rest, take it. This is probably contrary to motivational speeches and pump-up jams and whatever that a lot of us hear. Just push through. Just work harder. Just keep going. Get up and get after it. And I subscribe to that. But sometimes our get up and get after it needs a break. This week, I lost a family member. I had another one had a major surgery. My son was sick and my dishwasher broke. It's brand new.
Starting point is 00:00:33 And I realized, you know what? Could I get on those calls? Could I do this work? Probably. Would I be effective? Would it be good for my mental health? No. So I took the time off.
Starting point is 00:00:45 I didn't go to a jiu-jitsu class. I went for a walk. I did stretches, more yoga this week to kind of chill out. And I did some other, you know, weight training. And I don't say that to just give you my life story. But to reflect on yourselves, if you're burnt out, we've all been through so much. Things are changing now. I feel for the better. But right now, we're going to each have to adjust how we're comfortable with
Starting point is 00:01:10 ourselves, with our kids, with society, going out, mask, no mask, boosted, blah, blah, blah. Who's telling the truth politics-wise? Well, just get away from that for a little bit. Get away from work if you can. Take that leave. That's why we get paid time off. And we don't always have to push off and we don't always have to push through we don't always have to just grind i think has it gotten our nation to a place where just we have amazing technology and things we can do i mean the past two years have been pretty bad but the order things delivered to your house or curbside, I mean, the technology that we have to do that is amazing. So sometimes it's good to not use all the technology, to disconnect from it, to do a stretch day, a yoga day, to stay home, to walk around, to take naps, to cry, to let it out.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Get that breath. Get your mind set back. If you need to, talk to somebody. Listen to a meditation podcast and just give yourself that break.
