Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to Foundations Friday, episode 41, Pick the Right Tool for the Job. This comes from a snippet from People Process Progress, episode 92, The Successful Project Manager, the interview I did with Donna Gregorio, and really speaking of, you know, in the project management world, especially kind of officially in the project management body of knowledge. And even in other references, there's 75, 100, so many different tools, tips, techniques that are studied or could be used. But really when it comes down to it, just like Donna said, there's probably half a dozen that we use a lot. Similar for incident management, emergency management, special event planning.
Starting point is 00:00:42 There's so many things that are in the textbook that we learn of that are in our document library electronically or hard copy. But when things are really going crazy for a response or like a missing person, a real incident kind of thing, you only need a handful of things. You need those foundational five I truly believe in, right? Make sure you have the intent, those objectives and org chart resources in your communicating. And then documentation wise, really the most important thing is documenting and tracking where are the people, right? Are they safe? What are the safety concerns, objectives, you know, those kinds of things, big laminated boards, those, you know, that, and for projects, similar information, right? What's our overall objectives? How many of these devices are we sending where or when, you know, what's the schedule? So there's a handful of things and
Starting point is 00:01:30 tools and techniques. And like Donna mentioned, journey maps and work breakdown structure and org chart, you know, with work assignments and some other things. So one thing, you know, I thought about and that I use still is, you know, some of the incident management tools and techniques that I use in project management. It's a way to help us bring people together quickly, like a tactics meeting, to talk about what resources do we need, where do we need them, when do we need them, let's get them on a calendar, a schedule, a deployment plan, something, and pull those together. Just sharing a reminder. Hopefully, you go back and listen to that episode 92. It was a really
