Hey everyone, welcome to Foundations Friday 18.
Salvation is real.
On my way back from a tough Brazilian Jiu Jitsu session this morning,
had a little salvation of my own from a bad performance the other day,
from not pushing myself hard enough, from giving up, from gassing out.
Maybe when you saw the title of this, you thought it was a religious episode, Foundations
Friday.
And it could be.
There's certainly many folks that believe and have been saved or believe in salvation
from whatever deity they believe in.
Or maybe you're on a project and things are turning red.
They're critical.
They're not going well.
You're losing folks.
Your schedule's getting pushed.
But there is salvation there somewhere.
There's a way.
There's a way to get more people to compress the schedule,
to not hold yourself to 100% unattainable test percentage
or whatever you're trying to do.
Or maybe you've been sitting around
not taking advantage of the time we've all had at home,
eating chips, not exercising.
I'm not the only one to say this message,
but I can say this because I did that years ago.
I ate horribly.
I was in public safety.
Long days, you'd go out and get crappy food.
And if you're in public safety and doing that,
there is salvation.
There's salvation for better food, better health that will make the job better, make the rest of your life better.
That exercise I talk about, you know, someone I'm a big fan of, Jocko Willink and many other successful people getting up early and exercising, some kind of activity.
There's salvation for your health, for your mental health, for your physical health, for your spiritual health.
And now is a fantastic time.
Things are opening up.
The weather's getting better generally in America.
And I would imagine in other areas as we get through spring and in towards summer.
So what does your salvation look like?
Mine looks like trying to go to bed at a more reasonable time in a night owl.
That's one of my Achilles heels. Staying better hydrated, eating a little better,
keeping up with my program, with my jiu-jitsu. Spending more time with my kids. I saw a great
post by Ryan Mickler from Order of Man about work-life balance. It's not a 50-50. You wax
and wane. You compromise, like I talked about
a few Foundation Fridays ago, compromise is key. You compromise with yourself and with your job
and with your kids and your family. So I hope today on this Foundation's Friday 18th Salvation
is Real that you find the motivation to salvage whatever part of your life you think you need to improve and just take
that step toward improving it.
I thank you all so much for listening to the podcast,
visiting the website website.
Really enjoyed the last episode with Andrew Smith and Daniel Frank talking
about their book,
the wit and wisdom of the little gym that could have revolution BJJ and
Richmond.
And I'm really loving where I'm training again here
and Team Man and BJJ. I thank you all so much. Stay safe out there. Wash your hands and Godspeed.
