Starting point is 00:00:00 It's time to lace up, chalk up, get logged in, and get locked on to the KevTalks podcast. Now let's get to this episode in 3, 2, 1. Welcome to Foundations Friday 89. There's always opportunity for rebirth. I'm inspired by the Easter holiday, by Passover, by the opportunity to always change who we are, whether it's our health, our fitness, our job, our skill sets, how we act towards ourselves, towards others, what we're doing within a project, within a program, on a deployment, as an incident management team, as a responder. If we're burned out, there's always opportunity. And I think this holiday week on this Good Friday,
Starting point is 00:00:48 that there's always opportunity to reflect on what sacrifices am I making for others? Am I making the right sacrifices, the best choices? And not necessarily in a holy manner, but just in a right practical manner. And that can be true for you when you're leading a project or a program, right? Are we making the right choices? Is there opportunity to pause and have sort of a rebirth, right, of how we're doing this, how we're having our meetings, how we're following tasks, who's doing what assignments, do we need more help? There's always opportunity for rebirth and a refresh of what we're doing. And then outside of work, do I have opportunity to get up and walk around more? Do I have opportunity to focus on my sleep more?
Starting point is 00:01:30 To talk to somebody if I need to? To eat better? There's so many opportunities because we're not guaranteed to be here tomorrow, to be in our jobs tomorrow, depending on the market. And so if we keep those at the front of our mind, which is a theme this week, I know that I've studied and what I believe in of just the unknown. And honestly, that's something that scares me, right? The unknown about employment and about life. But it's also something that if we keep in front of us and think about, am I doing the best that I can for myself, for my family, for those around me, and in this job, and for others, and for this effort? And then if we're not, just think, okay, well, what do I need to change?
Starting point is 00:02:13 And if we need help and don't know, to ask others that do. Or look at resources, read books, look online. Okay, take that look online thing with a grain of salt. Make sure you cross-check, like I've said, and say as part of my closing, go with facts, not just fear or rumors. And it's hard to tease those out sometimes online and social media. But this year, this Easter, this Passover, whatever you believe in, whatever you follow, think of it as a rebirth opportunity, kind of like a lot of folks look at New Year's, right? They make New Year's resolutions. Well, I'm going to use this Easter as a catalyst to keep looking at how can I do better
Starting point is 00:02:50 in every aspect of my life. And I think it's just a good consideration for us to look at ahead of time and understand that, you know, you may not have that opportunity. So I thank you for taking the opportunity to listen to this. Foundation's Friday 89, that there's always opportunity for rebirth, for looking at how we can do better, build on the things we're doing well and stop doing or improve on the things we're not. So I'll continue to try and improve. Got some interviews lined up with some pretty compelling folks. More solo episodes, of course. And I thank you all for being here, for being part of my plan, for keeping me informed with facts, not just fear, and for getting involved.
