Starting point is 00:00:00 For me, and maybe for you out there, Christmas feels different, emptier somehow. It's been almost a year since my dad died, and while the grief is soft and the ache of his absence still lingers, the holidays, once a time of joy and togetherness, have a bittersweet weight. We love who we're with, but we're sad for who's not here. This year, though, I'm trying to find a way to honor my dad and acknowledge the pain, and perhaps find some peace and share some of that with you. So I wrote a poem, When You Miss Someone at Christmas, and I'd like to share it with you all.
Starting point is 00:00:30 When you miss someone at Christmas. When you miss someone at Christmas, remember who they are. Keep their memory alive in your heart and mind, and they'll never be very far. Let the tears flow down your cheeks and laugh to memories while you cry. Be thankful for the time you had with them and with those all around you now. For it is the miracle of Christmas when Jesus Christ was born. It is the time to celebrate the miracle of God and not simply to mourn. We will miss you around the table and while opening presents too.
Starting point is 00:00:59 And most importantly, we will be forever thankful for the time we had with you. Sharing this poem is kind of part of my journey of healing over the past year or so and almost here, I guess. And it's been a way to process my grief and hopefully offer some comfort to you all who are missing loved ones at Christmas. And grief is a unique thing, right? It's a very personal experience. There's no right or wrong way. Just know that you're not alone, right? And
Starting point is 00:01:25 I hope the memories of your loved ones bring you peace and warmth this holiday season. And may the light of their love continue to shine in you always. And we honor them. And thank you so much for taking a few minutes here with me today on this Christmas 2024. Godspeed, y'all.
