Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey everybody, welcome to Foundations Friday 95. Your title shouldn't make you feel entitled. I was reminded of this as I talked to Travis Model of the Elbow's Tight podcast, who's a fellow Navy veteran, podcaster, jujitsu player, father, husband, all that good stuff. And we talked about a story when we were young leaders and for him making a high leadership role in the U.S. Navy at a young age and it didn't really affect him and me, my example, honestly, where I did let it affect me, where my title made me feel entitled. And that's something throughout the years that I learned from that mistake. I had to write a paper and learn about it and realize, man, I really screwed up. And the person was my friend when I kind of got on him a little bit too much for messing up information there. So throughout the decade since then, I've learned I may earn a title that empowers me to make decisions. But what it really
Starting point is 00:00:50 empowers me to do is get resources for people and move obstacles and help resolve issues and share my experience, right? Not necessarily my opinion, but also my opinion sometimes. But the key is to not feel entitled just because we have a title or a rank or a position. And I've been fortunate over the past few years to work with some great leaders at the highest levels of healthcare and IT and previously in public safety in my time in the Navy. And they were great examples for me that I'm glad to learn from and hopefully share this bit of a reminder with you all as I was reminded too. So please check out the KevTalks podcast, Elbows Tight with Travis Model. Good conversation. I just had a great talk with Rob
Starting point is 00:01:30 from the McDojo Life show and I chuckled just because I think of the videos that come up. But we had a great talk, almost two hours. That'll be coming out next week. Really good conversation. Anything from Operation Smile that helps Smile and Cleft challenge folks, get surgeries for almost no cost for super discounted prices, and that helped Rob when he was younger, and also how one person can make a difference like it did for Rob and then look at the global phenomenon in McDojo life and is going to be even more with some work that he's got coming up. And listen to that episode to hear a bit more.
