And yes, it's a little bit of a late upload, so let's call it the PDB early evening bulletin at this point. All right, let's get briefed. First up, Director of National Intelligence, the DNI, Tulsi Gabbard, declassifies a House intelligence report suggesting

that Russian intelligence sat on damaging information regarding Hillary Clinton's health, the head of the 2016 presidential election, possibly calculating that the former Secretary of State would defeat Donald Trump in that election. Later in the show, a month's long standoff over the disputed Thai-Cambodia border erupted into violence on Tuesday, leading to a deadly exchange of military fire that left at least a dozen dead and dozens more wounded. We'll have those details. But first, today's afternoon spotlight. We'll begin in the U.S., where Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has dropped another bombshell regarding the 2016 presidential election and efforts by the former Obama administration to reportedly suppress critical intelligence. On Wednesday, Gabbert declassified a

report prepared by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence back in September 2020, which revealed the intelligence community had no direct information that Russia wanted to help Donald Trump defeat former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the contentious race. Despite the lack of any hard evidence, the report found that after Trump's 2016 victory at the somewhat unusual direction of then-President Barack Obama, senior intelligence officials hastily published, quote, information that was unclear of uncertain origin, potentially biased, or implausible, suggesting that the Russians were aiding the Trump campaign. In fact, the House Intelligence Committee report found that Russian strongman Vladimir Putin was likely planning for a Clinton

victory because, quote, they knew where she stood and believed Russia, quote, could work with her. That calculus may explain some other rather astounding revelations from the newly declassified report, namely that Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service, the SVR, supposedly obtained highly damaging information about Clinton's health ahead of the 2016 election, but chose not to release it publicly. That intelligence included evidence, reportedly, that Clinton was suffering from intense, quote, psycho-emotional problems that she was treating with powerful sedatives. According to the report, Russia's SVR possessed DNC communications, detailing Clinton's condition, which included, quote, uncontrolled fits of anger,

aggression, and cheerfulness. Additionally, Clinton was reportedly suffering from a litany of other ailments, including type 2 diabetes, ischemic heart disease, deep vein thrombosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The report states, quote, Clinton was placed on a daily regimen of heavy tranquilizers, and while afraid of losing, she remained, quote, obsessed with a thirst for power. By September 2016, the internal communications show that Democratic National Committee leaders

and then President Obama found the state of Clinton's health and use of tranquilizers to be, quote, extraordinarily alarming. They worried it could have a, quote, serious negative impact on the presidential race. That's according to the New York Post. But the report notes that, quote, her health information was being kept in strict a secrecy and even close advisors were not being fully informed. In addition to Clinton's health, Russia's SVR also had campaign emails discussing a plan approved by Clinton to link Putin and Russian hackers to then-candidate Trump in order to, quote, distract the American public from the Clinton email server scandal.

You remember that one. The compromising intelligence on Clinton was reportedly obtained by Putin through Russian hacking operations, targeting the Clinton campaign and the DNC. Some of those emails were later published by WikiLeaks, though they did not contain the sensitive information regarding Clinton's health. Given the political ammunition at their disposal, the report concluded that, quote, documents leaked during the election were far less damaging to Secretary Clinton than those that Putin chose not to leak. We should note that the Alice Intelligence Committee report was based on interviews with

20 intelligence officers and FBI agents, as well as a review of source material used in the Obama-ordered intelligence assessment on Russian interference that was released in January of 2017. Until Wednesday, that House report had remained highly classified and was being stored in a limited access vault at CIA headquarters. During a press conference at the White House on Wednesday, gabard said that despite the available intelligence, which showed Putin did not favor Trump in the election, then President Obama direct. directed his intelligence chiefs to compile a new assessment detailing Trump's supposed links to Russia. That new intelligence assessment was released on the 6th of January, 2017,

just two weeks before Trump would be sworn into office for his first term. Gabbard noted that then-CIA director John Brennan pushed for the inclusion of information in the assessment that was known to be manufactured or deemed not credible, such as the, of course, infamous steel dossier, while suppressing or ignoring or ignoring, other pertinent intelligence. Gabbert said, quote, Brennan and the intelligence community mischaracterized intelligence and relied on dubious substandard sources to create a contrived false narrative that Putin developed a clear preference for Trump. As we discussed earlier this week, Gabbard recently declassified a trove of documents, alleging that Obama and his national security

team purposefully manufactured and politicized intelligence to establish the Trump-Russia collusion narrative after the 2016 election. Gabbert argues the scheme was used to delegitimize President Trump's victory, leading to the years-long Mueller investigation to congressional impeachments and high-level officials being investigated, arrested, and jailed. Gabbert has accused the former Obama administration of engaging in a, quote, coup against Trump, characterizing their actions as an egregious abuse of power and a, quote, treasonous conspiracy. On Wednesday, Gabbert formally confirmed that she's referred to. former President Obama, along with several top aides and national security officials,

to the Department of Justice for potential criminal prosecution. All right, up next. A long simmering border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia erupted into its deadliest fighting in over a decade Thursday as a Thai F-16 fighter jet bombed Cambodian territory amid clashes that left at least a dozen dead and dozens more wounded. According to the Thai F-16 fighter jet, as a time, military, one of six F-16s deployed along the frontier, dropped ordinance on a Cambodian military position. Cambodia called the strike, quote, reckless and brutal military aggression. The airstrike

came after Thai authorities, shut down the border, and launched artillery in response to what they claim was Cambodian shelling that killed 11 civilians and a Thai soldier. The fighting broke out near the Tamontom Temple, that's an ancient site that sits in the middle of about a 5008-mile stretch of undemarcated border terrain, pocked with landmines and tangled colonial history. Scirmishes over who owns what are nothing new there. The last major flare-up came back in 2011 and lasted for about a week. It ended with a dozen dead and obviously nothing resolved. That same script is playing out again with one major change. Thursday marked the first time that Thailand's Air Force has been engaged. The roots of the dispute traced back to the Indochina era, when

French-drawn maps left large stretches of the border area undefined. Now, neither side has ever fully accepted the other's version of the map, and both have kept troops stationed along the frontier ever since. But this conflict, this time, is somewhat different. The airstrike signals a sharp escalation, capping weeks of mounting tension since May, when a Cambodian soldier was killed in a brief exchange that triggered a diplomatic standoff and tit-for-tat expulsions. In the border province of Surin, where the clashes have been concentrated, local officials said some 40,000 civilians have been evacuated from 86 villages. Thai authorities accused Cambodian rockets of striking civilian infrastructure Thursday, including a hospital, an act that Surin District Chief labeled a war crime.

Thailand's health minister reported that 24 civilians and seven soldiers have been injured in the fighting. Thailand also claims Cambodian troops equipped with rocket launchers crossed into the contested border area near the temple after deploying surveillance drones. On Wednesday, Thailand recalled his ambassador from the Cambodian capital of Phnom Pen and expelled the country's envoy from Bangkok after a Thai soldier lost a leg to a landmine earlier in the week. Bangkok alleges that the landmines were recently planted by Cambodian forces. Cambodia, however, denies the charge claiming the explosion was likely caused by unexploded ordinance from its civil war decades ago. Now, that could be,

very likely, given that Cambodia remains one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. Still, Thailand's acting prime minister called the situation, quote, delicate, and that would be about right, and pledged to adhere to international law. Cambodians' foreign ministry demands the immediate withdrawal of Thai forces from the disputed region. And the international responses came very quickly. Malaysia, which holds the rotating chair of ASEAN, pledged to mediate and said its prime minister would speak with both leaders. And China said it was, quote, willing to play a role in promoting de-escalation. That's a signal of its growing regional leverage, or its desire to have growing regional leverage.
