Starting point is 00:00:03 It's April 6th. You're listening to the President's Daily Brief. I'm your host, Brian Dean Wright. Your morning intel starts now. On this morning's brief, we're covering the following. First, the ongoing saga of Hunter Biden. You're paying for his protection on the beaches of Malibu in case you didn't know. You won't believe how much that's costing you. Next, more bad news on inflation, I'm sorry to say. You're going to pay more for wheat, oil, and gas. I'll explain why. and what you can do to soften the blow. Third, we have the results of a focus group of Democrat voters, and they are not happy, especially about crime rates. We'll unpack that story. Fourth, the war in Ukraine grinds on for yet another day.
Starting point is 00:00:49 I'll provide an update on the latest. Finally, looking for cash? If you're a resident of Palm Springs, there's a program for you. One catch, you have to be transgender or non-binary. Oh, dear. All ahead on the PDB. First up, Joe Biden's son, Hunter, once again commanding attention and once again for all the wrong reasons. This time is because of the Secret Service protection provided to Hunter and his wife.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Now, like all first family members, Hunter is entitled to special security services. But here's the problem. Hunter lives in Malibu, California, one of the most expensive real estate markets in the country. This morning we have fresh reporting showing that the Secret Service is paying, and listen to this, $30,000 a month to house Hunter Biden's security detail. That's on top of two more houses rented to protect his father, Joe Biden, when he vacations at his two homes in Wilmington and Roebuth Beach, Delaware, which has cost taxpayers millions. So why should you care about this?
Starting point is 00:01:57 Well, Joe Biden has said that we must all sacrifice, notably for Ukraine. The question is, how is he sacrificing? What are the sacrifices that he and his son and their families are making to help Ukraine? The truth is none. They're making no sacrifices. They're living in Malibu, and, as I understand it, painting with their fingers. Meanwhile, the rest of us are facing food shortages. And if you joined us on Monday, you know a few things. First, the people running out of money between paychecks. And economists are predicting you're going to have to find an extra $5,000 this year to compensate for inflation. The bottom line? Folks, you shouldn't have to pay for Hunter's privilege.
Starting point is 00:02:45 It's not fair. It's not right. And we all know it. Own it all. Pay off your home. Travel for life. Drive a Ferrari. In celebration of the world premiere of the Monopoly Big Board Buckslot Machine by a

Next up, some painful numbers out this morning on inflation. The price of wheat is set to increase more than we expected. The reason U.S. crops are coming out of the winter in very bad shape.
Starting point is 00:03:59 bad shape. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is reporting that only 30% of U.S. winter wheat is in good or excellent shape. That compares to a much higher 53% last year, obviously a drop of 23%. The reasons for the drop are several, but the outcome is the same. We're looking at the worst American winter wheat crop in over 25 years. Meanwhile, more bad news on the oil and gas front, Saudi Arabia announced that it's increasing the price of the oil it sells, adding $2.20 a barrel premium for U.S. buyers, and, yikes, $4.40 premium to Asian buyers. Why? Well, because it can. The longer answer is this. The less supply that the world has from Russia means that we have to go to people like Saudi Arabia to buy what they have. In other words, the oil cartel has us over a barrel, as it were.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Meanwhile, other oil producers like Kuwait and Iraq are expected to match Saudi Arabia's price hikes in the coming days, putting even more upward pressure on oil and gas prices in the weeks to come. So why does this matter to you? Obviously, folks, inflation is going to get worse. The question is how to weather this storm. If you followed me on Monday, you'll recall we talked about time-tested strategies to soften the blow. For instance, ask your landlord to lower the rent for a couple of months. Or second, ask for a raise at work, aim for about $400 a month to tackle the expected inflation costs. Now, that's a lot. And if you think that you can't start looking for a new job, specifically leaning on your relationships at church or social organizations to see if they know better paying jobs. And if you don't belong to a church or House of Worship, or let's say you're a veteran and you haven't joined the VFW or the American Legion, do it. Social networks, and I'm mean the real ones, not Facebook, are going to help all of us through this.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Choice Hotels gets you more of what you value. Comfort in, it's calling your name. Save on the stay. Oh, and free waffles are yours to claim. Book direct at storeshills.com. Our third story this morning is about a party in disarray. Joe Biden and the Democrats often speak about their tough on crime approach to governing, but a Democrat focus group of Democrats. voters say they're not buying it. The Democrat Consultancy Group, HIT Strategies, released their findings yesterday that, well, Democrats are hopping mad about many things in Joe Biden's America, most especially rising crime. One participant, a black man from New York, complained about
Starting point is 00:06:44 bail reform laws in his state, which he said are leading to repeat offenders who are getting arrested, released, and are then re-arrested in less than 24 hours. Another participant, A black woman in the Philadelphia area expressed her alarm at gun violence and carjackings in the city by the same kinds of repeat offenders. Now, both of those individuals are right, of course. Violent crime is at record levels across this country. The data are very clear about that. But it's curious, isn't it, that Democrats are so angry about crime, the party faithful are so upset, yet so many have championed the defund the police movements and abolish the the police movements. They've also passed bail reform over the past several years that put more criminals right back on the streets. So the upshot, from my view, is this. Sometimes we reap what we sow.
Starting point is 00:07:38 In this case, I don't say that with joy. I live in a city, and maybe you do too. We are all living in an urban America that's a laboratory for a leftist experiment, releasing criminals into our neighborhoods because of social justice or social equity and hope that somehow it would turn out all right. But it didn't. And you should remember that when you vote next November. Next up, the war in Ukraine. The Putin pivot continues with Russian forces retreating from Kiev to redeploy in the east and then the south of Ukraine, whereas positions are stronger. The Russians are leaving behind a horrific scene of civilian casualties on the outskirts of Kiev, though we have low confidence on whether those innocent civilians died from retreating Russian forces
Starting point is 00:08:27 or from accidental Ukrainian shelling. In other words, Ukrainian forces were bombing Russian positions in civilian areas and accidentally killed their own people. Meanwhile, there's an intriguing development to the north of Kiev, the country of Belarus actually, the dictator of that country, which is a good friend of Moscow, is dealing with saboteurs who are blowing up railways, lines that were providing supplies to Russian forces. My colleagues in the intelligence community are telling me that these bombings have played a notable role in Russia's weaknesses in the North, and it will be an issue if Putin decides to try once again to capture Kiev in the many weeks and months to come. I've also confirmed reports that Russian conscripts are getting old rifles and
Starting point is 00:09:14 virtually no training as they're being shipped off to Ukraine. As one former intel colleague put it to me, these guys are cannon fodder, right? So let me explain. Putin has professional soldiers and warfighters, but he is running short of them. The casualties of these trained killers, his preferred soldiers, has been much higher than Putin expected. So he's leaning on young conscripts, none of which have been properly trained to fight, let alone win this war. But Putin doesn't care about these high death rates. Let's be clear. In fact, in a recent interview, Putin was quoted as saying, well, people die in war. Never mind that they're his own people. The bottom line is this. The war in Ukraine is going to be long and bloody, absent an event that none of us can see as of today.
Starting point is 00:10:04 And to wrap up today's President's Daily Brief, this final story. An odd development out of California, and if you're running short of money, you might want to listen closely. Residents of Palm Springs can collect up to $900 a month if you identify as. as transgender or non-binary. That's right, you just say the words. No income restrictions, by the way. You just say you're trans and you get the cash. No strings attached. This is a pilot program that will provide monthly payments between $600 to $900 to $200 to 20 lucky people in Palm Springs and would enroll another 20 transgender non-binary residents to serve as a control group, presumably getting nothing. The program, by the way, was set up by the Palm Springs,
Starting point is 00:10:49 city council, and it passed unanimously. Critics of the program note that there are over 400,000 people living below the poverty line in Riverside County, which is home, of course, to Palm Springs. Yet none of those people are eligible for support. And so I ask, is this fair? Let me ask the question a bit differently. Who deserves more financial support? A truck driver in Palm Springs who can't afford is a diesel bill, or Caitlin Jenner, the athlete formerly known as Bruce Jenner. Because according to the city of Palm Springs, the answer is Caitlin Jenner. Folks, we should care about this story, not because we like or dislike transgendered people or the movement. Rather, we should care about this story because it's about a city and a
Starting point is 00:11:39 country that are abandoning reason. They are abandoning common sense. and they are abandoning real people with real needs to advance an agenda, a woke agenda, that by purpose or by accident divides America into tribes. And that is what is so wrong with this story, and we all know it. With that, ladies and gentlemen, you have your morning brief. I'm Brian Dean Wright, and I will see you again tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. for the latest edition of the President's Daily Brief. Good day.
